The Lighthouse War is over, but conflict still continues.

With Erusea's defeat at the hands of the Osean Federation and the International United Nations, the imperial nation has splintered into a confusing mess of separatists, freedom fighters, warlords, rogue military factions, and those seeking to profit from the chaos. Worse, Erusea's many automated drone factories still remain intact, waiting for new masters to come to claim them.

The Usean continent remains in crisis, and it's up to a new generation of pilots to face this next generation threat...

You are MILLY, the "Red Tail", a Belkan Air Force pilot fighting for the IUN!

As you casually finish off the last of the bottle of Belkan brandy, you glance at the rest of your squadronmates, who had all already passed out from the first glass. Kinda shocked you a bit that they were all such lightweights. You figured Misono would be a bit tougher, and Bandit going down so soon was a big surprise. That normally didn't happen. Guess he was more fatigued from the previous mission than you thought.

Then again, maybe he found out something concerning regarding that mission in the debriefing. He tended to overthink stuff like a lot, honestly.

Still, you weren't going to be able to get all three of them back to their quarters yourself. Might as well call the MPs to handle the situation, or something.

Still, it was a bit early in the day and you were still off duty, leading you to wonder what to do next.

>Maybe a do some more training in the simulator.

Heh, well, you should go see if Karla was still around. After all, she seemed real miffed at the whole "terrorist attack nearly getting her daughter killed" thing and was pretty stoked for you going out and blowing their shit up. Yeah, she'd probably appreciate that.

You head over to the repurposed barracks area where all of the party attendees were temporarily being housed. By this point, though, most of them had already been sent home or moved into local hotels and accommodations. Honestly, you couldn't blame them for leaving as quickly as possible. The base housing here didn't really have a lot of amenities, after all.

You knock on the door of where Karla's been set up, and the door opens with unusual swiftness, a very tired and slightly annoyed Karla showing herself on the other side.

"Oh, Milly, good timing." Karla sighs. "Ellisa went roaming again."

"What?" You groan. "Really? Where's Jaeger?"

"Grabbing some supplies at the base store." Karla shakes her head. "But since we're on a military airbase, Ellisa's curiosity's been on overdrive."

"Of course." You frown. "Well, I'm a bit familiar with the place ,so I think I can help."

"Thank. God." Karla simply hugs you.

It was kinda nice, actually.

"All right, all right, lemme just think about where she could've gone off to." You say as you pause and run a mental checklist over the points of interest on the base.

First things first, there was the hangars, where all the planes were. Ellisa, like Karla, had a deep appreciation for planes, so maybe she headed over there. Then again, you'd just been there a little while ago and hadn't seen her. Plus, you knew Mead and her crew guarded the planes with great zeal, and you doubted they'd make exceptions, even for a kid like Ellisa.

You then see the control tower, where all of the airbase's traffic was directed from. Would be a good place to get a grand view of the base, and Ellisa was the type that always fancied herself in charge of everything. But again, that was a fairly well guarded area.

The only other possibility was her sneaking in the simulation room. You could easily picture that twerp sneaking into one of the pods and pretending she was some hotshot pilot.

"You know what, I think I got an idea of where she might be." You say head over to the simulator bay. "I figure she can hide out at the sim bay and fake being a pilot or something."

"That makes too much sense." Karla nods with unease.

However, it was still going to be a ways to the main complex where the simulators were, which leaves you and Karla walking on the empty pavement for quite a while. At least until Karla speaks up.

"Hey, Milly." Karla says, trying to sound nonchalant. "I don't want to pry or anything, but..."

She pauses for a moment, as if unsure if she wants to continue, but she commits.

"Milly, have you heard anything from One Belka lately?"

That causes you to pause. Your former comrades, or at least, people you THOUGHT were your comrades till they tried to kill you. Why was Karla dredging that shit up again?

"I haven't heard a thing." You shrug. "I pretty much thought they got dissolved after you were through with them."

"I was thinking that at first too, but..." Karla the shakes her head. "Nevermind. I'm probably just overthinking things. Forget I said anything."

"Right." You nod, eying Karla a bit warily. Why would she ask something like that out of blue? She had to have her reasons, but you didn't feel it was the time to ask.

Soon enough, you reach the simulator room, where you are greeted by the familiar rows and rows of pods lining the aisles. From all of the movement coming from them, you were pretty certain the simulator bay was packed to capacity. Guess after all the events going on, all of the IUN pilots were rushing to brush up their skills.

"Damn, this is more high tech than anything I've ever seen." Karla whistles as she scans the rows of sim pods. "Back in the day we pretty much had to practice everything manually."

