You are the Courier. National Leader. Husband and father. And now, supreme military commander of the forces of the Pheonix Commonwealth of America as you set your sights on the conquest of the Divide, a harsh and unforgiving region of rubble and angry corpses yet laden with precious steel and resources. As you seek to set your right of conquest, the Marked Men fight a battle of survival or annihilation and intend to make you bleed for every inch of this cursed city.

You order your forces to begin a light probing attack, meanwhile you yourself in your restored alien UFO will attempt to clear the mines from the streets, before drenching yourself in some captured ooze scraped from the bodies of marked men who seemingly manage to walk through the tunnelers unharmed.

Updated the book thoughts from the last thread + new Executor propaganda piece

>Why the American way of life? What defines America or being an American.
The original American way of life was one of hard work, equal opportunity and the feeling that you wanted the life of your children to be better than your own. People would come from all over the world so that they could each live out their own version of the "American Dream" In this day and age, that may seem like fanciful thinking but we are making the old American dream a reality. We seek to imbue within our citizens a desire for continuous improvement and refinement of body, mind and moral strength.

If you happen to be reading this book, and you feel down on your luck, or that your safety is in question, or if you want a better life for yourself or your children - feel free to come visit and take in the sights. Our nation has a place for you, so long as you are willing to put in the work to make it your own.

>What is your model of government and why do you support it:
An Enlighted Representative Dictatorship in which the Courier presides over the nation for life as its sole ruler with supreme power. This model allows for long-term strategic planning, short-term decision making and provides a mechanism by which the voice of the people is conveyed.

Our task of governance is supported by a number of elected officials. As our nation gets larger, local elections will be held for town Mayors - when a town has enough population for its own Construction / CIV action. Supervising Mayors would be civilian Regional Governors, who we would appoint personally. The Mayor would appoint his own Sheriff and would be in charge of the town’s police forces, the Governor would be in charge of the National Guard for his region.

Each region would elect a minimum of 2 Senators (more allocated based on population to a max of 10) who would sit under us in a national legislature in New Washington. They would work to draft laws. These are not voted on, but are submitted to the Executor who decides whether to enact them or not.

>Thoughts on the Old World? On the New World?
The old world had its flaws. Some citizens among my nation were even alive to see it. The resource wars that ended up with the world we know today, the corruption of the corporations, the inside politics. The old world America, had its ups and downs and eventually the faults won the day, but there is a lot to be learned and replicated. That's why I gave our nation the symbol of the phoenix. We aren't just the old America coming to life again, we are a new America that has learned the mistakes of the past, and seek to better ourselves going forward.

>Your thoughts on the factions of the wasteland:
- The Enclave started out with the highest ideals centred around the restoration of America in this new world. However, over time this grand dream was twisted and perverted due to poor leadership. The Enclave lost sight of their goal as their leadership determined that the majority of wastelanders were lost – as opposed to being lost sheep yearning for a strong guiding hand. It is my belief that the Enclave was simply misguided. Their soldiers were just following orders, and their officers chafed under a system of poor political leadership – thereby rending them unable to explore new paths.
- The NCR is embarking on the same path as the old Enclave – too focused on ‘racial purity’ and ‘superiority’. This can be seen in their interactions with the tribes. They have lost sight of the American Dream of shared opportunity and prosperity and instead can only picture a world in which a Californian soldier stamps out freedom in the name of purity and order.
- While Rome was an enviable superpower, her time has long since passed. The Legion are backward in seeking to return to these pre-tech times, times during which simple medical ailments were often fatal. This and their genocidal practices render them poor custodians of our shared future.
- The MLA are merely trumped up raiders and radicals, unwilling and unsuited to lead a true united nation.
- BOS tried to aid the wasteland and often succeeded. They should be respected for helping to defeat many threats over the years and for preserving pre-war knowledge and technology. However their hate for outsiders and for general nation building often resulted in their defeat as they were outpaced by the growth of others.

>Some life experiences you've had throughout the Mojave:
- Talk about Mr House and his capitalist ‘paradise’ of New Vegas – a divided society which accepted the poverty of the masses as long as the wealthy elite were appeased
- Talk about our adventure in the Divide, and how we became inspired to forge the PC by looking at the dream that was Hopeville

>Our views on family, community and relationships:
Why do so many communities put the enormous pressure of raising children in this burnt and scarred world on two people? The respect that I have for those who are able to shoulder this burden is enormous, but situation is not common America today for a variety of reasons. Many ‘new’ states search for a new family model, or desperately try and make an old model work – ignoring the new realities of our world. In doing so, they forgo something which has proven to work. The tribal family unit renders every man and woman a distant cousin, every resident a source of support in times of trouble, in times of struggle. A common people, a common goal – an America in which her citizens are bonded not only by blood, but by the phoenix and stripes, tied and taut between every man, woman and child. For those who wish to have their life defined only by their children and spouse than it is their decision, but they can breathe easier knowing that for anything they need help with, everyone will welcome them with open arms.

As our nation is founded on the promise of equal opportunity, is should flow naturally that men and women should be given equal rights and privileges. By granting this power to individuals, our government empowers them to enter and leave relationships as they so choose. While our government takes no stance on sexual orientation – it should be universally understood that procreation and child raising are the moral duty of each and every citizen if we are to reclaim our true birthright – a unified America.

Maybe add something about helping each other do it too, feed into that whole community thing some more.
>>
>>1756517
I won't copy everything out again, but I am fine with this expansion.

Generally supportive of the rest?
>>

>>
>>1756520
Agreed on my part.

Now should we begin outlining another section of the book. Perhaps get that group of scientists who are figuring out our new economic system to help us discuss that? Maybe discussing our overall military beliefs? We could attempt to outline if we are going to be going "wipe the slate clean" or "we remember" in regards to actions performed before joining the Phoenix.

Hey QM, is what >>1756505 Says about the Enclave true? Did the Soldiers not know they were preforming Genocide?
>>
>>1756524
Thanks for reminding me, that entire section sounds horrifyingly wrong to me compared to what I wrote the first time round.

It makes no mention of them being raised in isolation and only knowing what their leaders would allow them about the wasteland for example.

>>1756529
If you can write another version i can make another book thought post with it.
I'll also be removing that small piece about open relationships, it really bothers me.

It was generally agreed that we'd want the government to stay out dictating relationships beyond encouraging procreation. Happy to hear your alternative suggestion though.

>Economic system / past history of new citizens
Both very worthy topics of discussion.

I'd say let the scarcity followers outline their ideas to us and we can add them in. As to citizens past, I think it should be on a case-by-case basis.

>>1756529
Yeah my bad, that is a solid addition r.e. isolation leading to brainwashing by their political elite.

>It was generally agreed that we'd want the government to stay out dictating relationships beyond encouraging procreation. Happy to hear your alternative suggestion though.
My only problem is the bit about open relationships
>By granting this power to individuals, our government empowers them to enter and leave relationships as they so choose.
I think we should remove it, and it leaves the rest of the post fine so we don't have to rewrite it.

If those orders meant some people had to die for the survival of our country, we took them in stride. Anyone who was brave or stupid enough to take on one of us in our power armors deserved what they got.

Our plan was to make America great again, clean of raiders and scum. If that meant accepting harsher methods we did them. It ain't no different from us having to get rid of these Marked Men in our way.

It was war. . ."

"The Enclave were a failed dream: a true continuation of the american government of the old world and true, pure, humans untainted by radiation. It's the oldest defence of the soldier. "I followed my orders", like a child saying that it's not their fault they did the bad thing: they were told to by someone they were to obey.

It's the problem with modern soldiers. We've gotten too good at making them obey their orders like clockwork men.

And that is indeed the excuse claimed by many Enclave personnel captured after the war.

However, during the Los Angeles trials by the NCR this did not hold up. Surviving Enclave personell who were captured were tried and convicted of Conspiracy to Genocide with mounting evidence of wiped out villages, engaging in slavery and abduction, and a supposed plan to unleash a virus that would kill all non-pure humans. Most enclave remnants flatly refuse these claims.

But from what you've heard of Doc Henry, it actually sounds credible.

>>
>>1756557
So its important that we include the clause that our soldiers are to not obey orders that are illegal.
>>
>>1756557
It is not a problem with the soldiers - it is a problem with leaders who order them to commit immoral actions.

You cannot have an effective military if individual soldiers can decide if they want to follow some orders and not others.

Strict chain of command exists for a reason/. Unfortunately, unethical leaders can abuse that.
>>
>>1756563

True which is why the soldiers must be able to declare their superiors unfit for leadership or something. That or we need to have a moral maintenance group or something.
>>

Eh, it's not like the Remnant wouldn't know about what their fellows tried to do and shit. I can see your point but still. We can give them a copy and explain that we've moderated it for distribution to anywhere in the wasteland so some of it, like their section.

As to the moral leadership, I understand and agree but we aren't probably going to be dealing with situations where war crimes might occur any time soon.

"Personally I'd almost call it an insult if the single redeeming quality is simply to say 'at least we aren't the Legion!'. And no, I am very concerned about what Yaunker proposes in his book as well. We can be better than that.

In any case the Enclave was decades ago, if there are any survivors they're either chidren raised away from Navarro like me or aged like the Devil's Brigade.

I was surprised to have seen the Enclave from the east. But if they are anything like the Enclave in California were, anything that isn't a complete white wash of 'righteous American obedience' won't please them.

I'm actually concerned myself. I can only hope they have a stronger moral code than the Enclave of Navarro, but it seems all too likely, they don't."
>>
>>1756583
"They chose to evacuate rather than face down against their enemies, so they are at least less insane. I think they can be convinced of this compromise given time."
>>
>>1756578
We'll the leaders in the Remnant might know, but as we talked about above, the common soldier probably has no idea. It's bad internal and external PR for them basically.

I'd tone it down to something like this:
>The Enclave represented a dream which ultimately failed. They were the true continuation of the american government of the old world and we're true, pure, humans untainted by radiation. Yet this fact is also their downfall, as the Enclave's political leaders - isolated in their oil rig - decided that the people of the wastes had abandoned the idea of America. This fact, coupled with the existance of vicious raiders and militant super mutants, drove them to embark upon a course of violence which ultimately led to their own destruction.
>But it must be noted that the people of the Enclave, the soldiers and scientists on the ground who escaped the destruction of the Oil rig, were just following orders and had no insight into the shadowy plans of their political leaders.
>These survivors, who the NCR so ruthlessly hunted down, can't be blamed for the actions of their leaders. Can't be held responsible for the actions of the deceased few who led them and brainwashed them in isolation and controlled all they knew of the wastes. In spite of their leader's desires, many acted in the interests of the wasteland - such as one Doctor's attempt to reverse the radiation's effects on human genetics. However their leaders saw to snub this project out in due time.
>>
>>1756583
So Arcade is saying "don't talk about the enclave"?
>>
>>1756587
No. That doesn't read right.

Between the fact it places the blame on the people of the wastes for "abandoning america" and it lacking the entire section placing blame on the leadership and their isolation rather than on the people.

>>1756590
Essentially. We can keep it as a unreleased section or something or wait to release this until we've gotten the Remnants in hand.
>>
>>1756590
Problem is, the enclave would be the first or second thing we're compared to, with the NCR being the other, so we have to differentiate ourselves actively to avoid being painted by the "genocide" brush.
>>
Why not open up the Enclave discussion to all of our enclave remnants QM. More opinions we have, we may be able to make a better decision.
>>
>>1756594
That is true.
>>
>>1756590
Quite the opposite. If the Enclave have to be talked about, it seems he's rather be honest about them. Not paint them as devils, but they were definitely not saints either. He does warn though that your hardliner like Moreno and the actual Enclave are probably not going to like it very much.

If anything though, he seems like he'd prefer the Pheonix Commonwealth to be the Enclave's redemption.
>>
>>1756591
Well I said that the leaders were isolated and decided that people had left America, not that it was actually true.

It's to paint the old Enclave leadership as out of touch with reality - separating them from the common soldiers.

I don't think we should hype up the 'brainwashed' angle, as that'll play badly with the remnant.

It may be safer to say nothing about the Enclave at this point...especially as they are not a majot faction and most people think that they're extinct anyway.

You proceed to clear a path through the magnetic minefield, using your abducto-ray to pick up and drag large pieces of scrap metal on the ground detonating the mines and causing swaths of explosions. For added measure you strafe the ground with your heat ray as well.

As you get close to the city itself however, the Marked Men open fire on you from behind thick scrap barrier and fortifications.

Bullets and small laser arms plink against your craft. Not dangerous at all, but letting them frivolously hit you is a bad idea. However what really makes you turn back is a hit by an RPG and a heavy Plasma rifle, dangerous projectiles whiz by your craft. The ship reports a hit. You got cocky, and withdraw with light damage, but not before hosing them down with a splash of Heat Ray lighting swaths of marked men aflame and watching them dance and fail and fall over into corpses, and you follow up with a tactical mini-nuke that blows a hole clean through their wall and opening up a path into the city.

Your forces move forward, thus far no additional tunneler attacks are spotted.

Sentry-Shield Juggernauts lead the way followed by the MKV Hazard Bots, forming an impressive walking shield of heavy armor and lead which soaks up the Marked Men's massed fire. Here any again an RPG or a heavy Plasma strike hits them, only to be met with fearsome volleys of massed Securitron Rockets and then the terror of the Hazard Bastion Bots opening up with their heavy Gatling cannons.

The Marked Men take what cover they can behind their scrap wall, but all too often the massed autocanon fire punches through and turns their bodies into paste.

What's more, your Incendiary artillery now comes to good effect here, launching shells behind their wall burning yet more of them, while your UFO also fires its heat ray above your robots head from a distance.

As you close in, the rest of your robots lay down whithering fire of yet more gatling lasers and the new LAER bots. Napalm, electricity, lasers, and plasma pour in a concentrated arc of death directly on the Marked Mens walls like an unstoppable juggernaut.

The Marked Men withdraw from their wall and pull back deeper into the city.

Ah yes a wave of steel wearing down our enemies like a river-stone.

Seriously now all we need is the drones (which we received no input on) and we can have a true wall of death.

Your forces pierce through their scrap wall, which coincidentally nets you some additional steel.

However, the great city looms overhead. Mangled twisted structures, skyscrapers in various conditions and overhead highways, ancient sewer systems below. Streets filled with rubble and debris and the promise of more defenses and tricks.

Furthermore, the weather takes a turn for the worst as a radioactive sandstorm, turning the air a glowing green and red, pours in. The unprotected non-Hazard robots stick close to the Hazard robots for protection, while your human troopers also stick close to each other kept alive by the miracle of your biohazard suits or the impressive bounty hunter and enclave power armor. The Alien PA seems well adapted for this setting, having seem to been built for planetary exploration.

You yourself now find yourself in the entrance of one the twisted underground tunnels beneath the city, these ones not dug by tunnelers but built by the hand of man.

>What do?
>>
You know what. We should just start dismantling the city, one block at a time.

If they come for us, drive them back. No real need to push in so far that we run afoul of continuous traps. Eat the city whole.
>>
>>1756657
Salvaging robots will cut this section scrap wall apart and additional non-salvaging robots can be used to take it back to the outpost for reprocessing into more defences and robots.

Meanwhile our troops and robots take up positions in the buildings and rubble to prevent counter attacks until this work is done.

While this occurs, a team of our best soldiers lead by our companions will proceed into the tunnel and secure it.

"We were lucky on open ground and flat terrain. Our mechanical forces are ideal for that. Now that we're entering the city proper that may be a disadvantage.

Even with new legs, there's going to be a stiff terrain diffuclty. The city is littered with debris, crater holes, and twisted steel. Marked men and tunnelers will have an easier time maneuvering here than our bulky robots.

Then there is also the presence of this tunnel network you found. That's a liability for us as well. I suggest clearing them out, and you and your companions may be better suited for that."

>MAJOR
"Urban combat. This is going to get messy. Oh well, lucky for us we're the only ones with heavy artillery and flamethrowers right? Those will come in handy. But these high buildings are going to need to be cleared one at a time.

Or blown up, but with our current firepower that will take a lot of time.

This would be better if we had more of everything. More artillery, more flamethrower tanks. For now we will have to divide up the city and secure it block by block and street by street. I suggest looking at your map and setting out an appropriate sector to clear first and turn into a forward safe zone."

I know which is my main problem with it. To be fair however if we get our air-force drones up and running that becomes less of a problem since they can suppress our enemies while the bots get into position no matter how long it may take.

Still, it's just an idea. Plus we could collapse them inward and merely have large piles of rubble to process rather than unstable towers.

The goal of the air-force isn't to hold the land though but to prevent the Marked men assaulting our ground robots and troops as they move over the rubble by suppressing them. Thus allowing our troops the time they need.

