>(You) are a recently hired Administrator for [THE COMPANY]. You're in the middle of a work day at the moment, and you're trying to keep up with everything. Your role as an Administrator is to contain otherworldly abominations in your [FACILITY] while figuring out how to profit off them. Things are going smoothly today, fortunately.

It's Friday Afternoon. Tomorrow, your superiors will probably be calling you up to ask you to accept a new monster. So far, you've been learning more about your first subject: "L1-AT- The Hungry", but the Wendigo doesn't seem to be providing immediate monetary gains.

You've also just managed to survive a strange occurrence known as an 'Echidna Event', and your workplace is still disrupted from it.

> Threat levels:
Safe, Easy to contain
Alpha Hard to contain
Omega Killing this thing would be easier than containment

Corrections:

In a Quest about researching Monsters and babbling out pseudo-scientific data, mistakes are bound to arise. Especially because of improper note taking and contradictions on my end, that might unfairly make things harder to figure out. Or small details I add that might serve as unintentional Red Herrings. I've gone through the threads to check these out and make a proper errata. These will serve as retcons and as the canon info.

> The Hungry turning a cube to dust

A quick search from Oscar reveals that it wasn't due to anything special. Tin just does that at sufficiently low temperature. It was a quirk of the metal, not the monster. Still, it's possible that it could achieve the same thing by itself, like how liquid nitrogen can be used to break rocks.

> The issue of blood

The Hungry's blood does, in fact, seem to be invasive. Ty mentioned that a human doesn't get infected just by blood-to-blood contact, zombie style. However, he's not sure about repeated ingestions and applications. From your tests, you've noted that its cells seem to 'eat' any dead cells that it comes into contact with, eventually turning it into a half-digested slurry. When you injected it into a pig, it turned it aggressive and feral, yet healed up a wound that it had.

And now, on to the actual update!

You give things a little while to wind down. It's the first time one of your employees has gotten hurt. You've been careful so far, but these things are unavoidable, you suppose. You give Jim some time to recover, and Oscar helps to patch up his wound. John comes by as well to examine his prison bro, watching over him and asking questions about what happened. While it hurts, the man doesn't seem to begrudge his injury too much. The falling icicle was an unforeseen threat, and it's not like you sent him in on an explicit suicide mission. He takes it in stride, but mentions to you that he might be out of commission for a while. Oscar is quite concerned about it, and also tells you there's no infection or anything strange about the wound.

Viktor and Jeremy try once again to get rid of the ice. They manage to blast the ceiling and heat up the cell enough that the ice can't sustain itself any longer. Noticeably, as before, the fire didn't destroy the ice instantaneously like it ought to have. Must be some wacky tabacky magic bullshit that The Hungry has.

And speaking of your subject, it's still a nugget on the floor, and hasn't recovered yet. The Antler shard is still unclaimed.

In the meantime, you've sent the metrics for your power usage to [THE COMPANY]. You confirm that the kettle is generating enough energy to power part of your [FACILITY] and reduce the cost of operations. As a reward, you're granted an increase in pay! Operation Kettle Turbine is a success, and you'll be getting an additional 300 credits each payday from now on, provided you can keep it running. That means you'll have to aggravate it sufficiently each week. The only consequences to neglecting the Wendigo is that your pay will drop back to $1500 on periods where you don't generate enough kettle energy.

Glad to be back! I miraculously have a different schedule now, and enough free time at home to be able to update a drawquest reliably again.

I did make a stupid error with the thread name though. I made the mistake of using autofill for the tripcode, and for some reason it turned the thread name back into 'Monster Facility Builder 2' since it filled up the info from the last thread. Combined with my earlier fuckup in the archives, the threads are now titled: 1, 2, 2, and the archived versions are gonna be: 1, 1, 3.

Goddammit.

Jeremy and Viktor slowly approach your subject, careful not to aggravate it. They don't fire at it again. It mumbles softly, shuddering and shivering. The temperature drops as its limbless body begins thrashing around. Luckily, the two of them manage to obtain the antler without further issue! They use their nightsticks to pull it closer, and then kick it towards the door. Viktor leaves to go put down the pig, like you ordered, and Jeremy stays in the cell to watch over The Hungry. He asks if you'd like to get any more samples once Viktor arrives again. So far you have tiny amounts of flesh, blood, hair, and now an antler. But no major harvest.

Oscar also asks if you'd like her to harvest the antifreezing agent from the blood, or examine the antler. Each will take three hours, excluding the lunch break from 12-1. Getting the agent will let you submit it to corporate as a possible source of income.

Despite the hog now being feral, it doesn't take much to kill it. Viktor is an expert, and frankly, you'd find it embarrassing if your trained, $325 credit security personnel got killed by a wild boar. He dispatches it with one quick shot to the head, so fast that you can hardly track it. The man pretends that there's smoke at the end of the barrel and blows it off. The worker who was upgrading the cell seems impressed.

The antifreezing agent from the blood seems more immediately useful. So let's study that. Let's also get someone to do an autopsy on the now-deceased pig to see how fucked up it's biology is now.

> Upgrades C1:
- Feeding Chute
- Sparking mechanisms to flame remotely
- General toughening
- Soundproofing
- Ventilation control to cut off circulation
- Remote heating
- Industrial dehumidifier

C2 is un-upgraded. At the end of Friday, the workers will be done repairing C1 and the stairwell to the Archives.

To perform an autopsy on the pig, you'll need Oscar (the researcher) to dedicate time to it instead of pursuing the other options.

You could also try and have her teach somebody in the Facility to oversee the process of extracting antifreeze. But there's a high chance that they'll mess up and cause contamination, or have the process fail.
>>

Eh. Let's just put the autopsy on the "high priority but also we need money first" list. Until that can happen, just put it somewhere secure first. Just in storage or something. Forgot we had one researcher for a moment.

"Oscar, keep up with the harvesting. The sooner we can get something concrete, the better."

> "Roger."

She spends a couple minutes finishing up Jim's treatment. Afterwards, she sends him upstairs, ordering the others to not come down unless necessary. The construction noise is bad enough already, for her focus, but she can get it done. She decides to work through lunch and take her break later, because she's really interested in the process. You ask her to describe it for a bit, so you can vaguely get what she's trying to do.

Her goal here is to filter the blood and get the compound that prevents its cells from freezing. It seems that the substance itself is at an extremely low temperature, yet doesn't freeze. It's both the source of the cold, and what prevents the rest of the blood from turning into a slushie. If you can get it out, it'll serve as an extremely effective supercoolant. You'll be able to get enough to send a sample to [THE COMPANY], and still have a portion for your own experimentation.

Isn't that just kinda like liquid Nitrogen? You ask. Fuck no, she says. It's different. Somehow. It's something that can net you some money. You decide not to look a gift horse in the mouth and leave her to her work.

You lower the temperature of C1 to ensure that the pig body doesn't decompose too much. Oscar is going to have to conduct the autopsy later. In the meantime, you should think of something to do while everyone is eating lunch.

Chanstopher Chris is still tied up. Nobody seems to want to bring him to the cafeteria to feed him. He's gurgling and beginning to whine in the lobby. Should you send someone to bother?

Additionally, The Hungry has managed to get itself in an upright position against the wall. It doesn't move, but you notice the walls icing over throughout the hour. It's trying to freeze the room. You don't have access to humidifiers in C2 to stop it from utilising its cryokinesis, so the only option is to deal with it manually if need be.

Hrm. If it gets any worse, we might have to send someone into the Hungry's cell to deal with the frost. But for now, just get a random expendable to feed Christopher. He's just barely worth it more alive than dead.

FUCKING FUCK. Get the chef to prepare enough food to make a trail to lead em back to the base, and move the pig out of the room, it doesn't matter where exactly, just not where the wendigo is. Can we get a new heavy duty all purpose cell that can be used for temporary containment/moving monsters so we can clean/modify their cells?
>>
>>4872510
How are we gonna get a car through the elevator?
I say we instead do tests by firing at some of the flesh and see if we can manage to mold it into a plate shape that can be inserted into slots, it could be a good low caliber level bullet proof armor that can heal back up, for the vehicle armor try to see just how much it can regenerate/harden after small arms fire and if it's high enough to protect against it then send the data to [The Company]
>>
>>4872636
Out of all of the weird shit in this quest, a bike in the ground is the odd man out?
>>
>>4872648
That's why I said a motorbike. Probably cheaper and could probably fit in the elevator. Nevertheless, the idea of having armor out of it might be interesting, but the main issue is getting enough of it to make armor to begin with. It's one thing to prove that it can work. It's another to harvest from the entity itself.
>>
>>4872649
Good point
>>
>>4872650
If it gets hard to harvest from one then you can make more, maybe even set up a factory to tear them apart right when they heal up from the last harvest, you could power it purely from the kettle generators they'd be powering

Oh, yeah. The plan anons made from last thread was to gather up enough of its flesh to shoot at. Because its meat had certain properties, they ordered a AT4 CS and M82 .50 BMG from HQ to test the heavy firepower on it. Normally, those weapons would have cost credits. But they were free because they’re part of the research grant for this project.

>>4872644

Getting a new cell will cost the usual price. + an extra $100 to upgrade it, which can be done at the time of its creation.

On Saturday, [THE COMPANY] will be requesting that you accept a new monster. Construction of a cell for it will be done on Sunday if you accept, and it’ll arrive on Monday. So that’s the opportunity for a whole new cell and another monster to get income from.

Update coming in a bit, just woke up.
>>
>>4872790
Ah, fair enough. We'll probably focus on that when we get the antifreeze agent and subdue the piss baby. I will refuse to call it anything else. It is a piss baby.

Jokey jokes aside, I fear for the day we get something that would fall underneath the OD (Omega Dragon) label.
>>
>>4872790
Can we give the company any specifications for the free cell so that we don't have to wait to upgrade it with basic things like a feeding chute and a gassing mechanism

Yes, you can have the upgrades made along with the free cell for an extra $100.

Funny fact about that, actually. In the previous threads, I was desperately trying to signal and hint that it would be possible to build C2 with all the necessary upgrades, and then straight away transfer L1-AT into it. But instead, the decision was made to wait for C2 to be built over one day, move the monster into C2, spend another day upgrading C1, and then moving it back into the original, upgraded cell.

It was very painful, but in the interest of not backseating and railroading my own Quest, I let it happen.

>>4871926
>>4872483

You order John to go get some food and water for Chanstopher. The psycho continues mumbling about how 'hungy' he is. You can tell that your Expendable is very annoyed about having to do this, but doesn't complain. He forcefully stuffs mouthfuls of mashed potatoes and bread into the restrained man's mouth, careful not to let his disgusting, greasy stubble come into contact with his hand.

Once he tips some water into his mouth, however, disaster strikes. The man burps loudly, causing John to shy away from the smell. He continues burping, regurgitating puke all over the restraint bed and onto the floor. You pinch the bridge of your nose in annoyance as you watch this. Jesus Christ, what a wreck of a human. Chuck is gonna be busy with that later.

You get the security staff to transport the hog body out of the room, into the Archives. The Construction worker who's working on it is nearly done fixing up the stairway. He just needs a few more hours, and access between the Archives and Storage room will be restored! And as for the worker down below, he lets Manny know that he's done fixing up the doors that were damaged in the [ECHIDNA EVENT]. The room is containment-worthy again, and can fit The Hungry.

