Welcome. ITT, I'm going to run freeform, solo RPGs. I will use the Mythic GM Emulator to determine the success and consequences of your actions. My role is that of an oracle; there will be no long-winded descriptions. Expect random and deadly games.

Mythic RPG: https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12904.phtml

You are going to play as yourself, the person behind the screen. The question is: how long would you survive in an RPG setting?

Please namefag yourself and roll 10d100 with each post. The rolls will be used for the GM emulator.

You can choose between 4 worlds.

FANTASY:
Kek's Isekai: After you've died, you are teleported by Kek to a fantasy world.

MODERN
/x/-Files: You are recruited by a mysterious organization to investigate the paranormal and conspiracies. You can tell me a paranormal mystery that you'd like to investigate, or I'm going to roll at random on the SCP Foundation website.

Zombie Apocalypse:everyone knows what it is.

FUTURE:
Stargate: You are recruited by a mysterious organization to jump through stargates and explores new planets.

Choose a world and describe your character (which is yourself). Attached is an example character from the Mythic book.

STATS
*Stats: Strength, Dexterity, Agility (foot dexterity), Reflex, Toughness, IQ, Intuition, Willpower, Wisdom, Charisma
*Skills: all skills, talents, combat skills, magical powers, languages
*Strengths/Weaknesses: (optional) situational bonuses based on your personal *background
*Inventory

Describe your stats in plain English using the ranks below.
Ranks: minuscule, weak, low, below average, average, above average, high, exceptional
For Stats, an «average» rank means the rank of an average person
For skills and other abilities, an “average” rank means an average person skilled with this ability, an average professional. Those with less than average ranks are skilled amateurs

The skills are freeform so you can list anything. Here's an extensive list if you need inspiration: https://gurps.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Skills

For the purposes of playing as ourselves, approximately what ranks would you say middle school, high school and college educations would give in their respective fields?
>>
>>3889017
Literally as ourselves?
>>
>>3892320
I would view middle/high school education as unranked or "minuscule" because most people have it.

As skills are in comparison to the average professional, a college education is an average rank.
>>
>>3892386
Yes, literally.
>>
>>3892403
Fair enough.

Using that standard, and given the demographic of people that I assume frequents 4chan, I expect we're going to end up with just about everyone with stats and skills distributed between below average to above average at highest; we'd all generally be rather average individuals.

Which is probably what you expected as well, given your comment about 'random and deadly games'. But I figured it was a good idea to check, since the example character you posted is a distinctly exceptional individual.
>>
>>3892474
Yes, I expect mostly average, untrained people. The example character is a legendary pirate, he's overpowered.

Welcome. You will both play separately in your own solo game, but it's the same intro. I will ask the questions to the GM Emulator in the spoiler tags.

The Chaos Level is temporarily set at 9 in Kek's presence.
Q: Can they keep their inventory?
Odds: Very Unlikely
Roll: 51
A: Yes

You were browsing the /qst/ board on 4chan when suddenly you died of a heart attack. You wake up in a dim lit, spacious Egyptian temple with ornamented pillars. On a cyclopean throne sits a frog monstrosity, its fat flesh hanging on the floor. It speaks to you with a cavernous voice:
"You've died." It laughs. "I'm Kek, god of chaos. No introductions needed, I hope. As you were a member of the 4chan community, you get to resurrect in a new, magical world. That's the pact I've made with your remote viewers and meme magicians."
He pauses, expecting you to die of a second heart attack. But the smell of incense burning in the room has made you a bit high and rather apathetic.
"Not bad, you've survived my frightful presence. YOU ARE QUIET, I CAN'T HEAR YOU. I'm bored. Let's get over with it and choose your new profession."

Roll: 42

Q: Does Kek forgive him for understanding him?

Roll: 83
A: Yes

When you say the word "egregore", Kek visibly gets flustered.
"An egregore, you say?Do you think I'm ECHS?"
ECHS... That name sounds familiar. Oh, that's right, you do remember what it is from your studies. "ECHS is merely the egregore of the /x/ board... You are way better than him, Lord Kek."
Kek is impressed and satisfied that you have good knowledge of the Dark Lore and calms down. You got really lucky.
He raises his left paw: a flow of dark energy enters your body. "You are now a sorcerer. When you want to cast a spell, all you have to do is picture an image of the spell in your mind. This technique is called: visualization".
The chaos god then draw a sigil in the air and a black portal opens in the middle of the room. "Enter the black gate and your new life will begin." He then throws three little green balls on the floor. Three small toadmen appear in a puff of smoke, armed with little spears. "But I'll give you a chance not to leave empty handed. Defeat those useless henchmen of mine and you can collect their equipment."

Roll : 7 (Allies)
A: A human town, the best place to find allies
Q: What kind of allies is in front of him ?
Roll : 45 (Celebrate) of
Roll : 46 (Food)
A: a chef

The magic of Isekai begins. You don't feel anything as you jump through the portal, but this is usual for someone of your constitution. However, when you reach the other side, you stumble and fall on the paved floor. You find yourself in what appears to be a traditional fantasy town straight from an anime show. However, the people are not anime characters, they seem perfectly real. Is this a dream or reality, you can't know for sure, but it sure does feel like our Earth in all aspects. Out of all the terrible locations that Kek's portal could have sent you, this is probably the best possibility.
A middle-aged man with a big moustache and a chef's hat is standing in front of you and helps you to get up. You can understand him because he speaks English. "What happened to you ? You appeared out of nowhere ! Is that some kind of magic ? And what strange apparel are you wearing !"
"I'm Oscar, owner of The Rabid Owl Inn. Follow me and let's talk over a warm meal."

Welcome to Aermagh, the town from another world.
Oscar has a rather clean appearance, but the inn he brings you to looks absolutely filthy. There are only a few customers, drinking beer in a dark corner. All of the customers seem to be human. One of them brought his pet pig to the inn and it looks rather cute, but that says much about the hygiene standards. Oscar says, «wait right there» and then brings you a plate of stew from the kitchen. This is not the rat stew you'd expect from such disgusting place, but it tastes surprisingly delicious.
When you mention the dark god, you notice that he gets a bit nervous. «OK, that's a fascinating story, but I still have groceries to buy. Let's chat more another day.» He gets up from his chair and goes back outside.

