“I did not know”
The courtroom is silent for a little while. The scribes stop in their work and look up.
“Come again?” asks the judge, his azure eyes crackling with lightning

“I did not know that reanimating the dead calls the soul back into the corpse, imprisoning them in a corporal shell, forcing them to helplessly watch as they carry out orders. I did not know that summoning and binding demons spiritually contaminates the world, regardless of how well they are bound. Nor that there was a ”
Nothing is said again for a little while. One of the guards lets out a whisper.
“He is telling the truth.”
It is more of a surprised thought that slipped out, than an exchange of information. Everyone in the Court of Haven can smell lies and half-truths from a hundred pace.

"What about cheating death, exempting yourself from the cycle of life and death, and turning yourself into an undead abominaiton?"
"That was an accident. My bad really. I should have read the small print warnings."
"Read where?"
"The grimoire I've inhereted." you say, pulling the book out of your robes - somehow they are still on you - "It's.. oh."
The book's old brown and slightly worn cover have been replaced with pure obsidian, and now it reeks of some foul and dark substance that eminates from it.
"Well it wasn't like this down there..."
“I see. Do you have anything to add?”

"My father worked the mines, until the day it took his life... stole him from his only son, and stole him from his wife. And I swore upon his grave... someday I would make things right..."
"So I learned how to bend the natural order. I learned how to make the dead move. And I watched as they withstood all the hell we put men through... with reanimated hands, there's not a task we couldn't do. “I had to stop the plague! The infection spread, no cure was in sight. Eight out of ten cases ended up deadly, and almost everyone who tried to move the bodies got it a few days later. I had not other choice but the reanimate the dead. I did not enjoy digging up the graves, or barter with otherworldly evils to get a cure for the already infected ones! I may have went a bit further, but I never harmed anyone intentionally.”

“What is the sentence of the jury?”
The assorted angels who have been waiting patiently on his left, close their eyes. There seems to be a communion unseen by the mortal eye between them. It lasts for ten seconds or so, then they open their eyes in unison.
“The majority of the jury have come to the same conclusion: the accused is guilty.”
“Hmm. And the sentence?”
“Six centuries in Purgatory”

You can't believe this. After everything, all the struggles, sacrifices you've made. The shame you had to carry on your shoulder. The good name your father garnered by toiling in the mines diligently been thrown away, your mother coughed her guts out as you were powerless to save her. After being an outcast in your own society, a society that YOU have saved, that could live because of YOUR sacrifices...
It all comes down to being sent to one of the worst sanatoriums in existence.
“What of the unfortunate circumstances of his?” asks the judge
“We took it into consideration, but in the end it was always his choice. His responsibility. But we have ruled purgatory over hell.”
“I see” the judge closes his eyes” As a judge, I have no choice but to submit to the ruling of the jury.

“For all it's worth, I am sorry. My only intention was to help my home, and those who were important to me. I merely took the opportunity that I have seen viable. And what else was I supposed to do?”
“The plague have been instigated by one of your nobles, to eradicate the slaves of a rival house. It was completely mortal in nature, and should have been fought withing those paramenters.” replies the jury angel.
“What?!”
“He passed trough here around a year ago. I assure you he received an appropriate punishment”
“I see. And the souls, that I...”
“Freed with your death.”
“I see... I have nothing to add” but this is not right, you think to yourself.

“But this is not right” says the Judge.
The angels of the court look around in confusion
“Excuse me lord?”
He stands up, and the room is filled with his booming voice, seemingly coming from every corner. He opens his full wingspan, shrouding all with incandescent light.
“BY THE POWER VESTED IN ME, AS A SERAPHIM OF JUSTICE I CLAIM THIS SOUL AND ALL THE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT LIE WITH IT.”

