>Blood on the Brain Edition

Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Once again, you find yourself standing within your own mindscape, the seemingly endless sea of thoughts and memories stretching out in every direction as stars through the unending void of space. Once again, you're standing on a road you can use to navigate through this place, if you only think of what it is that you want to find. Once again, you feel uneasy. Once again, you're not alone.

But this time, you wish you were.

Brother Blood strolls toward you on the path ahead, hand on his chin as he examines the thoughts that flow by, making an exaggerated face of fascination and intrigue as he slowly steps closer and closer. It looks kind of ridiculous, given his cybernetic form, but that's not what concerns you about this whole thing. How did he get in here, and how did he pull your consciousness in here with him?

Or, is that even what he did?

"Peter, Peter, Peter," he chides like a disappointed parent about to give another explanation to their child. "You really shouldn't do this to yourself. Your mind is reeling from forcing that memory to appear, and even with that effort, all you've managed to see is a snippet. Still, I must say that I admire your fortitude. You always were able to push through challenges."

He stops looking at the passing thoughts, focus now resting squarely on you as he halts his approach just out of your reach.

"What a shame you've lost your sense of loyalty."

>A. "I am loyal, to the Titans."

>B. "How could I be loyal to somebody who plans to destroy the world? No wonder I ran away!"

He seems to be expecting some kind of response, but all that you offer him is silence. You've managed to block Blood out by doing exactly that in the past, but you somehow aren't sure it will work as well in this case, when he's already in your mind with you, in a form that can interact with your own.

"Your insistence on silence is growing old, Peter," Blood tells you, anger seeping into his voice.

It seems you've already provoked him into an attack, and are thrown back when he thrusts a mechanical hand toward you, using his own psychic abilities to toss you to the ground. You get right back up, and he doesn't strike again, but his message is clear. If you ignore him or anger him, he intends to make you pay for it.

"You have little idea how frustrating it is to see a model follower turned into an impudent brat who doesn't seem to remember who he's dealing with," he spits. "But it's even more frustrating that I didn't realize what kind of fool you were. You never would have been offered such an opportunity if I knew you were a cowardly, disloyal, insolent ingrate! The chance I gave you, your sister, your friends. Do you know how many would have killed for what could have been yours?"

>A. "I'm not like those people."

>B. "A chance to help you destroy the Earth? Somehow that doesn't feel like an honor."

>C. "Nobody else would be following you if they knew what you're planning."

>D. Say nothing

That's a good fishing for info line, because either he tells us that they already know, or he implies that they don't.

I don't think we should tell him that. I know he could have just reached and saw our memory. But lets work on the assumption he doesn't know how deep we went into his plan and keeps things vague.

"Nobody else would be following you if they knew what you're planning," you insist, deciding to give him the conversation he wants.

Blood's anger dissipates in an instance, replaced by a look of amusement that makes you want to deck him as hard as you possibly can. You know how to push his buttons, but he's quite good at angering you himself. It seems hard to believe that the two of you ever really got along to begin with.

"You'd be surprised, Peter," he tells you with a smirk. "Some possess greater loyalty than you. Though, if they learned what you did back then, perhaps they would have reacted similarly. A pity that you acted based on an incomplete picture. You let your assumptions run wild, and that drove you into a panic. It's sad, really. You clearly hope to discover what I'm up to by looking through your repressed memories. Not only are you fighting your own mind, but you're looking for something that just isn't there. You never knew what I was really planning, Peter. If you had, I'm confident you would still be serving at my side."

>A. "And what are you really planning?"

>B. "You're summoning Trigon! You want to destroy the Earth! Even back then I would never have gone along with that!"

>C. "What can I say? My judgement's improved over the last few months."

Basically the idea, but I think if you ask questions there is a chance he gets suspicious. If you make statements that are incorrect (like >B) he feels the pathological need to prove his superiority and gloat over your ignorance.

I still wonder why Sam said that our memory was repressed for a reason.

"You're planning to summon Trigon!" you shout at the man. "How is something like that even sane? There's no way you could ever hope to control something like that, so why would I ever go along with a plan like that?"

Maybe you can get him to reveal information on his plan if you continue to play into his idea that you have no clue as to what he's really up to, and encourage him to mock your lack of understanding of the situation.

Blood chuckles. "Some subtlety would do you good when fishing for information, Peter. Unlike you, I remember that day in its entirety, and know what you actually saw. But you're right, I could never hope to control a being like Trigon the Terrible. That's not what I'm planning, nor is the destruction of the Earth. As for my actual plan, I'm afraid I don't want you finding out. I'm sure you understand, seeing as how you're the enemy, now."

Well, that's something, you guess. You know two things he's not trying to do.

A look of pity comes to his face. "And what a shame that is. Your poor mother and sister...."

>A. "They're not my family anymore. I don't care if they're upset."

"What about them?" you ask.

"What do you think?" Blood asks in return. "For poor Marissa to lose her twin brother, for your mother to lose her only son....I can only imagine how much that hurts."

You've thought about that yourself. Heck, you even said as much to Maris-wait, she's your twin? That's...huh. Anyway, aside from that he really isn't telling you anything that you haven't already considered. You just hope that you won't have to fight Marissa or your mother. Beyond that, you think you can deal with their sadness for the time being.

"You know, I almost didn't send your team to apprehend you," Blood remarks. "I know that poor Linus isn't eager to fight you for more than one reason, and I truly doubted Marissa would have it in her to take the life of her brother, but the girl was insistent that she be allowed to go and see for herself what you've become. She wasn't in high spirits when she came back."

Blood suddenly smiles. Not a condescending smirk, but a genuine smile, as if he's looking at a friend or family member, not a bitter enemy.

"You know, Peter," he says. "I can still take you back. You can be forgiven for how you acted in confusion, you can be reunited with your family and friends, and you can receive the great honor I had planned for you. Help yourself, Peter. The Titans are doomed, but you don't have to die with them. You can come back to me and live a happy life with your family."