Also seeing as our drone designs are based around hover engines, they can hold position over any region like a helicopter and chances are for a good time thanks to their fission batteries and shit. So they can hold land.

The ZAX hijacks 5 Spy-Eye Bot Squads and uses them to locate "good bits". They search through old general stores, debris piles, scrap heaps, anything that looks like it might hold something remotely of value. Meanwhile the Salvager Securitrons drag a nearby workbench.

You liberally pour yourself with the silvery clear stuff, and head into the tunnels. Meanwhile, your securitrons follow behind in collumn formation.

It seems the need for the goop was for naught, this is clearly no tunneler tunnel. Your perception indicates these walls are man made, not tunneler dug, and you are on high alert for mines and traps.

And everytime you come back, the traps get trickier. The Marked Men are specifically trying to plan against someone who knows how to disarm traps.

You know from experience that the moment the traps end, guards begin, and sure enough you see marked men patrols running about on the underground as the battle rages above.

You seem to have come upon a large hallway of sorts with a small minecart rail. Looking about you see it splits off into different hallways, some big enough for more minecarts, others small only enough for a human to walk through. You also note tiny little tunnels below that seem too small for anyone that isnt crawling to come through, though those seem markedly different from the rest.

You take caution before entering the crowded hallway, as there's a good chance you might be detected by someone bumping into you. It splits to the west, and to the east.

You consider launching an attack to clear the tunnels here and now, or leaving your robots behind to venture forward alone.

Riddick, Cain, Hazel, and the Devils Brigade in their various power armors go to play the sniper game against the marked men in the buildings above.

Each have their own, preferred and highly effective weapon typically able to easily punch through even concrete, or cause dangerous shards of concrete and steel to spall out the othside.

Against them the odds are at least 5 to 1 as Marked Men with Sniper Rifles, Anti-Material Rifles and Gauss Rifles. Your followers take their shots and take them well before relocating in stealth, having much more experience than these, and their power armor protects them from all but direct shots.

Still, these are not at all good odds and it is only by the might of power armor, intensive training, superior weapons and ability, called artillery shots, and spy bots that your snipers are not utterly overwhelmed and chopped into fine ribbon.

Twisted rebar and cracked concrete spires of ruined towers reach high into the sky, the twice slain corpses of buildings destroyed not by one nuclear holocaust, but two. The very air saturated with a thick dusty breeze that constantly flowed and collected, creating a slip hazard for the uncautious and daring who would even climb such high buildings when their staircases and elevators had long since fallen to decay.

Climbing up the cracked bones of the old world, two ghosts in the city of the dead. The air rippled as the figures with stealth boys moved, gifted the devices by the Courier, only the sound of clinking metal boots betraying the steel and titanium armor they work on their bodies. At full height they stood a foot or more over the average man.

One wore armor from beyond the stars, sealed air and respirator, and gyroservo’s graded to work on high or 0 gravity worlds. The other, a Knight of the Brotherhood of steel, wore a different set of armor than the clergy of California, betraying his heraldry from the lost Texas expedition. Each had a high powered rifle in their hands, perfect in every way thanks to the replicators of BigMT.

They were walking machines of death and destruction, armor in size of a man, and where a tank could not bring its steel or its gun, they could.
And each had to tread with utter caution.

>HAZEL
“I’ve got eight targets to the building to the south. Six to the north. Sixteen to the west. Seventeen to the east.”

>CAIN
“Fucking shit on a stick, everytime we kill one of them we get pelted with fire from a hundred more. How the fuck are we supposed to clear them out. This is power armor not a fucking pillbox.”

They set up away from a window, both propped up their guns on half broken table.

>HAZEL
“On my mark
. . .”

Silent shots pierced the winds, far away targets were turned to gore and pulp, critical shots to the chest one after the other.

Silent alarms rang out on the radio.

And the skyscrapers burst to light and noise, punctured by Anti-Material rounds, Plasma Fire, and RPG’s from a hundred other angles, poking holes in concrete like swiss cheese, making chairs and desks explode into sharpnel. The two figures hit to the ground crawling to relocate as bullets and energy flew above and beneath them.

>CAIN
“I got twelve. You?”

>Hazel
“Eleven. Let’s try again from the other b-“

Her words were cut off as her stomach lurched to her throat, and the whole world seemed to fall from beneath her body as she, Cain, and everything not bolted to the floor were lifted into the air. The sound of a distant explosion from far below was heard vaguely, as their world turned to dust and they heard a sound like a freight train bearing down on them.

Luckily for them, they were thrown clear of the building and onto the ledge of another as the whole structure came toppling town.

Hmm...

Actually. Our bots guns can punch through the cover of the marked men and are suited for long range fire.

Instead of actual sniper rifles, our companions should be using targeters. Transmit coordinates to our Bots. Let them use the fuck off guns to punch through floors and concrete to take them out without giving away their position to the marked men. Since any counter fire will be directed at our bots, not our companions.
>>
>>1758197
Agreed. We can deal with collapsing a few buildings to eliminate most of the enemy snipers and shit while we pull back for a little while. We need to produce a hundred or so of those humanoid robots I mentioned as well as a few more TACTs. Maybe some of the air force too so we can get some air support.

Alternatively we attempt to bomb the ever living shit out of their positions with our artillery and hold the line for now.

I mean, we could also consider the possibility of attacking again from another angle and thus weakening them / breaking their concentration of forces / getting a few more kills and salvage before pulling out.
>>
>>1758217
Not really in the case of most of our robots if not all of them.

I mean the Bastions could but they'd need to advance under intense enemy fire, set up and then open up and might potentially make a building collapse.
>>
>>1758224
Oh yea, I misread. Our bots are mostly optimised for med to short range.

How about using them as spotters for securitron missile bombardment.
>>
>>1758157
General Kreger’s Command Squad was nested inside a small ruined warehouse, surrounded and protected by old cargo containers filled with old world goods too irradiated to be of any value. He stood over a holographic map, projected by the TACT bot on the ground, surveying it from the air. It was quite detailed, showing various structures of the part of the city currently under survey by the spybots, and was being constantly updated.

>Kreger
“What’s the status of our sniper crews.”

>TACT
“Holding sir, but reporting increasing resistance.”

>Kreger
“I see.”

>TACT
“Assessment. Enemy is highly familiar with terrain and likely has hidden and concealed trenches and tunnels for troop movement.”

>Kreger
“Mhm. Urban settings favor a defender and multiply strength of force, coupled with that, there are more marked men in this city than we currently have robots.”

>TACT
“The marked men are spread out among the rubble, or concentrated in the ruins of several key buildings the spy bots have marked out. From these vantage points they are able to fire from long range. “

>Kreger
“Mark them down on the map and target them with the incendiary artillery”

>TACT
“Yes Sir.”

Both of them were interrupted by the sound of a distant explosion, and Kreger stepped out o the building just in time to see the huge plume of dust and smoke shoot into the sky where once the half remains of a skyscraper stood.

>Kreger
“They were expecting us.
There’s going to be a bomb behind every damn stone.”

>con't
>>
>>1758237
Too many tall buildings. Any Securitrons that got into a position they could fire would get chewed apart in seconds.

Honestly, the only solutions are to use artillery which might not work, to bring down some buildings on top of them which will block off entire streets with rubble, to pull out or to continue with the current tactic.

Admittedly we could see about deploying our infantry into the towers to get close quarters with the Marked men and eliminate them with our Companions continuing to distract them and draw their fire.
>>
>>1758261

Then perhaps we need to look into designing and producing a run of Sniper bots for deployment.
>>
>>1758261
We could use the stealth teams to take out the tower garrisons one at a time, but the current armour doesn't have the stealth capabilities of the Chinese stealth suits.

But I doubt the Marked Men have working radios or anything of the sort.
>>
>>1758272
Eh, my preferred method would just be to level a few towers into their positions and bomb the remains with our big guns.

Then we follow that up with harvesting all of the scrap we want, retreating, expanding our military and then attacking again with a better force that has more artillery, some air support and expendable light humanoid robots to rush their positions and move over rubble.

Remember, there is little in this city we want intact so we can just level it and re-refine it into raw materials, something we were going to have to do anyway.

>>1758274
True but I'd expect them to have radios.
>>
>>1758274
We have even fewer infantry compared to our robots and they are not easily replaceable. We should be sending them in our junk robots or robots.

>>1758290

Thing is they are trying to advance on our positions and only our companions are the only thing currently stopping them from sniping our robot forces.

We'd need a long ranged counter to at least skirmish with them while we salvage since they can just snipe from long range.
>>
I assume robots can fight at night, but do the Marked Men need to have regular human sleep? If not than we can have night assaults. Nothing major but to keep them constantly on their toes which will affect their morale and fighting ability. Also let's build up more melee robots to be decoys, meatshields, and assault troops.

>>1758290
>little in this city we want intact
Really? I was under the impression that there was valuable scientific resources buried within the Divide. If this is not the case than I suppose we can really use artillery for strategic bombardment in select areas.
>>
>>1758306
>Thing is they are trying to advance on our positions and only our companions are the only thing currently stopping them from sniping our robot forces.
True which is why I want to maintain that tactics while deploying our artillery against them and trying to bring the sky scrapers to the ground (after having our companions exit) so our robots can open fire on the enemies and bring down the rest.

>We'd need a long ranged counter to at least skirmish with them while we salvage since they can just snipe from long range.
True...I guess we could try and field assemble some sort of turrets or robots or something to eliminate them?

I mean, if the Chinese incendiary artillery burns for a long time we could just leave the wreckage in flames and leave when it starts to die down, having salvaged what we can or have another barrage reignite the barrier.

"Something doesn't seem right though.

Where are they getting all these high powered guns? Ammunition? Supplies?

This is an army being deployed against us.”

---
A figure in power armor strode through dark tunnels, his eyes peering into the dark as he had downed a cateye pill.

He strutted with a pip in his step, practically whistling inside his helmet. Behind him clanked and creaked an assortment of spider like walker robots, some the size of a dog, others the size of a couch, each bore a plethora of buzzsaws, blades, and cutting tools. Like spiders, they walked on the ground, or on the walls and ceiling, following the man with an Axe as if he were the pied piper of Hamelin.

Up ahead the Courier waved and pointed to the right.

And right he went, following the larger tunnel lit by lamps and here and there spaced out with smaller tunnels, as the little junk axe bots spread out, as they searched for targets to chop.

“Damn it feels good to be Axe man.”

He took one step forward, directly onto a tripwire.

A hail of buckshot opened up on him, followed immediately by an alarm ringing out and the sound of movement. Up ahead he saw figures, saw the bright flash of fire in the dark tunnel and the sensation of automatic rifle bullets hammering away at his power armor. He gripped his axe, eyes wide, and a toothed smile grinning from ear to ear.

“Ha! Finally something to kill!
AXE MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!”

Which raises the question, who has the ability to move through the Divide, a large surplus of weapons / industry and might be able to ally the ex-NCR / Legion soldiers of the Marked men.

Oh fuck it's the NCR again isn't it. This is becoming a running joke at this point.

We've seen the NCR's battlerifle before. The new one which is a .50 cal shooting beast.

If these are fairly similar, it may be appropriate to assume they are doing this. That or the Marked men have been raiding their battles with the Legion or their supply lines or something.

Unlikely, what would Elijah gain from arming them since he'd have no way of knowing we were in conflict with them and they can't raid his enemies.

Plus we have the artillery / heavy gun bot if we really need something like that.
>>
>>1758435
That's what I'm talking about. Build the artillery TACT platforms. to increase our indirect fire.
>>
>>1758448
I'd argue that the drone tenders might be more effective. The primary benefit of the artillery is that they aren't risking valuable machines to do their combat strikes.

Still, we can produce both when we get the chance and the aircraft tenders will provide some much needed brainpower to process bullshit.

Although we will need a lot more brains.
>>
>>1758448
Agreed.

They don't need to be command platforms with brains, just walking gun emplacements.

That'll give us the long range capabilities we need to flatten bits of the city (which we don't really need anyway).

We can have our constructor bots sift through the rubble afterward.

That has to be our construction priority next turn, while our passive one is just more hzd Securitrons.
>>
>>1758502
Our passive should continue being more construction robots. Their utility is huge since they can be used for rapid construction of reinforcements in the field and we are nearing getting anther Construction action I would imagine.
>>
I dunno, what about producing tons of axe bots to spam in close quarters/ confined spaces? No shortage of those in this city.

Wheels creaked and groaned as steel plowed forward through the big tunnel west. The center of the tunnel held a small rail, fit for a minecart to come through, while up above hung ceiling lamps illuminating the tunnel. Here and again the sides of the tunnel broke off into tall smaller tunnels, to tiny for a robot but small enough to fit a man. Or had much smaller tunnels near the ground, of which only a brave man would get on his hands and knees and crawl through.

The securitrons trudged forward. Prudently, the MAJOR ordered a squad of Sentry-Shield bots ahead of them, and a unit of MKV’s with their heavier armor behind them. One of your 2 LAER squads has also been deployed.

The tunnel was wide enough for several bots to stand side by side, the sentry shield bots forming a mobile wall as they are accustomed too. Here and there a Marked Man caught unawares would attempt to flee.

The sentry bots spun their miniguns and a hailstorm of bullets shattered the air, as the marked man was perforated in his armor before he could so much as scream his lungs were outside his body in little bits.

Just as they were making good progress, an explosion happened at the rear of the column, followed by another at the front, effectively trapping the column of robots. Immediately they huddled in a circle, guns pointed out in every direction.

They heard a vile shriek coming from the other end of the cave, and cameras saw a tall, thin figure standing at the other end. Skulls adorned his fur pelt covered body, and on his head a skull mask. His staff pointed at the robots as he shrieked, before withdrawing back into another tunnel as the robots open fired on his position to blow him the fuck up.

As they focused fire on him, they didn’t notice the ground beneath them churn as claws and hands reached upward, while the small tiny tunnels around them groaned and roared.

You yourself are walking along the tunnel systems , the human shaped ones at least.

It's very easy to get lost here. There's bends, twists, turns, and doors. Some doors are booby trapped, shotguns or explosives rigged behind them. Easily countered by you, but they seem to have tried their best to stop infiltration.

You search for anything of value. An ammo dump, the source of the Marked Men's slime, a barracks, something to help make the underground safer for your forces.

These tunnels seem to go on and on and on and never end. Is your pip boy acting up? It's become difficult to mark them. You feel hotter than normal, and dizzy, your thoughts become foggy.

You shut your eyes, just for a second, and open your eyes again.

You see a light at the end of the tunnel, and walk toward it. Your eyes adjust a bit to the. . .blue skies.

Blue, with the sun smiling on your face. No red sky, no glowing sand. Fresh, dusty air in your nostrils. And an American flag fluttering on a pole, as you stare around, you see a place you haven't in almost a decade.

Hopeville.

It's curiously empty. Save for one person.

Someone is walking toward you. He wears a leather jacket. His hair is in braids. He has a mask upon his face.

Ulyssess.

A package.

"From one courier to another"

You open it up, inside, its a detonator with the Enclave's signal on it.

You look up to see Ulyssess, now surrounded by other people. The denizens of Hopeville.

Some of them you've seen many times before. On courier errands, delivering supplies, food and shelter. They wear the flag and emblems of America, on their clothes, in their hats, all stare at you.

Ulysses speaks.

"Who are you, who do not know your history?"

Here is the status report:
-Much of your units have moved forward into the city following the breech in the tall scrap wall. Within the raised outpost is your artillery unit, and the Bawang Platoon plus the Giant Robo Scorpion and a single MKV Hazard Squad in reserve
-Your snipers held off the enemy snipers long enough for your robotic forces to main forces to dig in. Rubble has been cleared by the Omni-Constructor and Loaders to create some cover and a few trenches for the robots as the breech is strengthened
-The enemy has detonated a large explosive trap likely from the basement of a tall building ideal for sniping positions, which your own snipers fell into
-It is reported by the spy drones that this has allowed even more Marked men Marksmen to move into position and take up defenses around your breech-head
-The toppled building has blocked several streets and created much debris hills and piles
-1 Sentry Shield Juggernaut Squad, 1 LAER squad, 1 MKV Hazard Squad, and about 11 Securitron MKV squads are curretly engaged by tunellers who are swarming them from literally all sides underground, attacking from below, from the sides, and dropping in from above. Units are under heavy fire but holding for now
-Axe Man and his Junk Axers are not in contact
-YOU are lost somewhere and you don't know where

It has been almost a week since the start of the battle turn.

>What do?
>>
>>1758880

Construction / salvage robots are to construct as many automated artillery turrets as possible from scrap while others are to continue attempting to excavate the tunnels to the trapped robots and to Axe man. Under the supervision and protection of any non-Hazard robots we have to spare.

