Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Let's fuck, rockers.

The woman standing above you-well, maybe woman isn't the best word, she looks about your age, but whatever. She's dressed in a red body-suit with an added red skirt over her hips. Stars seem to line the sides of her outfit, but at this angle, you can't see the whole thing. You do notice that her dark hair is pulled back in a ponytail, however, and that she seems to have blocked Katarou's blade with bracelets. That seems strange, but after the magic artifacts you've seen today, you're able to shrug that off pretty quickly.

"You have taken what doesn't belong to you," the girl tells Katarou with a controlled fury.

"Now that I've taken them, they do belong to me," Katarou counters, pushing against the girl, who seems to be getting slowly overpowered.

She kicks out, and Kataoru is pushed back, actually sliding off the sidewalk and most of the way across the street. That kick must have been strong, but just as with Cyborg and Starfire, it doesn't seem to have done any real damage.

"Are you alright?" the girl asks, turning and offering you a hand.

>>A. "No, but I'm alive, so thank you."

>>B. "Watch your back!"

"No," you answer, still not feeling good about the current situation. "But I'm alive, so thank you."

You take the girl's hand (she has a very strong grip), and are quickly pulled to your feet. That's when you look over her shoulder to see Katarou stalking over, gripping his sword tight as he breaks into a sprint, rushing right at the girl with her back turned to him.

"Watch your back!" you warn, hastily conjuring up a barrier behind the girl, with barely enough time to finish before Katarou stabs with his blade, quickly piercing through it.

The barrier did slow him down, however, and the girl turns, moving herself out of the way of Katarou's stab, grabbing hold of his arm, and in the same, fluid motion, swinging herself up and driving her knee into the side of the large, bald man's head. This time, he's knocked to the ground, the sword clattering onto the street as the impact knocks it from his grip.

Katarou reaches for it, but one of Robin's grappling hooks catches the sword's hilt and pulls it out of the man's reach, leaving him disarmed. Or, as far as you can tell. You aren't sure how much good that will do against somebody with super strength and flight, but you now can worry a lot less about being stabbed.

Cyborg, using his remaining hand, grabs Katarou by the ankle, swinging the larger man over his head before slamming the villainous fighter into the pavement.

"Boy, am I glad to see you," he says to the girl with a tone of familiarity.

Katarou slams his fist against the ground, creating shockwaves that knock Cyborg off-balance. Katarou is then easily able to free himself from Cyborg's grasp, and knocks your friend to the ground in the process.

The dark-haired girl rushes at him, actually lifting off the ground and charging through the air. She pulls one arm back, clenching her hand into a fist that you think she intends to send somewhere on the man's face. She doesn't get the chance, however, as Katarou backhands her and knocks her into the street. He can't pursue her, though, as Robin hits him behind the knees with birdarangs.

As the man falls, Cyborg gets back up, and punches him in the face, knocking him back the ground, where he finds himself bombarded by starbolts.

>>A. "So, who's the new girl?"

>>B. "Does anybody have any idea how to beat this guy? Because hitting him hard isn't working."

>>
Thanks. I've been trying to do this since last thread but now with two flying super strength ladies we should be able to pull it off. We can deal with a flying martial artist by comparison.
>>
>>2263417
>>2263422
Just hitting this guy is obviously not working, and even with three super-strong fighters giving their all, Katarou's power is overwhelming. If there's any chance to beat this guy, it's to take those artifacts away from him.

But, the last time you tried that didn't go so well. If not for the dark-haired mystery girl, you might be dead right now. Katarou is clearly expecting you and the others to try and take his gauntlet, at least, so he's ready to keep that from happening. The only way to create a chance to remove the gauntlet is to restrain him, and that's clearly not easy. Starfire and the new girl can't match his strength, and Cyborg (who couldn't compete anyway) is missing an arm. There's only one way you can think of that might let you restrain this guy.

You look at the new girl, then at Starfire, hoping that they can disarm Katarou, and do it quickly. If not, this situation is about to get a whole lot worse.

"I'll hold him!" you shout to the girls. "Just tear that gauntlet off his hand!"

The new girl looks at you in confusion, probably wanting to ask how you intend to restrain somebody with godlike strength, but Starfire moves right away, and Katarou asks the question for the new girl.

"You will hold me?" he asks with clear amusement. "You possess no great strength, and even if you did, my strength is that of a god! What could you possibly hope to do against a warrior such as I?"

Something you really wish you weren't going to do. You let anger take hold of you, dropping every mental block you've put in place to keep it from spreading through your mind. You think of Blood and all he's done, you think of Cyborg with his arm ripped off, Raven, knocked unconscious, and Beast Boy, his arm brutally broken. You think of the pain the man in front of you has inflicted on you and your friends, and you think of how powerless all of you have been to stop him.

You see red.

