The rickety cart travels through the dark woods of Bruschetta at almost walking speed. You're pretty sure that even you could outpace the merchant carts. They're not worried about speed or comfort, but they do worry about the status of their wares. The fine jewelery, ceramics, and the passengers they have in tow.

Most merchant caravans in these parts don't take passengers, but every merchant has their price. Especially so when it comes to escorting royalty. Just two carts in front of yours sit the Princess of Bruschetta, and Yuuki; the princess' hero.

Normally the snail's pace you travel at would drive you mad. Traveling for you is more of a bother than it is relaxing. It just reminds you of all the work that's you're not getting done.
This journey, on the other hand, feels different. You have all the books you need for research, the cart is moving at a pace that allows you to write, and you have an eyewitness just a few feet away you can ask questions.
You're going to turn this dreary trip into something positive. You're going to get around to finally writing that book.

You are Aligot Aujus. Typically, people refer to you as the sole historian of Biscotti. Cataloging and archiving important events isn't seen as something glamorous or necessary. You're hoping to change that, someday.

What better place to start than a complete recollection of exploits by the world's greatest heroes?
Where do you even start in this book? Maybe you should start by defining what a 'Hero' is.

Heroes, that's a good way to describe them. Protectors of your world, and legends throughout history. Heroes have defended kings and kingdoms for thousands of years since time immortal. It's unclear exactly when the tradition began, but their purpose has always been to maintain the peace and stability of your world. Men and women brought from spaces beyond your understanding to act as leaders and protectors.

Over the previous year; the barrier which protects your world reached an alarming level of instability. To the point where the kings of this world were genuinely concerned for the future of their country and their people.

To counteract this, six heroes were summoned. One hero for every major country on the continent. Each one strong in both body and mind.
Jack Albator, the fearless hunter of the seas from Biscotti.
Cody Remington, a cunning and skilled gunfighter who protects Pastillage.
Yuuki Kuschinashi, the beautiful and talented valkyrie of Bruschetta.
Dorje, The small-but-mighty martial artist who hails from Carancha.
Louise Lacerte, The energetic princess-hero of Gallete.
and finally Kayda, the spirited fire of Konditorei.

You stretch your hands, and admire your work.
That's a good start. What should you write about next?

>Go into more detail about heroes and their purpose
>Historical uses of heroes?
>Maybe a little backstory for each of them.
>Write about the countries they came from
>Get right into their lives since being summoned.
>Other?

As mentioned before. THIS IS THE RECAP THREAD! Any questions about backstory, characters, pasts, or events leading up to now are WELCOME! I will do my best to summarize parts of the story if it happens to get too far in-depth.

Or if I'm being confusing, let me know! This may be your last chance to ask questions about the story and receive concrete answers. I'll answer ALL QUESTIONS, and spoiler ones which I feel you shouldn't technically know yet.
If this thread undergoes the curse, I'll even extend it into two threads! Just for the sake of everybody interested being caught up!
with that, let's begin!

>Get right into their lives since being summoned.

Yay, I've been wanting a recap thread for a while now because I'd like to participate but catching up and remembering all the pertient details always felt really daunting.
>>
>>1271832
Both. Have any questions about anything regarding the story or my plans or even questions about how I wrote certain parts. I'll answer it.

If you want summaries independent of the summary Aligot is writing, I'll write one special. This is the tell-all thread where all secrets are open.
>>
Ok.
Can we get some info on that insane conspiracy group?
I don't think I quite understand what was up with that.

Are there any spoilers for Season 3? I'd like to join in, but I haven't bothered to catch up yet.

Which one? The cat one or the bear one?

So with that: I had this idea at one time for a big plot thread that went into Gallete and how slimey and political they were. Eventually leading to Yuuki uncovering Gallete being basically corrupt and a plot to overthrow Charlotte. I sort-of axed that plot line due to time. The general idea is that the limp-wristed fops of Gallete were orchestrating the overthrow in conjunction with the very-real and very scummy forces of Konditorei (Bears, never trust them). Although, due to the mostly upper-class nature of the nobility, they were completely unaware of the mechanics of the overthrow and figured it would be mostly a political thing. Yuuki turning them into stuffing was a step they did not foresee when they threw their hat in that ring.

