“Come on, Peppa, let’s go!” The blazing, sparking, golden-haired form of your father, Son Goku, yells out as he charges at you at full force. He throws a powerful right hook at you, only for you to catch it with your left hand and grab on to his arm with your right. You use his momentum against him, tossing him behind you and following it up with a slash from your tail. But as Goku is thrown back, he manages to plant his palm on the ground and push away, flipping back to his feet as he dodges your tail strike.

Your dad takes a fighting stance, and you keep your guard up, smirking as your own golden, sparking aura flows around you. “Same old trick, dad? Don’t tell me you’re starting to get rusty!” You deliver a spinning kick at him, Goku blocking it and trying to strike back at you. You guard against it and try to push back off him, only for Goku to grab your tail and attempt to toss you to the ground. You kick off him and land on your feet, bringing your guard up again.

“Nah, just testing ya!” your dad replies with that dorky, excited grin of his. “We still got a bit before Gohan and Maple are done making breakfast, and I’ve got a feeling we’re getting close to pushing past that last barrier.”

Past the barrier. You, dad, and Gohan have been trying for years now to go beyond this form, to break your limits once more. Even in these years of peace, there’s been this lingering worry that Towa was planning something, especially with the likes of Broly under her control. Your mom and dad have been preparing for that. You aren’t going to let them down. Still... what is the power you see beyond your barrier, Peppa?

“Ascending beyond an Ascended Super Saiyan, huh? What’d you even call that, Double Ascended?” you question aloud, your dad laughing at that remark. You smirk, charging up your Ki even further. You point at Goku and declare. “I’m gonna get there first, dad! Count on it!” You ARE close, you just need a little something more to push you over the edge. Give it a couple more days and you’re sure you’ll reach the next level. You dash at Goku, trying for a few quick jabs that he blocks.

“Bit of a mouthfull, really, I agree.” Goku replies, chopping at you, you managing to duck under and try for an uppercut, your dad just barely avoiding it. “What was it that Maple said Future Gohan called it? Super Saiyan 2? Well, then the next step is clearly Super Saiyan 3!” Goku manages to grab you by your arm as you attempt another jab, throwing you down and attempting to deliver a fierce dropkick, you only avoiding it with a quick Ki blast to the ground to push you away.

You stand again, guard up. “Though, maybe the real trick is figuring out how to move past relying on Super Saiyan like this. The real barrier to overcome is making all this power mine without needing to transform. Some day, I bet I’ll do just that, dad.”

The two of you continue training until breakfast is ready, your mom and brother calling the two of you back for a heaping dozen plates of pancakes. Ah, mom’s specialty! Still, with all this training, you’ve really improved a lot since you and Gohan beat Majin Ozotto, and everyone took down Dr. Raichi and Hatchiyak. Gohan has improved too, but not quite as much as you and your father. After scarfing down a couple plates, your mom looks over to you and your brother. “So, are you two sure you’re ready for what’s coming on Monday?” she asks.

“Mumdfay?” you mumble out through a mouthful of pancakes.

“Classes start up again, sis.” Gohan reminds you. “Videl’s been pretty anxious about it, but I’m certain we’ll do fine. You know, if a certain sister of mine remembers to do her homework this time.”

“It was two assignments, give it a rest, bro.” you grumble out at him after gulping down your food. Never gonna live that down, huh?

“Honestly the two of you are a good deal above high school level at this point. Missed assignments aside, I’m glad you’re both excelling, but you two sure you don’t want more of a challenge?” Maple asks the both of you.

“I could, but I want to give myself a bit more time before I try deciding on something more. We’ll only be 14 this year, after all.” Gohan responds.

It'd also be a good way to really test Gohan and Peppa's SSJ 2.

You smile at your mother. “I like the friends I’ve made there, mom. I don’t wanna jump ahead of them so quickly. I mean, I still try to keep in contact with Cocoa, and Gohan, I have known her ever since like kindergarten. Videl especially is one reason. As popular as she is, Gohan, Izzy, and I kinda connect with her best, you know?” You take another bite of your pancakes and gulp them down quickly. “Plus, in general it’s just a good balance. Gohan, and I can keep up with schoolwork without sacrificing too much of our training time.” Sitting back and crossing your arms proudly, you add, “I mean, you felt dad and I out there this morning, look how strong we’ve gotten!”

Maple chuckles. “Honestly, it’s a wonder you two don’t tear up more of our front lawn with those training sessions. The two of you are pretty even these days.”

