Maria Louise Regnia, Daughter of the Dragon, Kingslayer, and Servant to the Lord. Currently she is in the Miaphate, doing a pilgrimage towards Ca’Ren, the city where the Lord made his agreement with humanity. In her time there, she began the workings to organize the Miaphate for a controlled Civil War between religious sects. What will she make of this though, and what of the potential lover the Miaph Solomon!

The sun lowered itself across the lands in a dark red hue, disguising the various splatters of blood that were scattered about the courtyard. In the middle of it were three men, all with faces portraying the screams they wailed when they were once aflame. However now cooked tendons were holding them in place as their bodies were impaled upon pikes.

“You took all that in rather well, Elizabeth.” Solomon smirked as he stood at Maria’s side, “People might start calling you a monster if we continue doing this.”

“Would they now? Maybe I should keep doing it, that way no person would ever think about assassinating me again.”

“Indeed you would be correct,” Solomon answered back with an approving nod, “Men’s fear can be unreal at many times, believing that we will hear every conversation they have. I think the thought is ludacris myself.”

“I would agree with you, however that only relates to how far our technology comes.” Maria thought to herself for a moment, “Have you ever any thoughts about a world where the buildings scrape the sky and traveling across the seas takes less than a day?”

“I am just saying its possible, don’t mind me though.” Maria answered with a shaking of her head, “Is there anything rumbling yet?”

“Indeed, the Children of Sahar have gotten agitated recently. I think they’ve heard about my query about their missing child.” Solomon turned his gaze towards the burnt remains, “Though it seems they’ve grown quite due to recent events.”

“I cannot say if thats good or bad.” Maria admitted before shaking her head.

“We will not know until we tease the information.” Solomon admitted while turned back to Maria, “And what of your findings? Anything of value yet?”

“Indeed, it seems those servants who were brought here by Loster were given the same deal as Matarid. And it seems they are just as easy to coerce. Though I have hinted to them being paid that little bit more.”

“So that means at least here at home we are secure.” Solomon gave a steady nod, “Than that leaves us with securing a larger military force.”

“Indeed that would be vital, how are the forces gathered now?”

“Most are aligned with their Cults, either city bound or to a sect. I have been able to squeeze more troops out of them, but inlight of a rebellion I will only have my personal domains.”

“So either we guarantee they are on our side, or we make it so they lose all their power.” Maria answered back before giving a glance towards Solomon, “Why do you think there would be a rebellion against yourself?”

“Thats… not something to be discussed here.” Solomon danced around the issue by ensnaring Maria’s hand, “We should move now, lest our servants grow irritated.”

We should try to solidify her Faith in our god. It will cause a greater stir in Sarhars cult once she's revealed. Which can help in stripping the cults of their authority.

As a note about the maid makeup. There are clearly a ton of lazy and unmotivated maids. I can only guess that they're shirking off responsibilities, doing tasks like conspiracy or spywork for the misc factions instead of their job.
Not our problem right now, but they're clearly mismanaged. It makes me regret not tutoring Melody after we found out she was a Baron's daughter as a method of study for ourselves a little.

“Indeed that is true, let us travel.”

With that answer given the two traveled down the halls, side by side. It was rather quite, now that folk were not chatting that much. A few glanced their way, but it seemed either Maira’s continual presence or her shaping of the maids has had its intended effect.

The two opened the doors to Maria’s room, and were soon greeted by a smile and a bowing of the head by Dahia. In the few days Maria has known the girl, she had quickly regained a vast majority of her muscles and fat. Maria could only attribute that to the divine blood that ran through her veins.

“Ah, Elizabeth, welcome back.” She said while giving Maria a calm bow.

“Welcome back Mistress.” Melody answered as well with a smile, “Matarid has gone out to get us some water, she will be back soon though.”

“Thank you, Melody. If you would close the doors.” Maria said with a wave of the hand.

As her maid carried out the task Maria sat herself next to her Ward, Solomon sitting next to Maria in turn. Since it was little drab not saying anything Maria decided to start, “So, have you been fairing well these days?”

“Indeed I am, Elizabeth.” The girl smiled while trying, but failing, to make eye contact, “I… thank you for taking care of… him.”

“You are very welcome, it is the least I can do for someone who died in such a horrendous way. Child or not.”

“Still, I thank you.” She answered while resting her hands upon the books that Maria had lent to her.

“Ugh, things are going to get troublesome.” Solomon shook his head after seeing the girl’s subconscious actions, “Dahia, do you wish to see your family? Those who share your blood?”

“I…” The girl was about to say something before giving a shiver and quickly clutching the book into her hands, “A-are they like them.”

“I cannot say, as the internal affairs of families is something I cannot do.” Solomon admitted with a sigh, “Though I know their family likes to intermarry, so what happened to you will likely happen with them.”

The girl did not seem to look any better, now using the book about the Lord as some kind of shield against the truth that was Solomon. So simply put, there was going to be a difficulty in how they are going to reveal her.

Ok. I'm gonna need some clarification on what might be details I missed and since I actually have to wake in the morning i mostly have to hope this helps everyone after.

Was the plague demon associated with the sect she came from? That can indicate she can't be safely returned to them and a traitor within the sect. That should cause some infighting? There a specific god of plagues? Also rouses suspicion that the first targets are her and the child. Did they conspired to kidnap a sahar child?

How old is she? I guess since we aren't saying woman she might not even be an adult by the standards of this area.

Does her having a home she was staying in make her a head of household and technically exempt her from them bringing her back under their guardianship? This one might be a good one to look into and gets us a look at the library before some random mongols burn it down like the Library of Alexandria.
These two sects might actually be useful as maids in the long term since maids are often there to pad their resume before marriage by proving they're good at housework under european systems at least. If they're forced to intermarry and the like, the maids might have a bigger interest in staying on as servants in the long term.
>>
>>4546633
Since I should be asleep before i get responses and I feel I gotta vote I'll go with this.
>You know, she was being infested by the plague when I found her. Would it not be appropriate for them to assume any written statements by her was her dying testimony? Why if it was the first house to be hit by that demon one could even call it an assassination to cover up crimes. Since she's healing so fast, she might have even vanished on her own long before the fighting is over and they stop to realize she lived.

You know the plague demon was from another god, though its odd that the creature was there in the first place. Her age is around 14, which makes her younger than Maria, and lastly no she will not instantly become the house head.
>>
>>4546921
Thanks for refreshing. What are the rights of the cult as parents? What legal claim can they make once we show she's here?

And what's her current opinion on our god? Besides gratitude for saving her and the afterlife we've helped send the kid to.

“Well, that does not really matter now.” Maria answered back with a firm grip upon herself, “They must know she is alive if everything is to go to plan. However, she is under your protection.”

“Indeed.” Solomon answered with a sigh, “Dahia, you said your captures all had blue hair right?”

“Y-yes.” She answered meekly.

“Then it must be Baltic’s Cult who kidnapped her.” He summarized, “While dessert blond is at least uncommon, only the Children of Baltic have that hair color.”

With another thought Maria faced the girl again, “I ask you, are you willing to go through with this Dahia? You are the one person who must announce to the court the sins of your captors.”

“I-I am willing.” She answered with a resolve that Maria can admire, “They hurt me and even led to his death. And well, its the least I can do for you.”

“Then the plan is set,” Solomon announced with a devilish grin about himself, “The Sarhars are likely already foaming at the mouth to get at the Baltics, and I am sure this will be the straw to break the camel’s back.”

“Indeed, if we are lucky both sides wipe eachother out.”

“Then you should pray to your god for that outcome.” Solomon called out with a laugh before shaking his head, “The only issue would be how we deliver the news. If we do it here, I should be able to handle the collateral they will cause. However, if we were to do it on the road we might be able to religate all damage to the deserts.”

“But if we do that, entire cities might be consumed.” Maria answered back

“Indeed, though it means I will have more freetime as it will be other people dealing with the problem. Either way, it will draw in the other cults.” Solomon thought to himself for a moment, “All in all, I expect two years of good fighting since both sides are relatively at full strength.”

“And once they are all weakened, you come in and remove their authority for making such a big mess of things.”

“Indeed.” Solomon answered with a smirk, “So what do you think?”

>Announce a trial. That way both sides will prepare to attack eachother, meanwhile solomon can prepare his armies and arrange to have the leaders of both cults in the same building. Sarhars cult will spread word of the verdict aloud throughout the Miaphate while the Baltics have nowhere to run.

It will be a great way to introduce the legal system of courts to the world hahahaha
>>
As an added bonus the fighting of the two cults could result in enough chaos it de-legitimizes them both in the eyes of the public, or one of them if the girl converting doesnt hurt perception of Sarhars cult. Giving the Miaph greater control once he crushes the two factions.

“Keeping it off in the Countryside will be the best, so we should probably announce it as far from the Capital.” Maria answered with a nod, “The lines will be drawn that far away, but will surely bring about the destruction of the cults.”

“I will look forward to those days then.” Solomon answered with a devilish smirk, “Well we should probably head our way out of here don’t we?”

“Do we?” Maria asked with a raised brow.

“Indeed!” Solomon answered while grabbing Maria’s and quiding her out of the room.

It was a little sudden, Maria would say, but she could only guess there was a reason to it. They crossed through the halls, arriving outside in a simple garden where barely a soul could see them.

“So, what’s with the rush?” Maria had to ask.

“I wanted us to get a few things settled here.” Solomon answered with a smile, “Tomorrow is the last day before we embark for the journey towards Ca’Ren.”

“Is it, my Lord I have lost track of time.” Maria quickly admitted with a huff, “Kinda sad, since I have already put so much work into your little palace.”

“Indeed, you have done everything a royal consort would have done and maybe even more.” Solomon answered with a smile as the moonlight shined, “Depending on what happens, well, it might be yours.”

“What are you getting at?”

“You never did tell me what you thought of my realm, of my people.” Solomon answered back, “Instead you brought home a girl who was likely kidnapped and raped. So I get the idea you have seen the darkest parts of the realm.”

“Indeed, things were quite bleak.” Maria answered back with a firmness in her voice, “If I would say, the people’s fear of the Gods is almost mind boggling.”

“Then, do you think they are malleable?” Solomon seemed to take a moment to pick his words carefully, “Would they be willing to take a risk for a better life?”

>Too much fear can give people drive, the people might be very much willing to serve the Lord instead

>“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.”
Gonna quote some Frederick Douglass here since it seemed relevant.

>The gods use fear, but that is the worst way to control mankind. Our most primal instinct is not to stay away from the roaring flames or flee the tiger, but to hunt terror down and slaughter it where it lays. There will be a time where the moon is naught but a hunk of rock to be mined and the stars are a list of things to be catalogued. The mysteries of how the sun burns will be laid bare to even an inquisitive child. A peasant in their yard can rewrite the very scriptures of life. The palm of my hand can hold your greatest of libraries. Songs can reach a million hearts. From an ocean away a man can burn a city to the ground and mankind's greatest enemy will be itself. Will the gods then look at the vengeance that may be wroughts against them and tremble?
I think it's too verbose and not eloquent enough to win a vote, but I had some fun going nudge nudge wink wink at modern technology.

Should we sneak in a suggestion to ban slavery since anyone capable of the cruelty of thinking their fellow humans as property is no better than the gods they fear?

“They are scared.” Maria called out as she looked into the sky, “The threat of the Gods is something that as of right now I cannot see easily to be shaken off.”

“You say as of right now, so there is still a chance in the future?”

“My first thought of course is to subvert the Cults, that if we brought in another that truly cared than in time we would rid them of their influence.”

“But what you are saying will take decades, entire generations.” Solomon answered back, “Is there really anything we can do to push back the Parasites who constantly antagonize us? I cannot believe that my people do not have any ambition in their lives for a better future.”

“Well, ruling man by way of fear is a horrendous idea.” Maria answered, “Mankind does not like standing back in the shadows and suffering. No, we take a more proactive approach.”

