Miellewds-guy here.

Our cute empress greets the men withy a smile, and speaks with the captain, explaining what she wants from the ship and crew.

A few minutes later, her majesty's 'Fair Western Moon' raises its anchor and heads out into the open sea before taking to the air.

Its a procedure designed to keep the ship from crashing with incoming ships in the busy Mantequira or Eopolis harbors, and even though there's no merchant rockitships in Alquia yet, protocol is maintained.

After taking a wide circle around the city, the ship turns north east and heads towards the construction site/military base.

Miel looks with interest through the cabin's window, next to Mako. For a honeybee, this is quite higher than they usually fly.

"Eldric, how was that?" - asks Mako with a expectant look as she turns to us, away from the round window in her cabin.
"You were great."
"Ehehehe... I got praised." - she says happily as she holds her face with both hands.

Yup, she's so cute. We give her a little kiss while huggin her.

"It should be a couple of hours before we arrive...."

>So lets have some fun (light naughty)

"Alright." - Mako nods nods. She's probably hoping to see her sister.
"Oh, I haven't seen that place yet." - Miel seems interested for simpler reasons.
"Alright, then, let's go."

We explain things to the sailor guarding our cabin's door, and use the peach tree in the ship's rear deck to [Treestride] to Mantequira.

Well, adding a tree to each imperial rockitship was a simple but useful feature. And the peach tree is the imperial family's tree, so the choice was obvious.

Once we emerge from the imperial family's peach tree, Mako immediately leaves us to go greet her sister.

Hmm... we better remember we only have a couple of hours today.

"Ah, this garden..." - Miel is naturally interested in the different plants and flowers around her in the garden.

Oh, thanks for reminding me. I guess she can visit Sunray then, instead.

***

We leave Miel to her visit, while we go check things at the office with Yin.

For a change, she's not behind the desk this time, or in the room at all. There's a half eaten pastry on the table next to a glass of juice, however, so it looks like she will be back at any time, however.

Let's take a look at what she's working on for now...

It looks like the new laboratory has just finished building, so the sages are moving in and beginning research now. For the time being, their think tank wants to know what they should prioritize the most.

>Trade theory
>Military tech
>Infraestructure (new buildings, supply routes)

>But...we were going to stay with Miel?
?

But someone reminded me about Sunray, so instead of leaving her to see the local plantlife, it made more sense to let her visit her daughter... oooh i missed the 'other' bit. Sorry, don't forget im pretty much blind so I usually miss little things, specially on the edges.

Looking at their proposed projects, we decide to give the go to a building to host conventions, discussions and open forums with other nations' diplomats. A primitive united nations, if you wish.

Yup. Even though we already are allied with most major powers around the central ocean, we don't yet have an official place for representatives to meet.

Well, the opening of this Grand building in about two years should also serve to mark the official entry of the Heavenly Empire into the protectorare alliance.

Hmm... I wonder if we should build a district just for embassies around it, assign territories for each country to build their own embassies, or directly assign them an adress?

>If we assign them buildings, it will cause them to argue about which one was most favored based on location and size. Lets just leave it up to them to purchase land and build

We write down the instructions while Yin comes back, and finds us at work.

"Ah! I am sorry, lord. I was looking for office supplies.."
"That much is clear." - we reply as we see her carryinmg a box with new clear scrolls and some ink flasks on top.

"Isn't there staff for carrying supplies around?"
"Our department only has I."

Right, we are a very small office, I guess.

After a while, we say our farewells and head out looking for Miel.

It takes us a bit of work to find her, as it turns out she had shrunk down so she could enter into Sunray's hive for her visit, but as word reaches her that we are looking for her, she comes out and meets us.

"Master, you are ready to go back?"
"Almost. How was your visit?"
"Fine, thank you." - she smiles happily and enlarges herself back to human size.

Well, she's still on the petite side, though. I guess that's to be expected? I do wonder if she could grow even bigger, though.

"Let's go look for Mako." - we say as we take her hand
"Yes..." - she looks at our hand and grabs it softly.

We squeeze her hand with ours as we pull her along. She's rather cool to the touch, somehow.

"Ah, your hand..." - she mutters softly, but we just walk along with her.

The guards direct us towards the inner palace... well, I guess the girls are in Ren's room.