>A. "You've made this offer already, and my answer's the same as before. No."

>>
>>2365461
Again with this? He's seriously trying to recruit you after everything he's said and done? Everything he's threatened and promised to do? He really expects you to betray your friends because he forgives you and you weren't entirely right about his plans with a world-conquering demon? And he has the gall to guilt-trip you over your mom and sister when it was his own actions that caused them to lose you?

Clearly, his plan was to play on your emotions. He's definitely managed to illicit an emotional response from you, but not the type he was hoping for. No more silence, no more passive-aggressiveness, no more beating around the bush to try and scrape together bits and pieces of information. You're going to give him a piece of your mind.

"How do you think they'll react when they find out you're the one who stole their son and brother?" you question, feeling satisfaction already as his smile disappears. "All that power of yours, unfettered access to Samuel's head, and the best you can do is an amnesiac who you hoped to recruit from scratch?"

"You watch your mouth you little brat!" Blood demands, his pleasant facade replaced by the roaring fury you've come to associate with this mechanical megalomaniac.

Good, you've mad him angry. But you're not done yet.

"You couldn't remake a loyal Samuel because it was beyond your powers," you tell him, taking another jab at his pride. "And better no Samuel at all than one who's disloyal. The recruiting plan is a bust too, because you don't realize how easy it is to spot a narcissist from the outside."

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" Blood roars, backhanding you across the face with one of his mechanical appendages and knocking you right to the ground. "You ungrateful, arrogant worm! I gave you everything! A home, training, powers, the chance to become something greater than most men could even dream of, and you have the audacity to speak to me in such a manner?!"

Another motion of his hand, and you're lifted off the ground, suspended in the air as you feel your oxygen supply being cut off. You shouldn't have to breathe, considering you're a thought-form at this point. But, in your mind as you are, what happens here could influence your actual body in who knows how many ways?

"I'd hoped I could make you see reason, that you could still be useful," Blood growls. "Your mother and sister begged me to find a way to spare you. But do you know what? That isn't going to happen. I am going to take great pleasure in putting a permanent end to your miserable defiance!"

>A. He's got you good and mad. Hit him with Psychic Force and make him regret coming here!

You've really gotten to Blood. Any pretense of benevolence, composure, and emotional control thrown to the wayside as your words reduce him to an enraged maniac determined to choke you out because he doesn't like what you said. He may think that he's better than you, that he's stronger, but he can't even keep his own emotions under control. He's acting like a petulant child throwing a tantrum, and forgetting where he is.

This is your mind, and he has no power here.

A song that you enjoy begins to play, its melody and sound rolling across the dreamscape, and momentarily distracting Blood, who instinctively looks for the source of it all.

You smile, breaking his grip on your throat and dropping to the ground. Once again, you have Blood's full attention, but there's nothing he can do to you now. He thrusts his arms toward you as if to psychically throw you back, but nothing happens.

You take a step forward.

He makes the same motion that resulted in you hanging in the air unable to breathe but a moment ago, but again, nothing happens. He repeats the gesture over and over, but with no change in its effectiveness.

You take a step forward.

Blood roars in fury, raising his hands and forming an orb of red light between his mechanical palms. It pulses and crackles with tremendous energy, energy that he unleashes on you without hesitation, leaping into the air to distance himself and throwing the orb down on you.

You don't even bother trying to dodge, but when it strikes you, and the energy begins to disperse, you take control of some of it, letting it swirl around you like an aura of fire as you once again begin to move toward Brother Blood, lifting off the ground and slowly floating up to him. You can see his face twitching with rage, and the scowl he's giving you in combination with that draws a chuckle out of you, which only seems to further infuriate him.

"DON'T YOU LAUGH AT ME!" he commands, rushing through the dreamscape air toward you, throwing a chop at your neck.

He still doesn't get it. This is your mind. And he isn't welcome here.

>Continued
>>
>>2365639
You move with speed that would be impossible for you on the outside, or perhaps you simply slowed Blood down. Whatever the case may be, you bring up a hand to catch his chop, grabbing his fingers and giving them a squeeze, at which point not only they, but that entire arm turn to dust.

"NO!" Blood howls, thrusting his remaining hand toward you, two fingers out to strike you in the eyes.

You swat that hand aside, and it turns to dust seconds later, before he would have even been able to try and bring it back in for another hit. Then, you punch him in the stomach, watching his body crumble into nothingness as he hunches forward in pain.

Only a disembodied head remains, falling to the ground below. You slowly drift down, landing in front of him as he looks up at you with impotent rage and hate.

"You've sealed your fate, boy!" he raves as you stand over him. "I will find you, and I will make you-"

Pulling back your right foot, you give the head a kick, sending it sailing through the sky as it gradually burns away into nothing, one last cry of fury escaping his lips before he is entirely banished from your mind.

Blood is gone, you've won. And, you doubt he'll ever be able to truly threaten you within your own mind ever again. Outside, in the real world, it's a different matter, and you know that trying to fight him yourself would be suicide. But here, in this endless expanse of thoughts and memories, he is nothing, and you have nothing to fear.

Once again, you stand alone in the great mindscape.

Alone at last, and in complete control of yourself and your mind, you decide to take a nice, relaxing stroll through your mind. And so, you walk down the long, twisting road before you, seeing images, thoughts, and memories float past you as you move further and further around in there. You see the faces of your friends (even Simon and Marissa) float past you, and memories of some of the good times you've had recently.

You see yourself dancing with Donna and Rose in the arcade, flying through the skies with Starfire, helping Cyborg with the T-Car, watching movies with Beast Boy, training with Robin, playing video games with all of the guys, meditating with Raven, the movie nights and parties you've all enjoyed together. You smile.

Some less-than pleasant memories pass by you too, though. The time you destroyed the training room, when Beast Boy and Raven were hurt fighting Katarou, the look of misery on Marissa's face the last time you saw her, the sadness in Simon's eyes when you let him into the tower, that time you had to wash Beast Boy's clothes.

