Off towards the Ox King’s village, you meet up with Cheelai and the Para Para bros, with Hakka tagging along too. Well, you agreed to this. Cheelai grins at you. “Thanks again for this, boss. You’re all right, you know that?”

You give a soft bump to her elbow with your fist. “Yeah yeah. You two won this fair and square, but don’t try and be cheeky about it.”

She does exactly that, patting you on the shoulder. “So boys, where will it be?”

“Hmmm… if I’m bein’ honest, I don’t really have a preference.” Don Para replies. “But I am looking for somethin’ that would give us plenty to chow down on, ya’ dig?”

“Ah yeah, now that’s sounding like a good idea.” Bon Para agrees, their younger brother cheering with him as well. “Oh, what about you, green guy?”

Hakka shrugs. “I wouldn’t mind that. Maybe something with some vegetarian options though. Always up for trying some of those.”

Cheelai looks at you. “Got any you’d recommend that fits that criteria?”

Hmm…

“Okay, first off, before we go aaaaanywhere, we need to actually dress for the occasion.” you tell the group. “Boys! Let’s get you all some proper suits and the like. Or… at least something fitting attire.”

“...You Earthlings dress up for dinners?” Bon Para questions Hakka.

“Usually only formal ones. I think she’s just trying to find an excuse for us to be more presentable and comfortable.” the fox boy replies.

“I heard that!” you exclaim. “…But yes, let’s look a bit better. It’ll be real quick.”

Pulling out a fashion magazine, Cheelai starts to flip through it. “Well, if you’re willing to go through with this, I’ve got some ideas…” She stops at a few places to make sure you see them. One’s… a rather short qipao, another a more formal black dress, and one more a… bit of a risque two-piece with fishnet gloves and leggings. “I mean, if you’re willing to pay, that is.”

You give her a bit of a side-eye. “Cheelai, you’re forgetting what your boss is capable of.”

She blinks. “Eh?”

And you use the Clothes Beam to give yourself a more formal outfit, fancy and fashionable, elegant yet comfortable. You even strike a bit of a pose with it. “Mahou, remember?”

“...I gotta learn how to do that some day.” she mumbles under her breath.

The boys agree to this, with you giving them some dinner outfits to them. Vests and jackets for the Para Para boys, styled to kinda match their normal color schemes a bit better, and a formal jacket for Hakka. Cheelai you give the black dress she showed off, made a biiiit more comfortable than it looked in the magazine, and you lead everyone towards a teppanyaki restaurant you’ve heard good things about, Sky Gold.

The group of you are gathered at a decently large table with a grill as the centerpiece to it. Don Para looks over the thing curiously after getting Son Para into a high chair. “So… what’s the deal with this kind of restaurant?” he asks you quietly.

“It’s part dinner, part show. The chef brings out the food and cooks it right in front of ya, even allowing some extra input on how you like it cooked.” you explain, then looking over the menu. “And let’s see… sake, seltzer, spirits, martinis…”

“You are absolutely not going to fool anyone into thinking you’re 20.” Hakka remarks.

“Especially since a good number of us know ya, princess.” a waiter remarks as he approaches. You actually recognize him as one of grandpa Ox King’s chefs, a tall tan man with orange-ish hair. Can’t… quite recall his name at the moment. Eyes dart to the nametag. Curry? Curry. You’ll have to remember that. “Usual drink, Izumi?”

The usual? No. No tonight you’re gonna be DARING. You’re gonna live a little! Sure you’re not old enough to have your first sip of sake, but you can try something a exciting and new! “I’ll take this… specialty drink here.” you tell the man, pointing at the green drink. You smile at Cheelai and Hakka and add a quiet “Team Green~” for emphasis.

“...Very well, Princess Izumi.” he affirms with a clear, hesitant pause.

“Soooo… Curry, huh? What are you doing here, if you don’t mind my asking?”

He gives you a kind smile after taking Cheelai and Hakka’s drink orders. “Been expanding my horizons a bit. The Ox King doesn’t need my expertise all the time, and while it still pays well, I wanted to apply what I can do beyond just the palace. They don’t need me on any of the grills today, but I’m a regular here.”

“Oh. Yeah, that makes sense.” You give a nod of agreement and let him take everyone else’s orders. With that done, the lot of you make some small talk, and you yourself ask the Para Para bros, “Say, Don, Bon, what were the usual meals you two and your brother had before ending up with as part of this gang?”

“Was a bit of a boom and bust kind of thing, if I’m bein’ honest.” Don began. “We’d end up often with lighter meals between big paydays, be it ramen stops or even rations. But when we hit it big, we’d eat good. Royal meals and feasts and the like.”

“...Which sadly wasn’t as often as we would have liked. Plus a lot of things we did for cash weren’t always things the Galactic Patrol appreciated.”

“Definitely aware of that…” you remark, leaning back a bit. “Also wait, ramen?”

“Well yeah. Lotta places have ramen on the cheap.”

You think for a moment, recalling a few things you’d heard from your dad and aunt. “I guess if they have diners out there in space… oh, what other restaurants have you all been to? I’ve heard of Gus’ Galaxy Grill-”

“Don’t order the special.” Don, Bon, Cheelai, and even yourself comment in unison. The four of you laugh after a beat.

“-Aheh, but, what else is out there in your experiences?” you finally finish.

“Place I used to stop at was attached to a large casino, High Roller.” Cheelai chimes in. “Was purposefully underpriced to keep the gamblers well-fed and happy while hunting for the big payout. Ice crabs, jiggler jelly, even Pitalan Freshwater sushi.”

A seafood place, from the sound of things. Hakka at the very least is intrigued. “Huh. Would you recommend?” he questions.

Cheelai shakes her head. “Nah, High Roller tends to be on the shadier side of food stops. As good as some of the food there can be, lot of pickpockets like to scope out targets there. Off-worlders with deep pockets especially.”

“Lookin’ out for me, huh? Well don’t worry, I’ve got my ways of blending in.” the fox boy remarks.

You look back and forth between the pair. “…Sssssso. Team Green. You two, uh, sticking together for the long term?”

The pair glance at one another, then shrug and give a nonchalant “Eh.” in reply.

“...What do you mean ‘eh’? Come on, are you two… y’know…?”

They shrug again. “Guess so?”

“...How can the two of you be so blase about this?” you ask almost incredulously.

Cheelai shrugs again. “You actually curious, or just trying to make conversation? Because I could ask just the same about you and Mr. Hero you were making goo-goo eyes with.”

…Touche.

>A. Oh hey look there’s the chef! Get ready for the show, everyone! And pay no more mind to whatever we were just talking about! Hahahaaa…

Ugh. Sorry that tonight hit a delay. We are back now though! Even if it's gonna be a short night.

