It’s a peaceful morning in Nishishio. The cool breeze is blowing, the sun is shining, and a handful of delinquents are harassing someone underneath a bridge.

You are Sorai Sotora, and you only wanted to check out a store. On your way back from skipping classes, you saw a particularly strange scene.

The first thing you noticed was that the target of harassment was incredible out of place. In a long, flowing summer kimono, she hides the top half of her face with her parasol.

The delinquents themselves were dressed in black school uniforms, clearly belonging to some school that you can’t care about at all. You can’t make out what their saying, but that may be because of the fact that you’re wearing your earbuds and can’t be bothered to take them off. No, you don’t want to take them off.

They’re probably saying some ridiculously laughable things that you’re better off never hearing or even knowing about.

You stand there for a minute, noticing how all of the rowdy teens keep their distance away from her. When one of them takes a step forward in some kind of power move, the girl takes an equal sized step back.

This is painful to watch.

“Tch.”

You rub the back of your neck as you prepare yourself for this momentous task. In all honesty, you’d rather not do anything showy. It’s such a pain in the ass, but if you won’t do it, who will?

As you walk down the grassy incline and back onto the road, you try to come up with the best story you’ve got. She looks like she’s young enough to be the school. You pull out an earbud.

One of the three delinquents say, “Hey, what school do you go to?”

“Yo,” you say, tossing out a random name. Everyone’s attention suddenly turns to you. Not even bothering a glance to anyone else except the girl, you continue, “Ayano, what are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’re skipping.” You put on your best poker face and hope your bluff works.

The guys look at each other for a moment. “Huh?” Then one of them says to you, “Can’t you see we’re talking here?”

You go up to her, and they cautiously back off away from you anyways. She gives you the faintest smirk. “Sorry, do I know you? My name isn’t Ayano.”

You suck your teeth. This is why you don’t play hero. “Hey, I’m trying to help you out here.”

Her smile widens ever so slightly. “Oh, I’m sorry,” she says, “I should really get going. I’ll let you have fun.”

Glaring at her, you turn around as she walks away. A delinquent starts taking a step toward you, but you get in his way. He says to you, “Fuck off, kid.” Kid? He’s maybe a year older than you, two at most.

“Nah.”

He looks incredulously at you. “Tetsuyashi uniform, ehn? I’m about to teach this rich kid a lesson.” The three idiots affirm each other using various grunts. Rich? That’s a funny joke.

The kimono girl is walking away, ever so slowly and without a care in the world. She's pissing you off more than these morons.

You don’t feel like taking a beating right now.

You should probably cut your losses. Right now.

“It was fun talking to you guys, but I should go,” you say. Giving them a small wave. Turning on your heel, you start to begin getting the hell away from them.

You hear one of them say to another, “Stop him!”

Feeling something was wrong, you quickly step to the side as the wind rushes besides you. There was a quick blur of light, and then you spot one of the three suddenly in front of you, except now staggering and trying to keep his balance as he comes to a stop.

Using their arts... “Really?” you think out loud. As you continue running toward him, he starts to give you an awkward stare of concentration. His eyes flash cyan, and so do yours. He zooms toward you, his psi sputtering a pace away from you. You give him a slight nudge as he careens toward you, and he falls onto ground in a roll.

Without any second thoughts whatsoever, you get away from there as possible.

A few minutes later, you managed to shake them off. When you say shake them off, you mean ran a little and then they gave up because they can’t be bothered.

Pulling out your phone, you look at the time. At least you won’t miss the whole day. When you look back up, you find the girl from before, standing a small distance away from you, as if she had just come out of the alleyway she’s half standing in.

You glare at her. “What was that?!”

“Getting help from a delinquent to help me get away other delinquents? Seems a little pointless.”

You can tell, she’s a pain.

“I’d rather not associate myself with delinquents,” she answers. “It’s bad for my image.”

“I’m not a delinquent,” you say, “Aren’t you skipping school right now too?”

“...No?” she says.

“What’s with that answer?”

“This is school work. I’m performing my duties,” she replies. Her voice is awfully familiar, but you can’t place your finger on it.

“Duties? So that’s what you call what you were doing. Clearly you didn't need my help,” you say, “I probably saved those thugs more than I saved you.”

“Oh? And who’s to say I would’ve done anything?”

“What, were they just going to let you walk away?” you ask, “What’s with you?”

“Consider that as your punishment for not being in class right now.”

Your eyes narrow. “Are you from Tetsuyashi?”

“...And what gave you that idea?”

“...” You take a step forward. “Hey, let me see your face.”

Reaching out, you lift her parasol up, only to see

“Hey.... hey! Sorai!”

You shake your head. You felt dizzy for a moment, and your mind was completely gone.

The rabbit girl’s in front of you with her arms on her hips. You find yourself in your classroom and in your seat. It’s lunchtime, or looks like it anyways.

You say, “What is it?”

“What’s with you?” she asks, “You’re spacing out. Are you okay?” She says it in this voice that always gets on your nerves. Like she’s pushing at you some kind of authority that she doesn’t have.

“Yeah, I’m fine. What do you want?” you ask.

“The guidance counselor wants to talk to you,” she says, “And, why were you two hours late today?”

“You sound like the teacher,” you groan. You rub the bridge of your nose between your eyes.

“You’re not getting into any trouble, are you?” the rabbit girl continues attacking you. “If you need anyone to talk to—"

Oh, that really ticks you off. “I’m not the one who’s cheating on tests,” you whisper. Her eyes go wide, and she glances around to see if anyone else heard that.

“I do not.”

“Don’t think I don’t see what you were doing with your pencil,” you say, “Lay off.”

She steps back, wearing a hurt expression.

She bites her lip.

“Cat got your tongue?” you say, getting up. You see out of the corner of your vision that she’s starting to fidget. Serves her right.

“I—n-no, that’s...”

First-year’s class president was a meritocratic position. The highest score of each class from the written entrance exam was automatically given that position. Every time you think about the way she acts, you feel more and more living.

It’s not you who got cheated, but Kaori deserved it. So, why are you getting mad in her place?

...Whatever.

After letting her squirm a little, you say, “I’m not planning on telling anyone. Do what you want.”

“...” She doesn’t say anything, seemingly at a loss for words.

“The guidance counsellor wanted to see me, right?” you ask.

“Y-yeah...” she says. Just as you start to walk away, she adds, “You just want me to leave you alone, right? ...Fine.”

You pause for a moment before walking away. That was dangerous; you almost felt bad for a second. Who asked her to care about you? Hell, does she care about you or how the class looks?

Annoyed, you step out the door, right into someone else who’s holding a stack of papers.

She’s going to crash into you!

It’s too late, but you can still make sure no one falls.

You put a foot behind you just as she runs into you, her momentum throwing her body off to the side. It hits you with a surprisingly large force, almost throwing you off. Taking a step back, you brace yourself with one hand on the doorway. With your other, you grab her free, flailing hand.

She’s... she’s so damn heavy!

Pulling her up with a heave, you take a good look at who just ran into you—it’s the class president of the other class.

“My bad,” you say.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” she says, making frantic movements.

She’s one of those, huh? “It’s okay,” you reassure her, “We’re both fine, right?”

“R-right. I didn’t see you there.”

“Yeah, I did just come out of the classroom. Like I said, my bad.”

You bend down to pick up the papers, unable to stop yourself from reading it. A quick glance, and you see that it’s a sheet about a trip to Nishishio.

The rabbit girl runs out. “Are the two of you okay?!” she asks before helping pick up papers.

“We’re good,” you reply.

Then, you turn to the actual, responsible class president.

You say, ”This must be important if you were running in the halls.”

“A-ahahah...” she weakly laughs, “Sorry, I was a little excited.”

You raise one of the papers. “A trip to Nishishio, huh?” The rabbit girl looks like she wants to say something, but shuts her mouth when she briefly looks at you. You turn to her, a little frustrated. “What did you want to say?”

As if you had to give her permission. You already said you were going to leave her alone.

She replies, “I was going to get them and hand it out to everyone. It’s a school-wide event.”

The heavy girl adds, “Yes. It’s our part of the Cultural Festival collaboration with Nishishio high.”

You mumble, “This school sure has money, huh?”

The heavy—no, you should stop that before you let it slip audibly. The one who crashed into you says, “I can’t wait to visit Nishishio again. It was fun the last time I went.”

The rabbit girl says, “Ehh? You’ve been there before?”

“It’s not really that far away, in comparison.”

“Really? How was it? Does it just smell like the sea?”

“Haha, I suppose you can say that...”

When you’ve gathered up the remaining papers, you give hand it over and leave those two to their conversation. Walking away, thoughts already beginning to form.

...

“What’s this?” the guidance counsellor asks, pointing to the career survey.

“What about it?” you say. You look at that upperclassman’s neat handwriting that wrote down what you said at the start of the school year.

“Sorai,” he says solemnly. “You’re planning on becoming a stay-at-home dad.”

“Yeah.”

He shakes his head. “Have you thought about a real job?”

“Nah, I’m gonna marry into money.”

“Sorai, for gods’ sake!” he says, rubbing his brow, “You have to think about your future more seriously.”

Of course, he was going to say that. He has a point. Nowadays, people are really fickle about marrying downwards. You pretend to think very deeply for a second. Then, you start to say, “I have been thinking, and...”

“...Yes? What is it?”

“I’m gonna be an environmental scientist,” you say, “I’m gonna finally answer the greatest question of all time: ‘Why does Nishishio just reek of the sea all the time?’ And not just that. Why is every street in Kitakaze a wind tunnel? Why would anyone ever build a house in Minamiyama when an earthquake is just going to tear it down the day after? Why would anyone choose to live in an oven like Higashihono? I’m going to strike it rich, just watch.” You finish that sentence by leaning back onto your chair, completely satisfied. “And then I’ll be a stay-at-home dad.”

The guidance counsellor opens his mouth to say something, and then purses his lips instead. “That’s a start, I guess.”

“You, uh, look stiff.”