“You can't be serious.” the spokesperson of the choir says in disbelief “He is reeking with abyssal energy! That accursed tome had such a profound effect on his very being that a manifestation of it came with his soul!
The giant flame shrinks back to mortal comprehension, as the Judge replies.
“I understand it looks bad. I understand that the hard rules deem him worse than unworthy. But you are young, you will learn that sometimes it is the principle of justice. Court dismissed!”

The courtroom seems to dissolve into a white, cloud-like softness. All the angels disappear from view as well, departing in the form of light. It's only you and your benefactor.
“Well, first of all, I am obliged to tell you that by the right of Free Will, you are permitted to refuse our arrangement, and can take the sentence of the court at almost any time! Understand?”
You nod.
“Now, I have a mission for you, but I'm sure you have questions first. I'll do my best to answer them.”

“Well first off, thanks. I am not sure what you did, but I feel like my butt is saved. Speaking of which, what did you exactly do?”
“Judgment comes to all souls. I am one of those who get to judge along with plenty of peers, and plenty of laws. However the sacred Free Will, and my position as a dignitary of Haven allows me
a way to make the judgment less rigid, as you have seen.”
The two of you take a walk on the pristine green fields, rivers of unearthly beauty flow beside you, and peaceful wildlife is all about.

“Now your past sins, are my sins as well. And it is up to us to make them right. Well buy 'us' I mean you. Which brings us to the matter at hand.”
He stops and turns to you.
“I think you could do a lot of good if you are given the chance, and I believe that will do good when you are given it. I believe you'll prove worthy of this opportunity, and eventually Heaven. Even in the eyes of my peers.”
He continues to walk on.

“So, about your task; I am not allowed to help everywhere I can. It is the way of things. It stops powers equal to mine but opposing in nature from doing wrong everywhere they can as well.
You however are exempt of such rules. There is a world, on the verge of disaster, I want you to do your best to save it.
Note when I say 'verge' it could be anywhere between a month and a decade. I am not allowed to disclose the full nature of the issue, or the time.”
“There is nothing you can tell me?”
“I am already pushing it.”
“So I am doing all the work”
“Never said it was going to be easy.”

“How did I got here? My memory is a bit hazy on that. I remember trying to fix that lake which was cursed to be frozen for eterenity.”
“I have to sadly notify you that that Lake of Flame is not a popular among the populace, but it makes for great stories.”
“Oh”

>both success and figured out
“Wait, my sins are yours? What did my sins cost you?”
“Oh nothing. Yet.”
“So what happens if I fail?”
“Well, we are both on trial then.”
“So six hundred years of Purgatory for both of us?”
“Oh no. Let's see, your old judgment, worsened by the fact that I gave you a second chance... divided by two, adding the complicating factors..., well just try not to die in the first fifteen minutes, that would be very embarrassing. It would be worse for you, but definitely not without risk for me either.”

“You're willing to trust my definition and judgment of 'good' just like that?”
“Absolutely, and no. I know that you can tell the difference between right and wrong. I know you have good in you. And remember; this isn't just about you, or even me. It's also about all the lives that world holds, or the consequences that come with the falling of that world.
Besides, I don't expect you to live like a saint. You can cuss, indulge in your pleasures, or be a little violent. Even kill if it's in legitimate self-defense, or be sentenced by local law enforcement. I won't say all will be forgiven if you help those souls, but it will weigh a lot on your second trial”

“So what about my powers? It's half the reason I've got into trouble the first place. I also don't like the look of this book anymore.” You hold the tome that appeared in your hands out of thin air, and you could swear you can hear grim cackling in the back of your head.
“The book got destroyed when you set yourself and most of your undead servants on fire. That thing is the ephemeral imprint of it that attached itself to your soul. The soul of the thing, so to speak.”
“So....”
“I'll have to tear it off of you. It is quite malicious. Could try to take over, and invites no sympathy.”
“And my powers?”
“Well that's the rough part. It has tainted you, and while I am happy to report you are no different for it, your spiritual energy is. The only real way is to either have you go trough reincarnation – which would get you as a newborn, making you effectively useless, and unaccountable – or long years of inuring yourself.”
“I don't understand”
“There will be lot of complications. What kind, I cannot tell. The power will no longer be unholy, or a sin to use, but it will still be mostly negative energy. I'll explain it once I see more clear. For now, chop chop.”
>>
>>2933477
The process is quite painful and you are not sure how long it takes. A piece of your soul is torn off. Numbing yet painful, emotionless yet deeply touching. You can feel the angel's fire burn away the corruption that leeched off of your spirit, and yet fueled it. You can still sense the power that you have gathered over the years, lessened and transformed. You can feel your power taking a new form, one that is closer to your heart.

