+Intro+

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

Hi Skargan.

Last thread we rolled for Tartarus intel gathering:
>>4038912

Another outstanding issue would be to collate all that Trianon/Damokleon learned about the Storm Dragons, Dark hunters and other fated chapters to see if we can find any common themes. As well as the return of this force to Sector Deus.

Then the last remaining order of business would be the return of Elegion with Axon's task force.

Operation Stormchaser, while not completely successful, has nonetheless managed to collect a significant amount of data about the so called "Fated Chapters". Please roll d100 to see how much sense does it make...
1-10: It is clear now that...
11-25: While many details are still hidden, some insights have been glimpsed
26-75: Some myths, legends and stories seem to have aspects or datapoints that correlate, possibly a greater picture is hidden behind it
75-100: Nothing much can be said, apart from...

Upon their return to the Tombstone, Damokleon and Tempestos immediately request an audience with you. When you finally gather in the Strategium, they present you with the Journal of Proceedings, which they kept throughout the mission.
>Chapter Master, good to see you. After so many years... We did not always think that we will make it back. Emperor be praised, we did.
You notice that Damokleon's eye corners have more wrinkles than they used to.
>During the Operation, we visited a total of 14 worlds, questioned inhabitants, collected data and pursued leads. We have also, as you know, dealt directly with Storm Dragons and Dark Hunters. However there's something else we haven't shared yet. Before visiting Dark Hunters, we stopped in one of the void stations, where crew shared a very curious story about a planet lost in the midst of stars, coordinates on the edge of Imperial space. Allegedly, home of the space warriors guild, so called... Dawn Scythes. As it was on the way, we decided to check it out on the way. We did, and nothing could have prepared us for what we found. It was indeed a space marine homeworld, a Chapter Fortress and all, but it was... Empty. Dead. We visited it. It seems, they have departed somewhere, only a skeleton crew was left, less than a company. Then, something hit them. The Fortress Monastery was split open with some heavy bombardment, possibly sub-orbital, then invaded. The Astartes inside fought, bravely, but... They lost. They had their last stand in the Inner Sanctum, but not the Temple, as you would think, but Librarium. The last ones were cut-down while defending the Forbidden Section, where the especially dangerous or valuable items and scrolls were kept. Their bodies were piled up around it. Then, whoever attacked them, ransacked the place and destroyed most of it... The sight of this scene disturbed us greatly.

Poor Dawn Scythes.

Any indication of the weapons used against them? Impact marks? Casings? Energy signatures? Anything to suggest the nature of the attackers?
>>
>>4096570
Did we check their gene-seed stores?
>>
>The power-armours of the dead bore marks of the bolter damage. It must have been Traitor Legions, but surprisingly, the shrines were not desecrated. We saved what we could of their notes and such. Gene-banks were destroyed, krak grenades, by the look of it. Armoury, emptied. It felt like a tomb. We gave the brothers a hasty burial. Apothecary tried to check for their gene-seed, but it seems that it was either destroyed or recovered in all cases. We know that the doctrine regarding the dead and their possessions, which you have promoted in our Chapter has been... Pragmatic. However even then, we couldn't bear ourselves to loot the Fortress. Nonetheless, we have noted the coordinates, if you would wish to issue such orders. However we did bring back one item, which we recovered from their Chapter Master's quarters. Quarters have been searched by the attackers, but they missed a note of a printed soulword, which assistant-servitor clutched in his limbs when he was gunned down. This isn't just any soulword, it seems to be of encoded in a high-form code, I've rarely seen such, when I showed it to our Tech-Marine, he confirmed that it seems to belong to the family of codes used by the Imperial intelligence.
>>
>>4096602
If the shrines weren't desecrated and the geneseed was destroyed instead of stolen then it wasn't traitors.

I smell the Minotaurs. We have to be very careful with this coded message, whatever it is. The High Lords might not like it.
>>
>>4096605
>>4096602
Could be renegades who simply aren't into chaos as well.
>>
>>4096602
Who are our best codebreakers?
Obviously I'm very reluctant to let anyone outside the chapter see this encrypted message. What contacts do we have that we would expect to be privy to such codes?

When he says 'imperial intelligence' is he referring to the inquisition? Or more like the logis strategos?

