I'm in the mood to run a capeshit quest, and I'm not too picky about the specifics. Decide between these options, and we'll move on from there.

> Setting:
> Comic Book- Along the lines of Marvel or DC, vaguely similar to our earth, but there's super-powered heroes, villains, and vigilantes duking it out, and a whole lot of gonzo shit thrown around everywhere.
> Real Deal- A slightly different earth that was identical to ours until some arbitrary date in the mid-2000's causes 1-in-10,000 people to develop superpowers and everyone's shit gets fucked.

> Your Alignment:
> Superhero: Whether you're using your superpowers to make the world a better place or get rich and famous without flushing your morals down the toilet, you're on the side of the law, and you don't like killing or causing collateral damage if you can help it.
> Vigilante: Whether you're using your superpowers to avenge a personal loss or satisfy your version of justice, you're on the wrong side of the law for what you're convinced are the right reasons, and when you're dealing with Villains, you prefer permanent solutions.
> Villain: Whether you're using your superpowers to enjoy yourself at the expense of other people, try to cope with your mental illness, or defy the law and get filthy stinking rich because you don't give a shit about morals, you're on the wrong side of the law, for all the wrong reasons, and murder doesn't make any difference to you.

> Your Power Level:
> Street Tier: Your superpowers are strong enough to go toe-to-toe with armed gangsters or the neighborhood police, serious firepower and other capes are a serious, possibly lethal threat.
> Mid Tier: Your superpowers are strong enough to go toe-to-toe with a cartel of armed gangsters or a state's police force, firepower isn't as much of a concern, and capes on your level are rare.
> Cosmic Tier: You won the fucking superpower lottery, and your superpowers are absolutely fucking bullshit, anything short of an entire third world arsenal is laughable, and there's two, maybe three dozen capes total strong enough to give you a run for your money.

It's the Real Deal, and you're a Mid-Tier Villain with a Vigilante bent, or a Vigilante with a criminal disposition or mental illness.

Time to determine your superpowers. You're Mid-Tier, and can choose. Do you want to have a guaranteed 30 Power Points, or do you want to roll 2d20+5 and take the result?

> 80: Disguise Maker: Given a few minutes, you can change the appearance of anything you touch, including yourself.
> 71: Brain Drain: You are surrounded by a field of mental slowness, and those within it gradually lose their intelligence. The damage is temporary, but it takes time to heal.
> 61: Psychic Constructs: If you focus, you can project your mind to create constructs of psychic energy, the durability of which depends on your willpower.
> 49: Meditation: Given a few minutes, you can enter a mental trance during which, you are completely at peace, and sleep and heal three times as quickly
> 26: Undead Physiology: Your body is dead and will gradually rot to the bones. You cannot feel pain, no longer need to breathe, eat, or sleep, but you can't naturally heal.
> 73: Elemental Kinesis: A specific element of your choice is attuned to you, and you can summon and control it at will.
> 104: Power Copying: If you encounter another super, you can copy one or more of their powers for several hours, afterward, you'll have to contact them again.
> 92: Probability Manipulation: You gain the power to multiply or divide the odds of something happening by a factor dependent on the power's strength.

Not a half bad powerset for a Vigilante/Villain. Let me explain how the power points system stolen and slightly altered from a dead quest works.

> Superpowers range on a tier system from tier 1 to tier 20. A tier 1 power is enough to give a slight edge over an ordinary citizen, a tier 5 power is enough to confront a squad of trained professionals on equal footing, a tier 10 power is enough destroy a small town with little difficulty, a tier 15 power is enough destroy a small country with little difficulty, and a tier 20 power is enough to pose a threat to human civilization.
> 1 in 10,000 people have superpowers, generally, the more superpowers someone has, the weaker each one is, and vice versa. The vast majority of superpowers are between tiers 1 and 5, with uncommon outliers ranging from tiers 6 to 10. Powers at tiers 11 through 15 are extremely rare and widely feared. Powers between tier 16 and 20 range from fleetingly extraordinary to one in a million, and are spoken of only in hushed whispers.
> To determine which tier your superpowers fall under you have 28 power points, as rolled earlier. Power points can be spent to upgrade a superpower's tier at the cost of 1 per tier between tiers 1-10, and 2 per tier between tiers 11-20. If you have an unwanted superpower, you can sacrifice it for 2 extra points.
> Additional power points can be gained in-game through violence and extensive training, which you'll learn more about as the game continues. Once certain powers have reached a specific tier, you'll get the chance to spend power points on closely related powers, and if you wish, you can spend 4 power points for an additional roll.

Sure we dont want to tone down our powers? We are quite OP no matter what. Or make a commitment of only using certain powers when absolutely necessary - keeping our cards close to our chest.
>>
I've got a four page essay due in six hours, so it'll be a while before I can post. Vote while I'm gone, and if there's a tie, I'll randomly select. Keep in mind, Probability Manipulation is absolute bullshit, but it's not necessarily enough to handle budget bin Superman or a coordinated military strike on your apartment.
>>
>>3036748
> Sure don't want to tone down powers
Not really. Having a specialized niche that you excel in is better than being mediocre at a bunch of things.

> We are quite OP no matter what
How so?

> Or make a commitment of only using certain powers when absolutely necessary - keeping our cards close to our chest.
Let's allow the OP to explain our circumstances before we start planning how we should be behaving.

>>3036778
Not necessarily.
I contend that having to creatively solve situations with one powerful tool makes for more substantial gameplay than having a poor tool for every conceivable situation, but having to deal with a 60% chance of failure no matter what you choose to do.
At that point you're just rolling dice.

Your starting power-set is:

> Elemental Kinesis: Tier 2
> Probability Manipulation: Tier 3
> Disguise Maker: Tier 14
> Power Copying: Tier 14

You are able to manipulate an element of your choice to a limited extent roughly as damaging as a .38 pistol, multiply or divide the odds of something happening by three times, perfectly mimic an individual's accent, appearance, and mannerisms down to their fingerprints and retina with nothing but a photograph to work on, and mimic up to three superpowers you've personally witnessed at a time at 0.75 times their original potency for up to a month, two at their full original potency for two months, or one at 1.25 times its original potency for up to three months.

Against ordinary humans, you are a mediocre combatant with slight luck manipulation, but you are horrifyingly good at disguises, and extremely dangerous if you happen to encounter or align yourself with another super. Not half bad, if I do say so myself. Because it would be unfair to deny you all the chance to weigh in on an extremely important decision, I'm going to need you to vote on the element you're attuned to.

> Choose:

> Fire
> Water
> Lightning
> Air
> Earth
> Metal
> Darkness
> Light
> Explosion
> Sound

I'd prefer that you didn't choose Lightning, since DC quest's protagonist is already an electricity controller, but I'm on-board with anything you decide.
>>
>>3037026

Since it is tier two, I'm guessing it's probably only good for basic distraction, obscuration, and misdirection.

So pretty much the average anon, huh? Don't mind this, except personality/past. Getting rich is all cool and dandy but I'm missing some deeper motivation.

I'm thinking a shooting in which our dad, mom and sis were killed cause a policeman was too trigger-happy. Whatever the truth, our guy now has a strong attitude against people in formal authority positions (this goes for self-appointed superheroes too). Is this too edgy?

