Objectives

The path to restoring your memories might not be so clear-cut anymore; the Blood and Zipangu rituals could still become your solutions, albeit with possible complications because of recent revelation about the Throne.

Sieglinde is preparing a suppression of the undead forest, scheduled to happen around day 16. You'll have to resolve your own stance on this - she's preparing to involve people who've taken your ancestral lands for themselves.

Someone put a geas on you, resulting in making a Rune of Passage inside Daiyu back door! You've thankfully managed to convince the Demon Lord of your innocence in exchange for making a binding oath. How you deal with this remains to be seen.

Side activities
Your two unused privileges from gambling with Elina and Sieglinde remain available.

Further activities decided in the thread will be noted here.
>>
Here's a summary of important things and recent events, I might post it at the beginning of my next threads. Feel free to correct me on a few things I might have missed.

Recent Happenings.

The girls duel ended inconclusively, in cultural term this translate into all wagers being void.

Elenor has been recruited into the Red Guard, thereby gaining Zazawu influence. She has been disowned by her adoptive family, the Jucunda, as a result of wanting a fair end for this fight.

Elenor revealed an interesting development. She was tasked by her adoptive mother to make Vilma life miserable shortly after the lich arrival at the academy. It is suspicious timing because it coincides with Teruko troubles when the administration left her languishing for an entire month; the stretch of time Vilma suffered the worst. From there, things proceeded into the story you know with their feud, culminating with a second suspicious order. Eveline tasked Elenor to bring Vilma out of the academy walls.

What Daiyu and Sieglinde will do with this information remains to be seen.

Finally, Elina intends to make a brief sojourn in Zipangu when it'll be convenient.

Important information about your origin.

The Demonic Throne is a maelstrom of Corruption that erodes people of their individualities, making survival extremely unlikely for anybody with a soul as they'll be reduced to little more than starving spirits. How you survived is a mystery.

The Demon Lord isn't the only one who can interact with the Demonic Throne. People have been known to survive short exposures inside of it.
There's been a significant gap of twenty years in Daiyu reign where guarding the Throne wasn't a priority.

Daiyu acknowledged the possibility that you could have been dwelling inside that pillar before she came into power.

Elina spoke of students sharing a dream about a ''protector'' after she came to the academy two months ago.

Day 09

It was a sluggish new morning inside the enclosed world of Mamono when you came to, snuggling peacefully inside Sieglinde bed. Yesterday events with the duel, followed by meeting an ancient general and catching a deeper glance at Elenor personal life (and the angel confession), had ended with light festivities after the Hour of Lullaby. The princess showed rare enthusiasm when activities moved into her room and allowed a somewhat moderate flow of alcohol mingled with a reasonable feast to bring a final, proper resolution with Vilma's battle (poor girl was forced to remain on the bed because of overcast).

Your head wasn't pounding and nobody was sprawled into a mess of limbs on this massive bed because her royal highness had remained composed throughout yesterday night, making herself a busybody to prevent excess. Blinking sleep out of your eyes revealed all the trays and empty plates that had littered the places somehow stealthily disappeared; leaving you with feelings of dreadful awe at Sieglinde squads of dutiful maids who somehow always managed to remain out of minds.

Soft lights filtered from weakened lamps, bringing a lonely atmosphere inside the windowless room. Another luminescent of golden disposition on the far side of this place highlighted a soft red-winged angel speaking in hushed tones with Sieglinde whose large deadly tail danced a spirited back and forth, hinting her passionate emotions.

One glance at one of Belphegor makeshift clocks revealed this morning to have considerably advanced yet none of your remaining snoozing friends were disturbed, Daiyu absence felt rather worrying. Yes, she proclaimed to trust you after yesterday interrogation but if you've somehow gotten up again to do another suspicious thing...

Well, you won't run away from your oath. It still felt jarring to have the Demon Lord scrutinizing you. Slowly extracting yourself out of these warms bedsheets, you immediately caught the girls attention.

''Doing good?'' The angel greeted you, handing you a glass of water after you bridged the distance.

''Yep.'' You casually answered, refreshing your dry throat. ''Fully recovered.''

''Vilma clung to you all evening.'' Sieglinde whispered, gazing at the four remaining bodies snoozing on her bed. ''I'm not so sure it was about nibbling little pieces of your soul for recovery, planning to stick with her today too?'' A knowing glitter in her gaze revealed further teasing desires she was forced to hold back on because of present circumstances.

''Yesterday was her day, we had to let her do whatever she wanted.'' You fought the urge to rub the back of your neck and pretended to look for food, breakfast was still being cooked by maids outside the room: faint traces of sweet mingled with meat titillated your nostrils.

''She hasn't asked anybody else with that feeding ya know?'' Elina said, imitating Sieglinde smugness. ''I tried breaching the topic in the past but she always dodged the issue, you must taste better than random spirits.''

''Maybe I could ask her to teach me how to snack on people essences, sound like you're curious to know your taste.'' Your response earned a set of surprised blinks that had you hurry along for a change in topic. ''I'd love to be lazy today but sticking around doing nothing would be boring, you guys got anything planned out?''

''We'll be keeping things a bit open.'' Sieglinde answered, a few grunts from the bed revealed a goatly Supreme uncomfortable awakening. ''I'd like to make sure there won't be any trouble this afternoon with that disownment business, I've also spoken with everyone yesterday to learn their schedules, you can do whatever you want Arawn.''

''Being free like that feels a bit imposing.'' You responded, resisting the urge to rub your stomach.

''Call it a blessing.'' Sieglinde gently tapped your chest. ''We're in a bit of a low activity phase: once Zipangu and the people in the elven forest start moving, me and my mother won't be able to hang around as much anymore.''

You almost slipped a wince after hearing about your homeland, Sieglinde didn't seem to catch this momentary awkwardness of yours so you decided to swallow it down silently. You'll have to resolve your feelings on this matter soon enough, what's with this Suppression coming next week... And perhaps catch Elina sometimes to discuss her objectives, you can't agree with her desire to stop being Teruko students - even if she intends to remain here.
>>
>Your time for the foreseeable future is entirely free, you as players will need to agree on a schedule and things to do. Listed below is a list of the girls planned activity.

Whoever is free can be asked to accompany you for any activity of your choice because of your friendly relations. Having someone help you can be beneficial or detrimental based on what you want to do; keep in mind they're skills and personalities.

Morning.
>Belphegor is free.
>Daiyu will be busy inspecting the academy for more runes.
>Elina will be training with Hao.
>Sieglinde is free
>Teruko is planning to visit Elenor with Vilma.

Afternoon.
>Belphegor is free.
>Daiyu is free.
>Elina, Hao and Vilma are going into Throne Town to see Mimiru.
>Teruko is free
>Sieglinde will be taking care of some administrative concerns.

Here's a small list of possible activities, keep in mind this is not exhaustive. Were done with the intro so you guys can fully decide on what to do now that you've gotten a good grasp of Mamono culture and your general situation.

>Training (magical or physical)
>Research (specify subject)
>Badger Belphegor to help you out with getting better at handling Magitek.
>Free

I've decided to change a few things about training, you can still read my old post in this thread (easily identifiable with the bold in it). http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2452695/

Intensive training will no longer give you four timeslots, the potential gains remain in the same. In exchange, your slothful nature will have you rest for the morning afterward instead of losing your entire day.
>>
Aww yiss, more Tale of Monsters! Been looking forward to this.
>>2745649
>Morning: Research(History of Elves and Luminaris)
>Afternoon: Talk to Daiyu about your discoveries in the Throne
I feel like it's time we get these out of the way.
>>
>Morning: Belphegor

She has shwn intrest in our potential with those magitek thigies, so let's spend some nice time with her. Perhaps plot with her some mischief to tease the girls later on?

>Afternoon: Daiyu.
It is a good time as any to get the geas thing resolved. I recall we had volunteered to undergo one, and the quicker it is dealt with, the better. We could also use this chance to discuss any important matters still left over to discuss, if there were any. Daiyu won't be around the Throne forever, after all.

I'll wait a little longer than usual for votes and/or agreement before locking things since time is your most precious commodity. I'll likely offer a compromise between the given choices if we get different opinions on what to do.

I can switch to spending our morning with Belphegor so we can keep the ball moving.

As long as we get some research into our homeland's history done at SOME point I'm content. I feel like we shouldn't be involved with the political side of the Suppression mission until we have more information to form a consensus on.

We can either go with dice result or, since this Anon is being generous, spend our day this way.

Morning
>Exercise magitek with Belphegor.

Afternoon
>Take some time to talk about the Demon Lord. (More than a single subject is possible here, I'll expand on it once we get there.)

Once I get a confirmation I'll get the ball rolling, or I'll go with the dice if nobody gives their voice in 15 minutes.
>>
Alright. Perhaps when we are on our own with Dayu we will be able to learn more about Luminaris and the elves's history from her, provided she hasn't told us everything she had to tell us already.

That way we'd kill two birds with one stone.

Goat and Demon Lord it'll be. A nice day off with Supremes
>>
''Ya know, I thought you forgot about that stuff after that messy fight with those plants zombies things.'' Belphegor interrupted herself with a yawn. ''Kinda felt like doing nothing at all, it's kinda lonely when my usual assistant aint here but hey, nothing like a lad to get old bones motivated.'' Her sentence was a half mumbling complaint that kept being interrupted by yawns as you stood beside the short goatly demon in front of that hidden elevator.

It had taken another hour for everyone to prepare, eat and, as Daiyu liked to put it, ''feel alive'' and your insistence to try out magitek had genuinely surprised Belphegor enough to eat her breakfast quickly.

''An assistant?'' You asked as walls shook with the descending coffin of metal.

''Martha, Daiyu second kid.'' Belphegor stepped forward, putting one of her clawed hand on the retracted door of stone as it opened into that oppressively small elevator. ''Lass be a miracle worker with her hands.'' Belphegor winked at this innuendo. ''She somehow makes things work like it's an art, very few people can match those crafting skill, the problem is she's a lazy bum.'' The goatly demon got inside and you followed her, keeping silent as she slowly but surely began to properly wake up by being chatty, describing this Martha skill with a mixture of awe and criticism that made you increasingly curious about this last daughter of Daiyu.

Belphegor lab had somehow made a total turnabout in cleanness and the stomping, rumbling steps of those rocky humanoids revealed their presence somewhere in this open hangar of makeshift rooms. Fresh winds from the barred windows on the east brought comfortable morning air from the faraway ocean and Belphegor clomping feet skipped a few steps here and there, telling of an enthusiasm she somehow tried to conceal.

''I got testing rooms further in, I can tell Bob and Bobby to bring stuff so let's get there.'' Strange geometric symbols imprinted inside the skin of her left arms came to light in a manner similar to Focus. ''It'd be better to ask what you wanna do, actually since Magitek can also control golems.''
>>
''Would that be a prerequisite to being allowed with...trying one of your marvels?'' How could any man not feel honest marvel and genuine excitement at trying out such technology? It still filled with an annoyingly invasive feeling of bashfulness; Belphegor stopped walking and grinned broadly.

''Golems would help with piloting Arnvidur, they work on a similar concept while that suit can be hellishly draining. You're an ambitious lad, eh?'' She licked her lips, somehow producing a snapping sound with her claws. ''Well hey, maybe soul magic is compatible with Magitek, who knows? Teruko and Vilma compare you to paste, which honestly sounds almost naughty to me, you'd be a whole lot more useful as glue''

''I'll... refer to your judgment on that front. I'm not certain what part of my nature would please women the best, not like I can change it.'' An eruption of cold sweat in the morning is perfectly healthy, this navel-height goat enjoyed watching you squirm.

''Ey, ey methink mages would love some sticky Arawn aye?'' She winked and you groaned, looking into one of those horrible steel wall. ''Anyhow I'll tell you what's what. Morning is fleeting.''

>Pratice handling the strain of Magitek weapons. This is the basic of basic if you'd like to broaden your individual capabilities.

>Pratice the handling of alchemical constructs - golems. This is a relatively new field (almost two-decade-old) and can significantly increase your threat-level as a person since you'd be able to handle several semi-independent weapons.

Deeper explanation and rolls will come after a choice.
>>
Let's try Alchemical constructions!

>Pratice the handling of alchemical constructs - golems.

Maybe we can spezialize in the future in small utility golems or things like that? Is that a possibility within this setting?
>>

Our magic is already support-oriented, I'd rather have something for ourself.
>>
Rolled 1 (1d2)

>>2745871
>Maybe we can spezialize in the future in small utility golems or things like that? Is that a possibility within this setting?

Yes, there are several smaller constructs that act in a supportive role. Bigger golems are the soldiers, Drones are a proper menace as you've witnessed in the forest.

Unless I get a change in vote, I'll go with dice. I do hope nobody is dissatisfied with any of our results since we are slowly but surely crafting our character capabilities.
>>
No dissatisfaction on my side, hehe.

Also, for some reason, it doesn't feel like we are giving up on the first of these two choices forever, so if this first choice were to not work out in the end, I am betting we could always come back and try the other one.
>>
>>2745910
Indeed, Magitek handler is pretty much an entire class of its own. You'd be handling it differently as a non-mage but there's no need to worry about that now.
>>
Eh, the dice fall how they fall. I can live with this.
I'm personally trying to avoid Arawn ending up being completely reliant on friendlies/golems in any combat situation. Crippling Overspecialization, you know.