Fury overtakes you, and you direct it at a single target; Katarou. You will for him to stay still. No, more than that, you will for him to be crushed. You direct your furious thoughts at your opponent, picturing him being pressed upon by an unstoppable, brutal force.

The smirk comes right off of Katarou's face, and you see his body begin to react to your powers. But, it isn't fast enough. He's not hurting nearly as much as he should be. He's still standing, he's still fighting, he's still breathing. That is unacceptable. You will not let this bald jackass defy you in this way. He looks down on you? You'll make him regret that arrogance!

>Continued
>>
>>2263507
>Continued

Now, he's struggling, taking a monumental amount of effort to so much as step toward you. But still, he's coming closer! Why won't he give in?! And why aren't the girls attacking yet?!

A red light surrounds Katarou, and he cringes as his body attempts to curl up into as small a form as possible in the face of the pressure it faces. Yet, he still manages to advance, taking step after step after step.

>A. Let go of any measure of restraint you might be showing. He. Will. Stop.

>B. Keep doing what you're doing. The girls have a much better chance at taking that gauntlet now.

>C. Give up before the strain overwhelms you, or you lose control

>>

I know. But less dangerous than a flying martial artist with super strength or a grounded martial artist with super strength. Subsequently de-shoeing him will also be easier without that super strength.

Careful guys. The moment the gauntlet is stripped we don't want him crushed into a fine paste. Not to mention we don't want Brother Blood knocking.
>>
>>2263545
I know it's a risk, but so far playing it safe hasn't been helping us too much. Plus we got friends to help calm us down.
>>
>>2263554
We'll see what happens. Raven is currently down, mind you.

Blood?
>>
>>2263535
You are not going to let him beat you at this! You are strong! When you let your powers go, there's no way some punk like this can possibly outmatch you.

And so, you drop the last of your blocks, letting your rage flow completely unrestrained as it strikes against Katarou, who stops his approach, body shaking as he struggles to take another step. Your vision disappears in a white flash, combined with a horrific pain in your head that brings tears to your eyes.

As the moments pass, your vision does not return, but you do hear voices, your friends begging for you to stop, warning that you're going to kill Katarou.

That's one method alright.
>>
>>2263604
Regaining control is struggling against a powerful force. Focusing on a positive emotion is instead diverting it into a different force (and a harmless one, unless we end up making everything float). I hope people sign on, I want to see if it works.

>>2263601

Oh sorry I should clarify that I don't mean merely 'remember the emotion' but to do so as a means of entering that emotional state.
>>
>>2263622
Noted
>>
>>2263601
Okay, forcing yourself to calm down when it gets this bad hasn't worked before, but maybe you can try a different approach. Your emotion, and the power that goes along with it, are out in the open now, and pulling them back in will not be easy. But, if you can change the nature of that power, you can at least minimize the damage you cause.

Rage is destructive, happiness....well, so far it's let you fly. That seems like a marked improvement. So, you try to switch your mood, drawing on happy memories; playing video games with the guys, hitting the arcade with Beast Boy, sparring with Robin and Rose, working on the T-Car with Cyborg, meditating with Raven, and, one that honestly holds a special place in your heart; learning to fly with Starfire.

The joy of those memories seeps into your mind, morphing the anger into happiness, and causing the rage of your powers to die down, replaced by a joy that lifts you off the ground and sends you soaring.

From your place high in the sky, you can see the others down below, as well as Katarou, who looks to have been bound in a silvery rope by the new girl. Robin looks to be taking off the man's sandals, while Cyborg and Starfire pick up Raven and Beast Boy to bring back to the tower.

In your happy state, you have far more control, and so you're able to return to the ground, landing with the others.

"Nice work," Robin compliments once the last artifacts have been taken from Katarou. "It looks like you've come a really long way with controlling your powers. I didn't think you'd be able to come back on your own when you got that angry."

"Thanks," you respond. "Sorry for taking another risk."

Robin smiles gently. "There wasn't much of a choice this time. You took a chance, and it paid off. Hopefully you won't have to make a habit of it."

You nod, hoping that you don't have to let loose like that very often as well. Your head is still kind of throbbing, and you feel like you haven't slept in over a day. But, rest can come later, you have some questions.

"Are Beast Boy and Raven going to be okay?" you ask the others, feeling that happiness that overwhelmed you a minute ago slowly being replaced with worry.

"They'll be just fine," Robin assures you. "Beast Boy's arm will heal, and Raven....she's done this before, she'll wake up when she's ready."

Alright, that's a relief. But, that still leaves one more question.

"Who's the new girl?"

"Oh, right, you two haven't met," Robin remarks with amusement, apparently having forgotten that you only joined recently. "Kid Crimson, meet Wonder Girl."

"Actually, it's Troia now," the girl corrects, coming over and offering her hand to shake. "Now there's-"

"Aww, I missed the fun?" another girl's voice asks from behind you.

