You dig through your inventory but you're unable to find the potion. You grab the tent and throw it onto the swordsman to try and buy some time. The tent unfurls midair ensaring the enemy (and totally ruining the awesome 18 damage instant knockout critical hit I rolled for him)

You feel a light glass object smash against the back of your head for 1 damage You gain 19 hit points.

The sorcerer hits you with another Scorching Ray for 16 damage
"What!? You're still alive?"

The swinging mace misses Alina.

The Military Pitchfork porcupines Alina for 10 damage

Guys?
>>1722747
>"I'll pay you 15 Talons for a sack-full.
You can find them in the fields north of here, I used to do it myself but now bandits camp around that area."

We really don't need to beat these guys for 15 Talons worth of berries.

I say we back out of this fight. Now.
I would try to talk them down and maybe bluff/intimidating the sorcerer, perhaps after giving the tented guy a good thump for effect.

However, we pretty much picked this fight.
They were just questioning our sauntering up to a bandit camp at night to pick berries, we demanded they end their wicked ways, and then when directed to talk to guy in charge, we attacked.
Basically, we were acting like an LG dick.
Which is great if we could have backed it up.

The best idea I have is to play this all off as a good natured joke and a bracing evening workout.
...because we're all badass like that bluffity bluff-bluff.

At the first sign that they aren't buying it, we pull the whole, "There's a broccoli man behind you!" trick, grab Alina, and book it.

Anyone got a better plan?

Burning a man alive seems like escalation.
Alternatively, it would work better as a distraction than an imaginary broccoli man.

On the plus side, burning our 2nd tent might allow him to survive without too much harm and distract them while we run for our lives.

Alina might think twice about following us though.
We could just agree that killing was unnecessary so we ran.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

You toss a torch and oil flask on the tent. The flames start consuming the tent and the boxes stacked next to the yurt. The man trapped inside starts moving about frantically and cutting open an exit.

You grab Alina's wrist and start to retreat and the weapon wielding bandits choose to deal with the fire instead of pursue you. You can hear more bandits shouting and running to the scene. In particular you can hear the clanking of a man running in metal armour.

The sorcerer however is neither extinguishing the fire or attacking you. He's just watching.

(You think to yourself "Well if you kill me while i'm wearing the armour it will deactivate itself again")

The bandits leave you alone with the armour and start quietly standing guard outside the exit. It seems like there's more of them than the five you've already seen.

"You have one hour Christof, after that we're coming in. and we're bringing Alina with us."

The ritual of reactivation will enable all of the armours enchantments.
The ritual of renewal will recharge the suits "power reserves" this suit already has plenty of power, although the bandits would have no way of knowing that.
The ritual of Disintegration destroys the armour to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. The distintegration can occur immediately after the ritual or after a certain amount of time designated by the abjurer.

"Give her a clouting!" Devin sneers. One of the bandits beats her several times with a wooden club.

Alina looks like shes trying her hardest not to burst into tears.

"Now where were we? Ah yes, you were about to activate my armour. Since I'm such a nice guy my original offer still stands. Now commence the ritual."

>Activate the armour ("I'll hunt you down one day and take back this armour")
>Sabotage the armour ("You'll gain no use from this you monster")
>write in

Disheartening, but since one option will almost absolutely result in our demise, and I can't think of anything clever that'll get us out of this situation, I'm going to have to begrudgingly select:

> Activate the armour ("...")
>>
Rolled 60 (1d100)

>>1943620
Well, shit.

>>Activate the armour
"Agreed. No greater harm shall come to Alina or myself by your command or a curse will befall this armor. I may have mislead you about the need for isolation, but the silent hour is still required. Shall we get started?"

Let's NOT tell the bad guy why he should kill us immediately after we help him.

I'm heading to bed. Hopefully my aura of bad luck will also leave...

Goodnight everyone...

Alright, gotta end the session here. (My drawpad stopped working)Thanks for playing everyone. Seeker quest will continue next week.
>>
This is the 10th session of Seeker quest, I've never ran a quest longer than 10 before but currently I intend to continue running this quest until its end. Right now the quest has a score of 6 in suptg on it's first thread which is really motivating to me. Any feedback is appreciated. Especially to the following questions.

I usually start a thread with a landscape image, which is irrelevant to the current situation and just have the OP "A fantasy RPG." Would you prefer if the OP was just straight into the actual quest instead of a title card?

Sometimes I use an airbrush tool to make a lazy lighting effect. This lowers the quality of the image imo but allows me to update the quest faster. Any preference towards speed vs art quality?

What do you think of Alina? She's a serious case of ascended npc, she basically only exists because one anon asked to talk to a blonde girl. I was neutral to her at first but now I really like her.

Are there any parts of the quest so far that you enjoyed best?
>>
Feel free to ask questions. Here are some that I ended up ignoring during the session.

>>1942411
>Also hypothetically speaking QM is dual wielding something possible? Or taking up a shield and bashing someone with the rim?

