Peek summer is coming to an end, but your adventures in Copse still continue: you've been dissecting and studying little evil Alien corpses left and right, awakening Archie's psychic abilities by almost killing him, and educating Bee Mom's Boys in the ways of mag- Well, you outsourced that last one to woodland hillbillies (though ones Magi potential remains untapped). You also almost got disintegrated by a monster!

Your information is here:

Just in the few following weeks though you orchestrated the confiscation of more Alien goodies from within the Rotwood (and in doing so further antagonized Catherine, but made very brief contact with her Warlock: Candidus) and pawned it off to Archie in exchange for a Falling Star- an excellent and extremely powerful focal point for a fine medium! And.. perhaps the rarest material Archie had to offer.
At the moment you're just heading out of the Commune having finished your business with Archie and the Homunculi.

Accepting new Actions: Your Twins are most likely finished their training with the Priests at Pug, but other then that your schedule is pretty free'd up.

Here's an argument to convince the Hotel Hill and En/Hemlock Changelings about the blood donations/trades. We can take blood samples and record everyone blood type. We can also use the samples to check if someone has some sickness and other insideous stuff in them. Says do right in the book.

>Head over to Pug and pick up the F1 & F2, maybe visit with Cheval and Mimas.
>Roll 6, 1- Well whatever problem they had it's at peek problem'ness when you arrive.

Clouding up you put, put, put, on over to Pug- keeping nice and cozy on your soft cloud and at the perfect temperature in your magical robes it's difficult to stay awake and you almost don't notice how.. Haunted Tollund Bog has become.. The marsh itself seems to shamble and quiver a little just below the surface and an unnatural, cold, cloud constantly hangs over the entire area flooding it with a dreary rain.
You think that's odd, sure, but maybe Cheval and Mimas are doing that? Their Aura or something- either way that isn't the problem you eventually face.

Rats. Pug's sewer as far as the industrial complex >>2763248 has become completely infested with Rats: big rats, small rats, but more importantly Rat Men . Floating into town Pug's massive sewer gate is closed and a barricade has been erected around it- Mimas himself trotting back and forth rather annoyed as he yells at his Orcish forces to keep watch: both him and his men looking frustrated and exhausted.
Mimas is glad to see you when you've arrived; he cleans his long blade of Rat blood, fixes his pony tail, and tries to regain a little composure, "If you're here for your Flesh Golems they're safe in the Manor with the rest of the Court: it's just me, the pigs, the dogs, and the rats out here I'm afraid." You offer a few cantrips: healing and cleaning up him and his men, but you'll have to come back to him later.

In the manner Cheval looks just as annoyed if not more so and her two court Priests: Abel (of the Rot) and Adrienne (of the Pit) look flustered and worried. Cheval is palming the Orcish skull she likes to play with when she's stressed- scratching lines in it with her black claws when you arrive all oblivious and teenage. The court's mood improves immediately.
Your Twins F1 and F2 have completed their training: they've got their own Black and White Robes, SpellBooks, Mediums, and from a mechanical perspective can control 20 Undead Each and have 40 Spell Charges. They're happy to see you and don't hesitate to stand by your side- touching, grasping at you, and holding both of your hands, "Father we learned so much, Father it's been so long, Father there's so many Rats, Father it stinks here, Father-"
They have a lot to say. So does Cheval.
"First it was the Goblins: they came swarming out of the Sewers and flooded the streets and I thought 'A minor inconvenience: a couple of shanty towns here and there, but maybe I can round them up and put them to work in the Bog? But they were just fleeing from the RATS."

Accepting new Actions. Cheval is at her wits end with Rats: they thrive in these filthy conditions, they're resistant to Rot and Shadow, and Rats have historically always plagued Undead and Orc alike, so really no one is having a very good time..

>Rats you say? Are there any breeds of monsters cats around or that you know of we could import?
>Roll 13- SuuUupeRnaTUrAl results.

Cheval finds your question to be cute and disarming; destressing just a bit as your nativity calms her down. "I will admit at my most impulsive moments I did indeed think I could just turn into a beast and head down there myself to solve the problem, but sadly if anything foreign or imported could conveniently kill these filthy creatures I would have called for it.. No, what we need is nothing more than brute force."
-You're genuinely interested to learn that Cheval can indeed turn into: a cloud of miasma, a horrific sexy bat woman, a swarm of bats, a giant black wolf AND a giant black jaguar, but sadly it only made a small dent in their numbers.
You ask Abel and Adrienne if they could do anything, and they both feel Cheval glaring daggers at them as they confess, "Normally we can pray to Nyx or Verminus to help us deal with Rats.. It's, uh.. It's one of our main jobs, but something's been tampering with our Miracles." Cheval interrupts, clutching her Orc skull tensely, "Might I add that only miracles directed AT the Rats aren't working- everything else is FINE. How CONVENIENT."

It's possible the Ratmen may have erected a crude shrine to either or both Gods, but the both feel it's unlikely their deities would just throw them under the bus like this. "Or so they say." Cheval isn't normally agnostic, but the Rats have been getting into her personal things.

>>2763349
>Ask around and investigate to see what we can do to help fix this problem.
>Roll 6- Just scraping by.

Heading out to investigate and hopefully skim the juicy fat of rumors spreading across Pug- you grill the local Pork Chops and Gobbies for any leads.
-The Orcs have nothing useful: there's always been Rats so to them this is just more Rats.
-The Goblins have a mildly interesting story in that while they were chased out the Filth Demons inside the sewer were largely untouched. Maybe they're doing this?

Mimas, though, to add further context agrees: "We've never seen this much trouble from the Rats before- they're usually too disorganized or too busy quivering in the filth to motivate themselves to such feats . I wouldn't doubt for a moment that some third party was causing this... God forbid it's some elaborate or petty distraction from Catherine somehow."
Hmn.

Accepting actions. The most prudent action could just be to gather up a posse and head out down to sweep out the sewers for anything suspicious, but you're open for discussion/planning.

Go down there and fuckin freeze them all to death

no life can thrive at absolute zero
>>
>>2763495
Let's not go off half cocked here. There have been not-so-subtle implications that something weird is going on and the Rats are just a symptom, not the cause.
>>
>>2763510
I'm sure they'll talk if we kill enough of them
>>
>>2763495
>Go down there and fuckin freeze them all to death
>Roll 14- Pretty good.

While the Rats indeed may or may not be the actual cause of the problem: they are a problem and just like how a Wart isn't necessarily a life-threatening problem you're still going to freeze and shatter both of these issues to make your life easier.
Mimas clears out an opening and with your Robes snug on tight you methodically start blasting away while breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth to get a real, cool, decent, Frost Breath going on just to freeze even the moisture in the air. With your new robes this doesn't expend any energy- it feels as natural as, well, breathing: wherever you step you leave a crackling, snapping, line of foot prints that burst and freeze and a constant cloud of biting, cutting, frost mists around you.

-The Rat Density is definitely lowered. They have no means of defense: they can't sneak or penetrate from range your aura of thick, unforgiving, ending cold.. And the odd 10th or so Rat that actually knows magic summons a pitiable bolt of poisonous muck at you that freezes and shatters before it hits you... If one of them knows Death Coil that might be a problem, but they'd gas their friends?

>>2763479
>>2763477
>Contact that Filth Demon.
>Roll 9, 5- Bad, bad but dependable, so you'll get what you 'need'.