>Despite this incident... We have managed to find quite a bit of other details as well. It seems that Fated Chapters have all belonged to the 25th Founding, which took place, depending on which records you believe, between late M40 and early M41. Earliest dates mentioned are 869.M40 and latest Chapter to officially belong to the Founding... Is ours, operational as of 307.M41. This would make for one long founding, over four centuries in the making. As far as we are aware, no other Chapters have been founded since ours. Also, we have a name that consistently appears in all records - Entyrus Zykion, a High Lord of Terra. We also know that he died before the Founding was completed. According to the documents from the Storm Dragon's archive - he was killed by a rogue Vindicare Assassin in 288.M41. Also, we have found references to new Chapters, to add to our list. One of them, Steel Shadows, seems to be a Chapter that was dispatched into the far east, to operate in the Segmentum Pacificus. According to Dravion, Chapter Master of the Storm Dragons, their Chapter is almost as young as ours and their Chapter Master, Nemesion, sounds like a very ambitious and thorough leader. Another one is Bone Warriors, much older than ours. They have already operated during the 12th Black Crusade, where they suffered horrendous casualties. Finally, there have been reports of another Chapter, they call themselves Striking Arrows. The only thing we have manged to find out about them is that they have transgressed against some commandment from Terra. Suprising, having in mind, that they have not been Founded that long ago. Allegedly, they had to take a penance of some sort. We apologize that we have not brought more, milord, however the events on Saladris cut our exploration short. Also, it seems to me, that the true answers to these questions lie not in the depth of space, but in the dusty shelves of some Terran archive. An archive, which is most likely secret and which people will tell us, does not exist. We must tread carefully, Chapter Master.
>>
>>4096662
Interesting info.

Commend Damokleon for his expedition and do a quick look through generic sector archives for any renegade force symbols or rengade astartes that look similar to the dawn scythes' marines or chapter symbol.
>>
>>4096623
While it is hard to say, "Imperial intelligence" implies that such codes of such type are used by numerous the Imperial factions, excluding Astartes, who have inherited a separate type of coding techniques from the time of the Legions, though there's still a lot of overlap. Someone with advanced codebreaking skills would be required to specify which faction.

Currently your Chapter does not have dedicated codebreakers, however Xyptus would most likely be able to find someone outside the Chapter to help you decode them.

Rolled 37
Strength of Spy Network (Subsector Cryptus) 75% [ Tartarus focus +10]
b) Read Tartarus' station logs (-20 modifier, advanced info)
>It seems that over the past few years Tartarus has started receiving a much increased stellar traffic, and not the good kind. If earlier around 50% of visitors were of Imperial origin, by now, less than 15% are Imperial ships, others are pirates, privateers, Styrian-affiliated captains and even xenos. Most notably of all, a decision has been taken by Daikan Alepros to allow an Orky Kvarter to be built on a neighbouring asteroid, where Ork mercenaries are allowed to visit and spend time, allegedly under the supervision of Brok Racksmasha. Nowadays there are anywhere between two to four Ork vessels docked there at any point, as Tartarus seems to be a good place to get some advanced dakka in exchange for shiny useless bitz. However, for some reason, it seems that the pirate attacks in that area of space have significantly decreased, which seems odd, as it has always been a public secret that Tartarus has been taking a cut from their prizes. It means, that they must have an external source of income of some sort or potentially that Ork loot from beyond the Imperial space is valuable enough to reduce the interest in the Imperial prey. Overall, it seems that Daikan and Tesalia have formed a close alliance and are now in command of a small fleet. While the loyalty of different captains remains questionable, you think that they might put together good 20-30 ships, a few capital ones as well.

>>4096674
There is an entry which lists Dawn Scythes Chapter as "Mising in Action", listed so after an entry regarding their participation in a punitive expedition in Scarus Sector in 359.M41. It appears they have been operating quite recently.

I think we should pass this Tartarus intel to Tyrel Hagen only. We know that Tartarus gives bribes to imperial officials but Hagen was one of the few to support taking it out last time we floated the idea.

Let's see if Hagen's Imperial Navy can turn up any answers or whether they already have some. Naturally Hagen should only use captains loyal to him to check this stuff out.