Welcome to the Isekai!
On the other side of Kek's portal, you find yourself in a beautiful forest, with a subtly harmonious geometry and a positive flow of energy. It is as if the trees had been planted by a divine hand following the rules of fengshui. It is night time and you can't see much under the moon light. I interpret Exceptional Yes as the human capital being in the landscape

You stay hidden in a large tree for the night, and no animal or creature attacks you. Your will is forged of iron, thus you don't find it too difficult to stay awake. In the morning, hungry and tired, you search for signs of intelligent life. You reach the outskirts of the forest after about an hour. Farmland stretches in all directions before you and you can see a mighty, walled city in the distance. The landscape is familiar enough that you can safely assume that this region is inhabited by humans.

You walk toward the Adventurer's Guild following Wyatt's directions. In a narrow side street, a group of three thugs make you stop and take their knives out. Their leader, a large brute dressed in rags, speaks to you.
"Hey, you. Your clothes look really nice. I want them. Either you give them to me, or we'll slice your throat."

Their residence is a rather small, stone-built farmhouse. The façade is covered with vine; it looks quite charming. There's no one else that seems to be living in this house, nor is there anyone else in the area. All there is is chickens and pigs, and a black cat.

You loot the knives and 5 copper coins. Congratulations for getting your first Isekai money, but also for getting a first-degree burn from the ashes.
The inside of the Adventurer's guild looks much more refined than the inn that you've previously visited, it's perhaps Renaissance level in terms of looks. There's a heteroclite crowd of people hanging out in small groups, all geared with weapons; obviously, most of them are seasoned adventurers. In the middle of the room, posters have been pinned on a boards, some with the images of creatures; those are what you can guess to be, open quests. Also, the text can be deciphered; it's written in English. Next to the board, three women dressed in maid uniforms are standing behind counters. All three of them look really cute.

He only owns a total 30 copper coins; you take 20%, which is 6 coins. Congratulations, too, on your first Isekai money. The food is stored in the basement where the temperature is cooler. You find bread, vegetables, apples, what appears to be dried sausages and bottles of milk. They have a lot of eggs but that's not something that you could transport. Burlap sacks are lying on the floor. The food for two days travel can easily fit in just one sack.

A bearded man dressed like a farmer enters the room. He notices the sack in the kitchen and walks toward it to check it out; a possibility that you had predicted.
The spear is too small to reach him from the corridor. Partly hidden around the corner, you seize the chance to sneak behind him and knock him out.
The plan fails because the floor creaks and reveals your presence. The man partly turns his head around with a surprised face: you've been spotted. But you are strong enough to overpower him with a weapon, and knock him down.
Thankfully, the rest of the plan works. Your ability to make good tactics give you a superior advantage for this sort of situation.
You do not find anything to wash off your scent with but no one runs after you. You safely reach the capital; however, the tiredness from the lack of sleep is starting to get unbearable.

New Scene. Under control. Chaos Level dropped to 3.

Q: Does Terry sleep well?
Odds: ?
Roll: 60
A: No

You don't have a good night of sleep. You have a nightmare of deformed froglike creatures and an unknown enemy who controls them. In dream, you visit a frightening dark forest with nothing but shadows. More important than the trauma of dying of a heart attack, you have a new affinity with the shadows which you haven't had a chance to explore yet, but the core of your soul and your subconscious has been altered forever.
This is the residential, lower class district of town. The houses and shops all look more or less the same. In fact, The Mighty Elderberry Inn is the building that stands out the most, with its bright colors.
The streets are empty; there doesn't even seem to be an active night watch. They are also well-lit. Of course, not with electricity, but with magical street lights that provide a dim blue light to all streets of the capital.

The player will now experience pain like a normal human being.
Toughness stat dropped to Average.

The official happily welcomes you.
"We didn't expect anyone to help us when we gave the quest to the guild, due to the nature of the problem..."
He follows you outside to watch your meditation and exorcism.
Surprisingly, the exorcism does work. Your sorcerer senses tell you that this place is full of chaotic energy, but also, by Kek's rules, the flawless visualization must be rewarded.
You hear a faint echo of the dark god's mocking voice in your head.
"Do you like playing with fire?"
Your bloodied hands... You didn't feel anything before, but now you feel the pain of the first degree-burns.
The official, however, is very impressed.

From your night and morning scoping/recon, the following stores stand out.

2) The Hiding Dress, a store that sells clothes, masks, wigs and other costumes. The store stands out because, although open, it seems abandoned.
3) The Phoenix Feather, a creepy, black magic themed store. It sells potions, antidotes, evil trinkets, spell ingredients and more things that cannot be described.
4) A general necessities store that sells supplies specifically for warriors and adventurers, such as ropes, rations, belts, grappling hooks, pitons.

The Hidden Dress is an abnormal store that is hidden from the public. It looks different when inside.

Very strange. When you enter The Hiding Dress, the store looks a bit different from when you were outside. The place doesn't look abandoned anymore, and there's a man behind the counter. This is not a normal store, but a place that's meant to be hidden from the public, hence the name, The Hiding Dress. The owner is dressed eccentrically, with mismatched costume pieces and a Venetian mask.

"I ran afoul of a handful of scoundrels earlier, and would be willing to part with both of their blades at two coppers apiece. You can lift a broadsword, but you don't have enough strength to handle it comfortably. Likewise, you can wear a scale mail, but it does feel heavy to you. It would be exhausting to wear it all day. A brigantine, however, feels comfortable enough.
From a small test of sorcery, making a poofing sound, the armor and gauntlets don't seem to interfere with your powers.

Due to my advantageous sleep cycle I’m am up during the perfect time for robberies. After stowing away my costume in the chest and taking my spear, I leave my room and attempt to enter a neighboring room. It is doubtful that anyone would be in their rooms at this time of day and though thieves might claim the day, it is better to steal from those who aren’t around to protect their belongings. Once I enter the room I plan to take 50% of the coins I find and move on to the most secluded neighborhoods near the inn

I down know if I can pull off fashionably late, last time I tried it took me months to live it down. Then again, I didn't know what time it was when I started my adventure into this bizarre economy. Given that iron's cheaper than copper, I imagine it's either easier to transmute or extremely common in the region, likely both.

