Waking up is either the best or worst part of the day for you, the warm sun and the feeling of a ram body nestled against you can make it great. But feeling the current solitude of your bed and not smelling any of Luc's tea in the air causes a grumble of annoyance.

"Minerva's light..." You say, yawning widely after your complaint to stare bleary eyed at the perch where Fox impatiently scratches at his meat bowl. As adorable as he is, the little guy's gettin impetious the bigger he grows. In fact...

Purps. Stop burning melight. Minerva childs from inside your head.

"Fiiiine..." You answer aloud, dragging your body out of bed like a zombie and dumping some dried beef into Fox's bowl. He gives you a heartwarming coo before the sounds of shredding talons and teeth remind you he is a predator by nature.

Thankfully you don't need to wear that silly Academy uniform or even the armoured robe Lexington has acquiesced earlier; instead you're back in your familiar white and black jacket. The crest on the back shining in the sunlight as you step off the wagon into what can only be described as a Summer Paradise.

Sparkling white sand coats the horizon in both directions, only split by beautiful black rock plateaus that have gathered masses of seats, benches and each one is just packed with people.

In the sky you spot a couple griffins riding the waves of the sapphire ocean; both the Red and Orange suns blazing overhead framing them like some kind of artist's life work. You notice oddly enough that even the Moon seems to be out despite the time of day, Darna's presence seemingly of no alert to anyone around you.

All around you there is happiness. Laughter lingers in your ears and everyone seems to be wearing a smile. Especially Minerva, the ghostlike mass of golden light seems to be a strange mix of your own shape and that of Luc's deceased mother. "Good Morning Purps."

"Minerva... how are... when did..." Your confusion is rather quick to melt away before the surging thrill that her appearance, "We need to hang out! I mean, you should spend whatever time you have enjoying yourself right?"

"Nothing would make me happier dear purps." Minerva says, tilting her head and smiling. An oddly young gesture for someone as old as the sun Goddess. "In fact, I rather fancied we oculd start practicing your sunshine fist; you have yet to see it's proper uses outside of combat have you?"

At that you hop down and take a deep breath of fresh air, both to clam yourself and stall for time under her rather motherly disapproval; "Come on! I've fought for like, seventy percent of my short life."

"As my champion I would have thought you would be excited to greet me every morning." Minerva fires back, you half expect a cane to sprout from her golden body and strike your knuckles, "But we should focus on more pressing matters; like the fact you are woefully overdressed for the beach dear Purps."

Again her strange mix of concern and expectation worng foot you, causing you to glance over your shoulder just in time for Fox to perch on your head and greet Minerva with a very Vupline scream. He preens under her scritching while you retort, "Well. I don't remember ever going to a beach Minerva. Or honestly, relaxing in the summer beyond the wagon with Hona. This is... kind of a first."

"Say no more." The Sun reassures, a warm golden glow surrounding you and settling into the fabric on you.

"Hey I like this outfit-"

But your protests are unheeded, the divine magic receeding and leaving more flesh bare. In fact save for a triangle of cloth in front of your womanhood and a vague covering, you're as close to naked as can be without comitting any offences. Looking down, you feel a new sensation; disocmfort at your own body. "I... never knew I was this scarred." You admit alud looking down at the countless deep gashes, bullet, stab and monster wounds your limited life has gifted you thus far.

"Whilst it is true life has left it marks upon you; always remember you're marks have been twice as powerful." She laughs, again a strangely young sound as she throws her head back, "And I've given you at least one good mark to cherish."

The flame tatoo just above your pelvis seems to pulse slightly in the light at her words and you feel confidence filling you again; the beach is absolutely crammed with people now. "Where did they all come from?"

"When and where they all set out from." Minerva answered cryptically. "Shall we depart?"

"Sure thing, but let's wander first. See a few places before we decide on one to practice on."

"That sounds perfectly agreeable." The translucent sun energy in the form a woman answers, turning about and heading off in a seemingly random direction. The two of you quickly leave the neat cobbled behind for what would be scaldingly hot sand to another pair, "It is quite a wonderful day is it not?"

"It is." You say quietly, marvelling in the sight of Starrk. The Academy professor has a quartet of children on his back, standing in for the standard pony or donkey ride such a beach would offer. They sing and the ancient Fae gives them all a smile that is equal parts joyful and mournful. "But I think complimenting the weather you're making might be a slight bit too arrogant Minerva."

