>Welcome back to a Song of Sand and Steel, the Game of Thrones narrative game. Our House is House Blacksand, a new house in the Dornish Marches, who are much despised by their neighbours. Our Lady is Lissara Blacksand, a beautiful femme fatale, who is a dab hand with a spear. We are currently in Yronwood, enjoying a lovely dinner, and are about to speak to Anders Yronwood about how he thinks the military situation is.

"My lord Anders, if I could bend your ear again, except this time it is about the military situation in the Marches. It's hard for me to get news, what with the political situation, and you are the only Lord who has even approached me in a vaguely polite way since my father became Lord."

"I understand. Also, unlike the others in the Marches, we of Yronwood tend not to hold grudges as much. Something to do with most of the trade we have being with Stormlanders, makes you very open-minded. I also acknowledge you are not your father."

Anders pauses, swallows a spoonful of crushed ice, and smiles.
"As for the military situation, I have no problem telling you, for one very simple reason. It benefits me to have you know that I am stronger than you. House Yronwood are second only to the Martells, and thats mainly due to me needing to maintain garrisons all along the Boneway. During the rebellion, my forces were untouched, since Doran doesn't like leaving the main entrance to Dorne unguarded. I outnumber you some 2-1 in levies, though several of those are tied up in the Boneway. The Wyls are weak, about a third of the forces sent to Prince Rhaegar were from them. Their knights haven't been seen outside of their lands for several years, either due to them training more men, or sulking, one of the two. House Blackmore and Manwoody still have large forces though, mainly infantry and archers. House Dayne are greatly weakened, they had sent some of their forces north before the rebellion to aid Arthur, and they stayed with him up there. House Fowler are in a similar situation to myself, except without quite such a large force. Most of their forces are tied up in towers on the Prince's Pass, though they have a strong cavalry core, many anointed Knights."

Pausing to take a drink, Anders sighs.

"As for you, I'd say you are equivalent to the Manwoodys, Blackmonts and Fowlers. Though your men are probably of a better quality than Fowlers non-cavalry, being rebellion veterans."

Glancing around, you see Elia following Lady Ynys out of the hall. She seems to be talking animatedly with her, Lord Ryon sitting at the top table still.

I get that the yronwoods are the most powerful local lords but I'm not keen on staying here much longer than necessary.
There will be less for us to gain here than anywhere else unless we plan on bending to them.

"Excuse me My lord, I need to see where my daughter is going."

Hurrying out of the hall, you see Lady Ynys walking towards a spiral staircase, Elia next to her. As you approach, Lady Ynys turns and smiles at you.

"Good evening, Lady Blacksand. How was your conversation with my father? The two of you must have been speaking for a while for it to take up two whole courses."

"I was just curious as to where you are going with my daughter. After all, she is 4."

Elia grabs hold of your hand, and pulls on it, leaning towards the staircase.
"Ynys was gonna take me to Lady Yronwood. She's tired, and she can't come down."

"My mother is quite pregnant, and that my father insisted she not strain herself. She agreed to it, but gets rather lonely. I thought meeting someone who wasn't from Yronwood would be good for her. You can join us, shes only upstairs."

Elia tries to run up the stairs, but by holding onto her hand, you slow her down. Following slowly, you go up the stairs, and into a corridor, very similar to the one your rooms are in. Ynys opens a door about half way down, and you hear a tired voice come through.

"Ynys? Is that you?"
"Yes mother, and we have guests. Lady Blacksand and her duaghter."
"Oh. How wonderful, new people. Please come in."

Stepping through, you see a curtained bed, with a servant kneeling next to it, over a bowl containing water with small slivers of ice floating in it. Ynys pulls the curtain across, and you see a lady lying in the bed, propped up against several pillows. Her dark hair is plastered to her face, and her olive skin seems pale and drawn. The servant reaches across and dabs a cloth soaked in the ice-water on her brow. She smiles, and touches her belly, which is heavily pregnant.

"I am Lady Miranna, I apologise for not meeting you sooner, but it has been a hard pregnancy. I will have to firm with Anders and say no more children. You have several children as well don't you? And so young, it must have been scary for you."

Elia moves to the edge of the bed, and peers over, gazing at Miranna's belly in surprise. Lady Miranna gasps slightly, and then reaches out and pats Elias hair.

"You must be Lady Blacksand's daughter? I can see the likeness, though her eyes look like a stormlanders, no?"

"My husband is from House Penrose. We have 3 children, Elia, and the twins."

Lady Miranna laughs gently, wincing as she does.

"Twins, at your age? I don't envy you. Cletus was a large child, but I can't imagine twins..." She winces again, and turns to Ynys.

"Ynys, could you be a dear and fetch me some watered summerwine? I've only drunk water all day."

Ynys curtises, and heads out, leaving you alone.

"Lady Miranna, how is living at Yronwood? I've liven in Storm's End for a while, before the rebellion, but this seems... nicer."

"Well, its certainly different to Blackmont, I'll tell you that. Blackmont straddles the Torrentine, but the land is rather mountainous and rocky. Here, I think is the closest to perfect you can find in Dorne, outside of the Water Gardens. Anders enjoys his wealth, and his father did as well, so uit's far more comfortable than the more puritan lord's halls I've visited in the Crownlands and the Weaterlands. I've never seen Storms End, but if the stories are true, it's not a castle I'd call welcoming."

Miranna smiles weakly, before patting Elia's head again.
"And you are traveling with your mother? How has my husbands lands seem to you, little one?"

Elia remains quiet for a bit, till you nudge her with your leg, and she mutters "S'nice."

"Nice? Well, I'm sure Lord Yronwood will be delighted to hear you approve." Miranna opens her mouth to speak again, before falling back, breathing hard. The servant hurries to the bedside, and mops her brow again. Lady Ynys opens the door behind you, carrying a small goblet, and when you turn back to look at Miranna, she seems to be asleep. Ynys sighs, and places the wine on a small table.

"I'm sorry, she's very exhausted these days. Visit again, once the baby has been had. She'll be in far better spirits then, and able to talk to you for longer."

Ynys gently ushers you towards the door, before leading you to your's and Elia's rooms. Elia is yawning, and her head is lolling as you walk.

Picking up Elia, you wave Ynys away, but not before she smiles, and opens the door to Elia's room for you. Elia is murmuring under her breath, as you lay her down on the bed, and undress her, changing her into a white bed-dress on the bed. As you do so, Elia stirs, and her eyes open as she looks at you.

"Mama, why was Lady Yronwood all fat like that?"

Pausing, you look at her, and your mind races trying to think of how to answer

"Elia, it's not very polite to call Lady Miranna fat, she is pregnant with a baby. Now, get read...."
Looking down, you can see Elia has already fallen asleep. Tucking her in, you walk slowly out, and close the door. Ynys is still standing outside, and she smiles at you.

"That was.... humbling. I'm not sure I'll be ready for being a mother. Especially after seeing how my mother is struggling. But if I can have something like what I just saw, it would be worth it."

Unsure what to say, you murmur thanks and enter your room, feeling the exhaustion of the day catching up with you, as you prepare to go to sleep. As you drift off, you wonder what impression you left...

----

The next morning, you are woken by Elia jumping on your bed.
"Mama, mama, Lady Ynys just said I could have this! She said her Daddy was giving us presents!"
In her hands, you can see a small wooden knife, similar in design to your stiletto. It is painted, and has a small golden wire worked into the hilt. Elia is pulling on your arm, trying to hurry you to get up.

"Ynys said her daddy had a present for you!"

After dressing, "helped" by Elia dragging your traveling clothes from the folded pile the servants had placed them in, you descend down, and see Lord Anders standing by the exit to the Courtyard, and beyond him, Ser Ascar and the cavalry making ready outside. Lord Anders approaches you, and clasps your shoulder, before kissing you on each cheek.
"My wife apologizes for falling asleep when you spoke with her last night. She wishes you well on your travels, and hopes you enjoy Sunspear."

He reaches into a small pouch at his waist, and hands a small golden ring to you.
"Since we started traditionally, I thought I'd end traditionally, with guest gifts. Your daughter already received hers, and this is yours."

Looking at the ring, you see a golden ring, with small red gems forming a circle in the middle, around a blue gem.
"I hope it fits you, but any jeweler worth their salt should be able to resize it."

The whole Yronwood family sees you off, except Miranna, with Ynys waving at Elia as Elia leans out of the carriage and waving at the small group. Once you are underway, Ser Ascar rides close.

"The Yronwoods are very hospitable my lady, their sept is wondrous. Anyway, the captain is wondering about our route. We could bypass the Jordaynes, and make for the source of the Greenblood, or we can go to the Tor. It would add a day onto our journey, but it might be worth it."

"We'll bypass the Tor. No sense in lengthening our journey."

"Yes my lady." responds Ser Ascar. Heading down, you soon leave House Yronwood lands, and find yourself on the edge of the desert. The road is still well maintained, though the regular watchtowers that were on the Boneway are not present. A few merchant caravans pass by you, heading to Yronwood, and you see a herd of sand steeds riding on the scrub grass next to the road. Elia leans out of the carriage and gasps at them, before pestering you with questions about horses, and when she's going to get her own horse. After rebuffing these questions, she entertains herself playing with her toy dagger, trying to balance it on her finger.

You stop and eat lunch on a small hill, watching as the horses crop grass, and two cavalrymen do trick riding, much to Elia's delight. After a few more hours on the road, you see the hills that are the source of the Scourge, one of the rivers that forms the Greenblood. Alongside it runs a road, with very little traffic. A small docktown sits at the head of it, several rafts clustered at a small pier. A man hurries out of the only two-storey building in the town as you arrive. He bows low, and speaks with Ser Ascar for a few moments, before Ser Ascar rides over.

"This man is trying to offer us rooms in his inn for the evening. He says that ahead of us, bandits try to ambush small camps of people, and that we won't make Godsgrace by nightfall. I think we can handle some bandits, but if you are concerned about the safety of lady Elia, I would recommend taking him up. It would not be too expensive, and easily in the small budget we brought."

"We'll stay in the inn. No sense risking bandits."
The innkeeper seems delighted, and runs back to the town, calling out for a stable boy. Riding into the town, you see a few guards, wearing the golden hand of Allyrion sitting outside the inn, throwing dice. They stand as your party nears, before bowing when they see Ser Ascar and the carriage. The inn has a surprisingly large backyard, with a stable on two sides of it. The innkeeper emerges as the horses are being stabled, saying he has 6 rooms available, and plenty of room in the common room. The cavalrymen begin drawing straws, as Ser Ascar pays the innkeeper for the rooms. The innkeeper bows and scrapes, before leading you through the common room. The common room is fairly empty, other than a party of three in one corner, a younger man with a red surcoat with his back to you, and two men wearing plain mail shirts, eating from dishes. The younger man is laughing at a rather raunchy joke one of the men made, and Ser Ascar glares at them as the innkeeper leads you past into a small private room.