Turning around, you see a blond girl, one, maybe two years younger than you, and dressed in an outfit just like Troia's (minus the skirt), running toward your group.

"Cassie?" Troia asks, her voice a strange mix of surprise, and an annoyance that suggests she at least partly expected this. "What are you doing here?"

"Did you really think I was going to wait at home while you handled this?" the blond girl asks, slowing to a walk and looking at Troia with some kind of strange, almost sisterly irritation. "Those artifacts were my responsibility, and were stolen from my mom's museum."

Starfire gasps, flying over to the girl, floating around her with a look of adoration. "Oh, hello adorable friend Cassie! It is most wonderful to see you again!"

The girl frowns. "I'm not adorable, Starfire. It's good to see you, too."

"This is Cassie Sandsmark," Troia explains to you. "She's going to be taking my place as Wonder Girl."

"Really?" Robin asks in genuine surprise.

Troia nods. "She's been working hard, and the big wonder decided that it's time for me to go out and be something more than "Wonder Woman's sidekick". So, I'm passing the torch."

>>A. "Why don't you join our team?"

"Nice to meet you, Troia," you say, shaking the girl's hand before nodding toward the blond. "Cassie."

Troia smiles. "Nice to meet you, too."

Cassie shrugs. "Yeah, nice to meet you."

"So, your mom's museum has actual magic artifacts?" you ask, surprised that godly items of power like these would just be sitting in a museum somewhere.

Cassie smiles proudly, crossing her arms and giving you a nod. "Sure does."

"Her mom's an old friend of Wonder Woman," Troia explains to you. "I think they were actually at the same dig when she found the gauntlet."

"Small world, huh?" Cyborg jokes as he picks up his arm and begins to work on reattaching it.

"So, what do you plan on doing now that you aren't Wonder Girl anymore?" Robin asks Troia.

The dark-haired woman ponders that for a second. "Well, I'm still going to keep being a super hero. Just, not with Wonder Woman anymore."

She sounds kind of sad about that.

"Well, you'd be welcome with us," Robin suggests.

"Oh, yes, we would be most excited to have you as a member of our team!" Starfire declares.

"What do the rest of you think?" Robin asks, looking to you and Cyborg.

"BB and Rae can't really answer right now," Cyborg points out. "But, I don't think they'd say no."

Its been a while, but didn't some of the gods favor the Trojans? In fact, pretty sure Zeus was trying to keep Troy from falling because the king was a son of his or something like that.

Also, the historical amazons also fought the greeks at various times.
>>
>>2264027
Oh I do.
It's LITERALLY just her name with an "a" on the end. As an alias, that's worse than Clark's fucking glasses. Yes, I know Clark actually relies on a variety of postural and behavioral changes, similar to how Marilyn Monroe could just go out and not be recognized when she wanted by just carrying herself in a different way.
>>
>>2264050
Yeah, the Trojan War was basically a proxy conflict of the various gods according to the Illiad.
>>
>>2263989
"Sure," you answer. "I don't have a problem with that."

"Well then, if you guys will have me, I'd be honored to join your team," Troia tells what members of the team can actually hear her, bowing her head humbly. "Thank you."

"Alright then, let's get back to the tower and take care of BB and Rae," Cyborg tells everyone as he starts for the T-Car with Beast Boy slung over his shoulder.

Robin picks up Raven and carries her toward the car, leaving you, Starfire, Troia, and Cassie to do whatever you want.

Cassie's in the process of putting the sandals on her feet, and you can see the gauntlet already on her arm. It seems odd that Wonder Girl needs special items to fight, but you're sure she's qualified if Wonder Woman thinks she's good enough.

"Donna," Cassie says to Troia as she gets up. "Thanks."

Troia places a hand on Cassie's shoulder, smiling down at the slightly-smaller girl. "You're welcome. In the future, I'd say you should keep a closer eye on the gauntlet and sandals. You need them to fight properly, and now we know that scum like him are aware of them."

She gestures to Katarou, who's still bound up in that silvery rope.

"You carry artifacts blessed with the power of gods," Troia reminds her successor. "Such power is unbelievably dangerous if wielded by the wrong person, and the gods do not look kindly on losing such great gifts."

"I know, I know," Cassie grumbles, giving you the sense they have conversations like this pretty often.

"I know you know," Troia chuckles. "And I don't need to tell you how to act as Wonder Girl. You've got the spirit of a true amazon, and I know that Wonder Woman will be just fine with you watching her back."

The two girls hug, and Cassie says goodbye, taking off with the aid of her magic sandals, and flying into the distance.

Troia turns to you and Starfire, then looks at Katarou. "I assume law enforcement is on its way?"

"That's right," Robin answers, coming to address the group. "They'll be along any minute. Troia, you can take back your lasso. I've got some more disposable things here to keep him from going anywhere."