"Well, for your information this weather is a collaborative effort. Gine and my brother also contirbuted to the efforts." She says it very atter of factly, but udging by the strange shift in the light's posture; you think she's a little defensive of her bragging. "Even Mal got involved providing those ridiculous waves." She points out and you only just get a scale of the waves, some towering to around thirty feet high. Yet no matter how high they loom, they seem very controlled and restrained, the few swimmers overpowered by the water are even returned gently on the warm sand instead of being dragged off to certain doom.

"Huh. I suppose even Gods get stir crazy and bored." you note, in regards to Mal actually interacting with the world beyond the oceans.

"Yes and speaking of my Brother." She gives what you assume to be a fairly cordial smile as she places her hands together, inclining her head. You've both come upon a collection of red tents bearing white and black flame emblems. In the centre of the circle rests a dragon, curled and lazing like a cat. Even flat on his belly the dragon stands around twenty feet tall.

The two of you Minervans look around at a full platoon of Red Sun Paladins, a redheaded giant of a man man standing with a trio of women and a very regal warrior who sharpens a greatsword topless.

While the red skinned almost nude goliath that you assume to be Octacvius leads you Godess aside, you're left with little direction or indication what to do in this camp of divine warriors.

Instinctively you find yourself stepping close to the dragon, it's crimson scales seem to drink in the light and absorb them. It gives off no glare despite each one's brilliance, seemingly solid and flat under your gaze and the twin suns' light.

As you approach the circle of ground that the dragon has trampled flat and hard to server as it's domain, you stop dead and run your eyes from the crested head down the beast's long neck. Odd, where Balthazaar was much larger than this dragon; he was also much more serpentine and less broadly built.

An eyelid opens, the slit retreating from the direction of the snout towards the back of it's skull. A voice, high pitched yet decidedly masculine addresses you.

Bold is the soul who would wake a dragon. Even if you've survived an encounter, I can't imagine antagonising me would be wise.

The words don't seem to come out of the dragon's mouth, but you do hear them rather than feel them like mind magic. In fact the words seem to sink into the sand and fall upon you like heavy hammer blows.

How am I understanding you? How am I speaking to you?

Two lines of smoke puff from the creatures nose as it makes an odd choking sound, it's head and neck swing around as it regards you fully for the first time.

When you snuff out a dragon's fire; some of the embers remain with you. Those embers both mark you as worth notice, as well as gifting you knowledge of the draconic tongue.

Sooo Drag-

Ynthal the Everborn. It corrects.

So Ynthal, why are you here with the Ocatvians. Claiming this area makes it seem like you're a creature of privacy.

I am a long way from my sanctuary old one. But it is out of obligation. While not of my blood, the red sun is my kin. I am obligated to attend, but not to participate.

You try to keep the confusion off your face, how the hells is he related to Octavius? In fact, how can he be obligated to come? Minerva did say this was cooperative, so maybe the Gods prearranged it? Considering the untimely appearance of Darna, is this some kind of crazy divine ceasefire?

If t isn't too presumptious, might I ask why you're smaller than the last dragon I met? He was also much more serpentine.

What was this dragon's name?

Balthazaar

Well, I am but a young dragon. As of yet I am not in adulthood proper. My stature comes from lineage and geneaology, Balthazaar was an aquatic dragon and ancient. So while he towers over me in most ways; his wingspan would not equal mine. Furthermore, while he could live and breath wholly underwater, unlike him I am able do the same in lava.

Against all odds, Ynthal has ended up being polite and pleasant to talk to. You were expecting this to devolve into a fight, not some imprompteu lesson on dragons. Thank you for the explanations. Your patience was unexpected and welcoing.

It was nothing Old One. Before our respective likewings return, would you be agreeable to showing me the unusual weapon you wield? Interesting items are a vice of mine.

Without hesitation you draw your saw and hold it in front of the dragon's eyes. The creature's head rising from it's front legs to snake all around the disc, he leaves little trails of smoke behind each smooth movement as his tongue lightly graces along one of the serrated teeth.

Ahhh dwarf work, extraordinary in it's simplicity...