"My lady, we have some stew, and some cool weak cider, if that would be suitable."
Ser Ascar is looking more annoyed at the man, so you quickly say that would be fine, and make sure Elia is seated. Through the small bead curtain separating the private room from the common room, you hear the cavalrymen moving into the common room, and settling down. The innkeeper returns, with 2 pitchers of cider, and a small earthen cup, also filled with cider, which he hands to Elia. She drinks it down, and winces slightly at the taste, but makes no complaint. You have drunk half of it, when you hear a raised voice from the common room.
"Excuse me, why is some woman being served before the future lord of this place? You'd think some people would learn their place!"
You hear the backround noise of the common room stop, and the scraping of chairs on the wooden floor. Ser Ascar has also stood, and has a hand on his sword.

Drawing your spear, you lock eyes with Ser Ascar.
"I want you to de-escalate the situation, and stop that young man being killed by my cavalry."
"Yes my lady. I know exactly how to stop this escalating."
Before you can react, Ser Ascar pulls his gauntlet off and marches through. You then hear his voice clearly ringing out.
"Ser, your insults towards Lady Blacksand are intolerable, and I will not allow you to continue them."
What follows is a loud slap, followed by a shocked silence. Your rest your face in your palm, as the younger man begins to speak.

"You are challenging me to a duel. In my own lands! Impudent cur, I'll have you whipped! Lucan, Yarrack, seize him."
There is silence, before a drawling voice echoes from the door.
"Ser Byrron, the man who has challenged you is a knight, much like yourself. Either you accept, or apologise to the lady you clearly insulted."
There is a heavy silence, before the voice of the younger knight is heard again.
"Very well. I will see you outside, on the river bank, in 10 minutes."

Ser Ascar steps through the bead curtain, looking rather pleased with himself. An older man, with a red surcoat moves in behind him. The older man bows his head, before sighing.
"My lady, I would apologise, but that would undermine the action about to be undertaken. I was meant to keep young Ser Allyrion's mouth under control, but I was checking on my horse. I am Ser Markas, sworn to House Allyrion. And the young man who was apparently rude to you is Ser Byrron Allyrion, the younger son of Lady Delonne, his brother is in Yronwood at the moment, with his wife."

"I have met Ser Ryon, he seemed very polite and the image of kngihthood. As for the skill of the duelists, Ser Ascar is a skilled knight, one who I would trust with my life. Ser Ascar, I wish you good luck, and I ask you not to kill him or wound him too badly, it would rather colour our intended visit of Godsgrace."
"Of course my lady, the sept at Godsgrace is something I've wanted to see, I will not jeopardise my best chance to see it." Ser Ascar responds. "Now, I need to pray before the duel." Standing, Ser Ascar bows, and leaves. Ser Markas sighs again, and stands.

You step outside into the evening sun, your sword and shield held in your hand. Heading towards the riverside, you see a small circle has formed, the cavalrymen applauding and whooping as you approach. As they part, you see the arrogant young knight swinging a long two-handed spear back and forth, his breastplate gleaming in the sun. He smirks as you enter, and raises his spear in a clearly mocking salute. Behind him, the two sellsword-types that were joking about Lady Blacksand in the inn are standing, glaring at you, while the older knight is seated on a horse behind them, watching with a sardonic grin. Pausing, you offer a prayer to the Father and the Warrior, to watch over you, before calling out.
"Ser, will you retract your statements, and apologise to Lady Blacksand?"
"No I will not little hedge knight. And once you are crying on the sand, I'll have you whipped for insulting me!" the arrogant prat responds, before slamming the visor of his helmet down.

Health is small nicks and gashes and doesn't affect your fighting. Injuries reduce damage by your endurance, and can be taken to avoid health loss. However, they reduce your dice rolls by 1. Wounds stop all damage, but you loose a dice for each wound you have. If you have as many wounds as your endurance, you are defeated. If your health reaches 0, you are defeated as well.

You close again, Ser Byrron sweeping his spear towards your legs, flicking dust up towards your eyes. Furious, you call upon your sense of right and wrong. How dare this arrogant fool try to blind you, does he not know honour, dignity? You try to interpose your shield, but it slips past, but grates off your armour, doing nothing. You slash towards the gap in his armour, but he turns, and you catch his arm instead, cutting off the top layer of cloth of his clothing, and leaving a long red slash on his arm. Glaring at you, Ser Byrron close in again, spinning his spear over his head.

"May the Seven spit on you hedge knight!"
He then stands, and spits on the ground.
"I do not admit defeat to worthless wanderers who serve as lapdogs to murderers whelps!"

Ser Byrron lowers his spear and charges, lunging towards you. You step to the side, allowing the spear to scrape off your armour, as you slam your pommel onto the top of his helmet. You turn, and watch as Ser Byrron topples like a felled tree. Cheers break out among the cavalrymen, as the two retainers step forward, hands upheld as they drag Ser Byrron out of the circle. The cavalrymen surround you, clapping you on the shoulders, and chanting your name, before they hoist you onto their shoulders and carry you back towards the inn, making you grateful for your helmet as you bang your head on the mantle.

--------

You are sitting with Elia upstairs, when you hear a loud cheer go up, followed by the sound of "ASCAR, ASCAR, ASCAR!" Glancing out the window, you see your cavalrymen carrying Ser Ascar back to the inn, as Ser Markas shakes his head, looking at a fallen Ser Byrron, who is having his armour removed by his retainers. Elia looks at you curiously.
"Ser Ascar won?"
"Yes dear, I think he did."
Below you hear a loud clang, and laughter, and calls for ale and wine to be served.

"Elia, stay here, I think the men might be a little excited, and it's no place for a little girl."
Elia pouts, but stays on the bed, waving her toy dagger around. Heading downstairs, you enter to a toast being raised to Ser Ascar, who is seated in the middle of the room, with a goblet of wine in his hand. You are spotted, and another cheer goes up, and a toast to your honour is offered, while a chair is placed in the middle of the room next to Ser Ascar. Grabbing one of the cavalrymen, you ask him to go and keep an eye on Elia, before walking over to the chair.
"Ser Ascar, I gather you won the duel. Congratulations. I feel far safer knowing such skilled warriors guard me."
Another cheer goes up, and you see the innkeeper looking a cross between terrified and happy, as more and more drinks are drunk in honour of the defeat of the son of his overlady. Smiling, you step outside, and see one of the retainers hauling a bucket of water up out of the well, while Ser Markas is binding cloth around the chest and arm of Ser Byrron. the retainer bows to you, and speaks in an Essosi accent.
"Lady, the young ser will be fine, he simply needs a few weeks bed-rest. It might even do him good." He bows again, and carries the bucket over, before chucking it onto Ser Byrron, who stirs feebly, before groaning. Ser Markas sighs, and lifts the limp body onto his shoulders, and carries the unconscious knight into the inn, avoiding the common room.

Re-entering the common room, you see Ser Ascar has been moved to a table, and a large platter of stew and bread has been put in front of him, while his goblet is being topped up. Most are sitting now, and the cavalry are simply chatting loudly. Another toast is raised as you enter, and the cavalrymen stand, but there appears to be no resuming of the cheering.

lost track of time in the gym. My bad

The next morning, you head off from the inn, the cavalry still in high spirits. As you head out, you see Ser Markas carrying the still limp body of Ser Byrron towards the pier, while the two retainers lead 4 horses behind them. The road is winding, following the route of the river through low mountains, at least compared to the Red Mountains. This results in several blind turns, and Ser Ascar orders 5 of the cavalry to ride ahead of the main group as scouts. However, they do not raise any alarms, and the morning passes fairly peacefully, the mountains providing a decent amount of shade from the Dornish sun, and the sound of the river birds filling the air. You see several rafts moving up and down the Scourge, and when you stop for lunch at a small beach, a few of them pull alongside, and offer wine, fresh fruit and honey which they are transporting in trade. Ser Ascar trades for a blood-orange for Elia and you, which the trader says came from the surplus of the Water Gardens, and Elia giggles as you bite into the rich fruit and squirt juice onto your face. As you head onwards, you ponder why Ser Ascar had chosen to duel Ser Byrron, rather than actually de-escalate the situation, as you had asked...

"Ser Ascar!" you call from the carriage, "A word, if you would?"
Ser Ascar rides over, and, leaning down slightly, looks into the carriage.
"Yes, my lady?"
"If you don't mind me asking, why did you challenge Ser Byrron to a duel instead of explaining who I was and the situation first? Not that I'm complaining, but it seemed... rather immediate."
Ser Ascar looks rather embarrassed, before drumming his fingers on his sword hilt, and glancing around.
"I was reminded of a story my grandmother told me. It seemed very similar, and I thought I'd better act as the knight in that story did, not allowing it escalate."
"What story? Whose your grandmother anyway?"
"Oh, no-one important. She was a puppeteer at a tourney, and when she was young a handsome young knight protected her from a rather arrogant lord. It ended badly, but Ser Byrron didn't seem like a royal prince, so I thought I could get away with it."
"Well, next time, maybe let me know before you challenge someone to a duel? I might want to do it first."
Ser Ascar laughs, and nods his head.
"I'll remember that next time, my Lady."

The journey continues, and late in the afternoon, you see the Scourge flowing into another river, and a castle with a large domed building next to it, encircled by a long shell wall. Ser Ascar calls out to you from his horse.
"Godsgrace, and the sept! I've wanted to see it since I've heard of it!"
Coming from the gate of Godsgrace, a party of cavalry, led by two knights are riding towards you, the golden hand of Allyrion clear on their shields.

You make no attempt to stop, and soon your party is closing with the Allyrion party. The knights signal a halt, and one of them, a salt dornishman, rides close to the carriage, watched intently by Ser Ascar.
"Lady Blacksand, I am Ser Serion Dalt, in service to Lady Delonne Allyrion. My lady would like to speak with you. My men are here to escort you to Godsgrace."
Ser Serion looks dour, and he is not looking directly at you, his eyes fixed on a point behind you. Before you can answer, he turns his horse, and rides away, his men filtering between yours and merging with your party. Ser Serion and the other knight lead the party, and begin leading you towards Godsgrace. As you ride through the entrance, you find yourself in a large garden, with a long paved path heading to the main keep. Elia leans out of the carriage, and stares in wonder at all the different flowers and plants that fill the garden. You even see several brightly coloured birds moving between the branches. Ser Serion dismounts, and walks back towards the carriage.
"Lady Blacksand, Lady Delonne awaits you in the path of fountains. I will show you and your daughter. Ser Miltar will show your men where to stable their horses."

"Come along Elia, Lady Delonne wants to speak to us." you say, taking her hand and helping her down from the carriage. Ser Serion leads the two of you down a long pathway with tall trees on the side, Elia staying close to you, but staring around her in awe. Ser Serion reaches a turning, stops and bows, gesturing for you to continue. Stepping around, you see a path flanked by two long channels of water, with small jets of water rising out of them. About 50 paces down, two lounges are opposite each other, a woman who is about 40, with dark hair bound in a tight plait is reclining, while a boy, some 5 years younger than you sits on a small stool, peeling grapes with a small knife, and placing them in a bowl on a small table. As you approach, the Lady pulls herself up slightly, and nods as you draw near. She turns to the boy, and waves for him to stop.
"Daemon, please take young Lady Blacksand to feed the paraquets. I am sure she would enjoy that. Lady Blacksand, please sit. We have much to discuss."