You spend a long time walking, taking in the sights, sounds, and other sensations that your memories bring you. A literal stroll down memory lane, and it's quite nice. But, it does not last forever, and eventually, you wake up in your bed. For some reason, there's a vacuum cleaner sitting next to it, and various extensions for it scattered around the room, as if it were thrown at somebody.

Looking over at the clock, you realize that you majorly overslept. It's after noon!

Getting up and getting showered, you return to your room, get dressed, gather up the vacuum cleaner parts, then stroll into the living room with them.

"So...why were these all over my room?" you ask your friends.

Beast Boy gives a nervous laugh, as all of the others glare at him.

Hey MoG, here's an out there question:

What if Peter had ever said yes to Blood's offers? What if he had stuck with Blood way back in thread 1? What would you have done?
>>
>>2365835
Not sure, honestly. I had a lot less of Blood's plan worked out way back then.
>>
>>2365837
I assume Blood would just string us along for a while doing other stuff while you worked out the plot in the background.

So was

right, and was E a bad answer? (I definitely agree that it feels like a dangerous choice.) For that matter, how would have some of the other answers played out?

E would have gotten rid of Blood, but you would have had more problems afterword.

You could have caused Blood serious pain with some of the others

I'm just picturing the TTG episodes where Raven's emoticlones get lose in the real world. Though it probably wouldn't have been that fun.

Still trying to read those, though the site I found with them has truly intolerable ads (snaps you from your place in the page down to the ad, over and over again).

I noticed you made Yellow Sam Fear instead of Logic. I suppose you agree that if TT2003 was written today the Emoticlones would have paralleled the emotional electromagnetic spectrum?

Linus crushing on Samuel confirmed. Will update Peterbowl chart to reflect this. Also, since we cemented ourselves as Blood's control-obsession last night, the chart will reflect that as well.

Beast Boy continues to nervously smile as the others fix him with irritated glares, telling you enough for you to get the gist. Well, enough to let you know that Beast Boy's responsible for the vacuum cleaner in your room, but really not enough to explain what in the world he was doing with it. And he doesn't look like he's planning to go into details. Luckily, Cyborg's willing to do it for him.

"We sent Beast Boy to check up on you when you never came out of your room this morning," he tells you. "Next thing we know, he comes in yelling that something's wrong with you. Raven puts together what's going on in your head, and while she tries to find someway to help you, grass-stain goes and gets a vacuum cleaner."

"Long story short, he planned to suck Brother Blood out of your head with a vacuum," Troia explains. "Raven threw the extensions at him until he left."

"I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help you," Raven speaks up. "I wasn't able to make contact with your consciousness, or enter your mind myself. Either you, or Blood, or some combination of your energies were preventing me from getting involved."

"She did stay by your side until she could tell you were alright, though," Robin informs you, which for some reason causes Raven's face to redden ever-so-slightly.

"Once I saw that you'd gotten rid of Blood, we all left you alone," Raven finishes up. "We figured you probably needed the rest."

"Please, tell us," Starfire says from her spot beside Robin. "What took place inside of your mind? What did the Brother Blood attempt?"

"He tried to recruit me back into the HIVE," you answer Starfire. "And, I learned a little bit more about his plans."

"Nice work," Robin compliments, looking to you with interest. "So, what did you learn?"

"He's not planning to destroy the Earth, or to control Trigon," you answer, recalling the main points of what Blood told you. "He also said that what I saw that made me run from the HIVE wasn't the full picture."

"That's not much to go on," Robin remarks in a somewhat disappointed tone, stroking his chin. "But, it does let us narrow things down a bit. And now we know not to expect all of the information to be hidden in your head somewhere."

You don't know if you'd really consider that last part comforting. Sure, it should prevent certain mistakes from occurring, but at the same time, that means the answers you and your friends need are just that much further out of reach. Your memories should give you some clues, and hopefully put you in the right direction, but you aren't going to learn everything just by poking around in your head.

"So what happened with Blood?" Cyborg asks, his voice somewhat bitter. "I know he doesn't usually take rejection well."

"I kicked his butt across my brain, then sent him packing," you explain, still feeling rather happy as you remember the beat-down you gave the old man.

"You managed to push him out of your mind?" Raven asks, seeming surprised. "Nice work. Getting a powerful psychic out of your head isn't easy."

"Yeah, good job,"Cyborg agrees. "But knowing Blood, he's just going to want to kill you that much more now that you've humiliated him like that."

He's probably right. Blood is one of the most prideful people you've ever encountered. And he's clearly quite stubborn, as he's persisted in trying to recruit you and damage your mind. Hopefully, now that you know how to deal with these mental attacks, that won't be a danger in the future. At the same time, however, you understand that Blood could almost certainly rip you to pieces in an actual fight in the real world. If Blood comes for you, and you're alone, you're doomed.

"Perhaps his anger will make him sloppy," Troia suggests. "He might be the one dying in his quest for revenge."

>A. "I don't want to kill him."

>B. "I doubt we'll be that lucky."

>C. "Now that's a happy thought."

"I don't want to kill him," you tell Troia, which actually results in a look of surprise from her.

She doesn't question your reasoning, doesn't argue the wisdom of avoiding killing an enemy, she just looks surprised that you wouldn't want Blood dead, and lets it go. Some of the others (particularly Robin and Starfire) look a little bit uncomfortable with Donna's suggestion, though Cyborg looks like he actually agrees with her sentiment. That might be something to discuss later.

"Oh, I should probably mention that my sister's not the only family I have there," you tell the others, breaking the awkward silence that is beginning to take hold. "It turns out that my mom's there, too."

And cue more looks of shock. Nobody really seems to know what to say to that particular revelation, and you expect that if and when they're able to speak again, they'll just give you the typical statements of sympathy, so you once again decide to change the subject in order to bring an end to the awkward silence that has built up.

"Did I miss anything important while I was asleep?" you ask the others.

"Not really," Cyborg answers. "Kid Flash and Jinx told us to keep them posted about the situation with Blood and to let them know if we need their help."