Both Troia and Starfire are perfectly willing to have a race back to Titans Tower, though they seem to be more interested in racing against each other than racing you.

"Think you can beat me this time?" Troia asks the Tamaranean.

Starfire smiles, getting into a racer's pose and waiting for some sort of indication that everyone can start toward the tower. You notice that she didn't answer Troia's question, and that the dark-haired girl has just revealed that they've raced one-another before. And, both of them obviously consider each other to be the real competition. That does not speak well for your chances, especially considering the fact that you're dead tired right now. Or, maybe your exhaustion is why they're so confident they can beat you. Who can say?

The answer should become clear in just a moment. You copy Starfire, taking the position of a runner waiting for the starting pistol. The sight of both you and Starfire taking this approach to start seems to prompt Troia to do the same. The three of you wait, none of you really knowing what for, but when Robin shouts "Go!" a few seconds later, you take that as a proper beginning to the race, and shoot into the sky, soaring toward the tower as fast as you can.

As it turns out, as fast as you can has nothing on your two opponents, who leave you eating...dust? Clouds? Whatever it is, you've got a mouthful now, and after just a few seconds, you lose sight of them completely. Well, this is embarrassing, especially since the race was your idea. Well, might as well finish anyway.

You keep pushing yourself to go as fast as possible, finding yourself growing more and more tired as the seconds pass. You've never pushed yourself to move this quickly before, even in peak condition. You're gonna need some serious sleep to shake this off.

Eventually, the tower comes into view, and you can just barely make out the silhouettes of Starfire and Troia standing on the roof, waiting for you to arrive.

Okay, you lost. Not much you can do about that now. But, that doesn't mean you can't still have the last laugh, here. You know a little trick that might just give Troia one heck of a surprise. Starfire probably won't react as much, but this should still be a lot of fun.

You keep flying toward the tower for just a little bit longer, until you're confident that you can teleport the rest of the way without serious repercussions. Then, you draw upon a sad memory, and focus on the spot behind the two girls, moving to it over the space of an instant.

"Where did he go?" Troia asks, raising a hand to her face, probably shielding her eyes from the sun to get a better look at the sky or something.

Yeah, this is going to work.

Clearing your throat gives both girls a jolt, but Starfire seems to understand what happened after that initial surprise, and looks amused when she turns toward you. Troia, on the other hand, spins around like she's getting ready to pulverize some attacked, only to drop that posture and look at you in surprise once she recognizes who you are.

"How did you do that?" she asks, looking over her shoulder to the sky. "If you could fly that fast, you...wait, you can teleport, can't you?"

Starfire nods, answering for you. "Yes, Kid Crimson has several powers, one of which is the power to teleport to different locations."

"Not bad," Troia tells you, placing her hands on her hips. "Teleportation, flight, barriers, and whatever you did to Katarou before. You've got quite the arsenal, haven't you?"

Before you can answer, a wave of dizziness overtakes you, and you sway on your legs for a moment before falling to one knee, feeling like you're about to vomit.

"Are you alright?" Starfire asks, kneeling in front of you and placing a hand upon your shoulder. "You have made extensive use of your powers today. Perhaps you should get some rest."

"Does this happen often?" Troia asks Starfire, kneeling as well to get a good look at you.

"My powers are psychic," you explain to Troia as Starfire helps you up. "If I use them too much, or push them too hard...I can get exhausted, get migraines, and apparently nausea."

Troia looks at you with sympathetic understanding. "The amount of power you needed to restrain Katarou must have taken a heavy toll. Overpowering one with an artifact such as the Gauntlet of Atlas is a feat very few could manage. You clearly possess a great deal of power, but must pay a price for its use."

You aren't sure if she's trying to compliment you, tell you something that you already know, or is just thinking out loud about the nature of your abilities. Whatever the case may be, it does seem apparent that she has some respect for your abilities, so you guess that's nice.

"Friend, would you like me to assist you in reaching your room?" Starfire questions, letting you lean on her a bit.

You shake your head in answer. While you truthfully would like nothing more than to go get some sleep, you want to see Beast Boy and Raven first. Everyone's assured you that they're fine, and you have no reason to doubt that, but you've never seen either one of them get hurt like that before, and you just need to reassure yourself that they'll be alright.

"Can you help me get to the medical wing?" you request.

"Yes," Starfire answers, helping you along to the infirmary, with Troia trailing slowly behind the two of you.

When you get there, Beast Boy is awake, though not looking very happy. His arm's in a cast, and he's complaining about his inability to use it for the time being.

"Man...half my transformations won't even work with this dumb cast," Beast Boy whines. "I can't turn into anything with four legs and fight right, or something like a gorilla or chimp if I can't use both arms."

"BB, you aren't doing any fighting until your arm's healed," Cyborg tells him sternly. "Just relax until then."