>>4872666

The Hungry doesn't respond to the question. It seems to hold little interest for much aside from food and its strange little deals. It seems a bit aggravated by its state, and earlier treatment. The ice continues to crawl throughout the room. Noticeably, the stumps on its limbs have been sealed over by caps of ice. It remains perfectly still.

The kettle outside churns away nicely, due to its aggravated state. Trying to calm it down with music would make it easier to transport with the breadcrumb method, if successful. However, it would reduce the power generation from the kettle. Attempting to lead it back to C1 will force Oscar to pause her work as well.

Seems like getting a bike wins out. You put in an order. It'll come by tomorrow, along with the heavy weaponry that the Metamaterials and Vehicular division of [THE COMPANY] is providing you. This whole research grant thing is great. You could probably get away with using it outside of its intended purpose if needed. And that means you have some huge goddamn guns in the event of a breach.

You decide to play some soothing music despite its response. You find an extended loop of it. The last time, it didn't respond too well to the song, but that was probably because you subjected it to the music for hours on end without monitoring its reaction. Today, you decide to be more careful about it. And true enough, you can see the kettle slowing down in its movement. The tea within sloshes as the device shakes about. That should mean that the monster is getting less aggressive. The Hungry stops shaking so much, though ice continues to creep throughout the room. It seems like it's trying to ice over every surface and turn the cell into a hazard zone.

Chuck cleans up the lobby of vomit while your expendables hang out in the storage room. They seem to be chatting about Jim's injury. Your security boys are watching over the corpse and ensuring the construction workers don't go too close to it. Viktor seems to be expecting it to leap up and attack them at any moment.

And finally, Oscar is done! She's harvested two vials of fluid. They're kept in thermoregulated containers. She reports that when she tried to handle the liquid earlier, it almost flash-froze her gloves to the vials. You'll be automatically sending one to HQ at the end of the day, and they'll get back to you tomorrow regarding how much they can pay you for batches. She's ready to begin work once again- Right after she takes a break.

Not sure how we'd get it back into C1 without any equipment like a forklift, the thing probably weighs a ton at least. And even if we could lift it, it can still bite. Your boys head into the cell and prepare to grab this bastard. They bring a Schrodinger's crate of supplies with them. Within it are objects that could be used to drag or transport it. Anything reasonable or not overly specific could be inside. Like carabiner clips, ropes, etc. They observe and wait while you think up a technique for transporting it. It's not fully mobile yet, but still capable of snapping and lashing out in this form. And it even starts to speak.

"Hungry... Come. Have you sent me food? Come here. Yes... Two. Two of you. Will do. So cold..."

> "Jesus. Boss, the ice is coating the cell. It's a bit of a hazard."

Hell no. Oscar pushed her lunch break aside to get your samples to you as early as possible, it would be a shoddy way of repaying her if you forced her to completely forego that break. She happily heads up to eat after decontaminating herself thoroughly.

You zoom in on the cell. The area is slick with ice, and walking onto it is dangerous. L1-AT has sealed up its gaping wounds with ice. You also recall its way of locomotion that it showed earlier: That technique where it dissipates into gas to gain bursts of speed for a moment. You're not sure if it can do that while dismembered.

We can finally get rid of that cunt
>>
Feeding it live humans makes it stronger, remember?
Also I'm paranoid that chan might be being influenced into shifting to wendy mode, didnt Ty tell us that having an isolated non-social individual near a wendy's influence can turn them without them ever ingesting flesh? With the way he was muttering about being hungry, and then puking up the food I have fear
>>
Let's just tell it that if it follows us back to the other cell without any issue, it can get some more food. If it refuses, use force.
>>
>>4873201
This is pretty dangerous, if it decides to ignore our orders we got a giant cannibal monster running wild in the facility, which would not be good. Maybe blow off its reforming legs and arms and then drag it, but then that pisses it off at us, maybe permanently. Definitely don't feed it Chan.
>>
>>4873551
Yeah, maybe all those voices are all the people its eaten. It could be that whoever it eats alive, whole, or at all gets their soul melded together into it which causes another source of hunger for it which could be why the more it eats the more it hungers
>>
>>4873471
O wait, shit. Pencils in a swift execution for the guy, if we don't use him in 2-3 days.

>>4873201
Whatever we do, we aren't feeding it the guy, I say we tell him there is food in the other room but if we wants it he needs to comply, and throw in half a chicken in the original cell. If he doesn't, riddle him with bullets. Also light some incense sticks if we have any left.

Should we get some sort of copper/bronze (I forgot the exact type of metla) sawblade launcher so we can just decapitate the bastard at range in the future?
>>
>>4873799
Copper is the stuff that supposedly works well against the pissbaby. I would probably go with spikes or something instead of sawblades, personally, but eh.
>>
>>4873803
>>4873799
Yeah sawblades would slow down and get stuck before doing *too* much damage bullets work far better
Though what would be by far the best is hollow point copper bullets, they have ***tons*** more stopping power than normal bullets, ***tons*** more killing power, and won't need an entirely new gun to fire
> Hollow and soft point bullets can produce enormous carnage inside of a target. Instead of passing straight through a target like their full metal jacket counterparts, they expand, fragment and shred. Soft point bullets are also known to bounce around inside of a target as well. One bullet can cause multiple injuries in different locations. This increases the chances of stopping a target dead in their tracks right away.
They're also better for experimentation because they're easier to remove from any chuck we happen to be studying
>https://www.survivalkit.com/blog/whats-the-difference-between-hollow-point-and-other-ammunition/
>These types of bullets are also less likely to produce an exit wound. The bullet flattens and expands after impact. The best analogy do describe this is to think of what happens when you open up an umbrella. Then, the lead in the center of the bullet will disintegrate whereas pieces of the soft metal can produce shards and break free, all while the diameter of the bullet will expand significantly.
Keep in mind that soft point bullets produce fewer fragments than their hollow point counterparts. This is one reason that these bullets are excellent for hunting. Wounds tend to be far more devastating than with full metal jacket bullets, but the soft point bullets are easier to remove in most cases
>>
>>4873803
Actually maybe copper is effective on it because it's one of the metals that kill cells that are in contact with it, just very slowy; in fact IIRC ionized copper is the slowest, silver is the middle, and brass is the fastest, so maybe we can test to see if silver and brass are also effective againt it? Though even if they're more effective they're also softer so they may not replace the copper
>>
>>4873963
Considering it's voodoo mystique bullshit, I wouldn't be shocked if diluting the copper would hamper it's effectiveness. We should probably harvest some more tissue samples and test other metals on it, though.
>>
>>4873974
Right now we're using copper coated bullets so hollow points should work even better than what we're using right now

The duo set up a bunch of smudge sticks to ward it off from the upstairs layers. Afterwards, they return and order it out of the cell, with the promise of food if it complies. A chicken is dumped in the cell, providing the smell of meat to entice the creature.

"Hungry... So hungry. Food... Not enough. Live. Need... Fresh meat. Give?"

Initially, it has some trouble moving when ordered. But it reveals that it can crawl forward pathetically on its stumpy limbs. The skull snaps upright, looking around and flickering from one direction to the next in an instant. It seems to be doing that thing again, where portions of its body turn into gas and flicker about. It pauses right in the middle of the room. The kettle begins to rumble, shaking more and more over time.

"Meat... Live- so cold. No, no, hungry. Live meat. A promise? An exchange.

Jeremy yells for it to get a move on, but it refuses to budge. It looks up, waiting for a response from the ceiling, like its always gotten.

For fuck's sake, we need to set some boundaries for feeding soon before we end up like the tribe from the story.
I propose the following: standard feeding is either a plate of chicken, or live chicken for a week of good behavior. Chunks of human are to be used when transferring the creature, or live bait such as pigs, which is preferred.

"Meat for good behaviour. Go to the cell and get your reward."

"MEAAAT! STARVING. YES.... LIVE... MEAT..."

It charges forward, startling Jeremy and Viktor. You open up the airlock doors for it, allowing it to barrel through before it decides to change direction. Even while limbless, it's surprisingly swift. At one point, its entire body turns to gas and jolts forward. It lasts for only a moment, and when it solidifies, the momentum is preserved. The Hungry slams into the closed airlock door with all its bulk and roars in fury, trying desperately to get back into the cell. If it had lunged at either of your Security staff with that speed, there's nothing they could have done to stop themselves from being horribly mauled.

> "Fuck. That was a close one."

Jeremy remarks.

You open up the second door and allow it back into C1. The Monster's excitement peaks for a moment as it spots the pink carcass, and then it freezes up.

"What... Is this...?

It slams its skull down onto the chicken, gulping it down and crushing it between its jaws. The Wendigo looks around the room, its chest rising and falling. It throws its head back and screams. It's a horrid, piercing noise, the likes of which you've never heard from it before. Not even at its most distressed. It slams its half-broken antlers against the metal, rolling around with its limbless body and roaring in fury.

"LIES. DEAD MEAT. NOT ENOUGH... NOT ENOUGH... SO HUNGRY..."'

The intercom crackles to life.

"We will give you even more meat if you are a good specimen, even alive if you were extremely-"

"NO!"

It slams its head onto the ground again. The creature's head twitches, snapping from one position to the next, over and over in the span of a single second. It looks like it's about to go completely batshit. Technically, you didn't lie to it, but it was under the impression it was about to get a live meal anyway. Physically, it's not as dangerous as it was with all its limbs. But you've never seen it this aggressive before.

"Too long... TOO HUNGRY. KILL... RIP... CRUSH... EAT. NO MORE SPEAKING.

In other news, Oscar is finished with lunch. She's ready to begin the dissection. She'll proceed with it as long as no change in plans is provided, and she'd like to know what room she can use.

Oh jesus fucking christ, it's babyraging. Do we have any live animals in storage or is it all dead meat? And no, I don't count Chris as an animal. Barely.
>>
>>4876263

There's a supply of lab rats, but nothing apart from that. Monkeys are arriving tomorrow, and the pending orders list is still open to additions.
>>
How many rats do we have exactly?
>>
>>4876292

Didn't really think of a set amount, but I'd say probably 15 or so.
>>
Hm. First off, we should probably order more pigs to feed this fucker. I only see two options. Either we grab a fuck ton of rats and toss them in or we try beating it up more until it stops moving. We don't really any other option. Also I still want to do the autospy but we might not be able to if the stairs are still fucked and the pissbaby is babyraging.

Let's just toss in, like, 10 rats to see if that placates it and place an order for some more along with the pigs. Maybe also a chicken or two.
>>
Let's toss 5 alive rats, and half a chicken, if it doesn't calm him down, then other 5 rats
>>
>>4876304
The fucker wants living meat, I think dead meat is just going to piss it off even more.
>>
>>4876305
The rats are alive so he can get the pleasure, the chicken is to make him more "full" and don't bitches about more rats
>>
>>4876297
NO PIGS, MAXIMUM STANDARD IS A DEAD CHICKEN. Live chickens can be swapped if he consistently fucks with everything.

