The Watching Stone had stood there as long as any could remember, and obelisk of grey with white lines striking through its otherwise boring facade. But that wasn't the focus of the event- at least, not yet. The fight was fierce, with rain pouring down and lightning cracking the sky. His opponents axe swung down, splintering the weapon in his hands like tinderwood, pushing him back and back, towards The Watching Stone. Perhaps something saw him. Lighting cracked down from the sky, a bolt of incandescent blue energy striking the stone, and stunning all those around. Slowly, almost ceremoniously, the stone fell in two. Within, huge and terrible, a spear of brilliant steel shone, standing straight and tall, still crackling with the lightning that had freed it from its entrapment. On its head, ancient and unknowable scrip told tales no living man could ever read, and the ornate engraving on its haft described beasts and land long fallen to dust. It has been waiting, and watching, oh so long, waiting for a hero worthy of wielding it. Now, it has chosen You.
The Sword of Storms Forged from iron mined from the bottom of the sea with ancient magic, melted by called lightning and forged by the hammer of a mountain, cooled in the waves of a Tsunami. The blade is a mix of different hues of blue, all flowing together. When it moves, it sounds like water, whether a stream, rain or wave. When it strikes, it sounds like a thunderclap. When it kills, the very air rises up in a dark mix of celebration and mourning. It flows around any defence, and those it hits are struck with the force of a tidal wave and the power of a lightning bolt, their ears torn to shreds with peals of hideous thunder. If the user dies, then a watery grave awaits them, as the very ground sunders and the deep earth attempts to recall the sword to it- but, as yet, has proved unsuccessful. What entity waits deep beneath for the return of their blade remains to be seen... |
