“BURST OPEN AND MIX!” Vegeta roars out. A small white sphere explodes into the sky, Vegeta staring up at it and laughing. You watch as dad forces his eyes shut, taking a defensive stance... wait no, he’s prepping a Ki blast. Is he going to try and destroy it before Vegeta finishes transforming?

Your mind then turns to the crowds, seeing Nappa and Raditz cover the eyes of Baozi and Daikon, they themselves shielding their eyes from the light. Even Tarble keeps himself from looking directly at it. Thinking quick, you telepathically contact Bulma. ‘Do these goggles block out Blutz Waves?’

‘W-wha-? Uh... well, I never tested them for it but given they block out the intensity of a Solar Flare, it should be able to. Wait, what are you planning, Peppa?’

‘Bulma, tell mom exactly what you used to make these so she can materialize some glasses for the Saiyans in the crowd. I’ve got a plan for Vegeta.’

‘O-okay?’ she responds in a hesitant voice.

You teleport next to your father. “Dad, wait!”

He stops, eyes still closed but head turning in your direction. “Peppa? What are you-?”

“Vegeta!” you call up towards the Saiyan. “Listen up! That form has one major weakness. But neither dad nor I will use it against you if you’ll hear us out. Just one condition.”

He looks back down at you as he transforms, growing more and more massive. “If it’s another one of those stupid bets-!”

You casually lift up your goggles, letting just a little of the Blutz Waves enter your eyes, but not enough to get you to transform, enough to help you recover some of your lost strength, and do so in such a smooth manner that nobody really notices, then snap them back down on your face. “You sure you want to risk losing your tail?” That gets him to listen, if just for a moment. “No tricks. No tail removal. But if I beat you, you’re going to stay with your son here on Earth. One year. Got it?”

Vegeta... clearly wants to say no. But he seems intrigued. He finishes transforming... and then a golden aura surrounds him as he powers up further. In a deeper, more primal voice, he simply states. “You’ve just guaranteed your defeat.”

“Doubt it.” you reply with a cheeky grin.

“Sorry Peppa. But I’m winning this my way.” Goku responds, firing upwards before you can stop him... only for Vegeta to deflect his blast. “...That didn’t hit did it.”

“Afraid not.” Vegeta’s fur goes golden as his power skyrockets. A massive fist rockets down to where you and dad are standing, with you getting out of the way just in time, though Goku is forced to block it, still getting pushed back.

Well, he’s at full power... and it’s much more stable than you recall. How long can he keep this up? And even with your strength restored, you’re at a disadvantage... or are you?

As Vegeta spots you trying to escape, he fires a mouth beam up towards you. But you predict it, and yell out, “RAIO-KEN!” as you dash around the beam and knee Vegeta in the eye, causing him to stumble backwards. You then form a Ki drill and backflip away from him and bolt right into the ground, digging under it and setting up some shallow tunnels, ones Vegeta will trip under as he tries to follow you. In addition, you set up a few Ki mines for him when he does, then finally burst out of the ground and fly up to a building. You cross your arms and stare down Vegeta, tail swaying behind you as your aura sparks furiously.

Once he’s done rubbing his eye, Vegeta growls out in your direction. “You’re a real brat, you know that?”

“You left yourself wide open. Your fault.” you taunt back at him.

“YOU LITTLE-!” He steps forward and stumbles, his massive foot falling through one of the traps you made. He tries to fly up and land nearby, and not only does he trip in the next one, he detonates one of the Ki mines. And he does it again. And again. Aaaand again.

You start giggling. “Heeheehee, all that power and you fall for something like that? Come on Vegeta, I thought you were better than that!”

He flies up in rage. “YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE?! THEN HERE, LET’S SEE YOU KEEP LAUGHING AFTER THIS!” Vegeta holds his hand forward. “BIG BANG ATTACK!”

You’re able to dodge the blast itself, but once it contacts the ground it sends out a powerful explosion that still manages to knock you away. You crash through another building some distance away from him, then look down to see a huge crater left behind from the blast. Crap, that could’ve done even more damage if it hit you directly. Need to focus on never getting hit, at least until you wear him down.