You've been kind of pinging the Filth Demon but reception is poor down here: it's smells vile, you're a little busy, and you think they might be in trouble- you get your answers though soon enough.
Turning the corner of a channel you spy at the end of the pipe a large group of Rats chasing down some prey- one of them in particular quite proud of his strength and peppered by arrows turns around when he notices you and makes an attempt at your life, but a big Rat is just a Rat and you make quick ice sculptures of him and his friends before shattering them.
They were chasing a small group of Filth Demon: green skinned, thin long horns, long 'organic' looking hair and buttocks for bosoms. You recognize at least one in the group- she's got a bow, knife, seems to have taken a few levels in ranger, but more in anxiety as she's and her friends are quite.. Stressed.
You slow your entropic roll and ask her how you can help. "I.. The Rats used to listen to us- we thought they were our friends, but some Demon came in and told them they could be in charge of the Sewer and now they're just killing everyone."
Okay, that sounded pretty plot important. What colour and what kind of Demon? "I uh-" A shorter, side-cut, heavy-chested (butted? heavy front butt?) Filth Demon; the Cleric of the group, speaks up "A White Centipede. He came, killed father, put a Rat in charge of the temple, and then left."

>Deploy Paranormal Sense to see if we can find either this leader rat (which I assume would be the most magically powerful) or a white centipede demon that feels like Catherine's spawn.
>Roll 8- Low end, but decent enough. Rolling with advantage.

With this new information you can the area for any sorts of paranormal threats or supernatural forces- trying to see if you can maybe catch a glimpse of that Centipede still lingering or anything else useful.
It's difficult though: there's LOTS of Rats and lots of magical creatures. You ask if the Filth Cleric if she could point you in the right direction and with her assistance you can make out one rather prominent signature lingering around where their temple to Verminus resides.

Seems pretty cut and dry: kill the biggest rat that makes all of the rules and save the sewer. You head up top to see what the cavalry thinks.

>Inform Lady Cheval, Mimas, and gather up that posse.
>Roll 15, 18- Good, dependable and near perfect.

Mimas is pleased, but not as much as Cheval is, she lets out a single undignified laugh and tosses her Orc Skull to Abel who almost drops it, "Perfect! Perfect! Mimas, Caster, be dears and end this ridiculous affair. Immediately."
Cheval basically puts you and Mimas in charge of exterminating the Biggest Rat. Following Mimas back into the 'field', he shows off the various resources he has at his disposal in case you need anything or might find something useful: Orcs, lots of Orcs. Tollund Bog is flush with corpses and Mimas has been harvesting them in case you want to cut off the fat a little early and use them for parts/resources/undead soldiers. He also offers his own services even though he'd be loathed to actually crawl around in the Sewer. Mimas is a Centaur after all and he doesn't suffer claustrophobic spaces very well....
You ask him if the court priests might be of help? "No, no, they're not actually trained in combat. They serve only a cloistered purpose- your servants alone had exceeded the combat skills of their tutors even before they began teaching them." Oh, that's good to know.

>Preparation and Combat rolls.
>Roll 15, 15, 33- Double Dependables and one rather poor, bad (lousy 3's) roll.

Before you head face first into danger you prepare a few forces to tilt the battle in your favor a bit more than it already is: you call for your skeletal gnome mage to come from home (having him cloud out here) and in the mean time you get to rolling some Ice Golems- full and fuming with Endothermic Cores. They're a little unstable, you don't exactly have 'ideal' lab conditions out here, but it'll do.
You also have Mimas bring you 2-3 bloated Orc corpses and then finding a dark, quiet, place you make a very sloppy Wraith- which you stuff inside one of the Orcs, the other getting bloated by Wisps.

The proceeding fight is.. Honestly just drudgery: The Rats are only a bit taller than a Gnome, so maybe 5ft? They're skinny, physically frail, Mimas and his Orcs tower over them, but it's the NUMBERS, there's just so many of them. It's just a long, grueling, endless slaughter. It's made easier though by you sitting back and laying down support: Mimas and his Orcs butcher the Rats and you messily reanimate them- they don't last long, but the shitty zombie rats frighten and push back their own kind just a bit further before they fall to slop.
Eventually Mimas creates enough of an opening for you to penetrate the inner sanctum and the Verminus Shrine within.
There waiting for you in the channeled sewer 'ampitheatre' of these filthy denizens once hallowed sanctuary is a massive, white, rat- he's wearing the skinned green hide of an extremely unlucky Filth Demon as a ceremonial robe, using their skull as a thurnible, and wielding an ugly-huge discarded Orcish Axe.

Honestly despite this description he's just a rat.
He yells and the room floods with more rats: they don't help- picked off by your Golems.
He clumsily mutters a few ineffective support miracles and then joins the fight, but between the Zombies, the exploding Orc corpses, and just you raining down a blizzard of horrors it's all just too much for him. The whole exchange is maybe over in 5 minutes.

Mimas eventually meets up with you: finding the area flooded with rat corpses, half frozen, and the Big Rat that 'had' made all the rules stripped of his morbid trophies and now being cannibalized by the angry Filth Demons for his transgression.

While the area isn't exactly brimming with what you'd consider to be 'loot' after a proper survey of the area... And then an actual turn over the place by Mimas and his Orcs you're successful in turning up a few bits and pieces of what could be considered treasure.

>20- Low Quarter. Trash.
-The Filth Demons have been coming in to refill and reclaim the area from their traitorous Rat repossessors and acknowledge you as their hero. Their princess of sorts: the cleric with the thickness and the fat front butt wishes to reward you.. But.. No... No thank you. No, that's perfectly fine- no it's alright. Don't, not even a kiss on the cheek, really. Just stay over there.

>>2763840
>34- Below Average. Poor Loot.
-There's quite a large stock pile of Orcish Arms, Armor, and Supplies that had been pilfered, looted, and raided from the surface by the Rats. Mimas is okay with you carting it off as while it originally belonged to him; the stuff has been half-eaten, damaged, and what little remains unsullied may as well be pawned off or scrapped.. Perhaps you could find a buyer somewhere outside of Pug?

>>2763848
>Roll 63- Above Average. Perhaps the only thing of worth.
-You've had a look around and.. It looks like there's enough of the Filth Demons 'Father' to put them back together again (their hide, their skull, and several pieces of their half eaten mangled body were correctly identified by their shocked and saddened family and friends). While this obviously isn't necessarily a 'reward'; it's a decent and strategic to do: it would fix the power vacuum in the sewers, fix some of the damage Catherine had done, and these Filthy people would owe you another favor.

>Rez Papa
>4, 16- Pretty good with a bit of a hiccup, rolling at a slight disadvantage though since you're missing quite a bit of him.