>>1271938
Nope. You'll be happy to learn that the quest is a complete spinoff of the show. In fact, no characters from the show are even in the quest. It's mostly taking the setting and concepts.
The temptation was there! I almost put a single character in the story, but I decided against it.

I thought the two groups were part of the same thing?

What was up with the maid?
Did she really think that she'd be able to just get away with everything or was she just frantically bullshitting?

The maid was the latter.
She thought she could swoop in and take Konditorei for herself amidst the chaos. She already became the Princess' guardian and had control of the hero. So for her, it was only one additional step to take the throne.

Then Kayda set her on fire.

Also, writing!

But she had just had it revealed to several heroes that she was an enemy...
>>
>>1272020
Not purposefully, this was actually the result of you, the players, deciding to let Yuuki continue the investigation further back during the Gallete thing. Her and the radio were connected, so her reveal may have waited much longer if Yuuki didn't find it then.
Also I'm a bit of a hack writer and that was a convenience granted to Yuuki on the basis that it would take a long time to find through trial and error

You decide that a good place to go from here is to go more in-detail about heroes and their historical purposes. It might confuse readers if you don't have a little background as to why the heroes are important and their functions in society.

So, where to begin on that front? You could get into the purpose of the barrier itself. Heroes are essentially elected by it.
You know what? That's what you'll do. You pick up your pen and continue where you left off.

Heroes are people who are granted superhuman and supernatural abilities. Typically, kings and queens tend to be the ones who summon them. Though, heroes themselves are very much for the protection of the entity known as the 'barrier'.

The barrier is an everpresent entity which acts sort of like a shield. Some think it's a deity, some think it's the natural result of living beings and the bonds they form. In either case, the barrier itself protects people by separating the spirit from the physical. This prevents harm which affects the physical from utterly destroying the spiritual. To us, this appears in the form of the physical body breaking down into a simpler form as the spiritual moves to redeem itself.

To others, this appears as a person turning into a tiny, fuzzy ball reminiscient of their human form. It can be embarrassing, but it's what keeps our society safe and sane. The concept of dying to minor altercations is a grim one, indeed.

Heroes themselves are not elected by countries, but by the barrier. The barrier grants them special powers and abilities in exchange for protecting the barrier and all who live within it. The history is spotty, but the results are immense. The barrier and the populace share a common goal in maintaining both order and stability.

Jack is the one whom you know the most about, so you decide to go a bit more into his backstory. You turn the page and start a new entry on Jack.

Jack Albator is a ship captain (you think he was a ship captain, he never really clarified) from a faraway land. After wandering away from town one night, he met his summoning animal along the beach of a port which was being battered by a mighty storm.
His summoning brought him to Flonyard under the protection of two unlikely people. Keiko Canele, and Atsuko Costade. They are the shrine maidens of the renowed Demon Hunter's shrine of Biscotti. Jack has spent the last eight or so months with them while on his adventures.

Cody Remington is a little more spotty. You believe he lived as a rancher of some sort in his previous world. He was summoned to the princess of Pastillage, but then spent much of his waking time trying to escape his rather 'uncomfortable' summoner. He's a man who vastly prefers freedom to servitude, but his summoner doesn't quite agree. He's using the opportunity to work with Jack as a means to get some fresh air.

Yuuki Kuschinashi is the daughter of a nobleman. She was born to a house of five sisters, and no brothers. She, being the oldest, was immediately thrust into the life of being a guardian to the household. Her training has taught her well, and she has exceled in the art of the naginata. Which is a spear-type weapon with a folded blade perched atop.

Louise Lacerte is another daughter of nobility. She was the daughter of one of the largest shipping and merchant companies in her homeland. So much so, that she apparently lived like a princess. Though, her family and Jack have some kind of history. You're not entirely sure on those details.

Dorje is a mighty warrior who spent his life in solitude in the mountains. The mighty heights and steep training left him with strength which would have matched a fully-grown adult even in his world! Not bad for someone who is only twelve years old as of this writing.

Kayda is the daughter of a distant nomadic tribe. Her life was mostly hunting, gathering, and survival. This changed when she was summoned to Konditorei. A cruel place that used her very harshly. Thankfully, those problems were resolved in due time.

