You give him a minute to build up his nerve, trying to encourage him by saying that this is something that needs to be done, and that the Grand Kai won't get mad at him for it.

"I know, it's just," King Kai shakes his head. "You're right. Let's go in there and talk to the boss."

The two of you step into the mansion, finding yourselves standing in a luxuriously furnished foyer, vacant of any living things, but with an abundance of fancy paintings and busts in the Grand Kai's likeness.

King Kai takes the lead, crossing the room and making his way down a long hallway. Figuring that he knows where he's going, you follow, letting him guide you through the massive mansion of the Grand Kai. The hallways are mostly barren, with the occasional statue or painting popping up here and there, and a seemingly endless collection of doors lining the walls.

King Kai stops before a massive set of golden doors, taking in a deep breath before pushing them open.

Beyond the doors is a massive room, mostly empty save for a set of stairs leading up to a throne, atop which sits the Grand Kai himself, who looks up at some sort of giant screen. On the table beside his throne, there are various snacks and drinks laid out. The screen seems to show a pair of alien warriors battling with one another, though the video halts as the Grand Kai looks toward you and King Kai.

"North Kai, Tofoo, thanks for dropping by," he greets, hopping off his throne and down the stairs.

He's dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, as well as the sunglasses he never seems to take off. There's a relaxed smile on his face as he approaches you and your boss.

"So, what's been going on?" he asks, placing his hands on his hips as he stops in front of the two of you.

You start things off with a respectful bow. "I've become the Guardian of the Earth."

"Is that right?" Grand Kai asks, sounding pleasantly surprised. "Well, well, look at you. You've certainly been growing since I last saw you, haven't you?"

"Yes, sir," King Kai tells him. "His power has climbed to incredible new heights, and his ascension to the throne of Guardian has brought him even further."

The Grand Kai strokes his beard thoughtfully. "Yeah, I can sense that...."

He brings his hand down. "So, Tofoo, did you come all this way to tell me about your new promotion?"

You shake your head. "A terrible monster is terrorizing Earth, and I need your technique to stop it."

"My technique?" Grand Kai questions. "And which one would that be?"

"He's referring to the release of life-energy you used to stop the Tree of Might," King Kai explains.

"Hmm...well that's no small request," Grand Kai muses. "I'm sure North Kai's already explained the rules on this to you, Tofoo."

"Of course, sir!" King Kai assures him.

"But, I might be willing to bend the rules a bit, if you can prove yourself," Grand Kai tells you.

"Seriously?!" King Kai asks in shock.

"Seriously," Grand Kai confirms. "Tofoo, I have two tests for you. If you do well enough on both, I'll teach you the technique."

Grand Kai leads you through the halls of his mansion, skipping all the way as he guides the way to the room where you will engage in the first of the two tests.

King Kai, who can't seem to believe that the Grand Kai is even giving you the chance to prove yourself, follows behind, a dumbfounded look on his face.

Finally, Grand Kai stops in front of one of the countless doors, pushing it open to reveal a dark room. He jumps inside, and you follow, finding yourself awestruck as you get a good look at the room.

It's not just some dark, empty room. You find yourself staring into outer-space, with stars, planets, and asteroids all spread before your view. As you move into the room, you find yourself floating, eventually guiding yourself out toward the Grand Kai.

"Pretty nice, isn't it?" Grand Kai asks. "Sometimes I like to just throw on some music and float around in here for a while."

"What is this place?" you ask in wonder.

"Well, that's a bit hard to answer," Grand Kai admits. "But it's more or less a dimension under my control that I can shape pretty much however I want. Watch."

He holds out a hand, and a new asteroid pops into existence, starting its journey through the dark skies as you watch in amazement. As the asteroid floats away, it suddenly flattens into a disk, and then reforms into a stone statue of the Grand Kai. Then, in an instant, it's gone.

"Pretty cool, don't you think?" the Grand Kai asks.

You can only nod.

It takes a moment for you to remember your reason for being here, but you soon remember to ask the Grand Kai about the first test.

"Right," he nods. "So, the first test is simple; you're going to fight me."

King Kai shrieks in shock. "FIGHT YOU?!"

"That's right, fight me," Grand Kai confirms.