“Do I?”

“Yeah...”

“I see...”

A girl and a boy, meeting one more time before they part.

The girl looks his way, and she asks him a question. “Is it that obvious?”

“Your hair is going crazy,” he replies, unsure whether or not to help smooth them out. In the end, he does it anyways. “You’re wearing the yukata I got you.”

“I... I thought I could be a little braver with it.”

“You’re doing better than me,” the boy replies, quietly laughing.

“...I had stomach pains from the stress all week.”

“Are... are you okay?”

“Y-yes. Since you’re here.” She looks at him. Taking a deep breath, she tries to calm down. “How do I look? Please be honest.”

“You look great,” he replies. “And you’ll do fine. Come on, it’s time. Don’t want him to, uh, keep waiting, right?”

And like that, all of her worries and fears are swept away.

The girl brings the parasol over her head, and begins walking forward.

“Thank you.”

Kats - Black hair which was correct

Usagi - Blonde with a red ribbon (Chitoge)

Sorai - Light brown but I still like his actual hair color

Kururi (only recently realized it wasn't kururu) - When she 1st appeared her hair was white so I imagined a reddish pink but it became black later so I started to Imagine her with black hair

Yami - Black I think everyone also imagined that

Rori/Yuki - Never thought about it I didn't think they were relevant

Haru: Black also obvious

Rin: The same color as Sorai's actual hair

Minezaki: Blonde hair. Very messy blonde hair

Kaori: PINK AND I WILL NEVER THINK OVERWISE

You are Yuu Saki. You don’t feel too great right now, but that’s because you’ve been doing something stupid and can see it all catching up to you in no time.

Is it so stupid? Tests are a game, aren’t they? Nowadays, test-taking almost has nothing to do with them seeing what material you understand; it’s an art in itself. If then, why is cheating so wrong? So what if you bleed formulas, dates, and definitions in your pencils using your psi and ink?

Maaaybe you took it a bit too far. You didn’t mean to become class president. They’re all watching you.

Splashing cold water on your face, you give your eyes a good rub before drying everything with a paper towel. You let out a warbled cry quietly, thankful that you’re alone. Staring at yourself in the mirror for a good minute, you finally decide to leave the bathroom.

The ground suddenly shudders underneath your feet, almost making you lose balance. It goes on for a little while, but then fades away. An earthquake?

Earthquakes are rare in up north, but they do happen every once in a while. It’s a bit of a surprise when they happen, but it’s never any real danger.

You’ll take a walk around. It’s a nice day, anyways. Your legs and feet take you out of the building and into the courtyard paths. Quietly strolling, you glimpse around. Surprisingly, there seems to be almost no one outside. This school may be small, but still...

Suddenly, someone run pasts you. Well, using the word “run” would be an exaggeration; it’s more like a weak jog after someone sprinted too far. You recall seeing his face before in the other class that’s in the same year as you.

“Are you alright?” you toss out, seeing how weak he looked. It’s like the slightest breeze could knock him over at any moment, and when he would fall, he would shatter into countless pieces.

“There’s a thing,” he pants, “I, uh... a big... thing.” He tries to gestures to you, and then he gives up once he realizes he has no energy left.

You look at him worriedly. “Do you need me to take you to the nurse? You look a bit sick—”

He waves away the thought. “Nononono, get security or something.”

“What happened? What are you talking about:?” you follow him with quick steps, easily matching his speed.

“Something came out of the ground,” he says, still breathing heavily, “I don’t know, I got out of there.”

You feel the road beneath you swim and shake again, and you quickly grab the fragile student before he actually topples over. “Whoa—”

Instead of going away, the tremors grow stronger, as if they were building in front of you. A long second passes, and then the concrete splits. Covered in dirt and debris, a tall, wobbling figure of blue stone begins to climb out of the ground.

The boy gasps, “It’s here!” He breaks free from you and starts running in a completely different direction away from it.

You need to get security on this!

Taking out your phone, you take a picture of... whatever it is. It lumbers out of the ground and awkwardly tries to get its single good arm out. The other one just has a large, pure gemstone jutting out at the end, matching all of the smaller ones that protrude out of its body. It’s only for the security guard, you swear, and completely not for showing off. Nope, totally not.

It begins to lift itself upwards using its singular arm, and it’s about then you stop trying to take the perfect photo and start getting out of there.

The first thing you think of is the front gate. There’s definitely one there, so you start to run in that direction. Besides the vague sound of shifting rock that grows smaller and smaller behind you, there’s nothing off about the campus grounds.

Only a bit short of breath, you appear in your destination, and you take out your phone to show the security guard, a portly man in his late thirties. He’s in a blue uniform and seems terrible uninterested in his job.

“H-hey, there’s something in the courtyard!” you say, “Look, it just came out of the ground!”

“Ehn?” he gives you a confused look. He sticks his head forward to get a closer look at your phone. “Listen, I don’t have time for pranks.”

“It’s not a prank!” you say, “Just walk in and take a look!”

He stares at you blankly, and then he gives you a sigh. “Okay, okay. Show me.” He takes about a single step forward before the ground shudders again, this time much more subdued. Or is it just farther away?

He turns to you, and you say, “Behind you! There’s one right there!”

It takes him a second, but he eventually turns around. It’s a bit shorter and has two arms, but it’s pretty much the same thing. The security guard says, “Hey, what the hell is that?” He pulls out his radio and speaks into it. “There’s something outside, looks like a walking pile of rocks.” After giving you a glance, he adds, “I think there’s some inside the campus too.” Then, he says to you, “Get inside already!”

You start to move, but you ask, “What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to lock the gates. I’m not fighting that thing—I ain’t fighting that thing,” he answers. No surprise there. They’re not psions, and even if they were, combative talents were rare. How are you supposed to take on something like that without actual firepower?

You follow his instructions and run inside. You need to think. Where can you go? If they’re outside and in the courtyard, all that leaves are the buildings. But that dangerous, especially if one of those things were to enter one.

Except... the gymnasium. It’s a single floor, and there’s plenty of space. If there was ever a place to take a stand, it would be there!

You need to evacuate the buildings, since you doubt that everyone has got the memo. Running into the closest one you can find, the one that’s for main class, you stop yourself when you see one of the rock golems trying to get inside. There’s three students inside, trying to find a way to get out while looking in fear and confusion.

You can’t just stand there!

Your psi flares, and feel sparks at your fingertips. One foot in the ground, you lash out with your psi, grabbing onto your target without physically touching it.

You polarize the two, just as the golem steps forward, and its foot instantly falls back down. It twists its body for a moment, its rocky body loudly gnashing against itself as it tries to free itself. Then, it succumbs to the rest of your psi. Its arms fall onto the ground, and then goes the rest.

“Uh, that’s the best I can do,” you say, to the three. “A little help?”

As if snapping out of a daze, the black-haired student steps forward. Wearing a stern expression, she says, “It can’t move, right?” You nod, and she goes close enough to the golem to touch it.

“Careful!” you warn.

She puts a hand on it, and her eyes light up with psi. She twists her hand, and the large rock monster is bisected cleanly in half. With that, she instantly withdraws while another student asks, “Is it... dead?”

You pull your psi away, and when it doesn’t move for a long moment, you nod. “I need help evacuating everyone. Tell everyone to go to the gymnasium! Pull the fire alarm if you have to,” you say, “And the more people who can handle these things, the better!”

They nod, and one of them heads back into the building while the other two runs out, both of them carefully slowing down when they walk past the golem.

Fingers crossed, you help evacuate the other buildings too, hoping that more of them don’t show up.

...

The gym is packed.

If everyone stood still, it would probably be a lot more bearable, but who can stay still at a time like this? Luckily, no one was seriously hurt and they don’t seem to care enough to enter the building, but that doesn’t stop people from worrying how the streets are filled with giant, lumbering rock men.

With your initiative, the school staff managed to quickly assemble a makeshift team of student who could hold off any possible impending danger. You, of course, weren’t included, since you couldn’t really do much. Still, they gave you a brief praise for telling everyone to go to the gymnasium. It’s not that it was a particularly good place against things that can appear out of the ground—it just happened to be the least terrible.

You stand there, noting the state of confusion that everyone seems to be right now. You see some of your classmates, but they’re all scattered along with the rest of the upperclassmen and school staff.

You hear a conversation.

“Are we seriously going to just wait this out?”

“Why couldn’t I go fight with them? I’m strong too!”

“Idiot, you’re going to set the buildings on fire.”

“I’ll be careful!”

“Sure you will. Ugh, I’m getting antsy. I don’t like this.”

You don’t really want to stand around and wait, either.

Suddenly, there’s a loud banging on one of the walls. A couple of screams of surprise can be heard, and when there’s more banging, shouting breaks out. It’s complete chaos. Someone gets pushed onto you.

“Hey! Watch it!”

“Aw man, I can’t stand here!”

At this rate, someone is going to get hurt.

They’re so loud.

They’re pushing each other, trying to get out or get away.

Someone gets knocked onto the ground, and you grab their hand before they fall. They thank you, but it doesn’t register.

You’re a class president, so act like it.

But should you? You don’t deserve it. You saw the way that Sorai looked at you. No one wants to get bossed around by you, especially since you never had the right to do such a thing.

You’re not President Minezaki. You’re not anywhere near her. You can’t placate a mob just by being in the same room as them. You can’t try as hard as that certain black-haired girl. You can’t even stop cheating. But you chose this, didn’t you? If you did it once, you can do it again.

You’ll do it again and again, until the lie becomes the truth.

Without even thinking about it, you made your way to the only person you were looking for: Rori Shiba. She’s leaning against the wall, arms crossed and waiting.

You tell her, “I need to get everyone’s attention.”

A second elapses, and she says, “That’s cheating, you know.”

“Please,” you say, “You’re the only I know who can do this.”

Shiba grins. “You’re only asking because you know something you shouldn’t,” she says, “...But sure. It’s time to be a good upperclassman, right?” She looks at the person besides her, someone you didn’t notice. A teacher. “Is it alright?”