Belphegor ''practice'' room was a reserved area kept a fair distance away from anything else on the northwestern part of this grand lab, walls erected around the huge gray stones of the altar contained ominous traces of soots. Broken pieces of metallic machinery laid strewn about like innards, Belphegor innate disregard for cleanliness would likely send any self-respecting maid into a panicked frenzy: no wonder this entire area looks to be an enclosed chamber.

''Liking that weight around your waist?'' Said the smug goatly girl as she snapped the steel belt of Stanislaw limbs closed, giving it a firm shake to rise a remark out of you.

''It's comfortable, feels downright natural.'' You replied while fiddling with one of her magical gauntlets, the ''XYZ'' of fire required a few clamps to close around your non-primary arm, something Belphegor insisted on because it was possible you'd run a risk of numbness after several spells. Apparently, the fingers were adjustable for both hands.

''Good, always important to get that blood flowing. We ain't gonna do nothing complicated, those limbs are a constant drain so now I wanna add the experience of actually using a magitek weapon, ya got a whole lot of reserves if I'm to trust Teruko assessment so combining dem two oughta be fine.''

''Oughta?'' You repeated, opening and closing your hand covered by the blue metal of this magical gauntlet. the addition of those rubbery tentacles added a weight in the back of your head, a sensation you could describe like having grown long, weightier hair. You know you could manipulate those solid, flexible things like your own arms.

''Don't go making the monumental fuck up of overloading that gauntlet with magic. Magitek weapons got a bit of a problem since they break if you go overboard unlike a big old spell, still work in a desperate situation as a surprise fuckery but that's a one-time thing.'' One of Belphegor yellowish eye closed as she examined the glowing rubies of her XYZ, your embrace of Focus activated them, creating a pretty cluster of orange-red. ''Stick to medium strength, mages always have different meaning with a heavy load.'' Belphegor wiggled her fingers at that remark, a cruel glint in her gaze telling she was remembering something particularly nasty.
>>
''Middle ground, right.'' You weren't about to insult your benefactor by ignoring her warning but you -did- feel the excitement of trying out this thing and, without warning, your thrust your palm forward and pointed at the soot-covered wall...

Fwoosh! Your nature of soul somehow transformed to flames, creating a ball of fire the size of your head charging forward like an arrow and exploding into the wall in a worrying cacophony of dying inferno, creating a strange gunk blackness that seemed almost slimy.

''Oh yeah.'' Belphegor loudly sniffed, apparently liking this odor of invasive heat. ''Pretty good, Magitek fire got this stickiness to it, pretty nasty huh?''

''Taking it into a forest sound dangerous.'' You responded, poking your palm that showed no change in temperature. ''Not feeling anything out of the ordinary...''

''You'll get a strain in an hour or two, if ya want we can be bold and add another gauntlet.'' Belphegor broad smile had a definitive edge of sadism into it. ''Could be a tad painful but hey, nothing ventured nothing gained. Mix and matching sets of stuff is how Magitek work.''

''Let me think about it...'' You were only starting out, though could it be possible you've got a knack for it? Or is it your unusual magical nature making things easy for yourself?

>Stick to a single gauntlet and practice all morning in handling the strain of Magitek. Better safe than sorry. (You'll automatically gain a perk)

Despite Belphegor confidence in your abilities, you could tell your consent to add another weapon brought a protective urge out of her because her chatting and teasing jabs grew quieter, those dull yellow eyes of hers kept a sharp, concentrated glare on your body as you fastened a lightning gauntlet and began to work.

You had already been informed about these weapons in the past: the took twice the usual amount of energy in your reserve to create an equivalent spell, essentially making each use of a ''medium'' strength fireball into what you'd class as a heavy load so you had to be conservative in its uses with that addition of those flexible limbs of alchemical muscles.

A smell of sulfur mingled with the scent of ozone as you mixed your weapons effects, roaring flames couldn't hold a candle to the sharp crackling of thunders that demanded several tries to get used to without wincing, purple electricity zapped continuously at your will, digging into the heavy stones... and like this you exercised for the entire morning, with Belphegor imposing several pauses to inquire about your state.

The strain of Magitek imposed itself with a feeling of... gravity inside your head, not so much a headache than a sense of general fatigue snuck into your mind, clouding thoughts and judgment that, thankfully, only demanded five minutes of rest to dispell. Next was a symptom of coldness inside your arms: these gauntlets worked with minimal bloodletting and inserted a tiny needle into your flesh which interacted with your bloodstream and natural magical flow, the gems of these elemental weapons continuously absorbed your reserves and discharged your will in destructive combinations of infernal power.

''It's an increasing feeling of rejection.'' Belphegor had explained during your pause. ''Your soul and body need to acclimatize to this non-sentient interaction, can't give permission to something that has absolutely no intent. Eventually, your arms will grow completely numbs and you won't be able to do anything for a few hours.''

Thankfully the exercise went well. Your heightened training in measurement allowed you to properly gauge yourself and avoid a catastrophic loss of equipment. Alternating spells with your arms allowed sufficient rest and your reserves lasted the entire morning.

''Alright, I think that's it! Don't go Overcasting on me now!'' Belphegor yelled over the residual crackling of thunders as you unleashed yet another bolt of purplish light. ''Your lines are looking a might fainter to me lad!''

That was true, your steel-like projection of dull, boring gray had somehow become even dimmer... you felt confident you could still go on for a few hours.
>>
I want to try something different than ice, since it is what we had in the previous one.

How about the sticky fire one?

>Ruby socketed gauntlet that creates sticky fire.

If we do go with this, one thing I want to verify is if our magic secret hande is able to touch/manipulate the fire the gauntlet produces, without getting burnt/damaged.
>>
''You hungry?'' Belphegor asked you, hands on her hips, head bobbing sideways as she grimaced at the strong smell that had invaded her precious lab.

How many hours did you spend here? Four? Five? They went in a flash, you could scarcely feel... anything.

''Huh, I'm not sensing any fatigue.'' The weight on the back of your head had increased, aside from that your entire body felt a tad sluggish without many sensations to describes, all those uncomfortable cold sweats were gone.

''Yeah, that's the strain. A few more hours and you'll lose the sensation of your entire self, you won't even have a sense of humanity anymore. Magitek can get dangerous, pal, though you got one hell of a knack for it.'' Belphegor walked closer, waving for you to hold your arms at her level and she dutifully set to work with removing them.

''Really?'' You couldn't resist smiling. ''Means my nature work well with it?'' As she removed the fire gauntlet, you inspected your skin for traces of a needle penetration and found a tiny, nearly insignificant little circle on your upper arm, far away from any veins.

''That or you're good at calculating your flow, that's a pretty swell display from a dude who started existing a week ago.''

''Want me as an assistant?'' You asked, allowing yourself to glower in a bit of well-earned pride.

''Yer offering?'' Belphegor blinked back, taking both gauntlets to a table while you removed that awkward belt. ''Tell you what, I'm gonna make you a teensy gift since you've shown me you're not a moron.'' Her clopped feet made a lad slap on the stony ground and, with surprising rigidity, Belphegor waved at the table that, somehow, had four strange pieces of Magitek gauntlets resting on its surface

''Take one of those.'' Her voice had a firmness to it that betrayed her age, it was as if she was outright ordering you to do it. ''Never know when things could get dangerous and since I won't always be here, you oughta be able to practice with your magic and Magitek together, gotta be dutiful if ya want to try out me suit aye?'' She winked, extending a soft peach tongue to moisten dry lips then promptly grimaced and spat on the ground.

You have to admit there's a rather... bad taste in the air, having this place near windows would be wonderful.

''Belph, I...'' Yet she interrupted you, waving casually with a faint blossom of reds on her cheeks.

''Ey, is fine dude. If ya feel indebted then pay me back with labor or favors, though ain't no hard feelings or nothing. A gift a gift yeah? It'd be cool if you tried improving on yer own, giving you a way to defend yourself is better in me book. Fancier than cold steel yeah?'' She winked, knocking on one of her horn for reasons that escaped you.
>>

Damn you work, I would have voted for the Golems/drone network. Bah, no matter, I would have wanted to spec into this anyway at some point so the order of powering up doesn't matter. Got an idea for an endgame power build that'll make our elf an outright murder machine with all this in mind. It involves the drones, the gauntlets, and mastering the soul arms and putting weaponized soul in em' to make them not Vectors employed by pic related.

We can still get golems later right? Glad to see we got a perk too, can't wait to see what it is.

Since confrontations are unlikely to happen in the near future, votes on the gauntlet can continue. For now, the lightning gauntlet seems to be in the lead. Story post coming soon.

Handling the strain of Magitek isn't a perk/trait in of itself, it's something you need to acclimate yourself to.

Magitek Calibrator.
You've managed to apply your training in magical measuring for Magitek weapons. This means that you will never create surcharges failures in your armaments, going beyond the safety threshold will be an entirely conscious decision.

''Fancy thing, that.'' Daiyu said as she tapped on your new acquisition with the back of a spoon, sweet aroma coming from the bowl of ice cream in front of her roused feelings of gluttony despite your recently finished hearty dinner. ''Belph is a bit of a miser with her working belongings, are you actually getting an interest in that Magitek thing?''

''I'm surprised she's the only one among us working on this marvelous science.'' You responded while flexing your hand encased inside that gauntlet of bluish metal reminiscent of Elina's armament. Three gems socketed inside protected concave spheres had grown dull without your magical fuel.

''Not my thing, I don't like the idea of relying on anything but my own strength.'' Daiyu interrupted herself with another half a spoonful of honeyed deliciousness. Both of you were sitting on one of the many tables on the far balcony that offered this gorgeous landscape of forest breaking into a hilly plain and ocean. ''Not that'll stop me from funding our dear goat, I've found that men tend to gravitate toward all those flashy buzzing metal, does that gauntlet vibrate?''

''Nope. Perhaps men are naturally inclined toward Magitek, I could grow accustomed to her messy lab and it's strange smells. Feels like inhaling pure innovation.''

''That makes Belphegor a bit of a boyish one mh?'' Daiyu smirked, casting a sneaky glance behind her while her wings folded under the table. Of course, nobody was there but she still felt inclined to make sure.

You had left Belphegor side a few hours ago, her insistence on stopping experimentations and getting some food had you return into Sieglinde living space to find a lonely pair of mothers enjoying a meal in a quiet discussion that was quickly enlivened by your arrival, whereupon subjects drifted toward Vilma and Elenor fully burying their feud... and somehow ideas of romances popped into Teruko head, seeing her mischievous, sadistic glint concentrated on your humble self immediately made you realise you were a young man standing with three older maiden.

One excuse later and here you stood with Daiyu, you had to wonder if you went and gave that pregnant lizard even more ammunition. She could be conspiring right now with Belphegor to conjure some nefarious rumor. You were sitting face to face with this tall, gorgeous green-haired succubus during a calm afternoon, sitting near an open balcony with a slowly crouching sun in the horizon...

Picturesque. Just now did you realize you had invited her royal majesty Daiyu Jawahir on what could very well be a date... and despite understanding the gravity of this situation you weren't feeling stress, at least nothing gut twisting, though your mouth was running dry often.
>>
''There's nothing to worry about.'' Daiyu tongue quaintly darted out of her mouth to lick traces amount of vanilla sticking to her silver tableware. ''You didn't make any suspicious rise during the night, no symptoms of Geas anywhere.'' A soft click resounded afterward as she scooped the last remnants of her dessert.

''Is that so? Is the Geas gone just like that?''

''Having knowledge of your suspicious activities is often enough to break them, imposing delayed actions on top of that would be... difficult. It'd take something like strapping you to a chair for an hour or two of hypnotism to induce such a potent Geas, every one of us can account for your movements in the entirety of last week so whoever imposed that naughty little spell on you didn't wipe out parts of your mind.'' The Demon Lord interrupted herself with her last spoonful of ice cream. ''Staying prudent is wise, but you shouldn't stress yourself over harming anyone, dear.''

''Alright, that's... thanks.'' Knowing you were watched mitigated relief but at least your situation doesn't look too dangerous. ''Really, thank for your trust, Daiyu.''

''You're making me feel guilty about imposing that oath now.'' The Demon Lord responded, gently resting her elbows on the wooden table then interlocked her fingers together for her chin to rest on. ''Maybe I'll have to show you how sorry I am sooner than anticipated, mh?'' The way her tone changed into a smooth flow similar to the fresh wind of the balcony would send blood to any men head, even a stoic like you.

''L-let's make certain there's nothing to worry about, these runes are... dangerous.'' Your quickening heart and rising nervousness made you almost regret talking with this woman alone. ''Would it bother her majesty to impose a longer discussion?''

''Don't be so formal.'' Her headwings flapped soundlessly with her beaming grin. It wasn't a warning, only a request. ''Nor should you be afraid of asking me anything.''

>(You'll be able to ask two or three different things depending on subject length. No warning about how long a discussion anything could be, you'll have to gauge that yourself.)

>Ask her about the elves of Luminaris. (In broad term? Or do you want something specific?)

