~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are now searching the area around your new home for the time being, a ruined tomb that had once been the religious sanctuary to a demon worshiping cult known as the Children of the Abyss.
14+5=19
Not much is found, though you do find the graves have recently been distrubed then reburied. Graverobbers must be a common occurance within the graveyard.
You also manage to find a hill that gave you good vantage point over a part of tyhe city, allowing you to see various manors and high end shopping districts nearby.
You also manage to see what appears to be a large park with cages just south of the graveyard.
Your searching done, you return to the shrine, only to find the fairy hiding around 15 feet up, just under the ceiling in the corner. She had created a sort of hammock like bed, and was hiding within as the plague rat snarled and hissed as it tried to claw its way up the wall to her. It was about half way up.
It would be awesome if we could transform into a human, so that we can take full advantage of our infinite supply of gold, which is why I suggest:
So, potential agenda items:
First, get that rat to stop harassing Salila.
Second, some sort of meal? Find out what Salila likes to eat.
Third, maybe get cleaned up a bit? We've been running around in the sewers a ton. Salila too.
Fourth, practice flesh shift on animals so that we can maybe conceal our demonic features, at least from the casual observer. Being able to walk around a bit more openly would be very useful.
The rat then begins to his and charges at you, you now realizing you can't hear it's thoughts anymore.
You push out your han to dominate the rats mind, insulted that it would dare to try and harm you. Your head was then bitten into by the rat, diseased ooze and maggots falling onto the wound. The pain is immediatly apparent, as it stings your very blood.
[You have been poisoned! take six damage periodically. Since you heal 5 hp periodically, you lose 1 hp periodically.]
The rat then let go and rears back, ready to attack once more.
" Skúta!" Screamed the Fairy from above, and compression wave of sound smashing into the rat and smashing it against the ground, stunning it. The fairy looked winded now, panting as they use of the word.
You smash your opened palmed hand into the rat, sending it flying into a nearby wall. The slash of your claws and the impact of stone hurt the creature greatly, and it falls to the ground with an open wound on its skull. It's barely standing now as it tries to look at you.
You stomp your foot down on its head, splattering it's skill and gray matter across the stone floor. It's body twitches and clawed the floor, before collapsing and going still.
You let out a disappointed sigh, having wanted to keep that minion a bit longer. You shrug then look up to the fairy, whose looking down at your with awe. "Do you eat?" You ask, feeling the rats that you had consumed days ago finally running their course, and the gnawing of hunger once more beckoning you.
The fairy nodded "uh, yes. The Fae can eat. Though, most mundane food is very bland to us." She said, slowly coming out of her hiding place and flying down to you.
You nod, though having no real preference yourself you have noted that the flesh in this world tends to lack the spice of magic like the scraps you had managed to find in the Abyss. Cooking with magical fire helped a little, but only barely.
"Well we'll be trying to find food soon. Of course, there's a large list of things we need to deal with. First of all, how do you Fae grow in power? Are you like the mortals and devote yourself to a class, or are you a monster Whose form shifts?"
The fairy thought for a second, and spoke "Well, I'm rather young, only a few hundred years old. But I remember my sister cacoooning herself for a few days, and coming out a Brownie. She would scream for hours just to try and annoy me." She said, seeming to be reminiscing, she then pointed a finger up as she remembered "oh yes, and my 3rd cousin dedicated himself to being an archer for the Fae lord of our land. So I think we can do both?" She said, unsure it seemed.
So I see a lot of talk about turning our fey slave into a necromancer but I would think we could corrupt her and make her demonic, imagine a corrupted fairy, a truly evil fey that has no morals sure she could learn some necromancy but I don't really see any point in her becoming a commander type, that's our gig. She should learn how to use fire, the art of lying and suggestion, trickery (like getting people to pledge fealty to us) I foresee her being an assistant of sorts, she isn't really fighty anyways.