Additional info to tell Hagen. The recent picts of the Triachy encounters from Alexander Kerr. Is there anything we didn't know before, or can theorise that we couldn't before, especially their relation to the ruinous powers.
Consult Engel on these images if we haven't already and regarding the fact that the triarchy fleet contained imperial vessels with traitor crews. Off to Hagen with all of this. Especially the fact that they use Imperial iconography.
Details of Kerr's encounter with the triarchy is here:

Surely the fact that Tartarus is not accepting Styrian-affiliated captains is a major source of concern for the Sector Government? Especially given the Styrian invasion of Kruun.

Finally, after years of being away, Elegion returns home to Tombstone. When he enters the room, Chaplain Axon on his right and another marine in Deathwatch armour with Imperial Fists shoulder heraldry, a rare smile appears on your face. So the wandering son is finally back. Behind them, another marine stands, this one in the armour, which bears the insignia of the Death Spectres.
>Chapter Master, praise Him. It is good to be back. This is Vectus, he has been my companion for years and also through the last part of the journey, which took me through the so-called Eldar webway. And this is Morentius, Leutenant of the Death Spectres, who asked for a permission to visit our homeworld and establish a relationship with our Chapter. Death Spectres are an ancient, venerable Chapter, who have a great expertise in fighting xenos. I hope you will extend this honour to them in return for their help in my journey.

Lyk's been working on banners lately and since the 8th just got blooded and the burning skulls on Hull's armour needed some explaining I begun with them. After many hours I finished this as a raw concept.
Sadly I quickly realized that tiny formats don't actually scale up very well (which is bad, because I'm bad and some of the assets I worked in and modified didn't exist in a larger format).

It didn't really fit the artstyle, so I used about 3,5 hours to tinker around with it until I arrived at this (here's a gallery with many snapshots of my progression, including one without the extra skull, which I find better in hindsight https://imgur.com/a/q9ZtNDD).
And that was pretty nice, but still felt a bit too unfitting, partially due to my own addition.

That, just like the rest of the 3,5 hours, was a bit of a waste of time when it comes to the end-product, but not when it comes to learning, because I figured out that I could probably just do the same with an upscaled version of my original concept.
So I took that concept, made it bigger and then went over the entire thing similarly to how I did it with the winged skull.
It took a while and was a bit tricky but I got a lot better by the end. I should probably stop drawing Hull things first because I always end up regretting not having the skills I had at the beginning. ^^

Otherwise, how has Nestorium been doing since the coup? How has their reputation been doing with Mars since our letter of commendation and so forth?

Furthermore we have a couple of patrol groups watching the Mortis border and tyranus/kruun, for a few years now. What news do they have to report?

Lieutenant Morentius of the Death Spectres bows to you:
> I would be pleased to discuss the matters of cooperation between out Chapters further, if it would please you. As we hail from a common Primarch, it is much that connects us.
How will you treat him:
a) Offer a private audience
b) Throw a feast in his honour [1W]
c) Tell him that you would prefer to discuss matters directly with his Chapter Master

You letter of commendation has helped Nestorium significantly. Their lawyer-scholars estimate, that their case has a strength of 70% to be won. Since the coup Nestorium has been very happy to cooperate with the new Sector governor and has made advances to secure a closer relationship with Imperial institutions.

>Patrol groups on Styrian border
Nothing out of the ordinary. Obviously, a lot of Styrian traffic, but they have followed your orders and tried not to provoke conflict, yet.

I think the Death Spectres aren't so big on the whole loud fanfare celebrations? So avoid the feast?

I think Elegion deserves some rest and relaxation, and we should ask him what position he wants.
He might be a good fit as 10th Company Lieutenant? As a scout sniper and excellent leader. Or perhaps he wants a spot in the Shadow Guard?

If you are to start summoning allies, you need to do the following first:
- Decide on preliminary start date (in a year, 5 years, 10, 20..? Much more than that)
- Decide whether preparations are public (more support, greater numbers, more money) or secretive (Triarchy will learn about it later).
- Decide whom do you invite
- Decide what you ask of them (troops, ships, money..?)
- Decide what do you offer in return (commanding positions in the crusade, planets when conquered, money, converts, triumphal glory, favours or just a thanks)
>>
>>4124100
Was talking mostly about our new friends we recently made and are still making.
>>
>>4124104
I think for the moment we should just be forming a list of potential allies and just sending them messages to see if they're at all interested in taking part in a hypothetical styrian crusade or if they have other obligations.

