You are Theo, a 21 year old kid from a pacific american coastal town, and for some reason despite the current year, you want to become a pirate.

Where we last left off, you looted around a warehouse and some docks, and are now currently about to board a fishing trawler.

> Fishing Trawler [Navigation: Routine]

"Avast! Another Trawler up the bowside!" you snarl at your crew. You imagine their response to be more vicious than the passive acknowledgement they gave you.

You haven't entirely understood the details of how to board the ship, but somehow Randy tells you he can signal the ship that they need help. He pulls out a signal flag, attaching it to the starboard side; a red cross, like the old English flag. Victor.

It takes a while for the trawler to see the flag once you steer counter clockwise. You see the ship approach, your crew looking up at you for direction.

"Haha me laddies', ne'er be feared! A great sum we'll reap from ye ole fishing trawlarrrrrr!" you shout, fake rifle in the air. With that, you detail them in verbose piratese your plan:

> Everyone hide in the bridge, let them board, and then burst out to ambush!
> Randy wait on deck, greet them, and we ambush them!
> While they board, we hide portside by the fishing crane, then jump aboard, rob the vessel, then return and ambush them from their own ship!

"Everyone in the bridge! We'll let 'em board, then ambush them!"

Shaun asks something that from your limited Chinese education you assume was a question. Randy builds up on this with another question.

"A-a-ambush them with w-w-what?"

You grab a knife and toss them towards the two. They both backed immediately to avoid being sliced. The other knife you give to Jimmy, who shakes his head but grabs the knife, saying "As long as nobody gets hurt..."

You throw on your pirate garb, snag up the plastic rifle, and sit in the bridge, crouching to avoid being seen from the fisherman, who know have parked their ship parallel to the starboard side. Randy sits in the storage closet, uncontrollably shakes with the boxcutter cradled in his hands, while Shaun scratches his nail on the survival knife blade, and Jimmy gets up on his knees to see the intruders on the ship. He whispers what he sees.

"I don't see anyth--wait! Someone threw a hook or something! Looks like they're reeling in now...
...
Okay, they're boarding now. You wanna wait? Okay. Theres two of them now. Keep waiting?

Wait, I see two more coming in now. They match us! What do we do now?"

"Uh....uh....theres something in the...the uh, uh,...come in here! In here!" you jump up and down, trying to lead them in. They don't seem to buy it.

Suddenly, Shaun barges out. He waves out the plastic rifle.

With Shaun's intrusion, it occurs to you to access another core character. A hostage.

"Oh dear sweet Jesus, we're being held hostage! Please, help!"

You may have overplayed the helpless fisherman, but the intruders buy it.

"Oh good lord, I have a wife..."
"Shit, and today's my last day at sea..."
"Oh my god, have the Chinese taken over..."

> Theo +35 XP
> Level 2: 60/150

They all get to the ground on their knees, one by one, believing you to be victim to Shaun's control.

Shaun asks you something in Chinese, attempting to put on a harsh tone. Your thespian senses don't buy it, but it seems to convince the others.

"Its okay y'all," you tell the rest, while on your knees with your hands behind your head, "I speak Chinese, I can communicate with him."

Shaun says a few words.

"He wants me to bring the rope out and tie you guys up.

Shaun says a few more words.

"He wants you all to empty your pockets and throw it in his direction."

Shaun says a some other words very fast.

"He wants you all to then sit down, back to back, and put your hands behind your back so I can tie you all. I'm so, so sorry."

The grizzled fishermen are fooled enough to dump their wallets, keys, and phones out onto the deck, push it towards Shaun, and comply to being tied up by you. Jimmy and Randy nervously peek from the bridge, confused at what's going on. You're fortunate enough that Shaun had the balls to come out and improv with you.
>>
>>1507250
After you gather all the stolen goods from the fishermen, zip tie their hands, and tape their mouths and eyes shut, you mock calling out that two other Chinamen have come aboard, heavily gesturing at the bridge for Randy and Jimmy to come. They arrive hesitantly, confused at your intentions. You whisper to them both to watch them, and board the other boat, knife in hand.

