Making your way down the hall you can't help but get the feeling something is going wrong. Why does this Blackwatch group get to act with near impunity, how has nobody heard of them, what is with that knife you snatched, what the heck are you going to do when you finally get back to that room?

Sadly, you don't have the time to ask all these questions Jacob Marshal. First things first, you’re on your way back to Madison's ICU room. Although, what was it that was so important for Blackwatch that they even went to the trouble of using her as a hostage to force her grandfather into their service? Could it be the shells he shot you with? Maybe, although for some reason, you get the feeling that’s not it at all.

As you arrive at the corridor the brutes are standing guard again, easy enough, open fire on the giants, run around a corner, hide on the ceiling again, and they’re as clueless as ever.

. . . . Madison, still unconscious. The medical chart says that her breathing is shallow, apparently, she stopped breathing sometime after the accident. Her arms in a cast, no surprise, it was a pretty bad wreck. Seems like she’s just hooked up to an oxygen tank while her lungs recover, aside from that there’s a note of stitches having been done.

>Try and find a way to move her, you can’t leave here with Blackwatch.
>Leave her, Blackwatch may be using her as a hostage but they need her alive, it’s too risky to move her.
>Maybe you can wake her up? It shouldn’t be impossible.

Rolled 13 (1d20)

You give Madison a nudge on the shoulder, and are met with no response. Once more and she slightly moves her head. After giving a bit of a shake she partially opens her eyes.
>>
She's really out of it, but she puts her free arm over her mask and she almost jumps. A moment later and she's looking at the oxygen tank and her arm. Then she lies back again.

>tell her we have to move, now.

Not quite.

"I just saved everybody's asses, but now there's a bunch of military types in the hospital coming to kick my ass. They're using you as a hostage to get to your grandfather, so I've got to get you out of here."

She nods, understandingly.

"I've got a motorcycle that I'm pretty sure will outrun their trucks."

then she gives you a disapproving look and points at the oxygen tank. great, she apparently needs that with her.

>Maybe there's a way we can take it with us on the Harley.
>in this case it might be better to steal an ambulance.

1 Try and lift her and the tank over our heads and go by roof.

2 find a tank carrier, a couple tanks, and go by cycle.
>>
You find a portable oxygen tank in the corner of the room, and a quick look under the bed lets you find another small tank of air. At least she wont run out.

after hooking her up to the portable one she gets up very slowly, clearly she isn't going to be able to run, and the guards are likely at the door again. you're going to have to get cleaver about getting out of here.

>go through the back wall. you should be able to get out on the other side of the hallway and away from the guards.

Nat 20.

You really don't see any of the soldiers as you rush down the halls, gas tank(s) in tow. You Quickly make your way down stairs and can clearly the Garage, you know where your cycle is so you don't waste time getting to it, however.

>>
Rolled 20 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

with Madison firmly in place under you and her tanks tied down, you start up the engine and go flying out of the garage. A few soldiers take aim and fire as you weave down the street.
>>
Oddly enough, as your fleeing the gunfire stops, and in the mirror you see what looks like a woman with a large hammer for an arm flying into and smashing the Blackwatch troopers you were evading.

You finally make your way back to the Building, parking your bike in the alleyway and covering it with a discarded tarp, you have Madison wait down at the lobby while you leap upstairs. You sling your tendrils towards the sofa you have blocking the doorway, of course this causes a fried bean chewing Nina to scream for a solid three minutes until she finally gets her bearings.

"holy shit your loud cous."

"what the hell!"

you quickly jump back down and start walking Maddison upstairs. seems she's almost had a heart attack while you were running her out of the building. of course, being physically injured and In a high stress situation will leave anybody drained.

"ah, Collecting girls now are you?"

"Nina, come on, at least give it a day."

Madison seems to respond only with a finger. we all know which one. it's definitely going to be a while till that mask comes off and she can talk again.

I agree with this.

Also, I am super glad things did not go badly while I was on my way home from work.
>>
You take a look at the rifle as the memories of operation and handling go through your head.

