"In any case, our forces aren't in any sort of shape to be handling a trained division of Federal forces along with the Costa Rican brown river forces. So we've got the engineers doing make-do patches on the Gaws to try and redeploy north of the country."
"It still doesn't change the fact that the Feds are making a push, and our Southern Lines probably our weakest. Not so much after you pretty much killed off the organised resistance back in April David, but it's still the weak link in our American force composition."
"How the hell did THAT happen?" Norris asks Motnagu.
"Simple, with Costa Rica secretly on our side, we planned to use them as an early warning system and then deploy reserve forces to the Rio Grande to hold them off."
"And the reason we don't do that now is?"
"Because WE ARE THE RESERVE FORCES."
the conversation reaches an impasse.
"Well, on the plus side, all of our combat data on enemy Mobile Suits has been sent to HQ. So there's that." The blond adds.
"What about the Mad Angler Unit, have we gotten contact with them yet?" You ask.
"Not yet, but under standard protocol they should surface and report back to base in about an hour, but they wont be able to meet up with us any time soon most likely."
After twenty minutes the engineers come back, they think the Gaws will be able to make a hop to about the middle of Mexico beofre they have to land. But after that it'll take twice as long to repair. It might be better to just abandon them, but you'll cross that bridge when you come to it.
Now you just have to pick a landing spot. You suggest Salinca Cruz. If you taxi the planes into the town, you know the place is defendable, and it's deserted so you won't have to worry about civilian losses.
Another 30 minutes later and you're all in the air. |