“RAIO-KEEEEN!” Goku yells out, blasting towards Vegeta and kicking him in the back. The massive monkey stumbles forward, with Goku then bolting around him and delivering blow after blow, leaving some real damage on Vegeta. He finishes this Meteor Combo by dashing back and blasting forward a Kamehameha that hits Vegeta between the neck and shoulder, blasting him down... and travels right towards you. You’re able to dodge in time as the beam breaks through the dome’s ceiling, causing another chunk of it to crumble down. Dad seems... proud that you were able to see that coming, but focused, ready to keep battling. So he really is intending to fight both you and Vegeta at the same time.

But how long can he hold the power of Super Saiyan 3?

You take a defensive stance as you see Vegeta start to get up. You’re not going to let dad get the upper hand, and you want to make sure Vegeta takes a majority of the damage. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Goku blasts towards you, and before you can dodge you realize he’s outsped you and is right behind you, kicking you in the back and then blasting you as you’re pushed forward. He chases after you, yelling out, “Come on Peppa! You’ll never be Champion if you don’t take this seriously! You want to settle for third place?!”

“HECK NO I WON’T!” you yell back, guarding against his blows as he increases the pressure. While he’s got a power advantage right now, you can feel him start to lose strength. He’s still taken quite a beating from before. He feints a kick that gets you to block wrong, hitting you with a chop and letting out an explosive wave that sends you flying towards Vegeta. Dad follows you, ready to land a devastating punch.

And right into your trap. You teleport behind Vegeta at the last moment and let the massive monkey take the blow. Vegeta swats back at Goku, knocking him away. “You’re not going to be able to keep this up for long, Kakarot! You and your brat of a daughter are running on fumes! And I’m able to take MUCH more than either of you!”

“Is that a fact?” you question, appearing in front of Vegeta’s face. He tries to headbutt you, but you let out a Wind-boosted Kiai that hits his eyes again as you get some distance. Vegeta follows, and you have trouble dodging his blows as you realize that for as much bulk as he has, he’s still fairly quick. You fly away, dad following, until you reach the false moon Vegeta made. Vegeta fires off a mouth beam at the two of you, both of you dodging, as you take hold of the massive white sphere. You prepare to fling it towards Goku, but...

“GEIST MAGNUM!” he calls out, stopping you before you can fling it at him, and successfully destroying the sphere. Welp, so much for that plan. Dad finally opens his eyes, smirking.

But even without that part of the plan, your other plan’s still in motion. Vegeta’s energy surges around him. “Perfect! I can take the both of you out in one blow!” He pulls his hands back, like he’s about to fire one of his Galick Guns... except this one is a little different. The sides of his palms touch one another instead of him putting one behind the other. Vegeta laughs. “You know, I actually should thank you for this one, Peppa!”

Oh you don’t like this. “Thank me for what?”

“That little technique of yours has some advantages over normal beams. You, however, need your Magic to apply its effect. I’ve learned how to do so without that!” The beam starts to charge, spheres of purple energy building up in both of his palms. “LET’S SEE YOU SURVIVE THIS ONE!”

Goku powers up as much as he can as he realizes that even a grazing blow from that could put the audience at risk. He pulls his hands back. “You’re asking for this, Vegeta! HYPER!”

“FALL! HELIX...!”

“KAMEHAMEHAAAAA!” Dad thrusts his hands forward, blasting down a very focused beam at Vegeta.

“GALICK GUN!” the giant monkey roars back at him, a spiraling beam of energy clashing with Goku’s attack.

Dad’s getting pushed back. He’s starting to lose his hold on Super Saiyan 3. Vegeta... still really does have some substantial reserves left. Letting him take out dad could help a lot, but he’d still be able to fight fairly well. But if you help dad, you can do some real damage to Vegeta with a combined attack...

“OH NO YOU DON’T!” Vegeta roars out, firing off a mouth beam before you can combine yout attack with Goku’s, hitting you solidly and knocking you away. You crash to the ground hard, panting out loudly as you try to stand back up.

But, this was just the distraction dad needed to finally push Vegeta’s attack. “HHHAAAAAAAAA!” he roars, pumping most of his reserves of energy into the attack. It overwhelms Vegeta’s blast and blasts down around the Saiyan, a titanic explosion following that tears apart more of the remaining city landscape.

Dad promptly crashes to the ground a short distance away from you. You notice his power’s fading. That might be the last real attack he could pull off in Super Saiyan 3. What’s more... Vegeta’s definitely damaged, but he’s not out yet. Though even his massive power seems to be draining away. He holds one of his massive arms, Goku’s attack clearly stunning it. “Haa... haa... nice... nice try, Kakarot... but I’m more than capable of going on after that. You... you’re no match for me!”