In reply, the teacher shrugs. “Why not?”

Shiba looks at you. “I’m not used to your voice, so it might be a little rough.”

“Thank you!” you say.

She closes her eyes, but you can see her psi light up. From one cheater to another.

You feel her psi pour into you, and you take a deep breath as you turn around to everyone.

You speak, and her art amplifies.

They all turn your way, drawn in. Their voices fall, allow yours to flow through the room with every word.

You don’t remember what you say; it was just so natural. You can’t help but want to protect everyone, to bear responsibility. If you were to say you were pretending, it would be a lie.

This is who you are.

You are Kaori Etou.

You part through the ocean of people until you the one you are looking for.

“Onii-sama!” you call out. You get a few odd looks, but you pay them no heed. Katsuya looks your way, and you are relieved. “There’s quite a number of them outside the academy too.” Pulling out your phone, you notice how wherever you look, every social media platform is being bombarded by the same thing. “Seems they’re everywhere.”

Sorai speaks up, and you notice that he and Kyougetsu were beside him. “The hell’s going on?” Katsuya takes out his phone and starts calling someone.

You ask, “Who are you calling?”

“Haru,” he replies curtly. You, Katsuya, and Sorai watch anxiously as it rings. You subconsciously hold your breath, only to realize it when the call finally goes through. “Hey, it’s Katsuya,” he says. A pause. “Haru? Haruko, are you there?”

You say, “What’s wrong?”

“I think I hear something,” he replies. He switches it speaker mode, and maxes out the volume. Through the awful din of the other students, an exchange could be made out.

“Says the one who tainted my daughter.” A male voice. “Why should I trust you now?”

“Are you sure you should be acting rashly?” A familiar voice. Is that...?

“You’ve not answered anything. What can you offer me?”

“Have you heard of psykinesis?” A cold reply. “You might be interested.”

“Show me.”

Suddenly, the call cuts off.

Kyougetsu asks, “What... was that?”

Katsuya says, “I have to go.”

He starts moving to the entrance.

As he walked off, you decide to follow him.

“Sorai...” you say, trailing off.

“Obviously I’m coming,” he replies.

“I—!” Kyougetsu starts off. You were expecting her to say something embarrassingly haughty, but her voice suddenly drops lower. “I’m coming too...”

With a nod, you go off, making way to the front with him.

You say, “I doubt they will let you leave so easily...”

“That’s fine,” he replies, “I know what to say.”

The crowd thins surprisingly fast as you near the entrance. Katsuya goes up to the tracksuit wearing gym teacher and says, “Let me be part of the perimeter guard.”

“Ehn, you?” he replies, rubbing his chin. “I’d say no... but you seem versatile. Alright, Katsuya, I’m making an exception this once. No fooling around, got it?”

He nods, and you step up too.

“We want to help out too.” You motion to the three of you.

He takes a quick look. “No. I know you’re feeling nervous, but just stay back. Leave it to the authorities.”

“But—” you say.

He frowns. “No buts, ifs, or anything like that. We don’t want any of you to get hurt, so sit still. Understand?”

“...Understood,” you say. You look at Katsuya, and he returns it with a small half-frown.

Sorry, but I’ll be fine, you can hear him think.

In return, you give him an stare that says, Wait for us.

He doesn’t reply. He probably didn’t get that.

The three of you start walking away from the entrance.

Sorai says, “What now?”

“I’m not giving up,” you say, “And I’m certainly not letting him go alone.”

Sorai replies, “Yeah, but how are we going to get out now?”

Kyougetsu answers, “...I can use my art! The Empress of Darkness always has a way out!”

“...” You’re not sure why she cares so much, but that’s an offer you can’t refuse. “The windows. Can you slip out of the gymnasium windows?”

“I uh...” she says, “I may not be able to get everyone out without being seen.”

So she says.

Think, Kaori, think! What can you do? What’s the best possible way of sneaking out here? You need their attentions. Make them all look to you, so they can’t see her leave.

“Kyougetsu,” you say, “Is it possible for you to get Sorai out with you at the same time?”

“It’ll be a cinch!” she replies.

“Go to the other side of the gym,” you say, “I’ll make a distraction.”

She nods and starts to leave. Sorai says, “Hey, don’t do anything stupid.”

“I won’t,” you reassure him. He disappears behind a wall of people, and you make your way to your side. Leaning against it, you take a deep breath as you carefully and slowly slide your psi upwards, careful not to let it touch anyone else. The school walls are insulated and have a thin psi barrier, but not the windows. It drifts up, out, and away.

You have a theory. If it has no eyes, then how can it see? What if it only senses? It’s clearly a creature produced using psi, so it means it could be sensitive to it.

A minute passes.

Two minutes.

Three.

And then you’re almost thrown off your feel as the wall almost bends to the sudden blow from the other side, a sign that something has bit the bait. The world is swimming, but you need to focus. The shouting and scrambling isn’t helping. The golem hits the wall again, and you move. Not to the other side, because you figure out you’ll never get there. You’re scrambling too fast. You move to the bathrooms instead. Tightly holding your phone, you try to hold onto your coordination long enough to text Sorai.

You push open the door by slamming it open with your shoulder, despite someone yelling at you. This is bad. You run over to the window, bracing yourself against the stalls and sinks along the way. Unlocking it, you throw it open to see Kyougetsu waiting for you.

She grabs you in an instant, and you feel the weight of your body throw itself in all directions. You lose yourself as you spill through the air, pulled along a silent current until Kyougetsu lets go. There is no up, down, left, or right, yet you feel as if you’re being tossed around in a tumble dryer.

You fall onto the ground and quickly push yourself up. Turning away from her, you empty your stomach onto the grassy earth nearby.

“I think someone saw me,” you say.

“Are you... are you okay?” Kyougetsu asks as she helps you up. She’s completely out of breath

“I can walk,” you say, “I’m okay.” He touches your forehead with a single finger, and you feel his psi locking down yours. When he pulls back, you find that it’s remarkably easy to stand still again without wobbling. “Now I’m okay.”

Sorai shakes his head, but he doesn’t say anything. “I messaged Katsuya. We’re meeting up at the corner of the street.”

The painful sound of stone sliding against stone finally because audible, where you realize that you’ve not only attracted one, but three golems. They’re all shambling toward the three of you. There’s no way the three of you can take on one. Maybe you can if you try, but you’re feeling extra concerned for your health.

Sorai says to Kyougetsu, “Can you get us out of here?”

“I can’t,” she wheezes, “You two are heavy. I need... to rest.”

You look in the other direction. That’s where the perimeter guard would certainly be. If they spotted you, there’s no way they would just let you go.

“I’ll lure them,” you say, “So get out of here.”

Sorai replies, “You’re coming with us, right?” Of course, you are. You’ll be there for Katsuya.

“When I see an opening, I’ll go for it,” you say.

“Kaori...” he says. Then, he says to Kyougetsu. “Get ready.”

“I-I’m always ready,” she replies, clearly still out of breath.

You stand on the ground, firmly planting your feet there. Taking a deep breath, you let your psi flow freely. Like mist, it falls onto the ground and crawls forward, grabbing around the legs of the golems. You make yourself loud and clear. Running forward, you pull the creatures toward you.

As if you were screaming for them to look at you, and only you.

They begin to turn, completely ignoring Sorai and Kyougetsu sneaking off.

You’ll lure them all, all the way to the guards. Then, when you see your chance to escape, you’ll go for it!~

Even if it’s hard to focus, you can still run faster than ever. When you run a circle around the empty courtyard, you find that four more have joined the previous three, and behind their trail of destruction you see a broken fence. You hear shouting in the direction of the front gate.

Are you drawing the attentions of those even that far away? You giggle.

“Katsuya, wait for me...~” you hum.

You leap across the roads and grass with inhuman strength, landing in a steady jog as you make your way to where the perimeter guard should be. They must’ve all went to the front gate...!

Instead, there were three more golems there, waiting for you. They move to close the circle they’ve been forming around you.

“That’s fine, that’s fine~” you say out loud.

You’ll just punch your way through. Winding an arm back, you prepare to swing at the smallest one.

Interrupting you at the last moment, a voice calls out to you. “...Don’t.”

The world splits into two for a moment. Everything on your left is blasted with cold and is coated with a layer of ice. The vapor in the air instantly freezes, letting the sky dazzle. Everything on your right becomes an inferno. Scorching fire erupts out of the stone, the weak gemstones that jut out of the golems almost melting.

It lasts for only a second because the air instantly mixes. As if there was a bubble around you, the fire blasts toward the ice, and the air becomes a fiery whirlwind of mixing temperatures. The wind tears apart the grass, dirt, and rock, surrounding you in a localized hurricane with you in the eye of the storm.

It spins for what seems like an eternity before it all settles, small debris falling from the sky in an earthy rain.

Yukikata makes her way in front of you. “...Watching you is painful.”

You want to see him again, hear his voice, grab his hand and make sure he’ll never let go.

“I need to see Katsuya~,” you say.

“Is that all you think about?” she says. You take a step forward, and you’re met with a buffeting wind. Bringing up your arms, you stagger back. “Is that... all you can say?”

You frown. “Yes, what of it?”

“...You make me sick,” she says.

You jink to the side, but you’re met with a wall of ice. Gritting your teeth, you say, “Don’t judge me.” You pull your arm back, and then you throw it forward with all of your weight. The ice cracks and shatters effortlessly.

“Etou,” Yukikata says, “Look at yourself.”

That’s it. You had enough of her face. That standoff expression and that mood. Like she knows what she’s talking about. You shout, “How can you say those things yourself?!” You leap at her, reaching for her collar, but another swirl of air makes you miss.

“I heard... you went to Hirundo Girl’s Academy,” she says, “...But you don’t act like it.”

“Shut the fuck up!” you lash out, “I don’t want anything to do with them!”

“You’re such a petulant child.” Yukikata waves her hand, the ground that you were running on becomes frozen. You slip and crash onto the ice. Growling, you dig your fingers until you find purchase, and then you launch your body forward.

