Despite the staggering amount of losses from their last war, The Voss Empire's armies have started taking a dark turn into Necromancy, Dark Science, and a vast war Industry that has dubbed its Imperial Minister as the No Life King.

Not only that, but Voss itself began to expand beyond the Valknyres and into surrounding nations under the Casus Beli of Reclaiming the 4 corners of the Valknyres, of which 2 have already fallen to it and with the promise of many more to come, warlords and nations of the east have begun to reach out either to ally with each other or to join hands with a new World Power.

The newly formed nation of Ragnyll looked on as half the world began to set fire. And while the Voss ultimately stayed their forces at our border after years of fighting, pushing through would be a gamble too big to stake our small little corner of home on. Being a shield was all we could manage ever since Ragnyll's spearhead; the 13th Division had all but disappeared. The legends we heard from the first wave were the bits of hope we held on to, all the battles they won. The amount of Voss Imperials and Undead they fought at their full force seemed unreal. Unreal for us at the Militia.

The nations to the West depended on us to keep them back but not enough to support a direct fight in the Valknyres As it is the West was already split on the decision to fight together or be left alone after 8 years of fighting. Somehow, Voss knew that if they left them alone with their trade deals of Ibonyte, they would not intervene. Then - the unthinkable happened.

LISTEN UP.

Those of you who are new to this, the basics are easy: stay out of range, stay in cover, and shoot the enemy before they shoot you.

See the attached image. Purple is the minimal line of defense we need to hold; if the enemy enters our trench line they will gain cover and we will lose it, making this much harder. Orange is 5 tiles away from that line of defense, indicating the standard range of most weaponry. The red hexes likely block line of fire.

This means that red X is of the greatest concern. While the enemy will be restricted in their movement, we will have a minimal period of time in which to engage them there. Fortunately, it's too narrow for tanks. It also is an easy access point to our trench line.

Too much? Here's the summary:
- Hold territory behind purple line
- Engage enemies within orange line
- Red lines probably can't be shot through
- Watch the area marked with an X.

Further referencing this map, Note the enemy armor, designated M1, M2, Btl1, Btl2. I expect their armor group "1" to move South around those rocks, while their group "2" attacks the North flank. M1 & M2 will engage first after closing into melee - we'll need Heavy Gunner trackers to boost our bitank accuracy and Demo grapeshot.

We'll likely not have enough firepower to defeat both armor groups if we engage them equally. Since we're concentrated in the South we'll probably need to focus firepower on that flank first then pivot to deal with the North.

It should be expected that the enemy troops are analogues to our own. The main exception is their armor and the axemen. These are powerful warriors from the kingdom of Norr - renowned to be tougher than our own vanguards, which is an accomplishment. Expect a move of 3 and 2-3 actions - if you are in melee with them, it will hurt.

M1 & M2 are melee armor mechs.

Btl1 & Btl2 likely match our own Bitanks in terms of weaponry.

For every Ragnyllian victory would be swamped by our losses from the days before combined with the unbridled bulk of Voss's forces. To push would mean to contribute to losses elsewhere. First Month of the War.
" Lieutenant we followed up on the case involving Bartram and it turns out that his body turned up in a forest somewhere as it was walking towards a checkpoint. Needless to say they've put together our report of confiscated weapons and her presence in Bartram and are now asking questions.

Firstly, the weapons we found had not been recorded by the commissions office so no one filed a request for it even though she herself was able to reproduce documents for a work order. Furthermore, the weapon schematics seemed to have originated somewhere with an advanced industry and its use purposes was very suspect. Central Command thanks us for our efforts however and are integrating those weapons into our arsenal as we speak.

Secondly , I've scoured Fenrir's contacts and it seems that people from the doll shop knew of an interesting set of talents around Ral Gran. However their work is rather expensive.

And thus ends my weekly report, Dragonheart, ma'am.

Peanut wasn't a bright lad. When given his conscription forms he was forced to redo them 4 times because he kept getting the information wrong. He was prone to minor errors and couldn't remember the simplest instructions. It's probably why he ended up picking up an MG. It seemed easy, just point and fire, noone to coordinate with, hunker down and listen for CO to say which poor bastards would get their recommended dosage of vitamin L. Still Peanut wasn't a fan of authority. He lost count of how many NJPs he got from being out of regulation uniform, forgetting the countless routines, and other bullshit; partly due to his incompetence and the rest from his inability to care. Soon he took to just disappearing. His CO was swamped in so much shit that Peanut's absence either wasn't noticed or not thought about; at the least he wasn't fucking up. So Peanut learned to hide and shirk from his duties. That is unless they interested him at all.

Two men grumbled then drew their knives. A little while later, the grumbling turned into curses.

Access to food, shelter and some ability to keep up physical standards. The fact their prisoner was a sword did not allow a free bypass of hallowed military regulations, so, seeing other slim options, Fireteam Lupe had set about attempting to live up to the mandates of military law. They requisitioned extra oil from the quartermaster and picked up a book on Voss Sword Technique (“A Field Of Swords, Flowering”, poetic but snappy). They’d swung by an evening class run by an enthusiastic elderly female vanguard, arms tremblig with the effort of long-blade technique. And now with their charge ropped against a treetrunk, wrapped in canvas and still handcuffed, the three men had come upon a problem.