"Thunder and Lightning told us to call if we need some extra power to use against Blood," Beast Boy adds. "They don't feel like helping with investigating stuff, though."

"And I've been in contact with my friend," Robin tells you. "She's seeing what information she can dig up on the HIVE. Hopefully, we'll be hearing from her soon."

"Hopefully we'll find out how the police raid against the Burning Blizzard went, too," Cyborg adds. "Weren't they supposed to hit that place yesterday?"

"There must not be much to report," Donna suggests. "They went to take down a small group of drug dealers. Unless they find something important, they probably don't feel like calling us."

"I asked them to let us know what happened," Robin recalls, looking out the window. "So what gives?"

>A. "Maybe they haven't gone in yet. They might be scoping the place out or waiting for something."

"Maybe they haven't gone in yet," you suggest. "They might be scoping the place out, or waiting for something."

"Maybe, but why wouldn't they let us know if something came up?" Robin asks you. "If there was something dangerous they noticed, or if there was no sign of anybody being there, why wouldn't they have said something?"

He's right. This seems very wrong. This should have been something the police could easily handle, and if there were complications of some kind, you don't know why they wouldn't call on the Teen Titans for assistance.

"Maybe we should give them a call," you suggest.

"Good idea," Robin tells you. "I'll get in touch with them right away."

He turns away from Starfire and makes his way back to the main computer system, taking a seat and typing away at the keyboard as he attempts to establish communications with the JCPD. While he handles that, you go into the kitchen and make yourself a sandwich, wanting some food in your belly, especially if you're going to have to deal with some sort of trouble shortly.

"Alright, something's definitely going on," Robin announces after a few minutes. "They say that no officers were dispatched, and won't say when they plan to investigate. The chief of police told me yesterday that officers were being sent."

"We should go and investigate, yes?" Starfire questions.

"Not yet," Robin tells her, standing up. "I want to know what we're walking into, and I may have a way to find out."

He walks out of the living room doors, leading you to assume that he's going to his room to do some sort of investigation, or to contact that mysterious friend of his. Whatever he's doing, it seems to signify that you aren't going out to deal with trouble just yet.

"What's his deal?" Beast Boy asks once Robin's left the room. "Having us wait like this is just weird for Robin. He's usually the first one to say that we need to go deal with something."

"He's definitely worried about something," Cyborg tells Beast Boy. "And if Robin's nervous, it's probably a good idea to be a little cautious."

Troia walks around the sofa to stand with Beast Boy and Cyborg.

"My guess is that he's worried about Bane," she suggests. "He's clearly not relishing the possibility of having to fight him, and not knowing what happened with the police investigation might have him thinking Bane might be involved."

>Continued
>>
>>2367525
Cyborg gives her a doubtful look. "But there's a thousand other possible explanations, and Robin's never been one to be scared off."

"Well, there were all those times with Starfire," Beast Boy remarks. "How long did it take him to man up and tell her how he felt?"

"Fear is a powerful thing," Starfire tells Cyborg. "You know as well as any of us how paralyzing it can be. And it is not always logical."

>A. "But Robin's dealt with things like Trigon. How's this guy so scary to him?"

>B. "That could be it. But, whatever his reasons, it's probably best that we know what we're getting into."

"That could be it," you admit. "But, whatever his reasons, it's probably best that we know what we're getting into."

"That may be ideal," Raven responds. "But it might not be the best approach. If the police really did go in yesterday, and haven't made it out, they might not have much time."

"But we have no way of knowing that," Cyborg tells her.

"It's just a possibility I thought I should point out," Raven tells him. "Of course I don't know whether that happened our not. All I'm saying is that the situation might have a time limit for us to deal with it."

"You have a point, Raven," Troia tells her. "But even if time is of the essence, going in blind is almost never a good idea. We should at least do some scouting first."

"Dudes, I've got this!" Beast Boy declares excitedly, taking the form of a fly for just a moment before returning to normal. "Nobody'll notice a fly on the wall."

"And I can phase through solid matter," Raven adds. "Doing some spying shouldn't be hard."

"I do not believe that Robin would approve," Starfire tells everyone. "He is our leader, and if he wants us to wait, we should listen."

Troia crosses her arms, sighing. "She's right. No force holds together without trust in the leader."

>A. "Well, Robin never exactly forbade us from doing anything, did he? So, we wouldn't be disobeying him if we had a look around."

Although I wish he had been more forthcoming with details, Robin mentioned there's something specific he's trying right now, so I think we should wait and see if that bears any fruit.

Because DC can't into proper romance.
The cuteness of BB and Raven isphenomenal
>>

Here are some plans to avoid cucking Beast Boy:

1. Find a way to restore Terra's memories.
2. Set him up with someone else (oddly enough, he apparently marries Rose in one comic?)
3. Date him instead.
>>
>>2369226
Still not a couple in this quest, so she is fair game as far as most people are concerned.

BB isn't gay

Not only that, but we don't even know if Beast Boy has a crush in MoG's game. At the end of TT2003, Beast Boy is still grappling with his feelings for Terra (which he expressed in this quest). I don't know about the TTG comic, but my sense has been that while MoG is taking things from there, its sort of an a la carte thing. That is, he's picking and choosing what he wants from there without feeling compelled to include everything.

>>2369369
Well said.

Oh no, I meant Terra. In quest at least, he doesn't seem to have anything for Raven, and I can't remember it ever being pushed hard in the show anyway. And he definitely hasn't been pining over her for years.
And if he's over Terra, then that doesn't really matter either.

Since waifus are a common topic during intermission, let me ask you something: do you guys think it's usual for quest MCs to be the "initiator" of romance? And if yes, how would you react if a character instead expressed interest first?
>>
>>2370823
I haven't participated in many quests, so I can't sight any actual evidence, but my sense is that it'd usually be the protag as initiator.