King Kai looks at you as if he sees a dead man. "Tofoo, are you nuts?! No mortal could ever hope to defeat the Grand Kai! They say that his fighting style is beyond imagining, and that no being in the universe can best him!"

Grand Kai smirks. "Well, it looks like Tofoo's up to the challenge, North Kai. I'm sure this will be an interesting match."

He holds out his hands to either side. "Well, Tofoo, whenever you're ready."

"Kuma-Ken!" you shout, deciding to get serious from the start.

The Grand Kai drops into a somewhat relaxed defensive stance, his expression difficult to determine with the glasses on his face. His form, while quite relaxed, does seem to offer plenty of aid in terms of defense, provided that he can move fast enough to deal with your attacks.

King Kai covers his eyes.

With a yell, you rush toward your opponent, attacking with a series of punches and kicks that forces him into a rapid retreat. His reflexes are impressive, and for a while, he's able to block or deflect any strike you make. His expression never changes, not until you throw an extra-powerful kick at the side of his head.

His arm comes up in time to block it, but he's not fast enough to deal with the kick you throw at his stomach with your other leg. It's a direct hit, and the Grand Kai is knocked back, stopping himself a short distance away.

"Well, alright then, I guess I can go all-out with you," he says with a chuckle. "You should last more than ten seconds."

Once again, he takes a fighting stance, though this one is a far more focused offensive pose. A strange sensation suddenly overcomes you, a feeling of great pressure seeming to emanate from the Grand Kai as you find yourself unable to sense his energy.

"Okay, my turn."

This time, you go on the defensive, planning to wait for a chance to counterattack the Grand Kai and land another blow.

Grand Kai comes charging, throwing a kick at your face. You bring your arm up in time to block it, and the two of you slide through the sky. From behind his sunglasses, the Grand Kai looks down at you, and you look back, barely registering that he's moving in time to catch his knee as he attempts to strike you with it.

In that same moment, his right hand comes to your face, and a blast of energy sends you flying away, tumbling through the void until you manage to stop yourself.

Looking in the direction of your opponent, you're able to see four different Grand Kais rushing for you, two coming at your level, and two coming from above you.

You stand your ground. It's not clear which of these is the real Grand Kai, and you might not have the time to figure that out. And, on the off chance that all of them are real, you aren't confident that you can fight off four of him.

Luckily, you have some alternatives. This will take some energy, but it will at least buy you some time if it works.

As the four Grand Kai move in to strike, a yell rips from your throat, and a blinding light explodes from your body, going out in all directions. The Grand Kais don't have time to act, and are swallowed by the light, with only one remaining when it dies down.

His clothes are a bit ripped, and he has some serious scorch-marks on his body, but he doesn't seem all that injured. Still, you can tell he felt that.

"Woo," he sighs, wiping sweat from his brow. "You've got some real strength there, Tofoo."

"Thanks," you tell him, eyes widening for a moment as you feel something move in the air behind you.

Spinning around, you fire an energy blast, hitting the asteroid that was coming right for you, and blowing it into millions of tiny chunks.

Once again, you feel movement behind you, and turn just in time to grab the Grand Kai by the ankle as he attempts to kick you. His other leg swings, but you move your head to the side, avoiding the strike. With yet another spin, you hurl the Grand Kai away from you.

He backflips, sliding through the sky as he holds his hands toward you and unleashes a massive volley of energy blasts.

Eyes narrowing, you brace yourself, then begin to move your hands, swatting the blasts away one by one as they come for you. As you bat the last few away, you see the Grand Kai charging from behind them, and parry the punch he attempts to throw at you, grabbing hold of his wrist and pulling back your right arm. He brings up his left knee to block the punch, and kicks out with his right foot, striking you in the chest and pushing you back. At the same moment, he wrests his wrist free, and creates a large ball of energy, hurling it right for you.

"Kai-Kai!" you shout as the blast comes for you.

You find yourself behind the Grand Kai, and pull back your arm for a punch, only for his elbow to slam into your gut. Hunching over, you gasp in pain as saliva flies from your mouth.

The Grand Kai does a backflip over your head, and kicks out with both legs, striking your back and sending you plummeting like a meteor through the sky.

As you stop yourself and look up, you see the Grand Kai closing in, preparing to strike.

He lowers his arms, and a smile creeps onto his face.