They hypothetically could, but they haven't tried it just yet. Hasn't really been a need so far, but if push came to shove they'd probably be able to unlock it. Raditz thinks the trick is greater Stamina reserves.

Might be a good idea to suggest it to them, though, if you want to really test how strong Gohan and Peppa have gotten. And the boosted up Super Saiyan 2 is an option, but it requires focusing on the form more.

Maple sighs and shakes her head after giving a little chuckle. “Fine, fine.”

“Hm... well, I’ll head off on my own then, I was going to meet with Pantea today.” Gohan tells the three of you.

“You sure you don’t need me to teleport you too, son?” your mom asks.

“Eh, it’s not urgent. I’ll see you guys later!”

With Gohan off, you see Goku eye your brother’s plate, one pancake left untouched. “See you later, son! And have fun, Peppa! I’ll probably head over some time later.” he states and starts sliding it over to him.

You and your mother stand up. She walks over to you, placing her hand on your shoulder. She pauses for a moment, placing her hand to her forehead, then moving it off and over to yours, juuuust barely above your hair. “...Another growth spurt and looks like my days of being second tallest are done for.”

“Can’t help it! Growing girl” you chuckle out. “Ah, by the way mom, you ever gonna teach me your Instant Transmission trick?”

“If you ever have the patience to try again.” she replies with a suspicious look.

You pout. “I will, promise!”

“Then review with me, first step?”

“Locking on to a specific Ki signature!” you blurt out. You try to focus yourself on your Uncle’s Ki.

“Second step?” she asks, placing her fingers on her forehead.

“Concentrating your own Ki on that signature.”

The tricky step. “Er... merging your... energy into some kind of zone thing... and moving through it?”

Maple teleports you away with her, with you appearing near Raditz. “Close enough.”

Your uncle turns around, smiling. “Well well, my favorite sister-in-law and niece. Come by for a visit?”

“SNEAK ATTACK!” a young voice shouts, you and your mom dodging easily as an energetic little hairball lunges at you both, missing and landing face-first in the snow, tail swaying in disappointment. “...Aww butts.”

“Never gonna get us that way if you keep announcing it, Daikon.” you tell your cousin with a smirk.

He pokes his head up. “Will too.”

“Have fun you kids, Goku and I still have some dishes to do.” Maple waves as she teleports back home.

“Hmnh. So, are you ready to get this started?” Raditz asks.

Daikon’s face gains a beaming smile. Heh, the kid’s wanted his gold hair for a while now. You managed to transform when you were younger than him, buuuut recalling all that happened so long ago, circumstances were a little different. Raditz places his hand on his son’s head. “Just needs the right push. Thanks for coming to help, kiddo.”

You stretch. “Ah, no biggie! So, let’s see it, Daikon.”

The kid nods, taking his stance and building up power. “Ready!”

Okay... recall what you learned. “The power comes from anger, but a just kind of anger. Build up your strength, build it up, and let it explode with fury!” The boy charges at you, but you push him aside. “Closer. Put more power into it, Daikon!”

He gathers more of his strength, flying around you and trying to land a flurry of blows... each one easily blocked. “Ghh! Come on!”

You finally land a palm strike to his torso that sends him flying back. Clearly, needs more than just a push. As Daikon comes flying back, you think you know a way to get under his skin a little. You turn to your uncle, almost ignoring your cousin as he attacks. “Dad and I were talking about pushing past the barrier again. Reaching the next level of power.”

“Still not there yet, huh?” Raditz comments.

“Betting if you and dad fused again, you two could overcome it. I’d really like to at least see it.” You keep pretending to ignore the increasingly frustrated kid, blocking and dodging every attack he throws at you.

Raditz sighs. “While we could, I want to more than just reach it, I want to be able to use it. We power up and reach the next level, but what good is it if we can only land a single blow against a foe?”

“Sometimes that’s all it takes. Just like-... huh?” You catch Daikon’s fist as you sense something approach, the boy trying to pull away to no avail as you lock on to it. It’s... weak, but unusually so. Seems to be in Jingle Village somewhere... a person? A weird person, their Ki is odd. Almost... sinister.

“No, focus.” you tell him.

Raditz tilts his head. “Ugh, is it another bear going through our garbage again?” Focusing, he seems to pick up on what you’re sensing. “...We’re going.”