That seems like a good start. What should be gone over next?

>Rundown of the first few months after they were summoned.
>Focus on one hero at a time. Jack's life is pretty well known, but maybe you would like to write about someone else's time?
>Just general synopsis of events. You can go into important detail as it comes up. You're not trying to write an encyclopedia.

>Greta's father dies
>Her uncle and cousin plot to take the throne from Greta
>Clair knows the throne belongs to Greta, and she is Greta's guardian
>She uses the demon incursions to summon Kayda.
>Uncertain with what to do with Kayda, she sends her out on missions to make Gilles (Greta's cousin) and Greta's uncle get involved in foreign affairs
>This succeeds, but Kayda is captured by Yuuki and Jack
>They bring Kayda back to Konditorei, reunite with Greta.
>Clair's insane marriage plan commences to force her to gain the throne
>That goes poorly
>They return to Biscotti
>Clair attempts to continue her takeover by teaming up with the Fops in Gallete
>She gets resources for soldiers and mercenaries, they get the radio network
>The first raid on Biscotti
>Kayda saves Yuuki and beats Greta's uncle to a pulp. He's imprisoned.
>Gilles, now aimless, wanders the land.
>Clair attempts a coup using her accumulated resources
>Fire + maid.

So uh how much did Atlas know about the whole conspiracy thing?
>>
>>1272142
None. To him, he made a deal with a foreign entity to get more people for his northern colony idea. After that, people started pouring in.
He generally assumed they were just relocated slaves for the purposes of fulfilling the contract. Slavery over conquered lands being something perfectly accepting in his era and thus he never questioned it up until Jack knocked down his door.

Did Clair have Kayda treated so badly for a specific reason, or was she just an asshole?
>>
>>1272072
>Rundown of the first few months after they were summoned.
>>
>>1272179
Little of both. She didn't want Kayda thinking she was somehow different from Gilles or Greta's uncle (he has a name, I forgot to write it down in my notes, damn) and thus going to them for assistance.

Also she never liked her. She viewed her as excess baggage clinging to Greta of which she wanted to dispose of at the earliest, hence the suicide mission into Biscotti. She's also more than a little upset that she didn't get a boy hero, and thus had marriage material for Greta without bending a bunch of rules.

She's just a bitch, at her core.
>>
>>1272170
Goddammit Atlas
>>
>>1272194
Who's worse, the maid or the prince?
>>
So did Greta have anything to do with Kayda's weird way of seeing reality?
>>
>>1272201
I guess that depends on if you think blind insanity is better/worse than uncaring pragmatism.

I like Gilles because I can make him quote wrestling lines out of context and it sounds okay.
>>
>>1272212
That, believe it or not, is natural. Part of her power, 'fire-eyes'. Which lets her see some period of time into the future. She 'gained' it after the perfect 100 a while back on a rifle snap-shot.

The hallucinations and body-stealing was totally Clair's doing.
>>
>>1272221
Can all heroes unlock something like this?
>>
>>1272236
All of them have to some extent. Yuuki being the first one because she rolled the first perfect 100.
Only a couple remain who haven't. Those being Cody and Dorje
>>
>>1272072
Wait, were all the heroes plucked from the same time period on Earth, or does this world have the whole timeline at their disposal?
>>
>>1272258
I tried to keep them all within the same time period, but clearly I bent the rules quite a bit. For instance, Pirates would never be in the same time period as Cowboys. The two wouldn't find themselves meeting anywhere except a really cheesy History Channel special.

But I wanted the warrior archetypes, and the me two years ago wasn't exactly thinking about the implications. So that's just how it happened.

I was actually wanting MORE heroes from even stranger time periods. A Cossack, a Viking, and a Janissary. I decided against it and only picked the strongest ideas when I realized that it would mean needing three extra characters.

I honestly didn't expect DDQ to go beyond 50 threads. Yet here we are!

Also, I am indeed writing.

You don't want to bog the future reader down with details. You're sure the only reason someone might read this book is because of the story of the heroes contained within.

So, like all good entertainers, give the people what they want. You flip the page and start writing about the first few months each of them had in this world.