The boy stands, picks up the small bowl, and crouches down in front of Elia.
"Do you want to help me feed the little colourful birds? I've taught them to say my name. We could teach them to say yours!"
Elia looks up at you with pleading eyes, and when you nod, she nods rapidly to the boy, before following him into the garden. The lady gestures again, and you sit. She swings her legs forward, so she is sitting upright, and gestures in the direction Elia and Daemon went.
"A lovely boy. My sons Ryon's bastard. Before he was married of course. This may be Dorne, but the Gods see everywhere. He's going to Sunspear soon, to squire for prince Oberyn, given how much he takes after his grandfather."
She sighs, and looks at you.
"I do not approve of what your sworn sword did to my youngest son. I care not for why it happened, I do not allow duels on my land without my permission. Your sworn sword did not know this, so I will not call for his head. However, I will expect his apology."

"My lady, I am afraid you might not have heard the whole story. I should explain, due to my family's less than loved reputation in the Marches, the soldiers who serve my house are very protective of me. Your son complained that "Some Woman" was being served before him in the inn at the source of the Scourge. I cannot say for certain, but I think they might have attacked him, if he had continued, and Ser Ascar had not challenged him."

Lady Delonne looks at you for a long moment, before steepling her fingers. Her two middle fingers tap together, and a small twitch appears in her eyelid. Then she lays her hands down on her lap, blinks a few times, and fixes you with a firm stare.
"Well, then I will write a letter of thanks to Ser Ascar for his restraint. If I can be honest with you, Lady Blacksand, Byrron is a less than perfect son. He has spent a total of 6 days in Godsgrace this year, and none of them in the Sept. Thanks to your man, he will spend the next 3 weeks there, according to the Septon who is caring for him there."
"Ser Ascar will be thrilled he helped bring a young man closer to the Seven" you say with a smile. Lay Delonne fixes you with a cold look.
"It should not have taken this for my youngest son to enter a Sept. I trust your children are being schooled in the ways of the Seven?"

"I confess, Lady Allyrion, that my father was not a pious man. He was a man of battle and bloodshed, and saw little point to revere all the Seven. Once we have the money to, my Husband and I fully intend to have a wonderful Sept constructed, where my children can learn of the Gods."
Lady Delonne nods curtly.
"My Husband is similar. He only has time for family, fighting and the hunt. Though he does attend services regularly, I think it is simply to please me, more than a concern for his soul. But that is a sign of our love. When your husband is willing to do things you want to but he does not for your happiness, you know that your marriage will be blessed by the Seven."
Thinking about the normal look of surprise on Carth's face when you ambush him with sex, you realise you probably fit those criteria. However, you think better on mentioning this example to Lady Delonne. She stands, and offers an arm to you, and begins to lead you down the way Daemon and Elia went.

"Anyway, I am grateful for this talk. There is a riverboat leaving tomorrow to transport Daemon to Sunspear, and passage on it would be far quicker than the road. You would have to leave your cavalry here, there is not room to transport 20 soldiers, but I assure you my husband will not be one to allow them to go idle in this time."

"Thank you, My lady, but the trip back, with my young daughter concerns me. I would prefer to travel overland, with our escort."
"As you will. Daemon and the girl should be around here."

Turning a corner, you see Elia with a small green bird sitting on her finger, as she feeds it a grape with her other hand. Daemon is letting several eating from a small pile in his open palm, and making whistling sounds. Lady Delonne stops moving, and watches for a few moments.
"It's moments like this I think I'll miss. He's so keen to become a knight, to fight, that I doubt I'll see him feed birds again." Her eyes have misted up, and she sniffs loudly, before walking forward.
"Daemon, Young Lady Blacksand, its going to be time to eat soon. Hurry inside and wash."
Daemon nods, and wipes his hand on a small stone bowl, which the birds flock to. Elia waves at the bird that was on her finger, before turning and hugging Lady Delonne's legs.
"You've got a lovely garden, Lady Allyron. I love the birds!"
Lady Delonne looks unsure what to do for a moment, before patting Elia's hair, and smiling unsurely.
"Thank you Lady Blacksand. I am very proud of it."
"My names Elia. Mama's Lady Blacksand." Elia replies.
"Thank you, Elia. I'm Delonne. Now, shall we go and eat?"

At the evening meal, you meet Lord Allyrion, a tall man with a barrel-chest, and a booming voice. He tells you he was just a hedge knight, who fought at a tournament at Godsgrace, when he was a young man. Winning the joust, thanks to his opponent having "accidentally" drunk strongwine instead of watered Dornish Red, he crowned the young Lady Delonne queen of Love and Beauty, and asked for her hand the next day. Lady Delonne blushes when he says this, and adds that her father insisted he bring a Septon from the Sept of Baelor to marry them.
"And two months later, I boxed the ears of that young Jordayne, and showed your father the Septon! True he'd only just gained his robes, but he was trained there!"

Elia spends the meal trying to talk to you about the birds Daemon showed her, and trying to imitate the bird whistle he did. You can see Ser Markas talking with Ser Ascar at one of the lower tables, and there is no sign of Ser Byrron. Lord and Lady Allyrion are very glad to here Ryon is well, and the evening goes well. You sleep well, and in the morning, prepare to head out.

Bread and Salt is a first men thing, its very prevalent in the North, Vale and Riverlands. It's acknowledged everywhere, but not followed as a ceremony by most southern lords. Yronwood was doing it due to the lousy relationship you have with the Marcher Lords, trying to assure you he wasn't going to try anything.

>>

>>
>>2841567
It’s your game, but in the books guest right also a respected tradition in the andal faith and the south in general.
>>
>>2842833
I was under the impression that Bread and Salt being given, with those being the exact foods, was a first man thing, with guest rights and hospitality being a thing in the south, but not the full on giving of bread and salt.

Its a respected right, but the full ritual isn't really carried out.
>>
>>2842842
The bread and salt is just an expression and the “ritual” in the tv show was done due to the tense situation between the Stark and the Freys. Any food or drink counts if given under understanding that you are a guest.
>>
>>2842879
Yeah thats my point. Bread and Salt is the First Men version of guest rights, Andal culture is that it is expected if you invite someone in.

Upon leaving Godsgrace, you see Ser Ascar seems in far better spirits. He apparently went to the Sept, while you were speaking with Lady Delonne, and returned in high spirits. Elia continues to describe in detail each of the birds she fed with Daemon, happily babbling most of the journey away. As you travel down the road, still next to the Greenblood, the mountains become hills, then plains, passing small villages sitting on the Greenblood, surrounded by fields, with channels feeding water from the Greenblood into the vineyards and fields. And looming over all of this, visible on the horizon is Sunspear, surrounded by the Shadow city, golden domes shining in the sun, the Winding Walls standing tall. The sun is getting low as you travel closer, you begin coming closer to a small crowd waiting to get through the gate. Your cavalry press closer, and push through the crowd, making your way to the gate, as the smallfolk move to side, allowing you passage. The guards on the gate step forward, and Ser Ascar calls out your name. The guards step back, and wave you through, before returning to checking the business of the smallfolk, who crowded in behind you carriage, trying to make use of the hole your party created. The crowds are thick, and even your cavalry are struggling to make way for you to travel.

As your party tries to move through the crowds, you are actually moving slower and slower. Realising that if this continues you'll never reach Sunspear before dark, you claber out of the carriage, and move to the front, where Ser Ascar's squire has been driving the carriage. Standing, you clear your throat, and shout over the heads of the crowd.

"Get out of the way! Make clear the path or be ridden down! Ser Ascar, ride on!"

Your voice echoes clearly over the crowd, and heads turn, as Ser Ascar spurs his horse forward. Seeing the horsemen pushing through, people begin shuffling backwards, and scattering before your party. Even with this, it takes you nearly an hour to travel into the second set of walls, and half an hour more to reach the gates of Sunspear, where the guards are preparing to close the gates as you approach. After asking your name, the guards let you through, and you ride into the Old Palace. Inside, you see a well dressed servant, bearing the colours of House Martell, directing grooms and stablehands towards your party, and bowing low as you and Elia step out.
"Welcome to Sunspear my lady. Prince Doran is unable to greet you, as he is visiting Lemonwood, but has ordered rooms to be prepared in the Spear Tower, and will meet you once he returns. Food will be sent to your rooms, and provisions have been made for your escort."

As your horses are led away to the stables, you, Ser Ascar and Elia follow the servant up a tall tower, and are shown to a set of rooms next to each other, before being left to settle in. As you fall asleep, you think over what you need to do, and what you can do in Sunspear while you are here.

Leaving Elia with Ser Ascar, you take a small escort of cavalrymen and head into the Shadow city. The Shadow city is more of a large town, but vast amounts of hovels, small buildings, and bazaars create a veritable maze of alleys and paths. You head out of the Old Palace, and from the higher ground, you can see 3 clear areas in the Shadow city. The first is a brightly coloured array of cloth roofs, a riot of colours obscuring the buildings beneath, the large bazaars of the Shadow City. The next is more orderly, made of stone buildings, and with a small wall surrounding it. Inside are several warehouses, and what look like guild halls. The final contains numerous luxurious buildings, with several painted silk flags flying, showing many banners of minor houses of Dorne and small variations on the major ones.

>Where do you go?

Figuring you'll have time in the afternoon to do business, when most of the urgent business of the merchants has been taken care of, you instead seek to explore the bazaar, a sight of which you haven't seen anywhere else. You walk through covered streets, lit by burning fires cooking spiced food and the occasional ray of sun that slips through a hole in the fabric roof that covers everywhere. Animal cries and the smell of spice and fruit assault your senses, and everywhere you hear different voices calling out, offering wares and services. Three voices in particular catch your ear, over the calls about food and cloth.

"Finest Steel in Dorne! Quohoric trained smith, taught by the Blood Mages themselves! Do you need a new tourney helm, or a blade to strike down any foe? Or maybe something more intricate, a ring to hide poison, or a knife that cannot be seen!"

"Animals, rare beasts and monsters from Sothoryos, Slaver's Bay, and Yiti! See the marvels of the world, all expertly trained, ready to serve you and your fancy! Monkeys, parrots, tattooed lizards!! "

"Relics, ancient relics, from Valyria, Lorath, and Westeros. Unique, true marvels of a bygone age! Fragments of dragon egg, the tooth of Balerion, stolen by the Night Haunt himself from the throne room of Kings Landing!"

Approaching the steel merchants shop, you see laid out on-top a small table a variety of daggers and jewelry, while hanging behind him is several blades, mainly curved and Essosi in style. There is a three pronged spear, in an usual style as well. Upon you approaching the merchant bows, and scuttles around to in front of the stall, holding up various rings and daggers.
"Greetings my lady, may I interest you in some jewelry, the latest style in Tyrosh, amethyst and silver. Or maybe a valyrian steel dagger, reforged by the Blood magics of Qohor!"
The merchant reaches out and tries to grab your hand to put the ring on your fingers, before being shoved back by your escort. He holds his hands up apologetically, and offers another ring, flipping up the top, showing a hidden cavity.
"A thousand apologies, noble lady, maybe this is more your desire. A ring that can hide anything, hardly detectable, perfect for, heheh unwanted guests or hosts."

