We have the probe to launch, and we still haven’t learned Tanis’ unique spell tricks, and then there’s the dinner tonight where we need to interrogate the chef about legendary Orc recipes to find one which provides XP boosts.

With our approval, the lab team decides to assemble the probe. It will take a day to check everything is working properly, then we'll launch.

With this, we go back to take our shift at piloting the ship, and then dress up for the dinner with Lyann.

And so, we [Treestride] back to Alquia after picking up Aritsu, then explain to her and Mako that we're taking them out for dinner, and why.

"Ah... as a forest elf, I am not that great with sea food, so..." - she looks at Lyann for a moment - "Plus, Mako also needs to work on her music lessons, right?"
"But... I finished work for today." - says our cute black haired empress - "I want to go with Eldric and Lyann..."

Mako nods happily, and for some reason, Aritsu gives a look to Lyann before letting out a sigh and agreeing

"Hey, what about me?!" - Dawn gets up from the large bean bag couch she was lying in next to the bed.

[Shaper] - You can change the shape of AoE effects freely between lines, cones, circles, or squares. The point of origin does not change, however.

That means that a fireball turned intop a cone doesnt becomes a 200" cone, it is a 30" cone, starting from the spot a fireball would normally explode at.

[Isolating] - Change an AoE into a single target spéll that deals its damage an extra time for each enemy around the target.

Uhmm... I wonder if we can get immediate use for any of these? For now, we'll have to practice them, which will take a couple of evenings first.

This is an RPG world running on RPG logic (HP is a real thing, you literally can’t hold weapons you’re not supposed to equip, can’t move to attack if your attacks are up for the turn).
[ERROR]’s are sort of like computer program bugs made physical, and they’re trying to invade from a portal in the sky.
We’re trying to send dimensional probes to figure them out, and free the people they’ve captured.
We’re working on creating a coordinated international response, but still keeping this knowledge secret from the public to prevent mass panic.
Our grandfather was gambling everything on his idea of supercharging the only remaining shield generator to not only expand the shield bubble when the [ERROR] Army attacks, but to make it contact the portal, because he thinks that will close it. Our family’s majordomo, who is a retired demigod (apparently it was a job you can retire from) has been helping our family with this for the past 10,000 years.

Problems: no evidence the shield could actually close the portal. Will definitely burn out and be unusable. Is the only shield generator left, no spare parts.
Tapac, the majordomo, and our grandfather spent the last 40 years on this plan of theirs instead of looking for the blueprints, making a new shield generator, figuring out how to repair or build new lightning ballista that we only have 4 left operational, and otherwise being useless.

We choose a floor table, and the waiter guides us to a large table in the terraza, We have a nice view of the city at night, as well as the harbor in the distance.

The city lights are quite soft, giving the landscape a golden glow, yet sadly strong enough to dull the star's shine.

There is a small band playing music live, though I guess in this world, things like records are not an option yet, after all.

As intended, we order sea food, though we ask for some red meat dishes for Aritsu. Well, we force her to try some sea food, and she seems to like it, so we trade her dish for our own.

It would be a shame if she missed on a new experience, and we have had sea food plenty of times before.

Uh... I wonder if its alright for the girls to have wine? Legally speaking, only Mako and ourselves are minors according to this world's laws, so I guess everyone else is okay...

Ah, its just a few months, but I think I'll make sure Mako sticks to fruit juice for now.

The dishes are, as expected, quite amazing, and we are happy to find that Lyann reports the salad has an exp boost effect, which fulfills one objective.

Specifically, find out if meals could be prepared that enhanced exp gain.

Ah, but the effect only lasts for 2 hours... Well, in the dungeon, we can pause and pull some out from [Inventory] so technically is not a problem?

Now we need to find how to prepare [Runic][Saha´s Salad]. Looking at it through our ring tells us what it is, but not the ingredients.

It does seem to have some sort of meat, though it is very little. The vegetables appear to be mostly ... I have no idea. They're colorful but have been carefully cut into thin, long slices, so I don't know what they looked like, normally, and looking at them through the ring only tells me [Saha's Salat] again.

Well, the cream is also delicious, as is the entry and the main dish. Dessert is some glassed fruits and we are brought a small mint drink "for digestion."

Its pretty strong, but its good. Uh... I wonder if you could even count it as alcohol? It was really REALLY small.

Anyway, we have a fun time chatting with the girls during dinner, and learn that Mako has been sleeping while hugging Dawn while we're gone.

Instead of tattoos or scarring, since its a magical setting, how about magica ink that turns bodypaint into something semi permanent_ It can be erased with a specific spell afterwards.

If we make armor 'tattoos,' in order to balance them out against armor, they have to cost the same, and be just as hard to get. Could add magical ink as drops -instead of- armor in some regions. And of course, they don't stack with armor.

Otherwise, how about giving them minor but useful every day life abilities, like for example a paint- tattoo over the chest, covering the heart, gives resistance or immunity to fear. One on the legs helps against paralysis or stun, one on the back enhances strenght or resistance, facial paint adds night vision or the abikity to sniff things out like a hound. In that idea, a paint over the womb would be either for a safe and easy pregnancy, or as protection against pregnancy, or to help choose the number and/por gender of the babies.

I think that those aren't bad ideas, suggestions of 'tattoos' based on those?
