!8CHDJ3c6tQ 12/14/10(Tue)02:12 No.13146127I slid my deck over the table towards him. He did the same with his own. I cut his deck once and passed it back, afraid to so much as wrinkle an edge. Across from me, he had cut my deck into about 10 piles. He looked at eat one, felt each one, and even sniffed each set, the teeth in his beard rattling as he did, before finding one he seemed to like. He set it aside and piled all the other stacks together, placing the special stack on top. He passed my deck back to me and bellowed, “KEEP!” Then he drew his seven cards, looked them over, and smiled once more. The players that were behind him looked at his hand and started to giggle.
My hand was less than fortunate. I only had one mana, and a mountain at that. I had two Lanowar Elves, but I wasn't going to risk no getting a forest and decide the match on turn one. I announced that I had to mulligan, and passed my deck back to his side of the table. Again he did his strange ritual with my cards, picking out one by some crazy idea in his head and set it on top. I drew like shit again; two mana, but no mana ramp and lots of creatures that cost four or higher. I passed my deck to him twice more, each time drawing one less card, as per the rules. By the fourth time, I had to take a chance. Two red mana, but a copper Myr to get me my green on turn three. It was far less than ideal, but I couldn't afford to try for a better hand again. |
