You chow down on your breakfast happily with dad and Tarble, mom and Gure having finished their own meals and chatting a bit while you get through the last few bowls. While Tarble, like you, does mind his table manners better, he definitely can put back as many bowls as most of the Saiyans you know. He also keeps up conversation as he does, asking your dad, “Master Kakarot, if… you don’t mind my asking, have you attempted to learn my brother’s new form of Super Saiyan as of late?”

After finishing a bowl of rice, Goku responds, “Eh, I’ve thought about it. It sure seems strong, but actually accessing it seems tricky. Might be a while before I can properly use it.” He looks at Tarble with a curious but happy smile. “Y’ think that’s something you’d like to access?”

He shyly sinks back. “Well, if even you feel it’s a ways off for you, I’d guess it’s even further off for me. But it may be a way to ensure my world’s protected, going forward…”

“Ah, don’t sweat it! You’ve made great progress so far.” dad tells him encouragingly. “How about you, Peppa? Ever think you wanna access that Primal Super Saiyan form?”

“I want to be able to access my power without transforming. Super Saiyan is really just tapping into power that’s already there, after all. Sure it’s useful, but the higher you go with it, the more strain it can put on your body. There are ways to mitigate it, but ultimately I want to access my power without that strain.” you explain. Though… that makes you wonder. “Say, mom, how about you? I know there’s gotta be something you’ve been working towards. Wanna share with us?”

Maple smirks just a little. “Oh, I’m keeping it a bit of a secret at this point, but let’s say that… there definitely is.” Noticing that you’re all finally finishing up with your meals, mom starts getting them all ready for cleaning. “I’ll just leave it at that for now. Gotta keep some surprises, y’ know.”

You grin wide, dad getting an even more excited look on his face. “Haha! Well now I’m really curious.”

“You’ll see it soon enough, monkey boy~” mom tells him cryptically. “Oh, but keep in mind that later I will be gone for a while.”

You start to help her with the dishes. “Where you going today, mom?”

“Gonna visit your brother, and then the Supreme Kai, time willing.” she states.

Heh. Gohan, still training up in the heavens. “Give ‘em a noogie for me, mom! Keli and I have some training we still need to do.” You put away a few dishes with her. “Oh, actually… something I’ve been meaning to ask. You remember Soba, the Yardratian from the Tournament who helped us in the fight against Baby? He might be able to help us with training, I think. Think he’d be willing to help us?”

Mom taps her chin. “Hmm. Might not be a bad idea. Though take note that he might be easiest to reach if you head to Yardrat first, he’s probably off training himself, might not even be on-world at the moment.” She ponders for a moment. “I’ll help you find its location in a bit. Goku! You and Tarble need anything?”

“Nah, we’re good! Ready to go, Tarble?” dad asks excitedly.

“Yes sir!”

So, mom gives you the info you need on how to get to Yardrat, making sure to let the Yardratians know beforehand, and you head over to explain the idea to Keli. She’s actually quite intrigued by the idea, and decides to go along with it. Okay! Got that set, now just gotta focus. After you lock on, the pair of you and Keli vanish.

You both appear on the landing pad of a large building, several aliens in unique clothing standing around, some thin, with pink, wrinkled skin, some more round with green or blue skin. Several of the smaller green ones approach you. “Son Peppa! Hello, we have heard much about you. We welcome you, and your friend, here to Yardrat.”

The pair of you look around as the aliens lead you forward. The architecture does look fairly familiar,though with a bit of its own flare to it. Keli puts her hands up and behind her head. “So, where is that Soba guy right now?”

“Soba is currently undergoing some of his own training, but Pybara knows where he probably is at the moment.” the green Yardratian at the front answers.

Keli then looks down and lets out a curious “Hmm.” Bringing her hands back down, she telepathically tells you, ‘Hey, Peppa, picking up something about this guy?’

You look up at her. ‘Which one?’

Keli chuckles, and in seeming answer, asks aloud, “So one of your skills seems to be the Multi-Form technique.”

The Yardratian gives a smile of pleasant surprise. “Ah, yes, you Earthlings do know of some Spirit Control techniques.”

“How could you tell, Keli?” you question, tail swaying behind you.

“There’s a very subtle shift in how one’s Ki flows when using the multi-form. Think of it like… looking at a reflection in the mirror. It might look normal at first glance, but when you take a closer look, you’ll see things are reversed in the reflection. Crane School has been able to pick up on those irregularities, able to tell the copies apart from the real thing.” she explains calmly. “Isn’t always perfect, mind you, but if you have someone just casually walking around like this, you can pick up on it.”

“Most curious! It would seem some Earthlings are quiet adept at Spirit Control.” the Yardratian compliments, the copies returning to just the singular.

You tap your chin. “That’s the second time you’ve mentioned that. What is Spirit Control?”