Personally I think we should do more scouting, infiltration and spying on Subsector Mortis for now so we can provide some real intel to those who want to take part. Enemy strength, resources etc.

For now, remember that we have to retake Kruun first and that will likely kick off greater hostilities in the void between stryria and imperium. And with their new foothold in Tartarus that could end badly.

We need Hagen, the inquisition, and the sector government on board with infiltrating, investigating and combating the styrian influence spreading on tartarus as well as preparing forces to retake Kruun.
And we need a girl that can see the future.

As you sit down at the table in your office, his face becomes more serious.
>If I may be so blunt, honoured Chapter Master, there was a lie we told Elegion when we found him. I come here today before you to reveal it. It wasn't by accident that we stumbled upon his beacon. Indeed, the Ghoul Stars are so wide and wild that it could have been a century or more before anyone would have tracked his signal down. We were following a... Guidance. We were informed where he will be and that we are to save and aid him. But something else was revealed to us as well. That we are to request one of your men, a powerful psyker, to join our Order and accept him as one of our own. A man named Trianon. Though it was also revealed, that he will not return to your Chapter, ever again. A life, for a life. Do not ask me how I know this, for I cannot tell.

>Mortals often lose their children to other families when they marry. Either because they start their own or join others.
>But even mortals do not send away their sons without knowing their future home. You ask me to lose a part of my family. I cannot do that.
>However, if this is a step towards us growing closer as Brothers, connected through our duty, blood and the bonds of our men, that is a different story.
>Right now such bonds do not exist yet, but I would like to build them with you. What can you propose to deepen the relationship of our chapters so I don't lose a son, but gain a new branch on our family tree?
>>
>>4124129
Agree with >>4124135 but unless Trianon has strong feelings on the matter:

"I am truly sorry Brother but I cannot allow our Chapter to lose its Chief Librarian. Not only is he our most potent warrior against the powers of the warp but our Librarium is intolerably small as it is and it has taken us decades to build ourselves up to where we are now."

It's taken forever just to build ourselves up to a moderate level of strength. Not to mention all the xp, time, and fate points we've dumped into Trianon. We'd lose our best (and only genuinely powerful) psychic powers user and probably set the progress of our librarium back another 30 in-game years and 5 irl years.

You could do this yourself, but a proper war-level preparation intelligence effort will be expensive and could take a long time. We are talking thousands of spy cells.

If you will call a crusade, it will be assumed that all involved factions take this as a priority and will devote part of their resources during the preparation to intelligence efforts.

So it's your choice:
a) Conduct the intelligence yourselves
b) Rely on close allies only
c) Rely on all available Imperial intelligence sources
>>
>>4124184
>b) Rely on close allies only
I think our primary allies in this endeavour should be the Imperial Navy, the AdMech, and the Order of Bloody Tears (I'm not sure if they have any contacts in infiltration, perhaps missionary sisters?).
And of course the Inquisition. But we don't know any Ordo Hereticus very well.

Speaking of the Inquisition, have Eisenhorn and Commodus Voke made any progress in their pursuit of Silencius?
>>
>>4124175
>I appreciate your directness, Morentius, but a compensation is not what I'm looking for. I wouldn't sell any of my brothers, let alone our only masterpsyker.
>Other chapters have traditions that forge bonds between their former Legion-brothers. The Dark Angels cooperate, seamlessly, the Blood Angel successors are bound by their respect for mighty Dante and the successors of the Imperial Fists have the feast of blades.
>The ravenguard, however, never deepened our familial bonds. You and I are but representatives of humble chapters in the imperial hinterland, so neither you nor I can change that. But we can make a start. What I want from you is not "compensation" for the loss of my son. I want the bonds of our chapters to grow to the point where it won't be a loss anymore.
>If we have to exchange brothers, let us make it more than just a deal that trades flesh for flesh. The Deathwatch consists of Marines of many different chapters and our ninth company is currently not active.
>If you have similar vacancies in your roster, I suggest we set up one company of both of our chapters as a mixed one, 50 men from either of us.

