You rush up to Sam and apply one of your medkits. Sam seems to breathe easier.

"Thanks. I was afraid I might be done for..." With the breach in the suit, Sam's unaltered voice can be heard through the altered one. It's distinctly female.

"We need to get out of this place." You tell the FEATHER soldiers.

A hardsuit protests, "B-but the data and equipment-"

"Mean nothing to you if you are dead. FEATHER needs it, right? Then you need to live to get it out." You explain, cutting them off.

"They're right, let's get out of here." Sam gets up slowly, but soon she and the other soldiers are beside you as you reach the lift. With Vee's code, it once more ascends. The labs are much easier to go through up here, but are also pretty barren.

You move with the FEATHER soldiers to the entrance.

Sam points towards the encampment, "Our field base is over there. We'd like to at least thank you for getting us through there alive..."

Vee blinks and whispers, "You could probably trade all those weapons from the lab in to FEATHER for their superior ones there. They typically have the best gear in the wastes."

Clark looks off towards the city, "We saved Sam back there... And FEATHER controls the city. We might be able to get a lot more assistance if we make ties now."

A group of prefabricated structures lie within a deployed wall. Several vehicles sit idle, military in appearance.

You can spot an armory, a command tent, and afield hospital. To one side you can see a row of aircraft pads. Soldiers man each region. The command tent cannot be accessed.

The armory is a robust building. The structure inside reinforced. The walls are filled wit racks of guns and crates of ammunition. A quartermaster regards you as you enter.

The field hospital is mostly empty, save for a doctor and Sam. There is a sign stating that medkits are wanted, but given the lack of reward it's probably for reputation with FEATHER.

Sam regards you as you enter, "Hello again! The rest of the team is just delivering their reports. Given the casualties, the squad is probably going to return to FEATHER."

She pauses, "Well, you kind of saved my life, and, well, I was thinking I might be able to help you around here. I might have been in trouble down in the lab, but..." She looks to the side, "I was kind of out of medical supplies from the upper levels... If you run into any Fae though, a Hazard soldier is a must-have!" It appears Sam is a medic. Do you accept her offer?

You leave the FEATHER encampment and drive to the main city. The outskirts consist of homes made of scavenged material, but the center looks like proper buildings. As you roll in, people in makeshift clothing stare at your FEATHER transport. Some resigned, some looking jealous. You reach what appears to be a place to hire people.

It's on the edge of a wall keeping the scrap town from extending into FEATHER's zone. Sam explains that a lot of them work for FEATHER to get inside, since not everyone wants to join up with them.

You exit the vehicle. Almost immedieately the people looking at it seem to show a hint of recognition. With your infiltration gear as a hunter, you look the part of a scavenger yourself, albeit a skilled one. Almeda, Vee, and Sam accompany you.

You walk up to the building. A gruff-looking man regards you, "Ah, some scavengers and a soldier. I take it you're looking to hire?"

"We're interested in mercenaries, yes." You respond.

"Well, I gotta list of em. Since you're with the soldier there, I guess I gotta give you the FEATHER listing..."

He provides a board for you with listings on it.
You can choose one to meet with at a time.

You are shown inside the building. It's surprisingly well-made. There are a few rooms you pass by before you enter what appears to be a VIP area.

The man bangs on one of the doors, "RHEA, You up?! Got clients for you!"

A woman's voice snaps back, "Send them in Carl! Goddamnit I told you I was awake ten hours ago!"

The door is opened and you are treated to a woman in a tanktop. She has brown hair and appears to be wearing goggles. She grins as she regards you, leaning back against a chainsaw and a machete.

"Well then, looks like I got the big spenders here. Pardon my language earlier. What can I do for you today?" She folds her gloved hands over as she smiles at you, seemingly all manners now.

"We need to get through faerie forest. Read that it's one of your skills." You start.

"Hell yeah it is. You need those buggers dead and their trees done, I'm the best one for the job. A lil bit of fire and a lil bit of chainsaw and we'll be through quicker than you can think about it."

"And... you just take food and somewhere to sleep?" Almeda asks, looking over the list.

"Buddy, if you can get me out of this hellhole, I will do anything you ask. I just need food. If I can get somewhere nice, maybe I'll settle down, but I'll jump to your side if you come calling until I die." Looks like loyalty isn't an issue here, "What do you say. pal? Care to hire me?"

With another close-combat specialist, you should have a good front line in any combat situation. Ideal for Bunker Gemini later... Though honestly you could use a LOT more firepower.

Carl just glares at her as she leaves sight, "So, you fellows looking for anyone else?"

Almeda looks over the list, "This could be the last time in a while we visit a town where we can increase our numbers, and space isn't an issue."

Sam shrugs, "These are the list of trusted mercs. Anyone here is good at what they do. What do we do?"

"Oh yeah, they're in... But I gotta warn you, they're... different." Carl leads you to a door at the end of the VIP area. HE opens it, and you are treated to glowing bottles hanging from the ceiling. The room seems empty as Carl shuts it behind you.

"Hello, I am Romeo, although... that's not my real name." Something flutters before you, a 3-ft girl with an aura of saturated color, and wings. A faerie. She's clothed in black with purple ribbons and leggings.. and eyes. Her hair and skirt are a silvery white. She stands in an ordered pose, not even giving off a speck of dust.

You draw your weapons.

"Oh my. Had a bad run-in with the fae? I can imagine! Relax, relax. I am a mercenary. My tribe was wiped out. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Vivianne, a handmaiden for the queen. I will be your loyal servant. My specialty is dealing with any obstacle. My abilities are those of the fae, and, as an obsolete tribe, I am an enemy of other fae." She bows, "The fee for my services are..." She tilts her head and sniffs the air, "Oho. My fee will be simple. I am looking for the heir, or someone to rescue my queen." She crosses her arms, "You two have met the heir before... and the destroyer... and the incinerator. Oh my! You are the most dangerous humans I've ever met!" She giggles.

"I'm a greater faerie. Just below the heir and the queen. Your enemies are my enemies. Let's be friends. And... not in the transformy way that other, stupid fae might try."

Sam raises a hand, "How did a fairy get onto the whitelist?"

"By doing missions for FEATHER, of course. I have a file. Loooots of anti-fae jobs." Vivianne give you a cute smile.

"Yeah! that guy!" Vivianne points to the cloaked android, "She's smart. I like her."

"Right, that just leaves the heir. The heir has the queen's mark. I think it's a kidnapped human turned fae? And she ate the other fae and escaped. She can shapeshift. Oh!" Vivianne points to her ribbon, "My tribe has this color somewhere! If you know someone with this color, that might be them!"

With everyone worth meeting (in your opinion) done with, you make your way out to the vehicle. Rhea and Vivianne look at each other.

"For a second there I was about to grab the chainsaw, but it's jut you." Rhea remarks.

"Oh, miss incinerator. Do be careful not to burn me." Vivianne giggles.

You drive up to the reinforced gates of the inner city. The gates open and you drive in.

You are treated to a rather empty city, reminiscent of the ones back home in Alainn. Albeit, this one has far more advertising and entertainment venues. It's all so unfamiliar to you. This seems to be mostly civic and administration.You see a glowing sign in the middle of an empty plaza advertising an untouched region. Images of Inis Duchy are displayed briefly in a pattern.

The glow of lights brighten the twilight, but the empty streets and bright lights feel eerie. Considering how crowded it was outside, there should be plenty of space for people in here.