“H-heh heh... man, you really have put yourself through a lot, Vegeta. Your training must have been something else...”

Arrogant and self-righteous! You stand between two worlds that are in opposition, prancing between them like some noisy little animal, acting like you deserve a pat on the back for just existing! Your very blood is in conflict, and whenever you see what a TRUE Saiyan is like, you lash out against it because you can’t handle the truth!” Vegeta lets go of his arm and points down at you. “You’re a hypocrite! A contradiction! And that’s all you will EVER amount to!”

You glare down at him, your power starting to rise. “All right.”

“All right? What do you mean ‘all right’?!” Vegeta roars back at you.

The ground shakes as you reach deeper inside you, letting your power build. “Your points are fair. I get pretty mad at you whenever you act out like that. Maybe- ...no, definitely more than I should. I’ll admit that it pisses me off seeing how antagonistically you act towards my mom. But that doesn’t give me the right to behave the way I do towards you. So... I’m sorry. I’m sorry for yelling and swearing and snapping at you.”

Vegeta looks to you curiously. “What, do you think THAT is all it takes? Oh good, you’re SORRY. Listen to yourself! My point still stands, you’re a contradiction, a hypocrite!” Goku flies up towards him, using the last bits of his strength to engage with Vegeta, the two Saiyans clashing as you keep powering up. He’s able to land one final solid blow before he drops out of Super Saiyan 3, dropping to the ground like a rock as he knocks Vegeta through a building.

Finally you finish transforming to Super Saiyan 3, tearing the ground up under you... and then, you power up just a little further, catching dad’s attention as he lays prone on the ground. “Maybe I could say the same about you.”

“What did you just say?!” Vegeta roars out, lunging forward. You fly up and stop his massive fist, your golden, sparking aura taking on a slightly orange-ish tint, as if it were flaring around you.

“You heard me loud and clear. We infuriate each other because we both know deep down, we can see the worst of ourselves in one another!” You flip up and run across his arm, kicking Vegeta in the face hard enough to send him down. “All of that speech of yours, you know it can apply right back to you!”

“SHUT UP!” Vegeta yells, swiping in your direction.

You teleport to him and strike him in the gut, then start barraging him with teleporting strikes. “You cling to an old world and can’t accept Earth for what it really is! “PEPPA! PEPPA! PEPPA!” the crowds chant and cheer in celebration. You merely thrust your fist into the air in reply. You’ve really done it.

Mom is the first to fly down and hug you, followed by Chuu Lee. You see dad helped up by 19, the two of them with proud smiles on their faces. Raditz hands dad a Senzu Bean, and mom gives you one too. Your mother hugs you as tight as she can. “So proud of you. My little Champion.”

“Well, you know what this means.” Goku calls out. Chuu Lee laughs as you tilt your head, a little confused... then mom picks you up and places you on her shoulders. Chuu Lee does the same for Maple, and Goku finally picks her up.

“W-wha!~” You call out, wobbling on top.

“THREE CHEERS FOR THE CHAMPION!” they yell out.

“G-guuyyysss!”

Once things settle, and you’re cleaned up a bit, King Furry, the King of the Galaxy, Lord Kuriza, Prince Tarble, and even the Supreme Kai all gather around a platform overlooking the crowds. Mr. Cash and his son... who you notice seems to giving you an awkward smile, walk forward with Ken. The Announcer holds out the Champion belt. “Son Peppa, after battling through some of the best fighters on not just Earth, but among the whole cosmos, it brings me great pride to present you with the title of... ‘Strongest Under the Heavens.’ Congratulations, World Champion.”

You again see Lime and her grandfather, both of them cheering for you. A smile and slight blush appears on your face as you see Cocoa waving her banner wildly for you. And...

You don’t see your brother anywhere. You don’t sense him anywhere nearby either. But you do manage to hear something telepathically. ‘Congrats, sis.’

Seems... he’s way on the other side of the planet. But at the very least, you know he’s okay. ‘Thanks, bro. See you at home?’

‘Trying to do something at the moment. But I’ll see you again soon.’

‘Stay safe.’ You bring the belt down, then, taking the mic one more time, tell everyone, “I look forward to the next tournament, and hope to see you all there! ...Interruption free, of course.”