From a storytelling perspective, I absolutely welcome the inverse if for no other reason than variety, but thinking on it, there's a big disadvantage to doing so:

If the NPC is the initiator, then the protag has a choice: enter a relationship, or reject, both options are going to be impactful, and the protag will if positive, the protag getting locked into, or out of a relationship will depend entirely on who's in the thread at that moment.

This might seem to simply be the way of quests, but with protag-as-initiator, the protag has a choice of initiating or not initiating. If the thread votes not to initiate, it doesn't seal off a relationship entirely, as the protag simply doesn't bring it up (with allowances for particulars of the story).

"If you want to do some scouting, then go ahead. But be as careful and quiet about it as you possibly can."

Robin's answer to your question broadcasts loudly enough from your communicator for the entire team to hear it crystal clear. The decision to simply call Robin and ask for permission has put a stop to any debate, and your leader's response has drawn mostly positive reactions.

"I've been in contact with my friend," Robin informs everyone. "They're seeing what information they can gather, but in the meantime, you can go have a look around."

"Awesome!" Beast Boy declares, pumping his fist. "Time for some stealth!"

He shape-shifts into a fly, then lands on Cyborg's shoulder and turns into a rat, then leaps over at you, only to take the form of a bird half-way there and fly right over your head before returning to his normal form and making a landing.

"Stick with the fly," Raven tells him.

"I don't know much about the animals around here," Troia says. "But I doubt that green rats and birds are very common."

"Alright, alright," Beast Boy grumbles before turning back into a fly and buzzing around.

"I'll go, too," Raven announces. "I can phase through walls and ceilings. And if things go wrong, I can get everybody out of there quickly."

"Well, just in case you need some muscle, I'll come along," Donna declares, slamming her right fist into her left palm.

"Wait, so that leaves Crimson, Star, and me to sit back at the tower?" Cyborg asks, sounding disappointed and like he's very willing to argue.

"If you're going scouting, you should only take a few people," Robin speaks up, having not yet ended the transmission. "Three people is already pushing it."

"So they get to go just because they called dibs?" Cyborg grumbles.

Beast Boy gives Cyborg a poo-eating grin, getting right up in the taller Titan's face. "You snooze you lose, Cy!"

"Friend Cyborg," Starfire cuts in before the metal man can throttle the grinning green goofball. "Is there a particular reason you do not think the three of them should go?"

Cyborg looks down, twiddling this thumbs like an embarrassed child who got caught misbehaving.

"Because I wanted to go...."

>>A. "Actually, Cyborg's tech could be useful for surveillance, and he's super strong, too. Maybe Troia should sit this one out and let him go."

>>B. "Maybe next time, Cyborg. Besides, there's always the chance they'll need us to come to their rescue."

>>C. "Beast Boy just finished recovering from the last time he fought. Maybe he should sit this out and let me take the risk."

"Actually, Cyborg's tech could be useful for surveillance," you point out. "And he's super strong, too. Troia, maybe you should sit this one out and let him go?"

The dark-haired girl looks disappointed, but after a moment of thought seems to decide that there's truth to what you're saying. She gives a sigh, then looks to Cyborg, who looks a lot less upset now that he might actually get to go on this little escapade.

"He's right, Cyborg, you'll be more useful for this type of scouting than me," she admits to him. "But if there ends up being a fight, make sure you save some bad-guy butt for me to kick, alright?"

Cyborg smiles. "No problem."

"Alright then, you three, get out there and see what you can find. The rest of you, keep your communicators handy in case they need help," Robin addresses. "I'll be in contact once I learn anything new. Robin out."

"Well, you heard the man," Cyborg tells everyone. "Let's get moving. We'll see you guys soon."

The three Titans make for the exit, rushing off to get started on their mission. Cyborg's first out the door, with Beast Boy right on his tail. Raven, meanwhile, simply uses her magic to transport herself where she needs to go.

"So, what now?" Troia asks.

I'm not against training with Donna or Star but I feel like trying to hold either one of them will drain Peter's power really fast, so I'm opting to take it easy until we know more about the situation in the warehouse.
>>
>>2371040
>>2371047
Good question. A few ideas go through your mind, most of them involving training. You could probably use a bit more of a physical work-out if you don't want to keep having to rely on your powers too much. But, thinking of your powers brings another idea to mind. You have two super-strong girls here with you. Maybe one of them would be willing to help you test your powers. Attempting to restrain someone as strong as either of them would be quite the mental work-out.

But, before you can do any of that, you have a question that you want to ask. You don't think it's a good idea to call up and ask Robin, but Starfire might know. If there's anyone who can tell you things about the boy wonder, it would probably be her.

"Starfire, do you know anything about this friend Robin keeps mentioning?" you ask her.

"I've been kind of curious about that as well," Troia admits, looking to the alien princess. "He seems to have a high degree of trust in them. Is it someone we know? Another Titan?"

"She goes by the name 'Oracle'," Starfire answers. "She provides heroes such as Robin and the Batman with information to assist them in fighting crime. Robin says they were...close, back when he lived in Gotham."

"Close?" Troia asks, raising an eyebrow. "Huh, never knew he had any dating experience before he met you."

Starfire doesn't look like she particularly wants to discuss that aspect of this, and fortunately, Troia doesn't pry.

"She contacted Robin to let him know that the Bane has come to Jump City," Starfire continues. "He has asked her for assistance in combating these gangs, and in finding the Brother Blood."

>>A. "She must be good if Robin trusts her to do all of that."

>>B. "You know, I'd really like to meet Batman someday."

"She must be good if Robin trusts her to do all of that," you remark, wondering how one person is going to accomplish so much, even if they are good with information.

"Robin speaks very highly of her abilities," Starfire assures you. "He does not know if she'll be able to do everything we hope, but he is confident that she'll be able to help us."

"Well, that's good enough for me," Troia says. "A little help sounds nice."

"Indeed," Starfire agrees, offering a smile that seems somewhat forced. "Now, if you will please excuse me, I am going to see how I may assist Robin."

Starfire makes her way to the doors, leaving you alone with Donna. This seems like a perfect opportunity to ask her if she'll help you in training your powers. Hopefully your help won't be needed right away.

