I can’t really blame him for being appreciative of the person who saved his life and nursed him back to health, from the sound of it. It might be vain hope, but something doesn't really add up here.

She said she found that fevine all beat up yesterday MORNING. We just left the lab yesterday, probably around the evening after arriving in Maho for the first time, going to the lab, having all the starters battle, then having a snack and finally choosing cubcoal.

If we assume Fevine left IMMEDIATELY after us, it wouldn't have even left the lab until long after yesterday's morning was over, probably closer to the evening. At which point I've got to wonder...

A. How did it get beaten up immediately upon leaving if it left RIGHT after we did
B. How did it not catch up with us immediately if it left right after us
C. How did this lady find anything yesterday morning, following the last two points, if it would have had to have escaped closer to the end of the day/sunset in the first place in order to have NOT been right on our heels the whole time

And really those questions raise OTHER questions based on their answers. Something doesn't add up at all.

It would be one thing if we just asked for two starters back in thread 1 and Aspen was like "Sure, special MC buddy!", but at least a decent portion of the playerbase tried for a method to get Fevine as well. It led to Fevine escaping to follow us, backfired, and let us get to know Seb a bit better. We're on an adventure to find Fevine, who went on an adventure to find us, in a light hearted quest about pokemon. Since we're in honeydew, it hasn't even derailed our initial goal of being a courier.

Like, there's being okay with not getting Fevine because we picked Cubcoal, which is fair, and then there's being deadset on not having Fevine because you picked Cubcoal. The latter of which doesn't make much sense, and seems like a kind of selfish outlook. It's obviously going to annoy a lot of people after what we've gone through to find Fevine, even if they weren't initially in favor of trying to have two starters... And what does it really accomplish besides purposefully depriving a fair portion of your fellow players their own enjoyment?

Seriously, why? Write ins which play around with the narrative if the DM takes them on is like this is what makes quests, you know, quests. If I wanted to read something which completely followed MUH POKEMON MECHANICS I would have played the games or read a fanfic or something.

Also both possible speculations on how we could get both on the originally vote got pretty good traction from the other voters. It's not like it was only two anons screaming into the void. Plus there were some voters who liked Cubcoal and Fevine equally but were forced to pick between them because at first it was the only option available to us, I was one of them.

Kreep was an interesting and fun interaction that could have ended in a capture. Chiwip, too, had a good scene introducing it to the cast. They can take commands without looking at their trainer and I doubt anything in the tone of their voice signals whether to use ember or flamethrower.
