It's been a long and exhausting night, full of food, friends, karaoke, and possible new half-siblings nearly getting your ass kicked by an enraged bouncer.

Now though, you wake up at 9am, sprawled across your bed (when were these sheets changed?) with a bright, new Saturday morning in front of you.

Okay, a dark, new Saturday morning. And rain pouring down outside. Yippee. At least for now, you can

(Welcome to Shitty Acting Quest, part deux! Previous part can be found at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=shitty%20acting%20quest, but to summarize: everybody keeps critting. That's it, that's the summary. Enjoy!)

Sup, QM!
I guess do some housework. Too early to be doing acting stuff.
btw, did you happen to see that idea end of last thread?
>>
>>1954553
Which idea? Dying his hair? I'm fine with just letting you guys come to a majority concensus before I make any confirmations regarding Gabe's appearance.
>>
>>1954560
Not that one, although thanks for the conformation. The walls of black conversation, slightly before it.
>>
>>1954560
The other idea, for the Lelouch. i think. and so far majority agreed with just him being a good looking guy with black hair that he dyes blonde, blue eyes and stubble.
>>
>>1954538

Work on getting even more into character for our role.
We gotta BECOME our character.

>>1954572
The fact that people seem to like it has been taken into account, but I can't guarantee that's going to happen. You'll have varying levels to affect how the script progresses (or if there's more episodes or another season!) depending on how good the show is and viewer ratings, how good you personally are and how much the writers/director are willing to accommodate you, etc.

Because of that, the plot development for the show is very much up in the air, but with proper planning and rolls, you could totally pull it off. Alternatively, you guys might find yourself gunning for a different end to the season, so barring some spectacularly failed rolls, it's basically in your hands. Whatever the case, rest assured that there isn't already a set way for the show to develop.
>>
If that guy talking about not wanting to be a 'generic white guy' from the last thread is around. I just want to say you make zero sense. Blonde hair and blue eyes, the combo you have a problem with, is literally one of the rarest that exist. Having brown hair and eyes would be generic.
>>
I'd rather his appearance just be Anon so we can all self-insert into it.
>>
>Work on an acting skill (specify).
Improv maybe? Or is that just something we can do if we know the characters in the scene well enough?
>>

What, no Yu-Gi-Oh style hair and color-changing eyes? I am disappoint.

We're tied 2-2 for acting and housework right now, by the way, if anyone hasn't voted, please do!
>>
>>1954611
Housework! We can't sword with our controllers and mangas in the way.
>>
>>1954611
I dunno, is it mutually exclusive? We can do housework while practicing line, with lower bonus to lines due to multitasking. If there is no tie breaker.
>>
>>1954601
Clearly.
I mean, it was suggested last thread that we might have blue-violet-ish eyes, and since it seems we dye out hair brighter...
>>
>>1954618
Sure, you can multitask, with higher DC obviously. If you also want to specify what aspect of acting you want to train as well, that would help. Vocal stuff? Emotions? Body language? Accepting an Oscar?
>>
>>1954538
>Get some housework done.
>>
Gonna write for housework, it's edging practise out.
>>
>squeaky clean

With.a long groan, you resign yourself to the fact that yes, you haven't done much housework lately, and yes, your sheets really DO need to be changed.

Muttering complaints, you drag yourself through a quick breakfast and wash, followed a delightful couple of hours getting through al the work you really should have already done - apartment cleaned, laundry in the wash, bedroom smelling surprisingly good for a teenager living on his own, and the lone plant in the kitchen in a state of shock as you actually water it for once.

>Gained publically acceptable home! Can invite people back without looking like a filthy pig!
>Gained extra self-control! You can put up with boring, necessary evils a little easier!

The reward for hours of hideous, unappreciated work, is a meal of hideous, unappreciable green things. And a couple of scrambled eggs, which you add some salt and pepper too, in a fit of culinary genius.

You're like Gordon Ramsey version 2.0, but crappier.

>MIRROR DELIVERY

You're interrupted from planning by a text announcing the delivery of your new (second-hand) mirror, as if the universe suddenly remembered it was meant to be this morning, and quickly threw it in.

But that, of course, is impossible.

You still have a few minutes before they get here, so you take a minute to check what's up with that missed call you got, the one that's been blinking at you from your landline for a while now.

{Hey, Gabe, it's Sam,} the message warbles. {Don't know if you've seen, but the convention dates have been announced! Make sure you book your ticket, we'll all make a road trip out of it, yeah? And get online, we need to shoot some-} The message cuts off, going over the allotted time.

Sam, your best friend, the guy you... haven't actually spoken to in tlast few days. Admittedly, you've been busy, and he probably has too, pulling as many shifts as he can at the local comic store. The pair of you, as well as most of the gang of your friends and casual acquaintances, have been looking forward to being old enough to make it to San Diego for full geek-outs for... well, years.