"How come you don't make any noise when you walk...?" - we suddenly notice that Miel's steps don't cause the singing floor to creak (1)
"Ah... I'm not really supporting my weight on the floor..."

Indeed, she seesm to be bouncing on the tips of her toes, from one foot to the other. No wonder her walking looked like a dance step...

"Is it a problem if you properly step on the floor?"
"I am not really used to walking. I'm almist always flying for long distances..."

I guess a hallway would count as a long distance for a flying creature...

>Properly step on the floor. Won't you burn a lot of energy if you are always flying?
>Alright then. (let her keep going as she's been doing)

1 - Singing floor is a type of palace floor that is designed to be very noisy when stepped on, to make assassinations that much harder.

"Eep!"
"I'll remember not to make you walk too far, then."

We pick her up in a princess carry. As you'd expect, she's pretty light... isn't she too light?

"You are eating properly, right?"
"I-i am! So let me down!"
"That has nothing to do, though?"
"M-master, please are l-looking!"
"Is okay."
"..."

We reach the inner palace, and find that one of the shadows is standing right behind the first door. She lets us through with a couple of odd looks as she looks at Miel and us, then we could swear we heard her sigh.

"Nooo!" - comes out a cutesy cry from the empress' room

Ah, I bet you are thinking this is one of those times where the MC thinks the heroine is in danget, so he kicks in the door to find her in a compromising state of undress or something like that by mistake, right?

Not a chance! Because I can see the shadow on the door hasn't moved, so I know they're probably just playing in some way.

That's why, I am kicking in the door and faking to have misunderstood the situation, so I can see them in some interesting state of undress. I am genius.

"Eh?" x2

Aha! As expected, they were playing on the bed while dressed in the innermost layer of their clothes.

*nods nods* This is the point where we go 'oh, so you are alright, I thought you were in danger...' right?

"Oh, so you ar-"
"Who's believe such a thing!"

We got hit in the face with a large cuddly pillow-

Uuuh... I couldn't sell it, my flawless excuse.

Well, we can't really dodge while holding Miel, though.

"Oh, who's that?" - the dark haired beauty that threw the pillow at us asks when she pays some attention to Miel
"This is Miel, she too will be my wife."
"Ooooh."

Well, Mako and Ren are wearing the equivalent of a night gown right now, so it is quite the nice sight. Yup, anyone would say it is a nice sight, with both beauties on top of the fluffy bed as they play with each other surrounded by dolls.

The dolls have quite well-made dresses...

"Ah, that looks fun." - oh, we got praised by our cute empress

Yup, isn't this the most important bed in the world? Is full of cute empresses, you know?

Maybe someday... ah, no, I somehow don't think 3P would fly here... such a shame.

"Did you girls have fun? We need to go now."
"Eeeh... such a short visit."
"Yes, we had fun."

"Well then, I have to go now." - Mako?
"Yes, please take care." - Ren?

"...you can't fool me, you know?"

"That's because, Mako would definitively move to get dressed first."

"'kay"

Eh, is Ren still trying to prank us?

"I want to go as well..."
"No, no, if I took you along, general Li would cry, you know? Don't you have a lot of work left for the day? You already made a break to play, didn't you?"
"Eh... so stingy, duke."

Well, even though she complains like so, she properly understands. Yup, she's a good girl, I think.

Once the twins say goodbye to each other, we finally leave through the peach tree in the garden.

"Can you let me down now?" - asks Miel
"Nope." - we sneak a kiss on her
"E-eeeeh" - she blushes a little

Seriously, she barely weights anything at all.

Well, it looks like we came back at just the right time, since we can see the base appear as a dark smudge on the horizont.

"Alright, let's head over to the command deck for the approach."
"Yes."

We do actually let Miel down to the floor now, though we capture her small hand with our own. Ah, lets grab Mako's too.
This truly is to hold a flower on each hand.

After greeting the captain and officers, we watch as the ship approaches the base. There's some activity on the ground, but our signals officer seems to communicate properly with the base personnel, and so no interception ships are sent after us.

Rather, it looks like the staff is busy lining up next to the main building of the base... wait, is that a tent? That's one huge tent.

Don't tell me, that's the super dreadnought, isn't it?

As we descend, we find the base staff has lined up in rows to greet the empress' arrival. As you'd expect, the former vizir kept this base as an absolute secret, to the point that not even the traitorous minister (or Sykia for that matter) knew about it.