You take in a deep breath and slowly exhale. “Look, I… I don’t want to impose. He’s only really been around in this time for about a year, and he kinda needs to adjust, y’know? I’ve got a lot on my plate still, plenty to do, see, accomplish, before I really need to start thinking about that kinda’ stuff.”

“Huh. That’s… a surprisingly mature outlook.” Cheelai remarks.

“As expected of your boss, ey?” you reply with a grin, and take a sip from the drink you were given. It’s… matcha… mint… m-melon? Mwhut? … “Midori Maelstrom” is the drink name. That’s… unique.

Cheelai and Hakka seem to be enjoying it, at the very least. As you wait, you notice a different table with an… uncommon chef ending up there. An alien, with olive-green skin and some bits of hazelnut-orange hair. Cheelai and the Para Para bros notice him too, though they don’t seem as surprised as you are. Hakka shrugs it off. Gonna need to think on that one later.

The chef for your table finally arrives, a pig beastman with a formal demeanor. “Hello hello, good patrons! I, Chef Zhu, will be serving you all today.” He stars pouring some oil on the grill as he talks. “I see here we have the Spicy Veggie Tofu meal for you, kind sir!” he addresses Hakka as he chops an onion in half and stacks the layers of the rings on top of each other. “For you sir, the Triple Threat!” The chef rolls a trio of bowls containing shrimp, calamari, and scallops as he addresses Don Para. “For you sir, the Crustacean Battle!” A lobster tail and crab meat end up stacked as part of a now-growing pyramid of bowls. “Ah, and young miss, the Yakisoba!” A bowl of noodles joins the pyramid as he starts chopping vegetables. The onions end up a small mound of them, to which he pours a bit more oil into, then gives a spray of cooking oil at the top. It starts smoking… and then the chef snaps his finger, a spark hitting the top of the mound, and the smoke becomes a jet of flame! …Was that a trick, or did you just sense his Ki spike slightly?

“Oooooh!” all of you end up exclaiming as you watch the onion volcano. But that ends up a distraction, as a few other gathered onions are pushed around in a little chain, with a vegetable on top of each, and a taller stack with steam coming out from it. An onion train, how cute! Karrage chicken are handed to Son Para, and the boy starts chowing down.

Spinning an egg on the spatula in his hand, the chef finally addresses you. “And you, Princess Izumi, ordered…”

“...the House Okonomiyaki Special!~” The egg is chopped and spilled onto some wheat noodles, chopped cabbage, swordfish, cheese, and batter in another bowl, then mixed together. And after it’s mixed thoroughly, the chef sets it down to fry up, adding another, scrambled egg on top, followed by bonito flakes, very light shaved ginger, a very hard and flaky cheese, and finally a few different sauces. Bowls of three-egg fried rice are scooped up and placed on your respective plates, followed by each main course. Chef Zhu cleans up a few of the remaining scraps and with a spin, politely tells you all, “Please, enjoy the meals!” For emphasis, he snaps his fingers again and a puff of fire briefly dances across the grill, with the chef bowing and pushing his supplies away.

You clap your hands together lead everyone in a declaration of “Itadakimasu!~” and dig in. Oh, oh this is so savory! It’s got a nice outer crunch but a perfectly balanced mix of flavors in every bite. And the sauces add the perfect amount of sweetness to compliment the savory! Ahh, it almost makes you forget how much this is gonna cost you.

Almost.

But everyone else is absolutely enjoying these meals, the Para Para bros especially. The boys raise their glasses to you. “To Team Green, for setting this up, and our boss, for following through with it and giving us all a chance!”

You smile and raise your drink as well. “Hey, you all deserve it. You’ve been working hard, you’ve been improving, you might as well enjoy some time to enjoy yourselves.”

“It sure beats custody in the Galactic Patrol.” Cheelai cheekily remarks.

After making your way through a good portion of your food, Curry approaches, asking, “Enjoying the meal?”

“Mhmm!” you agree enthusiastically.

“Say, Chef Zhu there, where exactly did he learn a trick like…” You snap your fingers, letting a spark of flame pop from them. Enough for the point you’re trying to make. “…that? Or, is it a restaurant secret?”

He gives a knowing smile. “Well, what I can say is that you’ve certainly got a good eye, Princess Izumi. Some of us may have learned a few… useful tricks, thanks to your family.”

Ohhhh, dad’s probably shown some how to do it. Yeah that’d make sense. “All right then. Well nice to see such skills put to more creative uses.” He gives a nod and heads off. You end up with some dessert of your own, sea salt ice cream in a taiyaki cone, when it hits you that dad’s probably done so with equivalent exchange.

In any case, the experience has been a good one. Cheelai’s happy, the Para Para bros are happy, and even Hakka seems pleased. “Hooo boy! I am stuffed.” Cheelai cheers contentedly. “Thanks again boss.”

You place your hands in your pockets as you walk. “Well don’t expect it to be a regular occurrence… but hit to my wallet aside, I’m glad you all enjoyed yourselves.”

“We did indeed!” Bon Para declares.

“Thanks to you two as well, Team Green. Your hard work made this happen.” Don Para compliments to the pair. Cheelai and Hakka just give him a thumb’s up.

You decide to check your phone, finding some messages on it. Sachie sent you a photo of her outside a ramen shop… shaped like a giant ramen bowl, hah, cute. Peppa’s sent you some photographed sketches of… aww, it’s some scenes of you and Tapion at Dream Land. Saaaaving that one. Apparently Gohan and Buu are working on that cool cursed sword they’ve got, she says. Maple’s helping out too. Neat. And… huh, seems Pantea’s kinda upset over something. You meanwhile sense dad and Monty off training nearby.

You place your hands on your hips and sigh dramatically. “Should have expected that. How about you guys?”

The three brothers share glances at one another, then nod at you. “If it’s all right with you, boss, we’ll take the day off too. Gonna get some practice in, y’ dig?” Bon Para responds.

You give them a nod. “Got it. Check the Scouter you were given a while back, got some Earth music you can use for samples in case you’re feeling like switching things up a bit.”

“Best boss!” Son Para cheers.

The three head off on their own, and now it’s just you. Well, better double-check what’s upsetting Pantea. It’s a text that reads… “They ruined it!” with an angry emoticon set next to it. Wow, straight-up emoticon. She IS upset.

‘Who ruined what?’

‘Gameplay, story direction, even her character! Ruined! FOREVER!’

…Her? OH. Oh yeah that new game she’s been looking forward to. Other… Mother… something. Guess it’s out now. And Pantea is noooot liking it from the sound of things. Welp.

You approach Capsule Corp. as you continue talking with Pantea and Gohan, switched to voice instead of text. Your cousin’s still rather miffed, but he’s turned how disgruntled he is towards a more… positive direction, at the very least. Now they’re just going back and forth on game ideas. Outside of Capsule Corp, you notice an odd set of machines… vehicles of some kind? They’re spread out on the massive back lawn and you spot Bulma and a few other Capsule Corp. scientists working on them.