Where to begin? Why, with the one you know the most about, of course. Jack.

The time immediately after summoning was a period of uncertainty. Demons had recently attacked several villages, and there existed a nefarious plot of which was undiscovered and whose origins were undetermined.
Many kingdoms were on the verge of having intense political struggles as these tensions boiled over into the relatively peaceful lives of the civilian populace.

In a way, the heroes being summoned couldn't have come any later than they did.

Immediately, the very idea of the heroes existing put many of these tensions to ease. They became celebrities in their own right, even though most people had no clue what these heroes even looked like. Many believed Yuuki in Brushetta and Louise in Gallete were both hulking, massive men! Gallete attempted to retain the illusion with Louise for roughly five months, and never allowed her to take a public spotlight on the belief that the revelation of her gender and age would shatter the relative peacefulness they had found for themselves.
Gallete as a whole is a very vain country in that way.

Most of the heroes stuck to their own countries and tried to solve inter-country problems as time progressed. This was changed by only one exception: Jack, of Biscotti. Jack was always a man of initiative. He would find problems far before anyone could even understand that they could become problems. His work was merticulous, and his solutions were decisive. In a way, he was the bridge of which united the countries under one banner.

That's not to say that the other heroes were not also equally busy with their own problems. Dorje completely rid his country of demonic threats, Yuuki became renowned as the hero of both nobility and the common man by eradicating the bandits in her country, and Cody- er. Cody.

Things were not always good for our newly vested saviors. Kayda was given very harsh rules and punishments from her summoner. Louise was summoned with a pre-existing sickness of which this world had never seen before.

Jack and his princess, Tuile. They, being the proactive people they were, took it upon themselves to venture to the various countries in an attempt to unite the heroes and live a peaceful life.

Tuile arranged for the various heroes to visit Biscotti on political business. That was the perfect time for the first hero team to assemble! You say it was a hero team, but it was more of just Yuuki and Jack. That's okay, all groups must start somewhere.

As their first exploit, they traveled to the nearby land of Gallete to investigate a demon attack which had caused many of the residents to flee the countryside. Along with a crack team of knights from Gallete, they effortlessly defeated the beast.
Which then raised a very good question from Jack. 'Where was Gallete's hero'?

On further investigation. Jack found Gallete's hero; Louise. She was bedridden from an otherworldly illness, and needed immediate medical attention. Spirit-based remedies proved ineffective against the disease, and so Jack sought out the advice from an extremely wise sage, who lived in the swamps of Gallete.

Let's get an overview, then we can do detail stuff later?

So what are the royalty like here?
Like, did they all know that heroes were being summoned or what?
>>
>>1272421
All the major kingdoms were well-aware of the summoning, but many of the ones who commissioned it were called away before it could be finished.

Tuile's father went on a long hunting trip, likely with Charlotte's father. Anna's father has been ruling from afar for a long time. Greta's father is dead, and Eileen (sheep girl)'s father lives in a castle in Carancha.

The adults are fairly well-mannered, but most of them were warriors themselves. Tuile's father, for instance, is 300 years old and has a physique similar to Gilles. He's just way more sane about it, though.

We'll see how sane he continues to be when he meets the man dating his daughter

Hello. I love my stupid normie life keeping me out past 8 when a thread is live.

Anyway, writing!

>>1272902
>So what does the other royalty really know about what's going on?
The princesses know about as much as the heroes do. The only ruler who is kept aware all of the time is the ruler of Bruschetta (You met her)

Also Bunny Queen acted like that because Yuuki is not just a national treasure but also akin to a sister to Anna. She's also more than a little paranoid.

>>1274876
>How many royals have met their heroes?

Not that many, which is actually a failing on my part. I wanted the Kings and Queens to play a part in the quest, but it just hasn't happened.
Dorje has met Eileen's mother and father. Louise is kind of a secret, so she hasn't met anyone outside of Charlotte. Kayda has met all she can stand, and Jack has only met Tuile.
I just didn't find a story for them, sadly.