Thinking of a new project seeing as we need to get something new going, what if say we got our fey to find some kids playing in the local woods and have her offer them gifts, learn about them, become a porly kept secret, then one day on "present party day" we could corrupt/sacrifice/make a cult out of them, we got the prince book right? The fey could maybe say something like... "it is the great prince zeldran's (names form that book right?) birthday and he needs Guests
You quickly find a stream moving through the cemetery. As you explored it, you've come to realize the place was very well maintained. The grass was well trimmed, and the grave were kept clean and undamaged. It was a truley high class graveyard, and the stream with a bridge going over it only helped the scenery be calm and pure.
Of course, once you started bathing within the water, with the fairy a little way up obscured by the bridge, the sewerage and dirt that clung to your body.
[You take one damage from the poison]
You wonder as your bit early wound stings, looking at the flesh and noting the blackened veins that were going out from the wound. You dip your arm into the water and scrub at the wound, wincing slightly at the pain as you saw blackened blood and ooze deep from your wound. It doesn't help, taking your arm out you only see that you cleaned the wound yet still could feel a slight burn from beneath it as the poison ate at you.
[at 67 hp]
Eventually, you finish your bath and exit, the sun now rising above the horizon and the sounds of activity picking up in the surrounding city.
The fairy ran from where she was, back in her cloth but her wings dropping wet, and stood at your feet, staring up at you with a smile and a clean face.
You enter the tomb, sniffing out the lanterns light before opening the tomb door and moving deeper in. The Fairy was behind you, her wings now dry allowing her to hover behind your shoulder.
You hear a voice deeper down, they sound excited. Their torch light is growing brighter each time you turn a corner. You are nearing them.
"Grandfather, I know you disowned me...b-but now I can reclaim our status! I can invest in some adventurers, or some new technology. Maybe start up a business. I aware to your grandfather, with this gold, the Herendel name will rise again." The voice said. It was Daimler, but you weren't sure who it was. It was a man for sure, sounded young.
He was around the corner, and you could hear him continue to talk to the likely dead grandfather.
Read your suggestion again. You are suggesting an equal exchange and a growth in power for him, for some low-life nobody servant. The things you offer should be offered to an established noble wanting to grow his power.
I'm not against throwing some scraps towards him but we shouldn't do the same mistake we did before. A rat sized lump of gold is A LOT. We should have thought better before giving him so much gold.
>>1682640
>Read your suggestion again. You are suggesting an equal exchange and a growth in power for him, for some low-life nobody servant. The things you offer should be offered to an established noble wanting to grow his power.
He IS an established noble. Just an disgraced one you fool.
Fact is that if we offered this to an actual rich man our position is diminished since they don't need our help anywhere near as much.
>I'm not against throwing some scraps towards him but we shouldn't do the same mistake we did before. A rat sized lump of gold is A LOT. We should have thought better before giving him so much gold.
Like fuck it is this is fantasy world 101. He gets that much gold and he can do a fair bit but he's not suddenly richer than the mayor of the city or something.
>>
>>1682652
>He IS an established noble. Just an disgraced one you fool.
He is a lowly servant boy. By established noble, I mean an actual recognized noble who commands some respect. They lost their noble status and we don't even know how high on the hierarchy they were.
Don't fucking offer that slimebag anything. He betrayed us once, he should be happy we didn't gut him the moment we saw him.
>>
>>1682605
Have him bind to the chains of the tyrant in exchange for promised power and riches, as well as his life. He knows what we're capable of, and we can use both the carrot and the stick.
>>
>>1682661
The idea is we offer something to get him to make the oath. It has to be willingly and truthfully, so forcing them through violence won't work. Coercing them through greed, however, will.
You grab hold of Isaacs neck, tanking him away from the door he had tried to grab onto. He began to kick his legs wildly, trying to pull your fingers away from his neck.
The fairy seem to be trying to hide a wicked smile as she watched your choke the man.
Isaac let out a couple gurgles, trying to say something with what air he could spare.
The tips of Isaacs fingers began to change to gold, and it was spreading up his arm slowly. The man fought with all his might, you feeling his will fighting against yours and holdings it's ground.
His eyes glared at you, his face turning purple as your grip stayed tight around his neck. With surprising determination, the servant spoke "I am...Isaac Herendel...last of my line, and I will not break to you...Demon." He said through gritted teeth, swinging his whole lower body towards your gut.