Your weight crashes into hers. With one hand, you rip at her ribbon, and with the other you grab onto her hair. There’s another explosive blast of wind, and you’re forcibly torn away. The girl lets out a small yelp, and when you land, you find an unnerving amount of hair in your hands. You don’t see what’s around you.

She raises her face again, and with her face framed by her bangs, she wears the same expression as ever. You don’t see the golems that have surrounded the both of you.

You hate it. Stop it. Stop it! “Stop pitying me!” you scream, lunging for her. You ignore everything else.

Yukikata waves a hand again.

“If you refuse to care of yourself...”

Ice and fire mix, and for a moment—

You couldn’t touch the ground

As you’re lifted into the air.

You hear her soft whisper.

“Who will?”

Meta Spoilers.
Not only did your decision to go along with Sorai and Yamikigo slow them down, they would've gotten away perfectly fine. Kaori's entire section was an exercise in restraint, which is hilariously thematic when you look at her art but how she chooses to act around Katsuya.

A long time ago...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxBFab6FLls

There was a legend.

It was an old one, one that came from worlds past, worlds that are long gone. It was about a mischievous goddess that soared the skies and watching from above, and in her hand, there was a red string.

Tied around the ankles of two people, it connected them forever—in some versions of the story, the string was around their little fingers.

It could even stretch as far as the world around and back, and it would never break. It was a string of fate, one that tied together two destined lovers.

No matter how long they would wait, it was only destiny. A force more powerful than time.

But if it could be around an ankle or a finger, then why not a heart? After all, there is not another symbol that would have greater meaning.

So when the girl had woken up, it was no surprise that she had made a mistake. Or perhaps, it wasn’t one. If the legend was true, then there would have been no better proof, nothing more tangible, than what she had seen.

It was a sight she would never forget.

Even when they were cities apart, she still believed in it. Wrapping the red cord all around, she wove a nice, warm cocoon, waiting for something.

The slightest pull.

A single hint, that there was something waiting for her on the other side.

The only thing left in a discarded past that she still wanted to hold onto.

And when there was a tug, it was a violent one. It tore the cocoon to shreds and spun her around, and around, and around, all the way until she was left standing alone in a dizzying daze.

Out of her cocoon and into the sunlight.

If the mischievous goddess exists, then she could have only wondered, what could’ve emerged from such a thing? Would it be as beautiful as a butterfly?

For the briefest moment, she would have felt a pang of doubt, only for the slightest breeze to carry her worries away. She had asked herself a simple question, and the answer that lent itself was clear as day.

If she could not believe in those she loved so dearly, then who could?

Who will?

You are... Kururi.

You are Kururi Kururu.

Standing in shock, you stare outside the classroom window, watching the golems lumber around. Those shining gemstones were unmistakable. You could never forget them, nor the caves that they were taken from.

And now, they tear through the streets and in your school’s courtyard. Who could have done such a thing?

For a moment you believed that Itsumo returned, but that idea was quickly tossed aside. She didn’t remember you, so there was no reason for her to come back. There would be no reason why her retainers would return too.

So why?!

Frustrated, you can only stare on as a handful of students below try and deal with this mess.

You must do something.

No, you’re the only one who can do something.

In the end, it all falls onto you.

That is why you moved as fast as possible down the halls and up the stairs, reaching the Student Council Room without long. You haven’t seen any of them all day, and at this point you might as well check.

The door was open when you arrived, but you didn’t stick your head in. Instead, you waited patiently outside, listening to the conversation between Rin and Higami, the Vice-President of the student government.

You hear Higami’s voice. “I did my job. I’m afraid I can’t do any more.”

“She’s waiting for us!” Rin replies, “How long is it going to take?!”

“My father may be the mayor, but he’s not a miracle worker. It’ll take time.”

“There is no more time!”

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you want me to do.”

You hear Rin’s exhausted sigh. You watch as he walks out of the classroom and shuts the twin doors behind him, when you then hide around the corner. He continues down the end of the hallway.

What’s going on...?

Keeping your distance, you trail behind Rin. It’s hard to be completely silent even when you’re carefully sneaking down the halls, but the commotion outside covers for you well enough.

When he heads for the stairs, you slow down even more. Before long, his destination is clear: the roof. Rin pulls out a key and unlocks the door, pushing it open. Before he takes it out, he locks it and lets it fall back. As it begins to close, you stop it right before it fully shuts, even hearing the sound of the lock of the door brush against the doorframe.

Slowly pushing it open, you see Rin bringing up his wooden sword into the air. His psi fills vessel, and then he cuts through space itself.

You swing the door wide open, running after him. He steps through the gate, and you dive after him.

There’s a strong breeze, and you stand up.

“Y-you!” Rin says, “What are you doing?!”

This isn’t it. You’re closer to where they’re being made, but this isn’t it.

You say, “Take me closer! I can stop it!”

“No, I’m taking you back right now!” he replies.

“I can do something about this, but you need to bring me closer!”

“Don’t rock the boat, Kururi!” Rin says, “This isn’t your problem!”

This is your problem!

You can stop all of the golems, so why...?

He brings up his sword, filling it with his psi again.

Rin wastes no time. He swings his sword, slicing through the air once again.

You make a psi barrier, and watch as your psi swings up, and then down. Cyan becomes black, and on touch, the barrier disintegrates his gate as it neutralizes his psi.

He has an expression of surprise, but then he quickly erases it. “if you want to play... then fine!”

His eyes light up, and you have to act. You free your ribbon from around your neck, flooding it with your own psi and turning it into a blunt sword. Twisting his wooden sword, Rin forms a miniature gate at the end and opens the other end at your wrist.

You saw this trick when he took down Itsumo, so you should be able to—

The thrust was as fast as lightning; it strikes right onto a nerve on your arm, and you drop your ribbon. Catching it with your other hand, you swing preemptively at the next blow. It catches his sword, but he just pulls it back and attacks again.

You say, “I know where they’re coming from! I think I can stop it!”

A blow at your torso, one to your shoulder, to your leg. You stagger back, but you realize distance has no meaning when it comes to his art. You can’t focus. You can’t react to it in time.

He finally replies, “Leave yourself out of this!”

Rin suddenly widens his footing and braces low. Your eyes widen. He swings. The blow comes from behind your legs, and it completely sweeps you off balance. Falling onto the ground, you barely manage to pick yourself up before he attacks again.

You yelp as your ribbon is sent flying out of your hands.

You’re kneeling as Rin walks up to you. He’s breathing a bit heavily as he prepares to open one more gate to send you back.

“Just go back already,” he says.

You still have one more trick... but should you?

It’s not over yet... is it?

Should you run? He brought you close enough. If you try, you can probably make it by foot.

...Maybe you shouldn’t do this at all. Maybe...

But this is your fault, isn’t it? You have to clean up your own mess. No doubt this has to do with you.

This is your problem, whether he likes it or not, and you will interfere. So, you have to make it loud and clear. There is nothing to run from, nothing to hide. You’ll take full responsibility.

You bring your hand to your hair bun, your finger twirling and wrapping the bindings around tightly. With a single tug, you free it just as Rin opens the gate.

His psi disintegrates as your barrier forms a full sphere around you, not a single particle slipping through.

“What the—?!” he takes a step back as when your psi’s energy level swings into the negatives, it practically leaps out to equalize with Rin’s psi.

Your hair falls down, a flowing curtain that was once held by the pendant that’s now in your hands. A single blue gemstone set upon a metal frame.

The same stone you took with you that day. You didn’t know it then, but you had inadvertently performed the clan’s rites, finding a stone that matched you and you only. The only one that didn’t shatter when you touched it.

When you pour your psi into it, you feel it amplified. Two, almost three times greater than without it.

With it, you can stop it.

You raise it into the air, showing it to Rin.

“This is my problem too.”

Your name is Sorai Sotora.

You look at Katsuya, who’s wearing a face you’ve haven’t seen in what seems like forever. It’s as if he’s staring down a tunnel, endlessly.

“Katsuya,” you say. When he looks at you, you say, “You aight?”

“I’m worried about Haru,” he replies. “I hope she’s fine.”

Normally, people would leave it to the police, but... whatever. You tagged along anyways because why not? You’re not sure about Yamikigo, though. She seems interested, even though she doesn’t seem to have any reason to.

Luckily for the three of you, the hospital was within walking distance. Still, that doesn’t stop how you still have to go there by foot. The golems are so slow and sparse that you could, for the most part, run around them. It seems that they weren’t really intended to do a lot of damage, or at least hurt people.

Katsuya asks, “Where’s Kaori?”

You reply, “Ain’t coming. She distracted everyone so we could slip out.” You waited for a little while, but when you saw that the entire perimeter guard was falling because of a horde of golems, it was easy to figure out there’s no way she’s leaving without anyone seeing.

Yamikigo says, “Is that it?”

You and Katsuya glance at where she’s pointing, and Katsuya replies, “That’s it! We’re so close.”

The three of you run down the street, and after turning the corner, you all see...

“Predictable as always, Nekoyo.” Chiwa Fujisaki, secretary of the Student Council. She’s in the middle of the street, both of her hands on her sword that’s standing pointing toward the asphalt. “But I’m excited about our rematch.”

Without warning, she lifts it upwards into the air, and it glows brightly.

“Leave her to me,” you say.

Running up ahead, you hear Katsuya and Yamikigo start running away from the two of you, circling around to the hospital.

Fujisaki says, “Here I go.”

She cuts downward, leaving a trail of light, shooting a curved projectile of psi. It flies toward Katsuya, who’s about to make a shield.

You take a step forward, and your psi reaches the shot. Your psi binds onto hers, and the light vanishes instantly.

“Sorry, but you’re up against me,” you say.

Fujisaki says nothing and only gives you a hard stare. Taking a long look at the other two running into the hospital, it takes her a moment to realize there’s nothing she can do as long as you’re here. It was at that point she declares you a nuisance, and turns her full attention to you.