So, necromancy minus the 'necro-' part. Binding of souls and animation of corpses without the souls or the corpses.

...Golemmancy?
>>
>>2933579
Sort of an option. I didn't want to add that because I felt like it's a more knowledge-oriented magic than innate one. Like mixing potions.

Fair enough. I imagine early, instinctive golemmancy might more emphasis on the process of the animation of small, temporary minions rather than the actual crafting of more permanent golems. But it doesn't seem likely to win, so the point is probably irrelevant.

You can feel the elements in you. The earth in your bones, water in your veins, air in the lungs, and fire in your heart. Even if the last three things haven't been part of you for a while now.
Finally, you come to your senses, and find yourself laying there in the meadow.
“Well congratulations. You have experienced what is it like to give birth. To twins. At the same time. For three times as long. I am sorry there was no faster or easier way without some permanent damage to you.”
By the time you stand up, the pain completely fades.

“I feel, fine?”
“Pain can exist only briefly in Heaven. Anyways, your magic transformed, I can see it. You'll be back to full power in no time. You have talent for this, I have seen that too. But you must know that the taint of the grimoire still lingers, filling out your spirit.”
“Is that bad?”
“It is still a sort of 'negative energy'. You'll have easier time destroying than to creating, tough practice can counter that. People sensitive to it might judge you badly, and you could give a bad impression. Then again, other creatures might react positively. Hmmmm. This might actually come handy. Anyways, try to stay true to yourself, and act what you feel is right. Without the bad influence of that secondary soul, this energy will slowly transform into your natural one. It will be up to you what kind of energy will that be.”

“So what now?”
“I'll mention three more things, than I'll see you off. Work is piling up.”
“Shoot”
“Do you understand everything, and how are you with first impressions and improvising?”
You reach the end of the meadow. Beyond the edge of the green grass you can see lofty clouds, and the endless expanse of stars.

“I see. Well, don't worry, the situation won't be as intimidating as it seems at first. Just go with the flow.”

Before you can finish the sentence, a giant blue hand slaps you down, and clutches into his grip. You feel yourself being crumpled into a ball. Although you feel no pain from it, the pressure is a bit concerning.
The angel steps at the edge of the clouds, and swings his hand around like clockwork. Again, and again, until it looks like one blue ring on his shoulders. Then he loosens his grip.
You plunge into the endless expanse, and can hear a faint “good luuuuuuuuu” behind you.

“Then turn away away” replied the little imp
“Hey, no, don't you dare, turn back! You just have to reach out, and we could rule!” the other head of the ettin protested.
The pair were in the throne room, gingerly circling around a body on the simplistic stone throne. Their object of interest was simple; the burning gauntlet on the skeletal hand.
“I'll take it, I'll be the new master, and I'll finally have all the shiny jewelry I want” says the imp, reaching for the gauntlet, and pulling his hand back from the flames for the fifth time. “I just have to find a way past this...

The pondering and the whining was interrupted with great cacophony, as a hole is torn into space, and a screaming ball of fire demolishes the throne, and the dried skeleton, enticing screams from all four heads, including the newest arrival; you.

You seem to have come out unscathed from the experience, as you were transitioning from immaterial to material. As you stand up trying to regain your footing, you can feel something wrapping around your hand tightly. A steel gauntlet, emanating a low-burning fire have fused into your left hand.