"How long's that going to take?" Beast Boy groans, leaning back into his pillow.

"From what I can tell, about five weeks," Cyborg answers, flinching as Beast Boy goes wide eyed and screams.

"FIVE WEEKS?!" the green Titan howls.

"Well, with the way your DNA works, there's really no telling how fast your body will recover from something like this," Cyborg tells him. "But on a normal person, I'd say five weeks."

Beast Boy smiles, looking incredibly relieved. "Oh, well then I'll be healed in no time. I'm not normal at all!"

"Tell me about it..." Cyborg grumbles.

Raven still hasn't woken up. She looks stiff as a board, floating front-up over her bed with her eyes closed, and little indication that she's even breathing.

"How long until Rae wakes up?" Beast Boy suddenly asks, looking over to the unconscious girl.

"No way to tell," Cyborg answers, looking at her. "I know plenty about medical science, but magic's not really my area. She'll probably just wake up when she's ready."

"Glad you're okay, Beast Boy," you tell the grimacing green guy groaning over his injury.

"Okay?!" he shouts. "Dude, do you not see my arm?!"

He's not mad at you, obviously, but he's still kind of freaking out over his injury, and Cyborg begins yelling at him to calm down, which devolves into a shouting match that makes your headache even worse. It doesn't look like they're about to call it quits, either. Their yelling gets louder and more persistent, and you've seen their little arguments enough times to know that they won't be stopping any time soon.

"Boys," Troia addresses, walking over toward them. "Will you calm down? You're behaving like children."

This only prompts the other two to start yelling at her as well, and Troia is quickly drawn into the shouting match, her voice matching the other two as they continue to incoherently mingle their angered voices.

"Star, can you help me to my room now?" you ask your friend, feeling like you're about to pass out on her shoulder.

She nods at you, and helps you toward the door. As the two of you walk down the hall, the yelling slowly fades away, and you sigh in relief as the pain in your head lessens a bit.

"Peter," Starfire speaks, addressing you by your "real" name now that you're out of earshot of anybody who doesn't already know your identity. "What you did before, to help us defeat the Katarou...."

You look over, waiting for her to continue.

"What do you mean?" you ask, having a hard time figuring out what she's referring to in your tired state.

"When you used your fury to hold Katarou so that Wonder Girl and I could remove the gauntlet from his arm," Starfire reminds you. "You were...frightening. You did not seem like you."

Now you understand. You couldn't see much of what you looked like during that struggle, but your friends probably did. The rage you felt in that moment, and the power it gave you, if your outer appearance in any way reflected that, it must have been a horrific thing to see. Part of you feels disgusted with the thoughts you felt in that moment, so you can understand what Starfire, and perhaps some of the others might be feeling about what you did. Starfire even says you weren't like you, and you definitely agree to that.

"I felt like I was a different person," you admit to her. "I wanted to do more than stop him. I wanted to break him, make him suffer. Looking back on it, I was almost like Blood."

Starfire lowers her head, and the sadness on her face hurts more than any blows you took fighting Katarou.

"It was unpleasant to see you like that," Starfire tells you, not chastising, not even criticizing, she's just telling you how she felt. "You did not only feel like you were a different person. You looked like you were a different person. I had feared that you would kill our opponent today, and that we would be unable to stop you."

Those words hurt, but at the same time, some part of you, deep down, actually feels a bit of pride at the fact that Starfire didn't believe that she and the others could stop you. That thought fills you with disgust, and you push it away as fast as you can, but it's still there, someplace in the back of your mind.

"I have seen other friends like that before," Starfire continues, sounding sadder by the second. "Raven, Robin, Beast Boy, Terra, all of them have let anger change them into things they are not before. Each time, it has nearly destroyed them."

"I'm sorry, Star," you tell her. "I got worried and did what I thought I had to do. But, when I heard you all call out to me, I thought back to one of my happiest memories."

Starfire looks to you with curiosity. "And may I ask what memory that was?"

"When you taught me how to fly," you answer. "Your friendship helped pull me out of my anger."

Now, Starfire's smile returns, though her eyes seem a little bit watery. You still think you've made her feel a little better, and that makes you feel great. Starfire really seems to excel at pushing your emotional buttons.

"You have powers fueled by anger," you point out, changing the subject. "But, I've never seen you really lose yourself. How do you do that, use your...I think you called it righteous fury?"

Starfire looks ahead again as she guides you toward your room, which the two of you should reach in less than a minute at this point.

"You said that when you fought Katarou, you wanted to break him and to make him suffer," she says to you. "That is not how I use my anger in battle. It is not about hurting my opponent, or causing suffering to anyone. It is about stopping my foe from harming anyone, especially those that are dear to me. I do not wish to cause any more pain than necessary, and I do not destroy anyone, no matter how wicked, unless there is no other choice."

