Left, right, JAB. The sound of metal on metal rings out, and the bot’s head snaps back as Jago’s blow connects. He stumbles back a tad, but- that’s already too late. In a blur of motion Prima slips behind him, a single foot placed just so in order to throw him off balance and her razor-tipped fingers jab into the back of the joint of the bot, nearly severing it clean off. He doesn’t let up, however, and his shield swing around to catch Prima in the side- he doesn’t hit flush, but it’s enough to make her back off- and it leaves him open.

“Now! Hook him!” Jago’s quick to comply, and his rusty hook captures the knight’s left leg, and with a swift tug brings him down. Prima is already there with her nails to his ‘throat’. “I suggest you surrender.”

“Perhaps...that would be best,” Exor admits. “I yield.”

“Then I would call this training exercise an excellent success!” you boast, fully suited and fired up. “The Arhu Arms shall be ours by nightfall!”

Hello, bot battlers, and welcome back to Magical Girl For Hire Quest! We are currently playing as Lorelei Vedder, effervescent magical girl extraordinaire, who's currently playing the role of elite minion (SHATTERLIGHT, THE BURNING or something you still need to work that out) for a rather rich man in a world full of competitive miniature robot battling. You’ve been assigned to gather up some supposedly rather powerful Minibot parts, known as the Arhu parts; experimental, but still valuable. You’ve managed to hijack the Arhu Legs, after a bit of trouble- but that means the arms are next.

You spent the last few days keeping a low profile as you prepared for the move to Blossom City. A bit of research about the VIPs and their bots along with some general rest and recuperation to restore your mana (you’re actually STILL not fully recovered, but at least there was SOME mana in this world) did wonders for your attitude. To the point where you had decided that it was high time you have gotten in some specialty training.

Mr. King had managed to use his considerable clout to convince them to still hold the parts on display, although he couldn't convince them to put them out for exhibition like originally planned. Instead, as he told you, the parts were intended to be simply displayed behind a transparent case, in an area cordoned off for the public. Apparently the logic there was that no one would be so brazen as to steal it in front of everyone- or if they did, they’d not get far. It was...understandable, at least.

But, you’d been preparing ever since you heard that.

Aside from improving your commanding abilities, you’d had to deal with some other things, too. You didn't want them to immediately think that you were suspicious, so once you’d been cleared to leave, you'd been ‘hanging out’ with Kyo and Tooru and Nia a bit. They seemed to be happy to have you, but you kept yourself quiet and largely out of the way when it came to dealing with them. Fortunately, you managed to learn a few things about the lot of them, too.

Kyo was brash, hotheaded- really, you seen his type of million times before and you'll probably see them a million times after. Loved his friends and family, parents apparently died in some sort of big accident a few years ago and he was taken in by his grandfather. Typical sob story. Apparently he’d always been interested in battling, and even taken part in some battles with ‘rental bots’, but he’d just gotten Zero as a birthday gift from his grandfather.

Tooru was...well, the would be ladies man. Apparently, he sincerely was rather smart when it came to technical aspects of battling, however his practical experience by all example was a bit lacking- especially when fighting pretty women. He was riding high after his victory in the tournament, and wouldn’t shut up about it, though.

Nia was a gentle sort, outspoken when need be, but otherwise content to let the boys do their thing and make sure they didn't go crazy. She was the one who seemed to try to open you up the most, but you knew enough tricks to keep her at arm's length. You’d convinced her before long that you just enjoyed battling for the chance to get stronger, and hinted at some wane past that made her tear up, but agree to not press you on it.

And then there was Prima and Jago. Prima desperately needed her new shell- and she’d gotten it, at your request. As for the new look, however, it turned out to be:

>A variant called Prima Excelsis; a mostly hot pink variation of her normal look that had thicker shoulders, her bow replaced by a surgeons cap, and her wide dress replaced with leggings that resembled scrubs, down to thicker boots. It was pretty basic, but you liked how Prima generally looked, and didn't want to change that.

>A different look called Prima Nocturne- deep blue, almost black look that made her resemble a plague doctor in medieval Europe, complete with the infamous mask. It split apart to reveal her normal face, at least, when in stanby mode, and rested on her shoulders as large pauldrons to a ‘cape’ of sorts. Looked nice and gruesome.

>A stylish look called Prima Tsuki. This was a largely white look that had her torso dress resemble something of a kimono, with elongated fingers and her legs nearly covered entirely. On the back of it was a very stylish painting of a crane. Prima had insisted that the longer shell chassis didn’t elopement capabilities in any way whatsoever.

And Jago, you’d considered getting him a new part, at least. For him, you’d figured on-

>The Shark Tooth, an Arm attachment to replace the Crunch Grip. It didn't cripple the opponent, but it was faster to come out and could be used in close quarters, since it was basically an arm surrounded by razor sharp teeth. (-5 to Engage, strong damage guaranteed)

>Accelerator Cannon, a long-range gun Arm that fired rather rapidly, but you have to admit didn't hit very hard. Still, it could be used for suppression or to scare someone. (+5 to Engage, Light Damage)

>Hermes Legs, a leg set that claimed to boast a mode that could increase any bot’s ground speed to at least double what it was normally. It was silver colored and had wings on the ankles, natch. (+10 to Engage)

Although her primary frame was the same, you were pretty sure that she wouldn't be recognizable with THAT new shell at a glance. Jago was just enjoying the new speed he had- far more reliable and controllable than jump jets, and he was chortling at ‘all tha’ runnin’ down I kin do now!’ although you'd kept the old legs just in case. Prima’s original shell would be kept back in the tower.

However, at last, you’d taken off for Blossom City. First-class flight, natch.

The wine was EXCELLENT. Jago was buffed and shine to a mirror finish, as was Prima, who seemed to be very into her new shell.

When you’d arrived, you...well, you're actually a bit surprised. just judging from the name you would expect at the place to be a very well kept, high-class city with a lot of skyscrapers and well-to-do people walking around, and all that. What you got instead was a smog-choked, kinda dirty metropolis that seemed jam-packed with people. You have the luxury of riding in a limo, so you didn't have to deal with the foot traffic on your way to the hotel, but it seemed absolutely claustrophobic out there.

Yuri Stadium, as you might’ve guess, was lily white... Or at least it was clearly supposed to be underneath all the dust. It's actually a smaller venue than the arena, just looking at it from a distance, and judging by the map and pictures. It also seemed to have a retractable roof, one less floor and smaller parking areas...oof.

You only have less than a day to do any scouting if you want to. Not that you don't actually know where the thing will be, thanks to the brochure you managed to request. Second floor, room 12. Two entrances, if the picture was accurate. Plain as day. Just...trying to get to the thing is gonna be SUUUPER annoying. If only there was a way to snag it before it made it...

>Might as well take a look around the stadium. Couldn't hurt!

Maybe compare the difficulty level of stealing it before or after it arrives, if we have any way of finding out how/when it's transported, and the amount of guards there will be during transport and after

2nd floor? Try to get into the corresponding room of the first floor. And the basement.
Calculate the location of the display case. Be ready to cut/punch corresponding holes and have a truck parked ready to haul away the display case when it lands.

The more you think about it, the more you realize that trying to steal that thing once it’s in the building is probably going to be a losing proposition. Especially if they bring it after the place opens. If you could steal it before it got there though, then that would be pretty much ideal. It would take a bit to figure out when and how it would show up, though... Unless you wanted to stay out all night. Which...you GUESS you could do, but that would still be risky if anyone saw you, most likely.

If you want it to be precise about it though, you could see when it was coming in if you know who to look for...maybe take them over, and...yeah! That could certainly be an option. Wouldn't take a ton of research, either. Just a test of will. Hide somewhere where no one will notice you, and then it would simply be a matter of walking the parts to a place that you can pick up later. If you were careful about it, no one would have any explanation for how or why aside from accusing your patsy.

But those were just the first two options you could think of. There’s bound to be more if you’re clever with your tools…

>Wait outside and patrol the stadium- then ambush them! You’ll have to be careful that no one sees you or anything.
>Find the right man to possess, and get them to hand deliver the parts to you (or at least to a place easily retrievable by you)

The problem is that it cost us 500 mana to split out of our body and 1000 mana to possesses someone. And a concious driver will be hard to deal with. But i do agree that grabbing the part during it's transit would be a better move. And apparently we recover 500 mana per day.
>>
There is also the fact that we will have to go after at least two more pieces after this and we wouldn't know how much time we habe to rest before the other parts come to be displayed.
>>
>>2400621
arent all the pieces here though?
>>
>>2400571
Thinking about it, having someone deliver it to you is starting to sound more and more attractive. But that means that you're going to have to do a little bit of research in order to figure out just who’s probably going to be there and what they look like, if you want an optimum target. Pft. ‘Optimum target’. Wonder if you're channeling Miranda a little bit too much.

Ah well. Time to see who your lucky soul might be…

As you reel back from the guest laptop, you groan in annoyance. You couldn't find an image of anyone obviously interesting- a few names, and an assistant operations coordinator that gave a quote, but aside from that no one particularly useful. Assistant operations manager is better than nothing, though. Looking at the time, it's nightfall, and you'd be surprised if there were too many individuals still at the stadium, so that’s out.

Before you can let the annoyance faster too much however, you hear gentle footsteps from behind you- Prima, when you turn around. “Excuse me, Miss, is your research complete?”

“Yup. Nothing too good. Might have to just play with the hand I was dealt with.” You just shrug. You’ve had to deal with worse, at least.

“If I might ask, Miss...will you be well, tomorrow?” Hm?

You can't help lifting an eyebrow in curiosity at that one. “What do you mean by that?”

“During the last...event, you seemed to intentionally fall unconscious for a period of time. I i'm unaware of the intention of that strategy, and it could be dangerous to your health were this to repeat.” Ohhhh. That. Man, talk about timing. Although thinking about it, you wonder if Prima is the same as that Gargant. It seemed like it was less capable of emoting than her, and that may have been a factor, but...who knows?

“I’ll be fine, don’t you worry!” you assure her before you head to bed. Either way, you need sleep. You’re waking up bright and early tomorrow, since you've got places to be and parts to steal!

>That'll do it for today. I might try to do one-time posts throughout the week, but of course, no promises. Next full run being Friday, as usual!

>>
>>2400857
Awesome!

I hope we get an opportunity to posses again and make an easy steal....
I'm not entirely aware how the mana cost around that ability works, but if it would be cheaper to use it on two different people in succession, then I'd like an opportunity to posses Prima as well, see if we can "awaken" her
>>

Holy shit I've finally caught up to here. Some questions have been egging my mind for awhile:

1. What is the daily mote expenditure for the girls?

2. The intersection seems to have only been developed for the past few centuries. Where were the deal makers before then?