>Ask her about the elves of Luminaris.
Broadly, we can get specifics at a later time. Not to mention it should be a light subject to start with.
>Speak of your discoveries in the Throne.
I'm specifically interested in learning the identity of that spearwoman Daiyu recocnized, who or what this Lady White said spearwoman mentioned and id Daiyu has any inkling on what is a Godling.

Sieglinde had informed you about elves, how they came into a state of near-extinction due to some unexplainable catastrophe she had no idea how to explain despite being a direct witness of Luminaris - the elven capital - destruction. After that... you didn't know. How did elves affect the human kingdoms? What was their culture, how did they work with the Elemental Trees? What happened to the Loukanos dynasty?

All worthy subjects but with this chance of listening to the Demon Lord, you opted for something pragmatic.

''I'd like to know about elves, mostly about how they are doing these days? I don't know where they are, I understand how much I stand out but I don't know why.'' People held Daiyu entirely responsible for the massacre of your people so you opted to mind your word in order to avoid any unpleasant implication...

Not that it saved you from a grimace, Daiyu didn't look angry or displeased at you, though she was clearly uncomfortable. ''Hm, yes. You of all people deserve to know, though you said recent history hm?'' Your silent nod prompted her to make a few circles with her finger on your shared table. ''I wouldn't be able to answer anything constructive on that front, though I do know where you'll be able to find your countrymen.''

Clearing her throat, you stayed silent as Daiyu imbibed a glass of milk. ''You know about the treaty following Luminaris catastrophe?'' She asked and you nodded. That thing was the only effective accord between the Church of Unity and the Demon Lord to grant dwarves and elves a protected status.

''Right... Humans have created a sanctuary for dwarves and elves inside the kingdom of Gwalchmai, specifically near the Grand Lake of Purity. This place is half a fortress, half a city where what remains of both races are... surviving.'' Daiyu stopped her movement, locking her brilliant eyes on you, their shines with the facing sun almost made them sparkles like emeralds.
>>
''How many individuals are remaining?'' That was the scariest question, it was something that always whispered muffled provocations of despairs when you fully understood the gravity of this ''near extinction'' event. Daiyu didn't answer right away, her peachy lips closed like a stubborn temple, it was only her tongue moistening her lips that acted as key to knowledge.

''A few hundred for dwarves, they aren't immortal so, in a hundred years or two, they are expected to die out entirely. They are an incredibly stubborn lot but there's no escaping this brutal reality, especially since they haven't tried to change their cultures and adapt with their circumstances...'' She stopped to observe you, gauging your reaction, making it difficult to keep a polite stare.

''That's bleaker than I imagined.'' You confessed and she nodded, lifting her chin off its resting place and relaxing her arms.

''Elves are eternal and can be estimated to five thousand individuals. Those two traits make for an optimistic future, though the prospect of reviving past glories is... impossible.'' She offered you a smile, one of sad support. Her expression of quiet resolution made it obvious Daiyu wasn't running from harsh reality. ''I'm not certain what roles they've been holding in the culture of the Allied Kingdoms, a few elves hold influence here and there and you might find the odd traveler but... the vast majority remain in the Church sanctuary, protected, safe and that's all I know about what's happening in there.''

Having a treaty doesn't mean an exchange of information, especially if people hold the Demon Lord responsible for such a disastrous event. Two races of humanity, dwarves of elves, their cultures, cities, and achievements... wiped out a hundred years ago.

You'll have to accept that. In this case, amnesia is a blessing because your feelings aren't overwhelming, it's more awe and shock than anger or sadness. Is being a Loukanos important now?

>Speak of your discoveries in the Throne. (Shades of our past? Why it grew hostile? Why you witnessed it's strange maelstrom outside?)

All subjects touching bearded lads and pointy-eared eternals will be suitably depressing. I might wait a little longer than usual, perhaps 30 minutes or so, before starting to write with your options since I'd like to see potential new votes and/or agreement. Also, I didn't get enough sleep so my writing will be slower.

''Thanks, Daiyu.'' Her features blinked in surprise at your relaxed tone and she seemed stuck, unable to respond, having likely braced for a potential confrontation or to shoulder a negative remark. Learning the depressive future of your people was a shock, doubly so with your identity, but you won't go and throw all of that mess on Daiyu shoulders. It'd take definitive proof... and even then you'd likely doubt them, the Demon Lord and her daughters are no tyrants.

What happened back then has become an old wound. Time made them move on.

''There's another thing I'd like to discuss. About your Throne, our discovery... Could my memories really be dwelling in there?''

Animated by good mood, her royal majesty went back to her previous position of interlocking her fingers to use as resting spot for her chin, wings planted on beside her head unfurling for a few pleasant flaps.

''The Throne is a very odd beast, I won't go into it's deeper intricacies since we'll be here until bedtime.'' The balcony on your flank showed a steady progress of the sun travel in the sky. ''It is something similar to an enclosed dimension, think of it more as a branch extending out of Mother Earth trunk, our true world. The Corruption inside break people bodies and minds. It creates a simulacrum of life-based on memories stolen from foolish victims who think they can brave its depths. These are the shades you've confronted, people from your memories made into... mannequins of themselves, they'll naturally resonate with your soul because they belong there, with you.'' Daiyu went and softly touched your forehead with her finger. ''Gathering them all might not unlock your memories entirely but it could act as a basis for genuine recovery, although you could also repair what's been stolen or broken with Zipangu ritual or, of course, the later alternative...''

An option better left unsaid, blood magic was yet another taboo. In the end, you could consider the Throne another potential option, hell maybe investigating those hints could open another way to gather your past without rituals!

''You remember how things went in there?'' She answered your query with a nod. ''We've learned a few things, I'm actually glad I'm not the only one to have heard that old man and strange woman since I know I'm not having delusions.'' Daiyu didn't say anything, her face showed a gentle expression that made it so easy to keep on speaking. ''Would it be presumptuous of me to assume you know that woman of waifish, gothic beauty, your majesty?''

''Never, in this altar, you are free to ask anything and come to me with any problems, even if I piss you off I'd like to know why.'' In this altar was a revealing statement. Daiyu relaxed her stance, leaving her hands locked together while lifting her chin. ''That woman is called Mylen.'' Her tone was firm and you leaned forward to drink every word.

''I haven't spoken with her much, she's a silent, devoted person and an extremely talented warrior... Mylen singlehandedly saved the entire war effort of the counter-crusade and has since been living in Zipangu as the bodyguard of their prince Siegfried, while also being his lover.''

''How did she... A single person action brought victory in this conflict?'' You had to satisfy this bit of curiosity, Daiyu gentle nod had you in disbelief.

''She didn't kill the Embodiment of Strife.'' The Demon Lord casually demolished your prediction. ''What Mylen did is to show no hesitation with eliminating the weapon of mass destruction created by Orion host. The crusaders objective was to cleanse Zipangu of monstrous life with an explosion of holy energy that would exorcise the land of Corruption. I was part of the team sent to foil this plan: when we found out what it was, there was a moment of hesitation that... would have likely triggered an unbelievable catastrophe.'' Gentle squeaks from an approaching tray revealed Priscilla bringing sweets and refreshments.

''That bomb, for lack of a better word, was a young boy. A child. Whose soul had been manipulated, toyed it to become that awful thing... Mylen didn't balk at this sight, armed with the perfect killing weapon, she slit that child's throat and saved an entire country - my own life and daughters of that I have no doubt- from awful extermination.'' That was no pleasant memory, Daiyu face had hardened midway through her tale and only by sneaking pieces of vanilla cakes into her mouth did she begin to relax. ''Don't go repeating that to anybody else, okay?'' She winked mischievously.

Temptations to ask about this ''perfect killing weapon'' was genuinely hard to resist but you had to move on, this sun was fleeting. ''How could such a woman have been plucked from my memories and made into the Throne puppet?''

''You met her in the past, it's the only conclusion.'' Daiyu tone was no theorizing, raw affirmation left no room for doubts. ''Sieglinde worked with her a few times in the last 12 years, perhaps she'll recall something if you jog her memory''

Interesting, setting aside an occasion to ask the princess about this would be a worthwhile investigation. ''That person, Mylen, said something about Lady White hasn't she?''

''Yeah.'' Daiyu grimaced as if her latest bite had turned sour. ''That's a puzzle, Lady White is... could be a Supreme but she's not part of any systems or politics, her existence is a creepy belief, an infamous legend people of the Allied Kingdoms whispers at their children to make them behave.'' Soft clicks of tableware resonated as Daiyu gentle set her tools down, wings spreading wide on her flanks.
>>

''Lady White is believed to be a dweller of the Cursed Swamp. She escaped in there to flee persecutions then slowly but surely began to prosper. She's a witch, a hateful crone, whose believed to govern concepts of agreements; all serious contracts between countries and merchants are dosed with a healthy amount of Holy to avoid her influence, Mamonos tend to stick with oral agreements for similar reasons. Lady White, Witch of Contracts. is her full title, the fact she could be connected is rather... odd.'' Daiyu gently scratched her forehead. ''Her legend has persisted throughout eras, so there's definitely something tangible somewhere and she's believed to use several apostles - henchmen, really- that do her bidding.''

''Could that be... Is she responsible for that Geas?'' What in the world? Lady White is a witch living in a cursed land whose somehow connected to your past?

Or at least that woman, Mylen, believed so. It's entirely possible she accused that crone of something when you were nearby and you completely misunderstood her meanings... Blast! Not like you can confirm anything!

''That'd be reaching, I haven't found anything tangible about that witch during my reign, it's suspicious don't get me wrong. We'd be better treating this possibility as a theory instead of the truth.'' Daiyu leaned back on her chair, stretching her arms upward, wings flapping in contentment while you... pretended to look away while keeping her inside your peripheral vision, the Demon Lord womanly curves had these organic movements, bouncing really, that made you regret refusing one of the drinks brought by the maid.

Good thing this balcony was nice and cool.

''I've no clue about any Godling.'' The Demon Lord spoke before you could and relaxed on her chair. ''I've tasked someone to keep it hush-hush while researching the library but it doesn't look like it'll yield anything besides, maybe, some legend of old or a forgotten term. Perhaps some Supreme Monsters would know more, but that's not me.''

''You've been more than helpful, your maje-''

''Daiyu.'' The elder succubus interrupted you midspeech and movements as you began to bow your head. ''You're no hostage, you can just say thank you Daiyu.''
>>
''Thank you, Daiyu.''

That brought a wonderful full grin that made those leathery wings on her head flap, sending a wonderful wave of movement on her long blanket of green hair. ''You're a good listener and your curiosity is a delight to fill, Arawn.'' She gently pushed her empty plates away, the sun was crouching over the horizon, drenching this entire balcony in a strong bath of orange sunlight that seemed to bring a glower on this kimono-clad demoness.

''I'll make sure to try and take you on a few more dates, your majesty.'' Your teasing sarcasm was met by a good-natured scoff and she rose to her feet as you did, making sure to take her empty plate when Priscilla came back with her trolley.

Daiyu had quite the appetite, probably why she's so tall.

''Continue being such a darling boy and you might start giving old maiden dangerous ideas.'' Daiyu winked was perfectly placed to ooze well-practiced charm brought by centuries of life as a demon of seduction, the fact she was so friendly, so casual without false pretense of confidence or title really made you want to trust her from the bottom of your heart.

Maybe you already do...

>Ending here for tonight.
I wanted to proceed with a few nightly shenanigans but I'm too tired for that. Instead, we'll proceed to the next day tomorrow, so you guys can think of another way to spend your time. There's a whole lot of information to process now.

Aaahh. I was late today. Shame, I wanted to discuss with Daiyu that scary nightmare Arawn had the other day. The one with the sabbath.

I believe THAT could hold a connection to the geas more than the White Lady. And it does seem like something that will come back to bite us in the arse if we post-pone it now.

I am guessing the date is already concluded ,so it's lkikely too late to suggest that as something to bring up to Daiyu?

Day 11

When you awoke this morning inside your personal room, you immediately felt disoriented and confused. Lack of bodies at your sides and muffled noises of early womanly risers always instilled a sense of normalcy that made spending night in this chamber lonely, it remained the perfect place to seclude yourself. Think, write things down inside that large notebook of red leather, your discussion with Daiyu yesterday was easily summarized with a simple sentence.

''It's a circle of questions answered by more inquiries.''

An old man who watched over you as a child when you resided inside the kingdom of Eliaures, a strange warrior woman who's somehow connected to you despite having absolutely no reasons whatsoever to have crossed paths with you, Lady White... What's a Witch of Contracts?

One glance at Belphegor gift was at least enough to bolster your resolve. This gauntlet of blue metal was at least easy to understand, it represented a true first step in improving yourself and there wasn't some crazy twist or confusing turn to puzzle over. Magitek was straightforward, soul to fire, soul to lightning: that's it.

Exiting your room revealed the princess room to be full of womanly vigors,l all the girls were chattering with various amount of enthusiasm, breakfast was being prepared by Teruko who somehow convinced the head maid to sit at the table.

It'd be nice to sink inside her majesty bed enjoying a good book...

>Afternoon: Let's spend some time with Vilma. We had decided, we forgave her for the other time, so I don't want her to feel like we're no longer concened about her. After your arrival was met with greetings, most discussions died down as the girls finalized their morning schedules and cooking was dutifully finished by the scaled mother-to-be, creating a mouthwatering aroma of eggs, bacon, and ham to make this a wonderful start of a busy day... even if you were mostly free. Questions about your gauntlet were mostly answered by Belphegor and, inevitably, your friends peeled off one by one to start on their duties until you were left alone with Elina.