“AAAhhhh” - the scream of the bat-winged creature quiets down as he forcibly closes his jaw - “aaIi mean of course the Overlord lives! Weee uhhh have came to ask what the cook should make for your greatness”

“Where am I?” you look around the room. The walls are jagged and unpolished cavern walls. Behind the flimsy stone chair you've fell trough there is a large, heightened pit filled with burning coal. The red light gives a menacing aura to the place.

“In your mighty throne room your majesty!” says a little blue-green creature with webbed limbs before you. There are two wing-like appendages growing from his back, but they seem to be too heavy for flight.
“And where is the throne room?”
“In the, ehh, east lowlowsectionofthemountain” he sputters the last part as quickly as he can with quiet voice “But that just means it's closer to the ground where true power comes from! Yes yes.” he adds in a hurry

“Where the exit is closer!” adds a pot-bellied giant to it. He stands around nine feet tall, and while only has two actual feet, he also has two heads.
The other creature gives him a dirty look.

“If this is a throne room, then where is the my THRONE?!”
“It's broke.” says the less sharp head “You mean it couldn't handle the sudden majesty of our overlord, right brother?” adds head no.2
“You three are idiots. Get your worthless hides out of here” - you are not sure where this sudden bout of rudeness came from, but you decide to ride it - “and get me someone with at least half a brain up! Don't make me come down myself.”
“Yes lord” the say in unison
“And get me paper and quill! And your names!”
“Riben!” replies the scaly creature
“Jego Widefoot” says the aggressive head “Jogo Widefoot” adds the more benign one
The two back out of the room trough a cave wall.

It takes twenty minutes or so, and there is a faint knock on the cave hole's side.
A very short person pokes his head in from the corridor. His slightly purple skin is framed by a white hair, and his uninterested eyes of light gray scan the room they finally stop on you.
“Hello madam, have you called for me?”
“Yes, sure, come in.”
The person steps into the room revealing to be a lot taller then originally imagined, quite normal height in fact. The illusion came from misunderstanding that he is holding his head around the navel, leaving the purple smoke that emanates from his neck flicker behind him.
“The minions were quite incoherent about your request, something of a quill? I have to sadly notify you ma'am that our treasure currently cannot afford such extravagances.”
As soon as the varlet finishes his part, little flame pillars rise and fall from the pool of coal behind you, giving a whirring noise.
“What is that?”
“It seems that the alarm systems madam have requested are functioning well. We have enemies at the gates.”

“What manner of enemies?”
“Are you alright madam? Your voice is a bit different..”
“Nevermind that. We are under attack. Who are they and what do we know about them?”
“Well we are close to the exit, maybe it's one of the roving band of mercenaries. Then again, the main alarm didn't go up, so it is prudent to believe that one of your rivals decided to come early this week.”
“How will our defenses hold?”
“Defenses madam?”
“Guards, traps, locks.”
“Oh, I don't think...”
The conversation is interrupted by an eruption, and heavy footsteps. The butler steps out of the room to see what it is, and you follow behind.

The next room seems to be some kind of hall, with a long stone table dominating most of it, and several smaller tunnels coming out from it's side. The only door was on the other end, and has a hole in it now. An armored figure, adorned with spikes stands in it.
His head held back in laughter, hands on hips, and takes a wide stance.
“Bahahaha! Bow down before your new master! You vermin have no proper lord anymore so now you belong to ME! First, pile up all that hag's items, over here! So I may secrete on it! Second...”
“Excuse me, I have to ask you to leave!” approaches the dullahan fearlessly
“And you are fired!” the armoured figure says waving a wand, and hitting your servant with a blast of ice, knocking the fellow down.”

“And you!” he turns towards your direction “You will...”
A second of silence steps in, as neither of you know what to say.
“JEZEBEL! HOW?! You are supposed to be dead! Deader!”