The doors of the inn are locked, so you can't easily enter. The locks don't seem very complex, however you are unable to open them. Perhaps it would be easier if you had the proper tools?
The neighborhood to the south is more secluded, and there are very few pedestrians outside.

I've spent fourteen years camping in the woods on a monthly basis, and every time I was out there I cooked my own food from scratch. Rice & beans, enchiladas, pork chops, taco soups, etc. Cobblers used to be a bit tricky but the last decade I've been able to consistently get a nice crust going in half an hour. I'm a hobbyist not a professional though, so I'd say Above Average is reasonable.

The merchant's name is Ashur.
Despite the change of cooking utensils, you manage to get the same nice crust as usual. It actually tastes better than usual because the peaches are of such high quality. When it's ready, Miss Caitrin is there in the common room, waiting for you. She's wearing a brown and white dress with long sleeves; the maid uniform is just for work. You make small talk and she tries out your cobbler. Unfortunately, she doesn't enjoy it at all.

She starts by complimenting you on your outfit.
"I'm glad you're wearing normal clothes. Not only were your short pants kind of ugly, but they were also unusual, and unusual is dangerous. The guild and this city in general can be very dangerous. If people know that you come from another world, they could kidnap you to take your powers for themselves. I've seen it happen too many times. You should really keep a low profile in general."
Although she doesn't understand everything you speak about, she's genuinly fascinated by your life story.
"I would definitely love to read one of your boring scrolls. Perhaps that could help me fall asleep in the evening when I have insomnia. Also, I would love to hear how you gained your occult knowledge. I know so little about sorcerers."
"My work at the guild is actually surprisingly tranquil. I meet all kind of weird people, and hear crazy twisted stories on a daily basis... But I'm always behind my counter, safe."
She puts her spoon in the stew but does not eat any of it.
"I admire the life of adventurers such as yourselves. Maybe one day, I'll explore this crazy world myself. Of course, the reason I work at the Guild is that I have such ambition. But for now, I haven't gathered enough courage."

"I'll be sure to pen another for you, some night. Something bold and daring, but somber and true-to-life where it counts. You've no idea how relieved I was to find that your world uses the same script as mine, learning my letters a second time would've been a burden I'd loathe to bear, though needs must and I wouldn't have stopped scribbling until my hands grew numb and the lids of my eyes lead."
>I lean in and whisper, somewhat apologetically
"I'm sorry I brought you here of all places. It's not the most sanitary establishment but it's the only one I knew and I lack the good sense most seem to have regarding cleanliness, though I do what I can to upkeep my hygiene. Oscar seems a good man, but his priorities are different from yours and next time, I'll be sure to find a more comfortable spot. Perhaps a woodland grove where I can demonstrate that sorcery in full, or another inn with more conventional decor."
>I lean back, pushing my now-empty bowl to the side
"You're endowed with an unrelenting fortitude and upstanding character seldom seen in the fairer sex of my world and likely here, I can tell. Few, man or woman are willing to stand conditions they find repugnant for the sake of a tale, but here you've not mentioned a word about the subpar cobbler or lack of sanitation in your surroundings, though I can see it in your face, not only statuesque in beauty but in its composition of rarest steel beneath the skin. As of yet, for all its refinement it is untempered and should you dedicate yourself to forging with the same fervour you've served a thousand adventurers every bit my better and score upon score of those beside, in time, the forces of darkness shall quake at the mention of your name."
"You need not think to spare my feelings. The notion warms my heart, though it was burned to a husk long ago. If you ever feel the need to cast off your duties at the guild and set out to make the wrongs of the world right, you can count a companion in me. In the meantime, it might be better to train for that eventuality in our off-hours. My lifestyle of quill-clutching and sigil-skimming left me little time to devote to martial endeavours, and were I not emboldened by the gift of sorcery and a lack of good sense, I doubt I would make a fourth-rate adventurer worth the bronze in his pin. That will change in time, and I imagine between the two of us, we could go farther than before. Of course, if you'd rather rest from the days diligently administrating the work of dozens lighting torches of righteous indignation against the shadows of chaos and those who aid and abet it, that too, is something I can respect."
>I give a warm smile, semi-ironically tipping the kettle helm

"That's a very tempting offer. On your first day, you've beaten the most difficult bronze-ranked quest in just an hour, so I know that you're not an ordinary person. But for now, I'll just remain a receptionist."
"The ranks of our guild are: bronze, steel, silver, gold, white gold, platinum, mithril. Mithril-ranked adventurers are living legends, there's only a few of them. Obviously, none of them have good hygiene either, it's a common sight to see an adventurer covered with the blood of baby goblins. Our methods of operation are very simple. Agree of Leadership
The goblins have found a new leader, their attacks are getting worse

"Everyone is a worshipper of Avdona, she's the only true goddess. Except for evil creatures and miscreants, of course. We have encountered quite a few terribles powers in the course of our work at the guild, such as Beruzebubu, Demon Lord Satan, Astarot, Baphomet the Minotaur and the Slime Lord."
She shivers.
"I can't imagine what it's like to be cursed by Kek."
The rest of the evening is indeed pleasant. Oscar allows you to sleep in the inn for free. You don't need to sleep behind the counter: the floor of the common room is covered with straw, you can sleep there. This inn doesn't have individual rooms. 1 minute of meditation is 1 push-up of the soul, it's good that you're practicing that.
When you wake up, you notice that someone has stolen all of your hard-earned money. Unsurprisingly, The Rabid Owl is not a very safe place.
The new quests available at the guild, other than the nobleman request, are:
1) A weapon store in the commercial district has been robbed. The owner is asking for the situation to be investigated.
2) It seems that the goblin tribes have found a new leader who has unified them, and their attacks are getting more audacious. The government has put a request to stop them and, preferably, assassinate this new leader.

