You are Neliel to Odelschwanck, an arrancar who really shouldn't even be here. But because you knew that your friends, who have been very loyal to you since even before you became an arrancar let alone an Espada, would probably be here? You had to try, you owe them at least that much. After all, it's mostly your fault they got into this mess in the first place.

But unfortunately you've had to put that objective on hold for the time being, instead focusing on how to save the people in font of you who need your protection.

Kuchiki Rukia still cannot be moved, and Lieutenant Abarai, Sado Yasutora, and Arisawa Tatsuki are too badly exhausted to put up an adequate fight against the quincy who has tracked them down: Giselle Gewelle, who according to Bambietta Basterbinne is called 'the Zombie'.

“Just my luck!” she moans. “I've run into the one arrancar alive with a sense of restraint!”

“Just the only one you've met,” you mutter. “Also, that's racist.”

“Well if you're not gonna play along,” she sighs, shooting an arrow through her own throat.

“Thegn Ib'g nahaffa doohet mhsulf.”

Then she proceeds to cough up about enough blood to fill a milk jug, frothy and bright red.

“Did no one ever teach you not to speak with your mouth full?” you frown.

Giselle wipes the blood from her face. “Sorry, sorry! Too many holes all of a sudden, not even in the right places..."

Then the lifeless corpse of Szayelapporo Granz starts to haul itself off the ground, and her plan becomes clear to you: she can't get you, so she's infecting the next best thing available. He may be dead, but Szayelapporo was still an Espada during his life and offers a reasonable amount of raw spiritual power now that she's reanimated him.

You have to keep them away from the kids and the shinigami. Not to mention, you need to keep them away from yourself.

“You're not the only one whose blood can be used in an attack,” you declare, slitting your palm and forcing a substantial amount of reiatsu to coalesce in your palm, mixing with your blood.

“Gran Rey Cero!”

You aim the blast towards Szayelapporo's corpse and let it fly. Its path is as unpredictable as the mass of reiatsu itself is unstable, zigging and zagging rapidly as it works its way towards the zombified Espada. But when it finally hits, the results are immediate.

The cero rips his arm off and carries it away, further shredding it before the blast slams into a wall well behind your target and going off. The explosion is massive, and the pressure wave that it produces whips at your hair and clothing. It even knocks the others around a little.

“Maybe a bit too close,” you mutter.

“Maybe you should've been closer,” Giselle taunts you. “Cause your aim sucks.”

“That cero is almost impossible to aim,” you shrug. “Sorry if it wasn't as impressive as it could've been.”

But you did learn something important from that exchange. You doubt that Szayelapporo could ever have dodged a blast from that close, he didn't even react when he saw it coming. So while he's much 'livelier' than you'd otherwise expect him to be given the circumstances, he hasn't truly been revived. In reality he's still a corpse, and both his mobility and his reaction times have suffered accordingly.

In short? He's no threat to you, not on his own. The trouble is that he's not alone.

>Launch another cero at the shambling corpse of Szayelapporo, try and finish the job.

“Cero!” you shout, launching a thicker beam towards Szayelapporo. The corpse of the Espada fires a cero back, using what remains of his own blood.

“Gran Rey Cero!” he half-groans, half-screams.

The incoming Gran Rey Cero warps your own cero out of he way, sending it skyward at an odd angle until it disappears from sight. So Giselle saw it once and reused it? Or is there something of Szayelapporo's creativity still left in his broken skull? The truth isn't immediately clear, because neither of the two knew better than to send a cero your way.

Literally nothing worse than that.

You reach out and start sucking the blast down your gullet... it burns a lot more than a regular cero would going down, and it upsets your stomach while it's down there. So you can't really add much to it before you find yourself desperate to send it back already.

The cero comes back up in the familiar shade of pink that all your ceros share, much faster and more direct than what it was before but every bit as strong. It streaks towards Szayelapporo, who disappears in a blinding flash of light.

Apparently he tried to dodge, but didn't quite make it in time.

Giselle sighs dramatically, pinching the bridge of her nose. “What do you expect to do like that, dummy?”

Szayelapporo has been left without a leg to stand on, quite literally. Your blast took his legs off, leaving him just his left arm to get around.

