You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", one of U.A. High's top first-year students, exercise enthusiast and if your attempts at thinking before speaking have had any success, an all-around pleasant gal.

Trying to be friendly and stay in top shape, it was only natural to try and do both at once by going for a jog with Iida. It went… less than spectacularly, but most of it wasn't your fault this time! Along with helping Iida to see most of it wasn’t his fault either, you see the day as an overall win. Especially when it came to learning from your classmate what to expect from a surprise you encountered earlier that morning: a sponsored trip to I-Island . As for the extra tickets you have for the occasion, you had the notion to give them to-

"<-Mei and Pony. Would that be okay?>" You finish, looking straight on at the camera on your laptop and giving the cutest, most innocent expression you can muster. Usually, you would have disdain for such overt acts of emotional manipulation and anyone abusing it, but this is different. It’s your Pa afterall.

>"<...Of course it is, darlin’, it'd be nice to personally meet some of your friends... But just who are this Mei and... Pony?>" Your Pa asks on screen, his calm smile revealing that even though the question seems silly to him, he would answer it again just to talk with you. He exhales while running his big oaken hand across his buzzed hair. "<Gotta admit though, Ah was kinda worried you were gonna ask for that… what was Endeavor's kid named again... Shoto was it?>"

"<Oh, Ah did! Momo too! Well kinda, both of them already had tickets. Not a big surprise, but Ah had to check.>" You explain, pointing at the ceiling and waving your hands about. The habit seemingly stuck with you from your afternoon with Iida all the way into the late evening. "<...Wait, worried? 'bout Shoto? Wha->"

>"<Yeah, hun! Don't worry 'bout such things! Shoto an' Ushi have been really good pals for some time and for better or worse, ain't no takin' that back now.>" Your Momma interrupts from her seat behind you as she leans forward again for a better look at the camera and screen.

After dinner and making sure Angus had gone to sleep, you finally joined your surprisingly impatient mom in calling Pa that night. Or as he likes to call it, his ‘first coffee break’. Considering how she’s been leading the conversation nearly the whole time before you finally eked out the request, you guess she never really did come back down from the news about I-Island. Her tail hasn’t stopped whipping about and this isn’t the first time during the call that her chest presses your head against your shoulder with its weight, almost pushing you on to your side. At least it's soft.

>"<He's a Todoroki to boot, hun. He oughta know how to ‘treat’~ a gal with respect.>" Your Momma matter-of-factly points out.

Knowing what you do, it's hard not to respond with a growl at that. You don't have to fight the instinct much though, being muffled and all.

>"<Huh. Well, hopefully that boy, Iida, that you mentioned passes muster with you as well, Kat.> Your Pa grouses before returning his attention to you. "Not feeling too keen on all this datin' you have goin' on, darlin. Don't you think you should at least introduce them to your old man?>" He teases while giving you a look that you have long known to mean he's equally serious. It gets you riled up all the same.

"<Pa! For the last damn time, it wasn’t a date! Non- almost none of them were!" You loudly groan after fighting for some breathing space that was still in frame, ready to make your living room a sauna from the steam starting to come off you. From your quirk or your embarrassment, or both, it wasn’t really clear. And so you protest further, grumbling, "<And the one that was didn't even go anywhere.>"

>"<I don’t know hun, from how you spoke of it, Iida seemed to react like it was one, no?"> Momma chuckles openly.

You’re not quite sure about your mom’s logic, but the way Iida sped off in much the same way that you met up with him upon returning to UA’s gates was pretty suspect. All you did was thank him formally for the meal and the good time you had jogging and hope he enjoyed it too. He seemed like he was going to do the same when he went just about slack-jawed and blasted off. You are almost certain he even used a recipro-burst considering KT1078 put up the security gate and sounded off a warning klaxon in response...

>"<Poor boy must have noticed he had you all by his lonesome. From how rigid he sounded, I bet he needed some personal time before losing control~.>" She continues, referring to your earlier re-telling of your day out before turning to Pa and snickering like someone half her age.

"<Not you too! You should know Ah've barely ever seen him more relaxed than today! Ah’ve made major progress! You saw how stiff he was at the roof barbeque!>" You retort, getting Pa to choke on his coffee for a few seconds. "Ah know, kinda impressive, right?"

>"<Ah guess some things don't just go away in a few months.>" Your Pa mutters, his face oddly downcast while catching his breath and cleaning the ring of his mug. He turns his gaze upward to give hopeful eyes to your mom through the screen. "Or do they?..."

>"<Nope. She still does it, just less.>" Your Mom replies, her tone flat.

"<Whatcha talkin' 'bout?>"

>"<Haven’t you been listening, darlin’? Your date with the rich kid from that Japanese hero family! Heh, or was it the other one?>" Your Pa continues ribbing.

"<The one with glasse-wait, no! Not-a-date!>" You answer desperately.

>"<I don’t know..., Kat?>"

"Mama, please..." Your japanese slips in, dreading what you know is about to happen.

>"<Oh, almost certainly a date.>"

"<Noo…>"

>"With a time and place to meet?"

>"<‘yuuup>"

"<Who doesn’t?! We were bo->"

>"<Then a stroll through the park?>"

>"<Was a beautiful day, Johna-tan.>"

"<We were trai->", you nearly sob.

>"<Followed by a meal! He paid, of course.>"

>"<Fine dining! How romantic, Ushi.">

"<IT WAS CHICKEN ON A STICK!>" You yell before you clasp your mouth with your hand, regretting it immediately. Not for your parents, but because it might have woken up your little cousin. For their part, they burst out laughing, a joyful chorus that you had missed and would have loved to listen to or even join in, had it not been at your expense.

You pout and try to move away but Momma pulls you into a hug before you can make your escape, robbing you of your teenage right to go slam the door and be flustered and upset in your room for the rest of the night. Instead, caught up in their good mood, you eventually end up silently giggling along in her embrace.

"<If we could please get back on topic,... it's settled then, right? Ah can use mah personal ticket to bring another of mah pals?>" You ask as soon you get ahold of yourself and manage to scoot out of the mountain range smothering you and the screen, along with putting your best doe-eyed expression back on. "<Both Pony and Mei would love to see up close all the robotic stuff y'all're settin' up for the expo!>"

>"<Glad to hear it! You shoul- Heh, y’all will see it! Everyone here's bustin' their backs to put on one hell of a show for the attendees! Even though we have auto-lifts and cranes for all the heavy lifting... Really, Ah'm surprised OSHA hasn't made a surprise visit yet.>" Your Pa rambles on for a moment, scratching at his beard in puzzlement. "<Now where was I… Right… Ah still got not much of a clue who these people are, nor why y’all call that gal Pony. Ah’m not up to hosting complete strangers on this occasion.>"

"<It's her name! Pony Tsunotori. Met her on mah first day, we’ve studied together, broke bread together and even assembled gunpla together! and she remembered to open the windows.>" You explain, explicitly bringing up the miniatures glue spiel, knowing your Pa would associate that with responsibility. You also take care to keep any drug related trivia to yourself for the same reason. "<She's a hafu like me, from Cali. Ah think she'll like the taste of home.>"

>"<...Sorry, did you say her name's actually ‘Pony’?>" Your Pa asks, apparently missing out on everything else said after. "<Tell me darlin', does this gal look anythin' like her namesake?>"

"<Well, yeah. Hoofsies, snoot, large eyes, swishy tail, the works. Cute as a button.>" You explain, then lower your voice and sigh as you feel the need to mention her most striking feature. "<Also not as much the namesake, but got a pair 'o horns larger than her torso and it just ain’t fair…We fought each other at the sports festival! Don’t you remember?>"

>"<Would you look at that, Kat.>" Your Pa trumpets while ignoring your question, voice dripping with self-satisfaction. "<Another American gal with a cute name. Ah bet Mr. Tsunotori isn't getting chewed out for it for sixteen years on end.>"

>"Johnatan, I truly don't care how anyone else did, you still should have waited to ask. Newborns can go without a name for a few days." Your Momma replies, completely serious and completely in Japanese.

>"<Ah got enough out of that to drop it.>" Your Pa admits with a snappy nod before turning his attention back to you. "<And Mei? Ah think you've mentioned that name a few times.>"

"<'yuup! Mei Hatsume. She's the one that rebuilt Tin! Like two or three times by now.>" You tell him, your excitement capped by the memories of your robotic friend getting improperly or partially disassembled on the battlefield. It has never seemed to mind, but you do. "<She's from the Support Class at school, first year as well. Power Loader and Firewire, teacher and upperclassman by the way, say she's both brilliant and missing a couple screws. Can’t help but agree. Ah think if you asked her, she'd tell you she took them out and welded it all back together for structural integrity or sumthin' like that.>"

>"<Oh right, Tin. How's the little fella doing? Has it gone cuckoo yet or did you wipe its memory? Ah’ll tell ya, ghostin's fun until a surveillance robot's newfangled personality gets into its mind that the way to improve infrastructure security is to download every season of every nation’s version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' into your server hub and everything stops working for nearly two weeks.>" Your Pa asks, his tone making you think his example was not merely fabricated.

"<Ah… Ain't too keen on brain-scrubbin' mah friends, you know? Even if Ah wanted to, it's been workin' great so far!>" You tell him, thinking about Tin’s recent impromptu encounter with zombies but deciding against bringing it up.

Speaking of the currently small robot, you reach across the kotatsu and pick it up just as it treads by on its way back to your room following getting dinner's dishes into the washer. Reminded of the age-old robot maid stereotype, you have repeatedly emphasized to Tin that it doesn’t have to do menial tasks, but Momma sure hasn’t minded the extra pair of helping hands and tail. Particularly tonight, where she was more than a little preoccupied.

"Tell 'em sugah! Stand up for yourself and your, ugh… mamma. She’s got more lights upstairs than most doesn’t she!" You prompt your mechanical friend as you hold it in front of the camera in much the same way anyone else would present a cat. "And most of them are workin'!"

>"Hello again, Forerunner. While Mamma’s composition contains more than the normative trace amounts of iron and magnesium, I must correct Mistress in that she does not contain any light fixtures, as those are external adornments. In addition, her synaptic activity is assuredly above average." Tin states turning in your hands to have his ‘face’ at the screen while its tail lifts to address you.

"Assuredly?" You flatly ask its limb. Following the sandbagging it just gave you in front of your parents, you feel obligated to reciprocate.

>"I was provided many files by Mamma during my time in the box, some of them being personal files that had been submitted as updated information." Tin explains, the coordinated movement of its hands, head and tail making you consider the possibility of it being a better public speaker than you. "However, the main system had flagged them as altered and unchecked by administrators."

>"Altered?" Ma re-enters the conversation. "By whom?”

>"Correct Matriarch, altered by local user 'hatsume_M'. Fields changed within the same time frame include commentary added to ‘psych evaluation’ table along with various changes in measurement values utilized in ordering female UA uniforms and costume bids. Increases in-"

"<-Okay! Thank you, sugah!>" You interrupt it before it says something to really make Pa second guess your choice of friends. “<As you heard Pa, she has a real nose for all this and it would be a real shame to keep her out of the expo. It’d be like her natural habitat!>" You try to reassure him, acting like you had heard all of that before.

>"<Darlin’, the only parts Ah was quick enough to gather in all that were her name, ‘above average’, ‘assuredly’, ‘altered’, some form of ‘measure’, and ‘female" he clarifies, clearly amused. "Ah’ll take your word that she’s a good fit. Always glad to help a fellow gearhead along. Now speaking on that first one Ah heard, the name Hatsume, it does ring a bell for me for some reason...hmmm." Pa looks up and away from the camera in thought for a moment.

<"Wait, You’ve met a relative of hers? ...Ah mean, Ah can see her havin' renowned family members in the field..."> You muse out loud, wondering if she's yet another one of your friends with a legacy to live up to.

>"<There's only one bell~ you oughta be ringing.> You mom’s tail whips in double time.

>"<N-nevermind that, Ushi, it's just that Ah've heard the name is all. Uh... probably the same gal! It wouldn't be at all rare for a U.A. kid to leave an impression on the technicians ‘round here after the Sports Festival. Water cooler talk, ya...>" Your Pa interjects, waving his hands in front of the camera once more before hurriedly answering, "<Anyways, Ah think Ah’ve got enough to feel comfortable about it all now. Like Ah said, it’s alright by me to bring Mei and Pony. Ah look forward to meeting them!>”

You barely have time to raise your arms over your head in triumph before he gabs in a similarly quick manner.

“<Tomorrow's a school day, ain't it? Ah reckon Ah’ve kept you up long enough, right? Why don't you head to bed and rest sweetie. Your Ma and I'll be just taking some minutes to coordinate the trip, hammer out the details->"

>"<And kinks~>" Your Ma confirms simultaneously, her tail twitching in sync while her gaze is glued to the screen of your dad.

>"<-And a few other things!>" Your Pa replies with a strained voice before covering a sudden coughing fit. "<Pardon… So yeah! Bed! And get ready to take on the world again tomorrow sweetie! Hopefully this time with less bullet damage, heh! Ah'll see you soon!>"

"<...See ya soon, Pa. Enjoy your coffee break.>" You thank him while blowing a kiss before standing up and taking your robot with you to your room.

>”<Speaking of, haven't you missed our coffee breaks~? I know I've missed the cream~>” You hear Momma ask Pa before getting out of earshot. Weird, you thought Momma was all about teas...

Leaving them to their boring adult talks on beverages, you carefully go upstairs to your room to get silently ready for bed, trying not to disturb your little cousin Angus' sleep any further.

Having had a rather rude awakening followed by a rushed outfit change at mid-day, it doesn't surprise you to find you left your room in a bit of a mess. A bed upside-down and nightstand-toppled kind of mess that you have to quietly clean up and set upright before you can finally get some rest, chatting in hushed tones with your robot as you put it all back together.

"-And now you are gonna help me with mah alarm cuz Ah've not seen mah dang clock since momma flipped the bed in the mornin' 'n' Ah'm not gonna spend another hour lookin' for it." You finish telling Tin your plans for tomorrow as you hop under your covers. Despite not being as exhausted as yesterday, you’ve been up long enough to see both ends of the sun along with getting a jog in and rearranging your room with the help of your quirk. All despite your massive and still healing bruise.

