Seido-no-Shinpi-Tekina-Ken – a mysterious bronze sword given to Ryukusa by the mermaids of Japan; actually found to be the legendary blade Ame-no-Ohabari. Currently held by Inau.

Go-Yurei-no-Rensa, the Five-Ghost-Chain, used to summon or send messages to your (actual) older sister Ryuu Nabiki.

You pick up the last package – the last of the official packages, anyways – and kiss Kiki-hime on the cheek, whispering to her that you need to deliver one last present. The others, continue to talk and laugh and snuggle, and Kiki-hime encourages that for those who seem left out or a little less active about it, while leaving those into each other to their own devices. You've seen her do this before, silently and effectively taking command of a social circle and making sure everyone gets their say and their share of attention. Honestly your not sure if it's a trait of Wood dragonettes or aristocratic girls. There doesn't seem to be much difference in your (admittedly little) experience.

You walk over to where Rie sits, leaning back against the wall, a pair of silver bells in her hand. They're the kind you find on cat collars or on hair ties, rather than a ceremonial style of bell, but they serve much the same purpose in her hands, you expect. She watches you with those bright blue eyes of hers, her brows two dark spots above them, as you kneel before her. “Please accept this offering, Rie, for watching over my family, and being my friend.” She looks surprised at the second part of that statement, but it's true. She's taken risks for you, suffered as a result of them, and you've helped restore her to her true nature, albeit slightly changed. What other than a friend could she be?

Placing the box before her, you remain kneeling, hands on your things as she leans over and drags the small box across the ground to her, like a cat pulling something to themselves. Not surprising, but a little weird when she has hands. She pushes the lid off and then over, again in the manner of a cat rather than a human receiving a present. She stares at the object inside and her eyes get huge.

Slowly she reaches in, and picks up the heavy plastic ball with the fake aquarium inside. Little neutral buoyancy fish, and sharks, starfish, black sand, glitter, a bit of air for sea foam, tiny plastic plants with weights, and a colorfully painted and frill-finned mermaid as the centerpiece. The cat stares at the ball, fascinated and then gently shakes it back and forth to stir it up; the heavier glitter in the black sand sparkles as it floats around the stormy waters. The God's Eye Nekomata stares in rapt fascination and you smile, enjoying her pleasure in the toy.

Rie suddenly looks at you and speaks very softly, very seriously. “Thank you, Ryuu Ryukusa. 'S great.” You actually blush, the guardian spirit's regard and appreciation heartfelt.

“You're welcome,” you murmur before turning back to join the others, unsure if they even know she's there.

The next order of business is food, because you're pretty damn starved. Kiku-chan refuses, however – it's clear the thought of it makes her ill, and eating....well, you suspect that will end badly for everyone involved. Vomiting lava seems like a pain, and not a good one. Er Yin tells you that she'll take the beautiful dragonette back to their room for now; it won't be long at all.

While Kiku-chan is in delicate condition you're loathe to leave her master in the dark, especially about as something as dangerous and volatile as her mother being out and about in the world. Especially since Mo Ku Jen has made it known to you that she does travel to Japan and does try and keep an eye on her descendants – or at least, her descendant. You have no idea if Er Yin has any brothers or sisters, but you doubt she has any direct relatives aside from her father....but you can't be sure.

You definitely have no idea if she has children.

….you'll check that statement for grammatical sense later.

So you walk over, kissing Kiku-chan – whose body is quite hot, all of the time now, and whose lips steam when you lay yours across them – and then embracing your Seer. As you do so, you carefully open a channel through the Void to her.

(Er Yin, I believe your mother may be in Japan. She may even be looking for you, or looking out for you.) You seem to have hit a peculiar snag; like discussion Amaterasu-Omikami, you can't discuss what occurred in Diyu, including meeting Er Yin-sensei's mother. Discussing her in general terms seems to be fine, fortunately, so that's all right. (I can't tell you where or now I learned this, but suffice it to say she's as cleaver and dangerous as I am, and seems to be curious about you. I haven't told anyone else yet; I leave it in your hands.)