I have lived through quite a number of experiences, both of worldly and otherworldly manner and one of the most important one, i have learned is not to trust guidances, or whispers of the otherworld, as there is always more to them than it seems. Good. You send out requests for intelligence on Triarchy to be collected discreetly. Are you trying to find out anything in particular?

Also, if you do not start planning crusade, you will lose the rumour potential you already accumulated and it will reflect badly on your trustworthiness. Do you proceed or it is not yet right to commit to anything?

The Death Spectres watch the Ghoul Stars. It's in everyone's interest that wherever they are is strongly defended to the best of our abilities. We'd have to help anyway. It's like if Cadia was about to fall.
>>
>>4124252
Just Kruun or Tartarus doesn't seem like a crusade-worthy target, unless this would be a staging ground to then go on towards Styrian Triarchy or other places. But even your close allies, like Hagen, who would contribute to your cause, wouldn't call it a crusade.
>>
>>4124260
Not *just* Kruun/Tartarus. But it should be clear that these are the first steps to take in a Styrian Crusade. They're a part of the Styrian Triarchy after all. And yes once reclaimed they would be places where we gather more intel about the Triarchy to continue the next phase of the Crusade.

It's a crusade prologue. We don't need full strength marshalled for it but it proves that things are moving.

Well, that's the question - marshalling of strength for the crusade takes time, planning and effort. Then, once it is assembled, it is wasteful to keep it without utilising. So if you want to attack Kruun and only then start mobilising, it will take too long. If you will mobilise, take Kruun and then stall for some years before moving on, Crusade could start disintegrating. So it is your decision when to call it. For the attack on Kruun/Tartarus, do you call allies and declare it to be the start of the crusade? If so, please answer these questions:

Ah I understand. In that case Kruun will indeed be the first target in the Crusade.
>Decide on preliminary start date (in a year, 5 years, 10, 20..? Much more than that)
10 years from now.
>Decide whether preparations are public (more support, greater numbers, more money) or secretive (Triarchy will learn about it later).
Secretive for now. Amongst exclusive factions such as Astartes from distant areas that will need more time to marshall as well as trustworthy local guys like Hagen and Xerant who can quietly prepare forces. Then shortly before the Kruun invasion we make a more public announcement.
>Decide whom do you invite
In secretive preparation: Our Astartes contacts. Lord Admiral Hagen. Lord General Militant Xerant. Canoness Engel. FabGen Regon.
Once public announcement: All other local commanders, Lord Generals etc. Factions such as Rogue Traders with forces to commit. Neighbouring battlefleets if they have anything to spare. All and sundry.
>Decide what you ask of them (troops, ships, money..?)
From Naval forces, ships. From IG forces, troops. Nestorium? Ships and Skitarii. Meanwhile we can secure financial backing from merchant league as the reclamation of mortis would present some seriously big opportunities for them. Recolonisation, a fresh outflow of natural resources, etc.
>Decide what do you offer in return (commanding positions in the crusade, planets when conquered, money, converts, triumphal glory, favours or just a thanks)
That would depend on the level of their achievement. Lord Admiral Hagen and LGM Xerant would have a whole extra subsector to contribute to their Imperial Navy/Guard. Nestorium would have access to additional mineral reserves and possibly lost technology from pre-triarchy days.
Meanwhile independents that contribute would of course be able to retain the fruits of their conquest. Say some rogue trader obliterates an entire triarchy defence fleet and claims a world then they would of course be a strong consideration for its resultant imperial governor etc. But it's hard to promise these things before deeds have actually been done.
As for Astartes, there is of course limited things that can be offered. Liquid wealth loot would of course be shared amongst whoever wins it. And I imagine they would earn their own favour with the high lords. And of course there's always glory and great parades for victors.

I guess we can send Trianon to the Death Spectres ostensibly for a diplomatic visit. Then see if he feels he can do more good there than here. Don't tell him the death spectres asked for him. Just see how he feels about being there.

Having said that, it seems awfully convenient (for the Triarchy) that at the moment we're finally set to start facing them directly events miraculously conspire to try and rob us of our best psyker, considering the Styrians heavily utilise the powers of the warp.

How do we know this 'guidance' given to the Death Spectres wasn't a Styrian plot to get rid of one of the Sector's most powerful Imperial psykers?

Either that, or it's an amazingly coincidental catch-22 that fucks us over no matter what we do.