Thus when Tin woke you up in the morning with rhythmic nudges of its tail, you were a bit mystified that nothing really hurt, your bruise barely bothering you in the shower, and not at all on the way to U.A., letting you enter the school grounds feeling confident that as long as nothing put pressure on your chest, everything would be okay.

You entered Classroom 1-A fully expecting Mina to continue where she left off in poking fun at the personal time you spent with Shoto and Momo after the practical exam. Instead, the only poking involving you going on was Mina’s nose and horns against your uniform as you consoled her. While you stood there patting and cringing, one part in sympathy and another in pain, you were doubly glad to have remembered to apply your ointments even though it didn't feel necessary any longer.

>"And… An- And I'll be waiting for all of y-your… all of your fun stories from the trip! I'm sooo sad it's making me dizzy!" Your fellow horned gal sobs before burying her face in your bust, her tears wetting your shirt. "I'll cling to that hope in summer school hell..."

"There, there sugah. Stay strong." You try to soothe your friend, confusedly patting her back and wondering if it's the ointments's smell that is calming her down and whether that's even a good thing. "Ain't nothin' set in stone yet."

Deku had commented on it before; it wouldn't be surprising if your homeroom teacher threw another curveball at you all. While you would like to see all your friends come along to camp, you would also like to see some candid truth come out of your teachers’ mouths once in a while.

>"She’s right! It's summer school hell for us!" Denki adds to the symphony of despair, shambling closer to you and softly shoving Mina to one side, making you hold the pink gal up from falling over with a one-armed hug. Wrapped up in her sorrow, she didn't seem to notice let alone mind. "No campfires in the woods, no relaxing baths… It can't get any worse!"

You are about to try consoling and hugging both of them at once when Deku tries to help out again.

>"You know how Mr. Aizawa and U.A. itself are, Kaminari! He likely has some secret point system or extra credits, or some other extra difficult project you can do to join in!" The green haired boy tries encouraging the blond, placing a strong hand on his shoulder. It's obvious he has no ill intent, but his supportive gesture is enough to stop Denki in his tracks.

>"Keep quiet Midoriya! You'll jinx it!" Sero nervously approaches, his regular oversized grin replaced by an equally large grimace. "If you go saying these hopes out loud, Mr. Aizawa will just end up doing something worse. Like send everyone to summer school hell or make us do some sort of double-or-nothing test! I don't want to see what Turbo Summer School Hell is like!"

Deku gets no time to respond to his strange outburst before Denki grabs the spotlight back.
>>
>"Failing means summer school hell, that was clear! And we flunked the practicals! So there will be no shared onsen for us! So unless you wanna tell me that you all fucked the written part so badly that the average score calls for a repeat of the exam, I don't wanna hear it!" He harps, pointing at Deku's face with his finger and jabbing it closer with each sentence. The freckled boy couldn't lean any further back, leading to Denki's finger poking his eye by the end. "Now let me have my consolation prize…"

And with that, he dives into your open arm.

"Don't get any ideas, if Ah feel so much as a wanderin' finger Ah'm tossin' you through the wall." You grumble as you pat his back. Having to share some space with Mina, he can't do too much, but he seems content with just being held between your arm and chest as he whimpers. All told, if it’s to actually feel you up or if it’s an excuse to mask his sadness for hugs, you can’t quite tell his true intentions. "And with Cementoss present, Ah'm pretty sure there ain't no drywall 'round here."

"You think you ain't comin' either, sugah?" You ask Sero after a brief pause as he shakes his head. Kirishima and Sato seem to be trying their best to take the failure with dignity, but Sero looks like he could do with a hug too. "Ah'm sure Ah could make some room here."

>"I'll pass, it'd only remind me of my defeat at Midnight's…thighs." He answers with a sigh, blushing. "Truth to be told, Mineta carried us through the finish line...literally. So I don't think I'll pass either."

>"I don't take any room!" Mineta chimes in from his seat, smug in his certain passing of the exams.

"Ah sometimes wonder how long it'd take you to crash down if Ah were to stick ya to the ceilin'." You tell him between gritted teeth before focusing back on trying to reassure your third dejected classmate while still patting the first two. "Ain't no shame in losin’ to Midnight, or her thighs! She has saved many lives with those you know!"

The stares that fact gets you from all around the room (except for Iida, who instead continues to stare straight ahead without looking at you) leave you confused for the next minute or so until the bell rings and you all scramble to get to your seats, fixing stray hairs and loosened ties before Mr. Aizawa arrives.

Of course, you don't manage to do it, as the disheveled man slams the sliding door open before the bell can even stop rattling.

>"That's the bell. Be seated and silent." He says, wasting no words as he slips into his usual spot behind his desk at the front of the classroom.

With the exams behind you, but the future of some of your own still uncertain, an air of nervousness engulfs the classroom as you wait for your homeroom teacher to speak.

>“Morning." He starts, orderly placing down a stack of papers. "Regarding your final exams… There are some among you who unfortunately failed..."

And so, with only a few words the haze of uncertainty collapses, into despair for the ones that will be left behind and sadness for their friends. You hear Mina let out a weak mewl.

"As such...You’re all going to summer training camp.” Your teacher continues, the expression your homeroom teacher gets when he reveals his “logical ruses” starting to get on your nerves. The mere fact that you can associate his smile to being lied to is bothersome.

“<Well, throw your hat over the windmill. No one could see that one comin’...>” You dryly state, following the rambunctious outcry from a handful of your classmates. Mina, Kirishima, Sato, and Denki all look mighty thankful about being misled, while Sero’s frown turns right upside down.

>“Would you rather our classmates remain behind?” Shoto asks you with a single eyebrow raised following your remark.

“Ah’d rather we all not be made fools...again. Ya know, in Texas we have a saying about exactly that. Y’all probably heard of it?” You pose to your seat neighbors.

>”I thought that came from Tennessee?” Mineta pipes up from in front of you, voice and face alike still filled with smugness.

Uncertain what the purple gremlin is getting at, you just glare at him and purse your lips, wondering if anyone would mind if you chucked a boot at him. Which incidentally allows you to pay attention just as Iida interrupts Aizawa’s explanation.

>”Sir! Now that the class has been lied to multiple times, aren’t you worried that our faith in you will waver?” Iida stands tall with his arm raised high while a warm smile reaches your lips. Sounds like you’re no longer alone in that opinion. For all the things he may or may not have flubbed yesterday, it’s easy to forgive Iida when you know his heart is always in the right place.

The pleasant feeling ultimately makes you double-take even harder a moment later when Uraraka responds.

>"Way to be a wet blanket, Iida." Your once teammate comments. "Best that we just get used to it."

"Hey, just 'cause they’re gonna make us hug the rose bush again doesn’t mean we have to bite the branch and like it..." You point out from across the classroom, then sigh, immediately regretting it. You're just starting to get on her good side. Openly arguing with Uraraka doesn’t help you any.

>"That possibility has been accounted for." Your teacher quickly answers Iida's inquiry before returning to his notes and doing little to assuage you. "To be clear, everyone cleared the written tests, the failing grades all come from the practical. Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, Sato as well as Sero all failed and therefore will receive special supplemental lessons at camp."

Even with your hearing not being particularly good, and without looking up the row to his seat to confirm, you still make out the clear slap of Sero's forehead hitting his desk over the reactions of everyone else.

>“In addition to you five’s supplemental lessons, all of you will have the ‘opportunity’ to enlist in an additional course that will be held each Friday before the week of the training camp. The purpose of this lesson is to supplement your hero course curriculum following the events at USJ, which hindered its overall schedule.”

Aizawa’s deadpan gaze crosses the room, settling on You, Momo, Shoto and then Iida in turn. “Please keep in mind that this lesson would have been a part of your hero training class in any other year."

Your chair gives a low creak as you lean back to whisper an aside to your co-representative and President of the class.“Is it just me that gets the feeling that the voluntary course is-”

>”Actually required and would hamper your future grades and prospects to forgo it? Yes, almost certainly…Would you like to team up for it? If our break schedules align, that is.” Momo offers quietly behind your ear.

>"Anyway, I'll need the class representatives to hand out the camping manuals and the course sign up sheets before we can adjourn Homeroom for today." Mr. Aizawa states, pointing at the stack of papers on his desk. "Make sure to read the entire packing list a few times, even if you don't end up needing every single item. You won't be able to get them later."

"Let's get that done first, sugah." You tell Momo as you hop to your feet. "Then we can see 'bout the so-called optional lesson."

After taking half the stack and passing out the forms and manuals along with Aizawa cocooning himself once more, Homeroom was officially done. The entire class takes a minute to read and plan for the coming trip, and you can see why he told you to study the packing list as the damn thing is so long and dull that every time you try to read yours, you find something else you missed previously.

"Ugh. Gonna have to get one of those." You comment, then look down at your shirt. "And a new swimsuit too, no way the old one still fits."

>"Well, it's meant to cover all we'll need for a week, plus any eventualities." Momo comments as she continues striking through the things she already had. Like you, most of them, but you have a hunch they’re not hand-me-downs like the ones you inherited from Pa. "It would be disastrous if we found out we needed, for example, feminine hygiene supplies at the skirts of a mountain."

"Yeah, it's not like you can pull stuff out of your- Oh, wait." You snark a bit with a smug smile, getting an unamused look from your taller friend. "C'mon, it's funny and true."

>"Well, maybe I should forgo bringing milk for my tea." She points out, maintaining an unamused expression capable of rivaling Shoto's resting face. "After all, I can count on an unoffered supply, can't I?"

"...Alright, Ah give. Point taken." You concede, jokingly raising your hands above your head to her mouth-covered giggle. "We should go shopping again. Get all that we are missin', ya know?"
>>
>"No!" Toru's energetic voice shouts from the front of the class. "The exams are done and we are all free tomorrow! We should make it a classwide trip! Just hang out and shop together!"

>”She’s been like this since the exam ended… getting the best of Thirteen really flipped some sort of switch.” Jiro approaches you and Momo with a sidelong look at the floating uniform bouncing around in front of the chalkboard.

Sharing a glance and a shrug with Momo, you can't see anything going wrong with hanging out with the whole group of friends. Especially when you missed out on the last time after the practical exam.

"Ya! Sure!" You join, giving in to Toru's enthusiasm. "It'd be nice to spend an afternoon with y'all!" For some reason Iida jumps in his seat at that so hard, you think you see cracks in the top surface of his desk.

>"A pleasant evening to serve as the prologue of our camping trip!" Momo joins too, always excited to hang out with friends.

>"Hey, I don't think we've all hung out together outside the school yet! This will be the first time! Good idea!" Denki adds, and you can nearly feel the beaming smile on Toru's invisible face, just giddy with the positive response.

>"Hey Bakugo, you are coming with us, right?" Kirishima continues trying to be friendly with the human-shaped badger.

>"Like hell I am, I got better things to do." He shoots him down immediately, and immediately ripping a hole in Denki’s goal.

>"What about you, Todoroki?" Deku asks your monochromatic bestie.

>"I plan to… visit someone. Sorry." Shoto excuses himself. You don't need to ask, you know who he's talking about.

Despite some declines, it was clear most of your classmates were equally excited to relax and enjoy the time you have before the next great trial U.A. has for you all.

For you, it was just another on the pile to look forward to. With the hero course exam and your Modern Hero Art History class reviews coming up today, with Snipe and Midnight respectively, as well as needing to formally invite your chosen pals to I-Island, there's a lot on your plate. And that's not even considering you still want to talk to both Momo and Shoto or ask IIda what his deal was ditching you...

I legitimately want to know what he thought of our performance and how we used our quirks. You know: what should we work on? What are his thoughts on concepts like "time, distance, cover" and our attempts to be a "sometimes sneaky, sometimes loud" hero?
>>
Consider the following move idea for Ushi:

If her quirk tends to focus the point of expanding/shrinking on whatever she has touched with all 5 fingertips, and a proper closed fist has all 5 in contact with the hand, then why not use her quirk to briefly expand her fist right as she would impact a target to majorly upscale the damage? Could call it the Houston Hammer. Would be devastating considering she can grow things at supersonic speed.

And that's without even getting in to the directed explosion of displaced air that would be caused. Depending on how quick she can switch transfer modes, she could rapid fire the things.
>>
>>4687163
it would be incredibly tiring to do a even a few punches, but yes its possible.
as an added benefit just doubeling the size of her fist before impact would probably cave a normal persons skull in, just saying.

Without any more grades to strive for this term, it would stand to reason that everyone would relax a bit these last few days before the break… Which is likely what every other high school is doing.

Not at U.A. though, where you waste no time forming the same teams and going to your teacher's offices to watch your own performance as the first 'class' of the day.

"Howdy pardners!" You approach Uraraka and Snipe already at his desk, being the last to arrive. It only took you a minute to skulk in a hallway and text Mei and Pony to let them know you wanted to talk to them at lunch...and respond to a peculiar response from Mei.

>"Leave your hat on the- er, right, leave the door open and come have a seat, Walker." Your teacher motioned to a hat stand behind the door, but quickly switched to a rather nice wooden stool in the shape of a wooden barrel in front of his desk..

"Ah... right-o, sir." You reply as you sit on the charming yet uncomfortable seat, briefly wondering if there's even a good hatter this side of the pacific before taking a closer glance at the one atop Snipe’s brow. Clearly, at least someone out there knows how to work leather. "Is it time yet for me to get chewed out for gettin’ mah plow cleaned?"

>"I thought we did pretty well, all things considered." Uraraka argues with a small smile.

>"Don't be dramatic now kid, you both passed." The masked hero assures you. "Part of the exam was to put you in a tough spot and seein' how you wiggle out of it, so no one expected a perfect run. Of course there's things to improve, you ain't pros yet, but that's why y'all're here."

"Sorry sir, Mr. Aizawa just sprung his 'rational deception' about the camp on us and it kinda soured mah mood." You sigh, trying to stuff your frustration into the back of your mind. After all, it's not their fault. "Ah know teachers here can do whatever ya’ll want if you think it'll bring out the best in us. Ah guess it works, but Ah don't appreciate bein' lied to."