3. When entering a plane, are we simply spatially displaced or is time travelling involved at times?

I have a feeling that if we manage to dig out Miranda's backstory we could unlock another super move.

And a question to fellow anons: would using feathertouch on our bots be useful?
>>
>>2400915
I feel bad for big boy. Sentience can be quite a overload if you aren't used to it. Also king things he will get the next gen of bot bu Aiba corp will have developed true AI.

Seems fitting that his hubris will be the end of his empire.
>>
>>2401041

>3. When entering a plane, are we simply spatially displaced or is time travelling involved at times?
seems like we are spatially displaced. From the intersection's perspective, all the other worlds go either very fast or very slow.
>I have a feeling that if we manage to dig out Miranda's backstory we could unlock another super move.
would she? Miranda already knows her backstory, its just that is blocked to us.
>And a question to fellow anons: would using feathertouch on our bots be useful?
maybe? i really don't see an scenario that could help us, since the robots are very light(for lorelei) and we are at all costs trying to avoid confrontation. But if we need to topple a heavy mech like the gargant, it could be a godsend.
>>
>>2401073
From the few interludes I am guessing that she still has a few tricks up her sleeve from her old days.

Which brings me to lorelei as well. Does she still remember the song of time? Could be very useful with a duet with mono.
>>
>>2401614
Song of time? What are you talking about?
>>
>>2402732
It's a fan theory that like Miranda Lori erased herself from her timeline. And she did it by playing/dancing the song of time. That's why she end up in the intersection because she removed herself from her world but she Lori continued to exist.
>>
>>2402782
Oh. Dang. I've been flipping back and forth trying to catch up. Didn't see anything about that yet. This whole setting seems fairly innocent on the outside, but the more you delve into it the more it's fucked up.
>>
>>2402801
It's not something that is written and more what you cab gather from the girls social life. See in this one about Lori she used to have a sister who tried to follow her around but Lori, as any other older sister always got annoyed by it.

Miranda has the biggest reveal when she goes to Owlya and Cylica's world were she spits to a fellow outgoer how hard it's to be a magic girl, the secrecy, the paranoia of not wanting to put people in danger and the fact that slowly you can thrust in just a group of people who also share your secret. That part reveal that Miranda used to be in a group of magical girls and she Miranda moost likely did a Meduka and erased herself because either all of her friends died or she couldn't bare all this stress anymore.

Azumi used to be a demon hunter (as she stated it's something she used to do in her world) and she was also the less jaded/sociopathic of the group.

My personal head canon is that.

Miranda and her entire group got whipped out but Randa managed to touch some kind if power that allowed her to restore everything but her Miranda wouldn't be able to exist in her world anymore (then Sal showed up and offered her a deal.)

Lori was actually the magical girl antagonist and her sister was the heroine magical girl. But Lori ended up regretting everything she had done and decided to erase all her evil by dancing/singing out of time (then while she was desperate in the void Sal showed up and gave her a contract)

And Azumi i believe she would have 'holded the line' but ended up being overhelmed by whatever she was figthing and was dying from blood loss (then sal showed up and offered her a deal to go to the intersection)
>>
>>2402823
Either that or izumi went Doomguy in hell. Sal picks her up from the void that is the underworld.
>>
>>2403075
If I recall correctly she also called herself an angel once, although I dont remember if it was being metaphorical or literal.
>>
>>2403271
i think that was metaphorical, also i believe she was drunk at that time.

>, since you've got places to be and parts to steal!
The morning sun is...almost seeable. Still a lot of fog n’ smog, though. On the upside, it seems like rising with the sun isn't something that most of the citizens here do. The streets are quiet, and the sidewalks all are empty. Kind of a surprise considering there's supposed to be a big tournament today. But then again, you suppose that the stadium won't open for another couple hours. But, knowing how things usually work, that just means that the employees should be there early. Especially for a gig like this. And the reason for that…

Earlybirds. Sure enough, there's a few battlers out there just standing around in the parking lot, their bots casually interacting with each other or otherwise talking themselves up. None of them seem to have noticed you just yet.

Fuck.

Did you guys miss the part about "Going in disguise" and just making a big stink where since nobody knows who we are, we get booted up the line until we reach someone who SHOULD know who we are and therefore is someone who knows people?

Linking it to our main cover is bad because we don't know who will see us. After all we can mindwipe whoever we end up talking to, but we can't mindwipe everyone.

The thing is, we don't have any background to hold up to scrutiny, so we just make a background that can't be examined because it doesn't exist for the disposable persona.

By the time we reach someone who can call us out on it just not existing at all, we'll have penetrated to the level we're supposed to be at.

Maybe claim that we were supposed to have OUR new proto-type displayed and use our magic to fake something.

Or we could claim to be aggressively inspecting for allergens. I don't know, look up past scandals or something.

Or just show up with a shit-ton of tie-in merch and bitch about how there's nothing set up for it. Buy a bunch of bot-miniatures or something.

We just have to get to middle management and be able to mine them for information on who handles this sort of stuff and then that persona can never be seen again.
>>
>>2408359
i didn't miss it i was just talking about what we COULD HAVE done. Besides not like there is much to do there are some battlers here, hopefully no one will reconize us from the other competition and we can just try and sneak in.

Sneak in physicaly is possible sibce we know the lay out of the other stadium so security cameras won't be a problem. Only thing i can think it will cause trouble is if all the bot security is a bunch of gargant or if our bigboy managed to be instaled in the security crew again.

Because i don't know if in our ghost form we appear as Himawari or if we appeared to him as Shatterlight

Well, deep breath. You’re Himawari again- all around well-meaning, good-natured, clearly a bit skittish about the reality of battling, and on the whole kind of a hot mess. But, that just kinda gives you plenty of excuses. You take a look at Jago, who nods as you do. Time to get down to it.
Fortunately, it doesn't seem like anybody you know is out there so early. Which is good, sent it means you can observe people without getting sidetracked and still have it look like just simple curiosity.

For the first 20 or so minutes, everything seems relatively quiet. There's two battlers that seem to be in a particular argument over something, and they're yelling loudly enough that you can overhear a bit of it... And whatever it is, it seems to involve some ‘borrowed’ parts. Funny how that works out. But on the whole, you're relatively ignored…

... Save for an individual who seems to be pretty anxious, walking back and forth in front of the ticket booth. He’s a wiry young boy with a hairstyle that makes you think like he just stuck his hand in an electrical socket. With his frayed black jacket and thick rubber boots, you have to think that he's exposed to electricity a fair bit. That, and he’s probably sweating like a stuck pig. He doesn’t seem to have a bot with him, either. “H-hey! Lit- uh, light- uh, lightning! Ha!” Wait, what’s- “Uh,little girl! That’s what I meant!” Funky. And then he actually starts walking towards you. “Can you- can you come over here for a second, uh- nanosecond? PICTOsecond!” You...ha. Kind of want to laugh at him. He's funny. Weird, but funny.

“Oh, god, no, don’t,” another person says- a rougher, red headed looking girl, who looks for all the world like she should be in a biker gang and probably is. She’s got a thick, brown and bipedal bot that looks something like a boar with a buzzsaw for a top head of hair and thick, scary pincers. “Cause if you do, I’m gonna pop you one.”

“But she might want to know!” The shocked looking kid complains. “You can’t hide the reality of the ancients forever!”

“And she doesn’t really doesn't need any kind of crackpot theories! Get lost!” The girl says at him as she stands in front of you protectively.

>Entertain the scraggly haired kid. “No, no, it’s fine. What did you want?
>Listen to the redhead and start backing away. “Maybe we should, er, abscond elsewhere?

He’s kinda sketchy, but you find yourself waving away the redhead, much to her disbelief. “No, no, it’s fine. What did you want?

As soon as you get within range, he immediately he throws his arm around you like your best buddies. “E-ever had a flash of an idea- spark, circuit, buzz!? Yeah, any of that and you just HAD to follow through?”

Well… “Yeeees?” You said unsuredly.

“I’ve-I’ve had those, too. Signs- bright- neon, coursing! They’re in my head, they make me know things! Spirits of the ancients, times gone by, waiting to burst- uh, bang- uh, zap! Into our modern collective energies! Can you FEEL it? The tension- straining, struggling, right there!”

Yooooou... have no idea what he's talking about. At all. Sure, the context is obvious enough, that is, and knowing enough about worlds means he's probably not wrong, buuuut...yeah, no.

He seems to notice your look of confusion, and then he puts his OTHER hand on your shoulder, and you flinch a bit at some static electricity that zaps you. Really touchy-feely, this ki- wait a tic.

It’s then that you notice something about him- something...vaguely familiar. Not Outgoer, but…

Mana. That’s what it is.

It’s faint, hardly there. But you can sense it, draped over him like a shroud, emanating from him like he’s constantly outputting a charge

That's not something that you felt in anybody else yet. Wonder what’s so special about HIM…?

>Maybe you can investigate him later. “Nope, can’t say I have, sorry!” Right now, you should keep on the lookout! No getting distracted THIS time!

You can’t help yourself- the possibilities of what he might be talking about is enough for you to be interested. Who knows what good easy might have come across “I...guess you could say I have. What if it, y’know... pops?”

The man grins a slightly-too-toothy smile as he leans even closer to you. “Then revolution. The ancients will awaken from their corpse walk slumber- rest- sleep! They will be reborn yet again and stake claim over the world that they have always owned! They will take the worthy- promised- greater- within themselves and become a supreme whole!”

In a blur a movement, he leans in, to the point where you can smell his breath- not fun. “Are you worthy-”

“Okay, okay!” suddenly, a voice shouts out over the den and the both of you are distracted as you both look to order the source. A worker- not the same one that you met before, but a new one. She sits behind the booth, and leans back. “Alright, sign ins and tickets are open! Single-file, present your proof of competition for everyone that was in Round 1!”

Hm. You’re hopefully not going to have to do that this time. In fact, you should probably get going. You turn back to the boy- wha?

...He’s gone.

...No. No way.

He pulled a stealth exit on YOU?! And you didn’t NOTICE?

...Part of you is filled with shame for missing it. The other part of you is grossly offended and wants to find him and chew him out for it.

...Oh yeah, and the part that keeps reminding you that you need to find someone important to ‘convince’ in order to get closer to those parts early is still there.

Well, better to not overcomplicate things. Since you're so early, it doesn't exactly take you very long to get a ticket, and from there that also means that you’ve got enough time to look around without worrying about a ton of people milling around or in the stands or the sort. Although there's a lot of personnel around, by and large it's just the early birds, which there aren't a ton of, thank goodness.

It fortunately doesn't take too long before you see someone that might be worthwhile. Shorter fellow, but he's dressed in a nicely pressed, loud pink three piece suit, looking around at everything as though he's inspecting it all last second- which, hey, he might be. Lesse, he’s got a badge on him- oh. Floor Manager. Name; well, honestly you’ve kinda stopped caring at this point.