Success
The feet slam into your gut, and you almost release the man from the blow, but you quickly regain your composure and focus on the near unconscious man, his limbs becoming completely golden in a rapid fashion, and rendering the man properly handicapped and unable to move on his own.
His eyes were rolling back behind his eye lids and his face was a deep purple.
Releasing your grip, you drop your helpless prey to the ground, staring as he pants for air and weakly tries to move his limbs and failing.
Strings of flesh shoot across Isaacs mouth, the man letting out a scream as his mouth partially began to fade away beneath writhing flesh and stretching skin. [Several hours later]
[Flesh shift I replaced with Flesh Shift II]
An unholy mass of writhing flesh, gold, and scared eyes stared back at you. Isaac's gaze was cold and dead inside, still physically alive but having stopped making noises awhile ago.
Salila was around the corner, doing something with magic and seeming to finally be enjoying herself now that the noises had stopped.
And in a snap, Isaac is no more. Whatever he had been, a servant or a noble, he was nothing but gold now. You use your magic to heat the gold and reshape it to a much easier to store shape.
Now having a brick of gold as high as you knees, you turn to investigate Salila's activities, only to see several humanoid shaped dolls wobbling around autonomously. They were made from shards of clay, bone, stone, and other materials.
Salina seemed to be beeming "Master, I think I'm getting the hang of my new spell!" She said, one of the doll falling over and breaking apart.
You lean down and pat Salila on the head gently, receiving a surprised look from the fairy "Good job. Keep up the work, maybe see if you can make some dolls out of a more sturdy material, like gold or something." You say, turning and walking towards the exit.
Salalia lifts off the ground and follows you, her dolls shambling behind her trying to keep up.
Out side the sun is on its way down, likely the mid afternoon now. You really lost track of time training with Isaac.
Your potential ally must already be in the city, though where you can't say for sure. The vision was vague, only showing you who and nothing else. It was rather frustrating to say the least.
You hear a group of people walking through the cemetary, spotting them down a hill. They couldn't see you peaking from the tomb, to caught up in their own conversation. They seemed to be teens, peasants from the state of their dress. One f them ran up and jump kicked a grave stone, knocking it over andf earning the laughs of his peers.
There was also another person, a woman you couldn't see for sure with a white parasol, standing between you and the teens. She was also watching the teens, twirling her parasol idly.
One of Salila's dolls, one made of bones and dead rat, charged out of the tomb, waddling towards the woman without abandon. Salila gasped and lowered herself to the ground, running after her creation in a panic while trying to stay low and out of sight.
"But master, if they see my doll, they might discover us." She said, taking another step after the doll.
"Nevermind that, if you're discovered we'll definitly get in trouble. Now let things progress as they are." you say, watching Salila fly over to you.
The Doll waddles over to the woman, bumping into the back of her leg clumsily, before looking up to her as she turns to stare at it. Bending down, she picks up the doll, and examines it, before smiling and turning her gaze up towards the tomb.
You and the woman lock eyes, and immediatly you feel something within her.
Your kind has always owed its existance to she who sleeps, for she was the mother of the first demons. Creatures that could delve into dreams and make nightmares reality, who constructed the first Demon circle to break open the wall between the mortal world and the Abyss. From there, more wives and concubines were taken by your unholy father, who fathered more and more demons.
She who sleeps is family to you, to all demon kind. This woman's eyes, they are those of the sleeping mother. She was a sibling, one of the powerful undead. Where dream demons came to join your father in his war, you had a second pair of sibling that came from the first brood.
These beings owed more of themselves to the sleeping queen then the Abyssal father, but demon blood flowed through them none the less. Where the dream demons were hunted to extinction, they disappeared into the masses unseen, and often forgotten until to late.
The night stalkers, the waking nightmares, nosferatu, or more infamously known: Vampires.
Your eldest of sisters stared back at you, smiling in such a way that you swore would cause the Arch-Daemons to shiver. This being, this monster that was the elder to even your most ancient of demonic siblings, walked towards you carrying the doll like a infant.