The guards look quite impressive, and looking at them through our [Ring of Knowledge] as we approach, tells us that they are in the high hundreds, level-wise, and three of them are also scions, which speaks of how elite the staff watching this base happens to be.

We were sure that any scion would easily break off from slavery and reach for freedom, but from the documents we read about the base and its staff, these are this world's equivalent to Earth's jannissary(*), which is to say, they are so highly thought of, trusted, and important within the empire's structure, as to be defacto nobles that earned their position with hard work after a lifetime of struggle.

Such men do not simply 'run'.

Indeed, all of them are, respectively, the base commander, the general of the eastern legion, and captain.

...I guess the captain is waiting for the 'go' order from the capital in order to have the super dreadnought take off, which means this the man that was chosen to run the ship once it is working and in the sky.

Base Commander Ayda (meaning "Visitor") is the only female of the group... she's female, right? A huge mass of muscles that almost looks like grandpa in a robe. What a horrible mental image... anyway, she's a jaguar tribe beastkin... I think.

Eastern General, Rasim (meaning "Planner" and "Architect"), who is in charge of the adjacent batallions providing extra security to the build site. He's a elderly human, though he's standing ramrod straight in his uniform despite his age.

Captain Abd Al-Azir (meaning "servant of the powerful"). Former navy commander, the vizir picked him to be the man in charge once the dreadnought takes off.

As Mako emerged from the ship and sets foot on the ramp, the base staff takes a knee on the spot, remaining so until she commands them to stand.

"I am grateful for your loyal work. Please stand." - she says as she greets them.

Ah, she tensed and let out a cute little 'ah!' when the entire base stood up at once. Well, she's the cute and gentle type, so it can't be helped.

"Your majesty, it is an honor." - Commander Ayda is the first to speak.

Well, she's the base commander, so that's to be expected.

"I have come to see the work, and congratulate the workers."
"Yes! Your highness! It is a huge honor!"

Mako can't help but flinch again when the base erupts in cheers.

The young empress sends the staff back to their duties, and begins an inspection of the site.

"This is an amazingly large base, is it not? How can you keep it a secret so close to the capital?" - she asks
"It may be physically close, my lady." - replies the base commander - "But the land has been filled with strong magical aberrations around this base."
"On purpose?"
"Yes. We have a generator that keeps them moving. Once the building of the great ship is done with, we can turn it off and relocate it to the ship itself. The monsters should work as a free, self-refenerating infantry for the ship."
"Is that so? Eldric, can we use that to fight the [ERROR]s?" - she asks us with a hopeful look
"Perhaps. We would need to study that generator, and..." - we are replying, when captain Al-Azir interrupts us
"I am sorry, who may you be, sir?"
"Ah, this is Duke Eldric Lightbringer. He will be my... our royal consort. At the moment, he is our new minister of the Right."
"Is that so... It is an honor, sire."

The general seems worried, but says nothing.

I was thinking, that if the succubus style of fighting is to exhaust their enemy through sex, then maybe they tend towards being submissive during sex while driving their opponent to be more aggressive trough pheromones? That way they conserve their energy while making their opponent use up more.

So if we have that sparring match/sex with the Matron, she'll likely try to use Eldric's youth and eagerness against him by opening herself up to whatever he wants to do to her body and encouraging him (by pheromones, how she offers up her body, and what she says) to aggressively take her and get tired quicker. It'll be good practice for Eldric to build up his stamina.

"Yes! Please do so."

Mako does a positive gesture with her right hand. It looks a little like a fist pump... its cute, but maybe we should get her a fan like Ren has...?

Either way, we ask the command staff to take us to a private room where we can explain sensitive matters to them, and once we do so, they grow interested in evidence as well as a draft our rough idea of our plans to combat said threat.

Well, I guess that's to be expected. Should we:

Ah, scientist Lyann looks so lovely with her white robe and glasses.

We explain about the weapons and shields, and how we want to use the super dreadnought as a movile fortress against them.

The base commander and the captain seem to agree with it, as it is the empress will, but the eastern general opposses the idea, saying that

"I'd prefer if they were convinced, rather than just doing so because they're told to."
"but... they're in the army... fine, do as you want."

The redhead sighs softly and kisses us before going back to work.