Finding the weapon store is not difficult, because the front wall has been blasted open by a magical spell. This was a high-stake robbery. The most expensive weapon of the store, a powerful Fire Sword worth many gold coins, has been stolen. The owner is happy that the guild sent someone so soon.
>Do you have any suspicion toward your employees
"No, my employees are part of my family, I trust them and they wouldn't know how to use such magic."
>Was anything left behind at the scene of the crime?
"There was nothing left at the scene and it was a quick job. They destroyed the front wall and broke the protective enchantments."
>Has anyone else looked into the theft yet?
"No. You're the first person that the guild sent."
>Are there any known troublemakers or competitors who might have the motive to steal your goods?
"Not that I know of. I haven't had negative encounters with other store owners and there's no organized crime in this city."
Your meditation fails: you can visualize the shop but it doesn't help you to see the past. This type of magic perhaps requires a higher connection to a deity.

Yes, I set the Chaos Level at 9 temporarily in Kek's presence because he's the god of chaos and to make him more dangerous and feared. Also, I would use a Chaos Level 9 in highly chaotic places such as dreams and the astral plane.
The problem with Chaos Level 9 is that most questions get a "Yes" answer and then it creates so much chaos that the rest of the game gets stuck at this level.

Kind of neat how the lore's piecing itself together bit by bit. How does a regenerating apple fall under divination, though? Are fruits inherently divine, which is why I couldn't summon them?
"Hmm... Such a powerful spell might've left some residue behind. Do you mind if I take the divination tool for further investigation? I have an idea, it's a bit of a long shot but there's a chance it might work."
>If he doesn't object to my usage of the divination tool, I try to use it to track the trail of arcane energies the fire sword's signature might've left
>If he doesn't allow me to or I don't pick up on anything I can follow, I settle for investigating the store to find out what angle it would've fired from and judging with my intuition, whether it was the result of a natural sorcerer's casting or artificial tool's usage
>If I deduce it's the former, that narrows it down exponentially because I can't imagine a Theocracy would let magic users outside of the priesthood go undocumented, and I'll attempt to ask the merchant and guild about any known sorcerers, especially those with ties to crime
>If I deduce it's the latter, that still narrows it down considerably, given that the forging of artifacts usually isn't easy and its products are likely only accessible by a handful of high-end merchants and criminal organisations, from there, I can ask around and figure out who or what might be responsible
>Assuming neither deduction or searching the scene leads to any threads, I resort to a final question
"There... wouldn't happen to be a tracking enchantment on such a valuable weapon, would there?"

You fail to figure out how the divination tool works. Divination is your bane.
From the debris, you can't get a good sense of whether an artificial tool was used to blast open the wall or not.
However, the merchant tells you that one of his neighbors saw the perpetrator. He didn't get to see the destruction of the front wall, but when the wall was blasted, it made a lot of noise that attracted his attention, and he saw him leaving the scene. It was a person dressed in the black robes of a sorcerer.
And yes, the weapon has a tracking enchantment on it, this is a standard enchantment for a valuable item. The merchant can't track it himself, but he was hoping an adventurer from the Guild would be capable of such feat.

Several ruins

Apples are not associated to Advona, they are a symbol of chaos which is opposed to her.
>Sir, did you see which way the perpetrator ran?
"Yes, in the direction of the lower-class district, to the west."
Your meditation, yet again, does not yield fruits. Moreover, your third sense tells you that while you were meditating, something, likely the sorcerer that you're tracking, was remotely watching you and tracking you. That type of danger is common in sorcery, because from exploring what you're not supposed to explore, you are exposing yourself to forces beyond your comprehension.
>Do you know of any particularly run-down parts of town or sufficiently distant but near enough wilderness ruins the thieves might be taking shelter in?
He shrugs.
"Yes. The direction the sorcerer ran to is the most run-down part of town. As for wilderness ruins, there's The Savage Outpost, which is an outpost ran by rebels and outlaws, and the Town of Phantoms, a former outpost of our city that was destroyed by the goddess herself after they defied her. Both places, I don't recommend going to. If my sword is in their possession, then I might as well consider it lost."

I thank him for his time and service then exit with my bag of flour. Upon entering the inn once again, I go straight to my room and get to work. Nighttime will soon fall and in order to make my operations run as smooth as possible, I’ll need to make a few more legitimate purchases.

“Of course anything that occurs before the purchase certainly won’t be described as legal,” I muse to myself as I make my preparations. I cut two eyeholes into the third, empty sack which was perviously in my waistband. After shortening its length by a few inches, I set it on top of the black cloak I had bought the day before. I then turn my attention to the flour, lumber, and eggs and within the hour convert the three ingredients into makeshift smoke bombs. The flour won’t stay in the air for long but it is meant to be thrown near or at any opposition rather than my feet. The shavings I added from a bit of the lumber should act as an irritant. I carefully place them on top of the mask, which lies on top of the cloak, using its four corners it create a makeshift sack. I put on my sturdy gloves, put another empty sack in my waistband and with my bundle and lock pick set in hand leave the inn. Upon finding an empty alleyway I don my disguise

I’m back on the street with the Hiding Dress, Phoenix Feather and Adventure Supplies store. My first target is the supply store. Upon breaking and entering I plan on stealing any and all money left within the store. I also plan to take a saber, a pair of gauntlets, a kettle helm, a brigantine, two sets of chain mail, two containers of painkillers, a map of the region, and a compas. Since I only have on free sack (as the other is being used as a mask) I will equip a chain mail shirt and wear the gauntlets over my sturdy gloves

If everything goes according to plan, I will then go to the Phoenix Feather and take all the money I can find. I will also steal two healing potions, one strong healing potion, a potion of dexterity, strength, confusion, and death.

