I CAN'T TELL IF THERE'S TOO MUCH CAFFINE IN MY SYSTEM OR NOT ENOUGH.

Once again, you are Commander David Lister, ace mobile suit pilot for the Principality of Zeon, and CO of the elite Nachtmaren Unit.

For the last few episodes, you've been pussyfooting around trying to hunt down a Loyalist Terror Cell, who using several Nukes and a stolen Fortress Assault MS were about to destroy Von Braun for Gihren's own ends.

Last episode, you got the location of where they were hiding. So it's time for the Nachtmaren to do what they do best.

You're current situation is like this.

You're target is currently hiding out in a resource storage sattelite in the Rickenbaker Expanse, a ring of geosynchronous facilities around the moon. Newtype supplied intel suggest that their defenses will consist of probably nothing worse than a pair of Rick Doms, as well as the Jupiter Ghost itself.
They WERE scheduled to make the attack on Sunday, but if they've gotten word from somewhere that they might be compromised, then it's assumed they'll launch. So the sooner you take them out the better.

At the moment you're team consists of you, Joylne and Bernie, with Zolomon on Von Braun with Ramba Ral, acting as the last line of defence.

Aside from this, you've also been joined with Char Aznable and his own personal command ship, which should allow you to zoom about wherever you want without raising too many questions.

The Mobile Suits you currently have are
    Your Nacht-Zaku
    Jolynes Gelgoog Cannon
    and Bernies Zaku Kai.

So, what sort of weapons do you want, and do you have any further tactical questions?

Anyway, what weapons? We're fighting in space against a high mobility target that shoots fast moving missiles.
    We want beam spam.
Also, where the buggery is the Bigro or the Val Varo? Both will be incredibly helpful here.

And before anyone else says it:
WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT TO BE CHAR'S WINGMEN.
Take a lot of beam weapons, have char take some too.
Hell, show off the Act Zaku II to Char. Char might like the idea of a high thruster output Act Zaku with lots of close-range combat options, since Char sure as fuck loves that type of combat.

The JG has an anti-beam field, and is weakly armored. Throwing enough 90mm dakka at it will cripple it, though we do still want beam spam to shoot down the missiles.

Makes sense. Have we considered getting a platoon of Wappa infantry, a bunch of recruit MS pilots to operate with us, a wing or two of space-capable fighters, and some artillery support with us to become a full Nachmaren Company?

We do have the rank for it, our book proves we have the tactical aptitude for it, and transferring the Nachtmaren's skills to new pilots is vital to Zeon's war effort.

Zeon, IIRC, was very short on pilots for most of the war - making pilot skills the most important resource. If we can transfer our skills to the new blood, we'll greatly increase Zeon's chances of getting favourable terms of a ceasefire.

We already have Wappa Dragoons. They recently lost most of their number at Odessa, helping us and Cima take down 4 Pegasus carriers. We're still waiting on new members to refill the ranks, last I heard. They're good men.

Unfortunately, our ship is not big enough to hold more suits or any tanks or aircraft, so we'd need another ship. And right now, after loosing Odessa, Zeon is more pressed for resources than ever.

But you're right, the fact that it's being made at all, as well as the Elemeth, is a bad sign.

    #1. Don't be char's wingmen
    #2: Go go go ASAP
#3: Keep radar open and active for anything MS-sized and fast moving.
#4a: If nothing is found, proceed to beam spam the support structures for the storage satellite, and ventilate it, so anything hiding inside has to get fucking moving.
#4b: If something found, ventilate it with dakka.
#5: Once the JG has been confirmed, spread out to ensure it can't outflank us, and converge on its position. Keep up pressure with Dakka, and keep beam guns at the ready.
#6: Keep top priority laser comms open with Von braun and all defensive forces. If the JG launches anything, start beaming the location of the JG's launched missile to ground and defense forces immediately.
#7: Missiles in flight are priority 1 targets. Nuclear missiles don't explode when hit (unless you roll a natural 1), so beam spamming them like we did at Odessa would work.
#8: What do you mean beamspamming the missile at Odessa made it blow up? Fuckin' cartoon physics man.
#9: Anyway, keep dakka up on the JG, shoot down its missiles, move in, and try to kick its ass.
#10: Go on date with Jolyne.

If there is a way that we could slip the marines quietly onto the satellite we should try it, because otherwise we're wither guess about where to put our forces or probably spreading ourselves too thin to make an effective attack.

The problem with this is that I think that smaller cargo pods are probably more than large enough to hold a mobile suit. I'd only feel safe ignoring those if we checked to make sure there were no external doors on those pods that a MS could exit through.

The one good thing about this situation is with its emphasis on long range armament I don't think we need to we too worried about the ghost cutting open any extra doors.

Is the long cannon on the ghost a projectile or a beam weapon? I'm not sure if I can remember that ever being bought up, what with all the focus on 'omg why did you guys put nukes on a mobile suit?'

I'm worried about the fact that we're ignoring the cargo pods. A mobile suit might not be able to get into a pod by walking down the internal corridor, but a breakaway pod put together around the JG could be possible.

You outline the plan to cover all exits quickly but carefully, and in concert with the infantry as you all make your way at best speed to the target.

You make sure you're loadout is all sorted before you leave, and make to suit up as quickly as possible.
Over the intercom you address the troops, hopefully Char wont mind you stepping on his toes, but honestly you suspect Char could do with having his toes stepped on every now and then.

"It goes without saying that there is no margin for error in this mission. The price of failure is an utterly unthinkable one, and one which we cannot allow. So I want you all to stay vigilant and alert. Take nothing for granted. That'll be all."

Hopefully that should work. You always feel a bit amateur when you do these speeches.

The ship continues on it's way. About 45 minutes later you spot the target. Static and seemingly still, hanging in space, almost innoculously, the Sattellite floats over Von Braun.
A damocles sword that hopefully nobody will ever know of.

You do a quick last minute rundown of your suits systems and you disconnect from the Musai, using bursts from your maneouvering thrusters to push yourself towards the target.
You've approached from an oblique angle from below, and all running lights have been shut off, so with a bit of luck you might not get spotted until it's too late...

Time passes and you float interminably slowly towards the target, at any point you fear that they might launch ahead of you, before you're in place. Thankfully, luck is on your side and you're able to get in place.

You place the blasting charges, count to three, and pull the switch.

There's a staccato of completely silent explosions, followed by a great rush of air that blows the doors away.
Covering the doors the marines rush in ahead of you to take a recce.

"It's here!" You hear one of them call out, suddenly there's a sharp scream and great blue shape surges past you at impossible speed, Appoly fires a missile from his Bazooka, but it goes wide. You're own beams craze around him, and almost without think your stab the button on your heat rod.
The magnetised grapple just manages to latch on before the great force of the Jupiter Ghost drags you off, powerful yank causes alarm signals to flare in your arm actuators, and the force of it disables the electric inductors you were going to use to stun the Mobile Suits.

As the satellite shinks away behind you, you realise that you've got yourself a Rodeo.

    Oh god, typo's everywhere.

    JOYLNES POV

The blasting charges take the doors and there's a massive deluge of escaping air. You see cargo and people fly past you.
You signal to Bernie to stay frosty over the laser comms since radio is too shortranged and patchy due to Minovsky Particles.
Plus you can't risk it being intercepted.

The marines dash in as soon as the worst of the escaping air has passed.
"We've got a Rick Dom! He's seen us!" You hear from the other side of the door.
You put the camera in your finger around the frame to spot the Rick Dom in the corner, there's a flash of light from it's beam scatter gun that blinds the camera. You hear screams from the team.
You lean over fully and fire a salvo of rockets from your wrist launcher at him. The missiles impact on the suits heavy armour and the explosions blossom. You see the now damaged frame retreat back towards the closed airlocks leading to the second warehouse section, now heavily damaged.
These doors open, and air and debris rush past him towards you, ruining your and Bernies aim as you both fire at him, trying to finish him off.
He pushes against the current with his high powered leg thrusters, firing a shot from his bazooka behind him at you as he goes.
You dodge out of the way as the rocket hits the sidewall of the pod and destroys it, leaving a massive hole where you had been taking cover seconds before...