“One way to explain it is as a kind of mastery of what you call ‘Ki’, your inner ‘Spirit.’ Through that, we have developed a variety of abilities, such as the Instant Transmission technique you used to arrive here. Pybara will be able to explain it best, if you wish to learn more.”

“Heh, think I just might. Especially after seeing what Soba was capable of.” you reply with a bit more excitement in your voice. “Oh, uh… noticed that most of you seem to be wearing that same outfit. There a bit of a dress code here…?” You lightly tug at your shirt.

“Well, we wouldn’t quite put it like that.” he answers. “This is our preferred look, providing comfort most of all.”

“...You wouldn’t mind if we gave that a try?” you question.

Keli raises an eyebrow. “We?”

He chuckles. “Certainly not! In fact, I could gather a few outfits in a moment…”

“Oh, that won’t be necessary.” you tell him politely, then Clothes Beam yourself one of the Yardratian outfits… in your team colors with Keli, of course. You then turn to her. “Want me to, or…?”

She rolls her eyes. “Go ahead.” You quickly get her a matching outfit as well.

“Aha! Most excellent, so you yourself have some fairly interesting skills as well, Son Peppa.”

You rub the back of your neck and grin wide. “Oh, this is something my mom taught me a while back, actually. Something she’s been able to do since she was a kid.”

Finally the three of you enter into a larger room, with a massive figure seated on the other end. One of the rounder Yardratians, with skin a shade of blue, and introduced as Pybara. He smiles pleasantly at the pair of you. “Hello, Earthlings. Welcome to our world. I hear that you are currently looking for Soba, yes?”

“Eheh, k-kinda. I felt like it might be good training for the two of us, though I guess even your non-warriors here have quite the wide variety of techniques at your disposal. This Spirit Control stuff is pretty cool… what all can you do with it?”

He gracefully steps down from his seat, surprising you by also shrinking his size. “There are many skills one can access through the right degree of Spirit Control.” He begins to teleport, then copy himself as he teleports, until finally coming to a stop in front of both you and Keli. You kinda recognize this from what mom said about Soba’s help in the fight against Baby. “Such as what you have seen so far, though also better regulation and control of one’s Spirit, the ability to heal another’s injuries, and other, more advanced techniques. Soba is currently undergoing a bout of training to learn one of them.”

“And what might that be?” Keli asks.

Pybara chuckles softly and smiles. “Something inspired by that Son Gohan’s boy, from his exorcism training with the Supreme Kai: Forced Spirit Fission.”

You and Keli both look at each other with surprise, then to Pybara. “What exactly does that entail?”

“In essence, it is an advanced technique of Spirit Control that allows one to extend such control even towards the Spirit of others. One can use it to remove energy, transfer it, gather it, and so much more. With sufficient mastery, one might even be able to separate those who were combined together in the Metamoran technique of Fusion.” he explains with a calm, pleasant tone.

“That… kinda sounds like something mom’s been able to do.” you mention. “The Samma Vaca thing she has, though that only works on evil Ki.”

The Yardratian smiles wider. “Ah, yes, I had heard about the Noble Eightfold Path before, from her student Chuu Lee. There may be some minor similarities in the fundamentals of both, though the practical application is a good deal more sophisticated in implementation. One day I may wish to meet with the ones who have use of such skills, to compare more thoroughly the differences between the two. In any case, Soba is currently attempting to learn Forced Spirit Fission. Do you still wish to meet with him?”

“You mentioned something of ‘better regulation of and control of one’s spirit,’ can you tell us a bit more about that?” you ask, a little excitement in your voice.

He nods. “Our way of teaching Spirit Control allow one to more readily access and utilize the Spirit that each individual possesses, or in terms you Earthlings might better understand, better utilize and control your Ki. One gains a better understanding of their own energy, in a way allowing their body to more efficiently utilize it in the process.”

Keli crosses her arms, now giving a curious look herself. “Sounds like some of the things Master Tien has been teaching us at the Crane School, to be honest.” You look up at her in slight surprise. “Don’t you remember, Peppa? It’s how I started the basics on the Ki lasso you helped me come up with. Precise Ki control was how I was able to shape them initially, and eventually perfect.”

“Ohhh, yeah! Huh, that makes sense.” You nod, then look to Pybara once more. “Well, we should be ready.”

“Very well.” He closes his eyes, and seems to concentrate for a moment. “He has been informed. He should be here shortly.”

A couple seconds later, a taller, more muscular Yardratian appears. “Hmm. Son Peppa, and Keli, of Earth, I presume?”

“Yes sir. Nice to finally meet ya like this!” you reply, holding your hand out. He shakes it politely.

Keli does the same after you, then asks, “Your being here means you’re willing to help us train, right?” Soba nods. “All right, let’s cut to the chase then. Where do we begin?”

“First I’d like to see some of the basics you two have. Peppa, you first. That you’ve gotten Instant Transmission to the degree that you’re able to move across space with it is no small feat, but I’d like to see how refined you are with it.” He takes a step back, crossing his arms. “Around the planet there are four copies of myself. I task you with locating each one as quickly as possible, then return here. Simple enough?”