We take the group back to Alquia and show the commanders to the rockitships and the shield and weapons on board, proving to them that the technology is already working and tested.

"Should we try and shield the entire sreadnought, then? Its sheer size would mean a immense cost..." - the captain begins talking about upgrades with his peers
"If they can't fly, shouldn't we focus on the hull under the ship first?"

The commanders snap out of their conversation, and readily escort us along our inspection tour.

First, we greet the workers. They're slaves. They're all slaves.

It is the base commander who replies

"As you know, rules and commands can be given to slaves, which they cannot disobey. This makes keeping secrets much simpler, compared to free workers."
"I see! So, does that means thet are volunteers?" - asks Miel
"No, and yes. Some have rented themselves to the state, and some (the ones doing the most dangerous jobs) are former criminals."
"...then, when the work is complete?" - Mako looks at the general
"The regular workers will be freed, while criminal slaves will be sent to other worksites, with instructions not to talk about their work here."

"Once the ship is airborne, there's no further need to keep its existence a secret." - ventures the eastern general

I wonder if there's a need for it now that we're all in the same side, though....

|Anyway, I guess using slave commands to guarantee the silence of your workers is a lot better than the ancient Earth version of just killing them once their work was complete, right?

"You should encourage and congratulate them." - Miel adresses Mako while holding her hands on her lap
"I will. Thank you."

As the young empress walks around the construction site, the overseers gather the workers so they can interact with her. Of course, this excludes the criminals, however.

The slaves are organized into small work groups so the empress can greet them in turns. It is somewhat interesting to see large and dangerous-looking toughened criminals blush and squirm as they get a chance to meet the divine divine empress that secures the favor of heaven for their culture.

Well... in this world, they're right, though. Uh, go figure.

The point is to exhaust your opponent, right? Then using pheromones to make them want to have sex, then offering them sex, would tire them out, right?

Anyway, the East General seems to not like Eldric; is this because Eldric is obviously a man of the Northern Coalition?

Really? I was trying to play him as a serious old soldier with a huge patriotic streak. He doesnt likes the idea of taking this ship that costed so much to the people and handling it casually, but that's it, really.

I was thinking of that general in Mars Attack, to be honest. You know, the one that gets stepped on.

What's the point if it's not put to use?
Just parade it around, make it into a Hotel Yamato?
>>
>>1945118
You realize that general was a caricature and was supposed to be an object of ridicule and mockery, right?
>>
>>1948084
yes, but i didnt say I copied him completely, just that I liked him. I liked the idea of an old general that constantly went against the opinion of the president but that nonetheless was completely loyal because he was a firm believer in his role as defender of the state and democracy.

>What's the point if it's not put to use?
It hasnt yet taken off and we're already talking about remodelling it. Shouldnt it at least have a maiden voyage, so any problems come to light and get fixed before removing and adding parts to it? If any parts are going to malfunction, wouldnt it be better if they do so when they're working with all the original parts, before thinking of altering the structure and circuitry of the ship? Something like that, anyway.

>>Well, the judges already gave them a finite slavery time to serve based on their crime...

"Hm. I don't like slavery in general, but I think that having criminals work our their debt to society instead of rotting away in a small and overpopulated cell is definitively a better option." - we pause - "They already had a trial and a judge assigned them a time of service according to their crime. Without messing with the power of the legal system, what we could do is regularly set aside a small amount of money for them that they can collect once their sentence is complete."
"Yes! Let us do that!" - Mako lifts both hands for a moment, and shakes her small fists in front of her in approval. Ah, various parts of her did bounce... ah, she's grown up so healthy.

Anyway, let's try and have an interview with the minister of finances and transmit to him the empress' will, later.

We continue the inspection of the site, and finally enter the ship itself. It has some large hallways for the movement of machinery and cannons, but most are about what you'd expect on a regular ship.

Hmm... I wonder if I should continue talking about the fleet from Eopolis, Heaven Empire and Alquia as such, or instead begin calling them the Northern, Western and Eastern fleets?

We are aiming to join all those countries into a single coalition within our lifetime, after all. Yes, let's do that.

Heavenly Empire Fleet ---> Western Fleet
Eopolis Fleet --> Northern Fleet
Alquian Fleet --> Eastern Fleet

It is hard to truly explain the size of the super dreadnought with words like "huge" or "colossal." It may be simpler to explain that its hangar (which uses quite a bit of space near the rear deck) is large enough for the current Western Fleet to dock inside it.

