You are Sidridijika [The Harbringer of Miracles] the white Magus, a crystal dragon. A young one, hatched in the early spring eleven months ago. Not a wyrmling anymore, but still far from adulthood.
Your defining features are your Arcanic affinity; the legacy of your draconic ancestor, your Presence; inherent to your crystaline blood, Your Flight mastery, the way you broke out of your egg, and your Breath, light element multi shaped tool.
Last, but not least, your Strategy prowess, developped since you are an hatchling thanks to a cabinet filled with miniatures of soldiers from all the world's armies and a book detailling their forces and weaknesse; gifted reluctantly by your Mother.
You started a conflicting relationship with your litter. However, circumstances made you closer as you had to team up to survive the dreaded dragon hunters, which killed Father. Now you only have your prized crystal necklace as a memento: an extraplanar space you can fill with your own things, allies, or even unwilling enemies after an arcanic push.
What about Mother? Well, some recent third eye vision might explain her behavior as natural and normal Draconic hatching mindwarp, and you decided to go look for her. More on that later.
Now you have bounded as a pack with Little green, the hard headed and tough fighter emerald dragon, Little Purple, the cunning and tinkering Amethyst dragon and Little blue, your favorite, alchemy-gifted, fighting-deficient, mind-reader favorite sister.
You luckily found really fast a location suitable for a lair worthy of your Pandraconium : a fallen dwarven hold, invaded with skavens, home of a Griffin and her cubs, which now have left the nest.
You drive out most of the skavens, with the help of chaos warrior you tricked to fight for you until their death, then become friend with the monster of the third floor.
You recruited nearby humans to serve as canon fodder against the rat tide coming right for your lair. The humans were lead by a young noble, Hector, that tamed one of the griffin cub, Vaillant.
Hector proceed to tie a deep relation with you, becoming your guardian. You bailed him out several time, until he saved your life by defeating countless undead while you were out after a demon hunt.
He proceeded to transform into a worthy, then unstoppable fighter, thanks to the power brought by your link on one hand, and the runic relic he found on the other, leading two squads of battle-proven Errant Knights.
And he have not checked on you since way too long. Ungrateful kid. Well, he's got his big thing coming, leave him be.
You then acquired your first inhabitant, an human girl named Agathe you healed from a condition crippling her mental abilities, and since then she's been delightful to have around.

You met some highborn elves and a dragon faithful to their cause, which lead to a name-giving ceremony for the four or you.
Your siblings have been named Verthicha (The Mountain), Throdenslemoni (Of Many shapes), and Wanotreyxkaiv (The Princess)
You also recruited a master Runesmith, Borri Ironbrow (currently on the verge of full mental collapse due to the loss of a rediscovered technology), and one thing leading to an other, Urist Fonderferson the steel smith and Thurmoum, the Orichalcum smith. You also have stolen the whole dwarven orichalcum reserve and kidnapped their king, corrupted by chaos. Strangely, the bearded Axe-crazy people doesn't seem to take goodly your benevolence.
After a few battles, you succesfully routed skaven, dwarven and undead forces several times. Your sibling acquired their own guardians :
Kvar the dwarven child, Verthicha's Mountainborn'
Chadlin the snotlin, Verthicha's bedrock's steadiness'
Edwyrd the dexterous highborn elf, Throdenslemoni's Infiltrator
Gwendolyne the Empire Noble, Wanotreyxkaiv's Gracious Ruler
Regarding battles, things settled down for winter. However, days are getting longer again, snow is melting, and thread of fates warned you of three battles - of skaven and undead, that you manipulate to meet before attacking - and of dwarves, coming in a bit more than a week.
You are slowly tuning your lair to your taste and need, with the crafting of the Three-Moon Astrolabus, the Orichalcum Scepter, and the Glass Pannel flooring, respectively enhancing your Divination, Light Magics and Breath attacks.
You feel a great need for hoarding valuables. You have far from enough of them, the missing gold somewhat offsetted by your growing population.
You also are attempting to turn your home in a mystical place of importance related to the dragon Priest project, using your Miracle ability to birth a spring at hiking distance.
Speaking of the dragon Priesthood project, you found in your latest trip (that got completely derailed and failed its purpose) a suitable dwarf kid, and a couple lizardmen aligned to your elements.
They are becoming the basis of your clergy. But more importantly, you turned deer, deer Agathe into Dragon Priest, giving her the Gift of the White Hierophant.

Something concerning happened, a team lead by dragon slayers invaded by the tunnels. You hate to admit it, but Verthicha dealt with it like a champ. The only remains are two prisoners for the goblin pit - an equitanian peasant and a tree-hugger elf with slivers of magics.