''Fancy thing, that's what you were playing with yesterday?'' Her finger gently poked around the socketed topaz.

''I've got a knack for it.'' You answered, feeling the urge to wrap that piece of armor on your limb. ''Say, I'd like to ask you something and maybe train a little bit, I've been neglecting that area.''

''You oughta start practicing something each morning if you'd like to get better physically.'' Elina answered with a self-satisfied smirk that made it obvious she was speaking common sense. A perfect little pinch to tug at your pride.

''I know, I know. Picking up habits is difficult but I do want to improve.'' You threw a coin that littered on the table at her, it silently landed on one of those gorgeous appendages of red feathers, slide down its soft length and loudly landed on the slick stone floor.

''I'm not a good teacher.'' Elina pinched her lips together, face turning into an apologetic, bitter grimace. ''I'm good with weapons and wind magic because of my wings.'' Her eyes sought one of those eagle-like limbs as if running away from your stare. ''But angels are... different then Mamonos or humans, it's difficult to adjust when it comes to giving good advices.''

''Perhaps we could do a little spar, then. Away from prying eyes.'' You tried your best to avoid coming off as arrogant or challenging, you've already seen how fearsome this angel is on a battlefield but how could you improve if you're afraid of a little pain?

''That'd... I'm not sure.'' Elina squirmed on her seat, glancing back at you while rolling a long strand of hair around her finger. ''I'm not too good at holding back...'' She mumbled, tugging on her golden strand and awkwardly letting it go.

''We'll figure something out. I've got a question for you Elina, about Zipangu.'' Your change of subject made her straighten her back, her halo even brightened with her surging emotions. ''Do you know a woman named Mylen?''

''Yeah, that's Siegfried bodyguard.'' Tension left her shoulders and she relaxed on the table, wings flapping here and there while refreshing her throat with a sugary sweet drink.

Odd taste for a wake-up beverage.

''Not a friend, nor a stranger she's... someone I know, an acquaintance I guess? Mylen's a hard woman. Silent, unsociable but fanatically loyal to her lover, Siegfried. She's always with him, shadowing his steps, accompanying him when he's out there doing spymaster stuff.'' One of her fingers tapped on the wooden table as she pinched her chin, struggling with her memory. ''She's kinda dry, direct in the few times we talked but she's not a bad person, a bit awkward. I've often seen her going into the chapel holding the sleeping body of my mentor I... I think she might have been close with Hadraniel.'' Her words filtered to nothingness for the brief seconds needed for her to nibble on her lower lip. ''Why the question? Did you stumble on her?''

''She might be connected to my past.'' You answered frankly, Elina immediately frowned in disbelief.

''What a crazy connection...'' She commented, rising a chuckle out of you. all of your negative feelings from your puzzling situation somehow vanished, it really felt great to be so frank with someone.

She can't be THAT bad at adjusting.
>>
Alright, we'll proceed that way.
>>
The outside of that altar and general area of the academy buzzed with familiar activities as apprentice summoners kept their dutiful works of dueling one another with merciless puppets of their will, by now you had seen enough of these exercises to understands students alternated this activity day by day.

''You sure about this?'' Elina whispered beside you, keeping an even pace with your stride as you ventured for the open garden that led into a familiar little forest.

''Positive.'' You answered while fiddling with a clamp of your gauntlet. Its dull gems showed no sign of activations so you didn't need to brace for a needle. It'll automatically turn itself on once you embrace Focus. ''You can't be that bad at adjusting and there's something else we can do besides a brawl.''

Your confidence instilled similar feelings for Elina who'd often glance behind her during your walk. ''You are confident for a guy without experience.''

''I figure you'll help me if or when I get wounded, you're a wonderfully merciful woman who won't be taking any joy watching me squirm in pain.'' That was nothing more than wishful thinking you tried very hard to believe, so might as well try and sound confident about it. you knew your place, really; this woman is a fearsome individual yet her good-hearted giggle and timid disposition gave a false impression of your own competence, it was as if you were the master.

You remember seeing a fairly even clearing deeper inside this artificial forest, collateral damages should... not be too much of an issue.

Hopefully.

>Train with your Magitek glove to try and hit Elina mid-flight. Getting a feel for the speed of your gauntlet, the angel shield raising capabilities and her own flying should really help your precision.

I did want to show Elina the gauntlet. It is good that our allies are aware of our powers and short-comings, should there be any.

That way, she knows what to expect, and will trust us to be able to do dangerous stuff later on. Also, she will be able to consider stopping us when we try to go to a challenge that is too big for us.

If nobody knows what we can do, they'll either not trust our combat ability at all, or overestimate it, which, in teamwork, are both equally bad.

Plus, we gain experience using the gauntlet! Belph did encourage Arawn to practice on his free time, after all!

A sudden flash of clear purple light launched out of your covered palm and disappeared after an instantaneous five meters climb into the sky, projecting a cruel crackling sounds that ended in powerful stormy echoes, everyone in the academy would likely suspect a coming storm.

''You want me to dodge that?'' Elina wasn't looking confident as she alternated a squeamish glare between you and the sky. Soft metallic clicks from her armor - summoned by this fascinating exercise of blue luminescence- revealed she was ready to go despite her missing halberd.

''You got shields, I'm sure you'll do just fine.'' You answered while observing the yellowish glow of Belphegor gift. ''Go on up.'' You patted the angel shoulder with your uncovered hand, then reached for a wing, your knuckle only felt those soft, fur-like feathers for a torturously short span of time that could honestly be attributed to delusion.

''I'm always on guard, pal.'' Elina grace you with this sentence before taking off, her flight was heralded by an unnatural gust of wind that almost felt like it's own gravitational force. Her metal-clad traveled meters like a well-dispatched arrow and she completely ignored laws of motions by staying in the air levitating and turning from back to front in order to face you.

Casual yet amazingly graceful. Elina was... so natural against this blue backdrop, neither walking, flying or swimming, it was an effortless floating in the air without suffering any pull for landing aground.

''Zap me, if you're so great!'' She taunted from a distance and you responded in kind.

Your first strike ended faster than thoughts, powerful cracklings of purple lightning slammed into a conjured golden, slick obstruction of gold, that didn't even mark anything with indentation.
>>
It was an hour later that you understood what it meant to be an apprentice of the Embodiment of Love.

Lightning stormed out of your palm in an almost unending flow, streaks of purple colored the blue sky while your friend and partner danced in the air. Her movements were sudden, dry, speedy and utterly unrealistic. She was no bird that would need to brace itself against self-made momentums, Elina made wholly impossibly turns made at such sharp angles, you'd have grown dizzy trying to replicate it on land.

Up, down, left, right even fooling you into an upward spiral that had her suddenly make a sharp left charge to dove your anticipated bolt aimed at her predicted descending path. Elina dodging was beyond understanding; she was fooling you, again and again by going in unanticipated directions.

Floating in the air granted her far to much motion.

That wasn't all, everytime you'd grow lucky she'd have already raised defensive shields to intercept your bolts. Other time she'd create squares of gold in various patterns to emulate cover and fly between them (this exercise was by far your greatest struggle and biggest source of shame.)

Then she'd create a beautiful multilayered flower and hide behind it, forcing you to launch bolts after bolts in fruitless aggression.

''I think the numbers of chances I had to reach you was in the thousands.'' You didn't need to stand beside her to understand her satisfied grin.

''Morning still young!'' You responded while shaking your covered fist. A quick inspection of your gauntlet revealed nothing wrong, you've sent about twenty bolts quickly but thankfully it didn't seem you'd need any maintenance.

You are feeling no signs of weakness or lowered brightness of your veins, your reserves should still be fine.

''I can wait all day!'' Elina responded with hands on her hips, hiding behind a flat and boring transparent screen of golden disposition. A few people had made their way into your training spot during this exercise to identify the source of this storm but thankfully nobody stuck around to be a nuisance.

Throwing bolts after bolts will just be useless...

>Try enchanting your fingers, using them as a core for your projectiles and zap this cheeky bird with one out of four lightning bolt!

>Since Elina keep fooling you with moving around, try creating a bolt that could follow her. Creating lightning will have you rely on luck, you need something much more reliable to nail her.

Could we try creating a bolt of lightning that we can control remotely?
I feel like that would be more useful than a heat seeker.
>>
>>2751845
No, a vital function of the gauntlet needs to use Arawn body as a core. Once it leaves the gauntlet, it can't be affected anymore unless you keep the lightning itself present with magic, attached to our protagonist body.

I thought about a lightning whip since it has to be attached to us but then I realized that Elina can just fly out range.
>>

It seems we are in agreement. Target seeking projectiles are nice.
>>
>>2751897
can't we just keep extending the whip and redirecting it?
still attached to us after all
>>
>>2751957
They are, aren't they? But as nice as they are, I still want to be able to emit a constant stream of electricity à la Palpatine.
I've got another idea but it might need modification to the gauntlet if it's possible at all.
>>2751994
True enough, but I think a whip would be far more draining if it is used for more strikes since we would have to maintain the whip and extend it to keep up with a fleeing target.

''Be a good girl, stay still and let me think!'' You shouted back at your flying friend, she answered with an exaggerated gesture of mock confusion and began walking back and forth on a floating floor of gold.

This gauntlet, that honestly ought to be simply called ''Lightning Glove'' at this rate, glowed its pretty luster of yellow that was a tad too bright to be considered proper gold similar to Elina gorgeous screens. Opening and closing your hand didn't strain any of the blue metal that had grown warmer because of your exercises, engulfing your entire forearm inside this glowing piece of armor.

Magic basic principle consisted of creating a ''core'' inside the world to impose one owns reality, a mage body automatically created this phenomenon by embracing Focus, distances spell needed this core before acting.

Magitek acted as an independent core, something that altered your magical nature into something else, in this case, that'd be lightning. You needed to launch all of your projectiles out of your arm, not necessarily your palm; pointing a finger and zapping would work, you tried plenty of times already. Once that purple light is out, there's no way to...

''No, no wait.'' Lightning is too fast to be altered. That's it, it's the only reason why you can't fork or bend these bolts. You can still change these projectiles after they've come out of your gauntlet because the bolts are still attached to the metal when you conjure them, meaning each thunderstrikes remain part of your core.

Something else, you have to slow it down, since the glove use your flow and alter it... and your nature of soul is incredibly easy to be manipulated...

An idea.

''Whoa!?'' Elina screamed when you launched a small bolt crashing into her shield, poor girl nearly slammed her knee into her protection be leaning back too much. ''Getting competitive, laddie?'' She responded at your wave by returning it, clearly enjoying her upcoming victory.

You aren't sure why this became competitive in the first place, there's still two hours before dinner!

''I got it! Get flying, little bird!'' Elina loudly harumphed but her stance revealed seriousness as she glared at you, concentrating on your movements and deploying her wings, magical energy gathering within those gorgeous appendages to create her momentous set of movements.

Your gauntlet manifested a new phenomenon as you applied your new idea. Crackles of lighting dances on its surface as it exited through your fingers, giving an impression of surcharges or upcoming explosions, thankfully you had nothing to fear... probably.

You had always imagined the source of your flow as an endless current, a clear river of energy but now you concentrated on another image, a viscous liquid that remained clear but also still, only moving by bubbles risings and burstings on its surface.
>>
When Elina suddenly flew upward, the energy that came out of your palm was slower. Tendrils of dark purples reached forward like uncurling fingers, bending like a spoon to reach the angel who immediately changed directions on the right.

That's when you closed your palm around this ''solid'' electricity and whisked your arm in her direction, the entirety of this five meters long whip of crackling energy followed, spurred by your movement to ignore proper laws of motions and momentums to follow the girl with deadly precision.

Unfortunately, the slower nature of your lightning allowed Elina to conjure an obstruction and your newly created whip slammed against it with all the natural power of thunder, the resulting clap almost shook the ground as element roared in protest... But your spell didn't disappear.

It was natural to witness these majestic tears of storms dissipate after they unleashed their might on soil or trees but that's where you had to reject this world logic. With your natural fuel and pure, dogged delusions of your power, you rejected this reality and allowed your spell to linger, lightning slowly but surely drilling into Elina golden obstruction.

She's a quick one, this woman, she immediately understood the danger and decided to fly away out of range, knowing you never displayed more than five meters.

That was your chance. This physical lightning you've grabbed onto was a bottomless pit of magic, a pure waste of bioenergy, but it also acted as a makeshift extended limb and, naturally, lightning was known to fork. You peeled off a tendril, circled under Elina's conjured protections... and crashed into her foot the instant she flew out of range.

This collision created another ominous clap and the angel was sent into her first freefall, she flipped and flipped, wings flapping in panic, shedding feathers like a wounded bird until a bed of solid gold stopped her fall with a painful looking crash... albeit done with grace as she managed to land on her knees near the tips of trees.

''Cheating! That's cheating! You won nothing! You went and juiced up my foot, that's not a strike! Nuh huh!'' Elina began to stop her wounded feet on her conjured platform...

While you'd love to gloat and rub it in, a feeling of vertigo almost robbed your balance, you had to lean against a nearby oak, cold sweat from magical drain making it difficult to fully appreciate this trick.