All of our infantry and robots of the Hazard variety should take up positions in the trenches and await the enemies arrival while our companions should pull back and re-position to support this new battle line rather than acting as skirmishers.

The artillery unit is to begin firing on known routes the enemies would take, concentrations we previously encountered as well as any areas we know none of our companions are present in using the data from the spy drones. We'll create a wall of flame, delay their attack a little longer and maybe even take some of them down.

All of this of course is based on MAJOR and Moreno not objecting or having a preference.

We should try recovering the Courier and Axe Man somehow.
>>
>>1758932
Right.

>>1758883
Of the Marked Men weapons we've captured, do any of them have any sophisticated targetters? Or just normal scopes and iron sights?

Because if it is, we might as well just make a dirty fire break. Spread black smoke everywhere. Our bots and troops will not be inconvinienced due to sensors but they'll be unable to pierce the smoke and their sniper fire will be hampered.
>>
>>1758934
And recovering our trapped robots...

We need to bring in our tunnelling robots from back at BigMT.

We also need to develop a second beachhead - other positions around the city should be undermanned as their focusing on our forces here.

Pushing in while they're overstretched would be good.
>>
>>1758939
This. Our biggest concern should be manpower. To prevent imminent attacks on our positions I say we bombard them. Get our bastions and Chinese artillery crews start pounding areas of the highest density of MM. Also we need a more effective way of counteracting the tunnelers as well as rescuing our trapped troopsl

They all have normal scopes and iron sights, but there's very little uniformity to them. Some havy jury rigged scopes from other weapons. Infrared sights, laser sights, optics taken from other rifles, little computer calculators from more advanced weapons. almost as if each man had modified his rifle in his own way.

it betrays either an ability to adapt, or each man treating his rifle as uniquely his

>>
>>1759049
then lets do it. Lets give them more resources.

We should also spend a construction action to build more forces.
>>
>>1759071
That would take construction actions though and were currently operating on a tactical scale. We can't just build more tanks right now.
>>
>>1759165
Ah, yes. But I'm aware of that. I doubt we will clear it out in the next turn. This is becoming a full fledged war which will take many months.
It's good that with each step we are securing a lot of resources, so we can build more.
>>
I actually didn't realize that the Divide was a massive city with huge skyscrapers and stuff.

What is the real life counterpart if there is any?
>>
Maybe we should approach this as a RTS game?

Build a powerplant and a robot production facility near our fortifications with the resources we gain from the Divide.

Gather resources with our salvage bots.
Build bigger army.
Secure more terrain.
Build more salvage bots.
Gather even more resources with bigger salvage fleet.
Build even more troops.
Build additional production and energy facilities as needed.

We are in here for a long haul boys.
>>
Maybe we should build a road to the divide.
>>
>>1759207
But we are, on a larger scale. Build robots at base, send them to the front

>>1759210
Though a road might be useful.or train tracks.
>>
>>1759216
I say to build roads. We have hexcrete aplenty and railroad is expensive. Wheeled vehicles are more versatile and cheaper. And I'm not sure that trains are more efficient. We could have massive road trains like they do in Australia and/or build more trucks as we need.
>>
>>1759224
Actual railways are more cost-effective than cars, even long ones. Thats why a train has up to hundreds of wagons. And seeing as we are about to literally scrap a city the railway is a valid choice. Way back when there was a twin-rail project that was discussed for the Divide. Supposedly worth it.

>>1759231
Hmm. Okay.

But we should still build a road alongside as an added measure.

I guess we could continue the tracks and the road into Utah as we expand further.
>>
>>1759236
I dont think the road gives any additional benefits once the railway is up. We have no people going around in cars. Only robots on wheels and if we want to transport them long distances we stick em in the rail cart. I agree with roads to destinations without significant resources but for anything as big as this or a main route to Utah the railway is essential. The only problem being vulnerability to sabotage. Think mines under the tracks.
>>
>>1759243
>The only problem being vulnerability to sabotage. Think mines under the tracks.

That's what I mean and not just sabotage. If a roadway breaks somehow then the traffic stops till it is repaired which can take several days but if something happens to the road, that section can be driven around.

Hopefully, once we start expanding and getting bigger population, people will start driving around.
>>
>>1759245
Well with only one railway in the middle of the death plain of sun and radiation I think a couple of spybots should be enough to make sure nobody does anything dirty. This could further be prevented by making the foundation out of hexcrete (would also allow for bigger railcarts) so the possibility of mines is negated. And we can always have a spybot check the tracks ahead of our carts.
>>
>>1759250
>This could further be prevented by making the foundation out of hexcrete (would also allow for bigger railcarts)

You know, I hadn't thought about that.
Since we are making railroads from scratch, we should also redesign the rails themselves and the width of the road so that standard freightcars can carry several time more than we have now.

I couldn't reliably find information on the highest weight that the modern standard railcars can carry but it looks like somewhere in the line of 110 metric tons.
>>
>>1759271
Well it should be based on foundation and railway toughness. So hexcrete and beefy rails makes a strong rail system. Make the carts big as well and there you go. Only question is cost efficiency. When the Divide is empty can we still justify a huge railway.
>>
>>1759278
Well, if we plan on expanding towards Utah or taking over New Vegas, then yeah, we can continue the rail-line.

In worst case, we can always scrap it. The metal wont be lost.
>>
>>1759271
I think we should keep the railway lines the same width as the old world line, so we can jsut hook them up to existing infrastructure rather than having to put down all new lines every where we go.
>>
>>1759292
The old ones have lost their use already. Questionable structural integrity, not to mention broken stretches. Easier to scrap than to reuse. Especially since the prewar destinations may not be relevant anymore.

What do you think about maglev solutions? Since it is going to be a straight stretch anyway why not use a highspeed variant. They can go in excess of 300 km/h or near 200 miles. That is considerable if we decide we need the speed.
>>
>>1759308
I think we need to get bigger before maglev becomes viable. Right now were a couple dozen miles across. The savings aren't worth it. Maybe if we had to go all the way to the far corner of Utah, it might be more viable.
>>
>>1759184
Well, they aren't of the scale of New York or Los Angeles but yes it was indeed a sizeable city.

[Int 6]
Most of the Marked Men here are likely a combination of the original settlers of Hopeville, plus the armies NCR and the Legion, which were swallowed whole.

When Vegas was a dark and the families still tribal, Hopeville was a thriving community that you and other couriers helped feed with trade and goods. If house never awoke or Legion took Hoover Dam first, the Mojave might well have been yet another Legion fief and this town the site of their great battle.

Thus the Marked Men's numbers are two armies and a whole community, swallowed by a combined nuclear and weather nightmare, bound together by endless agony and anger.

8 hours later the bar is found smeared with blood and guts. Every corpse devoid of a brain and a fridge-sized hole in the wall. Tracks lead to Death Valley.

We should consider re-activating the lobotomization protocols on BigMT. Just increase the radius so they pick up people in the desert. Screen them before surgery and get brains and reduce potential infiltrators or defectors.

That is where the selective bit comes in. If they are immigrants they never learn of the lobotomization. If not, clip clip and we get a brain with a side of salient.
>>
>>1759806
It occurs to me we have a trucker and nearby NCR towns.

We could ask to set up an immigration bureau in a settlement of theirs and have him run transport runs back and forth with new folks. That or we make robot-bus's to do it.
>>
>>1759827
I think they would object if we just start carting off people. Likewise, we may get more hostile spies than we need in our city.
>>
>>1759835
Our observation systems make it unlikely they'll try anything if they are spies and the NCR has population to spare so I doubt they'll object. Anyhow they'd have to make it through the desert.

To be frank I was considering asking the MLA slavers for any blind, deaf or otherwise crippled slaves. Since we can repair them and get good slaves on the cheap to expand our population.
>>
>>1759835
Spies is just a risk that we have to take when dealing with immigration. We can try to filter them out before letting them in, and try to find them if they do get let in, but there is no guarantee.
>>

>To be frank I was considering asking the MLA slavers for any blind, deaf or otherwise crippled slaves. Since we can repair them and get good slaves on the cheap to expand our population.

That is a good idea, we can buy in bulk. But if the slavers ask, we can tell them it's for our whore house at our drug plant. Our costumers like them that way as a cover.

>As a courier we just find a way out.
You find yourself in a cavern. Hewn out of rock, and does not appear to be part of an Old World structure.

There is no natural light in here, so you see through Catseyes in the darkness. Its dry, dark, the type of thing you'd expect from a cave network beneath the divide. The stalagmites and stalactites here tell of an ancient river or water system long since dried up and gone, and there aren't even any fungi or mushrooms growing.

Despite the seemmingly natural ambience, you find four doors on different sides of the cave.

One is an open arch from which a curious light appears.

One is a rusted garage style door, like the kind you find in the wasteland.

One looks like a fancy closed wooden door, the kind you saw in a Casino.

One is, bizarrely, an alien door from the Zetan mothership?

The three doors seemingly are embedded into the rock wall of the cavern, while the open arch leads into another space.

You walk up to the Alien Door. For some reason, it seems old and rusted, and there are slight differences from the Zetan doors on the mothership you remember.

It doesn't open automatically. You have to pry them open, and they do so with difficulty, screeching and groaning at the strength of your body and power armor.

You enter into another room. An alien room, rusty and old. There are some human items to the left neatly arranged, such as old metal lockers, hardhats, dufflebags, backpacks, old worn clothes. All tossed in a pile halfhazardly.

To the right are two alien operating tables, with devious looking metal instruments hanging from the ceiling. Scalpels, syringes, buzzsaws, lamps, vaccuum tubes and cruel tools which have no name. The straps and cuffs on them are open, and a dead skeleton with its skull open wide in agony lies in one.

The otherside of the room has a much larger alien door, this one strangely bolted over by wooden frames and chains, as if someone wanted to stop anyone from entering it. There is an alien panel button thing next to it.

You don't know why, but you think you hear screaming or crying coming from the otherside, and there are small glass windows through the door.

The two alien operating tables resemble the ones you found on the Chinese Mothership. Sleek metal and shiny tools and instruments, panels with bizarre readings and letters unreadable, and cuffs to no doubt hold down unwilling specimens even in the most intense pain.

Both of them have old and dried blood marks, as do the tools and instruments. It saddens you to know that not only were aliens capable of this level of cruelty, but also humanity in BigMT and their operating tables. The similarity to those is striking actually.

Very striking.

In any case you also investigate the skeleton. This one appears to be still wearing his miners outfit, helmet included. A wallet reveals him to be a miner born in Pre-War times, and he still has some tools like a worn out flashlight, empty food wrappers, a wrench and few others.

In his hand is a note. Its difficult to read, either you are tired or his handwriting shakily as if in someone's final moments, so you are only able to read most of it.

"I can't wait any longer.

COURIER SMASH

With your incredible strength and power armor, you fight the operating table as well as you would any robot in melee combat. Rending metal, ripping wires, returning the machines cold mechanical emotionlessness with anger and fury.

However, it manages to jab you in an unlucky kink in your armor with a hypodermic needle before you finish if off, and you go woozy.

The lockers themselves are also ancient and rusted. Reading the words on them is hard, especially while under drug influence, but you are able to open them up well enough.
You find mining equipment. Rope, pickaxes, hatchets, lamps. Connecting two and two you wonder if what happened was aliens had kidnapped some miners but you cant be sure.
You also find lunchboxes and food boxes, but they are all eaten, leaving behind nothing but plastic wrappers and foil discarded in piles.
An emptied medkit is here too, the stimpaks and bandages used up long ago.
The dufflebags, backpacks, and piles of clothes are also similarly mining related wear, but ancient and dusty and torn as if having been used.

You walk up to the door, hearing a crying voice. It sounds so. . .familiar for some reason.

The door is a large alien door, old and rusted like the entire room itself and covered in dust. Yet it is also barred by wood and chains of human make. Was this the doing of the skeleton or someone else?

There are glass like cracks through the door, and you take a look inside.

The room on the inside is lit by a bright lamp shining from above, shining down on another operating table.

An occupied operating table, and the source of the crying. You now know why the voice is so familiar.

There on the table cuffed by wrist and by ankles and spread eagle is a nude and naked Willow, sobbing tearfully and staring up into the light.

You hear her screams trail off upward until the room is unable to be seen, just as you rip off the last barrier in the way. You pry the door open as it roars in defiane, the rusted frame resisting movement. You are looking at a long shaft.

Good god. What happened to our constant autistic internal debates about tiny issues? But now when it comes down to these really dangerous situations for ourselves we didn't stop and think in between posts from OP to assess the situation tactically. We just charged in head first. Not to mention our consistently shit dice rolls and now we're severely injured within enemy territory. Fuck this. Fuck this so hard.
>>
>>1761392
We didn't roll well enough and took the fast / direct route to follow our target (thus the "hardest") when we might have found another way that would've done just as well with less risk. Still, we are alive and in the same place as them. So given time we should recover and be able to save them.

Also OP, we have the adamantium bones so I doubt any of them broke from the fall. Poking out our skin, sure but broken? Nah.

Perhaps it was his alien shuttle, but frankly we could have had something if we had OP describe the surroundings a bit more or at least done ANYTHING. Anything at all. This is not the first time this shit has happened. We have a momentary lapse of judgement at then coupled with bad dice rolls, it really fucks shit up for us. Our last encounter with Alien rapist here, Elijah, infiltrating the NCR with Unity, Hoover, etc. We need to cover all the bases next time.

I don't know what else he could have described. It was an elevator, we rolled bad, things went badly.

>>
>>1761448
I've said time and again that OP is sometimes a bit too harsh but it's something we should know how to deal with by now.

What I do agree with is that OP should've mentioned a staircase or a door in the room or something at some point prior besides that one. Since for all we knew it was the only way out of the room, so why would we waste time looking?

Also 32 isn't that bad of a roll. Yet we almost die? The almighty fuck?
>>
>>1761463
I think it's less almost die and more just a way the turn ends. So failing is getting pretty injured, but failing bad would be much worse.
>>
>>1761473
I've always felt that it would be nice if OP would declare DC's for actions and tell us our bonuses and shit.

It's something I enjoyed back in Banished quest and in a fair few other places.
>>
>>1761506
Maybe the little thing, like easy medium, or hard. But then again, players should know what actions do. But also the case that due to it being unknown we don't get DC showed.

I did like Banished quest. I was there
>>
>>1761512
I know, I know but with something like this it feels like success was never going to be possible. I mean 32 is actually a decent roll by some quests standards. I could accept that it might see our armies losing in combat or a research needing another turn yet here the Courier, a man with 10 in every stat who is augmented and amazing in many ways, can't jump out of a elevator when he knows it is going to fall?

As to banished quest, good to know.

Another thing I notice about this quest I quite dislike, it lacks numbers. Precise values, finite relations that I can calculate, correlate and use to my advantage. I mean, I can accept it in the case of things like salvaging or hunting or fighting or such where the results can change and things aren't a precise relation. Yet we receive no hard, consistent numbers on our farming like how many it can support at the current level or the production from our factories for Hexcrete or refining salvage into steel and shit.

An example of a quest that I prefer in these regards would be Homesteader quest. It started recently yet the OP has a well defined, efficient and honestly effective method of explaining where you get your bonuses from, where they apply, how much shit you get from a field for each crop you grow and so on.

Everything has precise numbers and with shit like that I can calculate how many fields would need to be dedicated to food production to sustain our character and how much we can give away. How many weeks it'll take to turn 1000 kg of clay into bricks or how quickly we can smoke the meat of any animal we hunt, in order to preserve it.

I understand and respect that OP avoids numbers to give himself wiggle room but it annoys me that we spent a ton of time building a robotics factory for passive production and yet it can lose and gain efficiency randomly. Same goes for the DC's. Even if it was only a vague (Easy = 30+ and Hard = 80+ or something).

Plus he wants to slow the rate we are getting more Boons which is a bit of a dick move, since he controls the rate at which we get new threads and such. Plus he gave them away far easier in the early threads. It makes little sense to me since it feels to me like an age between each of them and we need them for so many things.

Still this is the rant of a random fuck at 6 AM because OP also runs at insane times like everyone else on this site. So I've lost the plot and my mind is in shambles from keeping up with you damnable Americans.
>>
Fall damage is the worst thing in this quest. OP mentioned that several times before. It literally cannot be countered by anything. That is also the very reason why the only real phobia that the Courier has is the fear of heights.

>>1761559
Actually I prefer no numbers thing and I wish there was even less micro-managing. I don't like those huge turn stats and wish they were streamlined more.
I've seen quests where QM get overwhelmed by numbers and just give up at one point. It's better to just fluff up the things.

>>1761448
>momentary lapse of judgement
>Elijah

Nah, that wasn't just lapse of judgment. That was willingly being a bunch of stupid ass retards. It was discussed and the minority who were against doing hostilities at the time explained how fucking stupid it was to do so. People read the arguments, got them, and still did it anyway.