>What's the squirrel kingdom like?
Very much like a higher-nobility version of Biscotti. I never got around to really fleshing it out, because I never got around to visiting it (another thing I wish I could have done). While Gallete has cutthroat politics, much of Pastillage (squirrel kingdom) is considerably more laid back, mostly because their politicians hail from a line of extremely powerful mages (This is a fact I lifted from the show). so most of them are friends with one another or are smart enough to not flatten parts of the countryside over petty squabbles. It's also why Amaretti is a bit of a control freak, it runs in the family (the other parts are just her personal quirks).

How fluffy are squirrel tails
You could not imagine.
>>
>>1274923
Huh why is the queen so paranoid?
>>
>>1274943
Much of it has to do with her upbringing. She was kept in a castle staffed entirely by women specifically to keep her from developing romantic relationships. So her dealings with other people, and especially men whom Anna hasn't spoken the best of in her letters, is dodgy at best.

Also Jack and Cody's very presence she disliked because she was under the impression that their presence was purely for the purpose of picking up chicks. She liked Dorje, though.

-The wise sage and herbalist was named Madeleine. Her past unclear, but her skill unrivaled beyond all the apothecaries of Gallete and Biscotti.

She emerged from her self-imposed isolation alongside Jack, and was given the task of curing the ailed Louise. Thankfully, her magic was much stronger than spiritual magic. Louise Lacerte's life was saved, and Madeleine was hailed as a-

Okay, you can't write that second part. You don't want to write that Madeleine was derided for frivilous reasons and Jack himself was only given a minor 'thank you' from Gallete. You want Gallete to be remembered as a proud country in the future instead of a bunch of stuck-up crybabies.

So, -Louise Lacerte's life was saved, and Madeleine was thanked for her efforts.

Gallete soon became a hotbed of political activity. Many nobles of Gallete were furious at the revelation that Louise Lacerte was merely a girl twelve years of age. The others kept this fact a secret. Some even going as far as to paint Jack Albator as Gallete's hero.

Nonetheless, Jack returned to his homeland of Biscotti after the terrifying ordeal. His victory was short-lived. On arrival, he recieved news of Tuile being kidnapped by her uncle. Her uncle being no other than the long-reigning 'King of the underworld'.

A mighty, and gentle person. He did have a habit of taking Tuile down into the underworld periodically. He refers to it more as visiting her than kidnapping.
Jack, the weary hero he is, decided to pursue Tuile into the depths to retrieve her. His meeting with her uncle prompted him to start taking Tuile to visit him more often to stem the crushing loneliness of the underworld. You believe they still visit him on occasion.

Jack, and Yuuki earned a relative period of peace. He continued to fight alongside Camille, a well-renowned demon hunter, in his quest to rid Biscotti of the threat which had befallen it.

That was until Jack had his eventual meeting with Cody Remington.

Cody had spent most of his time after being summoned as a wanderer. He went back and forth between countries, merely to try out anything that he fancied. The details of which are hazy, and he's not exactly one for sharing them.

In his journey, he had learned of Jack through the many deeds he had done throughout the land. The idea of a man who was just as fast and strong as him was intriguing. Interested, he sought out Jack to test his strength and his wits.

While it's unclear who won the duel between them; what is clear is that JAck earned Cody's respect relatively early and became a valuable ally in the fight against the demonic menace.

That's good for a starting chapter. Where should you go now?

You should tell everything about that ordeal. Whether it's boring or not, it's still important to Kayda and her story.

Konditorei, the nation of bears, has always had strained relationships with Biscotti. They're a very militaristic nation that, despite universal protection from the barrier, insist on maintaining an extremely strong standing army for the purposes of intimidating their neighbors. Barrier or not, brute force still has its advantages.

The appearance of heroes in neighboring countries was very much a threat to their power dominance over the southern regions of the land. It's a political game they've played since the founding of their country.
Heroes invalidated many of their military ambitions. Those men and women who could fell their entire army in a day and go for seconds proved to be a drastic political tool for other countries. Their military and political structure collapsed soon after the first summoning. The two powers were intertwined to the point where one was necessary for the survival of the other. The resulting turmoil forced Konditorei royalty to take drastic measures.

Konditorei themselves were offered a formal hero of their own. The unforeseen part of the agreement is what the political nature of summoning a hero in a primarily military-based society. Whoever received the hero would have in their control the single strongest soldier in all of the land. This person would essentially be akin to the former King himself. Chaos ensued, and the summoning spell itself was eventually passed to the least influential person in the kingdom in the best interests of the political caste.