You blink not wanting to interrupt the ensuing monologue, even in the wrird language Ynthal's speech is lilting and light.

No magic whatsoever, te how does it. Ahhh it binds itself to. But then it must have some kind of catalyst or reaction or else it owuld be naught but a disc. Oh, clever, very clever rockbloods. Indeed, hoard worthy, improving it would be an absolute pleasure.

It's amusing to see the dragon's entire body language change from languid and lazy to invested. The dragon's stubby red tail seems to weave and bob behind his body as the spines on that fifth limb seem to dance.

Worth the look?

You ask cheekily, the dragon's gaze lingering upon the saw before it turns back to you. Using the break in it's study to return it to your hip.

Indeed. A fascinating device. I would love to enchant it sometime, but today is not the right time. The suns appear to have finished their posturing. Thank you for the company, Old One.

You too Ynthal.

Inclining your head you step back from his area, the dragon returning to his sunbathing nap without hesitation. Minerva is waiting with a rather odd smile on her golden face.

"You make the most interesting of aqquiantances dear Purps."

You shrug and pull a cigarette from your pocket, lighting it. "I am an interesting oddity. Like attracts like."

With a rumbling of your sotmach you set off with Minerva towards the smell of grilled meat. Do you know who or what is cooking? No. Do you care? Also no.

"So what were you talking to your brother about?" You ask while sniffing the air, looking a bit odd, but it does help navigate you towards the throng of people seated on makeshift benches and eating a strange variety of meat using barrels for tables.

"Would you believe me if I told you we were talking about Divine gossip?" Minerva asks.

"No. I would not." You say sternly as you weave your way through the crowd into the bustling queue.

"Fine. We were discussing a disputed soul. It was obvious neither of us would cede so I left." She sounds genuinely annoyed for the first time since you've really known her. You've seen her furious in a sort of righteous wrath way, but never such a human display of disapproval.

"Huh, I always forget you have an afterlife type thing." You say as the two of you make your way towards the etremely tired man pulling double duty as server and chef.

"You can literally take the form of those who maintain the plane of existense on which I have placed my afterlife; how do you forget this?" Minerva sighs as the bodies in front of you clear out slightly.

"Yes and you kind of just jammed all the religious knowledge into my brain without warning; I'm still processing some of the weirder details of it." You frown looking at the two heavy plate wearing warirors. Each one holds a large stone slab with a menu inscribed on it.

"Well, this practice should help with that." Then she adds under her breath, "Once we're done whatever errands next cross your path."

"Well, at least your brother's dragon was cool." You shoot back, feeling a little childish and petulant as you come up to the serving portion.

The pale and tired man looking back at you has a pair of small glasses on his face with a pen and notebook in hand. He's not quite as tall as you, but his pointed and sharp features give him a arather intimidating expression. Behind him, a lady seemingly made of silverwater picks up plates to serve.

"What can I do for you?" He asks, voice surprisingly high.

"Can I get two guar dogs please?" You order, giving him your warmest smile. It's practiced and false but a close enough facsimilie.

"Sure. Six gold." A simple transaction but compleeted without any form of unreasonably violent action carried out.

"Wow that went better than expected." You say to Minerva as you step to the side to allow the chef to get to work.

"Your ability to avoid climatic battles from small misunderstandings today is amazing dear Purps." Minerva drily responds.

As the seconds tick by on your wait, oyu notice a small girl licking a small white treat atop some kind of pastry. To her side is a huge glass of milk and her unblinking eyes seem locked upon you while the tiny black tongue does it's work almost mechanically.

Waving slightly, you look around for the person who's shoulder she sits on or hand she holds, but Professor Haryan doesn't seem to be by her side. Instead she seems to float a solid six inches off her seat and pat at the seat opposite her in a strangely adorable yet oddly assertive move.

"Be right back Minerva." You tell her, skulking through the crowd to take a seat opposite the toddler. Her eyes follow your weaving and waylaid route without any difficulty blinking or error and when you're seated opposite her she still is yet to react beyond licking at that treat.

"Hey... Rosie right? Where's the Professor?" You ask, leaning forward and starting to worry slightly. Not about her safety obviously, mostly everyone else's, because whatever she is; being bound to Haryan probably means she's something serious.