Mr. Cash next brings out an oversized check. “And of course, the prize money for our Champion. One hundred million Zenni. You’ve earned it.” Monty makes a soft coughing noise to catch his father’s attention. “Ah, and if you would like, we can arrange a feast for everyone who helped stop those dreadful villains earlier. It is the least we can do to thank you all for saving our lives.”

Raditz and dad both look like they’re about to start drooling. Mom giggles softly, then looks to you. “Well? Want a meal fit for a Champion?”

Once that’s settled, and everyone’s brought down, you all head off to the underwater restaurant. Cocoa looks around in amazement once the elevator door opens. “Wow! It’s so pretty!”

“Little... different seeing sharks swimming around during dinner. Certainly fancy.” her father comments, his wife chuckling.

“Looks expensive.” Lime states, walking rather casually into it. “Wonder where they get all this stuff...”

Dad and Raditz almost immediately bolt to the buffet, Vegeta... walking slower, staying near Baozi. His mind is a swirl of emotions at this point, and probably would be best to just let him be. You do notice, though, Shao holding his hand as they walk. You smile, then walk with Cocoa and Lime. “So girls, what looks most appetizing? That bombus steak is pretty good.”

“What even is a ‘bombus’ anyway?” Lime questions, watching as Goku piles a few onto his plate, Maple taking one herself.

“It’s a creature native to planet Monmaasu.” Jeice tells the two of you. “Rather large critters, big as an average person. Used for their meat and their honey.”

Cocoa blinks. “...Honey? This is... bee steak?”

“Huh. Well what do you know. Still really good! Tryyy iiiitt.” You take a plate and put one on it.

“I can vouch for it.” mom adds in. “And hey, Jeice? Ginyus, guys? Can we talk for a bit?”

“Hm? Ah, sure Maple. Something wrong?”

She just nods her head in the direction of Kuriza, the five aliens following her. With your plate filled up, Lime and Cocoa agreeing to try the bombus steak along with a few other things, Lime being the more adventurous type while Cocoa sticks to some more familiar foods, the three of you spot Izumi sitting with Videl and Pantea... and Monty, who actually waves to you. The three of you sit by them, and once you place your plate down Videl pulls you close to her and into a headlock, giving you a friendly noogie. “There’s the little Champion! Congrats, Peppa!”

“Heeeey! Come on, lemme get a few bites in before this!” you call out, giggling.

“I must admit, you surpassed even my wildest expectations.” Monty tells you with a friendly smile. “You deserve that title.”

Once Videl lets go of you, Monty asks, “So... what are you going to do with all that money?”

“About that much, yeah. The rest? I... kinda wanna just keep around for some spending money, maybe get some stuff for my friends. It should be more than enough for that. Maybe a couple mall trips.” You take a bite of the bombus steak, but then point your fork around critically. “But don’t you guys start asking for anything crazy. No yachts. No impulse buys.”

The girls giggle, Lime giving you a cheeky smirk. “You suuuuure you don’t wanna spend some more on us?~”

You roll your eyes. “I’m sure I can help you with whatever stuff you’re going to try to stock in your grandpa’s store. Actually, what will you be doing after this, Lime?”

“Kinda want to take a trip to space during summer break, actually. Or maybe explore a few of the ruins of ancient Nemuria. Bet there’s some antiques out there worth a pretty penny~”

“Sure you would, Indiana Lime.” Cocoa sticks her tongue out at the older girl.

“Or would it be more a ‘Lima Croft?’” Pantea asks her jokingly.

“Hah. Well what about you Pantea? Or you, Videl? You two are gonna have to work extra hard to be able to claim the title from me~” You take another bite of your steak. Mmm~ juicy and just a little sweet.

“The mystery of Giru is still on my mind. Wish we could figure out something more about him. Plus I want to work on Robo some more. Though mom did tell me she had a fun new idea pop in her head.” The purple-haired girl sighs. “...In the tone I usually expect from an even more mad scientist than her.”

“I’m getting back to training. I’m not gonna let up any time soon. Maybe see if I can get dad to take this a bit more seriously too. Say, you up for some training some time, Peppa? Could help us shore up our weaknesses.” she asks cheerfully.

Monty tilts his head. “You just got done with this exhausting tournament and you’re already thinking on doing more training?”