There are hundreds of Flower Demons and he's already waited this long he can wait another week.. You're not gonna say that to him, though, once you resurrect him. Either way: you have the Papa Filth Demon's daughters and allies gather his remains so you can resurrect him proper. You think this'll just be another simple rez job- you've already done two now and Demons are typically ez pz, but this one takes quite a lot out of you.
Maybe it's because you're 'just' skirting the cool down, maybe it's because you've only got maybe 40% of his body intact... He's still brought to life, sure: the shadows cast by the pieces bubble up, get a good froth going, the stench is unbearable and makes it difficult to concentrate, but sure enough scum and writhing tentacles form into a filthy frothing pupae and he hatches out fresh and dripping with stem-cell rich mucous: he's rather emaciated but fairly humanoid save for a thick tangle of dozens of matching green prodding tentacles that sprout from his thighs and replace his legs- he's still got a little bum back there and the tell-tale tad-pole tail of a Filth Demon and a healthy head of long lush algae-green hair that flows down to his aforementioned little bum and almost completely hide his juvenile nubby horns.
He clears his throat, handling the physical process of the rez quite well (perhaps not his first time?), "Ah, excellent; I didn't relish stewing away in hells literal shit creek fo- whats wrong with my voice?" He's a 1/3rd the age and size he's supposed to be. This happens only with Demons- normally you'd have just failed, but Demons are extremely resilient.
The other Filth Demons do not seem to mind and if anything are pleased by these developments. "Papa is small and cute!" They're quick to scoop him up and begin clothing him, braiding his long hair, and cleaning him up.

While their Father is annoyed, he pledges the loyalty of his Tribe to your cause against Catherine. All 2/3rds of the Demon and Fey Tribes have sworn they'll help you dethrone Catherine.

>Report back to Mimas and Cheval: good news, reward, snafu.
>Roll 12, fucking 1, 15- Good, but man o man is that a baaaad roll.

So, good news, bad news, maybe some middle news, but here goes:

You head up back to the surface with Mimas happy that you could have been of assistance and with your quest completed you're eager to hopefully receive some sort of reward. While you're on your way you ask Mimas in the midst of polite conversation if he knows anything about Tollund Bog become more and more haunted >>2764095? "Ah, yes, that's actually being caused by Lady Cheval. She's quite old you see- a Queen Vampire of certain degree, but she didn't want to play her hand out in the open 'till I had been returned to her court safely. Now with me back she doesn't have to, eh.. 'container' herself and her aura sort to speak can affect the land around her."
That's kind of interesting, but you've never seen her do any magic is she.. Just really old? Mimas nervously laughs, "We don't talk about how old my Lady Cheval is."

While in court Cheval is immediately pleased to see your return, she's exclaims she knew you had succeeded since as the Rats have been dissipating and growing fewer and fewer in number as 'we' speak: the streets draining of Rats and the plague over. A 'minor' inconvenience, sure, but she immensely appreciates your assistance in these matters and wishes to thank you-
Until you tell her you revived the Filth Demon's Patriarch.
She isn't mad, just annoyed. There will be no party and no reward. She wants you to take your Twins and begone for now so she can reevaluate the sewers.

You're.. Very confused, but Mimas being a true Knight is sympathetic and explains, "Ehh.. Lady Cheval was hoping everyone in the Sewers would be dead so she could expand underground and build something a little more.. 'comfortable'. She's showing quite a lot of restraint- she's been wanting for the right opportunity to get rid of her Orcs and move underground for a decade now... She can wait longer, obviously, but it's been a stressful 75 years."
That said, as soon as the court doors close behind you; the four of you (Mimas, your twins, and you) can hear Cheval throwing a fit as her own priests try to calm her down.

Mimas finds your concern charming, but it's misguided: Cheval is very old and really she isn't angry at 'you', she's just angry at a lot of things and you're merely the most recent thing to inconvenience her in some way or another, "She'll calm down, collect herself, and be back to normal in no time at all- she's far too old to be getting angry at teenage boys. Such behavior is unbecoming of a proper lady."
Mimas takes you and your twins out and around for a small platonic date: you eat, have some drinks, take in a few fights at the arena, and watch the Peons burn all these lousy Rat bodies outside of town since nobody really wants them. Not you, not the Orcs.
Mimas gives you one final assurance, "Don't be so apologetic about doing the right thing either, such behavior isn't becoming of a proper man." ... Which is far better advice than the Twins gives since they're extremely biased.

>>2764178
>After she calms down, tell her that they've pledged to help against Cathrine, if she strategizes right she can get them all killed against Cathrine's forces. Then the sewers will be hers.
>Roll 11- Good, but Weird.

It's around midnight before things settle down; you, Mimas, and your Twins head back to pack things in, say goodbye to the court, make peace with Cheval, and head back home.. You explain to Cheval -when she's willing- that the Filth Demon Tribe has promised to help you with Catherine, "That's well and good, but it doesn't help 'me'."
You're.. Not exactly going to advocate anything either way, but.. You know.. Anything could happen inbetween that fight. "Indeed, it could..Hmmn."

-Cheval gives you a lock of black hair that belongs to the Succubus Spy she has planted around her old Manor. "So you don't mess up any of my other plans and accidentally kill my Succubi while trying to do the right thing."
-This will help you identify and Seance ping her if need be.

>>
>>2764255
Oh!, while we are here and since we just learned about the spy, let's tell Lady Cheval about that ley line so she can relay to her spy to keep Catherine away from it.
>>
Your Twins are sent home for the time being- they wish to head out early (a polite way of saying they don't want to spend a moment more in Pug). You motion to vape out a cloud, but they decline: they wish to demonstrate their magics and instead make their own evil little clouds! You're very proud.

>Ask Lady Cheval if she'd like to poke back at Catherine by supplying us with any spare bodies laying around so we can send more 'inventive' and 'fun' creations her way.
>Roll 3- Weird and Bad.

Lady Cheval is confused by this offer since Mimas told her he had just sent you the latest shipments of bodies dredged up from the bog surrounding this land. Even Mimas, confirms this story, "They just left a few days ago, have you not been getting them? They should only take a day or so to arrive.."
The deliveries are unmanned: Mimas just animates a few skeletons or shitty zombies to carry the coffins to you.. So it's possible they may have hit a snag somewhere inbetween.

>Ask if the Succubus is a Succubus (male)
>Roll 20- Complete and Total Success.. In this effort.

"My Succubus?" Cheval is confused by this line of questioning since she thought you knew that all Demons were male and that their Genders were something of a..mix of personal choice and etiquette. "I mean, I don't really mind or dwell on it too much-" Cheval goes on to talk about how she once was immensly interested in Demonology as a solution to the problems facing Copse and it's lack of Humans. "I, myself, was at one point quite an accomplished Demonoligist and had an extensive court and library of knowledge until, well, things got out of hand.. Here, actually, she isn't too busy- why don't you play with her a bit? It'd be good for you two to know one another"
She summons her Succubus before you even have a say in the matter.
She looks like just another white-spawn of Catherine until she slips off a sewn hide-cloak of demon skin revealing a far more 'typical' Succubi appearance: red skin, black hair, hanging under a pair of rather masculine, long, curving horns, black wiry 'pronged' bat-like wings on her back matching her thick-skinned 'barb-wire' tail, and one hand in a long gnarly red claw. She wears a lot of crotch-less, loose-fitting, black leather and hide held up by belts and chains, stands well over your head in exaggerated heels, and has a cup-size that takes after her master.
And a crotch that takes after Mimas. Everything worth piercing is pierced.

Cheval waves at the two of you, "This is the boy I've been telling you about, go, go play."
The Succubi eyes you up and down with her infernal eyes.
"He is a Child." Cheval leans back, "Is.. That a problem?" The Succubi takes your hand with her soft feminine left hand, "No. If anything it's better."

You've spent the better portion of maybe 20 or so hours at Pug and you're pretty ready to go home yourself, but you've got one more trick up your sleeve.... After you finish your nap on top of the Succubus. You're a bit of a "post-sex-napper" kind of guy.