You take in a deep breath and focus yourself… making sure to sense Soba’s energy while you do. Just to make sure. Okay, you think you’ve got it. “Yeah, let’s do this!”

“The test begins now.” Soba declares.

You place your fingers on your forehead to sense out the closest copy, teleporting to him… but also lowering your Ki as you do. You find him perched on a tall, thin spire, in perfect balance on it, appearing right in front of him. “One down!” you declare, locking on to the second. This one is hovering on a small platform, holding a massive, skyscraper-sized pillar up with one hand. You grin wide as you appear beside him. “That’s two!” Lowering your Ki just a bit more, you lock on to the next. This copy is in a mountainous area on the other side of the planet, under the starry sky, preforming slow, focused movements, moving Ki around his body. “Third! One left!” you call out, landing beside him and quickly refocusing. That was kinda tricky, but... ah! There!

The final Soba copy is more on the twilight side of the planet, around several more monstrous creatures, defending himself against them. He blocks and defends against each attack easily, and seems to be somehow sapping energy from them. Buuuut he hasn’t noticed you!~ You give him a tap on the shoulder. His head turns around in confusion. “Wait, you-?”

“Found you all! Woohoo~!” You put up a victory sign and teleport back, proudly declaring, “Easy peasy~! How was that?”

Soba rubs his chin. “Not bad at all. You have managed to locate each one in less than two seconds, but what’s more you managed to surprise me at that last one.” He chuckles softly. “And here I figured I had a good read on your Ki. Makes me wonder how you managed that.”

“That will not be necessary. I was informed you are adept enough to sense out copies from the real thing.” he comments.

She blinks. “Er… well, yeah, I can.”

“Good.” He places his fingers on his forehead, and explains, “You will be tasked with locating the original version of myself as quickly as possible. Starting… now.” He teleports behind her, but then the other four copies teleport in, all around her rapidly.

Keli gulps, but closes her eyes and starts to focus as all five continue teleporting. Within 10 seconds, her eyes open. “There!” she declares, pointing out one among the five. They stop… and Soba smiles approvingly.

“Correct.” The five return to the main one, who nods at the both of you. “You both have passed. So, what exactly are your goals in training here?”

“I’m not quite sure I follow.” Soba replies. Keli taps the side of her head, and the two are quiet for a moment. Suddenly the Yardratian’s eyes widen in surprise and even mild shock. “…A pact? In all my years, I have… rarely heard of such a thing used in quite that manner.”

Keli gets a slightly bashful look on her face, cheeks reddening. “Still, do… do you think it’s possible?”

Soba glances back to Pybara, who keeps up his pleasant smile. “I’m not sure I’m even the one who could begin to help you with such a thing. Pybara, sir, do you think you know anyone who could?”

“I say you underestimate yourself, Soba. See this as a way to expand your own horizons.” the kind, blue Yardratian responds. “While unorthodox, I can accept that her intentions in learning such a thing are pure. I would encourage it.”

Soba sighs. “Very well.”

“Getting a little lost here. What’s this about a pact…?” you ask, but then start to piece things together, recalling what Izzy mentioned about her friend Sachie. “Waaaaait, you and Melee, huh?” you ask next, tone a bit more sly. Keli blushes a bit more. Though, that still raises the question of what she’s talking about. “Well, that’s cool and all, but what are you asking specifically about that?”

She gets unusually shy and quiet. “It’s… well, from how she explained it, like having the two of us share a small amount of our Ki at all times. It helps allow her to visit Earth, when not on, er, ‘official’ business.” Keli rubs the back of her neck. “In exchange, I have a bit of her own Ki within me. I… kinda want to find a way to let that Ki grow alongside my own. As a way for the two of us to be fighting in this Tournament, even with things in the Demon Realm as hectic as they’ve been, and as a way to help her through my own training.”

You smile wide. “That’s so sweet! But… wait, would this mean you’d have access to techniques Demons use, like Spike or…?”

“I’m not completely sure?” she replies with a shrug. “It’s why I decided to ask ‘em.”

“I will do what I can to help you realize that idea, though it will not come easily for either of us.” Soba states firmly.

“I’ll work hard on my end too.” she responds adamantly.

“One more thing!” you add, raising a finger in the air, mimicing the tone of a wise cartoon uncle from a show you and Gohan liked when you were younger. “Since we’re gonna be spending a good amount of time training together, is there anything you think you’d like to exchange with me, Soba? You know, sharing some of my own skills and showing you how they work.”

He gives you a curious look. “Hmm. Perhaps. We shall go over the details through training, but the ability to hide your Ki so thoroughly has caught my interest.”

You place your hands on your hips. “That’s settled then! Let’s get this training started!”

It’s… actually rather restful. Calm. After a couple hours of nothing but silent focus, Soba finally speaks.