Er Yin stiffens, then forces herself to relax, stroking your long, long hair and smiling at you. (I appreciate your concern, Ryukusa-sama. You needn't worry for me; I am capable of dealign with her should she try and seek me out, though I believe this place is safe from most forces that wish to do us harm.)

(We've been wrong about that before – more than once, as I recall,) you point out dryly, much to Er Yin-sensei's amusement.

With that taken care of and feeling moderately reassured that Er Yin will call upon you if her mother shows up, You suggest food. Inau-kun and Shoko are clearly have much different plans in mind, and will undoubtedly be hungry after. Kiki-hime is up in a flash, and drags a mildly protesting Akari with her towards the kitchen, pausing only long enough to kiss your cheek and allow Akari to do the same – hurriedly. The rest of them filter out slowly, and you wave them on....you have one other thing to take care of.

Sometimes, you just need to relax. And while you enjoy dressing nicely, even at home, simple jeans (not painted on, but snug), a simple cotton blouse of a soft light blue and a turn-down collar (boy's shirt, you recall it being called, though yours is tailored for a respectable bust), and a baggy sweater that doesn't quite cover the entirety of the blouse, with the collar pulled through. The effect is super casual, and you have the feeling will get remarked upon a lot by the warriors in your little clan.

Stepping out into the living room, you get salutes and waves from those in your clan, and even shy little Fuuta-chan manages to come over and give you a welcoming hug. You kiss her on the forehead and she blushes cutely, while Rishi's tail lashes; her expression is a little confused, which is cute; she doesn't know whether to be jealous or just envious. Your mode of dress gets a slightly disapproving look from your sister, but Chisato and Kiki both approve, while Kei looks a little confused and Shoko doesn't deign to notice, as she an Inau—kun head towards their bedroom.

Which brings to mind something you hadn't really considered. “Ah, Shoko-san, before you go – what sleeping arrangements?”

Shoko smiles. “I petitioned the Landlord over the phone to have extra guest quarters put in; she gave us a set of rooms for multiple groups, and a new exercise room. He's been super helpful.” You do note she's taken to your use of varying nomenclature for the Landlady. Not surprising.

“Probably because of the failed efforts to assist us in keeping Kiki-hime safe and pest control.” Kei mouths the words 'pest control' and Yui explains quickly and quietly, causing the young sorceress' eyes to go wide in awe.

You waves she and her boyfriend off, and then settle into an easy chair, tucking your feet under you as Kiki and Akari take over the kitchen and nominate Rishi and Fuuta-chan for assistance. Rishi, good little warrior in training that she is, doesn't even grumble or complain – at least, not truly complain. She complains, but it's more a display of emotion, not anything that is actually complaining. Of course, when Fuuta-chan suggests she doesn't know how to cook or prepare food, Rishi is right there, assisting and teaching without complaint or grumble.

It's difficult to say if you should warn Rishi-chan about Fuuta's issues or not. She's wanted by Clan Ryo, and Rishi's family will try to get her back....something you don't think you're going to allow.

You make a pawing motion at the air, calling your sister over to where you are sitting as the living room is starting to become more lively. There's no shortage of volunteers for lunch duty – at least, you think it's lunch duty, since it's still light out – and conversations drift and wander through the room. Chisato is entertaining Peta, who seems to be making paper-craft toys and dolls to play with under Reiha's watchful eye; Kei-san seems to be speaking with a bemused Yui; and the others are cooking (or occupied in bedrooms).

Jinyuu-onee-sama glides gracefully over to you, literally floating inches off the floor, a sight that never ceases to amaze you even now. She smiles, a little sadly, but your smile seems to reassure her a great deal. Sitting catty-corner to you on the couch, you shift your legs to curl them the other direction, and tuck your hands into the rolled up hem of your sweater. “Are you enjoying your stay with my family and my clan, nee-sama?” She blinks, startled by your cute terminology. “I think they all like you a lot, or at least respect you. I know that Akari enjoys you being here. She sees you as her older sister more than anyone else.”