At least we are getting power for this.
>>
>>4876335
Shit okay. I still think we should order some more chicken and lab rats if we're going through with the plan of "handful of rats and a chicken". There's also the issue of the autopsy. Can Oscar even access the room the pig is stored at considering the stairs are fucked?
>>
>>4876257
Tell Oscar that she can use whatever room is most convenient. Up the temperature in the cell to the max it can go without causing physical harm, lets see if that calms it down at all. Keep some lab rats at the ready and use the intercom to tell the hungry this:
>I promised you meat, which you got. I didn't promise it would still be alive. If you calm down and cooperate, I will provide you with live samples, and if you continue to cooperate, you will receive more live and dead meat at my discretion. Don't call me a liar when I have been nothing but courteous and truthful with you.
Then we wait and see what it does.
>>
>>4876362
He will not give a shit about a speech, he could break it whenever he feels like it, we need to stop thinking of treating it as a human, we need to treat it as a dog with very simple commands and by training
>>
>>4876376
The thing is it's not a dog, its a rabid beast with humanlike intelligence thats constantly starving with superpowers. Communicating with it costs us nothing and can and has gained us a lot of good things, such as it willingly giving us flesh and blood, and cooperating in return for food. I see no reason as to why we should dumb down our talks with it. I am down to try training it though, if you or anyone else has good ideas on how to go about it.
>>
>>4876422
I have no idea how you would train something like this aside from "hey do this and we'll give you a wheelborrow filled with bull organs" but I feel like that'll just end up making it beg for ten humans a day.
>>
>>4876436
Yeah I feel the same way. Theres been plenty of hints and evidence that the more we give, the more it wants to take. Maybe some negative reinforcement is in order...

Proposal in modifying our threat level system, mostly adding ranks and better descriptors/examples.

Safe: Easy containment: Basic cell, may self-contain.
Alpha: Hard containment: Specialized cell, some specialized things to use.
Gamma: Extreme containment: Requires costly handling and security procedures.
Omega: Almost Impossible to contain: Teleporters, ignores walls, requires resources equivalent to a room built each month to contain.

Lamb: No threat (Balls that multiply when sung to, sheep with addictive meat)
Wolf: Threat, low (Immortal constantly pissed-off doberman, person that can cloak)
Tiger: Threat high (Our Pissbaby)
Apex: Extreme: (Dragons, Self-replicating cake that doubles every 5 minutes)

"I promised you meat, which you got. I didn't promise it would still be alive. If you calm down and cooperate-"

The intercom is cut off by a burst of frost that cakes the inside of the room. Ice crystalizes in the air and sweeps about in vast arcs. It buffets the camera and microphone, as the heating in the cell battles with the cold temperatures. Spikes of ice rise from the ground, and the ventilation systems shudder in protest. Jeremy and Viktor report that the temperature of the surrounding rooms have dropped significantly.

Shit.

You quickly utilise the feeding chute in an attempt to calm it down. By now, the stairs have been repaired, so you get Jim and John to bring the rats and meat down, and stuff it into the airlock chute. It's deployed into the cell without needing to open it up. Just like the security guards, the D-boys comment on the freezing temperature, and the fact that they're being struck by the same aura that churns their stomachs and angers them out of nowhere.

The food plops down within the cell and is flash-frozen almost instantly. The Hungry turns towards it for a moment, before diving down and greedily slurping up the creatures. Chunks of frozen blood sprinkle onto the floor like potato chip crumbs. The handful of rats don't seem to satisfy it any longer, though.

"Very well... It has been long enough. So... Hungry... Cold... There will be no deal. No exchange.

Ice begins coalescing along its limbs. You see the capped-off stumps elongating and growing thicker, and the beast begins straightening itself upright in the middle of the room.

"I will simply TAKE."

A few rooms away, Oscar cuts into the pig carcass. Her workstation has been set up inside C2, and apart from the ice marring one wall, it's a decent environment to work in.

You flick the gas on, filling it with the flammable substance. The Hungry pushes itself back up. The ice has managed to wrap around its limbs, replacing its missing arms and legs with frozen prosthetics. They still look deadly sharp, and the ends glisten menacingly. As soon as the door opens up, it turns its head towards the guards and bears down on them. It turns into its misty state, shooting forward to slash at Jeremy. The guard raises his flamethrower and tries to get a burst of flame off before it can rip him to shreds. It seems a bit slower, due to the gas flooding the room.

Behind him, Viktor lines up a shot with his copper-loaded assault rifle, waiting till Jeremy isn't directly in the line of fire.

First roll of the Quest!

I spent a bit of time thinking up how combat works. There's definitely precautions and tactics that can be taken to guarantee successes. For example, some kind of kryptonite weakness. But for some cases, it'll probably come down to raw luck and reflexes. This is one of them, where the two guards are directly clashing against the physical feats a Monster can pull off. So a roll will be necessary.

Roll 3d10 three times! One per anon, preferably. The first roll will represent Jeremy, second Viktor, and the third The Hungry. There's no strict HP system, but different entities can tolerate different levels of punishment.

Rather than getting cleaved in half, Jeremy only receives a gouge to his chest. It's a full-power blow that could have killed him instantly if he didn't manage to get out of the way, but he's still hurt rather bad. Despite it, his spirit isn't broken. He immediately blasts the beast with his flamethrower as he sails through the air, slamming into Viktor. The gas is set alight, and The Hungry roars in pain, pulling back and defending itself against the flames. Its icy limbs don't melt instantly, but they're gradually being worn down.

Viktor gets off a few shots before Jeremy is slammed into him. The copper bullets rip into the monster's body, leaving trails of icy blood to run down. You watch closely on the screen. That definitely seems to have drawn blood, at least, but it's too bulky to be immediately dissuaded by the rounds. It doesn't help that he didn't manage to get a full burst off.

Jeremy, though he's battered as hell, is trying to struggle back to his feet. Viktor wraps an arm around him and starts pulling him out, yelling to you over the comms.

Viktor pulls his wounded comrade out, and you slam the door down. In the enclosed space, the gas is able to flood into the room. As The Hungry swats at the fire and tries to break the piping, enough gas floods in for the second stream to ignite, forcing it to its knees as flames eat away at its body. It screams and claws wildly at the walls, trying to do damage before its limbs completely melt away. The ice is already steadily eroding. You can't stock enough gas to just have a 24/7 stream of fire inside, unfortunately, but you can keep burning this bastard for quite a while to suppress him. It's an in-game hour of constant blasting.

[Gas levels at 75%, 45 minutes left]

> How long do you use the flamers for?

Jim and John rush to the scene as the bloody security guards limp into the kettle room. They head over to help out, bringing first-aid supplies and pressing on Jeremy's wounds. All four of them seem rattled by the encounter. The expendables were watching from the Archive computer. It's still cold as hell in the room, but it's warming up.

Oscar somehow hasn't noticed any of this. She's still dissecting the pig and taking notes, examining it under a microscope and swapping gloves often.

You call Oscar away from her work. She sets the body down by the ice, requesting that you crank the AC as cold as it can get, and seal the room up. She can get back to it later, but will have to leave it overnight at this point. After decontamination, she heads into the room to deal with Jeremy's injuries. The claws have ripped right through the bulletproof vest, shredding the material effortlessly and ripping into the chest underneath. The tips have dragged across his ribs, leaving aching lines with black tissue around the edges. It seems like the freezing temperatures necrotised his flesh. Both of the security personnel's teeth are chattering.

You keep the gas on for a bit more, bathing it in flames until you can no longer see the monster. Abruptly, there's a crash from within the cell. The fires clear, and you see the silhouette of the Wendigo receding from the ceiling. Its managed to bend one of the pipes by slamming into it, disrupting the flow for a bit. It crawls towards the far wall, huddling against it and trying to escape the fire. Its arms have melted down, but the legs are still thawing out. The residual ice and snow in the cell is gone, at least.

Its body is burnt and charred as well. The wounds on its arms have reopened, and blood drips down onto the ground. You can keep the gas on and fill the rest of the room to blast it again, or stop here for now.

I'd say that for the sake of resource management and spending, you've gotta hire for own stuff and spend credits for things like that. So it'd just be getting a new batch of security staff and having them carry that out.

Hooking it up to a system like that would be a cell, + a $100 renovation package. So $450 and an assigned space for it.

Smudge smog: We constantly pipe smudge stick fumes into the wendigo's chamber.

We should the money on other things first, but I'm definitely voting for a doctor sooner rather than later, if the employees are mad about the bunks, try to come up with the least assholeish way to point out a doctor is more important for keeping them alive.

Why do our D-bois have different types of explosive collars? One has the exploding helmet, but one looks like he has one just to blow up his eyeball.

You consider trying to negotiate with it again. It ought to be simple. Order it to stop throwing a fit, or get the flamer. But you realise that it broke the intercom on its own. No skin off your back, you'll just let the rest of the gas do its work.

By the time the gas is used up, The Hungry is on the ground, shuddering and shivering as an inert torso once again. Its body is covered in singed flesh and burn marks, and an ashy layer of soot covers its skull. The cell is messy and covered in black cinders that paint the walls. Once more, L1-AT is dismembered and left inert on the ground. It makes no attempt to move. However, you can tell from how vigorously the kettle is shaking that it's very, very mad still.

>>4878537

At the moment, there's not enough money to hire the guards. Guards come in pairs of 2, and cost $750 credits.

>>4871281

Credits will be topped up on Sunday, or if research materials are successfully submitted and [THE COMPANY] gives you money for them. If the antifreeze nets more than $35, you can immediately use that amount to buy guards. But that'll take Bunks off the board for next payday.

Confirm? (Order 2x Guards as soon as $750 is reached)

- Remote heating
- Industrial dehumidifier

There are only two able-bodied dudes who you can really order to do this job. It's not like you can order Chuck and Manny to do this outside of an emergency, so you get John and Viktor to team up. John is still rather surly and has that air of defiance, but he doesn't act up when transporting Chan.

Your mail-order-pedo is looking pallid and gray. He's taken to laughing randomly, lapsing into fits where he wheezes nonstop and drools while shuddering in his restraints. Nobody has shown him the littlest bit of care the past few days, but he doesn't seem to react to that fact at all. Once the order comes in, John pales and looks up at the intercom. He shrugs after a moment and gets to it.

Together, Viktor and John roll his restraint bed into the airlock. When they reach it, the both of them shudder and look at each other. Viktor reports to you that the gnawing hunger is affecting him. Chanstopher punctuates that moment by snapping his teeth together, darting his head forward and trying to lunge at John. He yells out in surprise and pulls back, glaring at the restrained fatass.

> "Fuck you!"

He kicks the bed.

Under his balaclava, you can see Viktor smiling slightly. He and John look into the window, watching the comatose body of the monster beyond.

> "Hey. You sure it's safe?"

> "If we do this right, yes. We only have a moment."

> "Don't you feel bad? At all?"

> "What, feeding this guy to it?"

> "Yeah, no shit. I mean, I hate the dude. And we all vaguely know what his deal is. But leaving him to be eaten alive is..."

> "... Honestly, John? Be grateful it's not you. Some other Facilities would have thrown you in on day one, this one has incredible welfare for you orange-boys."

> "..."

The two of them wait for your signal. On the count of three, you open the airlock and they pitch the bed forward, its restraints pre-loosened. Chanstopher Chris is flung into the room, and you slam the door shut before The Hungry can take advantage of the brief opening. He's too big to fit through the feeding chute while still being properly restrained, so that's the best you can do.

The Hungry freezes up. It stops shuddering on the ground, and its whispers stop all of a sudden. Chan stomps his feet and looks at the internal door. He drools at the two on the other side. His unkempt, ragged body doesn't look like much of a palatable snack for the creature. Perhaps it's not hungry? The man grabs his crotch and starts thrusting his hips forward while gurgling and giggling at the two on the other side. John flips him off, but Viktor stands there in silence and watches.

Just when you think that The Hungry is completely disabled, inert, and unable to respond, it twitches.