“How do we allow the prisoner to exercise, exactly?” asked the teamleader.
Behind him, his second was hobbled over, still wheezing from an “instructive” snap-kick to the ribs. The third glanced over, and their eyes met. Mutual looks of horror dawned.
“Hm” said the teamleader, following a catastrophic line of mental inquiry.
The two men took a step back
“I think I have an idea.”
They considered running for it, to go to ground in the deep woods.

One man drew his side-arm while the other threw himself out of the way.

Further exploration in the west side of Ral Gran revealed many surplus merchants as well as a few token specialists that have retired from the army.

Like a good majority of those in Valknyre there are those who had lived here since the mountains formed and those who simply wandered into it after sailing into Gran lake and never leaving. Finding the land unclaimed a score of cultures slowly formed under the watchful eye of kings as they slowly took all who would volunteer into their ranks. The land would on occasion spill with blood until another supreme king would be established - never would there be a proper crown nor a proper nation due most in part to the power dynamics of the 4 corners. That said. With the true King lost to the ages missing Voss has become but one corner of the Valknyres and Ragnyll the other. Life and death goes on.

As frontline advisor I recommend the purchase of Formula Black by any members of this unit who have not yet contributed any zenny towards upgrades. Even in the worst case of this bonus only applying to the demo's direct hit, it will be an extreme boon for utility usage of the grenade launcher. Don't purchase the cyclical launcher, it's very good but we should be able to get it free easily enough.

I would ask that a demolitions specialist start tracking grenade launcher scatter for non-direct hits, I'm interested to see if we can determine the pattern. Any volunteers?

I'd also personally advise that the MREs are the best purchase, or possibly heavy armor, as heavy armor might easily apply to far more than just the Vanguards, but even if it just appliest o vanguards, it makes our front line far tankier, far harder to break, and that in turn makes the entire team more survivable.

For less of a random chance on who and what it does, the MREs give +2 HP, that's +4-+6 total HP on every single unit in the game.

We direct non militiants have little to no real armor to speak of.

Each of them has links within the Voss warmachine, they each have their personal realms of responsibility. You kill one, you cripple that realm. We nailed the guy who looked like he was specilizing in raiders, so we'll probably not have to deal with the raider elites he could bring to bear... and thank all the gods and demons above none of the voss royal raiders."

Hetros scowls over the rest of them, "That's not to say he won't be replaced. Whoever he's replaced by will be younger, hungrier, and not content to sit on his laurels, he'll be nastier, harder to put down. Keep that in mind."

He taps on the trooper, "You assaults? These are basically you guys, they got different guns, they're more organized, but they're basically the same as you guys from what I've been told. But there's lots more of them."

Hetros' voice turns to a low growl and he scribbles over the raider drawing, "FINALLY WE HAVE THE RAIDERS! Fuck these guys. Fuck them and the wolves they rode in on. They're like us vanguards but more blood thirsty and assholish. Who uses TWO AXES really?! Don't let them get close, you think we're nasty with a blade? Due to Ibonyte's basic property of replicating any element it touches it's been seen as the philosopher's stone to many and its uses are without limits. Merchants have used it to reproduce gold. Alquemists drew from its evocative properties and have created new magic for the modern world. The world of Technology and War marched ever forward, and soon it accomplished what all humans wished for. The eradication of monsters within their borders.

As history would remember it, the 2nd War of the Valknyres would be the biggest one that would pull the world in two because of Voss's envy for Ibonyte. As the world's many advances depended on Ibonyte, Two alliances formed with it's two resident contenders. The West with Ragnyll , Aeon , and Clovis. The East with Voss an assimilated Krussia and Norr, with Qrloon's many dynasties in their sights.


With Orders to report to Baghrahm, the Ibon Drake answered without a second thought. To get there as expediently as possible meant going to Stallion,a port town still held by our forces. It's importance as an access way to the rest of Gran lake's waters were too important to evacuate and hand over to Voss. And so , on our way to catch a transport to Baghrahm, those same dark shapes in the sky followed us once again.

The speaker caught a rifle thrown at him by another ranger. Checked the chamber in the same movement as he swung the sling over his shoulder.

"But that's Command for ya. No appreciation of your common footslogger. Thinks its all Tanks and Vanguard charges. But while they're having their metal-parade, we can get the job done.

just to clarify.

1) upgrades bought through the expenditure of zenny that are applied globally (such as mithril light armor) will upgrade any class directly named. If that is a base class, it will also raise any subclasses, at most, to that value, but will not boost above that amount (for example: base class has armor 3, upgrade gives +2 armor, final armor is 5 for the base class. Subclass has native 4 armor, the upgrade will only bring them up to 5 armor, not 6).

2) XP expenditures, such as on skills, or otherwise personal expenditures, can be transferred between base class and subclass. So if I've got +5% hit with swords as a vanguard, I'll have +5% hit with swords as a slayer (assuming that slayers use swords of course).