>"Does anyone?" Your teacher muses as he turns the large monitor on his desk, showing Uraraka and you casually entering the parking lot you fought him in. "I got to say, I don't agree with all of Eraserhead's teaching methods. Far easier for everyone to just tell it like it is, I reckon. Y'all got enough on yer plate havin' to learn how to save lives and not dying without havin' to analyze the real meanin' behind what we say."

"Yeah… yeah!" You agree, glad to see a teacher backing you up, but also putting how you feel into words. Well, except the part where Mr. Aizawa convinced your mom and your classmates's parents to act as bait. You still have not too many words but a mighty mood about that.

>"Mr. Aizawa has been teaching at U.A. for years. It may not be nice, but maybe these trials are what we need?" Uraraka proposes, but it doesn't sound entirely sure herself. "You know, 'Only through fire is a strong sword forged' and all that."

"Hm." Several responses crossed your mind, but you hold your tongue. No need to snark more about how you haven't been set on fire and beaten in a while.

>"Anyhow, it's not my place to tell the man how to manage his students n’ class. We are all doing the best we can to shape y'all into the best heroes you can be, and if he thinks bein' sneaky and cullin' the herd will get the class there, so be it." Snipe continues, motioning with his hand in an attempt to get you to settle down and pay attention.

>"Havin' said that though, he isn't here and this isn't 1-A, so let's go over this here recording a couple times. Keep your eyes peeled for the things that you could have done better and try and catch em before I pause to explain. Beat me to the trigger pull as it were."

>”I’ve gotten to look’it over already, so I figure it would be fair for y’all to watch it all the way through once before we start breaking it down. Also gives ya a chance to note timestamps and what not.” Snipe offers as he allows the video to start rolling before sitting back in his chair.

>"At least I'm here with you… Any ideas?" You hear Uravity ask Loanstar, that is to say, you, as the video begins with you two conversing and nearing your starting position…

There’s a certain novelty to watching yourself on-screen that’s quickly overwhelmed by an odd discomfort that comes with looking out for mistakes you made, self-conscious of every step your past self takes in the starkly lit underground. Even your walk, which you always thought as a confident saunter, especially while in costume, has a sheepish gait to it not at all to your liking. As if you were nervous about wearing someone else's boots. You’ll have to ask Midnight for some pointers on that...

For now, you repress your cringing and figure that’s something you’ll have to get used to in the hero business: always being under scrutiny, even by yourself. So you sit quietly and observe the replay of your exam in full, the many different hidden cameras doing a good job of keeping past Loanstar and Uravity in the center of the frame.

You don’t dare react to the events unfolding, lest you give away the gaffes you spot prematurely. Beside you, leaning forward while stone-still and unblinking, Uraraka seems to do the same. Both of your poker faces are put to the test in the final sequence of the recording as it shows Uravity ‘crashing’ into Snipe. As you swallow another snicker that bubbles up to your lips, you have more than a hunch it was a challenge to you both for completely different reasons.

>"…"Oh! Hi Mr. Tin!...I'm not sure.” Snipe hits the pause button just as the recording’s Uravity starts fireman carrying you out of the zone before setting the progress bar back to the beginning.

>”All good to go then?” Your teacher asks, receiving two nods in return. “Go ahead and blurt it out when you’ve got somethin’ and I’ll stop it to discuss."

>"We willl tr- We will, sir!" Uraraka says, nervous at first then far more determined after a deep breath.

"Sure thing pardner!" You tell them both with another sharp nod, matching her determination.

>"I sure do appreciate the enthusiasm, but try to focus on the minutia, okay?" The teacher says, rubbing a hand on his side over his ribs. "You did well, so there wasn’t anything particularly obvious goin' on, but every error you find now can be a dodged hit the next time you end up fightin' a true villain.”

With another tap, the screen starts playing the video again. You wait patiently and rewatch yourself explain Snipe's rifle to your teammate and how it would reduce you to bloody giblets if it landed… But not much more than that before Uraraka speaks up.
>>
>"Here." She claims, raising a hand and pointing at her costumed self on the screen.

"...Sugah, we ain't done nothing yet. Hell, we ain’t even started technically." You point out, confused at this apparent mistake.

>"Lack of preparation or working off of poor intel can be a mistake too, kid. Never forget that." Your teacher grimly affirms, then gestures at you partner. "Now explain what you mean to your teammate."

>"You said 'Ah've never seen him fan fire' right before you asked me 'What do you think, anything Ah missed?'" Uraraka explains with a masterful imitation of your accent. If you were more comfortable with her, you would have quipped that she was going native with how natural it sounded. "However, I had seen it, when Snipe repelled The League of Villains during the USJ Attack. But I didn’t say so during… I was just too distracted and didn't respond properly."

"Ah wondered <how the heck> he was shootin' so fast… Kinda hard to see with all the debris… So, by design." You ramble a bit then shrug, satisfied by the explanation and not all too bothered. "Ah don't think the plan would’ve changed much though, heh. We kinda worked off the bullets comin’ at us rather than the bullets we’d seen before."

>"You'll come across many other heroes in the line of duty, both called upon in the moment while on patrol and as reinforcements. Relayin' info, accurate info, can be vital. Life savin’ even." Snipe tells both of you, tapping the brim of his hat before resuming the video. "Good on you for catching that on your own, Uraraka. Now let's see if y'all can keep it up."
>>
“Now.” You’re somewhat relieved that you’re able to save some face and be the next one to speak up, quickly prompting Snipe to pause just as the recording shows you taking cover behind the second pillar. Meanwhile, Uravity is shown still pressed behind the first, the two of you looking at each other.

>”Huh? What, should I have followed you immediately? You told me to get as much debris as I could to float just before, beyond that I am not a mind reader. You will have to tell me beforehand if that's what you had intended…” Uraraka defends herself, pressing her palms together while lightly shaking her head.

“Nah, nothin’ like that. You came over right after, after all. If anythin’, setting your head on using Zero Gravity made ya just as blind as Ah was...” You rub your temple in unease at the missed opportunity you are about to point out. “If we really wanted to obscure Snipe’s vision and kill the lights, I oughta have gone for that instead.”

You reach forward and direct her attention to a small box attached to a wall in the background of the display. Its protruding shape and attached circuit cables in plain sight in the opposite direction of the exit. Even with the gas expanding in the area, it was still neatly visible to both of you in your covered positions behind the pillars… if you had bothered to look back instead of only peeking forward or at each other.

“I’m glad you got this one. It is likely the largest error of your exam, as far as the scoring goes that is. Killing the lights in one fell swoop would have accomplished your initial idea in an instant while also minimizing the points you lost on collateral damage.”

>”Ooh… Wait. Would we have been able to get to that? That’s in the middle of one of your lanes of fire, isn’t it?”

>“Correct, and that was on purpose. Like I said back then, the teacher’s were not holding back and I made sure to settle in where I could keep an eye on it. Considering the other maneuvers you two pulled off, and that impressive whip at hand, I reckon you would have pulled it off with minimal risk eventually.” At that, Uraraka leans back in surprise from Snipe’s favorable prediction.

>“With that said, it's pretty forgivable to have it slip your mind while under fire, especially if you haven’t encountered gun fire before. Lookin' away from an active shooter ain't a natural instinct either." Your teacher calmly reassures her with a shake of his head.

For your part, being praised on your whip strikes by Snipe, a hero that wraps himself in the idealism of the ‘Cowboy’ was an antidote for your previous sour mood. Even the lingering and bitter realization that you do have experience with guns that you didn’t call to mind in the fight couldn’t keep you from sitting up with pride from the compliment. You bask in it for an instant until another thought that you had during the exam pops back up in your head.
>>
“By the way, would that really have been enough to mess with your suppressive fire? Ah figured you'd have some sort of infrared or night-vision going on in there for such an occasion.” You motion to your own face in reference to your teacher’s mask. Snipe nods in response.

>”Right you are, even if you can presume that of your opponent, uncommon is the man that is just as precise in darkness as he is at high noon. Even among heroes. For your situation, every little bit helps. Losing the lights would put me in the hot seat to counter your ploys as you neared the gates and myself rather than continuing on with my shoot-out… which I did without much issue here. Taking the time to assess the situation at the start pays dividends when you are in a pickle like our fight. It’s generally a good game plan to put the villain on their back foot as quickly as possible and have ’em react to you rather than the other way around.

It's a little while longer and many on-screen lights destroyed later when Snipe stops the recording of his own accord. You try to resist wincing at ‘missing’ one, but you are quickly overwhelmed by the want to as you realize when your teacher paused it. You hazard a glance over at your partner for affirmation and notice her similarly squirming, looking away in embarrassment.

>“Ya know, I’ve never quite seen a pair of students so quickly formulate and come to a consensus on the wisdom to keep movin’, a very good notion against a lone gunman I might add... and then proceed to do the exact opposite.” Snipe’s tone makes it obvious he’s trying to lighten the mood on you and Uraraka’s blunder. “Now, to back up a bit, I can see it happenin’ for a mighty good reason. Like discoverin’ a new exit strategy or the like. But as the video shows, it was for…” He lets the question linger in the air for you to answer.

“Discussin the merits n’ the proper name of a swampy underground garage...” You glumly state.

>”Clarifying and extolling the G-cans project….“ Uraraka mumbles simultaneously.

>”...Ya, that. At least you caught wind of the wax bullets in a moment here. Although if we had our collective hindsight, it would’ve been much sooner and that pillar wouldn’t have been nearly as close to collapsin’. Like before, that means you’re dancin’ to my tune rather than the other way around." The teacher affirms, drilling his point into your noggins. “By the looks of you, y’all know to keep a tighter lid on discussion in the middle of the fray from here on. Don’t get too rattled by it all, that's one skill that you never stop learnin’, even after you go pro. You definitely weren’t the only pair that had that issue anyhow."
>>
“Whatcha mean?” You tilt your head in thought, recalling the other exams you witnessed at Recovery Girl’s encampment. You may have taken a hit to the head, but you don’t recall watching any prolonged spats like yours… outside of Can't Stop Twinkling arguing with Thirteen but you’re pretty certain that's a case of a good and proper quarrel for distraction’s sake.

>“...I think it’s best to let the footage do the talking in this case.” He answers as he opens up a tab that quickly loads a video clip on half of the screen, showing Deku nervously pleading to Bakugo to let him come up with a new plan, only for the blond boy to turn around and swing his arm at him.

“Par for the course, Ah reckon. Everyone was expectin’ somethin’ to go down the minute y'all put them together.” You mumble nonplussed as Uraraka gasps and covers her mouth beside you.

>"...Well? Make it quick, loser." The raging boy growls, grabbing his teammate by the neck, his twitching thumb indicating a barely restrained desire to choke him out. "I don't have time for your bawling."

>"Listen to me Kacchan…" Deku pleads again, grabbing the gloved hand on his neck and trying to force it open without his quirk.

>"I. Am." Bakugo barks back through clenched teeth, letting go of Deku and shoving him away, looking angrier by the second. "I'm going to clear this test faster than… anyone, with or without your chittering. So are you a stepping stone or deadweight?"

“That one less so...” You comment, watching them… 'cooperate', as it were.

As the footage unfolds it only gets clearer to you, not that they aren't a match for All Might, no one is after all, but that Bakugo is listening. From a simple quick dodge when Deku yelps to lending his equipment without asking any questions when his teammate asks for it. He was not happy about it, he might have even cracked every molar in his mouth with that tight grimace he sported between yelling at both Deku and All Might… But he did it.

Before you know it, you are leaning towards the screen alongside Uraraka, holding onto the desk's edge with snow-white knuckles. Everytime they managed to gain some distance between themselves and All Might, the 'villain' closed it in a matter of seconds. Every clever tactic that they came up with, All Might just overpowered with sheer strength.

In the end, it was just two badly beaten kids versus the mightiest man on the planet, the exit close enough to be seen through the dust clouds of explosions and shockwaves. And yet too far to reach before All Might could grab them, or worse. Geez, was he targeting their backs on purpose?

But they didn't give up, neither of them. Deku you had seen pull off horrid stunts, but to watch Bakugo’s arms spasm and hear his skull bounce against the cracked concrete under All Might's hand was new… and no less gruesome.
>>
>"Run you dork." He spits, holding onto All Might's weighted arm and blasting him with whatever strength remained in him. "I'm not done here."

>"Oh, but you are, young hero. Do take the hint and rest now." All Might suggests, worry creeping into his intimidating routine before he lifts him by the face and slams him against the concrete once more, this time knocking up a dust cloud. "Huh? GAH!?"

Despite what your own hands-on experience can assure was at the very least a concussion, the boy's now bloodshot red eyes remained open as he bit into the teacher's hand, his arm raising with failing strength to claw at his face with dull, smokey crackles.

>"I won't… I can't!" The boy growls, his voice breaking in his desperation. "I'll give it all… IT'LL BE ENOUGH! Every bone yet to break-"

And again, the hero slams him against the concrete, turning to face the pale green haired boy.

>"Now, I can't just let you get away, Midoriya my-" The teacher manages to say before a flailing, torn glove slaps him across the cheek, the explosive sweat on it detonating like a firecracker on All Might's face.

>"Where the hell you think you’re going!?" Bakugo rages on, getting All Might's full attention while still clawing at him with a raw looking hand. "Your fight's with me!"

>"Oh dear Bakugo, your poor teacher can't take this anymore…" All Might laments, sounding genuine as he hesitantly tries to knock him out for the third time.

Yet the twitching clawing returns, weaker, raking nowhere near the teacher's face, yet as unrelenting as the student's feral growling.

>"-RA---- -ND WALK-R HA-E PAS--D --E EX-M!" A heavily damaged speaker blurts out from among the rubble nearby, the announcer's voice unrecognizable.

With a final howl and a rather sad shower of sparks, Bakugo finally rolls over, spent.

All Might only manages to sigh in relief before being physically reminded that it wasn't a one-on-one match.