I haven't implemented those as game mechanics, but you can basically do anything. If it's not supported by the game when you try to do it I'll make up prototype rule immediately (When I made the first thread I hadn't made the magic rules yet and some guy invested all of Christof's skill points in magic.) So yeah, feel free to dual wield shit/ shield bash/ kick enemies in the balls.

>>1942418
>You should list out some of the relevant mechanics in the opening posts or where it's relevant.

I'm not sure about this, I kind of feel like pastebins/mechanic dumps are a bit unsightly in a quest. I prefer to just share the relevant information when asked.

some interestingish trivia

The quest originally had classes, such as Archer: +20% to hit with ranged weapons, -40% to hit with melee weapons, You could select 0 to 2 of them at the end of character creation but I removed them because I thought chargen was taking too long.

There is a luck attribute. But I hid it during character creation. Christof has a luck of 5.

The Uthanian Armour gives 15 DT, 55 DR, and 35 magic resistance.

The original name was "Wish Seeker Quest."
Thanks again for all your support. Hopefully the quest continues to go well.

Great quest OP, as I said before, I fucking love it.

I think it doesn't matter what you get for an OP as long as it's from your design. And about the airbrush, I say generally speaking all the art from this quest has been great enough as it is and there's nl point in my opinion on trying to get all artsy. The point of the pictures are to make the quest more immersive and the character more likeable and recognizable, quality isn't really important. I like your artstyle anyway. I find it specially funny when cartoonish funny looking Christof does things like smash an innocent vegetable into pieces shamelessly.

As for Alina, I like how you've managed to give her some personality whats with being insecure or the snarky comments. Makes her much more realistic in a sense.

Keep up the good work. Id suggest to remind us to vote in suptg if we like the quest. Its easier that way for us to remember.

Waiting for next thread!

>I prefer to just share the relevant information when asked.
I agree with this approach.
You could mention it's a roll under percentage system, but you've been good so far.

>I removed them because I thought chargen was taking too long.
Great instinct.

I like the name you landed on.

>>1943698
>Would you prefer if the OP was just straight into the actual quest instead of a title card?
I generally would prefer jumping straight to the action, however you have been doing a very nice job with your title cards and I find them very engaging.
Your art style also makes the title recognizable despite not being a consistent image.

>Any preference towards speed vs art quality?
Well, I never noticed the dip in quality, so there's your answer. As an artist, I know we always see the flaws others might never see.

>What do you think of Alina?
She is delightfully unexpected in every way.
I like having a companion that isn't a usual archetype.

This was the first session I was almost on time for.
It did not disappoint.
Party on.

Here's a side by side comparison of the slow vs quick lighting.
>>
>>1947138
Which one's which? Slow on left, quick on right?
>>
>>1947156
yeah
>>
>>1947138
>>1947175
Ah, I see it.
I actually prefer the quick, but if the shadow of the slow were a touch lighter so that the obscured details were more visible, I would definitely like the slow better.
But the quick is good.

I'd say reserve the slow for when you think the effect would really pay off, but that's just my opinion.

Should you chose to go for more detail over faster output, may I suggest experimenting with layers...

Disclaimer: Not certain whether PTS has all the features to make this work, as I use Gimp myself.

Try stacking black layers over one another with incrementally diminishing levels of opacity (Darkest should be on top). You can then use the eraser or lasso tools to cut an increasingly large radii around the light source in each layer (Highest Opacity = Largest hole, Lowest Opacity = Smallest hole). When that's done just use the blur or dissolve tools to make it look more natural...

I achieved this effect with three layers (99% Opacity, 66% Opacity, and 33% Opacity)...

Thanks for the advice.

For both methods I normally make a black layer at around 50% opacity.

For the airbrush way I just click a few times with my cursor centered on the light source with the brush colour set to transparent.

For the slow method I use a binary pen set to transparent to "draw" the light from the light source.

I use tools other than fill bucket and binary tool sparingly because I think gradient colours don't mix well with the simplistic art style.

The slow method helps add to the illusion of 3D because of the shadows cast.

The airbrush method makes it look like the light travels through solid objects as easily as air and no objects cast a shadow making the image look a little bit off.

>Bring a girl along who can't handle herself
>Killed all of the defenseless vegemen for no good reason
>Attacked a bandit camp
>Peeked around a corner for no reason and got caught
Quest players are irredeemable
>>
>>1951997
To be fair, she really saved him during the battle with the vegemen and does an okay job adding DPS.

But yeah, killing the last veggieman and more importantly, attacking the bandit camp was dumb.
>>
>>1951997

Defenseless isn't how I'd describe those vegetables...

However, this session was a complete shitshow in terms of successes to failures/good ideas to bad ideas, not going to argue that...
>>
>>1952165
>>1951997
Eh the veggies needed to die you cant just leave magically created creatures roaming around

>Seeker quest will continue next week.
And yet I keep steadily checking the catalog for the next session like an autist.
I think that means you're doing good work, QM.
No pressure, just praising.