“Then what do you have in mind, something like that way we watch men?”

“I wish that were the case.” Maria answered before her brow raised, “Why would you remember such a silly drabble.”

“Because you have insight into things that I have never even heard of.” Solomon answered as he glanced out into the chest high bushes, “Would I not be a fool if I ignored your wisdom? You claim there to be a time where men can travel from place to place, see each other from afar, and I am sure many more.”

“Fufu, indeed you are correct.” Maria answered back with a twirl, “Though things are greater than that. Imagine an era that a child can learn about the workings of the sun with a touch of her fingers. Where with a simple touch of your finger, you can witness the greatest libraries in the entire world! Where we are no longer earthbound, but soon destined to reached the moon itself and reap a bountiful harvest of iron and copper. Can you?”

“I find it hard to, what you have said is nothing less than a utopia for mankind.” The Miaph answered while approaching Maria, “Do we need the Gods to achieve such an era?”

“Oh ho ho!” Maria could not help but laugh at the idea, “No this is what humanity is capable of. In the end only the Gods who cared for humanity are remembered, and the rest perished in the annals of history.”

“Interesting, very interesting.” The Dictator answered with a nod with a smile, “So what simply needs to happen is that we overcome our captors, so that we may break into a new age.”

“Indeed that is what I see.” Maria answered with a sigh, “If ever there was the chance to kill a God, then that would make our change immediate. Though I am ignorant of even a chance to achieve this.”

“I am sure you will find a way.” Solomon answered with a grin, “Your God has once before rid a region of their overlords, so why not this one?”

“Indeed,” Maria found herself saying with slightly widening eyes, “I guess that is what I am here for is it not?”

“Indeed that is true, as even in your own lands there is trouble brewing.” Solomon admitted while look up into the sky, “Odd though, even though we are under different skies our troubles can be so similar.”

“You know, I always heard it differently.” Maria answered with a demeaning smile, “That everything happens under the same starry sky.”

“Are you from another world or something?”

“Maybe~” Maria teased with a slight pinch at his cheeks, “So what do the figures in your sky even mean? I know a good amount of mine were some sort of Saint, Herald, or Hero of mankind.”

“If I am to began on that, we should probably take a seat,” Solomon quickly dropped to the ground and patted the space next to him.

Without nothing much else to do and just a little tinge of desire, Maria accepted the man’s invitation and sat next to him. Solomon gave a smile that made Maria think he was just the little bit excited. Taking the moment further in, he laid his hand above hers still carrying that same charming smile.

“So, first we will talk about those who are related to me.” He announced while pointing towards a sword, “That would be the Blade of ‘Awal, first of Alkain’s children and the one who united the cities. From his blood, we shall unite the Miaphate into a single realm under the Gods.”

“Hmm? So are the Gods bound to the realm or no?”

“I was told their cults always sprawled across the Deserts, however those native my realm have since integrated themselves under his vision. Do the Gods really care for this, I cannot say.” Solomon admitted with a sigh, “I do though, even if my forefathers would not agree with me on my methods.”

“Indeed, they brought men to the sword. You, you use mainly words don’t you?” Maria answered back.

“Indeed that is true,” Solomon answered with a grin, “Is this one of the adjustments we should expect going into the future?”

“Nothing really changes, just where it will be fought,” Maria answered with a solemness in her words, “You have already adjusted to what will be the new age, which will be alliances and intrigue. That will be the next front, followed by politics once the commoners gain more of a voice.”

“Then I will need to prepare.” Solomon answered back, “Once we move power to those trusted, our realm will be reborn anew. A new age with a new empire born from the ashes.”

“Then we will see what the future brings,” Maria called out with a sigh.

“I hope to have you by my side.” Solomon turned to Maria as the moon rose to its highest. However before Maria could say a thing the man placed his finger upon her lips, “Do not say anything here, this is not the place to speak such things.”

“When will I be able to speak my mind on the matter?” Maria answered back with her eyes narrowing.

“When the chances of us being listened on is none existent.”

“So you fear them?”

“Indeed, who would not.” He answered back with a raising of the finger, “I want to do something about it is the difference.”

“Solomon, you ever thought that doing all this would be flying too close to the sun?”

“If you are alluding to the dangers of it all,” Solomon simply shook his head, “Why would I not?”

Maria pondered for a moment, soon realizing just who she was talking to. Solomon, in all respects, is a man who only knows ambition. What do you do with a man whose life would be nothing without it.

“Well, it seems our time it up.” Solomon announced while looking up into the sky, “Tomorrow we will prepare for our journey. I must leave you be, as Tumuh still might have things that I need to finish with.”

“Hmph, I guess that is understandable.” Maria answered while moving her face away from him. However, she did not expect him to take her hand up and give it a solemn kiss.

“Do have a nice day in my city, as soon we will travel my realm together.” The man announced, his own face growing just the little bit more red.

It was the day after that Maria took to the streets of Solomon’s city, Ealaa Al’ard. From ther it has been a week since she has taken steps in the market place, the variety of goods easily coming into her nose. Though she could not help but notice some irregularities.

For one, the amount of armed men roaming the place had increased. Second, the amount of incense that was being sold seemed to have skyrocketed from just a glancing look at the prices. And lastly, most importantly, Maria noticed that most obvious cultist were walking about the market with a light foot.

“I-Is something the matter, Malika?” Maria’s newest servant Matarid asked from behind her.

“Just some curious things, that is all.” Maria answered with a smile before shaking her head, “Would you by chance know where merchants of Austin would congregate?”

“Y-yes I do, if I may show you.”

With that Maria followed the maid, who led her through the place with a stride. However some would call the stride an awkward walk between confidence and meekness. None of this really bothered Maria, as soon she arrived in a bar that was near the docks.

“Another drink over here!” Maria heard in the language of the Empire, leading her to see a pair of white men sitting at the table looking cheerful.

With a smile on her face Maria approached the table, “Make that two drink!” She announced while taking a seat at the table.

“Whoa,” One of the men said while looking Maria up and down for a moment, “Hello there, miss, come to see a familiar face among the hordes of Miaphites?”

“Hmm, I guess my accent is that easy to tell isn’t it.” Maria admitted with a showing smile, “You can say that, Elizabeth Wyvern.”

“John Doe, and this here is my partner Paul Smith.” The man laughed for a moment, “You not going to put your hood down?”

“Oh my, asking a woman to remove her clothes~”

“I-I understand.” The man quickly said with a flushed face.

“So,” Maria began as the drinks were placed infront of her, “What has been happening in the Empire? It has been a while since I was there and was just wondering.”

“Well, a lot of things have been happening.” One of the men began with a smile, “Now I only heard of this from a few days ago, so I don’t know all the details, but rumor has it a Saint was discovered during the Imperial Tournament.”

“A… Saint?” Maria could not help but ask.

“Yup, sounded like something that came right out of a fairy tail.” He announced with a shrug, “It was during the final bout, between some hulking giant and the First Prince. Guess he was getting the shit beat out of him, until suddenly she ran out onto the field.”

“She… ran out into an active dual?”

“Yup, some miracle the giant didn’t cut her head off.” The other man laughed while shaking his head, “But hear this, the girl healed the Prince without any relics! She just placed her hands upon his chest and in a flash of light the man was back up!”

Maria internally clicked her tongue at the words, it seemed whatever the God-Slayer from earlier said was true. However she knew things was going to get worse, as the other man opened his mouth.

“If that wasn’t it, the girl turned towards the Giant and the fellow just fell over. Most are saying it was some weird ass spirit, which can I really blame em?” The man gave a small chuckle and shook his head, “Of all this is true, I’d say we got ourselves a new Saint in the workings, just like the Kingslayer!”

[Conservation Success]

Upon hearing those words Maria needed to leave, her anger already building to its greatest height. To think something like this would play into Chloe’s hand, Maria could not believe it. That Fairy who she fought… it was likely just as surprised as Maria would be if it got purified in divine light.

No, the budala just got lucky.

>I have spoken to the immortal saint beneath the Veneician city and the warnings he spoke of are grave. This combined with my own observations and those of others, Chloe Loveheart is a demigod of dubious origin unknowingly at the centre of pagan and demonic conspiracies to weaken the Lord so that they may strike and once again gain dominion over the lands blessed by him. News of her latest acts has already reached me in these pagan lands at an unnatural speed and the saint described her as a pillar of light shining in the north visible even from his distance. I beseech your and the inquisitions continued vigilance against enemies of the lord during these arduous times. Condemning the girl herself will only make her a martyr in the eyes of the people who do not know these truths, so I personally advise against direct action towards her. Instead, target the conspirators and release knowledge of Ford's near heretical conduct and speech to the public before the fool's status as a patsy becomes detrimental to the interest of the Lord and his nation.

I think we might have to drop the Ford bomb before she gains steam. We held onto it too long already, but at the very least Ford getting in trouble right now will shove them off tempo as some filthy near heretic can't possibly be allowed near the saint of the people to corrupt her innocence.

With her bit of rage Maria walked about the place as quick as she could, buying from the streets a variety of ink and papers. Indeed her servant was confused if only for a moment until Maria found herself a good table to began her writings.

To the speaker of the Lord,

I have just received news today that the girl, Chloe Loveheart, is rumored to be a Saint in some capacity. I am to demand of you that her words are not to be listened to!

From my personal observations and those of others who share the same ‘sense’, she is some sort of witting pawn in another god’s game. Whenever I stand near her I am sickened, and I have received word that if the god so desires they can change the aesthetics of their miracles to mimic that of the Lord’s. To add to that, a reliable source claims that she exhibits the aura carried by demi-gods.

While I do bring all this to light, I ask that you do not take direct action against her. Instead target her conspiracies and try to maim their ability to act in the coming few days until I make my return back to the Empire. I personally will take care of Chloe, how that will be done is why I am here.

Currently I am in pegan lands, taking a pilgrimage to the lost city. There I will find the answers to the problem.

May the Lord be with you
-King Slayer

Confidence filled Maria as she ran about the place and found someone who can reliably send the letter. It was a little bothersome having to seal the letter inside of a letter to make sure it followed a track to the right people, one of them of course being Albert. However at this moment Maria did not care who she used, this letter was going to the god damn pope!

She quickly finished her day, grabbing the armor before making her way back to the Palace that belonged to Solomon. She was like a tornado going through the place, soon coming across the rather confused Solomon, “Did something happen as you were out?”

“Indeed, something that I feared had happened.” Maria answered with a click of her tongue, “Ready your men’s horses and our cart, we began our travels tonight!”

“Something has gotten you active, does it have to relate to that odd girl?”

“Sometimes you are too smart for your own good, Solomon. Indeed I will tell you everything once we get on the roads.”

“Good good, I will be looking forward to it.” He answered with a slight cheerfulness in his voice, “What you desire shall be done, be prepared in an hour.”

This is a bit tricky. Everything will be stirred up, but military might will invite misc factions trying to drag us into the upcoming civil war since we'll get assumed to be a war band.

>Go with a few trusted guards (presumably morse since those are Solomon's most trusted) and the rest of our entourage.

I'm reasonably confident we can take out a few morsemen on our own if their gods suddenly want in on the conspiracy and we won't alienate Solomon's main military force from him via not bringing any of them to a fight.

The rest of his forces should have more than enough fights coming to them in the civil war or protecting various interests/people.

If we ever run into some random Isekai fool we are so abusing his/her chunni knowledge to subjugate a demon via methods in the Ars goetia.

Thanks to the sudden desicion, the group had departed from the Palace of Alkain when it was just turning night. Maria look up into the sky to see a plentiful display of stars dancing about above her, reminding her of the little lesson in history that she received from Solomon. However that lul was not to last, as she returned to the earth to finish the conversation she was having.

“So that girl has finally made her move.” Solomon summarized with a solemn nod to himself, “It is quite worrisome that men cannot tell an imposter from a real one, but that is the aim here is it not?”