If my pockets won’t hold all of the money that the stores posses then I’ll simply take the silver, gold, and white coins (though I highly doubt there will be any white coins in these stores)

Once this is all done, I will return to the inn utilizing alleyways and the shadows whenever possible. Once I’m sure I haven’t been spotted and aren’t being followed I will take off my disguise, bundle it up and leave it in the alley. I will then enter my room with the loot, deposit it, and go back for my costume

A: Decrease of Nature
The thief didn't go toward Nature's direction (= outside town)

Since you seem confident about your plan and it's elaborate enough, there are no objections.
Ansgar examines your device with fascination, but he can't make any sense out of it.
Nothing of interest happens in the alleyways. You cross path with a few thugs, but they leave you alone.
Xaver's party, however, finds a lead. He finds dust and ash on the floor from the debris, perhaps because the sorcerer brushed it off, that indicates that he didn't walk toward the western gate of the city but made a turn north. From there, he lost his track.

>I ask Acelina to put her rogue skills to use and narrow down who in the northwestern region of the town would have both the motivation and sorcerous might to perpetrate the heist. She should then conceal her badge and ask around, implying that she's in the market for any blade with a powerful enchantment while Xaver trails her from the distance, ready to leap into action if her attempt goes awry
>Xaver has done well and eased the challenge of navigation considerably. For that, he's earned my thanks. I appreciate Ansgar's earnest attempt to unravel the mysteries of the divination tool, but it's clear to me that my sorcery is necessary to complete this quest
>I ask Ansgar to watch over me while I enter a state of deep meditation and struggle to reverse the tracking spell set on me. Should I fail, I attempt to puzzle out how the divination tool functions but if unsuccessful, cast a spell to try to improve my perception and do what I can to track the thieves

Huh, well that was anticlimactic, I thought they were two different sections of the same store. Looking back now, I realize I got that impression due to how my last shopping trip to those stores went. It was all treated like a one stop shop without having to physically go to each one. Anyways

Your meditation is surprisingly successful. Protective spells are very well within your grasp. Not only that, but as an unexpected effect, you are able to see inside of your meditative visualization the person who was previous watching you. It turns out that divination is a subtle and hazardous game where the predator can turn prey at any moment. The thief had set protective illusory spells around him in case you would try to cast divination spells on him again, but you can see through them. You can't quite see the details of his face or his location, however you can sense his intentions very strongly. He's been hired by a rival blacksmith; a possibility that you had contemplated in your initial interview of the victim.
A dozen minutes later, the black-robed sorcerer appears in front of you in one of the alleys, the gold badge of the Adventurer's Guild pinned on his chest. He doesn't attack you immediately, but taunts you for only being a bronze-grade adventurer.
Asgar is with you; Acelina and Xaver are on their own mission.

It's much easier to play with the lock now that you have the proper tools. However, this backdoor lock seems outside of your abilities to pick. It's not easy to get a good feel of the resistance of the pins inside of the lock, and they keep resetting each time you disable one or two.

Q: Does he eventually jam the lock?
Odds: Likely
Roll: 24
A: Yes

The back alley is very quiet and no one disturbs in your work. The blue light of the street light is weak here, but you don't need much light for this type of work. From this experience, you learn that it's easier to disable the least sensitive pins of the lock first, and leave the more difficult ones for the end. That way, you have less pins in your path. You do make some progress but you would need much more practice to disable a professional lock of this strength. Eventually, you jam the lock and can't practice anymore. With this new knowledge, disabling a weak lock such as the ones on the doors of the inn doesn't seem impossible anymore.

He answers:
"Fool! My sorcery is nothing fickle, I'm not a mere apprentice who doesn't know the limits of his magic!"
When you throw the device, he instinctively catches it. Follows your surprise attack.
Despite your preparations, your spells doesn't work as expected. You create a square-shaped static electricity field that shocks and numbs both you and your opponent. It's not something that an armor can protect against. Due to your cursed toughness, you can't recover fast enough; the other sorcerer has a better constitution. He grins and utters words of power in a language that you've never heard before. You can't tell exactly what the effects of this spell are, but you can sense that he has casted a protective spell on himself.

"The craven coward is you, who has treacherously attacked me with electricity while we were talking."
Your bold idea of casting three spells at once works, you manage to visualize this scene of utter chaos. That's good magic, however, your knife fails to even hit the target, due to your enemy's own telekinetic powers. What is a new idea to you, is a concept he's been experiencing with for years. Likewise, he jumps out of your tendrils with the agility of a cat. There's only the darkness that he can't get out of.
"Now, it's time for you to learn what real magic is from your master, apprentice!"
Out of the darkness, he casts an anti-magic field on you. You feel unable to visualize the grease spell. Even Kek's smug face is impossible to visualize.

His hold is perfectly tight and you have no room to move your head. The stench of his breath and his sweat invade your nostrils; it's absolutely disgusting. His next attack is a series of frenetic knees to your stomach. You're only a hapless victim. However, your brigantine armor absorbs most of the damage, and you are only stunned by the attack. If he makes any sudden movements to oppose me further I’ll blind him with the bombs and stick my two knives through his eyes. If he does not, I will feed him a story in order to aid my break in. Utilizing both my psychology and tactics skills, I surmise that any guard who would go out of his way to patrol the backs of stores is either paranoid, or desperate for action and I will use this to my advantage.

I will explain that I’m here to stop a nefarious plot being carried out by a band of Derro mercenaries. I tell him that under this very store the mercebaries are moving tons of explosive into the capital in order to launch an attack against the city. Their plan will involve using the explosives to disrupt tomorrow’s parade in order to distract the main forces of the capital. Once the guards have been mobilized away from the walls, a separate force will launch an attack against the city gates and an invasion will follow.