That's going to be a bitch to clean tomorrow. Jesus. You look away from your screen for a moment, and mute the mic. When you get back to it, you can see that Chan Chris is well and truly dead. The Hungry is pinning his corpse down and shredding it to bits, messily sating itself. It throws its head back and roars in victory. While it feeds, it ends up falling over several times and slamming into the ground. It can't keep itself up long without any fuckin limbs.

It's now 6pm. Time to go home! Except for the Security staff and Expendables, who are here 24/7. The scientists and other staff will be heading upstairs, and the night shift [ADMINISTRATOR] will be taking over for you.

You send in your samples to HQ. Once they receive the antifreeze, the verdict comes in! Something like this has lots of potential uses. You can obtain $100 from what you're sending. Each day, you'll likely be able to use a scientist and 3 hours to distil $200 worth of highly efficient antifreezing agents. [THE COMPANY] is pleased with this discovery, and suggest you look into how samples affects the human body next. There's also a reminder of the vehicle test deadline.

That means you can get the new guards! Or anything else you need. Additionally, the Company sends in one more request. They'd like to transport a new Monster to your Facility, and will provide a free default cell to contain it. If you accept, you may choose a location to build the empty cell, and construction can begin tomorrow.

Accept?

You give Ty Fiddler a call. As promised by him earlier, he picks up within 20 minutes.

> "Good evening, [ADMINISTRATOR]. What do you need today?"

You let him know to not search up any info on the flower, warning him that the act of doing so will make things worse and put him in danger. You're not able to ask him questions about the Wendigo, because you don't have enough money remaining for a consultation. He thanks you for the warning.

You also make sure not to let your superiors know. From what Mickey told you, letting them know would probably result in Ty disappearing. And that's not something you need right about now.

With that, you end the day. There's plenty of things to do on Saturday, so you make sure to get some good sleep that night.

Oh god, it's crowded. Really fucking crowded. There's the construction workers, your new staff, the deliveries, a motorbike, and a cage full of chattering monkeys. You'll need to make room. You're quickly running out of space in your Facility. The staff are a bit tired of sleeping on mattresses on the floor.

Oscar will be automatically returning to the autopsy, and will be done within the hour. In the meantime, you ought to plan for the day. It might be good to come up with some way to identify the new security guards.

> What are the names of your new staff members?

Also, you stare at the screen in disbelief. The Hungry is back to normal. It looks like it's in the pink of health. The fur on its limbs looks a bit sparser, like they're freshly grown. The cell is covered in blood, and there's not a single solid morsel left of Chanstopher Chris. The kettle is still. For now, your monster is completely satisfied with the meal. It's crouched in the dead centre and not even mumbling, for once. It looks almost peaceful.

You watch the footage, doing your best to ignore the sight of Chan being torn apart. Strangely, you only feel minimal disgust. Is this your first time seeing something like this? You think so, but can't be sure.

After ingesting the body, The Hungry spent some time screaming in celebration and flailing about. It then dropped onto the ground, where it spent the next few hours shuddering and twitching. The limbs grew in shortly after.

Vincent and Mac it is.

Your collection of novelty hats find their moment to shine once again. The first order of business is getting them acquainted with the Facility, and what better way to do so than a gift? They pick out their favorites from storage, which ends up being a set of airpods and a hat that you're pretty damn sure is a Billycock.

Viktor leads them in transporting the heavy weapons to the locked cabinet. While there's a certain amount of trust budding between you and the Expendables, they're still convicts, and giving them access to a massive gun and rocket launcher is a dreadful idea.

Jeremy is extremely distraught at the idea of this bike being blown to bits in a test. Apparently, he's a huge motorcycle fan, and the company has sent you a really nice one.

>>4880432

The one-liner statement that was provided when it was picked out in thread one is 'A Golden Goose'. Not a huge amount of info yet. They're still in the middle of declassifying it and doing preliminary tests, to make sure that it can't just completely destroy a fledgling Facility. You request info, but all you get at the moment is that it shouldn't require an overly specialised containment unit. And unlike The Hungry, it needs to actually eat to stay alive.

More info will accompany it upon arrival. It won't be a complete enigma like The Hungry, but there's no complete dossier on it either.

>>4880599

Manny is very happy to. He gets to work on making a good lunch. Any specific orders?

Oscar has finished her research. She tells Chuck to don his biohazard suit and get to work on cleaning up the body. You don't have any sort of disposal room, so the best that can be done is to bag it up and send it to the surface to be carted away at the end of the day. Same as all the trash you've had over the last week or so. You've never had such a big mess to clean up, though.

She reports the following facts about the body:
>>

>>4880613

The pig itself had increased muscle mass and hormones all throughout its body. It resembled the body of a pig that had escaped into the wild and turned feral, and the change was drastic, leading to mild degeneration in its joints. Its body also exhibited a healing factor due to its cells becoming hyper-aggressive and proliferating while it was alive. However, once killed, the body began rapidly destabilising. She managed to isolate cell samples and take a good, long look.

Those blood cells that she could identify as belonging to L1-AT began to consume the dying cells post-mortem. They were melting it down and turning it into a sort of flesh slurry. She theorises that living cells are only changed by the injection of The Hungry's DNA, but dead cells are rapidly consumed instead. She states her interest in testing with a large slab of flesh. Her hypothesis is that it would consume dead flesh, and depending on its regenerative properties, could grow in size from that absorption even when detached from The Hungry's body. She states that such an experiment might carry some risks, however. For example, there's a possibility it could grow into a whole second body like a starfish.

Several research paths are open to her.

Might as well get it out of the way to see if anything about it is noteworthy. Then we can fuck around with the other shit. That and it gives us some time to try getting more tissue and blood from the Hungry.

As for the lunch, some burgers and/or steaks with some fries?

I think if we try growing any hungry meat it should be inside something that can quickly be turned into a furnace. That said the ability to acquire material without having to cajole Mr. Cranky would be pretty damn useful

Tell Manny to grab the biggest slab of raw meat out of the freezer and give it to Oscar to test on in C2 and tell Oscar to get ready to test on a large slab of meat and to focus looking into ways to make that slab identical to an equal sized slab or meat from The Hungry while also doing tests on its composition in case anything unexpected happens

Oscar begins analysis of the antlers. It only takes an hour, and by the time you're ready to give your next order, she's done with it. It's not much of a finding, unfortunately. They're made of keratin, and are essentially the same as a deer or stag's antlers, except far stronger. It's hard to break it off the Monster in the first place, and doesn't have much practical use. Keratin and ivory never does. She mentions that it has no weird Wendigo properties. However, L1-AT did regrow its broken antler after eating Chanstopher.

Maybe if you can break off a massive piece in a breach, you can sell it. But it's worth nothing scientifically. The most you can do is get [THE COMPANY] to find a buyer who wants to procure it as exotic ivory or keratin. It'd be worth $50. Not very worth it for the effort involved, but in the event that you can get it without trouble, you'd want to.

You can tell that Oscar is disappointed by this dead end. But at least it only took an hour.

>>4880774

Only 1 vote for the shuffle, so keeping The Hungry put for now. Less effective communication still can be attempted by opening the airlock and using the intercom that's inside it.

Pencil in a semi-renovation of room 02 after we but the bunks, we probably don't need the flamers, but the dehumidifiers and reinforced door should definitely be a thing.

>>4882233
We'll need to flame the wendigo HARD soon, since we need all that flesh so get the security guards ready for a fight. 2 on flamers and two on guns, plan is to blow off a limb with high caliber copper rounds while the 2 flamers keep it at range, then one gunner stops shooting to grab the hand while the rest continue firing. Repeat until we have an arm I guess. I'm not saying we should do it now, since there's workers, and our security guy is a bit banged up, but I think that's a good game plan.

You open up the airlock to use the intercom inside it. The Hungry turns its head towards the door as it slides open, but it doesn't move. Its been quiet for quite a long time now. Ever since last night, it hasn't made a single sound. The intercom crackles to life as you attempt to communicate with it.

"L1-AT. We've fed you, as requested. Now, it's time for you to repay that. Please extract and place a portion of your flesh in the airlock, and then step away from the chamber."

The Monster tilts its head to the side. For a moment, you think it's about to ignore you and go back to its mumbling. But it finally inclines its head, and rasps out in a low voice.

"Very well. More...? More, when hungry. Finally... Finally. But not long. Soon..."

It rips into its own chest, tearing out chunks of meat. You notice something different this time. Compared to yesterday, where it was unable to regenerate itself, the wounds seal up almost instantly, like new flesh is growing in. It drops a pound of flesh into the airlock, and you quickly seal it up. Icy-cold blood pools around the chunks, and you can see wisps of vapour rising off it. That's gotta be really cold. But hey, you've managed to establish contact with it, and get it to willingly give up meat.

Oscar will come pick that up in a minute, to begin testing. You turn your attention to the other immediate concern.

>>4882189
>>4882207

You ring up John through one of the comms sets, asking him about his day and trying to make conversation. Jim seems to be doing the same of his own accord. They've procured a banana from the cafeteria, and are fucking with the monkeys.

John seems sullen and quiet when responding to you. His answers are noncommittal and brief. Finally, though, he speaks up.

> "Look... I'm not stupid. Why are you brown-nosing and trying to win us over with shit like vending machines and Tv, when you're going to feed us to a monster eventually?"

That seems to get Jim's attention too. He stops waggling the banana and looks towards the comms set, awaiting your response.
>>
>>4882291
Ah fuck, it's gotten stronger. Should've expected that since it ate a human but nevertheless, it's not the issue right now.

>"Look. At the end of the day, you're still a human like the rest of us. Even if what I ask you to do is risky and dangerous, you are still warranted some level of decency. Would you prefer if we treated you like trash? We just want to make sure everyone here can work together and keep things working."

> "... Yeah. Okay, I getcha. Thank you, I suppose. This beats being in prison, even if it's... Way more pants-shittingly terrifying."

The two of them get back to taunting the monkeys with bananas. Jim eventually caves and slides a couple through the bars, causing them to squeal in delight and squabble over the pieces. Your expendabros are in a good mood once again. You get the feeling that John will be faring better from now on.

Oscar transports the meat back into C2. She outlines the basic experiment process for you. She'll be introducing samples of L1-AT's freshly-excised meat into the plates. Most likely, its meat will begin consuming the beef. She mentions that when she did this on the pig, all she had was small amounts of blood. Hopefully having a larger, fresher sample should show different results.

She'll be examining it over the next few hours and stabilising the experiment.

I would edit that to: Regenerative ability has shown strong evidence of relating to recency and quality of feeding. Live feed has been preferred, as well as human to animal meat, non meat is rejected. Live humans are the most desired and seem to provide the creature with the greatest benefits. Further experimentation should be very limited at most, as the creatures power might snowball out of control.

Yeah, decent emergency measure, especially since they involve some fire. To kill it the RPG and the jet of molten copper it's projectile produces are probably better though.
Also what the other guy said, damage to the facility.

The sooner we can cut of all its limbs again and just copper chain it to a wall the better. I am not a huge fan of it moving around.
>>
>>4883347
I don't think that would work. Meta-knowledge dictates that 99% of the time, angels are usually old testament style fire and punishment types. If we were working for a foundation that was actually researching this shit so they can make technology that benefits anyone, we would have a chance to convince them to not smite us. However, since we're for profit...

The Demon would probably be more amused than anything, and use it taunt us. >"Look at you, pathetic refuse. You sing empty praises to a god who abandoned you the second you became capable of understanding his actions. Etc etc, doomer propaganda."

