Hello everyone and welcome to the Big Tank, an Evo game where you collectively take simple creatures and help them fill niches and adapt to their environment by adding features to them in the drawing program of your choice! The last thread still hasn't expired yet, but the most recent post is over a month old, so it's time for me to pick the survivors and move on to a new era!

The environment has changed: it is now cooler and dryer than before! Four creatures have survived the move from the last era to this one: the Bleen, the Schut, the Plimp, and the Plonpe. You can see them represented in the starting image of this thread and the next four posts will include their individual pngs.

Every so often I, your quest master, will change the environment and kill off all but the most well-adapted creatures. These creatures will become the starting animals for the next thread.

Do not be afraid to add features to creatures other people have already modified- the more people who work on a species, the better!

Artistic ability is not required to participate; just draw with your whole heart!

It's time to evolve!
>>
Also, player vote: How long after the last evolution is posted should I wait before making a new thread/era?

To fit the soft bodies of the Schut into their mouths, some Bleen develop larger, perpetually open mouths.

I'd say like, a month or so? So what you already did. If an Evogame goes dead, it's because people lost interest, so waiting a while for interest to be renewed might be good.

Seems way too early to go from rudimentary photoreceptors to compound eyes.

schutta have not really compound eyes more strips of photoreceptors going towards a center in triangular patches it can sort of tell the direction light even if its more used to navigate towards the source of shadows such as plimps even if its a slow feeding process not to get injured by the not so hard or sharp spikes that can still injure tender mostly water tissues

Tasting really badly is surprisingly effective, as the basic sensory input of acidic bitterness the bitterblenta has in it body is used by organisms to gauge the acidity of their aquatic environment so it cannot simply be ignored, as water can become dangerously acidic when carbon dioxide dissolves in it, forming carbonic acid, which lower the waters PH, And straying into particularly acidic waters can be bad for living organism, throwing the balance of many aspects of their physiology out of wack. so the ability to sense the dangers acidity of an environment through taste would be vital and not something that would be easily evolved away in a aquatic environment making this defense very persistent to evolutionary pressures