In any case, I imagine the first months of our new-found life spent mostly hedonising.
>>
Name: I don't care
Gender: male
Age: early/mid twenties
Appearance: 6'1", short dark brown hair, light brown eyes, barely tamable messy brown hair
Occupation: student (law), unpaid intern at a law firm (mostly checking for grammar and spelling errors in documents while learning the trade)

Background: Born and raised in the big city in a better neighborhood. We believed in justice and forgiving our former enemies (like son goku), and wanted to help the community by becoming a lawyer. However, we had a somewhat rude awakening to how the world works. At first we thought that maybe we could help from the inside of the system and continued our path as a lawyer, but that illusion fell throughout high school as well. When it came to applying for colleges our grades were good enough and it will pay a lot, so why not become another cog in the machine and use it to our advantage?

When we got our powers we got a little bit of hope back, that we can change the world for the better, but we only liked the idea of being a super hero, but we found that doing actual heroing is equally hard work and even when we try our best we get blamed for everything that goes slightly wrong which made us bitter and even resentful towards some of the heroes who seem to pull it off.

When we stopped a higher level drug sale we figured that there was no reason for us not to simply keep the money while leaving the drugs as evidence.

Your name is Charles Wolf, failed lawyer and unskilled laborer extraordinaire. Twenty-four years old and almost impossible to pick out of a crowd, all you have to show for it is a dingy apartment in downtown Albuquerque and a gig flipping burgers in one of the nastiest McDonald's you've ever set foot in.

It's not like you care, you could work here a hundred years and barely crack assistant manager. Used to be one of the hardest workers in the industry, but having teens with half your experience and a fourth of your work ethic promoted over you puts a damper on that. You've stopped caring, if your supervisors won't notice you either way, there's no reason to put in any more effort than the bare minimum. Which is what you're doing now.

Working the register while your screaming 5'4, 500 pound boss gets in your face and spits all over the front of your uniform. This isn't the first time this has happened, and you know she'll find someone else to screech at in twenty-odd minutes, but it's still irritating. None of the few customers care enough to stare and you're starting to contemplate the benefits of pan-handling when something hits you out of nowhere.

A blinding white light fills every facet of your being and you collapse, instinctively clutching your head in a vain attempt to stop the agonizing, splitting headache. And then, as quick as it came, the light and the pain is gone, and something feels... different.

Your face, your skin, and even your personality seem malleable, you almost feel you could reach out and touch the light from the ceiling, you have a powerful urge to mimic *something* and suddenly, luck isn't something so mysterious.

You feel *stronger* than ever before, and staring at your boss's fivehead, it's like you've opened your eyes for the first time. You start to get up when she kicks you in the ribs and somehow starts screaming even louder.

> "Dafuq you doin' on the flo' shithead? I don' pay you sit on yo' ass, get dafuq up n' get to scrubbin' out 'dem toilets 'fore I get a belt on yo' ass!"

Suddenly, your dead-end shit job doesn't seem to matter, and your seething disdain ignites to an overwhelming urge to take your petty revenge!

Without thinking, your mind reaches out, grips slight chance and twists it to certainty. She goes to kick you again but you sway to the side, her foot goes wide and her blubbery bulk slides on the floor. The foot on the floor slips on a burst ketchup packet, and she goes tumbling, slamming her skull straight into the counter-top with an audible snap. The shouting stops, she goes limp, and your former boss's corpse slumps over.

> +2 XP

You're in shock, and not entirely sure how that happened, or what just happened, but there isn't a shadow of a doubt in your mind that you caused it. The customers still aren't paying any attention to you, you realize the cash register is wide open and your only coworker, Deshawn is nowhere to be seen.

Fuck, your boss is dead and you fucking killed them. FUCK! Shit shit shit, calm down Charles, don't do anything you'll regret later. Think rationally, there's no proof you did anything, you just have to call the police, report an accident, and wait. You pull out your flip phone, dial 911, and wait for someone to take you off of hold.

Three minutes later, you hear a click and a bored-sounding woman in her late thirties replies.

> "This is the Albuquerque Police Department, what is your emergency?"

You stutter slightly, you're still reeling.

> "T-this is Charles Wolf, I've j-just been involved in a f-fatal accident."

The boredom in her tone shifts to genuine concern.

> "I'll send an agent. What's your address sir?"

You start to reply when you hear the sound of furious rage and the phone dropping. There's panicked screaming, and what like a sounds like a rod shattering a skull, and gunfire pinging off solid steel before the call goes silent.

They hung up, and you get the sinking feeling in your stomach there won't be any police coming to investigate the manslaughter.

She's fucking dead, you can't just leave a fucking corpse behind the counter for someone else to find. You've got to get Deshawn, fill him on what went down, and close the store early. Being careful not to touch the boss's corpse any more than you have, you head in the back to see Deshawn expertly flipping patties. He's always been an honest and friendly coworker, he'll understand and help you out.

> "Deshawn, don't panic, but the boss slipped on a ketchup pack and broke her neck."

He turns with a half-smile on his face, flipping patties on muscle memory alone.

> "Mayne, save da jokes for April Foo's day."

You insist.

> "I'm serious, she's fucking dead."

When he sees the look on your face, the smile fades and he raises an eyebrow.

> "Real shit nigga? Dayum, we gon' have to get da customers outta here n' call an ambulance 'fore sum lil' kid sees tha' shit. M'kay Charlie ya handle da phone, n' Imma get dis place locked down, aight?"

You nod, and after taking a few seconds to turn off the grill, he rushes past you and you hear him curse. Meanwhile, you dial the hospital phone number and explain the situation, leaving out the details of the police station call and how you think you were responsible for the killing.

The receptionist believes you and informs you an ambulance will be at the McDonald's in fifteen minutes or less. You head to the front of the store and see it's almost empty, aside from where Deshawn's laid the boss's corpse on the floor and is holding her head in place the way it was when she broke her neck. He nods when he sees you.

> "Aight mayne, I got everybody out n' no-one wanna bitch 'bout it. You call da hospital?"

You nod, and he gives a terse smile.

> "Real shit nigga, but I think they gon' need a hearse fo' her... Boss lady was a real bitch sometimes, but ain't nobody need to go out like that, y'know? Shit, ya call da regional manager? Dey gon' wanna know what happened."

Five minutes later, you're off the phone and greatly relieved. The regional manager understood your circumstances, told you to take a week off to get over it, and offered a two dollar pay raise if you decide to stay.

Soon enough, the ambulance shows up with two paramedics. It takes them less than a minute to diagnose her as stone-dead, and you're still reeling from the disaster, but you did everything you could, and that's what counts.

If the restaurant's closed, there's no reason to stay, and besides that, you feel... Excited. When you were on the floor, blinded by that piercing white light, something in you changed for the better. More than anything else, you want to get home, dig deep inside, and see what you can really do.

> "Deshawn, this is all a bit too much for me. I'm going to go home and clear my head."

He nods, and jots something down on a post-it note.

> "Fo' sho' my nigga, Imma bounce. Here's my cell number, ya need to talk, jus' ring me up, aight?"

You fold the note, slide it in your pocket, and say,

Deshawn grins.

> "Anytime Charlie. Peace out."

With that, you part ways and leave the McDonald's in opposite directions. You can't afford a car, but your apartment's ten miles away so you hop on a bike and get riding. The commute feels quieter than usual, but it's an hour past noon and that's to be expected. Luckily you don't run into any trouble, and little over forty minutes, you're in the parking lot.

You're living in a dingy and cramped three room apartment on the fourth floor of an inner city tenement. It's not glamorous and your neighbors are assholes, but it's yours, and opening the door you're happy to be home.