You poke your head back in, the Rick Dom is out of sight. Probably hiding behind the dividing wall.
Smart... if he thinks you've only got solid weapons and no beam guns...

I feel at this point it's worth mentioning that the Nacht-Zaku doesn't have a limiter, it's basically on 100% all of the time.

Anyway, you push out the second arm and lash out with the second heat-rod. Just in time too as the forearm mounting for the first rod gives way. The hand clenches and ungrips spasmodically, releasing your hold on the beam carbine.

You hit the shocker, and system discharges a good dose of electricity into the mobile suit. The Jupiter Ghost flinches and twists around erratically, but the thrusters continue to flare.

You swerve sharply left and right as the fuelpods detatch and fly at you, less that a second after they pass you, they explode. The shock from your heat rod must have caused them to cook off. Still dragging you behind the Jupiter Ghost continues on it's way towards Von Braun.
You try to clench your suits free hand, but the damage to it from the Heat Rod coming loose damages the response, and you can't get a decent grip to pull on the rod and drag yourself in.

Instead you resort to firing you're head vulcans, hoping to hit something important.

Well, considering that he was the one who got us the data, and that he told us to attack at first chance so, he's probably prepared for this.
Plus, the Jupiter Ghost is hardly stealthy, just fast.
It wouldn't suprise you if the Von Braun authorities have spotted you by now.

The bullets from the head-vulcans ping off the armoured rear of the Ghost, although you're shots are erratic as the JG tries to shake you off.
You have a nagging supsicion you can almost see Von Braun coming up in front of you.

The thrusters are now begging to pulse instead of give a long hard continous burn, the last drop tanks must have badly depleted his fuel reserves, which gives a little less pressure on the surviving grapple. Still not enough for you to grab your bullpup however, and the other hand is still not responding.
You continue firing with your head vulcans, you see power spark as it's cut, but you don't appear to have hit anything major.

There's a bright blue flare of light as the Jupiter Ghost fires the Long Cannon at a target you can't see.

    Then, from over the intercom...

    "Hey boss... need a hand?"
There's a moment, a short brief moment, where you are just able to catch sight of Zolomon's Gyan Kreiger, it's thrusters being pushed beyond their limits, thermonuclear thrusters so bright it's like the mobile suit has a halo or corona of it's own, surging towards you both, it's lance down and ready.

Then, like a flash of lightning, the two mobile suits meet.

The Jupiter Ghost is spins on it's side, reeling you in like a fishing line, you spot it's arm falling away, prefectly severed, the 5 nuclear weapons still clenched in it's hand.

You use the shortened gap to pull youself down towards the main body of the Jupiter ghost, who arrest's his spin just in time to see that he's pulled you in front of himself.
You extend your leg, jam the thrusters, and activate the concealed leg mounted heat blade.
It pierces cleanly through the cockpit, throught the secondary electronics, just underneath the reactor and over the remaining fuel tanks, through the connecting fuel lines and through the armour on the rear and suddenly you're out on the other side and the Jupiter Ghost explodes behind you.

Any way you twist about in the rapidly diminishing space between you and the moon and angle yourself towards the nukes, you hit the thrusters again, and lash out with your poor overworked heat rod.
Luckily the wire remains true, and you get a grip on the severed arm, and reel it in. You grasp the Nukes and hold them close to the Nacht-Zaku to make sure you don't drop them and hit every single thruster you have.

Warning lights flash EVERYWHERE as you're already stressed and strained mobile-suit pushes itself beyond it's limits, and you're mercilessly crushed into your seat, the inertial compensation systems in the cockpit struggling to keep you concious... and alive.

Damn, the ground is coming up awfully fast... by your calculations, you're not going to survive this, but with a bit of luck, you'll have shedded enough velocity to make sure that protected by your body, the nukes wont detonate...

All of a sudden however, there beside you is Ramba Ral in his blue Mobile Suit.
"You look like you could do with a boost Commander!" he states rhetorically.

"Don't try it Ral! Your Gelgoog prototype doesn't have the thrust!"

There's a moment of pause, and then from the cockpit of his blue Galbady Alpha, Ramba Ral loudy states as he grasps onto you:
"THIS IS NO GELGOOG BOY! NO GELGOOG!"

This time, the added force IS sufficient to knock you out.

We told Char, Flanagan, Degwin the story - and none of them countermanded it. Not sure if we told Dozle or not.
And we got the information from Ramba Ral, who is a friend of the Zeon family - and thus a major enemy of Ghiren.

When you finally come to, you're suit has shut down, and you can't see anything. You're still in your pilots seat luckily, and you're 90% sure you haven't gone blind.
You do a quick emergency reboot and although a couple fo the viewscreens give nothing but static, you're able to get a good idea of the state of your mobile suit.
The leg actuators are shot, although they're luckily still attatched to you. Everything is only partially responsive, Ramba Ral's suit appears to be in a similar state next to you. You're radio has been knocked out, and your laser comm has been put out of alignment, although you think you could recalibrate it with a little time. But you'll have to resume contact with someone in the network however.

You move your monoeye, trying to get a view of the Nukes, luckily you spot them in the same impact crater as you, undamaged, still clutched by their severed Dom arm.

You appear to have missed puncturing Von Brauns ecosphere and have crash landed in the surrounding lunar landscape.
You check your cockpit for any internal damage, luckily the cockpit hasn't been exposed to the outside, and you're suit is still sealed.

And BALLS. I wanted to capture the Jupiter ghost because it would have been useful for my Jaburo invasion plan. Could we get another one made, or can we get another one of those anti-beam fields to put onto our own choice?

Really, even if it wasn't atmosphere capable it would have made for a stupidly effective anti-ship MA, especially because it could have a modified carrier recharging the I shield(or if it was an overheating problem, changing coolant), and rearming it at the same time. Seriously, with missiles that big they don't have to be a nuke to guarantee a kill. The long cannon is just icing on the cake. Just because it nearly doomed us isn't really reason to toss it away.

(Im the anon that was coming up with the plan to attack Jaburo. Probably going to start using a name soon)

G-Suits are standard issue for space operations. But they aren't generally considered essential for combat on earth.

Also, the Mobile Suit's legs are shot. The suit diagnostics are telling you that the actuators themselves completely non-responsive, also, several non-essential systems (like the heat blades in the legs) are also offline.

You exit your cockpit, a spare repair kit in hand. From outside the damage to your suit doesn't look so bad actually. The legs don't appear to be dislocated anywhere, and there's no obvious holes in the suit.
You hop over to Ramba Ral's suit.
On close inspection it does appear to not be the Gelgoog you saw him in last. Or rather, it appears to be an improved mobile suit, deliberately made to look like a Gelgoog.
You're guessing it's some kind of fake out, but the reasons behind it you couldn't begin to guess.

You get to the cockpit to discover it already empty. You guess Ramba Ral must have woken up before you. You spot his footprint in the lunar landscape, and follow them.

"Apparently word had gotten out about the Jupiter Ghost to Von Braun command, and when he started trying to buck you off, he made himself all kinds of visible. You had news reporters putting grainy footage all over the 12 o clock news.

"Do they at least know it's was Gihren's plot?"

The militia land and begin cordoning off the area, it's the medical staff who are the first to greet you, which is usually a good sign.