She says, “Very well. I’ll make this quick.” Tilting her sword backwards, she cuts into the air in various angles. One, two, no, three slashes that come down in different directions, curving along their paths slightly. As you slowly approach her, the attacks disappear around three arm-spans away. Fujisaki mumbles, “The field is oriented in a sphere, and its range is...”

“Tch,” you say, “You’re one of those people.”

Twirling her weapon around, she stares daggers at you. Her brow furrows, and she attacks. Her shot slices through the air.

You say, “It’ll never reach me—” It explodes, right before it hits the edge of your barrier. An intense ripple that blows apart the space where it self-destructed. It takes you a second to realize what she had done. The shockwave from the psi pushes your field backwards, temporarily denting the shape of it. You psi scrambles to reform the sphere. “Fuck me.”

“That was easy,” she says.

She prepares for another attack.

Now that i think about it Sorai doesn't really have a win condition. His main thing seems to be to cancel your attacks and stall or cancel your attacks so that he can beat you down. But i don't think we can beat her so I can think of three options:
1. Stall as long as possible and hope she doesn't rush at us

2. Disarm her so we have a better chance of beating her

3. Be creative and get something else to beat her like luring her into the street so she gets hit by a car

Great discussion.

The weird thing about Sorai's null field is that it doesn't disintegrate other people's psi, but lock onto them. This means that when it's dense enough, the "dead" particles could act as a buffer so that Sorai can't reach past it. As a result, arts that affect the body internally can't be stopped using his null field, such as transformative effects. They can also still strengthen or solidify parts of their body kind of like an internal psi barrier, which is that Kaori uses when she punches Really Big Things. It also means that Katsuya can't psi blast, since his particles actively push against his targets. He gets wrecked by Sorai 1v1 every time. Every. Time.
>>
You don’t want to brag, but you can handle yourself in a fight, especially when people get caught off guard when they realize they can’t use their arts. The problem is that she has a weapon, and you don’t. She’s also the Captain of her sword swinging whatever club, which means she can probably hand your ass back to you in a fight.

So it’s simple. You just have to disarm her.

Yup, very simple.

You run for cover. She’s attacking in bursts of three. The first to dent your field, the second to completely clear a way, and the third for the blow. Right as the second shot explodes, the third one follows right after, sinking into the side of the car with a loud bang.

“What’s your problem?!” you say. Someone’s going to have to pay for those damages. You don’t need to win, but for some reason, the idea of just playing the fool to stall for time is one that ticks you off.

“I think I’m allowed to have some fun, don’t you think?” she replies, as if it was completely natural.

You leap out from behind the car to try and make it to a tree that’s closer to her. One explosion follows another, and the third one shakes the almost all of the leaves off of the tree. On cue, you jump and make a beeline for her, seeing as that’s the closest you would ever get.

“Oh?” she says, putting one feet back as she enters a stance, pointing her sword in the air. You take a step into her range, and she swings down.

Her wooden sword smashes into a thick layer of your psi on your arm. A trick you taught Kaori so she would stop breaking every bone in her body every time she used her art.

Fujisaki’s blows come down from every direction, but you parry each and every one of them with equal measure and precision. Her attacks are fast, but could match them just barely. A thrust slides off of your hand and almost hits your chest. It was when you realized she hadn’t moved back a bit that you realized she wasn’t trying that hard.

Falling back a few steps to reconsider your plan, you say, “You like to meddle, huh?”

“Student Council work is terribly boring,” she replies. She winds her body back, and fills her sword with her psi. Your null field locks onto it, but it looks like she doesn’t care at all. She says, “If you saw something interesting, wouldn’t you like to play with it?”

You just shake your head.

It looks like she’s going to do some kind of attack.

It’s a little frustrating. The way she looks at you as if you were just a distraction. Well, you are a distraction, but aren’t only that.

What are you going to do, lie down and take it? Of course not; you’re going in!

She swings, and at that point, you realized you might have made a huge mistake.

It’s a raw burst of psi that pours out of her vessel. Nothing like an art, but like a flood. An intense burst of energy. It flows out of her endlessly, as if she was exsanguinating violently. Your psi binds onto it, but it’s nowhere near enough. You start to pour more of your psi out, but it’s too late. She’s forced a pocket out into the space, a small bubble where your null field no longer exists. Practically a suicide tactic.

When you see the smile that has appeared on her face, you realize—this is a girl that likes to beat you at your own game.

You feel the scorching heat as her psi dissipates into the air. Neither of you are coming out of this unscathed.

She twists her vessel, launching a point-blank blow at you. You snarl.

If you’re going to do something, you’re going to do it all the way!

You strike right at her sword in the middle of her swing.

“How’s this?!” you shout.

She looks at you, surprised. She shouldn’t be. She should know you’re an idiot, and you damn fine with it.

You forcibly move your psi into your arm, using your own hand as a vessel. There’s a blindly bright flash of light before your body can no longer handle the pressure, and both of you are sent flying back. Crashing onto the ground in a roll, you cover your face from the rain of splinters from the broken sword.

You try to get up, but you just fall back onto the ground. This is bad. The sudden drop in your psi is making you unable to even stand up. Lifting your numb arm, you’re incredibly relieved to see that although your hand is still intact, although terrible ugly. You cling to the hope that the school nurse can still undo the damage.

Suddenly, without warning, you’re hoisted over someone’s shoulder.

“H-hey! The hell you doing?” you say. “Why are you lifting me up?!”

Fujisaki replies, “Fool, now neither of us can fight. Are you happy?”

“I don’t know how to feel about a girl carrying me.”

She starts to tip you over, and you feel yourself slowly sliding off. “I can drop you if you want.”

“No, no! I’m good, I’m good,” you say.

You quickly shut your mouth before she thinks otherwise.

Yami's turn?
>>

You are the Empress of the vastly infinite darkness and all the dragons that dwell inside of it. You are Yamikigo Kyougetsu!

Two security guard is blocking off the stairs. One is talking to Katsuya, while the other is looking away.

Katsuya says, “My sister’s upstairs!” You remember that expression. He’s been wearing it the entire time. It was one you missed so much, but now that it’s back, you feel so worried.

The guard replies, “I can’t let you up there. There are stone people up there, and it doesn’t look like they’re bothering anyone as long as they stay away.”

“Listen, I’m a psion! I can do something. There are other people up there too!”

“Sorry, but just wait for police, okay?”

You look at Katsuya, who looks frighteningly mad. He’s trying to not show it, but you can see it on his face.

You weren’t sure what happened during that call, but it looks like it’s something important.

You should do something.

You stand before the two. Puffing out your chest, you proclaim, “I, the Dark Dragon Empress, command the two of you to allow for our unobstructed passage!”

The one talking to Katsuya looks at you. “...Huh? Can you just sit down?”

Gasping, you say, “Are you telling the Empress to sit down? I will not tolerate such insolence! I’ll have you know, the day that you fail to respect my authority is the day you will know what it means to be dragon food!”

As you say that, neither of the two guards who were standing on each end of the stairway budge a bit.

“...”

“...”

The silence that fills the air seem to last for eternity.

Katsuya turns to you and says, “Yami—”

“Your time is up!” you say, “You will regret making me your enemy!” You grab Katsuya’s arm, and with that, you take a deep breath.

The two of you trail into black smoke as you rise into the air.

The security guards stagger back. “What are you doing?!”

“What is this?!”

You ignore, them, swimming and swirling through the air. The trail of smoke spins and turns as it reaches up onto the floor that Katsuya meant to go to. When you drop him off, you see that there are a ridiculous number of golems in such a small space. Two stand guard by a room, while three fill the space across the length of the hall.

There’s shouting in Haruko’s room. When you look at Katsuya, you see his eyes are wide and his hair’s a mess.

“Hohoho, what’s this?!” you say, as loud as possible. You spit out your shroud of darkness as high and large as possible. One by one, they all turn to face you, and they begin walking your way.

Grabbing Katsuya by an arm, you throw him forward in the perfect opportunity. He yelps into surprise before he becomes smoke once again before rematerializing after passing all of the golems.

You... you never meant to attract this much attention.

You hate it when people stare your way when you try to act brave, so you grew out your hair so they’d see less.

Never before would you have thought it would come in handy. As Katsuya bursts through the door he was so determined to go through, you stand before five lurching monsters, all walking your way.

You can’t just stand there.

You scan around. They didn’t seem like they bothered with opening the doors at all so maybe...?

You go to the room that was closest to you and throw open the door. When you turn around after closing, you are met with a golem.

A yelp of surprise starts to form at your throat, but something else beats you to it. “Help me!”

A child is behind the golem, on her bed. Putting you brain to work, you realize that this one was acting like a guard for this patient.

Quickly, you peek out the door behind you, only to see that the golems from before have now formed a semicircle around the door, patiently waiting for you to leave.

And when you look back, you find that the guardian golem has now start to move toward you, reaching out as if it wanted to grab you despite it having no hands.

Taking a deep breath, you use your art again. Weaving between the legs of the creature, you end on the other side, gasping for breath.

You grab the girl’s arm, and you start to talk. For a moment, you thought saying something stupid again, but you forget it when you see that this isn’t the time or place for it. Instead, you simply say, “Take a deep breath, and hold it in.”

You offer a smile, and as weak as it was, the girl nods and opens her mouth to fill her lungs in an exaggerated motion.

The stone body of the golem suddenly starts moving with vigor, as if you had snapped it out of a stupor.

The two of you become a swirling shade.

You... stop.

You don’t know why, but you stop, afraid to move even the tiniest distance.

No, maybe you do know why. It was guarding her, and if you don’t provoke them, they wouldn’t hurt her.

Yes, you tell yourself that as reform, and fall back onto the ground.

The girl confused as to what just happened, but instead, you just apologize to her as you kneel down and tell her to get on your back. It’s a bit embarrassing, but it’ll have to do.

You take a step to the side, and the golem moves to block you. When you take a step forward, it doesn’t budge.