>>
>>3040174
what is usually more cheap ?

i like the idea of robots, but the other things are fine too.
>>
>>3040183
Probably tanks, the former two options are traditionally more colorful and complex. I don't know much about miniature construction, but I'd imagine that more details equals more work, and by extension a steeper price.
Though as I said I have no expertise regarding this matter, and I'm not sure if this really matters in the grand scheme anyway.
>>
>>3040200
then tanks , 3 or 10 of them in total. And at least one that we are working one, just so we have something more to do at home.

i guess the other decision is historical or sci-fi ?
historical are probably more simple and there is plenty of real photos on them, for help on the work.
>>
>>3040174

I meant, more what brand of models you dabbled in but a broad archetype is fine.
>>
>>3040220
and sci-fi is more creative, probably ?
>>
>>3040222
Oh.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about model brands, or the differences between them

I imagined that we'd pick up the cheapest damaged or poorly painted models secondhand, without regards for type and make, and restore them back to a competent level of quality.
But if I had to choose a type, I'd go with Fantasy or Sci-fi.
>>
>>3040243
should we roll a dice for the options you have made ?

It would be a 1d4 or 1d3 if we want to have less options.
>>
>>3040263
Sure. I'm not married to any idea in particular. However you guys want to handle it is fine with me.

The inside of your apartment reflects your income, beside the bare essentials, bed, table, chair, bathroom, microwave, and dresser, it's empty. You've been budgeting for years, and while you don't have much to show for it, you hoped it'd eventually be enough to leave for somewhere better, wherever that may be. Some might consider you a cheapskate, but they don't understand that you don't spend money on unnecessary things. For the most part.

Sitting on top your dresser, there's a dozen half-finished miniatures. Something about sitting to paint models for an hour or two after a hard day's work soothes your nerves, and it's the only real luxury you allow yourself. You're not a miniatures hobbyist per se, you don't play any games with them, or keep up with any lore, you just enjoy painting and restoring used miniatures is the cheapest way to do it.

But enough about that, something happened at that McDonald's that the laws of physics say that shouldn't have happened, and you want to know more. Already, you can feel a sort of presence inside of you, it's feels alien but it's a part of you in the deepest way possible. If you think, you can flex it, like a fifth limb, only you sense it can do so much more.

Your jaw drops and you stare for several seconds, stunned, until it fades away.

When the spark fades the room's lights flicker back on, but you flick the switch off, grit your teeth, and try to light it up again. This time, it comes easier, the presence- no the force inside of you bends to your will and as you struggle with it, twenty minutes pass. Finally, you manage another spark but this one's a perfectly round sphere, you stare in shock and wonder, then realize that in a way, it's a part of your psyche. The light isn't the only thing you can control. No, there's another part of the force, more intense than the light, it's chaotic and ever-changing, and fluctuates in unpredictable ways every passing moment. You remember what happened in the McDonald's, and in a flash of clarity, realize that when you bend the force to your will, random chance... Isn't so random.

> Probability Manipulation upgrades to Tier 4!

There's power in you, near-infinite potential, and it cannot be contained. You instinctively understand that enhancing the force will become more difficult each time, but it's nothing that can't be overcome with training, or killing others like you, and absorbing the shattered pieces of their force into your own.

You check the watch, it's 2:58, and you have the rest of the night ahead of you. Hmm, you could always do some more modelling, or try taking advantage of your chance control at a casino, or... The realization hits you like lightning out of a clear sky, and stunned, you fall to the floor. Holy shit, you have fucking superpowers, and you aren't the only one out there that does.

The mounting rush of excitement is beyond anything you’ve ever experienced. You have superpowers, and you can’t believe it, so you conjure another light to make sure. The sight of is is exhilarating, vanishing it with a snap of your fingers is energizing, and the knowledge that it finally doesn’t matter whether or not you’re noticed fills you with ecstatic glee! You can’t stay inside on a day like this, you’ve got to get out and move!

It doesn’t take you ten minutes to throw off your uniform and get into your usual outfit, a versatile greyscale hoodie, a pair of cargo pants useful for holding miniatures and materials, and a pair of well-worn sneakers that ran you $20 at a thrift store. Moments later, you’re out the door and on the pavement. The sun is high in the sky and there’s next-to-no traffic, will makes sense, given it’s 3:00 on a Tuesday. You walk until your calves burn and you can’t feel your ankles, but you’ve got an ear-to-ear shit-eating grin and you just don’t care.

You don’t run into anyone, or at least, no muggers or wannabe superheroes. It’s 6:20 by the time you get back home and you’re drenched with sweat. Superpowers or not, you’re not bulletproof, or at least, you think you aren’t, and you don’t want to be out past sundown. You don’t know how many other people have superpowers, or long this has been going on, or hell, even the full extent of your own abilities, but you’re so damned happy you couldn’t care less. You flick the switch to off, collapse on your bed and lay there, marveling at the flickering lights above. Only yesterday, you were a depressed wage slave, a cog in the corporate machine, but now, you have the power to dictate your own destiny!

Disguise-maker is nothing to scoff at.
On top of being a powerful infiltration and stealth ability, appearance mimicry in conjunction with our power mimicry allows us to easily defame enemy superhumans and sow chaos and confusion among the general population.
A formidable set of powers indeed.

Oh, it does say that.
Well, I'd assume that the power can only effects the appearance of objects, not their physical qualities.
For instance, we can make a rock look like a diamond, but at the end of the day it's still just a rock. If you were to build a drill-head from it, it would look like a diamond drill-head, sure, but would perform as though it were made from stone.

You’re not quite in the mood to go for another walk, and beside that, you’re curious. You’re not the only one with superpowers, the rest might not be so low-key, and they might’ve made the news. Pulling the chair to the center of the room, you turn the television the channel 12 and sit inches from the screen. Five minutes of watching a wide-eyed and frantic reporter interview a shivering and terrified policeman beside the Albuquerque police station is enough to answer your questions. No, you aren’t the only super, and yes, some have made the news.

> “Can you describe the suspect?”
> “Y-yeah, he was a b-big guy, easy six foot three, least two-eighty pounds…”
> “And, what did he do?”
> “H-he fuckin’, I can’t, I just fuckin’ can’t.”
> “It’s okay, we’re here for you. Take a deep breath, and tell us what happened.”
> “A’right, so this guy, he’s a real piece’a work, killed some lady for her purse a week ago, he resisted arrest and almost killed an agent, we found illegal firearms on him, and a meth lab in his apartment, the whole nine yards. We’s keepin’ him locked up ‘till court could take him, right? So, earlier today, ‘round noonish, this fucker- Eh…”
> “It’s okay, we saw the video, we understand.”
> “F-fine. I barely believe it myself, but I know what I fuckin’ saw. This bastard, he starts screamin’ about how he’s getting ripped apart by cold steel, so Danny heads over to go check on him, right? The bars on the fuckin’ cell RIP OUTTA THE FUCKIN’ FLOOR and shatter his fuckin’ skull, and this thug steps out, lookin’ like he’s made of steel, laughin’ his ass off, and the bars, they- Fuck, fly fast enough to dent concrete straight through the receptionist’s skull, my partner’s ribcage, and a window.”
> “...”
> “And I pull out my glock, right, and I shoot him center-mass ‘till there’s nothing left to shoot, and he’s just laughin’ his ass off. So I reload, and magdump him, and he didn’t care, i’s like I was shootin’ blanks, and he walks right up to me, spits in my face, shoves me to the floor, and walks right out that door.”
> “That one right there?”
> “Yep, tha’s the one.”
> “And where is he now?”
> “Ma’am, I have no fuckin’ idea, and I don’t think our police department can take him.”
> “T-thank you for your time.”