As the merchant prattles on, you pick up one of the daggers, and inspect it.
"Yes, a valyrian steel dagger, owned by the son of the Tyrant of Tyrosh, lost gambling, now here.."
The merchant reaches out for the dagger, but you hold up a hand and run a finger down the edge to test the sharpness. It feels wickedly sharp, but when you pull your finger away, it is coated with a thin film of oil. The merchant pales as you raise your finger, and your escort close in, surrounding the stall, hiding the two of you.

"My lady, I would never try to cheat you, some scoundrel sold me these claiming they were valyrian, and I have to make money my poor daughter will be sold into slavery if I don't pay off my damn cousins gambling debts, and her mother died 2 years ago, and mmhmhmh.."
One of your guards places a hand over the mans mouth as you glare at the merchant. Once the hand is removed, the merchant speaks in a low voice.
"My lady, I'll give you the Tyroshi jewelry if you don't mention this now, and allow me to continue selling."

Your guards look at you, with an entertained look in their eyes.

Holding your hand out, you take the jewelry, and slip it into a pocket. Turning away from the table, you cry out.
"Cheat! How dare you fake these daggers?! And to me, Lady Blacksand of Shadowpeak!"

Turning, you march away, leaving the merchant gaping after you. Your guard follow, grinning from ear to ear. You flounce over to the animal trainer, and upon seeing you, he bows low.
"Greetings, Lady Blacksand. May I assure you, we are not all cheats here, and I trade in the hardest thing to fake, trained animals!"
With a flourish, he gestures behind himself, to an array of cages, containing different beasts. He points to them in turn, describing his wares.
"A Shadowcat kitten, caught in the mountains north of here, if cared for, it will be the perfect cross between a guard dog and a house pet! A walking lizard, from Sothoryos, vicious fighters, but these have been trained to recognise friends, with a hand signal and codeword. A little Valyrian, beautiful creatures, very intelligent, can be trained to do all sorts of tricks, I call this one Aegon. A Basilisk, this one will reach the size of large dog probably, and can be trained as easily, " The man pauses, before lifting up a wooden box, with a sliding lid. He slowly slides it back, revealing a glass lid beneath, and a bright green insect, with a curved tail. "This one, not so tamed. But deadly. A manticore, beautiful as a sunset, deadly as a dragon!"

Your guards look wary, but the man quickly slides the lid back over, and places it back beneath his table.
"So, my lady, do you want to know anything more about them? Or are you ready to make a decision?"

The Trainer nods, and reaches down, opening the Shadowcats cage, and lifting the kitten out by the scruff of its neck, before cradling it in his arms.
"This little fellow's mother was killed by Lord Jordayne on a hunt. I was visiting, and had been invited to help track the beast. When I saw this fellow, I knew I could do something. He's playful, but I've taught him to watch his claws, and he's used to being picked up and manhandled. Just as long as you don't stress him, you'll be fine."
Putting the kitten back, he opens the walking lizards cage, who scrambles up onto the table. It's about 3 foot long, and its front claws look very sharp. It is black and blue, with a zigzag pattern covering its back. It tilts it's head, and flicks its tongue out, tasting the air.
"A Sothos trader sold me this guys eggs. Prince Oberyn purchased his two brothers as hunting animals, they can run as fast as a galloping horse over short distances. I'll show the symbol to make them acknowledge you as a friend, and the keyword to make them attack."
As the lizard hops back down into its cage, the trainer holds out an arm, and the Little Valyrian hops onto his arm, and then jumps onto the table. It holds out a hand to you, and shakes your hand, before kissing your fingertips.
"Lemurs from the Forest of Qohor, very smart, normally shy. This one knows all sorts of tricks, though he's a little light fingered." the trainer says, before holding his hand out. "Aegon!"
The lemur dips its head, before dropping two rings into the trainers hand, which you now realize are missing from your fingers. The trainer points, and as the lemur resumes eating, he leans close.
"Manticores are barely heard of in Westeros. You get stung, you're dead, no maester can save you. Don't release it near anything you care about, but as long as it stings, you'll have killed a certain enemy."

"While they are lovely, I have 3 young children. I'll not risk them, no matter how well trained you say they are. I will, however, purchase that cage of singing birds. My daughter saw some at Godsgrace, and I think they will be perfect."

The trainer shrugs, and takes down a cage containing about 5 small birds, coloured red, blue, yellow, purple, and green. They are chirping happily, and after money has exchanged hands, you leave the animal trainer, looking around. You can visit the relic seller briefly, or you can take a leisurely lunch before heading to the merchants quarter.

You approach the Relic seller's table, who is in the process of waving a long back fang about, in front of a well dressed man wearing a long silken cloak. Upon seeing you, the merchant bows, and directs the man towards a young woman, who begins leaning heavily on the table, talking about dragons teeth, showing a sizeable amount of cleavage. Unlike most of the other sellers, the Relic seller has a small tent behind his table, and he waves for you to step in.
"My lady, I would not offer you fakes, or even bluffs of value to you, after seeing how you dealt with that charlatan. I have no desire to end up like him. If you'll step here, I'll show you the true treasures, not the scraps of dragon-egg shell and teeth from lizard-lions."
He brings out a small chest, and opens three locks on it, revealing a large scroll, with three wax seals, a diadem of a silver metal, studded with rubies, and a large ring in the shape of a rearing dragon, clutching a ruby. He also brings out a long wrapped item, revealing a longbow made of a very pale white wood.

"These are true relics, of the Targaryeans. The Royal Crown and Ring of The Stepstones, forged for Daemon Targaryean when he conquered them. He threw this crown to his brother when he lost to the Triarchy. This is the bow of Brynden Rivers, purchased from the Nights Watch when they were desperate for money, and now in my hands. And this, I believe it to be the last will and testament of Rhaegar Targaryean."

The Scroll is made of good quality paper, with three seals placed upon it. They are made of black wax, with three different seals, a Circled Chain, a Seven Pointed Star, and a Three-Headed Dragon. The longbow is very pale, paler than any wood you've seen, and looks well used, but still has the stiffness of a new bow. The ring and crown are made of a shiny, silvery metal, and the rubies are clear and well shaped.

Malroy had been busted down to a lower tier house in the Crownlands, you are the Lady of a major house in Dorne. Lord Yronwood has 6, Prince Doran has 7, Oberyn has 6, it is the right amount for you.

When your father became a lord, and paid for tutors to teach you, you had loved the stories of the Dance of the Dragons, and the Blackfyre Rebellions. Two of these relics definitely are part of the Dance, the coat of arms Daemon Targaryen used had indeed been a Rearing Dragon, holding an island, which matches the ring. The Crown was golden however, but the ring was Valyrian Steel. The ring and the crown seem to be made of the same material. As for the scroll, you know the Targaryean seal was always made with red wax. There is onyl one house that would use a three headed dragon and not use red wax. House Blackfyre.

6- Lord of a house, officer of the Faith, Archmaester, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, heir to a great house

Erghh Green Ronin are annoying, putting hard lines in for what ranks status corresponds to, and then putting a tiny table after the end of the Status section in House creation. From now on, Status is 4. It doesn't matter too much, since the first status roll was nearly max anyway.

I wouldn't call our house "great" either. That distinction seems to fall to the Hightowers, Boltons, Velaryons, Yronwoods, that sort of tier. Honestly I'd see our House as a Minor House at best, as the table says. House is still young with meager holdings and little to no history, no reason to put the House at such a high level or classification, it ruins the immersion of the game.

11, 10, 11 vs TN9 (1 degree of success)

Looking closely at the ring and crown, the rubies do indeed look real, and the metal appears to be Valyrian Steel. The bow has the signs of multiple horn tips being swapped in, replacing worn down ones, but the wood looks nearly new, pale and stiff. The scroll looks older than the will of Rhaeger would be, though the two seals of the Citadel and the High Septon are indeed correct, and you cannot see any flaws in the wax that might suggest forgery. You remember Carth checking seals from Sunspear, and listening to him talk about how to check for flaws, though you mainly remember dragging him back into bed while he was distracted for a moment. You cannot tell if the relics are relics, but two are Valyrian Steel, one has legitimate seals of the Faith and the Citadel, and the other looks like a bow that has not decayed with age.

Yeah and both of those sound ridiculous to me. Yronwood should have a larger army and far more bannermen than just the Drinkwaters, not just the canon named Houses exist. While the blurb in the Lands section is frankly absurd and completely disregardable when they call a domain only akin to 3 leagues elsewhere in the book. The book itself doesn't lend itself well to the pure scale of Westeros. I think it has been best described to me as a game for Minor Houses with no balanced end game for Houses that ascend beyond that. I'd call the House minor and would stand by that relatively firmly.

I'm ruling it as you are on the upper end of the Marcher Lords, with only Yronwood, Allyrion, Jordayne, and Fowler being stronger than you in the Dornish vassal houses, (with Fowler being there mainly thanks to owning the Princes Pass, so has a monopoly on Reach Trade). House Dayne would be greater than you if they hadn't just lost the entire generation bar the lord. Thats mainly why you are hated, because you have become such a regional power.

"I will take the crown and the bow. The scroll is interesting, but of no real value, while the crown is more valuable than the ring."
Taking out your pouch of gold, you hand over most of your spending gold, at which the merchant bows politely, and wraps up the crown and bow in linen wraps, before presenting them to you. You head out of the bazaar, seeking somewhere to eat before you head to the merchant quarter. Blinking as you step out of the covered streets onto the main paved road, you manage to find a nice inn, serving cold meats and fresh bread on the edge of the noble quarter. You have the purchases you've made taken by one of your men back to your rooms, not feeling like carrying a bird cage, a crown, and a longbow around all day. You ponder on the crown. You know it is not the one Daemon wore, since that was gold with circle cut rubies, while this is Valyrian steel, with square cut rubies. Mentally shrugging, you acknowledge that the crown is still valuable, and that the seller probably didn't know it was Valyrian steel, and had no idea about jewels, judging from the price you paid.

After eating, you head towards the merchants quarter. Inside, there are several dozen stone buildings, and many wooden warehouses, storing goods for shipping. You can see the signs of three prominent banks displayed, the Bank of the Bays, the Rogare Bank, and Volantene Imperial Bank.

Wealth is tight in Shadowpeak, especially after paying the debt to House Yronwood. You feel you could allow things to develop naturally, but getting an injection of gold, to help you develop would be helpful. You are uncertain, however, the quality of the various banks, so end up going to the one with the most impressive building, figuring that the most successful bank would surely have the best building, and by being more successful, be more likely to loan money to a new house such as yours.

Stepping into the offices of the Bank of the Bays, you step into what looks closer to a Lysian pleasurehouse you tricked Carth into while on your honeymoon, rather than a bank. A pool filled with flowers is in the centre of the entrance hall, with servants dressed in silks standing holding wax tablets, discussing with several merchants, making small alterations. As you look around, one of the servants approaches you.
"My lady, may I ask if you are here to discuss business, or simply seeking shade from outside?"
"I had hoped to discuss business. I seek an injection of money into my house, in order to develop it further."
Bowing, the servant leads you down a small corridor off the main room, and into a waiting room, with a recliner and a small table, with a bowl of dried fruit and cakes sitting on it. The servant bows, and asks your name, before heading off out of the room. You sit for a few minutes, before a young, feminine looking man walks in. He is slim, with a thin face, and it is only when he speaks you realise he is male, such is his appearance.