Nevertheless you refuse to budge until you manage to finally get a signal off to the rest of your team with your location.
By the time they arrive, a three ring circus has set up, with several camera shuttles hovering over the area's taking photo's and recording footage. The authorities have set up an oxygen tent for you whilst they check you both out, luckily you're okay, and Ramba Ral (as usual) is as hale and hearty as ever.

From what you can tell, Von Braun is largely aware that somebody tried to Nuke them even if they aren't willing to come out and say the name everyone must be suspecting. They seem more relieved than anything else.

Once the Falmal and the rest of your team arrive, Ramba Ral in liason with Von Braun authorities opt to move the weapons to neutral ground. Side 6. Where they, and the rest of the evidence can be assessed to find out and prove exactly what happened here today. He's already called Grenada for a full company of Mobile Suits to help escort this, and Von Braun will be supplying a decent sized force as well.

You board the ship and are greeted by Captain Char, seemingly non the worse for wear.

"It seems rather understated to say 'Good job Commander'" he states.

"No problems at the resource station yourself?" you ask.
"A couple of Zaku F2's that we hadn't accounted on, but nothing we couldn't handle with the advantage of suprise on our side. They activated the self destruct before we could capture them however, leaving no evidence or survivors. Nobody on our side was hurt in the blast, luckily. Although we did nearly have a friendly fire incident when your Fire Support officer put a beam cannon shot clean through the entire facility, but no harm done."

By this point you both have made it to the Falmels bridge, where the rest of the team awai you, Zolomon included. It must have taken him so long to decelerate after that fly-by attack that saved the day that he must have only stopped by the time he reached the ship.

    --OMAKE--

Jolyne took aim in the center of the dividing wall, and thumbed the Trigger on the Beam Cannon.
The beam lanced out, and kept going clean through walls and columns and from the angle it was travelling just managed to avoid Char Aznable's head.
Although she wasn't are of this at the time.

She nimbly darted her hulking Gelgoog out of the way of the resulting explosion as the Rick Dom and it's massive fuel reserves exploded, disintegrating the dividing wall.
Bernard dived into black smokecloud that resulted, his 90mm with GL gripped tightly in his hands.
He dashed into a room full of several strewn cargo containers floating in the air, many torn and shredded by the explosion.
He nimble landed once on then jumped off, scanning both corners as he went. His quick advance saved his life as a 330mm rocket lanced past where he just was, flying onwards, harmlessly into space.
He turn and fired a burst at the now revealed Rick Dom in the quarter. Avoiding his opponents second shot by quickly kicking off the wall back in the direction he came.
Already damaged by the bullets, the blast from Bernies underslung Grenade Launcher finished the Heavy Mobile Suit off.
    The exchange took seconds.

The force of the explosion however was sufficient to rip the entire modular warehouse block from it's connecting ports against the central hub.
The burst of ruptured air pushed the large structure away.
As it tumbled erratically through space, Jolyne gave the order to retreat out of the pod.

She was surprised when she managed to clamber to the exit and leap off, just how far they had gone. Then the facility proceeded to explode with a great flash of light.

She had time for the first few syllables of "Is everyone okay?" before the warhouse unit they had all escaped from exploded behind her as well, knocking her suit about, but doing little more luckily.

After the date with Joylne, we should decide on our two choices: One, go after the Federation by hitting Jaburo hard, or two, go after Ghiren. There is a third, but its pretty unlikely.

Advantages to hitting Jaburo: If we do enough damage(and my planning will do a shitton of damage) then we are better off for negotiations, which could be finished up by a mutual attack on Ghiren.
Advantages: War over, Ghiren dead at hands of alliance
Disadvantages: no guarantee of the federation agreeing to end the war. Ghiren is left alone, and might be able to get the colony laser working, proceeds to fuck up our shit and kills Revil.

option two: Go after Ghiren, take him down hard fast and then get down to the sweet sweet business of punching his traitorous face in, preferably with a lunar titanium fist.
Advantages: Ghirens getting his face beat in. That's really all I need to say.

Disadvantages: Federation is left unmolested, and might just be able to do the LOL INSTANT MAGELLAN FLEET launch that pretty much ends our bargaining position of power.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/10(Fri)20:26 No.12941604
    >>12941595

third option(very unlikely): try to get a ceasefire with the federation and an alliance against Ghiren.
Advantages: White Base, Outer Heaven, and attendant mobile suits all side by side attacking Ghiren. The LOLPLOTARMOR resulting rape would be legendary.
Disadvantages: very unlikely to happen, pretty much depends on Revil realizing how much of a threat Ghiren is. Ceasefire might also be ended, which then ends with us back nearly where it began, minus Ghiren(hopefully)

off topic, i was thinking, and i realized that the Delaz fleet incident is probably going to happen, even if we manage to take down Ghiren, Delaz is going to notice that the battle is lost, and retreat. In Character, David has no reason to go after him immediately. That could set up a possibility of the Titans forming(very likely actually) and lead to AEUG Quest with Natchmaren. There probably would be enough Ghiren supporters that flee the last battle to survive willing to help him in Cima's place. (because we would totally call bullshit on her war crimes, and fly off to find her and get the real story. We are a Knight of Zeon, we can do that.)

    so, thoughts anyone?

I had this amusing mental image of David calling bullshit on Cima being the one responsible for the war crimes, going out and finding her, and pretty much asking for an explanation(with death being the alternative)

My idea was that if zeon was still around after the war, and my plan(david's) for Jaburo worked out we might be the highest ranking military officer that is not being put under house arrest.(because the federation would totally require the Zabi's to give up power, possibly with the exception of Garma) For all intents and purposes we would be stuck picking up the pieces, and if David hears this story about Cima being resposible for war crimes(which we IC really can't see her doing knowingly) the following might happen:

    David(skullKnight voice): "EXPLAIN THIS SHIT."
Cima: "Not my fault!! His fault!!"
after getting full story, david heads off and shoots the real perpetrator.
David(normal voice): "And that settles that! Cima, you take over this fleet, I need an intelligent commander to keep them on their toes."
End result: Cima's name cleared, she now works for us/zeon with extreme loyalty.

Yeah, while Ghiren might run off and be the reason for Titans to form, i think its more likely that we will be headhunting him, hoping to keep the casualties low, and we will be going after him with EXTREME prejudice if he actually manages to get the colony laser working. If we get Cima as a supporting team for that, we use the time planning to find out if she had any dealings with him. We could also get her as a more permanent support as we do larger and larger missions, which we couldn't do on our own.

I really want to know if we can build another Jupiter Ghost or a derivative of it, because it would make for a wicked anti-ship suit. Most ships have beam guns on them, so the I shield stops that, and by the time they realize that its not dead it should be in missile range. It tags four- five ships, kills them, takes a couple of shots with the long cannon and heads back. When it reaches its mothership, it connects up, exchanges coolant(to deal with the slow recharge on the I-shield) and gets more missiles. If we armored it with lunar titanium, it would be a near unstoppable force, invincible to beams, too fast to melee, and extremely hard to damage with machine guns. It would require a near dedicated carrier, but holy shit, it would be totally worth it.

    any thoughts?

The first is almost certainly what's going to end up happening in my opinion. Garma had already set things in place for a follow up attack by the sounds of things with the Rio Grande line. Once we pull troops from there it'll be no going back though.

I would like to suggest a limited offensive to pin the Federal forces in northern Mexico and then launch the third Jaburo assault. Specifically do what we were trying to do the first time and kill the remaining land battleships,C3 and supply lines. They'd have to be simultanious high speed strikes with different teams, preferrably with Zanzibar support. If we've had any luck fitting Zanzibars with the Minovsky Craft system this would be the time to employ them. I estimate we'll need a minimum of 4 such teams with a beam weapon heavy loadout. After completing their missions they head out via the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.

