The Spritelings hate the light. They hide in caves and cracks and run down old places, bleeding from the cracks in the walls and coalescing around the shadows.

At night, they rage and raid.

Our job is it to bring the light to them, with torchlight and steel and courage.

The Dig is where we must aim, to disrupt whatever the Spritelings are doing. These old mountains were once scouted by the Devalliers Mercantile Group for their iron ore, but they gave up the venture for misfortune and mismanagement. Something twists, here, draws the Ghasts like a beacon.

Find it. Contain it.

in the Crackcrown foothills, a small company of Lanterns met a bedraggled group of new recruits. The famed CAPTAIN VOIGHT had gone missing, and with him, the group meant to contain the Spritelings in this area.

The captain was not found, but a local hermit named Venitivios was. He appears to live alone in his hut with only his dog Certus for company. Unfortunately much like Captain Voight, Certus is also currently missing.

A sudden attack from forces unknown and unseen resulted in the hermit hut being blown up and, stretched in engagement with ghouls, gaunts and other, worse things, the Lanterns opted to retreat to the burning remains of Venitivios hut.

And that's where we find ourselves. . .

You use 3d6 to perform an action.
You want less than your relevant Path, Skill or other. New Model Soldier grants Pistol-12, so you want less than 12.

The outcome of the action is the damage of the gun, or 2d6. That happens later.

Your Pistol Path is also used to clean jams, identify weapons, consider other approaches, tell you things about pistols in general and other such like.

You can freely accept a penalty to your effective skill level to do more things. This is commonly the Iron Circle, and works on the logic of -1 to your effective skill being +1 output, a called shot at -3 or other, increasing difficulty, or some special trick.

Erica strides forward to attack the Wretchweave and her sword brings it off-balance. Then thunder rolls across the hills as Sun Li-Chen fires his pistol, the bullet piercing through armor plate and ichor-fed muscle. Bits of the wretchweave drop to the ground around Erica but it has an ally, a nightglaive that strides forward to swing its heavy cleaver against her shield.

Hurric and Ngiervos fend off the archers, Hurric moving in to bring one down. Around Ngiervos, the world bends[/i] and a tendril of force whips at his hands, his heavy spear slipping from his grasp.