If we show our hand now it could incite minions to act. We have no idea what our strength and power is like, and I’m sure this Jezebel has a reputation that could be benificial for intimidation. If we are going to reveal our true self it will be done when its only completely necessary.

but we clearly did not kill her. The minions already saw her skeleton and then we simply poofed in. Luckily they are stupid and fearful and believe us to have resurrected most likely. the gauntlet was protected by a fiery barrier, one that even a imp was afraid of, and imps strike me as the type to resist fire. Butlers are known to be loyal to their masters(he would make a good confidant).
We really should had questioned the minions at the beginning harder, I don’t trust them and they definitely knew more then they let on.
Honestly the biggest problem is the lack of reaction to ‘jezebel’s revival’ among the minions. The only person surprised is the guy whos trying to take over.
Also the imp and the ettin strike me as really dumb minions, I doubt simply taking the gauntlet would let something as pathetic as a imp rule over everything. Plus since we know jezebel died she clearly wasn’t invincible, which means we aren’t too.

Okay so the only consistent majority is asking the butler if they are okay and who is the intruder, so this is a short update

You peer over the table, as the varlet's body and head lay on opposite sides now.
“Are you alright? Who is he?”
“Ehhhm, oh I am, eh, fine?” he replies with confusion. “That's Lord Gash. I believe he is the old owner of your Gauntlet of Flames ma'am.”

“You know what? I don't care! I have come all the way here, you had no guards to watch you, the door was falling out of it's hinges, and there you are with my possession, you thief! I'll have you drop dead, take back what is mine, and lay claim to your.. your... dining room? Whatever, it's my dining room now. Hand it over.”

Right I should adress that in the meantime. In the OP I've established that demons are bad, and If I am being honest, that fact slipped my mind when I was writing that bit.

So the canon is that Riben is a "water imp" sort of watergoblinbs. Little creatures with scaly skin and an extra pair of appendages that help them swim.

“No, you hand over yours!” you shout throwing your magic in his direction. Wave of water surges towards your armed intruder. He however have anticipated the defiance, and answers with his own magic. Liquid ice lashes out to meet your magic.
“Very well, it is a formal duel now! Die you wretch!”
The water quickly freezes, leading straight to you, so switching is the only options. Channeling the gauntlet fire rises to melt the ice.

The two waves of energy merges into each other with a deadly cascade of light. Smoke fills the room, and you use the opportunity to duck below the table, disappearing from sight. You can hear Lord Gash's footsteps.
“I know you are here. What is it Jezebel? It's not like you to run away.”
“Surprise!” you shout blasting him in the back.
You duck behind the table again, but with a loud crack, the armored figure steps onto it, and strides onto your side. Upon the charge, you elect to retreat into the room behind you, filled with filthy bunks made of hay. There seems to be no one at home.

“I have you cornered!”
“Took the words out of my mouth”
A handful of spark falls onto the ground. The fire quickly runs amok, and you try your best not to get crushed under the martial onslaught. Luckily the room is furnished with plenty of dry junk to feed the fire. Smoke starts to take it's toll on visibility, filling the air with choking clouds.
The heat rises steadily, but it burns you not.

Your opponent stands among the flames, looking at you clearly. He makes his charge in your direction. You grasp deep within you, the very last embers of your power, and choke the room in a raging inferno. After that there are only bits and pieces in your memory. There was tussling, Gash torn off one of your arms, you poked an eye out... then dark.

You are not sure how much time have passed, but when you come to, you are covered in a thick layer of ash.

As you get up from the ash and pebbles, your left hand feels heavy. It seems to be covered in molten metal, giving it quite heft. The glove gave in to the insane energy usage of expending so much heat, and protecting it's wearer at the same time.

The rubble seems to be a bit inconsistent. Upon further inspection, it seems that the floor collapsed, and all of you fell down a level. Seems like a tunnel rather than a functional room. Luckily you are not covered by any big rubble, but Lord Gash have been less than fortunate. The torso part of his smoldering armour sticks out from a large pile of rocks.