Airlock shuffle! The usual. You remove the smudge sticks first, and then set some meat into the cell to bait it. As luck would have it, Manny dropped one of the patties while he was making them (Handmade, of course). The Hungry obeys with minimal resistance, sliding into the airlock and sitting still while you close it. It does seem to be eyeing the workers visible on the other end of the room, but the change in its behaviour post-feeding is notable.

>>4883339

A grenade going off would likely damage the machinery behind the walls. There's a lot of sensitive equipment and piping in the background to keep the Facility running this deep underground, so having them go off in a hallway would be risky.

It's a peaceful day, so you have plenty of time to edit the dossier on The Hungry. You add info to the full sheet you have written up already (Which will be in the next post). You definitely have enough on it to submit as a proper file for this entity and get it officially registered in the database. You'll get a small monetary bonus for accuracy and attention to detail.

Submit Dossier to company? (Dossier in next post)

Oscar continues working on the meat. She remarks that the raw meat is being eaten away faster. The flesh seems to be cannibalising the meat around it and converting it to the same cells that it's composed of. Those slabs of meat are also extremely cold.

She remarks that if its armor applications are successful, the fact that it's naturally cooling could be beneficial if the wearer is in a hot environment.

Designation: L1-AT

Codename: 'The Hungry'

> Suggested Containment Procedures:

Four beryllium-copper alloy bands should bind the creature at all times to a copper table. Security personnel should be armed with copper nightsticks, copper firearms firing copper-jacketed ammunition, and flamethrowers. Cell should be a desiccated, hermetically sealed environment flooded with a dense noble gas. Flamethrowers and heating units should be placed in the room's walls.

> Description:

The Hungry is a large, humanoid creature about seven or eight feet tall. Entity has claws, is made of grey and white emanciated flesh, and has the head of a deer skull. Entity is carnivorous, and will eat anything that was once living. It has a nearly uncontrollable appetite, be it human or animal. Entity is essentially a moving corpse.

> Noted powers:

Superhuman speed, superhuman strength, apparent regeneration from a mulched state (see classified recovery log), ability to phase shift (limited by density of gas within room), temperature and ice manipulation, natural sonic weaponry, possibility of corruption and inducement of cannibalistic tendencies.

Weaknesses: Fire/heat, copper weapons, dense gaseous environment,

> Other notes:

According to hired witch doctor, is a "natural wendigo" where it has the ability to corrupt other humans into a lesser form of itself. Entity appears to take in all meat given to it and does not increase in mass. Entity has some limited form of communication, but according to witch doctor any communication is the parroted dead voices of its victims. Witch doctor recommends immediate entity termination. Entity is violent and intent on breaking containment for more food.

Creature initially appeared to be unwilling but not unable to move when observed. When first transported, creature was monitored by site director for roughly 60 minutes, with no movement. After briefly breaking line of sight for a moment, the creature had moved it's arm. Due to reports of it fighting capture teams, this appears to not be a supernatural affect.

The Hungry. May or may not receive a boost to regeneration when recently eaten a human. Regenerative ability has shown strong evidence of relating to recency and quality of feeding. Live feed has been preferred, as well as human to animal meat, non meat is rejected. Live humans are the most desired and seem to provide the creature with the greatest benefits. Testing this seems foolish in case the increase is permanent and it snowballs out of control.

[1/2]
>>
> Hypothesis:

Due to it's pale coloration and skull, it could pose as a skull, it's body blended into the snow to ambush prey. Testing is not possible at this time for personnel reasons."

Entity has shown unusual effects on kettles boiling in vicinity of entity, where the kettle will begin to swing on its own. Requires further testing, has a possibility for unlimited energy.

> Acquisition:
The entity was obtained from a forest deep in the Canadian wilds. The acquisition team was drawn in by reports of a group of teenage hikers turning up horribly mangled, with several missing in the aftermath. Search and Rescue reported seeing the entity, and [THE COMPANY] took over from there. Two fireteams were used to completely neutralise the creature, totalling about 16 men leading it across an expanse of snowy forest. High-calibre gunfire had to constantly be used to blow off parts of its body, and small arms fire was ineffective due to regeneration. Eventually, they resorted to explosives while luring it towards a containment zone, and managed to destroy its limbs in a blast. From there, they burned it down to a mangled mess and threw it in a heated cell. It was brought straight to the [FACILITY] from there.

Edit out the copper bed and restrains, think we proved that doesn't matter but beyond that, seems good enough for me. We should probably also note down how it's behavior has changed after being fed along with it's boost in regenerative ability.

Beyond that, I don't think I have anything else in mind besides waiting for the MEATMEATMEAT test to complete.

Clickity clickity clack. You change up the entries to reflect your new knowledge, and refine ideal containment procedures. It'll be a little while before you can achieve this perfect scenario and fully contain it, but you at least have a concrete plan. You lean back and wait while Oscar does her thing.

>>4884246

Ah yes, your other plan. You wanted to see if The Hungry could be used to dispose of nuclear waste by feeding it to it, on the hypothesis that if it seems to mulch meat into nothing, it could get rid of hazardous materials. You instruct Jim to get material from the sealed box, since he's the nearest. He dons the hazard suit and sets it among a steak, before dumping it into the airlock from the other end of the feeding chute that you open up. The Hungry eats the irradiated meat without question. You'll have to analyse it later on to see the results.

It eats the meat and grunts in satisfaction. But a few moments later, however, you hear the dreaded sound again.

"Hrrgh... Hungry..."

Lunchtime! The construction workers aren't your direct employees, so they don't enjoy the benefits of your five-star chef. Manny has outdone himself. Delicious cheeseburgers, with huge patties, onion chutney, savoury American cheese, homemade pickles and relish, it's absolutely mouth-watering. He bags one up and sends it upstairs in the elevator too. It'll get to you within an hour and you can enjoy the meal from the safety of your office. One of the aboveground staff will handle it.

All your employees gather to welcome the two new Security personnel. The mood is wonderful. Everybody is having a good time, enjoying the burgers and chatting among each other. John, especially, seems to finally feel secure here. Oscar is absorbed in her work, but Manny mentions that he can whip one up for her later.

As luck would have it, one of the monkeys has taken to pelting Jim with food bits and laughing at him. So Jim is all too happy to grab that one on your orders and toss him into the airlock. The Monkey is confused at first when it enters. It shies away from the freezing-cold, gigantic figure for a while, before curiosity takes over and it starts examining the entity.

The Hungry acts instantly. One the monkey is close enough, its limbs lash out and snag it. The force of its grip crushes the animals' ribs instantly, and it snaps its head up in the next second. You hope it didn't suffer too much in those few seconds.

Seems like it's still exhibiting an instant predatory response to the animal. Same as the rats that it lunged at immediately, yesterday.

Oscar finishes up her research right on time to answer that. She reports that over the past few hours, the Wendigo's flesh has been replacing the provided samples with its own cells, and has been using it to propagate. The more heavily cooked it is, the longer it takes. But they've essentially started eating the material and replacing it. The meat is continuing to write and grow, as though alive, even though it's outside the body. Like some kind of gross amoebic organism. It never seems to let up, and is constantly-hungry for more.

The process seems to take place at every single point of contact. She coated one of the lumps with a layer of ground beef, like a meatball, and by the end of the test, it had turned into a complete chunk of Wendigo-meat.

Phew. After handling horrid flesh for four hours, she asks what's for lunch. She nearly retches when you mention cheeseburgers.

Oh, and holy shit that burger is good.
>>
So, basically, Wendigo cells make more wendigo cells by eating meat. Curious.

How do you guys want to go about the Vehicular Armor test? Do we just grab some flesh and slice it up into different thicknesses and fire bullets at it with something behind it, like the motorbike or some other inanimate object, to see how much protection it offers? That's kinda the elephant in the room for me, I believe. Other tests are welcome but we should probably figure out how to deal with that
>>
>>4886187
>that could potentially turn into a wendigo if exposed to other meat would freak me out.
I think that's the biggest issue, really. Kinda like the SCP-447 situation. Could be really cool but since Wendigo meat vores other meat, it could lead to a horny eagle death spiral. Still, worthwhile to test at least.
>>
>>4886154
I think disposing of that meat is a good idea. Don't want another one of these fuckers slowly growing.
>>
>>4886154
I guess that we can do the vehicle testing now. Have someone put the bike in cell 02, have Oscar coat the bike in meat, have introduce wendigo cells to it, and when it's done have one of our new guys go in and fire at it using non copper rounds, first small arms while working your way up to the rocket launcher, if it survives the rocket launcher then start ut again but with the copper coated rounds for the sake of thorough testing
>>
>>4886179
Sounds good

You guys think we can use the meat to make blood somehow?
>>
>>4886223
>up to the rocket launcher
I highly advise against that. Look, it's cool and all, but I don't want to repair that cell and I'm pretty sure the meat does not offer THAT much protection.
>>
>>4886224
I mean, maybe? If we can, that would make harvesting from the Hungry basically redundant so I doubt it would be that easy.
>>
>>4886154
I'd say start by shaping the meat into a series of targets as variable thickness, proceed to shoot them in order of most to least thick to determine the minimum thickness required for effective armouring. If said thickness is thin enough try shaping a meat coating for the motorcycle and then shoot that
>>
>>4886177
Just a thought given the nature of the Wendigo we might see if increasing or decreasing the amount of meat in someone's diet has any effect on how susceptible they are to the hungry's hunger effect. By the sound of things Oscar may be open to the idea of going meat free at least temporarily
>>

The new dudes are given two of the three flamers, and instructed to melt the ice. It's a slipping hazard! They head inside and wash the cell in flames. Before Chuck can clear up the corpse, Oscar gets back to you on the pitch for the vehicle test. No rocket launcher. Not when you don't have a firing range. You're already risking it quite a bit by firing in an enclosed space. Ricochets are dangerous. You make sure that everyone has the proper protective equipment. Earplugs, goggles, a crate for cover, etc. I was just a bit lazy to draw it onto Oscar.

And with that, you begin the test. Oscar starts by coating the bike in slabs of meat. It's a gross, strange sight, that involves tying giant slabs of blisteringly-cold monster steaks to the bike. The new guards stand at the ready to shoot. Oscar and her assigned assistants will be busy for a little while with it, and results will come periodically.

>>4886409

You pitch the idea to your oldest employees. Viktor is very hesitant. Jim too. But Jeremy and John both respond that they're down for it. Jeremy has been planning on going on a diet anyway. And after your talk with him, John seems on board with a test like this that helps out, but doesn't throw him into direct danger.

There's some basic scanning devices like an X-ray machine and geiger counter. The x-ray scanner requires the subject to be still for a bit, and the scanner to be nearby, but you can just point the counter at it and figure things out. They don't have anything like an instant scanner-gun, but you're able to order basic research tools like that for free. In fact, you already have the basics in the Facility.

You get John to stand in the airlock and use the geiger counter. It's only scanning for radiation, so it's pretty easy to use. He stares at it for a moment, and then looks up at the camera.

John seems a bit perturbed by the fact that the monster is also radioactive now, but shrugs and gets back to work. He and Jim get the wireless cameras and face it upwards. It's a small device that has a thermal functionality and a light next to the lens, so that you can get a good view even when swallowed. You also instruct them to put one of the bomb collars into the meat.

The Hungry scarfs it down as soon as it's set into the room. You've been feeding it a LOT recently. And it's more quiet as a result. You wait for the camera to initialise within it.

What you immediately notice is that the camera rolls down the oesophagus and ends up in the stomach as expected. It rolls about in a vast slurry of recently-ingested meat and bone, and you can't make out much else of the surroundings. The collar is squelching about too.

