The lovely elven princess is wearing a long, white dress that leaves her shoulders exposed, with a small but coquettish cleavage window in the front and the back. The dress looks rather heavy and hard to wear, as the skirt is rigid and its long gloves seem both tight and thick, albeit soft.

In the drawing room, we find snacks and tea next to a few comfortable love seats, as well as a paintor [Craftsman], ready to paint our portaits while we wait for Stella to come home.

Well, that's because a drawing room is meant to entertain guests. In later ages, it will be emulated by normal people and eventually turn into what is normally known as the living room, though.

The paintor seems to be at a moderate level, but since that only really affect his mana pool and chances of creating a enhanced or slot-rich item, we can't judge his ability as a paintor based on it.

Furthermore, we know that the [Craft] skill is just a shortcut. A way to craft an item quickly, but it only allows you to craft items you would be able to make on your own at the expense of mana, thus his skill is very relevant.

“Are you enjoying your life here”

It was such a strange question. I was really surprised, then lost about the answer.

I was born in the Taza Blanca slave breeding kennels outside Albion. It is a very old and respected beastkin breeding business.

As high quality products, we were taught to read and write, as well as basic math. Of course, we were also taught about the history of the Taza Blanca kennels so that we could answer questions about it and advertise to anyone who asked.

I used to think it was the normal way of things. We got up in the early morning and went to lessons, then were fed and sent out to play in the grounds around the kennels. By the way, we called it the kennels because that's what our teachers called it, but I've later learnt that they were closer to what you'd call an apartment building.

Honestly, the Sion house that owns the Taza Blanca kennels considered themselves as the best in the business, and took relatively good care of us during the two years it took them to raise and educate us bfore sending us off to the market. The beds were small but clean, and the food was simple but tasty.

If it wasn't because of the look in mother's face, I would have thought it was a good life.

She looked at us siblings with a mix of love and pain. It was as if she wanted to hug and hold us, but was hurt by doing so.

We only saw father from afar. It was his job to dungeon dive in order to grind experience for us and help us grow.

Mother was given a year of rest after our birth, but by the time I was shipped out to market, I already had 3 new little brothers. She looked at my siblings and I from one of the kennel's windows as the wagon took us away, and it was months after mistress Stella bought me that I understood why. Our masters were taking her babies away, same way they did once every two years.

Mother was very beautiful, beautiful enough to be choosen as a breeder, but her sadness hung over her like a funeral shroud. Father was, likewise, the tallest and strongest of his siblings, which is why our owners chose to keep him and sell his siblings instead.

I wonder if mother and father were able to love each other. I wonder.

She was very pretty, to the point I am sure she would have been chosen as a breeder at the kennels. Over the next few weeks, I also learnt she is very strong.

Like I said before, they fed us reasonably well at the kennels. Everything was reasonably fresh, and the beds, while thin (to accommodate more beds per room) were clean, but had no sheets or blankets.

In mistress' home, however, I am afraid all of our self control has melted away. To the point it is rather shameful.

To begin with, we are given four meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. We are also sometimes given snacks, and the mistress gives us a small amount of money every month we can use to buy anything we'd like with. The beds are large, with sheets and blankets. We have pillows, too!

The really troublesome part is the food, though. Like I said, we were not raised in starvation, but we were taught not to ask for more, either! The first time I had a meal in the mistress house, though, I think I may have blinked twice and made it dissapear! I couldn't help it, it was just too tasty!

Apparently it all happened so fast, the mistress thought we were starving, and quickly had us eat more. This, too, dissapeared, and it was only the third serving we were able to eat in a normal manner.

The same thing happened on every meal since! I am sure mistress must think we're all gluttons, I am so sorry, it's just so tasty!

...really, I wonder where does the mistress get all of these ridiculously high class ingredients.

Our meals were doubled, then tripled, and I think I would have died of shame if the mistress' cousin hadn't set his foot down and forbidden her from quadruplicating it on the third week.

As it turns out, the mistress hunts everything herself. The ingredients are all tasty because they all come from unbelievably high-level monsters, which leads to things such as ambrosia, faery honey, asgardian wheat, dragon meat, and even phoenix eggs to make recurring appearances in the kitchen larder!

By the way, the sheets are 'loot drops' from a 'level 140 giant ram boss,' apparently. ...they're really soft. The blankets are woven in-house, thank the gods, though I wonder what a 'shaggy man-eater sheep' looks like... their wool is really warm, though.

After all, she's normally the playful type (more like a prankster, though?), so having a painting of her looking all prim and serious is nice, you know? Gap = moe, in the end.

Obviously, it took much longer to set everything up and pick a posture and background for her painting than for the craftsman to use [Craft]. Well, its interesting that craftsmen can use their skill to do complicated stuff like this.

Finally, Stella came back through the backdoor. The reason is that she came from a dungeon, so she would have made a mess coming in through the front door.

She even held back from coming to the ball room, and it seems like she's going to have a proper shower and a change of clothes before meeting us.

She's grown into a fine and elegant young lady under the pressure of her newfound responsibilities, hasn't she? Still, it is a bit sad that our puppy imouto didn't just use [Clean] and run over to get her head patted like before.

Aww... and here I had typed all this together with the friend I based Eldric in.

Since this scent makes us think of an old lady, we reach over for a handful of [Rare][Blue Faery Wing] flowers from our little sisters' vanity table, and lower them into an obsidian mortar. A simple modification of a [heat] spell is enough to turn it into a [dissecate] spell, and after grinding the results, we add a bit of the high quality alcohol we normally use in our university lab.

Hm... it doesn't seem to have a proper "tag"... something like [100% alcohol]. I guess this world's [System] doesn't recognizes it as its own thing yet. This should still work, right? I mean, this world has a JRPG [System] in place, but basic chemistry should be the same everywhere.

Its dissolving quite nicely, thank goodness.

Oh, it looks like our litte sister is pretty interested. This brat, she's never been interested in labwork before... *sigh*

Anyway, i is dissolving properly, so now lets heat it up gently... gently... yup, its starting to let go of a nice flower scent.

For us, we are getting workers who, once they get used to a peroper salary, weekends, pensions, healthcare, etc, they won't want to go work elsewhere because...

Medieval work conditions are pretty hellish. Rest days, pensions, healthcare, etc etc are a pretty modern invention, actually, so if they go back to their old employers, they would be basically go back to a life not very different from that of a slave.

Now, because the local guilds think that we would be training their workers into our knowledge and means for them, they'd happily accept conditions such as sendng us their workers or possibly even being THEM who pay the workers salary. Basically, they probably expect our techniques to be not much different from making a sword in a forge, but without our specialized equipment, they can't "print" a magic circuit, process high-quality lubricants and oils/fuel, make plastic, rubber, etc. They probably think its like making a wagon with extra, magical crystals glued on the right spots, but its much closer to making a WWII fighter plane, you see? Even if the workers DO leave us for some reason, its not like their old/new employers actually could build rockitships just because they had the workers.

(so unless there's a communist revolution and they seize the means of productions, we don't really care :P )