Of course, not lenghtwise. It is taking advantage of the fact the ships float, and so the dock are not only lined up horizontally, but also vertically. It is still quite impressive, though. They have even designed small rockit platforms just so technitians and engineers can move between the ships, carry equipment, and perform maintenance of upgrades.

It surprises us to see several hundred small... I guess gunboats would be the right term? These look like the standard production model based on the prototype we captured in that alquian research facility hidden in the opal mountains.

The design is a lot more blocky, and they look a lot less like boats, and a lot more like elongated armored boxes, each with two forward facing guns and a very thin frontal profile. Their armor is slanted at almost 30° (which increases the overall thickness of the armor and helps deflect projectiles), but the guns aren't solid slug ones, but small mana cannons.

"Yes, do you have any questions, sire?" - asks the captain as he notices our interest
"Yes, what are you using to power up the guns on the small ships?"
"They use an ammunition system based on mana crystals. A certain dungeon produces them, and we have been collecting them in great quantities for quite a while now."

I see, so they're using a loot item as ammo. Well, considering that a dungeon will respawn the monsters infinitely, I guess it's a cheap way to do it? But not every monster will drop the same item each time you kill it, so it may not be very efficient...

At that moment, the entire 'line' of light ships moves a little to the right with a single loud 'clang!', moving further out from a tunnel leading into the guts of the super dreadnought.

"You are still stocking these small ships?"
"We are building them in the engineering area of the ship. We can build small craft, or any parts the larger ships happen to need."
"It really is a mobile base, uh?"
"Would you like to see the engineering area? I',m afraid is a very noisy and busy area, so it would be somewhat harsh on the empress..."

Uhm. I can imagine how a live, working factory would be quite noisy without protective gear such as headphones and the like. Well, it's just a factory and is not like we can do much about it even if we do... ah, but Sykia would be really interested on it, right?

Speaking of the Superdreadnought, the slow speed is not acceptable for the Hive Fleets. We will either need a more powerful engine or accept a dreadnought-sized ship for the Hive Fleets.

why not? Is not like they are chasing after anything faster than the spring/flower bloom across the globe.

We call out Sykia from our [Menagerie] so she can take a look at the mana-powered guns with us.

No wonder we didn't see the famous guns grandpa said kept the Protectorate army from approaching the Alquian capital (and took down one of the rockitships when they tried), they had moved them here.

As we walk towards the prowl of the ship, we pass by the crew living space, including the mess halls and gardens. Yeah, the ship is large enough it has gardens on it as recreational areas for the crew.

"Isn't it pointlessly large, then?" - comments Sykia
"Actually, form follows function as far as that is concerned. We needed the generators for the guns, the factory and the engines to be as far apart from each other as possible." - comments the captain
"So there's no single centralized power source?"
"That's correct. Each of those systems have their own, and provide different areas of the ship with power."

It actually takes us quite a while to reach the front of the ship, or at least front enough that we reach the weapons generators. The generators turn out to be drawing power from large arrays of magic crystals... but when we look further in, we can see vaguely humanoid shadows whirling inside the large crystals. Their shapes 'slide' inside the crystals' surface at high speed, making us think the crystals may be hollow.

"What are they?" - asks Miel
"Elementals. Their efforts to escape the crystals are turned into power for the gun." - explains the base commander - "Oh, they are non-sentient. Think of them as human-sized arcane storms. That is extremely close to what they are."
"Thunderstorm in a bottle.." - murmurs Sykia - "...or hamsters on a wheel."

She seems at the same time amused and dissapointed.

"Is the output steady? Where is the power stored? How much can be stored before the guns must be fired to discharge?"

The captain looks at Mako, and she asks him to answer.

"They are mindless and tireless, so they are each trying at full power all the time. It is a constant source of power, which is then stored away in mana crystals. When those are charged to capacity, we redirect them to be used elsewhere, and replace them with empty ones."

Right, the ammo for the lesser guns.

"I am told the important part is how the power flow is magnified through several ancient formations in order to achieve the full blast."