Fancy.

You have acquired the Alternate Fuel Magitek Technique

By changing the aspect of your weapons fuel source, you can impose different attributes on your Magitek weapons.

In this case, fueling you're gauntlet with ''sticky'' fuel can slowdown lightning, allowing for manipulation in exchange for slowing it down.

>Stopping here for today.

Now then here's a question; do you guys want to fully commit with Magitek? This will make it a proper subclass and will close the door to Summoner or Necromancer, but I will be able to better plan your evolution. Of course, you'll still be able to practice magic.
>>
So many good options!

But sure, let's go with Magitek! I am guessing this Alternate Fuel Magitek Technique can also modify the properties of the magitek's fire bracelet, the shield making one and the ice making one?

With this techinque and the compatiibility of our magic, I am thinking we should be able to tweak into Magitek related spells more creatively than other users of magitek!

> I am guessing this Alternate Fuel Magitek Technique can also modify the properties of the magitek's fire bracelet, the shield making one and the ice making one?

Yes, but not everything can be effective.

>With this techinque and the compatiibility of our magic, I am thinking we should be able to tweak into Magitek related spells more creatively than other users of magitek!

Soul nature is a good one. Lucky players
>>
>>2752085
nah

I had no idea necromancer and summoner were actual choices.
Now i have to see what we can pull off with those before committing.
>>
>>2752115
Both would be rather difficult to gain, unlike Magitek.

Each character can be tied to a subclass.

Belphegor = Magitek
Sieglinde + Elina + Hao + Daiyu = Warrior.
Hao = Archery/Hunting/Sneaking.
Teruko = Summoner.
Vilma = Necromancer/Summoner
>>
>>2752085
If we go magitek we can still improve our base magic abilities (i.e. still be able to grab "Weaponize Soul" and "Reinforce Ally" down the line) and still get access to a golem drone network right?

Also, just to be sure, in regards to rolling dice, what's your crit policy?

Yup.

>Also, just to be sure, in regards to rolling dice, what's your crit policy?

I'll take a crit if it shows up within 5 rolls, either negative or positive. Getting a 1 and 20 within this limit will have them cancel each other, you guys lucked out this time with that 2.
>>
>>2752474
Then the last question I'd have is how hard it'll be to grab additional perks. If each perk is independent (i.e. it's somewhat easy to grab the first few perks in a given tree, thought the *really* good shit means a huge investment) then I'd like to grab a few others before committing to a given tree.

If, however, we're reaching the point where trying to pull that kind of min/max BS is starting to accrue negative returns overall then I'll just say go full magitek/mage with a smattering of warrior as it synergies quite well with my desire to spend more time with Sieglinde. If we get good at punching, the Golems do to. Win Win! I really hope.
>>
>>2752506

I haven't committed to making the Big Boys perk yet because you guys haven't finalized your class choices, but acquiring the first few perks is easy depending on what you're practicing.

That Magitek perk you picked up, for example, is an extremely important one to broaden your tactical capabilities while synergizing with your magical nature. It remains a ''basic'' one because it's the first big step of the tree, spending time learning how to fight better will give endurance/hand-to-hand/weapon perks depending on what you want to practice and these can easily apply for everything else, so if you guys decided to go full Magitek tonight, you could still get trained by Sieglinde and company to handle close-quarter-combat.

You'll reach a plateau in that area after a few training sessions. What you gain as a warrior though could apply to other classes.

Committing early to a class isn't a bad thing since I'll be fair and tell you if you'll waste your time by training a particular skill.

Still, Magitek/Summoner/Necromancer aren't interchangeable so you'll have to decide between them, perks in one of those classes will NOT apply to any others. Full mage is also a possibility of course, but you guys already understand most of your shortcomings with Soul Nature.
>>
>>2752531
So our truly "big" choice is between trying to be a Lich King, The Second coming of Darm (the heroic elven summoner right?), or the business end of a murderous Belphegor/Not-Tesla?

I like all of those. Though I will say the last option is uniquely appealing to me for reasons. I do love it when Science gets applied to the problem of eliminating people I don't like in ways they never considered...
>>
>>2752550
>(the heroic elven summoner right?)
Yep. Keep in mind human/elves handle necromancy differently than what you've seen Vilma do, she's a lich, a race genetically engineered for this purpose by a Demon Lord of the past, so don't think you can go Arthas.

You guys have options, even if the plot is slowly but steadily catching up...
>>
>>2752085
I'll say yes to the Magitek route. Summoning and Necromancy don't really interest me.
>>
For me, my interest for magitek also comes from some mental role-filling in a potential party.

With Vilma, we already have Necromancy, and it is unlikely we will do better than her in that regard. So we can rely on her for our necromantic needs.

Summoning, we have Teruko, who is both an Expert, and a Supreme, to booth! Plus, Summoning, thanks to her is a rather widespread art among demons and monsters, I reckon, so we wiol find plenty other people to fill the summoning role if Teruko herself is unavailable.

Magitek, though, doesn't seem as widespread, as it is a relatively new technology. It being new means, it's still fairly possible to accomplish breakthoughs with the technology if we try hard enough, and we can excel at it. Belphegor is unlikely to be a permanent member of our party, and even if she were, she is the kind that does not NEED to use Magitek to fight, because she's already very powerful without it.

Long story short, by going Magitek, we fill an unique spot in our party's configuration, and our array of weaponry is one our enemies will have a hard time working around, since it is a non-conventional choice.
>>
We'll continue Day 10 afternoon with Elina, Teruko, and Vilma tomorrow. I would have liked to finish our thread then, but Wednesday will do just as good.

See you folks soon, sorry about that. Marathons are a little harder to pull off consistently, but I at least want to finish our spot of free activity in this thread.
>>
Are their other possible classes we'll be exposed to? Not asking for specifics, just a yes or no. I'd rather see what other options are available before throwing in my vote
>>
>>2754030
>Are their other possible classes we'll be exposed to?

Yes, but you can't pick them up. Your current choices are what you should limit yourself to.

Full soul mage

We went to all the trouble of deciding and winning this one so we might as well see what it can do when we power it all the way up
>>
>>2754037
Sounds good.

>>2753350
My support goes to this. Fill a group niche. But, we should not slack on developing our unique magic as well. We may have times we won't have access to our toys and need to fall back on our own abilities.
>>
>>2753350
Just to play Devil's Advocate but our own base magic nature seems to be unique and potentially powerful enough to pull that too.

I mean, what the fuck is a "soul" mage? What is that? What really is that? I mean, there have been mages with "exotic" domains that are quite frankly broken in comparison to what the average mage gets. Heat, Fluids, Gravity, and that's just off the top of the head of a given legit magical researcher in the era we're playing in. Imagine what mystical origins a mage in the age of pretenders could have had. "Soul" is one straight out of that. Thus, it's quite likely nobody even considered us as being a possibility.

>>2754289
Indeed we ought not. At the very least we wanna grab Ally Reinforcement. I mean, Imagine if we gave a huge physical power, stamina, and defense buff to Sieglinde, Elina, or Daiyu. Even if it was just for a few minutes before we risked overcast, do you think anything save the hard mode final boss could easily survive that?

Trump cards, gotta get at least one.

Looking back and rereading my post I realize I didn't really get my true point in. Blame me posting will I'm at work.

I believe we should use magitek, but not worry about making it. Leave that to the techies. We are not an artificer, more a gadget magus? Get people to brainstorm and realize ideas thru, but focus our training on support and our own abilities. Magitek is a wildcard we bring to every conflict and secondary niche we fill.

>>2754037
Another question. Our gauntlet requires blood to connect to us? Is that a thing for all magitek, or just what we have available thru Belph? Could we produce items that only need magic put into/thru it to activate?

>>2754608
Actually, you made me realize. Ally reinforcement, energy blast gauntlets, strength boosting, potential for magitek craziness? Gentlemen, we need to make this elf Hyodo Issei.
>>
>>2754649
The blood is a way to connect your flow/nature with the gauntlet. It's an extremely small needle prickling your skin, it's a way to create a needed bridge for your magic to fuel it.

Non-mages interactions with Magitek are incompatibles with mages, that's why I haven't' gone in depth there; it'll be useless to try.

Way past my bedtime. If there are more questions tonight I will answer them tomorrow.
>>
Great, Anons making some good points has gotten me torn between Magitek and Soul Mage routes.

>>2754649
I think we should be proficient enough to be able to repair/maintain a good part of any Magitek gear we acquire.Magitek isn't all that widesread after all, we may not always be able to reach people to do repairs.
>>
>>2754608

Right, the Soul Element we have is pretty unique, but I am sure the occupation of Caster as a whole is anything but unique.

Going full mage doesn't sound bad, but I think our element's good compatibility with magitek should be exploited, thus, especializing on it to get the good stuff from it sounds like the best idea to me.

And, Making the gadgets ourselves IS something I'd like to try. Techno-Mage + Engineer would mean we wouldn't be helpless for long, if our gear got stolen or damaged in combat, as we would be able to produce our own replacements/fix our gear.

Plus, by making new inventions, we can contribute to the arsenal of whichevr faction we choose to support.

Making new weapons for the Demons or for Zipangu might net us allies, cash, and respect.

We would no longer be "that elf that has an imteresting magic element and doesn't really do much otherwise", we'd be "That one elf that produces powerful artifacts for us, plus he has some interesting magic element."

''My, mineself was almost believing apprentices tales of an invisible storm. Thine thunderous clacks reverberated all the way inside our little earthen fortress of solitude, men truly love trying out their toys.''

Teruko tone was midway between teasing and remonstrance, the naturally sharp angles of her eyes gave her amused stare a glaring edge. Titania was also out, having plucked a tiny piece of wood from the ground to clang on your gauntlet that rested empty on the picnic table.

''We had a little match, ended in a draw.'' Elina responded, testing the pain in her foot with a few stomps.

''My objective was to hit you once during our training, I don't think you can say otherwise.'' You responded, earning a grumpy harumph from the angel who decided to ignore you.

Time had flown unreasonably quickly during your competitive workout. Teruko and Vilma had been attracted by all the noises only to arrive during your bout of vertigo. Coupled with Elina wounded foot, both of you would have suffered a painful barrage of criticisms if it weren't for Vilma showing unusual initiative by reminding her mentor to help the angel who was trying her best to avoid showing how she was nursing her wounded limb.

Thankfully angels are a sturdy bunch, despite your lightning, there wasn't anything serious to repair so Teruko insisted on hearing what you've been up to while sending Hao to fetch dinner at the altar, evidently keen on imposing yourself during your free time.

...could you truly consider this a day off?

What was to be a short conversation actually extended for an entire hour as Teruko insisted on hearing your train of thoughts while using Magitek, even Vilma seemed eager to listen how you managed that angelic zapping.

''Not quite mine area of expertise... Changing the very nature of thine flow seems almost silly.'' Teruko tapped on the table while munching on a piece of bread, by now Hao had come and gone, released from her benefactor services to go observe all the summoners duels. ''No doubting its effectiveness?'' She asked her second students whose grumpiness had finally mellowed out after filling her stomach.

''I got jolted all over after it snapped my foot, if that were to strike someone without soul reinforcement, they'd probably be out cold. Maybe worse.'' Elina commented while glaring at your weapon, by now Titania was carefully poking one of the cage-like barrier protecting a topaz.

''I'll be careful with my aim.'' You flashed a grin to your opponent who rolled her eyes in response. ''So, Vilma, has your training gone well?''

Your sudden prompt had the small girl twitch in surprise, her eyes of amethysts showed deeper colors as they opened in worry. ''E-eh? Oh...'' Her timidness resurfaced and she couldn't keep an even stare with you or anyone else. ''Some-somewhat. Teruko un-understand... It's different.'' Her strong hesitation implied that it might have been a difficult session.
>>
''Necromancy infect a host mind, alter perceptions and mindsets. Tis vital our darling reinforce herself by trampling these disgusting entities maddened by deaths.'' Teruko answered after a short silence inadvertently created by her protégé.

''It's...hard.'' Vilma whispered while glancing up at you and Elina. ''May-maybe... maybe I'll be-be able to... to not fail...'' She didn't finish her thought aloud but her pinched lips told everything you needed to know about her negativeness.

''Anger and frustration is a good motivator.'' You offered a polite smile. ''Don't let it affect your mood too much, the road to improvement is a steep climb and something you'll have to bang your head a bit against an obstacle.''

''Or miss a bird for the better part of a morning.'' That earned a chuckle, Elina went back to sitting beside you, carefully maneuvering her wings to avoid bumping you off your seat.

''Y-yeah... I-I have to be a better... summoner.'' Vilma quietly said and silenced herself with grabbing her glass with both hands to take tiny sips.

The sun had traveled a fair bit past its zenith and with the fairy fascination as background noises of metallic clunks, a peaceful silence settled the group in their individual thoughts...

There is a slight feeling of fatigue lingering from your previous magical exercise. You estimate that a third of your reserves are gone

>Practice your magic. (Will expand on that if it is chosen, or if you guys offer an action)

I wonder if Teruko would have advice on modifying existing spells. Or has that been already covered by her?

She hasn't given many advice on that front, mostly because spell modification tends to be very individualistic since it's based on how mages think about their magic, what they've discovered for themselves.