“Okay, we’ve got a design document set up.” Gohan informs you. “And it only took 3 pints of ice cream.”

“Three and a half.” Pantea corrects. “Say, did you have any input you wanted to throw our way, Izzy?”

“There’s half a pint of ice cream waiting for you!”

“It’s those MOGUERA units Gohan recovered from Monster Island. We’re repairing them and modifying them so they can handle an underground inferno a bit better.” she explains.

“GIRU! GIRU! I’m helping!” the little robot exclaims as he pops up from near one of the vehicles. “Modifications made to MOGUERA unit 3 complete.”

“No issues with the reprogramming?” Bulma questions.

“Viral layer scrubbed and replaced.” he responds cheerily. Giru then turns to you, waving his arms. “Izumi, Izumi! Good to see you again!”

“Same to you, lil’ guy. You been keepin’ up the good work?”

He stands up and nods his… body in reply, then flings his arms up. “New holographic projector successfully integrated! Giru, Giru.”

That’s new. “Holographic projector? Nice, but why for?”

“For things such as this!” He spreads his arms out… and makes a little rainbow above his head between them. Aw. Cute. Giru looks upward, then shimmies his arms again, making a much larger rainbow… with another one above it.

You snicker. “Is that a double rainbow? All the way? Across the sky?”

“Yeah! Yeah!”

With a cheeky grin, you share a fist bump with the lil’ bot. Walking towards Bulma, you look over the machinery. “So they’re a combiner, huh?”

“Effectively, yes. Each one can move on its own for transport, then link up for their intended purpose of large-scale yet remote drilling. We want it to be able to stand higher temperatures for prolonged periods of time. Mostly worked out.”

You look back at them again, some of the scientists affixing sheets of metal, others giving one of the pieces a short test drive. “It working out so far?”

“Honestly at this point I think it could drill halfway to the center of the earth, with what we’ve done to it.” Bulma responds confidently. That… might not even be sarcasm. Bit of an overkill, but eh.

“We were able to get a flight mode operational. Pod Corporation apparently intended it to be there from the start, but there was a flaw in the power draw.” She places her hands on her hips and smirks. “Needless to say, Capsule Corp once again outdoes Pod Corporation.”

“Nice. Maybe you could go the extra mile with alternate modes? After all, if it can hit magma, might be good to have some kind of submersible mode, allow it to actually traverse the liquid rock, dense as it might be.”

Her face lights up a bit. “Oooh, we could adapt some of the bits from the Capsule Submarines for that…”

“Wonder if you can add other ‘teams’ to it, for those extra features… keep it able to function normally, then add those on to give it extra features…” You tap your chin. “…Maybe a dinosaur team too…” you think aloud.

“A dinosaur team?” Bulma repeats, smirking still.

“Hey! You never know when you need a few robot dinosaurs around.” you respond quickly. “Ahem, you need any help with this? Since I’m here and throwing out some ideas and all.”

“Well… if you’re offering.” She scrolls through some things on her datapad. “Pantea mentioned you’ve got some experience with circuitry. That right?”

You show off the Hakkero to her. “Hundred percent right. I got this working, after all.”

“All right, that gives us some options. You got a preference, Izzy?”

I remember suggesting how Izzy could make her own Hakkero after going on a journey around Earth, even included stops like Konpei, Annin, Melchior, Baba, Bulma, Trip, and even Beelzebub to get all the technical, material, and mystical info, but nope, Izzy goes on a random adventure to space and cribs how to make the thing from aliens.

It's probably that a player character can only be inspired, never creative, so we should probably get to binge-watching robot animes so we can be inspired to learn the Best Technique: how to shoot missiles out our boobs.

I don't feel appreciated with how my idea for an adventure was aborted and co-opted into another one. There could have been so many things to bounce off of that list of characters you like to use but rarely get a chance to except for exposition, what with random favors they'd ask of Izzy, and Izzy could learn new things that would build towards making a Hakkero, instead the short and easy route of "Throw the end result of Hakkeros at them after Space Cave."

It was like wanting to prepare a dish, looking up how to do it, deciding where to get all the best ingredients from, but when you're finally driving us out to get food, instead of the store we go to Space McDonalds and get the Hakkero off the dollar menu.

“Got it!” You hop on over and open it up. Okay, this actually isn’t as complicated as you thought it might be, though there’s a number of connections that don’t fit quite right. Peeking above it, you spot the other one, and start to match the connections. Getting a few done, you comment to Bulma, “You know, it’s funny, the thing that got me to look into how to connect circuits like this were the reactors over at Z’S, the Hakkero ones.”

“Have been curious about those.” she replies. “I’m no expert on Magic, but from what was described to me, it’s like meeting Magic and conventional tech at the halfway point. Applying connections in certain patterns with specific materials to carry energy through.”

“Effectively, yeah, but the ones on Z’S don’t match the Earth’s. Different planets, different patterns.” Okay, got that one connected… and that one… and there! “You and Pantea helped 19 upgrade herself to be capable of using Magic herself, right? Plus you have those Ki containers you developed with Aunt Maple. I don’t think it’d be that difficult to really get the basics, if you asked Nazar if you could look into ‘em.”

“Hah, I’ll have to put that on my list.” Bulma states as she moves over to one of the drill parts.

Oh, there’s something you think you could improve on a bit. Small connection here, small one there… “Done!” You pat them and hop back. “What next?”

“Hey, you offered to help, and we were more than happy to have you.” You notice her writing out something. “Here ya go, little something for your trouble.”

You should head over to Gohan and Pantea soon… but first, you should give that idea of yours a try. Heading away from the machines, you give yourself some space. “Hey Bulma, gonna test something out for a minute.” Okay… MAHOU KNIGHT! You form the mech around you, and next try to develop… a little something extra. Just gotta imagine it, then put your power into it… there!

The mech’s hands hold out and form a sphere of energy between them, which condenses down into a sort of helmet that looks a BIT like the one your mom used to wear, complete with the boomerang horn on top! It’s simple, but it’s a proof of concept. Even fits on the mech’s head, perfect! Which means… yes! The horn can disconnect and act as a boomerang! You throw it with one hand, then let it fly back and catch it with the other.

You finally notice a number of the Capsule Corp scientists staring slack-jawed at you, though Bulma herself is just smiling in approval. “Thanks for not breaking anything. Didn’t want to have to break out the barriers for just this.”

“Hey, I’m not clumsy most of the time, cut me some slack.” You place the horn back on the mech’s head and finally power down from it, the mech, and helmet, vanishing into thin air. “Besides, a Slugger that size isn’t gonna do THAT much damage.”

“...Slugger?” one scientist repeats, to which another lets out a soft “Ohhh!” of understanding.