You and your uncle start running, with you still holding Daikon by his arm. The presence seems to be near... Suno. You and Raditz hurry quicker, but as you both arrive, the presence somehow vanishes. The both of you hover above the snow slightly, with you finally letting go of Daikon, the boy doing the same. Suno pokes her head out of the window, noticing you all. “Oh, Peppa! Hello, what’s-”

You and Raditz bring a finger to your lips. Raditz’s eyes widen as the two of you sense it inside the house. Not moving towards Suno, but whatever it is... it’s up to something.

You motion for Suno to hide, then float towards the door. With Raditz guarding the window and Daikon heading in to cover his mom, you finally strike! You dash in and shout out “PEPPA SMASH!” as you tackle the figure. It is... much smaller than you were expecting.

“DANGER! DANGER! SERIOUS DANGER!” a small, white, spherical robot proclaims as you grab it. “DANGER! DANGER!”

You turn it around, glaring at its large green optic. “Oh you bet you’re in danger. Who are you and why are you barging into my aunt and uncle’s house?” You raise your Ki a little.

“HIGH ENERGY LEVEL DETECTED! DANGER! DANGER! GIRU, GIRU!”

Suno and Daikon peek around the corner of their kitchen. “What is that thing?”

“DANGER! DAN-GHH!”

You bonk it against the floor. “Start. Talking.”

The robot’s arms flail harder. “DANGER! SAIYAN DETCT-” Its flailing slows. “...Tuffle life force detected?” it asks aloud, confused.

Well. Wasn’t expecting this today. “What about it, punkbot?”

“Tuffle... Saiyan..” it starts repeating, confused. “Tuffle... Saiyan...? Tuffle... Saiyan...”

“...Why does it have ki?” Raditz asks aloud. That’s... a good question.

Ugh. Well, at least Gero isn’t responsible, right? “Rules out that. Okay, what is your mission, DB46... whatever your name is, why are you here?”

“I say call it Giru.” Daikon suggests.

“GIRU, GIRU, MISSION: LOCATE LIVING SAIYAN LIFE FORMS AND RETURN. LIVING SAIYAN LIFE FORMS DETECTED. DANGER, HIGH ENERGY LEVEL DETECTED IN SAIYAN...” Its loud, obnoxious voice lowers again. “Complication: Tuffle life force detected. Saiyan life force detected.” The machine starts beeping frantically. “Saiyan... Tuffle?”

“Yeah, cousin Peppa’s both.” Daikon blurts out.

Yoooou’ve got an idea on where this is all going. And you do not like that idea. Mom has mentioned something about this years back... something about a monster based on the Tuffles. You hold on to the robot and state, “Okay, ‘Giru,’ listen up. You know about us Tuffles, right? Would you be more willing to talk if more of us were around? Maybe some to fix you a bit?”

“GIRU, GIRU. Repairs appreciated!”

“I’ll... try and contact mom and Bulma.” you tell Suno and Raditz. Hearing the news, Maple immediately teleports over, getting you and Giru to Bulma’s as fast as possible, Raditz stating he’s going to continue training Daikon. Though... before you leave, you feel another strange presence in the area, one that vanishes as soon as your mom arrives. Seems there’s more going on here than you expected. Best Raditz is around to keep that under watch.

As you arrive at Capsule Corp, interrupting Gohan and Pantea’s gaming session before it could even really get started, your mom and Bulma get to work on learning about the little robot. With your uncle and cousin arriving shortly after, the machine looks over you all in mild confusion. “Five... Tuffle life forces detected. Two Saiyan life forces detected.”

“Definitely does have Ki.” Acer states, watching as it stands and analyzes. “...16, would Doctor Gero have anything to do with this? Made it like he made you and 19?”

“I have no recollection of it.” the red-haired head of an android replies, glaring at you all from the corner of the room. “And I am insulted that you think my father would build something so useless. Too large to be a spy robot, too noisy to be used to infiltrate anything. Clearly, defective trash.”

“Giru, giru...” the robot beeps at him sadly.

Maple rubs her chin. “It... really could be Baby, like in the future. That Gohan only ever got to mention parts of what happened, and given the differences in our timelines now, this could be something else entirely. Still... he knows about us, specifically.”

Izzy rests her arms on the table, chin on her palms as she looks over the robot. “What does your programming tell you about us, little guy?”

“Planet Plant’s Tuffle population wiped out by Saiyans, complete genocide. Five Tuffle life forces detected. Saiyan genocide not complete. Giru, giru. Directive 3: protect Tuffle life forms.”

Maple and Acer look at each other. “...Protect?” they repeat.

“Well, I’d need to start making some schematics on its operating system, reverse-engineer what sort of alien technology is in it, without risking any additional damage... maybe a year?”