"Greetings, Lady Blacksand, I have the honour of being Lysos Irrelion, of the Bank of Bays. Have you heard of our bank? No? Well, we have a long and storied history, stretching back to beyond the Iron Bank, though I will admit, our founding is far less fanciful than theirs. We financed New Valyria, and the Triarchy, though nowadays we find more opportunities in Westeros. Now, you said you were seeking a loan, to develop your lands? Well, I'm afraid that will be quite impossible. The Bank of Bays does not loan money to houses that may not exist in a few months, which given your precarious position in the Dornish Marches, alone and without firm allies, seems possible. I wish there could be some other way, but until you have established yourself and made your lands safe for you to live in, the Bank will not consider investing in you."

Shocked at the blunt refusal, you blink a few times before responding
>Attempt to get him to make a chancy investment, for which you will be "grateful"

"Sir, I feel you may judging my house too harshly. While it is true, that under my father it was only the reputation of his ferocity that kept our house safe from encroachment. However, since I have come to the seat, I have not only destroyed a sizable bandit force, but also added competent knights to the forces possessed by my house, a veteran of Roberts Rebellion, and a skilled duelist. I have spent my traveling to Sunspear mending wounds my father may have caused, and was sent from Yronwood with gifts in hand, and Lady Delonne Allyrion forgave my sworn sworn sword for dueling her youngest son. I think you underestimate us, Master Irrelion, and see us as helpless. House Blacksand is not helpless. We are as resolute as the mace on our banner, and I intend to live in Shadowpeak till the end of my days, and make it so my children can as well."

Lysos pauses, and seems slightly taken aback by your statement. He blinks a few times, and then smiles. He calls for a servant, and after making a few notes on the wax tablet he holds, handing the tablet over, and the servant hurries away. He sits down, and intertwines his fingers, till the servant comes back in, announces
"The principal negotiator is in the Vale, concluding a deal. However, once the contract has been signed, it is believed he will be available."

Lysos smiles, and then turns to you.
"I apologise for leaving you uncertain, Lady Blacksand. Your speech has given the Bank cause to reconsider their position. However, as impassioned as your speech was, we will need to see your lands and holdings in person, so as to assess it, and come to a deal. Our principal negotiator is in the Vale of Arryn at the present time, though I have no doubt he will be delighted to visit Shadowpeak, and assess the quality and security of any funds we might send your way. Being honest, I doubt the Vale agrees with him, and a trip to Dorne would be most welcome. We will communicate by raven with him, and send a raven to Shadowpeak, containing details as when he may arrive."

I guess it depends on the culture but what's the point? Our husband is own personal dildo we love. Besides, having multiple lovers around always gets in the way. Just fuck the servants if hubby isn't around.

Licentious is a wasted flaw if we don't fuck somebody during this trip. QM does us a disservice if he doesn't enforce it sometime.

>>2845312
Sure. Just bang one of the knights in Sunspear whiel wearing a veil or something like that.
>>
>>2845312
Agreed.

I’m not going for the lesbo route - I just want to play the character faithfully.
>>
>>2845336
The thing is, you've been sidestepping alot of the moments it could have come up, and Elia being there has really softened it on this trip. You sent away the only Knight who would have hit on you, and then on this trip, you didn't speak to the handsome young Yronwood, and instead spent it discussing politics with the lord. Basically, you haven't been in situations where it would come up, thanks to your decisions. Watching Ser Ascar fight, for example, might have lead to you coming on to him, but you stayed in the inn.
>>
>>2845344
Well, we were more focused on introducing ourselves to the houses of the east to makes sure no grand alliance will form to completely destroy us. We'll prob do it in Sunspear or on the way back.

He's only posted two times here so I don't know why he says he "wants to play the character faithfully."

I personally wasn’t here for many of those votes, but if this was the case, then I’d ensure that it was manifested some way.

An addict who does not sate their addiction goes through withdrawals - we should be the same with our vice.

If we go for a prolonged period without getting any, then we should become withdrawn, or angry, or something!

Some people have "dynamic IP's" which makes their ip change every so often. He could've been here since the beginning, or maybe he's posting from his phone right now. Either way, he's prob read everything so he at least has an idea of the character.
>>2845356
All pent up from dick withdrawal. QM better not add a C O R R U P T I O N stat.
>>
>>2845356
However, your motivation is Love and your virtue is Devoted. So you are far less likely to jump the bones of anyone for a quick shag. You are looking for a paramour, not a fuck buddy.
>>
>>2845358
I knew I forgot about something. Our Virtue downplays our lust somewhat so we don't jump on every willing cock we see. Just disguise ourselves as a some whore and get it over with.

Lmao did you even read what QM typed. I suppose, we could be one of those women who "just" fuck on the side but it doesn't mean anything to them cuz they only "love" their husband, but I think QM's example makes more sense.

Mostly a joke. Either way, getting a paramour is trouble and a hindrance to our marriage.

Perhaps from a technical standpoint, but RP wise, Lissara is a human and can't help her emotions. Rather, it would take help and awhile to overcome such temptations.

I do too but the other Anons don't agree.
>>
>>2845481
I hate adultery and sexual deviancy irl, but we have to stick to RP. Licentious is our FLAW, part of Lissara's person, it can't just be we have sex a lot with him, that's the regular duty of a husband and wife. It has to be more extreme.
>>
It does not have to be a paramour. A trip to the brothel would be enough.

I'm not necessarily arguing for any method, just that it should happen somehow.

You step out of the bank, blinking at the change in light from the shaded confines of the bank. You gaze around, at the various wagons moving back and forth, from the docks to the warehouses. It is mainly servants or workers here, taking records or transporting goods, but there are a few actual merchants here, overseeing the moving of goods. You see a rosy cheeked merchant inspecting several earthenware jars, commenting on vintage, with a small set of glasses and jugs in front of him on a table. A tall man wearing ill fitting silks is yelling at a handful of men, who are lifting large blocks of dark black stone onto heavy wagons, a rough leather apron tied over his silks. Shaking his head, you see him step forward, push one of the workers away, and begin lifting the stone himself. A tall, thin man is arguing with a small group of men wearing leather aprons, standing in-front of a wagon containing several barrels and wooden crates, the marks of several noble houses, and some sellsword companies on the side of them. You could approach one of these men, maybe they'll have something House Blacksand could use.

As you begin walking towards the merchant, he catches sight of you, and quickly fills two glasses with a golden liquid from one of the jugs. He hurries towards you, snapping at the servants who were handling the jars.

"Quickly fetch a seat for her ladyship, can't you see she is tired from conducting business with those Pentoshi vultures! Quick, quick, pour some of the Arbor Red for her guards, now, My Lady, please I find after business, some Arbor Gold is perfect, not the overly strong flavour of Dorne, and crisp, refreshing, a perfect break from the day."
The merchant offers you one of the glasses, as the servants carry a small barrel and a tray of earthen cups to each of your escort, pouring Arbor Red into the cups, which is happily taken by your guards. The merchant smiles, and pulls out a wooden chair a servant has carried out of one of the warehouses, before waving a small handkerchief over it, and bowing low.

"My lady, I feel sympathy for you, having to negotiate with those coin counters of the Bank of Bays, I have had the misfortune of engaging them before, to start my business, back when I was simply a small former bravo, now purveyor of fine wines to the nobility. The vintage you are drinking now, was laid down 20 years ago, a very good year, and the Arbor wines have always been suitable for drinking for refreshment, despite what the Dornish say about, hmmhmm, "red water". Might I interest your ladyship in purchasing a cask? Something for the husband and you to drink, watching the sun go down?"

We're along the marches, and have direct relations with stormlanders, more likely to buy Arbor Wine there than in most of Dorne.

Cuz we can buy Wine now instead of waiting for him to come. Also, if he doesn't go for it, at least we got Wine.

The choice is between
Looking to enter business with him
Looking for something rarer, maybe as a gift
Making a cheaper purchase because you are now not interested in large trading with him.

Buying two small casks is not the same as him doing mass shipping of wine from Shadowpeak. Its the difference between buying a small piece of gold jewelry, and opening a gold mine.

Yes, but I want Wine now with us, not waiting for a week or two for him to get there, unless he came with us on the return trip which seems ridiculous to me. Also, buying some of his stuff is like, a gesture of good will and makes him happier and more likely to accept deal.

Slowly rotating your glass, you sip your wine, enjoying the crisp, clear flavour. Your guards have finished their wine, and are having their cups refilled by the merchants servants.
"Tell me Master..."
"Master Syran Hotos, of Braavos."
"Master Hotos, while this is a delightful wine, I cannot help but think I could purchase this wine from any seller, Arbor Gold is common in Westeros, why would I lug casks back across Dorne to my home of Shadowpeak, when I could purchase wine there from any passing trader? No, I would like to ask you, how are you with rarer wines, the more extravagant ones?"

Smiling, Syran claps his hand, and whispers in a servants ear, who hurries off. The Servant returns with 3 tiny casks, shorter than even your stiletto, and places them before you, along with 3 small metal cylinders. Syran leans over, and measures a tiny amount of each into the small cylinders. Grinning, he offers the first to you. Sipping, you taste a wine that seems exceptionally sweet and clean, its colour a pale white.

"A Lysian white, made with grapes from the Tyrant of Lys's own garden, carefully chosen before being treaded by only the most beautiful virgins. One of the finest wines produced by Lys."

The next is a deep amber, and upon sipping it, you know you have never tasted a wine like this before. It tastes of honey and flowers, with a fruity aftertaste undercutting it, playing off of each other perfectly.
"Yitish Plum Wine, made of fermented plums, and with crushed peach blossoms added to the fermenting tub, before being mixed with honey, and fermented again. One of the finest wines I've ever tasted, and nearly impossible to get west of Valyria."

As you go to lift the last cup, Master Syran takes it from your hand, and shakes his head.
"I'd not drink that one, my lady unless you seek to ruin your day. This is shade-of-the-evening, from Qarth, and it tastes foul, unless you have drunk it for more than one cup. However, I hope this will demonstrate my abilities and knowledge of wine to your satisfaction. Was it simply to seek something rarer, or do we have more exact business to conduct?"
>>
>>2845778
"Well, Master Hotos, I am the Lady of Shadowpeak, on the coastal border of Dorne and the Stormlands. I would like to have you establish yourself there, instead of here."

Syran Hotos blinks a few times, before leaning forward on the table.
"And why would I do that, my Lady?"

"Master Hotos, you are clearly a canny business man, far more skilled than I, I'm sure you can see all sorts of advantages operating from my holdings would offer you, and you're simply playing... hard to get..." you say, reaching across and resting your hand ontop of his, leaning forward to accentuate your chest. Master Hotos blinks a few times, before clearing his throat and sitting up straighter, and glancing around.
"Well, it is true that the location is far better than Sunspear, not having to pay tolls on the Prince's Pass or the Boneway," he says, his face slowly turning red, "And I would not be worthy of the title of Bravo, if I didn't acknowledge the thrill of being in such a tense place."
"Indeed, and thrills can be so chilling, and stimulating..." you say, moving your hand back, and standing slowly. "But if you feel it's too risky for you, I'm sure to understand."
"Risky! Of course not, it'd bring back the thrill of my youth, no-one will say Syran Hotos, blade of the Canal was scared of some marcher lords!"
"Wonderful. When you visit, I'm sure my husband would be willing to assess a special rate of tax for you, which of course, as such an important part of our community, I will conduct the deal to to you in person."