The lower body is covered in the heavy granite rubble. The helmet itself seems to be intact, although a bit charred. Same goes for one of the greaves, and the gauntlets. His red cape got stuck during the fall and was torn off of the back, covering the top of the rock pile. The apparel of your defeated opponent looks like standard armour, but there is some invisible hue around it. A gem in the right gauntlet has a blue jewel embed in them, that' glows with special interest.

“Go-go”
“No way, we almost got caught last time. What if it's fake again?” you recognise Jogo Widefoot's complaining voice
“You fool-fool, if they are dead, and we can't offer something of value to the next master, we'll be toast. But if we do-do, we could have some luxuries.” the second new voice speaks in great haste, like it's their natural sounding state
“I'll pretend I haven't heard that.” replies the valet
“So what else should we do?” Jego Widefoot asks impatiently like always
“We wait. If nothing happens for another hour, we should try to keep an eye out for another employment”

You start to pull off the apparels from your rude intruder, while you shout up to scold the minions.
“I am still kicking you vultures. Stay where you are, there is a tunnel here and I am going exploring.”
“But M'lady, it might lead somewhere!” protests the dullahan
“That's the idea!” you reply finally pulling off the source of the blue light
A little quiet sets in, as you take the rest.
“Ssshould I bring your coat ma'am?”
“I already have one thank you” pluck the cape perched atop the rubble, and donning it around your collarbones.
“It might be dangerous.”
You take a look across the ruined exterior, where you just brought a fiery hell on top of your head while dueling your freshly acquired rival, sacrificing a magical artifact you just found.
“How terrible.” you enter the tunnel part “don't go anywhere while I'm gone”

The tunnel takes something twenty minutes to cross. You can feel your newly acquired gear being attached to you. It doesn't change size or anything, but you feel as if you were a warrior fully dressed instead of a near-skeleton putting on some flimsy clothes. On a hunch you flail with your hands wildly, and see that nothing slips despite the lack of musculature. Seems they were magical after all, tough you are not certain how protective they'll be. You start to fiddle with the gem itself, but it's less responsive. You want to try further however the tunnel comes to an end.

It exits into a humongous cave, bustling with people. People might not be the right word, as every single passerby seems to look inhuman, and very very varied. From nine feet tall giants, to two-feet critters. Eight-legged, no-legged, and a lot of inbetween. They seem to bustle around, go about their business, and inspect market stalls.

>Browser the markets
Descending upon the steep slope, you enter the crowd, easily getting mixed in with the locals.
You have to push trough between two huge snakemen, and have to watch a few gremlings so you don't kick them up accidentally. But you get used to the “dangers” of the market after a few minutes of navigating. There are merchants shouting, eagle-eyed guards watching – some literally – and lot of commotion is going about. Lot of the varied freaks are so strange, that you the talking-walking skeletal man feel pretty normal.

The stalls are full of curiosities. Fruits, delicacies, and things you only suspect to be. Clothes, armors, weapons, and you even stumble upon a little square where apparently cockfights are held with what looks to be beaked hedgehogs.
You like a pair of shoes to go with your new armor, but upon reaching into your pocket you realize you don't have any manner of currency on you. Or any manner of pockets for that matter. You are also a bit turned around with all the broswing.

I am not sure know how to mover further from this so I'll just ask the previous options again.

You find a stand for magic jewelry, and remember that four stands down and one fountain to the left, there is one with throwable tarot cards. Then the right there is guy who sells cages, and past beyond it the slope leading to your cave.

“Excuse me, this is not a renovat- , oh it's you M'lady.” the varlet attentively awaits where you left him “I have procured a ladder made out of our finest rope for you”
“Where are the others?”