(I’ll be utilizing psychology, and tactics to persuade him. My strength, moot will make it less likely for him to deem me as a threat and deter him from take further action against me)

>my eyes are wide, my breathing's rapid, my hands are trembling with adrenaline, my soul surges with seething hate, and the only presence in my psyche is focused malice hot enough to melt butter
>some part of me remembers the effortless skill with which my opponent evaded my onslaught and dished out a flurry of blows that might've shattered my spine were it not for the brigandine, and it understands that my only hope of victory lies not in my hands, but the sorcery endowed on me by the ancient amphibian chaos god
"FUUUUCK."
>I attempt to bring myself out of the rage before it consumes me and sees my dumbass torn to pieces by the sorcerer's spells in the alleyway
>simultaneously, I visualise a torrent of grease coating the floor beneath the yadokai and jump backward, with the intent to be standing as he falls
>if I manage to knock him down and stay standing, I throw a small fireball into the combustible puddle he's fallen in, if I manage to knock him down but stay on the ground, I fill my hands with lightning, grip his rags, and release
>if I fail to snap myself out of the rage, I grab a nearby rock, try to trip the yadokai by his ankles, and cave in his skull while screaming

"Do you think there could be explosives in this alley?"
He listen to the rest of your story.
"I'm sorry, I'm feeling bit paranoid. Your look weird, but this is solid intel. Those damn demihumans. I'm going to immediately inform the captain of this. Please stay here until we come back with more people."
He hurriedly strolls back to the barracks.

Your mind is clouded by rage; your visualization of the grease spell fails. The man has turned beast. All that you can visualize are scenes of physical violence where you scream like a wild gorilla and crush his skull with primitive weaponry.
You try to trip him but it fails. The yodokai is too superior of an opponent in a physical fight. He circles you and kicks your face repeatedly with his heel, breaking your jaw. You are not the tough guy you used to be, but drunk with madness, can you even feel it?

Once he leaves, I mull over my options. Since the door isn’t thick, I could just use my hammer, create a small hole and unlock the door. Instead of doing this however, I decide to test out my powers. According to Kek, the shadows are his domain and he has given me the ability to merge with them. If I could merge with the shadows cast by the back wall and the door I may be able to freely move around within them and possibly slip through the door. From there I could take what I need, and get out before the guards return. If this “shadow travel” technique doesn’t work, I’ll simply use the hammer option

That's exactly what he was waiting for; he grabs you in the same position as before and unleashes a new flurry of knees. This time, he manages to hit the liver, and even your armor can't protect against the blunt force. This makes you feel disoriented and breathless, as if your head was put underwater. The shadows' whispers increase in intensity as you set your intention on merging with them. What they are saying is unintelligible, yet you suspect that if you could understand, you would lose any sanity that you have. You get the feeling that nameless horrors are watching us at all time and ready to invade the fragile stable world that we think we live in. Even the unintelligible words would have turned another person insane; only your knowledge of psychology helps you to stabilize your identity and emotions. This is your first successful attempt at merging with the shadows, but the shadows don't work according to the rules of our own dimension. What you think is a small step through the door, actually takes you all the way to the southern gates of the city, as if you slipped through all the shadows of the city. If anything, this was an exciting, albeit dangerous, experiment.

These rolls are hysterical and the update's got me a bit curious as to what the soldier and priest boons are. Maybe I can pull a fast one on the yadokai before he crits another attack where the sun doesn't shine, but with my sorcery back and the alley thief not intervening, it's anyone's game. I'm surprised he didn't go for a chokehold or broken femur but I suppose I shouldn't be, they're mischievous and he likely doesn't want to end the one-sided fight sooner than he has to.

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard the commotion or seen the violence?

You are too weakened, and your magic attack fails. The yokai’s relentless knees keep hitting you, aiming for your liver. Your breathless makes your abdominal area less tight, your frail muscles unable to protect your organs. Finally, your liver ruptures and bleeds, and you pass out. Your last conscious words are "Ghaaahagghaggh!", followed by “Ugh”. Behind the yokai, the black-robed sorcerer is laughing in the distance. Your second death is quick. As to whether you reappear in Kek’s abode or not, this is yet unknown.
When the creature is done with you, it runs back to its master and turns against him. Not protected by the proper spells or pact, as any wise summoner should be, the evil sorcerer is killed from one clean elbow blow to the left temple. Left free to roam in the quiet streets of the lower-class district, the demon slaughters many innocent people before it’s finally caught by a team of town guards.

///

I don't know what the soldier or priest boons are. The entire world is generated by the first scene, your actions and questions, my estimation of odds and expectations of Isekai, and the randomness of the Mythic system. I only know from what we rolled that priests have healing and divination spells, so they should be similar to a sorcerer in terms of mechanics.

You are now in the empty streets of the civic district. It's a broad concentration of imposing buildings, such as the Court of Justice, the Guardian's Library, a small garden and stables near the entrance. There's no weapon shop. The main artery leads to the commercial district to the north. Strangely, the night watch doesn’t seem very active in this part of town either.

Nice, I could've handled that much better and I paid the price. I was trying to send Ansgar to get Xaver and Acelina, but I suppose he either didn't catch my meaning or reach them on time. As I once again observe my surroundings, I begin to question my plan. Heading back up north would be begging for trouble seeing as I directed much attention there. However I can still pull of the gist of my plan using a few extra steps. I contemplate how far this will set me back as I search for a more secluded shop, one that looks upscale and yet not likely to be heavily guarded. The new plan is to wait until the early hours of the morning for the store owner to arrive as they’d have to be up before all of their customers in order to set up. The owners would have the keys to their stores and they’d be carrying a few silver or gold coins to be used for giving change. All I need to do is intercept one hide the body and be on my way. I can return to clear out the place later

Disguised, stealthily moving through the shadows of the city, you manage not to be seen by anyone. A secluded shop in a twisted, narrow dead-end street catches your attention: the "Reliquary". I look upon the store with some apprehension. A place like this will be fraught with danger. The owner himself could even be a powerful magic user. 1.) That's fine by me, 8/10 chance he would've died fighting the sorcerer.
2.) Good to hear the death wasn't for nothing, but it's a shame about the rampant yadokai
I think if I do start a thread, it'll be multiplayer, with the various self-inserts Isekai'd into the same initial location. Same choice of classes, or the bestowal of one of twenty low-to-mid end 'cheat' powers at random.

If I end up rejoining in the next thread, assuming the same conceit that I've been Isekai'd, should we start completely fresh or continue, with me having to convince Kek to let me resurrect somewhere else, then roll a 2d100 on this table? https://wrathofzombie.wordpress.com/2013/12/24/the-d200-side-effects-of-being-resurrected-table/

I’ll wait until it appears that “the day” has started. If this guy is an early bird and comes out before the streets become populated then I’m fine with waiting for a few hours. If not then I will find someplace secret to change out of my disguise. Given my class and the role I’m attempting to play here, time will often be a deciding factor which drives my decisions. If it’s not to much to ask, could you approximate the time of day for me every few responses? It gives me a better frame of reference for my activities.