Kayda, or 'Wihikayda' as her full name, was summoned on a cold day far from Konditorei castle. Her summoner was none other than the Princess of Konditorei: Greta di Konditorei.
While fiercely loyal, Kayda valued the protection of Greta above all else. Konditorei's royalty, recognizing the opportunity, sent Kayda on faraway missions with the intent of removing her from the political sphere. The logic being that if Konditorei's hero were to fall while away in a foreign land, it would present the perfect opportunity for a military coup of the current Konditorei power structure.

This plan failed when Kayda, exhausted from weeks spend away from her summoner, was captured by none other than Jack Albator and Yuuki Kushinachi. The two took an immediate liking to Kayda, and decided to take it upon themselves to return Kayda to her summoner.

The road was long, and the journey uncertain. Together, the heroes brought Kayda back to her homeland and were given a less-than-welcome reception. The reigning generals of Konditorei wanted nothing more than Jack and his crew dead. Not to mention how furious they were at the concept of a foriegn entity meddling with their politics.

Clair, the head maid of Konditorei and Greta's retainer, used this opportunity to attempt a coup of her own. It is stated in Konditorei law that the heir to the throne will ascend when that person is married to a Konditorei citizen. While Kayda and Greta were not 'compatible', it was still enough of a reason to attempt a wedding between the two on the grounds that they were both citizens.

This failed when the upper echelon of Konditorei discovered the plot well in advance. Gilles, a mighty mountain of a man and also the third-in-line for the throne, disrupted the wedding and forced Greta and her retainer to seek refuge in Biscotti.

Folks, some of you have pointed out that I messed up ROYALLY by not posting 'Recap thread' in the title.
I am well aware of the screw-up, and was royally upset when it happened. I even put 'recap thread' in the title when originally making the thread, but autocomplete turned it to be like my other thread titles.

I think I will solve this by extending the recap thread into two threads and putting recap in the thread title for the next thread. Is everyone okay with that? We could get a lot more detail done that way.

You should at least mention what happened after Jack returned from Konditorei.

After the ordeal, the kingdom of Biscotti suddenly found themselves in a very tense situation. They were now the refuge of an important political figure.
Biscotti was never the kind of kingdom to become involved in massive political affairs across the continent. This was a new problem of which the kingdom had not seen before.

More importantly, upon arriving back to Biscotti; Jack discovered a most foul plot that has unfurled in a neighboring nation.

Gallete castle, and all of its inhabitants, had mysteriously disappeared from the face of Floneyard. Upon investigation, it appeared that the castle's staff were taken by a most foul mixture of magic and deception. Wine, made from picked grapes fermented on vines placed outside the border, exhibited a most strange behavior. The mixture had the uncanny ability to magically move its victims seemingly through the air.

Interrogation of the prisoners picked up in Konditorei revealed a sinister purpose for the disappearance. Konditorei was attempting to establish a barrier to the distant and abandoned north. To establish a second barrier, many people would need to be gathered in one place at a single time to help establish a new, living entity.
Jack, Cody, and Yuuki immediately set out for the north.

Upon their arrival, they came to the realization that this plan had been in place for quite some time. Many villages from many different parts of FLoneyard had also been taken to the distant north for the purpose of establishing this sinister colony.

Jack, upon investigation, realized the extent of the Konditorei presence in this mysterious colony, and went out to destroy it. His travels taking him across a young boy named Dorje, whom had also set out for the same purpose. Jack, unaware the boy was actually the esteemed hero of Carancha, brought him along on the intention of protecting him. Dorje, too, had something taken from him by the forces of Konditorei which he sought to reclaim. The heroes would soon be the downfall of Konditorei's plan.

Their return from the northern lands not only destroyed Konditorei's ambitions, but also their extensive spy network which reached into Biscotti. Many of their agents were removed from hiding, and forced to come out into the open. Their leadership in disarray; Konditorei hatched a plan to take advantage of a natural disaster which had befallen Gallete.