Salila must have sensed maybe a fraction of what you saw, and retreated further into the tomb to try and hide away.
The vampire soon stood before you, looking straight at your despite you being the taller being, and spoke in a velvety smooth voice with the confidence of ages.
"Hello little brother, I hope you weren't waiting long."
"Oh aren't you polite." She said, gesturing to be let in and you obliging her. She walked into the tomb and looked around, listening to you as you asked your questions.
"Oh of course. The middle child, you know him as the Arch-Daemon of pride, requested I provide some aide. He of course tried to command me, but he seems to understand now how little control he has outside the abyss." She said with a smile, glancing over to the hiding Salila, her smile turning predatory. "You bought a favor from him, and I am his end of the bargain. Of course, I wonder how well this arrangement will go for me..." she said, walking over and looming of Salila, the fairy shaking as she looked up at the woman "Such a cute little pet you have here, reminds me of one I used to have before it was stolen."
The vampire closed her parasol, then brought the tip down to Salila. With gentle precision, she lifted the fairy's frightened chin, and looked Salila in the eyes. "Oooh, you already have your chains around her. How easy she must have been, so innocent and pure, only for a mean old Fiend to come up and take her for his own." she turned back to you with a smile, tucking the parasol under her arm and leaving Salila stunned. She clapped her hands and smiled excitedly "Oh I missed this family fun, it's been so long since my last encounter with father's side of the family."
She was suddenly right infront of you, inches from your face. She was in the air, hovering so she could look you straight in the eye, at a downward angle even. "Now brother, what an I do to help you? I'm in town for various things, but doing some favors for family shouldn't be to troublesome." She said, her tone hungry and her eyes flashing red.
"No that should suffice, along with the materials."
"Right right. Well all of that should be easy. I should have it by tomorrow afternoon. Which gives you plenty of time to do something for me."
Sitting yourself in the flames, you close your eyes and lower your head. The process goes about its stages, before you open it and have your ears filled with coins dropping.
Mammon sits before you, but there is another creature, smaller then he. It was a veiled form, feminine in what you could gather from the few detail you could make out. Mostly it's thin frame.
Instead of spending your coins, your hand grasps the white bag.
The coins stop falling, and Mammon retracts his hand. Grab a large pile of coins, he pours them behind the feminine figure, who disappears with their spoils. Then Mammon stares at you, a glare in his eyes.
"I warned you, and now you have cost me my earnings." He said, his hand forming a fist and slamming down on you with a roar of rage.
You shoot up, awake and in a pile of cinders that had only recently burnt out. Little animated dolls of baying sizes and construction ran around, cleaning the tomb and working together to move larger materials.
Salila sat on a rock carried by dolls, working her magic on a doll that was made of roots, stones, and apparently a child's ball. A smiley face had been drawn on it. It was easily twice the size of the other dolls, almost her two feet in height.
The white bag refs in your laps, and Mammon's anger still rang in your ears.
With a sigh, you stand from the fire and stretch your limbs, then stared down at the bag. It had a gold string keeping it closed, that seemed to glow in the faint light of the tomb. With little effort, you remove the string, and the contents are revealed to you.
Glowing your palms, ready for your use, was a silver Orb that hovered over your hands. A soft humming was coming from within, and it cast its silvery light across the room. A sense of dread filled you as you looked at it, but it was quickly sniffed out by your conscious mind.
"What's that master?" Salila asked, flying up and looking at the Orb. She started to reach out to touch it.
Salila pressed her hand up against the orb, and jumped back when a large cracked broke into existance around the orb. Black light shined out from the fissures in the orb, then the black light became a solid shadowy mass that shot out and grabbed Salila. She let out a scream as she was pulled back to the orb and forced up against it. Black ooze began to seep from the cracks and crawl toward the fairy, who was panicking and thrash as best she could as the shadowy tendrils wrapped firmly around her.
The ooze lifted up a little from the surface of the orb, before forming a thorn like point and stabbing into the fairy's flesh. She let out a scream "Master!" Before more ooze shot out and covered her face, silencing her.
The ooze was beginning to engulf her.