“I-I-I hate that girl!” Melody called out in an minor rage, “To do something so scummy when my Mistress is obviously her better! Surely she was set up”

“No she was not, though I am sure whoever looks upon her took the opportunity.” Maria answered to calm the Maid’s rage.

“Hmm, it seems I have, uh, come out in a troubling time.” Dahia answered with a meekness in her voice.

“Sounds like more war for us!” One of the 15 Morse guards called out from behind.

The one who did not speak, Matarid, was likely in fear of what her opinion would bring about to her health.

Such was the manner of things and people’s opinions. Since they have left the great more fertile lands of the Miaphate, their travel was now on camelback. Such beasts were of course not very fast, but Maria heard that at least the camel in this world was just as tough as the originals.

“It does not matter what happens in the Empire now,” Maria answered with an authority in her voice, “We travel now to the lost city of Ca’Ren, there we might find some answers.”

“Those will be interesting answers I am sure.” Solomon answered with a cheering smile, “I will say someone is looking out for us, we have yet to see any of Sarhar’s beasts.”

“Is by chance our little ward protecting us from them?” Maria said while pointing towards Dahia.

“No, they have a knack for controlling them not warding them off. We should keep our eyes opened though, as even the natural creatures are to be feared.”

So they continued, a few hours on the sandstone cliffs and paths. Over the armor that Maria received earlier was a massive cloak, which did wonders against the dreadful cold that was trying to creep onto her flesh. Add in the sudden bits of sand and Maria realized why exactly the people of the Miaphate wore such odd clothing.

Indeed a pilgramage would be a long journey, something Maria would learn to bear.

“So, Solomon” Maria began as the sun was starting to rise from below the Horizon, “What kind of creatures have the two waring gods created anyways?”

“Nothing short of destructive monstrosities.” Solomon answered with a shaking of the head, “If you ask me, the first thing that always comes to mind is the Viserators.”

“The large, lizards right?”

“Indeed, they are quite possibly the most destructive. I have heard a few made it to your lands before, gaining the name-”

“Dragons…”

“Indeed.” Solomon answered with a laugh, “However those are mainly the ones who are able to fly about and escape the deserts. For the most part most of Sarhar’s creations remain on the ground, keeping those Lizard like traits.”

“What is even the difference between them and normal animals?” Maria asked with a reasonable doubt, “They live and eat things don’t they? How can you be sure they are not just creations of the Gods?”

“Ah, I guess that would be the first question someone would ask.” Solomon admitted, “There are two things that you must know about things created by the Gods. Unlike man, these creatures are immortal until killed by some wayward hero or army of men willing to face it. The second, is that they can never breed true.”

“Breed true? Are you saying that they cannot even make more offspring after the initial batch who were created?”

“Indeed, though there is one exception to the rule.” Solomon answered back with a raising of the finger, “A Royal, one who hosts the blood of the very god who created them, can have children. With that, they are the only ones who can host offspring. It is however known that they are the only ones, and their children will not have any more.”

“So you are suggesting that if we kill the Royal, then that entire line of monster can be slaughtered to a creature with little retaliation from the God?”

“Quick to summerise, but yes you are correct.” Solomon admitted with a daring smile, “Getting ideas I take it?”

“I am not that suicidal.” Maria called out without a moment’s thought, “Though… it would make for a great legend.”

“I guess it would.” Solomon admitted before looking up into the sky, “We are just a little ways off from town. Things should be a little bit interesting there.”

They had finally arrived when the sun arose from behind the horizon and was halfway into the sky. What Maria witnessed was nothing much, but the modestly short but thick walls were something she had no arguments with. Already she could smell the spices and incense was enough to make Maria realize this was a town right on the frontiers of a hostile desert.

It did not take long, as Solomon easily convinced the guards to let their little posse into the place. Being the Miaph seems to have come with its benefits, especially when the man he was talking cowarded under his gaze.

“I’m going to go about and talk to the locals.” Maria said to Solomon as she got off her camel.

“Understood, do you wish for a guard with you?”

Maria was about to agree, but something completed a different response, “No, I think I will be fine. If you would excuse me.”

With that Maria left, taking to the streets without much of a care. The activity was much less than the Capital of the Miaphate, but that much was to be expected from an outside city. It actually gave a minor charm that Maria liked, though it followed that she felt the same way about any settlement that belonged to man.

As if it was by instinct Maria was drawn to a market, the place with a few stalls lining the area. From her sight there was a great many things, ranging from modestly exotic fruits to even the incense that was being offered. Upon closer inspection, Maria noticed that they might be the things she missed the chance to get from the Market the previous day.

“Hehe, have you heard? There was some action down south.” A passersby said as they passed by Maria.

“What kinda action? Last time you said that I almost got chewed up by a Borrcers.” His partner announced with a huff.

However lastly Maria turned to the sounds of a wagon slowly drawn. To her surprise, it was an man wearing a thick apron with a beast of burden in front of him. Both looked ancient, grey whiskers about the mule’s mouth while the man’s beard covered his neck and burnt to the tips.

The two were struggling to move what Maria assumed was some kind of ore that she was too ignorant to tell. While the two’s combined effort seemed useless against it, Maria had the feeling if she helped that it would become trivial.

Spices get more watered down the closer they are to the end point. It's one of the most basic factoids I remember learning about the spice trade from school, so I think it's reasonable that we do too. When we get spices, we want them as close to the original source as we can.
Eg. The trick is to pour some water into the barrel of spices as you sell it. The spices absorb the water and expand as you travel so that you're constantly selling spice from "full" barrels.

There was of course the temptation for Maria to go take advantage of the markets, but at last she knew what was more proper.

So Maria walked to the man, putting herself behind the two wheeled cart and giving it a nice push.

“Oh my!” The man said as the cart was finally moving forward at a nice pace, “Th-thank you ma’am! Coming to help an old man like me.”

“It is nothing, just a little out of my way.” Maria answered with a smile, “Where to?”

“Just on the outskirts of town is all.” He answered with a solemn smile, “I shall lead the way.”

With a rythmic tapping of his cane on the sandstone, the two of them coming upon a small stone hut. Maria could not help but admit the adobe was actually a good bit smaller than all the houses near it, and Maria could not help but also notice the lack of a reasonable chimney.

“Right here.” The man said as they went went to the side to reveal an calm open fire. She could not help but notice the lack of air pumps about it, which gave Maria the impression this man was not smithing iron. Her hint was right, as the man unloaded green blocks of ore onto a table.

“Hehe, copper gets pretty heavy if you are not careful.” He joked before settling before opening a rather large vat and placing the stones he aquired into it, “There we go, thank you very much miss.”

“You’re welcome.” Maria gave a short bow before looking the man over, “Who are you, sir?”

“Me? Hidad ‘Iilhi” He championed while making a mocking motion with his muscles, “Hehe, what about you?”

“I am…” Maria was about to give the man a false name however she thought differnt for a moment, “Maria Louise Regnia.”

“A mouthful of a name. Purple hair and eyes, you are a noble from a distant land arn’t you?”

Maria instinctively moved her hand to make sure her disguise was disheveled from the work. However, not a strand of hair was showing about her neck.

“You know, those you fear already suspect you are here.”

“Who knows?”

“I… forget the name he uses now.” The man answered while rubbing his head for a moment, “Does not matter, you have helped me so I shall help you! Do you have any armaments that need repair?”

“I… do.” Maria answered, taking out the rusted blade she received from the Saint of Altmer. She was half tempted to keep the weapon away from him, but in the end she laid it out for the man.

“Well well, you have brought to me quite the item.” The man laughed while picking it up, “This might be as old as I am!”

“Is it, repairable?” Maria dared to ask the smith.

“Indeed, that is what the copper is for.” The man answered before looking Maria over, “Though your muscles and stature, let along you are carrying a spear on your back. You are not a swordswoman are you?”

“I will admit, I have used my Partisan Blade more often.”

“Then, I can simply modify that weapon instead. The metal it is made of is quite intriguing I would say.”

“Alright, do what you need then.” Maria answered while taking out her blade.

The old man happily took the blade, setting it into the open fire. To Maria’s surprise the spear’s blade instantly became red hot, as if the coal bed was of industrial quality. With another swirft movement, the man took the old God-Slaying blade and threw it into the smelter to his right.

It did not take long, the ancient man removing the now malleable brass and beating it into the red hot blade. Maria of course could not tell what was happening, but she knew it was all going to her benefit.

Soon the blade was staunched and beaten again and again, revealing something quite equisite. Instead of a straight black blade, the edges and internal designs were coated in a bronze color. At the center, where the blade has its two side blades an eye is resting there.

“The eye of the Lord.” Maria called out as she accepted the blade, “Who… are you?”

“I am just a simple smith.” The man answered before giving a small smile, “You should head on your way, Maria. I am sure a few are wondering where you had gone.”

With that Maria inched herself away from the old man, looking away for just a moment before looking back. However when she did there was no more smithy, not even a sandstone building in her view.

“Was I…” Maria’s worries were wiped when she looked back down at her hand, within it laying the blade that was just forged. With a sigh she took the weapon and placed it upon her back, though tempted to hide the eye she was not too sure.

Would it be alright if she displayed her faith proudly?

That question was forever still on her mind as she arrived at the caravan, the men all looking refreshed while the two maids and ward recovered a little bit. Solomon of course was the first to notice her return, giving a wave, “Welcome back, how was the town?”

“It was modest, if a bit… odd.” Maria answered while getting up onto her camel, “Everything good here?”

“Yes… they are.” Solomon answered before a flash of something went across his face, “It… seems you did have an eventful trip.”

As they continued their trip Maria began to change a few things about her wear. Gone was the cloak, replacing it was Maira’s medium plate armor and an iron helm that covered her face. The armor itself was a combination of cloth and scale, making it obviously from the local area. However the metal was blackened, and the golden highlights was enough to draw a reasonable amount of eyes to it.

However what Maria made sure was prominent was the spear upon her back. While she did not want these activities drawn straight towards her, an image of a great noble knight on pilgrimage was enough to make Maria more than happy with the potential outcomes. The Lord as her guide, Maria was sure to make way.

Like that they traveled for a day, taking rest at the sun’s highest within a cave of sandstone. It was when the sun slowly set that Maria and Solomon were sitting next to one another.

Maria herself was looking out onto the setting sun, “So how much further will we be going?”

“We will be coming across the city of Maleun by tomorrow, and then after that we are looking at two more days.” Solomon answered as he recited the directions, “In Maleun, we will release the knowledge of Dahia to the world.”

“You seem to know your way around your Empire well.” Maria answered with a smile, “Your people are lucky to have you for sure.”

“Indeed they are.” The young dictator willingly gloated with a smile, “What of the up and coming Empire’s? Are they worthy to be my equals?”

“I am firmly able to say the current heir is not.” Maria answered without a second thought, “He is a fool, easily sucked into a fantasy without any regards for if its real or not. Include into that he is literally meant to be a puppet of his Vassals, and I do not see him growing any better.”

“So I take that as a no?”

“Indeed.”

“And what of the other? I have heard their succession permits an election of sorts, correct?”

“You are correct. So you are asking what Elric would be like?”

“Yes! I cannot expect much as I’m not even competing against him, but it would give me a more sound knowledge in the occurances.”

>Elric can be an equal, he has the potential.
>The boy lacks ambition. Though do not hold that against him, as while he use to not look towards the crown he is still of able body.

“I would say that if Elric was to become Emperor, he would be your equal. At one point he was not, however thanks to a little prodding the boy realized what true potential he has.” Maria answered back with a small huff.

“Something the matter with my question?”

“Are you asking that as a potential friend of your fellow empire, or as someone desiring who is still considering feeding bloodthirsty gods?”

The man went red for a moment, both in surprise and in anger, however that went away before he spoke again, “That is… hurtful for you to say. Do you think I am always looking for some kind of advantage?”

“You did say you were ambitious, so I can never leave things at that.”