She gives you a shrug, not even pausing in her consumation of the treat. It's another ten seconds of surprisingly terse silence before she moves the treat away to take a large drink of milk.

As she tosses back the huge stein like glass, you notice that although you hear the sound of multiple deep guls, her throat moves almost like liquid rather than the muscles of an actual throat.

Sitting opposite the girl, you simply content yourself with watching her mechanically precise eating.

Lick Lick Lick.

That strange tongue, looking every bit like some kind of gnarled but soft black bramble just slowly but surely begins to work it's way through her meal. Were you not already aware Rosie was far from an ordinary little girl, such efficient and precise repetition combined with absolutely no blinking or expression on her face.

Lick Lick Lick.

Watching her makes you wonder why nobody is more disturbed or unsettled by you whenever you're not experiencing emotions. Granted you just sound bored when you speak rather than being outright mute, but the expressionless and almost empty ways in which you conduct yourself should surely offset attention much more than it does.

Giving Rosie a wave goodbye, you find Minerva stepping forward to retrieve two guar dogs from the silverwater lady. Both of the manifestations of light share a small conversation before you make it into earshot. With your patron godess leading you away towards the rock and divvying out the breakfast.

The two of you begin munching away, the soft meat deliciously tender and garnished with some bizarre red sauce you never dreamed of. It's like the chef could read your mind to know how exactly you liked your food prepared or something.

And then you are hit by a cascading wave of sand; onlookers assume that the beach itself was upended and tipped onto your head like a sudden downpour of torrential rain. A burst of lantern is enough to turn the tiny granules to glass and a shake of your head sends shards flying over the surrounding area.

The look on your face teeters between violently furious and totally blank, a chilling smolder of frustration that has you approaching the new crater in the beach with a pair of revving claws attached to your wrists.

When you find yourself staring down at the bizarre scene of Honamurei bending back the arm of a giant. You can physically hear the two's muscles strain in mighty contest, the bones of the giant beginning to protest at the abuse. Her feet firmly planted, Honamurei has her foe on the verge of maiming, awide grin on her face as she tugs on the colossal forearm as if it were nothing but a lever.

Despite sporting a rather colourful black eye on her left side, she hasn't even broken a sweat. "Oh, hey Purps!" She waves, "I vought you'd never vake!"

Her brilliant blue eyes soften only when she addresses you and as always she looks at you like you're the only thing in the world. It makes your heart do somersaults even whilst your blood thrums with electricity; both the power and tenderness of your love in equal display at once in a moment that is just so uniquely you two.

"Who's your friend here?" Is a surprisingly casual sounding question considering everything. To further compound this surprise, it isn't Hona who starts to respond but her victim.

"I'm her Mo-" She is cut off by a savage kick that turns her elbow an arm almost ninety degrees; her giant pain fuelled roar rapidly turning into an agonising scream that you did not know any creature could make.

"She's a friend. Ve met vhen I lived in Meitgart." Hona interjects. "She should also know better zan rudley interrupting a conversation."

"Huh." You blink slowly, a childhood friend? "Is this an angry fight, sparring or one of those honour duels you tried to explain to me?"

"Oh no, zere are lots of people fighting on ze beach. Ve do it just to keep in shape and test each other against people ve vouldn't normally see!" She chrips, tilting her head and shutting her eyes with a downright angelic smile. "Ven I heard all the people who were fighting I couldn't resist!"

"Well... I'll. Leave you to it I guess honey." You slowly manage to get out. Looking down at the Giantess clutching her limp and useless arm as she begins working her way back to a vertical base.

You're about ready to leave but in fact turn and step back towards her as she begins speaking in threatening giant to her victim, "Just before I go. Have you seen Lex anywhere?"

"Vell I think I saw him talking vith all ze wizardy types. About two minutes that way." She tilts her head with a smile, "Vould honestly avoid it, even listening to their chats made my head hurt."

"What else is new? Just uh, come find me when you're done smashing all the fightin, okay?"

"Sure thing Ma'am." She tries to give you a salute, but apparently the now injured giantess was playing possum; quickly getting her knees under her and rolling onto her back with Honamurei beneath her. Both of them begin grappling and shouting in their native tongue, another miniature sandstorm being kicked up in the ferocity of their contest.