“Bet we could knock it down to a few months if Maple and I help you.” Pantea comments.

Bulma nods. “Absolute best case scenario, sure. Maybe less if we knew what we’re dealing with, any hints at all...”

“Baba and I could probably find something, too.” mom adds in.

You look over to 16‘s head. “You suuuure you don’t know what kind of robot it is?”

“A tool, at best.” he replies dismissively. “Used for repairs and lab assistance. If it can not manage even that, it is clearly just an obsolete curiosity.”

“YARR, SUNNY DISPOSITION YA HAVE THERE.” the pirate robot head beneath him comments.

You, mom, Bulma, and Pantea all glance at Giru. “...Test it out?” the four of you ask each other.

“Testing it out.” Gohan places a small, handheld blowtorch near Giru, and two sheets of scrap metal. “All right guy, do your thing.”

Giru stands up, walks over to the torch, picks it up... and then its... body? Mouth? Whatever it is, it opens up and it places the blowtorch inside, consuming it with a loud crunch. It then produces a small blowtorch from its arm, welding the two sheets together.

Pantea stares intently at the robot. “It’s like Rock and Kirby had a baby...”

“So, alien helper robot from outer space that eats tools. Where exactly ARE you from, Giru?” you ask.

“ERROR, DATA FRAGMENTED.” You grumble at it. Of course that’s its response.

Last known interaction was with a figure dressed in dark blue. 3 distinctive marks on individual. Systems shut down upon encountering individual. Reactivation and search for Saiyans occurred shortly after arriving on planet. Giru, Giru.”

Waaait a second. “...I sensed an odd ki signature when you arrived. You don’t seem to have it... but something with you did.”

“Giru, Giru. Desert planet, two moons in the sky upon last view of night. Searching... searching... data recovered.” On the sheet metal he was given, Giru welds out a number of symbols... ones your mom identifies immediately.

“No way, Imecka?!” she blurts out in surprise.

“Isn’t that where you met the Ginyu Force?” Bulma asks her.

“Yeah, where we met that Ledgic guy, too.” she confirms. “Giru, can you confirm you’re from there, or another planet?”

“Earlies files do not match that planet. Giru, Giru.” the robot states.

“So that’s a start, at least.” Acer adds in.

You think “Those distinctive features, what were they?”

“Giru! Giru! In addition to the dark blue suit, the individual possessed white armor, large lips, and this mark on its forehead.” He welds another thing onto the sheet of metal... huh. That is bizarre... some kind of... weird “M” symbol?

Regardless, you think to mention to Raditz if he could sense anything after you all left. He apparently did pick up on some strange presence nearby, but they’re gone now. Still, he’ll be on the lookout for any individuals like that.

Well, first you spend some time helping Bulma and Pantea set Giru up in a secure place, both for his own sake and the sake of everything around him. He’s already gone and eaten a blowtorch, who knows what else me might try to eat. Keep the little guy away from the expensive stuff, and especially the Dragon Radar. It... proves to be more of a challenge than you expect. The robot is naturally curious. A bit too curious. For most of the day you keep finding him get into things he shouldn’t, even eating the prized cappuccino machine Bulma’s dad loves... though, since Giru can copy mechanical devices, the old man takes it in stride, having a new “mobile” cappuccino machine at his call.

Your mom ends up being the one who finally figures out a solution: have her camels watch over the robot. That it works is something you really would be questioning if you weren’t so used to it by now, but truth be told Larry, Curly, and Moe prove to be excellent caretakers for the little guy. As your mom always says, such a good deal.

“Well, ominous as that might have started out as, at least the thing isn’t trying to cause any trouble.” Videl comments to you as you finish recounting the events to her, walking with her hands behind her head, her twintails bouncing slightly with every step she takes.

“Still couldn’t take my eyes off that thing for a minute until mom figured that out.” You glance over to your brother and give him a glare. “Would’ve been a lot of help if SOMEONE took his eyes off the videogames for ten minutes and let me get a break.”

“You were handling it fine on your own.” Gohan says with an innocent smile. “Besides, it was the new Zelda! You know how long she’s been waiting for that thing to come out? Triforce Champions, with Ys-inspired combat additions and a party system with Linkle and...”