On the fishing boat, you are disappointed by the lack of good loot. You find a toolbox with a wrench, screwdriver, and a bunch of nuts and bolts. You also find huge caches of food from their storage closet, a stray walkie talkie, a bunch of nets, and a binder you presume to be a record book of daily catches.

> Inventory Added: +$144.85, 3 Bic lighters, 4 packs of cigarettes, 2 packs of gum, a toolbox, +1 week of food, 1 walkie talkie, fishing nets.

Hopping back on board, with the taped up hostages and 1/3 of a Chinese hostage situation, it hadn't occurred to you what to do with the fishermen. No doubt if you kept them alive they would speak with the authorities, but a certain voice in the back of your head objected at any lethal alternatives.

>> Jack the other trawler and dump them at sea.
How much better is their trawler compared to our ship?
>>
>>1507287

>>

You can take their gas tank
>>
>>1507279
>>1507390
Let's do it, take any spare parts they have too. Maybe replace any parts of the ship if theirs in better condition. They'll be stranded out on sea with no fuel. What do the other anons want to do with the hostages?

2. Salvage the ship and leave the captive out on the ship fuelless
>>
>>1507739
>>1507507
Hm...
>>1507739
Salvage the ship then make them walk the plank. They can try climbing back onto their ship later.
>>
You grow giddy at your idea. First, you loot the ship of spare parts, including taking the fuel tank. Then, you gesture over to Jimmy to pick the four fishermen, backed in a bunch on the floor, to stand up. You rip off each of their taped on blindfolds one at a time.

"Ha ha harrr! I've fooled ye ole shipmen! 'Twas I who was the captain of this ole vessel, 'n I who shall send ye down to Davy Jones! Hahaha!"

A combination of laughter, confusion, and anger was muffled through shiny grey tape as Jimmy and Shuan led them forward to the bow. You position your foot up on one of the bunched fisherman's chest.

"Yo ho yo ho! Say hello to old man Neptune when ye get th' chance! Tell him I'll meet 'im with me ole ship when the time be ripe! Tell 'im that ole Captain Theo sent ye! Hahahaha!"

With that, you kick hard, and the four roped, mouth-taped men fall into the ocean. For many minutes, they struggle to get out of their bonds, and once separated, they kick swim towards their ship and yours. Randy makes sure to reverse ship so that only their would be boardable, but with no fuel, they were stuck in the waves, at the mercy of the sea.

You drink some cheap beer with Jimmy and Shaun while you spread your meager loot, laughing in joy with Shaun and mock dancing to Jimmy's tuning of his guitar. You learn through some deduction that due to your taking interest in learning Shaun's language, he sees you less as an acquaintance, and more as a...pretty cool acquaintance.

> Introducing DISPOSITION!
> DISPOSITION is your crew member's view of you. Every crew member starts with NO OPINION, except for Randy who starts at FRIEND
> The scale of DISPOSITION goes (from neg. to pos.): MUTINOUS, UNFAVORABLE, NO OPINION, FAVORABLE, FRIEND

> Shaun finds you now FAVORABLE

Randy marches out of the bridge, atlas under his armpit. He doesn't look happy. You have to parse through his incredibly volatile stuttering to interpret what he said:

"No fuel? The poor fishermen, thats a fate worse than death! It'd be better to slit their throats than leave them at sea to rot! Ugh! And all for subpar loot!"

> Randy finds you now FAVORABLE

Shaun begins to complain wildly about the cheap food you got, and seems to mime wanting some authentic chinese food. Jimmy joins in with what he most misses.

"You know Cap'n, part of the reason I wanted to get away was to share my music with the world! I wasn't able to perform much out of my town, but now we can skip along the coast, and I can have a new audience every day!"