“Well then, can I make two claims for dominions?”
“I see that your Ladyship, feels positively ambitious today. Who shall it be ma'am?”
“Lady Jezebel's”
“But... my... Lady… uh...” there is visible discomfort on the dullahan's face
“No, no I am not”
“...”
“Since a few hours ago” you reply to the unasked question
“Oh.” a short pause “Oh.” and a sigh of relief “Oh good, me and the others started to get worried about the Lady's out of character act. Some of us thought that dementia got to her. I suppose I am unemployed then again. Ah.”
“Well perhaps, I could find myself in a need of a temporary help”
“Oh certainly, tough we should move fast, before someone else sniffs out how Lord Gash met his demise, and they try to take his place for themselves.”

The two of you make your way trough the crashed front door, and across the considerably better-lit tunnels. You see a few doors on your way, of different size, material, and locks, and meet plenty of armed guards, and a few passerby as well, but mostly just tunnels stretching into the darkness.
“Where do these doors lead?”
“Other domains, vaults, traps, and mercenary dwellings, and such. New arrival in the Spiral City, Ma'a...?” he is stopping short uncertainly.
“Sir. And yes, you could say so. Quite new in fact.”
“Well don't worry you'll get used to it fast, especially with being a warlock and all.”
You decide not to press it yet, but make a mental not to find out more about warlocks later.

Twenty more minutes pass, when your new butler speaks again
“If I may be so inquisitive sir, why even bother killing Lady Jezebel?”
“What makes you say that?”
“Well, the Lady... haven't been the most influential of the overlords. As a matter of fact, she haven't left her dwelling in years. Longer, as I hear. Her domain was small, I knew nothing of her that was overly valuable, and most of the other minions just came because she never gave them orders, and they didn't have to be independent.”

We could say we made a deal with a powerfull entity and the powerfull entity made us an overlord.

If we say it like that then they will think we made a deal with a devil/eldritch god for power and not something way way way worse than that.

this

I just happen to have possessed her already dead body it seems

No, her skeleton became dust upon impact. You are still the same as you were in "life", and minions can't tell the difference between the reculse overlord who barely left her room, and a new magic skeleton. And why bother? You had the glove after all.

so, there'sa new skelly in town, I'm very offended they couldn't tell the difference,we are clearly a male skeleton!

“She left and I came in”
“I don't understand, sir”
“She was already dead. I'm guessing whatever Gash thought he did, probably worked before I got there. Then you've seen the rest.”
“I see. Well, you should know that it doesn't matter. You came out on top sir, so you get the spoils.”
“Good to hear”
“And we have arrived”

A large iron gate stands before you. A lot better fortified, and spikey-er than Lady Jezebel's. The butler goes and lifts the grimacing door knocker, thudding it against the iron frame. Three times, two times fast, three times slow, then five times alternating between fast and slow.
“It's a little code we had, that you are arriving.” adds the valet satisfied with himself
The door opens, leading trough a corridor. Corridor, and not a tunnel. With floor tiles, less rugged walls, and crystalline lightsources. Along the sides, creatures stand in long lines. Most of them are short, grubby little creatures of varied form of misshapen. A duo of different monsters await you at the end of the line. The blue-green creature who introduced himself as Riben, and a bipedal with the face of a bulldog.
“Ah good, the takeover seem to have been largely successful what do we have?”
“Thirty-six worker, a dungeon -equipped with shackles- a bear-pelt, an armory with nine shortswords, and the usual. We didn't check Gash's room, yet. And this fella. Tell him.”
“Foreman, Forrman.” salutes the bulldog, his loose lips hanging about “I used to keep this rotten bunch in working order, under Lo.. the rotten Gash. I would offer me services to the great overlord. I knows these scum like me back of hand.