She glances over at you. "My fury is not based on bringing harm, it is based on preventing it. Does that make sense to you?"

>>A. "Yes, that makes perfect sense."

"Yes," you tell her. "That makes perfect sense. It's "righteous" fury because its only aim is to protect."

Starfire gives you a smile. "Correct! Such anger is far easier to control than what you use in battle."

"Can you help me?" you ask suddenly.

What Starfire's saying makes sense, and you'd much rather use that kind of anger to power your attacks than the unrestrained rage and hatred that you wielded in your last fight. You'd feel much better fighting to protect your friends than to hurt your enemies, and you believe Starfire when she says that power would be easier to control.

Starfire seems surprised by your sudden request, but answers right away. "If I can help you, then I will do so gladly. But you must rest now. We can work on this later, and I fear any more stress on your mind would mean grave danger for you."

She doesn't need to be more specific. You know what she means, and she's right. If you weaken yourself any more than you already have, Blood will be able to invade your mind for certain. And, without Raven in a condition to aid you, you doubt you'll be able to face your old master and emerge victorious.

Starfire leads you to your bed, and once you're sitting in it, she turns to leave, wishing you well before exiting the room, the door sliding shut behind her. You're alone in your room; not even Silkie is around to keep you company at this point.

You lie back and close your eyes, ready to drift off into a pleasant sleep.

"Quite an impressive display earlier, Peter."

Well, of course you can't have any rest. Blood's voice assails your ears, and you're confident that opening your eyes would reveal his illusory form to you.

Also calling it early, Blood is the one who arranged for Katarou to get those artifacts. Probably to try to get us to push ourselves too far, as opposed to capture, since Katarou did not know anything about our powers and did not seem to fight us with any additional care.

Well, now you've got me curious

>>
>>2266791
Check again, results are no longer so conclusive
>>
>>2266798
Should have closed the poll then.

Jokes aside, as a fan of Teen Titans I like both Raven and Starfire equally. As a quest player, I've enjoyed Peter's interactions with both of them. Starfire, and our interactions with her, just happen to be completely adorable, and thanks to her personality we get to see that immediately.

Interacting with and developing a relationship (romantic or otherwise) with Raven is always going to be a slow burn prospect. Rush it and you ruin it. I think our friendship with Raven is going just fine. Her current unconsciousness notwithstanding.
>>
>>2266811
Fair enough
>>
>Troia leading the poll

Huh, I can honestly say I was not expecting that
>>
>>2266822
Not anymore. And she'll be benefiting from the new hotness effect.

The longer the poll goes the more likely it will be that Raven tops the chart, and even if she has a strong showing, subsequent polls won't reflect that bump unless she features heavily or has good chemistry with Peter (at least as good as Peter's chemistry with Starfire and Raven).
>>
>>2266829
Your prediction does not seem entirely accurate
>>
>>2268158
No, not entirely, but not too far off either.

Current rankings are:
Star (6 votes)
Raven (5 votes)
Troia (4 votes)
Rose and Cassie (3 votes each)
Blonde woman from vision (1 vote from a person with no taste)

Troia outperformed everyone but Raven and Starfire, but as the votes increased, Raven trended upward. The sample size is still extremely small. If I had voted for Raven instead of Starfire (which I would do under normal circumstances, I threw in with Star because we had good scenes with her lately), Raven would be on top.

Another prediction: If you had included Silkie, Silkie would be in the top 3, if not number 1, based on meme magic alone.

I don't think we actually have full telekinesis, just striking, pushing, or crushing. More delicate telekinesis might not come from anger (righteous or otherwise).

If our powers actually are emotional spectrum related, it (along with maybe constructs) would probably come from Will. Of course, there's no in game reason we would even consider that route. We might try to 'gently crush' an object and see if we can move it?

Your first stop is Starfire's room, and when you first arrive, you think that'll be the only stop you need to make to find your friend. When you knock on the door, it slides open, but nobody is there to greet you. There's no sign of Starfire anywhere in the room from what you can see, and you're wondering if her door's just malfunctioning or something when you hear a sound by your feet. Looking down, you see Silkie nuzzling against your leg.

Picking the little larva up and petting him for a minute, you set him back down and let him wander off as you go off to check the roof. No Starfire up there, but you are relieved to see Raven up and about.

She's hovering in a lotus position, and you can faintly hear her mantra repeatedly coming from her mouth. You leave her to her meditation, and go back inside, checking the common room, where you find Cyborg making waffles, and Beast Boy working on tofu eggs. Leaving them to their culinary exploits, you decide next to check the training room, and that's where you find Starfire.

She's using one of the weight machines, seeming to be straining as an absurd amount of weight is dropped onto her. It looks about three times as much as Cyborg usually lifts, but still she's managing to stand and hold it, though this clearly takes some serious effort.

Beside her, on the other machine, holding up a similar amount of weight, is Troia, who also seems to be having a rough time of it as well.