''I'm still unsatisfied with my understanding of magic.'' You speak, breaking the silence and rousing the women out of their reverie. ''Think you girls could give me a hand? Magitek is incredibly fun, but I'd like to be able to rely on my own skills in case things break down.''

''Hey, ask and I'll help out whenever.'' Elina stretched lazily, absentmindedly running one of her wing along your back, it was such a pleasant sensation that you forgot to continue speaking.

''Mh, aye. Mysir is such a speedy learner with his nature mineself is believing thine exercises ought to be called recall instead of teaching.'' Teruko put a hand on her round belly, leaving you momentarily stunned at such a casual praise. ''One thing thee ought to know about magic is that solitary practice can yield great fruits, for people can interference with spell creations by simple matter of nearby existence. Cognizances other than thine own can interfere with nascent magic, the old cliche of mages ateliers in solitary confines isn't a useless one.'' She briefly interrupted herself, rubbing her chin thoughtfully as she examined you up and down. ''Although thee might be an exception for Soul nature operations is unknown, mine forays into the academy repository of knowledge yielded nothing yet.''

''You're saying it'd be beneficial to train in isolation if I want to solidify the concept of a new spell? Or reinforcing another one?''

''Aye.'' Your professor nodded. ''Unless, of course, mysir want to improve on a concept that is inherently interactive or tied to someone else. Thine situations or general wishes about Soul magic could make these words of mine a useless rant, but tis was mine belief you ought to understand''

''Thank, Teruko.''

Each reinforcement can give you new traits for the spell. Body reinforcement is exempt because it's an instinctive magic, it can't get any better than it is. Perk training is locked for now, you'll need to improve a few spells before gaining something new.

''Are-are... are you su-sure?'' Vilma answered your desires with hesitations yet her quiet smile coupled with rosy blossoms of redness on her purple cheeks revealed such a honest happiness that it gave rise to no small amount of bashfulness within.

''You've got experience with joining my flow and you're already used to my battery. It's an inherently interactive one, too so I can't do it on my own.'' Having Elina and Teruko watch this exchange like hawks was likely the reason why you managed to swallow your embarrassment, seeing the lich smile always snuck strong feelings in your heart when you didn't brace for it. ''I think it'll be really important in the future, Teruko unleashed a freaking dragon!''

''By failing to properly measure mine skills whilst fooling mineself with beliefs of supremacy, mineself thinks naught but shame from this display, dears. Won't happen again.'' The pregnant lizard woman matched words with emotions by looking down and pouting; while you taught nothing bad about that prodigious display of summoning, you wisely decided to stay silent. She'd likely cause an argument by assuring her need for self-improvement.

''Okay... I-I... Okay.'' Vilma distracted herself with a gulp of water. ''You're... familiar.'' She offered a new smile, one born of awkwardness yet found enough courage to extend her hand.

You took it without words, easily reaching across the picnic table to interlock fingers with her considerably smaller, the fragile limb that felt soft and tepid. Vilma pinched her lips, giving your skin a comfortable squeeze and briefly directed her gaze at Elina who kept her wings around your back, the angel showed concentrated interest on your joined limbs.

Then, gorgeous purple lights erupted from bulging lines appearing into your short friend body and you imitated her with your dull steel coloration. Joining your flow was almost automatic. You trusted her, she trusted you and whatever instinctive barriers that automatically rose from such unnatural contacts were lifted in seconds, allowing her full access of your reserve, your ''paste.''

''It... really give an impression of an endless river.'' Taking an incredibly minute morsel of your reserve, Vilma created a pretty purple butterfly, it's grand wing of dull coloration carried it with elegant flaps near the little fairy sitting on Teruko shoulder whereupon it disappeared in a tiny showers of colored sparks.

''Thank, let's exercises now. Our link might break but it'll be easy to remake.''

''Mh...'' Vilma nodded, eagerly awaiting instructions while Elina and Teruko observed with increasing interest.

>Choose your trait for Bioenergy Battery.
Measurer
Apply your Measuring perk for this spell, allowing you to use it when sourcing someone spell. (Nobody can drain you more than you want.)

Link
Allows you to maintain your spell after creation without continuous physical contacts. (No need to hold hands after establishing your spell.)

Fork
Allows you to source two people.

I'll also need 1d20. This roll is for time, good results will give you another training session without suffering any training side effects.

I'm real tempted to pick Link but Measurer plugs a gaping weakness in the Battery spell.
>>
Rolled 13 (1d20)

Let's see!

I vote for Fork!
>>
>>2756340

Dc was 13, talk about lucking out. This was to simulate Arawn making an early breakthrough, thereby saving half of your afternoon.

The trait is another long ranging votes, I'll tally up players choices later.

Now then, you guys can practice something new, refer to these posts to help you out.
>>2756088
>>2756153

Or pick another trait for Battery.
>>
If we get one more choice, I vote we work on our soul arm! Learning to further customize it for new effects, or altering it's range/length seems like a good idea. Maybe seeing if we can stretch more than one of these arms at the same time.
>>
>>2756363
Support. Right now the Soul Arm is just another limb and while that is handy, it's nothing too amazing.
>>
>>2756370

I still maintain my vote for Arm, though the idea of giving one ore trait to the Battery spell also sounds tempting.

Fork+Link would allow us to suppply two people at the same time, from a range.

Fork+ Measurement Would allow us to reduce the chance to getting drained out by two people at the same time.

Aaah, it's hard to decide! Do we go for a very powerful battery, or a fairly powerful battery AND a fairly powerful arm?
>>
>>2756383
I'd say we don't really need Fork at the moment on the basis that our reserves can't support it. Consider how powerful spells the women in our social circle can throw out. Supporting just one them is draining enough, two would be too much imo.
>>
Vote locked and proceeding with Soul-Arm.
>>
>>2756363
Support. All options seem good, but we can go one step at a time. I say fork or making it more solid and practicing to get better at moving it.

''Whoa, again?'' Elina said after your short celebration, it had only taken an hour to understand a few more quirks with your Battery spell -thank in no small amount to Vilma faithful help- but after hugging your angelic friend and recuperating your usual stoicism, craving to uncover more enigmas from your nature quickly had put an end to your excitement.

Elina constant awkward face as she couldn't understand why you hugged her out of the blue felt like a victory. Her lips pinched together constantly and she made a small distance between you while observing you with eyes of a fearful animal that battled the desire of security and seeking more of your warmth.

Vilma observed you with a tiny smirk, often patting her palm while making a point of fleeing eye-contacts. Teruko, for her part, gave a warm applause freed of sarcasm and that made you pause on her earlier remark.

Recalling your capabilities instead of outright learning...

''I've got a new spell I haven't shown anybody yet.'' You revealed to your friends after a few deep breaths and, once your emotions reached their usual sedation, embraced Focus anew. Animate by a moderate amount of your inner fuel, a translucid shape crawled out of your spine to hover above your head. This limb, mimicked after your main arm, had the consistency of a swaying air distorted by flames and the girls all frowned at this manifestation, with Elina leaning back.

''That's creepy.'' She glared at your... limb (at least she didn't call it a tentacle) and made sure to retract her wings closer, her new position had unfortunately removed the appendage resting on your back.

It'd be best not to try your luck and attempt a sneaky touch.

This thing felt similar to using Stanislaw Limbs, a feeling of weight in the back of your head gave translated to perception, allowing you to manipulate this phantom limb like your own arms without mental rejection.

''Fascinating.'' Teruko commented, leaning forward, stopping when her hand protecting her belly touched the table. Vilma was staring in disbelief and joined her hands together in a mock, nervous prayer.

''I think you girls have what it take to help me out.'' You announced, winking at the angel whose halo brightened in response.

''I swear Arawn, if this thing is sticky or wet I'm kicking your shin.'' Elina grumbled, is she afraid of worms?

>Choose a trait for your spell.

Core
Familiarity with the spell allow you to use or remake it in the middle of an action. (Think of it as quickcasting)

Extension
By projecting a simulacrum of your biology into this arm, you are able to create a dummy limb that can be used to activate all of your contact spells. You will NOT suffer feedback pain if it's cut. (Activating Battery at a distance will be possible, and all modified spells that can affect someone else can be triggered at a distance with this traits.)

Range
Modify range from 2 meters to 5 (Maximum)

Nucleus(1/5)
Grants one additional limb.
>>
Nucleus will likely synergize well with 'Fork' battery charge.

So I will vote for that. Also, two appendages allow to hold a target's arm with each one, making immobilization easier.

We can now tickle Elina without having to keep our eral arms busy restraining hers. >:3

It was another afternoon that went by so quickly, you genuinely missed the sun progression and forgot to attempt another little ritual during the Hour of Lullaby. Elina, Teruko, and Vilma stuck around like troopers to help you figure out the few quirks of your spell with the pregnant professor being your sole willing test subject for touches.

Suggestions for using a summon as experiments subjects were soundly rejected by the teachers because you'd need ''proper'' feedback.

Teruko various attempts to interlock fingers with your magical limb made had you wonder if she treated your spell like an unknown lifeform. She mentally studied your ability to alter its firmness, tested feedback and sensations then muttered something about ''good tool'' that had everyone on the table flabbergasted at these implications.

When the sun travels led it under the horizon to create Throne Town usual gorgeous evening sky of darkened bluish orange and you finally let go of Focus, a familiar someone had walked to your table.

''You guys want to spend the night here?'' Sieglinde was here, one hand on her hip, the other running the length of her curly locks. Mellow smile and swaying tail revealing she gladly allowed the festive atmosphere to affect her mood.

''Has it been that long?'' Elina groaned, having long since jumped away from your bench. Her wings were curled around her shoulders while standing near her short friend.

''Maybe?'' Sieglinde answered, nodding at Teruko and Vilma. the pregnant lady muttered something about hunger. ''You guys enjoyed yourselves?''

''Somewhat, this guy got a creepy new spell.'' Elina complaint was empty of malice but her flapping wings told her nervousness.

''Creepy as in eerie or disgusting? I like the former.'' The princess commented, eyeing you with analytic enthusiasm.

''You'll find out someday.'' You interrupted the angel and got out of your seat. ''It's not that bad, Elina is a bit weak.''

''Freaking ghost, Vilma taught me to handle the real deal but that creepy, phallus thing...'' Come on, an arm isn't shaped like that! ''...It shouldn't be affecting me this much!''

''M-Maybe... You'd need more contacts with-with him?'' Vilma tone was a quiet squeak that went almost unheard.

''Mh, I feel like having you summons all kind of things for me to fight tomorrow.'' Elina countered, bridging the distance with her short friend to pat her head. ''How about that? Maybe I need to let out some steam after that zapping.''

''Um-um...'' Thusly Elina managed to strong arm her panicky friend into a dangerous activity, details of which embellish your return home as you and Sieglinde listened with something akin to morbid curiosity while Teruko frowned at this upcoming danger.

Now that's she allowed herself to be a little more natural, Elina seems to be a thrill seeker, it brings to mind your tribal outcast; perhaps she has energy to spend now that she doesn't want to pursue summoning anymore.

Inside the princess unreasonably large room was the entire gang you've come to treasure. Belphegor, Daiyu, Hao -even Priscilla- all inside helping the scaled maid learn Commons.

''No, no. Terrrrruko. R's need a hard pronunciation.'' Daiyu leaned near the maid who nodded back vigorously and began to try various words.

Meanwhile, Belphegor was doing her best to avoid looking thoroughly bored and took full opportunity of your new arrival to jump on her legs and motions welcomes. ''Got a whole buncha noise complaints!'' She announced, snapping her claws together as she motioned at your glove. ''Keep it up!''

''I'm not certain that'd make your dear craft popular, Belph.'' Daiyu answered her friend, Hao left her side to welcome your arrival with a pair of thumbs up and a dogged resistance to curtsy, show wore that gorgeous frilly outfit like a second skin but was clearly unable to act with due.... grace? Or perhaps a better world would be docility?

''Let those grumblers stew in the background.'' You responded at Daiyu. ''I'm getting used with this glove and you girls are vital to making a man improve himself. I'll make sure to continue... though having her majest-''

''Daiyu.''

''Yes, having your blessing would make it better.''

''You haven't felled any trees, so far you've done good work.'' Sieglinde responded as she sat next to you while in the background, Teruko did a curtsy and Hao promptly shook her head with various headstrong ''Nuh huh!'' to make her benefactor life difficult.

''How deep a trouble would I be if I did?'' You kinda wanted to practice against Elina on the ground, a forest made such a perfect training spot.

''Nothing I can't pull you out of.'' Answered the princess without looking at you, she was making a point to pretend to find the professor argument with her aide interesting.

Fatigue form training was starting to pile up, while you haven't done much physically, all of your spells, theories and practice had consumed a large chunk of your reserves, a happy fatigued buzz in your head made it difficult to keep track of conversations... but it was so satisfying to stand here with them.

>Here you can have a casual conversation with someone. For example, asking if so and so girls had a boyfriend or for Teruko to describe her relationship with her husband... potential options are very high.

>I will provide a set of them if there are no popular votes by 10 pm.

>Thread is over tonight.

In my pursue of accomplishing that none of the girls feel left out, let us engage in some idle conversation with Sieglinde.

I am curious to see Hao's progress in trying to improve her grasp on the common language.

