Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll a D100 unless otherwise specified.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of Seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills.

Last time, you made it to Lake Clarity after refusing to battle Mike, had a weird dream, discovered Holly was Psychic, encountered Latias, fought off Team Green and caught an Applin.

"...Probably Flapple." You say after a moment's thought.

"I'll see if I have any Tart Apples when we make camp." Kathryn replies, giving you a nod.

You continue onward from there. The clouds stick around, but you're confident that today at least, should hold fair, considering Queenie doesn't seem worried.

As you make your way along the track, you take some time to just admire the scenery:

Lake Clarity is bordered by scrubby bushland, a lot like Route 1, except far lusher. There's a lot of variety in the pokemon you see as well as pokemon from all around make their way to the lake to drink.

The path is well maintained, but it looks like it might be a bit of an issue trying to find a campsite later on. It looks pretty dense off the path.

You take out your pokedex and take a look at a map of the route you're taking.

There're a few marked campsites along the trail, the closest of which you can make by nightfall, but with Holly, it'll probably be a bit tight.

Thus armed with a destination for the night, you go back to taking in the view and looking for pokemon.

There're the expected Magikarp jumping out of the water, along with Basculin. The water's deeper along this section of shoreline, so you can't make out any Clauncher now and the trees and brush have thinned out a little on your right. In the trees, you can see a flock of Starly and they fill the air with their warbling cries.

You keep walking and looking out at the lake for pokemon.

Holly follows your lead and initally gets excited at the splashing indicating something's there, but every time, it turns out to be a Basculin.

After an hour or so, the water becomes more shallow again and you begin to see Psyduck wading in the shallows and Poliwag swimming among patches of weed.

If there's anything else, it's hiding in amongst the grass, rocks and the occasional fallen log.

You're not especially interested in any of the pokemon you see here and it's a little early to be stopping for a break besides, so you keep walking and focus on making up ground for the time being, enjoying the scenery around the lake and the pleasant, late-autumn weather.

Out of an abundance of prudence, you check the forecast.

It seems there's a chance of rain tomorrow and the day after, but otherwise it should be fairly pleasant.

It's getting fairly close on towards lunch now and accoridng to your map, there should be a nice, sheltered cove you can stop for lunch at.

"Hey, Fie?" You ask as you pause to look in your pack at the egg in its incubator.

"What's up?" she asks as she pauses while you ascertain that the egg is okay and the incubator is working.

The egg moves occasionally, independent of your jostling the pack, which you take as a good sign, though, you've got no idea how close it is to hatching. It could hatch in a few hours, or a few days for all you know.

"Just wondering if you want to spar a bit when we break for lunch." You say as you do your pack up again.

"Well, your arm is basically back to how it should be." She admits. "And you don't need your arms for what you do..." She adds, clearly talking herself into it. "Sure. Be interesting to see if that dream was Holly hyping you up or not." She adds, poking you in the side as you start walking again.

And it's infested with Team Green grunts.

"More of these assholes?" Fie says, exasperated.

You decide to hang back and watch.

This wasn't how you planned to spend lunch, but then, you weren't planning on dealing with a bunch of fashion-challenged vegan extremists on this journey either.

Life has a way of throwing the unexpected at you, you guess.

Most of the grunts are just milling about.

A couple of them are committing petty vandalism to a park bench and a couple of what you assume passes for senior, responsible, grunts are restlessly checking their phones.

Eventually, as the hour mark passes, they seem to say screw it and start coming back up the path towards you, though they don't seem to have seen you yet.

"Go, Sage!" You say, releasing her as Gareth releases his Mienfoo.

Sage lands nimbly as the lead two grunts step forward and release a Poochyena and a Roselia respectively.

The leaf litter and underbrush is thankfully not tinder dry, but you're still wary of using any Fire-type moves off the path here.

"Bite, Poochyena!" The left most of the lead Grunts says, jabbing a finger at Sage.

"Magical Leaf on Mienfoo, Roselia!" The other grunt says.

"Sage, Psybeam on Roselia you order.

What happens next is a confusion of movement:

Poochyena leaps at Sage and is intercepted by Mienfoo, which darts back to Gareth after hitting Poochyena with U-turn and staggering it so badly it loses all momentum and does nowhere near the damage its bite should have to Sage. Then, Gareth releases Druddigon, who is immediately peppered by Roselia's Magical Leaf.

Sage, who is easily the most inexperienced pokemon on the field at present, now that you've seen the others move, then nails Roselia with Psybeam knocking it back, though not putting it out of the fight, though it clearly felt that.

Druddigon moves first again and glares at Roselia, making it hesitate in fear, giving Sage enough time to launch a third Psybeam and bowl it over.

She recalls Dragonair, then Judy releases her Braviary.

"Sky Drop those Grunts on the road back to Newport, Braviary!" She calls as the huge bird pokemon circles.

In response, her Braviary swoops down and grabs the miniature ice berg, before taking off and quickly heading out of sight.

"Nope. They're kind of a pricey specialist item though." Judy says. "Think we should call the police?" She asks.

"No... technically, no crime's been committed this time." You reply. "That being said, Detective Winters gave me her number. I'll let her know about this and see what she says." You add.

"That's fair." Judy agrees, nodding, before leaving you to do just that as she helps Gareth and Kathryn with lunch.