When Minerva rejoins you, the two of you give the ever growing crater a wide berth and navigate your way towards a outcrop of blackrock that stretches slightly further into the ocean than others; populated by oddly built harpies who dive and sweep into the sea before they fly into the sky in whirling twisting dances of feathers and claws. Aside from those harpies, a few weathered and determined old fishermen give polite nods or signs of Minervan worship to you two.

Until you both come to the very end of the rocky finger, a lady almost as tall as you with long flowing blonde hair stands statue still. Occasioanlly the breeze catches her hair and reveals a little more of her muscular figure, against the backdrop of blue she cuts an intimidating yet familiar figure.

"Jo." Minerva says softly, almost like a mother, "We are sorry to have tarried."

Your sunsister from The Academy looks over her shoulder, a wide smile on her face. "Don't worry about it Lady Minerva! It's so peaceful in this spot that I barely noticed."

"Hey Jo, I had no idea you were here." You interrupt, little flecks of gold coming off your hair at this development. "I didn't know you knew Sunshine Fist?"

She puts her hands on her hips, a surprisingly feminine gesture for someone who tries to keep up masculine appearances. "C'mon Purps; I'm not exactly very complicated. I'm Minervan and a warrior. You think I'd pass up learning on what would combine 'em?"

"I thought that both of you could use some time with the technique." Minerva adds, "Since you've thus far only used it in battle."

> Wanna Spar?

> Who taught you Sunshine fist?

> Well Minerva, why don't you start your lesson.

> Hey Jo...I wonder if we could both take Minerva if we teamed up?

"Hey Jo, ever wonder if we could take Minerva if we teamed up on her?" You ask with a very calculating look towards the Godess; the translucent golden form raises one of it's eyebrow facsimilies at your comment.

"Well, I always wondered what we could do as a team, but I never thought I'd trin with nevermind ight Lady Minerva you know?" The amazon puts her hands on her hips, "I mean I-"

"No. You could not take me." Minerva corrects, taking a step away from both of you and spreading her feet to be shoulder width apart.

"Is that a chalenge?" You say, rolling your neck to drop into your own sunshine fist stance, feet shoulder width apart with bent knees. Your left hand is palm forward while the right is a fist by your hip.

"No. A statement of fact, though I will allow you to prove me correct." The Godess bends her knees slightly as she beckons you both to come.

Jo suddenly looks hesitant, still standing with her hands by her sides and stock straight. "But my Lady we-"

"Are being offered the chance to learn from A Goddess." Minerva finishes, "I will hold no ill will for you attempting-"

With all your speed you dash forward and aim a strik at Minerva's cheek, the blow causing the wind to part before being unceremoniously blocked by her golden palm. She is still looking at Jo, "-attempting to hit me."

She lets your hand go and you aim a palm strike for her gut with the left hand this time, feeling it be brushed aside. A knee is intercepted by her own and pushed back just as swiftly. Using the momentum and amplifying the force with sunshine fist, a spinning elbow is likewise useless before the Godess' forearm.

Your speed and power are almost embaressingly insufficient as you burn through the very limited resevoir of momentum your technique has stored; every single attack no matter how inventive, precise or powerful is blocked with almost insultingly casualness. Abandoning your strategy and finesse you let out a frightful roar and send a barrage of fists towards Minerva; planting your feet and unloading with everything you have.

Like a golden blur her hands simply divert, catch or swat your attacks off centre. As much as you are an unrelenting force in this exchange, each and every punch's block is enough to turn Mal's giant waves to nothing more than foam in the sky - the backdrop of this scene shifting from a display of the Ocean god's power to a statement of your power punctuated in such thick white spray that the rock looks surrounded in mist.

She strikes once, apparently having tired of your one dimensional attacks. One of your thousand punches is not diverted or blocked; but dodged whilst the Godess takes a step back and spreads her arms.

While you seem to stumble in slow motion from your overreach, she rotates her arms and brings both to a single point much in the way you would to bring metal to you with your gauntlets.

And then she pokes you in the stomach.

She seems to get very far away very quickly.

Like a bullet you streak past Jo, the violence of your flight enough to send her sundress and long hair wild with the jetsream.

