You know what? You dont need to deal with these complicated reassurances. You just had to deal with a pokemon trying to invade your mind. Today your just going to have fun with your brother.

You know who could answer those hard questions for your brother? A therapist.

But you arent even able to handle public interaction, so this burden is definitely to heavy to be foisted onto you.

What you can do however is have a good time and hope your brother is dragged in it to.

Now thats all well and good but there is a lot of things you can do and hiking is right out given what happened last time... but that still leaves plenty of things.

Its a bit hard to pick if your honest, you are tempted to check the shops but also that sounds like work.

You can just play cards or something...

Fortunately however if a decision is hard, you can always try not making it. At least that's what worked for your dad.

So what you are going to do is go shopping for CARDS! Then you can fight him in the shop and then do a two on two matches against strangers and who knows!

If you are going to get your game on your going to have to get good.

That means cards. You head over to the game store owner, checking out the booster packs.

As expected they are seperated by types so you grab five Kawaii Killers and a handful of Oooky spookys...

You know you should buy some for Sebastian, you dont think he even has a deck...

Sebastian stares at the packs, Mimikyu having wandered off to the pokedoll section. "I don't get it." He confesses. "Whats the difference?"


Looks like hes not sure what to use, which makes sense since he hasnt played before.

You know they say what deck you use in your formaitive years as a impact on your developing... aaaand your bored.

You decide the best thing to do is get him a deck like yours.

Unfortunately you dont have a exact copy of your deck but they do have a starter deck called Magic Tricks centered around status afflictions and healing.

That seems like a good way to learn the game so you buy that alongside a few packs for him to diversify.

And you got a good haul with the pacts especially now that Alola pokemon have been introduced.

You have enough new cards to tweak your deck to a different strategy

But what?

You decide the best idea is to do what you always should do, get your favorite pokemon out and keep them out as long as possible so they can do cool shit.

You finish up your deck, adding some pokeballs, some cool ghosts with stall skills so you can keep Mimikyu going strong.

Now that you have your deck and Sebastian has his you can finally start your match.

"Alright first we show our team!" You say flipping over your roster of Snorlax and Ghastly. Now I play Pokeball and..." You flip. "I can search Mimikyu EX from my deck and I put him on my bench with wonder energy."

Once you got 3 more energy on her you can send Mimikyu in with Switch and spam Moonblast and sweep their team. Kinda like what you do in real life.

Sebastian frowns as he looks at his espurr, placing a energy on the card as he looks over his limited options. "I guess I just... don't attack this turn."

A reasonable choice given Espurrs only attack would make Snorlax fall asleep and THAT hardly matters.

"Alright if you need help can I see your hand?" You ask as you place your cards on the table. "See I'll play with my hand face up too."

You look at his hand. "Okay so first play Bill, then play that Double colorless..." You give suggestions to your brother and at the end of the turn your facing a Meowtic as well as Flabebe and Snubbel and your taking a bit more damage on your Snorlax.


Fortunately its not like your situations all that desperate and you put some energy on Mimikyu and heal Snorlax by making him fall asleep.

Now that you got that out of the way you play fairy garden, to insure you can keep mimikyu in and out of harms way.

Your snorlax triggers its damage ability as well which is cool.

You got a good board state going and within a few turns, while Sebastian manages to use their powerful pokemon to wipe out a few of your pokemon.

But they never quite got Mimikyu and at the end of the day your deck only needed that one card.

You shake Sebastian hand, it was a good match, espeically since he is a rookie... but not quite there yet.

Granted now that youve already fought him you have other things you can do, there isnt all that much fun in fighting the same person twice.

Probably this is some goal to help improve your social skills.

You hand Sebastian his box as you sit in the corner slowly singing the Mysterious G theme song.

"Um... Sis, what should I make." Sebastian asks a little worried You blink out of your stupor and turn to him.

Sebastian nods probably surprised you actually had a answer to that as he shuffles through his deck.

Sebastian struggles with his deck assembling as you give a few pointers, making sure hes not making the classic mistakes.

The man nods fiddling a golden puzzle cube. Specifically a sort of weird rubic cube with different pokemon for the faces. "Well best of luck to him but dont expect him to get the gold." He chuckles. "After all I am entering."