“I...” Szayelapporo drones, the word struggling to escape his raspy, dead throat.

“No excuses!” Giselle barks, kicking Szayelapporo in his ribs. Which while clearly abusive, to be fair, is essentially the only part of him that's left to kick.

Then she continues stomping on him, and any grim humor you could have found in the situation immediately disappears. “What should I do with a piece of human-shaped trash that can't even be dead right? What a useless piece of trash you turned out to be, a total waste of my precious blood!”

This is getting... uncomfortable.

>Ask Giselle to simply let the dead be dead. Szayelapporo was a piece of filth, but he didn't deserve this. You think.

“Gran Rey Cero!” you shout, extending your arm again. This time you aim for Giselle herself, and can't help but be disappointed when the blast misses entirely.

Its passage warps her left arm slightly, but the effect isn't nearly as dramatic as when you ripped Szayelapporo's arm off with a nearly identical move.

“My, that hurt every bit as much as it looked like it would,” Giselle comments, glancing down at her arm as thin silver filaments trail down it from her neck towards her fingertips. “But this isn't going anywhere. Can't you just... you know...”

“Let you zombify the ones behind me?” you guess.

“Yeah, that!” Giselle agrees cheerfully.

You shake your head. “In the words of a woman I wish were here right now, I refuse.”

She forces you to intercept another hail of arrows, one of which very nearly hits Kuchiki in her face. But then, at the last second and just as you slash it apart, she moves.

“You can move!” Abarai realize loudly.

“Barely,” Kuchiki admits.

“Then let's get out of here!” Arisawa suggests, throwing Rukia over her shoulder. “Come on, while Neliel's holding that quincy off!”

“You really expect us to flee...”

“There's no time for this, Renji!” Arisawa shouts. “We're just a liability here and you know it!”

“Who said you can leave?” Giselle asks, passing them in a single step and barring their escape.

Then your foot finds her backside, sending her flying back past them to where you were fighting mere seconds ago. “Who said you could follow?”

“And who said you got to have an opinion!?” Giselle demands shrilly.

What happened to the Zarakiest Kenpachis after getting his arm lobbed off?
What happened to best doggo after getting burned?
Would doggo let people pet him and rub his belly?
Has anyone considered getting Gambi a prosthetic arm if a fleshie one is still a long ways from being possibly until Urahara synthesized a Quincy safe syrum?
Did Fang or whatever her name was (one of the two arranger twins) get her arm back?
Is it canon that Harribel and possibly thwe other hollows got homes built for them on the division 9 grounds?
What happened to the pill version of Yoruichi? Is she in a machine that made a simulated reality? Had her memories erased and living out her existance in that bee / wasp plushie?

>-thread 138: “Then do you think there's some religious significance?” Apacci presses. “I've heard there's a whole cult dedicated to the Moon God.”

>Ulquiorra
>“It is a reminder of what we are,” Ulquiorra replies to Yammy's idle question. “To embrace that truth is the only option for beings such as ourselves.”

>Grimmjow
>“... mocking me...” Grimmjow mutters, stalking off in the opposite direction.
“Master Grimmjow once tried to 'finish the moon off' with a cero,” Shawlong mutters quietly. “Of course he couldn't hit it, so it remains a sensitive subject. Please refrain from asking again.”
So I vaguely remember something I a Q&A from Riku's / her swords PoV. Something about people worshiping her, or how people might worship the grave of Rosa to make them sort of immortal?
Riku was a dot on the moon for close to two centuries or something right? Could she have saw interesting Hollows down there? Maybe that cipher guy?
>Riku was the hole on the Hueco Mundo moon. Riku gets divine powers from worshippers. Riku might have a few hollows who might have worshipped the moon. Riku moon goddess when.

As for Yamamoto, he's what you'd call 'clinically dead' but his soul hasn't begun to reincarnate yet. So his sword, which was never particularly talkative to begin with, has gone completely silent.

Can he eat chocolate?
Has he ever tried doggy kibble and treats?

Can Rosa have a Segunda Etapa?
So if the sword god can use souls, Quincy juice and divine juice to make stuff, can he make a sword out of some dank hollow juice?
What's the standard range weapon for 9th division?
Can we do more Kenpachi PoV's like the time he fought the guy with the spoon collar thing?