I mean we were rolling against 1d1000. 1d1000!!
>>
>>1761559
I agree with you on all points. Have had the same problem with numbers as well. I also feel like the giant robot factory should be able to produce well over 100 bots a month. And I would like to get an accurate measurement of the replicator tech. How much power does it take to turn rocks into 1 tonne of fissile materials (whatever those actually are).

Also it seems that QM wants this to be a tooth-and-nails kind of quest when we should actually be doing far better in relation to other wasteland powers. I understand that time has moved further but the Calculator could whoop ass in the midwest and Houses Securitrons were enough to beat away everyone from NV I dont understand how marked men or tunnelers are such big an enemy. Seems to me like level-scaling, the bane of Bethesda.
>>
>>1761794
>Actually I prefer no numbers thing and I wish there was even less micro-managing. I don't like those huge turn stats and wish they were streamlined more.
That I can agree with. A large amount of the information could be moved to a pastebin.

>I've seen quests where QM get overwhelmed by numbers and just give up at one point. It's better to just fluff up the things.
Fluff is okay for most things but in civ quests and shit we need detail so we can deal with the situation most effectively.

Again, I'm not asking for numbers everywhere but I like having a vague knowledge of our situation in terms of raw, hard numbers that I can rely on, quote and debate using.
>>
>>1761794
I dont remember it clearly but I dont think it went badly. If there hadnt been a magical "vault metal" everything in the way we would have been down in the Vault and vaporizing his ass. It was part recklessness and part QM not wanting the BigBad dead at thread 5.
>>
>>1761815
> I also feel like the giant robot factory should be able to produce well over 100 bots a month.
Actually I don't think it was ever stated how large it was. Also we are a very small civilisation, what is a large factory for us is quite small for a bigger civilisation but I do agree, for a ZAX controlled factory that we spent multiple turns constructing and had to get specific pre-war parts for, it doesn't seem that impressive.

>Also it seems that QM wants this to be a tooth-and-nails kind of quest when we should actually be doing far better in relation to other wasteland powers. I understand that time has moved further but the Calculator could whoop ass in the mid-west and Houses Securitrons were enough to beat away everyone from NV I don't understand how marked men or tunnellers are such big an enemy.
I agree. The NCR as I've stated previously (again and again) genuinely is recovering and advancing too fast. They aren't meant to be anywhere near as industrialised as OP seemingly thinks, even if they did seize a huge cache of pre-war weapons / vehicles, even if Vault city had the technology for automobiles and even if they found a fuel source. They can't by any means I can imagine have advanced this quickly.

I mean, the Legion seems the most reasonable faction by a long mile and even they are fucked up beyond belief since OP has given them land in the north and shit which they in game having nothing anywhere near. I swear he mentioned them being in Canada or something at one point when the Legion in game only has conquered lands in the southern / central united states at most to my memory.

>Seems to me like level-scaling, the bane of Bethesda.
Aye, it makes little sense especially that the Marked men are producing these new weapons for themselves and shit.
>>
>>1761843
People saw that OP used 1d1000, got a chance to turn around and then still went ahead. Obviously OP has to make up something.

>>1761847
>>Seems to me like level-scaling, the bane of Bethesda.
>Aye, it makes little sense especially that the Marked men are producing these new weapons for themselves and shit.

So what's the point of even doing anything? Will a village of tribals in South America become a super juggernaut of an enemy faction once we conquer the entirety of northern America?
>>
>>1761847
Considering how large the NCR is and what weapons it has at F:NV time it is literally impossible for them to make all that in 5 (?) years. Even the BoS F4 Prydwen in 10 years was a bit f a stretch. And another thing that bugs me is that Oddball made a full casino in a year or so. IRL that takes years and he did it with brahmin and manual workers? And if not, then when did the NCR have time to make construction machines?
>>
>>1761867
Did he really? Was it a mistake or did he honestly do that?

Spice in some voodo-hoodo and possibly, yes.
>>
>>1761867
The point of doing anything is that by the time I realised this might be a fairly pointless venture where we'd spend a dozen threads (turns out my estimate was optimistic) to get anywhere, it was too late to disengage because I gave too many hours into the damn quest and wanted to see how it turned out.

>>1761883
Agreed. Not to mention all the while they were building a air-force, creating tanks, fighting two massive wars, ripping apart various institutions finding spies, losing the Followers, dealing with the loss of the NV area, all the forces there (seriously the NCR had fuck all to spare) and generally dealing with insane problems?

Honestly it's more like OP has a hard-on for the NCR.

He's trying to level the playing field here. He's having us fight for the wasteland inch by inch against enemies who are smart, calculating and frankly merciless. I can appreciate that. It will make it all the more sweet when we kill them and hear the laments of their women.

I would've agreed with you before we went on a quest on a whim, got an entirely new, useful combat companion, and rapidly got through a little plotline of the kind that would make up half an average fallout game, and received five AIs with a couple hundred years' worth of experience managing combat robots.

OP is definitely going hard with the asspulls, but he's doing so to make the setting interesting and somewhat fair. We're ONE nation of a few hundred contesting nations of hundreds of thousands, and we've done this in the span of a few years. Everyone is very very quick to forget that, and the fact that OP is working from the frankly retarded basis of most of the established fallout powers, and turning them into the kinds of things that real people might make.

The legion is no longer autistically running around in sports garbage and role playing, and instead is actually building lots and lots of very effective, primitive infrastructure instead of just being the shit, wandering horde they were heavily implied to be in F:NV

The NCR got a competent leader, put all their technological agility and might towards pulling them out of the fucking 1800s. In doing so, they also ended up adopting a massively effective kind of national socialism, and recruited a very clever, very scheming man that we were too simple to recognize as a threat, and used him to reverse engineer technology.

Assorted factions like the BoS and the MLA are also no longer too busy sniffing their own farts to be combat effective, and are now tangible threats and allies. The pseudo-religious crap strewn through the assorted Fallout games also now has purpose, and is a plotline all unto itself.

OP is quite simply doing all these asspulls because he wants an interesting universe for the game to take place in, and that universe is simply not the vanilla Fallout universe. Say what you will about his changes, but don't act like the setting could stand on it's own with this kind of freedom.
>>
>>1762038
>Naw, that's unfair guys. He's trying to create different challenges for us and he is not unreasonable.
You mean besides the NCR magically fixing every single problem that plagues their nation, the Legion discovering infinite manpower and the various things prior outlined that seem like bullshit.

>I think for the most part that stuff that screw us over or seems weird have their reasoning behind it and its less a OP thing and just a matter of us to get gud.
That would only work as the truth if we had some clear method of dealing with the problems he presents. Or it was a matter of genuine incompetence on our part.
>>
>>1762165
The problem here is that the balance of power doent come from the fact that we are small and everyone else is HUUGE with HUUGE GUTS, but from the fact that our seemingly superscience is easily found elsewhere in equally big quantities. Versus us having to figure out how to do everything everybody else with less resources and smarter planning. The NV NCR could very well be a threat to us if they played smart and used their frankly ludicrous number of citizens (Well in the millions). Instead they get artificially beefed up by Science they somehow not only understood but also mass implemented in years. Not to mention the other industrial revolutions they had going.

I am fine with a tough game, makes it interesting that way. But achieving this by adding bonuses instead of playing to strengths gets me butthurt.
>>
>>1762165
>I would've agreed with you before we went on a quest on a whim
You mean were semi-ordered by the Brain AKA OP.

>got an entirely new, useful combat companion
From another Fallout game and only after a roll if I remember.

>and rapidly got through a little plotline of the kind that would make up half an average fallout game
Now that is a matter of opinion and I would point out we stepped in after the game had ended and took some shit from the end credits so to speak.

>and received five AIs with a couple hundred years' worth of experience managing combat robots.
Only true in the case of one of them. The rest have different specialities.

>OP is definitely going hard with the asspulls, but he's doing so to make the setting interesting and somewhat fair.
It already was.

>We're ONE nation of a few hundred contesting nations of hundreds of thousands, and we've done this in the span of a few years.
Except we've barely done anything to "contest" with these nations. Literally nothing depending on your point of view which is mine.

>Everyone is very very quick to forget that, and the fact that OP is working from the frankly retarded basis of most of the established fallout powers, and turning them into the kinds of things that real people might make.
You are quick to blame the source material, a thing written by people who's sole purpose and job is to sit around and write a (somewhat-)cohesive universe. Seriously, if the source material was that shit OP wouldn't have bothered using it for anything other than a starting base or concept which he would have turned into his own. I'd point out in the first few threads we didn't know he was going to be having any mods in particular or that he was going to drastically change any group.

Also he hasn't changed the fundamental basis of any of the groups he has altered (NCR excluded). So they are still all retarded by concept if that is your complaint about them and the source material.

>The legion is no longer autistically running around in sports garbage and role playing, and instead is actually building lots and lots of very effective, primitive infrastructure instead of just being the shit, wandering horde they were heavily implied to be in F:NV
Yet they manage to throw the same amount of manpower and weapons into a war effort as the NCR? Who are a industrialised nation?

Also I'd point out in Fallout 4 that a metal cage chest can defend you from a plasma shot and that a sack over your head protects from radiation. Rule of cool is something OP has admitted exists and yet you can't accept that their armour of sports gear would work?

Not to mention the Legion were far less indepth in that game than they were meant to be.
>>
>>1762165
>very clever, very scheming man that we were too simple to recognize as a threat
Oddball really is the littlefinger of Fallout ay
>>
>>1762209
>The NCR got a competent leader,
Out of fucking nowhere and he is also seemingly a fucking 10-in-every-stat super man. Who managed to get everyone to love him out of nowhere, somehow?

>put all their technological agility and might
Their what? They talk about a solar power plant like it's a god damn miracle and rely on companies to supply their shit. Not to mention the fact that in-game they can't seemingly produce or procure with the powers of their entire nation a good supply of parts for a single mono-rail which they consider incredibly valuable.

>towards pulling them out of the fucking 1800s. In doing so, they also ended up adopting a massively effective kind of national socialism,
Out of fucking nowhere.

>recruited a very clever, very scheming man that we were too simple to recognise as a threat, and used him to reverse engineer technology.
Who I said we should just kill seeing as OP's history in regards to deals with people is essentially cave to their demands or get fucked up the ass with a cattle prod covered in barbed wire and aids.

>Assorted factions like the BoS and the MLA are also no longer too busy sniffing their own farts to be combat effective
Which they never were before hand either.

>and are now tangible threats and allies.
Which they always were.

>The pseudo-religious crap strewn through the assorted Fallout games also now has purpose, and is a plotline all unto itself.
Yeah, and? You act as if this is some stroke of genius by OP.

>OP is quite simply doing all these asspulls because he wants an interesting universe for the game to take place in, and that universe is simply not the vanilla Fallout universe. Say what you will about his changes, but don't act like the setting could stand on it's own with this kind of freedom.
It could. There was a balance of power between the NCR and the Legion that was well preserved in the game and could clearly be maintained.

>>1762204
Agreed. Consider that the best the NCR could find for the HELIOS facility out of their entire nation and body of people educated in science, machines and so on. Is a man without any actual knowledge whatsoever and a man from the Followers of the apocalypse. Who they then destroyed in this timeline with I imagine many of them being unwilling to help the NCR.

As to their population, the NCR only had as of the end / start of FO: NV around 700,000 apparently. So even if they grew at an insane rate and all those were working age men and women, they aren't exactly going anywhere fast in regards to outnumbering the enemy.
>>
>>1762238
>As to their population, the NCR only had as of the end / start of FO: NV around 700,000 apparently. So even if they grew at an insane rate and all those were working age men and women, they aren't exactly going anywhere fast in regards to outnumbering the enemy.

That 700k is wrong anon, it would be right in 2241

>According to a population census in 2241, the population at that time in the NCR was at 700,000 people

So that census was 40 years old at the start of FO NV now it's 43 years ago.

So they would have 1 million min to 1.5 million max
>>
>>1762266
You are correct, but I would like to add that in that time they annexed many nations including Vault City, New Reno (kind of), the Den, Redding, Broken Hills and all the land and people in between. They are really huge compared to us. Dont know about the Legion numbers.
>>
>>1762280
Correct once again.
They have lots of people. So we need to be friends with them until a time comes,

to cripple the NCR, you have to take down the factories, roads, and industrial. Tho we can't really invade them, as they are the Russia of the game. So of course we need to have enough troops to protect ourselves. Then after we get divide we can finally build a robot army that can protect ourselves.

Thinking about how much we get done in each turn, I say that we should be able to stand against a attack NCR in a year or two. And by attack I mean they are using air support, arty, tanks and men to get our capital.
>>
>>1762266
Okay, so I've gave them an insane population growth rate of 5%, ignored the possibility of people dying, assumed new population are instantly reproducing and assumed that all of the population is (female and) pregnant constantly and that it lasts a year for simplicity's sake.

This puts their population ignoring losses to war, disease, problems during pregnancy, starvation, old age, radiation, crime, slavers, wild life and other such things at nearly 5 million. Once again however I must stress this is a insane projection of just how big they could be assuming perfect circumstances.

>>1762280
>Vault City
Fairly small population and added into the NCR before thingy took power. Might've even been in time for that 700000 number.

>New Reno
Large losses from the local population thanks to the war and efforts to secure the city.

>the Den,
Would be destroyed by them or abandoned before the NCR arrived since it is mostly slaves / slavers.

>Redding,
Absorbed awhile back. Possibly even in time for that 700000 number.

>Broken Hills
A population of non-breeding mutants and people living in a high radiation area. Low likelihood of reproduction occurring here in vast numbers.

>and all the land and people in between.
No known large settlements. Unimportant.
>>
>>1762322
The holodisk you get in F2 when you get to the NCR mentions 700k. That is before any annexation of the mentioned settlements. Seeing as the NCR had 700k while the capital in-game had like 70 people in it we can conclude that the game takes place in a small scale, which is reasonable. Since all those people cant live in cities and need to eat as well it is also reasonable to assume a large portion of the people live on the land (41% of Kenyans farm IRL, should me comparable) Which means although the desert is mostly empty people do live there. With the addition of huge swathes of land from the capital to Vault City/Redding/The Den and so on it is also reasonable to assume a sizable population was added to the NCR lands (looking at the map at least 30%). Thus the overall population would also have had to rise considerably. Add to that breeding and a stable environment and I can see them getting to 2 million by the time our game starts. And no, they will not all be adults or constantly pregnant but with the world being what it is families will be big and kids will be used for labor. So I find it is not unreasonable to assume they have millions of people.

Also, dont know about The Frontier but people were added from there as well.
>>
>>1762297
Honestly given some time I could honestly agree with you but that depends on the NCR not steamrolling the Legion and us getting a insane amount of metal from the Divide.

What I disagree with is your estimate. Give me 6 turns, I could make our capital entirely secure from attack by the NCR. However to actually be able to hold out for a long time against their whole force or push out even slightly would require a fuck ton of resources and even then it'd probably fail.

Fact is that we need to get project Utah up and running so we can supply the MLA with weapons, drugs and alcohol in return for slaves and scrap to weaken the NCR while we turn the slaves and scrap into soldiers and robots so we can assault the Legion's lands in the region and secure yet more resources.

Then we just continue expanding into the Legion, supplying the MLA and working to weaken the NCR / strengthen ourselves.

>>1762349
True.

>(41% of Kenyans farm IRL, should me comparable
Kenya is a fairly rich African nation and does have some modern farms and shit. Plus the growth of plants post apocalypse is almost certainly worse thanks to the radiation.

As to all your other points, true as my estimate that gets to roughly 4.9 million doesn't account for anything reducing population so I must assume their current numbers are 2-3 million at most from babies to elders.

This is indeed a point the Courier does consider.

How in the hell DID the NCR accomplish this. In only 4 years?

By no mean does that seem right. Not with what the NCR has on display. The integration of the Shi, Vault City, a working ZAX, but even this level of power seems too much of a stretch.

You can't put your finger on it, but something is happening behind the NCRs curtain.

>land in the north

Heh. Did give you guys a chance to "Leave. Maybe think of another way"

---

I think another aspect of the difficulty you guys face is that there are intentional, hidden powers working behind the scenes manipulating for or against you.

You see the effect but do not see the cause. And sometimes there are compounding factors too.

For example in this case, it seemed that the intent of the players was to rescue Willow in the most expedient manner. Coupled with this, the Courier was spiked on drugs and in addition you have a hidden Perception penalty from hidden spoilers that are affecting your natural perception, making it easy to miss things without a second glance.
>>
>>1762501
Is this something that the forecaster warned about? He said something ominous about the north.