It seems both of your crew members are asking the same thing: A port day. You peek inside, asking your companion navigator for advice. He nervously stutters and you have to translate it once more:

"A port day would be nice, at least I can take my mind off some stuff. If you still care about me, then you should look into the West Coast Merchanting Offices; they're located in a town coming up. If you are able to get some routes and upload it in our laptop, we can predict where merchant vessels go. Yeah, I know it sounds very hard, but it would really help us to loot something better than fucking cigarettes and spare change!"

After a long night and brief hangover, you find your vessel approaching a dock by a hidden beach. From the GPS, you know that the closest town is about half a mile away down the coast.

Randy tells you that the town has the WCM Office where shipping routes are digitally stored. There's also a public beach where many street musicians play, a general store, an 'authentic' Chinese restaurant, and an assortment of beach homes if you're feeling really lucky.

Unfortunately, you tell your crew that one of them must remain on board to make sure the ship is safe. You will leave a walkie talkie to keep track of the ship's status. You look at fidgety Randy, stoic Shaun, and seemingly innocent Jimmy, and decide to leave behind:

Its best not to piss of your navigator at this point, and to be frank its easier to have people who understand you completely, so you tell Shaun that he must stay here and look over the ship. He looks very disappointed, but you tell him you will get him some Chinese food and he nods, eyes like a sad puppy.

You leave him with a walkie talkie and strap up. You carry your knife and plastic gun in Jimmy's duffel bag, while Jimmy carries his guitar, and Randy carries the laptop under his arm. You march forth, a madman in a pirate's outfit leading a gay artist and a nerdy navigator.

Arriving at the town, you get plenty of smiles and laughs. One family asks you to take a picture with them. Then another family comes. Then a couple. Randy has to stamp his shaky foot down and pull you before a line starts to form.

The vibe is smooth and calm. Jimmy seems to get his own rhythm going, and you let him loose at a corner of the boardwalk and a beach. He strings tunes out in the street, like you presume he did before you picked the bum up.

Randy looks up at you, arms waving like a seagull. "W-w-well? What know Cuh-captain Thu-thu-theo?"

You decide to go to the WCM Office. Randy follows you with his laptop. The office faces a lively Mexican restaurant and is flanked by a beach novelty store and some sort of yoga studio.

After an annoying amount of stuttering, you are convinced to take your tricorne hat off and close your coat. You still look off putting with the cotton pants, but stranger fashion's been present in the southwest pacific.

The WCM Office is crowded by many merchant captains. You're unclear whether its the end of the month, the break of summer, or random happenstance that brought these men together. Randy orates the process to you; merchants come in, update a terminal with their recent route as completed, and exit. To many, it acts as a point of sale confirmation that the captain had delivered, and a penalty is delivered on the contract if a delivery is later than the lead time.

You couldn't care less about this. All you want is the routes.

The front desk is cluttered with queues, but a door to the inside of the office guards you from where you imagine the flash drive would be. Randy argues that he should go; after all, he knows where to look. Then again, with your longcoat and seabrazed face you can maybe pass as an employee. How will you get the drive?

Once inside, you pick a direction at random and walk down. You see office nameplates outside rooms, and pick one that you assume possesses what you are looking for: "Maria Santarosa, Logistics Coordinator."

You knock twice like how annoying officemates knock. "Hey Maria? I'm the new guy."

She looks up from her computer. She is a bit confused, but pauses to let you continue.

"Yeah, management wants me to make some charts and numbers.I need the file on the express routes for the year, said I should come see you?"

"Uh, yeah, I can email it to you, what addre--"

"Uh, actually, I need a drive, IT hasn't given me an email yet, haha"

"Oh," she pauses. Shuffling in her desk, she brings out a flash drive and plugs it in. "Cindy wanted this right?" You nod, sure, whatever. You pray she hurries up; the longer you're exposed the more out of place you will seem.

Maria asks you, "what regions did you want?"