You get the distinct impression that if Giselle gets serious about your fight things will quickly get ridiculous. This was just one zombie, and something tells you that this isn't the type of person who would settle for forcing only the one dead man to fight for her sick amusement. As far as reasons to fight go... stopping someone like that isn't a bad one, you think.

And so you find yourself raising your zanpakuto out in front of you. “Praise, Gamuza!”

In a massive blast of reiatsu, you release your resurreccion... a surge of power you haven't felt for a while. Szayelapporo is lifted bodily and thrown free from his ruined palace, landing somewhere far below, while the palace itself begins to fall inwards until nothing remains but rubble.

“Ah, now I remember!” the quincy shouts over the din. “You were once ranked number Three among the Espada, weren't you?”

“That was in a previous lifetime,” you explain as the dust begins to settle and reveal your altered form to your opponent.

“I once heard Bambi talk about how you were one of the least subhuman of the filth we were obliged to work with,” Giselle muses. “Coming from one of your superiors that's high praise!”

“I'm flattered,” you grumble, hefting your double-ended lance.

“I wonder what Bambi would say if she could see you now,” Giselle shrugs. “Oh well. Guess I'll just have to find her after this is all done.”

Your eyes meet hers with a hard glare. “I think she'd tell me to kill you.”

With a grunt of exertion, your whole body strains in concert. Four legs provide a leaping start, instant acceleration followed by a powerful overhand throw with just a little spin from your wrist. The massive projectile streaks towards Giselle, who dodges it with ease...

Like rolling thunder, your hoofbeats carry you to your weapon where your hand grasps the haft. In a deftly controlled movement, as though it were effortless, you not only slow its momentum but reverse it in a tumbling backspin. One heavy end of the double-ended lance catches Giselle in the ribs as your own body continues to hurtle onward, your four legs barely able to change your trajectory so that you end your charge where the lance was set to fall.

It settles into your hand nicely.

“So that is your resurreccion?” Giselle grunts, clearly nursing at least a couple of cracked ribs despite her blut. “You turn into a horse?”

“Goat,” you correct her.

>If you hit her head on, you'll probably take off a limb or two. A hit to the sternum or head will kill her.

You decide to dust off a series of techniques that you rarely got a chance to use back when you were serving under Aizen's employ, because you hardly ever released your zanpakuto even for the purposes of training. While arrancar can benefit from training, back then you were mostly so intoxicated by your own newfound power and instinctive combat ability that it never even occurred to you.

While you may be a little rusty, the fact is that you really need to be getting creative with cero right now and your resurreccion is going to help with that.

Not long after deciding on the strategy, you select the technique.

You can feel your reiatsu concentrating in your hands and hooves, until it builds into an almost painful burn.

“Cero Atropellando.”

Using your sonido you charge Giselle down, your fists clearing the way with two powerful, wide blasts. Then she finds your hooves trampling over her like tunderclaps. Each one knocks her back, dragging her along with your charge until you're hitting her with your back hooves, crushing and burning and concussing.

After trampling her for several seconds, an eternity in combat between foes as fast as arrancars and Sternritters, you finally pass over her like a breaking storm.

You turn back with a series of short steps, a carefully choreographed sequence.

Giselle has rolled to her feet, bruised and burned but not bloodied.

She stares at you hatefully.

“Trampling me underfoot,” she growls. “Breaking my toys. And not even letting me use my blood on you.”

“Unacceptable!” she barks. “You'll be so much more obedient when you're dead, bitch!”

In a mass of reiatsu, she starts to release her own 'ultimate form'.

If there's one thing you remember Ichimaru Gin telling you when he was teaching you how to be what he would call 'underhanded', it's this: almost everyone forgets that 'powering up' has an opportunity cost. Some people release so much reiatsu while they're doing it that they're essentially cocooned by it, and others take precautions. Occasionally you'll run into a warrior whose release happens quickly enough that there is hardly an opportunity there to exploit, into which category Ichimaru himself falls.

Giselle Gewelle has neither the benefits of preparation, nor those of great speed or power.

In other words she's leaving herself wide open. It would almost be rude not to take advantage of that opportunity.

You heft your lance over your right shoulder, and swiftly build reiatsu on the rear-facing head.