“Now that you have managed to calm your Spirits, you can begin learning to regulate it better.” he states. “Raise and lower your energy with each breath, keeping a slow, constant flow around your body.”

You nod, then remember some breathing techniques you’ve been taught before, and try to match raising and lowering your Ki with inhaling and exhaling. Inhale through nose, exhale through nose. Inhale through nose, exhale through mouth. Inhale mouth, exhale nose. Inhale and exhale through mouth. Finally a fine inhale through mouth, soft exhale through nose. Your Ki raises and lowers to match with it, cycling through your body… and you start to get the hang of this! Though… maybe you’re going a bit too easy on yourself. “Soba, sir?” you begin to ask.

“Yes?”

“Would it be better for me to test this while transformed? My dad and I have done a lot of training to manage our first transformations as though it were our base forms. So, maybe it would prove a bit better to try this in that. There is a bit more strain put on the body, after all.”

He seems skeptical. “I can see you feel quite confident in this. I will warn that such a task might not be as easy as you’re assuming it to be, but I will not tell prohibit you from trying this. This is your own training, after all.”

“Gotcha! Okay!” You power up and go Super Saiyan, managing to balance yourself with little issue. Now just gotta repeat what you were doing before. Breathe in, raise Ki. Breathe out, lower Ki. Breathe in through… woah, that was a bit too much. Okay, refocus. Breathe out through nose, lower Ki aaaand woah! “Woah!” You start to lose balance, your tail grabbing the spire to keep you from stumbling.

Keli snickers. “Don’t show off too hard there, Peppa.”

“I-I’m not trying to show off, honest!” you grumble, setting yourself back upright.

“Perhaps it would be better to focus in your base form, then.” Soba comments… hiding a slight “I told you so” smirk behind his hand as he rubs his chin.

You sigh and power down. “Yeah, you’re… probably right. Back to base, back to basics. It was good to know how difficult it could be, though. It’ll allow me to be better prepared for the future.”

“It is not a bad idea going forward, but attempting to rush forward with it can cause problems.” He calmly stands on one leg at the tip of his spire, hands together. “If I were to guess, while you can manage it like your base state, raising and lowering your Spirit in such a manner is something your body is only used to with more intense activity. That might be something you need to focus on.”

You calmly return to the breathing meditation and Ki circulation you were preforming previously. This time you let your tail hang limply behind you, but keep it in mind while raising and lowering your Ki. Circulating energy through your body from literal head to tail. That starts to work much better for you, and slowly but surely, each circulation gets easier and easier.

Another couple hours later, Soba relaxes a bit. “You both have maintained your balance well. You especially, Keli, have managed to regulate your Ki quite well.”

“I have had practice, if not quite using this method.” she responds.

“And in spite of your attempt to rush forward, you have regained your composure and managed your Spirit well, Son Peppa.” Soba then skillfully and almost gracefully leaps from one spire to the next. “Your next step will be this: Follow me across 10 spires, maintaining this flow of Spirit through your bodies as you do.”

Huh. That doesn’t seem too hard.

You start to follow after, but as you do, you telepathically contact Keli in midair. ‘Let’s try to match one another as we head forward. Slow but steady?’

‘Slow but steady.’ She leaps with you, matching the flow. Her Ki raises as she leaps, and lowers as she lands, kinda taking off strong, landing soft. She’s definitely had practice doing this kind of thing.

You manage it well initially, though you need a bit more effort to than you wanted it to take. Still, you don’t let up, watching your breathing, raising and lowering your Ki in sync with Keli. Leap, land. Leap, land. Leap, land. Leap, land. Yeah… yeah! You’re doing it! Halfway there!

‘You’re keeping up well, Peppa.’ Keli compliments, moving through the air with skill and grace.

‘Me nothing, you’re acing this!’ you reply, getting a little excited. Two left.

‘I’ve had the practice for it. But you’re keeping up, and that’s what’s important.’ She leaps again. One left. Keli makes one last leap, and lands with a one-legged crane stance. You don’t quite make it as fancy with your last leap, but you manage it and manage to keep pace with Keli.

Soba crosses his arms and smiles proudly. “Well done. You have managed that not only with fines, but coordination.”

Keli bows. “Master Tien has taught me well, and Peppa’s pretty clever on her own.” She resumes a more neutral, balanced stance. “What next?”

“Ultimately, you both should be able to manage 1,000 times what you were able to accomplish just now.” he states. “But I will not have you do this now. Instead, I would like the both of you to power up as high as you can go, but still maintain this balance within yourselves. Keep this flow, but power up as high as you can without losing it.”

You place your hands together and focus, starting to raise your Ki higher and higher with each cycle. Raise, lower. Raise more, lower. In fact, as you do this, you also lower it enough to be barely undetectable. Okay, one more time. You raise your Ki to its full extent in your base form, your aura flowing around you.

Soba nods. “You’re getting quicker with it. Good. And I think I’m starting to see how you’re managing to lower your energy to that degree.”