The internals are just impressive, designed to push every bit of gas out of the barrel as possible while allowing the mechanics to work independently of a gas system, and working only after the bullet leaves the barrel, the rechambering isn't all that fast, but the stopping power it lends the 5.56 cartrage is incredible. It does seem to take D cell batteries however. at least while the safety is on it doesn't use it.

You take your time showing your cousin the fine points of maintenance before actually helping her get a feel for aiming the damn thing.

"alright, see your aiming right our the window just fine. now go ahead an-"

"WELL HELLO THERE!"

Nina panics and squeezes down on the trigger. Whoever it was who tried to pay you a visit from the window just went to ground and doesn't sound happy.

"Is that really how you greet a lady!?"

Madison is ringing the bell you set up for her to communicate like a mad woman. Nina seems to be distressed now that she just shot someone.

"And they lived, oh my god theymusthatemeandiftheycangetuptothewindowlikethattheywillprobablythrowmeacrossthestreetandohmygodJacobmightneverletmenearagunagainandthenhowwilliprotectmyself-

"deep breaths Jacob, deep breaths."

You can't help but chuckle. Everything about this situation is exactly what comes to mind when you think of a shitty comedy. You should probably curve the laughter when you get downstairs though.

You take a leap from the windowsill and start off immediately.

"Sorry, I was just showing a relative how to handle her new rifle and- oh fuck, you."

"hmn? oh go on, you had my attention."

It's her. the catsuit that stabbed you in the neck.

"Ah, there it is, someone is certainly surprised. I have to admit I didn't think I'd ever be seeing the living bomb I had thrown at me again either. I have to say, I'm impressed you made that much of a mess of those Blackwatch soldiers back there, although I am a little curious as to why."

Your tendrils slam down hard into the earth first, you end up just a centimeter above them as you finally come to a stop. keeping all three tendrils on each side close together you swing their weight into as many infected as you can, even closing the 'fingers' at the ends together to make a claw mace. You even impale a zombie and do this inside of it, they make for pretty good improvised bludgeons in your opinion. You do manage to break through most of this hoard before you start seeing an interesting, variation, some of these zombies are growing armor. needless to say it might be a good thing your not using your claws, they seem to be mostly getting tossed without actually staying down.

Nope, Consumption is an act that can take anywhere between a few seconds and if it's something mutated or larger, (much much larger) a full minute. the time to consume anything can actually be reduced greatly by simply getting the consumption upgrades when you have the option to take them, of course, you will always have to damage something at least a little to begin consuming.

Jesus I fucking hate the goddam captcha, I have to do like 5 to 9 different captchs before i can post.
>>
>>1496175
The trick to captcha is to figure out what it wants. It's honestly really bad at recognizing "shirts" or "hats" or small corners of "vehicles" or whatever. Basically you have to think like a slightly retarded image recognition system, and click everything that might be a thing, but not everything. I'm not sure if that makes any sense to you, but I hope it helps.
>>
>>1496196
It may be karma, I used to fk with the captcha in the past, its mostly cars, roads, mountains and signs, even if I do it as accurately as possible it still tells me I am wrong or to try again.

I always try to avoid the ones that fade out and replace a new image, cuz they go on forever.
>>
>>1496211
I find the trick is to not be accurate. I think it takes each frame of the image as one thing, so it's not going to identify that three-pixel-wide stripe on the edge of one image as a "sign".
>>
>>1496237
I always ignore those tiles, too lazy for the extra click.

You stomp your foot down onto the neck of the Blackwatch trooper and steal his radio.

"Listen you mother fuckers, you start firing on innocents again, and I'll do ten times worse than crash another one of your fancy helicopters. I will personally hunt down every last one of your comrades, pull their entrails out of their back, and hang them from them. I shall gouge out their left eye's and force them to clean the wound with salt water. I will take a great many lengths of rebar and fashion the frame of a metal tree out of them, on which I will impale your sons and daughters. It's the long march alright. It takes you a very long time to get out of the general area, with the injured limping along. You find your fortunate that many of these people are very well armed. A ring of firearms surrounds those who find themselves without a weapon.

And so be it.

20.