Her hesitation is only a second, before she adopts her own sunshine fist stance. But by the time Minerva has taken a step towards the Amazon you strike the beach with far more violence than Honamurei's landing earlier. Boring through the hill like dune and emerging on the other side with a long deep trench marking your path, it allows for a moment of introspection and analysis.

After examining every second of the fight with the instincts of a fivehundred plus year old warrior you come to a conclusion that both hurts your pride and strengthens your resolve. When you speak, your phrase your findings very succintly; "Fucking Ow."

Contrary to popular belief, your rigourous testing has concluded sand not to be soft or supportive in times of great need or when faced with rapid acceleration and speed. While you file away your brilliant deductions for later when you drink with Lex; you make all due haste back to the battle. Legs working overtime to retrace your steps and move from the beach to the plateau where Jo is putting up a stubborn reisstance to Minerva.

Her stance is alien to you, her arms tight against her body and only her back leg bent as is she is preparing to do some kind of reverse handspring at all times; but however her variation of the sunshine fist works - her hands have the telltale golden gleam and it is allowing her to stage a fighting retreat agains the Godess' frighteningly accurate and powerful strikes.

Minerva still burns of the tank of power your frustrated assault had gifted to her, using the extra force to bypass the areas Jo is absorbing from and pick open holes in her guard to wear the devout girl down. Every single body blow causes cracks in the rock beneatht heir feet and it is obvious your assesment of a fighting retreat was much less fighting than you thought.

Jo seems to be just hanging onto her life in the battle, when for whatever reason Minerva decides to capitalize on one of her openings, her left leg glowing more intensely than the rest of her when it swings for Jo's ribs.

But where Minerva saw an opening to take, she simply gifted you one of her own. Sliding to a stop by Jo's side on your knees may take the skin completey off it, but it allows you to reach up with two glowing hands and stop her kick.

Minerva's kick hitting your sunshine fist gifts you a staggering amount of force, enough that you're frightened just how much damage it would have inflicted had it connected. For a half mile behind your back the water is blown sky high or into nothingness, with countless weaker partiers being sent to their backs or into the air by the shockwave of the blocked blow.

The power of a God, stopped by your own two hands. "So..." You ask Jo with an eager smile as the girl corrects her footing. "Who taught you Sunshine Fist?"

Throwing the Goddess off with ease, she is sent back a couple steps, enough space for you recover your posture. Dropping into your stance after briefly hitting Jo's hand with your fist; while not exact it's as close to a fifty fifty split of the power you can eyeball.

"I learned myself. There was a book in the temple..." She seems a little shaken by the power on display between the two of you, "So I followed it and it kind of worked."

"You should have seen her." Minerva reminisces, "Even as a child she had that regal power about her." She begins readying herself, "But seeing her self teach? The little face as she tried to copy the stance as a little girl? Adorable."

Jo blushes but you pat her backside to focus her up and reassure her, "Hey, don't worry. I'm self taught too. And there's nothing wrong with looking cute huh?" You give her a little wink.

"Y-yeah. Now, let's do this!" She claps her hands together and gets back into her weird leaning back palm strike version of sunshine fist. "Sorry Lady Minerva, but we're not giving up yet."

"She's right. No matter the uses outside of battle; it's served us well in a fight so far. So we're going to stick with what we do best!" This proclamation allows you to get into your stance.

"Very well children. I shall lecture you on the uses of this technique outside of battle, whilst I humour and trounce your more barbaric urges." Thankfully you've fought with Honamurei enough to see the gold streak coming towards you and clash your fist against hers; "Prepare yourselves!"

Jo is more than prepared, as your clash with Minerva ends in stalemate she steps in and attempts to send the back of her hand into Minerva's ribs, bringing the Godess' leg up and leaving your patron perched on one foot as she aims to shrug off Jo's strength.

It's as simple as sweeping the only part of her attached to the rock to force her onto her back; the two of you pursuing her retreating roll.

But when she rises she meets all of your probing attacks and then some, the doubling of her opponents seeming to do little to put a dent in her confidence or capability as she repeats the same song and dance from your first assault so little time ago.

Thought you hold back most of the energy you've stored and siphoned from Minerva's few counter attacks in this flurry; you know that every failure to break through her guard is only amplifying the resources she has available and diminishing your own; not even taing into account whether Jo is able to similarly hold her own stored energy back from her attacks.

You need a plan.