Yes. Yes, he’ll do nicely. You just need to follow him for a bit. Fortunately, despite the occasional turn that forces you to look around like you were lost, he doesn't bother to say anything when his eye catches yours- you simply give him a polite smile and a wave, which he returns- and he continues on with his clearly harried inspection.

This shouldn’t be too hard- ah, yup. There’s a bench nearby, nice little sun-lit spot.

Haaa...love it when a plan goes juuuust right. "Keep an eye out, Captain. I'm going to...take a little nap."

Your eyes are already closing as you focus yourself outwards. You barely hear the response. "Aye-aye. Good luck."

(Run will continue tomorrow! Nice rolls!)

Breath in...out...in…out…

In…

Out…

It's only slightly easier this time. but that's good enough for you right now. Just as you'd hoped, there’s no one in the immediate vicinity besides you and the target at the moment; no doubt going to change pretty darn fast as time goes on, so you've got to keep yourself moving quick. It's a quick skip to get back to him, and naturally he doesn't even realize when you pirouette, plie, and LEAP…

...ugh. This is much less interesting than being in a robot. Already you kind of feel squirmy and gross, and you haven't even properly taken control of him yet. He goes up to rub his head, but aside from that there's no indication that he's noticed your piggybacking.

Well, hopefully you got a little bit of breathing room since he was so close. You can at the very least see just where he's going for now.

He does the stop-and-start checking of several booths, and before very long he gets a call on a walkie-talkie. ‘FM, need you in section 8, repeat: FM section 8.’

He's quick to respond back. ‘On my way.’ and immediately turns around and head back down closer to you. you're not sure where he's going, but hopefully it'll lead into something good for you. And hopefully doesn't get too far away…

Fortunately, it seems like section 8 is upstairs, and not too far down the hallway. When he gets closer, there's a couple of other individuals passing be waiting for, both male and both looking a bit on the older side. One of them is well-dressed, long brown hair, and rectangular glasses, while the other has some white hair showing, but is dressed in a more casual outfit, but with a safety vest on. That, plus his work boots, cap, and armband tell you that that’s the Safety Manager. “Everything looking good?” Your ride asks.

They both nod. “All good on my end,” the safety man says primly.

“I wish we’d had time to go over some more checks,” the well-dressed man gripes. “This was cutting it FAR too close.”

“Schedule slips like this are annoying, but we're doing what we can,” your ride assures. “What’s the news?”

“VIPs and cargo should be here in about 10 minutes, and they apologize for the delay.” The Safety Manager says. “I got people waitin’ right outside.”

“Good. Make sure everything's covered up, no one drops anything, and we might be able to get out of all this intact.” Oooh. That’s interesting. Dollars to donuts that that's probably the parts... But he's already got people out there? That might make things a bit rougher.

Off the top of your head, you figure that it's the safety manager that will probably be the best bet for you if you want to get down there, it's only because he's the kind of guy who would have already made an excuse to do it. You just hope that it's not too far out of your range…

It doesn't take you anything to slip out and in considering that none of them still realize your presence.

One flesh suit stills feels just as gross as the other, though, as the safety manager nods. “Will do. I’ll keep you posted.” With that set, the three men split up, and yours in particular breaks off from the group and- “Section five-three, status?” He speaks into his walkie-talkie.

“On standby still. No changes.” Is the response.

“Alright, let me know when they arrive, and bring them upstairs asap.” Right. Doesn't look like he's going to be going down there himself anytime soon. IF you want him down there...you're going to have to force the issue.

10 minutes. that's all you have before it arrives. You could try and go down there with your current ‘actor’, but honestly, you might not be able to make it there in time, or there miiight be one too many distractions on the way. Might be better to just leave and try something on your own.

With a thought, you’re yanked back through the air, and with a snap, you wake up from your little nap. Fortunately, you don't get any particular looks save from a couple of mildly amused passers-by.

“Welcome back. All went well?” Jago asks quietly.

“Well enough,” you chirp, “but we don’t have much time. We’ve got ten minutes before the package gets here.”

“Yea? What we doin’?” Jago asks quickly- and it’s a good question. If you're not going to use someone else in order to steal the parts after all, then you're going to need another tactic. But the question is, just what are you planning on doing?

First we need to find where it's arriving, likely the loading docks. We can check out the security there, and look for potential ride-alongs for when it arrives and hiding places for us. We don't have enough info to make further plans yet.

‘Prima, meet me outside, in the tree line past the parking lot,’ you send out as you quickly leave the arena. “Jago, keep an eye out for a second. We're going to see just how busy those back bays are.”

“Roight.” He affirms as you head out, lagging behind in order to make sure no one really pays too much attention to you. It's still early, but there's people trickling in, now. Prima’s quick to ‘bump’ into you as you make it past and between the artificial tree barrier. “Hello, Miss!”

You nod, keeping your eyes peeled for any bystanders that might be a bit too close. Certain the coast is clear, you tilt your head in a specific direction, and start walking, with Prima following.

“Circle around, we’re going to take a look at where the loading bays are,” you mutter. In doing so walking by, you keep up a report of meaningless chatter with her, mostly just talking about the weather and her clothes. Well...it’s less talking about her clothes, and more complimenting them while she accepts it.

It's not too hard to find out where the loading docks are, especially not compared to the first stadium- these are entirely above ground, facing a thickening tree line (though you can still hear cars on the other end) as opposed to the slanted, near-underground locale of before. You only have a second or two to actually get a view of the area because of that, but what you see before you quickly turn around is that indeed there's a number of individuals standing around, several of them looking like guards- at least five, maybe more. You also saw a few flashes of pink and yellow that you can only guess is that section 3-5 that the safety manager mentioned earlier.

You need to get changed, and fast, if you want to do this as Shatterlight- so speed is of the essence...well, that and finding a quiet place to change.

Finding a hiding place is rough. You can't exactly just go back in and come back out, that’d take too long. At the same time it seems like there's not exactly a whole lot of quiet places to hide. What you eventually pick...well, it’s not exactly your first choice. Ever. You at least spot a camera before you do- why they’d be watching THIS area...well, no, actually. Makes sense. You're already on a clock, so.

“Hey, Pri? Camera?” *pop* “Thank you.”

“It will be looped for approximately 30 seconds.” All the time in the world.

Still...dumpsters suck.

At least it's not for very long, and the only thing that you have to really worry about is the smell... But that's bad enough, frankly. By the time you leave out, bot in hand, you’re already ready to get back to a nice shower…

You leap up, up, and over, onto the side of the building, onto the sloped roof of the box office, which then transitions to the side of the dome itself- and you make a wickedly fast beeline for the target area. As you reach the edge, you’re quick to peer over- and then you realize that the situation is, er...a touch worse than what it was.

The car and van already freakin’ got there! Not only that, but they’ve got some guests, too; that edgy-looking black cloaked kid that was sitting next to June in the VIP section is there- and it seems like he’s pulling guard duty…

And there’s Little Miss Priss Aiba, too. She’s got a noticeable frown on her face, as though she’d rather be ANYWHERE but here- makes sense, considering that the last parts were stolen on her company’s bot’s watch. She's probably looking to make amends and cool some heads.

Combined with the other armed security, this won’t be as easy- whoa!

You jerk your head back just as Artesia glances up- and your heart thrums as you realize you might’ve been made already.

“Try and hold one of them!” you whisper before diving down immediately- you’re almost instantly oh FUCK damn damn damn!

Shots ring out as you twist yourself through the air, and it’s all you can do to focus- heavy firefight situation means no time for thinking just move. You spring into the air, letting yourself flash like a brilliant camera as you race for the arm parts, which are, if that black box is any indication, currently being held in the grip of the edgy kid.

He barely manages to see you coming, his vision quickly blinded even behind those sunglasses of his. But he only barely manages to move out of the way as you tackle him amidst the gunfire. A few shots pierce your uniform, stinging your back and legs, but you force yourself to keep moving as you feel the target object push against your chest as you bowl the man over.

Footsteps, and you see three men rush your position- the stadium security. A quick kick boots one of them back, and just barely gives you enough space to back up a step, doing your best to keep him between you and the firing individuals. You can hear screams of pain let up from him as he takes the plasma and bullets meant for you, and...well, you really hope this isn’t going to count against you…

But it's then that a spark of light suddenly shines out, and your head snaps back as something heavy impacts your helmet, rattling your head and causing your vision to swim. A second shot hits your ribs, and you can feel a dull pain start to spread- you reactively lash out with a punch, and you feel it impact and dent metal along with a robotic grunt of exertion. More stinging pain lances out from your arms, but by now you’ve FUCKING HAD ENOUGH STOP.

One hand darts into the pauldron opposite it, and quickly pulls out a trio of smoke pellets- without any fanfare or style you slam them to the ground, causing a billowing plume of thick, acrid smoke to bloom forth, instantly cloaking the entire area- even you can’t see anything. But you don’t need to. Tensing your legs, you jump high, clearing the smoke if only for a few moments as it rises up ever higher, and quickly scramble onto the lower rooftops where Prima is waiting. She doesn't even get a word in edgewise as you grab her and immediately catapult yourself off and to the rooftops, running as fast as you can to get back to your travel bag in the dumpster- and the tree line afterwards, the yelling receding behind you.

This...this, you’re going to feel for a bit.

(Run will continue tomorrow- earlier, hopefully.)

plot twist, the thing we grabbed is something else

Smash and grabs are honestly just that- smash, grab, run like hell. They're dangerous, but quick as hell if the thief knows what they want to take and how to get to it. Most of those kinds of thefts aren't solved in the moment, they're solved post-event. This whole thing took place in the space of a few seconds.
>>

Hopefully the fact that we stole the part before the event will give us some time to recover.

>>
>>2416689
Yeah anyway we may need to take a breather after this. And we should tell our employer that he doesn't need to push the parts exhibtion otherwise it will call to much attention to him. Two parts are easier to snatch then three and we can avoid the main cast doing that.
>>
>>2416706
>anyway we may need to take a breather after this. And we should tell our employer that he doesn't need to push the parts exhibtion otherwise it will call to much attention to him.
I was thinking about this as well. If he gets pushback about the remaining parts, he needs to fold or risk putting a target on his back. I assume he's smart enough to realize this, but it bears mentioning.

There can't be that many parts left though. We got the legs, arms, and hands. That leaves feet, torso, and head, and maybe a core?
>>
>>2416594
You don't actually get far before you start feeling a burning ache in both your ribs and your legs. You’re pretty sure you didn’t get anything broken- you’ve felt that before and it’s NOT FUN- but it's still smarts pretty hard. “Pretty sure something got under the skin…” you mumble to yourself.