She inclines her head, brining her fan up only a little to waft air to her porcelain face. “To be honest I felt very out of place for a while. But as I have traveled and grown with your family, and learned about them, I have come to realize that you are a very lucky girl, Ryukusa.” You smile warmly. “Your family adores you, and your warriors admire you. Even those who do not fight cherish your attention and look to you for guidance. I did not expect my hyperactive little sister to become a warlord.”

“It wasn't really my original intention,you know. Just protect Kiki-hime, maybe ruin her for marriage, cause her family turmoil and embarrass her before her fiancée.” Shrugging mildly you gesture around you. “This was all an accident, more or less. Some of it was planned, but not as much as it might seem. I took advantage of what I could.”

Jinyuu-onee-sama smiles and lowers her eyes, amused. “Take every advantage, use every skill, turn every chance into more than what you have. Water fills all the spaces it can reach, does it not.” You nod, making little agreement noises. “I still worry for you....but not as much as I once did. I have discovered a faith in you, that I should have had from the start.”

“Don't mention it; you took care of me and Akari when you could, and your gift saved her life, a couple of times now. You have nothing to be sorry for, Jinyuu-onee-sama.” She smiles and roses slowly, responding to a summons from someone else across the room and behind you.

“I am grateful to my little sister for all she has done and gives to me; please continue to take care of me, Ryukusa.” She bows and you beam at her as she slips past you, her delicate fingers sliding along your shoulder affectionately. You reach up and touch her trailing fingers with yours, a few seconds of intimacy that speaks volumes to you both: love, trust, affection, hope, fear. Water dragonette etiquette.

Watching Reiha observe Peta-chan and Chi-chan is interesting. She is clearly concerned with the state of her mistress, yet she doesn't wish to trouble her. There is a lot of unspoken turmoil there, laced with faith and worry. Reiha, Peta-chan's stalking horse, interpreter, and caretaker. But how does she feel about Chisato's place in her mistress' life? That's a difficult, dangerous question.

She might be Peta's underling, but she's a nogitsune-born, and Peta's second in command. Chisato wouldn't stand a chance, her new magic eyes or not.

You rise form your seat in a single smooth motion, and slowly walk over to where Chisato and Peta-chan are playing. Although....now that you truly look over it, Peta might not actually be playing. Some of those origami dolls and solders are a great deal more complex and detailed for mere 'play'. The markings on some look more like those you saw on Himeyuri's onmyōji and Kiku's or your sister's talismans. Chisato hasn't a clue of course, but it does explain part of why Reiha's looking so concerned. Peta's preparing for war, in her own special way, and Reiha knows it.

“Peta-chan, may I borrow Reiha for a moment?” She looks up at you, blinking at you owlishly. Chisato sticks her tongue out slightly as she carefully places a tiny folded paper sword into the tiny folded hand of a small paper samurai. “Everyone else is busy and I'm pretty sure they'd jump me if they thought I was alone when I slip out to see the new additions to the house.”

Reiha starts to protest but Peta lifts a hand, brusquely waving off the older nogitsune. Reiha nervously bites her lip and then bows to her mistress before turning to you. “Where would you like to go, Ryukusa-sama?” Her summary dismissal doesn't seem to bother her too much, but she still glances between Chisato and Peta-chan. The tiny fox-girl ignores her servant utterly, which only makes Reiha more worried.

“Oh, just down the hall,” you say, waving to Kiki-hime and Akari as they sing in the kitchen to the sound of sizzling noodles and steaming meat and soups. “There are new additions to the house and I like knowing the layout before something terrible happens. I'm still Kiki-hime's protector,” you remind her gently. She nods absently and walks into the hallway, while Peta-chan stands up and moves to sit in Chisato's lap, which Chisato takes as a desire to be hugged and receive nuzzling and rocking with. Peta tolerates the affection with the same stoic demeanor, but her tail is quite a lot more lively.