“Hold on a second. I’m not quite done.” You start to push past your base, tapping into Super Saiyan and transforming. Up… and down. You keep focus, managing yourself better this time, yet still showing you can power down just as much as in your base state, almost giving off no energy at all.

“Ahh, I see now.” the Yardratian comments. “This is quite an impressive trick, Son Peppa. You have better understanding of the basics than I’d thought.” He himself then mimics how you’ve raised and lowered your Ki, lowering his own much like you have.

Okay, see how high you can push this! Your aura sparks and flares up higher, hair spiking up more, as you transform into Super Saiyan 2, and… and suddenly it becomes significantly more difficult. Reflexively you keep trying to power up, but you lose the rhythm you were maintaining. You’re able to regain just a little, though, and even push into Super Saiyan 3, for a brief moment actually maintaining this, even as you start to push past its limits! …And just as readily you do it, you realize you can’t keep this up else you’ll fall. Or probably poke yourself in the butt on the spire. Ow. With one loud exhale, you power back down. “Well… that was an attempt. You did see the natural limit of my forms, if briefly.”

He chuckles. “Indeed. Your power is most certainly undeniably impressive. But it will take time for you to truly master your Spirit to the degree you wish.”

“Still, this gives me a better visualization of my goal.” you reply. “Thank you, Soba.”

“Indeed. While faint, I can sense the shared energy of your Pact, harmonizing with your own. It is faint, but it is there. With time, you may indeed be able to allow it to grow alongside you.”

You decide you need to get done with this sooner or later. After school one day, you talk with mom about this. “So, you finally feel you should give this a try?”

Maple nods. “All righty! I’ll be honest, it took a bit to kinda vet out some for this. Not a lot of folks are really qualified to handle things like what we all have been through. Your school counselors have been good so far, but this might be a bit more involved. Trip has been a huge help for myself and Chi-chi, and even Tien and Krillin, but I figured this might need a bit more down to Earth. And of those… well, some had to turn me down, one turned out to be working for Towa, and another was kinda… skeevy.” Mom shudders. “I did find one that fits well, though she’s a tad… quirky.”

You blink. “Quirky good, or quirky bad?”

Mom chuckles to herself. “I’d say mostly good. She certainly knew her stuff. You’ll… see when we get there.

The following day, you arrive at a kinda quaint little office near the edge of Central City. Entering with mom, you see a little imp man at a desk, kinda looking like a younger Pilaf, look up at you. “Name and appointm- oh! Maple Son-Mahogany, hello again. And this must be your daughter, Earth’s cuttent Champion.” He smiles politely.

“Yo! Nice to see ya Biryani.” mom greets, you moving forward smiling back at him. “Hope we’re not too early.”

“Not at all. Miss Chansu just finished her last appointment about 10 minutes ago. I’ll let her know…”

You’re welcomed in and at first the office seems a bit normal, with a few degrees and pictures on the walls, full bookshelves, a little sofa, though as you approach the desk, you see… not exactly what you were expecting.

“Peppa, this is Chansu. She’s one of Central City’s most decorated therapists.” mom tells you.

You. Can’t help but give a little hesitant and uneasy laugh, almost reflexively. “Nice… to meet you?”

Mom leans in closer and whispers, “I know she might not look it, but she’s good, trust me. I’ll be in Central City today, so just give me a call when you’re done.” She pats you on the shoulder and walks out. “See you in a while, sweetie.”

And mom’s gone. You turn back to look face this lady, a confident smile, almost a smirk, on her face. “So, how about we get started?” She sits up straighter, getting out a notebook. “We don’t have to get right down to any things that’ve been bothering you, if you’d like. But please, feel free to tell me a bit about yourself, hehe~”

Yeah. M2. And… that’s not all. You gulp slightly, blushing and turning your head. “…Realizing I like girls and ending up with a girlfriend.”

“Well, I’d certainly heard about some of those.” Chansu comments, dutifully writing away. “Quiet a bit of gossip around your relationships. And of course, the Tournaments and alien invasions, a few weeks ago one of my clients was even one of the literal living dead.”

You let out a quick laugh. “R-really? You were… working during that?”

She winks. “I know you’ve still got a look on your face of ‘she doesn’t look the part,’ but trust me, kiddo, I’m a professional. I take all my clients seriously. Be they a kauji going through rehab or King Furry himself.”

You flinch. “S-sorry…”

“Oh it’s fiiiiine~!” She waves her hand. “Took that spook by surprise too. Tiger thief guy who’d passed a long time ago, but never really got the closure he needed, y’ know? That was most of my day during that incident. That and a cheeky breakfast-for-dinner deal at my favorite restaurant.” She does a little fist pump as she recalls that. “Scooore~”

It’s… starting to become clear why mom suggested her. You let your tail rest on your lap. “I guess… something that’s still bothering me is something that happened while I was in space. We were trying to locate the home world of Giru, an alien robot that came here earlier in the year, especially since he had data on, well, the two races I am. Tuffle and Saiyan.” Your tail gives a little wave of hello. “The problem was that he ended up connected to… incidents on various worlds. Not the cause, but a connection to them all.”

