Instant death is a well known and established term. Eternal warrior still works against this, as do invulnerable saves. However, when it causes a wound on something, unless it has eternal warrior or a rule that specifically allows it to be immune to instant death, the weapon causes plain and simple instant death.

Wat. It always causes Instant Death, its pretty simple. Invun saving and Eternal Warrior prevent this. It isn't really that ambiguous, unless someone is going to try and ignore standard Instant Death rules.