Sap the what QM? I guess it might be effectiveness, so we should ease up on the usage a bit.

So, on using the wendigo flesh for armor, we obviously are only going to strap it to tanks and vans right? Nothing that would require constant skin to skin contact. Actually, that could be your next test, tying a wad of wendigo meat to a monkey.
>>
>>4892601
Right we need to see about getting the smallest EATR robot (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energetically_Autonomous_Tactical_Robot) we can so we can have a long term mobile observer inside the hungry
>>
>>4892601
yeah no until we figure out exactly how long the radioactive material stays in the hungry's system we shouldn't make any decisions.

also side note if the hungry doesn't show any reaction to the radiation and the radioactive material takes a while to dissipate from it's system we should acquire Prussian blue to see if it's ability to cut down on the time that the material lingers will work on the hungry.
>>
>>4892754
I don't know anything about materials and chemical stuff, can you explain to me what the Prussian blue has of special?
>>
>>4892781
>In medicine, orally administered Prussian blue is used as an antidote for certain kinds of heavy metal poisoning, e.g., by thallium(I) and radioactive isotopes of caesium. The therapy exploits the compound's ion-exchange properties and high affinity for certain "soft" metal cations.
>>
>>4892784
It helps by making it so the radioactive substances are reacted into forms more easily exerted from the body. Given that the hungry doesn't appear to excrete anything it likely wouldn't help
>>
>>4892784
>>4892797
So basically, it makes your shits slightly radioactive so that you don't have that slim quantity of radiation
>>
>>4892606

Jesus, I really hit enter too early. Left that paragraph unfinished while I was alt-tabbed to research something.

I meant to say that it's possible to permanently flood the room with the incense from the sage smudge sticks, using the ventilation system. Results may vary.
>>
>>4892799
Sort of, the big danger of radioactive materials is that until they degrade (a process that can take years to Milena depending on the substance) they will be emitting dangerous ionizing radiation. Now your body can take a surprisingly large amount of ionizing radiation without too much risk but the longer you're exposed and the greater the amounts the more at risk you are. Now if those radioactive elements get into your body they'll be irradiating you as long as they're in there, if that's only as long as it takes you to shit them out you'll probably be OK depending on how much you breathed in/ingested, however if those elements get used by your body to form cells or the like or even just get lodged somewhere then they will obviously be in you a whole hell of a lot longer irradiating you the whole time.
This is why substances like Prussian blue are so valuable because they chemically bind the radioactive elements into molecules that will more easily be passed out of the body and thus have less time to irradiate you.
Side notes: enough ionizing radiation at once can have a whole range of horrific effects even if the original materials leave the body, many radioactive elements are really poisonous as well as radioactive, even if you don't get an immediately lethal exposure there's always an increased risk of cancer down the line.

Basically if we knew a way to accelerate radioactive decay we wouldn't really have a radioactive waste problem, and radioactive substances should always be treated with respect for how dangerous they can be
>>
But the hungry doesn't shit. Skin, bones, hair all just disappeared in his digestive tract, without him gaining mass, which is against the laws of physics. Hence the experimentation with it's digestive tract to find out if he has a black hole in there or something.

Speaking of the vehicle test, the results finally come in! The new guys have been firing at the plates of flesh with various ammunition over the final hour of the experiment. The flesh seems to maintain the reactive properties when subjected to damage. It flash-freezes in response to bullets, either repelling them or trapping them within. Copper bullets rip through the meat as expected, damaging the bike underneath. Oscar is pleased with the results.

The meat also seems to close back up and heal itself when fresh meat is added to it. What you have here is a lump of flesh that can be used as vehicular armour, isn't as heavy as metal, and can self-repair when fed. It's also self-cooling. Using it as plating for a car or van would be the most effective use of it. A motorcycle is too small and has too little surface area for it to be ideal. It's definitely something the Metamaterial division of [THE COMPANY] would be interested in. However, you don't know the side effects yet, if any.

The rate of growth is good, and it seems possible for the meat to self-propagate. Oscar recommends more observation into things like shelf life and decay. She also remarks that while it self-propagating is useful, allowing it to do so excessively would mean that your profits would be affected, as any customers can simply pirate your product with a single sample.

>>4889448
>>4889663

While within its stomach, your camera's feed rapidly degrades and erodes. Along with the collar, it seems like it's being dissolved remarkably fast. Its stomach has broken down the meat and bone that was whole only 1-2 hours ago. And the camera also can't locate any sort of orifice or tube for it to move further into the body. It's only the stomach cavity.

The rate of digestion could be a biological reason as to why it's so hungry all the time. But there's also the whole thing about it being a spirit of insatiable gluttony.

About to go to bed, and haven't processed the rest of the votes yet! But this one is a good call, I actually have the numbers and prices in my notes, so I'll respond to this first since it can affect the purchases.

Upon submitting the results and sending over samples of the meat, you receive a response rather promptly! The Metamaterials division is very interested in the possibilities brought about by the meat, and are willing to pay you $200 credits for the samples you set aside and the notes on it, as a sort of starter pay.

They list their prices. $500 for a rather large amount sent in bulk, applicable once per payday (Twice per week). It's a large enough quantity that you'd need to both harvest it directly off The Hungry, and grow it yourself using meat slurry. Definitely needs explicit effort to provide, but if you can send that meat in, you'll get quite a large amount.

The flesh will be sent to the Metamaterials division at HQ, and they'll disseminate it to customers based on usage from there. In general, [THE COMPANY] participates in trading between different Facilities, as well as making contact with various black market brokers and government organisations. It's not all-powerful, but its influence reaches quite far due to its vast connections.

> Y

When you announce the addition of the bunks, the team cheers happily. The new dudes aren't too fussed, but the old boys are overjoyed that they'll finally be getting a nice room to themselves. The bunks will come in three tiers. There's the comfortable rooms for high-ranking personnel. There's standard rooms. And then there's an equivalent of a prison cell block, though not as bleak. The prison cells are rooms designed to make sure that the inhabitants can't exploit anything like screws and metal used in the construction of furniture. You can either place Jim and John in these, or allow them standard rooms.

>>4893446

Permanent door upgrades are a Facility-Wide upgrade that permanently upgrades all doors to increase their strength and make containment easier. It'll allow for bulkheads to be closed on portions of your base to sequester areas off, strengthen the containment doors, and increase security overall. At the moment, while it's strong, The Hungry doesn't seem physically powerful enough for this to be absolutely necessary. But it's insurance for the future.

Managed to come up with a price for the Kettle generators, yeah. I'll add it to a shopping list and income generation update in a post after this. It'll be $300 to set up the apparatus itself, requiring a spare room to be assigned as a generator chamber. You get a $200 increase in in pay for each. It's quite a bit of an investment to pay for the room construction and apparatus itself, but it'll eventually end up paying for itself after several paydays. Will consume space, though. And if the generator is out in the open like the current one, it's vulnerable to tampering or damage if a monster goes past.

[1/3, at word limit.]
>>
>>4893592

If you make a convincing enough pitch, it might be possible. But generally, [THE COMPANY] doesn't kill their entities unless they prove to be more trouble than they're worth after extended testing, and can provide too little value in return. In those cases, termination is possible. There's also the obvious danger of cross-testing entities that makes this a bad idea, and it's unlikely to be approved.

Whew. Almost a week here, and you've progressed quite a bit. Your Facility is going strong, your people are pretty happy, and you're getting the hang of containing and using this beast. The boat will be rocked a bit on Monday, and you're broke as hell until Wednesday, but you've got lots of potential in the upcoming days.

Build to the peft of storage so that everyone isn't too close to the cells if there's a breach and they'll still be as close to the elevator as possible so they can escape in time. It'll also make it so that effects from the monsters, like The Hungry's hunger aura, won't effect the staff; or at least not as much as having it be right beside one of the cells like proposed
>celebrate bunks

>Jim and John in these, or allow them standard rooms.
Let them in the standard rooms, they seem to have earned some degree of trust, they're crimes aren't so bad that it's proof of them acting out here, and they very clearly know that acting out isn't a good idea because of the bomb collars, heavily armed and trained security, and man eating monster
Any new expendables will have to go on a month long wait period before given the chance at being moved to a standard room. It will require them to pass a check of their behaviors at the facility, their crime, and their mental state. If they don't pass that check they have to wait another year or depending on behavior never get the chance to move to a standard room

Any suggestions for where the Facility might be? There's an aboveground segment that's offf-screen, but so far the only thing about the upper layer that we've established is that the player-insert isn't physically there, and has to travel from his own office.

Seems like some sort of Desert region has the votes. I just went back to look, and I realised I mentioned in an earlier thread that [THE COMPANY] is US based. So the Facility will be somewhere there. Probably a nondescript desert region, for the reasons that anon described.
>>
>>4895015
Now the idea came, what is our final goal now that I think about it?
>>
>>4895015
I don't think that there are any deserts in the area that would have native American tribes with Wendigo folk lore? Unless Ty's tribe moved to a state with a desert like Nevada, though western Washington would be more likely due to its low population and close proximity to IIRC the area of Canada that the wendigo was captured. AFAIK the native Americans in Washington are the orca hunting, totem pole building, long house residing ones, not the Wendigo fearing ones
>>
>>4895027

Yep, the Cree, and Ty, come from further up in Canada. But for the sake of the Quest, I'll be treating the location as just 'Somewhere in America' and not worrying about the geographical logistics or state lines. I'm not from the US either, so I don't know enough about it to be fully accurate anyway.

>>4895018

For now? Expanding the [FACILITY] and making money, as well as proving competence to [THE COMPANY].

Speaking of which. Do you guys have any suggestions for how time progression has been working out so far? I've tended to go one hour per update, with time slowing down in the event of any breaches or emergency scenarios that need to be micromanaged. But that makes the days go by rather slow, and while I don't mind that too much, I considered that it might be draggy for you guys. Any recommendation in that regard, or is the status quo fine as it is?

>Go down yourself tomorrow at 1700 hours to celebrate the completion of the bunks?

>Jim and John
They deserve standard rooms. Any other expendables can be started in the basic accommodations, but these guys have proven themselves.

>>4895015
I support a desert, maybe in California or Arizona. With our [COMPANY] resources, there's really no reason we can't get a Cree dude based in Canada or Washington over to us anywhere in the US in 24 hours with a private jet, right?

>>4895032
I'd maybe consider going for bigger blocks of time in 'mundane' circumstances (morning, afternoon, evening, for instance). That's just me, though; others seem to be fine with the hourly updates.

The boys are getting BEDS, baby, and you'll be visiting later to celebrate with them. First thing in the morning, the builders come to work, complaining about the sweltering heat outside in the desert. Good thing you have plenty of air-conditioning, or the machinery in the walls would be cooking you guys.

You've also gotten a tiny little thing from [THE COMPANY]. It's not the robo-rover that costs $150 credits. Rather, it's a very tiny probe that you hope will be able to survive the inside of The Hungry's digestive system. It's in a briefcase and takes the form of a pill-sized drone with treads to help it move. Ah, and the Prussian blue too, to see about the radiation.

Oscar checks on Jim and Jeremy, looking over their injuries and finishing up some treatment. She concludes that the wound from the icicle has closed up, and Jim is fine now.

Mmmh Monkey. The test animal is quickly restrained and put in a cage with the meat near it. It sits there, seeming very distressed by the act. The meat is still icy cold, and immediately freezes itself to the creature's fur. Oscar takes some notes as it squirms about in severe discomfort. She also injects more cells into the meat to continue observing the time taken.

