A dull chime resounds through your office. Your eyes slowly open, your vision slowly adjusting to the dim morning light. Your mind is hazy, and your memory unclear.
Probably because you stayed up all night listening to the radio. You look around your dusty, dim and messy office. It was the same as you left it, and it won't change until you, or someone else, gets to cleaning it.

A sigh escapes your lips. Your days are a far cry to the years of your prime, years spent chasing crimes and women. Especially women. But alas, those years are long pass.
Now you sit in a rotting chair, inside a derelict room with air as stale as the graveyards where so many of your colleagues rest after far too many close-calls.

On your desk is a pile of folders, on top are the newest files, consisting of mostly of newspaper clippings. One of them in particular, is very interesting. A Jane Doe, found floating in an estuary, drained of blood. The body lacked all the things that would lead to it being identified, from clothes, down to the last strand of hair. Morbid, but you've seen worse.

You contemplate on your next course of action. There were no cases that urgently needed your attention. Most of the 'cases' you were handling were lost animals, and the occasional wife suspicious of her husband's relationships. You simmer in your thoughts for a good while.

You decide to get out and see if there was something to do outside. You climb out of your creaking leather office chair, your back making a large audible crack. You slowly lumber towards the door, but as you stop by your couch and casually, you pick up your suit and hat donning them on with years of practiced flair.
You move to the door, but you remember to adhere to your personal protocol. You rummage through the items in your various drawers, taking an inventory of whatever it is that you want to be on your person today.

You only have 3 of these on your person.
Chose wisely.

>A Lighter, a gift from an old friend who frequently enticed you to smoke. It is still full with fuel, as you never did take up on his offer.

>A Pocket watch given to you by a lover, her image on it has faded over the years. You still fondly remember her.

>A Fully Loaded Revolver, with 6 bullets in the clip and 3 more to spare. The most practical choice, as the city is dangerous.

>Your notebook, filled with scribbles, and rarely actual crime notes! A pink button is sewed into the cover, a lucky charm given to you by a victim you saved from kidnappers.

>An Antique Paper Knife, inscribed on its blade is 'DEUS LO VOLT', you really never were a religious man, but you are a man of loose wallets.

>Odds and ends. coins, teeth, a clump of dust, some kind of black powder and some cloth cuttings. Not really useful, but local superstition advises you keep these 'odds and ends'
>>
>Who are we?
Smith 'Bones' Porter, a private investigator, with a soft heart for children, a softer heart for women, and an even softer heart for Hard Candy.

>Who are you?
I am your QM. Call me Inazuma.

>What should we expect from this quest?
A lot of things really, I'm still working on it.
>>
>>1525158
>>A Fully Loaded Revolver, with 6 bullets in the clip and 3 more to spare. The most practical choice, as the city is dangerous.
>>
>>1525226
Now that I look back at it, I should had worded that more clearly...
You can pick 3 of the items on the list.
>>
>>1525254
No, totally my bad. Was rushed a little. Let's do Revolver, Notebook and Pocket watch. I dig sentimentality. What caliber is the revolver? 357? 44? 44 is sweet.
>>
>>1525351
Ah. Another thing I forgot to specify. I'll take note of that..
It's a 44 revolver. It packs quite a punch.
I'll wait for another reply or two before I continue.
>>
>>1525364
Quest has it's ups and downs. I dunno what time zone you're in, but sometimes it gets slow.
>>
>>1525676
I know, well, I guess it's just you and me pal. Depressing as it may be, I'm going to continue the quest with just us two, of course you can leave if you want to, but you know.
Eh.

Okay, bringing my notes back up.
Who knows? Maybe writing will generate enough traffic to pull in some people hahaha.
>>
>>1525158
>>A Lighter, a gift from an old friend who frequently enticed you to smoke. It is still full with fuel, as you never did take up on his offer.

I fucking love these quests
>>
>>1525699
Oh I guess to add on to this

>A Fully Loaded Revolver, with 6 bullets in the clip and 3 more to spare. The most practical choice, as the city is dangerous.

>A Pocket watch given to you by a lover, her image on it has faded over the years. You still fondly remember her.
>>
>>1525709
>>1525351
So it's between the Notebook and Lighter Huh?