Right now, you examinate the wood elf scepter.
It is made of Yew wood, carved with greater care. You're pretty sure it have been woodsung - explaining how it encased barely discernable golden gem mounted on it.
You open your inner eye, and gaze. You know that magic. Close to your own. That crystal certainly grew by the sole presence of your Father.
You're not sure how to feel about that. You knew it was linked to your sire - but were you hoping, or dreading finding a piece of his unburied, scattered to the fourth winds body?
You decide to...
>Break the scepter. Collect the crystal. Place it in a special part of your hoard, hoping to build a memorial in the future.
>Acquire the scepter. Place it in your lair - that way your Father can provide assistance across time and space?.
>Gift the scepter. Agathe will be more suited as a wielder than whatever-her-name the elf.

That matter settled, you decide to...
>Go on an adventure for treasure. You, Agathe, the world.
>Travel toward the elves to require help for the forecoming assault
>Travel toward the dwarves to require help for the forecoming assault

It's a busy day.
You try to explain the fundamentals of Light arcana to your pupils.
>Valric : 8
The kid lose focus quite fast. He's trying, but he's not very bright.
>Sennri : 12
The nun follows longer, but you can feel she's overwhelmed.
>Kreenio : braincell fail
The skink is happy to be with people. He express it by reeeeeeing really hard and trying to mimick some movements he's seen somewhere. He's not even attempting to use his power to create sparkles to enhance his skink-fu mock-fighting.
>Agathe : 18
Something surprising happens : despite already trying earlier in the year - and showing no inclination - Light magic have came to your second guardian in an upside down waterfall of sparkles.
"Something's bright... Agathe is that your doing?
- I.. Think so....
- Congrats! Once I'm back I'll show you Boniface's technique and the other tricks I picked.
- When are you coming back? Ungrateful one! I miss you!
- You didn't managed to conceal your real thoughts, dragon. I almost made it to the capital for the End of Errance ceremony. I'll request the lands of Griffinmount in the name of King Henri. Then, I'll ride back. In theory, alone. Practically, a few landless newly anointed knights might stick around."
Nothing particulary interesting happened to Hector for a good two weeks. Renée, Claire and Evette still seems interested, but the conflict evolved in some cold war with dirty set up to prevent any alone time of the ladies with their target - which is still oblivious to everything. The end of world wouldn't be looming, You'd fine this as apex of entertainment. You take a mental note to ask Guillot to turn it into a song or a tale-story.

>1 anon roll 1d20 for how Fortification work have been going (DC : 13 thanks to tomb king pedantically lording over Chadlin)

Once calm comes back, you decide to hang the scepter somewhere in your lair.
This scepter...
>Is a weapon. Use it as an inspiration to let your enemy know how deep the dragon's wrath burn.
>Is a piece of art, despite all. Use it as an inspiration to surpass the humanoid's handy work
>Is a symbol of power. Use it to lord over lesser beings - that is, frankly, almost any one you ever met.

You are full of anger and rage. But instead of turning into a new spell, or an intimidating leader aura, you want to channel this into creation - what better retribution for death and destruction than creation?

Lair bonus : Gold-Crystal Yew wood woodsong scepter : Woodcraft and Woodsing DC reduced by (Bo3 d4 - 1)

You take a breath outside. Chadlin is getting ordered around by Anemom - valuable input but the snotling is starting to get a handle on things.
There is a lot to do, and Chadlin managed to order the snotlings to dig the earth and move things around.
No way to convince the greenskin higher in the pecking order to help and become a booger's subaltern. But you can feel Chadlin is on the verge of a growth spurt. Good for him, you couldn't care less.
" That's not true, Dracosir high and mighty. stop pretending. "
Hector is right, as hard as it pains you. He'll be turning in a more valuable asset.

You have a little bit of time before nightfall
>You can feel Agathe is curled alone in a ball in her room - maybe go check on her?
>Smoke and explosion noises are coming out of Ame's shack - more than usual, that is.

She's in her little house, alone, curled. But why?
You lightly probe your guardian mind - inexperienced as she is, in a way she doesn't feel your intrusion. The brush turns into a light touch, a caress, allowing to assert the situation better. She's clutching at your gifted fang.
Now, you have to subtly entangle the mess of her emotions...

>Success
You feel in her some pride - chosen as guardian, succeeding at new magics - but those facts are drown in a sea of insecurities. She feels she have no self worth, no skills, just a burden.

>Crit success
Keeping your link, you engage conversation.
"Agathe? I'd like to talk with you."
You feel her worries, depression and neurosis vanish under your unfelt connection. You connect the dot immediately - As your tutelage made Hector even more reckless and socially oblivious Hector is a /fit/izen Chad that doesn't realize his own value, Agathe didn't got only benefits from becoming your guardian : you fear it increased her dependency to you Turning her in a magical-girl /r9k/ femanon

>I did not choose you for pity, or for gratitude for saving my life during the battle. I did it because I know that you are a capable and smart girl. I noticed it as soon as I healed you, and your natural affinity for magic and your actions have only strengthened that conclusion.
>You are one of my guardians Agathe, one of the only three that can be. And you are my dragon priestess, the first, and highest there can be. I wouldn't have chosen you as either if I wasn't certain that you are capable of great feats.

Congrats on keeping the agency on the player side.