You tilt your head, mostly focusing on keeping watch on Mimikyu so they wont get into trouble. "Ya huh, but well don't you need a deck for that?"

The man smiles. "Of course but my deck is already done, all you need to do is believe in the cards and they will show you the way."

Whaaaaat? This guy is nutters.

"Don't worry." The man says standing up. "I wont go too hard on your brother. We'll talk again once I win. After all, I did come here to face the best."

Wew Boy I sure am lazy.

You are Sebastian, and to be honest you are regretting things.

Not you know, playing card games but this whole thing. Making Gurie go on this adventure.

Gurie used to be a very scared girl whod only go to select places with select people. She knew her taxi guy and would visit a shop her dad took her to, order coffee, and leave without talking to anyone.

And that was her only social exercise. She needed you to do everything and cried when Debbie bullied her.

Now she dresses up like some superhero (You say her do it but if shes not telling you that she is you wont tell her you know. Thats her secret to hide.) and is constantly surronded by animals. She hasn't really mentioned it but shes been petting Liu this entire time. Plus there is a Joltik in her hair and when you brought it up on the way here she just nodded.

That's more social interaction then you saw her have all year last time... AND SHE FOUGHT A HYPNO IN PSYCHIC COMBAT. AND FOUGHT THE MOB AS A SUPERHERO.

Which is weird because you swear you saw her friend on a wanted poster. But you cant prove it so you've been looking it up before you judge people.

The point is Gurie is almost completely different (Well not completely, she's still a bit of a asshole and she is still huge on games (Not sure about dolls)). And you were kinda expecting more of a subtle independence deal.

To be honest you dont know if your needed anymore...

Oh and um, you made a water fighting deck.

You find fighting has a lot of heavy hitter cards and you are pretty sure all you have to do is get a big enough attacker out and then you win.

To help with that you added water cause... there are a lot of water cards. Water pokemon are very common, likely cause the oceans so huge.

But you still have some times to switch.

You can't keep second guessing yourself like this, at the very least what makes you think that your next deck will be any better then your first idea anyway?

Actually Mega Slowbro isn't your trump card. He just looks cool so he's in your deck.

But your nine you get a pass on stuff like that.

You shuffle your deck as you head to your match table, your opponent sitting accross from you.

The blackbelt laughs as you flip over your magikarp.

"A magikarp, I knew you were a dweeb." Jimmy sneered as he flipped over his Regirock Ex. "Lets see a dweeb beat my elite EX..."

"Irritating splash." You interrupt placing a water energy on magikarp and flipping a coin. You show him the head of the mimikyu face. "Regirock is paralyzed."

Jimmy frowns as he places a energy on his pokemon and ends his turn. "Whatever that did no damage. I can crush your magikarp with one atta"

"Irritating splash." You interrupt as you flip the coin. "Your regirock is paralyzed."

You watch Jimmy's face go red, then pale as he passes turn after turn, as you keep flipping, his regirock loaded with energy but it hardly matters.

"HA!" Jimmy states "Cheri Berry, now you can't use your stupid splash ability."

"I evolve into Gyrados." You say, your Magikarp fully energied up.

"Well that still can't kill my Regirock."

"Startling Megaphone, you lose your tools." You say showing your card, Jimmy moving his legendary in exchange for the only pokemon in his bench, a machop.

"Now I use Terrifying Rampage. You take 80 damage." You say handing Jimmy the counter page.

"But that's still not-" Jimmy starts

"And I flip a coin." You continue.

"...No."

You flip the coin, showing Jimmy the result. "Heads, Regirock is paralyzed."

Jimmy's knuckles are white as you draw your prize card. His pokemon falling like flies from Gyrados's dominance. He doesn't even look you in the eyes as he puts his cards away and slumps off. You look at your coin, Espurr's face winking on both sides of its two heads.

Idiot.

I just got through archive binging this quest over a few days. It's been a lot of fun. I'm very excited that it's still going. Also it's nice to see that Sebastian and Gurie are getting some bonding time now that I have some idea of who they are.

Also how does adding threads to the archive work? This one seems to be about to go.