First thing you do is confirm that they aren't at home:

>Call to see if it arrived at our home while we were visiting the Commune.
>roll 17- Luckkyyyyyy!

They aren't, but everything is doing really well though back at the base: all the people are getting along, the Gnomes have begun selling stuff in the market, Honey Hill is as sweet as it's ever been and your twin golems are happy to be home. Everything is as it should be.... That's good, but that doesn't really help your current investigation.
Getting dressed and prying your self off of Cheval's Succubus you head on out and move to your next pla- well, okay, maybe a little heavy petting, but only because you miss Butcher's sheer SIZE and this Succubi offers some 'smaller' colour coded proxy.

>>2764420
>Ask Mimas to send out a decoy shipment so we can shadow it and track it to see if anyone has been poaching the shipments or if there's a problem somewhere
>Roll 16- Good, Well Above Average Results.

You want Mimas to load you up a decoy shipment, but he says he'll do you one better: he'll load up a rather large delivery of nothing but Rat corpses. He'll even clumsily animate a few of the bodies just to fuck with whoever's stealing them if they manage to get away from you. You thank Mimas, give him and the Succubus a good bye kiss for luck- What are you still doing here? "It's on the route back to work. We can car pool.... I can shapeshift, don't give me that look- Unless you're going to whip and burn me then give me that l- " Alright, you can come, whatever.
Mimas tries to convince you the Succubus is far more powerful than she lets off, "She's only being playful because Cheval's spoken quite highly of you but neglected to tell her.. You're.. A teenager, so I imagine this is quite amusing." Hmn, yes, amusing.

The Coffins are shipped out "Lets ride on top of them!" You do not ride on top of them. You ride slowly and quietly back quite a ways just so they're in sight- tailing behind them to figure out what's going on. You keep a close eye on the coffins while.. The Succubus slides you into her lap and braids your hair, "You have such healthy, black, hair. I love your freckles. Is this your ribbon? Do you crossdress? You'd look amazing with your hair tied up-" She's like this for hours and you almost fall asleep since you will admit: having her softly banter to you while she fixes you up with downward pig tails- it's tempting to just drift off into her fat heaving demon tiddies.

But when she points out the culprit you go from drowsy to offensively awake in a matter of seconds. "Shit, dude, look at that weirdo!"

>Accompany the next shipment yourself.

So, this is rather stupid and lazy of her.
Catherine planted a Tree on your coffin's route.

You're understating of course: planted a Demon Tree. White veiny flesh in place of bark, four mouths that line the bottom of the trunk; it blooms a grotesque crop of male genitals as fruits. The creature has killed several rather unlucky people already (their bodies hanging morbidly from the creatures limbs) and it doesn't seem to be in any crush to consume it as it's next course has come right on time.

You watch as the disgusting thing's roots slither up from the dirt and grasp one of the coffins with appendages ending in malformed human hands. Seizing the coffin- it cracks the wooden box over it's container.. To fill it's mouth with dozens of reanimated Rat Zombies who bite, cut, and struggle feverishly before it's confused mouths can gnash them to paste.. It then vomits it all up- disgusted by the putrid Rat Flesh. "Big dumb shit ain't got no eyes!" How is she the spy? She isn't eloquent in the slightest.

She's right though, the Demon Tree has no eyes and it once again blindly sends out it's limbs to take another casket full of rotting, putrid, angry, Rat Zombies so it can make the same mistake once again.

What should you do?

You're not gonna get into your whole life story, but you kind of fell from your little cloud and landed in the canopy of the big, gay, demon tree. The leaves look like leaves, but they feel just like ears and there's.. uh.. Fruit everywhere. The Tree has been well fed on passerbys and your corpse shipments and has produced a plentiful and healthy 'crop'.
"Fuck, kid, kiddo, do.. Do you want me to come down and help you?" No, you're fine.. You just need to get up, but it's difficult to get a good grip on anything- The crown of the tree and where you've landed is lined with breasts- Why are Demons so fucking weird. You're not fine. This Tree is a big homo.
"Ya! Ya, you tell him!" You will.

>>2764550
>Try to communicate with the Tree.
>Roll 9.

The tree, unfortunately, is not sapient: it cannot be communicated in any meaningful manner and seancing it just reveals it's emotional context: excitement, hunger, arousel, you're not sure which is worse.
You are, however, very remotely lucky: you've been laying in the lap and ontop of Cheval's Succubus nearly all day and you don't smell like 'food' to the tree- you smell like another Demon, but you're up there fiddling and grasping at things and crawling around.
In the simple-animal-level intellect of the Tree's mind you're not food, you're not attacking it, and you reek, so you must be here for a good time: it tries to facilitate this by becoming 'flushed' and then provocatively waving and displaying all it's various assets.. You're.. You're kinda done here.

>Study and Survive- from a better vantage point.
>Roll 14- Good enough. You'll take it.

You yell at Cheval's Succubi to come rescue you. "Sure thing, kiddo."
She drops down from the cloud, landing with a dense thud perfectly on her high heels, and then brandishes a long, barbed, whip.
She then whips the absolute piss out of the tree, "Alright you shitty tree, you know the rules: you can't be planted within 2,000 feet of a caster, so give me back my unaccompanied minor." The tree protests- trying to enwtine her with it's roots, but she flutter jumps up and painfully rains back down her heel into the trees palms.
Eventually she makes an opening and snatches you back.
"I know this is, like, inappropriate and you just got fondled by the cock-tree, but you smell amazing right now."

>Roll 20- Complete and unarguable success.

You're embarrassed, you were molested by a tree, and now Cheval's Succubus won't stop sniffing you and making inappropriate comments while on the job "I resent that statement, but continue."

You're just gonna tear that bitch outta the ground. You expunge all 50 of your spell slots to bring forth a pair of absolutely massive Ghost Hangs to just right the Demon Tree out of the grand like an irate Dandelion: unluckily for the creature it's roots don't actually run very deep and this is actually a simpler task than you previously thought it would be.. The Tree, though, is ridiculously heavy.
-The Tree would.. Technically be added to your inventory, but you know- it's a giant cock, tit, demon tree, so it obviously can't conveniently be listed in your belongings.
Either was as soon as the Tree is completely rooted from the ground the creature goes limp.

It was bad enough they got killed by the immobile, oblivious, smelly idiot.
There's 7 victims in total: 5 of them are Gnolls, 1 of them is a Changeling Man.....

>Tree Ass.
>Roll 5, 3.

Interestingly enough you're right, it's a Demon, it eats meat, food goes in, so it's gotta come out somewhere.
The Tree's ass is located right underneath it where a butt is normally located: the creatures roots all connect to a series of disturbingly humanoid thighs that circle around the underside of the trunk and create a single butt with quite possibly over 12 or more butt cheeks. This creature anatomy reads like a bad joke.
The hollowed out crater left behind where the Tree had been uprooted is a truly unpleasant pit you won't even bother to elaborate on.
You'd rather distract yourself by scanning the area with your paranormal sense- thankfully it seems there's no other trees or saplings to speak of.

Sort of.
The tree is made of meat, but it's still a tree: if you know what you're doing you can hack off non-lethal parts of the tree and harvest it of flesh.. You can also bleed it for blood instead of sap, but it'll unfortunately be Demon Blood which is only good for Demons (only naturally occurring creatures have different blood types, so don't worry about that.)