A long second passes before you try to evade it. Stepping with one foot, you shift all of your weight onto it, giving the illusion that you were heading in that direction. The creature moves accordingly, but you push off, slipping by where it had stood previously. Bolting to the door, you open it to find...

The five from before standing there, forming a wall. They don’t seem to try and hurt you or the girl, but they don’t do anything either.

When you look back, you find that you’ve effectively been trapped.

With a sigh, you say, “Looks like we might be here for a while. What’s your name?”

She mumbles, “Reimi Dou. Are we going to be alright?” You’re not sure how to reply to that. “Why can’t you use your magic thing?”

You reply, “I... have a bad feeling.”

You are Katsuya Nekoyo.

You’re not sure what to expect when you stepped into the room.

What have you been chasing the entire time? What were you hoping to see when you opened the door? What were you imagining when you made that call?

The first thing you saw you President Minezaki.

On her face was an expression of complete surprise, and then contempt. For a fraction of a second, you could’ve sworn her eyes flared as she thought to use her art.

The second thing was Haru.

She was sprawled on the floor, unconscious and in a hospital gown.

And beside her, was a man that stood a foot higher than you, his wrinkled face almost covered with white hair. His beard draped down to his chest, just barely reaching the sash of his kimono.

Two people stand by his side, much younger than him and around your age. All three turned their attentions to you as the door shut behind you.

The bearded man spoke. “What’s this?”

President Minezaki mutters, “Why are you here? How did you get here?”

“What happened to our agreement of no interrupts?” He waved a hand, and one of his retainers stepped forward.

His blade glistened as it slide out of its sheath, and he ran toward you.

Minezaki hisses, “Get back!”

Her eyes flash, but all you saw was a flash of light. The barrier that was splitting the room in half brightly shone, as if her psi splashed all over it.

The retainer jumps at you.

You raise a barrier just as he approaches, and your psi sparks as he strikes against it. He steps to the side, and sweeps in. Pushing the hilt of the dagger with his other hand, he tries to pierce through. Instead, you expel your psi, pushing him away. Seeing this, he takes a step back.

You have so many questions, so many things to ask, but all you can say is, “Could we not have a fight in the same room as my hospitalized sister?!”

The old man raises his eyebrows. “Oh, this is your sister? Are you possibly the same as her?” he says, “Gifted.” Seeing this, the retainer then retreats back to his side.

You were about to open your mouth, but then Minezaki interrupts. “He’s not. Leave him alone.”

“Are you sure? Bloodlines carry power down with them,” he muses.

“What’s going on?!” you say, “What the hell are you doing with her?”

“A fee,” he replies, “Oh, it seems I have yet to introduce myself. I am Jiro Fuyaku. I’m personally here to oversee this small business exchange.”

“The fuck do you mean business exchange?!” you say.

Minezaki motions to you. “This is Katsuya Nekoyo. The little brother of Haruko Nekoyo.”

“He has quite the energy,” he chuckles. Then, he says to you, “Your friend besides you has marred my daughter. A blight on her psi. Normally, I would have simply torn this city to pieces, but I was offered a good deal.”

“Minezaki...” you say, turning to her. “You’re behind this? Why was the council trying to stop me from getting here?” She says nothing. With a pained look, she bites her lip as she turns away from you, refusing to face you. “What’s this ‘fee’ he’s trying to collect?”

“As I’ve said, my daughter’s psi signature has been ruined by her. It was so beautiful, so perfect. She was the true successor to the Fuyaku clan, and when she had come back from her little adventure... Imagine my surprise when I found out what had happened to her.”

“Your... daughter?” you say. Those robes. You’ve seen them before. They were like the two retainers from before. And the only “Fuyaku” you’ve known and heard about is... “...Itsumo?”

“Do you know her? All of you are surprisingly close.” As you’re about to argue, he continues, “Yes, that is her. Such a scar on her. How can I ever forgive such a thing? Minezaki, like the responsible girl she is, owed up to her mistakes and offered to pay the cost for such a deed.”

You let your psi pour forth. Carefully, ever so precisely, you psi wraps around vase pieces, encasing it and pushing the pieces back into place as you solidify the barrier. Your hand touches hers, and there’s...

He says, “Go on, tell him your power.”

Minezaki grimaces. “I can... forcibly shape signatures. I would never ruin your powers!”

She can... do what?

Unease.

Your memories.

Mud.

Your personality.

Blackness.

Your very self.

You feel it. The frequency of her psi, the bumps and dents, the distortion that ripples through every time she takes a breath. The mistakes, the scars, the parts that remain untouched. The differences that dictate what you can and can’t do. One of a kind, like a fingerprint, and hidden away for no one to see but for yourself.

“What...?” you say, “Wait... no, what’s with those golems!?”

He laughs, “Oh, I thought I would let out a bit of stress. Don’t worry, they won’t attack unless provoked.”

Minezaki says, “That wasn’t part of the agreement.”

“Oh? I wasn’t aware that you had any say in all of this,” he replies.

“And the fee was... my sister?” you say.

“You see, we have these stones. You might recall some of them from the golems, acting as power sources. They’re amplifiers, and they’re quite good at their job. When I heard that there was a living, breathing person that could do what the stones could, I was ecstatic! I believe it’s a fair enough fee, don’t you?”

“You...”

Fuyaku cuts you off. “That’ll be all the fun I’m having today. Age takes on the toll on the body. I’ll take my leave then, youngsters.” He takes a single step forward, and the retainer on his right picks up Haru, while the other one advances to make you move.

Minezaki says, “No, wait! We aren’t done here!”

“There’s another one who has the same abilities as this one in the other room, correct?” he says, “I recall it was somewhere down this hall...”

You stand in front of the door. “I’m not letting you leave with her.”

“It wasn’t a request, boy.” Fuyaku raises his hand and snaps his fingers. The floor shakes, and then a golem bursts through. You stagger back, but then you freeze when you hear iron scream. Turning around, you see another stone giant had ripped out the door and is standing in front of the doorway.

Minezaki grabs your arm and pulls you to the side, whisper, “Don’t throw away your life.” You grit your teeth and bear it.

As if there was nothing that could stop the three walk out the door, not even sparing a glance at you. Only when Fuyaku passed, he says, “Quite an interesting city. Things have changed. Perhaps I’ll pay you all a visit sometime.” Then, he says to the retainer who wasn’t carrying Haru, “Fetch the chariot.”

When you try to chase after him, the golems block the way. For a moment, your heart sinks.

Minezaki says, “Why did you come?! I was stalling for time! We needed to destroy his only way out of here!”

“Is that why...?”

“Of course that’s why the Council tried to stop you!” she says, tugging at her hair. “You idiot! Please, I hope it isn’t too late.”

Why didn’t you do something back then?

All you could do was make mistakes.

It's not Katsuya's fault that the only information he had to work with was "my sister is in danger". You'd think after the twentieth time Katsuya hospitalized himself they'd maybe consider that he might show up when their plans directly involve his older sister, and that they might consider something other than "stop him by beating him and his friends up in a fight". I've been joking about how Minezaki is evil, but I actually hate how the student council just jerks people around, acts high and mighty, and never even tries to be on the level (other than Rin who's a saint). At least Katsuya shows regret and humility to the people who he's wronged when he makes retarded decisions.

“Don’t you give up now!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cArNMUNnnU0

Space tears at its seams, and out jumps out Rin and... Kururi? You didn’t recognize her for a second. She raises her pendant, and all of a sudden, the golem that was blocking your way disintegrates.

Rin says, “Where did they go?”

Minezaki says as she runs over, “They’re already left!”

He cusses. “Minezaki, you’ll go with Kururi.” Then, he says to you, “Stop standing there! It’s not over yet!” As Kururi and Minezaki rush to each other, Rin opens his hand out, gesturing for you to grab it.

It’s... not over?

It’s not over?

No, it’s not over, you won’t let it!

You reach out and grab his hand, and in a single motion, he uses his art. Space collapses, and you find yourself outside on the rooftops, greeted the by sunset.

You can only admire it for a second before you see what you were looking for. The street ruptures, and slowly, something rises out of the asphalt. Blue and gold, the giant chariot is led by stunningly detailed golem horses. You spot them, and Rin opens a gate right underneath. Running through it, you flinch as the vehicle takes flight. Ever so slowly, it begins to lift off the ground. When you take a step forward, more stone creatures rise out to stop you.

You say, “They’re going to get away!”

Rin shakes his head. “No, they’re not.”

The sky changes from orange to blue as a shining beacon rises from the rooftop of the hospital.

You mumble, “Kururi...?”

There’s a shockwave of wind and psi, the golems in front of you start crumbling. Past them, you see it. Those that were pulling the chariot fall too, and even when they’re almost in the sky, it begins to crash down. There’s a cyan shimmer as they make a barrier to brace the fall.

And it crashes down. A cloud of dirt, dust, and smoke is kicked up on impact.

You run at them, only for a retainer to jump out at you. He’s too fast, and he was too sudden! The sky that reflects off of the knife grows closer, and just when it was about to hit you through your barrier, Rin’s charged vessel slams right onto it. The retainer is sent backwards, and Rin chases after him, only glancing at you.

You run forward, until you see the last retainer and Fuyaku. The latter raises his hand while snarling, and the former leaps at you.

The retainer steps in front. His psi messily moves into action, and along with the expression on his face, it gives you a nice telltale sign of someone’s who’s about to do something they’re going to regret.

Synthesis:
[50]
Psi Barrier + Psi Blast = Reactive Shield

You psi suddenly links together, each particle locking on to the next until a wall is between you and him. His knife glows as he turns it into a vessel, and he cuts through your barrier... just kidding! His knife explodes on contact with your shield, sending him crashing against a shop wall.
Fuyaku says, “What do you think you’re doing?!” The sky becomes orange again, something that the two of you noticed. Kururi must have run out of psi. He says, “Rise, earth!”

On his command, gemstones break free, rising higher than ever before.

Synthesis:
[92]
Sunstrike + Perfect Pitch = White Rain

It’s almost funny. For some reason, history has a way of repeating itself, for the worse, or the better.

