    What the fuck guys?

I came here about a year ago, hoping to learn DnD, and couldn't find any DnD threads, only Warhammer. So I took the time to learn Warhammer, and when I did, I could only find WoD threads.
So I just finished downloading the nWoD books, AND NOW THERE ARE NO FUCKING WoD THREADS?

    WHAT THE FUCK /TG/?

    >> Anonymous 01/04/10(Mon)15:43 No.7426463
Make your own or roll with what's being talked about.

/tg/ kinda works like that. You don't come here looking for a specific thread if you don't want to make one.

Ask questions then. You didn't say it until now, you should've said it in the OP. You also didn't make a single bit of effort to get the ball rolling on a certain topic.

You INTENDED it to be a general WoD thread, but the OP (and now, the entire line of discussion) is a metathread, so more sage.
    >> Anonymous 01/04/10(Mon)15:50 No.7426529
So, I was thinking about running a game of WoD, where each character starts human, and then turns into something else (par for the course really)

However after they turn, they would each have a different objective, and have to try to keep there supernatural type from the others. For example, the Vampire of the party will be told that the Werewolf will betray him, the werewolf will be told the Mage will betray them, etc.

They will have to keep identity secret, but work together as long as possible, to try and fulfill their goals.

Does /tg/ think this will work?
    >> Anonymous 01/04/10(Mon)15:52 No.7426547
    >>7426529
Not without losing the flavor of each race's story. Also, expect allot of side DMing and generally having to exclude other people.

From the get go, no. It will not work. However if you setup a time for everyone to solo one session after doing one as a human, then it's brilliant.

If you have a good group shit would be awesome.
But if even one member of your group decides not to play along at any point, it seems like it will fall apart pretty quickly.

How are you going to instill that level of distrust in your players?

Whats to stop them from metagaming and saying "Hey guy's I'm a vampire now." And how would you ensure someone even betrays the party?

Seems like a lot of work. But if you can figure out a way to do it right, it will be pretty epic. If not, its going to suck... horribly.

that's works well if you have experienced WoD players, and a group that roleplays well together. i tried a similar thing where everyone started in the innocents book, and later as adults all had to work together, but had to end it cuz the mage kept being a douchebag.

That was the general idea, I was going to have one or two sessions as human, then have them each get turned on a solo supply run.

The group is more into the story telling aspect. So it works well. As far as that goes.

    >>7426557
Each game I've run, I've had someone work as a spy, basically someone who, in return for keeping the party in check, gets a few more fudged rolls. And after my last game, I have had everyone be the spy at some point or another.

First game of DnD, the munchkin/rollplayer of the group decided he wanted to be a backstabbing fucktard. So i told him i would pull strings for him, if he helped railroad the players into fights and stuff. Since he just wanted to kill he didn't give a shit, while the rest of the party didn't see the rails he was laying.

In the end it turned him into the backstabbing prick, to the guy that held the team together. Lots of reverse psychology involved, but now he is one of the bigger roleplayers.

As for the others, they were mostly in characters working for the enemy, so they new his/her plans, and were trying to kill the team without getting caught.

Worked out better then i thought it would honestly.

I was really surprised it went that well, then when I started hearing about all the mindfucks/backstaps/etc of WoD, I figured i just HAD to run a game where they start out BFF LULZ! Then get different objectives and have to start backstabbing each other.

It's even better because no one knows yet, and they decided on their own, that since its supposed to be modern day and stuff, they should make all their characters based on themselves.

Just an attempt for said munchkin to justify metagame/genre savyness, but I'm going to allow it. The backstabs will be that much better.

Get use to alot of taking a single player aside for private RP sessions or passing notes. Unless you have altruistic players who refuse to metagame despite OOC knowledge (like me), you'll be doing that stuff quite a bit. Though it can be fun to mess with the paranoia level considering they'll catch on and become suspicious. Then you can start taking players aside even when you have nothing to say to them; just for shits and giggles.

Well, It involves knowing my group, and using some reverse psychology on them. My group actually has a zombie plan, and since they are playing as themselves, I'm sure they will probably execute it as soon as shit hits the fan (they already know that its a horror system, so they might not even wait that long)

I know where they will be and what they will be doing, and they will need to make supply runs, so I plan on doing a single session with each player, inbetween the 2nd and 3rd sessions, asking them to be the "spy" of the group, and then turning them and giving them an order, that will conflict and cause tension with another player. Then start the 3rd session after a time skip of a few days, where each player has been turned, but none of them know the others are turned, or spy's yet.

Depending on the game is depending on the music.

I ran a game of hunter with an STPC who ran a pirate radio station from the back of a chopped and rigged school bus. It was mobile to prevent detection. He was mostly just a plot device when the PCs were stuck. They could tune in to hear a coveniently relevant interview with a prominent Hunter or paranormal expert that might help them in what they were doing... or they could just listen to the music he was playing.

I'd leave it on weren't they weren't near a radio, in game, though. I would turn it down, however.

No cross templating. Just don't allow it, even though it isn't possible for the most part. Certain supernaturals will start out more powerful than others (like Mages) but each of these groups has a strength. A lowly Vampire can be physically and mystically bested by nearly everything but they have more numbers and resources than other supernaturals. They're more likely to use humans to their advantage.

So, if any of you plays feel like a third wheel, then remind them of what they have to work with and how they exploit their strengths more.

Sin-Eaters are bonded with a Geist, a powerful ghost-spirit thing, which brings them back from the dead in return for letting the Geist ride around in the sin-eater's head.

When a sin-eater "dies" the Geist does its mojo, transfers the death onto some random person and the Sin-Eater is brought back to life the next mornng. That random person dies in the same manner as the SE would have. It might be someone the SE knows or even loves, or it could just be some random Afghan.

There's another cost though. Each time he's resurrected, the Sin-Eater loses one point of Synergy and two points of maximum synergy. Synergy being the Morality-equivalent for SE's and representing the relationship between a SE and his Geist. When it reaches 0 the Geist can take complete control of the Sin-Eater and go on a fucking death-kill rampage.

Or any supernatural for that matter. Which again, is the idea.

The players are aware that the others might be supernatural now also, so if they reveal their identity it could cause a race war with their friends. Not fun.

And if they don't think the others are all supernaturals, then telling everyone would get them lynched.

So in any situation, you wouldn't be able to say "Lol im a Mage/Vampire/Werewold/Changling/whatever the fuck i'm supposed to be/etc. do what i say because im stronger" because they will be outnumbered.

i always saw supernaturals as depending on the situation one trumps all,
Mage: with planning and on their terms, nothing can beat a mage,
Werewolf: if both are surprised wolves have a sizable advantage in shapechange and regeneration.
Vampire: Easy to manipulate and backstab
Promethean: no one likes prometheans, shit sucks for them.

One trick Prometheans can do is rig their car so that there are wires to shock the driver. Then they can just shoot out the window or whatever. That lets them heal and regain pyros every round. The downside is that their disfigurements will show the whole time, and drive EVERYONE WHO SEES THEM PERMANENTLY INSANE.