Prima, unfortunately, hears it. “Miss! You’re injured?!” Oh, great. Alright, fine, might as well. You need to stop and check things anyway. There's more people on the street now, and it's harder to find a back area where you'll be left alone- what eventually does it is one of those high-walled...cement...ditch...thingys- damn, you never HAVE been sure if that's what they were called. Now that’s gonna bug you.

Anyway!

You manage to find an overpass that doesn't seem to have a whole lot of foot traffic on it, which is fortunate, and quickly duck under it. Almost as soon as you stop, all the pain comes rushing in in force, and you have to stop yourself from doubling over in order to try and focus.

First things first, double check the cargo... with slightly shaking hands, you flip the few latches, and lift the lid on the strange black box.

“Oh...phew. Oh, thank goodness.” you let out a deep breath as the image of the clawed, actually-kinda-creepy looking arms meet you. They’ve still got the same coloration and organic lines, but the fingers are spindly and sharp, and it's kinda not what you expected. Still, you're pretty sure that that's them.

A wave of fatigue hits you and you slim down to the ground, just as Prima rushes over to you. “Miss! You should be careful not to aggravate any possible internal injuries! Do you require me to inform of your status to Mr. King?”

> “No, no, I’ll be fine...just gimme a few moments.” You can tough this much out, at least.

>>2417827
Artesia has custom- yet delicate- advanced predictive targeting algorithms and extremely high-end sensory equipment so that her aim with her plasma bow is impeccable.

This equipment is, unsurprisingly, located in her head.

That sounds like a way to convenient weak point. Just like targeting the head of a robot so you can hit the pilot (that's why most gundam pilots ride their bots in the torso though)

It makes sense tough. The torso has the core and batteries and whatnot.
>>
>>2417842
The makers don't disagree, but it was an unfortunate necessity due to other systems taking up too much space - like the AI Core, which is always housed in the most protected area of the minibot with the most protected shielding, and takes up an invariable amount of space.

Artesia could, by most rights, come back from having her head blown off just fine. Her Core going would be final death. 'Easy' choice to make when you compare the two.

So the Torso then? Well when you start to co sider the core as the pilot sphere from most gundams it would make more sense to have the core in the torso anyway.

>can we call ourselves the undefeated of the east?

Well most of the times it isn't expected for someone to target the core. After all you can fisable the bot without killing it and since the core is always covered with the thickest armor it would be easier to cripple a bot rather then kill it's core.

Of course this is a rule for battler bots not for war bot or even security bots like the Gargant

“No, no…” you beg her off, even as the breaths come roughly. “I’ll be fine, just...need to rest a bit and take stock. Gimme a few minutes.” As you slip down to the slightly damp stone, you find yourself more thankful than ever for your Magical Girl healing factor. You can't double up on it like ‘Randa or ‘Zumi, but heck, you can still take punches better than your everyday professional fighter, and you can walk away under your own power from things that would’ve killed a lesser man several times over.

Like...now, actually, as you partially strip down and check the source of your pain. There's a large red welt forming on the left side of your rib cage, and similarly there's small welts forming on both of your legs. not to mention there seems to be a lot of burns on your suit...that sucks. Whatever those shots were, you're pretty sure that they weren't exactly meant to be non-lethal. It's probably going to sting for a little bit- and by a little bit, you’re guessing at least a couple of days.

You don't exactly know if that's going to seriously affect the next thefts, but hopefully some rest and any ointments they might have’ll get you back into at least reasonable condition. Your legs are starting to feel a bit stiff already…

“Ugh, this bites,” you say grumpily as you try to keep them moving to avoid lockup. Prima just frets like she wants to touch you, but isn’t allowed. You just glad that the police aren’t nearby. Whatever can be said about your escape, you made it quick.

But...there’s the matter of Jago. You had to bail in a hurry, and he wasn’t near the dumpsters. Which means that he's out there somewhere, probably wondering over just where you might be. There’s always a chance he could head back to the hotel- he’s a smart bot...but if he isn’t, that might be an issue. Your sundress covers your legs well enough that if you wanted to go back in ‘disguise’, you could...just a quick in and out to find Jago.

With all these security i don't know if we should try and let Jago alone so Aiba girl ends up bumping into him. I also don't want her to grab him and start wonderung why we would leave him behind or why we would even be here in the first place. I say just give Prima the part and let us look for Jago.

We are like in a different city man. I'm worried that edgy lord mgee will try to inspect Lori or that Aiba will suspect her if she sees jago alone in the stadium.

>>One more trip back to the arena, then…
We don't need to go all the way back, only far enough to reach his comm. He does have a comm, right?

We need to be a little careful with our disguise though. Someone will eventually connect the dots that Himawari has been around for almost every theft, and sometimes disappears after.
>>
>He does have a comm, right?

we never asked him. Maybe that should be a thing we need to add to his features.
>>
>>2417896
>Head back to the hotel. He’s probably on his way there.
At most it would raise suspicion to himawari 's whereabouts if he was captured but it's not something that would flush our identity out.

Himawari isn't the kind of gal to simply leave her bot. i say we send Prima to the hotel with the part and then go after Jago.
>>
>>2417977
the answer is simple, we got lost in the big city, and since we had planned to go to the stadium, jago went there to meet us up, while we returned to the hotel, because we thought jago would be there.

>>2417983

>King can send one of his employees to pick him up, or at least get em close enough to access his comms and tell him where to go
That's a bad idea. They could make a connection that we are working with king, and that we might be the thief.
>>

Surely they own civilian clothes, and if they just talk into their phone while inside a shop 2 blocks away...

Geez i sure hope they don't try to scan Jago memory and see everything we did and plan with him! Specialy we going to King tower and meeting with Prima and other stuffs! If Prima has a dtabank i believe Jago has his onw databank as well

why would they scan jago's memories in the first place? Jago could tell them where we are staying and that's it. the MC group would take him there.
>>
>why would they scan jago's memories in the first place?

BECAUSE IT'S SUSPICIOUS THAT A PERSON WHO WAS AT THE SAME PLACE THAT THE LEGS WERE STOLEN IS IN HERE! And what better way to find the true then digging in the bot databank? Just plug somethign on his head and check all of his memory, if there is nothing no harm done if there is well we caugth the villain!

But then we will just roll to see if security manages to catch jago.
>>
>>2418062
but is a contest in several places. Surely we weren't the only one that was in the previous stadium and came here, even as an spectator. They also have no idea that we were the one that stole the pieces; it would be more of a dick move to scan jago's memories (supposing he doesn't deletes them beforehand) than to just return him to us. After all, we already have the front that we are cheery, naive and with the head in the clouds, so it makes sense that we had lost jago.

As much as you don't like the idea of abandoning Jago- always a chance he could get spotted and questioned- it would be a risk to just go back there right now, for any length of time. Chances are they're going to be holding everyone there, asking for statements, and all that stuff. Someone noticing your disappearance before it went down would be suspicious, but there's at least something of an excuse there you can prep. And again, you don’t feel like Jago would be clueless enough, considering what he knows, to just stick around after all that. The fact that you weren't there to retrieve them would probably tip him off that you had to run, and he would try and make his way back to the hotel.

Decision made, you take a quick check around, and quick change into your civvies and clamber out of the ditch-thing. Keeping your tote bag in hand (now with stolen part inside of it), you give a quick order to Prima to follow behind after a few minutes, and begin the trek back to the hotel.

When you make it back, you find yourself breathing a sigh of relief. No one looked at you odd, no suspicion on anyone's faces. But no Jag-

*beep beep* Hm? A message.

‘News travels quickly. Got the package? - K.’

Huh. Well, that saved you some time. ‘With me, at the hotel.’

‘Excellent. Will have someone to retrieve you shortly. Bots okay?’ Oh. Oof. That.

...Might as well be honest. ‘Prima en-route. Jago unavailable.’

The response is immediate. ‘Destroyed?’

‘No.’ At least, you hope not. He’s funny sometimes.

‘Retrieval team?’ Hm. He can do that? Well, no, yeah, suppose he can. ‘Will take time. But can have you out in one hour.’

Last time we were a contestant, but this time we aren't part of it so it may be suspicious. It also depends on the concept of how this world works. So far they could not suspect us and just come to delyver jago back to us at our hotel room or they could do just like the american airport does when they see something suspicious in a suit and open it up to check the content. Depens on how invasive a memory scan is and whatnot. But hopefully jago will manage to ditch security.

We were hit 3 times by lethal anti-bot ammunition. Any regular person would have been blown to bits and a bot would likely have been disabled. If they shoot to kill before attempting to capture the thief I'd say they are competent enough, unfortunately we're a damn planeswalker.

You don’t like the idea of leaving him, but all things considered it's probably best to extract as soon as possible. Jago should be in decent hands thanks to King’s men...hopefully.

In 20 minutes, Prima returns, bowing to you. “I made it safely, Miss. No followers were detected!”

“Good,” you say, patting her top. “We’re getting out of here in a bit.”

“Oh?” she asks. “Then has Jago has been dismissed from duty?”

You shake your head. “Nah, but it’d be too big of a risk to go back for him. mr. king is going to send a retrieval team for him and we'll catch up back at base!”

“Understood.”

In due time, it seems like King keeps his word in the fact that in a half hour, someone knocks on your door, for it to be revealed to be a nondescript man, who simply holds his hands out. You open the box, showing him the goods, and he nods, then takes it himself. “Come with me. Your ride’s waiting.”

A bit of limping, and a powerful attempt at resisting a grimace as you get inside the car, but before long, you're off to the airport. Two down...and however many to go. If your luck holds, then...nah.

You're too tired to tempt fate right now.

-----------

Mr. King, after staring at the Arhu arms for a bit longer than you think might be healthy, finally speaks. “I must say, I'm surprised you decided to resort to such base tactics, but I can't deny their effectiveness, this time.”

“Sometimes, you need to tap on the glass. Sometimes, you need to SMASH it!” you say proudly, although there's a bit more strain in your voice than normal due to the fact that you're still plenty sore.

He just purses his lips at that one. “Hm. As for what’s next...the final piece of the parts. The torso.”

“Wait…” Hold on there, that’s shouldn’t be… “Is there no head?” You'd have thought that it would have been a full set. Arms, legs, torso, and head. But…

“No,” he says, to your surprise. “There ARE apparently rumors of a headpiece, but that's all they are. Rumors. I have no intention on wasting my money to confirm or deny if such a piece exists. With the torso, I'll have more than I need in order to figure out exactly what makes these parts so special, and reverse-engineer them!”

Ahhh. Well...hell, if that's what he's paying for, then that's what he'll get. Before you confirm your dedication to acquisition, there’s a call that comes in, which he's quick to answer. “Speak.”

A slightly fuzzy voice comes through. “We’ve located the Jago Minibot. Was outside of the specified hotel later at night. We’ll be back in the next day.”