The first major change is that Twilight Princess did came out for the Gamecube first, back in early Age 770. The first Wii Zelda title is instead a game called Mark of Beasts, featuring the Hero of Beasts, in late 771, visually halfway between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. There was a remake/re-imagining of the Oracles games called Oracle of Secrets released in late 772, in a similar style to A Link Between Worlds, that features a sort of 2 in 1 system with a bonus final story once both are complete. Might as well get him off her back a bit. Friendly as he tries to be, time and a place for that, and now is not it. You get a 1 Zenni coin out of your pocket and stealthily place it on the table, then, gently now, don’t wanna REALLY hurt him, you flick it at the back of Sharpner’s head. He yelps quietly as the coin bounces off him, turning his head around trying to find what that was. You stay as low-key as possible, taking some notes on what your instructor’s saying.

You can’t help but smirk just a little. Mom actually told you a good deal about this herself. She WAS one of the people responsible for it, after all. You both know she didn’t REALLY need that bit of help, but still, didn’t hurt.

You have to wonder, though, are there ANY boys she’s into? Always seems like she brushes off everyone who attempts to ask her out, no matter how nice they are. Say, speaking of... “You drawing something too, Erasa? Is it the usual, or have you moved on to a new boy?”

A cheeky smile appears on her face as she shows you a rather detailed sketch of a young man. “Barry Kahn, he’s so dreamy.”

“My sister’s walls are plastered with pictures of that guy.” Pen adds in.

“...Say, Pen, that robot your sister saw, did it look like this?” You show him your drawing of Giru.

“Nah, it was this weird-looking huge thing that broke into our home. Some kind of thing with these big metal pauldrons. Don’t know why he was in my underwear drawer, but police managed to scare him off.”

Well, nuts. Not a lead. But... definitely weird. Erasa scoots closer. “What do you think, Peppa? Isn’t he a hunk?”

Erasa lowers her head, letting out a sigh of relief. “Close one. Thanks for the save.”

“Let’s have a warm-up first. Compare each level of power we’ve got.” You take your stance, your own aura flaring around you.

“Fine by me!” Videl shouts out, charging at you. She tries for one of her dad’s Dynamyte Kicks... only to feint at the last minute, instead attempting to knee you in the face. You still are able to react in time, blocking her attack and pushing her off, then thrusting forward with a palm strike that sends Videl on her back.

“Point: me.” you declare proudly... only to notice that in a literal blink of the eye, Videl’s vanished, leaving a trail of sparks leading upward. As you look up... aw crap.

“Kaio-ken!” she yells out, her aura a blazing red as she flies down at you.

Crap, that’s quicker than you were expecting. You dash out of the way with the Raio-Ten, only for Videl to keep at it, charging at you with a flurry of blows. You keep dodging until the surge of strength disappears, finally getting the chance you need to really let loose. You power up further, transforming into a Super Saiyan right as Videl tries to amp up her Kaio-ken and tripping her down, grabbing her arm while she’s off-balance and flinging her to the ground once again. You grin proudly. “Two points, now.”

Videl backflips away. “All right. We do this the hard way then... KAIO-TEN!” A calmer white aura surrounds Videl, her power jolting up even further, as her aura starts to focus into her legs, especially around her calves, ankles, and feet. She brings one leg up, then jumps with the other, finally kicking at you... and instead of heading forward, she releases a jolt of energy from her kick. You try to bring up your guard again, but too little, too late, you’re pushed back, arms raised as poorly block the energy thrust at you... and with that, Videl has her target, landing a solid kick to your gut.

As you’re pushed back, you skip across the mountaintop twice before managing to orient yourself upright again. “Well... that hurt a bit.” you grumble out, rubbing your gut.

“Guess that’s point: me.” she tells you with renewed vigor.

You push yourself further, ascending past Super Saiyan again. “No more holding back then!” you yell out as your sparking, golden aura surges.

The both of you dash forward, trading blows for a short time. Videl might not be as strong as your dad, but she’s certainly got some variety to her skillset. She keeps moving that focused part of her aura around, blocking and dodging your attacks better, and returning with much more force than you can really feel coming from her. She’s got a bit of a height advantage, too, so trading blows is just a bit more difficult for you.

But you’ve got just one trick that’s hard to really dodge. After making one more guard attempt against an Eagle Kick coming from Videl, you let out an Explosive Wave that finally forces her back. “Th-third point... ha... haa...”

“I’m not done yet.” she tells you, getting up once more.

You ready yourself. You’re getting close... you can feel it.

She brings her hands back and then thrusts them forward, throwing forth a pair of Ki blasts. You spin around them to dodge, letting out a slash of Ki at her with your tail.