“W-well no, but... yes, I... did think your fight against Videl was rather exciting, Peppa. And your fight, Izumi, it was really creative and... kinda funny at times. Especially when you and 19 were fighting that alien.” He sinks into his seat shyly. “Y-you did look really cool, Peppa.”

That causes a few eyebrows to raise, Izumi grinning deviously. You don’t really care though, and decide to change the subject. “Thanks! Say, you own a planet and everything, but what about the rest of your family? Are they going into business with Kuriza or something, or like, what’s your family planning on?”

“My father’s diversifying his assets, actually. He plans on helping Earth’s space programs get off the ground, eheh. I think he might be working with Capsule Corp. on that, actually...”

“My grandpa’s really the one who’s focused on that. Mom still helps him, but she’s got dozens of different projects she’s working on, especially some stuff looking into energy.” Pantea comments. The two of them start to converse, Lime joining in as they talk business.

You then turn to Cocoa and ask her, “Are you up to anything later? Or just gonna head home and sleep off all the craziness you’ve been involved in?”

“Too much excitement for me to sleep all that easily. Just saw my best friend get titled World Champion. Figure I might as well stick around for that. Maybe keep her from getting too full of herself.” She sticks her tongue out at you.

“Yeah well... your banner was super cute.” you tell her with a sweet smile. “Did kinda help me out there in the end.”

Cocoa blushes a little, then laughs. “Thanks Peppa. So... yeah. If it’s okay with you, I’d like to hang out a bit.”

Out of the corner of your eye, you see that Shin guy and Kibito talking with mom some more. Telepathically, you ask her, ‘Ghost Pepper to Momma Bird. They still on that Majin Buu thing?’

‘Momma Bird here, affirmative. While he’s still sealed, we’re trying to figure out a way to keep him that way.’

As she laughs, you notice Cocoa about to fling a pea at her. You shake your head, Cocoa backing down. Mostly because she knows a food fight is not a battle she could win, even if she started it. But the both of you know better. Dad might appreciate it though. His two favorite things in the world after family. Looking around you see him and Raditz engaged in an eating contest almost, a few of the other guys, and Launch, around them chanting “GO! GO! GO!” while Suno and Chi-chi shake their heads.

You then spot that blonde kid, Idassa, with a younger boy and a large, round woman who seems to be his mother. Huh, neat, they made it too. He sees you glance in his direction, giving an awkward double thumb’s up... aaaand then his mother grumpily pulls him away. The younger boy just follows with a chunk of meat in his mouth hanging over a plate. Baozi and Daikon look like they’re having fun too, at least. Your attention turns to Lao... and you recall something.

Turning your head back to Cocoa, you smile wide. “You know, I don’t think I ever properly thanked you for it... so thanks, for helping me learn that Ki hiding trick. Do wish it happened under... you know, better, less ninja-y circumstances, but I think I owe a lot to learning that trick from you. That and learning some acting is pretty fun.”

She winks at you. “Well... you did save me, and teach me how to sense Ki and everything. So think we’re even on that.”

A wonderful session!

I had a lot of fun, and the dice agreed with me today for the most part.

I think its time Vegeta's visit on Earth has him meet the legendary Super Saiyan to show him what a true Saiyan is. Yazai/Yamoshi!

I'm glad we got Peppa to champ.

So far Izzy feels the most well rounded, Peppa's got some stuff to learn (like how Vegeta did that Helix move so she add magic too it) but deserves some 'off' time to focus on resting and socializing.

While Gohan seems to have the most to learn from all of this. I think he just needs to find himself, and discovering his own path in life and finding his way.

Maybe a new master, or perhaps a change of perspective?

Perhaps a red lightsaber, or a sharingan if he continues down the path of the dark side!

For sake of reference, I'll say that Yazai and Yamoshi are two different individuals. And that may be a good idea, but we'll see how that goes down.

Deep breath. Okay. Cocoa got kidnapped by ninja and she was able to hold her cool. Scared the heck out of her but she was able to keep her cool. Besides... she knows you’re a little weird. And that’s never pushed her away before. Calming down a bit. Still... it might be worth getting just a little advice. You lock on to where Keli is and telepathically ask her, ‘H-hey, um... it’s Peppa. Do you... have a little bit? I need your advice?’

You gulp. ‘How do I... avoid coming on to strong?’