Deku surmounting his paralysis and coming to his teammate's rescue instead of running was expected, but not any less of a relief… The fact that he did so by clocking All Might in the jaw hard enough to leave him staggering back as he leapt with his teammate to safety, THAT was the last surprise.

"...Wow. They… Fought more and less than Ah expected." You whistle, shaking your hands to try and get your blood running again. "Ah don't even recall their announcement."

>"You passed out remember? Right after slobbering on me." Uraraka reminds you before turning back to the screen and ruminating briefly before Snipe closes the video. “All Might carried them to Recovery Girl's tent. After all of… that, Deku… He couldn't walk either.”
>>
>”All types of rodeos happened that day. Some of y'all tried to avoid it or work around it, others made the best of it. Those two, well, they had to take the brunt of it to get the message. No pair was chosen to have it easy, but those two managed to make it even harder on themselves... At least they made progress for the sake of the exam, if only for handful of moments and after gettin' in a bout of their own. Sometimes the only way out is through, to brave the rain to get out of the storm's path.” Snipe finishes

>"...You could say that again.” Uravity eyes drop. You give her a pat on the back, softer than your usual, knowing that like you she wasn’t thinking about Deku’s plight on that particular sentiment.

“<Damn straight.>” You reply, not with the vitriol of a put-down nor the satisfaction of vindication, just understanding.

On that note, Snipe wordlessly nods at the two of you and lets your own exam’s recording continue a little while longer before he assumes control of it once more, this time setting it to a high-frame slow motion.

>”Considering your analysis so far, I presume you both can come up with the fault here?” He turns to you as you all observe the slowly collapsing pillar with you and Uravity fleeing the immediate area.

>”Hmmmm… We didn’t act soon enough and the whole thing almost came down on us because of it.” Uraraka critiques after some thought. Apparently, like you, she recognized the incident as one to call out but didn’t have a clear reason for doing so… and assumed their partner would cover it. "The structure was as strong as it looked, but I don't think anything can withstand a long barrage..."

“Ah ended up trying to recover in a hurry… Which directly led to me getting shot… the first time.” You add on as you watch Uravity begin to prepare the floating chunk that saves your bacon from the first wax bullet zeroing in on you from off-screen.

>"...I'm sorry, I am stumped. What other plan could we have come up with there? Either goal, going after you or the exit, would need to know where you were. We were stuck there… at least I felt like it.” Your exam partner wonders aloud in frustration as you nod in agreement.

>“True to a point, you did get yourselves herded into a corner. It doesn't take much creative thinkin' to see how the small fumbles we talked 'bout piled up into this.” Snipe explains before calling forth images of said moments on the display, all three of them. You notice the frozen frames are a bit different in where they’re paused, and are filled with colored highlights and notes in a messy digital scrawl.

>”There would be no collapsin’ pillar if you needn’t feel like arguing, no dead end from gettin’ herded if you had created new avenues to attack or retreat in in the dark, and plenty of forewarning to get out of Dodge if you ascertained your opponents full capabilities.” Your teacher re-lists your lessons of the hour.
>>
>“But even cut off, you didn’t give up. That’s important. We can guide moxie, but we can't make a hero out of yellow-bellied quitters...If anythin’, Aizawa’s methods are mighty effective at cultivatin’ that behavior." The hero explains, tipping his hat to both of you following his analysis and then concluding with a puzzling question. "But there’s a different lesson here. Now, y'all started to take, albeit delayed, steps to shimmy outta’ that mess, but what did you do to hedge your bets?”

Seeing the confusion etched across both of your faces, he continues.

>“Right, You took to peekin' out to figure out where I was, what else did you do?” He asks, folding his arms over his chest.

“Uhhh, well, Ah was the one peeking n’ tryin’ not to get mah bell rung…?” Your eyes wander between Snipe, Uraraka, and the screen, trying to catch the point flying over your head. You watch as Uravity slams into you in dramatic fashion and you do your best to not blurt out Get down Mrs. President!

>“Floating more debris, waiting to know where you were?...You said ‘Hold on’ or something?” Your partner explains, imitating your accent again while motioning towards you.

>“So all told, not too much?” Snipe suggests, keeping a calm tone. While you nod hesitantly, Uraraka opens her mouth and points towards the screen for a second before snapping it back shut, nodding as well. “Dang right you didn’t, and I sure made you pay for it. The one thing you had going for you the whole exam you threw out the window. It was a two on one gals... That means you can almost ALWAYS both be doing somethin'. Better yet, be doing somethin to make your partner’s job easier. Uraraka?"

>“Y-yes.” The brunette answers, wearing her nerves on her sleeve as her gaze flashes between the monitor and the hero in front of her. Your on-screen heroic self is just starting to rise from the ground, unaware of the impending danger.

>”You went with Walker's plan, but also let her take all the initiative while under that pillar up until blocking that bullet you saved her from. Great reflexes, but if you played your part to the fullest, you wouldn’t haf’ta pull that off. Of course the debris helped, but you can do better than being a fog machine and keep an eye on the trouble your partner gets up to. It doesn’t take a mind reader for that either, just making a ruckus and taking the heat off Walker as she spots me ...or just stopping her from playing at bein’ a target dummy."

You were about to openly protest and come to Uraraka’s defense, feeling like Snipe was being too harsh in his criticism, but that last line had you realizing that the boot was already on the other foot.
>>
>”Walker, you’re on the flipside. You knew you had to risk your hide, but you didn’t put a lick of effort into keepin' the peril to a minimum. The brazen disregard for your own safety is as much a hazard to your teammates as it is to yourself. If I was a real villain with a penchant for killing, you would have left Uraraka high and dry. You’re more than lucky to come out of that exam with just the injuries that you did… Next time try and coordinate actions with your teammate, not just plans. It might be the only way to make sure both of you still have a partner at the end of the day."

As Snipe finishes his lecture, you realize you had been holding your breath and force yourself to exhale, hearing similarly from Uraraka next to you. It almost surprises you how weary you both sound. And it wasn’t even lunch time on your first day back at U.A.. During the exam, even as you felt your ribs bend inward, it was painful but it still felt right. Taking hits that would fell others is surely what a hero does, according to at least some books!

But Snipe's last words put a dreadful spin on how confident you were about your previous judgements. What would have really happened if you had investigated the coordinates that night your friends faced The Hero Killer? Would you have stopped any of Shoto, IIda, or Deku from getting hurt like you imagined?... Or just dragged everyone down? The prospect of not only being unable to help, but that by even trying you would be a liability sends a shiver down your spine.

...And fills your head with dark thoughts.

Luckily, thank God, you aren't given much time to dwell on that, as you notice Uraraka holding her face in her hands and covering her eyes.

“...You okay, sugah?,” you ask, anticipating a second patting session. No harm in continuing to try to be a good pal, right?

>“Just… don’t look...” She replies quietly, turning her head to you to make eye contact while sporting a growing blush. All the while, she keeps her hands up in between herself and the teacher, narrowing her own field of view.

“Wha-ah… Oh.” You start to ask for a clue before the answer conspicuously bounces in front of you, leaving your mouth agape. To the side of Snipe, who’s still turned to face you, is the replay of you in the process of getting shot...In high definition slow motion. You can’t tear your eyes away as the amber-colored slug pushes half way in to your chest...and the whole thing quakes with its dispersed energy. You have seen ballistic gel videos before ...this was something else entirely. Your very own bullet-time train wreck, making you nauseous in self-empathy but ultimately unable to advert your stare.
>>
>"Take it easy now gals, you passed. Chin up, like I said at the beginning, these hard lessons are what this is all about. Ain't no shame in stumblin' on the trial run, I reckon. Much less if you still make it to the goal like you did.” Snipe tries consoling you both as you attempt to keep your cool. His tone and focus makes it clear he doesn’t have a clue of the calamity occuring beside him. "Couple years from now, when you are keeping the streets safe with a licence of your own, y'all will be glad you didn't have to figure out any of this on the job."

>"We'll take it to hear-" Uraraka squeaks before briefly glancing at you, all the while continuing to recoil from the recording. "Sorry."

“Y-yes sir. Just one more question about the exam…what you said back then, about mah silhouette, you meant mah horns...right??” You beg of him, watching as the wax ball starts to ‘separate’ itself from your costume as your past self begins falling back from the force of impact. Your breasts judder out of control and put the costume's thick fabric to the test as it barely keeps everything more-or-less in place. The fact nothing came out through the star was nothing less than miraculous, be it a feat of Mei’s engineering or divine providence.

>“Uh, I’m not sure whaaaaaAA-REVIEW'S OVER GALS, GO ON BACK TO YOUR CLASSROOM!" Your teacher finally spots the distraction at hand then lunges over his desk at his keyboard, almost knocking the whole thing over. He smashes a gloved hand at half a dozen keys a myriad of times before managing to press the correct one to stop the video. In response to his manic commands, the screen goes through a fit. Slowing down, speeding up, changing camera angles, briefly reversing for a few stuttering frames, showing Aoyama’s face and then finally rubber bands back to the end of the recording before pausing.

...Right in time to show the first frame of Snipe’s mask getting to personally inspect the seams of Uravity’s costume.

All three of you sit there, stunned and brightly blushing respectively. Snipe finally comes back to life and wastes no time putting a permanent end to the issue. Unholstering one of his pistols, your teacher tosses it into the air, grabs it by the barrels and buffalos the monitor with the butt of it, smashing its screen in a single swift motion.

>"I’d… appreciate it if you didn’t tell Midnight or All-Might about any of this… So, as I was sayin' earlier, we are done here gals." Your teacher continues, calmly holstering his weapon and clasping his hands together over his disheveled desk, ignoring the shards of glass. "You did well, but could have done even better on some key matters. Remember all that we talked about and move along with your day, I don't want you to be late."
>>
Between the embarrassing imagery and his reactions, you spend nearly an entire minute avoiding making eye contact with either of them and saying nothing but mumbled farewells to Snipe as you awkwardly shuffle around the mess towards the open door.

>"...I really thought he was gonna shoot it." Uraraka finally comments as she reaches the entrance.

"Ain't no excuse good enough for irresponsible gun use." You immediately tell her, almost by instinct. It's one of those things you just know from back home.

>"<Damn straight>, Walker." Snipe confirms with an approving nod from his desk, then points at you as Uraraka takes her leave. "Say, there's just one more thing I could tell you."

"Yes, sir?" You ask, curious but also dreading what may come next.

>"Try and get a new hat already, it suited you well." The hero answers. "Now move along, you’ve got more classes and I’ve got to requisition a new monitor."

"Ah… Ah'll look into it, sir." You answer with a bit of hesitation. Down to your last pinch front stetson, a gift from Pa, you don't want to lose it in the line of duty..

With your review thankfully behind you, you power-walk back to your classroom besides Uraraka, both of you eager to get away from that last uncomfortable event.

"Well, that could have gone worse, we still passed!" You comment as you make your way through the hallways, intent on not letting another awkward silence settle in. "And at least we didn't try to choke each other. <The heck> was that anyways?"

>"You mean Bakugo and Deku's ...'clash’, right?" Uraraka asks back, after taking a moment to find the right word. Seeing you nod, she continues. "I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think I know. They are neighbors, and went to the same schools growing up… You know how Deku is just now getting the hang of his quirk? It's because it manifested very late, like last year late… He's making great progress, it almost looks like he's had it all his life by now, right? It took a while but his quirk is amazing too!"

"...For sure. Who knows just how strong he can get?" You think you already know: All Might strong, if Shoto was right about them. "But what does that gotta do with those two… With Bakugo barkin' at Deku all the time? Ah’ve already tried to tell him off before the exam."

>"...Right!" She looks aside for a second, her cheeks back to a cute pink. "Well, Bakugo was always the top dog as it were, while Deku was at the bottom of ...well, everything. I think that Bakugo is scared of Deku now that they are equals… and that the nerd he looked down on may surpass him."

"That… Makes sense, actually." You don't know Bakugo all that well, but you don't need to for this riddle. Having already encountered both yourself, his pride is as strong and obvious as his rage. "Doesn't make it right, but Ah think Ah get it now."
>>
>"Of course it's not right. They are childhood friends on the same career path! They should be even stronger friends, not… yelling and cowering." She finishes with a sigh, her shoulders slumping. "It's not like Deku hasn't tried, but Bakugo only ever ignores him or berates him."

"Ah think he's gettin' better… A little bit better." You suggest, thinking about how he only threatened and manhandled his teammate instead of just beating him up. You finish your thought just before spotting the kinder half of the boys you were talking about, stiffly walking in your direction and looking down. "...Speak of the devil. Hey sugah, where ya going? Class hasn't started yet?"

>"Uh-Oh! Hi Walker, Uraraka… Uhm, Midnight's not supposed to start her class yet, so I'm taking the chance to go to the restroom before she arrives." The short green-haired boy explains, pointing at 1-A's door over his shoulder with his thumb. He, however, doesn't stop walking, quickly shuffling away from you both.

"...Must have been holdin' it in for a while now." You point out with a shrug.

>"He had his review with All Might, right? He wouldn't interrupt him just to go to the restroom. ...or any other reason, really." Uraraka chuckles. You take it as a good sign that she feels better around you to joke about Deku of all people.

Inside of the classroom everything is pretty much as you were expecting, the familiar sight of friends sitting on the desks, making small talk or playing some local variation of morra or other finger games to pass the time.

The only glaring and brooding exception was the other boy you discussed in the hallway.

>"Hey Bakugo, come play with us! This thing gets better with more players!" Denki invites the raging ashen blond to join him and Sero.

>"Just shut up, you failures!" He snarls back without even looking at them, killing both of their smiles in one fell swoop.

"...Ah think he’s close to popp-eh?." You comment before you realize that you're talking to merely yourself in the doorway. You do a double take before seeing Uraraka has ventured ahead with a determined stride, the kind you kind of wish you had seen in yourself during the exam review.

Your surprise is replaced by confusion as you witness her take a seat... at Deku’s desk? Things only get more curious from there as you see Bakugo wildly turn in his seat after another moment of bristling.