>Does a spellcaster who becomes a vampire retain their spellcasting abilities in addition to their new undead capabilities?

Yes.
People who become Vampires more or less retain all their class levels unless their classes powers dependent upon the power of some Undead Intolerant God- then things get complicated.

>Or do they awaken as a new entity, reborn anew in undeath?

Difficult to say even meta-aside.
Vampires have different impulses, entirely foreign natural instincts, and no mortal no matter how persistent or charismatic can maintain their personality and identity over the course of centuries.

Last time on Caster Quest we mostly focused on tying up some loose end at Pug: getting our Twins back so we can move ahead with our Flesh Golem plans and ridding the Orcish city of it's festering, rampant, impudent, horde of RatMen that had been riled up by a Centipede of Catherine and turned traiterous at the first chance they got for something better.
Rats, amirite?
You also complicated Cheval's life by reviving the Filth Demon's Father: Papa Filth, he's at a 1/3rd of his power and age, sure, but he's still quite powerful and has pledged his Filthy Demons aid when the time comes to overthrow Catherine. All that leaves is the Hags of Copse.

>Try and bring everything back home: The Tree, the bodies/skeletons, etc..
>Roll 4, 5- Easier said than done.

You're in for quite a long haul: you're still maybe an hour and a half away from home, the tree is very heavy, and what's worse now that it's uprooted the smell it uses to attract prey is making you stink even more while carrion birds, feral dogs, and at least one very confused wolf follow behind looking for an opportunity to.. They're not really to sure either, but they smell 'something' good.
You really only just barely manage to arrive home with the Tree: absolutely exhausted, sweating, a little sun burnt, and Cheval's Succubus having tapped out once she was confident you'd make it the rest of the way to your backyard- extending her bat like wings and flying off to the woods before wishing you luck.

Back at home the staff welcome you, but there's quite a mixed reaction to your 'spoils'.
Eloy and Avarice are interested but know only trivial knowledge about the tree. Avarice, especially, is quite excited, "I haven't seen one of these in a very long time.. In a far worse place."
Annie is mildly curious, but relents that the people might find it.. distasteful.
The Twins don't have any comments- they help you unpack, Ghost Hand the Tree from you, cast preserve on the Corpses, and clean up that Hag's dead body.

The few villagers that spy it are offended, but they're squatters, so who cares what they think.

>Build an area to keep it contained/isolated and mostly out of sight. Maybe dig a slight depression in the ground and use the dirt to a embankment around it then a tall fence on top of that. Part Eloy and Avarice incharge of it's care.
>Roll 17- Luckyyyyy

The Twins pass the tree off to Eloy and Avarice whom get to work with the Hobgoblins and a few of the more... "tolerant" villagers who're looking to make a little extra cash on the side.
Either way they set out a little ways behind the manner well over and under the 'ledge' where Honey Hill begins to incline: from there they dig a sizable moat, Eloy and Avarice craft some crude atheist binding agents (mostly salt rocks), and the have the Villagers plant the tree in a large hole before it's allowed to get comfortable.
-Eloy and Avarice don't know much about Demon Trees specifically- they've only ever eaten their fruit, y'know how ignorant 'city boys' can be? But Eloy DOES know a thing or two about magical creatures. Suspicious of it's white colouration- he makes a shallow cut in the creature and pulls out a white, leech-like, creature and kills it.
-The Demon Tree's colour returns to a healthier flushed, supple, pink-reddish hue.

>Bath, Snack, and Flesh Golems.
>Roll BOLT takes the highest roll- 13! 17!

Meanwhile: you wash off the tree's big stink and your own sweaty filth. Annie draws you a bath and fixes you a lovely snack of some cheese, fruit, just a tiny bit of wine (The Gnomes have been selling a bit of it to your town) and those little Bee Woman Honey Biscuits you love so much. Once you're done you slip out of the tub, get dressed, and are completely refreshed and ready to get back to work. Specifically on those Flesh Golems clogging up your storage.

With the Twins help it's a matter of the Dead raising the Dead: ad infinitum.
-For the moment: 28/31 Flesh Golems are successfull reanimated.
-Out of the 28 your 'Mayor' was Animated: he's Arcane/Wizard capable.

>try to find clues about the hag from the remains to see if we can get a feel for their personality before rezzing
>Roll 5- Bad, but dependable.

You've got some time inbetween raising Flesh Golems to check on the Hag's corpse; you want to know just the basics: how evil is she exactly? Does she know the Hag's at Hag Hole? Is she influential at all? If you're gonna raise an evil creature like her back from the dead you're gonna want to make it worth your effort and grevious sin. From a seance you read a few things from her mind:
-She was gathering reagents from the Tree when it raped and strangled her. Shit, sorry.
-She is 100% in hell right now. Well, not so sorry.
-She is at least affiliated with the "Hag's Hole" Hags.

>Harvest the dickfruits and throw them at villagers.
>Roll 20

You pick at least one of the ripe Dickfruits and chuck it at an irate villager complaining about one of your projects.
He had his mouth open.

All the Flesh Golems are a little groggy, but with the Twins watching over them and Annie's help they're all up and running in no time and orientating themselves- wandering about the Lab and thinking about their new lives.... Well, inbetween gagging from that awful, strong, horrible tasting pro-biotic you make out of rotten yogurt and grave dirty you have to feed them.
-The 'Magi' or Mayor Golem knows some both Magic and Mundane Alchemy- he's actually quite knowledgable and may have gotten the best brains you could scrounge up.
-There's at least 1 Flesh Golem who knows non-magical Alchemy, by that you mean he can't turn lead into gold, but he can still brew up a potion or two.
-The rest are an even split between farmers, hunters, traders, artisans, and craftmen- but all of them have a decent spread of 'martial' class levelry: rogue, thief, ranger, fighter, etc...
-One of them was a Priest, but her powers don't really work anymore (sorry).

>Get The Hag's opinion on the Corpse.
>Roll 1, 3, 13- Worst, bad and weird, SUPERNATURAL GOOD.

The Twins manage the Flesh Golems from there- you head out to maybe.. Interview the Hag's Hole clan about this Hag you've got.
There's a lot more of them here then there were last time. Some of them are pretty violently attractive, but there's a few saggy uggo's amongst them, a handful of Hag Children too.
They're.. pensive about your visit. The tall one though with the long neck is there to greet you- Monster Hair robe, belt of dried humanoid hands, "What can I do for you?"
You drop the body down and ask her if she knows the bitch.
"Hmn, She was a new girl: heard Copse was infested with Demons and headed off to gather ingredients. She's probably meeting all sorts of Demons now, though, Heh, eh?"
You ask if she'd give you anything for her Resurrection.
She scratches her long neck with her ragged claws, "That's.. An interesting offer.. Hmmn..We could take advantage of that." She lazily motions to one of the Hag's children and they bring out a Black Grimoire.
"We could give you this old Spell Book?" She pulls one of the hands off her belt and starts idly nibbling it.. Doting, she leans down to offer you some, No, uh.. Thank you.

Seems pretty cut and dry: A new Spell Book (3 Shadow Spells) for 1 Hag Rez

>>
>>2766864
>>2766896
>Accept, the trade is complete then.
>Roll 12, 16, 16- Good, good rolls and dubs no less.

You agree and the Long Hag is courteous enough to hand you the Black Grimoire as a down payment, no fuss, no muss.