Once you're finished, Fie waves you over to where she's cleared an area of sticks so you can hae your spar.

"Right, let's not go too overboard." Fie says.

"Yeah, no reason to risk an injury." You agree as you square up.

There's a beat, before Fie moves, aiming a kick at your ribs, which you side-step before ducking to go for a trip yourself, forcing Fie to jump, off balance to avoid being tripped, putting you firmly in control of the flow of the fight.

Fie definitely knows her stuff, since she maintains a good deal of pressure on you, even after you gained the initiative.

It's not enough though. Your fighting style trips her up constantly, leaving her wide open when you side-step or turn about, until you finally wind up tripping her and pinning her until she taps out.

"Huh. Not bad." Fie says as you help her up.

"I could say the same to you." You admit as you wipe your brow.

"We should do this more often. No such thing as too many sparring partners." Fie adds, rolling her neck.

Further discussion is interrupted by Kathryn calling you to lunch.

You release your team and divvy up the food, before tending to Sage with a potion, then get your own meal.

If you have any of the packaging or better yet, any of the Scopes, hang onto them. They're evidence. I'm sending someone to collect it. It reads.

"Hey, just put all that in a plastic bag. Detective Winters is sending someone to pick it up." You call to Gareth, who's still collecting all the packaging.

"Got it." He calls, giving you a wave.

That taken care of, you look around, trying to decide what to do until Winter's officer arrives.

Queenie isn't quite as quick on the uptake, but by the time half an hour has gone, she's made progress.

Meanwhile, you watch your pokemon practice and tap into the aura as you do, experimentally.

It's strange. You can see a shimmer in front of you and Gareth does a double-take at you more than once. You can feel... something, but you can't be sure that you're accomplishing anything, but you get the feeling this is definitely an experiment to revisit at a later date.

You recall all of your team barring Sage and go down to the water's edge.

There's a few rocks off in the distance a ways that should make good targets.

"Okay Sage, see those rocks out there?" You ask, indicating.

She blinks up at you, before tilting her head as she examines them.

"I want you to use Ember and try and hit them." You say.

This is a bit of an ask, considering the distance involved and the relative power of Ember, but it should be good training trying to do this.

Sage nods, before she starts spitting little flames out at the rocks, casting reflections in the still water, next to you and her both.

"That sounds like a plan to me." She agrees, before coming to join you by the lake, releasing her Rampardos.

Obligingly, you release Rusty and the lesson begins.

Jean has Rampardos use Stealth Rock a few times to show him how it's done while she lectures you on how the move works and how to get the most out of it.

You spend the next half an hour with Rusty practicing Stealth Rock under Jean's instruction.

You're just finishing up when there's a rush of air as a pokemon comes into land, along with a startled yell as the Braviary in question and its rider are pelted with little stones from your practice.

"Oh, Arceus, are you alright?" Jean asks in alarm, hurrying up as the riderbrushes himself off.

"Just fine." The officer replies irritably. "Which one of you decided it'd be a good idea to lay Stealth Rocks when you knew you'd have someone flying in to see you?" He asks, glowering around at everyone.

Considering what you're going to be doing tonight, you decide that you should look into Feebas a little more, specifically, the best place to try and catch them.

As it turns out, the answer to this question is 'anywhere, but good luck finding them'.

Apparently, Feebas are incredibly hardy and can survive anywhere from the ocean, to shallow, muddy pools, to weed-choked ponds.

What makes them so notoriously difficult to catch, is their tendency to form colonies in very specific areas.

She's so earnest and puts so much effort into keeping up, it's hard not to respect her.

You're about to suggest you leave the line be and go do something else for a bit when there's an unmistakable twitch in the rod as the line is hit.

Suddenly, the fish on the end tires markedly and shortly, you're pulling it up onto the shore.

On the hook is what you recognise as a Barboach, struggling still, but clearly beginning to run out of steam.

"Um... yeah." She says, a look of indecision on her face for a moment while she's looking at Barboach as it splashes about in the shallows, before she nods firmly.

She pulls out another of those black and red poke balls and taps Barboach with it.

It vanishes, before the ball rocks and finally clicks.

She beams at you.

"Thanks." She says. "I guess you wore her out reeling her in." She says.

"No problem." You assure.

Still, you dig your heels in and park yourself on the ground, the better to give yourself leverage as you haul back and reel in during the brief windows you can.

Right, so bit of housekeeping before I update:

First: You do have modifiers. Added your stats to the character doc for clarity's sake.

Anyone has any input on whether it should be +5 or +10 per ten points in a stat, I'm listening.

Second: Putting my desktop in for a service tomorrow, so updates might slow down.

And with that said, on to the update.

"Alright, Queenie, this one's all you." You say as you release her.

Immediately, Dratini responds with a roiling ball of violet fire, which envelopes Queenie and proceeds to do precisely nothing to her.

"Careful there, Alex. That was a Dragon Rage." Martha warns. "Unless you've got more Fairy-types, you're going to want Queenie in for as long as possible here."

You grimace.

You know Dragon Rage, vaguely, by reputation. It's a stupidly good move, pretty much irrespective of the situation.

You leave the subject there and just focus on your meal for a while, before Judy perks up.