Keli’s quiet for a bit. That... doesn’t help with your nerves. But when she finally replies her tone sounds a good deal more kind, friendly. ‘Respect her boundaries. Do stuff she likes but don’t force yourself into trying to appease her. It’s fine to butter her up, but do so within reason. Make sure there’s a good back and forth, and if she’s giving any hints that she’s not interested, don’t keep pushing. And no, don’t write this down, that’ll only make you look worse.’

‘I wasn’t!’ You crumple up the paper. You didn’t write anything down. You... might have, but you didn’t. ‘Is... um, is a movie a little too strong?’

‘Try something you both will enjoy. No scary movies until you know she IS interested though.’

Okay! Okay, good, good. You can manage this. ‘Thank you, Keli.’

‘No problem, Champ. You gonna tell me the name of this lucky girl that caught your eye?’

You giggle. ‘How about I don’t mess this up first?’

‘Good luck.’

You take one more deep breath. You’re ready now. You tap two fingers to your forehead, and teleport to Cocoa, appearing outside her hotel. She gives you a friendly wave, then raises an eyebrow. “Trying to look a little fancier now that you’re the Champion?”

With a casual shrug, you tell her, “Hey, I thought I looked cute. Is that so wrong?”

She laughs. “Goof. Ready to be off?”

“Yeah. Still just wanna go through the festival?”

“So long as you don’t empty the vendors’ inventories.” She sticks her tongue out. “Why, got anything else you wanna do?”

“Belly may not be full yet, so I make no promises. Nyeh!~” You stick your tongue out, and the two of you giggle. “But really, anything special you might wanna do?”

“Ah, maybe. Let’s just have some fun for now.” Cocoa starts off, the two of you running towards the festival. You walk a bit more casually as you look at all the vendors and attractions set up. Lots more alien foods out now, some tasty ones too. You do notice, however, that you yourself are attracting a good deal of attention. A number of people, Earthling and alien alike, but definitely more Earthlings, asking for your autographs, some vendors even handing you out some foods for free.

Curiously not as much paparazzi as you might expect, but you do sense that some of your friends are nearby. Videl especially seems like she’s trying to hold them off. Gonna need to thank her for that later. You see a few games set up with some really cute prizes. The vendors try to keep a calm, smiling face, but you can tell that they’re just a little nervous as soon as you walk by.

Cocoa does show a little interest in some of the prizes. There’s a large, life-sized plush deer that she seems to like, but also a trio of smaller animals, a plush snake, pig, and otter, as one set. There’s also a feathery dinosaur plush, oh hey and a mole one that looks pretty cool. Huh... actually looks a little familiar. Ah, but there’s a beautiful flower brooch as one of the prizes too...

She blushes a little, waving her arms in protest. “W-wha? Come on, I’m no good at these games...”

“Nonsense! Come on, give it a try! Find one you really like and go for it!” You thrust your fist into the air.

Cocoa rolls her eyes. “Fine, fine...” She takes the three rings, eyes focused on the pegs. Cocoa takes a deep breath, then tosses the first... and it lands perfectly! She’s surprised, looking back at you. You give her a thumb’s up. Cocoa tosses the second. Perfect again! More confident now, she readies for the third.... Perfect! The people around clap, Cocoa rubbing the back of her neck and smiling bashfully.

The game’s operator, a tall bird person, whistles softly. “In all my years... well, you won it, kid. Pick your prize.”

She looks over them, and decides on the packaged trio of plush animals. She picks them up, grinning at you. “That was... fun. Thanks, Peppa.”

“Aha, but it’s my turn~!” you inform her, marching to the stand. You decide you’ll be a little fancy, taking all three in one hand. Not even looking, you grin back at Cocoa as you give the rings a toss...!

Your grin slowly fades as soon as you hear it. The operator glares at you. Apologetically you lower your head and give him some money to repair it, then, sulking, walk back to Cocoa... who’s barely able to contain her laughter. “P-Peppa what were you doing you dork? Hahahaha! What was that?”

“Was tryin’ t’ be cool...” you grumble in defeat. “Rasslefrassle... gotta be a trick with the rings. Bugged. Ninja did it.”

“Or maybe our little Champion is still fallible.” she tells you, her giggling dying down.

“Now I’ll never get that cool little mole...” You keep your head lowered, grumbling. Well, clearly, your nerves have gotten the better of you now. This is what you get for stressing out like that. You sigh loudly, ready to walk off... only when you lift your head up, Cocoa’s not in front of you anymore. Oh no, didn’t scare her off did you? Agh this is what Keli warned you about! You gotta find her and ap-!