>“...You! I don’t give a shit what All-Might said, you were supposed to run for the goal alone you wea-” He practically spits before noticing who he's yelling at.

>“-If you’re looking for Deku, he’s still in the restroom.” Your exam partner interrupts the boy’s rant, making him sputter. A calm demeanor you hadn’t seen much of emanates from the girl, her hands clasped together on the green boy’s desktop.
>>
>”I sensed your explosive mood, you were about to torment him again, right?” She probes him. ‘Sensed his mood’ your newly strengthened behind, everyone in the class can read him and was giving Bakugo the typical 7 feet of space…

>“NO SHIT Sherlock, now get outta of my face!” Bakugo dismisses her. You would have thought that would be that, but Uraraka seems to double down. Without a moment of hesitation, she leans forward and continues her inquiry.

>”Couldn’t you try to get along with him more?”Uraraka requests, her brow furrowing momentarily. “I saw your exam and how you really heard him out during your fight against Al-

>”Fucking what?! Say that again Moon-face!” The spiky boy shifts around completely and slams his hands on Deku’s desk. Your exam teammate sits back upright, but she carries on, not even showing the nerves she had openly sported in Snipe’s office.

>”-against All-Might, and I know it wasn’t easy for you, but it really looked like it worked. Couldn’t you try to do that going forward, especially with Deku?” Uraraka finishes, staring at the living firework eye to eye. Like you were trying to tell her before, he really does look like he's about to blow a load. Having some personal experience with Bakugo yourself, you aren’t sure she knows the amount of powder she just added to the metaphorical keg.

>"...What the fuck are you smoking?" He asks with a menacing grimace, quite literally showing her his fangs as he grips the edges of Deku's desk.

It looks like he's about to get physical, but he wouldn't do that.

...Right?

Depending on how it progresses, I would vote for backing up Uraraka, but I feel like backing her up now might potentially undermine her

Uh anons, I don’t know whether you realize or not but that’s what Ushihas been doing for that last bit of the update.

What’d she learn? Well, I guess that Bakugo goes full tsundere and doesn’t like people drawing attention to him giving an ounce of civility....which sorta fits what we see of him following getting kidnapped and compensating Kirishima’s night vision set.

And that Uraraka goes full bull-headed when it comes to matters regarding Deku? Sorta showing that off in lieu of their sports festival match?

As for me, I say go big or go home (with intent to get some RD or some other dice involved to support Ushi’s point)

Hmmmmmmmm, Bakugo and Uraraka.
The most debauched and decadent of ships.
Uuuuunf, sweet sweet nectar! So absolutely scrumptious!

As an aside, I want to see if our quirk can pull a nasty combo with Uraraka. She makes something small weightless and we grow it, throw it, and she adds the weight back. Or we have a a weightless wall (that would have been awesome in that last test) made from a pebble that is now a boulder.

This combo does need to be tested. If our increasing of mass after the activation of Uraraka's quirk still makes her sick, then nix that. Just curious if it's possible though.

This is a war, not a battle. I figure we’ll both need to get involved at different times, Urahara to rev him up so he won’t stop thinking about what she said, and us to cool him back down so he can actually *think* about what she’s saying. Maybe hook up with him after school today?

We’ll need both approaches if we want something to get into his skull.

So essentially a drag n drop thwomp? That IS pretty nasty.

It does seem dependent on her quirk strength/tolerance which is her biggest room of improvement going into even post training camp so perhaps later.

You just got a big lesson on looking before you leap, and while you doubt you'll get shot in the classroom, you intend to heed Snipe's advice. So you stay put, and listen in to Uraraka’s plea from across the room, wary of any signs that Bakugo was about to get physical with her.

>"I really do think you two have some common ground!" Uraraka continues pushing her case despite Bakugo's clear, somehow still growing, anger.

It's impressive how his scowl always manages to grow with his rage, even when it looks like his face has run out of real estate.

>"WHAT!?" Bakugo sneers, clearly having heard her but daring her to keep at it.

>"I've seen you fight. Despite the insults and gestures you clearly have a finer control than anyone else in class… But you still seem to get genuinely angry when it's about Deku. Why do you hate him so?" She asks, her face softening into a curious expression that contrasts his abrasive scowl. "Can't you just get along? Having grown up together and now being in the same class... You should be best friends, not fighting all the time! I've seen him try to approach you, but you keep pushing him away! Almost like… You are afraid of him."

>“...Afraid? AFRAID OF THE FUCKING NERD THAT TOOK FIFTEEN YEARS TO THROW A PUNCH WITHOUT SNAPPING LIKE A TWIG!? ARE YOU JUST TRYING TO PROVOKE ME!?” Bakugo interrogates her, jumping out of his seat and letting the chair fall to the floor. In an instant, he swats Deku's desk to the side with the back of his hand, removing the only thing between himself and Uraraka. He rages on, louder than the clatter of the furniture crashing against the floor. "C'MON THEN! LET'S SEE WHO'S AFRAID!"

Bakugo snaps into a stance, keeping one hand high and one low. He's clearly ready and prompting her to fight, as the slight smoking from his fingers demonstrates. If your memory serves you right, his moves take a fair bit of inspiration from kick-boxing, and it shows.

>"H-HEY!? C-CALM DOWN!!" Uraraka shrieks as she also pops out of Deku’s chair and takes a quick step back, covering her face… Before her hands settle into a fighting stance of her own, albeit far more defensive. This one you don't know what to label, maybe she picked up some bits of judo to compliment her quirk? It looks ready to throw the boy into the ground were he to advance.

...But from your vantage point, it doesn't look like Bakugo will. Sure, he looks, and certainly is ready to maul her, but compared to your own encounters with him, he doesn't show any sign of further aggression… On the whole, he’s just standing there, baring his teeth at her. Menacingly.

However, Uraraka doesn't seem like she's cowering or standing down any time soon, despite shaking in her boots.

With neither of them looking like they will back down, and the rest of the class giving them space, you hold your chin and wonder what to do before either a fight breaks out or Midnight arrives to see this mess and scold everyone.

>"That's bet-" You hear right before Deku crashes into your back, sending you stumbling a couple steps inside the class. "Sorry! It's just, you were in the doorway and-"

>"AND YOU, I'LL GUT YOU TOO!" Bakugo yells, pointing in your direction, prompting you to point at yourself. "DEKU!.. Not you Walker, We can get even later and I’ll put you to bed like you did me."

"Ah. Thanks?" You nod absentmindedly, still deep in thought.

>"W-what did I do though!?" The green haired boy squeaks, then looks at his desk and notebooks strewn on the floor. "A-and what's happening here!?"

Now seems like a good time to step in before Deku or anyone else decides to dig up any more rattlesnakes.

Let's try to de-escalate without getting too involved in the dispute.

"Ah ain't takin' any side here, but what say we take a few minutes an' cool off before Midnight comes in and whips both yer hides?"

Also calmly try to put Ushi between them so they can't go straight at each other without getting into shrink-range if they make Ushi intervene. Not saying we use it, but keep the option open and in the back of his head.

Allows them both to disengage without giving at the moment and ease the tension for now.

And hopefully we could make this one with Charm instead of Putdown for a better roll.

I think that would just be part of the same roll. It amends the extent to what Ushi is trying to charm in to with the same underlying goal. If it was charm them to do something distinct on top of the vote to calm Bakugo, that would be trying to get 2 charm successes on 3d10...ya impossible.
With that said, I am itching to use the RD with Bakugo somehow. Lets see...

Supporting. Letting Bakugo deescalate by giving him an out is important. *Making* him deescalate by saying “yeah, he got it already” is bad since it calls out that he’s just posturing, and could force him to act to defend his status as the meanest mofo in class.

Putting ourselves between them plus the mention of Midnight frames gives two excuses to back down. Bakugo can take either.

Now, can we also address Deku before doing anything? Maybe whisper “Ah’ll help you pick up, please be quiet a moment though”. Hopefully he picks up from our suggestion that anything he says in response to this is going to add kerosene to either Bakugo or Uravity’s fire unless they break off first.

I don't know. I feel like that's trying to work the situation in a way that is both making a few too many assumptions for my liking and making things more complex than they need to be.

And despite his short fuse, Bakugo is pretty quick on picking things up. Trying to diplomance him could backfire badly. Besides, manipulating him rather than just being a straight shooter is just not very Ushi to my mind.

Something suitably calm and understanding but assertive seems the thing to do.

“...Look alive sugah, daylight's a-wasting." You tell your green haired friend, poking him in the ribs with your elbow to make him stop in his tracks and make sure he's paying attention. You follow it up with a whisper as you pass him by. "Ah'll help ya pick up in a minute, but Ah have to get them sorted out first, else Midnight will whip 'em for acting like toddlers and me n' Momo for letting them.”

>"Huh?” Deku peeps, looking even more high-strung than before, and that's saying something. But having just seen him try to press on into the minefield that is his seat all the same, you reckon that he was about to do something about it himself.

"Thank you." You mutter preemptively before marching on toward the two glaring teenagers in the classroom. Set on sliding between your schoolmates, keeping both at arms reach, and ready to pull their ears… metaphorically of course.

"Ah ain't takin' any side here, but…" You start as you approach them, trying to sound sure of yourself without coming off as cocky… And to keep the number of footwear in your mouth to a minimum.

You’ve got the feeling while their posturing is genuine, both ready to strike back, they would also welcome a reason to stand down without looking weak. Time to give them one.

You come to stand between Bakugo and Uraraka, ready to put this scuffle to rest. You take a nervous deep breath, totally not trying to remember where you were going with this.

"Ah ain't takin' any side here, but…" You repeat yourself. “Uhm…"

Unable to quickly finish your speech, their determined and angry gazes fall upon you, putting you on the spot, driving up your anxiety and pushing whatever words you were looking for out of your mind.

>"...Wait. Sides? So you’re okay with this?" Uraraka asks in disbelief, waving a flexed hand across the mess on the floor then towards Bakugo himself.

"N-now, Ah said Ah ain't takin' any side cuz-" You stutter, struggling to finish and gain control of the situation, but to no avail.

>"-But you are still going to butt in, right?" Bakugo kills your train of thought by pointing straight at your nose and making you go crosseyed. "Bullshit."

"No listen, Ah ain't takin' any side here, but…" You try one more time, feeling their frustration starting to turn on you. Panicking, your mind jumps to your tried and true outs: A bit of flexing with your hands on your hips and pulling back your shoulders to assert yourself, like All-Might... Which would pop your uniforms' first few buttons, giving them a window to…

But you are trying to not be that gal anymore. Instead of resorting to flirty shock and awe, you just step back and give up the ghost with a shake of your head. "Ahhh, who the hell am Ah kiddin’? Nevermind. Ah just didn't want any of you to get into trouble.”

>"Tell her about it, coming over here and starting shit." Bakugo snaps back as you retreat to your seat. "You ain't gonna make me forget the crap she was just spewing by strutting in."

>"You started throwing things! Because I told you you could be better!" Uraraka retorts incredulously, making it clear your interference barely did anything, and certainly not for the better. It's hard to not feel dejected as you watch them keep at it.

To boot, you get a bit envious of Deku's seemingly effortless poise in stopping them. More accurately, stopping Bakugo, as Uraraka’s timid side returned immediately upon spotting him approaching from the doorway.

>"...If you had run, we would have made it in time!" Bakugo growled at the green haired boy as he duplicated your route and steps between your quarreling classmates.

>"You are right Kacchan, but our grades would have been worse." Deku simply admitted, crouching without looking at his neighbor to gather his notebooks and pens. He peeked back up after a moment, having realized something. "...Were you trying to race someone?"

The raging blond glanced at you for a fraction of a second before averting his gaze, just enough to keep you on your toes after your fumbling.

>"...Fuck you." Bakugo eloquently answered, stomping the leg of his own chair and launching it to stand upright in one fluid flip before sitting down and turning his back on everyone.

It was impressive and deserving of some sort of comment if it was in any other context, but for now you just continue to stand there, feeling awkward and inadequate. So much for being the reason to back down...

>"Do you need a hand?" Uraraka expectantly asks Deku as she joins his effort to clean up his desk, not waiting for an answer. Although her resolve sticks around, her anger quickly leaves her face as she helps him out. You take a step forward to join Deku as you had promised, but your prior teammate gives you a side-glance from the floor that makes you immediately second guess that intention.

So it is from your seat, slumped over your desk near the back of the room that you wait for Midnight's class to start. You're not even jazzed up by your favorite teacher making her entrance.

>"Everybody in their seats? Good. I ran into some IT issues and had to… gather information about how it happened. But I'm here now and we have an exam to go over." The heroine says as she enters, seemingly in a good mood and sliding the door behind her. "Now, let's talk about spandex, kevlar and polka dots and which of them caused nearly all of you to miss points. Remember now, the Clownish Clash was supposed to be a historical turning point, not a description of your exam."

You don't manage to muster much enthusiasm for the class’s review, but you’re not particularly worried either, silently content that your consistent study habits for the term likely paid off. Doesn’t hurt that Bakugo was monopolizing giving answers to Midnight so you didn’t have to. You wonder if he would ever get bored of reciting them before even Iida could raise his hand (not that he didn't try).

With seemingly good scores across the board, no teacher was particularly interested in singling you out, for better or for worse, during the rest of reviews. Evidently, they were more keen on tormenting Denki and Mina whenever there were no volunteers. So you are free to more or less keep your head down and sulk the rest of the morning away, only managing to hop out of your chair with vigor for lunchtime because you had plans booked… and because you were hungry.

Hence you bring your two trays of food to an unusual table of unusual folk. You would typically just sit with either your Class 1-A friends, your Class 1-B friends, or the rare blend of both. Today was a mixture of a whole different sort. Unlike the second member of your little lunch party who breaks bread with you several times a week, the third member at the table would make this your first chance to have a meal with someone from Class 1-H.

>"So… What happened?" Pony asks you as you arrive, taking a bite out of a carrot she brought with her tray. Not paying much mind to the vegetarian and vegan options that Lunch Rush prepares, you didn't even notice them available at the counter… Not that you would have given up your pulled pork for them, nor the weird vegetable and legume based patties also on her plate. "We always can hang out, but you maked it sound pretty mystery."