Also, Arawn lacks still a lot of vital memories about his past. Maybe asking Sieg how it feels to have her mother here bringing company and assistance, will stirr some memories from within us.

Also, we can ask her to talk to us about examples of Soul Links that may have happened in the past, to get a bit of info on what we could get by going down that path ater on.

It makes sense that we would, in-character, want to know more about a method that would likely help us recover our memories.

Plus the possible powers we could acquire from that
>>
>>2756720
>Ask Teruko what kind of a man her husband is
>How they met.
Either of these is fine with me if both can't be covered in a timely fashion.
I don't think Arawn even knows Teruko's husband's name!

Thanks for running Insert!
I just want you to know that I have completely messed up my sleep schedule to participate now that I can afford to do so. Worth it, no regrets!
>>
>>2756771
Thank for your time.

Schedule is likely to change after summer because I still have studies to do, I'm taking it easy now for general health reasons (and also I got a hard time with heat).

>>2756756

So you'd like to ask Sieglinde about her relationship with her mom and how it feels to have her around?

Or

Soul Links?

There's only time for a single subject, even if it's a short one, girls are going to get distracted by some activity during the night.
>>
>>2756786

Then, let's ask her about her mom. As eager as I am for Soul Link stuffs, let it be known that Arawn is not a selfish man, or at least, not too much.

His interest in his own potential developments is not bigger than his care for his friends!
>>
>>2756547
>Battery
Fork. Teruko will lecture the girls about how to not go crazy with the drain like she did.

>Soul arm
It really is a toss up between extension and nucleus. I want em' both but I gotta pick one. How likely is lethal combat between now and our next chance to train it?

>>2756786
I'll have to sleep on this one. Casual talk with a girl is something we don't get everyday. Gotta spend this chance wisely.
>>
>>2757111
>How likely is lethal combat between now and our next chance to train it?

Highly unlikely.

I'd be good for me to get an idea on what subject you guys want tonight but I can adapt, as long as I get votes before 1 or 2 pm tomorrow.
>>
>>2757168
Then I pick extension. Nucleus is the major combat boost as that other anon pointed out. Two "hands" equals the ability to restrain an opponent (and thus is the VERY next thing we should go for when given a chance). Extension, however, is the ultimate boost to utility, the necessary step into making them my hoped for not-vectors endgame, and a good opportunity to practice distance battery links and, by extension, build trust as I'm pretty sure that'll grant us feeling in the mystical limb. The girls are already well aware of our... well let's just call it a glowing and emphatic approval of their "exotic" anatomy.

The fact that we have a barely visible and fully functional third limb that we don't take advantage of unprovoked would hopefully net us an increase in general trust which I'm willing to bet will be a big factor in the effectiveness of the "reinforce ally" spell we'll be getting as soon as I can help it all thing being equal.

A strangely impactful impression almost stunned you after listlessly listening to Sieglinde discussion with Elina and Vilma, the angel brought the subject of potentially using the underground arena for a semi-serious sparring session but the discussion organically shifted toward recent events.

''We've decided to keep observing things for a while, identify how many laws that woman broke.'' Sieglinde said after looking at her taller mother, both of them somehow sat with the same stance of legs crossed over the other and leaning forward at an exact angle, despite their wildly different physiques something so casual really reinforced their family link. ''We'll likely end up slapping her with a hefty fee since disowning a protégé without adequate parting funds is actually illegal and that kidnapping attempt needs an answer, I'm thinking mom could pressure her on that front to keep it hush-hush and see if we can gain something against the Javed, unless you'd like revenge Vilma?''

Having her lord ask her desire left the little lich bewildered long enough for Elina elbow poke to reactivate cognizance. ''I...I can't presume... I'm...'' She lightly shook her head, hiding her hands under the table. ''It's fine.'' You couldn't tell if that was her genuine feeling or a way to accommodate her liege, so awkward was her expression.

Sieglinde waited a few moments and turned for Daiyu, both women soundlessly nodding with perfect synchrony. Belphegor smirked and choked down a laugh, amused by the sight.

How was your relationship with your own mother? You can't pretend to know of course, yet witnessing something so warm, seeing how daughter and mother flawlessly supported one another with unbreakable trust in this cutthroat politic made you wish you had spent times researching the Loukanos dynasty... but then you'd only get outsiders opinions. Who was Luminaris queen? How was your relationship? Is she truly gone... or could she have escaped inside the church enclosure?

''Hey, Sieglinde.'' What you were about to ask wasn't wise but... you wanted to know, perhaps it'd help lessen this strange feeling of wistfulness. ''How does it feel to have your mother assist in your duties? How do you like her company?'' It wasn't exactly a good question, even you weren't blunt enough to ask ''How much do you love your mother?''

''Huh?'' Sieglinde was suitably confused and she leaned back in her chair to observe her parent, whose face showed similar confusion that quickly changed into a good-natured smile. It only reinforced Sieglinde's feeling of dread.

''Yeah, how much do you love your mom? Or me?'' Belphegor added, the Demon Lord beside her contented herself with a silent, expectant drinking of black tea that put full pressure on her darling daughter.

''I-I mean, um... you're my aunt so, family love yeah?'' Sieglinde big, dark hand worked on the collar of her shirt and ended up making a small slice. ''I'm not sure... actually I don't have to explain anything!'' She huffed, throwing you a glare of mock offense, arms wrapped under her bust.

''It's fine.'' You smiled and nodded, swallowing a rising sadness. ''I only wanted to know how it felt to work with your mother, have her by your side.''

Sieglinde immediately winced with the painful grimace of suffering a sucker punch. Your statement earned various looks of compassion from the girl, even Daiyu seemed gentle, lips upturned into a resolute smile of acceptance.

Had they not known your situation, you might have caused offense. It's good being close to so many people.

''Saying it like that...'' The redhead murmuring, changing her position again to run a hand through her marvelous locks. Teruko and Hao playful banter had also ended. ''...Working together you could say, is something I've wanted for a long time. Our family is whole again, we've managed to repair our situation after Zipangu crusade.'' She interrupted herself, giving you a playful pouty grimace followed by a chuckle, she made a point of ignoring her audience. ''I'm kinda dodging your question, It's... great to have mom around. She's not particularly good at handling her role of Demon Lord.''

''You'd think I would have learned after 200 years hm?'' The tall green succubus butted in with a teasing smirk.

''People kept taking advantage of the fact you were the only one with absolute authority.'' Sieglinde countered, mirroring her mother expression. ''At least now you can discuss issues with your family and have Belphegor help out, too. I don't like wasting time with politics but... our position is one of influence and I believe we can do good things, honestly, It'd be better if you stuck around longer so we could handle Throne Town nobles.''

''I'm here now, yes?'' Daiyu answered while chuckling, she was forced to put her teacup down. ''Whatever happens next month or next year will be something to deal with together when you feel like asking my help. One letter...'' Her majesty clapped her hands. ''...and here I am, same for your sisters. I think Martha might be in need of assistance soon.''

''She's a bit too eager to have you take care of her problems, you know that.'' Sieglinde grumbled an answer.

''Martha looooove witnessing her big sister being cool while taking care of things.'' Daiyu giggled, hips wings knocking on the wood softly, smile broadening into a full grin when her eldest made an unsatisfied grunt.

It had been roundabout, but you did get a clear response. From these exchanges, the warmth of a precious, vital and unbreakable familial bond was casually displayed. Sieglinde was an adult, Daiyu couldn't dote on her like a kid but that didn't change the fact her majesty adored being motherly with her grown daughter and, as you've learned two days ago, held no qualm with dropping all of her business to assist Sieglinde after getting a letter of request.

Explaining ''How does it feel having your mom around?'' was easy. Sieglinde loved her mother with all of her heart, she had her duties and dreams, but always treasured her parent company for the simple fact that she loved Daiyu.

Nothing more, nothing less. A simple conclusion that dawned on everyone else. It filled with strange feeling, happiness for your benefactor, nostalgia of your unknown life and an ugly trace of envy for such a robust relationship between kins. It was almost like a poison seeping into your heart, you had to resolve yourself with making certain you wouldn't be influenced by such awful emotions.

''I had the chance of meeting Deruella the day after my awakening.'' You speak when the light bickering between mother and daughter settle down. ''She left a strong impression, would I be wrong to assume Martha to be someone of similar disposition?''

''Totally.'' Belphegor responded. ''She's a loveable lazy bum who'll one day end up strongarmed into being my apprentice.''

''Please, she can't handle the responsibilities you'll put on her.'' Daiyu tone had a dangerously low edge that projected a dangerous aura into the room as both Supremes glared at one another dangerously. ''She's probably still holding a grudge over that one-time you dumped her into an alchemical vat and her skin became blue.''

''Slander!'' Belphegor jumped out of her seat and slammed her small hand o nits surface with surprising force, only to end in an awkward position because of her shortness. ''Told you a thousand time lass snuck into my lab and thought it'd be cool to gather glowing slime out of a protected cylinder, she was already blue before that anyway!''

Daiyu leaned back giggling with the full satisfaction of someone enjoying their nefarious deed, Belphegor loudly harumphed and jumped on her seat, pouting.

''Martha is a bit of a special case.'' Sieglinde answered with a little too much grace, probably feeling embarrassed by this exchange. ''She doesn't like feeling beholden and tend to dodge her duties, she often complains that her birth shouldn't impose burdens on her but... she'll still do what needs to be done when it's important.''

''It took me a little while to understand Martha treasure her time very much.'' Daiyu added, pinching her chin with a look of nostalgia dwelling inside her green eyes. ''She's very generous.'' Her majesty added, earning a set of disbelieving frowns from the only two people who knew this woman.

''I won't lie, it's a bit awkward talking with her.'' Sieglinde continued, momentarily drowning her lukewarm feeling with a gulp of juice. (Why is she so against alcohol anyhow?) ''But Martha is my little sister and I'll be damned by continuing moaning about her negatives. Never in my life have I seen someone so skilled at making things.''

''Seriously.'' Belphegor agreed, nodding vigorously. ''Kid is a wonder lass, I taught her all I knew about Magitek and she absorbed it like water dumped in a desert, yet she hasn't done much about it. Martha love making stuff, she like magical objects and somehow her Corruption just...'' Her claws make a snapping sounds. ''...work, she makes magical objects like they are spells.''

''Interesting...'' You decide to voice your opinion as the three Supremes seem lost in nostalgia. ''...I'd like to meet her. What about Deruella? How would you describe her?''

A noticeable wince comes to Elina and Vilma, you also note that you question was met by a strangely sharp glare from Daiyu and Sieglinde. Belphegor also noticed this atmosphere and moved to dispell it.

''Bit of a bad reputation, kinda was the black sheep for the longest time.'' Her tone had an edge of seriousness to it that left you worried, your encounter with this woman had been pleasant.

''Deruella was motivated by politics and philosophical ideals for the longest time, Épanouissement was a way of thinking to help Mamonos growing sentiences and help them cope but it ended as a...''

''It's the past.'' Daiyu firmly interrupted her friend whose expression shifted between mixtures of awkwardness. ''Deruella has a bad reputation everywhere because of her actions to undermine humans. She single-handedly led the fall of Lescatie, corrupted a handful of humanity greatest individuals, led the first invasion of Zipangu... it'd take a long time to describe her actions.'' Daiyu cleared her throat, gaze firmly locked on the table. Even Priscilla cooking seemed to have momentarily lessened.

''Deruella is a much better Demon Lord then I'd ever hope to be.'' Stated her mother, sending a chill down your spine.

''She's not a bad person and fucks anyone believing that.'' Sieglinde, galvanized by a rare bout of passion, didn't let Daiyu's words linger.

''Deruella reformed her ways after the crusade. We're still keeping a close eye on her but, she became the tutor of Zipangu crown princess and she's the one who first identified Teruko's handling of Corruption for the massive breakthrough it truly was. Sis has been keeping a low profile in recent years but she's not a bad person at all.'' Sieglinde red gaze looked to you, Elina, Vilma, Teruko...

''Why yes I've naught but goods to tell about mine short encounter with that charismatic woman.'' The professor spoke with confidence. ''Those tenebrous eyes are fascinating, they glitter with sharp intelligence. Her Highness is a philosophical sort, mineself would gladly call her a friend.''

''Yeah, I'd like to dispell those rumors and talk with her when I get a chance.'' Elina joined Teruko's good mood and Vilma soundlessly nodded.

''She's... not a bad person anymore.'' Sieglinde tone had dropped in strength, one of her big hand carved dangerous lines on the wooden table.

Of course, there'd be emotional baggage in this 200 years old family. Deruella and Martha were Daiyu's daughters, such a position inevitably brought conflicts and heavy history, should you judge these women about a past you haven't studied? Without having met them properly?

The atmosphere had grown tragically heavy, only the sound of Priscilla handling supper brought a sense of vitality in the room as everyone struggled to dispell this situation.

When the veteran maid passed by you, a quiet show of sleight-of-hands had a booklet drop on your lap. Priscilla gave you a silent wink when you perused its cover, this was... a book of riddles.

''Hey Belph!'' You spoke to dispell this uninviting pressure. ''Riddle me this. A guy stands on a ladder...''

Things will be back to normal very soon.