"Yeah, I get it." Karla gives a bemused grin. "Though I know Lara and Amy would totally hate it. They're old fashioned like that."

"Oh, definitely." You chuckle. You could almost picture them sitting on a porch yelling at drones as they flew overhead.

"Hey Karla, keep an eye on the door. I'm gonna take a look around." You tell her.

Great. With the door covered, that gives you the opportunity to go down the aisles and glance at the screens showing the simulator scenarios going on. Now, if you remembered how Ellisa liked playing video games...

You see only a couple of pods that are running solo scenarios. The rest seemed to be in networked multiplayer battles, which weren't your concern at the moment. You take a look at the two solo pods. One was what appeared to be an F-15 doing high speed passes through a furball, blasting missiles in all directions. The other looked to be a ground attack plane practicing bombing runs. Seemed pretty clear who was who.

Then again, what if you were wrong?

And so you sit back and wait, looking at the screen as you do. If it indeed was Ellisa flying that F-15, she actually wasn't quite too bad. Probably a little below the level of even the Sea Dragon nuggets, but that was still quite the achievement for a girl her age. You watch as she puts the F-15 in a power climb, rapidly gaining altitude before doing a vertical somersault and plunging back down, guns and missiles blazing it she tears into the simulated Su-27s attempting to chase her.

Honestly, you wonder if Karla had actually given her some sort of training or not. No way a kid could be a natural like this.

Finally, the simulation ends as all the enemies are eliminated. The pod door cracks open, and sure enough, there was Ellisa! The little twerp! She hasn't even realized you were waiting for her just yet!

Unfortunately, the little devil is just a tad too quick, and she swiftly sidesteps your lunge.

"Too slow, Milly!" Ellisa cackles as she dashes off for the door.

"Karla! It's up to you!" You yelp as the twerp tries to escape.

"Ellisa, you are in SO much trouble!" Karla glowers as she moves to intercept her daughter.

"Only if you can catch meeeee!" Ellisa laughs as she almost manages to sidestep out of her mother's reach and makes a beeline for the door-

Only to crash right into Alanna as she enters the doorway. The Ustian pilot stumbles backward in surprise, while Ellisa is knocked flat on her butt, stopping her long enough for Karla to scoop her up.

"I'm so sorry about that." Karla apologizes. "She does get a bit troublesome at times.

"Hey, um, thanks for helping us out." You mumble as you step up and give Ellisa a little punishment noogie. "This kid here tends to get herself into a lot of trouble."

"I was totally fine!' Ellisa whines, sticking her tongue out at you.

You almost swear you could see a the beginnings of a smile tug at the corners of Alanna's mouth, but she maintains her cool, stoic demeanor.

"Well, I suppose I won't have to report this to base security." She responds. "And I'd like to think the Valkyrie herself will owe me a favor now."

"You recognized me, huh?" Karla groans.

"It's not exactly that big of a secret." Alanna shrugs. "Though I suggest get moving before the current training session ends. The other pilots may get a little more... excited if they see you in person."

"No, you just think you can." Karla groans. "You are SO grounded when we get home!"

"Anyways, Karla, I gotta ask you." You narrow your eyes. "What did you mean when you were asking me about One Belka earlier?"

"Who?" Ellisa blinks curiously.

"Just a bunch of bad people, honey." Karla pats Ellisa's head before turning back to you. "It's... well, there's just been a lot of disturbing rumors that they're back. Or at least, there's a new organization with similar goals and methodology."

"And you think they've got something to do with all the crap going on in Usea?" You ask.

"Unfortunately, the rumors that Erusea's drone technology was provided by Belkans is true." Karla glowers. "Looks like there's a group intent on stirring up trouble in Usea to try and suck Osea into another war, no matter how many nations they have to ruin in the process."

"Yeah, that's going a bit far." You admit. "I mean, I can understand wanting to settle scores with Osea, but dragging other countries into it? That's fucking low."

"Starting wars period is a shitty thing." Karla sighs. "And starting wars hasn't done Belka any good in recent history. Bastards like the Gray Men and One Belka aren't interested in making things better. They just want to make the world burn."

Well... you couldn't argue against Karla about that.

"Hey, since you seem to be in the know...." You decide to change the subject. "You ever heard of an ace nicknamed End?"

"Doesn't ring any bells..." Karla frowns. "What plane do they fly?"

"Black F-16V with some red and white highlights." You reply. It stood out pretty vividly in your mind. "They were waaaaay better than any of those pirate pilots we went up against."

"I can only guess that they're some kind of merc. I'm sorry, I can't help you much there." Karla sighs. "Maybe Sam or Lara might know something, but I'd have to call them up."