We do in fact arrive at the 'guns' themselves. There are five large stone plates placed on top of each other with some distance between them. Purple energy arcs from one to the other, arcane lightning skidding over their surface, growing thicker and thicker as they ascend.

>>1948260
"I don't know how magic works, but it shouldnt be able to increase energy just because. There's no such thing as a reverse funnel." - comments Sykia as she walks forth to take a closer look, but the general stops her by the shoulder.

"That's close enough, its dangerous to get any closer." - he says

"Eeeh... they should clearly mark dangerous areas. The good old yellow and black stripes on the floor would do fine, you know?" - she's pouting

Its somewhat fun to watch... ah, right, we'd got used to it, but whenever we think of it, it is pretty amazing how noone minds her nudity, isn't it? This world's correction effect cares about strange things some times.

The formations on the stone plates... are similar to the teleport plates from the keep.

"Give me a moment..." - we take out the grapher from our [Inventory] (its a camera) and climb to one of the catwalks overhead so we can take a picture of the full formation.

I wonder what this will lead to?

Anyway, they use the power of the trapped elementals, then pass it through several ... i don't think inductors or capacitors would be the right term since the energy is somehow amplified in the process, and use that to fire the guns.

"Range on the guns? Rate of fire?"
"They emulate the [Sword of Victory] skill, so as far as can be seen by the gunner." - replies the captain.

So basically, horizon limit, This limit should be increased now that the gunner will have a higher point of view, of course.

"How often can they be fired?"
"They can hold... ah, this is rather sensitive information..." - the captain looks at Mako
"Please answer." - she replies with a smile
"The batteries can store enough power for eleven shots. The guns can be fired as fast as desired, but after that their... rate of fire, was it? Will drop to once every 10 minutes."

Well, eleven horizon-spanning shots within a couple of seconds is pretty amazing... should we call one such shots every 10 minutes slow, or not? I guess it depends on how much damage each shot can actually pack...

"Wait, you shot down a ship with these guns, right? So rather than a cone, it was a straight line of power."
"Yes, the beam can be as thin as... about as tall and wide as a small wagpn."

Well, it's pinpoint accuracy as far as navy guns is concerned, I guess.

"Does the damage change if the beam area is reduced?"
"No, damage is kept constant. Rather, it was originally a beam to begin with. It was an achievement to increase its area of effect without losing power. And when the guns were part of the capital, the batteries were much bigger so it could be fired almost indefinitively."

Well, of course that compared to a ship, castle-sized batteries would hold a lot more power.

"Wait, you didn't remove the old batteries from the castle, did you?"
"No, just the guns. We do not know how they were crafted so we couldnt reproduce them."

Well, that sounds like they may be similar to our lightning ballistas...

Yes, we have a lot to look into.

>>
>>1948322

"I guess that means there's no schematics for the guns, right?" - sighs Sykia
"And we only have the two, and they're part of the ship's structure, so we can't dissassemble one to study it without dissassembling the ship." - we add
"So at most, we can look into the energy circuits. I guess I'll need to learn magic after all." - she rubs the temples of her head

Once we are done with the tour of the ship, we confirm that the ship is ready for takeoff...

Well, lets set a date for Mako's tour of the empire, then.

"In that case, final checks and preparations should be done in 4 days time. After that, we can take off any time her highness wishes it." - says the captain

Four days. Hm. That would be near the end of the week. Well, is not as if we have any reason to rush it, so I do believe that would be fine.

"Is that fine?" - we asks Mako
"Yes!" - she answrs. Eh, both she and Ren talk with their hands, don't they?

I mean, that they let their emotions be seen in how they move their hands as they talk. Its really cute, and when they are talking to each other, it's almost dance-like.

"Eldric. With this, lets return to the palace now" - she suggests while holding hands with Miel
"Yes." - then to the commanders- "As her majesty wishes, we will be leaving now."
"Of course."

They escort us back to the rockitship, and we take off in a rather more casual mood than when we arrived.

Hm. It was a interesting visit.

Ask Mako for permission first, and have her sign the needed documents.

We can put this (magic circuit diagrams) down as the Alquian Empire's first great contribution to the United Nations and the XCOM Project.

Alright guys, want to make a new thread or use this one? does it dissapear automatically in a couple of hours, or is it based on activity instead of age?

probably a new one so its easier to notice, dose "inspection of Flying fortress Iserlohn" sound like good description?