We give the teams 12 hours to RTB and repair before launching the Jaburo attack. I'm uncertain of when the Space Attack Force should begin their assault on the Jaburo orbital garrison. Too soon and we wont have enough time to clear the air defenses.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/10(Fri)21:46 No.12942146

Actually, i was going to leave the rest of the forces alone, so that when they send help to Jaburo, we can invade Odessa, or any other juicy targets that sends off too much aid. Hitting them could work much the same though.

And yeah, i was thinking about the air forces, and had a kinda crazy idea for a mobile armor. Think of it as a giant carrot, with 3 Minkovsky craft engines on the top supporting it, several powerplants in the center, covered in anti air and beam weapons, with a set of 2 or 3 of the beam cannons from the Apsalus on the tip, or any really heavy duty weapon that could cut through the defenses fast. It would basically hover in the air, with a I-Shield(hopefully), and spewing beams in every direction, while its giant beam cannons blast ever closer into Jaburo. Best thing is, this could easily be adapted to space battles, Just replace the Mikovsky crafts with booster rockets, and Ta-dah a mobile fortress. I named it DFA!

I was partially writing what would be in the book David wrote, particularly on how to use Mobile Armors and Mobile suits in conjecture, and this was sort of the idea: A mobile armor acts as a fire-base, supporting its complement of Mobile suits with its lesser weapons, while its greater are used to destroy enemy ships. The introduction of I-fields means that a Mobile armor can be used to get its Mobile Suits into close range without worrying about getting sniped by a beam, until they leave the area of the shield. Obviously, allowing for integrated I-fields would give us a great advantage on the tactical level. Seriously, read these for the idea regarding the Jupiter Ghost:

There's a big problem with that though. It's a big enough target that even without computer guidance, AA missiles will still be able to hit it pretty reliably. And Jaburo has TONS of fighters. Like, literally HUNDREDS of them. They'd likely just fire one or two missiles apiece and it would go boom, then they'd engage anything else in the area. I know, I know, we'd give the thing escort fighters, but really, their numbers are enough that it just would not be enough. Not to mention, the fighters would engage any escorts and allow bombers to fly up to it and drop bombs all over the thing.

I mean, I suppose if we made the entire thing out of Lunar Titanium, it would be able to survive hundreds of fighters and bombers, but I just don't think that we'd be able to get that much LT in time and honestly, even if we could I'd bet it would do more good in the form of LT-armored mobile suits.

Mhhm. point. I was thinking that it would have a truly ridiculous amount of anti aircraft firepower, but yeah it would probably go down. If you ahve a better idea of how to get into Jaburo ,lets see it. So far, it was that or using the drill battleship we captured a looong time ago. And that wouldn't really get enough of our forces in fast enough. Any way we attack above ground will have us facing those aircraft, so i figured having a huge amount of anti air on a mobile fortress would help. In Gundam, Zeon never really went after Jaburo a third time, so we have to make our own entrance plan, rather than using one of theirs.
    >>12942269
Yeah, i actually did want the Big Zam there, its anti air beams were pretty effective, even if they don't cover up and down. But the mass production model of the Big Zam was wimpy compared to the original. And even if we made the to the same level, it would still run into the problem of mass fighters.
    >> Researcher Sam 11/26/10(Fri)22:27 No.12942398
    >>12942320
I mean, with shit-tons of AA it'll take down a few dozen fighters..... but not before even more launch their missiles and blow it up.

My idea is, we blew a pretty big hole in there when we hit their MS facilities last time. So that's our way in. We wait for Dozel to finish the Big Zam and have that help as well, making another entrance if necessary. Aquatic insertion has worked both times before, so there's that as well. Once our forces are inside, we use something that was brought up a few threads back: specially redesigned Rhinos, with the rear flak turrets repositioned on the front and armed with beam rifles. A beam rifle in each hand, and the 300mm cannon replaced with a massive beam cannon. The rear is taken up by a large reactor to power all dem beams. Missiles are replaced with anti-beam chaff in case they need to retreat. These things fill the space in front of them with a solid wall of beam weaponry. The flanks and rear are covered be an escort of Ms. We use these to clear out wherever we go, but only use them in narrow corridors and the spaces between blocks where flanking and rear attacks will be extremely difficult., or in already cleared areas to take them to a new corridor-type area. Worst comes to worst, the pilots can hop out and get picked up by the escorting MS and leave the thing to blow, the massive reactor causing an explosion which will do even MORe damage.

ohh yeah right i forgot about the hole. I figured that if we put multiple reactors on a rhino, it should be able to get like maybe 6 or so beam rifles going, more if the twin rifle worked and we could power it.(twin rifles being merely a pair of beam rifles put side to side, firing alternately, to increase the ROF)

    >>12942415
Yeah, the flying carrot was going to be liberally covered in the things. Like more than the Big Zam by a couple of times. It was a slow moving orbit capable flying fortress. we could also use it to merely secure the entrance if its still open, by hovering at the perimeter, blasting anything it sees.

actually, only some of the rhinos should have the beam cannons. Remember how the Feds attacked Solomon? they used heavy beam chaff right on top of the beam cannons, we could replicate that. Once they are covered, we shell them with the 300.

Considering how much we are getting into this, maybe we should have a strategy thread tomorrow? we could present what plans we have, and everyone could comment and criticize them until we have something that might work.

That was actually what I suggested myself. Rather than beams, use solid-slug weaponry. We've seen that 440mm rockets can eat through LT armor when we were in Canada. And this way we need not fear any anti-beam chaff. But I think you're right, a combination of both would be most effective. I'd say, 4-ish beam rifles (2 hands, 2 turrets) and then the 300mm cannon with high AP rounds for in case of too much chaff.

We dont have the manpower or resources to do both.

    >Flying beam carrot
It'd need to be the size of a cruiser to support that kind of weaponry and would mean diverting industrial capacity from other projects. Pick a project that we'd have to kill.
Then on to what Sam said: It's a big sitting target for Jaburo's AA and interceptor missile defenses.

    >So far, it was that or using the drill battleship we captured a looong time ago. And that wouldn't really get enough of our forces in fast enough. Any way we attack above ground will have us facing those aircraft, so i figured having a huge amount of anti air on a mobile fortress would help.
Hang on a sec, that's brilliant. We could use it to create a new entrance for our amphibious assault so that they're not running all over the place looking for one. That or use the remaining Agg to do the same.
then again that would take forces away from what'll be securing the beach head.

Yeah i think i remember that. I was thinking though, replace the missiles with grenade launchers on the beam using ones. Gives them a lot more punch, and we could probably even have multiple payload grenades, with a variety of HE, beam chaff, smoke, flashbangs, etc. If they were heavy duty automatic grenade launchers? Hell, that only makes it that much more impossible to get a shot off at them. Try aiming at the tank while getting blanketed in high explosives and flashbangs. That gives the beam rhino some defense against beam users(try using a beam rifle inside a cloud of anti beam chaff, come on i dare you) and some indirect fire capability(beam guns are linear, and don't arc, so can't shoot over the heads of MS screens as easily.) Hmm, yeah this might work out OK after all.

i was thinking of putting an insanity related modifier, or something like DFA. Can never have too much death from above. And my love of high power weapons is easy to see.

strategy wise, we CAN do a multiple beachhead assault, time it so that they start moving troops to one beachhead and then the next opens up and starts hitting them from behind. And yeah, the carrot was going to be pretty large. It was a prototype Mobile Fortress, designed to support Mobile Suit based armed forces. It would do so by basically providing a safe zone( I Field generators to prevent beam sniping) and area denial(via the ridiculous number of weapons on it) Hell, it could be a refit Musai for all i care, so long as it can float in the sky, and is beam proof, it should be pretty effective. Most anti capital defenses are beam based right? If beams don't work, it will take a WHILE to get through with missiles, unless they have anti-ship missiles laying around on the ground, where they probably wouldn't be used, rather than in space where they could be used. Also, anything big enough to do damage should take some time to get there, see if we can't train gunners to shoot them down.