“Indeed I did say that.” The young man admitted while shaking his head, “It was simply a topic of conversation, something to get the wheels moving.”

“You choose a topic that was quite heavy for casual chatting.”

“Indeed, seems I was mistaken.” Solomon admitted before turning back to Maria, “However, I do not believe we really have spoken anything besides my Empire and its workings.”

“Well…” Maria thought to herself of the reason why that is, “Maybe because it's interesting?”

“Maybe it is interesting, I would be interested in such things as well.” Solomon admitted as the sun finally set, “However I do have other interests and I am sure you do.”

“You have me there Solomon.” Maria was grave to admit the error herself, “So… why don’t you start us.”

“Why don’t you?” Solomon fired back, “I have told you lots of myself already.”

“Hmph, firing back the responsibility back to me.” Maria fired back with a wave of the hand.

“Fine, I enjoy books.” Maria said while folding her legs, “Fictional ones, mainly.”

“Like the great epics of old?” Solomon asked with a raised brow.

“No, I like the more recent ones.” She stated while leaning back a little, “Stories about heroes, villians, and love. Where they all fight against one another for who shall get the happy ending.”

“So… the happy ending would be whoever gets achieves love?”

“Hmph, you know Solomon, you can atleast act ignorant.” Maria fired back with a playful pout.

“Sorry sorry, though I have not seen…” The man thought to himself for a moment, “Any stories like that. Where do you get them from?”

“You would like to know that.” Maria laughed while shaking her head, “Do not worry, as one is currently being written now. While I was writing one, I did not have nearly the amount of time the other girl has.”

“She must be an eccentric mind.”

“Fein Kers surely does. Sometimes I regret hooking her up with my brother.” Maria admitted with a solemn laugh, “She carries in her blood the Morse, you see. So you can expect a series of complications and insanity that my brother is currently going through.”

“I can as I lived that life everyday for five years.” Solomon answered with a coy smile, “Right now I bet you they are linging him up for a dual against her father right now!”

With that the two gave a laugh, though Maria’s was soon stopped when she realised something, “You’re… joking right?”

“I… sorry about your loss.”

“Pff, I would think my brother can handle himself just fine.” Maria reassured before facing the man again, “What about yourself, do you have any interests?”

“Falconing.” Solomon answered without a thought, “Though I regret not visiting their cages these days. Things have been too busy for me to open them.”

“Sounds fun, by chance can I order them to take out smaller birds?”

“I belive they can,” Solomon answered before giving a devilish smile, “Do you want one to take care of that problem?”

i guess I can see that, but it would have to be at least a little distant for her to not act like they're her cousins instead of enemies to slaughter. I figured it was more of a nearby
germanic tribe than one she has direct blood from. Given the general boogeyman nature of Morsemen in Austin, some idiot would have had to be dumb enough to try an bully her about it right in front of our face?
So I guess I should adjust my headcanon image of things a bit and go with the Morsemen being asgard and Kers being some sort of Vanir equivalent? Not a 1:1 of course, although Kers does have the health and fertility traits of the Vanir down if you look at things from the right POV.

I was also wondering if you had combined norseman with moors as a play on words which would make them some sort of north african vikings with settlements around the norway equivalent as a result of their travels. So Kers being that also came up as a bit of a shock.

If Kers is part morsemen and she knew about the bird because of our heritage, is the that fucking bird going to try and make Solomon's men turn traitor to stop us at some point?

“A Falcon would not be bad at all.” Maria answered with a smile.

“Then when I get the chance I will have the beast brought to you.” Solomon answered back with a strong determination in his voice.

“I will be awaiting the day.” Maria answered back before cracking a small smile, “See, that was not so bad.”

“Indeed I guess you are right. Though I am ashamed of myself for not bringing you to my falconry when we were in my city.” Solomon gave a solemn sigh, “I do look forward towards this book that is being written. Would you have any suggestions in the meantime?”

“Fufu, I can’t really give any as they have yet to exist.” Maria answered with a small snicker.

“You are forever filled with mysteries, aren't you.”

“Don’t they make me better though?”

“They are intriguing.” He complimented before giving a smile Maria could not really place, “But atlast, I hope that sometime in my life I can solve them all.”

“Flattery, I should expect nothing less of you Solomon.” Maria said even as her face was getting red.

“Small steps at first.” Solmon said we he rose from his seat and pulled Maria up to him, “While our time is limited, everystep is worth it.”

“Charming…” Maria felt a small warmness in her chest, “However, it is time for us to move.”

As the night’s glowing moon crossed the sky Maria brought her camel back a little. With that simple motion, she was now riding next to Melody and Dahia. Both girls gave a semi-respectful bow as they showed worn smiles.

“So, how has the training been fairing the two of you?” Maria asked they they passed over a dune.

“Its been, ugh.” Melody answered while rubbing her head, “Its just been so hot and cold. Are we passing into hell or something?”

“I do not think so, Melody.” Maria answered with a small shaking of the head, “This is a Pilgrimage, they are never supposed to be easy on the body.”

“I understand. I am sorry for my lapse in faith there.” The girl answered while giving a quick bow.

“Melody Melody, don’t worry so much over it though. You are sticking with us are you not?”

“Y-Yes I am! To the end Mistress!”

“Good.” Maria finished while turning towards Dahia, “And what of yourself?”

“I have been, good?” She admitted while shaking her head for a moment, “Its just, strange.”

“What is?”

“The winds and the sands, how they move.” She answered while looking from side to side, “Its as if they are alive.”

“Alive? Would you say they are watching you?”

“I… don’t know.” She admitted with worry crossing her face.

“By chance has something like this happened before?”

“Y-yes! When I escaped them the same thing happened.”

Maria could not help but catch that line, “You never said how you got away. What exactly happened?”

“Oh, I never did say.” She placed her hands on a flatten stomach, “B-back when I was pregnant I reached out towards some birds in the sky. To my suprise, they came to my help and shatted the window that was keeping me in. However…”

“They never helped you afterwards.”

The girl gave a solemn nod to the issue. So it seems the girl might have used her ability, but it might have also been a nice slight against the Baltic God. So when the chance to fuck with the cult were gone, the god simply abandoned one of its children.

Still, there was a grand issue there that needed taken care of.

The birds connection is interesting, but has a decent chance of being a coincidence since Chloe is near peak demigod without outward appearances of one while Dahlia is extremely obvious. Of course we must remain paranoid and remember to ask Solomon if the method h used to disguise himself could be used on and maintained on a demigod like Chloe unknowingly to disguise her heritage later.
And the extra paranoid theory is that the civil war about to start has been planned by the same coalition of gods trying to take down Austin in order to make the conflict spill over.

Thus came the issue in Maria’s mind. It seems that at least one god was trying to spy on them using the blood of Dahia, and giving them such information was not in her mind of doing things. There was really only one possible way Maria could think of to ward off the watchful eyes of a demented God.

“Then we shall sing.” Maria answered out with a firm authoritative in her voice.

Melody gave a solemn nod to the notion as the worry was on Dahia’s face, “Uh, my apologies that I am just a little ignorant in the words.”

“Thats alright, and honestly they are going to be in the language of the lord so it might be even more gibberish to you.” Maria admitted with a small chuckle, “Don't worry, just repeat after us.”

The girl gave a cautious nod, but seemed more than willing. With it all settled they began, first singing the ‘Lord and his Salvation’.

Indeed that was the thing Maria noted about the Lord’s language. It was somehow a language that she knew, but would always be different. However whenever she sang it there was always the nice feeling of being uplifted, the small amount of divinity spared to give his people knowledge that yes, the Lord is always here with them.

The reactions were of course different to everyone who looked their direction. The Morse simply gave no real heed to their words, the barbaric men likely taken to tolerance of other faiths to heart because of their job.

Matarid was looking a little worried while the words were being sung, and maybe a little bit bothered. Maria knew that the girl was going to be a little harder to convince, as unlike maybe Solomon who was obviously considering apostasy she had nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Speaking of the man himself, Solomon looked over with what Maria guess was a minor set of pride, however that was soon washed away as he continued to listen to Maria’s singing more. Yeah she was not the best, she gave up that opportunity when she entered the battlefield.

Soon the deserts slowly turned from several mounds of sand back into a reasonable sandstone. This was soon followed by the sudden existence of numerous that seemed to spotted the landscape. Plants gave way to farmland, which Maria was certain was one hell of a job trying to keep growing. However, the girl noticed how the farmhands and families were no where to be seen.

“Something is not right.” Solomon called out as he noticed all the signs too, “Stay on guard men!”

As they did the Morse gave out a small murmur across all of them. It seemed they were all itching for a fight, and what was happening made them think one was coming this way.

However as they got closer Maria noticed that the people were still around. The occasional opening of doors and such were enough to let her know that.

However when they came across guardless gates, she knew something was terribly wrong.

“I wonder what happened here.” Maria called out as they advanced into the city proper.

The place of course looked barren, but there was great evidence of at least some kind of mayhem occuring. The slight sounds of rustling was enough to show the place was alive, but atlast no one seemed to want to come out.

Soon enough when they arrived at the market square the evidence was obvious, with items thrown everywhere. The mess continued onwards from the spot, leaving a path of destruction right towards the greatest building in the area.

“Monster attack.” Solomon called out upon seeing the ruins.

“I think you are very much right there Solomon.” Maria answered while taking another moment to look around, “Any ideas why?”

“I cannot, though there is a reason for it. Otherwise there would be no city for us to step in.”

“Alright then, spread out and look for survivors!” Maria ordered everyone around her, “I will be seeing about the locals myself. Matarid come.”

“U-understood Malika!”

As they left Maria was not expecting to hear footsteps coming behind her, which were in the form of Solomon. The man simply shined a smile which was enough for Maria to lament. The man can do what he wants by Maria’s concerns, she wasn’t his mother.

“So which house are you going to knock on first?” Solomon asked as they came to a stop.

“I feel, this one here shall provide us the best result.” Maria answered as she turned on her heels and knocked on the door.

There was a few whispers coming from the other side just as the wood rang. Indeed Maria’s guess was just right, as within moments the door opened to a rather slim middleaged man. Though she noticed the most admament feature was the imbeded look of terror that was on his face, “W-who are you!? W-what do you want?”

“I am just a traveling Pilgrim.” Maria answered as the armor protected the rest of her identity, “What in the world happened?”

“A Viserator came, that's what!” The man sounded off with worry embeded in his voice, “Tore through the market square and walked up to the Mayor’s mansion.”

“A… Viserator? Why would one be here? How long ago?”

“Uh, j-just this morning ma’am.” He answered before his eyes seemed to darken, “H-he said he needed sacrifices for his Queen.”

“The Queen.” Solomon called out before making his way to the front, “You said, ‘Sacrifices for the Queen’!”

The man’s face seemed to cowar more, however he held no power against Solomon’s divine voice, “YES! I-I think he wanted to start with our Lord’s daughter!”

>Run straight for the Palace

OK. I really wasn't going to go for fucking up a dragon, but think we have several ideas we can reference from chunni or past proximity to chunni in our past life alone.
Is it possible to make enough alcohol to knock out a dragon?
Do we know how to make dynamite or nitro glycerin?
Depower it like we do a Carnite?
As much as I really really want to turn her into a mount for a laugh, I don't think we're strong enough to force it into submission via bopping it on the head with a bible and there's always a chance it decides to play pretend for shits and giggles to get access to an entire school full of princesses. So the Saint Martha route is out.
Seigfreid route?
What does dragon taste like? Are we going to have a barbecue and accidentally make a village of immortal worshippers of the lord? As far as gods go (dragons tend to occupy a blurry line between god and not god where it not being a god is a matter of opinion, so eating a queen = close enough) it's a better snack than what Saint Almer had to eat.

“Kukuku…. FUAHAHA!” Maria announced into the air a great laugh while Solomon was looking at her with confusion, “A dragon to slay? Solomon, how big of a force do we need to slay such a thing?”