You soon hear back from Hagen:
>Dear Chapter Master (or should I address you now as Warmaster?), I, and Battlefleet Deus with me, are eager to answer your call. At this time we shall pledge:
- Retribution Class Battleship Alexios Komnenos under command of Amos Heffin, possibly the best Admiral in the Sector
- Dominator Class Cruiser Malleus, wingman of Alexios Komnenos
-Overlord-class Battlecruiser Forthright Intervention, under command of Vice Admiral Van Daur, whom you have already met
-Gothic Class Cruiser Vorpal
-5 Lunar Class Cruisers
-8 Dauntless Class Cruisers
-20 Escort Squadrons

>While this is close to a quarter of the total Battlefleet Deus strength, if the crusade is concluded within a decade or so, my analysts promise me, that the rest of our forces should be able to maintain the lanes free of pirates and other scum that will try to take advantage of weakened Imperial defences at home. Furthermore, the Crusade will require transportation. As such, I am pledging the following:

- Universe Class Mass Conveyor Unfathomable [750 000 cap.]
- 100 Heavy Transports [50 000 cap. each]
- 250 Standard Transports [20 000 cap. each]

Reply from Xerant is rapid, short, but apologetic:
>Chapter Master, I would indeed be very interested and I believe that it would be the right decision to organise this Crusade. However in order for me to pledge forces, I will have to consult with my strategists and Adeptus Munitorum. As such, I can only promise you that I would definitely be able to raise a base force from the Adamant Army's reserve from Adamant Prime, which is under my direct command and is not tied to any other assignments in the Sector. This base force would consist of around 300 regiments, in the range of 3,000,000 troops, with supporting artillery, tanks, close air support and such, however they are relatively green troops, well drilled, but without taste of combat. I could triple this number if you wish, but it would rings bells for the Styrians.

This allocation would imply that Battlegroup Tyranus would be temporarily compensated by other Battlegroups in a rotating fashion, with Unbreakable acting as active reserve. Other Subsectors have less threats, but also less defences than Tyranus, that's why the choice was made. Though indeed, it is a risk. And what's going on in the Grave... Regon replies with a lengthy, detailed analysis of your proposal, 47 pages in total, plus two annexes and an addendum with pictographs. However the core is the summary:
>...from this follows, that crusade is an important, but risky(78% est. success) endeavour. Nestorium shall carry out its duty as an ally, but commitment must be managed in light of other potential dangers. In line with our assessments, we suspect that currently your planned crusade composition is lacking in heavy and specialised assets, however we can propose a few different packages.

+Heavy support+
Legio Lux Mechanica shall be ordered to accompany the Crusade in full battle order.

+Ground support+
Nestorium could pledge five Skitarii Legions, totalling around 250,000 of these augmented warriors.

+Orbital support+
Imperial Navy's Regent Class Orbital Assault Ships due to their ancient nature are greatly dependent on our support. While we normally advise these ships to be used when reclaiming lost worlds, as they are nearly irreplaceable, we could make an exception and send three of these ships on the crusade.

+Mixed support.
We could hedge our risks by providing you with elements of our weakest Legio Nomern Emperosis, a single Skitarii Legion of around 50,000 warriors and a single Regent Class Orbital Assault Ship.

In my opinion the orbital assault ship is a vital asset. Otherwise aspera dominus and our strike cruisers are the only things that are highly suited for close low orbital deployment into hotzones.

And may I ask, what of House Macrae? They're closely allied to both admech and adamant prime.

And thus, later historians will note, Amelia Engel's name for the first time entered the wider Imperial Chronicles. Few suspected back then of the role she will play in the fate of the Imperium.

And thus, Brother Trianon departs. Some smile and pat him on the back as he is leaving, other faces are devoid of emotion in order not to show sadness, but everyone feels, that this mission is different from others. With a smile and a wave of his hand, Trianon disappears into the shuttle, which departs into the darkening sky high above Tombstone. Brethorius sighs:
>I am not sure I like this. May the Emperor keep an eye on him, he might have been a weirdo, but the best one of ours. I'll miss him.

we dont know what we face, so its best to have stuff for everything.

ALTHOUGH
the radiated warriors skitarri Vanguard can stay home
its not good to have them next to normal troops and 50.000 is not enough to warrant that level of extra care necessary

Nestorian pattern 'Vanguards' don't use rad-weapons. Local assault troop variant.