The screen then shifts to video footage, showing a literal man of steel telekinetically controlled steel bars to massacre three police officers in cold blood, shrug off 20+ rounds of 9mm at point-blank range, and walk out of the station with a shit-eating grin identical to yours. All of this happened barely thirteen miles away, and with a start, you realize he could be anywhere by now. Those innocent men and women beaten to death or torn apart, you don’t know if you’re furious or terrified, but it’s definitely a tense feeling.

> (1/2)
>>
>>3043098

You keep watching, and see four other stories. Thankfully, none of them are as bad as the slaughter at the police station, but government officials are concerned, and top scientists can’t make heads or tails of any of it.

> The US government has put out a $200,000 reward for any superhumans willing to enter a publicly accessible registry, and has tripled funding to law enforcement agencies across the country. So far, only a handful have signed on.
> In Portland, a pudgy super calling himself Plas-Man has declared a war on crime. He had a striking neon-green costume prepared, claims he is inspired by the fictional superman, and is teleporting around the city vaporizing known crack houses.
> In Toronto, a series of devastating earthquakes has destroyed the city hall and caused untold billions in damage. It has been linked to what the media is calling the ‘Super Phenomenon,’ but no-one has any idea who is responsible.
> A horrific accident involving a cruise liner and an iceberg would’ve ended in tragedy, if it weren’t for a super calling herself Valkyrie, who flew to the scene, used super-strength to fly everyone on-board to safety, and if the rumors are to be believed, healed those suffering injuries from the incident.

Charles decides to be extremely careful with using his power from now on, so as to avoid drawing undue attention to himself.

You have three close friends in Albuquerque, and two acquaintances.

> Uncle Mike, a licensed optometrist and workaholic in his mid-fifties. He has a nice suburban house, three grown daughters, and a happy enough relationship. You don't know each other that well, but family's family, and once or twice, he helped you pay rent when money was tight.
> Mitchell, an early twenties waiter at a high-class restaurant you used to do dishes in. You got along well enough, then you were laid off. You'd forgotten about him until you caught him doing laundry, you both realized you shared the same tenement, and soon became fast friends. He's built like a linebacker and a bit heavy on sports, but he's a bro and has your back.
> Cousin Louie, a nearly obese redneck in his early thirties. He doesn't have any kids, or been in a relationship longer than two weeks, but that's understandable, given he's a compulsive hoarder and you're convinced he's on some sort of substance. He's borderline retarded, but knows everything there is to know about firearms and is always trying to get you in the hobby.

> Peter, a long-haired hippie in his mid-forties. His apartment's in the same hall as yours, most of the time his eyes are bloodshot or he's borderline unconscious, and he usually reeks of weed. He's paranoid and doesn't trust most people, but he claims you give off 'good vibes.'
> Dylan, a late teens kid that's into modelling. You met at the local gaming store while you were fishing for cheap miniatures, and hit it off over a historical tournament. He'd be a 40k fan if he had the money for it, and you're skeptical about his home life, but he's friendly enough.

We shouldn't tell anyone that we are a metahuman. Most definitely not a scrambled, old hippy who we are casual acquaintances with. If he is truly a level 100 spiritual arch-sage then I suspect that he'll be able to correctly identify our current superhuman status by reading the changes in our aura.

Today's been a long day and your mind's racing a hundred miles a minute. You need to calm down, kick back, and focus on painting some miniatures. The global shit-show can wait, you've got gray figures and fingers itching for a brush. Fantasy's a bit close to home right now, so you grab a sci-fi figure and get to work. It's methodical and repetitive, nothing like the soulless monotony of the McDonald's, here, the time you take has purpose, and as the color starts to set in the endless, slow strokes soothe your soul.

> +2 XP

You finish a handful and set them on display on your tabletop. For the first time in awhile, you really hit a groove there, and if you wanted to, you could've done the whole set, but then you'd nothing to do later tomorrow. When you lay your head to rest, you feel a confluence of fate and your inner presence pulses. It's not a bad feeling to drift away to, and before you know it, the alarm's going off.

Charles wakes to a buzz of tension ebbing up and down his back. There is a sort of pulse to the sensation. You slide out of bed with a faint, buzzing tension that dissolves when you splash a few handfuls of cold water on your face. Random chance and flickering lights aren't the only things that bend to your will, and deep inside you're burning to push your limits and find out what you can really do. But that can wait, for now, you need to check the news.

> In Milwaukee, the crime rate has exploded many times over, with five banks and nineteen stores robbed in broad daylight. Reviewing the footage, police are unable to find who's responsible, only a rapid blur in and out of the structures. Many are concerned a criminal with super-speed is behind the robberies, and others feel some sort of mind-controller responsible. Either way, the implications are terrifying.
> A sudden thermonuclear explosion has all but incinerated the Fiji Islands, with no warning whatsoever. The educated guessers, or 'experts,' claim an unstable super is responsible, but international tensions are rising as paranoia grows.
> On the outskirts of Trondheim, Norway, a super with the power to control ice and lower temperatures to an obscene degree has gone public as 'Kjoleskapet,' roughly translating to, 'The Fridge' and has vowed to use their powers to fight climate change. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they already have a GoFundMe with a goal of $500,000,000 USD by this time next month.

Never-mind the news, if you want to eat you've got to make bank, and the best way to do that with Probability Manipulation is to hit up the casino. Not a physical one though, too many wins from one table could draw too much attention, and that's not something you're willing to risk. Instead, you'll hit up the library, find a computer, and get to spinning those slot machines. Hmm, maybe you'll snag a scratch off on the way there.

Little over five hours later, you're $53 USD richer. $28 of it came from the scratch tickets your meager pockets could afford, with three out of three wins, and $25 of it from an intense game of blackjack in an online casino. For some reason, you can't seem to directly alter a computer program, but material gambling's fair game. You wonder why for a few minutes, then shrug. It's like your force is missing some crucial part it needs to interface with software, and you don't know if it's a good idea to dump much more money into virtual card games.

It's 1:15.

>>
>>3044279

I didn't forget, that resulted in the massacre in the Albuquerque police station.

>>3044363

You do not, and yes you can, but keep in mind, costumes tend to draw attention.
>>
>>3044376
Ok let's proceed with putting a costume together. If we have spare lets find a way to meet other "supers" or search for nearby acting classes
>>
>>3044363
Do we need a costume, or have a reason to need a costume? Charles has yet to consider the idea of pursuing vigilantism, heroism, or villainy
Besides, our Disguise-maker power basically is a dynamically adjustable costume. Even though Charles hasn't discovered it yet.
>>
>>3044389

>>
>>3044390

>>
>>3044403
I am down for that. I think we if position ourselves well, we could become a leader of the super who lack order and training. The more supers we have in our group the more powerful our copying will be
>>
>>3044410
This is what I am thinking.
Judging purely from our power set, this character seems to be best suited for undercover cloak and dagger operations. Basically a spy, infiltrator, or saboteur.
>>
ok... we know there is one metal guy walking around.
Against metal we need someone with super hot fire powers.
We need a super hot chick that accidentally burns off her clothes who needs to team up with someone whose powers are to dress someone up
But what are the odds we find a partner who is reliant on us but not the other way around?
>>
>>3044410
My fucking writing holy shit
>>
>>3044421
We can move places anytime we want and same goes for the discount bin Magneto or any other super for that matter. However I cannot but agree with teaming up with a stereotypical fan-servicey fire chick. Now only to find one.