"Hey, Donna, would you be willing to help me train my powers?" you ask your dark-haired friend.

"Sure, Pete," she tells you, sounding intrigued. "It seems like we have time to kill. Just make sure you don't overdo it, in case you're needed later."

The two of you make for the doors, and begin walking toward the training room. There should be plenty of room there for the two of you to work, and, if this turns out to be a dud, you can do some normal training.

"So, what are we going to be doing?" she asks as you walk.

"I want to try holding you," you tell her, which results in her stopping dead in her tracks.

You turn to face her, surprised to see just how surprised she seems by what you just said. She knows about this power, right? She's seen you use it before.

"That's-" she starts before clearing her throat. "..forward. Bold of you. I respect that, but I don't see what it has to do with your powers."

What does she mean? Forward? Bold? Unrelated to your-oh. Oooooh. Yeah, you probably could have phrased that better than you did. She interpreted that entirely the wrong way.

"No, I-I mean, I want to test my psychic ability to restrain people on somebody really strong," you clarify, hoping that your face hasn't gone as red as your costume.

Donna crosses her arms. "That makes more sense. Alright, I'll help you with that, but like I said, don't push yourself too hard. We've got Robin and the others looking into some potentially dangerous things, and having you tired to the point of passing out won't do us any good."

The two of you enter the training room, and Donna immediately leaps across to the other side, standing there with her hands on her hips, waiting for you to get things started. She doesn't give you any warnings not to crush her, or anything like that. If anything, she looks somewhat excited by this training exercise.

Holding a hand out to her, you let the sensation of righteous fury build within you. Having nothing in front of you as a source of this emotion, you think back to Blood and all that he's done, and what's he's planning to do. He intends to hurt you, your friends, and possibly everyone on Earth.

A red glow surrounds Donna as your mind attempts to force her to stay right where she is. You see Donna's arms begin to twitch a little bit, then she takes a step forward, then another, then another, soon beginning a casual stroll across the floor toward you.

>A. Just keep at what you're doing

Getting angrier won't do you any good. You've brought all the righteous fury you have to try and restrain Donna. And, you don't want to gamble with letting yourself tap into your more savage anger, especially not where a friend is concerned.

Anger isn't enough to stop Donna, it seems. If you want to slow her down, you're going to need to use sheer willpower. You muster every bit of it you can find, and notice the light around Donna briefly turn green, then flash back to red, then to green, then to red, before finally seeming to settle on yellow.

Now, Donna slows, soon stopping altogether in the face of your renewed efforts. You see her body twitch once again as she struggles to overcome your hold, but it looks like you've really got her this time. Soon, the struggling stops altogether, and she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath.

At first, you wonder if she's giving up, and that means you should let her go. But as soon as she opens her eyes, you know that this is far from over. The two of you lock eyes, and you can see a fierce determination burning within hers. That competitive spirit of hers is compelling her to continue fighting, and refusing to let her admit defeat to you.

You watch as she slowly lifts one, shaking leg, and uses it to take a single step forward. She seems to hunch forward as soon as her foot touches the ground, but after some struggle manages to stand tall again, forcing herself to take another step forward, with her leg a little less wobbly, and her posture not suffering so much. She takes another step, with seemingly less effort than the previous two, then another that takes less effort than that.

Every competitive bone in your body is screaming for you to keep fighting, keep pushing, to beat Donna in this clash of wills. But, somewhere in that noise, your rational mind is telling you that it would be a bad idea to use up so much of your energy right now. You'll just have to settle this another day.

Admitting defeat for the moment, you stop holding Donna, which somehow causes the girl to go into a split mid-step, giving you a good indicator that she was pushing that leg with a lot of force.

"I give," you tell her, stifling any sort of laugh as she curses and gets back up. "We've both got more in us, but I don't want to wipe myself out in case the others need backup. But, I definitely want to try this again."

"Yeah, you gave me a real workout, but I guess I've got you beat in stamina," she teases, stretching a bit now that she's free of your mental force. "We'll have to try this again when there's more downtime."

She walks over to the room's refrigerator, taking out a bottle of water and tossing it over to you before grabbing one for herself.

"Your powers are definitely strong," your friend tells you after gulping down some water. "I'm not sure what changed near the end there, but whatever it was, it gave me a lot more of a challenge than I was expecting."

She quickly gulps down what's left of the water, then tosses the bottle into the recycling bin.

"Nah, they're fine," you tell her. "I guess we should just relax until we hear something."

"I guess you're right," Troia says, though she does not seem overly pleased. "Not much we can do for Robin and Starfire besides distract them, and trying to call the others right now would be a bad idea. I'm just feeling kind of worked up....like I really want to fight something!"

Just then, Robin's voice comes over the tower's intercom system. "Crimson! Troia! Meet us in the living room right away, we've got trouble!"

"Looks like I'm getting my wish," Donna remarks, though there's some concern mixed in with the humor.

The two of you dash down the halls and enter the living room, where Robin has an image of the Jump City Maximum Security Correctional Facility on the big screen.

"What's going on?" Donna asks as the two of you join with Robin and Starfire.

"Someone's breaking into the prison," Robin explains. "No identification of the person in charge yet, but there's reports of multiple intruders."

"Don't people normally try to break out of prison?" Donna questions.

"We've had this happen before," Robin tells her as the image disappears. "They were breaking in to break somebody else out."

"That seems unlikely," Robin tells you, getting up from his chair. "He's had more than enough time to talk if he was going to, and some low-level dealer like him couldn't do much damage on his own."

The large screen rises up, and Robin turns to look out the window, staring across the bay at the massive city beyond. The sun is shining off the water, and the view is beautiful, a stark contrast to all of the violence going on within the city limits.

"There are hundreds of dangerous criminals locked up in that prison," he points out, frustration in his voice. "Not to mention more than a couple of super-villains. Plasmus, Overload, Cinderblock, Doctor Light, Control Freak, Mad Mod, Mumbo, and even more. They could recruit them into their gang, or just cause chaos across the city."