>"Whatever it is, I hope it's fixed quickly, I have something I had to meet you about too." Mei comments, giving a confused glance to Pony for her still rough yet improving Japanese. You have to think it’s similar to the look you’re giving Mei's own lunch tray, which doesn't make any sense to you until you figure out that it would have cost exactly ¥300… Which doesn't seem to be worth the hassle to end up with plum jelly on some rice. As you work that out and settle into your seat, Mei plays around with the ill-colored mixture distractedly, more focused now on peering at your horned friend as she eats. "Hmmm. Do both of you have teeth that flat or just her? ...I'm sure I can come up with something to help you eat meat, wouldn’t even take much drilling!"

>"But I don't want to? We are too close to animals, it's weird and wrong. Almost cannibal." Pony explains, making you stop running your tongue over your teeth and roll your eyes.

"Right then! Have you heard about the upcoming I-Expo?" You quickly try to wrangle the conversation towards the reason you invited them here in the first place. You’ve had enough of discussions leaving you in the dust for the day.

>"You mean the most prestigious exhibition of support items, hero technologies and robotics of the year, where representatives of the most influential companies evaluate and bid over the most promising innovations, taking place on the largest and most secure seafaring vessel humanity has ever built; in which new technology is theorized, realized and tested far from villainous hands while in the warm, safe embrace of a community dedicated purely to scientific progress??" Mei asks, leaning further over the table with every word to the point you could have headbutted her without much trouble. The sudden change in vicinity makes you realize this is the first time you have seen the pink haired girl with her full uniform on. Had you tried to pull something similar, your lunch would be smeared across your jacket and shirt. Mei’s own garments were dangerously close as it is, her chest heaving before she takes notice of herself and quickly sits back, folding her hands in front of her. "Only in passing, really."

>"...I visited the drydock where it was builded in a field trip?" Pony offers casually, far less impressed with Mei's attitude than you would have expected. "It's near San Francisco, by the way. <It's like a floating piece of Cali!>"

"Yeah, Ah've heard something like that before… All of that. It's why Ah wanted toooo~..." You start, letting a bit of a dramatic pause build up as you slowly pull the tickets from your uniform' breast pocket. "-see if ya wanna come with me to I-Island for a week and get early access to it before the expo opens to the public? Ya know, have a taste of home and check out what the pros are cookin'?"

>"YEEEEE-!" Is all you manage to hear before Pony demonstrates her prowess at hurdle-jumping by leaping out of her seat over the table and crashing into your shoulder, sending you both and your chair straight to the floor. "You got us a vacation trip!?"

"Kinda! Ah got- Please lemme go for a second sugah, holdin' mah skirt in place is mighty uncomfortable." You try to explain. You are still in public while sitting in an horizontal chair with your legs up. Spats or not, that's a bit embarrassing. Once Pony allows you to set your chair upright and sit again, you continue. "Ah got it from the sports festival n’ thought 'bout invitin' ya both to come along! Plane tickets, hotel rooms covered and meal vouchers by the sound of it."

While Pony continues to be incomprehensible and physically giddy, skipping loudly in place next to your seat, Mei just stares at you. A neutral grin is painted across her face but otherwise she seems stunned.

>"...I-I see we understand each other, Walker." She finally reacts, trying to adopt a calm steeple but shaking too much to keep her gloved fingers touching or her hands apart. Her intense and unique eyes keep an uncanny gaze on you even as her voice wavers. "I should have expected this, you being the festival champion after all… Even bringing a witness in the form of a fellow American... State your price and I will see what I can muster together."

"Uhh… Ah just got a couple for winnin' the first place at the Sports Festival, and an extra from mah Pa." You answer, a bit weirded out. "So, ...free. Ah just thought you two would like 'em the most… A-although-"

>"O-Oh. Splendid! I accept!" Mei exhales, no longer containing her excitement and proceeding to list things while clapping her hands with each idea before lifting her bag from under her seat. "I need to prepare some samples! And a new elevator pitch! Oh, and business cards! And-"

Then a silver rod falls from her sleeve as she retrieves a couple of envelopes from her backpack.

>"...A cattle prod?" Pony voices your question before you could.

>"Don't be silly, my horned co-traveler, cattle prods aren't meant to hurt anybody!" The support class gal answers, quickly snatching up the rod and envelopes and separating the latter two and holding out the one with a purple seal. "And thus, with this certainly not being a cattle prod, and all of us already in agreement, its purpose along with this~ ...are very much not needed anymore!"

With that, Mei takes the presented paper mailer and touches it to the rod's tip. It doesn’t ignite as you’d expect, instead disintegrating to ash nigh instantly. She swats the charcoal off the table while sliding the now obviously dangerous device back up her sleeve.

"...What?" You ask, confusedly watching the resulting small smoke cloud dissipate, the remaining evidence literally floating away.

>"Huh?" Mei asks back, sporting her usual manic smile now as she presses the fat green envelope to her chest. "Oh, don’t worry yourself with any of that, you were about to say something a second or two ago, what was it?"

"Uh… Oh yeah. Ah gotta warn ya, Ah can only bring one of ya to the reception ball. And the other is likely to have to room up by themselves. Probably on different floors too. Sorry about that." You sheepishly admit.

>"A room to myself and my babies? Can she go to the dance instead?!" Mei immediately demands, pointing at the even-wider-eyed Pony, who starts nodding vigorously.

"Sure?" You answer, a smile blooming on your face as you see both of them start to geek out in their own ways.

The rest of the lunch is only a bit saner by comparison, as Pony starts going off about getting a proper pretty dress to top her Summer Break Arc, whatever that means. Meanwhile, Mei probes you for info as you eat your meal, trying to figure out what she can bring through airport security that would still dazzle investors at the Expo. You end up recommending that she ask Iida of course, as he would have the most experience visiting the island. As for the fact that he also had the best chance in preventing Mei from bringing anything that could be classified as a WMD, you keep to yourself.

>“Is he your friend from the rich hero family? Or the other one?” Mei asks, full of her usual energy as she stands to immediately start scoping out your classmate in the lunchroom and leaving her lunch long forgotten.

“...The one with the glasses.” You sigh at the déjà vu as you clean up your trays. At least she will get along with Pa…

“As for dresses, mah class is going to the mall tomorrow to stock up for the training camp. Do you want to come along and go shopping with me?” You turn back to Pony after you both watch Mei take off like a heat-seeking missile, as if locked on the signature from your friend’s engine-legs.

The reaction your American pal has to your third offer on the day was not at all what you were expecting. Instead of another enthusiastic ‘yes’ of a sort, her mouth merely quivers as her eyes start to water up, which would be hard to miss given their size. Concern washes over you for a moment before she nearly tackles you a second time in an embrace.
>>
>"<You don’t know how lucky I feel to have met you at the start of the year, and I don't know what I did to find you. I don’t know how to even say it in English, let alone in Japanese. ...I'm sure I could find a speech in a shonen manga if I had the time, but I really wasn't expecting any of this.>" She whispers to you as she nuzzles your shoulder and tightens her hug, slowly revealing the strength her petite frame hides. She manages to squeeze the air out of your lungs in what you would only call a squeak. "<...Did you just moo?>"

"That was a squeak, sugah." You tell her, returning the embrace… and the favor, getting an airy whinny that sounds straight out of a toy. "See?"

>”Yeah, I do. Squeak it is...and thank you Ushi. I’ll make it up someway, <I promise>!” Your fellow American lightly clacks her horn against one of your own before returning to her seat to clean up her dishes.

With the emotional rollercoaster today has already been, you feel like cashing in your ‘good friend’ chips from this latest horn buddy moment while you’re ahead and just coast to your big gathering slated for this weekend. But there’s also all the time after school you could use to get some other things out of the way. If you feel up to it.

What do you do?

>[You already know that a couple of your other friends are going to I-Island too, but you've only talked with Iida about it. It would be nice to coordinate with Momo before packing your bags. "So, did you get a plus one ticket as well?"]
>[Nothing is better than feeling like you did your best to be a good friend to those you care about. It's the kind of warm fuzzy feeling you can hold on for the entire day or more, like until you go to the mall the next afternoon, you can already see yourself arrive, humming along pleasantly. “Hmm~”]
>[It didn't go well the first time, but now that the almost-fight has been avoided, maybe you should try talking with Bakugo. It would be nice to talk to Uraraka too, but you have the feeling she'd rather cool down a bit longer before you butt in again. "Howdy… You were lookin' a mite angrier than usual back there..."]

What the fuck is going on with Mei? Was she going to make out a check to try to purchase our +1 ticket? And how soon can we get an RD with her? I know we’re close to one since we got offered one before.

Hey not too bad of an outcome.

Still curious about making Bakugo more, uh, normalized if we can continue to interact with him. Thus,

It’s a good feeling, caring for others and being cared for in kind, but that doesn't mean you should be content with only extending your hospitality to Pony and calling it a day... Mei too, but you hesitate to include her in your circle of friends just yet, seeing as you aren't quite sure how she views your relationship. The events at lunch did little to clear the air for you there...

So it is with another uptick in your mood and hearty meal tucked away that you return to classes, even volunteering to answer some questions to give Denki and Mina some relief from the onslaught they continued to face. Not that it was overly hostile but the teachers seem to be pushing those two in particular to adjust their habits for success and not just shaming them.

By the time the classes are over, the embarrassment of the morning is just another social hiccup of the past. Locked away in the back of your mind in favor of better emotions like your excitement to reunite with your fellow class representative. As you prance towards U.A.’s gate, it doesn’t take you long to notice it was not just Momo standing by, but all of the gals of 1-A gathered around her as well.

>"...but you all can come regardless." Momo finishes explaining before noticing you. "Hello Ushi! Would you want to join us for a stroll to clear the mind and officially put the exams behind us? It’s a bit of a tradition I have for the end of terms."

>"If she joins it will lower our odds…" Uraraka comments before you can respond, getting Kyoka to roll her eyes.

"Ah don't know what y'all're up to, but sure. Ah just came by to chat, and walks are good for that." You answer, coming to stand next to the only gal taller than you in Class 1-A. "Since we are both headin' to I-Island, Ah thought we could coordinate a bit! Book activities or tours or howeva' it goes as a group along with your plus one!… Well, maybe Ah shouldn’t presume. You got a plus one ticket as well, right?"

>"Well, that takes care of that. She isn't here for a ticket. Got one from the sports festival huh?" Kyoka announces as you nod while Mina, Toru, and Uraraka all show relief from the news in their own ways. Tsuyu conversely doesn't seem to mind in any case.

>"Since the Yaoyorozu family owns a sizable stake in several of I-Expo's sponsors, I have two spare tickets this time." Momo explains, tapping the tips of her index fingers together. "We were talking about who should get my extra tickets to the Early Access event and reception. After all, the rest of the expo is open for all those who desire to attend-"

>"-But no one wants to miss the party!" Mina interrupts, raising her arms over her head.

>”YAS! Party! Woooo!” Toru exclaims, matching Mina’s pose, as far as you can tell. "I can’t wait for everyone to see me in my dress! I have it all planned out!"
>>
>"It'd be nice to have some real vacation time before the training camp…" Uraraka remarks as you all start walking, following Momo's lead. You make sure to wave to KT1078 as you exit under the gate. As usual, it doesn't acknowledge you at all, but you are sure it just needs more time to come out of its shell.

>"I'd have to prep weeks of meals for my siblings… But it'll be worth it. Ribbit." Tsuyu muses out loud, earning a nod of approval from you.

>"With the island coming near Japan, it's kinda cheap this time to make it without a VIP ticket anyways. I'm sure my folks can cover it." Kyoka shrugs, then continues a bit softer. "But it would be nice to get in early and for free, wouldn't it?"

>"...Yeah." Uraraka agrees, sounding a bit less enthused than before.

>"Ugh… If I don't get the tickets… I'll have to do the whole puppy eyes routine to my folks!" Toru comments, her uniform shuddering. "Makes me wish I had saved some more…"

>"Hey, at least they'll do it! With my grades, I either have to get one of Momo's spares or break open my piggy bank." Mina adds, stretching her arms behind her back.

"Ah don't think it's piggy bank cheap, sugah." You point out, getting an impassive shrug from the pink gal.

>"Eh, it’s a pretty big hog. I’ve done some internet stuff that trickles in some cash, I'm fairly sure I can foot the bill." She explains getting everyone else but you to suddenly stop and look at her. "...You know, dance and fitness tutorials. Sheesh!... and the occasional 'Can I Melt It' when someone donates for it. People really like liquifying photos of their exes."

While most just sigh for some reason, Momo’s look of concern perseveres.

>"Be careful, you know that profiting from private quirk use is borderline unlawful." Momo points out.

>"...I didn't know that, actually." Mina replies, looking genuinely surprised.

"We saw that in class?" You tell her, getting a blank stare in return. "...Like, second week at the latest?"

>"Nope, still can't recall." Your fellow horned gal shrugs.

Looking at Momo, you share a glance and a shrug as well before you pick up the pace and join her at the front.

"So, where we goin'?" You ask her, looking around at the now familiar streets near U.A.

>"Oh, nowhere in particular… A park perhaps? As I said, it's a stroll to clear the mind, I didn't plan a route beforehand." She says, drifting a bit closer to you so you are literally shoulder to shoulder. "Truth to be told, I'm wondering how to choose my two companions without making anyone feel left out. Would an impartial game of chance suffice?"

"Well, if it's both of those, anyone can win 'em. No way anyone resents anythin'." You reason, looking over at the other girls, all looking excited in their own way, even Tsuyu.

>"Rock, paper, scissors then?" Momo asks you, for some reason.

"Why're you askin' me, sugah?" You ask a question of your own before answering hers. "But sure, that would do the trick… 'scept, ya know, Toru."
>>
>"Oh, I have something in mind for that." She waves it off. "Now we just need to find a seat or something simple of that ilk…"

It seems you have a few minutes…

>What do you do?