Turning it over in your head as you head out and downstairs, you consider whether you'll be able to make it after all.

The guy selling the mirror turns out be a woman; it's light and unwieldy, and you thank god the elevator's working today, as you carefully heft it inside and up to your apartment.

It's really common in all anglo speaking countries and overrepresented in the media all the time. It's bland and boring.

Also wrong in being a rare combination. If anything those traits are rare on their own, but they're extremely common together. Much more rare is a dark skinned blue eyed or a dark eyes redhead or whatever. If Gabe is going to be a white male in an anglo country, blond blue-eyes is generic af.

... Have you never actually been to an anglo speaking country? No, it's not. brown hair and brown eyes are both dominant. They're far more common everywhere but scandinaiva basically. Blonde hair and blue eyes are rare full stop. Black hair is the most common, brown hair among Caucasians.

>89 + 9 acting + 5 improv + 5 mirror screw -up bonus = 108
>Also ComicCon

Mirror placed conspicuously in your lounge, for DRAMA value (literally), she pull out your phone and quickly check the ComicCon info. Yeah, it's scheduled for November - the announcement was horribly late this year, thanks to some funding issues and a lawsuit over the last ComicCon, which has only just blown over.

In any case, it's running for four days, and hotels will undoubtedly be being rapidly booked up already, so you'll need to arrange tickets quickly if you want to make it, despite only being June now.

Flicking through the website, you have a look through the schedule; various panels, guest appearances, traile- wait.

Shining Sentai: Battle! is scheduled for a 'To Be Confirmed' Q&A panel and meet and greet on the final day of ComicCon.

Wow.

Shaking your head in sheer disbelief that you may find yourself a guest at ComicCon this year - providing the show doesn't flop - you take a deep breath, toss the phone aside, and step in front of the Mirror Of Amard, which shows not your face, but your heart's drama.

>108

Like a switch being flipped, you sink comfortably into Darkheart/Lionel's character, posture straightening and eyes narrowing as you glare at your reflection.

For the next hour, you stand there except for some steps to either side, running through a gamut of emotions as your character responds to a variety of hastily thought up situations, before you even allow yourself to plan a thought out reaction.

As you come finally come to an exhausted end, you relax back into yourself, staring at the young man in the mirror. Now would be the perfect time for a description of your appearance, but that seems both stupid and pointless, so you hold off. You are, however, probably white and possessing the usual number of limbs.

>Acting increased to lvl 10! Now +10 to Acting rolls - Acting gains from now on will be smaller!
>Improv improved to +7!
>You feel more comfortable playing Darkheart/Lionel!

Stretching your arms, a little tired from the rampant gesticulation you've just performed - Darkheart's armor means you'll have to use exaggerated movements to display much of his emotions - you consider your next move.

The next swordsmanship lesson is at 7pm, which gives you about the entire rest of the afternoon and evening to prepare yourself - which you do by checking the website.

Apparently you don't need to bring anything or call ahead; just wear comfortable shoes, and stabby objects will be provided. Presumably you have to wear other clothes as well, if you don't want to be arrested.

The website doesn't mention anything about tonight's session being cancelled, so you mentally mark that into your 'Shit To Do' calendar and try to work out what'll be done for the rest of the day, considering it's only 1pm.

There's only one thing left to do, after a successful bout of training, and before you learn to stab peolple - ya gotta watch brightly-colored superheroes beat the crap out of monsters.

And maybe work out a little, but that can wait.

You pick Val's number from your contacts - the guy apparently knows his entail after all - and he picks up after a few rings, with a gruff, "'Lo."

"Hey Val, it's Gabriel, from the park!" Just in case he didn't check who was calling first. "Just wanted to ask, seeing as you're a sentai fan and all - do you have any recommendations for shows?"

There's a brief pause. Then, at a speed you wouldn't have expected of the guy, he rattles off six names of shows, two of which you've vaguely heard of before. Then he tells you two sites you can download good quality copies from without silly little things like 'paying', and - wow, he's really enthusiastic about this, isn't he? You can hear the fervent passion as without even prompting, he clarified which seasons to watch, which episodes to skip, and whether to watch the sub or dub for each one.

Huh. He is... definitely a fan.

You've scribbled down the show name as Val speaks, letting him continue his mini-thesis on classic vs. modern sentai shows, and quickly thank him as he slows down to a more reasonable speed, vaguely amused.

It should take a while to download; you setyour laptop up to download the first few episodes of each show, and consider whether to

Despite the hard work, you can't help but feel energised throughout the whole thing; straight into the zone, and not emerging from it until you find your water bottle drained, and that several other people have finished their own workouts and gone home while you've been exercising.