>Bible Black “This text is deceptively dense both in weight and content: entailing Shadow Spells meant to plagiarize the Miracles of Nyx for the use of non-beilevers.”

>Black Tentacles, “Mancy, Transmutation, for 30 minutes produce black writhing tentacles from any surface covered in shadow within sight. The thickness, number, and consistency can be freely altered. Tentacles produced spawned off your body from your own shadows are capable of translating touch and feeling.”

>Shadow Thread, “Transmutation, use a shadow to weave cloth that can be 'molded' and shaped into clothing. Shadow Thread is air dry only and must be washed with cold water.

>Black Haunt, “Transmutation, Illusion, for up to 3 hours turn a 30ft square radius around you (up but not down, think a 'dome' shape) into a field of dark, miasmatic, thematically negative space: within this space 'evil' creatures roll with advantage, are protected from 'good' & sunlight, and are comfortable. Larger charges may increase the spells permanence and radius size.

Technically you have to call in a favor: >>2766896 Because while your Dark Rez is down your Twin's is still up and naturally they're more than happy to help their 'Dark Father' with whatever Dark Deeds he needs to do!
While they prepare the body and the ritual, the Long Hag patiently waits while toking up. The other Hags don't like you, but Long seems to be pretty okay with your existance- she even offers you a hit, but you decline. Never accept any 'consumables' from a Hag.. Even friendly ones.

>>2766876
>also tell them cathrine will plant more hag killing trees so they might as well help us kill her first

She honestly could go either way, "I'm not exactly their leader, I'm just the one who isn't afraid or hates you.. But, I mean, a Bitch is a Bitch is a Bitch. We're mostly just out here since it's really a place to 'be' : no witch hunters, no church, no body throws a fit if somebody goes missing every once in a while.. It is what it is."
The other Hag finally comes to: her body restored, she's sensitive and suffers from mild rez sickness- mostly dry heaving, confusion, dizzy'ness, but alive.
"You okay over there?" Long yells at her 'comrade' rather chalant.
"Hung over, sore, and looking to puke my guts out if I had anything in them, but still better than I was in Hell."
Long flicks her half-spent toke at her, "breath deep."

While you're out here you take care of a few chores and the first one on that list is delivering this Changeling body you found strangled by the Tree and giving it back to En: Priest Boy might have something interesting to say or do with it.. You don't know, but it won't hurt to pop in, say hi, and dive out either way.
-En is quite peaceful; they've been keeping an eye on that Hag activity, but both forces have kept to themselves and there's no problems 'so far'.
-The Priest boy accepts the body and has a look over it- he identifies it as one of the Men who came out to Hemlock. He's not an adventurer, just an unlucky farmer, but he'll get around to him sometime in a week or so. You give the Priest Boy's church a small donation.. From outside.
-Emir confesses that Livestock have been disappearing, but he doesn't believe there's anything worthy of your 'time' to spend over here. "It's probably just a Coyote or a Bird, nothing to worry about."

Next stop is a two parter: You radio'd Archie, asked him about tutoring a Flesh Golem, and he said he'd be fine with it.. So you're here escorting your Magi-Mayor to the Commune.
-The Process takes around 2 Weeks and you eventually get him back, Archie beaming, "He was an excellent student- powerful and charismatic too, he often quarreled with Moe, though." Huh, funny.
-Your Magi Flesh Golem once he does return comes back supplied with all the fixings: Homunculi-style Robe (think a white body suit that goes up to the neck and a very skimpy loose robe over top with gold trim- very aesthetic.), Spell Book, Staff, Reagent Pouch and even a nice little graduation dagger Archie had made for him.

She's.. Actually quite thrilled, "A Demon Tree? You found a Demon Tree?" If you can: send her some cuttings, she can germinate some saplings for her people and send you some if you so desire. She used to have a whole orchard of them growing at the Estate.. "That putrid bug is probably getting fat off of."

You're a lot more energetic, you don't last longer, you're just firing a LOT more rounds, and after a grueling 15 hour marathon she's left ragged and laid out.

While it's nice to have Butcher back you need to get back to your research; there's still just a bit more to learn and squeeze out of Copse before you can 'truly' consider yourself it's most grandest Necromancer.. Just a few more pushes.
-Going over your texts you notice a pattern- a most powerful, unquestionably lethal spell that holds absolute destruction. The 'coup de grace', normally a spell so powerful it's restricted to the uses of Priests, Clerics, and Paladins alone in the form of Power Word: Death.. It is.. Finger of Death. A legendary Spell rumored to have been plagiarized from Death herself. The First and Last God.
Sadly your research ends there.
Butcher sweeps away your books before loudly slamming her half-flaccid length on the table. "Brother Avarice showed me the little dress the Vampires gave you. Put it on then ruin me."
Alright.

You're still a little foggy minded and distracted, obviously, but luckily you've planted the seed beds of a fine staff of supportive people.
The Twins, Avarice, and your Magi-Mayor come to your assistance and after spending a day surveying and referencing materials.. They find one that is perfect.

He smiles, but his reflective eyes have dilated into thin slits from the pressure.
Despite his visible difficulty to contain his ravenous nature in front of so much food and entertainment, he remains composed and professional: cutting samples, containing them, healing the tree, and packaging them so they can be delivered to Cheval. Not a single indulgent act.

Chemmy and his Goblins have actually set up a 'small' Den within the caverns, their population has doubled (loadsa' kids, including a few hobbies and one very lost Troll.) and have thrived despite the cold conditions and the abundant monsters.. Or maybe it's due to these harsh conditions and abundance of monsters? Either way Chemmy and his Goblins -decked out in frost-resistant fluffy fashion- are ecstatic to see you again: meat, fruit, alcohol, and entertainment is brought out for you to dine, wine, and pine a good portion of the day away with the Gobbies.

>Rolling to make a cloak using Shadow Thread so we can sneak into the forest at night. I want them unicorn or nightmare bones.
>Roll 70- Luckyyyyy, but you need an 80. Consecutive rolls count though.

A couple days later after being thoroughly gobbed and snowed in.. You waddle back home and plan a new quick adventure: throwing together a cloak of Shadows out of your new spell (your old robe is made out of this same material, btw), you dive head first into enemy territory under the cover of darkness to hunt down and scout out the possible location of some Unicorns.
You thankfully avoid detection by any of Catherines forces -ironically not as active at night- and spy.. Nightmares. They're large, black, miasmatic-resistant, and a beautiful large breed of horse- and while you don't 'see' him, you can feel the overwhelming supernatural presence of a Black Unicorn somewhere close..
It's unfortunately too dangerous to continue or enact a kill as both you and the horses seem to be on high alert. You shuffle on out, but make note of where their herd grazed.

((Surprisingly difficult to find good Unicorn pictures- they're always way too 'clean' looking, like a really handsome, sleek, delicate, domesticated horse with a horn instead of a wild gnarly hairy goat-donkey-hybrid like I need. ))

>Seance the nightmare. I don't want to kill it. It's too beautiful.
>Roll 16, 17- Luckyyyy. Racial Bonus. Rolling with Advantage.