“Lanzador Verde.”

With a rapid series of sonido to accelerate, you hurl the spear and allow the reiatsu to flow across the surface of the lance and combine at the rear point, pushing it forward with insane velocity. The pure kinetic force behind that leading point comes to a halt against the Zombie's upper left ribs for a split second as it meets her Blut, then it cracks through that barrier and whisks the Sternritter right off her feet. Any blood she lost is incinerated, and her body is slammed through no less than three buildings before coming to rest against something that must have been substantial enough to halt its progress.

Your sonido bring you close to Giselle Gewelle, close enough to see the damage that your projectile incurred. Instead you find the lance embedded in a wall, and running a quick cero along its length purges it of any traces of blood.

The victim of its unrelenting power on the other hand seems to have broken off somewhere in the third building, her arm having been totally severed. It's not lying anywhere nearby when she emerges from the rubble, wound either seared shut by the lance's passage or stopped from bleeding by her Blut.

“I can't find it...” she mutters, eyes darting around. “My arm... where'd my arm go?”

“Give it a rest, Giselle Gewelle,” you suggest, lifting your lance into position once more. “If you could find that arm maybe you could continue fighting, but you've literally lost it.”

“It's not over yet, bitch,” she growls angrily. “You're not gonna kill me that easily.”

This next technique of yours is one you have never tried before, for lack of any real need. Instead of releasing a cero you build it up in your hands and hooves, and in your horns, and slowly begin rotating the lance over your head. The power flows through your whole body from the wide base of your stance and into your fingertips, where it flows into the lance over your head as it spins and begins to glow.

When Giselle reacts, perhaps realizing what it is you plan to do, you rush to complete the technique.

“El Mármol!”

All of the compressed spiritual energy you've built up to that point releases in an unstable corona, like a pink-tinted wildfire that spreads in a wide orb away from your body. Its movement may be slow but it's irresistible, completely ignoring any buildings or artificial barriers. The flames simply wash over these hard surfaces, leaving them scorched and steaming at its passage.

No, this isn't a cero which cares about such things. This is a cero which seeks only the soft, unprotected flesh to consume in its flames. It seeks out isolated corners and flows through doorways and windows, ever expanding and burning.

For at least a kilometer or two around you, not a single corpse could possibly have survived.

Giselle's body is steaming and her clothes are blackened, but she's clearly still able to fight. However the quincy clearly understands what you've done, if she didn't suspect it before.

“You bitch,” she states quietly, almost entirely devoid of emotion. She doesn't sound angry, or even especially shocked at all.

“I'm going to kill you, turn your corpse into a puppet,” she tells you in that same quiet deadpan, “and abuse that corpse in every way possible until it breaks, with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.”

“I doubt it,” you counter, raising your lance. “I've seen no evidence that you have a heart.”

“Look who's learned to talk so big,” Giselle scowls.

>Take her head or destroy it, put an end to this thing that's lost all vestiges of its humanity.
>Smack Giselle around a bit, give up the chance of a quick win to play it slow and safe.

You never let up on her.

With a roar you fall on her, trampling her underfoot and smashing her with your lance whenever she tries to recover. You blast her with full-powered cero, shower her with a hail of bala, and manage to evade or directly counter all of her own one-handed attacks.

She grows increasingly reckless and desperate in her attacks, each rebuffed by any and every possible combination of ceros at your disposal.

Then eventually she starts trying to escape... you realize she's trying to make it beyond the radius that you incinerated. Needless to say you refuse to allow that, keeping her effectively corralled within about a single kilometer of where she started.

“I'm not going to allow you to get away with violating the dead again,” you inform her as she trails smoke from her burned skin.

“You explained your ability, you held back your power, you performed a stationary transformation... you made every single arrogant mistake that I imagined you might.”

You continue to administer the methodical beatdown, never drawing any blood, even as you speak. There's no way you're about to let her take any cheap shots at you while you lecture her... that would be embarrassing.

Her hair singes, her skin cracks, and her clothes burn.

Eventually Giselle Gewelle simply stops moving. Her defense drops, and she takes bala after bala to the face and shoulders.

Then, you pause to assess.

Her breathing is shallow and strained, her eyes unfocused.

“What is going on here?”