Reiha walks you down the newly extended hall, which now makes an squared off 'A' or an 'H' capped off by the living room.

You follow her to the back, watching her with interest. You could use Water eyes, certainly, but she's been with Peta-chan a while, and you suspect that wouldn't be an easy task necessarily. Youkai-born, especially of the cat and fox types, are somewhat less easily fooled by such abilities and often find them easier to resist. You kind of wonder if that is true of bakemono.

Her troubled disposition doesn't clear up away from Peta and Chisato – if anything it worsens. Reiha is clearly concerned about something, maybe many things. She's obviously concerned with all the war preparation Peta-chan was doing; Chisato is ignorant of it, but you suspect she'll figure it out very quickly.

The extra rooms are actually quite spacious, despite having multiple bunk beds. Each has it's own desk spaces and chair, as well as bookshelves – the Landlord spared no expense for you, which you will have to thank her for later. Preferably not in person, but if you have to, you will. But you're making damn sure you're not taking another fall into the pits of that peculiar Hell. Surprisingly there are also windows – you really are taking up the entire penthouse area. Makes good practice for the warriors sneaking out without permission, though you're going to have to emphasize that you're on a war footing and people would just as soon kill them as capture them. Several of the areas have books and bedding already in place; there are also small but undoubtedly filled wardrobes or closets, depending on which wall they're on. You wouldn't be surprised if they held more than they should be able to either.

“Have things been going well since we shared sake, Reiha-san?” Your voice startles her out of her reverie, and she nods rapidly as you examine a closet. Maybe put interlinking, make them into potential escape routes?

“They are going....all right. The Familiar Spiritual Allies are invaluable, both for Chisato's organization and the Kurosune Clan alike. The Yakuza have not been causing us any further trouble since the play, and we've successfully kept Shinkai Yamada's people from harassing and interrupting Chisato's operations both good and bad.” By which she means both the ones you need and the ones she runs for her own boss.

You walk into another closet and feel around. Can't do much with the wardrobes, but these closets can definitely be adjusted. Maybe if you asked really nicely. “You know, being part of our clan as you are, you can come to me with any problems or issues you have, regardless of the kind or the situation. Even if it involves your clan and not mine.” You peek around the edge of the closet to look at her directly. “I'm here to help you – the sake works both ways, you know.”

She blushes a little and her tail-tip twitches. “Please forgive me. I didn't think it was that obvious.” You walk out of the closet and shake your head, which she seems to misinterpret. “It won't happen again....”

“Oh, no, that's not what I meant. I meant that you don't have to apologize.” You gesture for her to lead and she leads you to the next bedroom. Nothing is disturbed at all here just yet – you suspect that everyone chose to sleep in the single room. Considerate and eager to make friends. Very good. You're going to have to talk with Rishi for a bit; if she has Akari's issues, then she'll need special consideration. “I don't mind if you trouble me at all. In fact....”

It's your turn to lead her to the training room. It's actually more of a glorified exercise room, with mats hidden in a wall, and weapon racks as well as mirrors. “I was kind of wondering how you feel about Peta and Chisato's relationship. I know that she's older than I am – I mean Peta, not Chisato – but that doesn't mean it doesn't bother people.”

She looks down at the ground through her spectacles nervously. “Actually....” You pause and look over the racks of weapons. All sorts of weapons, some sharp and others dulled. “....I am kind of....” You pause and look at the hesitant nogitsune-born, her cheeks flushed and her tail curled under her body, along her leg. You merely watch her attentively, giving nbo hint of your concern and more importantly, no hint you're judging her for her feelings.

She finally blurts it out. “I think Chisato might have....designs....on my Empress....”

You stare at her, and bite back your immediate and slightly sarcastic response. She's genuinely concerned, and completely – well, mostly – ignorant. You're not quite sure where you're going to have to take this....Chisato might be in some serious trouble.

Hopefully you won't have to kill Reiha.