The storm gets worst, and unnatural. You're a firefly in a sea of oily tendrils. Your innate nature dispel the tendrils just fine - thank you - but it messes up heavily with your innate orientation abilities. It also seems to cut your link with the loom of fate.
You struggle, try to trace back, can't recognize landmarks. The currents keep tossing you around once the little mana shielding you is depleted.
Your link with guardians also dwindle. You can barely sense their worry in an intermittent noisy line.
It's been two days. You take shelter under a rocky ledge and take time to ascertain the situation.
Unwanted guest will show up and you are not ready. You failed to find reinforcements, Hector's knight can't help you this time, and Verthicha's WAAAAGH! is more a wag? for now. If things continue that way, you'll even miss the battle itself.
Until a bright idea comes to you. You launch yourself in the storm, letting the currents carrying you. While the erratic movements throw you around, you focus on your link with Agathe, until you can feel her less bad than the past days. You launch all your mana for divination.
>Success
You find a convoluted path out of the storm. Turning your consciousness away, guided by the thread, you follow the link to safety for two other days. The storm raging around you fails to hold you back, and you exit it not too far from the human settlement. Behind you, the storm dissipates.
What now? You're still stuck deep in future sight - you will use that for your next actions.
>Crit success :
First, what about the exact day of the attacks? Tomorrow. The rats and the undead will meet, that have been ensured. However the exact circumstances are shrouded in the metaphorical equivalent of the storm that assault you. The only thing you can see is that the attacks are creating a Fate Node : This event will happen.
You look at the outcomes. They're... Not good to say the least.
You will have to choose a course of action.
>Fight teeth and nails the losing battle. Almost certain doom awaits - risks range from the death of some of your guardians to that of your siblings and yourself. In case of victory, you're keeping everything and you'll prove the world your home is unbreakable.
>Evacuate. Verthicha can locks himself underground with your least mobile companions, you can relocate some to the human village, and go on the road to gather troups for claiming your home back. This reduces the risks of life loss, but almost ensure you'll lose everything you will leave behind.

Feel free to argue among each other to try and influence votes.
For those who wants to evacuate, what to do with all the hold inhabitants? For those who want to fight, what is your battle plan?

Do you want to attempt miracle to try cutting losses?
>>
>>5614579
>What to do with all the hold inhabitants
We need to get them away from here. Probably get Vert's minions to dig tunnels out of the forest.
Them we can try to move towards some of our allies, or any place we know is empty to serve as a temporary base.
Maybe use the necklace as emergency instead.transport?

for those that want to fight. Dont forget there is gonna be a third army that will show up some time after these two Armys will have bled us. Running away and letting our enemies eat each other will be the most prudent choice.

>>5614585
>>5614610
we could try some IED'S if we use the Siege Weapon by sacrificing it. Make sure it is overloaded in the middle of the enemy army to sow confusion and maybe make them turn upon each other while still on route to our fortress.

and in the meantime we evacuate the fortress through the underground tunnels we know are there already.

maybe using the scam might help

>>5614579

The humans and halflings can probably take their resources and go to the village we take our militia from and just rest there for a while. The Waagh goes to rage and get more Gits while some of the less mobile people stay at the fortress underground to keep our way in clear.
>>
>>5614616
I also thoughtt of overloading the rat artillery and the infernal engine as a little "gift" for the conquering army, but then I remembered that the infernal dwarves somehow created the wasteland with their tech, and warpstone is be volatile and unpredictable.
So we could end up causing some kind of magic chaos pollution, making our life harder instead of easier.
>>
Actually, did Chad use his fortification power in the the fortress itself, or some pass nearby? If it's another place, we could draw the two armies there first and activate the booby trap, without corrupting our fortress.

well i agree for the Infernal engine. I would guess there is a Demon or several in there.

I was more thinking of flying over and overloading the powersource while throwing it at them while they are in the middle of rest. Even if the undead dont rest. The Skaven will have to at some point make camp.

You wish for a miracle, a Deus Ex Machina
>6,6,7 : Nothing happens (Kek)
The thread of fate still refuse to spin around to accomodate you as some kind of universe-rewritting big shot. The audacity.

Your only out is evacuation. Durr and Valric can go deep with the other dwarves, and so can the four skavens and the skeleton guy.
Humans and Halfling will fit just fine in the human village - just ask nicely.
The true question is what to do of a few fellows.
>Apples McGilden?
>The two saurians ?
>Agathe?

Regarding valuables, the lightning engine can be dismounted and hidden deep, and you can stockpile your cabinet, the engine, the scepters and the astrolabe. That will allow you to transport around at the maximum two persons - if you want to do so. Letting one item somewhere (your lair? Underground?) gives you one more people spot.

>Who do you take with you in your next adventures?

>Stash the Astrolabe deep underground. Its the easiest to replace if it gets destroyed or damaged.

>>

You know what, fuck it.
Leave the engine to blow up in their stupid faces. Give it to the rats to mess around with it, it should be a question of time until they turn it into a bomb.