Robin is practicing his martial arts on training dummies nearby, occasionally looking over to make sure neither of the girls have hurt themselves.

"You really are strong..." Troia compliments Starfire, grunting as another weight is dropped on top of her.

"As are you," Starfire returns as another weight is dropped on her. "Did the amazons have training like this on your island?"

"Sort of," Troia answers, her knees looking just a bit shaky. "But without the machines. Things on Paradise Island are kind of old-fashioned, but they work just fine."

Each girl has another weight dropped on them, and both look ready to collapse from the insane force pressing them toward the ground. You don't even want to think about how much weight those two are carrying, and you find yourself thinking about just how strong Starfire is. She's probably the nicest person you've met, but things like this remind you that she could snap you like a twig if she had to.

And it looks like Troia's at least that strong as well. It looks like the two of them have some kind of friendly rivalry going on, between their eagerness to race one-another yesterday, and the fact that neither one seems ready to call it quits with the weights, despite the strain this exercise is causing them.

Robin stops attacking the dummies, giving his full focus to the two Titans struggling with those massive weights.

"Are they going to be okay?" you ask Robin, moving to stand beside him as the girls continue their insane weight lifting.

"They'll be fine," Robin assures you, sounding confident despite the fact that he's keeping a very close eye on the situation. "They're both unbelievably strong, and neither of them are the type to let themselves get hurt over a little competition."

Well, you can agree that Starfire doesn't seem the type, but you aren't sure that you know Troia enough to feel the same level of certainty that Robin does toward her.

More weight is dropped onto their backs, and Starfire drops to one knee, Troia not far behind her. It seems that they've both reached their limits.

"Perhaps it is best if we stop this now?" Starfire suggests, eyes clenched shut as she struggles to hold up the weight.

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Troia replies, not looking much better than Star right now. "So, how do we shut this thing down?"

"I've got it," Robin declares, walking over to the machine controlling the weights, and making it take them off of the girls.

Starfire and Troia get back on their feet, cracking their backs and wincing a bit. They're probably going to feel that later. Despite this, and the fact that there was no clear winner, the two girls seem quite happy. They smile and congratulate each-other on their performances, complimenting one-another's strength. Your first guess seems to be right. If the two of them have a rivalry, it's a very friendly one.

"I wish I'd had you as a training partner back on the island," Troia remarks as she does some more stretches. "I'd be in better shape than I am now."

"Did you not have the training with Wonder Woman?" Starfire questions.

"I did, but I couldn't keep up with her," Troia answers, sounding just a little bit frustrated about that. "I'm strong, but she's something else."

"What's this island you keep mentioning?" you ask Troia.

"Paradise Island," she answers, smiling fondly. "Home of the amazons. It's where I grew up. It's separate from the world of man, and inhabited only by women. In fact, if a man sets foot on the island, it'll sink into the sea."

"It is a most beautiful place," Starfire remarks, giving the same fond smile as Troia upon thinking about it.

An island full of women, that you assume are warriors if Troia, Wonder Girl, and Wonder Woman are any indication, separate from the world, and apparently very old-fashioned, which you think means they have no technology based on what Troia was saying. Starfire says the island is beautiful, and Troia is obviously very fond of it, but you wonder what exactly they do there on their own without any men around. You're no expert, but you're pretty sure that they need men to-

"-Woman decided that man's world needed help and guidance, so she went out into the world to be a hero. And now, I'm doing the same," Troia tells you, pulling you out of your thoughts.

"It's not like you haven't helped us before," Robin points out to Troia.

"True," she answers. "But I always had to sneak away to come help you guys. Wonder Woman might be okay with man's world, but not all of the others feel the same way."

Her and Robin get into their own conversation, and you decide to ask Starfire to help you, the reason you came here in the first place.

"I was wondering if you could help me train my powers," you tell her.

She smiles kindly at you. "Of course, friend. Come, we will do the training outside so that we do not damage anything."

Starfire leads you through the tower and up onto the roof, where Raven is still deep in meditation. Starfire walks over to the edge, looking down at the beach for a moment before turning and looking around the roof.

"We will have plenty of room up here," she decides, before looking at the meditating Raven and changing her mind. "But perhaps the beach will provide us with more targets. Come!"

She leaps off the roof and slowly floats down to the beach, and you follow behind her, landing on the shore and looking out at the ocean. The view is still very nice, even having seen it a hundred times. It's very peaceful out here, especially when considering how loud it can get in the tower.

But, peace isn't why you're here.

"The water will be your target," Starfire says to you, gesturing to the ocean. "It can not feel pain, and will not be damaged by your attacks."

Psychically punching the ocean? Well, that's new.

"Now, do just as I told you yesterday," Starfire instructs. "Let your fury be focused on thoughts of protecting others, and stopping bad people from doing harm. Do not think about hurting your target, causing suffering, or "crushing" them. Keep your reasons for fighting pure, and your powers will serve you well."