“How big? Uh,” The man seemed to think for a moment, “They are mostly slain by squads of adventurers, though those men would always have some kind of weapon able to pierce the beast’s hide.”

“So what, are you saying we do not have something that can achieve that?”

“Well I would-” The man shook his head before turning his full profile to Maria, “Are you really thinking of fighting it!”

“Of course. The beast is obviously terrorizing people and I will not stand down when given a chance to fight.”

“And you realize that…” Solomon shook his head, “You know, why am I even afraid.”

“So you have convinced yourself?”

“No, its still the most stupid idea I have heard and is surely going to get us and my friends killed.” Solomon answered back without even a hint of remorse in his voice, “But if I cannot help kill a single vistorator, then following through with my ambition of a new world is impossible!”

“So, have any ideas? Like how we are going to ultimately kill it and why its even here.” Maria’s smile grew from ear to ear, “And don’t think for a second, if the queen is in our way I will end its life as well.”

“To slay the beast that not even the greatest hero of the Miaphate can compete against.” The Demigod simply shook his head before giving a laugh, “The creatures are big and easily tired, he is likely still nearby. Peasant, do you know?”

The man who had since looked at them with mortified faces of pure fear simply pointed in what seemed to be a random direction.

“So it went South? Tsk, I guess you are getting your wish my love.” Solomon answered with a sigh, “Thats where we would have been heading.”

“So the Queen… she’s likely at Ca’Ren isn’t she?”

“The Deserted City of the Mononites, a fitting place for her to roost and right where we want to go.” Solomon simply shook his head at the world he was in, “Well, if I have to be honest any size will do. If we use my men I expect almost all of them to die, and if we go by ourselves it will be much easier to fight.”

“You are talking as if you will always be coming with me.”

“Look, I am already taking a chance in wanting to make you my wife. If I am going to let you go and get yourself killed without at least try and make sure you don’t. And of course get the prestige.”

“Charming.”

“Not the aim here, I’m being realistic.”

“Then I will take you up on that thought.” Maria answered with a firm smile, “Just the two of us shall face down the creature.”

“I… wish there was a better way.” the man admitted before shaking his head, “I would ask, do you have anything to give us that little bit more edge.”

“Indeed I do, have you ever heard of coffee?”

It was within the next few hours that Maria and Solomon were back on the road, though this time without support or guards. Honestly Maria could have done without the panicing Melody or all the Morsemen almost begging to come along, but Maria really did not have any options here.

The traveling was not very fast, but they could not get any horses. Let it be also known Maria probably could not ride a warhorse worth shit in the grand scheme of things. There was not going to be any epic legends about a horseslayer on horseback.

With a spin of her weapon Maria balanced the spear in her hand. Next to her the Demigod who ruled the entire Empire brandished a scimitar, his skin covered in a light armor. The weapon he carried looked somehow both old and new, a slight feeling of radiance coming off from it alerting Maria to its more magical nature.

“What sword is that?” Maria asked the Dictator.

“Alqatie, the sword that can cut anything.” Solomon answered while looking forward with his profile obviously shaken, “Can’t believe out of all the things I am doing, its fighting a Visorator.”

“What, you thought you were going to fight a rebellion?”

“Yes, that was the worst I thought we would find.”

“Well then you have never been on a pilgrimage!” Maria annoucned with a laugh, “Everytime I go on one, it seems some supernatural force is trying to fuck me over.”

“Yes, the demons you mentioned before. I should have had better foresight to your fate, Maria.”

“H-hey! You are not supposed to say my name at all.” Maria quickly complained with a pout.

“Heh, cute but we are going to have a dance with death. At the very least I would like to call the person to whom I love by her real name.”

“Tsk… j-just remember to go back afterwards.” Maria answered back with a blush.

“We will see, I might just have your name sung across the mountains and valleys in celebration. Especially if things go the way we are thinking.” He announced without care.

As they finished the sounds of low thuds began to erupt into the air as around the large sandstone monoliths a large dot came out. It was in an instant Maria recognized it, a dragon whose scales were a darken red and was obviously coming in for a rush.

With its claws prepared, it looks like it was ready to just grab their mounts and rip them in two. Well, at least Maria’s had the coffee on it.

There's probably a merchant who's got cargo lying around the market. Coffee was a major commodity in those days so it stands to reason there should be a few pounds in the tens or thirties there.

As for how to deliver it. We can probably open up an animal and put it in with bags under the beast flesh without too much worry and shove it in a cart. Something like a camal or an ox. That way the monster will eat it when tired als monster hunter.

Did we bring any potions with us? If not, maybe some are at the marketplace.

I was going back over the dust explosions section and it seems coffee is suitable for causing these types of explosions. We basically just have to make sure it's very finely ground and even if we don't manage to make it explode, a dragon breathing in all of that caffeine should help it on it's way to getting a heart attack and/or heat stroke.

Pepper spray is a bit more difficult since it entirely depends on QM rulings on if/when a Columbus equivalent shows up. Peppers spread like mad (to several continents) almost immediately after the new world was found and I think there have been a few random new world things that have shown up in the quest, but it's unsafe to make assumptions about ecology in an isekai.

“Are you ready!?” Solomon yelled as he brought the blade to heel, “I’ve got a good feeling its going to go straight for you!”

“Perfect, now come on can camels charge?” Maria called out as she give her minor beast a good kick in the hips. In response it began to move forward, and while it was actually exceeding a horse at full gallop, “COME ON YA DRAGON!”

“Damn her, really.” Solomon said with a smile before getting his creature to match the same speed.

Who would have known that Camels were actually really fast, that much Maria thought. The speeds they were reaching was enough to get them right at the dragon, Maria preparing the Camel. The poor beast was not really knowing Maria’s plan as she prepared the spear and small barrel of beans.

“Pesky human!” It called out without remorse, “Offering yourselves to me, you are but fools who shall become my meal!”

As Maria heard those roaring words, the gap was only 50 yards. Sentiance did not really change Maria’s opinion or tactic, as she made sure anything tying her to her mount were released.

The creature gave a laugh as soon he was upon her, maw wide as he attempted to bite down on her. However in that moment, Maria leaped off the top and somersaulting over the dragon.

As the dragon took a massive bite out of the camel, Maria drew her spear, “In the name of the Lord and all that is Divine, begon!” And with the strike winged joint.

Now normally the beast would have survived such an attack with ease, his scales providing protection against even Solomon’s sword. However the spear was reforged by an Angel, and made from the remenants of a God slaying blade. Whenever it strikes diving flesh, the spear that would change properties and continue the attack through the creature’s flesh.

Thus, the weapon’s property became known to Maria. The more divine the creature, the more harmful the wound. Thus to a creature like the Viserator, a simple strike that would normally simply bounce off its scales became amplified. Divine retribution was determined, and a Mortal Wound was received.

The drug was not needed, really, but getting stuffed in the Dragon’s throat did guarantee its death in that instant.

“Maria!” Solomon yelled as he whipped around and received the stunned Spear Saint, “Fucking Gods, what was that!”

“The Lord’s answer!” She called out as the two watched the creature’s magnificent crash.

It was already going fast, the dragon, so the wipeout that is experienced with no control threw it around like a ragdoll. Twisting and turning, multiple times the neck and face were slammed into the dirt while the creature’s injured wing flew across the scenery.

Soon Solomon brought his steed to a simple trout, firmly holding Maria in his arms, “Well, that things dead.”

It probably works better than it did for Almer (He had to eat the god) due to angelic intervention but it's good to be sure. I think we should save the dragon eating meals for the queen.

>Look for the daughter it had stolen
She's the first priority, but she can live with waiting a few minutes for us to ensure her captor is dead.

As a general suggestion to anons.
>The ability could also be acquired by tasting dragon blood. According to the Poetic Edda and the Völsunga saga, Sigurd accidentally tasted dragon blood while roasting the heart of Fafnir. This gave him the ability to understand the language of birds, and his life was saved as the birds were discussing Regin's plans to kill Sigurd. Through the same ability Áslaug, Sigurd's daughter, found out the betrothment of her husband Ragnar Lodbrok to another woman.
I'm not saying that we'll absolutely gain the ability to spy on what that damn bird is saying to Chloe. I'm just saying that we could totally disrupt it's nefarious plans if it doesn't realize we can hear it.

“Hmm, you know I thought we were going to fight it more.” Maria admitted Solomon brought the camel to the fallen creature.

“Indeed that is what I thought too.” The man admitted with a sigh, “It seems that… weapon is something otherworldly.”

“I am just honored to have it, but…”

“You wanted to fight the creature on more even terms?”

“Yes, who wouldn’t.”

“Well you will surely get your wish later, this is just a child of the Queen.” Solomon answered while shaking his head, “When fighting her we will have much more trouble.”

“I hope it is,” Maria said before giving the creature another stab, “There, now we need to find where is the kidnapped girl is.”

“Then lets go!” Solomon announced while bringing the Camel about.

As they already knew where the beast came from, the two people moved in the direction that the Viserator came from. The small amount of sandstone structure did not leave much to look through, and within a few moments they found the small cave.

As the few steps reverberated through the room someone slowly stepped from within the shadows, “W-who's there!”

“Your Miaph and your Hero!” Solomon quickly announced as both he and Maria brought themselves into the place.

“W-what! I-if the, uh!” The voice said

“Do not fret, the Viserator has been slain and we are here to rescue you.” Maria announced herself while dismounting from the camel, “Are you the daughter of the local lord?”

“I-indeed I am.” The girl admitted while quickly walking out to meet Maria. She was older that both Maria and Solomon, maybe around the age of 18, “H-how can I ever repay you!?”

“Well, you could help us with something.” Maria answered while turning towards Solomon who gave a simple nod, “Though we should return back to the City first.”

“U-understood!” The girl answered before rushing out the cave entrance.

“You know, it is going to be a long trip back.” Solomon called out as the two exited the cave behind the girl.

“Then we should get started.” Maria announced with a cheering smile.

The way back was indeed longer, as this time both Maria and Solomon were stuck on foot. The girl who they found was riding the remaining camel along with a small amount of scales Maria wanted to use as evidence of her kill.

So the better part of the morning went and the afternoon came, though they were barely as they arrived at the gates. In the meantime, the two had opted to use the acquired pelt as a cover against the dreadful rays of the sun.

Once they arrived at the gates the girl turned towards them, “So… you want me to announce that a Daughter of Sarhar was… kidnapped and raped by Baltic’s cult?”

“That would be the message.” Maria announced with a smirk, “As of now the Miaph has the girl, and while she is now his ward.”

“I understand.” The girl said with a firm nod before turning towards them, “Are you… going to leave already?”

“Well, we don’t know.” Maria admitted while scratching her head, “By now all of our servants are rested, so we might be able to just have them guide our rides while we sleep.”

“Y-you can definitely rest in my father’s palace for at least for a little while.” The girl answered with a smile, “Though, I understand if you need to move forward. You will have my eternal gratitude already.”

We're not gonna be able to convert the city that way. That's why I'm aiming for getting the local lord to give pilgrims of our god better treatment and safe passage. It'll be easier to covert the population that way.

Our god just swung his dick down HARD by making us one shot a dragon that terrorized the populace. Most legends with saints popping up already have the entire town converted just from a basic equivalent of what we did. Meanwhile their local gods aren't doing shit and/or invented dragons.
This town is basically secured as far as religion goes for the next several centuries.

Back to the sands they went, as there really was no time for them to lose. As Maria lost her personal camel in the combat against the Dragon, she had simply relegated herself to the back of Solomon’s. Of course both of them had to rest, leaving the beast in the hands of their trusted guards.

A few hours later, after the sun had set that Maria opened her eyes and looked over the distance they had traveled, “Ugh, damn that was not a good way to sleep.”

“Tell me.” Solomon said as he shook himself for a moment, “While I do not mind having you at my back, you are heavy.”

“That is a dreadful thing to say to a girl.”