"All right, I'll ask around, then." Karla nods. "Also, me, Jager, and Ellisa will be flying back home today, so it'll just be you and your squadron."

"Business as usual." You shrug. "But keep an eye out for MY name. Raven Squadron is going to be put on the map!"

"And I'll gladly be thereto see it." Karla laughs. "Anyways, keep an eye on Bandit for me, will you? The guy's way too serious to a fault."

"Wait." You narrow your eyes. "How do you and Bandit know either other, anyways?"

"Heh, there's nothing romantic involved, if that's what you're thinking." Karla laughs. "We just happened to cross paths one time and that was it."

"Huh, all right then." You nod warily. Was that really all there was to it?

"All right, well, I should start packing our things since we'll be leaving this evening." Karla sighs. "It was nice seeing you again, Milly. Stay safe out there."

"Of course! Who do you think you're talking to?" You boast.

"It's exactly because I'm talking to you that I'm saying this." Karla chuckles. "Stay safe and give those bastards hell."

After Karla left, things were pretty quiet at the base for the next few days. Looked like with the pirate base and the drone factory supporting it destroyed, pirate attacks in the area had dropped significantly. That gave the IUN a lot of much needed breathing room for what you assumed would be their next big operation.

And sure enough, there was a call for all pilots to attend a new briefing a big one. You were already present with the rest of your squadron as Commander Downes shows himself again, no doubt read to drop more trouble into all of your laps.

"First of all, good work all of you in the past few weeks." Commander Downes starts off easy with some simple praise. "Thanks to your efforts, the immediate area around the Lighthouse has been pacified, allowing us to set our priorities on more... distant threats.

Again, the electronic map of Usea comes up again, with dozens of red dots scattered all over the continent marking what you assumed were conflict zones.

"Now that we have a secure base as well as additional manpower, we will start sending out IUN expeditionary units to assist local Usean member nations. Orders and mission profiles have already been distributed to your squadron commanders. Some units will have discretion to choose their own duty stations. This will be mentioned in your mission profiles if you are eligible. I expect all squadrons to be ready mobilize in forty eight hours. Dismissed."

Well, that was short. You shake your head as the gathered pilots immediately stand up and start dispersing, with constant chatter about where they could possibly be heading off.

"Ah yes, it's been far too long since we've gone without a mission." Misono's eyes shine eagerly.

"It was actually kinda nice..." Vicky mumbles.

"So what kinda shit duty are we getting saddled with, boss?" You ask Bandit.

"Take your pick." Bandit hands his mission folder to you.

"Wait... we have a choice?" You pause.

"Looks like we caught someone's eye." Bandit shrugs. "We'll get the pick of our theater of operations."

USEAN EAST COAST: While having escaped the worst of the Lighthouse War, the eastern coast of Usea has suffered a breakdown of local civil order due to many IUN and Osean peacekeeping units being pulled out or destroyed. Chief among the issues is a number of escaped Osean penal soldiers who have turned to banditry to survive.

USEAN INLAND: The central inland portion of Usea is a mess of civil wars, terrorist attacks, and civil unrest. Warlords run rampant and rogue drone factories continue to manufacture automated weaponry. The primary mission in this region will to be locate and destroy as many drone factories as possible.

USEA WEST COAST: While relatively secure now that Erusea is no longer a world power, the squabbling political factions within Erusea as well as its dozens of a breakaway territories continue to threaten to spill over into IUN member states. The primary mission here will be to keep Erusean military actions in check.

"You know, hunting some actual bandits would be pretty cool." You grin.

The pun is not lost upon Bandit, who simply gives a slight shake of his head.

"From what I hear, quite a few of them are hardened combat veterans, so it's not going to be a simple pirate suppression exercise." Bandit warns. "However, that does seem like a mission set suited for our capabilities."

"How are we going to get there?" Vicky wonders. "It's on the other side of the continent!"

"We'll be temporarily based out of the Admiral Andersen for the duration of this operation." Bandit responds. "The repairs on her have been completed and the IUN is looking to press her into service as quickly as possible."

"When do we leave?" Vicky says extremely quickly.

You couldn't help but smirk at Vicky's sudden 180 on the whole idea. Not even hiding her enthusiasm for carriers.

"We can get transferred to the carrier and leave right away.' Bandit continues. "All the other units have already been assigned so we'll be the last aboard."

"Let's get this cruise going, then!" You grin from ear to ear. Even if it was an Osean carrier, you were actually kinda excited at the prospect of being able to fly off one. You had received some training on performing carrier landings and takeoffs just in case, so you're sure it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

"All right, then we'll get going." Bandit nods. "Everyone, get your things packed. The base staff will handle getting your planes loaded on the carrier."