>[Well, it's nice to hang out with everyone and all, but you came to talk with Momo about the Expo. "So, seems like you've been there before… Mind if Ah tag along? It'd be more fun than prancin' 'round alone."]
>[Tsuyu's comment is really interesting… and you’ve wanted someone to talk to about cooking for a while now. "Your family really relies on you, don't they?"]
>[Uraraka was looking a lot happier a few minutes ago… Is she that upset with you or is there something else going on? "Howdy. You don't look too excited for someone with a near chance for a free vacation. Is there somethin' wrong?"]
>[It wouldn't take much to get Momo to match your pace for a moment so you could talk alone. "So, about that text you sent me a couple days ago… Ah really appreciated it. And thanks for trustin' me, partner. Long as Ah got a biscuit, you got half."]
>[Despite your efforts during the study group and the teacher’s comments from today, seems like Mina let the lesson go in one ear and out the other. Perhaps you could help her correct the course when school starts again… "If you want, Sugah, we could get together to study when we come back. How does that sound to ya?"]

Thank you PM!

I was deliberating on which girl to choose but then I realized we haven't cemented the second dice for Momo.

She could use the help. Also, the vising fee for a city-state with borders as tight as I-Island would be steep, just how many Twitch simps does Mina have? What would Kirishima think if he found out?

You came looking for Momo with the trip to I-Island at the forefront of your mind, but you aren’t about to give up the opportunity to talk in confidence with your pal. With the other gals of class 1-A busy chatting some feet behind you as Momo gives you her full attention, this feels like the perfect opportunity to do so.

"Should be somethin’ like that coming up ‘ere soon, let's pick up the pace a bit." You tell her, nudging her elbow and giving her a gentle pull as you elongate your stride. You notice you make her stumble by doing so and quickly let go of her forearm in guilt. You really need to stop doing that.

"Sorry about that. Ah just was fixin’ to say about that text you sent me a couple days ago… Ah really appreciated it. And thanks for trustin' me, partner. As long as Ah have a biscuit, you got half."

Momo’s looks taken aback for a second before breaking into a wide smile and glances down while digging into her bag for something.

>"Well, you make the most with the smallest of things, don't you? Even gestures!" Momo replies, hiding her giggling behind her left hand while offering you what she holds in her right. "Let me return the pledge then, both figuratively and in a literal fashion."

You receive a folded handkerchief, clearly containing something… Something sweet and chocolatey if your nose is still working.

"This ain't a biscuit, but Ah get your meanin'!" You respond, unfolding the soft fabric to reveal half a chocolate cookie, cleanly cleaved by knife… for some reason. Keeping true to your word, you triple its size with your quirk and promptly split it in half again before offering her back more of the treat than she gave you to begin with.

She looks at the cookie and leans towards your hand before stopping herself to cover her mouth and cough, a blush emerging on her cheeks .

>"Pardon me, it would have been most embarrassing to have contaminated it all like that ." She apologizes, gently taking the offered treat in her other hand while looking away.

"C'mon sugah, ain't that overkill?" You coax her with a playful punch to the shoulder. "Cookie's gonna be chewed up anyway, Ah don't think it'll mind."

You can't help but giggle back at your pal as you watch her nibble on it before materializing a napkin just to wipe away a few tiny crumbs. She blushes again in response, shrinking back a bit and covering her mouth again, this time with the napki-

>"So, where are we going?" Mina pops up between the two of you, making you hop a yard back in surprise. "Cuz if we are going to keep walking much longer I'd like to stop for a minute and change shoes."

>"...Just wandering currently." Momo answers, taking a step back herself. "At least until we find a good spot to sit down and settle upon who will receive the tickets."

>"Like a playground, with benches?" Your pink friend asks, pointing to her left behind Momo’s ponytail with a nonchalant tone yet flaunting her patented smug expression.

That's, indeed, a playground you almost walked past… A rather large one, with monkey bars, multiple slides and bike racks at that. Were you that distracted? At least you only missed a playground and not an oncoming truck.

"Ah... think that'll do." You point out, trying your best to sound like you saw it a while ago as you carefully store your piece of the cookie in one of your bag pockets.

>"That'll do Ushi, that'll do." Momo asserts, swerving towards the playground and it's bench, setting her backpack down on it before calling to the rest of the gals with an enthusiastic wave. "I guess we've wandered far enough. Over here everyone!"

Your excited classmates and their belongings arrive at the bench in a matter of seconds, seemingly making a race out of it… Except Mina, who throws her bag at the bench like a softball, making you flinch at the mental image of how her notebooks and pencils must look like now.

>"I win!" Mina cheers, lifting her fists over her head. "This means I get a ticket, right?"

>"I'm... afraid not?" Momo answers, puzzled. She quickly shakes it off. "I was going to suggest a game of Rock, Papers, Scissors. An impartial game of chance should help eliminate any bad feelings or perceived favoritism, right?"

>"But like…" Mina starts, counting up to three with her fingers. "We have five people and three options, right? How do you get two winners if we pick all three? Wait, is it one of those variants with like, ‘Gun’ and stuff?"

>"Simple! If you assign scores to each participant based on how many others they counter and were countered by." Momo explains, channeling her inner tutor once more. "In case the number of winners is different from two, we can then go into tie breakers, playing a seq-"

>"-You'll figure it out, got it!" Mina interrupts, her smile looking a bit forced. And she’s not alone. Somehow, even Toru was starting to look like her eyes were glazing over at Momo's explanation.

>"...It does sound a tad complicated, doesn't it? Ribbit." Tsuyu, points out.

"Yeah. Why not something simpler? Like… Up and down? With five gals playin' it'll always make groups of three and two." You suggest, extending your arm forward with your hand open, showing them each side, flipping back and forth a few times. "Two winners, three… Not winners."

>"I like that, it's much simpler. Ribbit." Tsuyu approves. "But can't it also make a group of four and a single winner?"

"...Ah'll figure it out."

>"Sure. Let's do that, then." Momo agrees, taking it in stride. "The same principle of randomness applies after all."

>"Uhm… Yaomomo?" Toru asks, apparently raising her hand if her sleeves are to be believed.

>"Here." Your friend immediately answers, pulling a small sign from the back of her left hand and handing it to the invisible girl. She gives it a spin showing a cartoonish glove on both sides, one side showing the palm and the other the back. You hadn't seen a knuckled glove before, but you don't think it was ever needed either.

>"Oh I could definitely use more of these." Toru comments, softly smacking Mina on the face with the sign a couple times before the pink gal slaps it away.

>"Let's do this before it breaks, alright?" Momo asks the girls as she takes to eating her treat once more. The others promptly form into a circle, and after a brief explanation, keep their left arms outstretched with hands balled into fists… Except Toru, who instead keeps her sign sideways, all waiting for the class president's decree. "No hard feelings!"

>"No! Hard! Feel-lings!" Your classmates chant as they prepare to make their choice simultaneously, stopping the moment the last syllable is uttered, looking at their hands.

>"THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!" Mina is the first to say anything, throttling her left wrist as if trying to choke her hand to death for making her lose. "KYAAAA-!"

>"Aw…" Tsuyu is the second, just raising her hand and tapping her chin, looking a bit disappointed.

>"Bummer…" Toru follows, her uniform slouching and her sign drooping alongside.

Uraraka and Jiro, on the other hand, are in a far more festive mood.

>"Never didn't have it." Your purple haired friend says with a fist pump and a cocky smile. "...Wait, does this mean I need to get a dress?"

>"...I need to get sooo many things ready." Uraraka comments, looking at her hand in disbelief. "I didn't think I'd win."

"Congrats! Yer goin' to America!... Sort of!" You tell them with a pair of hearty pats on the back, making Uraraka cough and Kyoka stumble. "Sorry."

>"I apologize if this upsets you, but you can still come to the island and join us after the Expo opens to the public!" Momo tries to reassure Mina, who stops her screaming to listen to her.

>"Oh I know. But I'll still be missing the fancy party on day zero, and that's a tragedy!" Mina dramatically whines. It's a moment longer before she lets go of her wrist and shakes it a bit to restore blood flow. "Aaaand I'm done. Now I just need to butcher that piggy bank."

"Ah'd count mah lucky stars if Ah were you, Mina! You're still comin’ to the camp after all this, and Mr. Aizawa made it clear that won't be a picnic either." You point out. "Might be best to make the best outta what vacations we can get."

>"Ugh. Don't remind me." Mina sighs, kicking at the dirt. "Right then, let's be happy while we can! The next term will start before we know it!"

>"If we are to make the best of this trip, and I believe we are, we should plan ahead!" Momo exclaims, sounding far too excited about the subject. Luckily for everyone present, her enthusiasm is very contagious. "Shopping, packing guides, scheduling… Lets get you all up to date on what we'll need!"

Once more you take to wandering, after giving Mina her time to change into comfier shoes of course. This time, all of you huddle together and chat about the necessities of the trip and what you want to do out on the man-made island. You share the advice you got yesterday from Iida about what to prepare for yourself while Momo helpfully points out from her own experiences what you should get on-site. It's aimless, loud and slow... and you couldn't be happier to be in the middle of it all. Even if you don't know a thing about dresses or vacation packing.

But as with all wandering, it eventually ends, this time at a rather distant train station as you decide that it was late enough for all of you to go home for the evening after noting the additional items you'll need to shop for tomorrow.

Things aren't very eventful in comparison once you get back to the house. Mostly just helping Momma make dinner for four and then reassuring Angus with many hugs that your trip to I-Island is going to be but for a few days and that you'll both be back soon. At the same time, Momma gives Uncle Rik an unending list of chores and responsibilities in order to take care of his boy and the house while you are gone. Considering she included things like 'cleaning the gutters and fridge' in there, you get the feeling she's just taking the chance to offload some things she had been putting off herself.

After a good night's rest and a morning workout with your little cousin, who was as eager to join you as you were to teach him the basics, you set out to the mall to meet up with your friends and classmates, enjoying a calm Saturday train ride, reading everyone's confirmations along with Pony's texts telling you she'll be late due to running, literally, some last-minute deliveries. Despite the ointments working wonders for your bruising, you opt to wear a half waist hoodie over your shirt for the day rather than deal with nosy questions from strangers. Doesn’t hurt that the outfit emphasized your biceps with its short sleeves.

As you approach its entrance, you’re not surprised to spot most of your class already talking amongst themselves at the pavilion you agreed to meet at right outside the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall. Particularly Iida, who stands taller than the rest and probably got here at opening hours to mentally make up for his tardiness on Thursday or some other silly yet well meaning notion like it.
>>
What does give you pause from announcing your arrival to them is, even at this distance, the bespectacled boy seems as distraught as that day’s incident with your jacket. All the while being surrounded by Ashido, Sero, Kirishima, Kaminari, Jiro… and sadly, Mineta. A quick look-see confirms that no-one else, including Asui, Fumikage and Yuga who stand to one side, is topless so it doesn’t seem like he's a repeat offender... But they all appear to be chortling about something or another in the circle while Iida stands in the middle, karate-chopping the air. It ain’t no semaphore, but it's pretty easy to tell from this distance he's giving wild ‘yes’s and ‘no’s to the group in quick succession.

For the second time in as many days, you get the sense of deja-vu, this one much older. Harkening back to your ‘day out’ with Denki, Mina, and Kirishima… You can’t help but imagine Iida going through a similar teasing you gave your red-headed classmate when you overheard him commenting on Momma.

You sort of regret that now, what with trying to throw off that part of yourself as of late… Not to even mention falsely implying Momma’s and your preferences in boys... At least, you think you made that up on the spot…

The group pulls you back from your trip down memory lane as they seem to scale up their prodding, playfully pressing him for answers. For his part, the boy just stands there, trying to not look too stupefied. With the good help and company he’s been to you, you really ought to rescue Iida from this predicament… But the whole situation makes you all sorts of curious about what your friend yapped about to get himself in such hot water with your classmates.

What do you do?

>[You don’t think there’s any clear way to approach the group without getting spotted, better to let it go, barge in and hope for the best. “Hey y'all! What’s up? We waitin' for the others here? And just why is it called ‘Wookiees’ in the first place?"]
>[Time to take the heat off Iida in the best way you know how: Being a huge distraction. Whether they let go of the issue or tell you about it, it's a win-win for you. “Aw-right, which one of you did IT?! Ah'm only gonna ask politely once, 'fess up!”] [Connive(Face), 3d10]

If there's anything we need to slap some fools around for, we should be able to pick up on it in context clues. I imagine Mineta won't be able to be subtle about it.

Also, 2nd RD with Momo, Peachy Gal achieved!... I kind of forgot to copy it over from the doc.
---

You think about how you want to approach this peculiar situation. You could always try to skulk in and eavesdrop undetected, but it would be pretty hard to do it around here. Outdoors and at midday… your quirk would’ve help, but you aren’t about to break the law just to overhear some gossip.

You then think about over-correcting for yesterday’s awkwardness with Uraraka and Bakugo and move in immediately. As Edgeshot had taught you, act decisively! No doubts, just do!… to distract the whole lot or to stand up for Iida though, your mind can't make up its...mind...

You could always just outright ignore what's happening right in front of your nose and carry on… but that’s never really suited you...nor your future vocation.

You are so absorbed in thought, racking your brain for some way to come out ahead you don’t even realize that you never stopped walking, casually bee-lining right across the plaza and up to the whole group without noticing.

You only really get back into the pilot seat when you realize that you can clearly see Iida sweating bullets as he and the rest of the gang quietly stare at you standing before them. Fortunately, your mouth also was still on auto-pilot for one final moment without appearing too strange.

“Howdy y'all!... What's going on?" You ask no one in particular and then hope none of them noticed your glazed-over expression turn in to surprise that your pie-hole didn’t immediately dig a hole for you as you retake control of your faculties.

>”Ooooh nothing!~” Mina assumes an overly-innocent pose with her hands behind her back. The same too-sweet, cotton candy expression and tone that she typically puts on when doing something she knows she shouldn't, but that also can't be pinned on her. "Just talking travel tips with Iida…"

>”R-right, what she said!” Sero smirks as he takes a step back, getting the bespectacled boy to stare darts at him, but without saying anything yet. "I heard he did some fun stuff with his free time…"

“Ya...Ah did too…” You reply puzzled, still not really getting how this is making Iida at all bothered.