Today, apparently, is a good day.

Pleasantly tired, you ease through the cool down routine, feeling like the spirits of exercise are watching over you, and wonder if you should give Maria a call to check whether there's some kind of Gym God you should be paying homage to.

Heading home at another jog - no reason not to, as long as you're careful - you politely greet one of your annoying neighbors (who eyes your sweaty exercise clothes suspiciously), and save rolling your eyes for when your door is closed firmly behind you.

Most of the episodes have finished downloading, so you freshen up, grab an apple (red, not green, which makes it slightly more edible) and settle down to watch an episode of one of the top sentai shows; Seigi no Heishi, or Soldiers of Justice.

It sure is brightly coloured. And loud. And full of surprisingly fun costumes, even if they aren't the greatest - the monsters are all latex or CGI, and the heroes have way too much spandex. The show IS nearly ten years old, admittedly.

Speaking of, do we have a Wii u or a powerful enough computer so we can play wonderful 101? If it exists here? Might help.

thats not a bad idea either, we should find some video games that need physical exercise.
>>

Hadn't heard of this game, but added to my wish list now!

Okay, I'm heading to bed, will start early tomorrow due to late start today. 6-6.30pm GMT. And if anyone has the iOS game Chroma Squad, let me know whether it's any good!

Night all, sorry about tonight - will do my best to make up for it tomorrow, if you promise not to crit.
>>
>>1962576
Already? Aww.

Yeah, wonderful 101 is great. Now you've heard of it!

Let's do this thing I guess. I was thinking of calling one of our actual friends at some point but fuck it we don't need frends any more now that we're a skill-grinding power player.
>>
>>1962991
We'll do that on our cheat day. Can't go every day power grinding, we'll get mentally and physically exhausted. Picking up wonderful 101, calling , and just relaxing for a say seems in order, but not any time today or tomorrow. Maybe the day before the final day before recording.
>>
>>1962576
Chroma Squad? Played on Win, it's pretty good. I'm not the best at tactical games, but I enjoyed. I never got around to finish it tho.
I probably still have a spare key off humblebundle, so if you want I could pass it to you.
>>
>>1962576
Oh shit! We need to grab some Oreos while we're out!

Don't worry about it, just wanted to know if it was worth dropping five quid on it, but thanks.

'Evil lieutenant' seems to be a standard feature in sentai shows, although there often seem to be more than one of them; emo teen is also a regular, although they're rarely the same person as the evil lieutenant.

Taking a cue from their roles, you wander in front of the mirror, position yourself into your character, and start rattling off another round of improv, based on the characters shown in your new sentai episodes. Because you can.

You run through various scenarios, some taken from the shows in question, and some variations, running through the various ways that Darkheart/Lionel might react.

By the end of it, you think you're pretty much as close to completion of his character as you can get without seeing more of his scenes in the upcoming scripts. On the bright side, you should be filming in a couple of days, so there should be more soon.

Barely pausing to grab a snack, you toss your jacket on, and head back outside, like some kind of Duracell-powered go-getter. You have SWORDS to practice! SWORDS to master! SWORDS to -

Leave at the side of a room, while everyone else practices with them.

You get given a long, blunted stick.

"Can't give you a blade straight away, even if it isn't live!" The guy who runs the class is big, beefy, and currently dressed in jeans and shirt, despite the photos on the wall of him and others in full medieval clothing and armor. He's also oddly jovial for a guy who's teaching you where to hit a training dummy with a giant stick that's meant to be a longsword.

You don't quite suck at swording your way into things, but it's still a massive letdown from your bizarre series of inexplicable successes over the last few days.

"I should be better at this," you gasp at the instructor, Rashid, after a solid twenty minutes of feeling a broom handle reverberate up your arm.

"THRUST. HARDER." Then he breaks off into peals of laughter. Again. Apparently training here involves having to put up with repeated innuendo, as proven by several pairs of sparring students yelling gleeful phrases regarding impalements, sheathes, and force versus technique.

They may all be insane.

On the bright side, free biscuits.

>+1 to General Swordsmanship!

You have a feeling if all sessions are like this, it'll take you a while before you learn how to weird a weapon effectively - although from the padding people are wearing, it looks to get a little more physical after a while.

As everyone pauses for a break and a cup of coffee, you

>Mske conversation with the other students.
>Go over to look at the photographs.
>Head over to inspect the (blunted) swords.

ARE all sessions more or less like this?
>>
>>1965621
Depends. Hitting a training dummy with a stick? No, that's just to perfect your grip and so he can get an idea of your skill level and physical ability.

As for everyone making sword innuendo, yes, that's normal. They're toning it down in front of you.
