Piccolo stares you down, holding the fruit tight and waiting to see what you do or hear what you say. But, you aren't in the mood to debate with the stubborn Namekian.

Without another word, you thrust your hand toward the green man, unleashing a blast of energy aimed for the fruit in his hand. With an angry cry, Piccolo thrusts his free hand toward you, firing a blast of his own.

The two balls of light race across the distance separating them, colliding in a brilliant flash that seems to shake the entire mighty tree beneath your feet. Several of the smaller fruits in that area are eliminated, and a cloud of smoke appears between you and the Namekian.

With a frustrated growl, you rush forward, only for the cloud to be blown away by a sudden gust of energy that forces you to shield your eyes. When you uncover them, you're treated to the sight of the fruit's core falling to the ground at Piccolo's feet. The Namekian smirks at you, a smirk that reminds you far too much of battles past, when he wanted nothing more than to destroy you and your friends for standing in the way of his world domination.

Lapis smirks as well, arms crossed as he watches a powerful aura begin to whip around Piccolo. Whether he's ignorant to the danger, or just doesn't care, you don't know, but you doubt you can expect help from him if this situation goes South.

"I have to tell you, Tofoo, this feels incredible," Piccolo tells you, his tone calm and joyous. "I wonder how long it will be before the next fruit's ready."

He's certainly a strange sight. He appears to be a short, pointy-eared old man dressed in jeans and a denim jacket. He wears a pair of dark sunglasses on his face, and boasts a rather long head of hair that stretches down his back.

"Who are you supposed to be?" Lapis questions as the old man approaches.

The elder stops in his tracks, glancing toward the young man. "They call me the Grand Kai."

You see Piccolo's entire body give a jolt. "G-Grand Kai?"

A glow appears beneath the Kai's hand, spreading further and further from its source before it seems to cover the entire interior of the tree. You then watch in amazement as the tree seems to melt away in a beautiful golden glow, leaving you and the others floating over a lush, and beautiful forest.

"Alright, that should do it," the Grand Kai tells you. "Good thing this tree didn't have much time to gather energy, the damage to your planet's not too bad."

"Hmph, you can handle that," Piccolo tells you. "I've got my own business to deal with."

With that, the Namekian turns and flies off, Lapis offering you a goodbye before following. The Grand Kai chuckles as he watches Piccolo fly away, then glances at you.

"Well, kid, I'd better get back myself," he tells you. "Take care, now!"

With that, the old man vanishes in a flash of light.

As the months pass, you do the best you can to balance your time between fighting and family, spending a great deal of time within the gravity chamber, pushing yourself to your limits, while also spending as much time as you can with Bulma and Trunks, whether it be something as simple as watching television as a family, or taking Trunks to the park, or anything really.

You make sure to get some sparring sessions in with Kori and Konattsu as the months pass as well. The two girls show a great deal of promise, and seem to be rapidly growing in strength.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for you.

Though you train your hardest, though you continue to push yourself beyond any limits you face, your improvement is far too slow for your liking. Honestly, it's beginning to feel like you're reaching the end of your rope as far as power's concerned.