Yesterday, it took four hours for the meat to assimilate a steak-sized chunk. About 220 grams. That's not a whole lot of mass. In order to get enough meat to fulfil the quota for the slab of vehicular armour, you'd need to spend a huge amount of time letting it eat raw meat. It would probably take far longer than just harvesting it, and you'd need to set a room aside to place the massive pieces of meat needed. With its regenerative ability, you could get quite a lot from the monster.

Yes. we need a heavily armored strongbox with a hole just big enough for the hungry to stick his head through. Inside the hole, a very strong (and fast) copper coated clamp to fix it's head in place and a copper sawblade to saw it right off. Harvest the whole body and have hungy finally properly restrained.

Give them what'll keep them alive and work on the monsters. Right now have them use flame throwers/assualt rifles and side arms with copper plates ammo
>>4899249
Also check in how hard it would be to mix some copper into the flame thrower fuel, maybe some copper in it will make it work better on The Hungry
>>
>>4899485
I specifically looked up the most powerful guns for shotguns and pistols, the ksg can hold 41 shells which we can customize to fire copper pellets along with explosive and flame shot. Same thing for the desert eagle, which may be powerful enough to go toe to toe with the hungry. Also I don't think putting copper in the fuel will do much of anything, all copper does is make the weapons work like how they should against normal opponents, and its already weak to fire.
>>
>>4899494
No, remember the ice? It took monumentally more time to melt than it should have, fire is just very effective in general so getting a copper fire (which btw OP copper fires are green so you can add more color that way) might make it even better
Also even the most powerful of hand guns aren't going to be so effective that they would be worth using over an assualt rifle. Shotguns could be worth it if we could get them for as much as a rifle, but since we can't the immensely small benefit isn't worth it when for the cost of one guns we could get another gunner with all of the equipment instead of just 1 piece of equipment

Everything non specialized in the weapon category is free, a fucking machine gun and RPG is free

By the way, I have an idea for an upgrade in the cells, I call it "Operation Squashy Squash", it is a hydraulic piston for the entire cell, can help for example to flatten monster, and to help stop the "you know" when it occurs, controlled remotely with a lever for different levels of pressure
Pic related is a very rough demonstration
>>
>>4899633
No? We only have those because of the test
>>
>>4899636
Wait I am retarded, forget that I said that, I forgot that they were free thanks to the vehicle task
>>
>>4899633
with such a large plate, hydraulics seem like bloat.
the weight of the bloody thing should be enough to crush just about anything, retracting and partial drop could be accomplished with (elevator(?)) cables
the idea is not bad, but i dont thinks its the best or most cost effective weight to secure the pissbaby
total restrain and regular meat harvesting should be better
>>
>>4899633
I think bakelite would be better to constrain monsters, far cheaper to put in (the room would need far less remodeling for the bakelite), and be far nicer to maintain since if it breaks the roofs going down and someone will need to go into there with a very angry monster
>>

Definitely. We should prepare a copper body cast thing that has sections we can open to feed/harvest meat/blood from it. We'll put it on The Hungry the next time it throws a temper tantrum.
Speaking of >>4899249 ask the company how much one of those would cost

>>

Oh the bakelite is one of the failsafes talked about earlier that would flood the room with a quick drying liquid that would the monstet in place
If you want to kill it then I think the "let it burn" fail safe would be better because that would flood the room with fire until whatever is in it dies

You announce to the security lads that you'll be ordering their requested weapons. They all seem pretty happy about it. Having a weapon that they're confident with is good for morale. Vincent expresses that he'd like a firing range, since they're essentially deployed in here permanently and will be out of practice otherwise. But it's not super vital to Facility operations.

Right now, finances are a bit tight, but you'll definitely be able to order your lads specialised anti-pissbaby ammunition without eating too much into your cash. You can still get enough for two people though.

The monkey is sent into the cell after being injected with Prussian Blue. That'll probably kill it, but it's not like you intend for it to live that long anyway. The Hungry scoops it up near-instantly. It sniffs the monkey this time, before biting its head off and cramming the rest down its throat.

As soon as it finishes, however, it rubs its stomach and looks up at the camera.

"More... hungry... Even more... Not enough. Cold...

Oscar reports that the Monkey, sometime in the last hour, has started eating the meat strapped to it. It's pretty panicked from the frostbite, but has started grabbing the provided samples and chewing on them, despite damage to its hands and fur in the process. She doesn't observe the meat dissolving the monkey, though, unlike the samples of already dead flesh on the table. Perhaps it doesn't kill living things? The pig was the same.

You watch her yelp over the camera. The Monkey lunged at her abruptly as she passed by to pick up a beaker. It then backed up against the cage and held the meat to its chest protectively, while yanking out chunks of it and swallowing them rapidly.

I got caught up on the quest, and my question is why are we even using wendigo meat as vehicular armor if it can assimilate and/or infect other flesh to become itself? Isn't that grounds for a massive disaster in the real world? What if animals find and eat it, or hunt pieces down after any firefights with the meat exposed and then become infected? Isn't [THE COMPANY] supposed to account for all that, or is that our job too?

Jeremy heads into the room. He hands Oscar a spare handgun and instructs her on its use. It's a quick, five-minute lesson. Use earplugs if she just needs to kill it in a non-emergency situation, point it, hold it with both hands, etc. She's sensible enough to figure out trigger discipline without a whole lecture, as expected from a professional, and she holsters it under her labcoat.

Indeed, near the end of the allocated four-hour period, the Monke has consumed most of the meat. Its body is covered in patches of raw skin and fur has sloughed off from contact. Its eyes are bloodshot, and it's bleeding slightly from various orifices. Nothing that looks lethal, though. Its gums are pulled back, it's aping out, and it's reaching forward to try and claw at Oscar and Jeremy. Froth indeed starts spouting from its mouth.

The creature grips the edges of the metal bars and starts prying. Monkeys are strong as shit, and this is a cage meant to hold them. But Oscar notes it starting to bend. This is interesting. She notes that its increased in aggression and strength, yet is acting incredibly erratic. She wants to observe it in this cell further, but also understands if you give Jeremy the order to kill it right now.

As the metamaterials division has agreed to purchase slabs of meat, they'll be processing it on their own and conducting research on how to fully use it for their own purposes. Occasionally, you'll get insights from them. You're expected to submit information that can help them out, like properties of the flesh that you discover further down the line. However, it's not your personal responsibility even if this product causes a crisis. You're simply the supplier. There are plenty of unexpected outcomes when dealing with the anomalous, and unless it's a massive show of negligence and incompetence, you won't be faulted.

Oscar heads into the observation room. It looks like the monkey is about to break free of the cage, and there's no guarantee of safety if anyone stays in the room with it. You can always kill it with gas later on. At the end of the four hour mark, the meat has been completely consumed.

The changes are rather drastic. Its experienced hair loss and its eyes look sore and vicious. Blood runs from its nose as it zips about within the cage. Oscar notes that the wounds formed from contact with the meat are healing up. The bald patches remain, but the frostbitten skin has recovered miraculously. Just like the pig, the consumption has induced a healing factor. The monkey is certainly going batshit though. She states her interest in figuring out what this can do to a human body, if someone is conscious and able to respond during it. On a new expendable, definitely.

In her opinion, there's no point in throwing the last monkey in here with it, the result of it is probably quite obvious.

You draft up a report on the effects of ingestion on living organisms. Maybe INJECTION will have a different result?

After the monkey is consumed by The Hungry, Jim and John check out the scanner again. They report that the radiation levels are still the same. There's been no excretion from the creature, so while you can assume that the PB has bound the elements inside its body, it has no way to expel it. Jim shakes his head.

>"Oh man. Boss, what was the point of irradiating this thing? We still have a whole box of waste in the lobby."

Hoo boy, we fucked up. Why did we feed it nuclear waste? The only idea I have for the radiation being purged is if we burn/rip away at it and hope whatever it regenerates isn't radioactive.
>>
>>4903142
Sure, we can try that... But fieat, I have an idea!

>>4903137
Order some MOF microbots a la https://www.britannica.com/video/216532/Microbots-clean-up-radioactive-waste, and then remove them with a robot. This is an ideal situation to test out any more advanced or experimental versions [THE COMPANY] has special access to, as well.
>>
>>4903210
Not enough money for that. Waste of our future payout too.

>>4903142
>Why did we feed it nuclear waste?
IT EATS FOREVER
THE MASS HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE
>burn/rip away at it and hope whatever it regenerates isn't radioactive
Agreed, but we have to save that for whenever we fight it to dismember it like it was before. We should consider refunding the nuclear waste and prussian blue later, if we're never going to use any of them again. Having them around for certain "bad stuff" to consume and become radioactive from is a horrible thing I want to avoid at all costs. And wait, weren't we planning to "weakly irradiate" The Hungry solely to test where the mass goes? How strong are his radiation levels if the geiger counter clicks when scanning him?

Add "kettle tests" to experiments list to do later as well. From thread 2:
>how many kettles one wendigo can power at once
>the range it can power a given kettle at
>how much kinetic energy it can power a kettle with
>how much friction it can overcome to still swing
>how much we can modify a kettle until it stops being a kettle for the sake of the anomalous effect (ex. only having a tiny cavity of liquid, being made of different metals, etc)
>Depending on the outcomes of these tests we may have an excellent source of energy, another good way to harness it might be using a ratchet gear on an axle it swings from in addition to the generator already in place.
Add "test sample cooling abilities" to experiments list to do later as well. From thread 2:
>basic water cooling setup (radiator, reservoir, heat sink, pump, tubing, etc.) for testing the cooling abilities of the samples
Resume cube tests as well to determine material strengths when faced with The Hungry. This will put us on the right path to containing this thing better, in addition to containing other wendigo better if [THE COMPANY] wishes to capture another one for another [FACILITY] specifically.
Ordering some incendiary rounds could be useful, as they must already be useful against real-life wendigo, assuming things I've read from certain places are true
>>
Theory: The Hungry's body is essentialy just a piece of a larger extradimesional mass projecting into our reality. Its regeneration is just it drawing on the mass it had stockpiled in its extradimensinal space. This is why it appears to consume more than it can fit, why it grows stronger from eating, and why it can never be full.
>>
>>4903291
>Not enough money for that. Waste of our future payout too.

If we provide The Hungry as a test site for such things, maybe we can GET money as a research grant. A perpetually-regenerative source of low-level radiation where they can test out other [COMPANY] products could be useful.

I also support your other proposed tests, though.
>>
>>4903393
I had more or less the same theory, except it just has a Kirby styled blackhole stomach.

>>4903137
Right, I say we should test how durable Wendigo-ed creatures are, get the security guys in the room. One will shoot at it using normal rounds, one will shoot at non-lethal points using copper rounds to see if it bleeds out, and one gets to try and splatter it's head using normal rounds. The last one gets to use the flamer to get rid of any small chunks of Monke that splinter off.

We aren't keeping it around forever, right?
>>
>>4903638
Absolutely not, when it comes to keeping it around. That cage is gonna break sooner than latter and I rather not have Oscar get her organs ripped out.

Bang. Mac is the first to shoot it with normal rounds. A normal monkey would die from the shock of that bullet. While the infected monkey is blasted backwards against the bars, it quickly gets back up, clearly wounded, but alive and still mobile. It thrashes against the bars. Viktor is next to fire upon the creature with copper rounds. This time, the monkey doesn't get up. It lies on the floor of the cage, twitching and bleeding. The two others ready their weapons.