You may have superpowers, but if you plan on doing anything flashy in public without federal agents making a stop at your door, you'll have to separate your civilian identity from your super self. Effectively, you'll have to learn to be someone else, and since you're strapped for cash, the best place for that's a community college. If you could duplicate that trick with the lottery tickets, four-five times in different places, you'll have enough to be sitting comfy for a month.

In a way, controlling chance might be cheating, but it's no skin off your back. It's not like there's any sport in it, these lotteries are rigged from the start and if you can fleece a month's rent out of them, you will. Two and half hours of biking to gas stations and corner stores fly by, and you spend every red cent in your wallet on scratch off tickets. Even with your probability manipulation, half are losses, and you barely manage to eke out $92 USD in profit.

> +1 XP

If you could figure out some way to conceal yourself, did some research, set up a schedule, and planned it all out, there's not a doubt in your mind you could haul in five times that much. But you're busy, and for the moment, you'll have to be satisfied with the wide bulge in your near-empty wallet.

Another hour flies by before you find a community college offering acting classes, and you fork over ten dollars admission without a second thought. Under a false name, of course. It's 4:45 by the time you arrive, but class is on until 8:00, so you stay for the lecture. The rest of the room is mostly druggies, hipsters, and homeless who came for the snacks, but the teacher's a hard-nosed old hag with a gnarled cane and a glare that could scrape the paint off a school-bus, that vocally doesn't care about the 'Super Phenomenon' and demands the class's full, unabridged attention.

She goes on all night on the principles of throwing your voice and facing the audience, and it's not very helpful, but there's another class going from 2:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday. That's two days from now, and free to attend since you've already dumped the $10 USD. Honestly, it's a bit boring and you're wary of the way the teacher swings her cane, but you're sure next time it won't be so bad, and besides, it beats McDonald's any-day.

It's 8:00 PM on a Monday night when you leave, and you're a lone, visibly unarmed young man, biking in the inner city. You pull in an alleyway, climb off your bike, and stop to catch your breath when you hear a bat hitting the palm of someone's hand and you realize you're in deep shit. In retrospect, you should've been more careful, but hindsight's always 20/20.

You could run out the other side, but you'd be leaving your bike and giving them the chance to pursue. >>
>>3045243
Okay, what about manipulating luck to have a loose brick fall on the head of the mugger with the knife. That should knock him out and the shock of that happening could give us the time needed to flip our bike and drive away from the other mugger.

>>3045249
those are still our money and this punks could still make us a vegetable for fun. And no amount of probability can save us there. You don't speak, instead you turn from the bike and square up to fight. These types of thugs, they're likely to kill you for the hell of it, wallet or no, and you aren't taking any chances. Switchblade scowls and baseball bat chuckles,

> "Looks like we got usselves anotha dumb-ass. Wha' you say we-"

They've done this before and rush you without warning. If you didn't have superpowers your goose would be cooked, but as it is, these two are in over their head. With a flick of the wrist a ball of light flies from your fingers and explodes in their faces, catching them completely off-guard.

They're blind and totally disoriented, you have the advantage. Even more-so, given you're luckier than any man has a right to be.

You active your probability manipulation rush in, not giving them a second to recover. Stumbling, switchblade slashes and hits nothing but air, and you just so happen to duck, an instant later a panicked swing of a bat shatters switchblade's jaw and leaves him down for the count.

Dropping to the floor, you sweep the thug's legs out from under him and jump to your feet as he eats pavement. Running on instinct, you tear the bat out of his hand, and bring it down on his skull in a devastating blow. You hear the wood crack, feel something give, and realize that you've either killed the man or put him in a lifelong coma.

However, I'm going to lock in my vote, which will be to sink both points into Probability Manipulation.

>And as for the thugs, now that you've beaten them, what do you want to do?
Nervously check for CCTV cameras or witnesses. If you see one: call an ambulance and the police. Otherwise: Make sure they're dead, take their wallets and the switchblade, and go.
They've seen too much. Better to not leave any loose ends.

> How do you feel about defending yourself like this?
Exhilarated by the rush of adrenaline and proud of having stood up for himself, yet also somewhat concerned. Charles feels as though this should distress him more. In movies, usually if an ordinary person is forced to kill someone, they gag, or cry, or lament their violent acts.
Charles on the other hand, doesn't feel much of anything. He doesn't feel good exactly, but he isn't guilty or remorseful either. These scumbags were trying to mug him ten seconds ago, and most of their injuries were self inflicted anyway, so as far as Charles is concerned he owes them no sympathy.
>>

Why the fuck would we take the switchblade off them is beyond me. Hint: It's got the blood of one of them on it

> Loose ends will be the death of us in this quest I am sure of it! If we can kill someone away from.witnesses we should do it.
This.
Though trying to tamper with the situation to lead investigators to false conclusions seems unnecessary, and potentially more dangerous than just finishing them off and moving on. We already have our finger prints all over the bat as it is, and the longer we spend moving their bodies around the higher chance that we'll get caught by a bystander.
>>
>>3046218
Playing it safe is boring. Loose ends make the quest more fun.

Ingame perspective: It's only our second day of being a super and we just won our first serious fight, ever. We are not accustomed to this (not yet). We are not a vidya game character. It's not easy for us to kill in cold blood just like that (not yet).

I don't mind us being a stone-cold killer if you guys vote it in, but there should be a progression into that. It's not like a switch is flipped and we go from regular anon to hardcore villain in one day.
>>
>>3046218
What loose ends? One is with a broken jaw and will never speak again the other has brain damage. They won't tell anyone. And btw taking anything off them is stupid it's just asking for police to get our ass
>>
>>3046227
At this point, we probably have to take the bat. We've already touched it, so it could be tracked back to us. On the other hand, if we take it then that implies to investigators that there was a third party in this incident that fled the scene.
In my opinion, the latter has a higher chance of us escaping clean than the former.

Taking the bat would only overcomplicate. Albuquerque police department is in state of chaos and we are not the only super around. No one will bother taking prints off two maimed thugs. There's nothing extraordinary about this, why would someone even suspect a super involvement?

>>3046237
>Early on caution is best to.ften quests get detailed by devil may care attitudes
On the contrary, most anons min-max and take the most rational, safe choices like the robots they are. I mean, just scroll up this quest. What was voted on when when killed our boss back in McDonalds? What have several anons voiced when OP listed our acquaintances? What is the consensus in this choice so far?
>>
>>3046284
Being genre savvy is no problem imo.
Deliberately leaving loose ends for the sake of potential drama will bite us in the ass. Killing them costs us nothing imo
>>
>>3046284
> Taking the bat would only overcomplicate.
How so?

> No one will bother taking prints off two maimed thugs. There's nothing extraordinary about this, why would someone even suspect a super involvement?
Because, when questioned on how they got their injuries, the maimed thugs may mention that a super attacked them. If that were to happen then this humdrum assault case suddenly jumps up in priority for whatever government/law enforcement agency is presently trying to deal with the superhuman problem. At that point it is a simple matter to pressure the thugs for a description of their assailant and then refocus and intensify their investigation.
>>
>>3046237
Write what? A vague description of a guy who he saw in a dark alley and was blinded by using a flashlight?
>>
Reminder that murder is not something you can do easily especially if you are a normal human being with modicum of empathy, a sense of right and wrong and sense of guilt and considering our MC's reaction to accidentally killing his boss killing 2 guys lying on the ground without any remorse is simply out of character
>>

You are vastly overestimating the power of government.
>Taking the bat would only overcomplicate.
>How so?
Taking the bat is the same as taking the switchblade. We are now carrying not only hard evidence (blood) we were involved in that incident but also indirect admission of guilt (why did you take the bat?). It also hints at someone's involvement - if the police find the bat and switchblade at the scene it's two guys duking it out. If the bat and/or switchblade are missing the question "Who attacked them?" gets asked.