I'll wait another 15 minutes for someone else, afterwards, I'll roll for it.
>>
Rolled 1 (1d2)

Eh, I guess I'll roll for it.
Rolling
1. Notebook
2. Lighter
>>
>>1525693
>>1525699
Awesome, another player!
>>
>>1525351
>>1525158
>>1525718
>>1525759
2nd, a mix of sentimentality and practicality. We'll still have these items later, so it's no worries if we don't bring them now.
>>1525805
Make that 3.
>>
>>1525814
Sweet. Three now.
>>
>>1525814
I just figured nothing wrong with having a nice reminder of things, while having something useful like the notebook and gun.
>>
>>1525814
>>1525832
Personally I think they can all be practical if we're talking about a detective's trade. Notebook for notes, gun for self-defense, and a pocket watch for time constraints or when we arrive in the nick of time. The revolver's the only straight up practical choice in your list.

You finish rummaging around the various drawers in your office. From them you procure 3 distinct objects.
Firstly, you find your .44 revolver hiding underneath a pile of papers, It's fully loaded, and should be ready in case anyone would dare assault you.
You find your pocket watch next, it rests idly on top of a file cabinet. You flip it open, the warped but beautiful face of your former lover, Barbara, smiling back at you, her eyes twinkling like stars.

And finally, your notebook. It's old, but you know well that its contents help solve many a case. You never felt comfortable without it, and as you have years before, you casually flip through to the latest page, there you find your half-asleep drawings, of men with coins as their heads, marching toward a crypt entrance of some sorts.
...You write a note to remind yourself that you need adequate sleep.

...

You decide that you needed to go out, have a breathe of fresh air, hell, maybe even find a new case to sink your fangs in. With a grunt, you push open the door of your office, once outside you look behind you, and read the letters on the glass. "Porter Private Investigation Agency" It brings back memories, causing you to smile, if only a little.

No, wait. You're getting nostalgic again. You shut the door behind you, making sure that it's tightly locked. Nothing of value may be inside, but you weren't taking your chances. After making sure that your paranoia of becoming a victim of robbery was quelled, your eyes begin to sweep the hallway, for any peculiar details that one might usually miss.

Lo and behold, you see nothing, save for the massive amount envelopes shoved into your mailbox. You begin to sift through them. A few minutes pass, and you're very close to just shoving the pile into a trash bin somewhere, but before you do, one envelope strikes your fancy, on it is one word. Help. There isn't even a return address on it.
Cautiously, you open it. What you find inside is an ancient golden coin, it's features faded and dull, Its only clear detail, an image of-

Choose one.

>A Naked Woman
>A Strange Mask
>A Bent Apple Tree
>A Cracked Mirror
>A Broken Sundial
>Four Waves
>A Sack of Coins

The Coin glows softly.
>>
>>1525853
>>A Strange Mask
we eyes wide shut now boys
>>
>>1525853
>>A Sack of Coins
I don't know, if this is a coin and there're more images of coins in the notes, maybe they're from that organization?
I'm not sure if these symbols represent our challenge, message, or what we should be looking for from the sender.
This prompt remind me of Tarot Quest a while back.
>>
>>1525885
A coin with more coins irks me, even if it works thematically in a way.>>1525871
Gonna second Mask with this Anon. Especially if it goes all King in Yellow.

>A coin with more coins irks me, even if it works thematically in a way.>>1525871
Pshh... You don't want to get a coin with an image of more coins leading to a sack of coins depicting more coins leading to an organization of coins using them as some opaque messaging system centered around coins?

You flip it around a few times, maybe the sender left a clue on the coin, as far fetched as that may be, you've encountered more unbelievable coincidences over the years.

Suddenly, you hear a click, and the coin explodes in a bright light which overpowers your senses. The last thing you see, is the coin slowly melting into your left hand.

Everything you see is a creamy white, your ears burst with a static noise, your pores feel like a million tiny hooks pull on it all at once. You feel despair, contempt... ENVY

Then, everything goes black, your sight and hearing slowly returns to you, but your other senses do not. You feel as if you're floating in a pool, submerged just enough to not break the surface, nor touch the bottom.