A thin smile blossoms on King’s face. “Excellent. Any difficulty?”

“None. Seems like he was unsure what the plan was. He ended up walking around as a result. He also apparently overheard something that might be of interest to you, sir.”

“Oh? He raises an eyebrow, as do you. “Do tell.”

“The Kazaki child,” the man says, and suddenly you feel as though the air just got a bit heavier. “Him and the Aiba heir have apparently been speaking about the recent thefts. You’ll be happy to know she’s rather frustrated- and that her company’s stock has been decreasing. Her company has also been pulled off of protective duties for the remaining Arhu part.”

“Ha!” King laughs. “Serves her right.”

“Unfortunately, she mentioned that they also won’t be displaying the part at the next stage of the competition, either.” Oh...well...that sucks.

King’s face remains passive, however. “Anything else? Perhaps a meeting location or something of the sort?”

“No sir,” is the response. “That’s all before they got too far away.”

Still, it was enough. “Then get back as soon as possible with the bot. King out.” with that, the connection is closed, and he turns to you. “I can’t say I didn't expect this. But it does mean that they likely will be keeping the chest part in their offices. I can give you the location.”

Ugh. That’s gonna be a pain. Might be fun, though, but…

A couple of questions come to mind. “Well...Is there going to be a time limit? Now that the part isn't going to be displayed as part of the competition, I mean?”

He snorts in derision. “Why would there not be? I'm not paying you to lounge about! If you need a couple of days of recuperation, then I suppose I can accept that, but i want all those parts as soon as possible, and not a moment later!”

“Well, of course!” you allow as a wide smile overtakes you almost by instinct. “But we COULD try and let her stew in our own worry, since both parts were stolen pretty much back to back! It would be a fantastic and deliciously cruel way to drive her up the wall, no?”

“Perhaps. But I’m not a patient man!” Oy, guy could really learn to get over that then. “Heal, prepare, and then you WILL get me that torso piece!”

Uggghh, this guy’s REALLY starting to chafe. “Yes sir!” you even throwing a salute and everything. He simply harrumphs and turns away, clearly expecting the conversation to be over with.

He doesn't see you giving him a rude gesture behind his back at least. You figure it’d be about...three or four days until you’re feeling good to go 100%, and you're probably going to spend at least one of those just hanging around and doing nothing to let yourself heal up. You’re pretty sure that while nothing was broken, a couple of ribs at least got bruised, and your legs are still touchy.

His plot-senses will have him investigate, and even if he finds nothing, he'll have been kept busy while we steal the torso.

>Day 1: Data.

The first day...well, as boring as it is, you're going to need to get some intel on the offices. By all accounts it wouldn't be a good idea to just waltz up to the place; you might be able to see if you can't get a day pass or something like that. Beyond that, asking Mr. King for any kind of blueprints or other such data doesn’t get you much- you suppose that they wouldn't just have their building layout lying around on the internet for anyone to take, but there are enough images out there for you to get a good review of the outside of the building and its surroundings.

It’s not much, but it’s something. At the very least this lets you know that no matter how you try to get in, you're going to have to deal with heavy camera presence. Prima’s going to be a must. Unfortunately, you do a quick check online and it shows that they don't do public tours- it’s invite-only.

Not exactly the best results, but you can deal with it throughout the week. For now, there's something else that's been tugging at the back of your head that you want to see to...

“What do you require of me, Miss?” Prima asks easily as she steps into your private room. “I am ready to assist you however you may require!”

“Glad to hear it!” you admit. “In that case...just stay right there. And don’t resist if something weird starts happening to your...whatever.”

And so you start breathing carefully, to let yourself slip away, yet remain…

You can see her lean forward yet again. “Miss? If you were planning to interface with me, I believe you are lacking a certain number of tools. Also, you are falling asleep again. Is this what you-”

>Current Mana: 5500/7500

Huh. It’s getting a bit easier. You were out and only a couple of breaths that time, and she doesn't seem to realize that you’re still there. Well, in a sense.

You step into her, and are treated, once again, to a veritable sea of data, code lines flashing around in a seemingly endless void...that is, a void save for the gentle silver-blue glow coming from the distance, complete with a window set. Two windows, though, not just the one.

You slowly, carefully, maneuver yourself towards the giant glowing blob; much like a strange gelatin, it ripples and fluxuates as you get closer. It's actually, oddly enough, a bit more solid-looking already than that guard bot that you took over. Wonder how that happened?

Regardless, it soon goes from rippling to wobbling like gelatin, and you’re curious just why.

Maybe...maybe you can do something. “Prima? Can you hear me?”

For a few moments, nothing. “I’m not going to do anything to you, but can you respond?”

And then…

“Yes...I think I can.” Almost immediately, the glowing orb that was wiggling and wobbling suddenly stops; the glow solidifying and, dare you say it, hardening. It’s almost kinda like a shell now… “Miss...what is this? Why do I feel so- new? ...HOW do I feel so new?”

Ain’t THAT a question. “Honestly? No clue! But hey, enjoy it!”

“Enjoy it…?” Yeesh, she’s got a lot to learn.

But, you’re pretty sure you can teach her. “Yeah! Y’know, life! Live it up! Be you!”

“This...can I…?”

There is a pulsing light from the strange orb, and suddenly there’s a singular...not a sound, but a reverberating feeling, as though someone thumped against a wall coming from the orb. However, the pulsing light fades back into the steady glow, and the data flying around you speeds up. “This...this is not in my databanks. And it seems that this may be dangerous to my subsystems due to unknown consequences. Perhaps I should purge my systems…”

Wait, what? “Hold on now, why do you-”

“Just a moment. I am performing a self-system scan. This should not take long...”

A hundred thoughts run through your head as something starts to emanate from the orb- a thin, flat pane of light that begins to sweep over everything. “Wait, hold on! I’m just trying to help!” You insist.

“You are...trying to assist me?” This thing...

“I’m trying to help you LIVE, dangit!” You let out as you resist the urge to grab your hair. “You’re cool, and you’re interesting, and…”

There's words in your throat, but for some reason they get stuck, lodged as though the weight is just too much for your throat muscles to spit out.

In the end you just shake your head. “I’m gonna do something! And if you purge or whatever anything right now you could kill me! You don’t want that, do you?”

There's a brief moment of silence...before the thing flashes once, and the scanner disappears. “That would be...counteractive to aiding you. But assisting me to...live?”

“Right?” You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down. “Look, I'm...pretty sure I’m unlocking your hidden potential- in a way. Really, I just need a little more time to find the twists and knobs to pull and turn.” Not that you don’t have an idea of how to help things along...

You stretch your arm out, and you let out a few sparkles of mana straight for the orb. Oh, boy, you seriously seriously hope that this is a good idea...

Suddenly, the sparks of light impact the solid orb- and to your surprise they seem to get sucked in- less passing through the barrier, and more getting absorbed like water in a sponge.

“Oh!” Hm? “What is...what is…?!

Suddenly, the orb brightens, nearly doubles in size-

“This...feeling. I can...I must…!” -and then doubles again in brightness.

You have to both turn away and throw your hands up in front of your eyes as you shut them, and you swear even that isn't enough as the light almost threatens to burn…

...And then it stops, and the pain begins to recede. It's a few moments before you feel comfortable enough to uncover your eyes, but when you do…

You’re not standing in a void anymore. Instead, your vision is filled with your room- and yourself, slumped over on the couch. You...you’re not in control, but…

A metal hand moves, and your vision- Prima’s vision- sweeps over herself, as though inspecting herself only for the first time.

A thought rings out, but it’s not yours. “I...I believe I understand, a bit. Life. Living. What you mean by that. But I...I wonder if I can learn more?”

cont.
>>
>>2419264
You’d let out a sigh of relief if you could…“Hey, it’s a start.”

With a flash of thought, you exit her body, and feel yourself yanked back into good ol’ you.

When you open your eyes, Prima is still there, looking at you- and there’s something...new in her eyes. Where her optics before were just a solid color, you can see something a bit deeper in them now, when you look carefully- a darker, purple color in the center- oh. She has pupils now.

They work for her. “So...how do you feel, Prima?”

She nods once. “Good. What...what did you do?”

“Like I said, no clue!” you shrug merrily. “But, I’m glad it did what I expected, so...yeah! Mission accomplished! You can go now.”

There’s a brief pause as she lifts her foot, turning to leave...and then gently sets it back down, instead taking a couple of steps towards you and taking a small leap on the bed. “No. I don’t want to. I think I’d rather stay here for now.”

...Okay. “...Sure. I’m gonna nap, though.”

“That’s fine.” Whatever suits her, for once.

On another note, I think Mr King will have to ask us to return prima.
>>
We should contract one of kings competitors and sell them some of his data. Or all of them.
>>
>>2419713
I would rather not risk losing a future client.

However, lorelei's ability to give sentience could be valueable.
>>
>>2419413
that's why i wasn't that eager to make prima conscious. But maybe we could do the same trick to some other bot and we could keep her. Or we just reboot her to factory settings.
>>
>>2419271
Well, good to know we can repeat what we did the first time. If this works on humanoid robots, I wonder what else it might work on.
I dunno if King will be that interested in this, but we should talk to his engineers at least. They're the ones that'll be working on her as needed, and most likely to notice any changes.
We should give Prima a little time to make sure she doesn't, ya know, explode or something, them we should repeat this with Jago. Don't want to leave him out.

If we do spend more time with the protage squad, we should follow up on those rumors of the head. It should be easy to bring up even. Just mention the string of thefts, and that you'd heard everything had been stolen besides a torso and a head, but you hadn't heard anything about a head (assuming this info is public)

Do we know if the Torso contains a Core?

Maybe we should hit the books and find out just how the AI cores are made and how they were first developed. Maybe it's some Nier shit with ancient replicants.

If we hang out with MC squad I want to awaken their bots just for fun and see what happens or convince them it's a good idea. At the very least mess with Aiba's bot, she needs a real friend.
We can use it as the excuse for why Himawari turned into such a mess when Jago got hurt since he's real people and once we have their attention and interest, it's a plot hook so strong not even the show's producer can stop it from happening!

It will work out fine, what we're doing is basically giving them their mid-season power-up a little ahead of schedule!
>>
>>2420139
We need to be mindful of mp though, it costs a bit, and we dont want to end up short of mana in combat
>>
>>2420140
I believe that we don't actually have to ghost ride them, we should attempt to simply poke a physical core with mana and see what happens. It's possible that a spoonful of mana is all the catalyst they need.
If that turns out to be true, we don't even have to reveal that we are magic, we can just pull out one of our mana crystals when we do the deed. Classic misdirection
>>
>>2420141
It may be, but it may also not be enough, it seemed at the first try that possession was the key, I dont believe we poured mana into that one
>>
>>2420142
Yeah, that's why we'll experiment, it's the whole point of experimenting.