You raise your hand, and your psi lights up.

The single spear that was your sunstrike splits into countless needles in the air, crashing into the wall of stone that was made.

Are you just unlucky?

Fuyaku laughs as more golems rise, replacing the ones that fell. They seem countless, like this fight would never end.
What is luck, if not circumstance?

You take a deep breath.

[16———

You make your own luck.

[95]

Your psi flares as you focus it all onto your feet, externalizing them, using them as a vessel. Then, you psi blast yourself.

You fly into the air, above the rocks, above the retainer, and above Haru.

You’ve never been so high before. For a moment you think... you could touch the stars.

Your hand slams into Fuyaku’s face, carrying your momentum onto him as you bury his face into the wreckage of the chariot, the wood crumbling behind him.

You scream, with all the lungs in the air so that even the gods above can hear you.

Psi Blast.

Summer.

New season means new uniforms.

Tugging at his collar, a boy named Katsuya Nekoyo wished that the wind blew a little stronger, or that the sun shone little less intensely. Stopping at a familiar intersection, he looks at his left, then his right, before crossing.

A pat on the back almost makes him jump, and as he’s about to make a frown, he saw a cheery girl run in front of him.

“Good morning!” Yuu Saki says, giving him a quick wave before she runs ahead.

He thought, was it just him or did she seem happier than before?

Making his way to the front gate he found that someone was waiting for him. Or rather, multiple people.

“We’re so sorry!” Hitomi Minezaki said along with Rin Ichigawa.

It was policy to keep all things internal, so that no panic would arise in the general public. They wanted to keep things controlled, but after this incident they realized...

“Katsuya!” Rin says, “Join the Discplinary Committee!”

Katsuya blinks once. And then second time. “...Ehn?!”

Kururi Kururu and Sorai Sotora stood behind Rin, offering only their smiles. They show off their official Student Council arm bands to him, and Katsuya could only groan.

And as he walked to class, he was surprised one more time. A girl hooked her arms around one of Katsuya.

“Katsuya, good morning!”

He could only mumble a weak reply before Kaori Etou left for her classroom. He wondered, did something happen? He thought that something felt empty, before he waving away the thought before it came back to haunt him.

Rori Shiba and Hitsujikaze Yukikata, seeing all of this, could only help but roll their eyes as they passed.

And as he stepped into his classroom, the first thing he saw was a familiar face who was waiting for him. She puffed up her chest, and out came the words—

“You’ve finally returned to this domain, you deviant!”

There was once a fragile girl.

She was so weak that even her voice seemed like it would fail at any time.

Even with her body, she couldn’t miss the local magic show.

She watched, sitting in the crowd, as the boy danced around his opponents.

With every attack that his foes used, he would return them in kind.

He wasn’t strong like the others. She saw the bandages wrapped around his arms.

Yet, the face he had as he wove his magic...

She watched as the boy shouted the names of his moves and laughed as he made taunts.

That expression was unmistakable, and his will was contagious.

For a moment, she felt that she, too, could be down there, that she could shine as brightly.

When she went home that day, she had made a promise to herself—a promise to never give up.

If there was a person who could make her feel such a way, then she will reach for it.

So, she puffed up her chest, and when she spoke, put placed pride in herself the only way she knew how.

Like he did.

I'm so sad to see my favorite quest end. I loved prettt much everything about it from the characters to the music. The only problem I have is that there was a lot more you could've done. This ending was great but I see a lot of missed potential. The whole Rori and Kaisuke story line came and was dropped so quickly, we never got to see the natural progression of sakis story arc, we didn't get to see what Mita would make us do with that favor and it saddens me because this is such a great ending I can't imagine anything after other than omakes

Leviathan is displeased.

I'll also be posting fun facts! Okay, the "fun" part might be subjective.

I'll be spoilering the most brutal ones of them in case you don't want your perception of this quest to be absolutely destroyed.

First of all Crap, I started the thread off by saying It's a peaceful morning in Nishishio, despite the location actually being Kitakaze. No one noticed!

The continent that this quest takes place in split into four distinct city-states:
North: 北風 Kitakaze ; North Winds
West: 西潮 Nishishio ; West Tides
South: 南山 Minamiyama ; Southern Mountains
East: 東火 Higashihono ; Eastern Flames
I forgot rendaku was a thing when I named them.

You might have noticed that the year is 107. That's because it's been approximately 107 years since the first shard of the stars struck the earth, giving birth to the existence of psi! It also completely wiped out most of life, which is also fun. Very fun. Does this lore have anything to do with the quest? No, not really.

>>2264597
This is a godless land! Well, that's wrong.

When the star shards fell, they did not fall equally. The first one struck the center of the continent and caused irreparable damage, while those that fell later came like rain. They dotted Nishishio like rain, and where each piece fell, a shrine was constructed. Hence, the shrine gods. While it's typically believed that the stars are gods themselves, the new age of industrialization and documentation of the psionic arts allowed for more secular ideas. The permeance of the shrine gods was only because of the structures that were constructed and maintained with much care and love. You can bet they were thankful their homes weren’t completely destroyed by meteors!

Someone had cast a Rank 5 Illusion on them.

You might be wondering, wow, how did you draw that OP picture so fast? The answer is I drew it a year ago. And it looked like this.

You may notice some... differences. After all, it is more of a concept pic.

Like how one character was completely replaced. While Chiwa Fujisaki was never a “main character” to say, Kaori Etou was... completely made up on the spot. I’m sorry, Kaori fans. If it’s any consolation, I liked her a lot too. This reason is also why her pictures in the first thread were so terrible.

Speaking of Chiwa Fujisaki, her name is written like so: 冨士 千割
千割 means a thousand cuts, so that’s fun!

>2264611
Interesting. It sounds like a permutation of Shintoism based on a different origin, so that’s pretty neat. As far as unanswered questions, I have a much simpler one: when/why did Kaori begin to treat Katsuya as a brother instead of a friend? I’m impressed you made her up on the spot. It doesn’t especially offend me either, as a fan of her. Everything has to be made up one time or another, so even if it was spontaneous I enjoyed her character anyway.

>Top 10
There aren't even that many main characters! I'll give you my favorite three, in no particular order: Yamikigo, Kaori, and Mita.

Here are all the character designs. Originally, the plan for this quest was to have the MC be “drafted” into the Student Council one way or another, and then I could use that was a point to launch MC and his friends into all sorts of things. It didn’t work, because I had to introduce a whole lot of characters and force a lot of the decisions in the start of the quest. It would’ve just been a complete mess. Fujisaki, Minezaki, Rori, and Yukikata would have all been part of it. You can tell what I did with those characters after I scrapped that idea.

Haruko also used to be younger than Katsuya! I instantly threw out that idea after I realized I ran OSQ. It was going to be a trainwreck, and I knew it.
>>

The last thing I’ll put up for today:
The second idea was to have Yamikigo be the MC, in an attempt to “subvert” the battle academy genre and have her win against all the other girls. She would’ve had Kururi has her close confidant, and it would’ve been different. A lot different. I’m also pretty sure it would’ve been a disaster too. Pic related would have been the OP.

So there you have it! Yamikigo was actually the deuteragonist the entire time. It’s a funny coincidence how it worked out in the end.

1. Kaori - Great design and personality. Love me some cute imouto's

2. Yami - Same as Kaori but to a slightly less extent. Cute chuni what more can I say.

3. Mita - Cutest pervert

4. Levi - I was the anon who 1st suggested him so he holds a special spot in my heart

5. Kats - Fun tsukiomi protag with a fun power. Best jobber

6. Itsumo - Didn't really get to see her a lot but she has the best design by far

7. Rori - A very cute senpai and her interactions with kats were always fun

8. Sorai - He's a character who has both a plain design and that we unfortunately didn't get to see but what we did see I liked

9. Yuki - Before recently I didn't even really care about her but after seeing more of her and seeing her amazing hair color she was bumped up a bit

10. Usagi/Kaori - I couldn't decide which I liked more they are both on the same tier for me. I liked them but i liked the others more.

>>2264653
That’s pretty funny. I’d say the traditional battle academy concept was already pretty subverted given that the competition to have a wish granted and the contention over who to partner up with were ultimately less important than other aspects of the plot. Even so, that’s pretty intriguing that the MC was originally going to be another character. I never would’ve guessed. My chief complaint would have to be all the characters were so charming that spending time with one over another always seemed like a tragedy. Sasuga Hopeless

I can't say enough how much I absolutely loved this quest and just how charming you made all of the characters! I'm sad to see it go, but I'm glad we got to reach a happy ending. It was particularly cathartic to see Katsuya overcome that final bad roll and deck the final boss in the face!

As for questions, I've got quite a few:
1. Were there any subplots you wish you could have gotten to or finished?
2. Were there any moments where we players sent your plans careening off the rails?
3. Are there any character themes that we didn't get to hear?
4. What dice gods did Katsuya to get such consistently bad rolls? Did the losses and setbacks they caused help to shape how you wrote him?
5. What were some of the other student's wishes if they won? We know Nekoyo wanted to be a shrinegod, which is pretty cool now that we know that basically means he wanted to be a shooting star.

>>2264756
>What would you say your biggest lesson has been from the quest?
Focus and succinctness. I started this quest going, “Wow, I’m so amazing, look at me weave all these plot threads together!” to “I want to die.”
At point, I wanted to finish the tournament arc and Kururi’s “subplot” as fast as possible since they were both dragging out onto many threads with no end in sight. Stay focused, and be succinct.
Speaking of the tournament arc, that was easily the biggest mistake in the entirety of the quest. If you ever plan on having one of those, this is exactly how you don’t do it. It was low stakes, wasn’t internal so Katsuya was up against literal whos, and amounted for little when you look at how long it took to complete.

>>2264813
>How did the _incident_ with Kaori end?
>Who and what was >>2261576 about?

>>2261576 was about the incident and how it ended with Kaori. I thought about how to write it and had scrapped three different versions before this across the past few months. I had an issue with tone, and I wanted to make it gorey and dark than the situation was in reality.