Minovski Craft system, and yes I agree we need some on warships.

And as for increased beam AA defenses we've captured GM spray beam guns. Why not just replace some (not all) of the Zanzibar II's 120mm point defense guns with them?

Except that the I-Field eats up fuckhueg amounts of energy. And doesn't block non-beam weaponry, leaving it open to any ground or air defenses that don't have beams. Which is probably a LOT. And I mean, something the size of a Musai, or even 3 Musais, wouldn't have the reactor energy to keep an I-field up for very long under the sustained assault of a large number of beam weapons. There were over 100 Federation MS at Odessa. Jaburo is where they make said Ms, and while they probably don't have as many here anymore since we blew one of their MS factories, I'm guessing they have at least 5-6 companies of GMs or some such. Now, if a single company is assigned to take out the Carrot, that's 18 Ms. Firing beam weapons. Figure 20 shots before they need a new E-pac. That's 360 beam shots at the Carrot. And then they take 10-15 seconds to reload and do it again. And again. Our I-field can't withstand firepower of that magnitude, to paraphrase a certain amphibious space-commander.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, just having an I-field does not make the thing it's attached to beam-proof. It gives it some protection from beam weaponry for a minute or two [assuming that it isn't overloaded by, say, 360 beam shots within a few seconds] and then runs out of power and needs to recharge for a minute or more. And that still leaves it vulnerable to solid slug weapons. The fact of the matter is that beams have pretty much ended the plausibility of fuckheug warships, because even if they're big and have meters and meters of armor, LT armor even, a beam weapon punches right through it. I love giant battleships too, but they just aren't viable here.

Why wait for the Big Zam when it's a delicious target? Just get a cheaper alternative that won't be as vulnerable unlike a big target.

As for anti-air beam weaponry, have we figured a way to make longer-ranged beam sprayguns? Something like a scattering mega particle cannon, but more efficient since we don't need too much power against aircraft.

How expensive are the Jupiter Ghost parts compared to an Elmeth? Sure, the research was expensive, but the plans and parts are already done, but there has to be a way to make the essential parts mountable on any suit; UMP-compatibility, speaking here.

Get the bare essentials for the JG's role, slap the pack onto a suit and you have a ghetto Dendrobium.

Of course, it's a luxury compared to the need for a Zakraider. Oggos aren't gonna cut it against Ball spam later on.

As for the fighter cover over Jaburo, do we have or can we build anything similar to the ballistic missile with self-forging fragmentation munition warheads from Ace Combat 5?
Basically a warhead that explodes and creates a wall of shrapnel.
If we could set up a fake artillery base that looks like it's designed to strike Jaburo to lure our their air power, we could try to hit them with this and make them strategically neutralized for our main attack.
The warheads could be designed to detonate on a timer fuse rather than attempting to use electronics.

Strategist here, just got my trollface on. Normally, I don't do anything that can be considered overly trollworthy, but this takes the cake, if it's possible. We captured a pegasus class right? I wonder, did it have any unused mobile suits? Do the feds know we captured it?
Hmmm. I wonder if that might be a beach-head right there?
"This is Pegasus Class -static- Requesting Lan-static-zone, -static-ave taken heavy damage -static- majority of systems are -static-, request emergeny docking-static-ease Hurry we don't have much long-static-fore it falls apart around us!"
same goes with the mobile suits. Set up a situation where it looks like it has taken severe damage, especially to communications. Retreat through their lines, shoot them in back or infiltrate farther with spies onboard. Yes, this is most certainly trolling the feds.

One more thing people: This is probably our last mission on earth. After this, we are likely going to be packing up and leaving, as there is no way we can continue to deadlock them. Something else we should look at is the feasibility of attacking Luna-2, the feds space command.

actually not really, i had to go and watch the episode first. And really, the captains of those magellans need to shoot their fire control officers, holy shit they were missing so much, its not like its a small target!
Search youtube for episode 35: Big Zam's Last Stand. its like 2/3 or 3/4 of the way in. Dozle did say they were long range beams, but there was a lot of them. I think it was like 7 or so magellans that were shown shooting at it. They don't have plotarmor though, so draw your own conclusions. If I remember correctly, the Big Zam had a 20 min hard limit on operation too, before it would overheat due to bad design. Mind you, this is just random stuff I read on various websites, so I don't know how accurate it is, or even if I remember correctly. And really, the Big Zam was Dozle's personal ace in the hole, it might not be available, or even completed.

Yeah, that's something I've noticed a lot in Mecha animes: rather than show the armor of characters taking hits and risk either hurting them or showing their plot armor too much by not being damaged, the enemy will just miss a fuckload. The biggest offender I can think of at the moment is Zoids CC. Fucking hell, everyone just misses all the time..... And there aren't so much explosions as big puffs of dirt from the impact.

But yeah, they realize that if they were actually competant, the Big Zam probably would be in trouble. So their aiming turns to crap.
    >> Anonymous 11/27/10(Sat)01:22 No.12944039
I don't think taking on another operation to assault Jaburo is a very good idea.

This will be our third try at it, and while we've done some significant damage in the past, none of our raids have produced the permeant reduction in war production that Zeon really needs to turn the war around. In the past we've trashed their warship production facility (forcing them to drop additional Magellan and Salamis production to focus on the Pegasus program) and we've totaled some of their mobile suit production (decreasing the number of GM squads they've been able to field). But even with those we still got pushed out of Odessa and are looking to lose the rest of the Earth if things keep going this way. Another assault on Jaburo might slow them down (again) but we don't have the manpower or the firepower to fully remove Jaburo from the equation, so we'd only be delaying them (yet again) at the cost of suits and pilots that we can't afford to replace at this stage in the war.

An assault on Luna 2 has a lot more potential than Jaburo part III.

The bulk of the federation fleet has been been hiding in Luna 2 to keep their ships away from our space-superiority mobile suits after the thrashing they took from them in the one week war, and they'll stay there until they can get enough GM and ball cover to safely come out to battle. As things stand with the damage we've done do to their warship and GM production they can't have as large a space force as they did in the canon timeline, and their fleet can't have as much in the may of MS support. If we can successfully raid Luna 2 we might be able to take out a large percentage of their current space assets, and if we can capture it outright we'll have taken out the federation's last foothold off of Earth.
    >> Researcher Sam 11/27/10(Sat)01:28 No.12944101
    >>12944039
Well, the idea is that most of their GMs are in Odessa now. Consolodating there isn't going to be quick. So we strike fast through the Rio GRande line, trash the place, set a few massive MA reactors in it, pull out, detonate reactors, and destroy it once and for all.

Or if we're lucky, manage to capture it outright and not have to destroy it at all, though that'll be far more difficult.

And this is EXACTLY where it would have been perfect to have a couple of Jupiter Ghosts, with the dedicated motherships that i outlined earlier. Blitz them with 5 of them, each has five missiles, thats a good 25 solid kills, as well as whatever the long cannon can snipe. After that, they retreat, rearm and repeat. Even if we only get like runs off, that could be over 120 ships. If we show that we can still hurt the Fed, even in their supposedly uncontested zones, we can increase their willingness to go to the bargaining table. And that plan assumes its only 5 Jupiter Ghosts, which would realistically be only a portion of the attack fleet. The reason we were planning for another Jaburo is because Garma mentioned it, and it wouldn't take spaceships to do. If we give Ghiren an opening in space, yeah watch the Antarctic treaty get tossed out the window in 30 seconds flat.