King must have bots destined for the dumpster or we take a walk in town, shouldn't be too hard to find one greeting customers outside a store or hand out tourist info meaning it wouldn't be odd for us to interact with it.

>>
>>2421242
Huh. That's an interesting idea.
>>
>>2421472
Glad to have given it to you, boss.
>>
Huzzah we now have three threads in epic.
>>
Given what we know of Lorelei I don't think we are playing particularly in character. More like Miranda with different mechanics and more giggles. If we are going to have more crossovers we really need more flexibility as players.
>>
>>2422459
Eh, I think we're doing okay. I think a lot of the reason why so many players try to be so efficient about it, is because we basically don't have control of the situation, we are very much at the mercy of being lucky at the moment. With Mirandra we can usually muscle our way through, but even that is often rather ungraceful.

Lorelei, whose skillset is reliant on being precise and sneaky, doesn't handle it as well when things do go according to keikaku, and she has to muscle her way through clumsily.

Not sure if it's because we don't understand her skillset enough, or if she ain't good enough at what she does, but that's my two cent about it.
>>
>>2422480
Don't go*
>>
>>2422480
Well, no one wants to use her magic. We could've stolen this latest part with a baton relay race using our body doubles and magic invisible hands. Could have put it in our bag and just walk away without issue, it's not like anyone can search our hammer space. Votes had already decided on ghost riding when I got here so I didn't bring it up.

Just like with Miranda we can never agree on using our skills because half the player base are the kind of people who save every elixir until the final boss and still avoid using them.
>>
>>2422501
Agree with pretty much this. We need to get more creative and actually do something with our magic. That's why it's there. Maybe we just need to keep it in mind better. Like maybe have a list of our currently available powers and gear below the options, or a link with them.
>>
Too bad I wasn't present for the vote but...
The rumours about a head... if boss doesn't feel like wasting money on it... if we got some time left before the heist...
Just saying.
>>
>>2422501
Sure, we could have done that, and that could easily be half our mana gone on one mission, in a world with almost no mana regen. If we cast nothing but cheap spells, we only get 15 uses. We only get 7 castings of the more expensive spells, and only one long full possession, or two short full possessions.

If we want to use magic more, we need to go to higher regen worlds, or get a lot more mana crystals.
>>
I agree with anon here: >>2422698

Plus may i add the fact that Saul said to Lori to keep her focus, after what happend with Miranda and we got distracted with the mafia and did all that terrible planning. So my guess is if your boss is a eldritch entity you will try your best to stay focus, so my main reasob to avoid distractions was Saul warning (?) to Lori.

We were also keeping our mana cost low because the regen is low on this world and from what happend in the frontier world if a outgoer screw up bad shit will happen so. I in partycular was trying to use to much magic so we wouldn't break 'the worlds balance' or have the MC get in our way and we are unable to hold our punches and we end up seriously injuring then
>>
>>2422698
Possession costs anywhere between 1-3k mana, minimum. I dunno what our mana is at right now but we spent 1k just riding a guy and at least 500 for paparazzi. That means we went down to, at most, 4500 mana for this heist.

Me's a Crowd costs 1k*x and Magic Limbs 500. Look at that, exactly the same expenditure if we only use one clone! We have half a dozen or more small mana crystals with 500 MP each, we could have pulled off all 3 heists without even tapping into our personal mana. At least try to look at the numbers before crying about the numbers.

We have tons of great spells that only need a little prep to use them effectively, but if you think it's fun to stop us from using them because they use up a replenishable resource we might as well start taking jobs on null-magic worlds so we won't even have them as options.
>>
>>2422501
>half the player base are the kind of people who save every elixir until the final boss and still avoid using them.

But what if we need it later anon!!! Till this day i regret using those invisibility potions during our mission in the magical girl universe
>>
>>2422788
>but we spent 1k just riding a guy and at least 500 for paparazzi.
That's 1500 out of 7500. 20% of our total mana on 2 spells. They were well spent, but we didn't even know how many theft we were going to have to pull off until recently. If we'd had to steal each individual limb, for instance, we could have had almost twice as many heists to pull off, some 10-odd. If we used half as much mana per heist, we'd still pass out at the end from mana exhaustion.

I admit I forget about the mana crystals when factoring our total usable mana though, which makes the above calculations less harsh. Maybe Handler should list our external non-replenishable mana alongside our current internal mana during spell use?

Instead of tearing your hair out because we didn't bring the potion maker to the intersection?

>>2422783
What happened on the mafia job was that a couple of people decided to jump at the first possible opportunity instead of staking out and gathering info and /making/ a plan. After that we spent weeks trying to fix the problems that caused for us. We were doing alright too, until a bad dice roll made the king's army approach and put us on a short timer. Of course, that happened because some genuinely thought that high profile kills in broad daylight was a good idea... both players and npcs were responsible for this. There were good plans like wanting to gather everyone at a mafia summit or a funeral and flux them and burn them all to death. All long term plans fell out of everyone's mind because of fucking sticky bombs of all things, lol.

>>2422698
>>2422817
And sorry man I'm not trying to be a dick but it's frustrating to arrive late and see that people waste thousands of mana ghosting a guy instead of just sitting behind the corner and using the FREE hearing boost, and then get told by one voting for it that I'm wasting mana when I had a clean plan. Instead of spending 1000 hoping that we'd get something out of it, which, we didn't.

I do wish we'd have a pastebin with an inventory plus add it in plain text in the OP, it would make things a bit easier. Remember how we have murmur stones but never use them?
>>
>>2422832
>Instead of tearing your hair out because we didn't bring the potion maker to the intersection?
hey, the potionmaker had a husband an a life. it think that was our main point for not asking her to come. With owlia was different because she in important to us and dragging her and cylica to the intersection made the job WAY easier.

>I do wish we'd have a pastebin with an inventory plus add it in plain text in the OP, it would make things a bit easier. Remember how we have murmur stones but never use them?

You got a point there. Most of the time i forget what kind of abilities our characters have and tend to go with the ones i remember. Maybe we sould post the link to the characters abilities before entering any combat situation?

>Day 2: Choices.

You're not quite sure why, but it feels like Prima’s gotten more...peppy? Since her, uh...oh, geez, what do you call that? Ascendance? Birth? Evolution?

...Since she started asking a whole ton of questions for no other reason than just to ask ‘em. Yeah, that works.

Point is, she’s been asking a whole lot about feelings and junk, and...eeegghhh, it was cute for the first hour or two, but after a while it started to get a bit…

...Eh, you’ll deal with it.

“So then, this ‘dancing’ is done to express anger?” She asks as you’re walking towards the exit.

“No, no...it’s kinda done to express...well, a lot of emotions, really. But you don’t normally do it like she does.” You really have to drill some basics into this bot or something… “She’s kinda...weird, I guess.”

“I see...I think.” She pauses as her eyes flit to the side. “Perhaps I should look into learning these ‘dancing’ techniques in order to help express myself better!” You say nothing, just immediately turning your mind to stuff to get for Jago. He’d gotten back early last night, and although he hadn't said anything to you, you were wondering if maybe somewhere deep down he wanted to and just...couldn’t. Kinda like Prima. As you open the door, however, she speaks up again. “Oh, are you leaving for something?”

“Yeah, picking up some parts,” you confirm casually. “Making looking around and seeing what scuttlebutt is.”

Prima tilts her head. “...Scuttlebutt? I don’t know that word.”

Oy. “Means ‘rumored news’.” Gonna have to teach her lingo, too.

“Ah! Well, then…” Her eyes flit to the side again, and nodding to herself, she looks up at you. “I would like something. May you obtain a…?” She pauses, as though having to search her memory for it. “A parasol? Yes, that’s what it was.”

...A scarf?

She nods eagerly. “Yes. According to my search, most outfits similar to mine tend to have a parasol as an accompanying accessory. I would very much like one!”

‘Awww, it’s so pretty, sis! All frilly! Can you get me one?’[i/]

‘It took, like, all my money to get THIS one! You get your own.’[i/]

‘B-but I don’t have a job or anythin’! I can’t buy a pretty umbrella like that!’[i/]

The words come out before you can even really think about them. “...Yeah, I’ll make sure it’s something pretty! And maybe violent, too; you know, for self-defense and all that!” ...thinking about it, one of those parasols with the sword inside the handle it WOULD be pretty sweet...or maybe if it had a hidden gun in it or something!

There’s a tittering noise from Prima- a giggle, you realize. “Yes, that’d be lovely, thanks you!” you let out a bark of a laugh, and- oh, forget it. You’re hugging her.

She’s...actually kinda warm. You weren’t expecting that, though. It’s nice.

---------

Parts shops here aren't at all specialized, and one of the problems with that is that it takes you awhile to figure out just what might be suitable for her. There's a lot of tools, a lot of accessories, but hardly any of the umbrella sort. You might have to just bite the bullet and get her something purely for looks, if you can’t find anything at this rate. Shouldn’t be all that bad, they had a number of pretty cute floral print patterns that might match with her current color scheme a few rows down-

-And then a tingling feeling runs down your spine. Nothing magic, but, well...

One of the things that you had to get used to after pulling a job, and remaining in the active area was not looking at everyone as though they suspect you. You've gotten pretty good at it after not too long- but you’d also learned another nifty skill. Learning to pay attention to your instincts that tell you when someone IS looking at you.

For a few seconds, you don't react, letting yourself browse the wares as you decide on just what to pick up for your two associates. Might just be someone that’s just using you for an idea for what to buy…

...But the feeling continues long after you’ve made your decisions, and picked out a nice, pink/white blossom pattern parasol for Prima (that trip back and forth actually helped; this actually had a reinforced handle and base, apparently- the top DID come off for a blade that resembled a katana, even!)

It's when you walk clear across the store and back without that feeling abating that you're pretty sure that you're being watched and followed. The fact that you didn’t even catch them out of the corner of your eye tells you that whoever it is, they’re hiding on purpose.

And they're good at it.

>Try to call them out on it now.
>See if they follow you out of the store.

If they do, try to subtly lose them in the city, then get to a safe house.

Shouldn't have gone out in public with our heisting bot; we have Jago for a reason. Here's hoping we can salvage this.
>>
>>2423994
To be clear, this is if they do follow us. I simply want a destination they won't compromise us at the end of the day, in case we can't or won't lose them.

Giving the slip with magic may or may not be a bad idea.
If we can identify them we could just give them fuzzy memories and walk away. Hm

You're not sure just what they want from you, but one way or another you're going to find out. You've dealt with tails before, and this won't be anything new...but, first things first. Casually typing out a quick message on your holowatch (after adjusting the display size to something smaller) about the situation…

‘Being followed. Safe house?’