A dark-haired woman and a woman with long tresses of blonde hair have joined Kurosaki Ichigo, whom you recognize. The latter woman looks like she could be his mother, who you heard was kidnapped by Aizen's subordinates. With them is also a dark-haired young man in white, who looks to be related to the woman.

It was the dark-haired woman who spoke, her arms crossed testily as if anticipating a reply.

>This woman's power is tied to her blood. This is how I can fight her without drawing blood.
>I'm killing an enemy. Taking it slowly means less chance of making a fatal error.
>She speaks of collecting arrancar and shinigmi like toys. Pitying her would be a mistake.

“This woman speaks of collecting arrancar and shinigami as though they were toys,” you explain, your eyes never leaving Giselle for an instant. “Bambietta Basterbinne even referred to her as 'a fate worse than death', and wanted to see her killed.”

“Even still, there's no reason to torture it,” the dark-haired woman insists, producing a glowing shortbow from her hand.

Your eyes widen in an instant as you turn to shout at her. “No, wait!”

Too late.

The dark-haired quincy looses an arrow of light at Giselle, who moves with alacrity that honestly surprises you given her state. The arrow pierces her remaining arm and tears through her shoulder, and by the time you've turned to respond Giselle has thrown herself at you and swung that arm.

Your left arm comes up instinctively to keep the blood off your face, and it works... though you've definitely been exposed to whatever Giselle's blood does to a living arrancar like yourself.

You know that you have no time to hesitate.

Paradoxically, it makes sense to seal your zanpakuto... but not in a way that would be considered 'normal'. Instead you concentrate a massive amount of the reiatsu produced by your resurreccion into your left arm, thereby lowering the amount of power in the rest of your body that you have to seal back into Gamuza.

Once your sword is available again, you slice away the arm you compressed your reiatsu into and immediately release the blade in your right hand. Your own wrist falls neatly into your palm and you sling it towards Giselle just as the mass of reiatsu within it starts to lose cohesion.

The blast throws you backwards, slamming you into a wall... for the second time in mere seconds there was no time to prepare. For a while you can see nothing but stars, before you can finally take an assessment of what happened to the others.

The dark-haired woman is slow to get to her feet, helped by Kurosaki's mother. It seems the boy used his own body to shield her, coming out singed and disheveled but otherwise fine.

Ishida holds his left shoulder, the arm hanging limp, as he stands over where Giselle Gewelle stood a moment before.

“How can she still be alive?” he demands angrily.

Your hand finds the hilt of your sword.

“Wait,” the dark-haired woman demands.

“No,” you find yourself snarling back with anger that surprises you. It takes you a deep breath to calm yourself.

>It's fine if you want to be the one to do it, but this MUST end with Giselle Gewelle dead.

“This woman uses her blood to infect and control people,” you tell the newcomers, “like puppets, playing with them for her own gratification.”

You wince as you burn at the stump of your arm, ensuring that the blood loss will be limited.

“Your interference has already cost me an arm. When this is over I expect an apology.”

The woman opens her mouth as it she's about to start arguing with you, but she's interrupted by a single burst of reiatsu and the distinctive sound of a spiritual arrow in flight. Both of you turn to find Mrs. Kurosaki standing calmly with a reishi shortbow held out in her hand.

“Masaki!” the dark-haired woman protests.

Kurosaki Masaki throws a sharp glare at her. “Kanae, she was right. You need to stop thinking of these people as our friends just because we share a fraction of our blood in common.”

“Mom, she's still alive,” Ichigo comments, seemingly disconcerted. “Even with that arrow in her brain.”

“How ridiculous,” Ishida Uryū sighs, before taking a closer look at what he presumed to be a corpse.

His eyes narrow. “I stand by my previous words. That is ridiculous.”

Kurosaki Masaki tosses a tool to Ishida, like the silver hilt of a sword. “Use this. Your Blut should make it impossible for her to infect you, especially if you're careful.”

“Why me?” Uryū protests.

“Well Ryūken is a doctor, and you do take after him...”

Uryū's eyes narrow. “In what sense.”

“In the sense that...”

Your own zanpakuto streaks past Uryū and impales the same hole that Kurosaki Masaki left.

“That will kill her for certain,” you interrupt. “My reiatsu is still fundamentally that of a hollow. You understand what that means of course.”