Your not sure how, but it feels like some kind of radar goes off in your head. Quickly you turn towards your right and call out announcing the presence of a hostile. Near instantly it jumps out, but your early warning allows the armed members of your march to put several bullets into the hunter before it can retreat back into the ruins of an old restaurant.

You hear it roar. Sounds angry. Then there's another roar. And another, and another, so many roars. You marched these people into a nest.

Give me 1d20-2 to see how well you can hold off these Hunters.

+3 if you can come up with a way do slow down the hunters advance.
+2 if you can figure out how to hold back multiple hunters while defending a large group of people.

I'm rolling for what the survivors can pull off.
>>
Rolled 9 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

>>1499422
We should just try to pull up the ground in front of the hunters, slowing down their charge repeatedly. As for defending the large group, have the unarmed get into the center, while the armed surround the group, as a wall. We will constantly try to circle the group, taking out any attacker

19, success.

You manage to beat back the hunters you do manage to see from attacking the group, which actually does surprisingly well. from what you've seen only two or three people were killed in one hunters charge, it ended up getting pelted enough times it took off like a jack rabbit near a gator nest. It even looks like a small number of the hunters took off down the street.

Not much occurs as you march down the street, you can swear your hearing a lot of noise when a large group of infected start to come out of one of the alleyways. Immediatly the survivors start firing, but then more and more keep coming out of the alley and into the street.

"You know, I would have figured we were dead about 5 minutes back. You guys really held your own!"

And then you throw, leaving quite a mess. twisted bits of bone and plastic line the street as the car slams into the alleyway. It really slows down the undead, but eventually they start coming up and over the blockage, If not coming down another alley.

you manage to evade a number of quills, the survivors aren't so lucky, a few are even pinned to the sidewalk and are beginning to turn. Spikers, they're just up ahead. you have to do something about them or they can wipe out the everyone here.

We seem to be best in melee, and I'm sure the spikers will be more interested in us trying to punch their faces in than murdering the mostly-helpless normal people.

You take off and quickly rush towards the Spikers, two of them turn to you and look like they're about to start firing.

You manage to reach the infected, and lunge for the spiker that's still shooting at the survivors. You pierce it's hide and rake it's side. You didn't realize these things can roar that loudly.

the other two begin to open fire on you while the maimed one backs off. you find an easier time dodging these, but then a hunter blindsides you.

1d20-3.
+1 if you can worry about how Nina and Madison are doing.
+2 if you can be concerned these things are actually coming up with pack tactics.
+2 if you can think of a way to use the spikers to your advantage right now.

>>1501326
We have been gone a few hours, and Nina really doesn't know how to use a gun, so fuck me we should get back as soon as we can.

As for the infected learning, it just makes it easier to kill them in groups. The spikers however, could be used to our advantage if we keep moving so maybe the hunters would hit their own instead of us
>>
Rolled 3 - 3 (1d20 - 3)

>>1501326
I hope these things haven't found their way to the girls yet.

I was not expecting pack tactics form the bigger infected. Either they're learning or someone is ordering them around.

See if we can get some friendly-fire from the spikers.
>>
Rolled 6, 6, 19, 5 = 36 (4d20)

Holy shit.

Roll behind the hunter you make a swipe for it's stomach as the spikers open fire, railing it from behind with a series of quills.

That's when you hear the survivors shouting, the hunters are back.

The survivors seem to have a pretty good stock of weaponry. They should be able to hold them off long enough to take down some of this trouble first. Then we go help them.

We've got our claws out already, so let's use those.

You manage to lunge towards the wounded Spiker, flip it over with an upwards swing, and begin to tear out it's innards.

You catch a glimpse of the survivors, quite a few of them are getting pushed back and maimed now, the four hunters seem to be having an easy time, only one of them manages to get a good spray of bullets to it's flank.

>Rush over there, NOW.

The attack on the civilians continues as the hunters begin assailing the armed survivors and everyone without a weapon is now trying to flee into the buildings, often without much success.

The hunter fighting you has begun to start trying to hound you away from the other hunters. and some of the Spikers are starting to crawl closer.

>just get closer to the survivor and start pushing out the hunters. let the survivors start pelting them with bullets.