Moving the focus of her aura to her legs again, Videl jumps up and lands behind you. As you dodge an elbow strike, Videl starts to chat. “You know... I’ve been thinking.”

“About what?” you ask her, attempting a roundhouse kick to her side, one that Videl manages to block.

“My hair’s been getting pretty long. Kinda thinking I should cut it.”

She chuckles. “Thanks, Peppa.” She takes a fighting stance again. “How are you feeling? Any closer to breaking that barrier?”

You take a moment to feel your own Ki. Well... there’s improvement, but you need something more. You move up into the sky. “Videl, I want you to try one of your strongest attacks against me.”

She’s taken aback just a bit. “A-are you sure?”

“I can take it.” you tell her confidently, letting your sparking aura surge around you.

You see her move the focus of the Raio-Ten to her hands, and she starts building up Ki. “You better be, Peppa. If there’s any chance this is more than you can handle, I’m stopping it. Okay?”

“I said I can take it!”

While reluctant, Videl recognizes your confidence. “Kaaa...”

Calming yourself, you try to visualize what you’re lacking. It’s not the anger that allowed you to break past Super Saiyan, it’s something else. Something deep inside, something raw. You bring your hands forward, ready to catch the blast. “Do it!”

“Meeee.... HAAAAA!” Videl roars out, blasting forth a massive Kamehameha. You brace yourself, trying to take it. You catch the beam, holding it back with all your might... and realizing that she really isn’t holding anything back with this. You can barely hold on. But you don’t give up. You do everything you can to hold the blast back, trying to draw on your reserves of strength.

Gohan finally steps up from where he’s sitting, shouting to you with worry, “Peppa that’s too much! You’re going to get hurt!”

“I... can... DO THIS!” you yell back at him, not just trying to convince yourself as much as him. You grit your teeth. Think, Peppa! Would you be giving up if this were someone actually trying to kill you? You need... you need more power!

There’s so much going through your head right now. So much raw power coursing through your body. You try to calm yourself, and once you’re able to catch your breath, you close your eyes. “Dad said a couple days ago that Super Saiyan 2 was less of a mouthful than Ascended Super Saiyan...” You open your eyes and look down, grinning wildly as you point your thumb at yourself. “If so, I guess you can call this... Super Saiyan 3.”

You float down to Gohan and Videl, the two of them still stunned. “You... you really did it...” your brother repeats in mild disbelief.

Woah balance is... off a bit. You rub your head... wait a second. “...Uh, are... my eyebrow missing? And why is my...” You move your hand up, feeling your hair. “Why is my head heavier?”

Videl brings out a capsule, opening it to reveal a hand mirror. She presents it to you. “I’m honestly just as confused as you are.”

WOAH. That is... way more hair. It’s more than just spiked up, your ponytail’s grown by like... almost a meter in length. You tilt your head back and feel your hair reach below your waist. Maaaaybe not the prettiest look you’ve had, but... uh-oh. As you look into the mirror, the sheer force of your aura creates a tiny crack in it. You quickly hand it back to Videl. “Woops.”

While annoyed, she doesn’t hold it against you. Gohan walks around you as a few tiny rocks and pebbles seem to shake on the ground. “Where did all this hair come from?”

“Heh, well, guess I was right. Long hair IS better.” you declare with a wide grin. Your ribbon then snaps. “...Gonna need more of those. Stronger ones, too.”

Crossing her arms and smiling, Videl asks, “Well, satisfied, Peppa?”

You tremble with excitement, Videl getting out a camera and stepping back. “Peppa, photo.”

“Cheeeeeese!” Turning aroun to face her, as soon as you hear it click, you feel... strange. Your body’s still kinda shaking. Oof... were... were you still out of breath from that?

Goku and Maple teleport in, your dad looking at you with a smile that seems to stretch from ear-to-ear. “Haha! HAHA! Maple! Look, look! She did it! She did it!”

You stand proudly as your dad runs to you... but your knees feel a little weak. “Y-yep! This... is Super Saiyan... Th... Three...” No no no no what’s going on? Your strength’s fading. You fall on your hands and knees, your aura disappearing as you pant in exhaustion. As Goku reaches you, you look up at him... noticing your hair’s back to normal. Did you REALLY only last that long in this form? You hang your head. “...Sorry dad.”

Goku picks you up, spinning you around with him. “Sorry nothing! You reached it, Peppa! You showed it was possible!” Your dad hugs you tight. “So proud of you, kiddo!”