Also, since this thread got saged a few days ago, when are you planning another thread? Are you waiting for it to get pushed down a little further or do I have to die first

Map of the region = 5 copper

The map shows the Malachite Theocracy, a landlocked nation. The capital Aermagh is in the northern part of the nation. The southern part of the country is blackened, with pig-faced orcs drawn on it. The northern region is foresty with mountains making the northern frontier, but going south, the terrain becomes desolate and barren. The other two main cities are Summerhold, to the south of Aermagh, and Redhold, further south. The blonde-haired goddess Avdona is drawn on the top right portion of the map.
You are now back in the inn.

I take off my leather armor, equip my brigantine, and throw my scale mail over it. I put on the feathered hat and drape my thick cloak over myself.

I equip my saber, two knives, and place the hammer in my backpack. In addition to the hammer, I also deposit my rations, sack mask, and lamp. In my first sack, I place my helmet, leather armor, rope and hooks as well as my spare change of clothes. I use the second sack for my coins and the flour bombs. I place the map and compass in my pockets

After eating the last bit of food from the farm, I leave the inn and head for the city gates. Once I leave I head in the direction of Summerhold

You leave through the farmland and follow the main road. All the people that you've robbed will never get a chance to catch you, now. You are carrying a lot of things, but you can still walk at a decent pace without getting too exhausted. When it starts getting dark, you reach the forest, a forest that looks like the one you started your journey in. It's said that the forests of the Malachite Theocracy have such beauty and peace because they are the blessed domain of the goddess Avdona, whereas the barren lands that lie further south have been created by the sins of the people. Before the forest, there's an inn. That inn has a strange shape, it forms an arch above the road like a sort of bridge. The inn is owned by the city of Aermagh, not only to offer some rest to travellers who need it, but also to stop travellers and make sure no non-humans enter the Aermagh district.

Of course, no one from Aermagh could bother you, due to your clever use of disguise. You feel that the inn's staff is watching you, but no one bothers you. The inn is incredibly clean, so as to keep away the dirt and germs from the "outside". The first thing that you notice when you enter is a stuffed orc head above the counter in the entrance hall, perhaps a symbol of the defeated savage outside. One night in this inn costs 1 silver and includes oatmeal as breakfast.
You begin your journey on the road through the forest, the otherworldly spear in your hand. The morning is quite uneventful, only crossing path with other travelers and trading convoys. All is fine until later in the morning. From the dark underbrush emerges a wolf, staring at you with its hateful red-shot eyes. It does not attack you, but stands in the middle of the path.

The wolf keeps staring at you for a moment. Then suddenly, it rushes toward you, circles around you with terrible quickness, and jumps at your arm from behind. Nice shot! You omnidexterously throw both flour bombs at the wolves, and hit them both. However, it doesn't seem to blind them nor damage their eyes in the least; it only stuns them momentarily. Angered by your act of aggression, the alpha wolf jumps your from behind and bites your armor, however it only breaks one of its fangs on it. The sky remains somewhat silent.

You pierce the alpha wolf's skull with one powerful hit. Contaminated blood and bits of brains splatter all over you. However, fear not: rabies is not contagious through blood, hence you're safe, at least from this threat. No time to waste: you quickly pull the spear out, then run for the trees.
You repeat your defensive routine, and the two wolves chase after you. The tree-shield tactic doesn't work so well because there's two of them, which makes them feel confident enough to surround you. The first wolf jumps at you, and you can impale it. Since you've already done it once before, it's not too difficult to repeat this move. As you're busy with this fight, the second wolf jumps at you from behind, but thanks to your armor, it cannot hurt you much at all.

Using your strength to its limits, you manage to push it away with some kicks and use the unbreakable toadman's spear to impale it on the ground. The scene of seeing the poor animal dying, the utmost terror in its eyes, is mentally scarring. Four wolves slain, the friends and brothers of mankind, noble hunters of the forests.
You continue your journey in utter silence...

C F Eb F...

...Or so you think. It's not so easy to stop whistling when you have tunes in your head. For lunch, you eat untasty rations.
Gradually, you feel that the forest no longer carries the ki energy of fengshui, or the kamis. Avdona's domain slowly gives way to a barren swamp, with twisted, fragile trees and a heavy atmosphere. No more bird songs but the croaking of frogs, and sick-looking bats flying in the sky. Probably, this is where the wolves were infected. Also, for this area, a lizard head is drawn on your map.
You've walked a lot, carrying a lot of weight. Buying boots for 8 copper was a good investment, but still, your feet are hurting like hell, and your muscles are sore. You've covered a distance of perhaps 15 miles, but couldn't walk another mile, even if you were chased by more crazy animals or demonic shadows.

A forsaken area. The area outside of the main road is most foul and the darkness is tangible. The air is damp; the ground is wet. The trees have the shape of abominable tentacles, eyes, mouths, forming aberrant shapes, coming alive at the corner of your eyes. For a moment, you can't tell which direction is the cart. Everything is the same color as the moonlight. Obviously, it's more than bad weather, but evil energies are at work. You would expect disgusting fishmen or even mindflayers to live in this environment, but it seems empty. Only more frogs and bats, and the faint whispers of mad shadows calling for you.

I return to the cart and try to convince the two of them that we should leave the swamp as soon as possible. I’ll load up as many cakes as I can and the three of us will ride off on the two horses

I’ve ridden horses on a few occasions so I’d rank my horseback riding skills as average. Maybe above average when you consider the fact that most people these days haven’t even been near a horse

I had missed the Beastman question. Beastman is their standard racial name, so it's not viewed as an insult. Beastman Kingdom is a literal translation of 獣人の国, the name in Japanese. The concept of political correctness is unknown by the inhabitants of Kek's Isekai.