Horses have always had a significant influence in Human Culture: they carried your people on their backs across the plains until every race was suppressed beneath their hooves and the humans unwilling to ever step back down became Centaurs. That's, of course, a myth, but you've always thought it was a good story either way.
So you Seance the Nightmares. They're.. Not smart, they're horses, but you can 'perceive' their emotional state and this makes it easier to get close and attempt at befriending and taming one. It also helps you pick out a Feral Nightmare that had escaped Cheval's Stables- refusing to let foreign Demons ride them.
A few Carrots, a few head pats, and you're riding out of the Rotwood in such impeccable Necromancer-Style you're only just barely passing the rolls to resist hoopin' and hollerin' as Humans are oft to do when riding Horses.
>Congratulations: you've tamed a Nightmare. You now own 'two' Beasts: Ginger your Garm and this Nightmare.

>>2767746
>>2767761
>Consult your options concerning Unicorn Bone.
>Occultist 6- Well Below Average.
>Own Research- Above Average.

Riding back home caveman style- gripping the Horses hair, the people of town are thoroughly impressed by such a display and in your eyes your right to rule is quietly being enforced further. Eloy, Annie, and the Flesh Golems are especially thrilled: riding in on a noble Nightmare is quite becoming of a proper 'Lord'.... But sadly you can't linger and show off, you need to get back to work.
You Seance the Occultist for resources and you spend a few hours researching and discussing methods with Eloy- you haven't abandoned those Unicorn bones just yet.
-The Occultist tells you she 'could' get a hold of some Unicorn Bones, but it would be difficult. (You'd need at least over an 80 loot roll)
-Eloy understands your trepidation about killing a Unicorn, they're a powerful indicator Species and a sign that a wooded area is rich with mana.. But it would be extremely difficult and convoluted to capture one alive, sedate it, and go through the nessecary procedure. (Killing it would take a 17 or higher, Capturing, Dissecting, and Releasing would require three d20 rolls over 15)
-You.. You could also just do it on your Nightmare, but, again: it'd be an inexpensive 'proxy'. Pale comparison to Unicorn.

You've been given a lot to think about.

We probably don't want to be too active around there, it's more or less in Catherine's territory and we don't want her to find out about it.
>>
Seriously what if we could turn a nightmare into a unicorn by keeping it in an area with an even higher amount of mana like the hidden gnome village? Maybe we can set something up with the flower demons and some of our flesh golem citizens. I'm sure at least one or two of them would be interested in the prospect of overseeing nightmares or checking out old gnome aritecture.
>>
>>2767926
What if we fortify it? What if we can cut a chunk of her territory out by implanting shrines of Scylla or some other nice God?
>>
>>2767945
Not sure a bunch of little shrines would be all that effective unless we put on like every 5 feet. And we couldn't just ring the area off because Catherine has flying troops, they'd have to be through out the entire territory. And holy sites aren't just one-and-done, they require periodic blessings and upkeep. The logistics just don't seem feasible.
>>
>>2767965
that's a fair point. what if we were to, maybe trick a troup of paladins to fight Catherine?
>>
>>2767987
But then we would be the next targets alongside Lady Chevals court
>>
>>2767987
To get them to invest them selves heavily enough to come all the way out here and fight a war against a demon might be hard but doable. Convincing them to quietly surrender the area to us or our allies afterwords and be left to our own devices would be near impossible.
>>
>>2767993
By then they would be have been too exhausted fighting Catherine. Plus we got a bunch of friends in Copse. We could also fake being a necromancer by putting away all our undead and putting on modified miasma hiding cuffs like last time.

>>2767997
then we'll just have to beat up the survivors.
>>
>>2767908
>What if we tame more night mares and build a stable in the abandoned mana rich gnome village?
>Roll 3- Bad and weird.

Butcher pulling you into her lap actually knows something about this, "Gnome Village? The Mana Spring?" She tells you that Catherine problem doesn't know about it's significance, but she is at least aware that the area you speak of is flush with dangerous monsters and is the only place she still 'tries' to avoid as much as possible in between very planned out and 'safe' hunting expeditions for meat.. Having exhausted the Goth Tree and the Shrike's neck of the woods.
"How did someone small and squishy like you get in there?" She doesn't doubt it'd be fine pasture land for Nightmares though.

>>2767903
>Try to apply a tiny dab of pure mana to our Shrike cube while we mull things over.
>Freebie.
In between your Equestrian goals you find some time to give a little dabby dab of pure, clean, honey-golden Mana (you've got a whole jar!) to the Shrike Cube -now a mangled, half-formed, 1/3rd dripping Shrike body you keep in the lab's storage- The Mana is immediately consumed and the body sizzles twitching and seizing in irritation.... You're unsure if that's harmed or helped it? It left a very brief scar that bleached the flesh and even feather white.
>I wonder if we could consult the birds and see if there are any old unicorns at the end of their life already.
>7- Fuckin' LUCKY.

You haven't given up though: you ask the magpies, crows, ravens, pteordactyls, even the odd condor if they've spotted head or hind of any.. Perhaps.. 'old' and 'dying' Black Unicorns in the woods? You know? Just a really unhealthy, ragged, fuckin' GOAT of a Unicorn who's days are numbered?
-A Magpie divulges the information.. In exchange for a silver spoon.. Before he beckons you close and whispers tell of an old, old, Unicorn Nag that had just died a week or so ago. "Unlikely you'll get a feed on if that's what you're lookin' for, Boss, but the bones? They'll be easin' pickin's I plum reckon." Unicorn bones remain hallowed for several weeks after death: retaining it's magical potency, but obviously still dangerous.

>>2767921
>Ask the Occultist to try her best
>Roll 86- That's over 80!

Coincidentally, the Occultist eventually gets back to you with some information after maybe a week and a half: she's been doing nothing but looking for Unicorn bone and eventually she found some, though quite costly. She says if you're willing to cover the exorbitant price she'd be willing to purchase it and ferry it back to you.. But it would, indeed, costly you quite a sum. This is Unicorn after all, even if it isn't 'fresh'.

Seems luck is on your side: you could go into the Rotwood and scavenge that corpse or buy some 'older' but hand delivered bone from the Occultist. It's your choice.

That just seems a bit too cruel and underhanded. Also risky because we wouldn't control just how strong a force they would bring. I mean, holy symbols aren't a 100% guarantee and again there would be the problem of keeping the area sanctified. Which would require a priest going out there frequently and being at risk of being waylaid by Catherine.

>>2768018
>Let's both scavenge the corpse and buy it from the Occultist! Backups in case of tragedy.
>Roll 6- Low, low, but it's accepting and paying a package.

Easy peasy, Occultist comes in maybe a week later and the transaction takes place, no need to be stingy when it comes to materials.
-You may a small purse of gold and a medium sized chest of silver to the Occultist for the bones. If not a King's ransom at least a Priests. Avarice is loathe to part with the money, but he'll recover.

This is the last you see of home for nearly 3 months.

>>2768058
>While we are in there bring the Shrike cube and see how it responds being in the shadows of Rotwood.
>Roll 14- An odd roll, but a high average.

One of the things you bring with you on our travels is the Shrike corpse- tied to your body, but once it's deep enough in the deep, dark, haunted wood the darkness and magic of the forest seems to possess it. The corpse still only partially formed spasms, flexes, and you pry it off your back: the Shrike's barely functioning body standing on one crooked arm and a small asymmetric leg- scuttles off into the darkness: pulsating and leaving a trail of black discharge.
-As shocking as that was... You think that's for the best.

>>2768025
>harvest fresh bones
>Roll 18- Near perfect success!

