"What is it with Xyz card?"

>We'd like to know the anwser to that question ourselves, actually. It's a new summoning method that was discovered around a week ago, similarly to how Synchro summoning was a couple years earlier. Xyz cards have been poppingg up all around the world since then, with owners saying stories ranging from "I found it on my desk when I woke up" to "it fell from the sky". They are all Extra Deck monsters, just like Fusions and Synchros, although they're far more similar to the latter, as they also use face-up monsters on the field for summoning.
>However, while Synchros are powerful monsters that anchor themselves to our reality by using the power of the synchronized souls of two or more monsters with appropriate levels, Xyz have a much more violent summoning condition. They have ranks instead of levels, which correspond to the levels of the monsters used for the summoning. To summon an Xyz monster, a player must offer two or more monsters of a level corresponding to the Xyz monster's rank. Upon such an invitation, an Xyz monster opens a portal and sucks the offered sacrifices into it. From what we can gather, the Xyz monsters consume the bodies and energy of the offered monsters and use them as fuel to move in our reality. Moreover, they preserve the souls of the consumed monsters as so-called "Xyz materials" for the duration of the duel in the shape of small orbs that float around them. They can consume these souls for bursts of energy they use to activate or maintain their effects.

That's a lot of info to take in, but you need to know more.

"How can cards affect people like that?"

>Well, that was mostly caused due to our dueling system being unprepared to cope with the new monsters. As you know, a couple years ago we've decided to tap into the whole "otherworldly spirits" thing with our hologram system, as a way of both increasing the quality of the expierience as well as cutting the cost of rendering each new monster's hologram. What people don't know is that we've also installed limiters that contol the extent to which the invoked spirits can manifest. This was devised by my brother after meeting many duelists that could somehow make their monsters manifest to the extent in which they can easily hurt people. The system is not perfect, as there still are cases of the so called "duel spirits", AKA spirits whose souls have fully moved into their cards, but besides that only the highest level monsters are powerful enough to conjure up anything more then a breeze with their attack.
>Now, the system did not initially work on the Xyz monsters, seemingly due to their "vampiric" nature. Instead of exerting energy with their attacks, they seem to absorb life energy from their targets, which in case of humans can lead into this.

Sphinxes are too difficult to get on the board, considering we don't have an reliable way for summoning them. Instead, we could swap them out for:

They're Beasts, so they should work well enough in a Naturia deck. In addition to having a pretty solid effect, Moja is a level 1 Earth beast too, which should make synchro summoning easier. Beast Striker is a solid beatstick that searches for Moja as well, so that's a plus.

However, if someone else sees a better replacement for those cards, we can use those instead.

I'm not too happy about what our only deck looks like right now. It's oversaturated with random cards that do nothing for our game plans. We're going into the intermediate tourney, but our deck still looks like it belongs in the begginers with our lack of consistency and deck thining. A lot of quests have waifus. Thats just the nature of things. As long as waifus do not become full focus and delay or detract from plot, lore, or progression, they are fine.

I've been thinking about new combos.

Let's say we have rescue cat and king of the beasts.

Rescue cat into two uniflora.
Uniflora into rescue cat.
Rescue cat into valerifawn and mine mole.
Valerifawn effect, discard king of the beasts to summon uniflora.
Tune valerifawn and mine mole for naturia beast.
Draw a card with mine mole.
Uniflora for rescue cat.
Rescue cat for mine mole and key mouse.
Uniflora for rescue cat.
Rescue cat for sea koala and moja.
Activate sea koala effect.
Tune key mouse, sea koala, and mine mole for barkion.
Draw a card with mine mole.
Activate king's effect in the grave.

We now have king of the beasts, naturia beast, and barkion on the field, and have drawn two cards with mine moles to replace the ones we started with.

The hulking fiend takes a swing at you, and you can't help but fall over. You guess thiss is what Mokuba meant by the strongest monsters still being able to affect the material world.
You lost. When the dust starts to clear, you see Wisteria standing over you, but you can't yet see her face.

I was about to say that it's possible unless she pops both facedowns now we can we can be assured that she won't necessarily Monarch next turn without tributing Caius, but with the Mega Monarchs..well, that's a tad bit more difficult to say.
I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth just tanking a hit for the set up.
The only life point that matters is the last one after all.

I also don't like fruits of kozakis studies or curse of Anubis. The first is too slow, and the second hits our own guys too. I would take those and probably monster reincarnation out and put the mini gas back in, plus swap out the familiars for the egotistical apes.

That being said, when a deck is being created or edited, I personally think that adding in your advice would help make Deck editing less daunting in general. Otherwise Anons in thread will leave that to the expert, and while that would work, it'll also slow down the pacing considerably.

Somebody tell me I'm not the only one marveling at the possibilities with this guy, right?

After that battle with Wisteria, I think we now know enough to know that stalling her with monsters is nigh impossible. She'll just summon Caius or some other monarch to destroy it. I will agree on anons thoughts on thinning the deck to include some useful spell and trap cards.

Additionally, I wouldn't be opposed to teching in Blast Held by a Tribute to counter her Monarch tribute deck. Once we get it, that is.

Myself, I would like to see our familiars replaced with ego apes, and our assault dogs swapped with two giant rats and a staple spell or trap, such as Vanity's emptiness, or sakuretsu armor. Followed by more testing.

This is the direction i would go with the deck. The only reasons to stay pure beast is for Uniflora and rivalry of the warlords. I dont think that tradeoff is worth it considering how much easier the special summon non-beast monsters make getting our synchro plays. Rivalry of the warlords is still usable, we will just need to be careful when activating it. This list gets better the more varied synchros we have, especially generic ones.

I think if you want to use cards like zaborg or effect veiler, you should put them in the fun police deck.

My main concern with uniflora is that it doesnt seem so great without rescue cat. The loops are super strong and probably the best plays we can put out with our cardpool under ideal circumstances, but with only one rescue cat and no way to safely search it i wouldnt hamstring the deck to pull it off. When we had a 20 card deck it was fine since we'd see cat more often but with 40 it doesnt seem consistent enough to bank on.

Real talk though effect veiler is insanely good for the level of decks we are going to play against and id argue it should go into anything we build.

A quick google shows that the Moja package was good enough to support a deck type dedicated to it. And as long as you limit it to a few cards, there shouldn't be any problems with including a couple of utility cards like D.D. Assailant and Effect Veiler.

In my personal opinion we cant really make a good fun police deck yet. We only have a couple stun cards and not nearly enough supporting traps/spells.

The traps and spells are actually super important due to the kinds of decks i expect we're going to be playing against. The archtypes i expect we'll see in the intermediate tier will probably have moderate sized monsters to just punch through the weak ones that anti meta decks like fun police run on, so we need the support cards to keep them alive before we'll see any success. Due to the deck size limit doubling to 40 we are now further away from the critical mass of protective/disruptive cards that we'd need.

IMO we need to spend some serious DP on advanced spells and advanced traps. Good support cards can help ALL our decks, and an anti-meta deck like fun police really needs them to function.

I actually heavily considered the moja package when making the deck above, but came to the decision that we didn't have enough ways to consistently search out or dump King of the Beasts into our graveyard. With a couple of self mill effects like Ryko or fooolish burial and I think we can make the deck work.