“Do you want to describe the incidents right now?” Chansu asks.

You give a quick nod. “They were infections by nanomachines made by his people, that could cause all sorts of problems. Tissue damage commonly, but it could extend to restructuring one’s whole body. Many aliens we’d encountered were victims of it, and more often than not there was some kind of silvery sheen to them.” You look down, twiddling your thumbs. “…Even the thought of it now is kinda putting me on edge.”

She nods, writing down some more. “What else do you feel comfortable about telling me about it?”

Peppa could use some Slime Therapy!

She might have a phobia of getting old like her cousin does, only instead of a golden girl, in her case she'd become... a silverback!

Maybe some exposure or accompaniance could do Peppa well, like having Cocoa apply silver bodypaint while sunbathing, or having a spa day with silver mud, with Cocoa holding her hand. Might need replacement hand on deck for Cocoa.

And okay, things going better today, in spite of the weather making people down here crazy again. We are back!

Chansu twirls her pen around her fingers once you finish. “Any moments that stick out in your mind?”

“Well… when we arrived on Imecka, we ended up in a trap that led to myself and my friend Videl getting infected briefly. Giru was able to undo the damage, but it was a pretty quick scare.” You glance at your arm, recalling when that happened. You go over a few more incidents like that, explaining what you’d seen on Tech-Tech, on the fake brench, on the Luud cult’s planet, Anesidora during your date with Cocoa, M2… which brings you finally to the thing responsible for all of this. Baby. “Even after the virus, it still managed to survive, and then attacked us. And it… it knew my name. It was targeting me. I fought it off and thought I’d managed to destroy it.” You shake your head. “I didn’t. Baby was still alive.”

“While I do remember quiiiite a bit of when that thing was here on Earth, I’m sure you’ve got a lot more to say on it.” Chansu states.

“Um… well, what do you remember of it?” you ask.

“Like it was this suuuuuper annoying little nagging voice in my head that was trying to redirect all my thoughts to do what it wanted. Did try to talk back to it. A lot.” She leans closer. “I don’t think it liked me very much, to be honest.”

That deflates a bit of the tension you felt building up inside you as you chuckle softly. “But… yeah, I didn’t manage to stop it. And while we made it off that planet, we still had to stop the one who was helping him, Basilea.” You sigh. “Baby would keep contacting me, taunting me, acting like he was haunting me… or just waiting until the right moment to take over. And he wasn’t the only one. Basilea was doing it too. It… kept like that up until mom got hit by the nanomachines herself, along with Pantea. They made it seem like I had some influence on them, due to Baby’s survival.”

You exhale deeply. “There is a lot to say.”

“You can begin with whatever you feel comfortable talking about.”

Sensible. You explain mostly how she relates to this whole excursion into space, and her attempt to gather up the Black Star Dragon Balls. How she’d caused so much chaos and trouble for so many worlds… and some of the reasons she’d done it. “In, she… I guess everything she was doing was to try and prove herself to her aunt. To show that she was capable, to show she wasn’t weak, to show she was deserving of eventually inheriting the throne she was claimant to.”

Chansu unwraps a red lollipop and holds it between her pinky and ring fingers. “In spite of what she’s done, you still seem to feel bad for her. There’s also what sounds like a familiarity between you and her that extends beyond just this. Do you want to tell me more about that?” she asks, popping the lollipop in her mouth. There’s a beat as she notices you staring at it, then pulls it out. “Oh, want one?”

You take it with your tail… and telepathically remove the wrapper, observing it to be purple in color, with a darker center. You then pop it into your mouth. Oh huh, it’s like a mix of blackberry and raspberry… “Boysenberry?”

“Yep!” she confirms. “With a little chocolaty center. Still don’t know how many licks it takes to get there, never made it without biting eventually.”

“I think around… 200? Maybe 300 if you’re trying to go around it all.” you reply, not at all implying you’ve done those tests yourself, no siree. Definitely not racing with Gohan to try and see who could get to the center faster. That was most certainly not a thing you did. Nope. Not at all.

Chansu snaps her fingers. “That owl was way off…”

You giggle again, easing a bit. “Okay. I guess… I do feel bad for her, to be honest. She was… never really ever in control of her own life, and is still trying to handle the trauma she went through. Trauma she’s kinda turned on others, possibly as an outlet.” After a beat to get a bit more of the lollipop, you telekinetically pull it out of your mouth and hold it with your tail. “She’s kinda popped up in my life a few times, to be honest.”

“What do you want to tell me about that?” she questions, not at all phased by the displays of telekinesis.

“There is… a lot.” you exhale. “A lot, and it’s extra complicated.”

She smiles kindly. “I’ve got the time. Try me.”