“Do I need to censor my words when she is wearing armor?”

“Then tell her that the armor was heavy, not herself.” Maria lectured with a smile.

“Understood ma’am, I will endeavor to tell her next time that she is not heavy, but instead she wears heavy armor.” Solomon answered with a smirk.

“Good good, at least you know now.”

“Yeah yeah.” Solomon announced while looking up into the stars, “You know, what is your aim for the future?”

“The future? Thats like asking a kid what he wants to grow up to be.”

“But do you not have multiple chances now?” Solomon answered back with a smile, “Its obvious that your God looks down upon you in a good light. However you also have your schemes to expand your homeland and even here in the Miaphate.” He answered while nodding towards Dahia.

That is a good thought he pointed out, what shall be her aim here onwards. When she slays the great Dragon Queen, she will gain notoriety across the entire world. Off just the fame alone she could rest knowing that the church would look after both herself and whoever she chooses. However, that was not something that settled well with her.

“I… do not know.” Maria answered with a sigh, “I for sure wish the best for my Father’s realm, as MaKain is one of the few places I can truly call home. Its just, sometimes you can get tired of it all.”

“The person who did not second guess fighting a Viserator, is getting tired of it all?”

“Well of course, at some point I will need to settle down in a city or something.” Maria answered with a firmness in her voice, “Have bunches of children, watch them grow old and then pass away myself. Who would not want that?”

“Not you.” Solomon answered with a smirk, “And not myself either.”

“How can you say I don’t want it?”

“Easy, look at where you are now!” The man demonstrated to the dunes and sandstone that covered the lands before him, “You have come all this way to head to a land that you barely know of, in search of esoteric knowledge that may or may not exist. Yes we now know your God supports you, the evidence is unquestionable, but did you know that the moment you decided to come?”

“I… no I did not. Everything you say is correct.”

“And that speaks to your character, someone who is more than willing to kill to get what they want. Remember years back when I first met you? When I asked you to kill the Miaph for me?”

“Indeed I do, which does bring up something I never quite got. Why in the world did you ask a prisoner to kill their warden?” Maria spat with an air of confusion about her, “You were an absolute lunatic thinking that was even possible.”

“Well I was young, much younger than I am now.” Solomon laughed with a smile before giving another chuckle, “You see, heh, since my father was treated as a simple asset I was always in the Palace of Al’Kain, but never received a real education from the tutors nor had any children my age around. I hung out with the Morse more often than not, getting a brutish education and listening to all the happening that was occuring. One time, I heard talk about the most insane girl who I ever heard of.”

“And what was she doing?”

“Climbing everywhere she could listen into all the conversation of the palace.” He laughed a stupid laugh, “Those idiots teased me to no end after that, but soon came a chance. While I was preparing for my own joining into the war, I was told by Gunner I could finally meet my girlfriend.”

“And you… ACCEPTED IT!!” Maria announced with a laugh, drawing the snickers from the crowd of Morse around them.

“Yes I did, but like, do you blame me? I get to meet the girl who killed a Miaph, a Kingslayer! Someone who at the very least I should if I never get the chance again.” He blabbered off with a blush.
>>
“So that leave the question, why exactly did you ask me to kill the Miaph?”

“I-it was spur of the moment.” The Dictator of a country twice the size of the Holy Austin Empire admitted while lowering his head so much Maria could see over it, “I… just had a good guess you could pull it off.”

“And the other thing?” Maria asked while leaning in a little closer with a smile, “The payment

“That… what else was I going to give you.” He complained, “I had no money to my name, I could not give you any land, and there was no possibility of promising you a priesthood.”

“You could have promised me escape, Solomon. I know you are smarter than that.” Maria admitted with a wonder building up in her head, “Why that.”

“I… thought you were amazing and beautiful.” He answered with a small chuckle in his voice, “Even though you were a prisoner, your eyes were the sharpest I had seen in a person. I knew for one you would succeed, and I also knew I would never regret making you my wife.”

“Sounds like you got most of the benefits since then.” Maria announced with a smirk, “I did escape without issue.”

“Indeed you had, but trust me to say that almost did not happen.” Solomon claimed with a small chuckle, “Do you realize how many people wanted you dead? How many of my cousins wanted to kill you thinking that if they did, they would inherit the right to the Empire.”

“So all those relatives you killed?”

“Was to protect you. You probably realized it now, but I was only able to do it when I invoked an old law meant to settle royal succession. Some men did not raise armies, but instead thought killing you was enough to win the Miaphate. It would not have, but I made sure they were wrong anyways.”

I'm not aiming for a harem, chill. This being said I like to be on good terms with solomon, even knowing that not choosing him will make him sad, specially knowing that his killings were more to protect us than to acquire the throne, and most likely he'll try to invade austin and/or us either to get our hand or just to be better than the last miaph. in a worse turn of events if we do this badly, to kill us for the prestige and revenge. considering how we did things until now i don't think this has a chance of happening, specially since we didn't bait him into romance, just gave the opportunity he needed to be close with us

“Well, thank you.” Maria answered while wrapping her hands around Solomon’s waist, “Though I think those men would have been commiting suicide at that rate.”

“Well it just depends on if any of them reached you, which I guess they did not.” Solomon answered while he was growing an acute redness in the face, “Lets get going.”

“We shall.”

With that the group crossed through the sand dunes, soon eclipsed by a variety of sandstone mountains. Slowly Maria noticed the changes in the stars, where many of those she noticed in her homelands were slowly becoming visible.

She was now feeling a little, fuzzy now. It was obvious they were in the horizons between the Lord and the Miaphate’s influence upon the region, and somehow she knew this was going to happen all across the area. Was this the chance that Solomon was looking for? Was this place as hard to see through as the Lord’s ability himself.

“Step carefully everyone.” Solomon advised with a voice of a leader, “The queen is near, and I would not want to alert her to our presence just yet.”

The rest of the group gave nods to that, as they all slowly advanced through the mountainous rocks. These rocks kinda remind Maria of MaKain, in that they seemed built up just for the purpose of defending the softer inlands of the area.

“So, what do you think?” Solomon asked as he looked over his shoulder to Maria, “How safe are we?”

“Hmm, I can’t really say.” Maria admitted with a small annoyance on her mind, “These creatures, how smart can they be?”

“It varies, alot. Though I bet their mother is smarter than any of us here.” Solomon answered as if he knew that was the truth.

So that gave a few options to Maria, as it seems obvious that an ambush by those dragons can occur. Though there is also the chance that the creatures are so arrogant that they do not attempt it thinking they are unkillable.

Then again, Maria might be robbing these men of a good fight. But on the flip side of that, they had both Dahia and Melody as fellows on the travel.

“Lets advance, Solomon.” Maria announced with a smile, “Stick to the low valleys and roads if you can.”

“Understood.” Solomon answered as he drove the beast forward, “Follow me everyone.”

There was a few skeptical looks for the moment, but when Melody moved with knowledge that her master would not lead her astray. Soon the force of 15 men followed suite, their arms already prepared for a coming fight they were surely going to experience.

“Go a little to the left, something is coming.” Maria whispered, causing Solomon to narrowly dodge the movements of a Dragon moving eastwards.

“Close, how did you see it coming?”

“Just a feeling if I gotta be honest.” Maria admitted as she pointed, “Go that way, it will give us some cover.”

Every step was thought out and methodical, easily displaying the brilliant military mind that Maria possessed. Though there was still a tenseness to the situation, and Maria knew that one wrong step was enough to make them eviscerated.

However they soon came out of the mountains, to a modest valley that led to a small town and a lake. Maria could already feel it crawling among the ruins, the literal embodiment of a God’s authority on this earth.

“So, any plans?” Solomon asked Maria as they looked over everything.

“Well, if we consider I got really lucky earlier, this will be a life or death fight correct?” Maria asked the Dictator.

“You would be correct, and the moment they hear their Queen’s wrath they will surely swoop or crawl over to try and kill us with numbers.”

“So you got any suggestions?” Maria Asked Solomon.

“I thought you were the brilliant strategist who got us here.”

“Only a fool would listen to their own opinion.” Maria answered before turning to the men with them, “Also, the fact is how willing are our men.”

“If we told them to attack the queen directly they would do so, and be slaughtered but might kill her quicker.” Solomon announced without a hint of remorse. “Though, if against the horde to come, they might be able to hold them off. I assume you have a good hiding place for the others?”

“There is a cave a little while back too small for them to enter, and it looked deep. They will hide in there.” Maria tapped her spear as she pondered for a moment, “Though, this does mean we will lose lots of men.”

My original plan on that first dragon was to semi banish it like we can do to carnites in order to drop it's resistance to coffee. In this case we can weaken the dragons and knock a few out of the air to injure themselves from the fall because they shouldn't scientifically be capable of flight.

“Melody, can you get to the cave I pointed out?” Maria asked her faithful attendent.

“Y-yes I can! W-we will head there now!” She exclaimed before herding the other girls away.

“Alright men!” Solomon announced while standing upon a jetting, “This is where you idiots get your damn fights. In just a few moment the hordes of Viserators will come, are you fucks ready to fight them to the death?”

Maria was a little surprised at the language, however the men all rejoiced at hearing them. Honestly these muscle head were all Maria could want out of an army, and soon she will see what they are capable of.

Feeling the moment given to her Maria took a few steps forward and took out her spear, “In the name of the Lord I bless you all with good battle! May a dozen foes fall underneath your feet!”

There was a soft shine coming from Maria’s relic, but the others did not seem to glow as well. Maria could only shrug, as really her target was the hordes of Dragons that were going to come towards them.

“Alright let's get going.” Solomon called out, the two quickly getting onto the camel.

In her honest opinion it would have looked a lot better if they were riding some majestic steed, however opting to simply ride a camel into the valley was nothing bad at all. Soon enough they were walking across a bridge likely older than the entire Empire of Austin, followed by their entrance into the city itself.

Quickly Maria noted the large amount of shattered walls and evidence of a previous war. Scratches and old skeletons littered the place, further proving the old atrocities that were commited by the Gods of the Miaphate.

There was a slight shaking of the earth as they approached. Soon they could see it, at the center of the ruins a giant creature whose scales glistened in the moonlit night. It was massive as well, easily being the size of the cathedral that rested in the middle of Altmer.

Luckily, their quiet approached seems to have left it asleep.

“Carefully now.” Maria answered while steedily advancing across the landscape, “I want to get one nice hit on the creature.”

“Just, be careful Maria.” Solomon called out as he followed her through the rubble of the Lord’s City.

“I will be.” Maria answered as she brandished her blade.

It was to their luck that the Queen was alone, not a single other creature around her to fight with. With that little bit of confidence in Maria’s heart, she advanced closer and closer until she was right next to the creature.

There was the baited breath, Maria looking at a closed eye that was almost half the size of her. How the hell she got this far, Maria does not really know, but she was going to kill this creature.

Her heart however skipped a beat as the eye fluttered open. Maria could not even curse herself as the divine beast gave a roar that almost broke her ears to hear.

“So you are the scum I was told to kill. You look puny enough”

With that announcement the creature's jaws widened, easily eclipsing Maria’s meager size. Swiftly it moved, to which Maria barely escaped as a quick slam against her sent her and it flying. As the creature pulled back its mouth as if to swallow something Maria found herself next to a roughly bruised Solomon.

“Fucking close, you alright?” He asked

“Y-yeah! I was so close too!”

“To think you humans expect so little of me.” The beast announced with a growing grin, “Sneaking upon me, though I will take your beast as a willing payment.”

Yeah, Maria did not expect the creature to have a sense of humor. She doubly did not like it when the beast grew to a much greater height, jokeningly cleaning its teeth with its claws.

“However, you still trespass upon my land. That will cost you your lives.”

Yeah, they are going to have problems now.

Bait it into pieces of the arena environment to counter attack, it's also a large creature so getting under it below it's mouth and limb range will make us harder for it to deal with and also easier to kill with our pike.
If the arena has scalable parts er should use it to get above and onto the back of this thing to strike down onto it's spine and head.