Speaking of the forecaster. The way we dealt with him and Sam is atrocious. We are believing an evil being which invaded our mind.
I feel we should tell Sam that she can hang out with Clave again but that she should also spend a lot of time with other kids and her siblings at Baker
>>
>>1762514
I think the biggest difficulty is that as a whole, the players want to get on with stuff.. We are not playing a video game where the player can take stuff slowly and examine everything as close as possible. The quest sections take a lot of real time. So people make hasty choices without thinking things through.

>Heh. Did give you guys a chance to "Leave. Maybe think of another way"
I know but that is part of my point. You'd already described the room and had not mentioned another door or a vent or anything when you listed shit for us to inspect / pass through and shit. That was the only exit or passage we knew of and thus it seemed pointless to me to look for more because YOU should have mentioned if there was anything of the sort.

We are playing a character with 10 PER, yet he can't tell from walking into a room where every exit and entrance within line of sight is?

>I think another aspect of the difficulty you guys face is that there are intentional, hidden powers working behind the scenes manipulating for or against you.
And in Banished quest we got those presented to us in real-world hard number values in the DC's of our rolls. We could tell you precisely the nature of the situation but even then OP could still put in things which we might not understand or "????" when we weren't meant to know and shit. Yet I would still be able to say "Well something is making this harder but fuck if we know. At least I can quantify the strength of it.".

>>1762525
This. You run at ridiculous fucking times for anyone in Europe OP. I have to stay up to 4-6 AM to be able to take part in most of these threads and you can't expect me to maintain any sorts of patience at 5 in the morning with a headache from tiredness and shit.

Plus there is the fact that I can't play as long as I want, only as long as you run. So we "rush" our decisions.
>>
>>1762501
So you mean to say the Frontier/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-esque mindfuckery is going on and thats where they pulled all that shit from? I can get behind Yaunker being a Übermensch with cultist mutant ties but the NCR should not have that. The elite dudes he has with him are also game but again, it should not be this widespread.

In other news, when this mindfucjery is going on, can we feel anything fucking with us? Some presence or somesuch? Could we potentially kick its ass with mind bullets!! Or roll for SAN or something? Because even with The Master basically being a psychic powerhouse he couldnt do shit to the Vault Dweller and now some asshole with a staff mindfucks us like nothing. Im still not convinced we actually saw Crypto and that is was not another illusion. On that note, check ourselves. Pinch himself or something. Also, get the Forecaster over here and have him run interference. Later figure out how we can farm pshycics for black ops or secret police (Fallout Doomsday mod had this done brilliantly. Enclave psykers scanning everyone. Nobody is safe and nobody is out of reach. Nice control over everything.)

>>1762537
As another person from Europe I would like to say to the QM that the times are whack and most of the action takes place at night for me. Despite that and the problems outlined in this discussion I still cant stay away. The source material is fantastic and you are good at writing. However I hope you take this in a good way when we point out problems. Overlooking the brief brake I took when that waifu shit was happening I have been following this from the beginning and I would like to see it through to the end. So consider what we have brought forth and explain why you do things the way you do them. This could help ease players and help fix broken bits of the setup. Because Im sorry but the NCR is on crack. And no voodo-hoodo from beyond the stars can do that.

I understand that the NCR may just be a means to an end but come on. This is a bit too much power thrown at us out of the blue. Even the superalientech enhanced Lorenzo could just blow hard air. Why these guys can fuck with us that much I dont get.

And besides. With the confirmation of psyker powers being pretty common we should start looking into this thing. Secret (psyker) Police anyone?
>>
>>1762541
Except if we go back through door then we enter back into the semi-fictional dream state I thought we had left which seemingly we hadn't. Plus, assuming that the dream state did collapse, we would be trapped deep underground in an abandoned alien facility with no idea where we are or anything.

They didn't claim our inventions as their own. Oddball did. The NCR just accepted it because legally, they had no reason not to. Not like they fudged the paperwork we didn't file.

And they downplayed the involvement of foreign mercenaries as a military dictatorship. Not like they have an obligation to be honest. They don't have to be honest with their people.
>>

>I meant that the psyker could set us on fire and blow hallucinations at us like nothing.

Are you suggesting that we return the Forecaster or suffer the consequences?
>>

>They didn't claim our inventions as their own.
Hexcrete is apparently a invention of New Reno and Salient purple was a product of the state.

>Not like they have an obligation to be honest.
True but they could have said "from an allied state" rather than calling us security forces or something. It's insulting and they knew there was a good chance we might end up seeing that film.

Most of my complaints arent something that can be changed at this stage. The NCR being bonkers OP; Elijah, who I realize is a smart man, pulling shit so big out of his ass no wonder he is a hologram now; many factions seemingly advancing leaps and bounds in the last 5(?) years despite decades of linear growth and the fact that despite us being literally the smartest bunch of bastards in the wasteland our supertech can be improved by Littlefinger and whacks in labcoats in a few months.

Also, fuck Oddball. He is on the hit list. Death Valleys most wanted. QM, do bounty hunters still exist in the NCR? What about assassins?
>>
>>1762586
You guys havent signed an alliance.in the most literal sense you were acting as private security, or mercenaries as a less polite term.

Bright lights and flashes burned hot underneath the earth. A pyrotechnical and laser light show of minigun fire, laser rays, and LAER blasts, illuminating the tunnel walls in quick bursts like a strobe light.

Everywhere a tunneler so much as stuck out an arm, a leg, or a head, they lit up like magnesium and melted to ash.

Great dark black eyes were singed by the bright display, and the tunnelers screeched and fled, withdrawing from the fight.

The Securitrons arms glowed hot and were smoking, as they were surrounded by piles of ash, plasma, and gore that stained the very walls and floor of the tunnel.

>Securitron
“Threat Neutralized!”

Beneath the ground, the fires of the Phoenix burned away the darkness. For now.

Power armor clambered up the scrap and debris wall, a great structure, one or two stories high, built of piled cars, steel girders, and anything the marked men could pick up and drag off the field. Yet even then your companions notice some curious observations.

Some of these steel items are much bigger than even men or ghouls could reasonably be expected to carry. And some things more complicated than they are able to assemble.

Their job was to move forward and clear out the rest of the cities wall, LAER bots moving in from behind to provide intensive fire support.

The Marked Men were ill prepared for an attack alongside their wall, they duck behind sandbags and barrels firing their AK47s and submachine guns on your forces, only to be returned with twice that volume of fire in LAER shots as twin LAER gatlings spun hot, and in between them highly accurate energy rifle hits honed true from V.A.T.S. assisted power armor.

>Cain
“Goddamn its great having robots to do the fighting for us. Lets us pick the rest of them off.”

>Moreno
“There is nothing better than hosing down an enemy with excessive firepower”

>Hazel
“Damn right.”

>Cain
“So this Courier guy. What’s his deal. He always puts us on some damn suicide run. I mean, I got used to that sort of thing with the Brotherhood but still.”

>Moreno
“I’d like to say he expects his soldiers to go above and beyond, but in this case he’s probably imagining we’re all like him.”

>Hazel
“And indestructible demigod who eats mini-nukes for breakfast and plays arm wrestle with Deathclaws?

I bet you right now he’s on some super solo mission to win the whole bloody battle and killing them by the hundreds."

>Moreno
“He’d give Frank Horrigan a run for his money that’s for sure. But I think the rest of us mortals have our skins to worry about.”

>Cain
“More or less. I got more skin than these fucks thats for true. I’m just glad to be out of the hole and killing again.”

Cain leapt from cover and fired his rifle into the face of a Marked Man, obliterating his upper half into slag.

“Damn these fuckers are ugly. And Im a goddamn ghoul.”

>Hazel
“Their skins been peeled off, I hear the sand is like salt on their skin. I hear the radiation is so strong here it keeps them from just killing themselves.”

>Cain
“Well they got one part down right. I feel great! I mean, apart from killing again, I feel ten times as strong here.”

>Moreno
“Yeah, well, the rest of us have to keep our helmets on tight. Too much exposure here, and we’re either dead or looking like you.”

>Cain
“Oh shit is that a plasma turret? I wanna try it!”

Riddick and Cain with energy melee weapons melted through the Marked men's machetes and swords, spilling their guts and muscles onto the wall, while Hazel and Moreno sanitizing the rest through firepower with the aid of the LAER bots.

The walls secure, the next phase of the ZAX’s plan continues.

The Bawang Tank rumbled forward, its massive nuclear reactor built 200 years ago still rumbling strong, stable isotopes with halflifes of millennia driving its engine forward with enhanced speed. It flattened everything in its path, the sparse cars left behind, breaking through old building walls, knocking over pillars and supports.

Behind the twin barreled war machine crushing all in its path stuck close a Chinese Flamethrower Tank, surrounded by Shield-Sentry bots and Loaders holding up shields to provide added protection and hide its presence.

From inside its protected bunker Chinese troopers, wearing their new exoarmor, looked upon a their target. A half torn skyscraper looming up ahead, overlooking the area they intended to capture. The whole structure was opening fire, RPG shots, plasma fire, and bullets of every caliber opening up, but at such distances they glanced off the thick armor of the Bawang tank with ease.

True to the ZAX’s prediction, the Marked Men could be expected to open fire even at ranges beyond the effectiveness of their weapons.
After it reached a distance, the tank stopped, and its barrels loaded up. The heavy guns thundered to life, blasting open holes in the building with depleted uranium shells that pierced everything in their path. Everytime an enemy opened fire, two new holes would appear on the building.

Minutes passed and the tank continued to blast away at the structure.
Finally an order was given somewhere far away. Chinese Loaders back at the hexcrete dug ins received new message from the ZAX, coordinates to fire upon. Groups of men in Exoarmor with the help of the CEO’s loaders lifted the napalm shells into the self-propelled artillery vehicle, as crewmen inside followed the machines terminals and screens in the Chinese language detailing trajectories, wind speeds, and corrections.

From the front the crew of the Bawang tank watched as the building lit aflame as napalm shells bursted inside and outside, the black sticky fuel ingiting everything flammable and pouring into the cracks of the structure opened up by the Tank.

As the building burned and smoke prevented anything inside from viewing the outside, the flame tank, under a protection of metallic shield robots, pushed forward. It raised its funnel high and a jet hose of anger and flame doused the building adding to the inferno.

Fires flew up the building, already weakened by the Bawang tank and what was left of its exposed supports exposed to superheated fuel, the building collapsed into a smoking ruin killing everyone and everything inside.

The Chinese superheavy tank Crashed through the scrap wall, opening up another hole through it. As small arms fire and RPG’’s from hidden positions in the city rubble. It withdrew, and through the hole came a whithering barrage of rockets, minigun fire, LAER/Lasers.

Following this intense barrage next burst through the heavy Hazard Bastions, soaking up more small arms fire and spinning their 37mm Autocannons.

*BRRRRRT BRRRRRT BRRRRRT BRRRRRT BRRRRRT*

Armor piercing shells poured into the nearby rubble, killing or suppressing the Marked Men within. This gave an opening for the Chinese Flamethrower tank to move forward and hose down the rubbe entirey, as jet black napalm flames poured into the cracks and crevises.

Hazard robots moved forward once the fires died down enough not to harm them, but it seems the immediate assault of heavy robots and vehicular flame has silenced the Marked Men here.

>>
>>1764698
The omerta's was a total fuck up on our part. The Boomers was technically also a fuck up, but due to miscommunication.
>>
>>1764698
The boomers did the job expected of them, admittedly their shots went a bit too far in my opinion but the losses to the NCR would've been worth it if we held onto the NV area.

As to the Omerta's, that was a problem of lacking any sorts of understanding of what OP was asking us about.
>>
>>1764724
He asked us how we finished the quest "how little we know" People chose the help the Omertas against the Strip
>>
>>1764708
Doesn't the Courier have 10 Luck? How is that implemented?
>>
>>1764744
Except that wasn't specified in any great degree. All that was stated was a choice between having helped them attack the strip or not. No mention of a gas bomb or it being based off a quest in the game or anything.
>>
>>1764744
I imagine the problem was there was a gaggle of players who neither played the games or checked the wikis?
>>
>>1764752
>Doesn't the Courier have 10 Luck? How is that implemented?
It's implemented that we are able to turn bad rolls into good ones.
Like that alien ship fell out of the sky that was two Nat 1's after we took care of killing aliens, and they fuck us over ton of times, we just got a whole alien ship full of alien tech.
>>
>>1764757
At that point we were sorting out the quests the courier did in the Mojave.
So the question of "How did we help the Omerta's to attack the strip, it's referencing the quest.
>>
>>1764757
You have google, but generally I'm gonna agree that the QM deserves a little blame for not being newbie friendly, has he gotten better about that, or is it more a moot point since we're way off course?

>I imagine the problem was there was a gaggle of players who neither played the games or checked the wikis?
I wasn't on when anons picked the chose to help the Omertas, I guess they wanted to go with the Wild Card ending, but it backfired on them. But in the end we were able to pull out of it
>>
>>1764777
Well we're going far off the rails, so knowledge of the games is less important right now. Unless we want to stick our nose in Fallout 4.
>>
>>1764752
It isn't to be honest since we've not ever taken part in a game of chance or anything.

>>1764776
I know but it wasn't made clear that by helping them we'd be making a poison gas bomb. I assumed it would be getting them somethings bigger than rifles like grenade launchers or a few mini-guns or something.

>>1764777
Eh, it's a complex problem.
>>
>>1764789
We did not help them. We just didn't do anything. Iirc.
>>
>>1764788
So in terms of New Vegas and DLC, you guys lost the Mojave to the Legion, still control Big MT, are trying to take over the Divide, generally ignoring Zion, and somehow Elijah is still in charge of the Sierra Madre?

And is Arcade the only companion still alive/on our side?
>>
>>1765060
Yes, yes, yes, kinda, kinda and no to all those.
>>

>>

Elijah seems to have, in a way yet unknown, returned from certain death after you locked him in. The prevailing theory by Christine, who is with you at BigMT, is he had figured out a way to hack the Replicator to produce him food, water, and maybe oxygen via the abundance of sierra madre chips there, and then broke through the vault over time.

You have many companions with you (some modded)

You manage to recover enough. Luckily, either you were dreaming or imaginining it, your adamantium skeleton did not break.

Dungeon lord seems cool
>>
>>1766818
I've been with handler ever since his Polish merc guys. He is kill since he got a IRL family to take care of.

But I think homesteader quest is like the Viking quest. Just set 1 thousand year before the Vikings in the late bronze age. Before Rome became a superpower. So we it's fun since we get to build our log cabin out in the middle of the wildness
>>
>>1766844
Dragon Lord. I'm that type of anon that like the zero to hero kind of quest. Not being overpowered than most of the people. We're just the same like all the others, but it's what we do that set us apart. Like building a simple log cabin, and keeping the bears and wolves from eating our livestock
>>
>>1765083
Huh, I'll need to stick with this quest then. I kind of gave up from the start when the initial players memed their way into being the Enclave, but it seems like that was too hasty.
>>
>>1766872
Whenever there's a possibility for power armor in a post-apocalyptic setting the players will always attempt to be the Enclave. It's the damnedest thing.
>>
>>1766872
Whats wrong with the Enclave? If you dont play them edgy you can have a pretty interesting faction. Especially with all the tension between the hardcore purists and the mutie sympathisers.
>>
>>1766880
I mean what else are you going to pick? NCR? BoS??
>>
>>1766888
Something new and unique would be ideal, really. Which is what this has turned into, but it's more by the players' hand being forced that way than anything else.

>>1766885
Seems to me that when you don't play the Enclave edgy you just get a bland "We want to have power armor and do right" faction.
>>
>>1766909
Also there is also the thing with players wanting to go hard mode.

Going with NCR we're going to be under someone command. Legion we'll be under Ceaser.

BoS well something. The players wanted to be there own man free from being under someone else's control. The Enclave was something that fit that bill since we start with only 6 old dudes trying to make some changes in the wasteland.
>>
>>1766888
I mean ideally it'd be the Wild Card semi-technocratic faction trying to maintain the Mojave as an independent nation because there isn't really sufficient infrastructure for a nation as big as pre-war America to maintain itself (unsafe roads, not really any horses or cars or phone lines), which kind of seems to be what you guys are doing now though you fucked up a lot and the QM seems to be shoving in a lot of lore-unfriendly mods to other factions to add level scaling.
>>
>>1766885
There's nothing to the Enclave but edge and jingoism.
>>
>>1766938
I like that we picked Enclave.

>>1766936
The mod lore I don't say that it's bad. It adds a more different and unique game
>>
>>1766936
And have Yes-man run things? Waiting for the inevitable Robot Uprising DLC.