Agathe should g to the human village. It's just a question of time until Hector return as the lord of this land, she should be over there managing things to prepare for the holy war of reconquest.
Then we can carry the Saurians and Apples with us.

You gather everyone to impart the news. You're a bit concerned about Valrik, but Urist and Borri promised to take good care of the bearded kid - and keeping their eyes on Durr the kleptomancer.

One thing bother you - Ame didn't came at the sound of the gathering Yell. You haven't seen him or heard of him since he get his greedy hands on the warpstone. You decide to investigate his shack while other are gathering their things.

He is nowhere to be found. Instead you find... Something else

>A Slime that gained Sentience and morality through magic, taking the bones of its creator to try and fit into society.

>"Ame?
- That was my name. I became someone else, something else. Ame always wanted to perform some grand deeds of alchemy, worthy of granting him immortality by remembrance. He did it. Call me Slime-ame. Slame."

The thing seems ironically a lot more social than his creator. He will fit just find your multicultuRagtag bunch of misfit - that is if people can go through the bones and skull stuff, it always seem to tense people around Anemom. Well, in the sandmaze he'll go.

You gather your thing, Agathe and the Saurians included, in your necklace before flying away. Your Sister is in charge of leading the humans and halflings to the village.
Agathe is delighted, Kreenio is enthusiast and Chotkho time off at the fighting pit seems to have cool him down.

"What about me?"
The cute little beastman is tugging at your wing.
"Sorry Apple. My necklace is full, you can't fit with the village, and if you go in the depth, pretty sure a goblin or a skaven will eat you. Your only option is going on your own."
The kid launch a heartbreaking glare reflecting the betrayal he just lived, and walks away, resigned.

With your preparation done, you take off. The realization of abandoning your home start weighting on your soul.
>Trait : Homeless - capped at 4 dice until the situation is sorted.

Fate locks, and let you spectate what you avoided.
Ratmen and dark forces indeed met. Ratmen, busy with infighting - are you seeing John Harden, one of your skavens, leading the forces and fighting with another one? There where 5 of them, and recently only four... How did you missed that?
Meanwhile, the Necromancers started a ritual. Something to do with amplifying pest and disease, while decreasing poison resistance. It's a massacre. Virtually the whole skaven army fells. Then rises under the necromancer orders.

Yeah, facing an army was already difficult. A double-sized army? No way you could have taken those odds. No wonder why so many futures where you stand your ground and fought were so grim.

Time to take decisions. What's the plan you agreed with your siblings?

>Temporary retreat. Everyone gather what troops he can, regroup, assault as soon as possible.
>Dispersion. Each one create a new, smaller lair. Gather a patrol. Assault with a big enough army.

Maybe Apples will return one day as a beastmen warlord seeking vengeance.
>>
>>5617940
Well using the engine to nuke the army would have been good if we had been where the Necromancera and Skaven met. That could have not only broken the spell but also take huge chunks out of their troops. I would not have used ut passively or for them to find

Hector slows down his horse from trot to walking. His group, and Mathias', imitates.
Vaillant is coiled as a housecat in the special part of the saddle Hector commissioned for him, in front of the knight. Far from resting, his yellow eyes keeps watching, pupils jumping from one point of interest to the next.
Guênac, the capital, is at the other side of this bridge.
The knights have peacefully crossed the kingdom, the valleys of Ciélac, already blooming with sprouts of the summer crop.
Ciélac, Hector thought, with frequent patrols from errant, confirmed knights without land, and the occasional Pegasus-mounted Gallants.
Ciélac, with its black and rich soil, cool and moist to touch.
Ciélac, irrigated by the Guêon river.
Ciélac, providing enough floor to feed all the kingdom - most of the settler of the eastern March are aiming for self-sustenance, but most relies on food brought by caravans.
Such a boring place to get some land. Essential to the empire, but a comfortable sinecure for Empire-taught pen pushers.

Hector breaks out of his daydreaming, and takes a minute to immerse himself in the magnificence of the capital draped in banners and pennants.
The city is crowded - Hector never saw that many humans at once. A boy tug his elder sister dress, they point fingers while making giddy noises. Maybe they never saw a Griffin that close?
Vaillant, happy from the attention, jumps from Hector's horse, lightly headbutt the girl, get scratched in the neck, then flies back to his throne, leaving a couple feathers behind, surely becoming the kid's greatest treasure.

It's that time of the year. Equitaine Equinox's End of Errance Effervescent Event.

Several animation have been set along the road. Including four fence pillar, linked by some string, delimiting a fighting ring, with rigid mattress softening the blows of falls.
A middle aged leather clad is toroughly beating up a young knight - Hector think it might be Karolius - until the dominated youngster yields.

"A knight well mounted and with comrade? Piece of cake. Nah, the real value of knights lies in what they can do alone, without armor nor weapons.
Is one of you brave enough to take on my challenge? Or are you too scared to face your individual lack of training?"

The man locks eyes with Hector.

>Accept the challenge - he's on!
>Send one of the knights first - power move!
>Hector has nothing to prove. Move on.