There’s several minutes before you receive nothing but coordinates. You pull up the map as subtly as possible, and as you guess, it leads to a nondescript one-story house. No details, but whatever it is, it'll work.

Your purchases for Jago- a big pirate hat, fake pipe (although you're pretty sure you can make it real enough with some tweaking) and an extra plate of armor called ‘Raider Shield’ that was primed for his hook hand that you’re pretty sure he’d like one way or another- are stored alongside Prima’s in a large plastic bag, and you walk out whistling a tune to yourself.

It's not very long for you get that same feeling of someone following you as before. This time, though, they’re too open to miss. It takes a bit of looking around, but what eventually does it is a window’s glare; just reflective enough for you to catch an eye of someone turned towards you; tall, with a thin goatee, and cowboy hat that hides his eyes- wait a tic.

It’s that guy. From the first tournament. What’s he…? Hm. Well, whatever he’s doing, he won’t be doing it long.

You need to lose him. Or, failing that...confront him somehow.

>-Lorelei can disassociate with her body, and astral project herself to a range of 50 meters. Anyone non-magical or minutely magical in nature won't be able to detect her, while magical individuals will see her mana spirit. She can attempt to possess and 'ride' anyone she comes across- if they are aware of her, it will require a roll, and consecutive rolls to remain in control. If unaware of her (sleeping or just unnoticed) she will remain unnoticed until she attempts to control their body, upon which the rolls will be required.
>>
>>2425040
dont we need to fall asleep to do that? it also costs 1000 mana, up to 3000+

>>
>>2425044
>dont we need to fall asleep to do that?
No, but we do lose control of our body during the projection. Maybe not the best choice while we're being tailed.
>>
The question we need to answer is why he is tailing us. Does he think we are involved with the thefts, does he want to know why we left to avoid being questioned by the police or is it out of concern? Maybe it's something else. Secondly we need to know if he's acting alone or if he is doing someone's bidding and in that case who.

The one time he saw Himawari in person was when we talked to that woman in the VIP booth and had no clue who she was. Aside from that, he saw us battling and the show we put on when Jago was hurt and we made a no-show, so I think that is the persona we should adopt right now. Act like a girl who is trying to deal with shock and stress by pretending that everything is normal. We bought a shield for Jago and that's perfect, of course little Himawari won't want to see him get hurt again.

I suggest we don't do anything magical or suspicious and simply act like we're trying to have a normal day off and put on a thousand yard stare if he ever gets close enough to see our face. It may not be an entirely bad idea to let this go on for an hour or two and then 'accidentally' bump into him and really sell him the "shocked girl narrowly avoiding a meltdown" act. He wasn't the talkative type so I'm sure we're not going to have to play 20 questions with him, Lorelei shouldn't have any trouble emotionally overwhelming him
>>
>>2425104
Maybe he is a pervert and wants some action.

But in all seriousness, i think he was hired by Aiba or Kyo because they got a weird hunch on us or something like that. Either way we should continue doing normal things, like going to shops or eating at a restaurant, until he gets bored of us and leaves. then we go to the safehouse.
>>
>>2425110
He seem more like a hired security man or a bounty hunter so i doubt he will stop tailling us.

>>2425104
Maybe they to talk with Big boy (the gargant we made sentient) and now he's following the lead that the AI gave. Maybe he's a pervert and likes to tail teen girls or maybe his real identity is that of mr. spark guy.
>>
>>2425135
But the gragant didn´t know our face, and as far as i know, he didn´t ¨see¨ us in his mind. Something else must have tipped them off.
>>
I think the best way to handle him is to try and lure him into a narrow area, where a normal person could conceivably spot him, and recognize him as someone from the tournament. Then proceed with small talk. If he keeps following us after that, we can act as if he’s stalking us, and contact the police. Basically, there’s no reason to tip our hand now, and trying to murder him would be in violation of our contract.
>>
>>2425150
Depends on how we show up in our ghost form. The Gargant seem to be pretty concious about our presence inside him. Thqt's kinda the reason why i'm curious how do we look like in our astral projection.

Losing a tail is, honestly, kind of a crapshoot. They can be easy to lose someone in a thicket of walking people, or it can take you forever if there's no one or anything to distract their attention. Fortunately for you, it seems like there's a heavy crowd today. Most of them seem like they're headed somewhere particular, but that's enough for you to be able to use them as personal cover. You dip down a side street and take a quick detour back up the road, quickly checking yourself to be in front of as many people as possible.

It takes a loop or two, but eventually you see the would be cowboy staring off into space, his head only barely shifting around. He's looking for you, all right.

After a few moments, you can see his chest heave, and shake his head. Seemingly casually, he takes out a cell phone, and begins dialing a number.

>Start heading towards the safehouse. No use in waiting around and risking it.

Immediately you force your hearing to expand beyond normal human capacity- whatever he is saying is bound to be important. You’d try to move closer, but this distance should be good enough just still here, even above the din of public talk. You’re behind him now, but you don’t want to risk anything if he turns around.

‘Lost her after a while. Don’t think she noticed me, though- crowd just got too big.’ His voice is mumbling, but you can at least make it out.

You strain to hear for anything coming from the phone itself, but that's too low even for you. “Not sure... Maybe, but I’m still not convinced she knows anythin’, though…Yeah, yeah, I’ll keep an eye out. You’re the one payin’. See ya tonight. Mhm? Oh, ribs. ...Well, we always get what you want when we have these little powows, so t’night I want ribs. ...Thanks, later.” With that, he hangs up and resumes his walk through the crowd.

Hm. Okay, so he’s not doing it out of the goodness of his heart (you can respect that). But that leaves the question of just who is signing his checks. You can immediately think of a couple of suspects, but you know full well that that doesn't always mean that one of those is the culprit. But, figuring that out (if you even care to) is going to have to go one of a couple of ways.

>Action?

It’s after a couple moments of keeping him in your sights that you already begin to feel that most persistent of problems, that being the creeping boredom. Well, blah de blah. If he's not all that interested in it, then neither are you. You’ll just have to make sure to keep a low profile around the city as you go ahead and do your work. And speaking of that…

Might as well get some use out of this safehouse. ‘Tail lost temporarily. Moving to safehouse.’

‘Use card for access’ is the response. Good to know.

It's, as you suspected, a simple one story brick affair, looking somewhat ratty on the outside and in serious need of a paintover job. There's a sign out in front that seems to indicate that it's for sale. You're pretty sure that that's just meant to be a deterrent, and to your surprise, there’s an easy enough way in through the back. Frankly you're kind of surprised that no one seems to have try to rob the place.

Inside, it's a much different story. The place is fully furnished and well kept, and a refrigerator is clearly working, as are all the lights. The bedroom has a rather nice, hand sized sculpture of a dragon, and- ooh, and there’s a nice set of vases lining the hallway walls, too. Not too bad, really! Part of you is kind of annoyed you didn't give you this place to yourself from word go. Maybe he just wanted to keep a closer eye on you…

Regardless, it's a pretty nice place. You'll have to definitely keep it in mind.

After you avail yourself of the facilities and then proceeded to take your leave, you find yourself warily looking about as you head on your way back. There's no sign of the cowboy, but really, he's probably long gone…

Oh. But that doesn’t mean you don't see somebody you know. Nia, along with her bot Sparkwing, who both seem to have come from their own little shopping spree. As you approach her by, she smiles, waving. “Oh, Himawari! It’s been a bit. How’re you doing?”

“Aha, I’m...doing okay, I guess.” You make a point of noticing her bags. “Been shopping too, huh?”

Nia nods. “Yeeah, Kyo and Tooru have really been practicing for-”

And it’s here, that you notice her eyes flit off to the side- for hardly a second, but enough to spark something in you. “-the next tournament, so I’ve had some time to myself lately.” she finishes with only a slight hitch, instead smiling widely. “Both of them managed to win! If they get through round three, they’ll be shoe-ins for the final rounds!” Sparkwing looks off in the distance, but doesn’t seem to be particularly concerned about the conversation.

>Oh, that’s impressive- especially after what I heard happened before it started!
>Good for them! What about you- you didn’t make it?

Hmph. Well. You’re pretty sure that she’s fibbing...and that means she’s hiding something. The question is ‘what’.

And you’ve got just the trick to figure that out.

Your eyes lock with hers, and suddenly everything falls away that isn't you and her- standing in the void, where only truth and lies exist, and you are the arbiter. You can see her shiver a bit, but she doesn't respond, nor does she break eye contact. Of course, that's because you won't let her. Not that she recognizes what’s happening- they never do.

“So, they’re hard at work training for that next, challenging tournament fight, huh?” you ask her.

“Y-yeah, like I said,” she claims. A red haze floats around her as she answers.

False. They are training for something else.

Not too surprising…

Alright, then. Moving on.

“So, you think they’ll be strong enough?” Without elaboration, she could take this any particular way.

“Yes...I like to think so.”

False. Her faith in their skill and power is shaky. Whatever they are training for, she believes it to be incredibly powerful.

Oof, THAT could be a nice source of drama if you wanted to use that. Friends not having faith in their friends? Naughty, naughty. Ah, but, need to keep going.

“D’ya know if anyone else training with them? It sounds like it’d be a great opportunity!” you ask brightly.

She frowns slightly, shrugging. “Well...there’s just a local boy, uh, Ken. He’s helping them out from time to time, and that’s nice…” And here the red haze shifts to a light green.

True. There is a boy named Ken that is working with them. He is not the only one, however, nor does she truly think it’s ‘nice’.

“Well, that’s good that they’re getting better,” you respond. So, it seems like there's going to be more than a couple of people dealing with whatever it is they're training for. Very curious. “Especially with what’s been happening lately. Like last time, I heard the news!” You make yourself shiver, and Nia tenses up a bit. “D’ya think the criminal’ll get caught?”

She purses her lips, sighing through her nose. “I...think so. I REALLY hope they’re brought to justice.”

True. She is somewhat confident they will be caught in due time.

Hm. Well, it's not a lot of information, but there's a few tidbits of information there that could probably help you keep an eye out for anything new. But as it stands it’s been a couple of minutes already…

With a breath and a blink of your eyes, you snap the connection, and with a rush the both of you return to the land of the living. When you look down at Sparkwing, it’s poking at you lightly- specifically, your bag of purchases. It doesn't seem to be doing anything specific, it's just...poking.

“Oh?” Not quite sure what it’s on about there, but Nia seems to notice as well. “Sparky, something up?”

“Nope.” Interestingly enough, it doesn't elaborate, simply choosing to poke the bag over and over again until you finally yank it away a bit. It looks up at you briefly, and you're not quite sure what to say about it- at least until you get a good look at its eyes.