“It... hurts...”

The pitiful sound that escapes Giselle Gewelle's lips... even though you've had a glimpse of what she is, of the reasons why Bambietta Basterbinne found her so repulsive...

“Aizen said... it wouldn't...”

Her reiatsu is gone.

After a few moments, you shake your head and sigh. “How dirty, to make me pity her at the last second... just a little.”

“Now step back while I incinerate the body.”

The quincies stare at you in various degrees of surprise and confusion.

“Just to be safe,” you explain. “And beside, it wouldn't feel right to just leave her like this.”

Kurosaki Masaki nods in agreement. “Then do so quickly, because I feel we have quite a bit to talk about.”

You hold up your hand. “Kurosaki Ichigo, you see to your family and friends. I shall do the same. Those are our respective duties.”

However, you are grateful enough to pause before you leave. “You have a kind heart, Ichigo. Thank you for offering.”

You give him a quick peck on the cheek before heading off. For this to work, it would be best if you got some distance from either Ichigo's group or Rukia and Arisawa's.

Now that there are far fewer powerful arrancar and quincies fighting, your pesquisa has a much easier time discerning the situation. You can feel that there are traces of Pesche and Dondachakka's reiatsu still lingering, and so you head straight for the nearer of the two.

That would be Dondachakka's reiatsu, which is clinging around the edges of a hole that seems to look down on pale, moonlit white sands.

“Hueco Mundo?”

The question in your mind is easily answered. Those sands are clearly Hueco Mundo, and the next logical question of “how” is one you're so ill-equipped to answer as to make asking it pointless.

You're having some trouble sensing Pesche from this distance, but it seems like he's laying low and keeping his reiatsu suppressed as best he can. Which is good, with no espada left to track them down you doubt that there's any immediate threat to his life if he keeps his head down.

Dondachakka on the other hand has strayed much further afield and is in a more uncertain situation, so you feel it necessary to secure his safety first. Also, while you'd hate to have to tell him? He's the worse of the two when it comes to things like fighting and even 'common sense'.

And Pesche doesn't exactly set a high bar to begin with.

So you find yourself dropping down into Hueco Mundo, falling through the air until your pesquisa tells you you're close to the ground. You slow your own body with a cushion of reiatsu that presses up against your body, until you eventually hit the sand and roll to your feet... but only just. The loss of your arm has thrown off your balance somewhat, and you forgot to factor that in. Ideally you won't have to get used to that.

“It's been a little while,” you muse, glancing around your surroundings. “There's a quartz tree.”

It's... not exactly much to look at.

Your pesquisa isn't telling you much, though you do get a strong sense that there's a powerful arrancar in... well, it's the direction most opposite that of the moon right now. Still that familiar face, a darkened hole through it like the one through your own body.

You decide to head in the direction opposite that powerful reiatsu, realizing that it's probably what Dondachakka would do if faced with the same choice. And so if you do that, using your skills at pesquisa you should easily be able to find him.

Dashing across the white sands you sense the reiatsu fading into the distance... if whoever that was noticed you, they choose not to pursue. Which is a good sign at least, considering the fact that you've lost an arm already today and stand to lose more than that if you got into an ill-considered battle here. If it's someone like Ulquiorra for example there's no way you could win like this.

You quickly get a sense of someone ahead of you, an arrancar by the feel of it.

Stopping short, you see a familiar large frame and hear an equally familiar bawling.

“Dondachakka?”

The arrancar's eyes snap up in instinctive fear, before realizing who that voice belonged to.

“Lady Nel?” he gasps. “Lady Nel!”

“Hey Dondachakka,” you force a smile. “Sorry it took a while.”

“Lady Nel what happened to your arm!?” your fraccion blubbers. “You've been fighting that hard to find us?”

“Of course,” you insist. “Come on, dummy. You knew I'd be back for you, right?”

“But for us, who weren't even strong enough to escape ya know...”

“Stop that,” you insist sternly, before softening your tone. “Tell you what. You stop talking down about yourself, and I'll stop blaming myself for getting you into this situation in the first place.”

“Sound fair?”

After considering it for a few moments, Dondachakka nods. “Well when you put it that way, ya know... sure, I guess.”