Luckily, you're able to get to the Black Unicorn Bones without contest or issue. The bones glow like moonlight: pure, cool, not piercing the darkness, but complimenting it, making it calm and 'gentle'. The bones seem to have been picked cleaned by the good-aligned creatures of this haunted forest. Gently and thoughtfully: you grasp the bones one at a time and preserve what you can; you'll admit they burn to the touch, but it isn't the kind of 'pain' you reel from, your body acknowledging as if it were recompense.
>Black Unicorn Bone (4/5): "These ivory bones create a dull glow that emanates a hallowed 'cool' aura. There's a certain darkness about these bones that you don't find frightening; it's more like being wrapped in a big blanket, soft and nostalgic."

>>2768030
>Oh shit, let's ask the Gardener to help us with wood-walking through the forest to find that Unicorn skeleton
>Roll 1. Very Bad.

You think it an easy thing: you'll just ask Gardener to come carry you back home through the Trees and it'll be a one and done deal. Easy Peasy and Gardener thinks so too.
Your hand slips though and you fall. You fall deep, deep, down into a Tree.

It's difficult to put into words, but if you had to likening it to anything you've experienced it feels more like you're sinking in water and less like falling. You hold your breath for as long as you can and see what little light the forest shines through the trees disappear above you.. You fall so far down that you can even make out the various branching lakes and rivers of both the small and large ley lines rooting around underneath Copse' wood- like Golden stars.

Finally you land safely on your back and you gasp for breath.
Sitting up, you look around:
You see a monochrome land of absolute definitive darkness with only the white vegetation around you visible. There is no wind. There are no smells. No sound beyond your heart beating inside your chest.

You've become temporarily phase shifted into some unseelie or feyish pocket realm. You'll eventually unshift back to your native realm, obviously, but you might want to do something to, uh.. Expedite your emigration.

>+Quest Item+
>Unseelie Herbs, "Exceptionally rare monochrome herbs perfectly white and looking more like a wax sculpture than a true plant, they can only be found growing in Unseelie Fey Realms- normally outside the reach of mortals."

You make sure to Dark Ring your hands when you're done. >>2768166 Most of your magic isn't working properly, but Ice, Dark, and Spirit seem to be in top form.

>>2768158
>Paranormal Sense and Shadow Thread.
>Roll 6- Could have been better.

You hadn't noticed, but your clothes didn't make the trip over.. You're kind of relieved in a way, but also naked, so you spin yourself an old fashioned baggy shadow robe.. Just like those ol' hobo hedge mages who live in barrels wear! The next thing you do is view the world through your paranormal senses.. Nothing, uhmn..
It all looks the same.

>>2768162
>Gather samples and investigate the landscape
>Roll 94- Good, GOOD.

Feeling a little more confident you start exploring. The world seems 'defined', it's just very, very, very, dark. This doesn't feel like the mere absence of light, this is actual, real, (in your unique case) tangible darkness. It's not cold, it doesn't feel 'open', it's almost like the world and it's blackness hugs you.
You can see in the distance a naked figure taking shelter under a pale tree; the have a lantern that burns a white defined light that shows and nothing more. The light seems to attract little dancing pale butterflies- their white bodies making them look two dimensional in this inorganic light.

You travel through the white grass, white ferns, stumbling over the white roots- everything has a tendency to meld together in this black and white realm with the only difference in the stark whites is the even harsher blacks.. Very little Grey and it especially gets worse the closer you come to the light.
The stranger is small and frail compared to you, they have a large white flower on their.. less.. than white hair. You're having colour troubles. It's.. A Flower Demon! He runs over to you and holds you, pulling off when she's sure you're real and sliding his hands down to grasp your hands. "We have to get you out of here, you've been missing for days. Gardener said he had dropped you in a Tree and we've been looking ever since-"

>>2768238
>Then Try to pray to Nyx?
>Roll 85- Yes, you can talk to Nyx.

"Y-you... You want to talk to Nyx? I..I don't know, no.. No, it should be fine.." The Flower Demon second guesses himself, but he's determined to help you, and still holding your hand he grabs his staff with the lantern and the two of you head off into the dark. "This isn't really Nyx's realm, but only because it's so small; this is more like a space between, a crack. Unseelie courts are like crawl spaces." You hear a voice that speaks in an accent you've simultaneously never heard in your life, but also possess a great deal of nostalgia over.
"A distasteful statement.. I'd like to think of them as.. Cozy little gardens. The Flower Demon doesn't know how to react, paranormal creatures are always walking on egg shells when it comes to divine beings, but Nyx is patient and kind.
"Hullo little Imp, what have you brough- A Human~? How delightful. You haven't been lead to any court or seemingly hallowed space, her hands slip out from underneath you and grasp your body gently- she wears the world around her like a hooded robe and it's difficult to discern where the vegetation ends and her long, thick, braid of hair worn around her neck like a noose begins.
"Precious little Human.. Capable of seeing true Darkness, unlike the other races.. Oh.. How I've missed you. Nyx raises you to her cheek and comforts you.
"Hemera may have stolen you from me, but I know better.. You'll always remember your true Mother. The Flower Demon feels a bit like a third wheel, but Nyx gives him a little pet with her pinky. The Demon is immediately calmed.

Nyx, uh.. Nyx has a soft Dublin/Irish Accent, but I don't know how to communicate that since she speaks so softly and kindly.

You don't feel intimidated or overwhelmed by Nyx, indeed, if anything; you've only ever been this comfortable perhaps once and it was while you were deep, down, in the dark of The Pit with the Monk so long ago.
Maybe there is some credence to what Nyx says, but either way she seems very nice and isn't trying to turn you into a Dinosaur. You hug her cheek and thank her for her kind words, but you'd like to go home- your friends are waiting for you and you're sure their worried.

Nyx is saddened, but not disappointed. She understands you can't stay here forever and to keep you here would deny you of the qualities she loves and admires of your race, "As much as I relish to hold you close and remind you of what should be.. You must be brought back into the light, lest you obsession with the dark in favor of familiar apathy. Nyx plants a full bodied smooch onto you with her soft black lips and then begins leaning upward to lift you back up into the bright world above... But... Just a few moments more.. Could we talk?

"Of course. Anything for you, my dear." Nyx sits (?) back down and rests you on her collar as she reclines and immerses herself into the void.

>>2768359

>What does she know about changelings? Are they her children too? Why is their blood black?
"They are of Chernebog and his Black Waters.. He walked out of The Pit b'efore me and stole my designs. Poor imitations bent from squid & mucous. Him and Dagon the Fish are the two I will not forgive. I will drag them down if it comes to it. Nyx crinkles her face, making little hushed huffy 'doooohhh' and 'oooofs'.

>Does she have a favorite thing?
"Humans~ I used to talk to all my Children, but Hemera stole you.. And the wee people can't see me anymore.. They can't hear me in the dark.

>How does she feel about Aliens?
"Hah. They're to be pitied: they've refined their world to a fine point and whittled away every ounce of character and depth by doing so. They've 'smoothed' their edges out as Apopep & Apophis might say. " Nyx gives you a rather 'blaze' look, rolling her eyes and tsking the side of her cheek.

>What happened to all the humans a long time ago?
This question makes Nyx sad and uncomfortable, "I still wonder what I did wrong myself.

You feel your eyes begin to adjust and Nyx can see it in you, she fears you've spent long enough in her care and raises her arm to 'release' you back into the safety of the physical realm where you belong a long with your little Flower Demon friend.
You sprout out of the dirt somewhere outside Hemlock with all of your things.