>when questioned on how they got their injuries
No one's gonna believe them. Hell, no one is gonna ask them. Besides, do you think they are gonna talk? They would only incriminate themselves.

>No one's gonna believe them. Hell, no one is gonna ask them. Besides, do you think they are gonna talk? They would only incriminate themselves.
What makes you think this? Superhumans have been showing up everywhere. Not a day ago, a super tore his way out of a jail cell, killing several police officers in the process.
Further, they're the victims of an assault. If taken to a hospital, they've going to be asked how they were injured, and they're going to say that a superhuman attacked them (obviously, when recounting the situation, they would omit the fact that they were trying to mug said super) because it is the simplest response, and also technically true.

Unless the muggers do what I described above. In which case, parties interested in superhumans may reopen the case and inspect the evidence more closely. Since Charles' fingerprints are all over one of the weapons, they'll come right for us.

> You are vastly overestimating the power of government.
Maybe. Maybe this incident will slip the net of local law enforcement. Still, I'd argue that it is better to be paranoid than to be imprisoned.
>>
Anons this isn't about playing psychopath we chose to be a vigilante/villain we are protecting ourselves from being identified or discovered in anyway. The resources the government will bring to bear to find us and others will be immense. All the government need do is put in a tip line and potential reward and broken jaw guy will give them them the first hint to our existence
>>
>>3046120
Kill them both with the switch blades, make it look like a mugging and leave. It is the first fucking day of the quest, lets not get our identity compromised or have people looking for us before we've even done fucking something.
>>
>>3046336
What this anon said. It is way too early to be taking risks like this because we didn't want to kill two mugging junkies.
>>
>>3046340
Addendum wipe fingerprints from bat using muggers clothes. Then kill both with new switchblade
>>
>>3046330
Let's assume they are gonna talk. Do you think they are the only ones claiming superpowers? Since yesterday, everyone and their uncle has been swearing by supers if it's convenient for them. Besides, there's no evidence of super involvement. It's not like steel bars are protruding from them, or acid ate them from inside or whatever. Our flashes of light and probability manipulation do not leave material evidence.

>Further, they're the victims of an assault
They are if we take the bat.

>>3046336
>>3046340
Why mix in third party when all the circumstancial evidence points to disagreement gone violent? As it is right now, no one is gonna ask "Who attacked them?". Furthermore, as >>3046340 said they would probably score positive on a drug test (if anyone bothers giving it to them) which discredits them even further. By killing them or taking the bat or whatever we are only getting caught in our own net.
>>
>>3046345
Make it look like they stabbed/killed each other or another junkie did it. They're junkies, they die in alleys all the time. All we need is someone to potentially listen to their story and we're opening ourselves to a whole host of issues. Kill them now, make it look like another mugger killed 'em and leave them in the gutter.
>>
>>3046345
Yes. It's been a day and some change. At this point, how many people could have had reason to invoke the 'supers dun it' excuse. Probably not enough for the police force to become so jaded as to disregard reports involving supers.
Further, the scenario you laid out doesn't quite add up.
So, these two low-lives get into a brawl and wallop each other good. An ambulance is anonymously called, and they are brought into the hospital. When asked by the attending staff how they were injured, they both use the excuse of a superhuman attacking them instead of blaming the incident on the person they were supposedly fighting.
>>
>>3046353
Can we not just use our photokinesis to destroy the bat anyway? Then use the knife to kill them both and throw it down a drain? Or leave it lying there, in one of their hands?
>>
If we are tearing ourselves apart over killing 2 junkies , we are definitely gonna fuck up later cause of muh morality
>>
>>3046359
According to the description of our powers (found here: >>3037026), our photokinesis is roughly as powerful as .38 pistol.
I'm not a gun guy, but that doesn't sound strong enough to reduce a wooden bat into a pile of splinters in a reasonable number of shots. Maybe if we pour our points into it?
Moreover, the additional flashes of light could draw attention, and finding an exploded baseball bat may rise an eyebrow with first-responders and investigators.
>>
>>3046360
If anything, it's a sign of a good quest
>>
>>3046369
Dun think so, when quests have this schizophrenic a split between what people want, it leads to inconsistent writing.

>>3046366

That's even worse, police will see someone tried to tamper with the evidence. Just leave the crime scene undisturbed. And btw stabbing them and taking the knife out of the crime scene is very suspicious and leaving the knife will obviously incriminate us since it will have our fingerprints
>>
>>3046381
Wipe the fingerprints and just place the bat and knife in their hands,so it has their fingerprints done

>>3046384

There reason is no reason to rob these soon-to-be-corpses of their shoddy weapons.

Moments ago, these men tried to kill you for the paper in your pocket and there’s no telling how many they’ve already killed. If you let them live, there’s a chance they’ll do it again and you can’t let that happen. You take the switchblade, and wrist trembling, slit its owner’s throat, then take the cracked and splintered baseball bat and cave in the back of the other’s skull. Not letting yourself think it, you use their clothes to scrub your fingerprints from the weapons and place them in their hands. Then, you steal their wallets because ironic justice is still justice and you need the money.

You step away from the scene and summon a glowing orb to survey the scene. This way, there’s no evidence you were involved, it’ll look like they killed each other, and you’re safe from discovery. They’re merciless killers that got what’s coming to them, sooner or later they would’ve run into the wrong man. You did the right thing, or at least, that’s what you tell yourself while you count out their $36 USD. It feels like you’re burning inside, there’s a lead weight in your stomach, the shadows are judging you, and more than anything else you want to get back to your apartment.

Thirty minutes later, you’re stark naked in a cold shower and a wave of nausea hits. You fall to your knees, bend over, and vomit in the drain. The chilling spray washes over your shoulders, forces the bile down the drain, and you break into tears for the innocence you’ve lost and what they forced you to do. You stare at the tiled floor, weeping and heaving until there’s nothing left to give and little by little, the guilt fades, leaving nothing but bleak numbness in its wake. You lay there for what feels like an eternity, you don’t know how much time passes and you don’t care. Eventually, you force yourself to stand, turn the nozzle off, and step out of the shower into the steamy air, forever changed.

> +1 XP

Breaking your boss’s neck at McDonald’s was an accident, but in that alleyway… You slit their throats in cold blood, smashed their skulls in violent rage, and stole their fucking wallets to help pay rent. You’re a killer, plain and simple, and no matter your reasons, deep down you know you’ll never be the same. It’s not just your psyche that’s changed, you can feel the force strengthen and a part of it you haven’t touched develops. Any other day you’d burn with curiosity, but as is, you can’t bring yourself to care. Ten minutes later, you fall into a dreamless sleep and wake up at 7:30 with a hunger in your stomach.

You don’t want to think about what happened last night, so you won’t. Instead, you’ll get something to eat and try to figure out what other secrets your inner force is hiding from you. You’re not in the mood to hit up a McDonald’s and you don’t have the money to waste on anything else, so you heat up some ramen noodles and turn on the television. Every station is broadcasting nothing but news on Day 3 the Super Phenomenon, and desperate to get your mind off of the alleyway incident, you tune in.