You receive an excited report from Gregor Eisenhorn:
>It seems we are finally on the right track. Silencius is returning to Sector Deus, we believe that he has acquired something he was seeking. We have reason to suspect, that he is going for the Tartarus station. If it is within your power, I implore you to intercept him. While we suspect that he will evade and jump worlds back and forth, it will not take him more than a few years, or maybe much quicker, to get there. Kind regards, Eisenhorn

Well we're going to be arranging an internal takeover I think...but still god damn it.

Ah okay. Well they should definitely be one of the factions we reach out to in the second line of reinforcement requests.

Attached is my preliminary strategic planning for the ground campaign, I'm not great at space shit so I'll leave that to someone else.

Brother Rafael’s plan he’s paying £9000 a year for

Resources so far
Ghosts of Retribution
300 regiments Adamant Army, in the range of 3,000,000 troops
10,000 sisters militant
20,000 sisters hospitaller
200 Penitent Engines
million eager pilgrims and missionaries
Mixed support - Legio Nomern Emperosis, a single Skitarii Legion of around 50,000 warriors

Plan for subjugating the triarchy

Use of Adamant army as regs/ main wave when conquering planets
- Reinforce with one company of space marines to act as advisors/trainers due to being relatively green
Ghosts of Retribution
- Use as shock troops - deployed at important places to reinforce Adamant + prevent defeats
- Use as Commandos - Deployed to take over/destroy/deal with important targets e.g. planetary government, airfields, power generators etc.
Waifus of Battle
- Use for religious objectives e.g. Destroy heretic temples, seize key figures for execution, suppress heretical beliefs
- Use as mop up force after Adamants and GoR (1 mill pilgrims and SoB)
- Sister Hospitalliers in safe areas planetside (small detachment permanently with GoR?)
- Penitent engines as shock forces
Mechanius forces
- Use as strategic reserve - titans sent to failing fronts with Skitarii to stop enemy offensives
- Use as shocktroops in particularly hard to take places (too hard for GoR)

Why I want arbiter
- Use as mop up force & to install peace after imperium take over to free up SoB for religious suppression

Feel free to throw any questions and thoughts my way

Do we offer Engel a couple of guys as an honour guard? Knowing her they'll probably see a lot of action.
>>
>>4136871

Sure, let's offer a certain iron warrior squad as a tactical liason.
>>
>>4136885
>>4136871
Ehhhhhhh no that puts them in a position to potentially be genetically tested and their origins learned.
Void squad never strays too far.

If any of them get wounded or end up treated by hospitallers? Their genetics could be tested.
Also the fact that they're not pale and black-haired might raise suspicions?
>>
>>4136889
>>4136894
>>4136900
Geneseed testing isn't that simple. You need the actual seed, highly advanced facilities and genetic material to compare it to. It's why so many chapters don't know their heritage and why the souldrinkers were only told "we don't know where your geneseed is from, but it's probably not dorn" when the Imperial fists checked them
>>4136900
>Also the fact that they're not pale and black-haired might raise suspicions?
That's not that rare, our axy assault marine is a redhead.
>>
Question: How long has it been since that crazy RT meeting in-game?

And can we really call 3 million odd forces a crusade? That seems like barely a vanguard for a planetary invasion.

Unless we're planning a Children's Crusade, won't we need to pull at least logistical support from out-of-sector?
>>
>>4138956
Which Rogue Trader? Dercius D'anger, Alexander Kerr, or Anastasia Barbaross? All could be described as crazy.

And yeah 3 million troops isn't enough. Xerant said he can triple this but it'll alert styrian spies so we can do that closer to the crusade date. Hopefully when we ask a wider net of people including the other Deus Fortress Worlds we'll get more ground troops.
It should be more reassuring for them now we have excellent fleet support too. And the position of high strategist is open.
>>
>>4138956
>And can we really call 3 million odd forces a crusade?
Depends on the forces. Black Templars are on a crusade all the time and probably have less power in most of them than we do right now. We have an entire chapter of Space Marines and a ton of Sororitas, which are basically a step in-between SM and IG. We even have some support from the Mechanicus and a powerful fleet.
Quality over quantity.