“Boop.” Something fuzzy pokes you in the cheek. You almost fall back, instead awkwardly sidestepping... and see that mole. In Cocoa’s hand. “Here.”

She giggles. “Noooot gonna push my luck any more, but hey. Something I’m definitely better than you at~”

Blushing, you take the plush mole and smile at her. “You’re spoiling me.”

“You looked too pathetic for me not to. But this is the only one you get tonight~” she teases.

You hug the little plush mole and keep walking with her. “Thanks.”

“Heehee. That was fun. Wanna try any more games?”

“Nnnnah. Not until I shoo away the bad luck gremlins.” You wave your arms in the air, holding your mole with your tail. “Shoo! Shoo! And no food after midnight!”

Out of the corner of your eye you see a face-painting station. Eh... you do have makeup on already, but bah, why not? “How about that?”

“Hee, sure!~”

The both of you get your faces painted, you going for a mole look, while Cocoa decides to have her cheeks given red dots, and nose tip with a black one. She flashes up a V-sign after, and the two of you even find a matching pair of ninja masks. You’re finally feeling... really relaxed. Heh, you were worried about nothing. Sun’s starting to set though. Hmm... maybe it might be best to call it a night, or... well, you could see if she wants to have a little meal with you. Or maybe you can still try for that movie...?

Eh... movie can come another time. You’ve got a good flow going with her. “Wonder if there’s any special ceremonies going on around here... oh wait, yeah! There is! It’s something closer to the old Tournament grounds. Wanna go watch it together, Cocoa?”

“What’s it about, exactly?” she asks.

“Well, the Tournament itself comes from an ancient festival held on these islands, think it dates back to before King Piccolo’s reign of terror. It originally marked... hmm, ah, right! A ‘victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good spirits over evil spirits,’ with the Tournament itself displaying martial prowess granted by those good spirits and that knowledge and everything. Should be some fireworks and stuff along with the closing ceremony.”

Cocoa taps her chin for a moment. “Fireworks does sound fun... yeah, let’s try that.”

“Wanna get a bite of something as we watch?” you question, looking over all the carnival food still up.

She looks to you critically. “You have a bottomless stomach, Peppa. You’re gonna need to keep half your money for food alone.”

“Not hearing a noooo~”

She pouts. “Ugh. This is gonna go right to my thighs...”

“You’ll be able to work it off, don’t worry~”

The two of you get some more familiar foods, takoyaki and funnel cake, alongside some more exotic ones, deep fried octopus hotdogs (made with real octopus), and even an alien dish made with some kind of fried jelly. To get a better view of the fireworks, you help Cocoa up to the old Tournament roof, and watch as the head priest approaches a platform... then lets out a single “WOOF” that signals the gong to ring. Fireworks shoot into the air, Cocoa smiling up as they explode into fanciful little patterns.

She sits back for a moment, turning to you. “This was fun. You really should take more time to just... you know, relax, Peppa.”

“Eh, you’re right, but I wanna stay vigilant in my training still. Plus, well, you know... it’s still fun to me. I like finding my limits and breaking through them, and... it’s nice to have an outlet for all that training.” You smile sweetly at her. “But this was definitely fun. Should do it again some time. And... thanks for putting up with a weirdo like me.”

She elbows your arm gently. “You’re a fun weirdo, at the very least. And one who I can depend on.”

After the first few fireworks go off, you and Cocoa watch quietly for a few moments. Heh, never did take her to a movie... though, maybe... “Say, you have any movies you’re looking forward to?”

“Well... maybe. Would be nice to see some with friends... there’s that really expensive one they actually went off-planet to film. One of the first genuinely extra-terrestrial movies to hit Earth cinemas, still done by an Earthling crew. Ahh, but there’s also the big pop-star movie coming out in October... what about you, Peppa?”

You rub the back of your neck. “Ah, you know me, I’d probably settle for some action flick. Something cool and flashy... but I guess I could try something other than the usual for once.”

“Well... yeah, I guess I’d be up for seeing something with friends again.”

Why'd you make Peppa look like an ass tho? Failure's one thing, but tempting fate like that is another. I just don't want to neglect details like this. A date is just as much a battlefield as a fight: Our freshening up is gearing up, the face-paint is camouflage, and the fireworks are an artillery barrage!