> In Tucson, Arizona, a gang of armed looters trying to take advantage of the confusion by robbing a convenience store were foiled by ‘Resonate,’ a super with diamond skin, and if video footage is to be believed, powerful sound and light control. So far, the super has cooperated with the police though he refuses to divulge his identity.
> In Albuquerque, New Mexico, the identity of the steel manipulating super has been released. He is Ennis Randal, 32 years of age, 5’11, and 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is a member of the Albuquerque Active Krew street gang, and goes by the street name ‘Bulletproof.’ The state is offering a $300,000 USD reward for his death, and a $500,000 USD reward for his capture. His current whereabouts are unknown, and if they see him, civilians are advised to flee if possible.
> In Manchester, London, 387 have been killed, and 425 injured in a terrorist attack on a pop concert. Three supers were involved, at least one with telekinesis and laser vision, and video footage shows them holding hands and vanishing after five minutes. Experts believe they teleported away from the scene, and they are currently at large. The UK government has responded by mandating the registry of superpowered individuals, but almost no-one has compiled with the legislation.

After finishing your breakfast, noting the information on Bulletproof, and coming to terms with the bad news coming out of the UK, you turn off the television and decide to explore your superpowers. You can control light to a limited extent and shift probability enough to roll a six four out of five times, but that’s not all you can do. There’s more, different parts of the force that you haven’t touched, and sitting cross-legged, tongue hanging out, eyes closed, you shut the outside world out, dig deep, and focus.

> (1/2)
>>
>>3047099

There’s a part of the presence that seems thicker than the light, and straining, you’re surprised to find it’s exponentially easier to control, and almost eager to exert itself on the world. You pull a piece of it out, letting your instinct guide you, and blink as you feel your bones shift and skin crawl. It’s not an unpleasant sensation, but it caught you by surprise and it’s deeply unsettling. Memories of the shower briefly forgotten, you rush into the bathroom and look in the mirror to see Uncle Mike staring back at you! You almost want to scream, but your flesh warps into a perfect representation of Deshawn and words unbidden come to your lips.

> “Dafuq is dis shit nigga? Aww shit mo’fucka, Imma shapeshifter! Holy shit, Imma see if I ca-”

The image of your coworker is replaced by Cousin Louie, and your fat face grins with missing teeth.

> “Sure ‘nough. Shit, if this ain’t the coolest thang I ever seen. Now how ‘bout...”

You feel your body heighten as hair bursts from every part of it, and you smile at Peter’s reflection.

> “Niiice.”

You spend the next three hours shifting into various reflections of people you’ve seen before, and find that you’re capable of mirroring custom, unique, probably non-existent people in exacting detail. There aren’t any limitations on who you can shapeshift into, but you find you aren’t able to change your body’s height by more than roughly a foot and a half, or its mass by more than forty or so pounds, and you’re unable to shift into any visibly inhuman forms or grow appendages. In addition, you’re able to mimic women, but the process takes a full minute rather than a few seconds, and you feel it’ll take plenty of practice to convincingly pull off female mannerisms.

Interestingly enough, with a bit of focus you’re able to change the appearance of non-living items, but unlike your body, not their properties. For example, you made your wooden chair look like a much comfier recliner, but it still felt as hard on your rear, and made a bar of soap mimic gold, but it was just as fragile and didn’t weigh any more. You’re able to keep your bodily changes indefinitely, but these illusions fade after half an hour, or last up to two hours if you spend fifteen minutes focusing on their creation. If illusory items are making physical contact with you, they last until you lose focus, but it’s easy enough to do so that their duration might as well be indefinite. You’re relieved to find you can shift back into your regular form on reflex, and are extremely excited by the power’s potential.

Being his most reliable form of income at the moment, Charles decides to head out on the town and pick up some more lottery tickets. Gotta pay rent after all.
On the topic of money, his thoughts turn back to the public bounty placed on 'Bulletproof'. Charles had to admit that it was tempting, A couple hundred thousand dollars would definitely keep him above water for a while. Though, presuming he is somehow able to kill or subdue this hardened, superpowered criminal, how could he receive the reward without surrendering his identity? Charles doubts that he would just be given a dump trunk filled with unmarked bills. Perhaps he could use his shapeshifting ability to acquire information on 'Bulletproof', his daily routine, long-term plans, weaknesses, and anonymously anonymously trade this information piece-by-piece to the authorities for smaller payouts, delivered via deaddrops maybe?
Turning the idea over in his head, Charles tried to remember if there was anything that he knew about the gang 'Bulletproof' belonged to.

Taking the stash under your bed, the money in the bank, and the contents of your wallet into account you have $717 USD to your name, and that just isn't enough. You leave your apartment, slide into an alleyway, take on the visage of a homeless bum and sweep the stores you've already been through. No-one notices anything out of the ordinary, and barring a few raised eyebrows and half-hearted, any evidence of foul play.

By 2:30 you've managed to fleece the stores out of $168 USD, and with each five in a row, you’re increasingly grateful cargo pants are a part of your daily attire. It’s enough to pay this month’s $825 rent and leave you with $60 for a rainy day, but it’s not a stable income and there’s no guarantee you can keep gambling indefinitely. You need some serious bank to help you get your feet under you, and the easiest legal way to get paid is to bring this ‘Bulletproof’ to justice. But if you want to do that, you’ll need information, both on Ennis and the Albuquerque Active Krew.

> +1 XP

Normally, it’d be a near-impossible task for a straight-laced Mickie D’s employee, but you can mimic a wannabe thug to a tee, and it isn’t difficult to find a genuine gangster willing to brag about his new boss for twenty bucks. His brain is half-fried with meth and he tends to go on rambling tangents that last for thirty minutes at a time, but you’re a patient person and in six hours you manage to learn the following:

> (1/2)
>>
>>3047644

> Ennis Randal doesn’t do meth or take pills, he just slings it, though if word on the street is to believed he’s a serious fan of psychedelics. As far as street thugs go, he’s relatively slow to anger but has a seething hate for the federal government and law enforcement in general because they killed his cousin in a drug bust gone bad.
> Before he went behind bars, he was an avid boxer and had a 17-4 win-loss ratio in the underground circuit. Allegedly, he can’t aim for shit but he’s quick enough with his steel that it doesn’t really matter.
> As everyone in Albuquerque knows, he can morph his body into a steel-like substance, rendering him immune to low caliber rounds, and manipulate metal to a dangerous degree, but what isn’t well-known on the streets is that he can increase temperatures, making his rods molten hot before they strike and do something to the air around him, making it hazy so there's an off-chance bullets ricochet before they hit.
> The Albuquerque Active Krew is a roughly 400 strong gang heavily involved in drug-trafficking. Aside from a handful of jury-rigged automatic rifles, they don’t have any firepower more intense than glock pistols and pump shotguns. Ennis used to be a rank-and-file lackey, but after he broke out of prison he butchered the former boss when he wouldn’t step down, and declared himself, to quote, “Head Honcho of the AAK Killas.”
> Word on the street about the change in leadership has gotten around, and a steady trickle of turncoats from other gangs has started coming in, three lesser supers among them. If the current rate continues, in two weeks the gang’s size will triple and he plans to start an inner-city gang alliance and start muscling out the Bandidos cartel. Rumor has it, he and eight others plan to rob a bank at 9:00 PM this Thursday, but he doesn’t know the exact location.
> At the moment, the Albuquerque Active Krew doesn’t have a set center of operations but they are known to frequent a handful of crack houses, and it’s likely someone there would know exactly where he’s staying.