Upon return from the Northern Lands; Jack was swept up into Gallete's problems once again. It seems that in the absense of any resistance inside of Gallete castle, a dragon had taken up residence within the castle walls. Gallete wished to send Louise alone into the castle, but was unaware of her age and her skill level when they issued that command.

Taking up the order, Jack and his crew staged an assault on Gallete castle unknown to the lords and nobles who gave Louise the order. Jack arrived to Gallete castle to find that the dragon was not as much attempting to live in the castle as it was attempting to take something from its innermost vaults. This caused Jack to investigate further into the deepest parts of Gallete, and discover a horrifying secret. Gallete had been keeping prisoner two extremely important people within their dungeon. One being a dragon kidnapped from her faraway home before she knew or understood her family, another of which was the third-in-line for the Gallete throne: Elise Di Gallete.

Realizing the extent of which Gallete may be compromised; the heroes returned the two back to Biscotti to show Charlotte. This had the dual effect of giving Konditorei a reason to attack, and to put certain sections of Gallete on Konditorei's side to evade Charlotte's wrath.

You look back at the book.

You turn the page and continue at the pace you were determined to keep with.
You start penning the name of the new chapter you're creating.

The Attack on Biscotti.
Biscotti was never a nation of war. The castle lacked proper defensive safeguards, the town was built almost entirely without any walls whatsoever, and most of the fortifications such as guardtowers and posts were mostly decorative or meant primarily for natural disasters.

It was like this for a reason, though. The only nation which Biscotti had altercations with in recent history was Gallete. Many of their wars and battles were purely for the tradition of the act instead of the actual conquest involved. Gallete and Biscotti had been on fairly good terms, so the idea that Biscotti would come under attack was far outside the minds of the populace. However, Biscotti was also extremely ill-equipped to fight a guerilla war on their territory. Konditorei knew of this weakness, and they sought to exploit it.

Gallete's hidden branch, and Konditorei both pooled their resources together to establish a base camp within Biscotti. This act went mostly unnoticed as Biscotti's forces were worn thin at the time due to recent events.

Soon after, Biscotti castle was attacked. Their initial attack would have been successful, and may have even captured Louise; if not for the work of Yuuki and one brave Biscotti Knig-

You can barely write that with a straight face. What is a good word to describe Pomelo?

You're going to skip over the technicals that happened inbetween. What's more important is how Konditorei's king was captured.

Kayda, the hero of Konditorei, had taken refuge in Biscotti along with her summoner when the attack occurred. She initially evaded getting involved, as she felt it was none of her concern and was instead a problem for Biscotti.
That was, until Yuuki was captured via the enemy using a rare technique known as a 'charm'. Kayda decided that it was time to become involved after Yuuki's disappearance was brought to light.
Her first task was to patrol a short ways from the castle with the other knights. Kayda didn't expect to find anything that would lead her to Yuuki, but was happy to at least help in some small way.

It's unclear what exactly happened during this patrol. Kayda was paired with several Biscotti knights to investigate a section of road near the castle, but was ambushed during the patrol. Kayda describes the moment when she felt almost incandescent. The knights who were patrolling with her merely describe this moment as Kayda spacing out for several seconds, before acting. Whatever the case may be, Kayda had gunned down over twenty enemy combatants before either of the knights had the chance to blink. They went on to describe it as being proof of Kayda's heroism.

Among the twenty who were captured, one was identified by Kayda to be a Konditorei general. She left the group and went off to search for the others on her own. Due to her familiarity with their military tactics and commanders; she was able to find the remaining Konditorei forces with ease.

Among them was Konditorei's king, and an incapacitated Yuuki. Kayda made short work of the remaining forces and brought Yuuki and the now-incapacitated king back to Biscotti castle.

This would have been the end of Biscotti's ambitions, if they did not have several generals who were more than healthy and more than willing to rescue their now-captured king. They regrouped, and attempted a second assault.

Konditorei's second assault was far less ambitious, and more disorganized. It was defeated by a team of Jack and Yuuki. The diversion, which managed to evade the two heroes and find its way to Biscotti castle, was subsequently defeated almost accidentally by Louise, Dorje, and Kayda.

Konditorei, as a military power, was no more. All of its generals were captured, and its army was practically toothless. Thus was the power of the heroes of Floneyard.