Vicky and Misono were already practically gone in an eyeblink, leaving you behind. Damnit!

You swiftly rush back to your quarters and hastily pack up everything. Thankfully, you didn't bring much with you here, so it was a simple and quick matter. You manage to link up with the rest of your squadron and boar a bus set up to shuttle pilots and their support staff to the Andersen.

Unfortunately, you also find yourself sharing the bus with Orpheus Squadron. Uuuuuugggh, they were coming along, too?

"Hey there!" The big busty blonde of the pair, Angela smiles and waves to you. "You're also gonna be part of the penal hunting force?"

"Yeah, I guess so." You nod. "You pick the assignment or were you picked?"

"We chose it, of course!' Angela nods confidently. "After what the 444th pulled, I'm almost certain the remaining rogue penal units have to have a worthy ace in there somewhere, right?"

"You mean another Three Strikes?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Jeez, blunt as always." Angela chuckles.

"Oh no, we've always been a two woman team." Angela laughs. "Just the two of us is enough, I think."

You board the Anderson in a flash, eager to see who was coming along with you to the east. On the flight deck, you could see a few helicopters and Hornets sitting around, ready to take off when needed. Down below in the hangar deck, though, was another world entire. In addition to yours and Orpheus' planes, there were more squadrons of Hornets and Rafales, and even a single squadron of F-35Cs, which seemed to form the core of the Andersen's flight group.

You find yourself wandering over towards the squadron of Rafales, and you could tell that they were the newer M variants. They were also sporting the red and gold trip of Sapin, a local neighbor of Belka's.

Also, like Ustio, a nation that Belka had attempted to invade. Unlike Ustio, Sapin wasn't a breakaway region, but there was a stretch of territory that had constantly remained conflicted between Sapin and Belka, which has traded hands over the years and now remains in Sapin's possession thanks to the Belkan War.

It was a pretty awkward situation, honestly.

Well, despite the past rivalry between Belka and Sapin, you didn't really have much beef with them personally, other than the normal tension of being a regional neighbor.

"Don't even start with that." Bandit groans.

"Still, their planes are so pretty!" Vicky marvels.

"Aren't they just like, a bigger version of your Gripen?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Well... sorta... I guess." Vicky pouts. "Are you making fun of my size?!"

"....Maybe."

"Girls, behave." Bandit sight.

"Bandit? Bandit, is that you?"

And for the first time that you can recall ever in the history of time, you see Bandit go pale.

Stepping out from behind one of the Rafales was a tall, slender, and curvy beauty of a woman, who walked with the grace of dancer. Everything about her screamed seductress, from her alluring figure to her the smug, self assured expression on her face.

"Bandit, it really is you, isn't it?" The woman's expression brightens.

You almost swear it looked like Bandit was about to pull a "strategic withdrawal" at any second.

A good wingman always looks out for her lead, even when he doesn't need the help.

"Oho, what's this, boss?" You grin as you take a close position right behind Bandit. "An old flame from the past?"

"It's not like that." Bandit mumbles.

Meanwhile, Vicky and Misono keep their distance. Whether it's because they're not familiar with the situation or they were intimidated by this new woman's presence, you weren't too sure.

However, the woman strides up confidently to Bandit, a sweet smile on her face.

"Bandit, it's so nice to see you again. I never thought I'd be able to do this!"

She then slaps Bandit on the face with a loud SMACK that echoes throughout the hangar deck.

"Sofia, it's good to see you, too." Bandit replies simply, his stricken cheek quickly turning red and swollen.

Yep, these two definitely had a past.

"I see you have a new wingmate, too. Are younger girls your type?" Sofia continues, scanning you with very interested eyes. You almost feel a bit violated under her intense gaze.

"It's not like that, Sofia." Bandit sighs. "Her name's Milly. Milly, this is Sofia, an... old acquaintance."

"Just an acquaintance?" Sofia gives a mock pout. "Perhaps I should've slapped you harder."

Shit, now things were getting REALLY interesting here.

"So... were you two actually a thing?" You ask rather bluntly, pointing to both Bandit and Sofia. "Was it like, just a friendly rivalry sorta thing are were you two straight up banging?"

There's a brief moment of silence as everybody tries to process your words.

Sofia then just starts bursting out in laughter while Bandit just shakes his head, looking like he's just suddenly been hit with a migraine. Vicky and Misono continue to look on with a mixture of concern and confusion.

"I think I like this girl, Bandit!" Sofia manages to wheeze in between laughs. "Wherever did you find her?"

Looks like things were starting to get really interesting now...