Swallowing, Syran reaches for his glass of Arbor Gold, before taking a drink, standing and bowing, taking your hand and kissing it.
"My lady, I'd be delighted to see if it is feasible. Anything that allows me to make money, and enjoy beautiful sights of Shadowpeak!"

Heading towards the noble district, you see tall houses, with painted silken banners hanging from poles, and multiple bath houses, pleasure dens, and small gardens. Several different houses are represented, probably by second cousins, though here is the greatest concentration of minor nobles in Dorne. Holding no power or influence, they live here by virtue of their more powerful relatives, seeking any chance to rise in the ranks, and maybe find themselves a place in the truly influential. Sons and daughters, seeking advancement are often here, looking for service in other houses, their only hope of catching the eye of a patron or sponser.

The pleasure dens here are second to none, bar Kings Landing, with brothels, wineshops, and bath houses competing with each other, catering to the custom of the rich clientele that live here. If you seek relaxation, here is the perfect place to go, with almost every desire available, for the right price.

"Of course, my lady. If you will step this way, the warm bath is this way."
The servant leads you down a corridor, into a room with small alcoves in the wall. Female servants help you undress, and carefully fold your clothes placing them in one of the alcoves, before leading you towards an archway, through which you can see a pool of water, about 10 foot square, with warm steam rising from it. Placing your towel on the side, you slip into the water, and as you do so, you hear the water move, on the left-hand side. A tall, striking woman is sitting in the water, her black hair slicked against her head, and her olive skin flushed from the heat. She smiles at seeing you,, and beckons with a finger.

"Forgive me, my lady, but I believe you are mistaken. I am Lady Blacksand, not a servant of the bath-house."
The lady widens her mouth slightly, and stands, approaching you slowly. She is half a head taller than you, and as she comes closer, you can see she is still wearing golden jewelry.
"Oh. When my love told me the daughter of grim Lord Blacksand was coming to swear fealty, I expected you to be... older, more firm. Not a... young girl."
She pulls you into a hug, gently, and sits the tow of you down in the water, running a hand over your hair.
"I am Ellaria, little one, my love is working off some stress with a young lad. You should reprimand your handmaiden, your hair is in a dreadful state. The girl must be blind to leave your beautiful hair this way."
"Lady Ellaria, I have no handmaiden. I came here with an escort and a sworn-sword, who is far from proficient with a hairbrush."
Ellaria sits up, and looks shocked. She glances over your shoulder, and clicks her fingers at two teenagers, one boy, one girl, who have stepped through the archway.
"You two, fetch hair oils and a hairbrush. Now!"
The two hurry away, and Ellaria scoops some water up, and begins letting it fall over your hair. When the two servants return, Ellaria has the boy begin stirring a small pot of oil, while the girl goes to fetch a comb. Ellaria begins to run the brush down your hair, singing a soft song as she does so, her other hand stroking the side of your face. Feeling slightly out of place, you allow this to happen, till Ellaria smiles, and orders the girl to continue brushing your hair, and takes the pot of oil from the boy, and begins working it into your scalp.

"Forgive me, my lady, but I'm not certain who you are. I've never been to Sunspear before, and I've only been the Lady of Shadowpeak for a few weeks."
Ellaria stops singing, and lays a hand on the side of your face.
"Oh, how young you are. I am Ellaria Sand, paramour of Prince Oberyn. My love has been rather frustrated, with his brother asking him to handle ruling Sunspear, so we came here for some relaxation. Now, lie back, and let the oil wash out of your hair, and I'll plait it for you."
Ellaria supports your back and slowly lowers your hair into the water, filling the air with the scent of perfume as the oil leaves your hair and flows onto the water. She lifts you up, and waves the two servants away, before sitting behind you, her fingers moving your hair, plaiting it into a long braid.
"You should get a handmaiden, little one. You can't allow your hair to get this way again, you need a noblewoman who knows what to do, I'll help you find one tomorrow."

Ellaria finishes plaiting your hair, and beings swimming slowly across to the other side when a loud voice is heard.
"Ellaria! Where is she, I desire my love!"
Ellaria glances at you, rolls her eyes, and climbs out of the bath. She walks over to the archway, and snaps loudly.
"Oberyn! Show some calmness, you are not the only person in these baths!"
"I am the only Prince though! So come here!" cries the other voice. You see Ellaria step back, her hands pushing on someone out of sight.
"No, Oberyn, you're drunk. Go to the Palace, and I will see you there."
A loud sigh is heard, and the sound of booted feet walking away on the tiled floor. Ellaria steps inside again, shaking her head, and slips back into the bath.
"My love is a passionate man, but he is not delicate when he drinks. He'd never hurt me, but he forgets himself at times. Remember this, little one, your husband cannot demand sex from you, and nor can your paramour."
"I don't think this would be a problem for me, Carth, my husband is willing but more interested in his books." you say. Ellaria laughs, and moves next to you, kissing you on the cheek.
"Then he is the best man you could have, many girls have had far worse matches. Now, we should wait for Oberyn to leave, then head to the Old Palace. We will miss dinner otherwise, and I want you to meet Oberyn in a more sane state of mind."

>>
>>2846221
Show oberyn was almost perfect, he just wasn't quiet crazy enough. There's a passage where he tells the story of how Elia Martell died, and then tries to guess which hole of Shae Tyrion fucked most recently.
>>
>>2846159
Hope Oberyn gives one of his bastards or cousins or something as a ward to us to try to help keep peace in Dorne and let us into the fold.
>>

Ugh nope. No sand sneks in our household.
>>
the question is how do we feel about the tarygs?
clearly our father was 100 behind big bobby B but if we want the martells to like us that might not stick
I think a stance that somewhat fits the characters and will hopefully satisfy the Martells is we behind big bobby B all the way but are unsure about the succession
>>
>>2847214
I think we are mostly indifferent. Our loyalty lies with whoever is closes to us.
>>
>>2847214
Stannis or bust
>>
>>2847214
Impartial I'd imagine but I'm willing to bet our husband has a more firm stance on it being he is a Stormlander and his family is pretty close to the Baratheons right now.

I wouldn't worry about grand politics as much personally, we're a really minor player in the game all things considered, the House should be first and foremost right now. We'll have to play ball when it comes to having the children marry but that's a ways off.
>>
>>2847214
>>2847214
Too early for powerplays. We have to build up our power first.
>>
>>2847297
as Qm has mentioned we have a military second only to the yronwoods and land almost as big as the martells
our only weakness is our social isolation and im trying to brainstorm ways to deal with that
>>
>>2847371
The second to the Yronwoods is due to me not counting the three garrisons the Fowlers have in the Prince's Pass
>>
>>2847371
There's a huuuuuuuge power gap between us and Martell
>>
>>2847442
Also the Martells can snap their fingers and summon all their banners and I am sure everyone is happy to hop on the smush blacksand bandwagon.

When you return to the Spear Tower, Ellaria promises to make investigations about the various nobles, looking for a suitable girl to be a handmaiden, before heading to the Tower of the Sun. As you ascend the Spear tower, you hear Elia call out to you, and see her and Ser Ascar coming along a bridge linking two of the towers. She runs up to you, hugging you, and smiles up from your near your knees.
"Mama, we saw where Nymeria burned her ships, and where she married Mors Martell, and the Sept, and we brought a monkey, and we took a boat onto the sea, and I caught a fish and..."
"Lady Elia, maybe allow your mother to speak." Ser Ascar says, walking up. Attached to a chain in his hand is a small black and white monkey, which is sitting on his shoulder. He hands the leash to Elia, and the monkey runs down his arm and sits on Elia's shoulders, hugging her head. Elia laughs, and bends under the weight, and the monkey jumps off and sits on the side of the bridge, making small chattering noises. Elia takes a small piece of apple from her pocket, and breaks it in half, feeding it to the monkey, eating the other piece. Ser Ascar moves closer to you, and whispers.
"She seemed insistent, my lady, and the trader was quite charmed by her. I'm fairly certain we got a good deal."
"Well, I hope she isn't too distracted, I've got a small cage of songbirds in the room."
Ser Ascar smiles, and bows his head.
"I'll take her up, and get a servant to help her prepare for dinner."
Ser Ascar takes the monkey and Elia up to her room, as you go to yours, and select a few choice pieces of jewelry to wear. When you emerge, Elia is standing outside, her hair loosely combed, with the monkey sitting next to her, holding her hand. Elia slips her other hand into yours, and the strange party walk down to the hall, where the nobles of the castle are filing in. You and Elia are seated at the top of one of the side tables, near the top table, where Ellaria is sitting next to a tall salt dornishman with dark eyes. On the mans other side is a still blossoming girl, 14 years old, with long black hair, and next to her is Daemon Sand, who waves at Elia as you walk in. As the monkey jumps onto the table, Elia waves back, and places the silver leash beneath herself, and begins petting the monkey's head. You see Ellaria speaking to a servant, who comes down towards you, after speaking with two servants who hurry out of the room.

"Lady Blacksand, Lady Ellaria would like to offer you and your daughter a seat at the high table, should you wish it."

"I would be delighted to accept Lady Ellaria's invitation. Come along Elia, bring your pet."
Standing, you walk up to the high table, Elia trailing behind you, and the monkey trailing behind her. As you arrive, Daemon inclines his head, while the girl looks at you curiously. The man sitting in the center smiles at you, and you feel a chill go down your spine. The last time you saw a look like that, it was when your father told you of his killing of the Manwoody soldiers, describing in detail the battle. Two servants bring chairs for the two of you, and you sit. The hall seems not to react too much, but you still take a glance to see what the reaction to your new seating was.

11, 12, 7 vs TN 12 (1 Degrees of success)

The upper section of the table appear to be fairly neutral towards your sudden movement, though you do see three faces that briefly react to your ascension. One is a dirty-blonde haired woman wearing a yellow silk dress, with a black iron vulture pin holding it in place, who scowls, and turns to whisper to her neighbour, who frowns deeply. He is a slim man, wearing black, with a golden chain with a small symbol you cannot make out. The other person to react is the Maester, who raises his eyebrows, but makes no other motion, before seeing your gaze, and raises his goblet, a polite smile on his face. Before you can look around more, a small symbol is struck, and servants walk in, carrying a large pot. Setting it in the center of the hall, they begin to ladle a thin liquid into bowls, and carrying it to the tables, the high table first. It appears to be a thin, shellfish soup, and upon tasting, has been spiced with pepper. You finish fairly quickly, and are in the process of persuading Elia to actually eat, instead of trying to feed the monkey, when the tall man in the center leans around Ellaria, and calls out to you.
"Lady Blacksand, my brother has sent a rider, who has permitted me to accept your oath to House Martell as the steward of Sunspear in his place. Is tomorrow morning suitable? I had plans for the afternoon."
He waves a small scroll, and you can see the signs of Martell and a signiture that says "Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne"
Ellaria clears her throat gently.
"Lover, she did not come to Sunspear just to swear fealty. I have told the dame Jordayne to expect us at two hours after sun up, seeking to find a handmaiden for Lady Blacksand."
The man raises his eyebrows, finishes his goblet of wine, and shurgs.
"We should ask Lady Blacksand then. If she wishes to wait till the day after tomorrow for my brother to return, she can wait with you, or she can swear tomorrow, and I'll entertain myself that afternoon while the two of you play in the city."
Daemon Sand chokes slightly, and the girl next to him blushes. Ellaria looks outraged, but her eyes are bright with amusement as she looks at the man.