>Okay, that's about enough for this time period

You are tempted to skip over the insurrection in Gallete, but that's an important part of the story as well. Just because it's not really Jack's victory doesn't minimize its importance.

You turn the page and start on a new chapter.

The Gallete insurrection.
With Konditorei's military ambitions out of the picture; it was time to move up the chain of command to find the root cause of the incursions and the attacks on Biscotti.
Jack was unhelpfully misled by several side adventures he had been summoned on. Fortunately, Yuuki was able to find a lead! That lead brought her to none other than the ruling political class of Gallete.

In part by offering their services and resources to Konditorei, many nobles in Gallete were offered use of some powerful magic to aide with their dreadful ambitions. Gallete nobility had grown tired of the still-absent king, and resented Charlotte fully. They saw themselves as revolutionaries and renaissance men, and desperately sought for the end of the current Gallete power structure. The only thing standing in their way was Princess Charlotte, and her hero.

Gallete nobility decided that after their special forces failed, and then Konditorei's army failed; it was time to think of a new strategy. While they, themselves, were far too cultured to lift a finger of their own; they instead started trying to think of ways to spring Konditorei's army and re-launch their campaign once more.

Yuuki, having caught wind of their magic method of communication, was able to infiltrate the group in a disguise. She managed to uncover a plot to steal Charlotte away, and thus end Louise's life from hero starvation. Charlotte revealed the plot and took the offending members of nobility into custody; the whereabouts of them are still unknown. Charlotte later quoted to be infinitely in Yuuki's debt for uncovering it, as she was unaware of the plot until Yuuki discovered it.

This doesn't seem very in-depth. Anything else you need to-

BOOM

There's an explosion up ahead! You poke out of the wagon and realize that it's already nighttime! How long have you been writing?!

"What was that?" You yell to the point-guard.
"Sounds like a rockslide or something, I'm going ahead to investigate!" Yuuki yells back from her cart. With a leap, Yuuki jumps away wearing only her nightgown, which is a bit too short for her, off into the abyss of night.

What else are you going to add?

Oh right, how about-

>Yuuki has a nice butt.

You mentally slap yourself, and try to get back on track. Try not to think of firm, luscious peaches.
..
While she's on your mind; you decide to write a bit more about Yuuki's investigation. You turn the page and start on a sub-chapter.

Yuuki originally set out to find the owner of the magic radio network, and had no intent on helping Gallete or Biscotti. Things managed to play themselves out that way after going undercover inside Gallete nobility. Gallete operates on extremely strict gender, race, and age requirements for being considered one of the upper-class of the country.
To compensate for being the wrong gender, wrong age, and wrong race; she wore a very convincing disguise which allowed her to claim she was one of them.

In her investigation, she was able to glean details about the plot on Gallete and some information on the captives that were being held inside of Gallete castle. Namely, the dragon girl and Elise. Her findings led her to realize that the scheme was a joint operation between Konditorei and the nobility of Gallete. Emboldened by her findings, she decided to look further into the matter.

Jack, in the meantime, was conducting a related investigation of his own. He was searching for the creators of the wine which was used to kidnap a large section of Gallete castle. His search brought him across a boy named Ethan, whom was also searching for someone who had been taken from him. Jack figured there wasn't much to the young lad. He seemed to have almost unmatched skills in the art of thievery, and was most helpful to Jack in his investigation. Jack, after having more than one run-in with the child, decided that he was a valuable asset to have aboard.

In the meanwhile, Yuuki also discovered something very interesting in her search for more information on Gallete. She discovered that Elise, the girl found in the depths of Gallete, was actually Gallete's second-in-line for the throne! This revelation was compounded when it was found out that Ethan was also her brother! The plan from Gallete's royalty seemed to be an attempt to replace Charlotte with someone they more easily controlled. Elise had lived behind lock and key for her entire life, and was more prone to listening to someone who had more authority over her freedom than someone such as Charlotte.

The plan came to a head when Charlotte herself was nearly kidnapped using the same magic wine technique. Fortunately, Jack and Yuuki caught wind of the plan in time to stop it.

That seems about enough regarding that certain event. Where to next?

>Next would be.. the ring in Kayda's neck, right?