>>>>5612163

It's very good for my creativity. The writing flows, and the really different setting helps me a lot when I switch back to high-stake heroic fantasy, which might explain why the two/three last updates where of, in my opinion, higher quality.

So throw your QM a bone, come follow a ragtag crew of empowered humans, and create your own stupid powered hero, monster of the week, or conceptually-trash cyborg there. Haven't had that much fun in this board since my really heavy sessions of knightpostings.

QM bailed, so each anon that still sticked around and created a character decided to play the game anyway. Not familiar with skirmishes, but we kinda made a system on the fly (that is roughly similar to the one of this quest but d100, I think the anon that came with it is also one of RQM player) and we write update with the various characters situation, trying to tie other player in from time to time to create interaction. As the setting is One Punch Man, there is always room for more heroes or whatever, be it low-commitment passerby or for creating monster of the week type antagonist.
Once again, I'm having tons of fun. It please my kind of undiagnosed autism.

Hector dismount, and step in the ring. One look gives him all the information he needs. The opponent is skilled. And, over all, the opponent is right - Hector can't count the time he survived by the skin of his teeth by the extensive bare-hand fighting training beaten into him by his family.
Hector gets into fighting stance. The ring is surrounded by his fellow errants.

"Can you see the atmosphere? It feels like the time he duelled that girl knight of his.
- Yeah, I think we're going to witness something nice
- Kyaaaaaa Hectoooooooor! Do your best for meeeeeeeeeee"
Oh no, Evette is still around. Hector compartmentalize his thought to focus only on the relevant matter at hand.

>20 vs 20 :
Good for him. The man attacked when he sensed a twitch of reaction at the voices of the crowd.
Hector can't afford to let the grappler at close range - the one of knees, elbows and throws. Better keep him at middle range - a skilled grappler can catch a high kick and throw easily the striker, so long range is also a bad idea. The man rushes, Hector goes for a counter. It was anticipated, the man tries to grab the arm, to no avail as Hector is currently fighting using tenants of the school of whips - fast movements, brought back faster than sent. This style individual hits lack of power, but can overcome more easily a guard, opening for a smashing finisher.
The wave of punches following the counter are easily blocked by the man. However, he didn't seemed to anticipate the standing sweep. Instead of losing his balance, the veteran use the momentum to launch a hooked right-kicking sweep on his own, left knee and hand on the mat. Hector definitely felt the hit on his thigh, heel right on natural weak point in the middle of the external face. His retribution is an elbow to the knee.
The man springs back up, both of them having felt the hit in their legs.

>14,14 vs 8,8 : Hector is slowly but surely taking advantage
The sparring keeps going for a few minutes. The man's strategy is closing the distance to go wrestling. Hector takes a slow and methodic approach, crippling targeted hits to sap the fighting spirit of the man. The lashes of punches ascertains the resilience of the opponent, chipping away his stamina. Until the timing his right. Hector feints an oppening, the brawler close in for a throw, Hector uppercuts in the gut. The punch sends him in the air, a handful of centimeter above ground, enough to make the man hit the ground with a loud "THUD".
Hector learned his lesson quite early. He kneel on the man's throat while punching as hard as he can a couple centimerter away from his head, to make clear the victory is his and is total.

- I'm anointed. Even a Banneret. , Hector complains.
- I don't care, you still haven't finished errance. Now, go away"

Hector steps out of the ring, and get heavily cheered by his comrades. Wait a second, something's strange. Where are the girls?

Here they are. They went for food.
"We thought you might be hungry. We brought something! what do you prefer?
- Kyaaaaa Hectooooor I made this porridge myself with all my love!!!!!!!!"
Oatmeal looks both burnt and undercooked, resulting in a crime against Equitainian renowned food.

Hector freeze in what's feeling for days. One self-loathing part of him that deeply loves the effect he has on Evette whisper him to pick this option. But in truth, he'd love to get both the skewer and the soup. The simple onion soup would be a perfect flavour enhancer to the richer, more complex, but requiring more attention, boar skewer. But wouldn't that be greedy? The boar skewered with vegetable is a full course by itself - and what course!
Also, Hector is pretty sure the boar skew - Renée would be a bit mad at him if he picked both of them.

"Hector? You're all right?
- Sorry, ladies... This two options seems really good, for real, but I'd prefer the boar skewer. Sorry Claire, can't deal with two meals today, no matter how pocketable they are."
Hector bite in the tender meat, strongly favoured, under the gleefull gaze of an extactic Renée.

"Come on Hector, I'm sure you will totally be able to take a glass of pure, pristine water after that.
- What do you mean, Agathe?
- You seem genuinely innocent. That might be part of your charm, tough guy."
And just like that, she's out of his head again.

Hector wonders. His life will be way more simple if he goes for wedding a girl - that would mark him as a taken man, and should calm them down, right? However, wedding can only be an option if he finishes Errance, and he's not set on that point.