Anyway your work here is done! You head into the building and end up at the room you’ve noticed Gohan and Pantea are in. Inside… a few empty cartons of ice cream, several scribbled out pages of ideas, a… few action figures? Not sure why those are out but okay cool.

“Hey Izzy.” both Gohan and Pantea greet, the two crowded over a triple-monitor computer.

“Soooo… you two making good progress?” you question.

“Yep. Much more productive than moping about it for the next few hours.” Pantea replies.

“Weeks.” Gohan corrects, actually turning to face you. “So, we still got some ice cream if you want.”

You look over at the half-finished pint. “Tempting. But instead, think about this: soundtrack. You’re a guitarist with literal training from a god that can rock.”

“This is true and I appreciate the acknowledgement.” your cousin proudly replies. “Okay, yeah, that could work.”

You snap your fingers. “Ooh, actually, on that note… like, Tapion’s ocarina could like, be used against Hirudegarn and stuff. Can your guitar do anything like that?”

“No…” Gohan begins, but hesitates. After thinking it over for a moment, he adds, “…t yet. Not yet. I mean, the guitar’s enchantments are more for its functions as an actual guitar, not a weapon. But maybe I could get a spare to practice with. Hmm… Wing Magic might help with enchanting songs, somehow…”

“Wanna test the idea out? Here, something to play when I transform!”

“Let’s get the basics down first. Work on movement and functionality.” you state, gathering up some materials, most notably a controller for better feedback. You, Pantea, and Izzy all end up in the atrium, with your cousin setting her mech up first. So, the basics. Something that disappointed you and Pantea the most was the static, “cinematic” camera. So, Izzy projects up a simple test environment, you and Pantea direct her to make a figure to populate it, along with a few obstacles. If you want to be this more of a 3D Metroidvania without repeating the… mistakes of past ones, you need to have a decent awareness of the surroundings you’d move through. Okay, controller synched up to Izzy’s mech, and…

…And this proves to be a much more difficult task than you initially thought. In part because of the medium you’re using. Having the camera follow the character does kinda work, but Izzy doesn’t quite match collision detection how it should… which results in a tiny figure bouncing off one of the walls and bonking you right in the face.

Ow.

“Why are they physical objects?” you complain.

“Hey I told you what I could do! Besides you’ve taken worse hits than that.” Izzy retorts. “This is for demonstration purposes, you’re getting a demonstration.”

“Fine, fine… ugh, hey, maybe move the camera back a bit.”

That gives a better view. The character moves through the obstacles easily, and it doesn’t break through the boundaries and clock you in the face. Okay, good. Other basics. Camera tracking is good, but how’s an enemy suffice? Izzy conjures up one that looks like… some kind of simplistic puppet… wizard…? Oh two of them. One with glasses and one with red hair. Aaaand they’re trying to bat at the character you’re controlling. It doesn’t look like it’s doing much more than bothering you. Very annoying. Okay, a simple attack should get rid of them. Pantea explains the setup you two came up with, and… CANNON SMACK! And that knocks the two bothers away. And… dead. Very dead. Oh Izzy managed to get them to drop some treasure. Sweet! Loot! So, that kinda works.

Now for slightly more involved basics. Targets for shooting. She sets up a little gallery, and nice, there is a form of lock-on feature. Basic blasts, explosive blasts, those work. Flying objects, flying enemies, camera is able to track them without zooming in too much. Last up, exploration. More involved but still basic environment, with what Izzy says are two secrets hidden within it. One’s a bit more obvious, the other a bit better hidden. You move around a bit more cautiously, spotting a flask up on a platform. And getting up there are moving platforms. Okay, gotta properly maneuver across them. And a one, and a two, and a three!

“Got ye flask!” Izzy declares.

Looking around again, there’s what looks like slightly off-base wall material. Blast it open…

“Secret Collect!” she adds. “Good job, you win. Now, any other things you want to use my highly sophisticated Magic-empowered knight mech for? I mean, I don’t know if I can make proper games on this… yet.”

She’s being cheeky but she does seem to be enjoying this. “Can’t even run DOOM on it?” you retort.

There’s a pause before she replies with “Don’t tempt me.”

Okay, bit of a delay, but we're back!

“All right, I think we’re good for now. We got what we wanted for some basic tests and I think we’ve gotten over the initial anger that game brought about. You still wanna give that Music Magic a try?”

Izzy’s mech disappears and she hops down, grinning. “Ab-so-lutely!~”

The three of go over the idea, with you getting your guitar out to try a few tunes. You notice that Izzy’s transformation sorta gives off its own natural, Magical “tone” of sorts. It’s brief, but it’s definitely THERE. There’s a C, a D, and an E, all in Major. Hmm… maybe you can work with this. But how…? Wait. WAIT. You’ve got it!

If it starts in C Major, you can extend it into… the Royal Road! And with that as a solid focus, you can have Izzy put some Magic into it! The combination of your guitar playing and Izzy’s Magic give the tunes some “weight” that you all can feel, it’s… energizing, in a way. You have Pantea get out a sampler to try mixing some other instruments in, working to match them with the Magic.

Now for a proper test… and you’ve got just the thing! Hehehehehe…

As Izzy transforms in a flash of emerald light, you notice her aura ends up almost twice as vibrant as before. “W-woah! This feels great! It’s… it feels like I just downed a Senzu Bean after exhausting myself. Gohan it worked! It worked perfectly, it-!” Your cousin stops in the middle of her excited declarations as she notices just what song you used as the basis for this. She’s pouting. “You didn’t.”

“Didn’t what?” You’re grinning cheekily but you know exactly what you did. Pantea’s struggling to hold in her giggles.

Izzy stares daggers at you. “Oh you’ll pay for that.”

In essence, it’s a combo technique. It doesn’t take a lot to actually get going, but it does need proper focus. So, let’s focus! Get that just right, and…

The song does seem to have a similar effect, which makes a bit of sense. It’s about the same at the base, just remixed. Though it does seem to sort of… “spread out” more rather than focus on a single person. In any case, Pantea takes to it fairly well.

You try one that fits Pantea better, and she does appreciate it. But more importantly, it has a very, very slight recovery effect. It won’t be replacing lost limbs or anything, but the upbeat combination of music and Magic might be good for easing off some damage taken. This is perfect! It might be a combo attack, but it’s at the very least comparable to Chuu Lee’s healing and Wind Magic combo. Might even be able to pump it up more with the right amount of practice.

Okay, next up, maybe something more foreboding, like facing down a big, powerful game boss. Izzy conjures up a large test dummy shaped like… Hirudegarn? Well, that works! So how to go about this one? …Aha! Maybe something with a bit more metal to it, to drive home the threat!

That one looks like it’s given a bit of a boost to her defenses. There’s a slightly easier time moving around imagined attacks, and even taking an imagined hit. Nice! You’re on a roll here!