A: Yes

As you describe the environment, Artus and Ari shake in fear. They agree to leave immediately and Artus thanks you for saving his life.
You skillfully ride a horse, with Ari behind you on the same horse, and Artus on the second horse. It's decided that Artus will ride with you until you reach Summerhold, and then you will part ways. Another good news is that he doesn't die of infection from the bite wound. It could have happened, especially with the moist air.
You reach the gates of the city at dawn. Summerhold has been built in the middle of the swamp, a massive city of stone entirely above ground. You didn't chat much during the travel as everyone was tired. At the entrance, in the style of Dracula, you're welcomed by the severed heads of lizardmen and other demihumans on countless spikes, casting weird shadows at the light of torches. There are quite a lot of soldiers protecting the entrance.
Artus says:
"Well, isn't that creepy. Last time, we didn't enter the city, we rode on the road around it."

I was kind of think about it in the sense that some cultures or countries may have different names than the ones given to them by other nations. It seems as if the humans are the dominant ones here (aside from the orcs) so I wouldn’t put it past them to dehumanize those without the necessary might to assert their own sovereignty.

Yes, good point. If we take a close look at the common race names, we can probably find one that is insulting and that they wouldn't use in their native tongue.

Estimated time: 11 AM.

Artus decides that he still doesn't want to enter the city, so he leaves with his two horses, and bids you farewell.
Ari wants to find an inn to sleep for a few hours and then buy a new horse. She insists that you'll have to sleep in separate rooms. Summerhold is a city the size of one district of Aermagh and reminds you of the neighborhood with a vaguely gothic architecture. Unlike the capital, however, the presence of soldiers is strong. There's an atmosphere of tension and readiness. The inhabitants are poor and crass. When you walk in the streets, some people whisper insults about the beastgirl. A group of ugly thugs at the corner of a street even makes "woof woof" sounds and laughs stupidly.
You try a few inns but they all say that beastmen are not allowed to sleep there, and decline you entry. They direct you toward the stables at the entrance of the city, which is more appropriate for a beastman to sleep in. Ari is not offended by this reaction, because as an ambassador who has travelled to many countries, she knows that humans tend to dehumanize other races. She walks with pride, her chin high. She also explains that "Beastman Kingdom" is a literal translation of the name of their nation in their native tongue. From what you can tell when she does a demonstration, it appears that their tongue is derived from Japanese but includes growls and other animal sounds. It kind of sounds cute.
You sleep in the stables for a few hours. In the morning, she asks, with flattened ears:
"That's embarrassing to ask... But I don't have enough money to buy a horse. Do you think you can borrow me 20 silver pieces so that I can buy one? I'll pay you back once when we are in my country, of course."

I’m actually kind of interested in seeing what the non-human kingdoms are up to. I have some plans to return to Aermagh at a later date, but exploring the world seems like a good use of time

I lend her the 20 silvers for a horse and look around for a magic shop. I get the feeling that rogues aren’t exactly flourishing here (aside from any organized crime that may or may not be present) so I decide to keep my antics to a minimum. I’m specifically looking for ways to strike at a distance. Putting a simple fireball enchantment on my weapons should do the trick.

We're at page 9. The Chaos Level was stuck at 1 but I restore it to level 5 to spice things up a little bit. Also, I feel that the Isekai world should never go lower than 5 because of Kek's existence.

It's difficult to find a magic shop in Summerhold, but there's one. The shop looks crazy and messy, with owls and ravens in cages next to piles of books, scrolls and items of unknown use. It's decorated with large bird sculptures and "strange and disturbing" mountain scene paintings hanging from the ceiling.
A fireball enchantment is impossible for this wizard, but he offers a wind enchantment. A wind enchantment is not as impressive as fire, but it could blow away opponents. You have a pocket slingshot from Earth, perhaps it's interesting to buy some ammo? Each Ball of Wind (slingshot ammo) costs only 12 copper pieces. Infusing a ball with some wind energy is much cheaper than enchanting a weapon to form a tornado from a distance.

How much would it cost to enchant two daggers, one saber, or a hammer. It shouldn’t be all that expensive since he can only afford to sell his services to those who can afford them and are willing to purchase them. I’m not opposed to using one use ammo but I’d like to avoid it if possible.

Q: Can Terry get a good price from the wizard?

Roll: 28
A: Yes
Q: How many charges? 5?
Odds: ?
Roll: 82
A: No
Q: Can he give a "quick" enchant?
Odds: ?
Roll: 28

Normally, he sells 1 tornado enchant for 10 gold, regardless of the item being enchanted. But seeing that he hasn't had many customers lately, he accepts to enchant for half the price: 5 gold. The number of charges that you get from each enchant is unknown, due to the chaotic nature of magic. He would accept to trade an enchant for items/horses of approximately equal value.
For a successful enchant, he needs to spend the afternoon on it, and the item would be ready by the end of the day.

Can you tell me how the charge system works here? Is it just a 24 hour thing or do I have to concentrate to charge it? Do charges carry over?

Q: Describe the event

Ari is not here, the event will be described later

Each enchant gives a limit number of charges to the item. Once they are used, they are permanently gone and can only be recharged by a wizard. It doesn't reset every 24 hours, nor can it be recharged if you concentrate on it.

I decide to simply buy three shots of the enchanted ammo. I’d essentially get the same utility. After I make my purchase I leave the store and wait for Ari. She’d probably sniff me out before I could find her.

I'm creating the new thread, I'll post the link when it's ready. You can play in one of the other worlds if you're bored of this one.

Q: Has Ari gone missing?
Odds: Very Likely (she better)
Roll: 68
A: Yes
Q: Does anyone recognize Terry?
Odds: Unlikely - 3 RS (Moot) = Impossible
Roll: 10
A: No

All right.
When you arrive at the stables, there's a commotion from a crowd of people looking at a dead body on the paved floor. The body is lying on a pool of blood; it's been bit to death at the throat. It's indeed likely that Ari would have sniffed you before you could find her, however, she's nowhere to be found. From what you can hear, that person has been killed by Ari.
"Those damn beastmen."
"We were too kind to let her sleep here."
"Their heads belong on a pike."