Keeping the errant status means more feat of arms, and easier climbing the ranks of nobility, at the cost of immediate political influence.
Choosing to stop errance here and then would let Hector become a Banneret, already honorable rank, granted by his past deeds. Castellan seems unlikely - Hector have not done any significant "Coup d'éclat" -- highly praised feats of arms like taking down a dragon, saving the life of the king, leading the liberation of a town -- for the kingdom. Unless Guillot manage to sing his praises good enough?

Hector and Sidridijika discussed the day before. Despite the dire situation, they'll need the whole leverage they can extract from Equitaine. The reconquest of Griffinmount can count as a Feat of Arms.

"I'll miss it a bit. Hector, you'll throw a feast for both solstice so we can still all meet from time to time, right?
- Not this year. Mathias. I feel my errance is not done yet."
This is met by global surprise. Upon individual discussion, Charles and Pauline want to settle and marry. Nicolas have been asked by Alexis de La Tour to help train a group of Heavy Infantry as an experiment to overcome phalanx with increased mobility and skill while still holding their ground in the middle of a battlefield.
Unsurprisingly, Guillot, Claire and Renée are ready to follow wherever Hector wants to go.
More surprisingly, Tyler and Raymond (only one from Matthias's squad ready to follow Hector one more year) seems enthusiast at the idea of more adventures.

All the errant knights, including Julius and Ulric packs, are there. Looks like the tempered steel soldiers held since last meeting, with no discernable loss.

There it is. The Knight Sanctum, surmounted by its dome of glass.
Knights splits, most of them riding through the open door, for official proclamation and anointment. Hector and his fellow will sits in the first rank of the mass, go through clercs later, register, partake in the feast for the first night, and ride toward more glory immediately after.

"You're keeping your errant mantle? Good. I want to fight with you."
The leather-armored, skilled fighter that silently approached Hector is Ryner. His prowess is known, as is his metalsmith proficiency - usefull for fixing a dent in an armor, or shoeing an horse.

Another one approaches.
"You keeping up the errance can only mean one thing. You found something big to slay. Sea serpent, Dragon, Chaos tainted Griffin, I don't care. I want the skull. So we can either go together for the time of the quest, or I'll track you. I'll follow you. I'll ambush you. I'll steal your kill, and I'll take what I want."
Hector knows that Carnelion's threat is not empty.

Hector is still the leader with Renee as his second in Command.
no heroic single person missions its a good way to get yourself killed

>Also, discuss what is Hector's squad next objective

More glory and honor. first however some easier targets so everyone can get familiar with the others fighting style before the bigger targets are tackled. wouldn't want to get yourself killed because you cant trust in the other errants that will stand next to you.

sorry i have got nothing more here..... spent the last night thinking about it.

>Discuss strategy of the squad
Assuming you mean "formation" like Bad Back Anon interpreted, I'll just support their decision.
(just going to add that, unless it causes any conflict or he's instructed otherwise, Ryner would naturally lean towards protecting the rear, so that he can quickly react to any threats coming from the back, but also keep an eye on everyone else, for better or worse)

>Also, discuss what is Hector's squad next objective
Head to the village where we fist got Hector and Agathe, to gather the ranged help we have there, but also to of course rest and prepare for the big battle to come.
However, take the long way to there, passing through any other villages on the way to get provisions and if possible more ranged help (who would be placed under the command of that person from the village that ended up being the best help, don't remember their name), and see if they need help with any monster problems or something (buying provisions is nice and all, but getting them as rewards is even better).

>Personal side objective for Hector
Get as many chances he can to see Julius fighting, to learn his style and any habits he may have, just in case he ends up having to fight him (normally I think Hector wouldn't be this wary regarding anyone, but luckily, Julius doesn't try too hard to hide the fact he's a maniac).

Let's avoid trumpetting your presence to inhabitants or minions of Schwartsmann. And he's not enough of a fool to let his castle unattended. You just chose to go west to hide in plain sight and grow a force big enough to get your home back. The "how" is still unclear though. But right now, your wings grow tired. You need shelter, and the saurians are more and more vocally wanting to get out of the necklace, to Agathe's greater sorrow.
You focus your third eye, and find a knot in the fate's tapestry. Something that greatly improve both your short-term and mid-term viability, but opening risks of corruption. Not from Father, but from Mother.

In the north-west of the cave, a real treasure trove awaits

in the north-west, an aventurer manikin is fitted with ornated boots, cloak with an intricate golden wire pattern, and a mass made of a bone with golden wings. The objects look elvish.

In the north-east, a desk with unreadable paper notes, long gone potions and a crystal cross amulet

In the south-west, another manikin. Human looking, he is donned with an armor made of humanoid bones, with a red sword in one hand and a crossbow in the other.

South-east, a statue of what looks like an emaciated human. His left hand holds a book, while his raised right hand got an orb and a ring on one finger.

So much magic almost overwhelms you.

Yeah, both seem extremely dangerous. But a silver-coated thread hangs in your peripheral vision.
The thread turns ash-dark, then back to normal. It is shroud in necromancy's veil, but it can result in the fastest way to get your home back. All you can deduce is that the idea is dangerous, and involve the treasures of this treasure trove.