…Ah. Well. That didn’t quite work out. Maybe there’s an elemental key to it? Fire should be well within your capabilities, and this definitely has a “Fire” vibe to it. Though, you also kinda feel Izzy can’t quite match the Magical boost she’s giving from it. Maybe for a proper power boost you need some extra oomph… oh well, things to work on.

Let’s give this one more try. Izzy mentions having tried to work with a kind of… “Battlizer” thing to share her transformed Mahou power with. Mom DID manage something similar to that on her own, granting uncle Acer a suited up boost with her own Magic. Maybe you can help that a bit. And if you go for something a bit more fitting…

And… an emerald aura starts to form around Pantea. While she doesn’t get a full costume change like Izzy, a couple little elements that mirror it appear on her. It’s… about as close to a proper “Battlizer” thing as you could expect.

You take a seat, feeling slightly drained. Huh. That’s odd. Maybe this takes a bit of your own energy to really get it to work properly too. And you HAVE kinda been brute-forcing your way through all this.

Izzy and Pantea sit as well, with Pantea feeling extremely giddy that you got that to work. Izzy meanwhile is satisfied she got so much out of this idea, and heck, you kinda are too. And… you finally realize it’s starting to turn to dusk, the sun’s already low in the sky.

>QM’S NOTE:

Just to make sure this is as clear as possible, what Gohan and Izzy have developed is a set of combo moves that require the two of them working in unison to make a Magical Power-up Song. The varieties so far include:

>Vital Boost
Refreshes reserves of energy and is most potent when paired with a transformation; a “starter” of sorts.

>Second Wind
Gives a degree of recovery to those that receive the effect, healing some damage taken and recovering some stamina.

>Boss Battle
Heightens the defenses and reactions against an imposing foe, allowing for easier defensive actions.

>Final Push
(Not yet ready.) An attack boost that works best to push one over the edge in certain clashes, like Beam Struggles.

>Battle Armor
Gives an ally a Mahou-like powerup, effectively a “Battlizer” armor flavored to match Izzy’s transformation. Higher DC to succeed than the rest, but lasts for as long as Izzy has her Mahou form out.

Lastly, the songs used are adaptable. They do not need to match the ones used here, and other suggestions for songs are allowed. Only criteria is to have a similar vibe to the effects these combos aim to achieve.

“Hey I’m caught up on the trailers. Chrono Break should be fine.” you reply, more trying to convince yourself of that than anything else.

“Yeah… well, still, thanks for coming over.”

“No prob. Okay, see you two later!” You head out to find Bulma, who’s with the other Capsule Corp. scientists as they get the MOGUERA units into crates. You give her a wave, and she waves back.

“Hey Gohan. You and Pantea feeling any better?”

“Loads better. How’re those guys doing?”

“Pretty much ready to go.” she responds, smiling as she nods at them. “Izzy’s ideas might take a bit to get done, but what you want to use ‘em for? Should be all set.”

“Nice! Here’s hoping that can get done quick.” Tommy’s gonna appreciate that. “So, any things I need to help with?”

“Honestly, you even bringing these in is a pretty decent boon…” She thinks for a moment, then gets a checkbook out, writing something down on it. “Here, don’t spend it all in one place.”

Oh sweet! A check for …60,000 ZENNI!? “WH-! F-for real?”

“That’s for bringing ‘em in. I need to check how much actual environmental cleanup tends to pay for.” she tells you with a wink. “Take care, Gohan.”

“SWEET! Thanks!” You stuff the check away and take off back home. Along the way, you do some high-speed dodging, letting the music you tried earlier play out in your head as you imagine fighting a couple foes. One that comes to mind is Pikkon, he was tough, and you just know he’s gonna keep trying to get tougher in the… hundred or so years it’ll be between now and the next time you’ll probably see him. Heh, Afterlife Champion, Son Gohan. Guess you, Peppa, and Izzy all have Champion titles now, along with Keli and Pantea.

The other foe that comes to mind is the other Majin Buu, the chaotic one you faced while freeing Grand Supreme Kai and South Supreme Kai. Wonder what happened to ‘em? King Yemma did confirm his passing and soul scrubbing… might it have already reincarnated?

Eh, things to think on for later. You touch down near your house, dad letting Groucho leap at ‘em to practice dodging. “Hey Gohan!” he greets, easily avoiding the tiger’s next leap. Once Groucho hits the ground though, he heads over to you and affectionately leaps to you, licking your face. “Heh heh, guess the big guy missed ya.”

“I wasn’t gone that long! Eesh.” you tell the sabertooth with a laugh. “Okay, maybe a bit longer than I intended, but it was for a good cause.”

Goku ruffles your hair and leads you back inside. This was a good day.

There’s a nice picture of every team that participated in the Dream Land competition, each pair with their own piece, along with some thank-you pieces you sent to those that helped with security and just generally keeping folks safe. …Along with one of you and Cocoa in the tunnel of love, of course. Ahh, you’re so glad this went over well. Even if there were some things that attempted to complicate it all, others were able to handle the it. Still some lingering questions, but none that are really that pressing a concern.

Additionally it looks like Ikose and Idassa are rather happy with how it all went down too. You’ve gotten some messages from them thanking you for inviting them. Also a few other messages. Some from the Alliance club at school, a few questions for you that are pretty easy to answer. Some from fans, with questions about martial arts and how to get started. And some from your friends, just chatting with ya as you take a nice day to relax.

You also trained a bit with dad earlier. You wanted to test how well you were holding up using as much power as possible without transforming. So far, things have worked out well. You’re able to keep it up about as well as before, but it’s probably gonna take a bit more work to really go beyond where you are now. Dad meanwhile has been keeping up training his power and skills, and looks like he’s gotten some good results… and it looks like he’s finally managed to get the Limit Breaker working for him, too, as he pulls it out against you for a very brief moment.

Still, it was a productive sparring match. He points out that even if you do manage to draw out all your power in your base state, your cap is only going to keep getting higher if you keep up your proper training. You’ll need to be able to have your body ready to take that kind of draw. Which… hrm. Maybe you can focus on that, another time. Might help in power draw, keep you fighting at your prime for longer.

Additionally, you were able to get in touch with Sala, Hado, and Jaki again. Looks like they’re over in… the Kress Kingdom? Interesting. They’re off doing their own little thing, apparently meeting with the royalty there for something. Sala apparently wanted to visit West City today, but had to take a rain check on it because this seemed to be more pressing a concern. There was… apparently a misunderstanding initially when Jaki sensed a powerful demonic presence… only for it to be Prince Beelzebub casually strolling in with a bag of chips, asking Misa if game night was still on. He does end up inquiring a bit about the interactions you and your allies have had with demons, and you spend some time explaining to him. He… does make a curious note about “this time” still having surprises in store but refuses to elaborate on what exactly he means.