    >>12944000
The fire control officer said it was some sort of magnetic field, it probably spends more power just building the field than deflecting the beam. If it is like that, then you can model its power draw as =X + nY where x is the amount of power needed to get the field up, n is the number of shots, and Y is the amount of power needed per shot. If it is like that, then Y has to be pretty small, the Big Zam was for all intents and purposes ignoring the fire, even at close range. But it might have just been monster of the week syndrome, where the only person that can defeat the monster is the hero. Watch the episode and draw your own conclusion.

Even with 'most' of their forces in Odessa, Jaburo is still going to have substantial forces assigned to its defense. A lot of the fed's ground forces were closing in on Odessa the last time we raided Jaburo and we still weren't able to pull off a decisive victory. The situation really hasn't changed that much since the last time. Jaburo is till heavily fortified and defended by a large number of troops, who we have done an excellent job of battle hardening through our prior assaults, and Zeon keeps getting more and more tired.

And as time has gone on the fed has done its best not to have all of its eggs in one basket anymore. It's still their largest production facility, but it's no longer their ONLY significant production facility. It used to be their GHQ, but by now those functions will have finished moving to Dublin where we can get to them. Each time we attack we have less of an opportunity to deal a crippling blow thanks to the ongoing decentralization program. All we could realistically do is hit some of their production, and I can't see us pulling off a decisive win even with that.

Even if we were successful all we would be doing would be dragging out the course of the war, which is exactly what we don't want to be doing. The longer this goes on the greater the chances that we will lose badly.

    >>12944179
A team of Jupiter Ghosts would be ideal for cracking Luna 2 open like an egg. It was kind of what they were designed for. Acting as a spreadhead for a larger task force Zeon would CLEAN HOUSE.

As for Ghiren we'll have to see how the fallout from our last mission works out. Ghiren failed to take Von Braun in a very public way and now he may be totally cut off from further resources to fuel the war effort. I'm sure he'll want to try something awful, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this bring him to the negotiating table.

Back to the Mass produced Jupiter Ghost you guys have been speculating on. If we're just using them for a couple of fast strikes to deliver heavy missiles against capital ships why not pull a GP03/Fast pack system? Stip it down to the bare essentials of what we really need and have an MS act as an escape vehicle if it gets blown up.
    Pic related if somewhat fail.
    Skiure: anti-ship mobile gun emplacement
and the Skute support vehicle. Combine those with the Jupiter Ghost data if there's anything left. You have 1 type that has the beam cannon and a second type that carries a big missile. No real armor to speak of just engines a weapon and an MS controlling it. We might as well use a Rick Dom since they'll be fast enough to escape once their vehicle is gone.

Realistically, we cannot take out Luna 2 while Ghiren is still around. Even if we cut him off from outside supplies, he has enough forces and stockpiles to keep his insanity going for a while. for Jaburo, if we had a remodeled Musai or Zanzibar kitted out in the way i mentioned, then we should be capable of doing some serious damage. Withe Minovski Craft, it would not have to expend fuel to hover. With additional powerplants, it can power many more weapons, including anti air beams, and anti missile scatter beams. Remember, missiles are -fragile- a correctly tuned beam spraygun could probably work decently for anti missile duty. If it would cost them too many airplanes, they will not waste them attacking the ship. We don't have to make it untouchable, just painful enough to not be worth it.

Luna 2 would be a really nice way to get the feds on the bargaining table though. Problem is that it is going to be RIDICULOUSLY well defended. Not saying I couldn't crack it, but i would need some time and a lot of information. It took me a while to get a Jaburo plan together, and that wouldnt be nearly as complex as attacking luna-2, which is like attacking pearl harbor, minus the surprise, meaning they would be ready to receive us, with MEGA SUPER SPAM FIRE EVERYTHING.

They would send EVERYTHING to counter our attack and that means White Base, with the Gundam, who we want to avoid.
But it would be a massive boost to win that battle.

    I see it like this:

Raiding Jaburo again would incur serious losses on our remaining forces which we cannot easily replace. Even if all the fed ground troops from the odessa op are still in the Ukraine (which they might not be) it is still a very heavily defended fortress. Since we've been in space for a while saving the moon, at least some of the forces from the Ukraine have had more than enough time to get transferred back to south america. Even without those reinforcements, Jaburo is still a well designed fortress defended by battle hardened veterans. Even if we do attack, our previous track record suggests that while doing significant damage, we just cannot bring the forces to bear that are needed to fully exterminate the place. Only by fully destroying Jaburo can we hope to bring the fed to the barging table, and that seems unlikely. We don't have an effective plan to get inside yet. That is kind of very important. And then there's the fact that we'd need to come out of Jaburo strong enough to still be able to take on Ghiren in space afterwards.

    >>12944471
There are a lot of forces at Luna 2, but they have not seen a single major engagement there. If I'm remembering the series correctly, this made them somewhat fat with haughty self-assurance. And most of their forces are going to be in Magellan and Salamis warships, which were schooled thoroughly by early model zakus in the one week war. That's why they are hiding in Luna 2; they don't have enough GM or ball support to come out for an open fight. If we can pull off a decent raid our current space based mobile suits will slaughter them. And if we take out Luna 2, ZEON OWNS SPACE which is far more likely to make the federation come to the table than another raid to blow up some of jaburo.

So i should start building a plan to break Luna-2? Okay, i can do that. Unfortunately, that would require Legitimacy warships, from Kycelia, who we do not have a casual working friendship with. We CANNOT take legitimacy warships off of the line until we have dealt with Ghiren. Also, the federation has yet to launch their magellan fleet, that was supposed to be covered by the pegasus class carriers.
Also, at this time the forces at Luna-2 might not have gotten complacent yet, in which case it could get very ugly, very fast. God help us if Revil is there when we attack, cause our generals will utterly fail to even slow his counterattack. If I had command of the fleet, then yeah, i could probably work around something like that, but it would still be painful. Hell I came up with a way to deal with Amuro without triggering instant plot armor, but I don't think it would work when we are on the attack. On the other hand if we are defending, it would probably work.

Captain Char Aznable was not the type of person to let infantry go in first. Roberto knew this, although he was not the type to bring these things up. He knew that Char had the skills to back this sort of archaic, almost chivalrous way of fighting up. He also however was aware that if you let him lead you by example, which working with Char would sometimes be so hard to resist, you would die.
As only Char could do the things Char could do.
Well, certainly he'd yet to find a wingman who could keep up with him.
When you were a wingman with Char Aznable, the best way to stay alive was to stop thinking about all of the propaganda, stop trying to match his pace, and just think about how to best support him and let him get on with his objective.
It had taken Char 10 months to find wingmen who figured this out.

When the doors blew, Char went in first, his 330mm Bazooka chosen in lieu of his standard beam rifle to prevent friendly fire.
Dodging the Zaku's 120mm fire like he knew it was coming, he put a single well place rocket into the F2 model's center torso, blowing it cleanly in half.
The reactor must have automatically quenched.

Roberto got on with the task of scanning the ground for any enemy support infantry, confident that there were non, he moved up and put a hole through the airlock that divided the two rooms in this section. The burst of air pushed him back out of the exit, but Char was undisturbed and darted around in through the hole.

Roberto moved back in in time to see the adjoining wall explode towards him. Luckily he wasn't close enough to be effected. As the smoke cleared he could see Char beginning to cut his way to the central section with his Beam Naginta. When he joined him, he spotted the blackened head of a second Zaku.

The beam took them both by suprise. It passed without any warning directly over Char's head, where mere moments his Mobile Suits head had occupied. If he handn't been leaning down to finish off slicing the door off, then he could have been killed.

The extra hole was all that was need to the shredded door to blow inwards. Char barely hesitated to push forwards, into the command section.

"This is Captain Char of the Legitimate Zeon Forces. Stand down and surrender!" He called on an open comm.

"Sir!" Roberto heard over the comlink. It wasn't the conspirators, he instead recongised it as that of the Squad leader of Team 4, sent to investigate the smaller cargo-pods.
"This whole place is rigged to blow! They've started the timers! We have to get everybody out!"