Back home, and after a large, satisfying meal, you talk with your dad about how you started to achieve the form, with mom listening in. She... does seem to find it a little reckless, but she knows Videl wouldn’t try to seriously hurt you. Still... “It’s now what I’d call, well, ‘worthwile’ just yet. It’s a lot of power, but I guess my stamina dropped like a rock once I stopped focusing on maintaining it. Really draining. Going to need a LOT more practice before I can get used to it.”

“Ah don’t sweat it kiddo. That you reached that level on your own is something else.” Goku tells you, giving you a pat on the head.

“The stamina issue worries me.” your mom adds in. “It might be more manageable with Fusion, but if it’s that draining, it could also shorten the time you could stay fused.”

“What did you feel when you started to lose strength, Peppa?” your dad asks.

“Just... this general feeling of exhaustion at first. Even when I reached it, my breathing was heavy. It only got worse from there, until soon I was just completely out of it, struggling to stand up straight.” You sit back on your couch, mom’s pet tiger snoozing beneath you. “I really did feel like I needed to actively maintain it.”

“Maybe you could use it as a sort of finishing move.” Gohan suggests. “When you need just that extra bit of power to end something.”

“Again, that stamina issue worries me. Even if you do use it like that, you’ll need to guarantee that your next move is the last one you need.” Maple chimes in again.

“Plenty to think on, then.”

In the next couple days, you meet up with Cocoa and Lime at a small cafe in West City, Videl sending you a copy of the photo she took, cleaned up as much as she could. You also show them the picture of Giru you drew, telling them about the situation there. “Crazy space robots and you getting hair down to your ankles. Sometimes I wonder how you don’t end up going nuts from these crazy things you get up to, Peppa.” Cocoa comments to you, taking a sip of her drink. “Though... guess having extra long hair wouldn’t be too bad, if you could style it.”

“Would be a total butt to manage though.” Lime adds in, twirling one of her braided twintails around with her finger. “And it’s just asking for someone to try and grab it when you’re off fighting.”

“It WAS pretty heavy, might be able to use it to smack people with like I do my tail.” You take a sip of your drink this time. “Anything odd been up in your areas?”

Cocoa rubs the back of her neck. “...Well, sort of. Pretty strange one. Don’t know if you’d believe it.”

You stick your tongue out and head out of the shop, waving to Lime. While taller than you, the height difference isn’t AS pronounced as it is with Videl, so it’s not too awkward when Cocoa grabs on to you as you fly off. You ask her as you fly, “Remind me again, what was your school play about?”

“It’s a the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, remember? I was trying for the role of Princess Kaguya. Might still keep it at this rate.”

You slap your forehead. “Right, right, the alien princess thing.” Funny. You know at least like, three alien princes and yet not a single princess. Well, aside from the skunk lady, Towa. Does she even count anymore? Either way, she’s a butt. As you approach, you try to sense if there are any people down at Cocoa’s school. Hmm... looks like there are a few, but don’t think they’ve started yet.

...You also sense a group of people gathered some distance away. You glance over. A bank robbery. It’s not too close to Cocoa’s school, but still worryingly close. As you arrive and set her down, Cocoa gives you a hug. “Thanks, Peppa. You... have the time to watch?”

You look over in the direction of the bank robbery. Feels like there are more cops closing in, and there’s at least one familiar presence headed in that direction.

Bear in mind, rawr Peppa's been focusing on "Going Further Beyond," getting into really intense spars with her family, some of the strongest beings out there.

You look over to Cocoa innocently, clapping your hands together. “...Iiiii could, but before I do, favor, really quick?”

She gives you a worried glance. “Before I say yes, does it potentially involve something dangerous?”

“Nnnnot for me in particular?”

Cocoa pinches the ridge of her nose. “...I’m going to regret this. What is it?”

“If I could borrow just a few bits of the wardrobe, something to hide my face...” you ask her meekly.

You can tell she wants to explain why that’s a bad idea, but a look over at her school causes her to shake her head. “Nothing expensive. Make it quick. DON’T. BREAK. ANYTHING.” She pokes you on the forehead as she emphasizes each word. “Clear?”

“Crystal.” you affirm with the kindest smile you can manage.

“If there’s a single scratch on anything I swear to God, Peppa...” Cocoa heads in, you stealthily sneaking in after her, heading to the dressing room. You spot a box of costume supplies, ones that you’re sure they won’t be using, and quickly throw together something. Plastic armor, dark sunglasses, bandanna, cape, okay, good to go!