I was personally thinking we take her whole skeleton back to be a museum exhibit in McKain like we do with dinosaurs. It would be a great tourist attraction. Maybe have a few other skeletons on display in the town where we saved that girl. Then we outfit our army/men with gear made out of dragons. Our dad can probably use some dragonskin boots at bare minimum?(I personally think a dragonskin suit would be kinda cool and fashionable to wear even at events where it's awkward to be wearing protective gear.

That came out wrong. I meant that whatever (presumably) god ordered the queen might have been what caused the city to end. We're gonna have to interrogate any surviving dragons for info. Maybe press them into service and make them upstanding members of the community by binding them in service to god or something?

Maybe?, but i'm not exactly gonna bring a bunch of dragons near a school full of princesses when we return because they pinky promised they wouldn't eat anyone. There need to be assurances and I want those assurances magically/divinely enforceable at the very bare minimum to keep them in check for future generations.

It's fairly standard in stories/legends to beat demons into submission (Krampus) or cow them with divine might into entering a servant contract or promise in general. As far as my first thought goes, fealty to the lord is mandatory or else we'd be obligated to burn them as heretics. Then since payment is traditional in combat for captured POWs they'd have to pay us back somehow for their lives.
So something like our home country now having dragoons seems like a logical next step and i'm not leaving room for betrayal from them.

Eg We die and since the promise was to us they don't have to keep it anymore. Better to get em to promise to serve the Lord. Making them servants of our line in particular also opens up for bad end futures when a descendant of ours goes full tyrant with an army full of dragons. God hasn't been doing Sodom and gomorrah crap in the Austin region for thousands of years, so he's a relatively stable bet against going full Hitler with dragons.

Given that so many of them exist in the middle of a desert without starving, i'm going to guess their metabolism isn't that high most of the time and we can easily set up infrastructure to pay them, have enough meat to feed them, allow for taxes, and generally bind the dragons to us through "civilization."

I'm also gonna eat the queen to make sure she doesn't regenerate or something. These dragons are going to fucking hate us for centuries if they're hypocrites about the whole eating sapient creatures thing or not sufficiently awed.

>Both of them run at it, one for each side of the creature
>>
>>4558641
Oh I wanted to nom on the queen for magic powers

Also I understand what you meant by binding now but originally I thought you meant forcing them to serve the Lord rather than it basically just being a guarantee that they will obey the law and stuff

Also if we're having dragons as citizens of Makin and we want them to serve long term could we make it so they can procreate or clone themselves somehow so we don't run out

Also is it really ethical to use dragon skin as armor considering it's basically saying sure you can use human skin as clothing to them
>>
>>4558870
Stop it with your logical facts and arguments!

Then again we do kind of have a human finger with us, so it's not actually that outrageous. We could also make an agreement with them later for not making any new items from dragon parts. Plus they're still all kinda evil monsters, so they'd need to have their psyche domesticated before integration. Or maybe there's a slightly less violent dragon among the survivors and they can get a visual cue that they've become a holy dragon? Economics involved in feeding them is a pretty big problem here too. Maybe use some of them for an international delivery service after negotiating airspace routes? they'll get outdone by technology eventually, but still able to help with shipping as a day job.
It's a win win either way I suppose and expecting a dragon fleet to defend our country would be greedy. Managing even one dragon as a mount is a bonus. We also kinda lopped the head off of what was probably Holo, so the main reason we'd even leave any alive right now is interrogating them on ancient history.
>>
>>4558885
No unless we are forced to I refuse to commit genocide on all of them. We should obviously defend ourselves but killing them all if they surrender is messed up
>>
>>4558885
Also yeah I suppose there is precedent that using body parts of sapient creatures as equipment is fine if it's practical

As for the psyche integration thing sure we can explain why we need them to obey the laws and stuff but domesticated doesn't seem like the right word considering the dragons are intelegent enough to talk and stuff

If we can educate them on why it's bad and give proof then some at least will realize what they did is wrong and will stop
>>
>>4558909
Natural Domestication has been used to refer to stuff like how bonobos are less inclined to violence than regular chimps. It's technically the right term so long as you mean more nonviolent and integrated into society.

>>4558904
These are actual man eating/slaughtering heretical monsters in the service of infernal gods that are all accomplices in the attempted murder of at least one human. We have an entire city full fo evidence of that along with our run in with said dragon. We would be perfectly justified for executing them for their past crimes. The fact that we're even trying to fidangle a reason to allow them to breathe a second longer is already a massive stretch of the imagination.

“Move now!” Maria announced as the creature slowly turned its head towards them. It was a quick action, the two of them splitting as a ray of electricity slammed into the place they once were. Even though the two of them were fast on reflect, Maria could feel a good chunk of her body burn at the breath weapon.

“Pesky creature running on a bloody hype, look at yourselves.” The creature laughed as it turned about, “You got all bloody on me!”

And the creature was not lying, Maria feeling the burns began to fester with blood. However that was only because they were out of position, and as the two of them ran at her the chances of using its breath attack shrunk.

“This City belongs to the Lord, the protector of humanity!” Maria yelled at the top of her lungs, “I will rid the earth of you!”

Upon those words Maria felt the burns on her body began to scream, quickly sealing them all while giving her strength. To think that the power of a Saint gave her so much vitality, was this the reason for becoming a Saint. Was she meant to be a warrior of the Lord?

That was what she pondered as she nimbly crossed over the tail that was meant to slam into her. Her blood pumping and years of practice seemed to synergise with the blessing, granting her inhuman strengths comparable to the Demon worshippers of before.

However she did not use it against men, but monsters.

“Hya!” She announced as a massive strike of her Partisan Blade ripped through the back of the Divine Creature’s foot. The moment of impact only showed the power of her weapon, the blade enlarging upon the impact to rend the damage done.

The moment she struck the foot moved on reflex, kicking at her. However the Saint was able to narrowly dodge the strike and barely land on the ground on her feet.

As she turned she saw Solomon striking at the limbs to no avail, the scales proving hard for a supposedly divine weapon in his possession. In response the leg he was attacking moved, however the extra force just gave the Demi-God enough force to finally pierce the limb and run with a purchase of blood.

However even with this strength Maria noted that Solomon’s flesh did not fair much better than hers. The lightning from earlier obviously wrecking his flesh, and no inhuman regeneration to speak of coming from his body. However, he could still fight!

>Try and disable the tail, such a large weapon would at least grievously wound the two of them if it hit.

“Solomon, advance with me!” Maria cried out as she brandished her weapon again.

“Got it!” The Demi-God answered as he retracted his blade and landed on the ground.

“Pesky creatures! You shall all die!”

With that call the two of them advanced, the Queen raising her foot and giving a nice stomp on the ground. However the seismic waves produced were not enough to bring either the Saint or Demi-God down.

The advance was met by the front claws, both massive limbs brushing against the ground as the Queen moved herself to better face the two fighters. The spin was of course something hard to dodge, as both Maria and Solomon were battered off onto the side with several brushes against the ground.

As Maria rose she quickly noticed the degrading state of her armor, and how the helm was blown somewhere across the desolate city. As for Solomon, the divine man’s shirt was torn asunder, exposing the numerous fleshy wounds that he was gaining through the battle.

“Become my Sacrifice!”

With a cry the jaws advanced against Maria, though the girl was able to dodge the attack with ease. However the throws of winds sent Solomon back a few feet, making him lose the chance at a counter attack against the monstrosity.

As Maria went in for the stab at the neck, the blade just barely reaching its neck, the creature quickly moved its head against her. She could only curse herself as a pillar of flames emerged from the throat.

“Awaken.”

Maria’s senses came back to her as she rose her head, a thin veil of golden light dancing around her. Somehow she recognized this place from another time, many years ago if she was correct. Yes, when she was ran over with a god damn truck.

“Indeed, it seems that you are quite the unusual person. Not only has your soul experienced two lives, but it is still coherent enough even after the second death.”

“M-My Lord!” Maria called out as she turned to see a blaring light shining upon her from above. It was the eye of the Lord, no the Lord himself. The Being who protects humanity with knowledge of the future, “Y-you have come to grace me with your presence!”

“Indeed I have, as I try all who die with my name upon their tongues.”

“Just… fucking hell.” Maria called out with a curse, “I have failed you! I have died without slaying the Queen, without banishing the Fake, without conforming your worship!”

“Yes.”

“I… am… tsk.”

“Not willing to accept death are we?”

I can think of two ways to get out of this. One is that it's a technical death similar to how you can be revived via modern medical technology, albeit one with a great deal of injuries. If god doesn't have modern scientific knowledge until he looks into the future we can possibly coach him on exactly what to do to revive us.

The second way is that the dragon went to swallow us whole, accidentally bit down on the spear, and coats us in that sweet sweet immortality/invulnerability juice ala Sigurd.
And on our way back we possibly mindfuck our god by saying that this world is a series of stories in our old one.

“I… cannot! Not like this!” Maria answered with a fury in her voice, “If I die here, the faithful of your Lands will fracture and shatter! Let alone I will leave Solomon to fight the beast alone! He will die without me.”

“Indeed, those are two troubling issues.” The star like god admitted with a solemness in his voice, “The god of the far east is indeed troublesome, as it will practice what it preaches against.”

“Y-you know of its identity!?”

“I do, as I am the Vanguard who watches the future.” The light answered with what Maria can only assume was a joyful smile, “That is the reason I decided to back humanity, as the future they grant us is far beyond the best I could ever foresee.”

“Th-thats right, you can foresee the future.” Maria mumbled as if shamed for not remembering that, “Will it be like mine?”

“It might, though we stand to see whether or not firearms come into existence. The world was not meant for it, as it is one that man bows to the Gods. However, it might just be the future if the remaining one declared it so.”

“That… explains a few things?”

“I hope it does.” The eye flickered for a moment as if it was looking at something else, “It seems the two have fallen into a stalemate. You have found an interesting lover, the Child of Al’Kain”

“He is… but uh.”

“I know, you have a potential other, Albert Giovanna. Maria Louise Regnia, your future of course relies on the two men. One will bring you into obscurity, though become very profitable in the venture and likely be the greatest oddity in history. The other you shall uplift and entire people and send hundreds of undeserving Gods into damnation, causing your name to be forever sung in the annals of the faithful and faithless as well.”

“So…”

“No, I will not demand you marry one over the other. While I would favor the Demi-God as it saves a majority of humanity from my brothers and sisters, your life is yours. I may be humanity's protector, but I will not shepherd what is truly a decision of free will.”

“Th-thank you.”

“Now, whoever you choose now does not influence your future. You shall face down Chyen and grant us a victory against the Changer.”

“B-but I am dead.”

“At once I was not able to do this, and it does strain on my powers. Though you have been experiencing this from time to time without even knowing, now I need to make a more egregious violation. An inch to the left, so that the heart is not consumed by fire. From there we will return.”

“Wha-”
>>
There was not even a warning as Maria’s eyes opened, as if she was alive this whole time. Her body screamed as golden light danced on her skin, healing all the mortal burns that she experienced once before.

As if, she was never dead at all.

Looking up, Maria could see the giant creature and Solomon fighting, blood of the divine dancing on the sands below. Both looked like wrecks, where the Dragon Queen had scars all up her neck and Solomon was littered with wounds that Maria was sure would kill a mortal man.

I'll be the first to admit that I am in favor of Solomon, its a lot easier to write banter between him and Maria as well as its more in her character to take the more ambitious target.

However, also understand that the 'Lord' is taking everything objectively from his point of view and it makes sense for a God to desire more followers and perform his duty.

btw public rolls aren't for GM transparency per se. IE: I don't think most care if you fudge rolls
More it's harder to tell where we are in the flow of battle.