In any case, Gohan’s home now, and you’re all done with your projects. He fills you in on some of the things he and Pantea, and eventually Izzy, were up to.

Not even being sarcastic, it's rare when y'all step on a social landmine, so it'll be interesting to see if Peppa triggers Nam flashbacks in Gohan. I mean, sure, it's a cruel way to spawn an opportunity for y'all to roleplay, but I look forward to seeing how you'll handle it in-character.

Like, it seems to me that whenever the trio interact, it's to relay what their plans are to each other. I don't think there's been one social call where you just hang out with your sibling for a day, and get a chance to view them how Kato sees us playing. Though, I don't think Maple hung out with Acer much neither.

Gohan saw Baby beaten twice and never once showed any kind of fear towards him. Gohan was conscious for about a year since his death and spent most of it doing fun afterlife stuff. Peppa was probably more traumatized by the incident than he was. It wouldn't make sense for him to be disturbed by it, especially when he knows Baby's dead for good.

Calling it "bullying your brother" or a "social landmine" doesn't make sense within the context of the characters or prior events.

And the three have had a number of moments where all three are together, last time was before the Mifan tournament. Maple and Acer likewise have interacted plenty. I would be fine with the trio having some time together, but we don't need to exaggerate the how and why.

“Ooh, you wanna help out too? Okay, great! Hmm… Pantea and I are still unsure about voice acting, but maybe if we can get someone to help with that too…” He sits down on the couch, tapping his chin in thought.

“I mean, I’ve got a tiny bit of acting lessons thanks to Cocoa. Some voice training too.” you point out. “For example… I can pull off THIS sinister voice, pompous and arrogant, with delusions of grandeur!” you tell him in the Baby voice you’ve been able to pull off before. He throws a couch pillow at you.

“Dork.” your brother says as he sticks out his tongue. “But I’ll think about it.”

“Oh, by the way, Buu’s been looking through some medical textbooks mom’s handed him since you left. He’s actually been getting through them pretty well.” you point out. “I’m surprised with how much he can get out of them.”

He looks over at Buu, the Majin looking over one, laying on his stomach as he happily kicks his legs. Around him are several more, basically all the ones mom’s collected. Your brother smiles softly. “Good to hear. Studying up, lil’ guy?”

“Buu gonna be able to heal the best!” the little pink Majin proclaims, grinning wide.

Things ease into the night. Dinner, you and Gohan playing some games together as Buu watches, and you hear dad and mom planning a little trip together, a couple planets the two want to visit, unique techniques they want to learn more about. Just been a nice, relaxing day.

As you get yourself comfortable in your bed, you doze off and start to rest… though you also get an odd feeling. Like… there’s something outside that shouldn’t be. You don’t quite actually SENSE anyone out there. But something just… off.

You activate Stealth Mode and stand up anyway. And you can sense that Gohan’s already jumped out of bed, heading to the kitchen to make it seem like he’s getting water. ‘Might be nothing, might not be.’ your brother says. ‘What’ll you do, sis?’

‘Prepare appropriately.’

Okay, if it’s Fu, prepare some Vicious Mockery to use against ‘em. If not, be ready to knock ‘em down if they’re a threat, or shoo ‘em off it they aren’t. You float out your window quietly and touch down on the ground, looking around. There’s… no one here? Wait, no, there is. They’re just hiding their Ki very well. Dad’s gotten outside too, with mom heading out ahead of the both of you. Gohan’s the last out of the house. Now all of you are keeping your eyes open, trying to sense out even the slightest hint of-

…Wait. WAIT. Oh you know what this is. You hide yourself carefully and start searching the treetops towards the forest. And there you catch the briefest glimpse of a figure up there. Ninja. But they’ve noticed mom too, and…

They drop down near her, kneeling. “Maple Son-Mahogany.” a lady’s voice addresses. “I am sorry to disturb your family at this time.”

Gohan seems to recognize that voice. “Ume?”

She acknowledges him with a nod. “Lady Yurin was given premonition of trouble stirring. We have been sent to investigate what it is.”

“What kind of premonition?” mom asks the ninja lady, motioning for her to stand up.

“Premonition of disappearances.”

…Huh? You and dad finally close in. “What kind of disappearances?” you finally ask directly.

“You and several others vanish. We do not know the mechanism of how, we do not know why, but… we have suspicions.”

“Suspicions like… Towa?” mom speculates. “Seems like the type of thing she’d pull.”

Dad’s turn to ask a question. “Why do that now though? She’s had a lot of opportunities for something like that before.”

“Effectively, yes. I only meant to act if I noticed anything myself.” she confirms. “And while it isn’t clear who all would disappear, we have a few others of the clan near the Ox King’s castle, Mifan, Orange Star City, Jingle Village, West City, and even Penguin Village. Those targeted are notable protectors of Earth. At the very least, we know Izumi, Acer, Chi-Chi, Lapis, Lazuli, Krillin, Chuu Lee, Videl, Pantea, Yamcha, Tien, Raditz, and the four of you were noted as missing.”

“Hmm… yeah that does kinda track with a Towa plot… but dad’s right, why NOW of all times? …Could it be related to the Promised Day?” you ask next.

“Get most of us out of the way for a while so Towa can pull off some big scheme? That sounds like the best bet.” Gohan agrees.

“We gotta start acting fast then. Hey, Jaki pulled off a trick of his when one of the Cell Sentai attempted to bother us during the Dream Land competition, that might be what Towa’s got planned.” you point out.

“Hmm… maybe…” mom thinks aloud. She then gets… oddly quiet and serious, grabbing a Scouter out and tapping it a couple times. “19? Okay, good, you’re still in one piece. Head over to the Kress Kingdom, drag 16 along if you can, we’ve got an incident brewing.” She addresses you all next. “Everyone, get ready, we might need to meet with those three soon. I’ve sounded the alarm to all who need to hear it.” Maple then looks to dad. “Goku, we might need to split into at least two large groups so she can’t get all of us at once. Can you and Gohan get Krillin’s family together as the second group?”

Dad gives her a thumb’s up. “Sure thing. Come on son!”

The pair of them take off… and you still notice mom looks exceptionally serious. Worried, almost. “…Is it that bad?”

“It just might be. I’ve been considering it for a while now. Why Towa’s been so lax with us lately. She’s popped up from time to time to cause trouble, but almost never directly interacting with… well, anyone. It’s odd, she’s the type to gloat, even if just to make herself feel like she’s in control. But ever since she recovered Dabura…” Maple shakes her head. “Ume, care to join us?”

“Where we going?” you ask.

“To the Kress Kingdom as well. We need answers. Might even need to split the groups some more. Come on.” She places her fingers to her forehead, telepathically telling you, ‘Keep locked onto Gohan and Goku’s Ki after we arrive. And anyone else who might be at risk.’