Char's voice once again betrayed no signs of panic.
"Roberto, Appoly, we've got to get out of here! Put as much distance as you can from the satellite!"

They barely made it to a safe distance.

That could work, but its a question of if it would count as a violation of the antarctic treaty. If it isn't, then ohhh yeah I will have FUN with this.
Actually, use that right before the first beach-head, yeah it would be effective. Also, the shock-waves and seismic impacts would probably cover the drill battleship, meaning it gets farther in without getting detected. All in all, nice advantages. IT would force orbital assets to break away from their positions at attack the cannon. This would be a PERFECT place to have a new Jupiter Ghost harass them, as even if they could kill it they have more to worry about from the mass driver(that is what the cannon is right?) This would be a great place to rack up some kills, when they can't hit back effectively. Especially on Pegasus class carriers, as those are getting to be a problem.

I wonder if we can get a beam missile, that basically is a giant beam round(which were minovski particle bottles, according to apolgised earlier in the thread) to deal with lunar titanium? If you can store a beam rifle shot in something as small as a rifle with the power to seriously mess up anything in front of it, then i figure a larger bottle in a missile should be every bit as effective against ships, if not more so due to the sheer volume difference. It would make for a very effective non nuclear option.

Problem is that Ghiren might have that weapon, in which case we have a, hmmm how to put it? Bad Situation. He knows where Pezun and Solomon is, he could snipe them, and there goes all of our advanced suits and a large chunk of manufacturing.

This would be one of the advantages of taking out Luna 2. Not only would we eliminate most of their fleet and wreck a good portion of their main staging facility, Luna 2 is where they keep the nukes. If we take out those and the only thing holding us to the Antarctica treaty is our own personal desire to conduct war in a civilized fashion, not the ever-present threat of nuclear annihilation. That's something that would be sure to make the federation want to settle.

strategist here, yeah I started working on cracking luna-2, but its gonna be nasty. we could do it, but im worried that Ghiren would be all over our bases, and he's crazy enough to ignore the antarctic treaty, which means nukes, nerve gas, the works. I checked a short vid from Ghirens greed, i think they have like at least 140 something ships there, and they probably all have a number of GMs or balls. If we could get a MP Jupiter Ghost, with the nukes replaced with the missile i designed, we should be able to do some massive damage, but it requires time and authority, which we don't really have. At a quick guess, i would think that they have enough forces to bury us in GMs/ balls, and you can bet that Bandit will be there with a gundam. Or Amuro. Either way, not something we would enjoy, at least not without several aces, and a secret weapon or two. Also, my anti Gundam planning is more of a defensive action rather than offensive, so it becomes a grind, and gundams are hard to wear down. Right now i think that 3 gundams are active, at least if not more. Hopefully the Gundam Alex is still under construction. Which is part of the reason I want Incognito getting into Jaburo's mainframe, so he can hack it and get the info on how to build lunar titanium, as well as any secret ops they are planning. If we attack Jaburo, we don't lose anything that could be used for Luna 2, or not much at least, and any secret data we recover would be incredibly valuable. Imagine capturing and using Gundam Alex ourselves? Yeah, that would be awesome. Hell it means Bernie wouldn't die!

contd(when i said 140 ships i meant magellans/ salamis, not Pegasus, but there would probably be 10 of them there)

Right now, Jaburo is a three pronged multiple beach-head assault, that will probably chew up a LOT of our remaining forces, possibly eliminating Jaburo for the rest of the war. If it goes wrong, we are probably screwed. But hey, i did plan for some redundancy, and the advantages of finishing Jaburo are way to big to ignore.

The best way to deal with luna 2 is the way Gato did, hit them fast and hard before they have a chance to respond. IF, and that's a big if, we can get close enough to spam multiple Jupiter Ghosts, then yeah we could maybe beat it, or at least crush a chunk of their fleet. I came up with a pretty effective anti ship weapon, but i dont know how effective that is. For all intents and purposes, its a missile with a beam payload. We know you can make a minovski bottle to store beam rifle shots, so make a bigger one and store a beam cannon shot that goes off on near contact, or by remote detonation. A ballsy way of doing it would be remote controlled, with a laser feeding it targeting data.

Really Ghiren is such a douche, he's fucking with all my plans just by existing, and made a few others the same way. And some of the best plans(>>12941744 >>12941595 >>12941604) rely on leaving him around as an enemy to unify against, since he represents the worst out of everything that happened so far.(hello operation british II, nerve gas, nukes, jesus what hasn't he done!!?!?)

    >Orbital/Lunar mass driver.
Zeon had one that they used early on in the war in the initial Earth assault operations. The feddies took it out with long range minovsky shielded cruise missiles on a ballistic arc. After that everything salvageable was repurposed for use in operation Trebuchet in September. Which then got blown to hell by air strikes. Sorry man.

    >I wonder if we can get a beam missile, that basically is a giant beam round(which were minovski particle bottles, according to apolgised earlier in the thread) to deal with lunar titanium?
I've speculated about the idea several times but it didnt seem to go anywhere practical. The easiest way would be to scale up a beam saber to the size of a large missile. It'd be expensive though that's the main drawback.

    >Attacking Luna 2
Do we still have a blockade in place there? Moving a large force out to Luna 2 is going to leave Solomon and Pezun open to attack by both Girhen and the Fed forces in Earth orbit. As long as our main operations are around Earth it doesnt take as long to pull back.

So, for next thread we'll likely be headed back to Grenada right? That's where Zanzibars are built. We need to find out if any with Minovsky craft systems have been launched or are nearing completion.

Keep in mind the production difference that they've got going now. I'm guessing there will be less Salamis and Magellans, but at LEAST twice as many Pegusai, 15-20 at least, each with a full complement of GMs. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

And really, I think it's been said that we're not going to win this war. Our best bet is to end it on favorable terms. So if we can take Jaburo, or even just destroy it and deny it to the Feds, and then maybe make a blitzkrieg attack on Luna 2 afterwords (or even simultaneously, though I don't think we have the numbers for that) then we can bring the Feds to the negotiating tables.

Speaking of which, I'd like to again bring up the idea of giving Gihren a lobotomy and then cloning him repeatedly and lobotomizing the clones and then giving the Feds the original to execute as they want, and sell the rest to any interested parties. I WAS thinking of using the Elmeth, but the camera, that i didn't think of. Hmm, if it worked we would have a great view of their defenses and that means we can make plans to neutralize them. It would be a very useful aid for our forces with the speed at which it can deploy a bit and set a beam off from a random direction. That, along with Nell in her Psycommu zaku would be a pretty big surprise. Luna two is crackable, gato showed that on his own, but it will NOT be nice to our forces. Really, we would probably have about 2 attack waves hit without warning, then they start hitting back. And with a lot of beams.

The real problem with attacking luna-2 is that it leaves the Legitimacy open to attack from Ghiren. We know what a colossal bastard he is, he WILL wreck our war-making capabilities, and leave us to die against the Feds counterattacks. While he is still around, we can't attack luna-2. Same goes for attacking him, if we do it, Luna-2's fleet breaks out and wrecks havoc. The best way to deal with ghiren would be to team up with White Base, and use the resulting super plot armor to ignore anything he throws at us until we are crushing his balls. Yes, I am still pissed that we lost Odessa due to his retarded insanity. We could have held it and maybe mass produced fullscale big zam production would have been a go. As it is, if we mass produce big zams, it will be the small one that doesnt have any of the things that made the big zam worth it, like the anti-air beams, and the I-field.