It can be written like the fight is a struggle, but it's hard to tell if we're making progress or not.
>>
>>4559524
I personally don't give a damn if the rolls are public or not since the important part is how well you write things.
I'm guessing from the text that there's going to be consequences like the Lord being slightly weakened by resurrecting us and it being up to his faithful to protect everyone while he recuperates. Mankind rising up to protect itself and God when big G is (temporarily) out of the picture is a decent hook.

“Tsk, damn it hurts.” Maria mumbled as she prepared her spear for a moment, “Damn it, just damn it!”

The wounds on her arms continued to glow, quickly healing as she noticed all but the metal pieces of her armor had burned away. She watched as the two fought, with the Queen trying her best to snatch Solomon while the Emperor himself fought against her.

As Maria began to sprint, she watched as the creature made a wrong step, the dozens of attacks that were wrecked upon her limb were starting to bleed out. Maria did not know for how long the two have been fighting, but if their flesh is literally tearing itself under their own weight Maria was sure they were going to fall.

“PESKY HUMAN! DIE ALREADY!”

“I WON’T! DYING WILL SHAME HER DEATH!”

“To think Al’Kain created such a troublesome spawn! GRAAW!”

Maria felt a little guilty, as really she was not dead now. That this was all a reality because her God had the Authority over Time itself. Well, it does not matter, as thanks to his works the beast was going to fall today.

With a few steps forward Maria crossed the horizon, the Partisan Blade prepped as she crossed the region of destruction that the two created. Neither noticed her rise, so Maria had the perfect chance to cross the region and prepare her spear.

One step, two step, three four five! Finally enough tendons have healed that she was running at a full sprint. It hurt like the devil was in her body, but Maria did not care. She was going to kill this creature before her, to confirm her valor to the Lord and make sure that Solomon survives the battle.

Solomon was soon getting the upper hand, forcing the beast to use her maw as an attack against him. With that chance given, Maria did not even need to jump towards the creature as she finally made it to the creature.

“Damn it, just stand still you-”

“MARIA!”

She had taken the chance, taking a deep strike right into the dragon’s throat. Blood and flesh flew as the creature gave a grievous roar of pain. Maria was sure the Queen of Dragons had lost her breath weapon, and might even die to the wounds that were received today. However, the simple fact she could scream told her that the fight was still going to happen.

>Fight on the defensive, let her wear herself out
>Go for the heart, a quick finisher for sure!

As blood poured from the wound Maria watched the Queen move upwards, her entire body being stretched into the air as the monumental death scream crossed her ears. The large crash upon the earth, causing a great shake as Maria was swept under her feet by an injured Solomon.

“I thought you were dead?!” The man called out as they narrowly missed the body.

“Call it a blessing!” She called out as the tremors stopped and the queen was weakly raising herself from the ground, “My Lord, he looks out for me!”

“Glad that's true!” Solomon answered as he turned to face the Queen who was presently charging towards them, “Shit, I'm not going to outrun her!”

“Then we strike at her!” Maria called out with a fury in her voice, “Charge her chest!”

“F-FUCK!” The Demi-God called out as he quickly turned about his heel. In the next moment Maria was right on the man’s back, piggyback style as the Dictator charged towards the creature like a horse.

Spear in hand, Maria poised herself as the Miaph narrowly dodged the feet and jaws that were coming down to kill him. If she was not dying at these moments, the two of them would have probably died once again then and there. However with the numerous wounds wreathed by both Maria and Solomon, the being was unable to stop them as they arrived at her heart.

With one last push, Maria stabbed into it. The spear in her hand glowing with a Holy Light as the blood poured down upon the pair. In the next moment Maria’s vision was whittled black with blood pouring down upon them.
>>
When Maria opened her eyes again, she could feel the soft feeling of a stomach under her head. It did not take a genius to figure out who was there, and the fact they were on top of the Dragon Queen from Maria’s feeling of the scales.

“It hurts.” Maria called out as she tried to move every limb of her body.

“Just, don’t move.” Solomon’s voice answered as he confirmed Maria’s suspicions, “Its kinda painful if you try anyways.”

“How did we get up here?”

“I cut my way through the Queen.”

“Of course you did. I take it we arn’t moving from here for a while.”

“Probably not until the sun rises. Good thing is, everyone will be here by then.” Solomon answered as he pointed towards the horizon.

In their view were several beasts similar to what Maria fought, their wings carrying them into the horizon past the moon. Maria could not help but give a joyful laugh, knowing this probably meant at least a few Morseman survived the encounter and thus her Maids.

“So they should find us by morning you think?” Maria asked the Emperor.

“I hope they do, those fucks already missed the greatest fight in our lives.”

The two of them gave a small chuckle, even if it was a dumb dry joke. At this point they were worn, neither really able to move a muscle if they tried. There was a little bit of russling coming from Solomon as the man seemed to take a few deep breaths.

“I think this will be the only time we have alone from anyone, would you not agree.”

“Oh, so you are finally going to talk to me about your scheme or whatever.” Maria answered with another dry laugh, “I think you are clear though. I don’t feel sick of the other gods anymore and any spy we ever would have had is dead now.”

“Good. Good…” The man took in a deep breath as Maria looked out into the sky, “When I received your letter I was worried, but not surprised by your words.”

“So you read through the lines?”

“Accept apostasy or I will not have your hand.” The man said it in a matter of fact manner, “Though you know I cannot do it under the drop of a hat. I am the Miaph, the leader of the Theocratic Miaphate, and my right to rule comes from that.”

“So if you rejected that, you would likely be killed by the numerous Cults.”

“Without a second thought they would do that, and then either beseech Al’Kain for a new child or make one of their own Miaph. While it would risk fracturing the entire realm, they would attempt it instead of having a heretic at the head.”

“So you want my hand as a guarantee?”

“I will, as I am sure with us together we will be as victorious as we were today. Hell, we have half the problem already handled!” The man laughed as he patted the Dragon’s Corpse underneath him.
>>
“Are you willing to follow the qualifications? Before Coronation you need to prove you are educated.” Maria responded with a smirk.

“You have an idea in mind, don’t you?”

“I am sure the Pope would make an exception for you, hell, he’d probably suspend the rules for you!” Maria laughed before popping another question, “And what of my Father’s Duchy?”

“If your brother is to inherit it we shall leave it as is, but give support in both men and money as a bride price.” Solomon answered with a smile, “Of course, if for whatever reason your father decided you should inherit it shall be under our direct rule and provided ample chance to grow.”

“Alright alright, sales man.” Maria joked before her further interrogation, “And what if I want to keep my family name? Would you be willing to change yours?”

“I see no problem with it, be a fitting end to the Dynasty of Al’Kain.” Solomon answered with a solemn but mighty sigh, “I wished we spent more time before I asked you this, and I know I might still be at a disadvantage for being so late coming back. But I ask you, will you marry me?”

There was a silence as Maria began to think fast, everything Solomon said of course rang as true as the Gospel itself. He’d have to be the biggest fool in the world to actually fully convert, and the man is no fool. Maria would also bring about a revolution of men upon the world, granting probably millions of people freedom from their treacherous gods.

But Maria could not forget about Albert. While he might not be as ambitious as Solomon, Albert was Maria’s close confidant for the last few months. He has secrets and such that if get out, might ruin her reputation within the lands of Austin. However, against that, Maria can now declare herself the Dragon Slayer and Liberator of Ca’Ren from the once Pegan hordes.

Honestly there is not much in terms of value to Albert, the man cannot ever hope to match Solomon in money and power. Simply put the man gave her a couple of good dates, and helped her in schemes she kinda did force him into. It would just be her feelings for him that would make her stay with him, as otherwise she was going to be held back from the chance of a lifetime.

I rarely play this quest and this is a really big part of why. I try and trust QMs to not screw players over or be unfair but if they aren't willing to publicly roll with the rest of us and insist they are doing it with table top dice or on a better dice rolling site then they don't give 2 shits about running a game and just want to write a story for all intents and purposes. There is literally only 1 QM I trust to roll of screen and Otome QM is not JQOP.
>>
>>4560208
I was a Solomon shipper from the start. The balls of him trying to propose early in the quest and now he's getting better and better. This is perfect for Maria who enjoys intrigue and not waste her Royal Demeanor to a merchant. If Albert can do good, Solomon can do better. We can revolutionize a whole country by taking a reign side by side with Solomon power. It also gives us prestige to the religious sector for converting a whole country to our faith. This will be the weapon Maria need to stake a claim for her sainthood.

If we choose Albert like what's you can do after your travels? Bribe the church? Offer our knowledge of technology? At best, Chloe will point at us as witchcraft and everyone would agree. We don't have a safety net with Albert so I'm sorry to every Albert supporters out there

I actually think it comes to that attachment thing that always happens in DnD. Just something that happens and that DMs shrug at.

People weren't even interested in Albert as a love interest until you accidentally made him best boi. His main problem (and Solomon's biggest advantage) is that we keep on being dragged away from him by the plot since he's not allowed in on all the super classified church secrets. He'd adapt rather well to most non-combat situations whether it's negotiations, detective work, or even just being lovey dovey while showing off new additions to the armoury.
I still like the two separate routes idea. Albert can be intrigue route as we sabotage the heretical plans and Solomon can team up with the pope to have a holy/civil war against Chloe in his route.

Free will is still in the picture and respected by our god. Even just being an advisor and hanging around the Miaphate as the head of the newly reformed holy city would steer things towards at least a middle ground. We've already thrown most of the fate that was in store for us concerning Chloe off into the dumpster. I see no reason to stop making everything go off course now.

“Sorry, Solomon.” Maria answered with a solemness and tear running down her cheek, “I love another.”

There was a moment of Silence, followed by a small laugh coming from the dictator. It was an ironic one, something that can only be done by a man whose heart has been broken.

“I tried my best.” Solomon answered as the chuckle died down, “We are even now, you understand.”

“So does that make you my enemy?”

“I’m not that petty. You have given me a vision of a future to strive for and accomplished a feat that shall set that in motion. We both shall benefit from this Queens death, as I will be untouchable and you shall be the most prestigious wife to that man.”

“Good…” Maria solemnly felt her heart wrenching for the moment, “Yeah, we are even.”

With those words the sun slowly rose over the horizon, and with it their troop of people. While Maria’s maids survived, the Morse were cut down to only three men strong. However they were told that the men had the fight of their lives, and were thankful for such a glorious sendoff.

Maria and Solomon did not talk much as she left the Miaphate, only to divide up the wards and maids that they had. Dahia, because of her conversion, was to be sent with Maria while Matarid was to remain Solomon’s. Maria would admit it was the best choice.

Maria would have felt a little betrayed by the little talk, but it was likely because Solomon was still wise. He knew the best way to end a relationship with someone was to just leave them, no reason to stay about in case other feelings spawned about them.

Though as Maria was on the ship leaving the Miaphate, she wondered what his future would bring. Indeed the Loster were trying their best to get him hooked up with one of their kind, but at last she wondered if he would pick someone like that bratty, but vastly more noble and intelligent maid.

None of that really matter now though, as Maria looked upon the horizon. She could not help but get a sickening feeling as they crossed the divine border between the Miaphate and the Holy Austin Empire.

Alright, with this I can end the thread. Even if we had some Sus shit happening, I think this was one of the most popular threads I have had for this Quest. Thank you all for tuning in, and tomorrow night we will resume!

thank you QM. btw I gonna disagree with you about we being a simple footnote in history going the albert route with the happening of chloe still going on. An ongoing schism with us as a counter-reform force will make us remembered, even if not near as it would be going with the future solomon would lead us to

Like the other anon said, you could do an alternate epilogue once we have completed this route. I think it would be a good consolation for you and others who have voted differently.

So wait. We're not going to explore the ruins of our gods city, just kill a Queen Demon Beast and leave with our holy spear and a demi-god we converted?

I'm honestly interested in a Solomon AU at this point. Wouldn't mind seeing a fanfic of it. That said I have an idea of write in for what to say when we see him again to put a blush on even his old man's face provided he gets to hear it.