Dashing outside, you try to hide your Ki as much as you can. “Raio...-ken!” you declare, sparking away from the schoolgrounds and towards the bank robbery in-progress. The police are pinned down, the robbers, four panda-men in total, have some pretty heavy-duty weaponry, high caliber machine-guns. Well, not for long. Like a fierce gust of wind, you dash behind, under, and around each one and fire a tiny Ki blast at each firearm... and for good measure, remove their belts. With the weapons broken and their pants around their legs, the robbers’ bravado vanishes. They haven’t even noticed you’re here, perfect time to rescue the-

Oh crap THAT was the presence you were feeling. Launch’s coming! Run run run run run! Raio-ken back to the school! You head back just quickly enough that Launch doesn’t catch you... you think. A quick sneak back into the dressing room again to change out of your getup, you then head over to the school’s auditorium. And right in time, too! You see Cocoa nervously take the stage, gulping, but once the spotlight’s on her, she seems to calm herself. She recites from her given script with ease, her dialogue sounding like it’s natural for her. It’s... honestly really impressive.

Clapping starts as she finishes, both from classmates and from the faculty. You grin proudly at her, and she seems to notice, smiling back at you. Aaaand then you hear someone yell out from the dressing room, “Gyah! Damn static!”

Your grin becomes less prideful and more forcefully innocent. Cocoa still smiles, but her brows lower. Hey, you kept your word. Not a scratch. Staying a bit longer for the rest of her classmates to finish their bits of practice, Cocoa ends up coming over to you once they finish up. “What was it, exactly?”

“Ah, just helping a few people out.” you state. It’s technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Shaking her head, Cocoa walks out with you. “You could get in serious trouble for that kind of thing, you know...” she mumbles.

“Son Peppa.” an older woman’s voice calls to you, a figure standing at the school’s front gate. One you recognize veeeery well. “Just what kind of thing is she talking about?”

“H-hi Mrs. Launch...” Crap. She couldn’t have seen you, could she? “W-well, you see...”

Her eyes narrow. “The funniest thing, the Pistols for Pandas gang was down the street. There was a bank robbery in progress. But before I got there, looks like someone managed to disarm them...” She pulls up a notebook, checking over it. “And... pants them.”

Cocoa turns her head toward you, squinting. You have to wonder, if their name is Pistols for Pandas, why did they have...? Wait, nevermind, just don’t think it out loud. “D-did they happen to catch who did that?”

“Reports say there was a ‘tiny bolt of lightning’ that did it.” She closes her notebook. “Maple’s on the other side of the planet. Would you happen to know anything about this, Peppa?”

Could try to weave a lie about taking up a tutoring job, selling math to... no, you’re enough hot water as-is. Your head lowers. Busted. “I’m sorry, I won’t do it again, I promise...”

Launch sighs. “Kid, listen, I can understand jumping in there and trying to play hero like your mom and dad, but this isn’t really a game. They might not be able to hurt you, but if you take one wrong step, go a bit too far, not act quickly enough...” She closes her eyes. “I’ll let you off this time, kid. Just please, please, don’t make me repeat this conversation.”

“Yes ma’am.”

“And so ends your illustrious superhero career.” Cocoa comments.

With a pout, you tell her, “Shush.”

Launch pats you on the head. “Tell you what. Four years down the line, if you still want to do something like that, I’ll be more than happy to support you, kid. Until then though, no more vigilante justice, costumed or otherwise.”

“Not a thing. This does look suspicious though. I’ll write up a report of it back at the station, thanks for the tip, kids.”

“Not a problem, Mrs. Launch!”

She ruffles your hair. “And I do mean it about giving this a try when you’re older, kid.”

“Officer Peppa, huh...? Might not be a bad idea when I’m all grown up.” You smile at Cocoa. “Bet I’d look pretty cool in uniform.”

“Sorry, I can’t really picture it without holding back laughter.” she responds teasingly.

You stick your tongue out at her. “Yeah yeah, you’ll see.”

“Still, thanks for the help today, Peppa, and for sticking around for my part.”

Grinning and with your tail swaying happily behind you, you tell her, “Aww, it’s nothing. And you WERE pretty good, I must admit. You’ll have that part in the bag.”

“Thanks, Peppa. Good luck training for your Tournament.”

You give her a thumb’s up. “Same to you. Just don’t be TOO surprised when I get declared the next Champion!”

Launch laughs. “Don’t get too cocky, kid. You’re gonna have some tough competition for that title.”

Thrusting both your fists into the air, you yell out, “Bring it on!”