Pupils. Same as Prima’s. You hadn’t noticed before- if only because it seemed to that these were a very similar color to her own emerald green eyes, and their odd, segmentation style design means it's hard to see them when you're not looking for them. That, plus your situation last time was more focused on getting Prima away- but now you notice. She’s got them, same as Prima now did.

“Except for the fact that I’m much cooler than any typical model of course thanks to all my customizations which means that I’m less of a typical model type than anything you’ve ever seen before.” Aaand she’s going around again to try to poke at the bag more. You casually shift it over to your other hips as Nia continues talking.

“She was kinda busted up because...well, okay, so, I got her as a gift. From Kyo’s grandpa, y’know? She didn't look anything like this though, she just had her frame intact and her AI core was a bit funky. Kyo’s gramps repaired her, though, and he gave her to me as a gift! Said I’d ‘know just how to take her of her’, which was really sweet of him.”

“Her...your eyes look cool,” you notice, as your split your attention between the both of them.

Nia stills for a half-second, but quickly recovers. “Oh, yeah, the segmented eyes- those actually are available-”

“Oh, no! Well, yeah, but I’m also talking about the pupils in the center- that’s a neat effect!” you pause here just for a second to take a look at her expression.

To say ‘frozen in the headlights’ almost wouldn’t do it justice. So you continue. “I haven’t seen those anywhere. Are they special optics? Custom, I’m guessing, right? Who did them?”

Almost immediately Nia shifts her gaze around, as though desperate for an escape. “Uh, I mean...I don’t...think...you’d be able to get them anywhere? The place I did, it, uh...closed down.”

Riiiiight. Well, whatever it was, she wasn't keen on sharing. But, you’ll let it lie for now. “Aw, that’s a shame. Say, where are the boys training? I want to visit them!”

She jolts, as though finally returning to full operational capacity. “Oh, uh, Ken took them to the X-Force Gym, I think...do you know where it is? I’d show you, but I really need to get home…”

“Don’t worry, I know about it!” you offer. “Thanks!”

She sighs in clear relief, and pats you on the shoulder. “No problem- hey, come on, Sparky!” After Sparkwing gives one last poke at your bag, she follows her owner off.

As for you…

I disagree, a decent amount of the missions with Mirandra didn't go all that smooth.

Much as you want to see just what they're up to as soon as possible, you do have some gifts that you need to get back to your own bots. You really think Jago’s going to enjoy the hat. And Prima…

“Here you go!” You hold out her parasol, showing off the blade inside. “Even has a matching pattern! Only the best for my robots!”

Surprisingly, Prima doesn't say anything. She just reaches out her hand, and gently takes the parasol from you, her eyes never straying from it. You how to say something, but it's at least a couple of minutes, and she still remains quiet, turning it over in her hands, as though inspecting it from every single angle and contour that she can.

...okay, getting bored. “Well? What do you think?” It’s hard to keep up that super-cheery smile when someone’s basically doing the equivalent of an inspection on your gift.

Her eyes flit back up to you. “...I...I don’t know how to respond. I wasn’t expecting something of this quality.”

...Really? That’s it? “...Thank you?”

She shakes her head. “I don’t think that would...express what I think I feel right now.”

>Just hug. Hug will do fine.

If you can tell an umbrella has a sword in it just by looking, it's not a hidden sword. However, they do know Himawari owns this particular umbrella. Prima showing up with it won't be hard evidence, but it would be mighty suspicious.

You just lean down, putting a hand on her head as you pat it a bit. “Well then...what do you feel?" you ask with a simple grin.

It takes her a few moment to think of it, but she looks you square in the eye when she responds. “Very, very happy.”

“Then it’s fine!” you offer as you wrap her into a hug.

“O-oh! Oh dear, yes, I remember this! Yes!” Quickly she wraps her arms around you and...well, it’s pretty cool.

Oh, and speaking of cool, you’ve got to give your pirate a little something, too…

“A very-well crafted topper, lass!” He offers once he sees the hat. The shield is something he takes to as well, although he's a bit unsure as to whether to have it switched out for his hook regularly or not. You can understand that, too- it’s definitely going to be dependent on what you figure you might need it for. The good part about it was that it was easily attach and detachable, so you didn't have to worry about setting it up too far in advance; it was wearable on his back like some other shields.

“Not to worry, lass- me enemies’ll break on this here shield like the tide ‘gainst a reef! He boasts as he gets a feel for the defensive weapon. Although that does bring to mind- testing it out. Wonder if the boys are still out there. It IS a bit later, after all, approaching evening.

Seems pretty final. We're going out looking.

Writing!

Well, hopefully you can find them there, regardless. “Glad to hear it,” you tell Jago. “‘Cause we’re going out for a bit!” You’ve got a few things to say to those kids.

“Where to?” he asks confidently.

-------------

“Welcome to the X-Force Gym!” the lady dressed in a tight-fitting one-piece greets you as she leans over. You can see down the hall behind her a bit, and it clearly leads to a large, open room that’s presumably the training arena. “Are you interested in a membership, or perhaps just here for a few sparring sessions?”

Eh? “Actually, I’m just in here looking for a few friends of mine, really; their names are Kyo and Tooru…?” You’d name Ken, but that might be suspicious...

Immediately her face goes flat, and she speaks into the microphone on her desk without a hint of the energy she just showed. “Kyo and Tooru please come to the front desk, you have a visitor.” She points at one of the seats in the pristine, red and white colored lobby. “Wait there, please.” No, seriously, where DID all that energy run off to? “It’ll be a minute as they’re both in Deep Training with their companions.”

Hm. Deep Training? Wonder what that is...

Looks like someone has a signup quota they're trying to fill. Or they just really hate Kyo and Tooru.

What role would jago fit if we bring him back? Prima would be great for tech support but I don't think our pirate is good enough to catch up with our main three enforcers.
>>
>>2427222
Prima would make an excellent field support; despite her speciality, she's still designed as a battle bot.

Jago may not have the punch of Miranda, but that doesn't mean he's wouldn't be an enforcer. He would just not have the rank as her.

Actually, with a third, offense-focused, bot we'd have a solid self-contained team: support, tank, dps.
>>
>>2427249
>self-contained team
You know, the class specializations of the bots would encourage operating them in teams, right? And they're roughly human-sized on their own. I wonder if anyone has designed a multi-bot body similar to transformers (one bot per limb, each bot's 'part' can operate on its own, etc)
>>
>>2427249
Not sure they are quiet powerful enough to warrant our interest in keeping them as part of SES. Also, I'm not sure Lorelei can make that call - sure she can bring Sal's attention if she believes she found something noteworthy, but as for the rest of the roster seats for SES, I think Miranda and Sal are the shotcallers on that part.
>>
>>2427373
Same. And honestly, as much as I do kind of want Prima around, I'm still not certain she should tag along. Same with Jago. They are nice, but I worry about them being able to pay dues.
>>
>>2426707
If we sign up (I think we have the money for it), maybe she’ll be more willing to help us?
>>
>>2427392
Maybe there’s a loophole for constructs that are sapient but are considered tools/servants?
>>
>>2427394
I doubt it, but I guess it would be worth asking.
>>
So. Since he said new thread on Friday, what do you think the first crossover will be? I saw some suggestions before, but anyone got any specific hopes?
>>
>>2427409
I'm hoping it will be something where Miranda will be able to show off her how powerful of a veteran she is. Not that she should overshadow what she appears in, but definitely hope to see more of her where we see her from a competent light.
As for genre it could be mostly anything, with outgoer work being as it is. Maybe hoping for something less mystery like and more punchy like. Never a huge fan of low-collateral or no-lethality riders.
>>
>>2427394
I believe this was already adressed, Handler stated that the robots as they curently were didnt count as people in the intersection, however with our experiments, that will probably have changed for Prima. As it stands, we could prolly bring Jago.
>>
>>2427409
I secretly wished for a crossover with heavenly child when it was running, but alas.

Death among the stars would be fun, esp if we bring Izumi. Panzer commander maybe, lol. God knows Richter needs help. DGA and beyond the gate will all fit very well too.

>>
>>2427373
I don't disagree, just showing there is a case to be made.

>>2427409
Maverick Hunter Quest you could almost maybe make a case for. Wonder what Miranda's rank would be?

>>2427439
If Rue had any money, it'd be useful to call down some help next time we get ourselves in trouble.
>>
>>2427393
? i doubt she could help us in something.

>>2427373
I wouldn't consider them "persons" per se. At least not jago. Probably neither prima, considering that Sparkwing seems to have the same relationship that the other robots have with their owners. Either way, they'd fit more as...tools or utilities rather than anything else, because they can be very useful to someone like lorelei and Mono.

>>2427409
Mecha space pirate quest; Miranda blowing mechas left and right would ve a sight to see, although it seems like wong is on his yearly half year vacation.
>>
Kinda want to see one of the girls as the Alien in Gantz quest.
>>
>>2427439
Same with Heavenly Star. DGA would almost be too perfect with the current story, but it'd also basically end a long running side plot prematurely.
>>
>>2427499
Wong disappeared after claiming he'd do a write up and get us away from the Scooby Doo assassin shit. Either work hit him hard or he really got fed up with the complaints. For months players made non-stop stupid and downright moronic choices, with piss poor reasoning and then have the nerve to whine about where it landed them.

But yeah, seeing Miranda there would be fun.

>>2427451
I haven't read Maverick, I know nothing about it. It looked like a megaman fanfic so I never went in.
>>
>>2427718
I started reading it because I didn't recognize it as megaman originally (didn't know anything about the franchise), and it didn't hurt my ability to read it. Hunter Command and Cain Labs are fantastic writers, and they've been running since 2012. It's one of my oldest favorites. I recommend giving it a try sometime.
>>
>>2427718
wong disappeared last year around this time too. Seems like he has allergies or headaches that fuck him up bad. With any luck, he will return by may or june.
>>
Interesting to see the suggestions. Good to know!
>>
>>2427409
I want to see some more Sci fi focused worlds like hive queen quest and stranded mech.
>>
>>2429287
SciFi is a little tricky. The higher the tech level, the lower the relative power level of SES. Stick us in a spaceship fight, and our powerset is now useless. Stick us on a planet or space station, and it might as well be fantasy with funky magic crossbows.

I love me some sci-fi, but you have to differentiate it from science fantasy, and that's rather difficult when trying to inject a particular character in a setting rather than writing a new story whole cloth.

Extra Credits has been running a series on the themes and history of sci-fi if anyone finds this sort of thing interesting: https://www.youtube.com/user/ExtraCreditz/ "Extra Sci Fi"
>>
>>2429287
Is stranded mech good? i've heard some magical realm-ish stuff that basically don't make me eager to look at it,

Stranded mech was cool until we walked into the magical realm of the elven god, smoked her marijuana, received an inexhaustible supply and traded a hit for an elf slave daughter and pizza.