With a roar, you rip the fairy from the orb, the ooze ripping and flailing as it was ripped apart. A good chunk of the slime ripped away from Salila, though some still remained.
The fairy's body moved slowly, the slime making it difficult to move. Then her arm, covered in slime, snapped and appeared to be broken against the joint. A scream came from Salila, the ooze around her mouth quickly sinking into her mouth and muffling the noise. The ooze on the faorycwas still spreading, and seemed to be putting more force and strain on Salila's limbs.
Salila looked up to you, horror and tears in her eyes and the slime continued to spread over her.
You call upon the winds to play over the fairy, watching slime fly off and peel from Salila's flesh. The wind ends before it's all gone, and the ooze begins to force Salila in a fetal position, engulfing her entirely. Snaps and breaks can be embraced within the ball, the muffled screams ending as the ooze ball tightens and crushes Salila.
Before anything can be done, a black orb of Ooze the size of your hand rests in your palms, silent and unmoving. It wasn't moving, meaning Salila's struggles had stopped.
Then the orb began to fidget and convulse wildly, stretching and slowly changing color from black to a dull dark yellow,
As the color continued to shift, the orb began to stretch and mold itself into a humanoid form, sounds of confusion and distress being heard within.
The ooze keeps stretching, and continues to mold itself. Legs sprout and form, as well as arms reaching out for somehing to grab. A head formed with a massive hanging from its back.
Thin wings shot out from its back, fluttering and lifting the slimey form up into the air as he body became more detailed and the face formed.
Before your eyes, a new creature appeared before you. A mix of Fae and Slime, it looked up to you with Salila's eyes, and seemed confused a bit.
"M-master? What happened?" The creature said, salila's voice mixed with some unknown voice to make an unsettling duel sound come out.
She hovered above your hand, her skin slowly dripping like Slime, though never ending even if small droplets fell from her.
Salila seemed to brighten up, looking over her body "I evolved? What did I change into?" She asked, excitedly examining herself, then noticing the slime "Wait, I fused with it?"
She was silent, then looked to you, her eyes flashing gold briefly "W-what does this mean?"
You shake your head "I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. Do you know if anything had changed?"
Salila seems to ponder her form, and tries moving her arms and throwing them around, but she retains her shape and nothing happens. "I feel like I can do stretchy things like how slimes do, but I donut know how to do them...and I hear whispers...in the back of my mind..." she said, slowly looking over your shoulder with wide eyes.
You turn around, and just as you felt the wounds in your hand close up, you let out a scream as you felt your soul rent asunder.
[Healed five damage, received ten spirit damage. WARNING spirit damage cannot be healed by regeneration]
You open your eyes from the pain, and stare up at the creature before you. It was massive, standing eight feet tall and dwarfing you as it loomed over your form. It's shadowy limbs seemed to grab every source of light it could and snuff it out, tendrils reaching for you. To glowing blue eyes shone through the darkness beneath its hood.
The air instantly began to drop in temperature, and frost began to spread from the ground beneath the ghostly creature, rapidly covering the stone in Ice as swirls and fractals formed.
Mist poured from where the creature's mouth should have been, falling to the ground and pooling like a thick miasma of cold.
Salila began to shake, her breath Visible as she stared at the creature. Lines of blue began to form on her body, starting from her eyes and spreading in eldritch patterns over her body.
The spirit leaned forward, and spoke with a voice that reactivated the fear you felt as an Imp when your elder sibling came searching for a meal. "Where is the Necrobitch?"
In a flash, you create a small spark of fire and then shout to the world. The shade lifts up its bladed hand to attack once more, then received a burst of fire against its full body.
The ghost didn't release a sound, the flames eating away at its form.
[Dealt 10 damage to the enemy]
The enemy was pushed back a bit, before he lowered his arms and the fire disappeared from his head. The eyes glew red, and the creature began to let out a sound that quickly rose in volume to be an unholy screech that shook the ground. Before it could become ear plaiting, a black and orange streak of spikes flew at the shades face, shutting it up and tearing prices of its form off.
[Salila has done five damage to the ghost]