You teleport in with mom and Ume, arriving near Sala, Hado, and Jaki, in the courtyard of the Kress Castle. Nearby, Princess Misa and Beelzebub, the pair looking to you all with concern. There are a few more making their way here, while some others are gathering near dad and Gohan. Krillin’s family have all ended up at Monster Island, and you sense even Master Roshi making his way over there. Tien, Launch, Keli, Vegeta, and Lao are gathering together and looks like they’ll arrive soon, while Shao’s opted to stay in Mifan with Baozi. Raditz is on his way here next, and looks like Daikon is staying up in Jingle Village with Suno. Pantea and Yamcha meanwhile are bolting your way. Videl’s also on her way, and seems like she’s carrying her dad with.

You keep your focus on Gohan and dad, like mom asked, but also send out some quick messages to Cocoa and Lime. Need to make sure they’re okay too. Okay. What else? You keep up stealth mode and let everyone talk for a moment, waiting for the chance to send a copy of yourself out for scouting. No sense attracting a lot of attention just yet.

“So let’s make sure we’re all on the same page here. Ume, Yurin had premonitions of various people disappearing, right?”

She nods. “Correct.”

“How’d she determine this?” Beelzebub asks.

“Ever since the dead began walking the Earth, certain parts of the forest have been receptive to forms of foresight. Lady Yurin had us all practicing forms of it, having us all hone our skills, to better take advantage of this. She herself had made great progress… and the premonition she had received was both vivid and concerning. Many of Earth’s heroes, vanishing without a trace.”

Jaki crosses his arms. “So you believe I have some connection to this?”

“In that she might have been inspired by how handily you were able to dispose of Neuros.” Maple clarifies. “Which means we might need your help.”

“Heh, then you’ve got the right guy. Jaki knows all about those kinds’a Magics.” Sala states proudly.

You get notifications back from Lime first, then Cocoa. They’re fine. Okay. Thank goodness. Looks like you actually woke Cocoa up, but Lime was still awake. You quickly apologize to your girlfriend, then add an abridged explanation of what’s going on to both of them.

Cocoa just sends you one message in response. ‘Stay safe.’

You will. For her sake. Still… “How do we know we aren’t all wandering into a trap?” you question, keeping your senses sharp.

“...The most I can say is that if this were a trap, Towa would have sprung it already. The moment any of you would have been aware of this, she’d have pulled it off. Though…” Beelzebub rubs the side of his head. “I don’t know, maybe she has only a couple targets in mind, and doesn’t care who gets caught in the crossfire?”

“BB…” Princess Misa places her hand on his shoulder.

A few more people arrive. Videl and Hercule. Vegeta, Launch, Tien, and the Crane School. Raditz, then Yamcha and Pantea. Gohan and dad are staying with Krillin’s family, though Chuu Lee notifies you all that she’s ready to teleport them away at a moment’s notice. 19 shows up here, and informs you all that 16 went to Monster Island. And... finally Acer, Chi-chi, and Izzy arrive. Everyone who needs to be here is here. While folks were arriving, you took that chance to send out a copy of yourself, not putting a lot of your energy into her, just hoping to use her as a scout.

“Ey, good to see ya again, Knickers.” Sala welcomes Pantea.

“Again with that nickname…” she mumbles under her breath. “Well, you’re all caught up to speed, right?”

Videl nods. “Dad got a few of his students up to keep watch over at Satan Castle.”

“Don’t worry, let them know to not engage, just report any suspicious folks lurkin’ around.” Hercule reassures.

“What’s next?” Acer questions.

As if in response, there’s a surge of power nearby, and your scout moves to investigate. A lot of strong energy sources. Energy you recognize… with one Ki signature headed your way. She lands in front of you all, looking… uncharacteristically melancholy. She glances at Beelzebub first, almost apologetically, then looks over you all. Basilea stops to look at you and Videl for a moment, and finally addresses the crowd. “Towa has requested parley.”

Everyone is silent, slightly stunned by the statement. Your uncle is the one to break the pause. “She wants to what?”

“Parley. You can sense where she is. She is waiting.” Basilea clarifies.

“Okay hold the hell up!” Izzy exclaims loudly. “You don’t SERIOUSLY expect us to go along with this, right?”

“She’s right.” Vegeta grunts. “Why would you expect any of us to believe that witch is acting in good faith?”

“I don’t. I…” Basilea hangs her head. “I don’t know if I can trust her myself.” she admits, almost bitterly. “All I can say is that she wants a proper parley, and promises no tricks during it.”

“During.” Acer repeats. “And after?”

“Not my place to say.” The demon girl then looks straight at Beelzebub. “But I expect this to involve the fate of the Demon Realm.” Basilea finally takes off before anyone else can get a word out.

“...You were asking if this was a trap earlier, Peppa.” Ume brings up. “And I’d say that’s the biggest warning sign of all.”

“Ridiculous!” Vegeta yells out. “We might as well march over there waving a flag of surrender.”

“Or we could call her bluff.” Tien states. He gives you a brief glance, then continues, “A few of us can go and keep the others informed and ready to act if she does pull a trap.”

“Gonna need someone who can teleport then…” Acer notes. “If she is gonna try to make some of us disappear, it’s best we’ve got some escape routes.”

“A fair point.” Jaki agrees. “But some might still be caught in that. And while I can pull some back from it, I can’t be everywhere at once.”

Checking up on Gohan, he lets you know mom’s kept him and everyone else informed. Chuu Lee isn’t making any moves until she hears mom tell her to.

You also notice Keli keep quiet, looking over at Beelzebub to gauge his response. You gather that he took Basilea’s last statement as warning, a threat, even. He looks… angry. “My father’s over there too.” Beelzebub points out. “I at the very least need to go over there. Get some answers.”

“BB, wait!” Misa calls to him, but he leaps up and rockets off, not caring to see who follows him.

“I shall shadow him.” 19 informs you all. “They are paying attention to energy signatures. I lack one they expect to detect. I will stay out of danger, I promise.” That last part seems to be directed at Chiaotzu, but it does kinda apply to most everyone.

While that’s all going down, you’ve been able to get an idea on some of the Ki signatures that’ve arrived thanks to your scout. Towa, Mira, and Dabura for sure. There are a couple demons that feel like Spike but with energy far above his, a horde of weaker ones that don’t seem too important, but a few that seem unusually powerful. An unmistakable one is Majin Ozotto, yet there’s another that you don’t recognize. This is... worrying...

‘Momma bird, gonna make it seem like I’ve arrived with Beelzebub. Multi-Form’d a copy to scout out what’s going on over there. Over.’ you let her know, this time through your goggles, not actually doing it until she gives you the go-ahead. Your scout is over there, but you yourself aren’t gonna go anywhere. Not yet.