Once you’re in the apartment, you head straight for the bathroom, stare in the mirror, and begin to put your disguises to the test. First, you shift into dozens of random people you saw for a few seconds at a time on the streets, you don’t know their names, but you instinctively adopt their body languages and speech patterns to the extent their own mother couldn’t tell the difference. This effect takes serious effort to suppress, and feels strange when you do, similar to how it feels to mimic another person’s voice, language, and bodily motions in your true form. Your true form…

It’s mind-boggling to think that you really have superpowers, that this isn’t some idle daydream or video game, no, you can really shapeshift, and that really is Cousin Louie staring back at you. You wonder how long it will take for the supernatural to become mundane, how long it’ll be before you take shapeshifting, light kinesis, and luck control for granted. You suppose it’s inevitable, and small part of you is almost looking forward to taking on a new routine, but the rest doesn’t want the sense of awe to ever end and as you shift into new and varied forms, you feel it never will.

Eventually, you get a bit tired of taking on disguises and your mind drifts to Ennis Randal, the self-declared Bulletproof. If you can mimic ordinary people, maybe you can do the same with supers, and maybe even their superpowers! Eager to test the theory, you morph into the shape of Ennis with a wide-toothed smile, and reach into your inner force. It feels, strange, like it can sense you’re in another super’s body, but it can’t replicate the super’s powers and a large part, the last you haven’t touched, you realize, is churning in frustration. Hang on a minute, you seize hold of this piece of your presence, and direct it into the light. There’s a brief flash, identical to the ones you can conjure, but directed through a different power!

The inner force’s turmoil has stopped, and when you can’t find the new power you panic for a second, before it hits you that there are two lights, and one has an off signature. You will the second light to dissolve, and surely enough, the tossing and turning presence returns. Pulse quickening in anticipation, you attempt the same with your luck, your light, and your disguise one at a time, then try them all at once, and marvel as it handles each and every one without issue. When the implications of this discovery dawn on you, your focus slips and you revert back to your true form with a grin so ecstatic some might mistake it for madness.

You have the power to copy powers, and in concert with the rest of your powers, the possibilities for pleasure and profit can’t be counted! Come to think of it, if your identity stays a secret, you could flawlessly impersonate a super and wreak havoc on their reputation, but is that something you’re willing to do? You have the talent, it’d be a shame to leave it untapped, that said, you suppose it depends on the super. Two hours fly by while you experiment, and before you know it, it’s 11:30 PM and you’re on the verge of falling out.

That’s a heavy hit to your rigid day-night schedule, but nothing one or two days of tiredness can’t fix. Then again, if you plan on quitting your job at McDonald’s, perhaps there’s no reason to maintain a clockwork sleep cycle. Either way, you’ve found a few, slightly disappointing limitations to your power copying power. You can copy your own powers but it does nothing to improve their strength, only your focus, before you can copy any powers, you have to witness a super using those powers in person, there is a one-to-three month time limit on how long you can ‘hold on’ to copied powers before you have to re-encounter the super, and you can’t ‘store’ previously copied powers, you have to be actively copying them. Aside from that, and a ludicrous upper limit on the number and strength of the powers you can copy, it is a tremendously versatile utility.

You don’t bother to take a shower and fall unconscious as soon as you hit the bed. Slightly groggy, you’re almost ashamed to see you woke up at 9:30, and unless the Super Phenomenon’s caused a rift in the space-time continuum, it should be Tuesday, exactly one day from the next set of acting classes.

We definitely need to try out this power-copying ability. First things first, we should try to look up any new support groups in our local area. I'd imagine it's likely that people suddenly gaining magical abilities would look for other people with magical abilities to figure out how to cope with the shock (and the potential negative consequences of their powers).

well we need to quit our job.

but first take a shower and eat something.

then we go in a library and read some books inside; after that we make the last meal at donalds and quit the job, if Deshawn is there we can greet him.

then we go a bit around and find a shop or a supermarket that sells a decent&cheap backpack, plus take some food.
>>3048421
for that we should check some websites first, they are probably not so easy to open up or find around.
The ones that have open up are already with the Us military, indipendent or something else.

Lying in bed, Chales' eyes flutter open. Thoughts drift lazily through his sleep-addled mind like clouds. Not yet willing to budge from the comfort of his bed, Charles takes the time to reflect on the things he could do today.
Playing the lottery again is a safe enough bet. Swapping between identities allows him to collect a significant amount of winnings without fear of drawing attention to himself, though he is slightly concerned about what will happen when the stores and newsagents that he is fleecing notice the abnormal trend of lottery winners. On the other hand, Charles considers looking for riskier, potentially more lucrative, sources of income. Entertaining such a reckless plan is unlike him, perhaps recent events have boosted his confidence somewhat. Rubbing a fleck of dust from his eye, Charles continues his train of thought. If he was willing to take on more risk, he could extract a handsome payout by using probability manipulation and making multiple runs through a casino.
Alternatively, he could continue pursuing his information gathering campaign on the AAK, or he could attempt to sell off the information he already acquired. Charles supposed that he'd need leave a note or message with the police offering to broker key information about Bulletproof in exchange for payment, as well as devise a way for them to get in contact with him without compromising his anonymity.
Charles waited for a while longer, until his mind firmly settled on a course of action.

I assume that the plan is to covertly get close enough to the supers to copy their powers, then immediately back off. It would be unwise to associate any identity linked to Charles with this support group.

If OP died I could try my hand at running.
Problem is that OP is, presumably, using tables to generate events and stuff, and I don't have anything suitable to replace that.

Incidentally, does anyone know what resource OP used to select the powerset we were using? I suspect it might be custom-made, because I've looked around online and found nothing.

You can always use the pro strat of pretending you have power/loot tables when there is no such thing and making it up as you go.
or you can make an actual table (I know there's a pretty good Superhero tabletop but I forgot the name, you could probably take powers from that to make a table if you wanted)

I'll post a second thread as soon as I'm not swamped with paperwork, and we can resume the quest as normal because this thread is archived. Just caught up, so a few questions/ideas

Since we have high power & disguise, is it possible to directly copy powers we see shown on TV?

How long do we keep superpowers we've copied?

Since our disguise powers are described as literally changing us, it's seemingly a pseudo shapeshift. So we should be able to in principle do some pretty interesting things ranging from small to really ambitious.
For example,
Could we change specific parts of us, say our hand to be somebody else & replace our fingerprints?
Could we make ourselves have a perfect face, could we make ourself look deformed, could we make ourselves literally bigger for physical tasks, or literally smaller for intricate work, is there a limit to how far these could be taken? Could we become quickly change the size and shape of limbs and have pseudo elasticity powers?
Could we disguise as non humans? say a cat, or an elephant or a fly
If it's NOT a physical change and is instead a light based illusion, this also has more interesting applications such as disguising other things

For our powers to work do we need to touch a target? Do we need to be close? Do we just have to see them? Could we invent appearances?
These questions apply to both power copying & disguise

Since our probability manipulation was confirmed to only be over physical events, should we go betting on bigger physical events such as boxing or maybe a casino?
We could sneak into private games disguised as big $ or celebrities
>>
>>3061863
we cant take unhuman features yet and it seems to be flehs changing and not light
>>
>>3061971
Real shape shifting is probaly a relateret power we Can get onces disquise manipulator reaches a ceartin level
>>
>>3061863
I'm pretty sure we need to observe a super using their power in person in order to copy it.
>>
>>3061863
I think it was said that we could grow and shrink one and a half feet. I dont now about the fingerprints though, if we can it opens alot of posebilitis