"Then what are we waiting for?" Donna asks. "There's no time to scout or wait for more information. We need to get down there and put a stop to this!"

Robin tenses up. "I was hoping we'd hear from the others by now. To be honest, I'm worried about them."

Starfire gently places a hand on his shoulder. "Robin, we must have faith in our friends. We must trust that they will be alright, and do what we must to defend the city."

"I can go check on the others while you three go to the prison," you suggest.

"I'm worried about the others, too," Donna says. "But weakening our ability to deal with an emergency because of fear? I don't like it."

"I can call up Rose and have her meet you there," you suggest.

"Alright, get going," Robin orders, already heading for the doors. "As soon as things are under control at the storage lot, get to the prison as fast as you can. There's no telling who we're dealing with here."

Starfire and Troia follow him out of the room, leaving you alone to deal with the mission you've just volunteered yourself for. Pulling out your communicator, you call Rose, her face greeting you on the screen after a few moments.

"Hey," she greets. "What's up?"

"The others?" she questions, sounding worried now. "What are-alright, I'll leave for the prison now. Good luck."

The call ends, and you rush out of the living room, moving as fast as you can toward your friends at the storage lot.

Random thought, with the introduction of Will = Green.

What will each of these be?
Avarice/Orange? = ?
Will/Green = Telekinesis?
Hope/Blue? = ?
Compassion/Indigo? = Healing?
Love/Violet? = ?
>>
>>2375022
Maybe:
Green -> Red is TK, so I don't know.
Orange -> Sap energy
Blue ->Empower
Indigo -> Heal
Violet -> Empath
Yellow -> Barriers right?
>>
>>2375055
I see Red as 'offense'. Punch, Push, Crush, Hold. All of those are about imposing our will on people. We really haven't tested them on objects.

And yes, Yellow = Barriers.

I like the idea of Orange as sap energy, and I also like the idea of Empath being one of the emotional powers as opposed to being a sort of base power, though I think it fits Indigo/Compassion better than Violet/Love.
>>
>>2375091
Oh yeah, could switch those two. And Rage/Will as two sides of the same coin sound interesting.

Feeling a little better knowing that your friends at the prison are going to have some back-up, you make your way toward the storage lot by air, moving as quickly as you can to make sure the three that were sent to investigate are okay. Traveling by air, you move much faster than you could hope to on foot, and use up a lot less energy than you would by trying to teleport that far. You may not be as swift as the girls, but you still think you could outrun Beast Boy's cheetah form.

With no traffic to slow you down, and with you being able to fly over buildings rather than take streets to get around them, you reach the storage lot quickly, noting that there's no sign of any police cars, or that anything is actually amiss here.

You know which unit the gang is supposed to be using for drug distribution. The only question is how you want to proceed in your approach. You could fly right to it, and hope nobody spots you, walk around the storage lot, which is likely to draw almost as much suspicion due to your costume. Or, you can try teleporting there, though you don't know anything about the inside of these units, which might make the process trickier.

Or, you could go to the front desk and ask if anything odd's going on. Maybe you'll get lucky.

You're feeling a little lucky, so why not see if the employees here are feeling chatty and cooperative? Floating down to the sidewalk, you make your way to the front entrance of the lot, opening the doors and finding yourself in a mostly empty room, with plastic chairs lining the walls, and a desk at the far end, with a somewhat heavy-set man with a messy beard sitting behind it.

His nose is stuck in a magazine, so he doesn't know you're coming. Or, perhaps he does, but just doesn't care. Whatever he's reading in....'Heroic Hotties Monthly', classy, it must have his attention. Even when you're standing right in front of his desk, he doesn't look up, he just turns the page of his magazine, going on reading as if you aren't even there.

You clear your throat, and his eyes shift from the pages of his magazine to look at you. He still doesn't lower his reading material, and frankly looks somewhat annoyed at being disturbed.

"What do you want, kid?" he asks. "It's not Halloween, and we don't hold costume parties here. You got some actual business here?"

If Vic is a customer here, he might have dealt with the guy before, and he doesn't seem super observant so he probably didn't see our friends unless they happened to stop at the front desk too.
>>
>>2375873
This I guess.
>>
>>2375819
Thinking for a moment on what to ask, you decide to question him about the supposed leader of this operation, 'Vic'. Asking if anything suspicious is going on seems like it could potentially backfire, and asking specifically about gangs probably won't do you too many favors. If your friends are here, people knowing you're looking for them could be a problem. But, if you ask a name, say, someone who could be a customer, that might get you somewhere.

"Do you know a 'Vic' by any chance?" you ask the man, hoping he'll cooperate.

"I know a lot of people," the man answers, turning his attention back to his magazine.

Alright, plan B. You take a twenty dollar bill and set it on the desk in front of the man, making it obvious enough so that he can see it from behind his magazine. You slide it toward him and start speaking again.

"I'd be really grateful if you'd help me out," you tell him, taking your hand off the money and leaving it for him to claim.

One of his hands comes from behind the magazine and grabs the twenty, pulling it off of the desk. He still doesn't put his stupid thing down, but he at least gives you an answer this time.

"Vic? Yeah, I know her," he tells you. "Real looker. Got some weird taste in fashion, but definitely got a body to pull it off."

Well, that's some information, you guess, and a thing or two that might be useful. Vic's a woman, that's one thing. She apparently dresses oddly, which could mean either a gang member, or some costumed criminal.

"What else can you tell me about her?" you ask the man, wondering if he has any more information that might be valuable.

"How much is it worth to you?" is all he says in return.

Another bribe, then. You pull out another twenty and place it on his desk, steadily feeling more relieved that Rose isn't here with you right now, for this guy's sake. You may have a vicious streak, but she can be quicker to fly off the handle. And with this guy's attitude, and his taste in literature, you think she'd probably be clobbering him right now.

The man once again takes the bribe, reaching out and retrieving the money you've placed on his desk before speaking to you again.