All I can think of is that breaking the orb causes a bunch of skeletons to rampage, and the ring turns the user into a skeleton. Maybe they are relics that command undead, or turn into a lich?

maybe the Orb could be used to unleash an undead horde stored in a pocket dimension.

My thoughts are similar to the other two above me:
Breaking(?) the Orb summons skeleton army;
The Ring grants control over the army, but will either, drain life force, eventually killing the user, which would eventually turn them into a skeleton; or, just straight up turn the user into a skeleton (probably over time).

If worse comes to worst:
"Dracolich goes brrrrr"

>Enough Keywords to get a broader meaning of the items thanks to the crit
Based on the drawings, it give you leads to explore a bit with small arcanic nudges.
The orb does not contain a pocket dimension with a tremendous number of skeletons. Instead, it seems a powerful spell is bound to it. Once broken, it would raise deads in a certain radius, unknown to you.
Also, you don't know what would happen to dead already risen in the radius - you lack comprehension at black magics.
The ring, well, it seems to correlate with what you know of lichdom - a path to tremendous power, at the cost of your soul. Surprisingly, this seems like a form of Mother embrace, lacking the taint of chaos.

The notes are unreadable, and the potions long faded labels hold stale waste.
Flicking through the book, you find a mention to the cross...

The rest of the room is adventurer gear, suited to humans. The armor and red sword looks especially ominous, but the other gear should be safe to use.

In your necklace, the lizard grow reckless. Agathe too would love to take a stroll.
>>
>>5636130
So, yeah, the question is :
>Spend the night here?
>Let the lizards out?
Also, the book seems to hold great knowledge.

>To the hoard! you'll have to learn the script, but it might open a new path of magic to you
>Ackchually, better gift it to Gwen?
>Black magic is bad, m'kay? 'Cause it involves necromancy. And Necromancy is bad, m'kay? because it is a branch of black magics. Destroy it.

>Let the lizards out?
Put everything in a pile, let the lizard out away from it, then put the pile inside the necklace.
Otherwise they might break something.

>>
>>5636215

>Spend the night here?
Yes

>Let the lizards out?
Yes far away from the pile of treasure where they can not break anything and load up the Hoard. Have Agathe out as well. She deserves some time to practice some magic.

>Ackchually, better gift it to Gwen?

she should know how to deal with this and if it can be useful without corruption. Maybe destruction could be very bad in and of itself. What if some Demon is bound into its pages and we unwittingly release it.

However, since we don't know when we'll next meet her, there's no harm in at least trying to learn how to read it in the meantime, after all, even if we have no interest in trying to use necromancy and dark arts ourself, having knowledge of it can always be useful in the future.

The skink is certainly enthusiast. He's doing his best. He sucks at it, unable to articulate the words properly - does it speak at all? At least he seems to mutter syllabes other than is REEEEEE - or perform the difficult movements for the simplest of spells that comes to mind.

Wait a second... Hey, maybe you can...

Alright, so 1d4chan is down so I had to hunt down spawing elsewhere
Kreenio has the Chotec blessing, being related to the sun. Sun is associated with fire, but also light, which is our specialty
https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Chotec
So I'm thinking either calling down some sun beams, like Auriel's bow in skyrim, or getting some healing with a spell like Warmth from Dark Souls
>>
Oh, and maybe it's cast through some sort of ritual dance, because Kreenio is a priest and energetic?

Yeah, that would work. Calling the power of sun down in a ray of searing heat. You adapt the power word and the somatic components, attuning it to normal Kreenio behavior. The spell is bound to an enthusiast, impossibly fast paced dance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBor59jkFVU)
The final verbal component for launching the spell is a mighty "REEEEEE".

Let's see if he can pick it up...

Searing light, scorching, fall in the cave.
You, are surprisingly fine - Agathe ran, jumped and shielded both you and the surprise skink.

>Kreenio updated
Spells known - Kreenio's radiant dawn
Skills : Arcana - 1 dice

>Kroxigor brain fart (as if he could do anything else)
The bigger lizard, unable to understand what's good for him, met the light column head-on.

Good opportunity for you to study the spell's effect, you guess.

First, the spell require dance and incantations, almost half a minute long. It looks like a taxing one - Kreenio is dry-empty of his allegedly sparse reserve of mana.
The Kroxigor fell. He held for almost whole spell duration, but him staring stupidly in the metaphorical sun didn't helped much to withstand the mystical blow. When asserting the damages, you see nothing serious. It seems like the spell creates a sensory overload without much long term effect, which shut down the brain-computationnally challenged saurian.

"Way to go, Agathe! You're amazing with that shield spell."
The girl blushes, accept the compliment by feeling its sincerity through your link, and node.
It's true that even if you parted ways right now, her unique insight with draconic magic allowed by your link would make her a prized mage court to nobles of rank above Hector or Gwendoline.