“How many do we have with our minions then?” inquires your butler
“Fourty-eight” in which the dullahan whistles in response
“Lady Jezebel never had that many.” he declares, but after a few uncomfortable look from the other two, he coughs, and turns around, lifting his head high.
“Listen up, you two toothed worms! Your new master and overlord has arrived! All hail lord! Lord?”

write-ins are always an option, but I'll veto anyone who wants to be Lord Buttfart or xxX_PussySlayer_Xxx

you know what, nevermind, a naming vote was a bad idea

“Finneas”
“All hail lord Finneas!”
“All hail lord Finneas!” comes the barely illegible answer from the not too coordinated army.

Lord Gash's domain consisted of seven different rooms, between ten and twenty meters. Two was for the minons, another was the armoury, a third one was some hatchery for chicken and eggs. There was also some manner of meeting room, with a large stone table. And of course the dungeon which was bigger then all the rooms, and been lined with schakles, and a stretcher bed.
His private residence is behind the throne room, which is a quite moderate area with a stone floor, and a stone chair with a tall back, and spikes on top.
“I think I'll leave with your occupation my lord. I'll have to oversee the new minions, and start them to get working. Let me know if you need anything, or if you want to execute Foreman Forrman.”

The private room gives off the same curious aura as the other one. You haven't noticed it before, but now after moving about, the two have some distinct energies about them that other areas do not. No sitting skeleton, or magic glove this time though.
Curiously, a stone basin filled with water takes the center of the room. Aside from the empty shelves, there is a bed, a chest, and a wooden plank on one of the walls, full of throwing axes.

The chest has no lock on, so the lid opens easily. Beneath it, you find a bag of little crystals, each around the size of a pebble. Somehow you know there is 346 of them in there. There is a book, covered by thick layers of dust. It is titled; Red & Blue beginner magic. There is also a large jar of some black substance. The label says; “Armor and spike polish”

Taking the book into your hand, and turning it's paged, you are a bit relieved that you can read it somehow. It talks about two specific “colour” of mana.
“Red mana is associated with the harnessing and exerting of strength, durability, rage, and with specialty in destruction; fire. Blue is the harnessing of control, and modification. With enough practice, ice.” you read the pages
So this is the basis of magic around here. The angel warned you that this might happen. Remembering his advice you read further

“Using blue mana to try and control the movement, and push it to it's absolute, causes the ice. In magic it is always easier to let the absolute of the magic happen. Fine control is an advanced form of sorcery. For example, slowing movement deliberately with blue mana, is a lot more difficult and costly than trying to stop it completely, creating the ice.”
The book goes into further theoretical commentary. By the pristine condition of the pages, you guess it haven't been read often. By the end you finish the book, and understand quite a bit about the work of magic. And you didn't even had to attach a malicious entity to your soul!
>[Gain Skill: Red Mana 3, Blue Mana 2]
>[Gain Spell: Minor Fireball, Icebolt, Flame Armor,]

Upon some conjecture, you realize that the blue jewel in the gauntlet is porbably some magnifier of blue mana. (Item bonus = +1 Blue Mana while on person).
You are still not certain of the basin tough.

You approach the stone basin, that is etched into a pillar. The waters are quite murky, like no one has touched it in a long while, but as you get closer they begin to swirl.
There is something at the edge of your perception, like a feeble force pushing within arms reach. The final steps are made in reaching the water, and you feel the need to push back. On an instinct, you submerge your hand in the water, and it all goes foggy.

Suddenly you feel as if something jumps down from your shoulders diving into the water, and pushes like a cursory limb. It becomes one with the liquid, and the gray, emerging waterless vapor slowly settles on the room. You feel as it dispersed across all your domain, invisible to the eyes, yet clearly there for you.
You slowly realize that it's been there with you, ever since you have entered this world.

Gazing around the room, nothing seemed to have changed in particular. You hastily leave, and look around in the nearby areas, thinking it was some manner of defense system, releasing poison gas. Yet nobody is falling on the ground, gasping for air, or frothing from the mouth. The invisible vapor have almost dissipated, leaving nothing but a faint smell, that no nose could get a whiff of.