>>1766938
Whats wrong with a bit of shotgun diplomacy? I feel the Fallout Doomsday mod did a fantastic job of making a fun Enclave to play with. Even with the X-Files bits (which were cool) this would blend right in here.
>>
>>1766961
Yes Man would have been preferable to Caesar. Hell, just letting House take the Mojave and then ditch the region would have been better than what you guys did.

What happened to those two anyway?
>>
>>1766974
House should be a popsickle in the Lucky 38 vault waiting for us to revive him and who knows where that robot is. Probably becoming another villain somewhere far away.
>>
>>1766974
We put house in a coma. Yesmans around here somewhere. We have him, just haven't done anything with him.
>>
>>1766974
What we did was roll like shit. Nat 1s left and right. We don't control the dice we just roll them.

House is asleep in Lucky 38 is still alive and we can wake him up in the future. Caesar got the Mojave due to Nat 1 fuck ups. Caesar still has brain cancer but he find a big strong man to become Caesar after his death.

NCR is full Nazi and pushing the Legion back. Oddball stole our tech and gave it to the NCR
>>
>>1766985
>>1766990
The Legion hasn't conquered the 38 yet? Also I figure we should shove House's brain into a disarmed think tank/whatever the Big MT scientists have, since it seems the most productive use of him.
>>
>>1767004
The 38 is in legion hands yes. They havent found the hidden underground facilities (at least since last we went to retrieve Mr. NEW VEGAS)
>>
>>1767004
>The Legion hasn't conquered the 38 yet?
They got the whole Mojave area, you know that statue of two people handshaking. Legion own it and melted it down into a bull.

They just didn't get into House's body or underground area. And we should have something set up before we go and try to get House
>>
>>1766990
You guys still didn't handle the quests very well and I feel like playing both sides against each other by trying to weaken the NCR was careless.
>>
>>1767004
Can we not wake up House until we get New Vegas back please? It's better for us if he wakes up to his shining city, which will probably convince him it's better if he works under us.
>>
>>1767017
>You guys still didn't handle the quests very well and I feel like playing both sides against each other by trying to weaken the NCR was careless.
Anon that was long ago, we are not making the same mistakes that we made. And right now even if both sides are weaken, NCR right now it's a powerhouse.
>>
>>1767026
>Anon that was long ago, we are not making the same mistakes that we made.
Aren't some anons planning to strengthen the Legion and MLA?
>>
>>1767034
>Aren't some anons planning to strengthen the Legion and MLA?
For now, we're not strengthening any of them. The plans with the MLA was selling jet to them just to get supplies. Jet don't strengthen them. With the Legion there was plans thrown around but it seems real risky doing anything with them.

For now we're dealing with the Marked men, and trying to figure out how are they getting supplies.
>>

>>
>>1767051

We would have an entire river in New Vegas to rebuild the Hover dam with, the only problem would be rebuilding the power plants.
>>
>>1767051
We made a machine that literally turns rocks into gold and we have Magick Concrete and you are worried we cant rebuild the dam the originally made in the 30s? Oh ye of little faith.

The bigger question is how are going to push the legion back without the NCR gobbling up the land.
>>
>>1767069
>The bigger question is how are going to push the legion back without the NCR gobbling up the land.
The NCR is overextending itself, they will have to deal with rebel forces popping up in the land they got. Our pop and army is too small to do any real holding of New Vegas, we have to get the divide to get that sweet loot, to make our robot army
>>
>>1767069
>We made a machine that literally turns rocks into gold.
We have yet to get that or else we would just be pumping tons of robots out right now without having to salvage Divide metal.
>>
>>1767069
The NCR did sign the boarder treaty saying that they would honor any lands we conquer.

I doubt many of us expect them to keep their word though.

>The NCR did sign the boarder treaty saying that they would honor any lands we conquer.
They did?! Shit why aren't we teleporting robots into New Vegas right now?
>>
>>1767104
Well, we're learning how to Urban combat at the moment, and building up a force that is more than 200 assorted robots.

>>1767100
The NCR has Honoured the treaty so far. No reason to suspect they won't honor it in respect of right to conquer.
>>
>>1767104
>They did?! Shit why aren't we teleporting robots into New Vegas right now?
Become then we got the Legion to deal with and they got ton more troops and defends to deal with. Also we can't have two front fight at the same time, we have our hands full in the divide.
>>
>>1767116
>Become then we got the Legion to deal with and they got ton more troops and defends to deal with.
You mean the Legion who threw every man they had west? Leaving New Vegas empty?
>>
>>1767099
Wrong. We already have that but at this stage it is still inefficient enough to not be used massively. Supposedly our ZAX is on the job.

>>1767109
And let us just HAVE New Vegas? Dream on. They can pull whatever crap and say its theirs and we dont have enough troops to really say anything about it.
>>
>>1767132
>Wrong. We already have that but at this stage it is still inefficient enough to not be used massively. Supposedly our ZAX is on the job.
What i mean is that we can't turn rocks into gold yet until we get more power or fissile material.
>>
>>1767130
>You mean the Legion who threw every man they had west? Leaving New Vegas empty?
They would keep some men in New Vegas, and I would think there are reinforcements coming across the river, and that was a few turns ago. They just armed the men they had, and send them off, because it was faster than wait for the reinforcements that are surely in New Vegas by now.
We're also going to give NCR a easy time, they will kick us out. They will said since they held the land 3 years ago, it's their right to have it back

>>1767150
OP did say rocks into gold was the not the best thing to do. The more mass something has already the less amount of energy it will use.
>>
>>1767104

We dont have a teleporter pad inside new vegas, just in the remnant bunker.

Were currently at war in the divide and having a two front war is a bad idea.

The legion vastly outnumbers us and our army is only some 200robots.

I still dont believe the NCR will let us keep it if we do manage to take it.

Its an idea I can see us doing later down the road when our production catches up.
>>
>>1767132
I mean, what do they really want New Vegas for anyways? Originally, it was for the dam, but that's busted and they solved their power issues. Any entertainment value from it is in Reno.
Why would they not let us keep it?
>>
>>1767169
>I mean, what do they really want New Vegas for anyways? Originally, it was for the dam, but that's busted and they solved their power issues. Any entertainment value from it is in Reno.
Why would they not let us keep it?

Just that the Legion was able to build New Vegas up with Roman tech, using the river to make the place green, making it a farming area, filled with buildings that can be used at a front line pasted the river. So yeah since the Legion did lot of improvements the NCR would want it. It's still a gem. They can alway repair the dam, and it's still a bridge to get troops across
>>
>>1767156
>The more mass something has already the less amount of energy it will use.
Wait i thought he was using Density not Mass.
>>
>>1767193
Yeah, but fighting us over New Vegas when there is all the other legion territory to claim? Seems like it would be easier for them to let us take New Vegas while they take most of everything else.

Not like the Colorado only exists next to New Vegas.
>>
>>1767167
I agree
>>
>>1767208
New Vegas has the easier way to the Legion. They can just use the bridge and get to Colorado. The other ways will take too much time, and effort. Also with the river and farm lands they can fed and watered their troops
>>
>>1767229
There has to be other ways across the Colorado, not just crossing the dam. and there should be farmland all up and down the Colorado, not just this one spot next to Vegas.
The NCR won't screw with us over something as tangible worthless to them as New Vegas is.
>>
>>1767206
Dont think too much about it. The terminology is all over the place on that one.

Did net us a boon though.
>>
At this point, New Vegas is a Morale victory. No one really needs it. Ceasrt has it for his arena, and as a symbol that he won over the NCR. President Hitler wants it, because that will show evident proof that he is better in every way that the previous president is.
>>
>>1767236
Google Maps is your friend anon.

To get to Arizona you have to either go through South California or New Vegas. If the NCR goes more north they will reach Utah which is MLA land.

>>1767255
That's the point anon, you understand
>>
>>1767255
Actually i recall QM saying the Hover dam's turbines will still be working despise the dam being destroyed, so we could build a replicator in New Vegas, hook it to the Hover Dam and use the energy and surrounding dirt to make robots and other stuff.
>>
>>1767258
Why wouldn't they go through South California then?

Also they don't really have a way to get to New Vegas- they're cut off at the Long 15 that leads from the west into the Mojave.
>>
>>1767266
That is true, but it would be just as feasible to build a nuclear reactor to do the same thing. Especially factoring in the millitary cost to take and hold.

In the end, its something we want but not something we need.
>>
>>1767278
>Why wouldn't they go through South California then?
The thing that the Legion has going for them is using the desert to stop the advancement of the NCR. South California is a desert, and maybe it's more defend that the NCR can't punch through it. That's why they are going more north in there attack
>>
>>1767281
>That is true, but it would be just as feasible to build a nuclear reactor to do the same thing.
How much time and resources would building a second nuclear reactor take? Might be easyer for us just to hook a replicator to hover dam ans start pumping our robots.
>>
>>1767289
Our solar farm took 2 to 3 turns. Im thinking the same for a nuclear reactor, especially using Replicators to make all the parts.

It would probably only take about 1 turn to build your replicator, and maybe a second to hook it up to the dam, but that would also come with millitary actions to keep it defended.
>>
>>1767294
>Our solar farm took 2 to 3 turns. Im thinking the same for a nuclear reactor, especially using Replicators to make all the parts.

Just think about it, the more construction robots we have, and the more resources we have we can get out many more solar farms, and nuclear reactor in a turn or so.
>>
>>1767306
Im excited for it

>>1767306
We should really begin immediately building some new power plants, once we can generate Fissile materials we basically get free resources.

Hey guys, good discussion going on while I was away. I am with family right now so I'm going to do my best to give you an update at least once a night.
>>
>>1768220
Or well, actually it might have to wait a bit more. I'll be able to post regularly soon though so quest isn't dead
>>
>>1767526
The problem with solar is that it requires lots of space. The Palo Verde reactor can produce around 34 GWh per year. To get the same effect with solar you would have to fill nearly 100 acres of land with solar farm. Considering you then have to keep it clean for it to work properly (this is taken from photovoltaic cells). This represents a potential security risk as well, not to mention the fun little radstorms we have around the place.

The nuclear option would be located deep within the mountain and be safe from attack. It would also be free from output fluctuation since we can generate fuel for it (thats fues as pure as we want, no enriching required) and it doesnt rely on outside factors.

A tidbit from an article:
A previous NREL report, “Land-use Requirements and the Per-capita Solar Footprint for Photovoltaic Generation in the United States,” had estimated that if solar energy was to meet 100 percent of all electricity demand in the US, it would take up 0.6 percent of the total area in the country.

So while solar remains an option, unless we can secure huge areas of land and keep them clean 24/7 the nuclear power plant wins out. This is especially true since Fallout US has been researching nuclear tech for over 120 years now, instead of transistors. I imagine the reactors of the Fallout universe being considerably better at conserving fuel (energy crisis) and producing far more power over IRL counterparts (nuclear powered cars, PA and more).

>>1768422
How long are you with family? Try to define a specific time when you post so we are not hanging and you dont have to worry about constantly having to post. Once a night updates and comment is fine. Just something regular so the players know whats going on.
>>
>>1769005
Doesn't matter with Fallout science.
>>
>>1769014
?
>>
>>1769018
The IRL facts you wrote about solar farms, they don't matter since we are using Fallout science so unless QM says you're right those numbers can't be applied.
You have a point about the radstorms though, but i think we still have some space in BigMT's shield-thingamajig to put a solar farm in.
>>
>>1769044
That was to illustrate the difference between IRL power sources. With Fallouts fondness of nuclear everything I imagine a dedicated nuclear power plant would produce far more than its IRL counterpart. And at 100 acres of collectros (thats only collectors, not support structure) I dont see solar being cheaper in materials. Especially since the reactor is mostly concrete with a bit of meta for the machinery, whereas solar needs metal and electronic components for the structure and masses of Si and metals for the actual cells. So not that cheap.
>>
>>1769044
Fallout Science is still based [however loosely] on actual science An existing fallout science would point towards Nuclear Reactors as the most efficient.
>>
>>1769059
>And at 100 acres of collectros (thats only collectors, not support structure) I dont see solar being cheaper in materials.
Again, you're using IRL numbers right there but we don't know how efficient Fallout collectors are so they can't be applied.

Also it's likely that we can't replicate a old world nuclear reactor perfectly (despite having one underground) so all those 120 years of research won't be applied.
>>1769070
True but still, we have replicators and laser guns so we can't expect solar farms to be 100% like their IRL versions.
>>
>>1769075
Why couldnt we? I guarantee you a facility like BigMT has plans for decent nuclear plants and material is no issue (replicator and everything). Also, considering that we have literally seen only one solar plant (and that was for weapons anyway) I dont see solar cells having lots of research done and thus being better than IRL counterparts (which are reliant on the transitor, which is not widely spread in Fallout. Barely discovered, as I understand. So the solar is further hampered in its productivity.).
>>
>>1769091
>Why couldnt we?
Same reason why replicators and other tech couldn't be replicated 100% for awhile.
>>
>>1769094
I dont think you understand how nuclear reactor are built/operate. The firts one was built in 1942. They are not complicated and they dont rely on superscience. The thing that is improved is efficiency. And the materials needed are not otherworldy or supercomplex. In the simplest terms its a concrete coffin with a metal reactor core. This holds fuel rods with a nuclear moderator and the medium for conducting heat/cooling. Aside from the reactor the rest is literally a steam turbine.

Link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor

They are not hard to build, ESPECIALLY for us.
>>
>>1769106
And you don't understand that i think IRL stuff doesn't apply unless QM says so.
Also fallout uses nuclear fusion reactors not fission reactors.
>>
>>1769106
This has a comparison of Hoover Dam as well as better hydro and nuclear plants.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_power_stations
>>
>>1769106
Actually keep giving me nuclear facts, QM might give us a nuclear boon for it.
>>
>>1769119
So we can not, with the whole power of BigMT as well as all the data here, figure out how to upscale a microfusion cell? And EVEN if we cant, fusion trumps out by leaps and bounds. Do you just have a thing with solar?
>>
>>1769126
I was the guy that got the last one. And I agree that its ultimately up to QM but as far as lore goes, nuclear has had way more attention than solar. Add to that real-world differences and I dont see why it would ever be in favor of solar outside of space.
>>
>>1769135
Do you just have a thing with solar?
Nope, i don't care what power plant we build, you just decided to trow IRL numbers at me out of the blue.
>>
>>1769126
And if we are worried about the environment or the reactor blowing up we can always go thorium. Very safe and produces far less waste.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_fluoride_thorium_reactor

Also, thorium is very common compared to uranium. Ridiculously so.
>>
>>1769149
Although it is up to QM to make thing up he still has to take into account IRL facts, however loosely. At this stage and at the Fallout levels of solar tech nuclear should be the clear long-term big-scale choice.
>>
>>1769157
>Although it is up to QM to make thing up he still has to take into account IRL facts, however loosely.
I disagree.
>>
>>1769157
>Up to the QM
>still has to take into account IRL facts

Lolwhat, Are you new to the fallout series mate?
>>
>>1769162
Fallout, at its core, has a logic to it. It may contain FEV, tesla tubes of the future and nuclear fusion that is frankly ridiculous but it ties it together and sticks to its crazy. QM has chosen Fallout as his setting and although he has ample leeway to change things he still has to stick to the core ideas. If not then we are no longer playing in a Fallout game. The last time this almost happened people were mighty upset. I also think it is easier for QM to rely on IRL counterparts to compare "powerlevels" to.
>>
>>1769165
There is generally some basis in facts, rather than pre-conceived notions on how things work. So things generally have somewhat realistic, just exaggerated.
>>
>>1769169
>The last time this almost happened people were mighty upset.
Ok i'm curious now, what happened and where?
>>
>>1769165
Care to elaborate? Last i checked guns still kill, power was required for lights to work, technology was largely along the same lines (excepting the few big additions of FEV, psychics and the like) and resources were fought over and scarce.
>>
>>1769173
The two-or-three occasions where the NCR power level has come up and the associated concerns over scaling as well as my gripe with the replicator tech.
>>
>>1769176
It would require more research then what we've put into it to make Solar power long term and the big scale of choice. It wasn't really 'touched' on for most things expect for NV and a few other. Everything was nuclear.

Also, Fallout lore tends to stray heavily compared to the real world every now and again. So its not up to us or the 'real world' but the GM at the end of the day.
>>
>>1769186
Agree with you but if QM says we cant build a basic nuclear plant with what we have, even a fission one, I will be seriously disappointed. As outlined in the text before, they are not super miracle tech. Their problem is fuel and right now, fuel is no issue for us. Power is.
>>
>>1769195
I agree with you anon. I also want a nuclear reactor, let's just keep the fail-safes active so no meltdowns will happen.
>>
I'd just like to pitch in on this power point.