Also, to everyone thinking of using the Elemeth: good thinking. If nothing else, using it as a camera so that we know what we'll be up against is good. Then once we know what their forces are we can decide whether or not to attack, when to attack, and how to attack.

close but not quite. Think of how it gets that fuel away from a home base. The White Base. If we force the White Base to retreat, he has no choice but to follow. Its as simple as that. No matter how good he is, if his carrier is forced out of range, he has to retreat. The Outer Heaven should be capable of taking on the White Base, especially if it has a pair of Musai's or similiar ships, while we tie up its mobile suits, which would be its normal response. The white base starts taking damage, is forced to retreat, and Amuro goes with it! Doesn't that deal with him, WITHOUT triggering his plot armor? It doesn't kill him, but it will make him much less of a danger. Best thing is, this can be applied to the ENTIRE ZEON NAVY AS A STANDING ORDER FOR DEALING WITH GUNDAMS. By the way, yes this would put a lot more pressure on him because he would have to simultaneously protect the White Base and fight his own battles. Gaurenteed to rack on the Combat Fatigue!

Also, your average Pegasus-class probably outguns the Outer Heaven. The standard Zanzibar carries more mega particle cannons, but the Pegasus has a staggering array of solid ordnance in its frontal arc as well. Outer Heaven's MA pod surely replaces the retractable solid bore cannon usually mounted atop the Zanzibar as well.

If we managed to mount an I Field on it, the outer heaven would be untouchable via beams, and i don't think that the white base has enough rockets, etc to cripple it anytime fast. And missiles can be shot down. Elaine did it earlier on this thread. hell, mount a few dozen beam spray guns and have someone aim them off at where the missiles are, you could probably take down several a volley with that alone. If there is no way to get the Outer Heaven up to par, we really should look into a larger upgrade for it, or a new ship.

Right now what we need to be doing is planning our next major assault, ideally while convincing Ghiren that with this latest failure he's lost his bid to win the war. If we can settle the civil war, we might be to mount a successful raid on luna 2, and if we can take out luna 2's nukes and get near total space dominance we should be able to talk down the federation.

Actually, one of the two proposed Rhino models was based around muffling everything in beam chaff via missiles, then blasting it with a 300, or Gatling guns. point, but i figured that if we decrease the amount of damage the white base can bring to bear on us, then we increase the OH's operational lifetime, even in heated battle. The Jupiter Ghost, a mere mobile suit could power it for a minute. A lot of capital grade weapons are beams, and a carrier should be able to power the I-Field longer. Worse comes to worse, it runs out and we have to rely on beam chaff. Its not like the only thing that would be used, but i do get what you are saying there. The way i want to use it though is as a facet of a much more effective combat system. The feds like their beam spam a LOT. I want to decrease its effect on our forces. And coincidentally, decrease the chance of Amuro one-shotting the Outer Heaven, like he does to a lot of Zeon ships. What strong newtypes does Zeon have? Aside from Lalah?

I'm of the opinion that Lalah's best use involves as little blood as possible. In fact, being as part of minimal bloodshed.

Not killing or assassinations. Disabling suits before they get manned and launched. Mobility killing ships instead of blowing them to hell. Finding and sealing launch bays with precision beam strikes.

The last thing we want is traumatizing another of Zeon's best newtypes into uselessness. We kill because we have to, not because we enjoy butchering men and women, and managing the capture and surrender of a large Federation base with minimal casualties?

That would be a blow worth striking.

Challia Bull, but there may be a problem there as Girhen was the one who recruited him for the Flanagan institute. The only other who would come close is Elaine but I dont think we'd be able to accelerate her newtype development fast enough and the whole thing is pritty meta.

Not the same guy, but I like it.
Since we're not having Lalah actually kill anyone, she should be able to handle deployment better.
Also, if we have her to only mission-kill targets, by destroying ship engines and preventing MS's from launching, or destroying them while still un-piloted, that may lessen the strain on her and allow for longer active mission time.

Also, I was thinking along the concept of using bits to lay down beacons.

Basically, put down something that can guide ordinance into the points where they'll cripple rather than mass-kill Federation forces. Power conduits. Launch bays. Reactor coolant lines. Communications systems and laser relays.

Lalah could possibly singlehandedly reduce Federation C3 to chaos at the smallest possible loss of life, allowing us to hit a target without reducing it to a nuclear ashpile gained at the cost of far too many spacenoids.

And THAT is how we should encourage and enlist her into Zeonic military activities. Look at that face. Is that what we want to turn into a killing machine, like us?

    Agreed!
Let's talk to Char about it on the way back to Grenada.
    >>12952584
The feds will start launching chaff themselves once they realise they're being hit by beam weaponry. We need to make sure the funnels will self destruct if they're no longer under the Elmeth's control. If they dump too much chaff in the area it might cut the control range.

Anti-beam chaff dispenser with magnetic plates, so the bits could attach them right onto a beam cannon?
    >> Anonymous 11/27/10(Sat)23:17 No.12952762
    >>12952637
But aren't the funnels and bits being controlled via newtype telepathy, which is unaffected by anti-beam chaff or Minovsky particles?

ghineas is currently in the none too gentle hands of a Legitimacy MP, he didn't manage to escape with the Jupiter Ghost. We have to be really careful, but we could probably get him to design some very powerful weapons for us.

    >>12952015
.... so their fleet command for all space operations.... IS FUCKING GUARDED BY MEN IN FUCKING SPACESUITS!?!?!?!? Okay, i was expecting something like solomon, with huge numbers of guns, missiles etc. if its just damn infantry, and whatever can get out of their hangers, which make great chokepoints BTW, then a blitz would utterly ruin them. It doesnt matter how well made a GM is if its getting liberally doused in beams, rockets, and bullets. Jesus, Luna-2 by all means should be the second hardest place to get into, right after Jaburo.
    >>12952493
yeah, it might not work exactly as you envisioned, because the information has to get sent back to us somehow via laser or radio, but it should be an advantage, ant that makes it worth it, to some degree.

The recon bits will fly back so we can get the data we need, of course. No sense in having them stick around risking the data while attacking.
    >> Anonymous 11/27/10(Sat)23:29 No.12952861
    >>12952808
But wasn't that only in the context of how effective the beam weapon is, not the effectiveness of the bit-Elmeth control system?
    >> Anonymous 11/27/10(Sat)23:38 No.12952944
    >>12952861
yeah, it sounded to me like the bits would have to get closer to guarantee a kill. Their range isn't affected but their attack ability is.

    >>12952858
That's not really recon, but rather spy. A recon is closer to real time than a bit flying to and from the battlefield.

Mental stability. Having someone trying to screw around with Amuro's mental state wont work so good if they're worse off than he is.

    >>12952861
Not as likely because one of the posts he was quoting was me asking if we could use them to get behind their deployed beam chaff.
    >> Anonymous 11/27/10(Sat)23:45 No.12953013
    >>12952965
If you were, then you were not very clear.
Your post in the previous thread could be taken to refer to either the effect anti-beam chaff has on the bit-Elmeth control system, or of the bit's beam capacity to penetrate anti-beam chaff.

We would need Apologised to clarify.
    >> Arty 11/27/10(Sat)23:50 No.12953058
    >>12953013
I thought I was clear enough at the time. Beams cant fire through beam chaff that's the whole point, but funnels can fly through or around it and fire from where there's no obstruction.

He got seriously freaked by Dozle, who wasn't a newtype, our appearance would be something like the Skull Knight in full armor. It wouldn't stop him, his plot armor pretty much assures that, but we have at least as good a chance as anyone else from Zeon, if not slightly better, excepting Char. I think that Apologised said it somewhere, Amuro is a newtype beast, only two people surpassed him, and only in one of the two newtype skills at a time.

    >>12953013
I am pretty sure that it was the beam's attack power, not is distance from the Elmeth that was affected.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know where the Omake that talks about the effects of Natchmaren on morale written by the feds is? I remember it, but i cant find it in the archive.