"Alright," you tell her. "I'll try."

As it turns out, doing things as per Starfire's instructions is not so easy as it sounds. While you understand Starfire's approach in theory, actually directing anger at a target without thinking about hurting or crushing it is quite difficult, especially considering how used to the more violent approach over the course of your training. Whether Raven was simply wrong in her advice for you, or if you just had the wrong sort of interpretation of it, you've become set in your ways, and breaking such habits isn't an easy thing.

After an hour, you still haven't managed it. Starfire offers words of encouragement, but you can't help but feel incredibly frustrated.

"Do not despair," Starfire tells you. "Such things are not always accomplished quickly. Persevere, and I know that you will be able to do it!"

Her confidence is nice, but if simply trying over and over was all it took, you feel like you would have gotten the hang of this by now. What is it that's preventing you from getting into the proper mentality? Well, that's easy enough to figure out. You're having difficulty striking with anger without the intent and desire to cause harm. Simple as the problem is, the solution doesn't make itself so easy to figure out.

After nearly another hour, you and Starfire sit on the rocks by the ocean, looking ahead toward the horizon. You can see seagulls flying in the distance, and think you might have seen a dolphin jump.

"Peter," Starfire calls quietly.

You look over at her. "Yeah?"

"When you create your barriers, it is because you feel fear of yourself or somebody else being harmed, correct?" she asks you.

>>A. "Yeah, that's pretty much it."

"I think it's more than fear of harm," you tell her. "It's also wanting to protect. It's also actually a bit about wanting them to stop, now that I think about it. I don't want them to get closer, and with my will I can stop them."

Starfire nods in approval. "You are getting closer to the correct approach. Protection, stopping your foe from causing harm, these are the goals that should be in your heart when you do battle. The difference is using anger rather than your fear. You are furious that someone or something is aiming to cause harm, but your goal is not to make them suffer for it. Instead, your aim is simply to stop them from causing more harm. It is not about attacking, it is about protecting."

Starfire stands up, staring out into the sea. "When you saw Katarou harm Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy, you felt fear for them, and anger at Katarou, yes?"

You nod.

"Fear and anger are often closely intertwined," Starfire tells you, holding a hand out toward the ocean. "Fear of those you care for being hurt can feed your anger toward those that would do them harm. The only difference between anger and fear for you is that fear allows you to shield, while anger allows you to strike. So long as the intent is the same, you will be able to command the same control."

Starfire's hand glows, and a green ball of light shoots off across the sea.

With Starfire's new explanation in mind, you stand back up, looking out to the sea and focusing your mind. You think of protecting yourself, of protecting your friends, and anger that they are being threatened. It takes a bit for you to find the correct mind-frame, but you eventually manage to understand. When you feel your anger rise, it's not due to a desire to hurt, but to protect, just as Starfire told you. And so when you strike with your mind, the sensation is different. You don't feel any twinges of sadism in your method, you don't feel the overwhelming desire to crush or punish like you did during the battle with Katarou. Instead, you feel a desire to stop harm from being caused, and that's a goal that no part of you feels any reservations about.

You strike the water, and are surprised by the amount of power your attack holds. It's not as strong as what you used against Katarou before, but it's far more potent than your normal Psychic Punches. Maybe it's because you're allowing yourself to feel anger rather than just remembering what it was like to feel it.

You don't feel any sort of struggle to maintain control right now, nor do you feel it when you repeat the process, despite knowing that you've allowed yourself to grow angry.

"Well done!" Starfire praises, flying over and giving you a tight hug.

The show of affection (or the pain that causes you) snaps you out of your angry state, and you find yourself floating just a few inches off the ground.

You've done it. You've figured out how to truly use your power without letting it control you. At least, in terms of angry power. The other powers seem largely under control, however, so you decide to leave it at that for now.

"Thanks, Star," you tell your friend as you struggle to free your arms and hug her back. "You're awesome."

The two of you share a warm embrace for a few seconds before stepping away from one-another. You tell her that you'll see her later, and float up to the roof, where you find Raven still meditating.

She's been at this for a while, and that worries you a bit. You remember that the others had said she was in a sort of meditative trance after Katarou's attack, and that it would let her recover. Part of you wonders if she's meditating this long because she still hasn't completed her healing.

After a few seconds, she opens her eyes and gets her feet back on the ground, her meditation over, at least for now.

"I'm fine," she assures you, her tone a bit softer now. "I took a bad hit, but I've recovered from worse. It's just too bad Beast Boy can't heal that quickly."

Yeah, you have to admit that you feel sorry for your green friend. As much as he was overreacting about the situation, you do have to acknowledge that it's a sucky situation.

Your stomach growls, and you realize that you haven't had anything to eat yet today.