Let's assume that we can disassemble the Big mt combination breeder-reactor-geothermal power source and understand it's technology precisely and perfectly. Hell maybe even improve on it. Let's also assume we can manage to secure the sheer mass of nuclear material needed to kick start such a reactor. Which although not impossible certainly will be difficult however I can think of a few ways. Let's also assume we can produce such a reactor not only quickly but cost effectively compared to material, labour and time invested into developing, building and fuelling for just one of these.

I am just going to say that for all the investment we made into this one reactor, which we are going to struggle to create more of for a fair bit of time thanks to us needing our labour elsewhere and nuclear material being something we rarely have a sufficient stock of to do it. That we could've probably not only generated more power using solar arrays, more cheaply, but also more quickly.

Especially since a significant portion of the costs from them are in terms of Hexcrete. Something we plan to automate soon and a significant portion of the material costs can also be eliminated by use of the non-fissile replicators.

Either way I'm just going to say we wait for OP's word on this since I'd rather focus on things that matter more highly in my opinion than what is keeping the light on, since either way we get the power we need.

For example I am trying to figure out creating a Utah colony, developing additional ways to get materials, weakening the NCR, strengthening the MLA or figuring out ways of making our army stronger.
>>
>>1769332
You are assuming we want to build a breeder reactor. I am talking about a fission reactor that produces literally 10x more power than Hoover Dam (Japan was running it in the 90s already, finally shut down in 2011 due to the earthquake). This is not that complicated. The materials are mundane and the fuel lasts us for years. The breeder reactor seemingly uses no fuel and that does seem complex, which is why I dont want to touch that when we can just make fuel out of dirt. QM has also stated that with the added power from Hoover we could seriously start using the replicator. Now add 10x that power and see what happens.
>>
>>1769339
Except we'd need a constant fuel supply of good quality fissile material to feed into your fission reactor since it ain't self fuelling which our technology and industry wouldn't allow since we lack the access to any sorts of ores of nuclear material.

Before you mention the non-fissile replicator making this point redundant: it's not efficient, logical or even possible to take the power from your reactor, to then supply the fuel for your reactor. As since that would require at the very least 100% efficiency from the reactor, the replicator and the cables and shit to even be able to be sustained. Let alone to generate anything.

As to that line about the QM, as has been stated by me so many times I wonder if I'd be better off just making it a part of every post, that was specifically in reference to producing the mass of nuclear / fissile material needed for another breeder reactor.

So once again I reiterate: we can't realistically in my opinion make use of nuclear power by any means as of this moment in time.
>>
>>1769342
What are you talking about?? The amount of fuel needed for a reactor per year is small. Further, it does not have to be weapons-grade enriched. Thus, if we use the replicator and chuck steel/fissile into it to turn into appropriate nuclear fuel (the power is not for creating matter but reorganizing it) we can easily keep up with the demand.

Please read up on this stuff.

Also, the solar array requires so much metal and other fine components to come close to the reactor output it is not worth it. Even taking into account the need to make fuel.
>>
>>1769345
>What are you talking about? The amount of fuel needed for a reactor per year is small.
Unless it's around a few grams per month we ain't gonna be able to afford it.

>Further, it does not have to be weapons-grade enriched.
Never said it did.

>Thus, if we use the replicator and chuck steel/fissile into it to turn into appropriate nuclear fuel (the power is not for creating matter but reorganising it) we can easily keep up with the demand.
Not really. OP stated that with our current grid or our current surplus, can't remember which, we can generate a percentage of the nuclear material needed for a single micro-fusion cell over a significant period of time.

You might very well increase the grid's available power but you are asking for a significant investment of material and power into supplying your system with fissile material. It might be the case that we make a profit in terms of power but I doubt this fact, especially since we can state for certain that producing more solar power is not only within our technical capabilities but also cost effective and won't barring unforeseen circumstances or attacks, involve a constant intake of power and metal to sustain which means over time it saves us metal for more important or efficient uses.

As to the solar array requiring "so much metal and other fine components" I would point out our current solar arrangement was produced quickly and without any sorts of problems. We could easily seek to create more of these without any difficulties or significant investments. Also your reactor will require the same fine components as our current solar set up since they both work off of heating up water.

Also I am damn well aware of what our technological capabilities are in regards to the replicators so don't speak down to me as if you are aware of some capability of theirs that I am not.
>>
Guys if uranium is what we need. There is ton of uranium in Vault 88, in the East coast Commonwealth.
>>
>>1769352
>Unless it's around a few grams per month we ain't gonna be able to afford it.
What the hell are you talking about??

>we can generate a percentage of the nuclear material needed for a single micro-fusion cell over a significant period of time.
This is, if we just make it on power alone. We can churn out robots and we somehow cant turn fissile materials into slighlty better materials? What?

>Also your reactor will require the same fine components as our current solar set up since they both work off of heating up water.
What? Do a google search on photovoltaic cells. I am not talking about a boiler. The components of the solar cell itself are hard to make and considering how large it would have to be this is whack. The supports for the cells alone are more than is needed for the whole reactor. 100 acres man. And that is only about half of the reactor output the Japanese had. Please read up on this.
>>
>>1769358
Don't worry about it anon. We have two anons in this quest that will always and I mean always argue about every little thing. So don't take it to heart. I for one think it's a good idea for a nuclear power plant, since we can't go using 100 acres as we don't have space.
>>
>>1769358

I meant that solar can produce more power on less of a surface area, whereas nuclear would have had to remain the same in terms of efficiency. Which is the impression I got from you.
>>
>>1769358
>What the hell are you talking about?
That is the current capacity of our grid for non-fissile replication of nuclear material according to OP as I stated. Based either of our entire grid or our surplus.

>This is, if we just make it on power alone. We can churn out robots and we somehow cant turn fissile materials into slighlty better materials? What?
I don't follow your point. And the quotation wasn't on purely power-to-matter generation if that is what you mean.

Also you aren't talking about turning fissile material into fuel. You are talking about turning steel into fissile material.

>What? Do a google search on photo-voltaic cells. I am not talking about a boiler.
Well then you are objectively wrong since that is what our solar power tower is you fool.

>The components of the solar cell itself are hard to make and considering how large it would have to be this is whack. The supports for the cells alone are more than is needed for the whole reactor. 100 acres man. And that is only about half of the reactor output the Japanese had. Please read up on this.
Irrelevant based off of the previous point.

Also as to all this shit based around the real world, you'd have to run it past OP but based off of what we've seen in Fallout and my own experiences I am sooner going to believe that solar panels which are in the real world only 22% efficient in many cases and areas can easily be improved by Fallout tech. Not to imply reactors couldn't.

Still this is a entirely pointless argument since we've got higher priorities than this. As I have previously stated I figuratively couldn't give a damn what keeps the lights on so long as we can actually get onto the fun, interesting and important things like fighting wars and shit.
>>
>>1769374
>That is the current capacity of our grid for non-fissile replication of nuclear material according to OP as I stated.
So you are saying that whatever we feed into it we can get a miniscule amount of fissile? That was precisely the energy-to-matter conversion.

>Also you aren't talking about turning fissile material into fuel. You are talking about turning steel into fissile material.
Yes. NUCLEAR fuel. At an ernichment percent of 3,5-5 it is no big feat for our tech. Trivial, actually.

>Well then you are objectively wrong since that is what our solar power tower is you fool.
Well, fool, I was talking about the complexity required to build the photovoltaic cells our solar plant uses in addition to the liquid salt tower, if that escaped your attention.

>As I have previously stated I figuratively couldn't give a damn what keeps the lights on
Then let the people who do and who actually base their claims on data rather than "My own Experiences"
>>
>>1769380
>So you are saying that whatever we feed into it we can get a miniscule amount of fissile? That was precisely the energy-to-matter conversion.
No that isn't possible with our technology. As has been previously stated, we can't turn energy into matter.

That was a general question asked of OP of how much fissile material our current grid can sustain the production of. It wasn't specified on if it was involving using dirt or metal so we can assume it is the one which works in your favour and that it was dirt which means the efficiency of the system rises since you want to burn metal for fuel.

>Yes. NUCLEAR fuel. At an ernichment percent of 3,5-5 it is no big feat for our tech. Trivial, actually.
True but it isn't a question of having a percentage. It'a question of actually having to have some high-density god damn material which consumes immense power to create a few grams.

>Well, fool, I was talking about the complexity required to build the photo-voltaic cells our solar plant uses in addition to the liquid salt tower, if that escaped your attention.
Well I fail to see why we'd be using something which absorbs energy to reflect the energy at the god damn power tower you fuck-wit since that'd almost certainly reduce the efficiency of the tower. Although I suppose it would still work but I fail to see why we'd mix the two functions since they'd work separately and thus produce more power.

>Then let the people who do and who actually base their claims on data rather than "My own Experiences"
And to that I say fuck you.

Still we can just wait for OP to return and say either that one of us is right or neither of us are. However I want to actually do something productive with my time so can we discuss something that actually matters?

Sufficient firepower solves any problem. That or we get the Forecaster in to kill it but then he'd get stronger. Alternatively we try and do it ourselves (maybe go on another spirit journey using some help from the Sorrow's shaman). Or we call in a few shamans and priests and see what they can do.

>The Big Bad that's apparently pulling all the strings?
I doubt it's that but it is certainly worth some concern. It might be the one making the Marked Men fight so well and shit but I doubt it's that high up the chain.

This I will ask QM. This would, again, not be reasonable, considering what I presented at the original argument.

>True but it isn't a question of having a percentage. It'a question of actually having to have some high-density god damn material which consumes immense power to create a few grams.
On hold till we get word from QM. Still disagree. Even with the increased energy consumption to produce denser matter, we would only have to pay for the difference, s to speak, so feeding it fissile, for example, would mitigate this.

>Well I fail to see why we'd be using something which absorbs energy to reflect the energy at the god damn power tower you fuck-wit since that'd almost certainly reduce the efficiency of the tower. Butthurt much?

Except feeding it fissile material is pointless since you are feeding it fuel to make fuel.

>And you know what?, I agree. And you know what else? The dual setup is what we have now.
I swear it isn't but fuck if I can be bothered to find it in the archive.

>Also nothing to really do until QM gives the turn update.
Not true. For one we need to figure out our plans for our military and shit. Are we going to focus our salvage from the Divide into ground forces or drones to get us a air force? Construction robots? Farming robots? Are we going to spend it all expanding our power grid?

Then there is the question of what we are actually going to do with our turn and also the question of if we are going to tell our people about the wiped brains and how we need more of them and shit. Plus there is the question of how to make our forces stronger and shit.

Personally I feel this can be most easily achieved by changing all of our Securitrons over to either dual LAER's or dual Laser Gatling rather than the current mix of lasers and 9 mm's. However this makes cover much more effective against our forces since energy weapons lack the ability to easily pierce barriers. However I feel that this problem could be solved by the application of artillery and air support. While our ground forces work to suppress the enemy, allowing our axebots to close and eliminate any forces that remain.

Not to mention the fact we need to settle on if we are going to trade with the MLA for more shit any time soon. As I'd like to get the population increase and any raw materials we can as soon as possible since I want to use that as the basis of the Utah colonisation project while we ship more stuff in and shit.

One more thing we need to consider is getting a small team together and going on another quick jaunt to the dead BOS chapter. There were vehicles and tonnes of suits of PA that were somewhat salvageable and shit. Stuff we could make use of for studying as well as for our own use. Plus anything else we can harvest in the region they knew about.

Right. I personally think we should figure out who our enemies are, or who the puppeteers are. The QM has confirmed there's a malicious third party manipulating events to ensure other factions progress at far higher rates than they should. It's been confirmed for the Marked Men and the NCR, and I think by extension any other faction that's been having ridiculous progress even in the best of circumstances. Perhaps they’ve been directing them to act more maliciously than they would otherwise?

President/Fuhrer Yaunker/Hitler may have actually gotten his MC-level stats and sudden rise to fame by effectively making a deal with the devil and cooperating with the puppeteers.
The Marked Men may either be led by these puppeteers, or just some dudes that decided leading a bunch of Flayed Ones would be a good idea.

Who are these puppeteers? Those shamans we saw leading the Marked Men, the Metro 2033 or STALKER-esque spirits, psykers like the Forecaster, psychics, syndicates, the cultists, aliens, some other entity? Any ideas on how to expose them? What they’d be weak to? How they managed to get the cooperation of other factions or individuals?

>>
>>1769407
If I had to guess then I'd say that the puppeteers aren't human. By that I don't mean mutants or aliens or even spirits.

As we are all aware, in Fallout the "Old Gods" or what you might prefer to call them, are a somewhat dangerous power. Their powers are seen in multiple places in multiple games providing people with dark power and they have their followers and rituals and shit. From Fallout 4's borers and the statue within, to Fallout 3's Point lookout and elsewhere. There are evil things that go about in the dark and act by some malicious plan of some entity not of this world, something immortal and immoral and inhuman and inhumane. I feel and fear that OP has decided these shall be our final foes. Assuming we do win against Elijah and the rest.

A good plan would be to rally to our cause those with knowledge of such powers. They who have wandered the dark places and broken bread with the devil and all his ilk. We must seek the priestesses of the Legion, the shamans of every tribe, the priests of the cross-god and those who bear the sight. We must gather these people and ready ourselves for the coming war where it may be the case that no weapon of men shall break their skin and no call or cry shall stir their hearts. Yet we did receive knowledge that other groups bear arms that might be of use. That the Brotherhood born of the capital waste are capable of helping should they be on our side and it is my hope that it comes to pass they shall be.

Yet I fear I see the plan these dark gods covet already taking shape but I shall detail this vision of mine of their goals to you in hopes you might spot a weakness that we can take them apart from.

These beings born o'malice act to bring about a world unknowing of them, one unprepared for them. Thus they strengthen the NCR. That which despises and disperses the tribals and would see their religions thrown to the wayside, forgotten by all. This is their plan and their craftiest tactic. To see the NCR eliminate all who know of them and don't follow them like lambs to the slaughter. Thus they assist them to take down the Legion, who has a flock of such wise women that might oppose them in due time, but they prevent them defeating the MLA. For the MLA contains those who would seek to bargain for favour and obey those creatures and most unholy of unholiest beings.

This is why they act against us and strengthen the Marked Men mishaps they seek to delay our growth. But another idea would be that the Marked Men have began to praise their most sour of names in their darkest places or that they seek to use them in coming days to defeat one of their enemies. The main point is this. There are foul forces at play here and I have only the most failing of ways to survive. We must hope that my predictions are of a false sort and that the future we face is a brighter one.

However I doubt the spirits which bear the scars of this place are the puppeteers.

>Except feeding it fissile material is pointless since you are feeding it fuel to make fuel.
If that is the case then moot point. We just chuck fissile in until the end of days. Power problem solved.

>I swear it isn't but fuck if I can be bothered to find it in the archive.
Oooh yes it is. Talked with the QM about it.

Otherwise we have to get out a few more robots, standardize the things and add air power. Build a nuclear plant underground, which should last us a long while and turn our attention to figuring out the psychic crap. We can trade with the MLA on the down-low and get more brains from random slaves. Why we would tell the general populace what we do I dont get. Those who work with brains understand what it takes (our brain as well as the ZAX AI were fine with it and Arcade is a pansy anyway). Utah should be delayed for a while since we have enough resources in the divide for now and we can build a few more farms underground. Our population is not that big yet and we dont make that much fuel. With the nuclear plant we can even think about going full electric. The BoS plan I support but we have to be real careful. Also figure out the psychic protection first. Could go badly otherwise.
>>
>>1769421
>If that is the case then moot point. We just chuck fissile in until the end of days. Power problem solved.
Except my whole problem is that it will need a constant supply of fissile material which makes it long term an expensive investment. I respect you disagree and feel that short term the power is worth this but I'd rather focus all nuclear material either into weapons to turn Elijah into a glowing pit in the earth or things that we can put into a big "bomb-proof" box and ignore rather than something that has to be somewhat accessible for refuelling. Still this is pointless.

>Oooh yes it is. Talked with the QM about it.
Really? Well that is dumb.

>Otherwise we have to get out a few more robots, standardise the things and add air power.
Agreed.

>Build a nuclear plant underground, which should last us a long while
Can't be bothered arguing over this anymore. Fair enough it seems useful but I am worried by it.

>turn our attention to figuring out the psychic crap.
There's a fair bit of research already but certainly. We can figure out a defence or a detector or something.

>We can trade with the MLA on the down-low and get more brains from random slaves. Why we would tell the general populace what we do I dont get. Those who work with brains understand what it takes (our brain as well as the ZAX AI were fine with it and Arcade is a pansy anyway).
Because if they find out we've been doing that shit and never told them they'd get pissed which a fair few will anyway but the sooner we tell the less. Plus it's something I feel would certainly come up at some point and was something raised by OP if I remember rightly as a thing we needed to address.