The solution I came up with in the of the middle of the night was to do it the Japanese artsy way—by making it the most flowery, evasive, and allusive thing possible. I’ll leave it to you to solve this one last mystery. Hint: It has to do with Katsuya using an art.

>>2264898

>Were there any subplots you wish you could have gotten to or finished?
There was one subplot with Sorai that goes more into detail as to what type of person he was. He would’ve had epiphany like all the other “main characters”, except since no one wanted to talk to him instead of all of the other characters that were not men. Whoops.

>Were there any moments where we players sent your plans careening off the rails?
When you guys didn’t choose to fight Hitsujikaze. Seriously, I didn’t plan for it at all. I have no idea why. At that point I stopped using hard outlines and started just doing things much more loosely.

>Are there any character themes that we didn't get to hear?
Sorai was about “even when you don’t have to give it your best, you should at least try,” or something like that. He’s someone who’s been shunned for notoriously being a spoilsport with his art. As a sort of defense mechanism, he often goes on not caring, or at least pretending to not care. That way, he wouldn’t be hurt when the time comes.

>What dice gods did Katsuya to get such consistently bad rolls? Did the losses and setbacks they caused help to shape how you wrote him?
Every dice god, ever. And as for the second question, definitely! Katsuya, unlike the other characters, was a theme that was mostly molded by you guys.
>>
>What were some of the other student's wishes if they won?
Oh boy.
Kururi: She had no wish. She found a place she could call home in Kitakaze, which was all she ever wanted. I wanted her to say this flatly after her flashback from Thread 9, but I forgot.

Usagi: Money. She’ll never have to worry about her problems again! Pretty frivolous, but she was never serious about it.

Yamikigo: She would think about it after she won. After all, if she was strong enough to win the Nagareboshi, then she would’ve reached her dream already.

Rori: She already had a dream job. She doesn’t care about it at all!

Yukikata: She has Rori. She also doesn’t care about it at all!

Kaori: Her art would never allow her to win, so she has given up completely. If she did win, she would wish for her, Katsuya, Sorai, and Haruko to be happy forever.

Sorai: Because of the reasons mentioned before, he also has no interest in the Nagareboshi, or magical wishes that achieve things that he could never do himself. But if he did have a wish, it’d be for money.

Katsuya: Actually, one major reason he wants to be a shrine god is to obtain it’s all encompassing powers. Using his newfound magic, he would be able to do the only thing he really wanted this whole time: to allow Haruko to live a normal life.

For those who don’t know, “Nagareboshi” means shooting star.

It is a shame that Sorai didn't get much screen time, but I feel the parts he had in this final thread were really great and I'm happy we got to play as him a little.

Here are a few more questions I thought up!
1. We got to see a lot of interesting arts and powers over the course of the quest, what were some of your favorites?
2. If you were to the put the characters on a scale, or give them powerlevels, how would they compare to eachother?
3. Did you ever have a hard time coming up with different powers, or figuring out how some of the characters fought? I really enjoyed Rin's fight with Kururi in this thread, since I thought it was a super creative concept that he could teleport his sword and use it to hit pressure points.

Okay, probably the last thing left:

>What happened with Yamikigo and Reimi?
Remember when Jiro Fuyaku snapped his fingers and one golem appeared behind Katsuya? That one was from the semi-circle. Yamikigo literally just walked around and down the stairs to safety.

>What kind of name is Reimi?
Because Do(u) Re(i) Mi (Fa So)

>Why didn’t the Student Council include Katsuya in their plan?
Because Katsuya is a rash idiot when it came to Haruko. The proof is this entire thread. If they were to include him, Katsuya would have probably gotten a little too agitated for his own good whenever Fuyaku did something to his sister, and Fuyaku would’ve bailed before the plan was completed. Therefore, their only option was to keep him out of it. There were two problems. The first was the golems. They had no idea the scale would be this big, which caused a ridiculous amount of delays. The second was the phone call. Only by pure luck Katsuya made that call at that time. Any sooner or later and it would’ve been a complete miss.

Also, everything would have crashed and burned without Kururi.

Actually I've been thinking and I've got a couple more questions related to music so I would like to request a picture of Rori and Yuki going to karaoke as well

1. I just listened to Sorai's theme and it was great but I don't get why you chose that song for him. How do you choose a characters theme

2. How do you find your music a lot of this stuff seems really obscure and like it's be hard to just find

3. You said you listen to music and that affects your mood right is there any song that took the thread in a completely different direction then you thought
>>
>>2265834
I agree with that Sorai thing 100% we finally got to see him be cool for once and even the secretary had a cool moment at the end when she was a good sport and carried sorai
>>

>We got to see a lot of interesting arts and powers over the course of the quest, what were some of your favorites?
Rin’s definitely up there. Saki’s is also really flexible. She can attract the ink off of one paper to another and leaving half behind, effectively making a duplicate! She can also make different parts of your body attract or repel each other. It can get nasty in a fight if she ever gets into range.

>Did you ever have a hard time coming up with different powers, or figuring out how some of the characters fought?
Going to answer this one before the other. Power levels are tough because when I was thinking of powers, the only thing I was sure of was that everyone had a way to cheat. If their opponents ever slipped up, they could be able to instantly grab the win. It was a bit rough sometimes, but for when thinking how characters would fight, I could only think: What’s the cheapest or most desperate move this person can make?

>If you were to the put the characters on a scale, or give them powerlevels,
how would they compare to each other?
Minezaki is obviously at the top. Her theme is “medusa”, and all she needs to do is look into your eyes for you to lose instantly. You might think, “then all you have to do is close your eyes!” Closing your eyes in a fight is probably not a good idea.

Ignoring the existence of Sorai, next would be the rest of the Student Council. The VP can also instantly end fights although slower, Fujisaki excels in close-range and far-range attacks, and Rin’s attacks are not only instant, but they can be done at any distance. They are ridiculous.

Everyone else is around the mid-range, except for Katsuya, who constantly grows until he can block even Minezaki’s art with a simple barrier.

At the bottom of the list is Yamikigo, who has literally no offensive capabilities. She’s also hilariously fragile.

Actually, this reminds me of a subplot I had planned. It was supposed to be about a student with telekinesis who could do Usagi can with her art, but better.

>>2265859
>How do you choose a characters theme
I pick them before the quest even started. They’re supposed to be songs that get me in a specific mood for when I needed to write a character. A source of inspiration I guess. In this context, Yukikata’s is my favorite.

>How do you find your music a lot of this stuff seems really obscure and like it's be hard to just find
Comiket and M3. Lots of doujin music.
The western “scene” pretty much became complete insular and even arguably dead, but we’ll see.

>Is there any song that took the thread in a completely different direction then you thought
Thread 7’s ending. Never forget.
I don’t remember what I was listening to, but it sure wasn’t Kaori’s theme.

That covers pretty much everything I thought to ask! Once again, thanks so much for running PAQ, it's been a real blast. Maybe there's some hope for you yet.
>>
>>2266007
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions. This has been a fun quest!

Why did you go with this mindset was it just to make things more interesting or was it something thematic. Also what we're some more obscure cheat methods like Kaisuke, Rue, ect? The student council is obvious and so is Kats but we choose to get the psi blast from the dream and the other 2 options were probably barrier and teleport so what would've done if we choose one of those.
>>
>>2265704
My guess is that “the incident” with Kaori refers to that flashback in which she and Katsuya were being held hostage by those thugs, one of whom had the ferrokinesis ability. It seemed like Kaori got badly injured by them, and then I got the impression Katsuya must have flown into a frenzy, fought them, and must have saved her.

>>2266079
Thanks for giving me questions to answer! It was a pleasure.

>>2266092
Kaisuke could separate the floor when it was something like concrete. so you could fall through it. Rue’s only a cheat in double matches. Imagine going against two Rins instead of one!

Big spoiler. The flashback wasn’t actually to decide on your power, but it served as exposition. You were always going to get Psi Blast. It’s his signature move. You would have just gotten different stories.

>>2266123
You're almost there!
>>
>>2266175
Do you still have any idea what you would've wrote if we choose the talent show I was really curious about that one or is it lost to the sands of time. Also please draw a pic of Kats as a kid doing a cool pose with a very impressed little Yami watching
>>
Could we maybe see Yuu roping some of the other girls wearing some of her outfits?

I have stocked up some more questions for you hopeless and you're gonna answer them or else... I'll cry. These are about Mita so draw me a pic of Kats and Mita playing video games together becuase I feel like they'd be total bros

1. What was her trump card?

2. Did she have a theme?

3. What is her pupil supposed to be?

4. What did she mean when she said we should've talked to the shrine grunts?

5. Why was she stalking Kats?
>>
>>2269563
Here we go

>>2271801
>What was her trump card?
Her trump card was to win the battle before it had even begun. Half of it is preparation, after all. If she needed to, she could use Laplace's Imp to predict her opponent's moves before he does them.

2. Did she have a theme?
Her theme was to be a creep in a closet. In all seriousness, nope, she didn't.

3. What is her pupil supposed to be?
it was supposed to be a glitchy silhouette of someone in front of a computer screen. It was too difficult so it turned into a glitchy horseshoe somehow.

4. What did she mean when she said we should've talked to the shrine grunts?
Because they kinda wanted the same thing as you, which is to get Itsumo and get her home. She left the details to you, of course. It's not her problem. Plus, it would be really weird if Itsumo went back by herself and left her retainers in Kitakaze.

5. Why was she stalking Kats?

Oh god, what are you doing? You don’t like fate. A student from Nishishio that doesn’t like fate, very funny, but how else are you supposed to take this? The damn shrine gods have given you this “talent,” and with all due respect, which is none by the way, what are you supposed to do with this? Not spy on people for money? It’s not a hobby, you swear!
From 4.5.
The reason involves Fujisaki and money. I've left some stuff about Fujisaki scattered all around these threads, but I've completely lost track of them by now.