>"Yeah, just chatting, that's all." Denki adds, shrugging and grinning with the same brand of brazen smugness Mina displays. "I think he's gone further than most, you know?"

>"I know of one that's closer~!" Toru's voice chirps before you spot her, or rather her clothes.

>"Oh, but the race is so cl- Wait, when did you get here? Cute outfit, by the way." Kyoka asks, starting with a devilish tone before her smirk gives way to surprise as she looks around and locates Toru's floating ensemble.

>"Thanks! But I... I've been here the whole time…" Toru comments, possibly pointing at herself. Her sleeveless top, cute as it is, gives you no real clue as to what she's doing.
>>
>"Eh, none of them are really getting anywhere." Mineta calmy asserts, sounding simply disinterested, which confuses you the most thus far. "But when they do, I’ll need all the meaty, juicy details. Pics too if there's any.~"

“..Y'all're being as confusing as astro-turf." You remark, shaking your head at the very old memory of utter betrayal from the bitter tasting faux-grass. "Can someone talk straight with me?"

>"Man, you make it sound really weird. Kinda creepy too." Kirishima points to Mineta, stepping into the center of the conversation. "We just were asking about how his da-"

>"Dude! Do-AGH!" Denki interrupts him with an elbow to the ribs, but Kirishima's quirk triggers in a fraction of a second, making it sound like Denki cracked his elbow against a cinderblock.

"<Damn>, that was fast. You’ve been practicin’!" You whistle, giving the red head a soft pat on the shoulder. Don't want to end up teary eyed like Denki.

>"Thanks! I've been focusing more on working out with it going." He answers, flexing his arm. His proud smile looking sincere and literally sharp. You can’t help but gawk for a moment. Damn, he's all fangs.

"...Good stuff, remind me to find a good stump to do some arm wrestle at when we get to the camp!" You approve, flexing in kind for a second before you remember you were trying to get some answers. "...Wait. What were y'all askin' Iida 'bout?"

>“See? Even you still have a chance, rocks-for-brains!” Mina carefully prods Kirishima as well from the other side, her shoving somehow avoiding his reflex quirk use.

>“Look who’s ta- wait. No! Don’t just throw me in like that! How do you even figure that?!" Kirishima backpedals, right out of the circle, as if he were hit harder by her words than anything else this week.

“Nah, seriously, enough of the weaselling around. What is going on?” You are starting to get peeved.

>"Everyone's asking about the date between you and Iida. Ribbit." Tsuyu says as she joins in from the sidelines. "I don't see why it's everyone's business though."

"<Oh for the love of-> it wasn't a date." You quickly point out, trying to set the record straight almost on instinct. Once with your parents was enough. "We ran 'round and had chicken on a stick."

>"To break bread together is no small matter. Few things tie souls together like sharing a meal, or cracking open a barrel." Fumikage muses, stage whispering from the side, leaning on a pillar. "A time honored tradition of those hoping to see each other again after the darkness passes and the first light of the morningtide shows itself."

>"Isn't the first light of the morning positively sparkling?" Aoyama comments, looking at and past you at once.

Even in your embarrassment, you take time to turn around and give them a distracted and confused look. Say what now?

>“Come on now Walker, from what we’ve gathered it was at least as involved as ours, wasn’t it?” Denki suggests.
>>
“Ya, and this time Iida had you, all, to, himself.” Mina leans forward and pumps the smug to overdrive. “And that's after you two went to Zoo Dreamland.”

You don’t know how to respond to any of them. With Iida still stuck with stage fright, everyone’s gazes fall upon you to respond… or retaliate.

>What do you do?

>[G-great! Not only are you in the entrance of a crowded mall, but most of your class is here pressuring you for details on things that never happened… Why not give in and hope they leave you alone!? Ushi's not great at lying and it is a good story. They can make their own inferences.

Meta side note: Ushi has been on dates with Bakugo, Iida, and Shoto, even if she didn't characterize them as such since she's a bit airheaded. The Beefbowl is getting intense.

With all of them staring, looking for some sort of confirmation of their sordid assumptions, it's hard to keep your cool. Your first instinct, born from years of similar pressure back in the U.S., was to give in, provide a vague but tantalizing answer so they can bicker about it on their own. Maybe even unzip your top for emphasis so that they, having gotten what they wanted out of the confrontation, might leave you alone.

But you aren't back in Texas. You know your classmates are good people and you know you don't want to be seen like that, especially by them, anymore. They aren't likely to pester you further if you ask them to stop; no need for any dazzling or teasing. But the rumor mill would keep on turning, energized by any sort of vehement denial...

Thus, instead of asking them to drop it and allow their curiosity and interest to spin some imaginary tale, you decide to be forthright and just tell them all about that so-called date.

"If you really want to know what happened… Well, Ah guess we've got time to kill before everyone gets here..." You start, taking center stage. "So, after mah doc's appointment to make sure Ah was fine, cuz ya know Ah've taken mah fair share of hits, Ah was seekin’ somethin' to do with the rest of mah day off..."

Despite the embarrassing moments and Iida's nitpicky yet accurate interventions (you're just thankful he finally decided to come out of his clam shell and speak up), you find yourself enjoying playing the part of storyteller. It was a sort of relief to narrate and watch your classmate's reactions to the various events of your ‘date’. From the empathetic blush and sigh from the newly arrived Momo when you recount how your jacket got busted and sent the zipper flying, to how Iida recoiled from Mineta and Denki's attempts at congratulating him when you told them all how exactly he landed face first in your cleavage.

Altogether your classmates were more compassionate regarding the mishaps than you were hoping for. All of the girls cringed as you mention running away from the concerned onlookers with the bruises on your chest, and Ashido, Asui, Koda, Shoji, and Tokoyami all showed disdain for the restaurant that refused to serve you. By the end, you think quite a few believed, or at least accepted your take on Thursday’s events and that the romantic sentiments were overblown.

Throughout it all, you can't pretend that you didn’t derive some enjoyment from watching Iida's embarrassment flare up as you described the outing. Which, in a way, makes you no different than the rest of your classmates... Still, if you weren't as tanned as you are, you'd probably look as red as he did.

"So that’s how I figured Mei would love to visit I-Island and got her set up with mah pass...And look who managed to walk in together just now~" You point out, cutting the last details of the story short as you spot the arrival of the last two stragglers of the class. "Why don'tcha go pry their story from them instead?"

Knowing that the best way to get anywhere without your own wheels is by train, it makes perfect sense to see Deku and Uraraka come walking side by side from the train station… But the situation is too perfect to not poke a bit of fun at your other oblivious classmates and finally take the attention off yourself and Iida.

>"Sorry for being late, there were some…" Deku tries to put forward an excuse but stops himself as he sees most everyone looking at them slyly. Much the same way they did to you a bit ago. "...d-did something happen?"

>"...Sure. Still sounded like a date though." With one last remark and smirk, Mina accepts your challenge. Regret immediately bubbles up in you as you watch her turn to address Deku and Uraraka. "Dunno, ...did something happen with... you two~?"

>"Uh, nope! We just met on the way here, and it's not like we can go the other way around Tokyo, right?…" Deku answers, losing steam as he notices Uraraka quickly scuttle some distance away from him.

>"Right, yes. We needed to come together. But separately …uh ...in conjunction!" Uraraka frantically nods as she gestures with her hands at such a high speed that you would have thought she arrived alongside Iida instead if you hadn't known better. "But we are here now! At the same time...but two meters apart! Because nothing happened!"

"Two friends headin’ to shop at the mall, but five feet apart cuz nothin's goin' on." You mutter, then ask. "Is that some sort of sudoku riddle or sumthin'?"

>"Not sure. I'm just keeping myself from getting bored while waiting for everyone to arrive." Your pink pal shrugs, then smiles fiendishly as she watches the new arrivals get their own share of comments, leading questions, and teasing remarks from the nosy side of the class. They end up just as flustered as Iida was by the end of it. With her work done, Mina starts skipping to the mall proper, everyone quick to follow after her into the massive open structure. "Now that we are all here, it's finally time to dive into the best venue the prefecture has to offer! The Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall!"

While everyone walks on, Iida taps your shoulder and motions with his hands for you to slow down.

>"I… apologize for letting them put you under the spotlight." Iida tells you as you lag behind the group. "I had hoped to keep that from happening and tried not to give any ground for gossip. But simple questions led to others, and those led to more that I simply couldn't… wouldn’t answer. At least not alone. Anything I could admit to would be reflected not just on me, but on you too… So I did nothing. And I see now that didn't help either. If anything it made things worse for myself and then you, when you arrived."

"Well, thank ya for not blabbermouthin' too much." You tell him earnestly, but still rolling your eyes. "And I forgive ya. Just as easy as ever... If ya ever find yourself doubtin' what to say…"

>"Yes?" The bespectacled boy asks, sounding genuinely interested in your advice.

"You can always tell the truth, silly!" You tell him, sticking out your tongue. "It ain't that hard!"

>"...Unless you have promised secrecy." He points out, with a strike of his open palm with his other hand. You almost object to his exception, then quickly remember your own experiences in discretion.

"...or sign a NDA. Heh. Things can always get more complicated, huh sugah?" You ask, then sigh. "It was… fun. Once the crushing anxiety went away that is. Still, try to not freeze up again? Made us look more guilty than a pair of stripe-wearin’ thieves."

>"Got it." He accepts with a deep nod…” Then springs back up with a smile. "So you’re still open to doing it again then?"

"Ah'm not sayin' no. But that's all." You tell him with a light shrug and smile ...then quickly clarify yourself. "To Runnin'. As pals. 'kay?"

With a normal nod this time, you both rejoin the group.

>"-betcha you won't find anywhere like this place! It's huge, but I know it all like the back of my hand." Mina proclaims. Her enthusiasm, nearly as contagious as Momo’s, makes you also giddy to enter the shopping mall as if it was the first one you've been to despite the fact you had already visited it before. "Whatever you need to know, find, or pick up for the trip, just ask and I can point you in the right direction! So ask away!"

"Why's it named ‘Wookiees’?" You ask excitedly, pointing back at the entrance sign you just left behind.

>"...Any other questions?" Mina asks after a small pause.

Despite your self imposed guide's offer, the abundance of signs seems to make any questions pointless for you and most of your classmates.

>"Hey, you! The young man with the six mighty arms! You too with the exceptional calves!" A shopkeeper hollers from an apparel store. "Why don't you bring your whole party 'ere? We have everything you'll need You too, northerner! I know how hard it is to find a good top for your people!"

>"Hey! Aren't those U.A.’s First years?!" Someone in the crowd asks right after, making everyone around stop for a second to turn and scrutinize you and your classmates… and then the crowd erupts. One part cheers and another praise, their supportive yet loud ovations overlap one another. Yet the message was still abundantly clear: "YOU WERE AWESOME AT THE SPORTS FESTIVAL!!!"

Pride swells inside you, enough for you to ignore a few 'she's even bigger in person' and similar comments you make out in the general din of the mall.

>"People still remember all that…?" Uraraka wonders, having given the now dispersing crowd a wave.

There's just no ruining this day, you think to yourself with a nod, a smile, and a thumbsup of your own to the people who congratulate you on winning as they pass by.

>"I kinda have everything I need already, just need a large bag to bring it all." Kyoka muses aloud before making a box shape with her hands while pointing at you with her ear jacks. "Think I could get any one from the bargain bin and just ask a certain pal to get it to size?"

>"Come now Jiro, it can't be that hard to just find a suitable duffel bag, I'll help you look out for one." Momo tells her, then looks to you. "Although, if you want to join us Ushi,… I'd be more than glad to have you."

>"We." Kyoka proudly corrects her, then gives a pout. "Come on Yaomomo, you need to be more condescending, it doesn't feel as good as it should to police your grammar when you are always so helpful."

>"I'm… Not apologizing for that. I think..." Momo tells her, giving it far more thought than it deserved.

Nearby, other groups of your classmates with various but relatively aligned goals start to form.

>"Anyone else needs outdoor shoes? I don't have anything that fits the description, so…" Denki asks, pointing out a shoe store on the fourth floor.

>"Oh! Me! Me! I have nothing with ankle support!" Toru joins him.

>"The manual recommends well worn footwear we are used to, but flattened soles won't help us either… Should we pick up new footwear for the occasion? Woodland terrain can be treacherous!" Iida rambles about the manual in a way you would have expected from Deku.

>"I'll pass, I need to get some things for my own list." Mineta absentmindedly remarks, walking off. "Now where to find hand drills, lockpicks and jigglers?"

>"I need to pick up some new weights to bring with me, how about you, Urara-" Deku asks, but is interrupted by her answer before he can finish.

>"BUUUGGG-" She yells as she runs away, leaving you as confused as the green haired boy, who is left standing pointing at himself and mouthing the word 'bug?'. You give a sympathetic shrug while you send a quick text to Pony so she knows to get in touch when she arrives.

With that handled, you weigh your options for the moment. There'll be time to check out the rest of the mall… and its food court!

>[Other than a single barbell and the weights Mina got you for your birthday, you still don't have much in the way of dedicated training equipment. Joining Deku is nigh guaranteed to fix that… after some deliberative sessions of mumbling of course!]
>[Having your blood and sweat be on the sweeter side is typically not an issue for your day to day activities. But when it comes to going camping in the wilderness where there’s a whole lot more mosquitoes, it can become a real nightmare to deal with. It's a good enough excuse to check on and join Uraraka… And acquire some gear to keep your blood yours.]

it would be rude to invite her and then not take responsebility since she doesn't really know our class. I'd say this counts as 'hosts duty'.

I agree with >>4729365 that Pony is our responsibility since we invited her so we should bring her over if she agrees, or hang with her if she doesn't. Some Pony-Momo-Kyoka interactions should be fun.

>>[Other than a single barbell and the weights Mina got you for your birthday, you still don't have much in the way of dedicated training equipment. Joining Deku is nigh guaranteed to fix that… after some deliberative sessions of mumbling of course!]