>Utah should be delayed for a while since we have enough resources in the divide for now and we can build a few more farms underground. Our population is not that big yet and we don't make that much fuel.
True but the point of the Utah expansion is to facilitate trade with the MLA and the housing of slaves gotten from them and shit. Plus we can easily produce a large amount of fuel from Utah thanks to it's forests.

>With the nuclear plant we can even think about going full electric.
Not really but I know what you mean.

>The BoS plan I support but we have to be real careful.
Good to know.

>Also figure out the psychic protection first. Could go badly otherwise.
Eh, it's fairly rare to find psychic things and even then they are usually pretty selective in what they can effect / do. We'd be fine most likely even if we did find one.

Riddick certainly could. Cain probably. The rest of our companions probably as well but lesserly so. Then there is our troops who we know too little about.

Besides aircraft, the Chinese vassal military forces, power, trade and such? Dunno.

>I would also like to switch vehicles from fuel to nuclear or some such to reduce the need for bulky tanks and refuelling often. Alien battery and electric would work too.
Nuclear would be expensive, so military / industry only or trains and shit. Same with alien batteries, might work for civilian uses like bikes and cars but we don't plan on making those for now.

>>1769453
With family currently I think.

A Fusion reactor from the source im reading says we would need around 157 fuel assemblys every 4 years. Im currently reading up on how much it takes to make a fuel assembly, but a reload every 4 years [using conventional sciance] may end up being worthwhile for the power it produces and the fisile material it will generate every 4 years in terms of spent fuel rods.

http://www.nuclear-power.net/nuclear-power-plant/nuclear-fuel/fuel-consumption-of-conventional-reactor/
>>
https://www.nei.org/Knowledge-Center/Nuclear-Fuel-Processes

This source puts it at 704 pounds of material for 1 assembly used in a water boiling reactor. And 1450 pounds of material for 1 assembly used in a water pressurized reactor.

To make the 157 fuel assemblies we need, we would need 110, 528 pounds of material to replicate for a water boiling reactor and 227, 650 pounds of material to replicate for a water pressurized reactor.

This would be every 4 years. Starting to think solar may just be better in the short term.
>>
>>1769484
>>1769491
Since OP has stated prior our current capacity to make fissile material out of non-descript shit as a few grams per month or week and this thing would provide a "large" power increase, I have figured out how much we'd need to produce every day over those 4 years consistently and without ever being able to use these non-fissile replicators for anything else.
>>
>>1769178
That's just standard player bitching really. Also the QM has stated that there's a /reason/ the NCR is so powerful. Maybe we should give SPI some resources so we can find out.

>>1769339
You're figuring that the Hoover Dam in Fallout only produces the same amount of power the it does in the real world presently. In Fallout it would've certainly undergone some retrofits to enhance its generation capabilities.
>>
Sorry for how I am doing this, 4chan thinks this is spam so I have to break it up.

>>1769511
A pound is 453.59237 grams, so for an assembly we need 319,328.768 grams. So for all 157, we need 50,134,616.576 grams. We'd need to make 34,315.274 grams per day which seems like a fuck ton. We're talking 34.315 kg per day. This is the estimate assuming we did a water boiling reactor. However I have no idea if this is referring to the pure nuclear material in the assembly's or the raw mass of it and the actual fissile shit is only a percentage you'd need to tell me. Even assuming it WAS only the percentage the estimate was what? 3 to 5 percent? Let's assume it was 4 percent in which case we still need 1,372.610 grams or 1.610 kilograms per day.
>>
>>1769518
Aye ignore that last number, it was left from me reducing the number of decimal values so 4chan would stop thinking it was spam.

That number should actually be 1.372 kilograms.
>>
>>1769518
>actual fissile shit is only a percentage you'd need to tell me.

Im looking, I'll link it if I find it.
>>
>>1769525
Main point is that even if it was only 4 percent of that mass, it'd still be more than a kilogram a day we need to replicate.

It isn't feasible. At least not for now in my opinion.
>>
>>1769518
>>1769520

Nuclear fuel rods are typically alloys, for practical purposes. 3-5% refers to the amount of Ur-235 in the rods (which is different from the amount of Ur-238 and the total amount of Ur) as that's what actually allows fission to happen.

This all being said, water reactors are pretty much the shittiest kind of nuclear reactor for all sorts of reasons. We should be aiming at least at Gen 3, but preferably Gen 4 reactor designs (gen 4 reactor designs are pretty much all breeder reactors, btw).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_IV_reactor

>>1769368
As a side note having the control rods above your reactor vessel is an excellent way to get a meltdown. Nowadays the rods are on the bottom and shoved UP, that way you can let them fall with out if your equipment isn't working and you need to deactivate the reaction.
>>
>>1769529
As has been previously stated by me, I have no problems with a good breeder reactor since it's something we can put somewhere and leave by itself to make power. Occasionally maybe taking the waste and reprocessing it for it's utility as high density feedstock.

The problem is that the only person pushing for nuclear shit as an immediate power solution wants a basic as fuck "hey let's just split an atom for power" nuclear reactor. Not some self-sustaining nuclear reaction but something we'd constantly need to refuel.

His example was a Japanese nuclear reactor which as far as I can tell it was this type of reactor.
>>
>>1769535
The Japanese reactor is actually 7 reactors, not 1, and they are boiling water reactors.
>>
>>1769535
On the upside, water reactors were more or less designed from the ground up to breed weapons grade plutonium. That's why pretty much all reactors in the US are barely commercially viable light water reactors.

Either way, I think that an actual research action into how to solve future power issues is probably our best bet.
>>
>>1769544
I know but the point is that he was basing his statistics and shit off of, unless he was incredibly stupid, one of those seven.

Main point is this, we don't feel that such a reactor is really feasible currently.

>>1769545
Agreed research into it is probably easiest but I can think of a few ways given time.

As to weapons grade shit, there is a upgrade to replicators that will let them produce mini-nukes and such but I suppose that was before we convinced OP that fusion was quite possible with replicators so it may be the case that we no longer need that upgrade.

Main point is, replicators can be used for nuclear production.

You look at your surroundings. You are at the bottom of what you presume is an elevator shaft. The walls appear to be of rusted alien metal, as does the floor you are on. White rusted alien metal.
[Per 9]
Hmmm. Since when does Alien metal rust? Well, you’ve only known the Mothership for 4 years so you cant know for sure, but rusted Alien metal is new for you. But it does seem odd. Shiny metals don’t tend to rust do they? Except at the Cloud where acid melts even stainless steel. But there’s no telltale red residue or that coppery sulfuric smell.
In any case, it appears the elevator was so rusted and decayed it broken and fell beneath you a ways down. If you take out your binoculars you can barely, barely see the faint dot of light which was where you came from.
[Repair 80]
You consider making a makeshift grapplehook using your missile launcher, a dud missile, and some of the rope you have
Feeling around you notice the elevator floor is tilted, as though something where caught underneath it. The floor itself is a square much like the shaft itself. There are these things that appear to be grooves for wheels and there is a smashed alien lever panel.
[Per 9]
These lever panels are odd too. The alien mothership didn’t have any of the sort, only push buttons. Its yet another architectural difference in this place to the mothership.
Looking around you also see there is another horizontal tunnel shaft, this one appears to be dug into the earth. There are more grooves on the ground. At the end of the tunnel which is not far, you see an alien machine, perhaps a giant robot, lying still at the end. You’re unable to tell what it’s for but its got arms with sharp pointy bits and claws. The alien lights swinging at the top of the tunnel are dark, as if power had been lost.

You investigate the alien machine. Like no other alien device you’ve seen before, but you’re not sure if its that your in pain or something is fogging your vision but its hard to make out what exactly it does.

So, in your particular brand of wisdom, you decide to try and turn it on. This time with much more caution than before.

You fiddle with levers and buttons and gnobs, and then quite unexpectedy it whirs to life roaring like a gas engine and the little lights on its panel come to life.

Then it starts throwing rocks at you with ferocious intensity, almost like bullets, causing you to fall back. That would have really hurt had you not been in power armor and ducking.

The machine continues pelting your positions with stones and rocks at tremendous speed, furthermore it begins cracking at the very stone walls with its arms and spinning drill bits.

>>
>>1770625
>The Pyramid of Truth points to the stars, and shall be the triumphant torch of Science and Knowledge that will crush the Abyss.
Okay so the Pyramid seems like something that the Hubbologists would be interested in. It sounds as well like it is a anti-eldritch weapon or bit of knowledge. Extremely useful but perhaps not in the short term.

>The Gestalt shall be the new lifeform, perfection incarnate, who will be a model to all living things.
Unity option or something of the sort. I'd advise against it.

>The Weatherman shall be the bane of unspeakable things, and the guides-man through the storm of darkness.
An upgrade for the Forecaster seemingly or something of the sort.

>The Progenitor shall be the triumph of will and strength, the proud juggernaut, self-righteous and supremely sanguine.
Us?

I'd say anything but the Gestalt and the Pyramids and Progenitor sound more interesting than the Weatherman. So either Pyramids or Progenitor, no idea which I'd pick however.

Inb4 this is the option that gets us into space
>>
>>1770625
I'll go with Progenitor.

>>1770640
I said since we already so good with Science and tech, we have to go with will and strength. That why we get the best of both world, and not focus on just one thing.

You can never be too good at science and tech.

All of this stuff is seemingly psyker related. What's the one thing we don't have? Psyker defense.

Was that 90s for us? To see if our guys give good advice?

I have a few ideas in regards to getting Psyker shit under control but it's incredibly risky and would require a fuck ton of brains and some FEV.

Yes

Maybe this is the better option for that.

I dunno, but it feels like this is the psyker tech option somehow. The others are probably hero based from the feel of it.

Also an augment we should probably develop for our troops:

Current real-world models induce a feeling of numbness and are capable of suppressing feels of pain amongst other things which would enable our troops to maintain greater combat effectiveness after being injured.

You unload your Pulse Gun upon the machine, it sparks and sputters, but like all machines, is silenced by the power of your weapon.

You then move forward to investigate it now that it has been properly immobilized. Maybe take it apart, figure out how it works, or exactly what it does.

As you step forward, you find your vision fades, and your mind feels foggier and foggier. Your body grows heavier but you cannot tell why, and you feel fatigued.

Darkness seems to swirl around you, and you grit your teeth and struggle, searching for a silent attacker. Your vision continues to fade as you ungrasp your helmet and try to rub your eyes.

Then, somewhere, a light is shining. You can't describe where it is coming from. It is niether in front or behind you, not above or below you, it simply is there.

A glowing triangle of dazzling light, both white like a mini-nuke blast yet of a thousand other colors, and in the center of this a great singular eye that seems to pierce the very dark itself. A brilliant display unlike any hologram or plasma blast you've seen, burning into your memory.

From this glowing sight, a voice is heard, again not by your ears for you cannot tell where it is coming from. It simply is there.

"Firebird. . heed my words, you are in peril."

"My time is limited. I cannot say much until, you must return to the Mount.

Suppressors surround you! They are trying to fool you. Do not let your eyes fool your mind!

I will expend as much of my strength as I can. Star Father grant me strength!"

Quite unexpectedly, from the top of the pyramid, as though it were a 3D structure, a glowing wheel seems to be rolling from the top of the Pyramid. Like a wagon wheel of light, with over a dozen spokes, the center so bright you imagine this is what it is like to be next to the sun.

It rolls down from the pyramid and seems to crush the very darkness surrounding you underneath itself. As it does, the very room seems to change.

The Alien metal morphs into rusted steel supports, the rock throwing machine into some sort of clearly human built digging device, even the alien elevator suddenly turns into a human mine elevator, its chains snapped and torn.

The Wheel rolls onward, leaving you behind. For now your vision remains clear, and your mind less foggy and sharper.

But at the corner of your eyes you see that the very shadows are roiling in rebellion, as if attempting to reclaim ground that they had lost. Bits and pieces of the wall rippled as if attempting to morph back.

You consider your options from here.
>The Digging Machine! You know how to operate it. Go get anywhere but here!
>Climb upward back up the elevator shaft while your mind is clear
>Your pip boy makes sense again. Send out your coordinates, and just wait for help to arrive

You send out your coordinates.

>Kreger
"That's all the way in the middle of the crater! How'd you get there? We'll see what we can do."

Meanwhile, you assemble your makeshift grapplehook missile launcher, and with expert skill hit your target, latching onto the place you fell from. As an added precaution you take out some of the small pickaxes you have, and with your working arms, climb.

And climb.

And climb.

Somehow despite going higher and higher, your target seems so far away. Worse still, you get a dreaded feeling from underneath you.

Your fear of heights is acting up.

Gritting you continue to climb, until you hear a voice.

"Courier get down from there! You're going to hurt yourself!"

You shake your head and try to resist looking, but even as you blink, your hands shrink, you feel so small, and the world feels so big. And you look down to see your mother so far away, worried sick, as you are climbing up the tree.

The gnarled roots below look like deathclaw arms, ready to grab and twist your ankles again, promising a world of pain.

You fell. You fell before. You're going to fall again. You were the biggest, meanest, strongest kid in town and the one thing you couldn't do was climb a tree like your friends could and now you're going to prove your one weakness.

Maybe we should have upgraded Sam. If courier dies, then we can play as her.

At least it is confirmed that the Hubs are not completely crazy cultists
>>
>>1772066
Instead of going Emperor with Courier? No go.
>>
>>1772066
Eh, I don't want to rely on Sam and I feel that preparing for the Courier's death overly so is a bad idea. Since the loss of him would screw us over in so many ways no matter if we even did educate her in our skills. Since so much of our world view and such is based off of our experiences.

As to the Hubbologists, it was never a question of them not being crazy cultists. Their power / legitimacy was known in game based off of them having a Zetan weapon in FO 4 and such. However the implication of this is that their god and technology could function as a complete neural block against psionic attacks amongst other things.

A good investment for certain but probably not worth immediate research compared to more traditional and conventional technological needs and capabilities. New augments, improved robotics and other such things.
>>
>>1770971
>>1771165
>>1771233
Hubologists confirmed to have a useful, surprisingly benevolent religion. They also saved our ass from being stuck in the illusion for too long. Let's let them spread their religion after this so long as they don't pull any Religion of Evil bullshit or force it on others.
Could we spread both Hubology and the Nailed God’s religion?
>>1771233
>I will expend as much of my strength as I can. Star Father grant me strength!"
So the Hubologist's head or one of their priests is confirmed to be a psychic or psyker.

>>1772066
>>1772112
Going the Hubology route seems to have more civ-related bonuses than the rest which are more companion bonuses.
>>
>>1772114
>Could we spread both Hubology and the Nailed God’s religion?
I hope so.
>>
Either way. We should call for a strategy meeting where we call the Hubs, forecaster, Unity and maybe Sam to find a way to deter their psychic attacks. We seem to be completely defenseless against them
>>
>>1772134
Can we not just wear the forecasters old psychic nullifyer head band thingy? Maybe make more and incorporate them into standard issue helmets?
>>
>>1772154
Maybe. That's why I think we should call for a meeting. Maybe we'll develop an implant. There's lots of empty space in our head
>>
>>1772115
Why dont we figure out the system behind the effects of religion and the psychic phenomena and design machines to reproduce those effects instead of having the loyalty of the people divided between christianity, hubology and the state? This would allow us to use the populace to its fullest without going sundayschool and superstition. Essentially map it out and handle it as a field of study instead of sacred ritual to achieve the desired effects.
>>
>>1772247
Why do you think somebody can't have loyalty to the state and something else?
>>
>>1772154
Might be possible. Could attempt to create a augment that not only prevents psi attacks but also detects their presence. Could also attempt to reverse the effect of the nullifyer and create a amplification system. Making any psionic troops or people more powerful.

Should be added into Hazard armour as we revise for additional combat effectiveness and other such features. Would advise we consider the possibility of construction of a proper armour research and production facility to reduce difficulty of development, distribution as currently all suits must be replicated. Alternatively we could create a true non-fissile replicator based factory capable of producing anything in a central database which would be the first step to a more advanced industrial base.

Additional features to be added to our infantry's suit where appropriate and possible:

1) A waste reclamation system to recover water for consumption by the wearer.

2) A automatic medical system (injectors, health sensors, etc) to provide drugs as needed such as Med-X, stimpacks and so on.

3) Stealth field generator / jet-pack?

4) The NCR's recoil compensating shoulder system.

5) Perhaps some sort of collapsing ballistic shield?

6) Pip-boy.
>>
>>1772323
Well auto-med systems would just be a copy of what's in the stealth suit mk 2

I would say go jetpack for general purpose armour.

We're using energy weapons, so recoil isnt really a problem for the troops

We can probably research alien shield tech so we have full body shields like in halo

Yes to pip boys