Terminate it, or observe it further?

>>4903462

You note it down in the dossier to not feed it any more waste. You can either keep the radioactive material in the lobby around, or send it back up at the end of the day.

Observe the monke further, to see if it revivifies. If it does, note that and THEN terminate it.

Weren't we going to figure out what The Hungry can and can't digest before sticking our more-expensive robot in it?
>>

Observe further. They clearly have it where if need be they can kill it.
Try to see if it gives off the similar hunger inducing or cold effects to The Hungry. After that test see if they can blow off its' limbs in a relatively in tact state so that it can't move and we can have one of them use a copper rod to push it out of the cage so that we can test it.
It may be that we can just feed a monkey some wendinugs and get a decent portion of armor quality flesh

and relevant:

- Kettle generators. -$300 to build, +$200 income per payday afterwards. Requires an empty room. 2 per completely empty room.

The setup to make power exists, but could perhaps be optimised further by researching those topics you mentioned.

>>4904747

Yes, it's in a secure container and non-hazardous unless busted open. There wasn't any space to put it and the supplies from the day before. The monkey cage and spare boxes can be moved. The Hungry hasn't been fed its own meat yet.

>>4904805

The amount fed to it was the estimated amount needed to get a positive reading, accounting for the fact that it's through layers of biological material. However, the current readings are slightly more than anticipated, implying that the body itself is radioactive now, and it's not just picking up a reading from the inside. It's not enough to cause immediate harm, but will kill someone's testicles if they spend a couple months in the vicinity.

Not a threat to the staff, but is now an existing hazard.

Additionally, here's a sneak peek of tomorrow's arrival.
>>

>>4904849

The lads shoot it in the limbs. They're essentially blasted off, leaving it as a little monkey nugget in the cell, screeching and screaming still. They use a hook on the end of a pole to carry the cage. As they bring it past the kettle, you request that they hold it nearby.

Nope, no change. It doesn't seem to cause any additional motion in the kettle when brought past it. The device just keeps humming away from The Hungry's current mood.

You get them to throw the limbless monkey into the room, with the intent of observing whether The Hungry:

A: Consumes meat that's grown from itself
B: Has any special reaction to the infected creature

Once it's thrown through the chute, The Hungry's head snaps towards the creature. It reaches forward to snatch it up, but pauses and looks for a moment. A long-clawed hand wraps around the monkey and brings it up to its face to observe. The Monkey goes wild, screeching and trying to bite the hand.

Oscar watches with interest as the Wendigo stares at the creature. After several long moments, it lets out a strange noise. A sort of 'Ruk, ruk, ruk', almost like laughter.

It then shoves the creature into its mouth and crunches down, feasting on yet another subject.

Well then. We might as well do that antifreeze property test when it comes to a cooling system. We still got a spare sample, after all.
>>
>>4906572
Sure. As long as it doesn't cost much, a free moral boost will always be a good thing.
>>
>>4906572
>>4906573
Handhelds are a bit much, mp3 players are good.

>>4906197
Should we start a suppression attempt? We need a blood sample, and more tissues, and oscar can start on the antifreeze test while we flame it.

What is our IDEAL containment for the Hungry? Are we just planning to crucify it/tie it down with copper bands but with nails along the neck, chest, and arms in a warm dehumidified environment surrounded by smudge sticks and flamethrowers? We'd need to knock it out or at least nuggetize it, and come up with some way in order to stop it from ripping itself apart to free itself.
>>
>>4906591
I think the dream plan is to put him in a warm, dehumidified cell stuck inside a full body copper suit or similar. I'm not totally opposed to trying to harvest stuff from it right now but eh.
>The Hungry should be contained in a 1.5 inch thick, heat treated, cold treated, airtight, berryllium-copper alloy suit with a feeding latch near the mouth, and a latch that opens to show 80% of the torso (for flesh extraction purposes). The cell should be a desiccated, hermetically sealed environment flooded with a dense noble gas. Flamethrowers and heating units should be placed in the room's walls.
This is the ideal containment stat last I checked.
>>
>>4906572
We should give them the best console of all time the switch
>>
>>4906591
It would probably be in the current cell but he's in an airtight copper suit filled with heavy gasses and no moisture with some latches so we can harvest flesh
>>
>>4906591
I think we have already a really nice idea for the Hungry containment, I think it's fine as it is

In a different and unrelated note, I love/hate the new captcha
>>
>>4906612

>>4906618
Nah that'd be far too much, something simple like an mp3 player should be fine though
Speaking of. >>4906193 is there an internet connection down there?>>4906655
Same here. While it's far faster than the last one, it's just kind of annoying to get right
Still better than the "pick the images with the bicycle" 8 times in a row then not working on the 9th
>>
>>4906663
No problem with the console thing then, maybe bring our own console and play with them for the sake of it.
I too fucking suck with that in the captcha, once it took me more than 20 tries because whoever that did the captcha at the time is retarded and i hate him

That'd be free, yep. You place an order for a switch, but it's still under consideration. If you change your mind by the end of the day, you can strike it off and get something smaller for them.

There's Facility-wide Intranet, and it's a relatively enclosed system. You need credentials in order to make contact with the outside world, so the Expendables can't just go post their diaries on reddit or something. They can still watch videos and play browser games, but can't install anything.

You turn the intercom on and make your demands of The Hungry. This time, it turns its head upwards to regard you. As soon as the request is made, it begins ripping into its own belly. The flesh grows back fast, filling in the wounds like water rushing into fill a vacuum. It drops the pounds of flesh onto the ground, where they pulsate and bleed.

"Yes... A deal. Hungry... Still Hungry. But... Cold... Can wait. More food. For more. Yes..."

The amount given is about 45% of the amount needed to fulfil the meat quota. You can wait to harvest more, or attempt to grow it from this slab. 2% expansion per hour. This can be activated passively

> [Meat growing] [45/100] [Passive until cancelled]
> [Blood obtained] [2 Doses of Antifreeze] [3 Hours to extract] [Sells for $200]

Phew. Finally figured out the mechanics for getting that meat. The Hungry can willingly give it up, or more can be forcefully taken over time. The meat also grows at a rate of 2% per hour, assuming scrap biomass is automatically added to it. This will be a passive perk, though it requires usage of a room. Once it reaches 100%, you can ship it off for that payment.

Also, two hours till you come down and celebrate the bunks opening!

Airlock shuffle time! You get it into the room with a chunk of meat. As usual, it crawls right in, expecting a small meal. In the meantime, Chuck gets the meat and transports it. He's used to equipping the hazmat suit and is the second-most secure person to do it, after Oscar.

Oscar is still busy with work. She gives you a short update that it's going well, and you comment on some of The Hungry's behaviour while exchanging small talk. She expresses a bit of concern over how much you've been feeding it, but decides to leave it up to your judgement. You also ask her if she can maybe optimise the antifreeze harvesting, and teach the boys how. She replies with an affirmative. If she repeatedly harvests antifreeze (the repeatable research option), she'll eventually be able to increase the rate. She's also confident that Jim can accompany her and be taught how to do it the next time. John, she's not sure, but Jim has kept up with everything non-confidential that she's shared just out of interest.

Alright, from now on lets have Jim shadow Oscar and assist and learn as much as possible. Who knows, maybe after a while we'll have a free Hungry expert.
Go ahead and feed the human meat to the Hungry meat, and record its rate of growth compared to just whatever meat we got lying around.
Also lets call our boy Ty and ask him, just on the off chance it may happen, what could happen if we feed a wendigo tons of human and non human meat for an extended period. Not that anyone would be so stupid as to do that, of course.

Speaking of other Facilities, I've been wanting to make a sample image of some other Facilities for a while now. So here's a quick one!

While you wait for the hour to pass, you receive an email from a fellow [ADMINISTRATOR]. You and him are on friendly terms, and chat with each other for a bit. He decides to show you a little bit of his [FACILITY] to spark conversation.

Unlike your base in the desert, his is an offshore rig. It's way harder to maintain, with the issue of water pressure, oxygen, stabilisation, etc. However, it's the most secure place to contain one of his creatures: An entity known as 'Ifreeti'.

>>4909399

Unfortunately, a call to Ty will cost $150, which you guys can't afford.

Ah, right. After this work day, I'll archive and start the next thread soon! It'll open up with the updated info sheets like the shopping lists, bulletins, monster classifications, etc.

Might be a day or two between archiving and then making the new one, gonna take a short break. Also, my work schedule might be changing soon. Probably at the start of August, I'll be able to post less often, and may have to go on hiatus since it'd be returning to the timetable that forced me to pause after thread 2 in the first place. Just a heads up and an apology in advance.

Jim arrives just in time to watch Oscar finish up the property test. She gets him to watch over the setup for a bit while she gets to the results.

>>4903291

The sample is extremely effective as a coolant. However, it seems to 'produce' cold rather than just sap things of heat. Oscar is absolutely dumbfounded. It goes against the laws of thermodynamics, she explains. As everyone knows, cold is simply the absence of heat, or thermal energy. There's no magic icy force called Cold that lowers the temperature of objects.

Or, there wasn't. Until she observed this thing. She remarks on the possibility of other entities in [THE COMPANY]'s possession having the same abilities. There's plenty of creatures in mythology with apparent control over ice.

By being exposed to enough heat over periods of time, the antifreeze becomes denatured. However, during that duration, it serves as a supercoolant that can definitely be used in nuclear reactors. The downside is that if heat is no longer supplied to counteract it, it'll near-instantly freeze moisture and sit within it in a liquid form. Boiling water is flash-frozen by several millilitres of it being dripped into a beaker.

If you guys have any other specific questions about the coolant, feel free to ask, as it'll likely fall under info that's already been obtained from this test, but that I just haven't thought to type out.

You arrive at the Facility at 1700, as planned. In an hour, these bunks will be fully complete!

>>4909358
Indeed, it is. Meat from the stored corpses is consumed the fastest. Anything that's been reduced to a state that can't be considered 'meat' anymore isn't consumed, such as agar and gelatin, despite being animal byproducts. Human flesh results in the fastest change, and the difference in percentage between animal meat is negligible.

The final monkey is stuffed into the observation room in a secure cage, where it'll remain to observe the effects of the hunger aura. While transporting it, Oscar notes that the aura is diminished recently. She's hardly felt it in its presence. Seems like with all the feedings, even though The Hungry still whines like a pissbaby, it's not emanating that aura.

At 1800, it's complete! The bunks are ready. There's three tiers, as mentioned. The prison cells up top, secure and meant for the Expendables. Then there's middle bunks. Less luxurious ones, for mid-level staff. And finally, the guards have hard jobs, so they have the comfy bunks that are essentially hotel rooms. Chuck is gonna have his work cut out for him from now on, and requests additional help since he can't do all the housekeeping by himself. He can put up with the struggle for now, though.

You and the boys pop a bottle of champagne as you look over the large chamber, like a king lording over his kingdom. Everyone heads over to get a couple words in, and you congratulate them on a job well done. One week of service! No deaths, you've managed to get a handle on your monster (relatively) and cashflow looks like it's going to get better from here. And to top it off, you're leaving your crew with comfortable lodgings from now on. No more shitty beds and sleeping bags. Jim and John are particularly grateful. Jim doesn't remember the last time he had a real bed, and John tells a story about how he got hospitalised after getting caught in a riot, and the best thing about it was the infirmary bed.

Finally, after spending some quality time with them, you prepare to leave for the day.