"She's blonde, got a British accent," he tells you, turning the page of his magazine. "Carries herself like she's a damn queen. Kind of hot, if you ask me. She has a unit here, in case you haven't pieced that together yet. Not sure what she keeps there, and no, I don't care."

"Thanks," you tell the man, turning and starting for the door.

"Oh no, kid," he calls after you as you leave. "Thank you."

Back out on the sidewalk, you see that nothing's changed. No sign of police, or armed thugs, or your fellow Titans. Part of you wants to call them, but you decide that doing so might put them at some serious risk. That isn't something you want to do, so you go in blind, slipping into the lot and navigating your way toward the unit you and Rose got from that drug dealer.

You pass a set of units, rounding the corner of the structure, only for someone to grab you by the shoulder and pin you to the wall. You get ready for a fight, only to see the face of Cyborg right in front of you.

He puts a finger to his lips, telling you to keep quiet as he looks around nervously. Then, he grabs you by the arm and holds his free arm up over his head. You watch as his hand shoots out with some kind of wire following behind it, and a moment later, the two of you are lifted off the ground and up to the roof. Once the two of you are safely up top, and Cyborg's had another look around, he finally starts talking.

"There was a break-in at the prison," you inform him, really wishing that particular event had happened at any other time. "They sent me while they went to deal with it."

"Just the two of us then, huh?" Cyborg asks, giving a grim chuckle. "Guess that makes sense. We sort of started this whole thing together, only seems right that we finish it the same way."

His right arm transforms into his sonic cannon. "What do you say, Crimson? Ready to go whoop some butt?"

>A. "Always." (Go in there guns-blazing and kick some bad-guy booty).

>B, "Let's get on the roof and blast through the ceiling."

>C. "Grab onto me. I'll teleport them in there, and we can catch them off-guard."

>D. "Let's try drawing them out of that storage unit so we have more room to fight."

If we draw most of them out first, we might have a chance to teleport in with Cy and easily free the hostages and get Beast Boy and Raven back in the fight.

The bad guys will assume no one's stupid enough to just barge in, that's why this plan is GENIUS!
>>

"Always," you tell him, getting pumped for a fight. Donna mentioned wanting to hit something, well now you're feeling the same thing, and it looks like you're going to be perfectly able to indulge yourself in this moment.

Cyborg leads the way, and the two of you make haste to the unit in question, which you quickly notice is missing its door, probably courtesy of your super-strong friend here. Why the occupants of said unit decided to stick around is unclear, but the gunfire that greets you sends a strong message that the place is not empty.

Putting up the strongest barrier you can to give the two of you cover, you rush toward the door at top speed, relieved that the sudden appearance of your psychic construct seems to have flabbergasted your foes enough to make them temporarily cease firing. That doesn't lat very long, though, and you find yourself staggering as bullets pound into your barrier, with you just barely able to keep them from breaking through.

>A. Put all your willpower into maintaining that barrier! You will not let these bullets harm you or your friend!

>B. Grab hold of Cyborg and teleport the rest of the way

>C. Drop the barrier and run for cover

This probably won't go very well if we end up using all our willpower just for defense.
>>
>>2376516
Okay, the power of bullets appears to be slightly stronger than your fear. That's fine, Donna was stronger than your anger, but you managed to give her one heck of a difficult time moving. You just need the right amount of willpower.

You put everything you have into keeping that barrier going, letting fear step aside and make room for raw willpower to join in. The barrier briefly turns a dark green, then flashes back to yellow, then green, then yellow, then settles on a yellowish-green mix. Now, when the bullets come, you're able to stop them dead.

Still, you don't know how long you can keep this up.

"Cy, I could use a little help here!" you shout over your shoulder.

Cyborg briefly steps out from behind you, leaving the safety of the shield just long enough to fire a blast from his sonic cannon into the storage unit. The blast impacts within the structure as a single person leaps out just in time to avoid being struck.

She's a woman, blonde-haired, with a gray mask covering her upper-face. She's dressed in a tight, red outfit that shows a considerable amount of...well, it's like the plunging neckline in Donna's outfit, only less conservative. She's got a yellow belt with a variety of weapons stashed in it, from knives, to grenades, to guns, you even see a sword.

"So, I was right," she remarks in a sort of upper-class British accent. "You came back, and you brought a little friend. This day just keeps getting better."

>>A. "Most criminals aren't happy to see the Teen Titans."

>>B. "Where are our friends?"

>C. Drop the barrier and hit her with a psychic attack

>D. Drop the barrier and try to restrain her

>E. Keep the barrier up and start throwing psychic attacks

As this strange woman speaks, you rearrange the barrier a bit, trying to give her less ability to maneuver and attack an unprotected spot. Meanwhile, you gesture for Cyborg to do the talking, hoping that the two of you can handle this, and save the people that are being held prisoner.

Lets meet Alan Scott.
>>
Guess the chart needs to be updated now.
>>
>>2376786
Sure. What do you think stands out that needs changing?
>>
>>2376791
Barbara Gordon/Oracle and Lady Vic need to be included now, right?
>>
>>2376813
Sure, though Lady Vic is already on the chart (as just Vic).

Also, I though that this was a Burning Blizzard stash, but historically Lady Vic has been associated with Block Buster. Did I misunderstand something, or is that exactly the predicament we find ourselves in?
>>
>>2376825
That remains to be seen
>>
>>2376825
Could be they're working together.

Could be Vic was working for Blockbuster but pretending to work for Snowflame, as a double agent in their gang war.

Could be she just decided to work for Snowflame this time.

Or even something else we haven't even considered, so many alternatives

>>

Hehe. Yeah. On my own I take a fairly paranoid approach to considering all the possibilities, and a group of any size is basically a render farm. The bigger the group and the more time they have the more likely the are to arrive at accurate conclusions.

But yeah, I don't think anyone called anything resembling the new theories >>2376844
has put forth.

Also, I have a large Raven folder. I have one particular cute image I'll post if she wins the Peterbowl. In the meantime, an unrelated one.