>Say you'll wait till the day after tomorrow, and swear fealty to the Prince?
>Agree to swear tomorrow, to the Prince's brother?

"Lady Ellaria, would it be possible to delay the meeting with the dame Jordayne? I have been on the road a long time, and am missing my husband. While Sunspear is is delightful, I fear I will be bringing back an entire zoo with me if I allow my daughter to stay here any longer."
Polite laughter ripples around the table, except for the man, who roars with laughter, drawing eyes from all around the hall. He clasps Ellaria's hand, and smiles at her, showing his teeth.
"Light of the Desert, I promise I will make the ceremony as fast as possible, so you do not miss your appointment. I do not know how Doran has patience for it. Now, where is the next course!"

At this outburst, servants enter, holding a large platter with a fish, with a long pointed nose, and bring it to the top table. Presenting it, the servant leading the procession bows.
"Prince Oberyn, for your approval."
The man, now identified as Prince Oberyn, draws a knife, takes a small amount, and chews it, before grinning, and cutting off several slices, and loading a plate up with them. Servants then begin taking the platter from person to person at the high table, serving each in turn. After all at the top table have been served, the dish is taken to the other tables. The fish is lightly grilled, in a spicey sauce, and tastes unlike any fish you've had before, tasting almost sweet. Conversation has picked up, and people are moving around the hall more, talking with each other.

>Speaking to Ellaria

As you finish your serving, you sip from the honey water served with it, before turning to Ellaria, who is being fed small pieces of fish by Oberyn, laughing as Oberyn keeps his eyes locked with hers. Waiting till Oberyn begins eating his own food, you clear your throat and ask to speak to Ellaria.

"Of course, little one, what is it?"

"Well, my Lady, I was wondering about the Prince, Doran. What does he think of me, and our house, given my father's reputation. I'm worried the previous actions of our house have soured relationships."

"Do not worry yourself, the Prince is not like my lover. He is calm, where my sand steed is wild, he is kind where my lover can be cruel. He's one to judge people on who they are, not their family."

"Though he was not amused by your father calling Baratheon in to protect him from his actions!" says Oberyn, leaning forward. "It is possibly the only time I've seen him shout. Your father was a brave man, to anger his liege like that. Though I would have done the same in his position."

Ellaria sighs, and lays her hand on yours.
"He'll be returning tomorrow evening, if the river crossing goes well, so you'll be able to make your own impression then. If he likes you, he won't hold your father against you, he is a man of reconciliation, not feuding, unlike my jewled serpent here."

Oberyn smirks, then kisses Ellaria. Behind them, you see Daemon stealing a glance at the girl, who is similarly glancing back. The two look a little tipsy, and as you watch, the girl whispers in Daemons ear, who glances around, then nods. The girl then stands, and bows.
"Uncle, I would leave now. I fear the wine is somewhat strong for me."
Before Oberyn can reply, Daemon stands.
"I'll escort her back to her rooms, there is no need to bother anyone else."

The girl sighs slightly, but Oberyn widens his eyes and nods slowly, looking around, gazing at you and Ellaria.
"Of course, I see no reaosn for you to stay. I trust my squire will be an example of chivalry and be very honourable."
His voice seems slightly sarcastic, but the two teenagers seem not to notice, bowing, and hurrying out of the hall. Once they are out, Oberyn grins, then starts laughing. Ellaria smiles, and looks wistfully after them.
"First loves, always remembered..."

"Lord Oberyn, Lady Ellaria, who are those two down there? They reacted angrily when I moved to the top table."
Oberyn peers down, and nods, his smile vanishing.
"Those are Lady Arice Blackmont, sister of Larra and Juran Manwoody, they're engaged. Arice is somewhat passionate, she was due to become a handmaiden to my sister before the Lannisters murdered her, except she blames Baratheon for it. And Juran has no cause to love you, his family have ordered him to spit poison about your name for months now."

Thanking Oberyn, you turn to Elia, and see her and the monkey are sleeping, the monkey resting its head on her shoulder. Ellaria peers around, and smiles, before helping you pick her up, and Oberyn carries the sleeping monkey up to your rooms. Bidding you good night, the two of them hurry away, holding hands. You prepare for sleep, and realise you need to decide on what you will wear tomorrow, for the oath.

It is the next day. The sun rose less than an hour ago, and you were woken by a servant informing you Prince Oberyn will await you in the throne room in an hour. Standing in your silk dress, outside the throne room, the chill of the night still hasn't been chased away, and you shiver slightly.

A servant approaches, and opens the door, before stepping back through, and announcing you.
"Lady Lissara Blacksand, Lady of Shadowpeak, here to swear fealty to the Spear Throne and House Martell."

Entering the throne room, you see it is almost empty, a large round room with a floor of white marble, light streaming in through multi-coloured glass, making a kaleidoscope of colours on the floor, as you walk slowly towards a raised dais, on which two wooden thrones sit. One has a blazing sun shaped on it, and is empty, while the other has a spear shaped on it, and Oberyn is sitting, yawning, in it, a spear in his hand. When you enter, he slowly sits up, and blinks a few times.

"Apologies, Lady Blacksand, I got very little sleep last night, though I would not change anything I did." he says with a grin, before lowering his spear to point at you, his face becoming serious and dour. You kneel infront of the throne, and he begins to speak, in a calm and serious tone.
"Lay your hands on the spear, and swear fealty to the Spear Throne of Dorne, and to House Martell."

You lay your hands on the spear, your palms slightly sweaty from the seriousness of the moment.
"I swear fealty to House Martell and the Spear Throne, to serve them in war and peace, and will never rebel against them, the Seven as my witness. This trust I will hold, till the day I die."

Oberyn nods sagely, and moves the spear away, taking you by the wrists and lifting you up.
"Stand, Lissara Blacksand of Shadowpeak, Vassal of House Martell. We charge you to hold the keep of Shadowpeak and the lands allotted to your father, against our enemies, till you and all you own fall. Any who act against you without provocation will be our enemies, and any who act against us will be yours."

Oberyn grins.
"Now hurry along to the Dame Jordaynes house, or Ellaria will not sleep with me for a week. She swore she would do that if I didn't make this short. Normally we'd do this before a full court, and you'd be announced and handed a piece of red mountain stone and a hanful of sand, all very showy. If you want to grasp dust, pick some up outside. >Endurance
5, 1, 2 vs TN 6 (Failure, 1 degree)

>Will
9, 11, 8 vs TN 12 (Failure, 1 degree)

You decide to walk slowly towards the noble quarter, and almost as soon as you move forward, you feel queasy, the ground moving beneath you, as your vision blurs and your head pounds. You stagger, and begin making your way onwards, wincing at every step. You reach up and wipe your brow, sweat still on it, and see your hands have a vivid red rash on them. Looking at both your hands, you see the rash is on both, forming a triangular point across both. They itch ferociously, and as you continue walking, nothing seems to relieve it. You manage to make your way to the Nobles quarter, but as you step through the gate, you are hit by a wave of dizziness and collapse onto a stone seat. Holding your head in your hands, you wait till your vision stops spinning, and you feel more stable before walking towards a tall building, with a banner of green and black silks hanging down. After you knock on the door, it is opened by a servant, who bows, and leads you through to a room with several lounges, where Ellaria and an older woman are sitting, dressed in silks. As you enter, Ellaria turns, the warm look on her face shifting to concern as she looks at you.

"Sit down, little one, sit down."

She clasps the sides of your face with her hands, gazing at your eyes, and then turns your hands over, her eyes turning cold. Standing, she dips her body towards the old woman, and moves towards the door.

"Forgive me, Dame Jordayne, but I have to speak with my lover."

The old woman nods, and Ellaria leaves. The Dame claps her hands, and two servants offer you a goblet of wine, which you wave away, your stomach turning at the idea of drinking the sharp dornish red.

"Ellaria tells me you are seeking a handmaiden. I have three daughters, all skilled, all unlikely to climb high, who would be well served by service to a Lady of a house. What are you looking for in a handmaiden, Lady Blacksand." she says, in an august tone.

"Grandmother."
"Jelissa. This is Lady Blacksand, she is seeking a handmaiden. Tell her why you have a scar."
"Yes grandmother. Lady, I was riding with my sisters when I was young, along the coast of the Dornish sea. I rode faster than my sisters, and we were ambushed by pirates from the Stepstones. I was caught, but not before I hid my sisters in the shadow of a dune, and leading the priates away. They held a knife here," she says, pointing to the mass of scarring, "and tried to get me to tell them where my sisters were hiding, so as to get more of a ransom. I refused, so they cut me. I was held for 3 days, till Lord Anders Yronwood rescued me with his fleet."
She curtsies again, and kneels.
"I am skilled at maintaining hair, and beauty, and I will serve you faithfully, in whatever role you see fit for me, as long as it suits my station."

Dame Jordayne nods, and turns to you.
"Do you wish to see a demonstration of skills, my lady, or are you satisfied?"

"I would like to see a demonstration. Lady Ellaria vouches you, but I would see it for myself."

Jelissa bows her head, and quickly approaches. Gazing into your eyes, she frowns slightly, then stands.
"Your ladyship has been poisoned by wolfsbane, though it has been diluted. It will burn through in a week, though to treat it, I would recommend a compress of Spiceflower seeds and liverwort, to leech the remaining toxins from the afflicted area, and a drink of cold water with powdered dried dragon peppers to blow out the sinuses and alert the senses. I could do more with a maesters kit, but this will hide the effects, and solve the problem. Then, to highlight the hair, I would recommend gold and red enamel jewelry, matched with magenta silks, and a skin oil to conceal the sweating."

Dame Jordayne inclines her head, and nods at a servant, who hurries out. You spend the next 20 minutes being pampered by Jelissa, who gives you a goblet after dropping in a spicey mix. Drinking it, your senses are invigorated, and you feel your mouth burning, which focuses your mind, and goes a fair way to stopping the nausea, though your stomach feels uncomfortable. Jelissa nods when you report this, saying it is easier to hide an upset stomach than a shaky head. She then washes your face, and rubs a scented oil into it, and you feel far cooler. Stepping back, she smiles, her scar crinkling up, and curtsies.
"There, now the signs of your incident are hidden, though a better solution would be a long blade between the ribs of the one who did this."

"I would object to that, I still have use for him, though I would not try so hard to stop you slapping him, Jelissa." Ellarias voice sounds from behind you. Glancing over, you her standing there, with Oberyn behind her, a sheepish grin on his face, holding a pouch containing a mix of bottles.
"Desert flower, I diluted it, there was no way she would have died from it, I was very care..."
"That doesn't matter. You do not poison your brother's vassals without reason. Now use that Citadel education you are so proud of, and give that poor girl the cure, and apologise!" Ellaria sounds furious, though her tone is icy cold. Oberyn looks contrite, and approaches, carefully.
"Lady Blacksand, I may have acted rashly, and without proper consideration. Will you allow me to make amends?"