Well. Here goes. “It all started way, way back when I first entered the Junior Division of the World Martial Arts Tournament…” You tell her about the first encounter with Basilea, how she’d brutally beaten Videl, how she was dismissive of you during your match, and how you’d handily beaten her to prove her wrong. Basilea’s superiority complex wounded, and the girl desiring to get back at you. Meeting her again before the Ozotto fight, during Dr. Raichi’s attack and how Pantea and Videl beat her, and finally again at the most recent Tournament. Then… you finally bring in how she’s not from this timeline, and the… complicated relationship she had with your future self.

“So you think her antagonism came down to how she viewed your counterpart?” Chansu questions.

You nod. “In a way, maybe her attempts to get back at me were also because of how she was told to behave to the… other me. And unlike how I turned out, that other me kinda… turned to hate her.” You rub the side of your head. “Maybe she was reflecting some of the worst parts of her, er, me, er… eh. Time travel. Just… trying to repay what she felt just as much as she was trying to win Towa’s approval. From the encounter I had with my counterpart, the feeling was pretty mutual.”

You smile shyly. “I’d like to hope so.”

There’s a soft crunch followed by a “Dang it, again!” as she bites through her lollipop. She pulls the remaining half out of her mouth as she finishes chewing the half she was given. “Well, we still have a bit of time left. What else do you feel you’d like to bring up?”

You… get real quiet for a moment. It has been on your mind for quite a while, even if you’ve found ways to keep it from coming to the forefront. “My… brother Gohan was here on Earth still when Baby made his initial attack. He worked to fight off the alien menace, but more importantly to save people from falling under his control. If… if it weren’t for him, we’d probably not have been able to stop Baby as quickly as we did… might not have been able to stop him at all.” Looking down, you need another moment of quiet. “…But Baby still got him. Still managed to infect him and tried to take control. Gohan… had only one thing he could do to prevent that. To keep Baby from using him against his friends and family. He… he sacrificed himself, trying to take Baby with him.”

There’s a more serious look in Chansu’s eyes as you say this, but she doesn’t really change much from what she was doing prior. But she does end up asking, “I doubt I can even begin to imagine how hard that must have been. How did you learn of it?”

“Baby taunted me about it. About taking control. About how soon I’d join him… and then Gohan contacted me himself.” Your hands grab at the edges of your shorts. “To say goodbye. I… I snapped. There were times when I’d felt anger before, a furious, blazing rage that empowered me and made me stronger, but this was beyond that. I… I was so angry I started to lose control. And I… I did kinda took it out on Basilea and her allies. This was at the same time they’d taken Videl and I…” You shake your head.

Chansu nods. “From what I’m hearing, you feel like you’re responsible for this, no?”

>A. Yeah… I do. I keep getting told that it’s not, but deep down I still feel I am

Huh, nice. “If I were a guessing girl, I’d say that took quite a bit to finally say… but you’ve also been wanting to say it for a while, huh?” She twirls her pen.

“...Yeah. Finally got that off my chest.” You exhale and feel like you’re letting go of 10,000 kilogram weights as you do. “Heh. Guess it is kinda weird, since I’m… definitely the older twin now.” You look up, wondering aloud, “Can people get older when they’re dead?”

“Not in my experience.” Chansu answers like you were actually asking her. “But you’ll meet him again some day, yeah?”

You nod. “Some day soon, hopefully.” Sitting up a bit, you hold your hands together, holding the candy with telekinesis. “And… I guess there’s one more thing this has taught me. I can’t save everyone, not on my own, and sometimes not at all. No matter how strong, or skilled, or smart, or knowledgeable I become, people will die and I won’t be able to change that. It’s a truth I need to come to terms with, but it hurts. Gohan… Gohan dying turned that from just an idea, to a reality.”

Chansu smiles kindly. “It is a part of life, for sure. And as much as you’ve thought through this, I feel you’ve still got to give yourself time to adjust. Additionally, it might be good to talk with family, even friends about how you feel. You were able to open up quite a lot today to me…” She… spins around in her chair a little childishly, causing you to giggle again. “So for your next step, I’d recommend talking with them a bit.”

“Yeah… yeah. I think I might do just that.” You smile brightly. “Thank you, Miss Chansu.”

She claps her hands together. “Any time. If you wish to continue meeting with me, just let my assistant know. Take care, Peppa.”

I really am enjoying the mental, spiritual and physical growth that Peppa has gotten as a character. Confronting internal conflicts by actively asking for help instead of just trying to push through sheer will-power and a positive attitude. Learning to deal with these negative emotions and learning how to channel them the correct ways.

“I mean I’m good pretty much now. I can start sensing his Ki out.” you tell her, placing your fingers on your forehead.

She nods and turns back. You can’t help but grin a little. Izzy raises an eyebrow. “What?”

It takes a bit longer to really get a read, but… aha, there! Hard to really describe where he is in relation to you all other than “upwards” but hey. Aaaand… telepathically, you contact ‘em real quick. ‘Hey bro, duck!’