There’s a longer pause than you’d like as she looks to you. ‘...Okay, Ghost Pepper. Keep us informed. Over.’ she responds with her Scouter.

Well, here it goes. Beelzebub flies over and lands with a stomp, and you start to approach by foot, making it seem like the two of you were arriving together. He glances at you in confusion for a moment. “That was quick.”

You tap your forehead with your fingers. “Quick as instant.”

“Ahh. Yes. Right.” He simply nods and turns his focus to Towa, and you do as well.

There she is, sitting down at an elaborate yet unsettling-looking table, seated comfortably as she sips some tea. Dabura meanwhile stands beside her, arms crossed, a smirk on his face. There’s a seat ready for him as well, but he chooses to stand and acknowledge you and Beelzebub as you both walk forward. Mira flanks Towa, his gaze harsh and focused. You can tell he’s the most alert of them all, and not even trying to hide his Ki, as he gives off a noticeable aura of strength. Basilea stands some distance away, looking… almost sad as the two of you walk forward. Majin Ozotto is one of the largest figures among the crowd of Demons, yet beside him is an unusual figure. A younger-looking demon with tall, white, spiky hair, almost looking like a teenager, who possesses a large, curved scythe.

“TOWA!” Beelzebub yells out. “FATHER! THE TWO OF YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS!”

Dabura slowly nods his head. “Very well, son. But first…” Another person teleports in. Keli. She does a double-take when she sees you’re here already, but catches on quick. “Hmm. Not her like you were expecting, sister.”

Towa places the tea she was drinking down and gives a heavy-lidded, very, very clearly annoyed glance at you. “Speaking through a proxy is unbecoming of her. But as this is parley, I can accept this, and am willing to get things started.” She motions all of you to come forward, and Beelzebub can barely keep himself from angrily marching to the table. Your scout and Keli take things more cautiously, but follow after.

“Fine, I’ll play along. Why are you calling this ‘parley’ in the first place? After all this time?” he growls out.

“Because we are ready.” Towa states plainly. “Ready for my dear brother, your father, to take back his rightful place. And you are going to hand it over, one way or another.”

His fist hits the table… and you notice it’s barely even dented, in spite of the force of impact. It barely even shakes Towa’s cup. “So you’re really going to go through with this? Wage a war in the Demon Realm?”

“My son,” Dabura addresses, “I seek to reunify it. And what’s more, we seek to revitalize it. Ever since that vile wizard’s scheme, ever since my failure, it has stagnated. You have done well to keep it together, but you must know that discontent grows even among your ranks.”

He glares at them, but you finally speak up. “Okay. And what about us? This parley includes us as well, doesn’t it?”

Towa takes a sip from her tea again. “That’s a much simpler thing. You see… we propose a truce.”

…She what. They what? You do a double-take. Keli finally raises her voice. “You… don’t expect any of us to believe you, right?”

“No, but we will be blunt about this: this truce is conditional.” Dabura answers. “Towa has explained much of what she has done to you all to me, and I can not blame you for disbelieving this gesture. But you have my word as the King of the Demon Realm that this is genuine, if conditional.”

You relay all of this to mom. It’s gonna take a bit before you get any responses, but… you feel like you need to point out something. “Dabura, I can’t speak for everyone on this, but I myself am willing to take your word on this. However, Towa? Towa is another matter. It’d be absurd to believe anything she’s up to won’t be broken the moment it’s convenient.”

Towa gives an annoyed frown. She can’t exactly deny that, but still, it does get her to rest her chin on her knuckles and grumble with a heavy-lidded stare, “An expected response.”

You ignore that. You’re not gonna insult her right now, but you need to be honest here. “All of our history with her, it extends beyond even my time. My mom and uncle were younger than I am now when she first met Towa and it’s just… been a whole lot, you know? That’s just assuming only one of her is involved in this deal, too.”

Basilea gives Towa a disapproving look. Dabura though nods in acknowledgement. “Yes, I’m aware of my sister’s counterpart, and the counterpart of myself. Also that they were able to free me from Babidi’s control, and my granddaughter here originates from that time.” Now Basilea looks away from them. Dabura’s attention is on Beelzebub. “My boy, you’ve already started on her, haven’t you?” The smaller demon takes a step back, unnerved slightly, but stays quiet. “Mmm, yes, I figured as much. You and the human princess you are fond of. Hahaha, it looks like I will be a grandfather after all.”

There’s an almost faux-jovial tone in how he speaks. Like there’s both genuine admiration… and veiled threats being made. At least this is giving them time for a response. A debate’s started back with everyone, some willing to hear them out, some that outright do not trust them. You’re gonna give them more time. “So you know how hard this is for everyone to just… agree to it, right?”

“Yes. And this is why I am being upfront of it being conditional.” Dabura acknowledges. “I can reassure you that we will not demand you surrender this planet to us or anything of the sort, at the very least.”

You pass that along. It does kinda get most of them to go over to hearing them out. Still… “If it’s asking for allies back, we might have conditions of our own. Explanations. Schemes. Yes, even your notes, Towa.”

That… doesn’t get the reaction you were expecting. In fact, it kinda bores her, as she responds in a dry tone, looking down at her tea. “Speaking for yourself still?” she questions.

Finally, finally you can stop stalling. Mom gives you the OK. “Fine. Let’s hear the conditions.”

“As you assumed, we request certain allies back. Specifically, Churai and Artificial Human Number 21.” Towa says as she looks at you directly. “Furthermore… oh how does that go again? Ah yes. An ‘equivalent exchange’ of sorts. It is very simple, really. We will uphold our truce, and leave your world and others like it alone… in exchange for non-interference in the Demon Realm.”

Keli gives her a sharp look. “Wait, clarify something for me. You don’t want any of us interfering with this civil war you have planned. Is that right?”

“It’s a fair agreement, is it not?” Towa retorts. “It is not as if it would change the outcome significantly. The little prince here has waning support, and having to rely on mortals like yourself to face a proper crisis would only cause it to flounder further. Still, this assurance is conditional for the truce.”

“You can’t expect all of us to agree to this!” Keli blurts out.

“Oh?” Dabura addresses her with mild curiosity. “So there are some who would?” She glares at him, not exactly sure how to answer that. “This is still parley, and we are willing to hear your conditions. You requested answers.”

Okay, here’s your shot. “What I want to know is what you plan to do should you actually ‘reunite’ the Demon Realm under your control. Am I to expect demonic peace and harmony, black rainbows and poison candies? As opposed to… war with other realms, or planets, or timelines, or… whatever it is you’ve got your sights set on going forward? An agreement of non-interference can only go so far.”

Towa sits back, frowning at you again. “And let me guess, you would prefer to jump at the chance to stop us and protect the innocents and other such heroic nonsense. Such a bore.”