"Very well Prince. Though you had treated us to dinner, you didn't need to poison us? Why did you poison me?"

Oberyn turns and looks at Ellaria, smiling, as he pulls a handful of bottles from his leather case.
"See, she understands partially!"
Ellaria glares at him again and he shrugs.
"I felt you hadn't been tested. I wanted to see how you would react to it, if you would panic, and run. But you stayed, endured, and ensured you were with friends. I respect that. The Wyls and Manwoodys can complain all they like, you are true Dornish as far as I am concerned. Now, place your hands in this."

Oberyn offers you a small copper bowl, filled with a pale green liquid, as he mixes two liquids into a goblet of wine. He checks your eyes, glances at Jelissa, then frowns.
"Pepper water? Hmm, I'll have to guess your weight..."
Oberyn suddenly lifts you up, off the lounge, and puts you back down, before adding a little of a black powder into the goblet.

"Drink this, and it will counteract the wolfsbane. You'll feel delicate for a day, but you should be able to operate normally. If you feel nausea again, simply drink some watered wine, it will settle your head."

Oberyn stands as you drink, and you almost feel back to normal, your head is aching far less, and you can't feel your hands itching any more. Looking at them, the rash has faded, and you feel far less sweaty. Your vision sharpens back to normal, and as you stand, helped by Oberyn, you feel steady.

"I hope you will not hold a grudge, Lady Lissara. It was a simple joke," he says, "Albeit in terrible taste." as he sees Ellaria glaring at him again. Ellaria firmly grasps his arm, and leads him out, as they leave you hear her voice fading.
"Go and fight someone, work off this awful attitude you have, and don't come to me until you are feeling truly regretful, and not just missing my..."
Her voice fades, and Dame Jordayne tuts.
"A dangerous man is one who knows no limits. But a more dangerous one is one who knows limits, but ignores them anyway. I trust this won't colour your view of Sunspear, my lady. Now, will Jelissa come with you to the Old Palace and I'll have a servant bring her luggage to you when you leave, or will you return alone, and she can pack herself, presenting herself this evening?"

"Thank you, Dame Jordayne, I would be delighted to stay for the day. I would appreciate the company and the chance to rest and recover."

You spend the rest of the day in the cool of the Jordayne's of Sunspear house. Musicians play in the background, as Dame Jordayne entertains you, with stories of former lovers, of tournaments, and of the intrigues of her day. It is early afternoon, when Ellaria rejoins you, and the three of you spend a pleasant afternoon, with Ellaria teaching you cyvasse, though you do fail to grasp the finer points of the game.

When it comes time to leave, Ellaria says she is staying here, as part of her punishment of Oberyn. You head out, and breath the cool evening air, and begin heading through the upper city towards the Palace.

Assassin is defeated.
You render him unconcious.

Reversing your dagger, you slam it into the mans skull, and his eyes roll into his head, and Oberyn kicks the body viciously before turning to you. You can smell wine on his breath, as he runs his hands over your wound, and breathes hard through his nose. Lifting you up, he lifts you over his shoulder, and starts dragging the unconscious assassin with his other hand, calling out in a far louder voice than you.
"Your Prince demands aid, hurry! I've wounded and a prisoner!"
Nothing happens, the streets remain empty, and Oberyn hisses
"Where are the damn patrols!? Curses, I need help here!"

Oberyn carries you, still bleeding heavily, out of the street, onto the main highway leading to the palace, and puts you down against the wall, swinging a bag around from his waist, and pulling out a small bottle. He pours it on your wounds, and it burns like fire, leaving you moaning in pain. He strokes your hair, but continues, ripping off one of his sleeves, and binding it with the assassins belt onto your waist, pressing down on the wound.

>>
>>2849040
I thought we could have mentioned or added how it was the prank was indeed in bad taste almost ironically and let it slip that our dad met a similar fate.
>>
>>2849028
I'm glad this happened though, this is really good for character development. You're one of the best QM's ever, in my opinion, just cuz it seemed you were willing to kill off the MC early in the quest.
>>
>>2849028
How soon can we leave Sunspear? It's a fucking viper's den. I miss the comfy days of fucking Carth every moment.
>>
This has been terrible! Our dress is ruined!

And it was the pretty one too...
>>
>>2849407
On clothing, if you had chosen your travel gear to speak to Oberyn in, that has leather gloves, which means you wouldn't have been poisoned.
>>
>>2849447
But as you say, if we had not been poisoned Oberyn would not be there to save us.
>>
>>2849453
If he had not poisoned us, our enemies wouldnt have felt confident enough to try this little attempt on our life.
>>
>>2849455
But then Oberyn wouldn't be angry at our enemies. Now we have a potential ally. It worked out in the end.
>>
>>2849555
True. But he will still be grumphy when he is being denied sex for a least a week for his little stunt.
>>
>>2849556
Which will make him even more motivated. Then Ellaria will reward him by fucking his brains out and one of our enemies is dead, probably scaring the others. A win-win.
>>
>>2849559
Maybe we should hold a small ceremony for our husbands poor pelvis bone for when we return home ?
>>
>>2849565
He'll be fine. Carth can handle a day or two day of rough non-stop love making by now.
>>
>>2849588
One day? It'll be a whole week of non stop fucking for all the days we have missed.
>>
>>2849607
I swear. Carth is going to die from exhausting and leave us a poor widow with our 9 children. And we will miss him every single day.
>>
>>2849617
On a plus side, Carth is getting fit as fuck (lol) due to sex.
>increase stamina
>muscle gains
>flexibility
>smarter
>>
>>2849626
And all he ever wanted was just read his books and do maths.
>>
>>2849664
all he ever wanted was the truth
>>
>>2849028
sure, it was a prank... to Oberyn.

but look at it from a different perspective.

the prince just poisoned a vassal during the ceremony for her to swear her allegiance directly before she was the target of an assassination attempt. That, at the very least, undermines the intent.

further, said vassal has ample reason to be more loyal to outside houses than to sunspear.

There are no end of houses who would love to fuck with them either economically or otherwise. And shadowpeak, while not the strongest, would still be difficult to remove from an entrenched position.

after a snafu of this magnitude we would be fools not to seek allies outside of Dorne.

and nevermind that the prince showed up to save us, because the entire situation was his damn fault. for all we know he arranged the entire thing to engender loyalty in us. we the players know thats not true, but thats meta.

If all they come back with is "oh, yeah we got the guys who did it" then they are pissing away an already unstable relationship.

for fucks sake, Bobby B would probably be VERY interested in our greivances.

of course Oberyn will be fine, thats not the point though
>>
>>2850080
You're overthinking. There's no reason whatsoever to accuse Oberyn; might even ruin the chance of getting royalty on our side. I think our PC can read people well enough to find their true intentions. Besides, nobles irl fucking do these types of pranks. This one just had an unforseen consequence. Now they're obligated to fix this.
>>
>>2850103
Could atleast use this to guilttrip him. Get us a nice horse and some nice jewelry at the least.
>>
>>2850103
>nobles irl poison each other as a prank all the time
lmao at you right now
>>
>>2850107
We could.
>>2850113
Geez, it's almost like pranks can accidentally go too far especially for overconfident tricksters like Oberyn...
>>
>>2850113
Oberyn did literally murder the Lord of Yronwood about 7 years ago. He got away with it to.
>>
>>2850229
Yes, but they had to make concessions to Yronwood, surely?
>>
>>2850233
Quentyn was warded there, and Oberyn went on holiday for 2 years.
>>
>>2850237
great. then it shouldnt be too much to ask for a bit of wealth, jewelry. Maybe even some gifts to the husgband and the boys back home
>>
>>2850241
Then special "gifts" for Carth at night.
>>
Fuck Dorne though. Our focus should be on finding friends in the reach and stormlands March.
>>
>>2850258
They're still dejure our liege, we need to play nice.
>>
>>2850258
And further alienate ourselves in our homeland? Not good, Anon. We live there. Besides, imagine everyone's faces when we raise our House to the top.
>>
>>2850237
>>2850241
I don't think we should ask for gifts cuz that's really gay and would lower our reputation with them a tiny bit, but they should definitely offer something as a conciliation. Even if it's just like, a trade deal or some professional to help us.
>>
>>2850260
That goes without saying.
>>2850267
We're closer to Storm's end than to Sunspear.
>>
>>2850275
Of course we would never ask openly. We would merely insinuate
>>
>>2850275
We're not getting anything, see >>2849024
>>
>>2850277
People will see us as even bigger traitors if we cozy up more with Storm. Let's just savage what Dornish allies we can get and plan from there first.
>>
>>2850287
Yes, the whole point is to convince the QM to give us something.
>>
>>2850290
I think that path is locked when we chose the nerdy stormlander as hubby.
>>
>>2850307
I think most people would see it as a good thing even if they hate to admit it. If we can convince others our connection to the Stormlanders is a benefit to Dorne then they just might just dislike us than hate us. Maybe even be begrudging trading partners.
>>
>>2850321
Stormlanders killed their lieges sister and her children, as well as their former kangs who they liked. The only ones who might support us would possibly be Yronwood cuz they want to usurp Martells, and even then it's maaaybe.
>>
>>2850331
Nah, its only the Marchers that hate the Stormlanders with an unrelenting passion. The rape and murder was carried out by the Westerlands. We'd be murdered already if we had connections to the Lannisters.
>>
Hey QM what were our parent's names? Are there any other knights under our banner other than Ascar and the other hedge knight? Could Carths family provide maybe a cousin or something to help bolster our ranks, feel like were missing out on noble knights here. That said Ascar is top tier, I'd like to see him get something for his good service.
>>
>>2850891
Let's set him up a pious and saucy beautiful woman to be his wife. Perhaps a cousin of ours to give him more reason to be loyal to the House.
>>
>>2850955
That actually sounds like a really good plan. We'd need to put some work into it on our end since Lissara doesn't have any known direct cousins. Maybe old dad misplaced some family here and there that we don't know of.
>>
>>2850103
Im not accusing Oberyn, I am saying he fucked up. From Doran's pov, this could be a major pain in the ass. especially if the house that tried to kill us wisely employed deniable assets.

then he wont even have a culprit. And his only experience of our character is likely her father who had no qualms about taking his complaints to a fellow stormlander. Add in the fact that Lissara is a hot grill and he has every reason to suspect Bobby B will lend an ear.

this wouldnt amount to much, except of course her father was just poisoned and the guilty party has been bragging about it so hard a nearly no name hedge knight knew about it less than a fortnight later...

At best its an embarrasment, at worst its an incident.

Of course, he jas something he can give us that we would value, the identity of our fathers murderers and a valid cassus belli to annihilate them from dorne...

not that he will go that far, Im just saying that the incident is a stain on the honor of the martells and that Doran would be well served to make an example of both justice, and friendship.
>>
>>2851645
Wasn't a no name hedge knight, it was a bastard of Hellholt.
>>
>>2851763
He was a bastard but his ancestor has not been confirmed yet.
>>
>>2851794
Nah he told you, he's the son of the brother of the Lord of Hellholt. He's Ellaria's cousin, technically.