You provided a spark, a change of pace, another mood that allowed everyone vital breathing room and before long subjects of riddle became tonight pastime with various accusations of cheating when the poor goat track record was revealed to be awfully poor, getting busted with the book was a fun little distraction. A few hours disappeared quickly like this, tonight supper being consumed wildly without any attempt at keeping proper decorum in front of the liege lord of Monsters and her eldest daughter...

Once things calmed down it became time to prepare another important day and all the women beside Sieglinde went to occupy the bathroom, leaving you two alone once Priscilla finished her duties.

You'll have to thank her for that flawless save.

''Hm, tonight was fun.'' Sieglinde announced quietly, something in her movements and general disposition told of a sense of fatigue, lethargy, that was likely brought from a hearty supper and an active day.

''Yep, I'd like to meet your sisters face to face. I don't really care about bad reputation.'' That was no lip-service and you'd like to believe Sieglinde understood that, as she gave you an honest pretty smile.

''You'll get plenty of chances. I've been waiting for us to be alone.'' The fiery-headed princess leaned forward as if trying to start a conspiracy, her long thick tail slapped the ground audibly. Sieglinde slid two fingers into a pocket of her jacket and extracted a piece of paper.

Correction, it was a letter. One of banal white paper, sealed by a nondescript piece of wax.

''It was delivered to me this afternoon.'' She revealed, turning it on the back to see a sentence scribbled with silvery ink.

To the man of the house.

''I don't hold anything so prestigious.'' You had to downplay this sarcasm, what kind of bad joke is this?

''You are the only male here.'' Sieglinde giggled, probably finding your frown amusing. ''I've been holding onto it, now it's yours.''

Setting it down gently, a twinkle in her eyes revealed avid curiosity.

''You wanna know what's it in?'' You asked.

''Yep.'' Sieglinde boldly answered. ''It's your letter but I do wanna know. So, wanna read it together?''

>Open it alone.
>Read it together.
>Don't bother.
>Free

We have nothing to hide (to our knowledge at least). I do find the letter suspicious but I don't think there is any cause to read it in solitude aside from paranoia.
>>

If it's an important news, there is no need to keep it all for ourselves.
>>
>>2759010

Yeah, but I'm still paranoid, it's you after all and that geis may still be active. Make sure we ourselves are not within reach of any kind of anything that could be used as a lethal weapon.

Opening it revealed a letter of grayish paper that felt strangely coarse on your skin, folded in two to rest neatly inside its package.

''A golden thread running along its side.'' Sieglinde pointed out, carefully aiming one of her big fingers in its direction without touching.

Opening the folded letter revealed... a short, strange message.

I pray times have been well for mysir Loukanos? I was overjoyed upon realizing you've kept yourself in good health! I cannot imagine the seriousness of your situation but I sincerely extend my wishes for a prompt recovery and that you are enjoying your life.

It is my wish to extend my sincerest congratulations on your invitation to my upcoming tea party, we have so much to catch up on. I will wait for your esteemed presence my good sir!

Sincerely yours

Lisbeth Witeld.

''What is this, a bad joke? A damn farce?'' Sieglinde growled, snarling, almost reaching for the letter to tear it open.

''I... I have no clue. Lisbeth Witeld? I've never heard of anyone like that.'' You cast a worried glance at your royal benefactor, her anger felt far too emotional to be frustration.

''Lisbeth.'' Sieglinde spoke this single word with a heavy tone, taking a large gulp of air. ''Is the name of my fourth sisters, the one... mother failed to deliver, it's was to be her name if mom didn't miscarry. It's also the name Teruko will give to her daughter...''

>A Tale of Monsters -15- end.

I have quite a few things to count with this thread, we've made some great progress with customizing Arawn. I'll make a new post counting up everything and announce it on twitter too, so everyone can see the final say.

One thing I do have to ask is if you guys want to commit to Magitek for sure?

You'll still be able to train Soul Magic, I want to make sure I get as many agreements with my players before officializing the magitek subclass.

I'll aim for next Monday with the new thread. Got an important thing to plan. Nyehehehe.
>>
I am in favor of magitek commitment!

So someone is impersonating the unborn child of Daiyu? Sounds very serious. I believe Daiyu should be informed of this. Possibly Teruko, as well, since it might be a jab at her, not just at the Jawahir family.

Also, perhaps we should ask Sieglinde who was it that handed the envelope to her, or at least, how this person looked like.

>Also, perhaps we should ask Sieglinde who was it that handed the envelope to her, or at least, how this person looked like.

It was her usual courier, nothing fishy here. I forgot to write it but the letter was posted entirely legally, it was delivered to her because of it's unusual writing.
>>
>>2759060
Well... holy shit. This could mean any number of things. All of them very disconcerting given current knowledge. Also, how the hell would we even go about the RSVP? It ain't exactly got a return address or the location, date, and time this "tea party" is to be held.

In any event, we're almost assuredly on the wrong end of an intel op. The bigger question that raises is how the hell have they slipped under Daiyu's spymaster's nose? Intel ops are always scanning for other intel ops and interfere with/shut em' down whenever possible because of the nature of the game demands that and I doubt she'd hire an incompetent who'd employ idiots who don't know how to run and counter intel ops!

I'm with you there Anon, this all seems too much to be a mere coincidence.
It might be intended as a trap to the Jawahirs as a whole, while we were used to make sure the letter reached them? Egh, no point in speculating that far just yet I suppose.

Well, because we're all experienced murderhobos and have played many games many ways... Sure, we're a Magitek kind of magus. It's something new, something the general population isn't really expecting. As if our mystical domain wasn't gonna throw em' into enough of a loop.

We could still grab a cantrip or two from Vilma and Teruko in spite of that if we choose it right? Being able to spoof us being something we're not/come off as weak while earnestly selling that we're trying our best may well come in handy. Gotta cover all my bases. Pic is just for fun.

Thread has been archived, now's the time to finalize our traits. I'll be updating Arawn sheet accordingly at a later date, it'll be done by next thread since it's a very important piece of reference.

Battery
Fork is the popular vote, you have the perfect excuse to hold hands with two girls now!

Soul-Arm
Extension won out with 2 votes out of three if I didn't mistake my count. Now you'll be able to feel those wondrous monstrous bits with a phantom limb!

And finally, I think it's safe to officialize the Magitek subclass. This means that I'll begin to have Arawn show genuine interest and passion in this science, girls around him can still help out with developing it but it'll obviously unlock more options to interact with Belphegor.

This does not prevent you from gaining a few warriors skills and perks. While I'm tempted to keep low-end summoning options open, allowing it would honestly make Arawn far too strong... or you players would feel like you've wasted your time so, for now, it'd be better to concentrate on what we've got.

You might still be able to gain unique skills related to summoning/necromancy later, outside the training tree.
>>

Wait, what we have plus low level summoning had a game breaking exploit? And while summoning is probably awesome, it doesn't beat golem drone networks, power armor, and giant robots. Chicks dig giant robots.

Mechs don't quiiiite exist yet, what's available is still pretty good. Maybe you'll get to take someone on a nice date with a hulking machine one day.

Insert, you do know we'd try to build a bootleg Transformer given half a chance, yes? A hulking machine is a given.

If you can gather enough talents and funds...

Problem with superweapon is how much of a money sink they can be, that machine sitting in Belph lab is entirely built for war because it was to be Humanity answer to Supremes but the idea didn't manage to spread. Combat alchemy, instead of Magitek, is what's popular in the human kingdoms, Zipangu specialized itself in golem constructions and manipulation. Magitek proper, raw, as you're going to invest into, isn't too developed.

Not to say it doesn't have people invested in it, after all, Stanislaw Limbs and the gloves are all human inventions.

Belph may be the most likely candidate for this world's Tesla, but we have yet to find the second comings of Edison and Babbage (and by the sounds of things Martha is probably blue not-Edison with a pre-packaged reason for at least one side of their historical mutual enmity to boot. Side note: the dynamic you're building if I'm right is amazing. Mutual deep hate is easy, the complexities here though...).

Given our nature and interests, we may well become not-Babbage. If that all works out then yeah, we'll show those alchemists, we'll show em' but good.

We have not even begun to blow minds with our future wonders. Though we will need the misguided alchemist lovers to stumble upon things like the concept of ∆v. Well, we'll need em' in order to take full advantage of our wonders in the end in the event we make *that* breakthrough. Boy do I pity the poor ingenious mofos who discover the wondrous horrors of hypergolic reactions, ClF4, FOOF, Dimethylmercury... Pretty easy to forget how absolutely terrifying science can get.

Martha isn't a thief like Edison.

This'll be more MAGIC science than real science, it's easy in theory to cause a sudden industrial revolution; doubly so now that you could have a fair shot at convincing the leader of a country to invest in you. So I'd like to focus on the interaction of making magic into an actual repeatable process, don't forget the Magi part of Magitek. We won't get too in-depth with the mechanics behind making inventions since the focus remains on characters and well, I know how players think. If you're allowed to get enough infrastructure you'd likely end up making gunpowder and antibiotics.

Making more general inventions to replicate science could work if you get a flash of brilliance, tech level of place varies wildly. The altar you've been in is top of the line, that's why everything seems to be steampunkish despite people carrying swords around.

Of course she isn't. Though I will say that though Edison was a thief, he was so damned good at it that ya can't help but admire him for it in the end.

Ya gotta give the devil his due after all. He was *really* good at stealing ideas. So good that he even managed to improve upon a few of em' in the process.

Also. Gunpowder and antibiotics? Yeah, the main reason the focus settled on "combat alchemy" instead of giant robots is probably because one of those things actually went through. My money is on guns, in which case my next question is are "puritans" a thing. Because if so pic related is out there and god help us all if we piss him off!

I wasn't right to say gunpowder doesn't exist since there are several explosives well in use employed by the Allied Kingdoms and the Commonwealth, and cannons do exist in the form of crude bombards.
It just hasn't been a subject of heavy focus since Humanity found better ways to fight against Monsters and barbarians. And as you've seen so far, demons don't put too much stock on it either with their focus on making their combatants self-reliant.

>My money is on guns, in which case my next question is are "puritans" a thing.

It's fairly popular with crafty adventurers and one particular order of knights dedicated to it. Combat alchemy is mostly about gadgets, explosives, prototypes, it can border heavily on Magitek at times and you can expect both fields to constantly butt heads. For example, golems are a massive point of contention. Guns though... that's something I can say anything about.

So, a power armor is possible. I've thought to ask what kinda power armor would be more likely to succeed - a sleek, high-tech Iron Man suit or a walking tank like a Warhammer 40k Space Marine suit?

Also beach episode when
>>
>>2763225
Belphegor suit is already plenty sleek despite its mismatched steampunkish attributes. Aesthetic and capabilities wise, if you want to make your own thing, you'll be able to go light, medium or heavy though nowhere near the massiveness of a Space Marines suit.

Though that'd be a waste of resources with one suit already sitting here collecting dust without anybody using it...

>Also beach episode when

I haven't planned any, oh no!

A fair point... perhaps Arawn can improve upon that suit's design at a later date. Until then we work to be allowed to pilot it!

If not, a pool would do just fine!
>>
>>2763519
No beach at all because there's only high cliff surrounding the visible ocean. Pools though... Absolutely, with aquatic Mamonos need special tanks to truly relax so there are a few pools in the capital. The school of elementalism actually has one for teaching purpose! Are you getting a strange idea, anon?
>>
>>2763577
>Are you getting a strange idea, anon?
A strange idea? I don't know what you're talking about Insert, I'm certainly not thinking about spending time with all these lovely ladies at a pool in the appropriate outfits!
...Arawn's a bit lanky after all, it'd be rude if he's the only one with eye-candy in sight! We should bulk up a bit first.
>>
>>2763713
Elina wasn't entirely truthful with her comment because she's a tad impulsive and really fished for some kind of fault back then. Arawn is naturally broad, though bulking up would make him look better for sure. Still, swimsuits huh?

Reminder that Daiyu is 6'5
>>
>>2763713
Pretty sure we'd do that for pragmatic reasons. Soul arms are probably only about as strong as our real ones until we truly master em' and make em' into not-Vectors. Plus more HP is always a good thing and that's how you boost HP.

>>2763767
INH, you do realize the kind of folks you're running a game for are right? The fact that Daiyu is taller than the PC only entices those interested in her further.

I'd rather romance Sieg ATM though. She just revs my engines for some reason. Daiyu does too, but if ya forced me to pick I'd choose the redhead. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure nothing would make mommy happier than her eldest daughter falling in love and having it reciprocated. I'm actually pretty sure she's already been shipping us. Though she's also liking the Vilma option given how Teruko seems to like it.

Demon Lord has to be a Big Girl

>I'd rather romance Sieg ATM though. She just revs my engines for some reason.

I'm sure you could identify why if you thought about it, good anon.

Romance is something I'd like to take a slower approach on. Mamono culture steers toward polygamy out of necessity but there are still monogamous couples here and there. The honeymoon period of new friendships is over with our cast and Arawn is starting to establish himself as a man properly despite his amnesia, all that training isn't only to better your skills for upcoming conflicts; girls themselves are taking note of your dedication and objectives.

You've got options, unlike my first quest I won't make romance happen so quickly.

>If nothing else, I'm pretty sure nothing would make mommy happier than her eldest daughter falling in love and having it reciprocated. I'm actually pretty sure she's already been shipping us.