"And, Kreenio, you did well too.
-REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
- REE indeed. You deserve it."
You handle the crossbow to the young lizard that grasps it with both hands. You can't read the joy on his reptilian face as easily as on an overly expressive mammal one, but you can still feel it by his whole body language. Still, you don't let it go for now.
"However, you'll have to be careful. This thing is precious, you have to handle it as such. If your behavior is not at his best, I'll take it back.
Moreover, this is a weapon, not a toy. Do not shoot if you have a chance to hit one of us."
Minor chance for that to happen, as no bolts are provided - and you're not sure you want to give some at a barely sentient lizard

Yeah, it's definitely useful to let him explore 3D motion. He hit himself on the head, he's unable to lift the weapon toward targets... Much to learn. At least, he seems happy.

You turn to share your thought with Agathe.
The girl is extatic, a huge grin on her face.
"My new shoes make me run this fast!"

"When did I start running a daycare?
- Don't act like you're an adult.

Hector thinks really hard of a thumb up, and close the mental link.

That hurted more than you expected.

Mix of "Multiculturalism" and "Segregation". Have everyone gather and interact once per day or every few days for 1 hour or so, if conflict start to show, bonk the parties involved and send everyone their way, and when not in the gathering, each stays in their own corner.

That's not true, and you know you made partial progress with them. Still, it was overall a frustrating week, where you committed and do your best to be greet with spits in the face.

Chotkho got aggressivity issues - exarcebated by the Friendly Fire of Kreenio, which he hold a small grudge against, preventing the small lizard to attempt again the spell out of fear. >"So then, how did you come here?"

>"A beast tricked me. I have been blessed by the Goddess with the strength and duty to hunt beasts, no matter their kin, and so it used exactly that to pull me here."

>"...But, wait, that would mean you're that legendary Hero!"

>"...I think some did call me that."

>"Wow!!!"

>>Talk of The Outside
>"Out there the world changes from night, to noon, to day, and then cycles the seasons, quite unlike here. As you walk the land, you come across towns and villages of beasts and men, and royal capitals where everlasting kings and queens reign. However, one thing not so different here or there is that, no matter how far you walk, you can never see the end."

>"Don't you think this is just a little too big?"

>"Oh, it just expands whenever it feels like doing so. And of course the books fill up to match the growth."

>"Then how do you plan to ever read all of this?"

>"I do what I can."

>"Recently I feel like I have forgotten something important."

>"Like what?"

>"Like the most horrible curse that has ever been cast on me."

>"Do you really need to remember that though?"

>"It is just an example."

>"Well, I think you'll figure it out sooner or later. And if not, well, I've once found a book here with everything I've ever done written in it."

>"Hey, is it true what they said here?"

>"Huh? Ah, yes."

>"So the gods loved people?"

>"Yeah."

>"And yet they would still eat anyone sacrificed to them?"

>"Yup."

>"And even when they have completely lost their sanity, they would still continue to serve the needs of their believers?"

>"Yeah. By that point we call them "evil gods". However, all of these only apply to gods with an actual, physical body. I don't think there are still that many of them around."

>"...Wow..."

>"It says here that you have to speak up if you're wishing for anything."

>"Well, because the gods can't grant your wish if they can't even hear what it is. Hey, do you hold any faith?"

>"Ah, nope. Why do you ask?"

>"It's nothing. It's just that I wanted to know, whether you have ever doubted the sanity of the gods."

>"I've heard that a long time ago, a powerful god committed suicide here."

>"Why?"

>"Because it was born into the form of a monster, and thus received no faith from any of the humans. Yet even then it did not want to morph into a true monster, for fear of hurting them. However, since it died without ever becoming a god, its soul was cursed and bound to this land. And then it became something strange."

>"I've heard that out there, when a person dies in a place like this they turn into a beast, as part of a curse or something. Is that true? Here, everyone returns to shadeless phantoms. Those who leave behind corpses are either gods, or never had life in the first place."

Now, this one is the last (of this series) that they posted before going for the other side. . .
Seems like they managed to leave the forest, and probably went quite far, but what the heck is happening and what the heck will happen? We will never know.

Anyways, thanks QM for letting me hijack your thread.

might be that they are seeing one of the eternal rulers of the lands... maybe a digitalized human mind with this being their throne.

Considering that they have found mystical and technological things it would make sense that some pretty advanced stuff is still around. And those blessings might be from super advanced technology.

thanks for sharing those pictures. They tell a good story.

My thoughts are that, since in the translated bits it's mentioned "sanity of the gods" a couple of times, if the sanity of the gods is being put into question, I would assume the rest of the world isn't much better. I don't know where the mystical and the technological meet in the world, maybe they advanced rapidly while the Hero was lost in the forest, or maybe just separated geographically, but it's probably safe to say that the gods still had some presence in the advanced world, and maybe are even the reason the world advanced so much. Anyways, I think they were trying to create a vessel for some random god and things backfired without them even realizing.

I could always go to their Twitter and google translate the description of the image, but since the story is basically just the girls' perspective of things, if they don't know, we don't know.

Yeah, I really like them