Here, you see, a morbid reflection of yourself, nay, a perfect rendition of yourself. You see in this reflection a face of youth, of unparalleled strength. You see in his dark eyes a conviction. To gain everything you desired.
Yet... You feel wrong, disgusted. No being should be as perfect as the one in front of you.

It reaches out its hand. Things glow in the water, something silvery, something rosy and something glittering a brilliant gold.

What do you do?

>Look at the items
>Take its hand

You stare at it as you peacefully swim away, it seems like it doesn't have any intention to follow you, but you get the feeling that it won't let you get out as well.

You swim for quite awhile, but it seems like each meter you gain away from it, it too moves towards you a meter. You aren't a fan of a game of cat and mice.

You look at the glowing items in the black water, It seems like each item followed you as you moved, but no matter, you only cared about getting away from the thing. No matter what kind of titanic effort it took.

After what seems to be like an eternity, you hit something solid, and slowly but surely, your senses return to you. For real this time.

You open your eyes to see...

Darkness. Are you... In a coffin?

What do you do?

>Kick it open and start shotting everything that moves.
>Calmly contemplate on your lack of luck this day.
>Scream like a little girl and hope for the best.
>Write-in

The mark on your left hand glows. It seems like it's reacting to something nearby...

The mark on your left hand glows. It seems like it's reacting to something nearby...

Calmly, you kick it open, and slowly reel in the sights before you. You are in a crypt. How unusual for a coffin to be in a crypt. You sigh at the situation. You wish you had gone to bed last night, or you should had
gone home for the night, safe and sound, away from all the things that are happening to you right now, Maybe you would even be enjoying a nice, warm shower if you hadn't-
Okay. Take deep breaths. You're just exhausting yourself.

...A few moments later, you are calm as you can be. You notice that the mark on your hand is still glowing dimly. And in the meantime, you took note of your immediate area. There two more coffins a few meters away from you, one was rotten away, and if you squint, you see the bones of the one resting here.
The second one, you aim your revolver at. Something thrashes and churns inside. "It's probably a rat" You think to yourself. The churning stops. Soon, you pull yourself out of the coffin you're in.

Something tells you that you aren't alone in this place. A guttural feeling in your gut. It's almost like the feeling you got from the being before. You turn back, to see...

A skeleton.

>>1526161
Hey there. Looking a little stiff.

Oh well, that's all for me folks.
I'm not feeling very well now, and my writing is taking a hit from it.
Eh, well, uhm.
You can find me at

I'll try to find a nice time to run, sometime around 5-9 AM UTC.
So yeah.
I'm really sorry.
I'm open to any criticism though.
I love you guys for staying with me, even if I'm such a small QM.
>>
>>1526161
>Hey freak, I'm not looking to get bones today

Then try to run or retreat somewhere
>>
>>1526178
Sounds promising so far QM, feel better
>>
>>1526178
No worries man. I'll be sure to follow.
>>
>>1526194
Just a bit of a coughing fit, nothing really serious.
Well, It hampers my writing but you know, it happens.
>>1526217
Thanks man, You're my first player.
Such an honor to have you.
>>
>>1526225
The honor is mine. Was raised on noir detective films and westerns. I think Quest needs some cool detective stuff.
>>
>>1526236
Will work on it, In fact, If I didn't end it now, We'll probably be there by now.
Also, anyone of you know how to archive?
I have no idea on how...
>>
>>1526178
>>1526225
This looks like an interesting spin on detective quests, I'll follow too. I'd suggest you also post on /qtg/ whenever you're running, or the projected times of the next thread.

>>1526236
There's been a number of them, but they're all ded.

>>1526247
No need to archive yet, threads last 3 days, 750 posts, or 250 images before they're no longer bumped.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/requestqstinterface.html?
Here's the most popular way to archive a quest.
>>
>>1526259
Exactly. Which is why I'm hoping this one sticks around.
>>
And Archived.
>>1526259
>>1526270
Thanks you two. I promise I'll try my best to stick around, although I'll be busy with my own work and classes, I'll try to run 2-3 times a month. Of course There'll be times when there are more/less of them.

I'll also try to improve on the detective parts of the quest. I just really need to establish the fantasy setting first before I get to investigating crime, since I plan the coins to be something important...

...Thanks guys.
>>
>>1526296
Again, no worries. Balance it how you like. You have my attention sir.