‘Wha-? Where?’ You teleport away and appear in front of him, giving a quick poke on his forehead once you appear. He stumbles back a bit, surprised. “…Peppa? Izzy?”

Recovering quickly from the initial shock, Gohan simply remarks, “Buu, lemon drops.” A pink beam hits the glitter bomb and turns it into a bag full of little yellow lemon candies that- DID HE SAY BUU?!

A little pink chubby creature, about waist height, catches the bag, opening it up and taking a few out and munching on them. “Hi. You Gohan’s friends too?” the creature asks.

“This is my twin sister Peppa, and our cousin Izzy.” Gohan tells the creature. “Girls, this is Majin Buu. Or, well, the good we were able to extract out of the bigger Buu.”

“Hello!” Buu greets, waving, then munching on more lemon drops.

“What are you even doing here?” your brother asks.

You hold your arms out. “Gohan. Awkward sibling hug?”

He laughs. “Okay. Awkward sibling hug.”

The two of you quickly embrace, then make tense faces, patting each other on the back with a “PAT, PAT.” Okay, okay, that’s enough. The two of you gently shove back against each other and laugh. “Hahaha, missed you, bro.”

“Gee, couldn’t tell.” he responds sarcastically. Buu looks up at him, munching on more candy.

“Guess there is… a lot for us to catch up on.” you comment as you glance at the Majin. Hokay. Might need to speed this along. Telepathically you all start sharing everything you all have been through, Gohan kinda walking you all across the grassy field he was on. Buu also offers Gohan one of the lemon drops… and you get a little curious, politely asking for one as well. Oh. Oh wow! They’re really good! Strongly sour, which you like, but also very sweet.

Getting mostly caught on, Gohan finally brings you to the person he was heading towards, an older man that kinda reminds you of grandpa Roshi, though with a bit more of a “cool cat” vibe to him with big sunglasses and denim vest and the like, strumming a guitar. He looks up and seems… rather curious about the appearance of you and Izzy, though not surprised. Gohan greets him casually. “Hey Grand Kai!”

“Hey kiddo! Looks like you got some visitors.” he notes, tuning the instrument a bit.

“Grand Kai, huh?” Izzy asks with a slight dismissive hint in her voice.

“Yeah, he’s been my teacher in guitar lessons.” Gohan explains.

Your cousin raises an eyebrow. “You’re getting guitar lessons from a god.”

“Yeah, you know, after winning the Tournament.” he states, then giving you a sly look. “You might be the Strongest Under the Heavens, sis, but up here? I’m the Champ of the Heavens.”

You place your hands on your hips as you hear the declaration. “Oh are ya now? And what’s that mean exactly?”

“Means I’m technically higher rank than you.” he states cheekily. You headlock him and noogie gently, causing your brother to laugh.

As you do, Izzy scoots over and asks Grand Kai, “Say, you’re cool with us being here, right?”

“Some Kais take exception to the living popping up here, but me? Hah, I’ve heard plenty about you folks already, and it doesn’t hurt to have some more lively visitors once in a while, ya dig?”

Your cousin nods approvingly. “Okay yeah, yeah, I dig.”

Grand Kai smiles and plays a little tune as you finally let go of your brother, Gohan still telepathically catching you both up on what he’s been doing. Which… wow. It’s a lot. Not just winning the Tournament, not just stopping this Janemba thing, but defeating Majin Buu, saving the goodness inside him, and even getting your paternal grandpa a new gig as a guardian of Hell with his old squad. It… honestly fills you with pride to hear all this. Gohan’s been doing great up here.

That said… “So, you really do think you’re top dog up here, huh?”

“Wouldn’t put it quiiiite like that. I’m still working on improving.” he responds.

“Think you’d be up to a spar?” you ask. “I’ve been meaning to test myself again. Still want to try fighting Vegeta eventually, especially with the Tag Tournament coming up-”

Gohan flinches and snaps his fingers. “Ah dang, that’s still going on huh? Guess you and Videl are probably completely in sync now…”

“Actually, I teamed up with Keli for it.” you tell him, placing your hands behind your back. “We’ve even got a team uniform and everything.”

Izzy then slides in with a smirk on her face. “Meanwhile Pantea and I have decided to team up. You snooze you lose, Gohan. You’ll just have to cheer on while your crush and I dominate this thing, ooh yeah~!”

He, instead of grumbling about that remark, raises an eyebrow. “Well. You two might actually have a shot then.”

Izzy’s eyes narrow. “What’s that supposed to mean, ‘might?’”

He stretches his arms and legs. “I’m sure she’s already shown you a bit of it, but she’s gotten way, way stronger than before. I’d say you’ve got good odds now.”

“Don’t you be talkin’ like I’m an accessory.” she grumbles.

You get what he’s doing. “You wanna test out how strong the two of us have gotten, huh? Well okay, bring it on, bro!”
